- Speedcafe Team: And This week on Full Credit to the Noise. The other Kimmy is robbed at Silverstone. Charles Leclerc breaks a bigger drought than Cameron Waters. And we preview to Woomba, Townsville, whatever. Welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. Well hello, good morning, good afternoon, good evening, and welcome to Full Credit to the Noise. You can find this podcast on Twitter, Instagram and Facebook at FCTTN Podcast. You can find me on Instagram, Twitter, Blue Sky, and Facebook at Former underscore legend. You can find the bike across me on Twitter at AVL underscore motorsport. He's on Instagram at AVL.motorsport. He's the man who this week revealed that the upcoming Sherry Ute will be known as the Sherry Van Lewen. He has returned from the Taylor Swift and Travis Kelsey's wedding this weekend and tonight. He's wearing skinny leg jeans. Welcome to Speed Cafes, Andrew Van Lewen. Hello, former. I can assure you I'm not wearing skinny leg jeans. I'm actually wearing a combination of sand and midgi bites while on a camping holiday in the lead up to Townsville. I ducked over to far north Queensland a little bit earlier. ⁓ and I'm currently sitting on the west coast of Cape York Peninsula in a place called Marpoon, which is ⁓ a very long way north. And ⁓ yeah, it's pretty cool. It's ⁓ probably it's the wildest place I've definitely podcasted from before, I'll tell you that much. You've said you buried bodies there before. How is the sand? Is it still I reckon you could disappear out here and no one would find you for a very long time. Don't worry about that. That comment's been made a few times ⁓ by the travelling crew that we're with. So ⁓ it's ⁓ Wolf Creek territory, is that where we're we're talking? It has that feeling about it. Don't worry about that. Now listen, I you probably being where you are, isolated from the world, have you heard anything about the World Cup? ⁓ yes, have ⁓ still been following along as best as possible, but given the fact that the Aussies and the Germans and the Dutch are all gone, the three teams that I normally ⁓ follow, I don't need to be that interested anymore, I guess. Yeah, well I'm gonna say the the Socceros robbed us the whole country of sleep on on Saturday morning. Yep. I was very surprised at your sub stack though that said the Socceros let the country down. I thought that you were pretty harsh on ⁓ there, but fair enough. ⁓ the Poms, well they beat Mexico this afternoon despite ⁓ the locals playing marching bands out the front of their hotel for twenty four hours and letting fireworks off all night. But this, the Yanks, this might surprise you, knock me down with a feather, but Donald Trump seems to have compromised FIFA. Jeez battle of wits there. ⁓ by putting pressure on them and getting their star striker, Falaran Bulligan, ⁓ off a one w ⁓ one game suspension, so he's right to play next game. Aville, tell me. Is the biggest toothless tiger in world sport the FIFA Ethics Committee? It may well be, yes. It's ⁓ it's yeah. Although I guess once we've just seen the ⁓ president of the FIA driving a Lego go kart around Silverstone as part of the driver's parade, then ⁓ maybe there's some competition in town in terms of ⁓ crazy things that governing bodies do. Well let's get on that. We'll go to the shift cut because yeah, there was a fair bit happen over at Silverstone. ⁓ And yeah, it was the Silverstone Grand Prix AVL. ⁓ We'll just quickly go through sprint qualifying. Lewis was on pole. So it's I thought this yo-yo effect was when cars went slow and fast in a lap, but this seems to be slow one week, fast the next for Ferrari, because this week they were on it and Lewis got on pole from the other Kimmy ⁓ and Max. ⁓ the Hall monitor could do no better than fifth in the in the race, the sprint race, the other Kimmy passed Lewis after six laps and was never headed. I tell you, he is impressive out in front. He doesn't make mistakes, he looks the goods. ⁓ Lando was third in that race, so that was Saturday ⁓ morning done, Saturday afternoon qualifying. George went off in Q one but got back to Pitts and ⁓ back out to make Q two. Paul went to the other Kimmy from the two Ferraris, but this time it was Charles Leclerc ahead of Hamilton and then the hall monitor, Isaac Hadger outqualified Max Verstappen by grabbing fifth. So that was qualifying all done. The McLaren's weren't very fast. They were like the worst of the top four teams. Then we got to the Grand Prix. And it was looking like a win was heading to the other Kimmy on fresh tires. He only