- 3:08Let's welcome to the show, as we do every Friday. Hannah Gardner
- 3:12from the Cannell Charles Humaine Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of the
- 3:15Week. Hannah, good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning,
- 3:20how are you doing fine? Welcome, Welcome again in happy March, by
- 3:23the way, happy March had be March. Let's get to our ped of
- 3:27the week as always. Picture posted on my social media Dave Allan Radio and
- 3:31Facebook and the Dave Allan Show at Dave A seventy on X. That's the
- 3:35artist formally known as Twitter. This morning, we have a lovely creature by
- 3:38the name of Copper. Tell us about Copper. Yeah, so Copper is
- 3:46well. He's very very handsome. He's like a chocolatey like reddish caller.
- 3:53He's if you ask me what he was. I'm not entirely sure what he
- 3:58is. He's got to be like pound mixed with something like a kid or
- 4:05at. He needs to have something different in him, maybe like bast hound
- 4:10as well, because he's got these legs in the front that are like shorter.
- 4:15So while he is around fifty four pounds, sorry you're hearing my dogs.
- 4:20He is around fifty four pounds, he's still got like rather shorter legs,
- 4:27so he's definitely worth taking the look at. He's definitely a very very
- 4:30handsome man. He's around three years old, and he was a surrender to
- 4:36us, so I'm not entirely sure of the reason that he was surrendered to
- 4:44us, but I know that he was a surrender to us. He prefers
- 4:46female dogs over male dogs. He can be a little more assertive when it
- 4:50comes to mail dogs unless they're more submissive male dogs. So if you do
- 4:57have male dogs that you want to maybe want to bring up to do a
- 5:01meet and greet with Copper, you can definitely do that. But he's very
- 5:05very friendly with people. He definitely is a little shot at first, so
- 5:11we definitely always advise everybody to go rather slower with him, not too slow.
- 5:16He's not super shot, but he definitely is a little bit headshot,
- 5:20which means that like if you're going over his head or if you're going to
- 5:25go put your hand over his head and start petting him, it might make
- 5:28him a little uncomfortable. He might kind of hucker down a little bit and
- 5:31give you like a little bit of like a whale eye kind of just side
- 5:34as you. But he he just needs someone who can work with him,
- 5:39give him a little TLC and just help him understand that you know, it's
- 5:43okay. Well, it sounds like sounds like he would make a great family
- 5:46pant as you said, and especially with somebody that could work with him a
- 5:49little bit. Is he Is he vaccinated? Is he microchip? Is he
- 5:53fixed? We have all those all those boxes checked off, so he is
- 5:59vaccinated and he has been microchipped. Every dog if they come in the door,
- 6:04they get micro chipped and vaccinated. But I do not think that he
- 6:09is fixed yet. He will be fixed before he leaves if we can get
- 6:12him on the surgery schedule, or you would just bring him back to have
- 6:15him have his surgery, depending on if we can get him on the schedule
- 6:19within those first few days or not. But he is, like I said,
- 6:24a little bashful. He's super sweet. He loves a good walk.
- 6:29He definitely likes to play a little bit, but you just got to let
- 6:31him warm up to you for a little bit first. But he's a really,
- 6:34really sweet dog. And like I said, he is around fifty four
- 6:38pounds and he just needs to go home. He's so sweet. He's also
- 6:42my doggy diplomat of this week er until how long I gotta get him to
- 6:47get adopted, So hopefully this will help him. Hopefully you're right again.
- 6:51We're talking with Hannah Gardner with this week's adopt me please spend the week.
- 6:55Copper is our dog that we're looking for this week, and I don't want
- 6:57to get our dogs mixed up. But I gotta tell you, Hannah,
- 6:59you had the cutest pictures of one of your pets there at the shelter,
- 7:02Glaze posted on the Facebook page. I was looking at that yesterday. Now
- 7:06Glaze has a very disgusted look on her face because as of yesterday, Glaze.
- 7:13I don't know if Glaze posted this or not, but Glaze tells us
- 7:16that you're completely out, or at least you were of wet dog food.
