- 0:00Is there anything that you would want to either reiterate or
- 0:05speak on before we close? Is there anything that you feel
- 0:12that needs to be said? I would say that just be open to
- 0:21this. Follow.
- 0:24Your heart is calling you home right now, right here, right
- 0:30now. I'm in this moment.
- 0:34And if this is spoken to you in any way, shape or form, or you
- 0:39can just sense the something here that I haven't quite
- 0:44grasped yet, listen to what your heart has to say about it.
- 0:49Not your mind, not your head, but your heart.
- 0:54Because the heart will lead you home.
- 0:57Because the heart never lies, never lies.
- 1:14Hey, I think it's the most beautiful being here on this
- 1:19podcast. I am so happy to have you on the
- 1:22show. Thank you for inviting me,
- 1:24Terry. I'm looking forward to the
- 1:26conversation and exploration. Yeah.
- 1:28I'd be like, thank you. And it's really interesting
- 1:32because my first love in the work that I do with doing your
- 1:36own acoustic programming, which means that I've become a little
- 1:39bit, I won't say a connoisseur quite how do you say fastidious
- 1:43with my words. And yet I'm really mindful of
- 1:47what I say with you because there is an essence.
- 1:53And for those of you who are about to get into listening to
- 1:58this, if you're in love, Hiccup, totally.
- 2:01If you are looking for your own inner bliss, you've been warmed
- 2:08by beliefs that have kept you stuck, you are not going to want
- 2:13to miss this because we've also got something really exciting
- 2:17lined up towards the end. So get yourself your favorite
- 2:21drink or sit down, relax and take it all in.
- 2:24So let's ask the first question before we go into your story or
- 2:31your beginnings of being in the Roman Catholic Church, which I
- 2:35feel is probably quite significant to your story.
- 2:39Where did you discover who am I really?
- 2:43When was that question brought about for you?
- 2:48It came about really in my meditative journey, the deeper I
- 2:53went into meditation. As the years went by and things
- 2:59started to open up for me, that inquiry really starting to
- 3:04emerge as a deep question and knowing that wasn't at that time
- 3:10sure where it was coming from, that there was more here to life
- 3:14than at that point that I'd realized.
- 3:17And I read a few things, not a lot.
- 3:19I watched a few videos again, a lot, but there was a recognition
- 3:25that there was something much deeper to be realized.
- 3:28And that was. So I began meditation in the
- 3:30year 2000. By 2009, I'd left my old world
- 3:36behind as a chartered civil engineer and director of a large
- 3:39business to follow what was a very strong spiritual calling,
- 3:45enough to be able to leave a you know, that that career behind,
- 3:48right at the top of the profession.
- 3:51That is amazing. Like you.
- 3:53So you just packed up and left behind all that engineering
- 3:59wisdom and everything you had because you discovered the
- 4:05essence. Yeah, I would say I discovered
- 4:10it at that point. There was a knowing that he was
- 4:12calling me and that calling couldn't be ignored any longer.
- 4:16I'd felt it about five years earlier and that by the 2009
- 4:21came, I thought I just cannot leave this any longer.
- 4:24I've got to follow where this is taking How?
- 4:27Can I get that? Because there there could be
- 4:29people out there that are not self actualised this moment of
- 4:35time that are searching or understanding that there is an
- 4:40essence that's far greater than surely what's happening in the
- 4:44world now. What does it feel like?
- 4:47Can you describe that calling? It was a knowing, an inner
- 4:51knowing, I would say. It was so strong that there was
- 4:56just clear that there was something much more profound,
- 5:02much deeper that was calling me that yes, all these worldly
- 5:07achievements were great. I've gone from the from being a
- 5:11working class background to being the top of the the top of
- 5:14the industry in the profession that was working in and all that
- 5:19was great. And that could have continued.
- 5:21But this calling this knowing was so strong that it felt like
- 5:26all of that was insignificant in comparison to it.
- 5:29It just wow. Yeah.
- 5:31Like that? Just paled into insignificance.
- 5:33A lot of people when they come into the show find, I suppose it
- 5:37depends on who you are. And I feel like we all, we all
- 5:42have a calling, an innate calling.
- 5:45And I believe that when we ignore that we do suffer as a
- 5:50result. I know for sure that I suffered.