had to get past Charles, which looked like a a fate a complete. But ⁓ a front suspension problem forced him into a late pit stop or two pit stops with an ailing car. Max Verstappen was comfortably in third at that stage before he appeared to lose control of his Red Bull, although it was later ⁓ found to be ⁓ an issue with the car itself, similar to the one he had ⁓ the week before in qualifying at Austria. He entered Stowe just four laps from the end, and the car got away from him. That forced the safety car out. While they picked up Max's car, however, the race never went green again. And for the first time since 2024, Charlotte Claire won a Grom a Formula One race, beating home George Russell, who grabbed possibly the worst second placing in Grand Prix history. Lewis was third from Lando and Hadjar. Liam Lawson kept his points scoring streak going. He finished in sixth. But it a miserable afternoon ⁓ w that was capped off with an eleventh for Oscar Piastri. He had a basically a nose cone, wiped out in the first lap, came into pits, was basically dead last, and fought back to eleventh, one spot from the points. That's pretty much what happened. I don't know how much you saw from ⁓ where you are. ⁓ I've seen ⁓ I've seen bits and pieces of the race and obviously sort of got some bearings around how it all kind of played out. Obviously just how do you feel if you're Kimmy Antonelli right now? Because The positives are that he's just so quick all of the time. Like he just has George's measure. But you know, he's dropped forty something points in the last two ⁓ is it the last two races? When we know Spain between Spain and and and Silverstone now, like that's a lot of points to drop through things that are completely out of your control effectively. ⁓ and then George gets that massive free kick with the fact that they didn't pit at the end there. ⁓ he would have been a sitting duck if the race did restart even for a lap, but it didn't. ⁓ and he scores a whole bunch of points and suddenly the championship doesn't you know, it's it's nowhere near the the Chasmine points that it was just a handful of rounds ago where it looked like Kimmy couldn't be beaten, you know, and it's not totally dissimilar to what we s kinda saw last year with ⁓ you know, Oscar Piastro being so far ahead of Lando Norris at one point and then that gap really quickly closing. But in that case, you know, we know that it was either mistakes from Oscar or, you know, lack of pace here and there and and and and some tough Rounds whereas Kimmy's really not doing anything wrong, but his points gap's just evaporating through, you know, failures and and things like that. So I guess the positive out of that is that he's still the quicker Mercedes driver. And hopefully he can just hold his nerve and go, all right, if I just th this stuff has to stop happening. If I just plug on, I can actually beat this guy and still become world champion. Yeah, and I think that's the difference between this year and last year, mate, is that Oscar kind of Lost pace or Lando found pace, whereas this is a different kettle of fish. It's just he's just getting bad luck after bad luck. And I noticed after the race George was asked whether the luck was now even because George was kicking stones around the car park three races ago saying the world's against him and he said, No, I still think I'm owed ten points somewhere. So ⁓ in the world of George he's still been ripped off. Yeah, that's that's wild because ⁓ yeah, the the lo that's those Spanish and Silverstone races have just been the biggest free kicks in the So ⁓ so yeah, no, I think he's the one with the luck going his way. And like I said, he hasn't had the pace since the first race of the season. He's been the second best Mercedes driver. So he's lucky to be as close as he is. ⁓ furious, Max Verstappen delivered a damning verdict of his current Red Bull after crashing out with four to go. His frustration was immediate over team radio as he came to rest. He said, and I quote, I'm stuck, mate. F this car, f unbelievable. this. Verstappen later said the incident was caused by a rear wing failure with the issue producing the same outcome as his crash ⁓ in qualifying at the Austrian Grand Prix. He said, when I mean it I mean when it happens one time you know that can happen, faults happen, but two times it's getting pretty dangerous for me because you can really hurt yourself at these high speed corners when it happens. Gut feel I reckon he's on the move. Look, it just it feels like it's just a roller coaster