- 7:19Is that true, Yes, so we don't. I know that we were
- 7:25running out rather quickly there. We were using a good bit of it,
- 7:30and I know that we need a good bit of it now. We are
- 7:33pretty much out. I think I saw maybe like a few yesterday, but
- 7:36that's not enough for really anything. So of course we could always use wet
- 7:42food, any brand of wet food. It can be any brand, any
- 7:46size, any kind. But well, we'll take it off. And of
- 7:49course always blankets and sheets are needed. Yes, blanket's sheets. We always
- 7:54said we can hit that every week because I always ask you about the things
- 7:56that are needed. Blankets, sheets, anything like that. Can it can
- 8:00be taken. What big events do you have coming up? Because I was
- 8:03looking on your Facebook page. You've got I know, tucks and Tails were
- 8:07already starting to talk about that. That's not for a couple of months,
- 8:09but the plans are being made for that already. And there's a little bit
- 8:13of information available on your social media about that, any other anywhere you're going
- 8:18to be out and about this weekend or any of the big events coming up.
- 8:20Nothing this weekend that I know of at the moment. I know that,
- 8:26like you said, Texas and Tails is coming up, so everybody check
- 8:31that out, gets your tickets. It's definitely going to be worth it.
- 8:35Absolutely. How's a cat situation up here at the shelter. Our cat situation
- 8:41is all right right now. I know that we're preparing for kitten season.
- 8:45It should be really within the next month or two. Kitten season usually hits,
- 8:52so we're preparing for that, and we of course could always use the
- 8:56kitten chow and then the kitten formulas and stuff like that that I know that
- 9:01we have a good fit and preference for it all. But we definitely are
- 9:05coming up on that and we will be full. I'm sure we usually are.
- 9:09Every year. We get so full that we have our nursery full,
- 9:13all of our fosters have cats and kittens, and then our cattery is always
- 9:16full as well. So we will see how this year goes, and we
- 9:20hope that it all goes all right. Hannah, as always, I appreciate
- 9:24you being here. You better get back and take care of those dogs that
- 9:26we hear in the background. Again, those aren't sheltered dogs. Those are
- 9:28handah dogs. Is that right? Those are handah dogs? All right,
- 9:33go take care of we'll talk again soon we'll actually talk to you next week.
- 9:35Thanks a lot, Hannah, Thank you again. It's Hannah Gardener from
- 9:39the Connell and Charleston New Main Association with this week's Adopt Me Please Pet of
- 9:43the Week. Copper is our dog, Copper, not fixed yet but will
- 9:46be. Before you take Copper home. Copper will be fixed, she is.
- 9:50I'm sorry. He is micro chipped and vaccinated and ready to go once
- 9:56they get the fixing part. Taking care of Copper was so rendered to the
- 10:00shelter. We really exactly don't know why. It looks like that. Copper
- 10:05is a dog that does prefer females to males, and very friendly, but
- 10:09can also be a little bit shy. Probably better with older kids that understand
- 10:13that you just kind of got to go slow with some of these dogs.
- 10:16But Hannah tells me that Copper loves to be outdoors, loves to play,
- 10:20does well on a leash, about fifty four pounds or so. Just an
- 10:24absolutely beautiful dog. And again, I've got Copper's picture posted on Dave Alan
- 10:28Radio on Facebook and at Dave A seventy of the Dave Allen Show on x
- 10:33The artist formally known as Twitter. So let's go get copper in a home
- 10:37and help them out with what they need as far as their wet food goes.
- 10:39Again, I would just taken aback by the When I was looking at
- 10:43the social media pages of the Canal Charles Humane Association, this particular dog Glaze
- 10:46and the look on Glaze's face discussed the look saying hey, get me some
- 10:50food up here, all right? They need some stuff up there at the

- 14:43Good morning? I'm fantastic. Thank you. I don't think Ryan, my

- 14:50I love it. Okay, got to be a certain age, I guess
- 14:52to appreciate it right like you and I are. How would you know you're
- 14:54only thirty? Okay? Who we have with us today, Keisha? What's
- 15:01your lesson again? Bryan? We from keyshan wentster Haven, Florida, winn

- 15:09know, I try to share everything that you guys do on my on my
- 15:13social media and Dave Island Radio. And so I scrolled on the other night
- 15:16and I saw that you had one of the pictures posted up a new player.
- 15:18Oh, here's a new player. Okay, under that, here's a
- 15:20new player. Here's another player. By the time I was on it like
- 15:24like ten different texts or ten different posts, I should say from all of
- 15:26the different players. You told me coming in here, Stephanie, you said,
- 15:31we got ourselves a team this year. We do, We really do.
- 15:33We've got a couple of returning players from last year, which were extremely
- 15:37excited about. And then we were able to invite some other folks with some
- 15:41great backgrounds, some great college history, some great overseas experiences. And then
- 15:46Keishan has his own story to tell today. We're really excited. I want
- 15:50to hear this story. Keishean, tell us your story. Uh, you
- 15:52know, small kid, small town from winne Haven. You know, went
- 15:56to South Carolina for my first four years, played with Frank. I had
- 16:00a number on the four years. You know, the team was good.
