Latest / Foul Territory / Andrew Vaughn reflects on Brewers trade + Cuse Mets naming contest
Transcript
- 0:03Speaker 1: While we wait for Andrew Vaughn in a couple of minutes,
- 0:06Speaker 1: let's show I think a former KP team.
- 0:08Speaker 2: Did you spend a minute with Syracuse with the Chiefs?
- 0:12Speaker 3: No, I played in Syracuse. I was never on the
- 0:14Speaker 3: Syracuse Mets, but I did play in Syracuse.
- 0:17Speaker 2: And I just called him the Chiefs Syracuse.
- 0:19Speaker 4: I was a Syracuse Met for a second. You're in
- 0:23Speaker 4: my career.
- 0:24Speaker 5: Yeah, okay, Well they.
- 0:25Speaker 1: Don't like the name anymore. Okay, well, they don't like
- 0:28Speaker 1: the name. They want to rename it. So they're doing
- 0:30Speaker 1: a community contest and they want help. Anyone have any ideas.
- 0:34Speaker 1: They did this with Binghamton and turned into the Rumble Ponies,
- 0:37Speaker 1: which is an A plus name.
- 0:40Speaker 6: Yeah, I've really you know what, I totally dropped the
- 0:43Speaker 6: ball on this one.
- 0:44Speaker 4: All I remember. It was never really any fans there.
- 0:47Speaker 4: It was always really quiet. I don't know, just the
- 0:52Speaker 4: Syracuse soundless fans. I don't know.
- 0:54Speaker 1: It was about whenever I've gone up there, it's negative
- 0:59Speaker 1: ten degrees and snowing eight feet.
- 1:02Speaker 4: There you go. I'm down with that.
- 1:04Speaker 3: I see a potential partnership here. When I think Syracuse,
- 1:08Speaker 3: New York, I think Dinosaur barbecues. So how about the
- 1:10Speaker 3: Syracuse Dinosaurs.
- 1:13Speaker 4: There you go? Cool mask impossible?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, I like that.
- 1:18Speaker 4: You could definitely have a fire mascot running around there.
- 1:21Speaker 4: There you go. That would be hey, you know who?
- 1:25Speaker 4: I love that.
- 1:26Speaker 6: You probably have a lot more families coming out, right,
- 1:29Speaker 6: kids coming out. They would enjoy that, so and that's
- 1:31Speaker 6: what they need. I just remember not a lot of fans. So, hey,
- 1:34Speaker 6: the Syracuse Dino's. I like that, right, you.
- 1:37Speaker 3: Can go to end up with a name like the
- 1:43Speaker 3: Rumble Ponies, Like did they just like everyone submitted their
- 1:47Speaker 3: name and then they pulled them out of a hat
- 1:48Speaker 3: and they're like, okay, let's vote, And someone just creatively
- 1:51Speaker 3: was like, hey, Rumble Ponies, that sounds great.
- 1:55Speaker 1: There's maybe there's some story to it that we don't
- 1:57Speaker 1: know because we didn't look it up.
- 1:58Speaker 2: But I like dinosaurs.
- 2:00Speaker 1: I mean you could do like a badass version of
- 2:01Speaker 1: Barney and bring him out there, more of a devilish Barney.
- 2:05Speaker 6: Well, you know, you know, I don't know if you go,
- 2:07Speaker 6: I don't know if you remember Barney Scotty, but you
- 2:09Speaker 6: do you remember bj I think.
- 2:11Speaker 4: It was it was like the Yellow Dinosaur. Yeah.
- 2:13Speaker 2: I used to remember because.
- 2:15Speaker 6: I think like the Rockies kind of they don't they
- 2:18Speaker 6: have a mascot that kind of looks like Barney a
- 2:20Speaker 6: little bit. So let's go like with BJ and go
- 2:22Speaker 6: with the yellow he had, like the cool sneakers, like
- 2:25Speaker 6: that was my favorite, you know character off the Barney
- 2:27Speaker 6: episodes was was that was that dinosaur character. So I
- 2:30Speaker 6: think we could switch it up, maybe some yellow and
- 2:32Speaker 6: something in there.
