- 0:23Well, the Democrats continue to show us who they are.
- 0:27And I'm not talking about your everyday run of the New Democrat.
- 0:31I'm talking about the Democrat leadership, which has been overrun by those that are on the hard left of the party, the Marxists of the party.
- 0:43It's true.
- 0:44Marxists have overrun the Democrat Party.
- 0:47It's not the Democrat Party of my uncles.
- 0:51They were all God-fearing Democrats.
- 0:54They fought in World War II.
- 0:57They were good men.
- 0:58This is not that Democrat Party.
- 1:00This party has been overtaken, overrun by the hard left, by the Marxist faction of the party.
- 1:11And I've got a story here that's going to it's going to knock your socks off.
- 1:19You're going to be like, what?
- 1:21What in the world are they doing?
- 1:23How are they?
- 1:24How are they in support of what they're in support of?
- 1:28Okay, I just I'm just going to leave it at that.
- 1:30We're gonna we're gonna spend some time with it, and you're gonna wonder how in the world could the Democrats possibly be in support of this.
- 1:40And it's just not, I mean, we're talking a bunch of them.
- 1:43Almost almost half of the states in the union are in support of this.
- 1:50And you're just gonna shake your head.
- 1:52You're you're just gonna, you're gonna be dumbfounded.
- 1:54So we're gonna we're gonna cover that.
- 1:57Yesterday, we got into this poll by the by the Pew Research Center that said, really, a majority of Americans feel like higher education is moving in the wrong direction.
- 2:11And in many areas, namely in cost, that there isn't uh a transparency and cost.
- 2:19Students don't know how much they're gonna pay out for a particular degree, and they further don't know once they have that degree, how much income they will be able to receive from it.
- 2:33There is no data for them readily available for them to determine their return on investment.
- 2:41Uh we talked about that at length.
- 2:44Uh, of course, here at Waterbrook, we we teach our kids how to determine your return on investment.
- 2:51If you're interested in college, we walk them through it.
- 2:54It's part of their senior exit project.
- 2:56They, after deciding what career they might be interested in, they research the career, they research how much it's going to cost for them to get a degree in that career.
- 3:08Then they research the the income that they could potentially make from that career and not only make in general, but in a particular region.
- 3:21Can they make more money in that career living here in Michigan or maybe making more living somewhere else, like a red state, perhaps?
- 3:29We we hold their hands, we walk them through this.
- 3:33Most schools don't do that.
- 3:34Most schools aren't taking the their students through that process.
- 3:40And therefore the kids are left floundering.
- 3:45And uh American parents are upset about it.
- 3:48A majority of them feel like uh this is wrong.
- 3:51Not only in that area do they feel like higher ed is going in the wrong direction, but many of them said in this notion of having free speech on campus, yeah, it doesn't exist.
- 4:03It doesn't exist.
- 4:05So we covered that juxtaposition to that report.
- 4:10Uh the epoch times has a story that came out over the weekend that I had hoped to get to yesterday, and I didn't.
- 4:19It's about a homeschool group who uh in Southern Ohio, the Appalachian foothills of Southern Ohio, how this homeschool group has uh blossomed and grown into this convention, as it were of families coming to to learn stuff to learn how to do hands-on things, life skills, skills that used to be taught.
- 4:47So in juxtabist and juxtaposition to universities not teaching academics well, many individuals are interested in becoming more and more interested in skilled trades or becoming more interested in farming or becoming more interested in things that aren't necessarily in the breadbasket of a college or a university to teach you.
- 5:13Well, this group in the in the Southern Hills of Ohio, this homeschool group, the Heritage Explorers Fest and History Fair, it's what they call it.
- 5:24Uh, and this uh they they teach kids this sort of stuff.
- 5:28This story is fascinating, it's interesting.
- 5:31I'm looking forward to diving into it.
- 5:33Also, at the end of all that, there is a history class, a history class I want to get to today, and it's one that uh is inspiring, it'll motivate you, it'll inspire you, it'll fill your heart with faith and hope.
- 5:52And if you don't have faith and hope, it'll maybe show you how to get faith and hope.
- 5:57Uh, it's um it's a history class that you are not going to want to miss.
- 6:03So stick around for it.
- 6:05I know you're gonna love it.
- 6:07All right, but first, oh, what are the democrats up to?
- 6:12How are they revealing themselves today?
- 6:15Gather around, kids.
- 6:17Let's uh let's let's join in the segment on how are the democrats revealing themselves today.
- 6:25Again, this is the leadership, the hard left, the Marxist leadership of the Democrat Party.