- 16:03I had a pretty good four years. Did a couple of NBA drafts throughout
- 16:07those two years, but decided to do one more year to get my degree.
- 16:11You know, so that was something that was big for me. I'm
- 16:14actually first generation first person to get my degree. So what was your degree
- 16:18in general studies? Okay, that's awesome, thank you. So I finished
- 16:22my last year at University of South Florida, came from University of South Florida
- 16:26to the G League. I ended up getting drafted in the G League.
- 16:30Some things happened, you know that I had no control over. Now I'm
- 16:34here and we're working by the way back up, So what do you think
- 16:37about this style of basketball in this league? I think it's very similar to
- 16:41the league, you know, very very fast paced, you know, very
- 16:45a lot of transition game. You know, a lot of just skilled in
- 16:48it. So I think it's very similar to the pros. Yeah, I
- 16:52was looking at some of the lists of players that you had, Stephanie,
- 16:53and you've got Luke Frampton, who is certainly no stranger to this area.
- 16:57Was a standout at POKA. So get a little local flavor in their team.
- 17:00We do, we do. We were excited to bring him back.
- 17:03So let's talk about the season now. When does the season start. March
- 17:10eighth. Friday is our home game opener. It's going to be exciting.
- 17:14It's down at the campus of West Virginia State University and exciting. New is
- 17:18one of our sponsors. Michael Carey Law Firm has sponsored that game so that
- 17:22all kids will get in free to that game. So bring everybody you can,
- 17:26all the kids, they'll be in. They'll be able to get a
- 17:29mission for free. And it's our first game. We've got some people coming
- 17:32from Huntington and all over the state. Social media when we put it up
- 17:33that was that was the TBL media day, so that's why you got all
- 17:37the tag pictures of everybody and all the fun stuff. So we blew it
- 17:41up. We've got a lot of people interacting with us and they're excited coming
- 17:45too the game next Friday for Shure and again hats off to Michael Carey.
- 17:48It's any law for sponsor for what's the age on that, like twelve and
- 17:51under maybe or an age your student all the way up through senior high school.
- 17:55Okay, come on, we want everybody. We need everybody to come
- 17:56and see this team, all right, and that's what that's what a big
- 18:00part of the success of your first season there, I think was getting the
- 18:03kids involved in getting all these I'm not sure what they call him now.
- 18:06It was called Buddy League when I when I was a kid. But do
- 18:07you know these all the all the little kids and getting all the all them
- 18:11in there as well, that's a big part of it. Absolutely, Absolutely
- 18:14we want them to see we've got We've got some guys that can dunk this
- 18:15year, so there'll be some entertainment on the court. That's a little pointing
- 18:21in him, our resident dunker. I did, I did, wait,
- 18:25wait till you see this? And then and like I said, a couple
- 18:27of guys that were here last year and since then one or two of them
- 18:30have gone overseas and played, so that's really exciting. And then as you
- 18:34said, Luke Frampton, he you know, left Western Kentucky and now he's
- 18:38here as a local, as a local guy. He has his own fan
- 18:41base that's coming. So that's exciting that he gets to play in this league.
- 18:45For us, we're looking forward to a Dave Allen showing five of the
- 18:47Life Brought to You part by Morgan to Morgan America's launch of America's largest injury
- 18:51law firm. He shall. Let's go back to you for a couple of
- 18:53moments. What age did you fall in love with a game of basketball?
- 18:56Born him with a basketball in your hand or what? You know? I
- 19:00was into a lot of sports growing up. You know, basketball wasn't always
- 19:03my first. You know, I was very big on football, you know,
- 19:07but around around middle school, the girls started kicking in, you know,
- 19:12and didn't balance out that well. So you know, I had to
- 19:15pick, and I chose basketball, you know, for safer reasons, health
- 19:18reasons. So and I just stuck with a sense. Who were some of
- 19:22your idols growing up? Who were the people that you look to, and
- 19:25so that's who I want to be. Some people that I looked up to
- 19:26were guys like Tracy McGrady. Those are guys that's from my whole town.