- 2:34Speaker 2: Orange orange fire.
- 2:41Speaker 1: All right, FT is back on TV's Across the Nation
- 2:44Speaker 1: and Kevin Plar is going to welcome in his former
- 2:46Speaker 1: teammate KP.
- 2:47Speaker 2: You want to do the intro?
- 2:50Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I'll do a brief intro. I mean,
- 2:53Speaker 3: former team of mine.
- 2:54Speaker 5: It was.
- 2:54Speaker 3: It was short lived, but very obviously very impactful. We
- 2:58Speaker 3: played together in spring Train. I was with the White
- 3:00Speaker 3: Sox for one month, but got to know Andrew Vaughn,
- 3:03Speaker 3: got to know his wife, was just a great teammate.
- 3:07Speaker 3: And obviously we're very happy to have you on the
- 3:09Speaker 3: show now, Milwaukee Brewer. Uh, kind of We're obviously going
- 3:13Speaker 3: to touch on, you know, going from last to first,
- 3:16Speaker 3: but how you doing doing good?
- 3:19Speaker 7: I mean, you know, definitely a world win of a
- 3:22Speaker 7: year for me, to say the least.
- 3:24Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, I want to stay awake a little bit
- 3:26Speaker 3: from the obvious, because I know Cam wants to kind
- 3:28Speaker 3: of touch on, you know, culture of you know obviously
- 3:31Speaker 3: going from the White Sox to the Brewers, but I
- 3:33Speaker 3: kind of just wanted to talk about a little bit
- 3:35Speaker 3: about your journey. You know, everyone's path and the big
- 3:37Speaker 3: leagues is a little bit different. Yours is much different
- 3:40Speaker 3: than mine. I was a guy who's kind of up
- 3:41Speaker 3: and down in the minor leagues, big leagues, Triple A,
- 3:44Speaker 3: and then I finally got my opportunity. You got your opportunity,
- 3:48Speaker 3: you made the most of it, you played really well,
- 3:51Speaker 3: and then you struggled a little bit and you got
- 3:52Speaker 3: sent down a Triple A. Was that a little bit
- 3:55Speaker 3: of a wake up call for you? I know, as
- 3:56Speaker 3: a player, you always know that that's a reality, but
- 3:59Speaker 3: someone like you that for the most part was kind
- 4:02Speaker 3: of smooth sailing. You know, you kind of forget that
- 4:05Speaker 3: that's a reality, and then one day you just find
- 4:07Speaker 3: out you're going to Triple A. Was that just kind
- 4:09Speaker 3: of a little bit of a wake up call for you.
- 4:12Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, it was definitely tough.
- 4:13Speaker 7: I mean, first two months of the season didn't go
- 4:16Speaker 7: anywhere I wanted to, you know, the goals to go
- 4:18Speaker 7: out there and help your team win, and you know,
- 4:20Speaker 7: it felt like I wasn't able to do that.
- 4:23Speaker 5: You know, I was taking my best at Batch. You know,
- 4:25Speaker 5: I always put.
- 4:26Speaker 7: It all on the line, no matter what, just not
- 4:28Speaker 7: to see the results you know it's done, you know,
- 4:32Speaker 7: getting the triple A. I think the biggest goal was
- 4:34Speaker 7: just just get right, you know, get myself back.
- 4:37Speaker 5: To what I do in the box.
- 4:38Speaker 7: And you know I kind of I kind of felt
- 4:40Speaker 7: like I was moving that way, you know, and then
- 4:42Speaker 7: the trade happened.