- 5:53And I also am very stubborn. So being a very stubborn human
- 5:58being, I, it took me to get to a point.
- 6:03And you hear about it all the time where people come to the
- 6:07end of each other. Just to give an idea of what I'm
- 6:10talking about here, I remember doing a podcast with a a
- 6:14wonderful man only a few months ago, and he described a moment
- 6:20where he changed his whole world and his whole life and he was
- 6:24holding onto the a bridge and he was saying, who am I?
- 6:29And and then he went on to that road of discovery.
- 6:33Did you find that you were having those kind of moments
- 6:38when before you realized you came into your essence of
- 6:43yourself actualization? Yeah, that happened in phases
- 6:48really. There was the calling happened
- 6:51whilst I was still working and I'm knowing that I was going to
- 6:54eventually have to leave that world behind and the benefits
- 6:58that came with that financially. But then after leaving that
- 7:02world behind and also changing house, leaving a relationship
- 7:07behind, that was a big, that was the biggest part, probably
- 7:11definitely put out a doubt. And then post that, when I
- 7:16walked into that void, there were phases within that where
- 7:21there was a realization that things I've been holding on to
- 7:25as identities were going to have to be let go of and that were no
- 7:31longer true about me. And they all had to go.
- 7:35And there was there. It wasn't all necessarily a bed
- 7:37of roses in that, but I was crystal clear that letting go of
- 7:43them was fundamental to peace and this realization, yeah, that
- 7:51with. And so I dropped them.
- 7:54I dropped them. When you say you dropped them, I
- 7:57love this because I know there'd be a lot of people out there
- 8:01that are suffering in so many ways and all these bad habits.
- 8:07And, and we know that all those parts of us and our habits and
- 8:12all those elements of our life really come back to our beliefs
- 8:17and what we are saying to ourselves and what we're telling
- 8:22ourselves. So what does a person do to drop
- 8:29a lot of that stuff? Is it a decision?
- 8:32Is it just a division? Like that isn't an intention?
- 8:36Or is there a technique? Sure.
- 8:40There's an. I would say in my own
- 8:41experience, there were a number of phases to that.
- 8:45So one that I've still shared today is very important.
- 8:49What was pretty clear to me very early on as things started to
- 8:52open up was that actually, although this calling was there,
- 8:59I actually realized from within very early on that I actually
- 9:04didn't really know anything about this subject of self
- 9:07realization, non duality or enlightenment.
- 9:10I knew nothing about it. And there was a knowing that
- 9:15actually embracing that was fundamental.
- 9:19So I might have had until that point some things, but it was
- 9:24pretty clear to actually I really knew nothing about this
- 9:28subject and I was totally willing to be open to a new way
- 9:35of seeing things now. That was what drove the process
- 9:39underneath it, what there were phases within that that came
- 9:44along with things like learning meditation.
- 9:48I explored a number of complementary therapies which
- 9:51were hugely beneficial to me. Open helped open me up, but I
- 9:56also was made clear that I had to drop those even though I was
- 10:00very good at them and it had a beneficial effect on others.
- 10:05So they opened me up, helped me release a lot of emotional
- 10:08baggage, but driving it all was this willingness to embrace that
- 10:13I actually know nothing. And ultimately the dawning
- 10:18realization came that Philip wasn't in charge of this
- 10:23process. It wasn't Philip that was in
- 10:25charge, It was life itself, the infinite awareness, the infinite
- 10:31silence as I call it, or the infinite consciousness that was
- 10:35driving the process. And so the willingness to let go
- 10:39of Philip's idea of how they should manage that was also
- 10:44though, and ultimately, it's not so much, it's not a technique,
- 10:49it's not a a tool, it's not a strategy.
- 10:53It's opening to this awareness that this is what's going to
- 10:58ultimately bring the peace that you're looking for.
- 11:02And that's what eventually was realized, if you like.
- 11:06That is amazing. And I'm reflecting here on a
- 11:10couple of very vital things that you have said in this
- 11:14conversation so far and this self actualization, this the
- 11:20essence of where you are and I don't know, a human being rather
- 11:28than this human doing LED you from the place in the space
- 11:33where you gave up. Two very powerful and critical
- 11:38things that I've only heard about these two, but they seem
- 11:41to be pretty important thing. And that is an engineering
- 11:45lucrative position. And also you mentioned your
- 11:50marriage as well. I wasn't.