- 19:30So he was like one one of the only guys that you know, I
- 19:33really kind of like wanted out of my game ass playing back home. He
- 19:37was a great player. He made fantastic fantastic Now, see what time frame
- 19:41were we talking that he played, because I remember remember him, but I
- 19:45don't remember the exact years. But but he was a fantastic player in the
- 19:48league. In the nineties league early two thousands, Yeah, he was,
- 19:51that was and that was really a great time for basketball too. I mean,
- 19:55I mean, you know, if you think about it, and I'm
- 19:57not I'm not the basket basketball expert, but if you think about the time
- 20:00frame from the eighties up until, as you said, in the nineties,
- 20:03been some phenomenal basketball in the night and really it continues today because the association
- 20:07is doing pretty well for itself right now. Is that your ultimate gold you
- 20:11want to get back to. Notice how quickly he said goal. You know,
- 20:17this league is definitely the reason why I came here, you know,
- 20:19because I heard all the resources they can help for me and how the popular
- 20:23of the league is. So you know, I'm looking forward to plan and
- 20:26getting back to where I was at. And we talked to Stephanie in the
- 20:30past about what a what a great facility that it is there in the campus
- 20:33of West Virginia State course, we just had the par of our shoot out
- 20:36there last month and thirty two teams boys and girls that came and took over
- 20:41the place for four big days. That's a great facility. I mean,
- 20:44it really really is. Absolutely it's amazing. So it almost makes you feel
- 20:47like you're in the league. Yeah, it is. And that's one of
- 20:49the great things about that facility, you know, whether it's this league or
- 20:52as I said, any of the other things that go on there Stephanie,
- 20:55is there's to use the cliche, there's not a bad seat in the house,
- 20:59in the place, not at all, not at all. In one
- 21:00of the things that we're excited about is Keishawn mentioned this is a great resource
- 21:06the TBL for sure. I mean the production team that we have and the
- 21:10production team that we have at State from our stats in our film. I
- 21:14mean, that's what's building the resume. Remember TBL as a showcase league,
- 21:18So that's what we're doing, building resumes so that guys can achieve their goal
- 21:22like Keishawn's goals. Last time we had you and sure we had the coach
- 21:23of the team. How's he doing. Is he's still doing all right?
- 21:26He's doing well. We're gonna have a little scrimmage this evening just to get
- 21:29our feet underneath of us and play another team for the first time. Not
- 21:33anything that's opened, you know, to public or anything like that, but
- 21:36we're gonna do that so we can put some final touches on a few things.
- 21:38We do have him meet the team next Tuesday night, so we're going
- 21:42to be at Buffalo Wild Wings in Nitro. We will be there at seven
- 21:47o'clock and everybody will be coming out there to meet the team, see the
- 21:49guys, get some autographs. We're giving away some shirts and some tickets and
- 21:52some fun things, just a couple of days before our home opener. That's
- 21:56great. And again the community involvement, Stephanie with this, with this league,
- 22:00I mean coming out to events like that, but just the support in
- 22:03the community. But you guys also believe in giving back to the community.
- 22:07I've seen you out at about it several several different events. That's a big
- 22:10part of it. We are the guys are phenomen This is a phenomenal group
- 22:14of guys. I mean genuine, wholehearted in back in their own hometowns.
- 22:18They work with kids, and they run camps and they do things. These
- 22:22are athlete mentors. So it's not just about the basketball, it's about everything
- 22:26else that you know they could reach out to in touch. I've got them
- 22:27actually busy. We're going out this weekend. We're going to be working on
- 22:30the fields at the soccer fields at Shawnee on Saturday and Sunday, and then
- 22:34Monday, I've got a couple of them going to another after school program to
- 22:38work with a couple of people at a third base. So we're doing that
- 22:41and then the then the meet the team, and then they get a day
- 22:42to rest before one very aim one day. You get one day Thursday.
- 22:48That's it. She's hardcore, isn't she. When you go out the Keishaw,
- 22:51when you go ahead and you talk to these young kids, what do
- 22:55you tell them? You tell them some of your story? Do you tell
- 22:57them? You know, the stand, work hard, do your homework,
- 23:00take your vitamin, stay in school, you know that kind of thing.
- 23:03What is your message to young kids? Well, you know, I feel
- 23:04like, you know, everybody has a different story, you know, so
- 23:07I try not to really give them my story. Just try to give them
- 23:11positive advice. You know. Also tell them to know that write your own
- 23:15story. You know, everybody has their own story. So my main thing
- 23:17is write your own story. But some some things you also have to follow
- 23:21in line to make sure your story gets the where it needs to go.