- 4:44Speaker 6: Hey, hey, Andrew, I want to I want to piggyback
- 4:46Speaker 6: off of that man, because I think that was a
- 4:48Speaker 6: great setup for my question because most of us, you know,
- 4:52Speaker 6: baseball players, we don't lose a lot coming through the rings,
- 4:55Speaker 6: right the first time we really you know, get that
- 4:57Speaker 6: taste of losing is in professional baseball, right, And I
- 5:00Speaker 6: just want to ask you, like, was there any pressure,
- 5:02Speaker 6: you know, you coming up to the White Sox as
- 5:04Speaker 6: highly talent, as highly talent as you were, was there
- 5:08Speaker 6: just you know, did you put add a pressure on yourself,
- 5:10Speaker 6: like trying to do everything and trying to, you know,
- 5:12Speaker 6: be the guy that creates that spark or whatever the
- 5:15Speaker 6: White Sox was looking for. Was that a part of
- 5:17Speaker 6: kind of the struggles that you went through after when
- 5:19Speaker 6: you first came up and we saw just how special
- 5:21Speaker 6: player you were.
- 5:23Speaker 7: Yeah, I think a little bit. You know, it's definitely
- 5:26Speaker 7: tough losing. Nobody wants to do that. That's you know,
- 5:28Speaker 7: the worst thing in baseball. So I mean me personally,
- 5:31Speaker 7: I was trying to go out there and do everything
- 5:32Speaker 7: I could, you know, worked my butt off, you know,
- 5:37Speaker 7: went out there and was trying my best, and just
- 5:39Speaker 7: you know, it didn't work out the best. And yeah,
- 5:43Speaker 7: you know I came up pretty quick. You know, not
- 5:46Speaker 7: much minor league time. COVID happened. COVID kind of did
- 5:49Speaker 7: everything crazy to everybody, you know, But I got the
- 5:52Speaker 7: opportunity and you know, wanted to take full advantage of it.
- 5:57Speaker 4: One quick fall on that too.
- 5:59Speaker 6: You had a brief stint with and when we gonna
- 6:01Speaker 6: get to the fun stuff and the happy stuff, because
- 6:03Speaker 6: I'm so happy for you to be able to play
- 6:05Speaker 6: a winning Brandon baseball because what KP was talking about,
- 6:08Speaker 6: you know, I mentioned earlier, people don't realize.
- 6:10Speaker 4: That, you know, bad baseball can be contagious, you know.
- 6:13Speaker 6: You know, even some of my you know, good years,
- 6:16Speaker 6: it was a struggle on bad teams. You know, I
- 6:18Speaker 6: thought I had a good year and they hit like
- 6:20Speaker 6: two sixty and it was like, well, that was a.
- 6:21Speaker 4: Good year on the struggling team.
- 6:23Speaker 6: Can you talk about just on your way out, because
- 6:25Speaker 6: I think he's done a great job.
- 6:27Speaker 4: Will Venable just a little bit on maybe.
- 6:29Speaker 6: The culture change he was my ex teammate. Can you
- 6:31Speaker 6: just touch on him a little bit before we talk
- 6:33Speaker 6: about the Brewers and and the kind of leader that
- 6:35Speaker 6: he's shown to be earlier early in his teen yere
- 6:38Speaker 6: as a White Sox manager.
- 6:40Speaker 5: Yeah, you know, his knowledge of the game is I mean,
- 6:42Speaker 5: you've seen it.
- 6:43Speaker 3: You know.
- 6:44Speaker 7: He was also under Boti, who's you know, one of
- 6:46Speaker 7: the greatest managers to exist. And I think he just
- 6:49Speaker 7: brought the right energy. You know, he had the right
- 6:51Speaker 7: mindset and you know, got the guys together. And you know,
- 6:54Speaker 7: short lived that was with him, unfortunately, but you know,
- 6:57Speaker 7: he was great.
- 7:00Speaker 1: I'm on my phone right now in Arena Club and
- 7:02Speaker 1: I'm looking at the Emerald slab packs and I see
- 7:05Speaker 1: in the grail a Bobby Wit Junior twenty twenty Bowman
- 7:08Speaker 1: Chrome Prospect Auto Gold Refractor card. Give me that, give
- 7:12Speaker 1: me your phone.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I'm gonna I'm gonna get you.
