- 0:23Ron Meyers: Hello, my friends.
- 0:24Ron Meyers: It is so good to be with you today.
- 0:27Ron Meyers: I just feel so good because today is a breakthrough for someone that is listening to this show.
- 0:34Ron Meyers: You know you've been asking and praying for some things in your life, and here we are together.
- 0:39Ron Meyers: And today's show is definitely going to speak some life into you.
- 0:44Ron Meyers: And today's thought-provoking question to start the show is this Have you ever judged someone before you ever knew their story?
- 0:53Ron Meyers: Maybe it was the clothes they wore, the tattoos on their arm, the color of their hair, the neighborhood they lived in, or maybe the motorcycle they rode.
- 1:03Ron Meyers: Years ago, I had an encounter with a biker I'll never forget.
- 1:08Ron Meyers: His name was Randy.
- 1:10Ron Meyers: He was enormous.
- 1:12Ron Meyers: Leather vest, work boots, long hair, beer on his breath.
- 1:16Ron Meyers: He got nose to nose with me in a crowded nightclub and said, Ron Myers, I could take you outside and break you like a matchstick.
- 1:27Ron Meyers: I thought, Lord, this is how my life is gonna end.
- 1:32Ron Meyers: But then something happened that neither one of us expected.
- 1:36Ron Meyers: I'm going to tell you the rest of the story a little later.
- 1:40Ron Meyers: And now let me introduce you to today's guest, another biker.
- 1:45Ron Meyers: Man, he's big, he looks tough, he has the whole package, the leather, the bike, the boots.
- 1:52Ron Meyers: But before the conversation is over, you'll discover that one of the toughest looking men you'll ever meet has one of the softest hearts you'll ever encounter.
- 2:03Ron Meyers: You'll hear about the little boy who asked, Who killed Jesus?
- 2:07Ron Meyers: Or the growing man who heard the whisper, get up.
- 2:11Ron Meyers: And the biker who discovered that true strength isn't found in throwing punches, it's found in surrendering your life to Jesus Christ.
- 2:22Ron Meyers: Now let's take a listen to my conversation with Rick the biker.
- 2:27Ron Meyers: Rick, who is Jesus to you?
- 2:30SPEAKER_05: He is my savior.
- 2:32SPEAKER_05: You look at the man that he was, you look at what he did.
- 2:38SPEAKER_05: He didn't get drugged to the cross, he went to the cross for who?
- 2:43SPEAKER_05: For us.
- 2:44SPEAKER_05: And what brings tears to my eyes is he went to the cross for me.
- 2:50SPEAKER_05: For me.
- 2:51Ron Meyers: Amen.
- 2:52Ron Meyers: Yeah, it really is something to grasp that even if we were the only person in the world, he'd still go to the cross for us.
- 3:02Ron Meyers: That's how much he loves us.
- 3:04Ron Meyers: So where did you first meet Jesus?
- 3:07Ron Meyers: Did you have Jesus in your family as a as a child?
- 3:10Ron Meyers: And were you drugged to church every Sunday?
- 3:13SPEAKER_05: Well, my family was was Catholic.
- 3:16SPEAKER_05: And one day we sat in front of the TV and it was the greatest story ever told, and Ten Commandments was on and all this.
- 3:25SPEAKER_05: It was about that time of the year, and asked my mother, I said, Mama, who who killed Jesus?
- 3:31SPEAKER_05: Because I was looking for somebody to blame.
- 3:33SPEAKER_05: And she turned and looked at me right in the eyes and said, Ricky, we killed Jesus.
- 3:39SPEAKER_05: That affected me.
- 3:41Ron Meyers: How old were you at that age, you think?
- 3:43SPEAKER_05: About five.
- 3:45Ron Meyers: Wow.
- 3:45Ron Meyers: That's a kind of a powerful question to ask your mom at five years old.
- 3:49SPEAKER_05: Yeah, that people don't realize the effect that Hollywood has on our families' lives for good and for evil.
- 4:00Ron Meyers: So did this begin a journey in your life that you wanted to find out more about who Jesus was?
- 4:07SPEAKER_05: And it was that question almost was like I put my hand up and God saw it and said, Okay, you want to know?