- 23:23So just try to keep them on a good level headspace and just all positive
- 23:26news and kids today have so many other things in their life. Video games,
- 23:33yeah, and so many and social media, you know, I mean,
- 23:37it's all about social media with it with young people today. It's all
- 23:41about likes and clicks and things of that nature, something that maybe the athlete
- 23:45of the nineteen nineties or the two thousands, even through the mid two thousands
- 23:51didn't have to worry about, you know. And social media plays a part,
- 23:53you know, And I feel like in my generation a little bit,
- 23:56you know, you know, you can you can get caught up in social
- 23:59media, and that's that's something you want. You don't want to do a
- 24:02lot. So me personally, I took a year off social media, as
- 24:06probably Marsh will be my year going on. A year off social media really
- 24:10Instagram, twel you know, and it's been more peaceful for me that way.
- 24:12And I feel like a lot of people should try that, you know,
- 24:15try I know people that have given it up for lent and then they
- 24:18didn't go back to it. So one of my good buddies did that a
- 24:22couple of years ago, and he said, you know what, I never
- 24:23went back to Facebook, Instagram. I just totally gave it up, totally
- 24:27gave it up. Important dates we need to remember for the grim mis Stephanie.
- 24:32Meet the team for certain, that's going to be coming up next Tuesday,
- 24:37So meet the team, come out and see us as start Buffalo Wild
- 24:40Wings in Nitro. So we're excited about that. And then our first home
- 24:44opening game is going to be next Friday at seven o'clock campus of West Virginia
- 24:48State University. Bring the kiddos, they're all free compliments of Michael Carey's law
- 24:52firm. So those are our biggest dates there. And so next week when
- 24:56you have that opening, what kind of festivities do we have for opening Day?
- 25:00Because I know it's you know, opening day in Indie sports, not
- 25:02just another game. So what kind of stuff we get going on. We're
- 25:03excited. We've got a lot of kids coming. We've got some AAU teams
- 25:07coming that are going to be reaching out to the players. Really, this
- 25:10one is about the players meeting the kids before the game, during halftime,
- 25:15coming out, shooting a little bit with them, after the game, meeting
- 25:18up with the kids. Also, this is all about the players this time,
- 25:21investing in the kids. We've got. We've got a little dance crew
- 25:25coming in. We've got some little babies that are going to be coming in
- 25:26at halftime show and they're going to be doing some dance and things like that,
- 25:30so we're excited for that. This one is all about the kids,
- 25:33though, Dave absolutely absolutely talk about merchandise. I mean, I heard you
- 25:37mentioned that you had a team store stuff like that. People can buy the
- 25:40ground because I love the logo. I think the logos are just absolutely beautiful.
- 25:44I love it. So what kind of stuff have you got there?
- 25:47So our website actually is being updated as we speak. I saw a couple
- 25:52of things updated on there this morning and now on our socials, so you
- 25:56can find us on Instagram and on Facebook, but on our socials we have
- 26:00our team's store up and running. So last year I got a lot of
- 26:03requests. I've got a baby, they need a onesie. The baby doesn't
- 26:04have anything to wear, so now you can get something for the baby,
- 26:07something for the females, something for the kids, something for the guys.
- 26:11So there's all kinds of T shirts and sweatshirts and things that are gonna be
- 26:14on there. We're gonna be keep adding on there as well. Locally.
- 26:17We have some T shirts, will be having those available at the first game
- 26:21and at the meet the team next week, so you can get something right
- 26:22away so you could support us next Friday. It's keyshean to tell you.
- 26:26It's all about the gear man, right, You got to you gotta have
- 26:29the gear to go along with it. Hey, Stephanie, I appreciate you
- 26:32taking time to be here, keyshan Bright is also a pleasure to get to
- 26:34know you as well. Meet the team Tuesday night Buffalo Wild Wings Cross Lanes,
- 26:40and also next Friday night is the opening nights. So get out there
- 26:45and enjoy the grind and and some of these teams and some of these places
- 26:49you're gonna be going. I mean again, you're based in West Virginia,
- 26:52but you go Kenish. Let me ask you this before I let you gohad
- 26:53you ever been to West Virginia before this funny story? You know, I
- 26:57actually stayed in Huntreth in the four years. Oh really? Okay, Yes,
- 27:00sir, I played for Huntres in prop my junior year. Oh okay.
- 27:03So you got a little bit of a local connection, a local connection,
- 27:07a host family that's around the area. So I'm pretty pretty familiar with
- 27:11the area. So you're familiar with the West Virginia culture. You've had the
- 27:12biscuits and gravy, and you've you've been to tutors I was just thinking about
- 27:18this last night. Yeah, so all right, So there's what you need
- 27:21to do. You need to reach out to tutors so they're not involved in
- 27:22this. You need to get because you got to got to keep keys.