- 6:33So a couple days ago, the Department of Education issued a final ruling regarding the public service loan forgiveness program.
- 6:44Uh, the the department tightened eligibility criteria for employers who are participating in the public service loan forgiveness program.
- 6:56So, some background since 2007, the taxpayer-funded program, the PSLF has discharged the remaining federal student loan balance for borrowers who make 10 years of qualifying payments while working full-time in public service, all right, such as maybe a government agency, uh a qualified nonprofit organization, which qualified is if you're if you're dealing in education, if you're if you're dealing in something that aids the public after 10 years of of making qualified payments, then your your student loan is forgiven.
- 7:45And again, this has been you know something that's been a thing since 2007.
- 7:51Uh under the new rules issued by the Department of Education, which came out October 31st, just a few days ago.
- 8:01Employers that otherwise meet the the program's government or nonprofit requirements could be disqualified if the Department of Education determines that the employer has engaged in activities that have a substantial illegal purpose.
- 8:20Okay, that makes perfect sense, right?
- 8:23Wouldn't you want uh an employer to be disqualified from discounts or freebies or giveaways on the tax dime freebies from American citizens?
- 8:44Wouldn't you want that employer to be disqualified if that employer is engaged in an illegal activity?
- 8:51I would think that you would.
- 9:16Okay, it would include violating federal anti-discrimination laws.
- 9:22I mean, that's good, right?
- 9:23You you don't want uh people who work for a governmental department or a you know, a public non, you know, public service agency or a nonprofit, a school.
- 9:35You don't want them to get their student loans wiped clean if their employer is engaged in discrimination, violating anti-discrimination laws, or if their employer is aiding or abetting illegal immigration, or if their employer is supporting terrorism, or if the employer is trafficking children, or if the employee
- 10:00Is participating in violence during protests.
- 10:02You don't want any of this.
- 10:04I mean, you're okay with with protests, but it's got to be a peaceful protest.
- 10:08You can't be, you know, picking up a pallet of bricks.
- 10:13Of course, if you can pick up a pallet of bricks, you're pretty strong.
- 10:16You can't take bricks off a pallet and chuck them into a storefront window and say that you're protesting peacefully.
- 10:22These are mostful, not mostly peaceful protests.
- 10:27As the city burns to the ground.
- 10:31If we have employers or organizations engaged in this type of illegal activity and illegal behavior, we don't want them qualifying for the public service loan forgiveness program.
- 10:44I think we can all agree on that.
- 10:46We want the rule of law to remain.
- 10:51The rule also would cover hospitals in this regard that it targets these types of organizations to engage in chemical and surgical castration or mutilation of children.
- 11:04We don't want that.
- 11:07Hospitals and medical centers that are nonprofits who engage in this so-called type of what they refer to as gender affirming care or gender affirming surgeries.
- 11:21Um this is now illegal.
- 11:24Okay, Trump has described this as sterilizing in nature, as well as uh you know, also these agencies who would and doctors who would use puberty blockers and sex hormones in order to change a child's physical appearance to align with the child's gender identity.
- 11:45The three-year-old is identifying as Janie.
- 11:49Uh, it differs because he's actually Johnny, but we're gonna we're gonna let this happen.
- 11:55Uh so the Department of Education stated in their in their final ruling that came out just a couple of days ago that the new rules uphold the program's original purpose of supporting Americans who dedicate their careers to public service.
- 12:12This is what we're interested in helping.
- 12:15Americans who dedicate their careers to public service, getting out there and helping the public.
- 12:20Okay, a lot of times those in public service industries, they're not making a ton of cash.
- 12:26So the government's come along and they've said, look, you got 10 years of qualifying payments, we're gonna forgive the debt.
- 12:34If your organization is involved in chemical and surgical castration or muta mutilation of children, the organization is disqualified.
- 12:43So don't work for them, or if the organization is involved in anti-discrimination laws and violating these laws, you're not going to get it.
- 12:53If they're if your organization is interested in aiding or betting illegal immigration, if they're housing illegal immigrants and sneaking them over the border, then no.
- 13:04The answer is no.
- 13:06Or if they're supporting terrorism or trafficking children, or if they're participating in violent protests, the answer is no.
- 13:14All of this makes sense.
- 13:16Doesn't it make sense to you and me?
- 13:18Aren't we like, yes?
- 13:20We 100%.
- 13:22We're on we're on board with this.
- 13:26The Democrats, no man, I just is hilarious to me.
- 13:32The Democrats from 21 blue states and the District of Columbia have sued to block this rule.