- 4:16SPEAKER_05: I got an answer for you.
- 4:18SPEAKER_05: And he dealt with me throughout the rest of my life until 2005, right after Katrina, when I was at this church and sitting next to the woman that would be my third wife, because the other two had had gone on.
- 4:35SPEAKER_05: And I heard a voice and it said, Get up.
- 4:38SPEAKER_05: But it was even softer than that.
- 4:41SPEAKER_05: I turned and I looked at her and I said, What did you say?
- 4:44SPEAKER_05: She's I didn't say nothing.
- 4:46SPEAKER_05: She wasn't even singing.
- 4:47SPEAKER_05: It was during the the the part where they were they were singing a lot of gospel songs.
- 4:52SPEAKER_05: It was beautiful.
- 4:53SPEAKER_05: But she wasn't singing, she was just listening.
- 4:56SPEAKER_05: And then I heard it again.
- 4:57SPEAKER_05: Get up.
- 4:58SPEAKER_05: And I turned around, there was nobody around behind me.
- 5:01SPEAKER_05: I'm getting just pulled into it, you know.
- 5:05SPEAKER_05: And I felt something on my arm, and I looked and there's nothing there.
- 5:09SPEAKER_05: And I'm thinking, better get up.
- 5:11SPEAKER_05: And I turned to her and I say, Amy, I'm guess I'm going up to the altar.
- 5:16SPEAKER_05: Okay.
- 5:17SPEAKER_05: So up I get, and I walk up to the altar.
- 5:20SPEAKER_05: I understand, Ron.
- 5:21SPEAKER_05: Thirty-five years I've been a biker.
- 5:24SPEAKER_05: You don't show any emotion except for maybe anger and joyment.
- 5:32SPEAKER_05: You don't show tears.
- 5:35SPEAKER_05: That's weakness.
- 5:36SPEAKER_05: You might cry for a brother that that went down, that died.
- 5:41SPEAKER_05: You might cry for his family, but that's it.
- 5:44Ron Meyers: So you're Mr.
- 5:45Ron Meyers: Tough Macho Rick the Biker sitting in church, and you hear a voice, a quiet voice, that says to stand up, but you kind of fight that, but finally you stood up.
- 5:56Ron Meyers: Did you go to the altar?
- 5:57SPEAKER_05: I went to the altar before I hit my knees.
- 6:02Ron Meyers: Sounds like you ran into Jesus at that altar.
- 6:05SPEAKER_05: I did.
- 6:06SPEAKER_05: The Holy Spirit was there waiting on me.
- 6:09SPEAKER_05: They say, they say Jesus, Jesus is a gentleman.
- 6:13SPEAKER_05: God's a gentleman.
- 6:14SPEAKER_05: God is sovereign.
- 6:17SPEAKER_05: He is the master of all.
- 6:20SPEAKER_05: He is the king of the universe.
- 6:22SPEAKER_05: He made it, he owns it, he owns us, whether we like it or not.
- 6:27SPEAKER_05: He called me to that altar.
- 6:30Ron Meyers: So that day you had a date with destiny.
- 6:34Ron Meyers: Yes, sir.
- 6:34Ron Meyers: Destiny was knocking on the door and about to change your life forever.
- 6:40Ron Meyers: Now, this was in 2005, right after Katrina.
- 6:45Ron Meyers: So what was the change?
- 6:47Ron Meyers: What happened to Rick the biker?
- 6:50SPEAKER_05: My stone heart became flush.
- 6:53Ron Meyers: Yeah, the Bible says he gives us a new heart.
- 6:57SPEAKER_05: He certainly did that to me.
- 6:59SPEAKER_05: He certainly did.
- 7:01SPEAKER_05: I had been told that I was a good man.
- 7:03SPEAKER_05: You're a good person.
- 7:04SPEAKER_05: You you do nice things for people.
- 7:08SPEAKER_05: I also did a lot of horrible things to people because of the life that I was living.
- 7:15SPEAKER_05: Now I'm ashamed of what I used to be, but I hit my knees because what Jesus made me.