- 11:52A marriage. I wasn't a marriage.
- 11:54I was. A long term relationship.
- 11:56I wasn't actually married. Relationship, yeah, my, my
- 12:02apologies for that. But it obviously was
- 12:05significant. Yeah.
- 12:07And it was obviously a, a partnership, but you felt such a
- 12:14strong conviction within yourself.
- 12:18And obviously this is not like we're talking here.
- 12:22So where did the Roman Catholic Church start?
- 12:26And when you began to ask yourself questions such as if
- 12:31this is about 1 faith and the essence of what they were
- 12:36teaching, then what about everybody else?
- 12:39Can you go through that and express what was going on for
- 12:44you, where you kind of had that emotional moment?
- 12:48Yeah, so I was brought up a Catholic and, and so basically I
- 12:53went to Catholic school and one of the things that we were
- 12:57taught was that this was the one true faith.
- 13:00That was back in the 60s in Manchester in England.
- 13:04And it didn't really make any sense to me because I had
- 13:06friends that weren't Catholics. I knew there were lots of people
- 13:09in the world that weren't Catholics.
- 13:11And I thought it didn't make sense that this idea that this
- 13:15one religion could be the one true faith just didn't make any
- 13:19sense even to a young, young boy.
- 13:23And also what accentuated it quite a lot, I would say, is we
- 13:28had hiring Catholic families either side of us and further
- 13:33down the robot terraced houses. And that was the time the
- 13:37Troubles, the euphemistically entitled Troubles in Northern
- 13:41Ireland was really starting to get to their height.
- 13:46And this puzzled me because it was kind of like that was
- 13:49Catholic versus Protestant. And so there and there were
- 13:53Protestant people on our road. And I remember thinking, why are
- 13:57these people fighting and killing each other?
- 13:59What is the problem here? And I remember this thought.
- 14:03I called it a thought experiment at the time, but it's an
- 14:06awareness experiment. But it went like this.
- 14:10If two people were born in a hospital on the same day, same
- 14:15time, same sex, everything, one was born to a Catholic family
- 14:20and one was born to a Protestant family and they accidentally and
- 14:25horrifically got swamped. So the one that was supposed to
- 14:29be brought up Catholic was brought up Protestant and vice
- 14:31versa. Was it possible that in being
- 14:35brought up by a different family and horrific as the case might
- 14:40be for the would be for the families, that they would be
- 14:43conditioned into believing what their environment LED them to
- 14:49believe? If you we're against Catholics,
- 14:51we're against Protestants or whatever.
- 14:53And it seemed to me that this was around 10 or 11, that it was
- 14:57entirely possible. That's what could happen.
- 14:59Oh. Yeah.
- 15:01And by being brought up in that environment and it wasn't
- 15:05definitely going to happen, but it was probable that it could
- 15:09happen. Yeah.
- 15:09Absolutely. Yeah.
- 15:12And and that that led me to reach the view then isn't this
- 15:17what's been happening for years, not just in Northern Ireland,
- 15:22but with the world in generally general, that people have been
- 15:26conditioned into certain ways of being and beliefs.
- 15:31I don't remember sharing that much with anybody, but I
- 15:34remember thinking that this, there's something here.
- 15:36And I remember many years later, just to complete the story, I
- 15:41saw an example of this come to life.
- 15:43And I'll just share this because I think it's important for
- 15:46people and listeners. Basically there were there was a
- 15:50Ro, a Family Guy, a lady from Germany and a guy from Trinidad
- 15:57and Tobago. I think he was of Jewish
- 15:59extraction. They've married, had twin boys.
- 16:04It's Oscar and Store and Jack youth.
- 16:07You can look them up and basically the parents separated
- 16:12within six months of them being born.
- 16:15And this was just as World War too was beginning to break out.
- 16:21Oscar was brought up in to Germany and Jack was brought up
- 16:26in Trinidad and Tobago. So he had a Jewish influence and
- 16:30his Oscar would had a Nazi Germany and Catholic influence.
- 16:35And basically they didn't meet again until after the war.
- 16:39And basically what Oscar said was that we believed everything
- 16:44the Nazis told us and disregarded the rest.
