- 0:04Speaker 1: I'll betching us.
- 0:05Speaker 2: We were on FT New York, met Luke. Great to
- 0:09Speaker 2: have you on, man, Congratulations, we haven't had you since
- 0:11Speaker 2: the deal. So first off, tell us how it all
- 0:14Speaker 2: went down this offseason for you.
- 0:16Speaker 1: Boys. Happy to be here, Thank you for this valuable
- 0:20Speaker 1: time on this wonderful show. It uh yeah, it's it's
- 0:25Speaker 1: an interesting process. I will say, I'm grateful to finally
- 0:29Speaker 1: be in a position where you know you're not just
- 0:33Speaker 1: scrapping at the bottom and hoping to fight your way
- 0:36Speaker 1: into finding a team a roster, and that's a really
- 0:39Speaker 1: tough place to be. So this game has its ups
- 0:43Speaker 1: and downs, and so it was a really smooth process.
- 0:46Speaker 1: It was learned a lot about myself, a lot about
- 0:49Speaker 1: the the the ins and outs of that industry and
- 0:52Speaker 1: the business side on both ends. And we just landed
- 0:56Speaker 1: in a similar I guess city and maybe in a
- 0:59Speaker 1: different location.
- 1:01Speaker 3: Right before we get into before we get into your
- 1:03Speaker 3: free agency and what happened and how you ended up
- 1:05Speaker 3: on the Mets, which I want to hear all about.
- 1:07Speaker 3: You played with Cody Bellinger last year? Is he worth
- 1:10Speaker 3: what they want him to be worth?
- 1:11Speaker 4: You?
- 1:12Speaker 3: You were there, you were in the you were in
- 1:13Speaker 3: the room with them every day for one hundred and
- 1:15Speaker 3: sixty two days, eight months of the year. Tell us
- 1:17Speaker 3: about Cody Bellinger and his worth, because there just seems
- 1:20Speaker 3: to be such as a difference of opinion on what
- 1:23Speaker 3: Cody Bellinger brings every day to a team.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, I've I've enjoyed being on his team more
- 1:31Speaker 1: than I've had facing him over my time. So great player,
- 1:35Speaker 1: even better, dude. You know, he's consistent, He's just the
- 1:39Speaker 1: same guy every day. He's a guy who won your clubhouse,
- 1:42Speaker 1: certainly a player you want on your team. He's got
- 1:45Speaker 1: unique skill set, plays the outfit really well, runs really well,
- 1:49Speaker 1: and he's got an interesting approach at the plate where
- 1:52Speaker 1: it's kind of shifts depending on where he's at in
- 1:54Speaker 1: the count, and he uses all the field well. So
- 1:59Speaker 1: I'm make sure that I get a text from him
- 2:01Speaker 1: telling me thank you for all that. But at the
- 2:04Speaker 1: end of the day, I don't know the numbers personally
- 2:08Speaker 1: is what he's kind of going for. I kind of
- 2:10Speaker 1: just see the surface level stuff. I think at the
- 2:13Speaker 1: end of the day, he's as good as somebody wants
- 2:16Speaker 1: to pay him, right, that's what they always say. But
- 2:18Speaker 1: he is a valuable player, and I think he'll be
- 2:20Speaker 1: a great fit. I think he's worth all the money
- 2:23Speaker 1: that he wants. But at the end of the day,
- 2:26Speaker 1: the teams will decide that if they see that fit.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Did you have a number going into free agency? Did
- 2:32Speaker 3: you have a number or years or.
- 2:37Speaker 4: Even I guess location or was it something that we'll
- 2:39Speaker 4: wait and see where you're at. And then if you
- 2:42Speaker 4: did have a number, how close did the market come
- 2:45Speaker 4: to your number?
- 2:47Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 2:47Speaker 1: What I'll say on that is I just wanted to
- 2:51Speaker 1: try to land somewhere for at least two years if possible.
- 2:55Speaker 1: I know it's super hard to get multi year deals
- 2:57Speaker 1: as a reliever, especially in the three three range, So
- 3:02Speaker 1: to be able to land a two year deal was
- 3:04Speaker 1: a huge thing for me and my family to just
- 3:07Speaker 1: have some of that stability, some of that time where
- 3:10Speaker 1: and as a player, you guys understand that you just
- 3:14Speaker 1: want to be able to know where you're going to
- 3:15Speaker 1: be each day, but really in the next year or so.