- 7:23SPEAKER_05: Because if not for God's Holy Spirit, they'd have found me under a bridge under I-10 dead, either because of something I put up my nose or in my arm, and I'd have been alone, utterly alone, because the Holy Spirit wouldn't have been with me.
- 7:39SPEAKER_05: I would not have been known to God, and I wouldn't want to have been known to God.
- 7:45Ron Meyers: But there are a lot of people listening and say, well, that guy, that was just his time.
- 7:52Ron Meyers: You know what?
- 7:52Ron Meyers: I'm enjoying life right now, and I don't have God in my life, and I'm having fun.
- 7:58Ron Meyers: I'm going down the road with my hair blowing on my motorcycle, and I don't have Jesus.
- 8:03Ron Meyers: So, you know, what's the big deal?
- 8:05SPEAKER_05: The big deal is time is getting short.
- 8:08SPEAKER_05: And it's getting shorter.
- 8:10SPEAKER_05: You think you got tomorrow?
- 8:12SPEAKER_05: There was a fellow, and if there's any banditos listening, and I'm sure there is, because there are some believers in the banditos.
- 8:21SPEAKER_05: It is a secular club, but there are people with heart in that club.
- 8:28SPEAKER_05: And there are people whose heart whose hearts are owned by Christ.
- 8:33SPEAKER_05: And there was a fellow, he was loved by a lot of people, as they called him Bandito Rock.
- 8:39SPEAKER_05: One day he was just riding down the road, not acting a fool.
- 8:43SPEAKER_05: When you're when you become a bandito, you learn not to act a fool.
- 8:47SPEAKER_05: His front tire hit a spot in the road and it just pulled him off the road.
- 8:52SPEAKER_05: He went down and got hit by two vehicles.
- 8:55SPEAKER_05: He was killed instantly.
- 8:57SPEAKER_05: He thought he had tomorrow.
- 8:59SPEAKER_05: He thought he had months, years.
- 9:02SPEAKER_05: I ride that bike and I know when God calls me, I ain't got no more days.
- 9:08Ron Meyers: A lot of us we're we are planning tomorrow.
- 9:11Ron Meyers: And the Bible says that enjoy today because we don't know what tomorrow will bring.
- 9:19Ron Meyers: What wisdom would you share with somebody listening that's just living for today?
- 9:25Ron Meyers: And you know what?
- 9:27Ron Meyers: Jesus is in the rear view mirror, it's not even in the rear view mirror.
- 9:31Ron Meyers: He's just nowhere in their life.
- 9:33SPEAKER_05: All I could tell really is tomorrow is not promised to us.
- 9:38SPEAKER_05: As a matter of fact, the next 10 minutes is not promised to us.
- 9:42SPEAKER_05: You could hop on that bike, get in that car, and you think I'm driving safe, I'm operating this bike reasonably, but the enemy is everywhere.
- 9:53SPEAKER_05: And if Jesus doesn't have you, who does?
- 9:56SPEAKER_05: And it's either or.
- 9:58SPEAKER_05: You think, oh, I am me, I own myself.
- 10:01SPEAKER_05: No, you don't.
- 10:04SPEAKER_05: Somebody owns you.
- 10:08SPEAKER_05: And they're going to do with you what they want.
- 10:11SPEAKER_05: Satan is going to make you sick, Satan is going to make you feel bad.
- 10:16SPEAKER_05: Satan's going to infuriate you and make you say things that you normally wouldn't say to a person.
- 10:26SPEAKER_05: Somebody you care so very much about, you're going to say some things to them that hurts.
- 10:33Ron Meyers: Now you say that almost like you know that for a fact because that was your old life.
- 10:39SPEAKER_05: That wasn't me.
- 10:40Ron Meyers: That was your old life.
- 10:41SPEAKER_05: That wasn't me.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 10:43SPEAKER_05: You're a meanie.
- 10:45SPEAKER_05: I was.
- 10:46SPEAKER_05: Wow.
- 10:46SPEAKER_05: I try not to be.
- 10:48SPEAKER_05: Because it becomes so ingrained.
- 10:51SPEAKER_05: It's a drug.
