- 0:00Speaker 1: I first got to the NBA we flew commercial, Yes exactly,
- 0:03Speaker 1: I'm not just agreeing with So when you played the
- 0:06Speaker 1: night before and flew the next morning, when was you
- 0:09Speaker 1: exactly gonna get your uniform clean? You had to wash
- 0:12Speaker 1: your uniform yourself. So after the game, when you got
- 0:15Speaker 1: to your room, you took a shower in your uniform
- 0:18Speaker 1: and dried and dropped on from the commercial outline, the
- 0:20Speaker 1: next one, clemp it and clean your uniform without showering
- 0:24Speaker 1: in it. Well, that is that is that is possible
- 0:26Speaker 1: after nationally clean it with without showering in it. You
- 0:29Speaker 1: don't have to have it. Oh yeah, no, but it's
- 0:31Speaker 1: easier to do it that way. You take it off,
- 0:38Speaker 1: you put it back on. It's just easier to clean it.
- 0:44Speaker 2: On that note, On that note, let's get you back
- 0:47Speaker 2: out to dreams Borough and join Iron Eagle, Jim Spinarkle
- 0:51Speaker 2: Evan Washington A hard time topping this.
- 0:55Speaker 3: How we.
- 0:57Speaker 2: Enjoyed all those all those shows, all those nights working
- 1:01Speaker 2: with the great great Gumble.
- 1:04Speaker 1: You know, Ernie, when you meet legends, and Greg's been
- 1:08Speaker 1: a legend fifty years, and they just as nice as
- 1:12Speaker 1: you hoped and thought they would be I'm gonna miss
- 1:16Speaker 1: his jokes and I'm gonna miss the jokes.
- 1:21Speaker 2: Jack.
- 1:22Speaker 1: You talk about the jad the dad jokes of all.
- 1:26Speaker 1: He went to King Chap, You're like knock knock and
- 1:29Speaker 1: the second.
- 1:29Speaker 4: Thing broken pencil, broken pencil.
- 1:31Speaker 1: Who you know, it's pointless. You know I've seen I've
- 1:34Speaker 1: seen the Eagles probably forty times. And he says, I've
- 1:39Speaker 1: seen the Rolling Stones seventy five times. And I said, Greg,
- 1:43Speaker 1: one of my goals in life, I want to see
- 1:45Speaker 1: the Rolling Stones. He said, just let me know any
- 1:47Speaker 1: time you want to go. But between the jokes and
- 1:50Speaker 1: him bragged about the Rolling Stones man, and he was
- 1:53Speaker 1: just a kind, honorable man. I know and his brother
- 1:57Speaker 1: Brian a long time, but getting to know him just
- 2:00Speaker 1: because of Mars the badness Man. When I got that
- 2:03Speaker 1: text last week, man, it just kind of ruined my
- 2:06Speaker 1: new year going into the new year. Man, And just
- 2:09Speaker 1: rest in peace, Greg, and thank you for being the
- 2:11Speaker 1: consummate pro and gentlemen without question.
- 2:14Speaker 2: Yeah, And it was. It's one of those things too.
- 2:17Speaker 2: When we when we heard we were going to be
- 2:19Speaker 2: doing March Madness, first thing I did was reach out,
- 2:22Speaker 2: sit down with Greg and talk about what exactly is
- 2:25Speaker 2: this because it looks like mayhem, it looks like chaos,
- 2:28Speaker 2: but you make it look like there's nothing to it.
- 2:32Speaker 2: And that's the way he did it. And he never
- 2:34Speaker 2: did it by drawing attention to himself. He just did
- 2:36Speaker 2: his job and he was a prose pro And the.
- 2:39Speaker 1: First person I reached out to was Clark Kellogg. Yes
- 2:42Speaker 1: because they I said, yo, Man, reach out to Bryant first, obviously,
- 2:46Speaker 1: but Clark, because man, Clark is just a wonderful person.
- 2:50Speaker 1: And I felt, I felt like when I got there,
- 2:55Speaker 1: like we know how we feel about you, Ernie. I
- 2:57Speaker 1: guess Clark felt the same way about Greg and man.
- 3:01Speaker 1: I had some texts from Dev Gallman and people at
- 3:04Speaker 1: CBS like this one hurt a lot, And it did
- 3:07Speaker 1: hurt a lot.
- 3:07Speaker 3: Yeah know him and his brother, fine gentleman. You know
- 3:10Speaker 3: for me, it hits a little different, Ernie. I was
- 3:13Speaker 3: a high level juvenile delinquent. And of course I watched
- 3:17Speaker 3: guys like you, Dick Vattel, Brian and Greg. But when
- 3:20Speaker 3: you get interviewed by gentlemen, fine german, such as yourself,
- 3:24Speaker 3: you know that you've made it. So you know the
- 3:26Speaker 3: fact that I was interviewed him by a couple of
- 3:28Speaker 3: times they would call him a friend and know him
- 3:31Speaker 3: my condozs to his family. But now he reminds me
- 3:34Speaker 3: of view just a fine young gentleman.
- 3:35Speaker 4: Yeah, it's difficult for us obviously. We I think it's
- 3:39Speaker 4: now going almost a decade. I'm doing March Madness with him.
- 3:44Speaker 1: How many years has it been, Erniere?
- 3:46Speaker 2: It is it's been ten, twelve.
- 3:48Speaker 4: Years, it's and the most memorable day, honestly for me,
- 3:54Speaker 4: was the first because just like I would imagine if
- 3:58Speaker 4: someone sits on his set and you open the show.
- 4:00Speaker 4: And when he opened it up, I got even I'm
- 4:03Speaker 4: getting it now. I got chills hearing his voice.
- 4:06Speaker 2: You heard you heard the CBS the music. Yeah, this is.
- 4:10Speaker 4: Real, this is a fake. I'm actually in this. And
- 4:14Speaker 4: because when you hear Ernie Johnson, Ah, this is Ernie
- 4:17Speaker 4: Johnson with tn T and you hear that, it gives
- 4:20Speaker 4: you an elevated feeling that this is important.
- 4:24Speaker 1: So he gave it a whole whole March Madness selection
- 4:28Speaker 1: show when he opens that up, and we watched that,
- 4:31Speaker 1: and we used to watch that even before we actually
- 4:33Speaker 1: did it. You're like, oh man, it's time for the
- 4:36Speaker 1: selection show. You feel you feel different.
- 4:39Speaker 4: When you hear that voice, you know yourself, Greg Bob Costas.
- 4:44Speaker 4: When they used to open you guys open shows. It's like,
- 4:46Speaker 4: oh no, it's real now.
- 4:47Speaker 2: Greg, one of a kind to his whole family, comes
- 4:53Speaker 2: from the heart, and he will be missed and we
- 4:56Speaker 2: will miss him dearly, that's for sure.
- 5:01Speaker 1: Assass