- 13:42Okay, they're suing to block a rule that bars employers who are engaged in illegal activities.
- 13:49That's that's what they're suing.
- 13:51Kate 21 states and the District of Columbia.
- 13:56They're they're suing to block the rule that would disqualify employers from a federal student debt relief program based on their activities that may have illegal purposes.
- 14:09I just you want the list.
- 14:12Are you ready for the list of states?
- 14:13Okay, here it is.
- 14:15The lawsuit is led by the attorney general of New York State.
- 14:19We're not surprised by that.
- 14:22We're not surprised at all.
- 14:24Uh the New York Attorney General is joined by attorney generals from or attorneys general, I should say.
- 14:32Attorneys General from Arizona, California, Colorado, Connecticut, Delaware, Hawaii, Illinois.
- 14:41We're going in alphabetical order here, by the way.
- 14:43Maine, Maryland, Massachusetts, Michigan.
- 14:48We're not surprised.
- 14:50Dana Nessel over here in Michigan.
- 14:53Now we're not surprised that she's joining this lawsuit.
- 14:56Minnesota, not surprised, Nevada, nope, not surprised.
- 15:00New Jersey, New Mexico, Oregon, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, Wisconsin, and the dreaded and feared district of Columbia.
- 15:13The attorneys general in these states have said, yeah, no, we're suing.
- 15:21We're suing.
- 15:22And here's why we're suing.
- 15:23The rule is politically motivated.
- 15:26And it's designed to punish employers whose missions the Trump administration does not favor.
- 15:35So are you saying that just unbelievable?
- 15:46I mean, this is a softball.
- 15:48They're just lobbying this softball over the plate.
- 15:51We're gonna crush it.
- 15:53Uh so that the Trump administration, this rule, it's politically motivated.
- 15:59It's designed to punish employers whose missions the Trump administration does not favor.
- 16:04So it's true.
- 16:05The Trump administration does not favor the mission of uh violating anti-discrimination laws.
- 16:12The Trump administration does not favor the mission of aiding or abetting illegal immigration or supporting terrorism or trafficking children or participating in violence during protests or chemically andor surgically castrating or mutilating children.
- 16:29No, we're not in support of employers who have those as their mission.
- 16:38This is the Democrats' defense.
- 16:40It's politically motivated.
- 16:42So in their in their complaint, these 21 states and the District of Columbia have accused the Trump administration of trying to, and here's the quote, okay.
- 16:53They're trying to chill the activities of public service employers by discouraging their employees from what it deems objectionable forms, public service.
- 17:05This this word here, chill, they're chilling the activities.
- 17:08You've heard this a lot.
- 17:09It's a talking point.
- 17:11It's a uh it's it's on the bullet point list.
- 17:14I mean, it comes straight from the ivy ivory tower text messaging service that the Democrats all subscribe to.
- 17:23It's the George Soros text messaging service, and all the Democrat leaders subscribe to it.
- 17:28Sorrow sends out this text, and then everybody just repeats it.
- 17:32They're chilling the activities of public service employees, employers by discouraging their employees from what it deems objectionable forms of public service.
- 17:45Uh yes, we we do.
- 17:49We deem uh violating federal anti-discrimination laws as an objectionable form of public service.
- 17:58It's true.
- 17:59Your complaint is accurate.
- 18:02We deem supporting terrorism as an objectionable form of public service.
- 18:08Let's go down the list.
- 18:09We deem trafficking children as an objectionable form of public service.
- 18:16We deem aiding or abetting illegal immigration as an objectionable form of public service.
- 18:22We deem participating in violence during protests as an objectionable form of public service.
- 18:28You know what else we deem as an objectionable form of public service?
- 18:32Chemically andor surgic surgically mutilating andor castrating children.
- 18:39That is an objectionable form of public service.
- 18:43You're 100% correct.
- 18:44And the judge needs to need to agree with this complaint and say you're right.
- 18:48It is objectionable.
- 18:51Moving forward.
- 18:53Your um objection denied.
- 18:58This is an objectionable form of public service.
- 19:01Period.
- 19:03Period.
- 19:04Oh, but they they didn't stop there.
- 19:06No, they said the only forms of illegality named are cherry are a cherry-picked list of this administration's most disfavored groups and activities, including support for immigrants.
- 19:21No, no, supporting immigrants is not a it's not a disfavored uh activity.
- 19:30No, no, um it's it's a favorite activity.
- 19:34We want to support immigrants.
- 19:36You buffoons left out a very important word in your complaint.