- 10:52SPEAKER_05: I don't do drugs.
- 10:54Ron Meyers: Well, when when you can intimidate people with your size and strength and your voice, it also kind of, I would think, gives you a little bit of power.
- 11:04Ron Meyers: That's the drug.
- 11:06Ron Meyers: So then now tell us how does Mr.
- 11:11Ron Meyers: Tough biker, Rick DeBiker, now Jesus turned you into a cupcake.
- 11:18Ron Meyers: According to Ramona.
- 11:20Ron Meyers: So what's life like with Jesus now?
- 11:23SPEAKER_05: Before, like I would tell people, there's nobody I couldn't whip.
- 11:28SPEAKER_05: I knew how to f I learned how to fight, and when I was in the army, I learned how to fight.
- 11:32SPEAKER_05: Before that, I was I was a wimpy little kid.
- 11:36SPEAKER_05: I was bullied all the time.
- 11:38SPEAKER_05: Because of that, I learned how to fight in the army.
- 11:41SPEAKER_05: I learned how to defend myself.
- 11:43SPEAKER_05: I learned how to hurt people.
- 11:45SPEAKER_05: Jesus got a hold of me and he says, I will repay.
- 11:50SPEAKER_05: Revenge is not for you.
- 11:53SPEAKER_05: Aggression is not for you.
- 11:56SPEAKER_05: I am the way, the truth, and the light.
- 12:01SPEAKER_05: No one comes to the Father but through me, and I know you want to see him.
- 12:06SPEAKER_05: Do you?
- 12:07SPEAKER_05: And I ask anybody out there who's at all curious, who do you want to see?
- 12:13SPEAKER_05: Do you want to see God the Father?
- 12:16SPEAKER_05: Do you want to see him on his white throne angry?
- 12:19SPEAKER_05: Or do you want him to say, Welcome home, my son or my daughter?
- 12:26Ron Meyers: Amen.
- 12:28Ron Meyers: So you have a mission to tell people about Jesus.
- 12:33Ron Meyers: Here's Rick the Biker.
- 12:34Ron Meyers: I'll even have a few sound effects.
- 12:36Ron Meyers: We'll have the little bike going.
- 12:41Ron Meyers: Have to put a little step in Wolfan.
- 12:43Ron Meyers: All right, do your thing.
- 12:45Ron Meyers: And what do you got for me there, Mr.
- 12:47Ron Meyers: Biker?
- 12:48SPEAKER_05: I pointed one of my patches, and it says, Satan sucks.
- 12:54SPEAKER_05: And it's not, it's not being vulgar, but it's true.
- 13:00SPEAKER_05: He will pull money from you.
- 13:04SPEAKER_05: He will pull your health from you.
- 13:07SPEAKER_05: He will pull your very life from you.
- 13:11SPEAKER_05: Only Jesus will save you.
- 13:14SPEAKER_05: Come follow me.
- 13:15SPEAKER_05: We'll park somewhere and I'll tell you all about my Jesus.
- 13:20Ron Meyers: Yeah.
- 13:21Ron Meyers: That's good.
- 13:22Ron Meyers: That's good.
- 13:24Ron Meyers: So how is life now?
- 13:25Ron Meyers: You look you just seem so happy, and you and Ramona.
- 13:29Ron Meyers: Uh she's your third wife.
- 13:31Ron Meyers: Fourth.
- 13:31Ron Meyers: She's your fourth.
- 13:33Ron Meyers: My fourth wife.
- 13:35Ron Meyers: My last wife.
- 13:37Ron Meyers: Your last wife.
- 13:38Ron Meyers: So you guys seem like you're just a marriage made in heaven.
- 13:43SPEAKER_05: With Jesus in the middle of this marriage, it cannot fail.
- 13:49Ron Meyers: Amen.
- 13:50Ron Meyers: Before we go, can I get you to pray for the listeners right now?
- 13:55Ron Meyers: Anyone that is listening to this, Rick the Biker, alias Cupcake, is going to pray for you.
- 14:03SPEAKER_05: Almighty God.
- 14:05SPEAKER_05: You have your children listening, but you also have those who have not asked for the Holy Spirit to come into their heart.