- 3:19Speaker 1: So having that come together was great. The number side
- 3:23Speaker 1: of things, not necessarily in my head. I mean, I
- 3:26Speaker 1: don't really know what that market even looks like. I
- 3:29Speaker 1: know as relievers it can be a bit off of
- 3:32Speaker 1: what the guy did before you, or you know, the
- 3:34Speaker 1: people that you're looking left and right on in the market. So,
- 3:39Speaker 1: you know, I'm very thankful for like a Brad Keller
- 3:41Speaker 1: to go out there and get a nice deal and
- 3:44Speaker 1: kind of open up some some availability for me in
- 3:48Speaker 1: that way. And you know the guys before him just
- 3:50Speaker 1: settying different different you know, levels to it and just
- 3:55Speaker 1: be impatient through it and to see what happens.
- 3:59Speaker 3: That's awesome. Brad kil we just had on last week,
- 4:01Speaker 3: by the way, he was super excited about going to Philly,
- 4:03Speaker 3: so you get to face him. You guys, you have
- 4:05Speaker 3: some eighth inning showdowns possibly here in the near future
- 4:08Speaker 3: in the NL, so you know, be careful what you
- 4:10Speaker 3: wish for sometimes, Luke, were you shocked all the Yankees?
- 4:14Speaker 3: Were you shocked? Did the Yankees make an offer or
- 4:16Speaker 3: did they did not make you an offer? Correct? Were
- 4:18Speaker 3: you kind of shocked that they didn't try at all?
- 4:20Speaker 3: Because you did some good things? I mean, you closed
- 4:22Speaker 3: when they needed a closer, right, you were their eighth
- 4:24Speaker 3: inning guy who needed an eighth inning guy. You've done
- 4:26Speaker 3: a lot of things for them. Were you a little
- 4:28Speaker 3: bit surprised that they didn't come to you? And say hey, look,
- 4:30Speaker 3: we really value what you did for us.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Yeah, they didn't have a fish off or anything of
- 4:36Speaker 1: that deal. Uh yeah, you know, I have forever ingrained
- 4:42Speaker 1: into that organization these last two years of just kind
- 4:47Speaker 1: of resurrecting my career, gaining momentum and just being able
- 4:51Speaker 1: to play on a platform that is just really high
- 4:55Speaker 1: and to do some really cool things and to you know,
- 4:58Speaker 1: from my own personal gain, just to gain that confidence
- 5:01Speaker 1: and that love for baseball once again and just see
- 5:04Speaker 1: where it takes me to the finish. Yeah, I think
- 5:07Speaker 1: I really really loved and value every single person in
- 5:12Speaker 1: that clubhouse and on the team in general, and would
- 5:16Speaker 1: have loved to have been able to continue to things
- 5:18Speaker 1: to roll. But you know, we know there's always a
- 5:21Speaker 1: chapter that ends, and somewhere else you got to pick up.
- 5:24Speaker 1: And I got all love for those guys. I hope
- 5:26Speaker 1: they do extremely well and achieve all they want. You know,
- 5:30Speaker 1: there's no bad blood on my end. I don't flee
- 5:33Speaker 1: there is. I've got a lot of great text and
- 5:35Speaker 1: support from them and wishing me the best, and obviously
- 5:39Speaker 1: they're not going to root for me when the time
- 5:41Speaker 1: comes near and we're in a subway series, But at
- 5:43Speaker 1: the end of the day, just a really really cool
- 5:48Speaker 1: time there and and everybody there was just so impactful
- 5:52Speaker 1: in my life.

- 6:55Speaker 4: Hello Fresh, talk about teammates, Well, you're going over play
- 6:59Speaker 4: with one Soto again, but Devin Williams is going to
- 7:03Speaker 4: be in the bullpen with you again.
- 7:04Speaker 3: He signed before you.
- 7:06Speaker 4: Was there any process where maybe you were going through
- 7:10Speaker 4: the free agent process and they were like, hey, you
- 7:11Speaker 4: know what we offered Devin Williams, or hey you know
- 7:15Speaker 4: what you saw we just signed Devin. Did he reach out?