of ⁓ this whole will Max stay or will he go sort of thing and it feels like it turns a corner and he's suddenly happier with the With the regulations and he's happier with the Red Bull car and you know, he was pretty circumspect after Austria in saying, you know, okay, we were good here, but let's wait and see what kind of happens down, you know, in the in the next few tracks when we get to different tracks. But yeah, I just I I I mean, you know my thoughts on this. I think he stays, ⁓ because I think that better Formula One driver's pretty cool and I think he deep down still wants to be a Formula One driver. But yeah, the the whole the whole cycle of Willy Woney just carries on and that radio message was amazing. Like to be to be that angry ⁓ over what you know is a you know gonna be a broadcast message was that was a message all right. When your car let's go twice in two weeks and it you're put you're in a wall both occasions or in sand at least. I mean you can you can feel his frustrations and like he's not been a fan of this the whole time. So yeah, it's just ⁓ s stacked upon each other the amount of frustration Max is for Hill at the moment. And meanwhile Just to add to that, he criticized Formula One's Lego drivers parade at the British Grand Prix, claiming drivers should not look like kids and clowns during the pre-race build-up. The Red Bull driver said the Silverstone activation was not what Formula One needs as he joined Lewis Hamilton in raising concerns over the format, which has seen all 22 drivers compete ⁓ the parade in individual drivable Lego minicars. The cars are capable of, get this, 25 kilometers an hour, and we use during the driver's parade. Ahead ⁓ on Sunday's British Grand Prix. He said, I prefer to stand on a truck just with everyone together. I think that's more fun. I also think it looks far more professional. ⁓ when asked whether he was generally concerned about the risk of injury, Lewis Hamilton said there was more to discuss away from the public forum. He said that's not really much to say on that car thing. That's something I would need to take offline. Multiple cars got bogged in the parade, ⁓ as in the ⁓ leaving drivers stand ⁓ stranded and laughing as the parade. Briefly descended into good natured chaos for the record AVL. Fernando Alonso won the Lego car challenge. Insert any jokes you have about Aston Martin just here. It's an interesting thing, this one. I I I kind of I look at those comments from Max and and on one hand I really understand it, because you know, we want to present these guys as these gladiators and these mighty men that tame these thousand horsepower machines and drive around at 360 kilometers an hour. But on the other hand, a lot of the drivers seem to absolutely love it and it always creates all of this kind of additional content and then obviously it's commercialized as well through Lego. So it just makes sense on so many fronts that I know exactly why they do it. Even though I kind of I instinctively want to side with Max, you sort of go, well, hang on a minute. The drivers seem to like it. The personality of the drivers is the thing that has driven the popularity of F1. So why don't we showcase that? You know, and they drive around with helmets on. This is the always the problem with building the personalities and the celebrity around race car drivers. So I I think that the modern way of looking at it is just that it is actually a good thing for the drivers and a good thing for the sport. Yeah. I I actually s heard his comments and went, Yeah, I get ya, man. I feel I feel ya. But the one I didn't get was Lewis Hamilton worried about injury at twenty five kilometers an hour. I mean Yeah. Lance Strahl ⁓ Alonso can only dream of those speeds at the moment, so exactly. Let's talk about Philip Island, 'cause their future or the future of the circuit is safe, despite the impending loss of two of its marquee events, according to Andrew Fox. ⁓ the managing director of the Lynn Fox property group that owns the venue has spoken out following a claim that the circuit could be converted to a golf course. Bob Barnard, who is responsible for bringing Moto GP to Phillip Island eighty nine this week, expressed fears for the venue's future amid the the loss of the event. The track is definitely not for sale and we have no interest in building a golf course on our land at Phillip Island. Fox told Australian motorcycle news Mark Bracks. Nor is it on the market. It never has been. The land will definitely remain a racetrack in relation to talk of a golf