- 7:14Speaker 2: Well, you gotta buy it to me. I don't have it.
- 7:16Speaker 2: You know, you have to get a slab pack. No,
- 7:18Speaker 2: I don't have that, and give me your slab pack.
- 7:20Speaker 3: That card's worth you buy me slab pack, Scott, so
- 7:22Speaker 3: I can get the Bobby Witt Junior Gold Refractor twenty
- 7:25Speaker 3: twenty Bowman Chrome Auto because that sounds.
- 7:28Speaker 2: Awesome and it's worth a lot.
- 7:29Speaker 4: It's worth a lot.
- 7:30Speaker 5: He's a stud, he's not going down.
- 7:32Speaker 4: Get a grill.
- 7:33Speaker 3: Get a grill.
- 7:34Speaker 4: I want a grail, Scott, give me the holy grill.
- 7:36Speaker 4: You do it.
- 7:37Speaker 1: To do that, you must get yourself a slab pack
- 7:40Speaker 1: in Arena Club or if you want to get it
- 7:41Speaker 1: for a friend, you can do that too. And right
- 7:43Speaker 1: now you can get twenty percent off your first slab
- 7:46Speaker 1: pack or your first card purchase if you're going on
- 7:48Speaker 1: there and you're just like, hey, I want a specific card.
- 7:50Speaker 2: I find it there. I want to grab it for
- 7:52Speaker 2: my showroom.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Arena Club dot Com slash foul and use the code
- 7:57Speaker 1: fo U l Andrew. You know, I try and figure
- 8:01Speaker 1: out Hey, are there any changes?
- 8:03Speaker 4: Right?
- 8:03Speaker 1: And a lot of fans do too. So when you
- 8:04Speaker 1: go over to Milwaukee, you know, I'm looking at scattering reports.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Did you move a little bit closer to the plate,
- 8:11Speaker 1: and do you have a conversation with the coaching staff
- 8:14Speaker 1: about you know, the way you've made contact right?
- 8:16Speaker 2: You've always hit the ball hard.
- 8:17Speaker 1: We talked about this for a while, right, and a
- 8:19Speaker 1: lot of times, you know, you go opposite field seeing
- 8:21Speaker 1: you pull the ball a little more right now, so
- 8:24Speaker 1: you can describe it much better than I can take
- 8:26Speaker 1: us through what you're actually seeing from either a stance
- 8:29Speaker 1: and approach perspective, and then also the way the ball's
- 8:31Speaker 1: coming off the bat for you.
- 8:34Speaker 7: Yeah, I didn't really think about the stance stuff very much.
- 8:37Speaker 7: You know, kind of went over some film with the
- 8:38Speaker 7: hitting coaches in Nashville, and you know, there was some
- 8:41Speaker 7: some minor tweaks you looked at when I was going
- 8:43Speaker 7: good and me compared to you know, maybe some rollovers,
- 8:46Speaker 7: some ground balls orre not going so good, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 7: and there was something that stood out and just you know,
- 8:52Speaker 7: worked on those in the cage, and you know, I think.
- 8:55Speaker 5: That's you know, helped my approach big time.
- 9:01Speaker 4: Hey, now we got to ask about Pat Murphy.
- 9:04Speaker 6: I've been fortunate enough to be around a lot of guys, right,
- 9:06Speaker 6: talk about a great leader, man, great energy.
- 9:09Speaker 4: One. Does he know your real name.
- 9:11Speaker 6: Or did he just immediately give you a nickname? And
- 9:13Speaker 6: what's the nickname? Because everybody he gives everybody nickname? What's
- 9:16Speaker 6: your nickname? Thus far, this early and.
- 9:18Speaker 5: With the Brewers, I ain't kind of nickname yet.