- 19:42The word is illegal.
- 19:44We don't support illegal immigrants.
- 19:47And if there are organizations, nonprofit organizations who do support illegal immigration, guess what?
- 19:55You're not qualified to participate in the public service loan forgiveness program.
- 20:01Because you're participating in the destruction of the rule of law.
- 20:08And when the organization participates in the destruction of the rule of law, the organization should not be able to participate in publicly funded programs.
- 20:20And people in the organization should go to prison.
- 20:25Because they are participating in the destruction of the rule of law.
- 20:30These democrats.
- 20:32The Marxist takeover of the Democrat Party is just I mean, it's just astounding.
- 20:42I I'm astounded by it.
- 20:44And I'm astounded that they're actually saying this in their complaint.
- 20:49The only forms of illegality named are a cherry pick list.
- 20:55Um this administration's most disfavored groups and activities.
- 21:00Okay, uh, the list is cherry-picked.
- 21:02Let's let's go through it again.
- 21:04Uh violating federal anti-discrimination laws, aiding or abetting illegal immigration, supporting terrorism.
- 21:14How is that cherry-picked from your most disfavored group?
- 21:21Oh trafficking children, participating in violence during protests, chemically searched.
- 21:28I mean, how many times do I have to repeat the list?
- 21:31Uh I guess a lot.
- 21:34But yet the Democrats are upset because the list is cherry-picked.
- 21:39A cherry-picked list of the administration's most disfavored groups and activities, including support for immigrants, gender affirming care.
- 21:47It's not gender.
- 21:50Mutilating a child is not gender-affirming care.
- 21:56Okay, convincing Johnny that he's Janey and needs to have a surgery to prove it.
- 22:05It's gender destroying care, which is an oxymoron, because if you're destroying something, you don't really care for it.
- 22:12And that's the point.
- 22:15Uh diversity, equity, and inclusion initiatives, and political protests.
- 22:20You guys are buffoons.
- 22:22You leave out important words.
- 22:25Okay.
- 22:26You can protest all day long.
- 22:27It's in the constitution, but the key word is peaceful.
- 22:30You can't participate in violence.
- 22:33This um I hope this complaint is smacked on immediately.
- 22:39Absolutely immediately.
- 22:40All right, we're up against it.

- 26:34It is a great deal.
- 26:37And it's exclusive for you, listeners here of this network and of this program.
- 26:43All right.
- 26:44So uh the Department of Education, they you know, they've decided look, we're we want to tighten these these rules up.
- 26:54We want to be able to provide uh debt relief to those who have borrowed on student loans if they're in a public service industry, but not if their employer is engaged in illegal activities, and the Democrats are suing them.
- 27:13The Democrats have come along and they've said, We're gonna sue the Department of Education.
- 27:18How dare they tell us that we can't participate in illegal activities?
- 27:22They're cherry picking.
- 27:24That's what they're doing, they're cherry-picking.
- 27:27But in their list, the Democrats list of what's being cherry-picked, they leave out important words in the Department of Education's report in their list of new rules.
- 27:42It refers to illegal immigrants, but the Democrats support immigrants.
- 27:50Um the Department of Education refers specifically to violence in political protests, and the the Democrats they just want to stop political protests, and they the Democrats themselves are removing key vocabulary because it's a war of words.
- 28:12They they redefine words in order to win their arguments, they remove words from their complaints in order to win their arguments.
- 28:20Hopefully, the the judge who's paying attention to this uh is a smart individual.
- 28:28But you don't know, we're not guaranteed that just because somebody has made it to the bench doesn't mean they're a smart individual.
- 28:35I mean, we have a supreme court justice, the highest bench in the land who said she didn't she couldn't define what a woman was.
- 28:44I don't know.
- 28:44I'm I'm not I'm not a biologist.
- 28:47You're a woman.
- 28:49You are a you're a woman.
- 28:52How can you not define what you are?
- 28:54I'm I'm not a biologist.
- 28:58Oh, that's what we're dealing with here.
- 29:01All right, so while this lawsuit's going on from the 21 Democrat states and the District of Columbia, a separate lawsuit was filed in the exact same courthouse in Massachusetts to stop the the this new rule.
- 29:21This this file or this court, this suit was filed by the National Council of Nonprofits, and it's joined by cities.
- 29:31Albuquerque, Boston, Chicago, San Francisco, all of these are cities that are in the states that are where the attorney generals are already suing.
- 29:45So these cities have have piled on with the National Council of Nonprofits.
- 29:51Maybe the National Council of Nonprofits should rename themselves.