course. The last time that was proposed, ⁓ on adjacent land to the track, the council voted against it. From memory that was a Greg Norman course, by the way. It may well be, but gee, you'd like to see a marquee event or two run down there to feel like there is some surety around its future, wouldn't you? I mean it's a privately owned venue, so it's its future is entirely in the hands of the owners ⁓ and no one else. So the kind of loss of the marquee events is, you know, ⁓ will be disappointing if you are the owner of the circuit that, you know, rents it out to these promoters to run these events. But ultimately, yeah, the circuit's still in use a lot. They shouldn't be make or break things for the future of the circuit. So yeah, that's entirely in the Fox family's hands as to what happens with it, whether they have a big event or not. I guess the the great shame of not having a marquee event there is the fact that it is just such a wonderful circuit and it's such a shame that they don't have something like that. But you know, there's been a bit of chat about, you know, beefing up the historic event there and turning that into a bigger festival and that sort of stuff. So let's let's just wait and see. And remember there is still talk that, you know, the AGPC and supercars are trying to work together on a supercars event down there that could be on the calendar as soon as next year, but that's all gonna hinge. On the TRC negotiations around ⁓ payments for additional rounds. ⁓ well let's talk about the Moto GP silly season because it is one for the ages. Moto GP champion Fabio Quaderaro and his teammate Alex Rinns will not return to Japanese racing joint Yamaha in twenty seven. An announcement from Yamaha had been long anticipated with Quadararo long pinned to make a move to Honda. Rinns meanwhile admitted in April that he would not be returning. Yamaha replaced ⁓ one Moto GP champion with another. For 27, with confirmation that Jorge Martin will join the squad. Martin, who currently rides for the Factory Aprilia squad, will be joined at Yamaha by trackhouse incumbent Ai Ogura. ⁓ the pair have signed on two year deals following Yamaha's announcement of a completely revamped ⁓ rider lineup. Grossini Racing has followed suit, confirming two new riders for 2027 for them as well. Grossini's new pair includes the first year rookie for the year, which is Moto 2 rookie Daniel Helgado. He makes the step up to the pinnacle of motorcycle racing, and Grassini have also announced the signing of 2020 Moto GP World Champion Joan Mir. That's on top of Alex Marquez going to KTM and just a bunch of other movement. It's extraordinary. I don't think we've seen anything like it. Definitely not down this way. Kiwis and Aussies overseas AVL, IndyCar, mid Ohio was a real bad weekend for Aussies and over Kiwis. Willpower qualified third. That was about the highlight for anyone from this way. ⁓ in the race Paddo Award won, Power grab sixth, Armstrong 14th, McLaughlin sixteenth, and Dixon seventeenth in a shocker. In a huge return to Earth after his Sonoma domination. Shane Van Gisbergen qualified thirtieth and the slowest of the shit house sorry, track house chefs for the Proud Boys four hundred at Chicagoland. In the race, SVG triggered the third caution when contact with Austin Hill tipped him into a high speed spin. Could have been deliberate. ⁓ but not if you've seen it's amazing. SVG ended up running twenty-fifth in a race won by Chase Briscoe. And before we head to a break, AVL, I know that you'll join me in this and saying Vale to Robbie Francivic, ⁓ Proud Kiwi, who won the nineteen eighty-six Australian Touring Car Championship in a Volvo. He died at the age of eighty-four today. Francovic contested just three more ATC rounds after winning the championship, ⁓ all aboard Ford Sierras. So in twenty two career starts, he won a title. So which that's extraordinary. ⁓ we'll go to a break and we'll come back and preview the Toowoomba five hundred. Credit to Winter could spell bad news for your vehicle's battery. Here are three maintenance tips from the battery gurus at RNJ Batteries. 1. Avoid frequent short trips to keep your battery at a healthy state of charge. 