- 9:22Speaker 4: He ain't given you a nickname yet.
- 9:23Speaker 5: Bro, I didn't get a nickname. I'm gonna say it's
- 9:26Speaker 5: not a nickname.
- 9:27Speaker 7: But you know, I was going up there, and you know,
- 9:28Speaker 7: first couple of bats, I think, I think I hit
- 9:31Speaker 7: a rollover, got jam broke my bat. And he just
- 9:33Speaker 7: looked at me and goes, hey, man, just play like
- 9:35Speaker 7: a Neanderthal up there, don't think, don't have any knowledge.
- 9:39Speaker 5: Just play.
- 9:39Speaker 1: And I was like, huh, I think Pat's calling. When
- 9:49Speaker 1: you're raking, you get phone calls. That's what happened. Oh wait,
- 9:53Speaker 1: come back, I think he's back. Yeah, Andrew, go ahead.
- 9:57Speaker 5: I'm sorry about that. Grandpa called me. I'll call him back.
- 10:02Speaker 2: You're good, You're good.
- 10:03Speaker 1: So he said hit like in Neanderthal, which actually leads
- 10:05Speaker 1: to what I wanted to ask you about. So I
- 10:07Speaker 1: saw today they announced that they're going to give out
- 10:09Speaker 1: King Bond shirts on August twenty sixth.
- 10:13Speaker 5: Did you see this?
- 10:14Speaker 2: Is this right?
- 10:15Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 10:15Speaker 2: Adam?
- 10:16Speaker 1: So, Adam mccalvy covers the team. I'm sure you've met
- 10:18Speaker 1: him there. He covers the Brewers for MLB. He said,
- 10:21Speaker 1: how hot is Andrew baughd? The Brewers are adding a
- 10:23Speaker 1: T shirt to the giveaway schedule on August twenty six
- 10:26Speaker 1: against the Diamondbacks.
- 10:27Speaker 5: Cool.
- 10:27Speaker 2: So then we're breaking this to you. What do you
- 10:29Speaker 2: think now? Might call you King?
- 10:34Speaker 5: No, I don't think.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Hey, yeah, what do you got on the te man?
- 10:47Speaker 5: It's exciting.
- 10:48Speaker 7: I mean just the energy in the clubhouse, the guys,
- 10:51Speaker 7: everybody's together, you know, staff included, and just playing really
- 10:56Speaker 7: good baseball. I mean that's kind of what brings everybody together.
- 10:58Speaker 7: I mean, do an anyone can to win? I mean
- 11:01Speaker 7: you see how I'm newer to the team, but the
- 11:04Speaker 7: team runs, the face, just plays defense, pitches.
- 11:06Speaker 5: I mean it's just incredible.
- 11:10Speaker 3: Hey, I got to ask you some questions about things
- 11:13Speaker 3: that you really really care about, things that you really love.
- 11:15Speaker 3: I know you're new to Milwaukee. You find a good
- 11:18Speaker 3: fishing spot.
- 11:18Speaker 7: Yet at five o'clock. I'm going my first time. So
- 11:22Speaker 7: we'll see.
- 11:25Speaker 3: You can get it from anyone else, or you know,
- 11:27Speaker 3: you go to one of those like chat rooms or
- 11:29Speaker 3: like blogs Milwaukee fishing spots, or you know, someone on
- 11:32Speaker 3: the team kind of give you a little secret fishing
- 11:34Speaker 3: spot in Milwaukee.
- 11:36Speaker 5: Yeah, d'e hall on the plane yesterday, it's like, hey,
- 11:38Speaker 5: you want to go fish in the morning.
- 11:39Speaker 7: I was like, uh, you know, we land at one
- 11:41Speaker 7: o'clock and he was like, no, We're gonna go in
- 11:43Speaker 7: the afternoon.
- 11:43Speaker 5: And I was like, all right, I'm in.
- 11:46Speaker 3: He's there, you're there, and I'm there.