- 29:57Maybe they should be called the National Council of
- 30:00Nonprofits engaged in illegal activity, maybe.
- 30:06Also joining this lawsuit, interestingly enough.
- 30:09You're not going to be shocked by this, by the way.
- 30:12Also adjoining is the American Federation of Teachers and the National Education Association.
- 30:20The nation's two largest teachers unions.
- 30:23Yeah, they're they're joining up here.
- 30:26But we don't think this should be a thing.
- 30:29Why?
- 30:30Why our schools should be allowed to promote anything that's on this.
- 30:37We shouldn't be allowed to violate anti-discrimination laws.
- 30:42We should be allowed to uh aid and abet illegal immigration.
- 30:47We this we should be allowed to support terrorism and traffic children.
- 30:53Yeah, your largest public school teachers associations, the two largest.
- 31:00Our climbing on board here.
- 31:03Nicholas Kent is the under-secretary of education.
- 31:07And he is dumbfounded by this, just literally shocked and amazed.
- 31:14Nicholas Kent doesn't know what to do with himself.
- 31:17Here's what he said.
- 31:18It's unconscionable that the plaintiffs are standing up for criminal activity.
- 31:23And you he could have stopped there.
- 31:25He continued.
- 31:26This is a common sense reform that will stop taxpayer dollars from subsidizing organizations involved in terrorism, child trafficking, transgender procedures that are doing irreversible harm to our youngest, most innocent individuals and the population.
- 31:47He said the final rule is crystal clear.
- 31:50The department will enforce neutrality without consideration of the employer's mission, ideology, or the population they serve.
- 32:00We're just we're gonna enforce this neutrally, not yeah, neutral, he said.
- 32:06Uh we're just we just want to put a stop to it.
- 32:11Uh, of course, the final rule uh is building on Trump's executive order.
- 32:17Um, that said that this was from March, his order that said the the PSLF program misdirected tax dollars into activist organizations.
- 32:29Um he said we want to put a stop to this, we want to put a stop to it.
- 32:34We want to thwart any organizations that have substantial illegal purposes.
- 32:41Um, so kudos.
- 32:44Kudos to the Trump team for doing this, and we are not at all shocked and surprised that the Democrats are announcing who they are.
- 32:55The Democrats are saying here, this is what we're in support of.
- 32:59We're in support of illegal activity.
- 33:02We don't think organizations should be punished if they participate in illegal activity.
- 33:07And it's not, again, it's not your normal everyday Democrats.
- 33:11This is the hard left wing of the party, the Marxists that have taken over the Democrat Party within the blue states.
- 33:20They are taking it over and destroying it.
- 33:24We are witnessing the destruction of a of a political party in this country.
- 33:30Now, granted, the political party has um it's always had a proclivity to this sort of self-destruction because this party in particular has always been an anti-Christian party.
- 33:43It's always been a party that hates humanity.
- 33:47This is the party that's supported slavery.
- 33:49This is the party that created the Ku Klux Klan.
- 33:53I mean, it is history is very clear on that.
- 33:58Matter of fact, in order to ignore that truth, the the party's own website removes a chunk of years, the years of the KKK just gone.
- 34:08You don't find it on their website.
- 34:10Nope, you can look at their history and you know, Andrew Jack, we're the party of Andrew Jackson, we're the party of Thomas Jefferson.
- 34:17But when you get to the Civil War era, you know, the Reconstruction era, there's no mention of anything going on in that time frame.
- 34:26I wonder why.
- 34:32Ultimately, and they continue to show us that they're the party of evil because they promote things that are evil.
- 34:42I mean, if you're going to promote something that's evil, guess what?
- 34:46You, my friend, are the party of evil.
- 34:49Okay, so uh again, yesterday we talked about this poll.
- 34:54I want to shift gears here into this this poll that a majority of Americans feel like higher education is going in the wrong direction.
- 35:02It's just, you know, we gotta we gotta pull the brakes on this thing.
- 35:07And mostly because the tuition costs are out of control.
- 35:13The the education that young people are receiving at colleges is not, and universities is not an education of value.
- 35:22And they're being charged up the wazoo for a piece of paper that is essentially worthless.
- 35:30However, uh in southern Ohio, uh a grandmother by the name of Tara Dodril, who homeschoolers her 10-year-old grandson, uh, has created uh a uh an organization, as it were.
- 35:50She calls it the Heritage Explorers Fest and History Fair.
- 35:55Uh, it took place in October.
- 35:58It's an annual event, and it originated from what was the old school survival boot camp, it's what she called it.