- 27:25Shun's got that in his contract. He's got to have. What's your go
- 27:27to at tutors Man, anything in particular, bacon and cheese, biscuit.
- 27:32All right, there you going to see we got we gotta taken care of

- 30:33Sunday. I got Rochelle Baty from More from the Northern Branch of WVRC Media
- 30:38along with the lovely Kelly. How are you ladies great? How are you?
- 30:44Thank you for having us, Thank you for thank you for being here.
- 30:47You don't had on Chris Lawrence yesterday, but I'd much rather talk to
- 30:49you two about this. Chris is actually up there, I think in Morgantown
- 30:53right now. Big two days in Morgantown, girls, talk about it.
- 30:59It's going to be a huge two days. This is our twenty second annual
- 31:02West Virginia Fishing, Hunting, Outdoor Sports Show and it's everything that's in the
- 31:07title and more anything outdoors guns, ammos, hunting supplies, camouflage, tractors,
- 31:15boats, or tree you name it. And a lot goes into putting
- 31:21this show together. Rachelle and Kelly talk about to what goes into putting this
- 31:26show on. So it is a year long production. Really, we deal
- 31:33with vendors all year longs preparing for this two day show. It is very
- 31:37time consuming but very rewarding. Our vendors are some of the best vendors from
- 31:42around the country, so we're just excited for everybody to come out and meet
- 31:47them. And over one hundred thousand square feet is that right? It is
- 31:52it's over one hundred thousand square feet. We have over two hundred vendor booths
- 31:57with around one hundred and sixty or so individual vendors themselves. And there is
- 32:04something I mean, you know again to use the advertising cliches Chris and I
- 32:07talked about you yesterday, Rachelle and Kelly, there is something for everybody there,
- 32:12whether you are into the fishing, the hunting, and some people just
- 32:15like to hang out in the outdoors or not. They don't really necessarily want
- 32:19to go after the animals, they just like to hang out in the outdoors.
- 32:22You get something for them too. Absolutely, we have whitewater rafting here.
- 32:25We have everything outdoors, hiking supplies. This is not just for fishing
- 32:31and hunting. This is anything that you can think of outdoors. We have
- 32:36e bikes, We have all kinds of things that everybody just needs to come
- 32:38out and see because there is literally something for everyone. And I was looking
- 32:44at your at your information online and by the way, I'm going to put
- 32:46the entire sky I've got. I've had information on all of our social media
- 32:50about this, but also I'm going to have something on my particular I'm a
- 32:53page day VLID Radio with the actual schedule. Here. You got Garrett Green
- 32:59who is going to be their courtesy of Myers r V as a special guest
- 33:02from noon to two signing some autographs. That's a pretty big deal. Yes,
- 33:07he'll be here on Sunday from noon to two taking pictures, signing autographs
- 33:12and you can bring your own stuff if you want him to sign, or
- 33:15we'll have some stuff on site as well. If you forgot your home,
- 33:17that will be nice enough to give. And one of the things that's always
- 33:22a big hit with these things too, is is the seminars that you have.
- 33:25I know we have our event in Charleston. That's always a big deal
- 33:30is people like to come out and they like to learn from the experts,
- 33:32and you've got a lot of that going on too. Absolutely. We have,
- 33:37of course, we have Chris Lawrence Live from nine to noon tomorrow here,
- 33:40so if you're interested in seeing how radio works, you're more than welcome
- 33:45to come in at ten and sit down and watch Chris do his thing at
- 33:46ten o'clock from to noon. And then right after that we have fly Fishing
- 33:52one oh one, and then we have Josh White from Josh White's Outdoor Adventures
- 33:55doing an interview with Chris up on the stage. After that, we have
- 34:00how to get Deer lower Gears in with Smoky and then we have Reptiles Live
- 34:08with the Zoologies owned Science Center telling us all about reptiles in West Virginia and
- 34:14all around the world. Really, he has a ton of reptiles. I
- 34:17want to come see those. Then we have Kenny Davis with Whitetail Frenzy.
- 34:22We have wild game cooking with the Hunt Chef and that's going to round us
- 34:24out on Saturday. On Sunday we have training and using shed dogs with the
- 34:29Long Spur tracking and outfitting. We have fast and basics with Bugsy. He's
- 34:34one of the greatest fishermen, so you'll want to come learn from him.