- 16:50And the sad part of that story was they could never completely
- 16:55meet with their beliefs. Later in life.
- 16:57They met on a number of occasions and they couldn't talk
- 17:02about things like religion, who was responsible for the war and
- 17:06so forth. They had what one of the wives,
- 17:09their wives called a love hate relationship.
- 17:13And so this was identical twins, and it was for me, it was the
- 17:18reinforcement of the thought experiment that I'd had as a
- 17:23child. It was like, wow, here it is in
- 17:26a really big way. Wow.
- 17:29So what I'm really hearing here is what's correct.
- 17:34You have been here. It really comes down to the
- 17:39belief system and environmentally that in quite
- 17:47huge. So if for another example, if a
- 17:51child grows up and they had the sliding doors, I've already ever
- 17:56seen that rude. But just to on one case
- 17:59scenario, they were brought up with loving parents and they
- 18:04were encouraged and they were led to believe that they were
- 18:07Walti. Let's just say for example, and
- 18:11they were treated like royalty. They were told they were
- 18:14royalty, they believed they were royalty and they began acting
- 18:17like the law royalty. And then on the other side of
- 18:21the coin, there was the sliding door.
- 18:23The other pathway with I was brought up by very unfortunate
- 18:28circumstances where there was no money, there was no love, there
- 18:32was no guidance and they were put down and there were
- 18:37influenced to obviously be thieves and stealing just to to
- 18:43make their life. It's interesting that their
- 18:47whole identity would be completely different just from
- 18:54what they were led to believe. So can you talk us through,
- 18:58Philip, because I know this is really your area of the
- 19:01conditioning identity and the human experience?
- 19:06Yeah. So basically what I mentioned as
- 19:09the realization dawned in two phases in 2011 and then fully in
- 19:142014, what it became clear, crystal clear at that stage was
- 19:19that essentially what we've been conditioned into is what I call
- 19:23a case of mistaken identity. And that's essentially the
- 19:28belief that all you are is this body mind.
- 19:31I have this body mind experience.
- 19:33It's called Philip Terry there in Australia has that as well.
- 19:40But the realization was that yes, there is this experience
- 19:44and it's very important, but it's like a car.
- 19:48You might have a car, but you're not your car.
- 19:52And what we can crystal clear was that, yeah, this is how life
- 19:57experiences and through this body, mind, but there's
- 20:00something much deeper, much more profound.
- 20:04That is the energy of the universe behind it all, and
- 20:08that's what we are. And so it's the belief that all
- 20:12you are is the body. Mind is actually the one and
- 20:16only one and only block to this realization.
- 20:20Every other belief, every other block that people experience is
- 20:24just. It's a mathematical term.
- 20:27It's a subset. It's a function of 1 mistaken
- 20:31belief. Well, so we are not our culture,
- 20:35we are not our religion, we are not our sexuality, we are not
- 20:41our misgivings and values. We are the essence of what?
- 20:46So we basically the term I that came to me in the realization
- 20:50was is what we are, is infinite silence.
- 20:54That might not mean very much to people, so I'll express it a few
- 20:57other ways. Infinite awareness, that's not
- 21:01personal or infinite consciousness or source.
- 21:07We are one with that and yet we're expressed in infinite
- 21:12variety. So there's Phillip here in
- 21:14England, there's Terry there in Australia, and it doesn't mean
- 21:18that we're not diminishing that experience of being Terry or
- 21:23being Philip or being somebody in the USA or whatever.
- 21:27No, actually life wants to experience itself through your
- 21:31form. But it's deep invitation is to
- 21:36say, actually, although you have this experience of being Terry,
- 21:42what you're really here is to realize that which you truly
- 21:47are, and that is life's greatest gift unto itself.
- 21:51And that's the message that I share with the.
- 21:54World how liberating that is right there guys as we continue
- 22:00on in the show are you going to get to experience the essence of
- 22:04what Philip is really speaking about You will be able to find
- 22:09his details in the show notes so you can make contact.