- 36:06And it's now the Heritage Skills USA Homesteading Summit.
- 36:11So, what is it?
- 36:12What's it all about?
- 36:14What's the point of it?
- 36:15The summit attracts people from around the country uh who want to learn about things.
- 36:21They might want to learn about butchering or canning or foraging or herbalism or emergency medicine techniques, perhaps, or food preservation or blacksmithing, beekeeping.
- 36:32They might want to learn about things that students and young people used to learn about.
- 36:40She said uh we've lost our way as a society because it's less common to know how to provide your own resources than it was even 75 or 100 years ago.
- 36:52This is what uh her name again is Dodril, Teradodril, who's who's running this organization.
- 36:59Uh, this is what she told the Epoch Times.
- 37:01Look, we've lost our way on this.
- 37:04And and families understand it.
- 37:06Families realize that colleges and universities are training kids in garbage, and they're getting a worthless piece of paper.
- 37:15How about how about they actually learn something of value, something of merit?
- 37:21She said the summit is a hands-on interactive event.
- 37:24You learn better from hands-on experience, and the more you do something, the more comfortable you get.
- 37:30And that applies to children as well.
- 37:33So Dodger will host the camp with her husband Bob.
- 37:36You got to love these two, Tara and Bob.
- 37:39Um, she said that they offered a few classes for children during the boot camp's first year in 2021.
- 37:47There was a bigger turnout, she said, than what they expected, which inspired her to start a homeschool co-op and then develop a homeschool curriculum centered around homesteading.
- 37:58Heritage Explorers now includes the co-op and a membership for curriculum across events based on what she saw as as this need.
- 38:11And this need is what other people are also seeing.
- 38:17Hence her the massive turnout that she said, I didn't, I didn't expect this turnout.
- 38:22But we got it, and so here we are, and we feel like we need to uh we need to run with it.
- 38:27Uh, she said homeschooling and homesteading go hand in hand.
- 38:32She said that they found many homeschoolers and homeschool parents attended the first boot camp, and a lot of homesteaders were interested in homeschooling their kids.
- 38:42It makes sense, she said, that there's a connection between homeschooling and homesteading, both involve independence and self-reliance.
- 38:53Hmm.
- 38:54Independence and self-reliance.
- 38:56Where have we heard that before?
- 38:58Uh, that's I mean, that's straight out of our founding documents.
- 39:02That is a message delivered to us straight from our founding fathers.
- 39:07So here are the numbers since the pandemic of 2020.
- 39:12Uh, homeschooled children uh and families that are homeschooling.
- 39:17This this group has consistently increased in numbers in 2019.
- 39:22There were two and a half million homeschool students in the United States, according to uh prosperity for all, this organization's that that is tracking this.
- 39:33Two years later, by 2021, okay, year coming out of the pandemic, that figure had increased to more than 3.7 million.
- 39:43Umio, where this organization is located, uh, had 53,000 homeschool students in 2023.
- 39:55Only 33,000 in 2019.
- 39:58They had increased a number.
- 40:00Of 20,000 kids.
- 40:02This figure right here out of Ohio is according to the Ohio Department of Education and Workforce.
- 40:08So in a span of 2019 to 2023, you and you had 20,000 kids that left the public school system, presumably, and became homeschooled.
- 40:25Um, and I mean it's true, I guess that some of those were already from homeschooling families that maybe they entered into uh school age.
- 40:34I mean, that's a possibility, but we know that after the the pandemic, post pandemic, there is this massive exodus from public schools.
- 40:44We we we know that as a fact, and according to these organizations here, parents have cited the reasons for their for their wanting to homeschool, including concerns about public school curriculum, public school safety, and a desired for a more tailored education than what public schools offer.
- 41:09Uh it's uh I mean this this story is fascinating here, and I'm I'm looking at the clock, and I feel like I want to spend more time on it, but yet at the same time, I want to get to history class.
- 41:21So let's do this.
- 41:21Let's pause here.
- 41:22We'll come back after the break, and we'll make some decisions as to where we're going.

- 44:58All right.
- 44:59Speaking of really liking it, uh, homeschool families understand the mission.
- 45:06They get it.
- 45:08They they understand the purpose of education.
- 45:11And they realize that it's forming and shaping the soul, first and foremost.
- 45:18It's forming and shaping an education that really revolves and incorporates the child's interests, things that the child is interested in, things the child wants to do.
- 45:32So I'm referring to an article here from the Epoch Times, which is highlighting this homeschool program.
