Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Mark talks with New York Governor Candidate Bruce Blakemen
Transcript
- 0:01Speaker 1: Well, Bruce Blakeman should be the next governor of New York.
- 0:05Speaker 1: He's been the county executive in Nassau County for years.
- 0:08Speaker 1: That's a job that's pretty similar to governor. He's considered
- 0:10Speaker 1: the best county executive in America. Now, you can help him.
- 0:14Speaker 1: Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. Donate. Volunteer. Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. Bruce Blakeman,
- 0:22Speaker 1: how you doing?
- 0:24Speaker 2: We're doing great, Mark. Our campaign has really hit its stride.
- 0:28Speaker 2: We've got a lot of momentum. We're in a statistical
- 0:30Speaker 2: dead heat now with Kathy Hochul. And I fully expect,
- 0:34Speaker 2: with the help of all your listeners, that we will
- 0:37Speaker 2: be victorious on November 3rd and January 1st. You'll be
- 0:41Speaker 2: swearing in a new governor who cares about New Yorkers
- 0:44Speaker 2: and puts New Yorkers first, wants to make New Yorkers happy.
- 0:48Speaker 2: We're the most overtaxed state in the United States. We
- 0:50Speaker 2: need to cut our taxes. I've got a plan to
- 0:52Speaker 2: do that. We need to cut our utility rates. Our
- 0:55Speaker 2: utility rates in New York State are 70% higher than
- 0:59Speaker 2: the national average. And Kathy Hochul is the most pro-criminal
- 1:02Speaker 2: governor in the United States of America with cashless bail
- 1:06Speaker 2: and everything else she does to make it easier for
- 1:08Speaker 2: criminals to prey on our community. So that ends on
- 1:12Speaker 2: January 1st. We will get out of our economic death spiral.
- 1:16Speaker 2: We'll create great jobs. And we will have a New
- 1:19Speaker 2: York state where people are prosperous, safe, and healthy. Yeah.
- 1:22Speaker 1: And you did it in Nassau County. You probably saw
- 1:25Speaker 1: this survey that came out, the most moved-to destination in
- 1:29Speaker 1: America right now. Hardest place to find a house so
- 1:31Speaker 1: many people are going there is Nassau County right now.
- 1:34Speaker 1: So that's pretty amazing.
- 1:35Speaker 2: Well, yeah. Listen, it's not rocket science. The bottom line is...
- 1:42Speaker 2: If you keep taxes low, I haven't raised taxes a
- 1:45Speaker 2: penny in four years. As a matter of fact, I
- 1:47Speaker 2: cut $ 150 million tax increase on my predecessor. If you
- 1:51Speaker 2: make communities safer, I've hired over 700 new law enforcement professionals. U.S.
- 1:58Speaker 2: News and World Report says we're the safest county in America.
- 2:02Speaker 2: And if you create jobs and economic activity so people
- 2:05Speaker 2: have higher wages, more money in their pocket, So they
- 2:09Speaker 2: can spend money the way they want rather than have
- 2:11Speaker 2: government take their money and spend it the way they
- 2:14Speaker 2: don't want, like Kathy Hochul's been doing by spending billions
- 2:17Speaker 2: of dollars on people who aren't New Yorkers. It's not
- 2:21Speaker 2: hard to do. And I will do that when I
- 2:23Speaker 2: become governor. And people will be more prosperous. They will
- 2:27Speaker 2: live in safer communities. And they'll have lower taxes and
- 2:30Speaker 2: lower energy bills. Yeah.
- 2:31Speaker 1: He's not just saying it. He's done this. Now you
- 2:33Speaker 1: can help. Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. BlakemanForNewYork.com. She's agreed to one debate,
- 2:40Speaker 1: and it's on the very biased left-wing New York One.
- 2:44Speaker 1: But you think you'll be able to get another debate
- 2:46Speaker 1: out of her?
- 2:48Speaker 2: Absolutely not. I have accepted seven debates, and this is
- 2:54Speaker 2: the only one that she accepted. It's only an hour long,
- 2:57Speaker 2: and it's on the most narrow media outlet of all
- 3:02Speaker 2: the invitations that we got. Kathy Hochul can't talk about
- 3:06Speaker 2: her record because it's a record of failure. I can
- 3:09Speaker 2: talk about my record because of the good things that
- 3:11Speaker 2: I've done to make my county so successful. But Kathy
- 3:15Speaker 2: Hochul has us in an economic death spiral. It's unaffordable
- 3:19Speaker 2: because of her and it's unsafe because of her. So
- 3:22Speaker 2: she doesn't want to defend her record. If she had
- 3:25Speaker 2: such a great record, she would accept every debate so
- 3:28Speaker 2: she could tout all the good things that she's done.