- 22:13One of the things I was going to say is that there are so many
- 22:18people in the world I reckon the world's gone crazy actually
- 22:24former and they're in locked into these behaviours and all of
- 22:31these elements and So what you're speaking about is
- 22:36actually very liberal. So how do you, I shouldn't say
- 22:40how is not a great question, but what do you do to bring that
- 22:46person who's perhaps stuck in a trauma bond and they're they're
- 22:52all about the experience of what they've remembered, what their
- 22:57body has remembered and as a result what they believe.
- 23:01And this is causing shocking behaviours.
- 23:05Can you talk us through what you know a person can expect when
- 23:10they come into your presence around?
- 23:13Sure. I think the first thing to say
- 23:15there is that everybody is called to this, no matter what,
- 23:18no matter who you are. However, there's a kind of
- 23:23ripeness that needs to be there for you to open to this.
- 23:27And if different people are at different points on this journey
- 23:33from being deeply lost in trauma and suffering and this profound
- 23:40compassion for when somebody's in that situation through to
- 23:44things are starting to change and open up for me.
- 23:48So typically people will find what I share when this they get
- 23:53to a point, they're going, there must be more to life than this.
- 23:58And at that point, that's the point where for where I can help
- 24:03them guide them and say, look, there's something much deeper
- 24:07here. And the key to that is what I
- 24:10call recognizing the unchanging awareness or the infinite
- 24:15silence. And I can give them simple
- 24:17exercises of meditation stuff to help them to start to see the
- 24:23truth of that. Because it's not about believing
- 24:26what Philip says, not the fault, not in the slight, nothing to do
- 24:29with that. It's about making this
- 24:32experientially realizable for them.
- 24:37That first step is recognizing awareness.
- 24:40The other side of the coins of that.
- 24:42I sometimes put this on what's called a year Yang diagram.
- 24:45You've probably heard those words.
- 24:47So that's like the kind of one part of the diagram is
- 24:51recognizing that. The other part is a question
- 24:56exploring the question Who am I? And I asked all the questions as
- 25:02part of that Who am I without belief or before belief?
- 25:06Or who am I without knowledge or who am I without memory?
- 25:13These questions are very powerful and I tend to ask them
- 25:18in a meditative space. And when people first do them,
- 25:23they so they tend to identify with the body still.
- 25:26But as they open more and go deeper into it with practice,
- 25:32they start to get words like space, silence, stillness,
- 25:37awareness, presence. And these are indicators to the
- 25:43direct indicators to them that there's much more here.
- 25:48The other thing that could happen, and I've seen this a
- 25:50lot, it does happen whether it's online or in person, when
- 25:53somebody's really right and really wet ready, they can have
- 25:58massive spontaneous releases of trauma.
- 26:03And that's happened on many occasions.
- 26:06And it's, it can be quite scary to the untrained eye.
- 26:10But what it is, is a natural opening taking place of this
- 26:16held in, locked in energy being released from the body.
- 26:20So yeah, it can be quite profound.
- 26:23True, those questions that are so held what Philippines really
- 26:29describing in his essence of the art of stillness and asking
- 26:37those questions. So when I'm thinking about what
- 26:40if I forgot that, if a person's got a fear about, say, public
- 26:44speaking, what if you forgot that you ever had that fear?
- 26:48When, how would you be? So I do love the fact that
- 26:54you've proposed those questions to us and the aspect of finding
- 27:02that quietness and that presence and that awareness that seems
- 27:08effortless. But I can feel like all
- 27:09Physiology has changed since having this conversation with
- 27:14you. So it's powerful.
- 27:17And this is a blessing for people that are listening into
- 27:20the show. Through meditation, you
- 27:23obviously began to realize something quite extraordinary.
- 27:28And really it was where you've self actualized everything
- 27:35that's happened. It was observing the body and
- 27:39observing thoughts in the mind and just being with them.
- 27:44And I guess we're going to have got little experience very soon.
- 27:48So in the next few minutes, like stand by everyone.
- 27:51So what do you believe about the parts that we pick up through
- 28:00life, like the parts of anxiety and the parts of even depression
- 28:06or the parts of those valid habits?
- 28:10Do you feel that those can be completely dropped and released
- 28:17through the kind of essence of what you're teaching?
- 28:20The short answer to that is yes, they can.
- 28:23With that, unequivocally yes, that's entirely possible and
- 28:27that's why you're here. Depending upon where you are in
- 28:31that journey, it may be that you will need some other support
- 28:35beyond meditation. There are many great
- 28:38complementary therapies that could bring you to a more stable
- 28:43position such that you are ready to open to awareness.