- 14:15SPEAKER_05: They are not yet your family, they might think they are.
- 14:19SPEAKER_05: But I also know that you love them so very much.
- 14:23SPEAKER_05: You went to the cross for them.
- 14:25SPEAKER_05: You offered to take their sins for them, to feel the pain that we should feel because you took it for us.
- 14:37SPEAKER_05: Please, O Lord, reach out to them, call them, call them to repentance, and call them to salvation.
- 14:45SPEAKER_05: Those of you listening who have not yet asked for Christ in your heart, it's easy.
- 14:52SPEAKER_05: It doesn't cost you anything, but it does change your life.
- 14:58SPEAKER_05: It puts you on the track of happiness and love.
- 15:03SPEAKER_05: Almighty God, please, please, please reach out to these who don't know you.
- 15:11SPEAKER_05: They might have been just dumbing through the internet or on a radio.
- 15:15SPEAKER_05: Grab their ears, grab their hearts, and change their lives and give them life.
- 15:23SPEAKER_05: In Jesus' name I beg you, please, God.
- 15:27SPEAKER_05: Jesus Almighty, at the right hand of the Father, include this into your intercessory prayers to God the Father.
- 15:38SPEAKER_05: You know what is needed.
- 15:40SPEAKER_05: Go to them, become real to them, and make them my brothers and sisters.
- 15:45SPEAKER_05: Those of you listening, you take on this offer.
- 15:50SPEAKER_05: You might not have a mother, father, brother, sister, or you might have dozens, but this is a royal family, and you will be a prince or princess.
- 16:01SPEAKER_05: In Jesus' name.
- 16:04Ron Meyers: Amen.
- 16:07Ron Meyers: Wow.
- 16:08Ron Meyers: What a conversation with Rick.
- 16:10Ron Meyers: I love Rick.
- 16:11Ron Meyers: And as I listened to Rick share his story, I couldn't stop thinking about Randy.
- 16:16Ron Meyers: Remember the biker I mentioned at the beginning?
- 16:19Ron Meyers: Years ago, he confronted me in a crowded nightclub.
- 16:23Ron Meyers: He towered over me.
- 16:24Ron Meyers: He smelled of beer.
- 16:25Ron Meyers: He looked angry.
- 16:26Ron Meyers: He told me he could take me outside and break me like a matchstick.
- 16:31Ron Meyers: And there wasn't a thing I could do.
- 16:33Ron Meyers: I couldn't outrun him.
- 16:34Ron Meyers: I couldn't outfight him.
- 16:36Ron Meyers: So I silently prayed.
- 16:38Ron Meyers: Lord, help me.
- 16:40Ron Meyers: Then these three words came out of my mouth.
- 16:44Ron Meyers: Not because I had planned them, not because I was trying to preach.
- 16:48Ron Meyers: They simply came from somewhere deep.
- 16:52Ron Meyers: I looked at him and said, God loves you.
- 16:56Ron Meyers: Those three words changed everything, my friend.
- 16:59Ron Meyers: Instead of throwing a punch, he smiled and said, Man, I'm going to buy you a beer.
- 17:05Ron Meyers: Later, I learned something I never could have imagined.
- 17:09Ron Meyers: Just months after that encounter, Randy was diagnosed with a terminal brain tumor.
- 17:15Ron Meyers: His wife called, asking if Ron Myers Productions would help with a fundraiser for his medical expenses.
- 17:23Ron Meyers: Short time later, Randy passed away.
- 17:25Ron Meyers: And before he died, he accepted Jesus Christ as his savior.
- 17:29Ron Meyers: You know what that reminds me of?
- 17:31Ron Meyers: We almost never know what someone else is carrying.
- 17:34Ron Meyers: The angry person, the rude person, the biker, the homeless man, the executive, the waitress, the teenager.
- 17:40Ron Meyers: Friends, everyone has a story.
- 17:43Ron Meyers: And everyone is fighting a battle we can't see.
- 17:48Ron Meyers: Rick reminded us that tomorrow isn't promised.
- 17:52Ron Meyers: Randy reminded me that sometimes God puts someone in our path for just one reason to plant a seed.