- 3:30Speaker 2: But she can't do that because It's a record of misery.
- 3:33Speaker 2: We need a governor that puts New Yorkers first and
- 3:36Speaker 2: makes New Yorkers happy.
- 3:38Speaker 1: So these other offers, you mean like Channel 4, Channel 2,
- 3:41Speaker 1: that kind of stuff?
- 3:44Speaker 2: ABC, CBS, NBC, Fox 5, and then some other smaller
- 3:50Speaker 2: media outlets. We've accepted all of their invitations. This is
- 3:55Speaker 2: the only one Kathy Hochul has agreed to do. And
- 3:59Speaker 2: I'm looking forward to it anyway. I think that people
- 4:02Speaker 2: will have an opportunity to see exactly what my record is,
- 4:07Speaker 2: one of making people happy versus her record of making
- 4:10Speaker 2: people absolutely miserable. Wow.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So she's turned down the big stations. She'll do a
- 4:15Speaker 1: New York one, the tiniest station, because it's very biased,
- 4:18Speaker 1: very left-wing. You're going to be debating three people, her
- 4:22Speaker 1: and the anchors.
- 4:24Speaker 2: That's okay. Mark, you know what? I'm up for it.
- 4:29Speaker 2: There are a lot more Democrats in this state than Republicans.
- 4:34Speaker 2: There's a lot of independent voters and they're all coming
- 4:36Speaker 2: my way every day. Another Democrat walks up to me
- 4:40Speaker 2: and says, Bruce, I'm a lifelong Democrat. I've never voted
- 4:44Speaker 2: Republican before in my life. I'm voting for you. I'm
- 4:48Speaker 2: voting Republican this year. These people are nuts. And by
- 4:52Speaker 2: the way, we have an independent line, the vote affordable line.
- 4:56Speaker 2: And that's for people who may not want to vote
- 4:58Speaker 2: Republican or conservative. So if you want to vote on
- 5:00Speaker 2: an independent line, you can vote the Affordable Party. And
- 5:04Speaker 2: that gives you an opportunity to vote for me and
- 5:08Speaker 2: not feel like you're going to get electrocuted if you
- 5:10Speaker 2: vote Republican.
- 5:12Speaker 1: Hey, they always, Democrats keep pushing affordability. That's their big issue.
- 5:15Speaker 1: But if you look at the actual numbers, the affordability crisis,
- 5:19Speaker 1: it's really taxes. That's the number one expense most people
- 5:22Speaker 1: have now are taxes. So there is a way to
- 5:26Speaker 1: cut that, isn't there?
- 5:28Speaker 2: Yeah, Mark, it's taxes and it's utility bills. So first
- 5:31Speaker 2: of all, with respect to taxes, if you're a joint filer,
- 5:36Speaker 2: under my plan, your first $ 100, 000, no tax, no state
- 5:40Speaker 2: income tax. That's number one. Single filer, $ 50, 000, no tax.
- 5:46Speaker 2: That's number one. Number two, the other big cost is
- 5:50Speaker 2: your utility bill. She's approved 48 rate hikes, and she
- 5:54Speaker 2: is now going to give people a check that for
- 5:58Speaker 2: between $ 100 and $ 200 right before the election, what she
- 6:02Speaker 2: calls a rebate. It's a scam. She took your money
- 6:07Speaker 2: and she took $ 1, 000 and now she's giving you back $ 200.
- 6:11Speaker 2: I mean, it's a shell game. And people will see
- 6:14Speaker 2: through that. People aren't stupid. And they know that this
- 6:18Speaker 2: is an election year scam. So they'll get a check
- 6:21Speaker 2: for $ 200. Hey, Kathy, give it all back. Whatever you raised,
- 6:26Speaker 2: in utility costs over the last four years, give it back.
- 6:29Speaker 2: That's what I would do.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman, you can help in the campaign. Just go
- 6:35Speaker 1: to BlakemanForNewYork.com. You can donate, volunteer, BlakemanForNewYork.com. A lot of
- 6:40Speaker 1: people in New York City, they're very worried about getting
- 6:42Speaker 1: through three years of Mamdani. When you become the governor,
- 6:46Speaker 1: what can you do to rein in Mamdani's craziness?