2. Keep the battery terminals clean and corrosion free. 3. Avoid running your accessories with the engine off for too long. If your battery is three years or older, it might be time to get it tested for free at your local RJ Batteries. RJ Batteries Power. Like nothing else. Yes, welcome back. ⁓ let's preview the NTI Toowoomba five hundred AVL. I won't have it called anything else. The schedule this weekend, Friday is qualifying and then race 20, which is 35 laps. Saturday there's qualifying, a shootout, and race 21, which is 68 laps. Same again on Sunday, rinse and repeat. Weather, top temperature of 23 degrees, U Beauty AVL. ⁓ supports there will be Porsche Michelin sprint. Toyota GR Cup, which are the 86ers, obviously. Aussie racing cars and touring car masters. What else is on? Well, there's a Tractor Town on Thursday. On Saturday night, there's Pro Bull riding, and Tory Dark is performing. your favourite Tory Dark song, AVL? I have absolutely no idea. The Pro Bull riding was epic fun last year, but so that's definitely something worth going that ⁓ to go to check out if you are there for the event. ⁓ I'll be doing that. But I have never heard of Tory Dark before. So if that's on the on the Saturday as well, I might just head into town for a Be here after the bull riding, I Do you want to why don't you ask me what my favorite Tory Dark songs are? What's your favourite Tory Dark song? Listen, I like ⁓ My Boots Made Me Do It from ⁓ obviously from 2025. You better run from 2011 was one of the better ones. Pick Me Up ⁓ from 2022. Sittin A Bar was a great song from 22 as well. And Someone Else's Baby from 2011. She has got a quite the catalogue and she's from Camden, so get around her. ⁓ like I said, the weather forecast tops at twenty three, or as the English call it, an absolute heat wave. That's cool that's cooler than I thought it ⁓ it might be. It can it can usually be a little bit warmer than that. So ⁓ yeah, that'll be interesting. Is there any I've I hadn't looked at the weather. Is there any rain on the not a not a drop. All right. ⁓ twenty three and sunny, that's pretty nice. Yep, dry as a nuns. ⁓ predictions. What's your prediction for the podium for the weekend? I just I f I c can't go past Groves at the moment. Like I really feel like Payne and Alan will be ⁓ in the mix all weekend. They just don't seem to have any weaknesses at the moment. They ⁓ they're just going so good. ⁓ and I've put Brock Feeney in there just because I think that Triple Eight this is another one of those interesting test cases for Triple Eight because this is traditionally such a strong track for them, like Darwin is, like Tasmania is, and we haven't necessarily seen them be as dominant as they usually are, or they usually were when they were running GM hardware ⁓ since that switch to Ford. So ⁓ it'll be interesting to see if they've learnt anything about how to adapt what they used to do with what they're doing now. ⁓ and they can sort of go to one of their traditional strongholds and a and be as dominant as they used to be. So they'll have Chuck Feeney in there to I don't know, b have a little optimism around what they're doing. My podium is Woody 'cause I think the Toyota's might be strong here given that they're not it's not a high, high end ⁓ top speed circuit. I'll but I'll put waters in to continue the form. Let's just see whether that is just a blip on the radar or whether he can continue it. And as you see, I can't go past Matty Payne. I think he'll be there or thereabouts all weekend. Shootout poll, there's what do you got for the shootouts and the poll on pole on Friday, two shootouts Saturday. What do you got? Well, I'll just put Matt Payne as my four man across goal. I'll go waters, water's Woody. So your best Ruffy. I bet you my Ruffy's not the same as yours. I think I use this one for Darwin, but I'm gonna roll it out again. I'll go with ⁓ with Juso Jada. He's just in that perfect sort of roughy zone at the moment where you never quite know what he's gonna do. Well, the same with mine, Reynolds. Reynolds has gone good here on occasion, so I'll I'll I showed speed there, so I'll have Dave as my roughie. Safety cars over the weekend. I've got one. I'll go with one a race. So three. Three. What's your unlikely headline from the weekend? Mad Cow Tavern devoid of any ⁓ major Sunday night parties, which is obviously a lie because we are hosting the Speed Cafe party there on the Sunday night. ⁓ so again, if you're in town, make sure you head down to the Mad Cow because It is one of the best Sundays of the year. My unlikely headline is annual meeting of Bundaberg Rum haters club. Enjoy supercars meeting, smashing the waters all afternoon. So if this is the answer, what's the question? The answer is Brody Kastecki. What's your question? ⁓ who has racked up the biggest physio bill since Darwin? Mine is which driver's cool suit will be undergoing more quality assurance