- 34:37And then we kind of end our day with some kids things with Laurel Fork
- 34:40falconry and the hawks and falcons, sabring, and a lightsaber show with the
- 34:45Outer Rim Praxium Lightsaber School. Now I'm going to need to hear more about
- 34:47this lightsaber show. You know, it's funny the first year we did this,
- 34:52this will be the third year for them, and the first year we
- 34:55brought it in for the kids. But I don't know, I feel like
- 34:59the as we get into it more than the kids even do. And I
- 35:04want to go ahead and get the admission price out there. It's twelve dollars
- 35:06for adults and killed children six to twelve it is five dollars. And if
- 35:10you're a veteran and I love this, you're letting veterans in six dollars all
- 35:14day. Just have your proof of service to be able to get into that.
- 35:16And a lot of giveaways too. I mean, you got a ton
- 35:20of giveaways, like kayaks you're giving away, you got Bui, you know,
- 35:23you got motorbikes, you're giving away, you get away a lot of
- 35:25stuff. Girls, we do. We have over twenty over twenty thousand dollars
- 35:30in prizes we'll give away the first there's two entrances. The first fifty people
- 35:35in line both days at each door will receive a free gift, and then
- 35:39every hour we'll give away prizes. And then at the end of the show
- 35:44we'll give away our four grand prizes, which you mentioned. We have a
- 35:46SSR seventy youth dirt bike, we have a fishing kayak. We have a
- 35:52guided bare bait hunt for two in Crystal Maine courtesy of Backboond Mountain Guide Service
- 35:59and then valued it over ten thousand dollars a weekend for two at Dream Mountain
- 36:02Ranch which consists of several hunts, all of your meat, processing, your
- 36:07lodging, your meals and everything. So a lot of fun stuff to be
- 36:12one. Exactly before we let you go, I want to talk about the
- 36:14most important thing to people like myself, and that is the food. There's
- 36:17always great food at these events. Talk about the food, always great food.
- 36:23I think we get the most excited when the food vendors come in and
- 36:27want to come in. We obviously will have our pickle guy. We get
- 36:30so many calls going is the pickle man going to be there? Yes,
- 36:34he is bringing his pickles. He has two boots and two different areas of
- 36:37our show. We have some other great food. We have raw honey coming
- 36:42up from southern West Virginia. We have all kinds of jerky, We have
- 36:45moonshine, chocolate fudge, we have what else. We have prestols, we
- 36:52have gourmet popcorns. I mean, everything that you can think of is going
- 36:57to be here. It's going to be a lot of fun. And again
- 37:00it's happening this weekend. And got a great facility to have it in there.
- 37:04I mean, I've been up here in the last couple of years.
- 37:06The Ruby Community Center at Myland Park over one hundred thousand square feet. Again,
- 37:10We've got a lot of information available out there, and I'll repeat a
- 37:15little bit of that a little bit later on. I know you girls got
- 37:16to get back to work because you've got a lot of stuff going on there.
- 37:19Rachelle and Kelly. I appreciate you taking time to join us and enjoy
- 37:24you girls and everybody involved in this. WVRC Media has done a great job
- 37:29putting this thing on. It is absolutely huge. The weather looks absolutely fantastic
- 37:34as well, So head on up to Morgantown and take it all in.
- 37:37I appreciate you being here. Thanks, thank you guys. We'll see you
- 37:40tomorrow. All right, Rachelle and Kelly again from the West Virginia Fishing,
- 37:45Hunting and Outdoor Sports Show. And again it's happening Saturday and Sunday tomorrow and
- 37:51Sunday Tomorrow's hours ten till seven, Sunday ten till four, over one hundred
- 37:55thousand square feet of nothing but the best in the outdoor. And again just
- 38:00looking over, I mean, if you want, you want guns, you
- 38:04want m o you want fishing stuff, you want campers, tractors, boats,
- 38:08the food, Ryan, we got lots of food there. And this
- 38:12moonshine fudge I'm gonna need to learn more about that as well. And a

- 42:10It's one of those month long events that everyone looks forward to here in the
- 42:15Canal Valley. Presented by the Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau. It is
- 42:19the annual Chaste and Talent's Month of Putnam County kicks off today. Kelly Steele
- 42:23is executive director of the Putnam County Convention and Visitor Bureau, and she joins
- 42:27us now. Kelly, good morning, Welcome to the show. Good morning,
- 42:30Dave, how are you. I'm doing fine. What are you doing?
- 42:34Sounds like you're like far away? What are you doing? Oh?
- 42:37I'm just standing here. I mean I'm all the way in Putnam County.
- 42:40It's not too far. Oh is that what it is? It's a long
- 42:44distance, That's what it is. That's what it is. So what is
- 42:45Taste and Talent It's all about? Give us the basic definition? Well,
- 42:51I mean you said it. It's our month long celebration of food and the
- 42:53arts in Putnam County. So we love to eat and we love to support
- 43:00our arts community. So that's that's really what it's all about in a nutshell.