- 11:48Speaker 5: I'm going fishing.
- 11:51Speaker 6: Hey, I want to ask you speak okay, fishing, right,
- 11:53Speaker 6: that's something you love to do, That's something you would
- 11:55Speaker 6: you you you know you enjoy doing. Is there any
- 12:00Speaker 6: possible chance that you're gonna send Sabali a Christmas gift,
- 12:03Speaker 6: maybe some fishing rides or something, because he's the one
- 12:06Speaker 6: who want, you.
- 12:07Speaker 4: Know, requested to trade and here we are now you
- 12:09Speaker 4: you're playing winning baseball and playing with the guy.
- 12:12Speaker 6: You know, a group of guys who really love playing
- 12:14Speaker 6: for each other.
- 12:15Speaker 4: Do you have any plans on senning air Sabali.
- 12:17Speaker 6: Maybe a Christmas gift to get you at Chicago and
- 12:19Speaker 6: over to Milwaukee.
- 12:20Speaker 4: I'm just saying.
- 12:22Speaker 5: I mean that trade was crazy.
- 12:24Speaker 7: I mean I saw it happened, and then you know,
- 12:26Speaker 7: the next morning, I got a phone call and I
- 12:27Speaker 7: was like, oh, I'm getting traded today.
- 12:29Speaker 5: You never think it's going to happen to you. I mean,
- 12:31Speaker 5: it's part of the game.
- 12:32Speaker 7: But it happened, and you know all these things, is
- 12:36Speaker 7: what I said.
- 12:39Speaker 6: Yeah, that's beautiful.
- 12:40Speaker 4: I love it. I just want to ask one more.
- 12:42Speaker 6: I want to ask one more seriously, because you you know,
- 12:44Speaker 6: you went through some ups and downs and a lot
- 12:45Speaker 6: of scrutiny. Seriously, how much fun is it waking up
- 12:48Speaker 6: every day and driving to a ballpark knowing that you're
- 12:52Speaker 6: going to play some meaning for baseball down the STRETCHS Like,
- 12:54Speaker 6: how much fun is.
- 12:54Speaker 4: That for you?
- 12:55Speaker 7: I mean it's so exciting. I mean, you know, you
- 12:58Speaker 7: wake up, you got that little bit extra energy, just
- 13:01Speaker 7: ready to get there. I mean the clubhouse open at
- 13:03Speaker 7: twelve thirty, I bet every guy's in there.
- 13:05Speaker 5: Then you know, it's just a special feeling.
- 13:09Speaker 4: I love it.
- 13:11Speaker 1: Hey, I wanted to ask you off of the SIVALI question.
- 13:15Speaker 1: And first of all, he pitched money on the weekend
- 13:17Speaker 1: for the White Sox, so that's working out for them too.
- 13:19Speaker 1: But do you look back, like how crazy it is
- 13:23Speaker 1: that so many events need to lead up to this
- 13:26Speaker 1: moment where now you're in the thick of a playoff
- 13:27Speaker 1: race with the team that's got the best record in baseball, right,
- 13:30Speaker 1: because it basically came from the Brewers having starting pitching depth. Right,
- 13:36Speaker 1: they have too many good starters, which is probably one
- 13:38Speaker 1: of two or three teams in all of baseball that
- 13:40Speaker 1: have that problem.
- 13:41Speaker 2: The rest of them are desperately looking for them.
- 13:42Speaker 1: That turns into a starter wanting a starting spot, that
- 13:46Speaker 1: turns into him going to the White Sox and you
- 13:48Speaker 1: ending up here.
- 13:50Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, definitely crazy. Like I said, it's been
- 13:53Speaker 7: a world win. You know, get sent a triple A Charlotte,
- 13:56Speaker 7: end up getting traded, get sent to Nashville, you know,
- 13:59Speaker 7: unfortunately to reach but you know, got my opportunity and
- 14:02Speaker 7: my biggest fote was just get here and help the
- 14:04Speaker 7: team win. They were already rolling. So it's like I
- 14:06Speaker 7: just want to plug in and do what I can.