- 7:19Speaker 4: Was there any like not recruiting or was there any
- 7:22Speaker 4: kind of like, hey, you know what I enjoyed or
- 7:25Speaker 4: didn't enjoy my time with Devin Williams. Got go into
- 7:29Speaker 4: that process for you and your decision.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Yeah, nothing to those elaborate details. It just was simple
- 7:39Speaker 1: like he signed pretty early, got an awesome deal for himself,
- 7:42Speaker 1: well earned stud picture, great dude, had a good relationship
- 7:47Speaker 1: with him each and every day in the trenches there.
- 7:51Speaker 1: I'm very grateful to be a teammate that is again
- 7:54Speaker 1: to him just be it his elite self and know
- 7:57Speaker 1: what that looks like, and to feed off of that
- 7:59Speaker 1: as well and help them in any way I can,
- 8:03Speaker 1: And you know, nothing recruiting wise, just you know, it
- 8:06Speaker 1: all speaks for itself. I mean, the Mets are a
- 8:09Speaker 1: big time organization who successful. You've seen the last couple
- 8:13Speaker 1: of years, and you know, being right there at the
- 8:15Speaker 1: World Series close to it, and then last year having
- 8:17Speaker 1: a lot of success and it just didn't go their way.
- 8:20Speaker 1: So they got all the pieces. One dear friend of
- 8:22Speaker 1: mine send me a nice text when I signed, and
- 8:27Speaker 1: we've stayed in touch off and on over the last
- 8:29Speaker 1: year or so. But Clay Holmes another one we've been
- 8:33Speaker 1: in a lot of communication with and the time we
- 8:36Speaker 1: spent in New York on the Yankee side. But just
- 8:39Speaker 1: really excited. I mean, it's they've obviously got a big
- 8:42Speaker 1: thing going on over there. They've got some pieces, they've
- 8:45Speaker 1: moved them, some things they've got to maybe continue to
- 8:48Speaker 1: work out. I'm unaware. I just show up and play,
- 8:52Speaker 1: but I'm very very excited to be a part of it.
- 8:54Speaker 1: And again, like that market in New York is unbeatable
- 8:58Speaker 1: in my opinion, and I just feel that intensity and
- 9:01Speaker 1: that the pressure just trying to rise to it and
- 9:04Speaker 1: try to put out some quality work.
- 9:07Speaker 3: Look, first of all, I thought Wan Sota lost everyone's
- 9:09Speaker 3: phone number when he went to the Mets remember that
- 9:11Speaker 3: whole thing last year, remember so well, okay, because they said,
- 9:14Speaker 3: remember he said, oh, I don't have anyone's phone number.
- 9:16Speaker 3: I got a new phone. So apparently he liked you
- 9:19Speaker 3: enough to give you his new phone number. I don't
- 9:20Speaker 3: know if that's true, but that's nice to hear that
- 9:23Speaker 3: he reached out to you. So that's good.
- 9:26Speaker 1: Well, well, I'll make sure I clean up and say
- 9:28Speaker 1: on his part, you know, I had to. I did
- 9:32Speaker 1: d M him on Instagram at a certain point and
- 9:36Speaker 1: then got his number through that, So you know, the
- 9:39Speaker 1: timing of it, I'm not sure when it kind of
- 9:41Speaker 1: a line, but I'm not definitely not here to mix
- 9:45Speaker 1: up timelines and to That's that later, Dave, But it
- 9:51Speaker 1: doesn't matter.
- 9:52Speaker 3: It was just more funny that, you know, because everyone said, oh,
- 9:54Speaker 3: he didn't talk to any of his ex teammates, so whatever,
- 9:57Speaker 3: it's just funny to me.
- 9:58Speaker 1: That's great.
- 10:00Speaker 3: Dude, Do you and Devin Williams, are you gonna this
- 10:04Speaker 3: guy's just gonna stay in the same place you live
- 10:06Speaker 3: last year? Do you have to move places in New York?
- 10:09Speaker 3: Obviously for spring training go from Tampa to Port Saint Lucy,
- 10:11Speaker 3: But in New York, do you stay. I don't know
- 10:13Speaker 3: where you lived in New York. I'm not going to
- 10:15Speaker 3: ask you where you live. Well, will you just go
- 10:17Speaker 3: back to the same place and Devon do the same
- 10:19Speaker 3: thing and then just just drive maybe a little bit
- 10:21Speaker 3: different route, take the seven train or tuck the Long
- 10:24Speaker 3: Island Railroad into Queens instead of going to the Bronx.