checks than a space shuttle's flight? No, that's good. If this is the answer, what's the question? The answer is all five supras. I don't have one. I don't no, I don't know. What do you got? ⁓ this is a bit mean, but which cars are stopping Jackson Walls and Andrew Jones from collecting trophies as well as other Camaros and every Mustang? That is pretty mean. All right. Let's go to a break. I know that you're running out of battery and technology catching up with us. We'll return after the break with credit shredded. Yes, welcome back to Rear of Grid. ⁓ as we were discussing off air, if you want to get amongst a bunch of like minded people and talk about rac ⁓ car racing, join the FC T T N Club and you'll get into Discord where last night it was busy as a one armed ⁓ no I'm not gonna say that anyway. ⁓ it's out of that's ⁓ poor taste even for me. ⁓ But yeah, it's good to I've actually I've I've missed I've missed the Discord. I've had very limited connectivity through my travels over the last ⁓ five days or so. And I've kind of ⁓ yeah, I've missed hanging out the Discord, so I'm looking forward to getting to Townsville, having some regular internet slash mobile network and being able to rejoin the fun. Do yourself a favour, don't search your name in the time that you've been away. I'm gonna do some credit or shredders. I'll make a statement. You tell me whether you agree or do some either credit or shredded. After six we'll come back and revisit any of ⁓ Number one. Drivers own grandstands are just a way to milk money from fans through patriotism. ⁓ shredd it. Credit. Oscar Piastri would be crazy to go to Red Bull if the offer was made. Shred it. Number three Aston Martin should throw the house at signing Christian Horner. Shredd it. Credit. Jesus. Number four. Five hundred and sixty four thousand people attended the British Grand Prix for an all time F one record. That is proof that the current car configurations are a massive success. Shred it. Shredd. Number five. Finishing under a safety car should not be possible in any form of motorsport. ⁓ shred it. On principal credit. Number six, once again, not featuring super cheap autos, Dodgers employee in their latest best performing oils ad is a national disgrace and may have that employee considering his allegiances. Clear credit. Credit. Right. Driver's own grandstands. I mean, they look great. Lando's looks very much like Rossi's, to be honest, but ⁓ isn't it just milk and money? No well, I think it's basic marketing. Like It sounds so much better saying it's the Lando Norris stand than the turn thirteen grandstand or whatever. So I think it's just really the best way to market the the the grandstands. I I think it's yeah, I don't think it's any I don't think there's anything cynical behind it. I think it's just smart marketing. Oscar Piastri would be crazy to go to Red Bull if the offer was made. I think I agree with this. I mean, 'cause just 'cause if he goes there alongside Max, we just know that's a really tough gig. And if he goes there to replace Max, you're heading into a rebuilding phase and I think McLaren is potentially the better bet and the better fit for him. But I guess if the offer to go there and lead the team was there, then yeah y you would probably consider it. But I I yeah, I I'm not I'm not sure I can see it. I said shred it, but then you use the word rebuilding phase, and as a follow of a rugby league team that's been rebuilding for the past fifteen years, that's ⁓ that's got me a bit a little bit of PTSD to be honest. Yeah. I said shredd it, but only if Max wasn't there because you wouldn't go there if Max was there. I don't know. Ne, you got me doubting that one. Aston Martin should throw the house at signing Christian Horner. I just don't think that's the answer to their problems at the moment. What is? Okay, they've got a chassis and arrow and engine problem. So like and I don't think Christian's gonna fix any of those things. And they've apparently got the best guy at Chasszy and Arrow there already and and one of the world's biggest car makers doing the motor, so I just don't ⁓ I don't see how Christian Horner actually helps that that set up except and you can just imagine him and Lawrence Stroll just the clashes of ego and personality there. Like ⁓ yeah, I d I I don't think it's a a a good fit. Yeah. Apparently he's releasing a tell all book Avial ⁓ I'll give a man a tip. I bet you won't be telling everything. The record crowd shows that the ma current car configurations are a massive success. No, I look I I think that's