- 14:11Speaker 1: One more for me, Andrew, do you notice anything different
- 14:15Speaker 1: or unique about the way that the Brewers organization runs.
- 14:18Speaker 1: I know you've been there quick, right, But a lot
- 14:20Speaker 1: of our guys, and I'm the only non player, most
- 14:22Speaker 1: of the guys on this show play the game for
- 14:24Speaker 1: a long time. They'll tell me how they see something different.
- 14:27Speaker 1: Cam can speak to this too. The Brewers are playing
- 14:29Speaker 1: a style of baseball that's very different from many other
- 14:32Speaker 1: teams in the game. It's not all exit velocity of session.
- 14:35Speaker 1: Obviously stuff to be a big leaguer, but we're seeing
- 14:38Speaker 1: things that, actually, I can comment from a fan perspective,
- 14:41Speaker 1: are generally more fun to watch. So it's clean defense,
- 14:44Speaker 1: it's good base running. What have you noticed, Like, how
- 14:47Speaker 1: do you get a team to play like that? Of
- 14:48Speaker 1: course you need the personnel, but how do you get
- 14:50Speaker 1: a team to play that way?
- 14:53Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 14:53Speaker 7: I think it's just everybody buying in, you know, that's
- 14:56Speaker 7: the biggest thing.
- 14:56Speaker 5: Guys just putting.
- 14:58Speaker 7: It out on the line, just doing any during that
- 15:01Speaker 7: game to win, whether it's a bond, whether it's a
- 15:03Speaker 7: hit and run, you know, making a good play, just
- 15:06Speaker 7: all aspects of the game.
- 15:07Speaker 5: And I feel like everybody here bought into that.
- 15:12Speaker 3: Yeah, I was gonna touch on something kind of off topic,
- 15:14Speaker 3: here that maybe a lot of people don't understand. You know,
- 15:17Speaker 3: I was traded a couple of times in my career.
- 15:19Speaker 3: It's very difficult the first time. It gets a little
- 15:22Speaker 3: bit easier the second time. But for us, it's just
- 15:25Speaker 3: playing baseball. But behind every player is a great wife. Lexie,
- 15:29Speaker 3: your wife. How is she making the adjustment to Milwaukee?
- 15:32Speaker 3: I know, you guys had a you know, a big
- 15:34Speaker 3: footprint in the city of Chicago. You guys did a
- 15:36Speaker 3: lot of things, charitable things off the field. How is
- 15:39Speaker 3: she settling into a new town.
- 15:41Speaker 7: Yeah, you know, it's been a world win for both
- 15:43Speaker 7: of us. You know, she's loving it. She's excited. She's
- 15:47Speaker 7: meeting all the wives and you know, getting connected, because
- 15:49Speaker 7: that's a big part of it too. I mean there
- 15:52Speaker 7: are families, but you know, our goal is we have
- 15:54Speaker 7: to go play baseball. But what goes on behind the scenes,
- 15:57Speaker 7: Like she's finding us a place to live, moving furnit sure,
- 16:00Speaker 7: shipping cars, doing all this stuff, and it's I mean,
- 16:04Speaker 7: we can't do it without them.
- 16:05Speaker 5: I mean, you guys can attest to that.
- 16:08Speaker 4: Yeah, I love that.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Man.
- 16:10Speaker 6: Shout out to all the wives out there who, like
- 16:11Speaker 6: you said, people don't know what they really do.
- 16:13Speaker 4: They really become our personal assistants at time. They really do.
- 16:16Speaker 4: And I sacrifice so much.
- 16:18Speaker 6: I don't want to keep it on the high note
- 16:20Speaker 6: because just like KP, I was traded quite a few times. Uh,
- 16:23Speaker 6: And you're always trying to you know, you know, buy
- 16:26Speaker 6: into the new culture and fit in.