- 10:28Speaker 1: Yeah, great question.
- 10:30Speaker 3: Well, but the better thing is will you take the
- 10:31Speaker 3: wrong train? Will you maybe make the wrong turn at
- 10:34Speaker 3: some point.
- 10:34Speaker 1: If you do, I'm not doing the train life. I'm
- 10:38Speaker 1: a Florida guy. I like to live in the woods.
- 10:41Speaker 1: I like peace and tranquility, and staring at a deer
- 10:43Speaker 1: every once in a while has its benefits and such
- 10:52Speaker 1: to be useful. I think Devin is more of that
- 10:56Speaker 1: that speed, and I'm sure he's got some sites to
- 11:00Speaker 1: where he'll be if not similar. I know you had
- 11:03Speaker 1: a good spot there in the city. So for me,
- 11:05Speaker 1: I'll be driving in and like you said, it'll be
- 11:08Speaker 1: a different route. You know, I'm sure this time will
- 11:11Speaker 1: be hit with a toll or something which add up,
- 11:14Speaker 1: but you know it'll be okay. We'll just get back
- 11:16Speaker 1: to the city.
- 11:19Speaker 4: Did the Mets talk to you like they talked to
- 11:21Speaker 4: Clay Holmes about starting. Did they have a conversation and say, hey,
- 11:25Speaker 4: you know what, there's a chance we like we see
- 11:27Speaker 4: what the adjustments you've made in the pen, could we
- 11:31Speaker 4: see you as a starter with the New York Mets.
- 11:36Speaker 1: So, yeah, that was an interesting feeler I threw out
- 11:39Speaker 1: there at one point. H You know, I did have
- 11:42Speaker 1: aspirations if that was something that was on the table,
- 11:46Speaker 1: not necessarily something that I was like one hundred percent
- 11:50Speaker 1: wanting to do. Necessarily, I felt like the relieving life
- 11:54Speaker 1: is kind of comeing to my own on and finding
- 11:57Speaker 1: ways to be more efficient and to try to be
- 12:00Speaker 1: my best version of myself. A lot of the teams
- 12:04Speaker 1: that I was communicating with it was kind of the
- 12:06Speaker 1: first question was I guess tech checking my temperature on
- 12:11Speaker 1: what my goal was from a relieving or a starting standpoint.
- 12:14Speaker 1: And I think basically one hundred percent of them we're
- 12:18Speaker 1: all looking for a relieving position. So I don't think
- 12:23Speaker 1: I take too much offense to that. I do feel
- 12:25Speaker 1: like it would be a better starter than I was.
- 12:27Speaker 1: And that's not to say that there's a big jump there.
- 12:31Speaker 1: I mean I didn't necessarily kill it, but I did
- 12:34Speaker 1: have some moments, but I think relieving is the way
- 12:38Speaker 1: to go.
- 12:43Speaker 5: I like to do one of the reflective questions, So
- 12:47Speaker 5: you know, if.
- 12:47Speaker 2: We go back like you could be, I mean, you've
- 12:49Speaker 2: had some you've had some different spots, You've you've been to, right,
- 12:53Speaker 2: I would say, because I was trying to do the
- 12:54Speaker 2: look as you were talking, like maybe twenty three, I
- 12:57Speaker 2: think you bounced to a few different teams, right, and
- 12:59Speaker 2: then end up with the Yanks.
- 13:00Speaker 5: And then of course you know, took off in the
- 13:03Speaker 5: reliever role.
- 13:03Speaker 2: I was even looking back to you know, twenty sixteen,
- 13:07Speaker 2: for example, I think you were battling for a starting
- 13:09Speaker 2: spot with like Alex Reyes, who was super talented, and
- 13:11Speaker 2: you just look right like he's been out of the
- 13:13Speaker 2: sport for years, right, And it was a guy that
- 13:15Speaker 2: we thought might be the best pitching prospect in baseball.
- 13:17Speaker 2: So my reflective question is, just like when you do
- 13:20Speaker 2: a look back and you sign a contract like this
- 13:22Speaker 2: for big money with a big market team, do you
- 13:25Speaker 2: think back to the whole journey just now?
- 13:31Speaker 1: I promised myself I wouldn't cry on this show. N Yeah,
- 13:37Speaker 1: I mean I absolutely do. I don't necessarily give myself
- 13:40Speaker 1: time to do that. I think we never really slow down.