- 18:00Ron Meyers: Maybe that's why the Holy Spirit prompted those unexpected words.
- 18:05Ron Meyers: God loves you.
- 18:07Ron Meyers: I certainly didn't plan them, but God did.
- 18:10Ron Meyers: Looking back now, I don't believe that meeting was an accident.
- 18:14Ron Meyers: In fact, if you've listened to this show for a while, it was rigged.
- 18:19Ron Meyers: God had planned it.
- 18:20Ron Meyers: It was a divine appointment.
- 18:22Ron Meyers: One of those moments where God quietly reminds us He's always working behind the scenes.
- 18:29Ron Meyers: So what's the life lesson?
- 18:31Ron Meyers: Well, here's what I hope you'll remember: don't let appearances determine your compassion.
- 18:37Ron Meyers: Some of the toughest looking people are simply waiting for someone to tell them God loves you.
- 18:44Ron Meyers: Jesus never judged people by their appearance.
- 18:47Ron Meyers: He looked past the leather, past the failures, past the addictions, past the reputation.
- 18:54Ron Meyers: He always saw the heart.
- 18:57Ron Meyers: And that's exactly what he is asking us to do.
- 19:02Ron Meyers: Here's Ron's next step.
- 19:04Ron Meyers: This week, I want you to ask God to help you see people the way He sees them.
- 19:10Ron Meyers: Pray this simple prayer.
- 19:12Ron Meyers: Lord, let me see people through your eyes.
- 19:16Ron Meyers: And if God gives you an opportunity, and I believe he will, don't be afraid to speak life into someone.
- 19:24Ron Meyers: You never know.
- 19:25Ron Meyers: Three simple words, God loves you, may become the seed that changes someone's eternity.
- 19:31Ron Meyers: I'll be back in just a minute and close out today's show.
- 19:35Announcer: You're listening to Get the Hell Out of Your Life with your host, Ron Myers.
- 19:40Announcer: Real stories, real struggles, and real hope.
- 20:02SPEAKER_03: Now, when we show up on this planet, we're in Adam, and that's our problem.
- 20:07SPEAKER_03: It's not just what we're doing, it's not our lying and cheating and stealing hubcaps that's our core issue.
- 20:14SPEAKER_03: No, we've got a deeper problem at the core of our being.
- 20:19SPEAKER_03: We are in Adam, and that defines us.
- 20:22SPEAKER_03: We're in his lineage, we have his spiritual heritage.
- 20:26SPEAKER_03: And so salvation is calling upon the name of the Lord.
- 20:29SPEAKER_03: And when we do, well, we're asking God to take us out of Adam and put us in Christ.
- 20:36SPEAKER_03: The Bible says that whosoever believes in him will receive everlasting life.
- 20:42SPEAKER_03: It says we're saved by grace through faith.
- 20:46SPEAKER_03: It's not of ourselves, it's a gift of God, so that nobody can brag about it.
- 20:52SPEAKER_03: So God is standing at the door of every human heart, including your heart.
- 20:58SPEAKER_03: And he says, if you open the door, he will come in and live with you forever.
- 21:03SPEAKER_03: And then he says, I'll never leave you, I'll never forsake you.
- 21:08SPEAKER_03: Nobody can snatch you out of my hand.
- 21:12SPEAKER_03: And even when you're faithless, I remain faithful.
- 21:15SPEAKER_03: Those are incredible promises of our God.
- 21:19SPEAKER_03: And how does this relationship with him really begin?
- 21:22SPEAKER_03: Well, we call upon Jesus Christ, putting our confidence in his death, burial, and resurrection.
- 21:30SPEAKER_03: He died for your sins to take your sins away so that he could remember your sins no more, keeping no record of your wrongs.
- 21:38SPEAKER_03: And then he was raised from the dead to give you new resurrection life, life that endures forever, even beyond your physical death.
- 21:49SPEAKER_03: So we're saved by the death, burial, and resurrection of Jesus Christ.
- 21:54SPEAKER_03: And how does it all begin?
- 21:56SPEAKER_03: Call upon him, call upon the name of Jesus.