- 45:41It's a it's a conference for homeschool students and homesteaders.
- 45:45It's called the Heritage Explorers Fest and History Fair.
- 45:50In this piece, uh Epoch Times makes note of a uh of a mom by the name of Joy Heisel.
- 46:00Uh Joy drove an hour to get to the Heritage Explorers Conference with her eight-year-old son Carter, who uh she reports she's homeschooled him since he was four.
- 46:12But Joy's journey is interesting.
- 46:16Um she says that she once had a less appreciative perspective of homeschooling.
- 46:27She didn't, you know, she was probably one of those parents.
- 46:30I'm gonna put words in our mouth here that were like, oh, you're homeschooling.
- 46:34You know, chuckle, chuckle, chuckle.
- 46:37Um she felt that because Carter was an only child, he would need the social socialization of a public school classroom.
- 46:46And you know, kids that homeschool, they're they're anti-social, they're they're awkward, they're clueless, they don't get it, they need to be around other kids.
- 46:56Before she gave birth to Carter, she was in elementary school.
- 47:00Uh she taught in an elementary public school in Southern Ohio.
- 47:04She held that post for five years.
- 47:07But she left her her teaching gig in the public school to become a stay-at-home mom.
- 47:12All right.
- 47:13So she, you know, she she stays at home.
- 47:15After a time, she returned back to the classroom, this time as a preschool teacher.
- 47:20She said when she got back, and the article doesn't say how long she was gone, you know, but she was gone for a period of time because she wanted to, you know, stay at home with her little guy before he went to school.
- 47:33So she goes back to teach preschool.
- 47:36Here's what she said.
- 47:38The public school environment had changed.
- 47:41She said in just a few short years, there was more fighting, there was more bullying.
- 47:46And then she makes note of a curriculum change.
- 47:49She said there was this thing that the public schools were teaching called critical race theory.
- 47:56She said teachers tried to get it stopped, but they could they didn't have the power, it remained.
- 48:01And she said, I didn't want my son Carter to be a part of what public school had become.
- 48:08And so she was a she was converted.
- 48:12She was converted to the necessities ultimately of homeschooling.
- 48:17And she said at that point, I left.
- 48:20We pulled out.
- 48:21We went to homeschooling.
- 48:24She said she had 26 first graders, her first year of teaching, and she rarely got one-on-one attention with her students the entire time she taught.
- 48:33But here now, she didn't want her son to be in that same environment in that same situation.
- 48:39And she said, I'm gonna give Carter one-on-one attention.
- 48:44I'm gonna teach him, and not only am I gonna teach him well, but I know him better than anyone.
- 48:50I know him better than any school teacher's gonna know him.
- 48:53She said, This is how how it is with parents and their kids.
- 48:56Parents know them best.
- 48:59Here's what she said.
- 49:00So many kids in a classroom are at different levels and are getting a one-size-fits-all education because teachers don't have the time for personal instruction.
- 49:10She's not wrong about that.
- 49:13The one-on-one attention, she said is more effective.
- 49:16Uh the schedule allows you to give your kids a chance to explore their interests firsthand.
- 49:22And this is this is really one of the important aspects of homeschooling is that yes, the child's gonna learn how to read and read well.
- 49:33The child's gonna learn how to write and write well and learn math and learn it well.
- 49:39But additionally, there's gonna be more time for the child to explore avenues that the child is interested in.
- 49:48Subjects the child wants to learn about.
- 49:51And this is where it just where it becomes exciting.
- 49:54This is where it becomes thrilling because the child has interests, the parent recognizes.
- 50:00As those interests.
- 50:01And the parent starts to steer and guide the child down this particular path.
- 50:07She said the article notes that she lives near the Ohio River.
- 50:12And mom here, Joey says that her son Carter is fond of barges and trains.
- 50:18And when he completes his classwork and the core subjects of math and writing and science and history, then he will go with his mother on adventures to the to the train tracks in the river to watch the barges drift along because he loves it.
- 50:38You think he's going to get that in its local public school.
- 50:41No, he's not going to get it.
- 50:43The teacher's going to say, sorry, little Carter, we can't go down to the river and watch the barges sail by.
- 50:51However, with his mom, he can do this.
- 50:54And she made note that when he becomes old enough, he wants to work on a barge and eventually ascend to captain his own vessel.
- 51:03So he's thinking about this kind of stuff.
- 51:06Now his mom is talking to him about opportunities that could potentially be available to him.
- 51:13Opportunities that fit and shape his interest.
- 51:18You think he's going to get that in a public school?
- 51:21No, he's not.