- 13:45Speaker 1: I think I just speak for myself. You just kind
- 13:46Speaker 1: of get in the rhythms of the day. I do
- 13:49Speaker 1: know for a fact that during the twenty twenty fourth season,
- 13:54Speaker 1: you know, I had nothing to lose. It was just
- 13:56Speaker 1: a complete like you know, I didn't know I was
- 14:00Speaker 1: in a play again. I just was at that mental
- 14:02Speaker 1: battle of like injuries and just is this what I
- 14:06Speaker 1: want to do? And then you get that spark of
- 14:08Speaker 1: like I'm not a quitter, like I'll go until you
- 14:11Speaker 1: know they tell me not. So there's just several times
- 14:14Speaker 1: to that year where things to success just kind of
- 14:16Speaker 1: continue to build. The positions changed out of the pen,
- 14:20Speaker 1: and just got kind of two cooler moments, you know,
- 14:22Speaker 1: higher leverage, and just had a lot of reflecting moments
- 14:26Speaker 1: that kind of hit your question. That hit me the
- 14:29Speaker 1: hardest then was just like where I was, you know
- 14:32Speaker 1: what I went through, and you know my own journey
- 14:34Speaker 1: and to where I was now is just overwhelming. It
- 14:37Speaker 1: was just a very peaceful, humbling, grateful time to just
- 14:42Speaker 1: show up every day. And you know, my two biggest
- 14:45Speaker 1: prayers were just stay healthy and be just be a
- 14:48Speaker 1: good dude. Just be a good teammates show up and
- 14:50Speaker 1: just be consistent. And you know, I didn't really care.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I mean, of course I cared to be successful, but
- 14:58Speaker 1: I wasn't really asking to myself to like be good
- 15:01Speaker 1: or bad. I just wanted to be healthy, to see
- 15:03Speaker 1: what was possible. Like if it was like, hey, you stink,
- 15:07Speaker 1: you're not cut out for it anymore, Like go get
- 15:10Speaker 1: a different job, Like sure, I'll do it. But if
- 15:14Speaker 1: it works out the way you you know, envision it,
- 15:16Speaker 1: and your confidence is at an all time high and
- 15:18Speaker 1: you what you always thought you were going to be,
- 15:21Speaker 1: then let's ride on that as well. And you know,
- 15:24Speaker 1: I think I hope whoever I shocked or whatever I did, like,
- 15:28Speaker 1: there's no shock in my mind, right, it was just
- 15:30Speaker 1: a time where it just finally came. And I think
- 15:32Speaker 1: that's the whole the cool part about journeys, and you know,
- 15:36Speaker 1: especially in our game, is like you could be good
- 15:38Speaker 1: at thirty five, you could be good at twenty one,
- 15:41Speaker 1: you could be good the whole time, you could stink
- 15:43Speaker 1: the whole time. But I think lasting the course of
- 15:46Speaker 1: time and to look back and to be like the
- 15:49Speaker 1: percentages are pretty small each year you get to stay
- 15:51Speaker 1: in the big leagues is a pretty cool and just
- 15:54Speaker 1: humbling moment.
- 15:55Speaker 3: Overall, a great degree. But let's say one thing straight.
- 15:58Speaker 3: You went to Florida State. There's not a lot of
- 16:00Speaker 3: jobs you're you're qualified for. Let's just make sure we
- 16:04Speaker 3: established that fact. Because you're like, oh, I could go
- 16:06Speaker 3: find another job. I don't know what those jobs are.
- 16:08Speaker 3: My wife went to Florida State. She doesn't work, so
- 16:11Speaker 3: you know, I don't know what.
- 16:12Speaker 5: We have Florida battling going on right now. We've got
- 16:15Speaker 5: mister UF, mister mister f s U.
- 16:18Speaker 2: If you want to have an alliance, I'm happy to
- 16:20Speaker 2: do that against them.
- 16:22Speaker 1: You know. I look, I'm not going to comment on
- 16:25Speaker 1: my wife by any means. I think that was very
- 16:28Speaker 1: honorable of you to do that. You know, I've looked
- 16:35Speaker 1: at the Mets colors. The funny thing, right, I'm looking
- 16:38Speaker 1: at the colors and I'm just going, okay. The great time.