- 43:05So what will people find that they can Again, this is a month
- 43:07long event that just kicks off today. What exactly do people do as part
- 43:12of this? Well, they eat, So that's that's a given what I
- 43:15like to do. Yeah, So if you go to Taste and Talents dot
- 43:20com or go to visit Putnam w B and click on Tastes and Talents whatever
- 43:23whatever it takes to get you there, you can find a mobile path that
- 43:28you can access and it will give you you can kind of earn points and
- 43:31so as you visit our different locally owned restaurants all throughout the county. You
- 43:36can check in and you can earn some Putinham County swags. Some of the
- 43:38restaurants offer specials like special menu items only for March. Other restaurants offer discounts,
- 43:45so you can access all of that on the pass. And then we
- 43:47also make sure that you know about any food or arts related events throughout the
- 43:53county. So there are a list of related tastes and talents events on our
- 44:00events calendar on that page that you can find. So our library is a
- 44:04great partner. They offer some special food related and arts related events throughout the
- 44:09month, and there's live music at different restaurants. You can find all of
- 44:13that right there on the website. Give us an example just off the top
- 44:15of your head, Kelly, some of the art related things you have,
- 44:20Yeah, well we include it on the path. You can visit either Arts
- 44:23and Thoughts Studio or the Pottery Place, two places that are kind of arts
- 44:29based businesses right in Putnam County, and you can check in at those.
- 44:32And then I think one of the fun library events that they are coordinating is
- 44:37an Irish dance themed night or program, so you can go and learn learn
- 44:45to dance a jig, I guess, so that'll be really fun. Yeah,
- 44:49so there and then some live music at a couple of our restaurants are
- 44:52available there too, And Mitch and and I know you get in trouble sometimes
- 44:57if you mentioned restaurants and leave some of them off. But give me some
- 45:00of the restaurants that are involved in this. God, there's everything from Thai
- 45:05Valley Kitchen to Whiskey Taco we have on the list this year, Bridge Cafe
- 45:12and Bistro, Firestad Grill, win Til Dairy Freeze. Trying to think of
- 45:15our folks kind of that are a little bit maybe less known. Valley Cakes
- 45:22and Cafe over in PoCA. They're literally all from one of the county to
- 45:29the next. We have a restaurant where you can stop in and find a
- 45:31good bite to eat and earn earn points towards some fun flag. We have
- 45:36been to lunch boxes. You can earn this year and achieve board. So
- 45:39it'll be fun and a lot of people, I think, you know,
- 45:43West Virginia has really become a food destination, you know, and of course
- 45:46our good friend chef Paul Smith has had a lot to do with that here
- 45:49in the Valley being the James Beard Award finalists. But the area is becoming
- 45:53quite a mecca for foods and particularly over in the county that I call home
- 46:00over in Putnam County. I mean you mentioned some of those that are absolutely
- 46:02fantastic, good, locally owned and operated businesses there that are all they're taking
- 46:07part in this. That's right. I was just in Hurricane last night at
- 46:13Sergio's for a birthday dinner and it was delicious. That's that's our newest restaurant,
- 46:17and Main Street Creamer is also in Hurricane, and Bell Knapp are friends
- 46:22that have been there for a good long while. Belknap Dough, I've just
- 46:27listened all the rest. You like me? You like me? Yeah,
- 46:32yeah, I can. It's part of my job to eat at all of
- 46:35them. But yes, yeah, I love supporting our locally owned spots and
- 46:38love to eat there myself. And we just want others, whether you live
- 46:43here in Putnham County or you're coming in from out of town, we want
- 46:45you to experience that same hospitality and the good food and good art scene that
- 46:50we have here. Give us the website and the social media that people can
- 46:53learn more because this is kind of this is a month long thing and again
- 46:58you can get points to win play County Swag, So give us all that
- 47:01in fall, right, So you can get there at Tastes and Talents dot
- 47:06com with s's or visit PUTNAMWV dot com and click on the Tastes and Talents
- 47:10link and then if you look for the Putnam Come to Show Them Visitors Bureau
- 47:15on Facebook or Instagram. We'll be posting gift card giveaways on there. So
- 47:20that's a great opportunity for you to try a restaurant maybe you've never been to
- 47:23before if you win one of those gift cards. So yeah, Facebook and
- 47:28Instagram are the best places to learn about taste and talent. All right,