due to the general F one popularity, which is still growing, but it's nothing to do with the cars. You could argue that it's in spite of the cars, not because of them. So I just think it's just, yeah, where where the sport is at and how big it's got. And poor Adelaide finally loses F one's attendance record. A record it held for very many years. I I j I th I'm I'm with you on that one. I just think that and most of these tickets would have been sold last year before these configuration was understood and and seen, so a lot of those tickets would have been pre-sold. And and five hundred thousand of the five hundred and sixty four thousand people there are there for the car racing. So they really don't care if the cars have batteries or don't or whatever. Yeah. Finishing under a safety car should not be possible. I said shredded no, I said credit, but I can see why it shouldn't either. It's an interesting debate and but it's it's one of those debates that's on our mind right now 'cause what we had a supercars race in Darwin and then the F one race Last night finish under ⁓ safety car. So it it's one of those things that feels like a bigger problem in your general circuit racing championships than it is. In NASCAR, it makes perfect sense to have rules built around avoiding it because of how many cautions they have during a race. But it's it's actually quite rare that it happens in supercars. And for that reason, to me it's not something we need to rush and fix, even though it does kind of suck when it happens. And then there's obviously issues with How much extra fuel do you run in case this happens? Or, you know, like I don't know. May it could create some incredible drama, I suppose, if it if there's suddenly, you know, a green, white checker or overtime scenario and and everyone runs out of fuel. But it's yeah, it it's it's one of those problems that feels like a big problem when it happens. But then if you think back, it doesn't really happen very often. Most NASCAR fans will hear that it's green and white checkers don't work either. So and once again, I'm not even going to talk about Me and Super Cheap, we're on we're on dodgy ground at the moment. I'll give you the wide oct tip. Our letter of the week comes from Stu in the Discord. He says, First time caller, long time, OG, F C T T N listener. With the impending painter team eighteen, what other signings have been career destroying? Jeez. Lounge to be Ford before ⁓ triple eight obviously. Kelly's to own a driver, ⁓ Murph to P W R, Percat to BJR. There must be some others to zig when they should have zagged. What are your thoughts? It's pretty premature to call call on destroying Matt Payne's career given the fact that ⁓ the deal isn't well, it can't be done 'cause he's still under contract and it's not going to happen till the end of next season anyway and who knows where everyone's kind of at by that point. So that's a let's not go too hard on that, ⁓ just yet even and even with the current form, a a driver as good as Matt isn't going to destroy his career going to a Upper midfield or just you know, ⁓ that's probably how you would describe teammate. He's not gonna destroy his career, particularly in the Gen three era. ⁓ there was a couple others here I didn't fully understand. Like the perk out to B Jr, like I didn't that was a pretty successful an okay move. Yeah, that was well, I I think that was his most ⁓ harmonious and probably happy and and consistently successful time in the championship for Nick. Perk out to WAU, now that was a different story, but he at least got it's got that kind of momentary reprieve and and and ⁓ managed to come back and win a couple races with MSR. So I I'm not gonna sit here and say if the teammate in Matt Payne thing happens, it's gonna destroy his career. It's always just so difficult to say, well, that was a that was a bad move. There's a few that are pretty obvious, and I think Percat to WAU is one of them. And that's not ⁓ putting the blame on either party there. That was just a situation that didn't work. But, you know, there's not a there's not a heap more of really obvious ones. Like Lance DeFord, that was you know, his career ended up pretty good after that. You know, like yes, he didn't win another championship, but he obviously, you know, built a pretty solid financial base and then ended up ⁓ you know, at at the ⁓ most successful team and and you know, winning record breaking amounts of races and and Bathis and and a whole bunch of Bathers. So that wasn't a a career ⁓ killing move. Either really.