- 16:42Speaker 1: I wasn't prepared for it. My agents didn't tell me
- 16:45Speaker 1: is the team certainly didn't speak on it, and I
- 16:48Speaker 1: didn't have that reflecting to think that this switch was
- 16:50Speaker 1: going to be one of transition. I came across an
- 16:55Speaker 1: FSU hat and it was near like a Mets shirt,
- 16:58Speaker 1: and I'm just like, oh boy, those are just different colors,
- 17:02Speaker 1: you know. But I certainly can stand behind it and
- 17:05Speaker 1: just kind of take like a a small exception for
- 17:09Speaker 1: my time wearing the gear, and then I'll just shower
- 17:12Speaker 1: and make sure that I got the right garding gold on.
- 17:16Speaker 1: But they do not correlate to be the same. UF.
- 17:18Speaker 1: It's not the Mets.
- 17:24Speaker 3: That's not as mess as you can get right there.
- 17:26Speaker 3: I'm sorry that Mets.
- 17:28Speaker 1: Like a knockoff helmet. It looks pretty cheap.
- 17:33Speaker 3: This is not enough.
- 17:35Speaker 1: It's just like a it's like a retro like you
- 17:37Speaker 1: couldn't use their trademarks, so you decided to paint it yourself.
- 17:41Speaker 3: This is I mean, I have plenty of real ones.
- 17:43Speaker 3: I just can't get up because I'm tethered in this
- 17:45Speaker 3: is real. This is real.
- 17:46Speaker 1: This is real. This is the real one that.
- 17:49Speaker 3: We are. You in Florida right now? Are you in Florida?
- 17:52Speaker 3: You still live in Florida?
- 17:55Speaker 1: I am currently in Tallahassee, Florida.
- 17:58Speaker 3: Oh yeah, of course. Okay, that's that's why you have
- 18:01Speaker 3: the blanket. Everyone's commenting on how cozy that green blanket
- 18:03Speaker 3: looks behind you. The thing about it is. We're having
- 18:06Speaker 3: a cold front here, so make sure that you bundle
- 18:09Speaker 3: up with that blanket because it is freezing here. It's
- 18:11Speaker 3: like sixty five craziers.
- 18:14Speaker 1: Oh it's it's as low as thirty five this morning,
- 18:19Speaker 1: we're seventy one.
- 18:20Speaker 3: Now, we got up to seventy one.
- 18:23Speaker 1: I didn't see what Yeah, you see this cold this morning.
- 18:28Speaker 1: I know when I was doing my quick ten miles
- 18:31Speaker 1: you know, CrossFit stuff.
- 18:33Speaker 3: Yeah, you're mad.
- 18:35Speaker 1: I'm really good at weight cross the weight the training
- 18:39Speaker 1: just expedentally, just super high here at Florida's Stay. We
- 18:42Speaker 1: put in the work ethic, that's for sure.
- 18:45Speaker 3: How much did you give to the new football complex
- 18:47Speaker 3: because I've seen it. It's pretty snazzy, you know.
- 18:52Speaker 1: I unfortunately, I feel like they got to prove themselves
- 18:56Speaker 1: to get back on the high horse here because I'm
- 18:59Speaker 1: not a fair Weather fan. But I know when I
- 19:01Speaker 1: went to school, we won a national championship and my
- 19:04Speaker 1: good friend Jabu Wins was leading leading the pack then
- 19:09Speaker 1: and there. So my expectations are pretty high.
- 19:13Speaker 5: You know.
- 19:13Speaker 1: I know it's a process, but at the end of
- 19:15Speaker 1: the day, we only have what we know, and what
- 19:19Speaker 1: I know is success. I've seen it, and I just
- 19:21Speaker 1: need to see it again, Luke.
- 19:25Speaker 4: National Championships the UF got when AJ went to school there,
- 19:29Speaker 4: like when he went to class there.
- 19:34Speaker 1: I don't know, is that like a primee.
- 19:37Speaker 3: Some of you have to go to college, some of
- 19:39Speaker 3: us skip it, you know, but I've seen him.
- 19:41Speaker 4: What a team.
- 19:44Speaker 1: Say, Oh, you didn't go to us.
- 19:46Speaker 3: Actually no, he didn't even attend any classes. Count See
- 19:53Speaker 3: it's not even.
- 19:54Speaker 1: An entire conversation and you never attended He's he goes right, yes, Okay,
- 20:03Speaker 1: I'm feeling a lot better about myself. Thank you.