- 16:28Speaker 4: Who's been the guy? Early on you said you're going
- 16:30Speaker 4: fishing today? A five? Like, who's been the guy.
- 16:32Speaker 6: That you connected with pretty quickly in that clubhouse that
- 16:35Speaker 6: you're like, Okay, this is you know, I'm bobbing with everybody,
- 16:38Speaker 6: but like, this is my guy.
- 16:39Speaker 4: Who's who's welcoming you with open arms? And who you
- 16:41Speaker 4: really vibbing with right now?
- 16:43Speaker 6: Yeah?
- 16:43Speaker 7: I think the only guy I knew off playing baseball
- 16:46Speaker 7: was I met Terrang a few years ago. You know,
- 16:49Speaker 7: he got a brand new puppy and it was a
- 16:50Speaker 7: great day. Brought it over to my house in Arizona
- 16:52Speaker 7: when I used to live there, and just kind of
- 16:54Speaker 7: had that little connection, you know, went and talked to him,
- 16:56Speaker 7: asked him some questions like what do we do here?
- 16:59Speaker 5: What we got?
- 17:00Speaker 7: You know, gravitated towards him. But I mean the whole group, man,
- 17:03Speaker 7: they just woke me with open arms.
- 17:05Speaker 5: It was awesome.
- 17:06Speaker 4: Hey, real quick the off of that, real quick? What
- 17:08Speaker 4: did he tell you?
- 17:09Speaker 6: Because I remember getting going to the Astros and I
- 17:11Speaker 6: kind of the same thing. I asked George Springer. I'm like, hey, like,
- 17:14Speaker 6: you know, I was a big workout guy, and I'm
- 17:16Speaker 6: you know, I go in the weight room and like
- 17:17Speaker 6: nobody's going really in the weight room, And I asked
- 17:19Speaker 6: George Springer, I'm like, hey, like, what what do we
- 17:21Speaker 6: do here?
- 17:22Speaker 4: Like what's the like, what's the flow?
- 17:23Speaker 6: He just goes hit or get left behind, dude, Like,
- 17:26Speaker 6: we don't really overthink anything.
- 17:27Speaker 4: We just played baseball.
- 17:28Speaker 6: Like what did he give you on the Brewers when
- 17:30Speaker 6: you ask like, hey, what what to expect?
- 17:33Speaker 7: Be ready at seven? I mean, that's that's the biggest thing.
- 17:36Speaker 7: I feel like, that's that's.
- 17:38Speaker 5: The most important thing.
- 17:39Speaker 7: Not going out checking boxes, just getting in there as
- 17:41Speaker 7: soon as the lights come on, just play ball.
- 17:44Speaker 4: Play like in the end of the all.
- 17:48Speaker 2: I like that line a lot.
- 17:50Speaker 5: That's good.
- 17:50Speaker 2: That's good. They might have to give you another T
- 17:52Speaker 2: shirt in September with that one on it.
- 17:56Speaker 3: Keep breaking breaking.
- 17:58Speaker 1: Yeah, stuff, man, thanks for joining us. Have an awesome
- 18:02Speaker 1: day off. Hanging out later there on the trip.
- 18:04Speaker 4: With the l Make sure you post whatever you cant.
- 18:07Speaker 4: We need to see it man, or see the KP.
- 18:09Speaker 4: He'll post it.
- 18:10Speaker 3: Hey, he's a master. He's a master. I know he's not.
- 18:13Speaker 3: He's not getting shut out. I've been getting shut out
- 18:15Speaker 3: every day. I stink it fishing.
- 18:18Speaker 5: Need some lessons. I'll come show you something.
- 18:20Speaker 4: Thank you.
- 18:21Speaker 2: Yeah, private tutor. You got to hire him in the
- 18:24Speaker 2: off season. Andrew, thank you. Appreciate you. Keep crushing it man.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Thanks, guys, appreciate it.