- 51:22But what's even more important is that mom now has an opportunity to form and shape his heart and soul.
- 51:30He's not going to be inundated with critical race theory.
- 51:33He's not going to be inundated with racism.
- 51:35He's not going to be inundated with strange sexual indoctrinations.
- 51:41Mom is able to form and shape his soul while teaching him to read and write and do math and love history and science and explore things that he's truly interested in.
- 51:56She said of Carter that he knows the schedule of the bargers and trains.
- 51:59So we spend a lot of time watching both.
- 52:02She noted that Carter even has a YouTube channel dedicated to his two main interests.
- 52:08If he had to sit in a building all day at a traditional school, she said, he wouldn't have as much of a chance to learn all the things he's learning.
- 52:17That is huge.
- 52:20That right there.
- 52:28There are so many primary benefits, though.
- 52:30That's one of them.
- 52:33She said they had just recently learned about this heritage event.
- 52:38And when Epoch Times reached out to her that this was her first time visiting the festival on the history fair.
- 52:47And here's what she said about it.
- 52:50Being around other homeschooled children of different ages is good for Carter.
- 52:54On the drive home, he kept talking about how much fun he had because he got to see so many other kids showing their interests.
- 53:01He left feeling inspired.
- 53:05And she added that they joined uh Dadro's co-op and they planned to incorporate some of the curriculum.
- 53:13He left feeling inspired.
- 53:17Because homeschooling allows for that.
- 53:21It gives an opportunity for inspiration.
- 53:25Speaking of inspiration, my friend, let's pause here and let's just go to a brief, a brief history class because sometimes we need inspiration.
- 53:34Sometimes we need to be inspired.
- 53:36Sometimes we need to be motivated.
- 53:38And going back to history is a glorious opportunity for that.
- 53:44Um taking this from the American Patriots almanac.
- 53:50This is uh Bill Bennett's writing.
- 53:53He said on August 5th, 1964, while flying a mission against enemy torpedo boats.
- 54:01Lieutenant Everett Alvarez had become the first American pilot shot down over North Vietnam.
- 54:09He soon found himself in the infamous prison known as the Hanoi Hilton.
- 54:14His starvation diet consisted of a chicken head floating in slimy stew, an animal hoof or a blackbird lying feet up on a plate.
- 54:25Monstrous rats scurried across his tiny cell.
- 54:30As time went on, more POWs arrived.
- 54:32And the North Vietnamese often beat them.
- 54:37They tied them up for days or ratcheted handcuffs around their arms till it felt like hacksaws were biting into their flesh.
- 54:46Many of them did not survive.
- 54:56Here's the command they gave him.
- 54:57They said, You will write a letter to American pilots flying missions in the South.
- 55:02You will tell them it is wrong and they are criminals.
- 55:05You will tell them to protest their government.
- 55:22And for the next several days, his jailers deprived him of sleep, kicked him and withheld food from him in an effort to get him to write a confession.
- 55:33He makes note that this ordeal was one of many he faced during his long captivity.
- 55:40Often held in isolation, the captives communicated by tapping uh a code on the walls, like a type of Morse code.
- 55:49Contact with one another was essential.
- 55:55He said, without it, we were doomed.
- 55:58At the sound of pre-arranged taps, the POW stood alone in their cells to whisper the Lord's prayer in unison.
- 56:06Then they recited the Pledge of Allegiance with a hand over their heart.
- 56:11At the war's end, after eight and a half years in the Hanoi Hilton and other prisons, Everett Alvarez came home.
- 56:19He said, faith in God in our president and in our country.
- 56:24It was this faith that maintained our hope.
- 56:28He said, God bless you, Mr.
- 56:30and Mrs.
- 56:30America, you did not forget us.
- 56:34Faith, he said.
- 56:36He put it all on faith.
- 56:38Faith is one of the theological virtues.
- 56:42Faith is something that we used to teach our young people.
- 56:45We used to put it on display.
- 56:48And we're putting it on display here today in this little history class.
- 56:52I wish I would have taken more time for this.
- 56:55Faith in God, faith in our country, faith in the fact that they would see the light of day.
- 57:03And they had this faith in community.
- 57:05One another, even though they were isolated in cells, they tapped it out.
- 57:09They tapped out their coat.
- 57:11Faith is a beautiful thing today.
- 57:13Be inspired by it, be motivated by it and go after it.
- 57:16All right, my friends, thank you for joining me.
- 57:19Encourage your friends and family to get on the dean's list.
- 57:22Let's unite to renovate the age.