- 6:51Speaker 2: Well, first of all, the governor has a tremendous power
- 6:54Speaker 2: over New York City. So I am not going to
- 6:57Speaker 2: let him ruin the economy of New York City. That
- 7:00Speaker 2: is not going to happen with me as governor, number one.
- 7:03Speaker 2: Number two, I am not going to allow lawlessness in
- 7:07Speaker 2: New York City. I'm not going to allow him to
- 7:10Speaker 2: defund the police. I'm not going to allow him to
- 7:13Speaker 2: handcuff our police. I want to make sure that we
- 7:16Speaker 2: make New York City safe so that we will attract businesses,
- 7:21Speaker 2: we'll attract people to the city. And right now, people
- 7:24Speaker 2: are leaving New by the hundreds of thousands because they
- 7:26Speaker 2: don't like the policies of Mondami and hopeful. And let's
- 7:30Speaker 2: face it, the guy's an anti-Semite. He's anti-Christian. And quite frankly,
- 7:35Speaker 2: he's anti-American. And Kathy Hope endorsed him and he endorsed her.
- 7:40Speaker 2: So they're in bed together. And the fact of the
- 7:42Speaker 2: matter is that we don't need people who don't share
- 7:45Speaker 2: the values of our parents and our grandparents. What we
- 7:47Speaker 2: need to do is get back to those values because
- 7:51Speaker 2: it made a really, really good state and a really
- 7:53Speaker 2: great city. And if we get back to those values,
- 7:57Speaker 2: we can restore that greatness once again.
- 8:00Speaker 1: So, Bruce Blakeman, the big attack ad she and her
- 8:03Speaker 1: super PACs are running, the big attack ads against you
- 8:05Speaker 1: are that you're friends with Donald Trump. It's actually quite
- 8:08Speaker 1: a compliment if that's the only thing they can come
- 8:10Speaker 1: up with to attack you for.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Well, she doesn't want to talk about her record. She
- 8:16Speaker 2: wants to talk about Donald Trump. Donald Trump didn't raise
- 8:20Speaker 2: your taxes to be the highest taxed state in the
- 8:22Speaker 2: United States. Donald Trump didn't raise your utility bills so
- 8:27Speaker 2: they're now 70% higher than the national average. Kathy Hochul
- 8:32Speaker 2: did that. She's the one that's made it unaffordable. We
- 8:36Speaker 2: are number 50, Mark, out of 50 states in economic outlook.
- 8:40Speaker 2: It doesn't get worse than that. There's only 50 states.
- 8:43Speaker 2: That is the bottom. And we were the once great
- 8:47Speaker 2: empire state. And the fact is that there's no economic activity.
- 8:50Speaker 2: People are leaving. Businesses are leaving. Jobs are leaving. We've
- 8:54Speaker 2: got to stop that death spiral.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Well, you've gone from 20 points behind to almost tied
- 9:00Speaker 1: right now, and you're still climbing. What is it you
- 9:04Speaker 1: want people to do for you right now, people listening?
- 9:07Speaker 2: Well, as you said, go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. We're up against
- 9:11Speaker 2: the Democratic machine. We're up against the DSA, people who
- 9:16Speaker 2: don't share our American values. They're socialists slash communists. And
- 9:22Speaker 2: please make a contribution. It's very important. Volunteer. Make a list.
- 9:28Speaker 2: Make a list of your friends, your neighbors, your relatives,
- 9:31Speaker 2: your coworkers, and keep calling them until they promise you
- 9:36Speaker 2: that they voted because turnout is going to be a
- 9:39Speaker 2: big factor. We need a big turnout for people who
- 9:42Speaker 2: want lower taxes, lower energy bills, and safer communities. Yeah.
- 9:47Speaker 1: If you want to donate, go to BlakemanForNewYork.com. BlakemanForNewYork.com. Well,
- 9:52Speaker 1: We're all pushing for you. I think you're going to
- 9:54Speaker 1: win big in November. And we'll be watching. And we'll
- 9:58Speaker 1: talk again soon. Bruce Blakeman. thanks for being with us.
- 10:01Speaker 2: Well, thank you so much, Mark, and I appreciate your friendship.
- 10:04Speaker 2: May God bless you and all your listeners, and may
- 10:07Speaker 2: God bless America.
- 10:08Speaker 1: All right. Bruce Blakeman, thanks for being with us. Take care. Yeah,
- 10:12Speaker 1: everybody help out. Go to BlakemanForNewYork.com.