- 20:08Speaker 5: Educational doing.
- 20:08Speaker 3: I just can't wait to see you in Port Saint Lucy.
- 20:10Speaker 3: And I'm just I might even bring you a Gator
- 20:13Speaker 3: baseball jersey to wear and just be like, hey, Luke,
- 20:15Speaker 3: look these colors match perfectly.
- 20:18Speaker 1: I did take a visit to Florida and then I
- 20:21Speaker 1: just said, nah, I'm gonna go to Florida State.
- 20:24Speaker 3: You couldn't get in. We get it. You had a
- 20:26Speaker 3: hard time spelling.
- 20:28Speaker 1: I was trying to play shortstop and pitts. So I
- 20:31Speaker 1: mean you can look however you want.
- 20:34Speaker 2: Hey, on that note, one more baseball went on our
- 20:37Speaker 2: way out, just playoff related to get us back on
- 20:40Speaker 2: track for one. I know, I think last time you
- 20:43Speaker 2: were on with us you talked about Yamamoto and how
- 20:45Speaker 2: you were a big fan and also kind of watched
- 20:47Speaker 2: the way he worked and it impacted you. So just
- 20:50Speaker 2: have to ask, I mean, what did you think of
- 20:52Speaker 2: the performance just now from him in the postseason Slash
- 20:56Speaker 2: World series.
- 21:00Speaker 1: Yeah, I mean it was it was a bit unreal, right,
- 21:03Speaker 1: Like it's you know, you watch your Otani's, you watch
- 21:06Speaker 1: those guys do like unbelievable stuff. And then from a
- 21:09Speaker 1: pitching side, right, you just want to see you want
- 21:12Speaker 1: to see some love. And uh, I just don't think people,
- 21:17Speaker 1: and I think you guys understand this just as well
- 21:19Speaker 1: as I do. The magnitude of him being available to
- 21:25Speaker 1: pitch that soon, like this doesn't make any sense. Like
- 21:30Speaker 1: it's taken me a full five days up to the
- 21:33Speaker 1: hour to the minute of pitching as a starter to
- 21:36Speaker 1: be ready to go fully healthy, to feel decent, and
- 21:40Speaker 1: he's doing it after throwing many pitches, Like it's unfathomable,
- 21:44Speaker 1: Like I don't know how you replicate that in any
- 21:46Speaker 1: other sport to do what he did at that stage
- 21:49Speaker 1: and to do it successfully, And you know, I also
- 21:53Speaker 1: want to give a big shout out to and I
- 21:55Speaker 1: don't know him, but Varlin. They were running him out
- 22:00Speaker 1: like crazy, and it was just so impressive to see
- 22:04Speaker 1: his availability and to be able to to do that
- 22:08Speaker 1: and successfully and have his his run too. So it's
- 22:11Speaker 1: really cool to see when players just kind of push
- 22:15Speaker 1: on the gas and just empty it and just to
- 22:18Speaker 1: see success through it. It's just a really cool thing
- 22:21Speaker 1: to sit back and watch.
- 22:22Speaker 2: Yeah, I think it's cool to hear from guys like
- 22:24Speaker 2: you when you're seeing that. So obviously you've been through
- 22:26Speaker 2: the playoff grind too, but to get your perspective.
- 22:29Speaker 3: You should try that at Florida State. Maybe they'll win
- 22:30Speaker 3: a College World Series. Oh wait, sorry too soon.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Sorry, Look, look that that would have hurt a lot
- 22:37Speaker 1: more if you would have went to UF. But it
- 22:43Speaker 1: is devastating, So thank you for freaking it up.
- 22:46Speaker 5: This is my time right now. I get one week.
- 22:48Speaker 3: You do. He's a Miami guys, so he didn't even
- 22:50Speaker 3: watch family must Stanley.
- 22:53Speaker 2: We've got Yeah, we've got like eight cousins all everybody went,
- 22:57Speaker 2: So this is a big week for us. We get
- 22:59Speaker 2: to have our one week. Yeah, Louke, great stuff man,
- 23:03Speaker 2: great to have you on all seriousness. Congratulations on the deal,
- 23:07Speaker 2: and yeah we're excited.
- 23:08Speaker 1: To see you in camp. Thank you, guys, appreciate you,
- 23:11Speaker 1: thanks for what you do and talk so