- 28:47So if you're receiving support, medical guidance and so forth
- 28:50for that, then that's important for you to continue with that.
- 28:55But that that. But generally speaking, once
- 28:57you're in a more stable position, ultimately it's only
- 29:04going to be through the power of awareness, stillness, silence,
- 29:08that the ultimate transformation will take place.
- 29:11The others, not bad or wrong. In fact, they're very effective
- 29:15from direct experience, if there's ones that are resonant
- 29:20for you, but they're like what I call spiritual stepping stones.
- 29:25So you might use a particular technique or tool.
- 29:29For instance, what I looked at was something called emotional
- 29:31freedom techniques. Very effective, very powerful.
- 29:36But what was also made clear to me, there came a point where I
- 29:39needed to leave that behind. Now what I'm sharing here is a
- 29:43belief that I have about this. It's unknowing this, this
- 29:48awareness. It's.
- 29:51Unknowing. It becomes a crystal clear that
- 29:55it's infinite and it's infinitely powerful and it is
- 29:58which we are. And I think to change the word
- 30:01silence and awareness, and sometimes I'll say silence is
- 30:06the universal solvent. It can dissolve everything that
- 30:10you are not. But that will come when you're
- 30:15open and ready, ready for that, you know?
- 30:19My goodness, this is just goal. This is absolute goal.
- 30:24I want to. I just want to really before we
- 30:27begin the practice that you're going to take us through what
- 30:31you talked me through. We talked about the mistaken
- 30:35identification that you said something else to me backstage
- 30:40which alluded to this identification.
- 30:46Would you express that and obviously identity phrase a
- 30:52quite a huge role, Yes, right. So can you talk us through that?
- 30:57Yeah. So the belief that you, all you
- 30:59are is the body, mind will manifest in many different
- 31:02opportunities that will vary by place, birth, where you are, the
- 31:08conditions that you have brought up in and so forth.
- 31:12And from the university's perspective, none of those are
- 31:14wrong. They're not bad or wrong, but
- 31:17what they will lead to is suffering.
- 31:19And you don't need to believe me on that.
- 31:21That's what they will lead to because there are limitation
- 31:25upon that which you truly are. So self realization, self
- 31:30actualization, enlightenment, whatever you want to call it,
- 31:33non duality is the willingness to be.
- 31:39Actually, you're so much more than that.
- 31:44And as that willingness opens you up from the inside, what
- 31:48will happen is those beliefs that you've had will dissolve.
- 31:54And that may be in profound energetic experiences.
- 31:57Quite often that will be the case and that can involve
- 32:00emotional, massive emotional release.
- 32:04This might sound scary but it's not.
- 32:06It's been driven by awareness. It might involve shaking of the
- 32:10body. There are many processes that
- 32:13can happen here that essentially it's a bit like being jet
- 32:18washed. I sometimes call it from the
- 32:20inside. All the grime that you're being
- 32:22carrying and emotionally, energetically will be released
- 32:27and dissolved. And the more willing you are to
- 32:31face that, feel that, and trust the silence, the easier that
- 32:38journey is. Essentially, it will dissolve it
- 32:42all. It will dissolve it all.
- 32:45I feel like I'm experiencing a mini retreat right here.
- 32:50This is just so much of that essence and we're going to hand
- 32:55over to allowing you to anchor us into the now in any way you
- 33:02feel that I guess you are LED intuitively and the person
- 33:08that's praying for you may be out there in a timeless space.
- 33:14Who knows whether it's in five days, five hours or five years.
- 33:18But I'd love for you to to just really embrace whatever that
- 33:24essence is that you would like to anchor in with us, whether
- 33:29through breath, sensation, sound, stillness, all of the
- 33:33above. Can I hand over to you for that
- 33:36now? Sure.
- 33:38So what I'd like to do is a little exercise with you that
- 33:41it's a very simple little exercise this and at one point
- 33:44I'm going to be ringing a singing bowl with this striker
- 33:49I've got here. But it's essentially it's a
- 33:53meditation. It can be short and sweet, but
- 33:56what it is about recognizing, being open to recognizing this
- 34:01awareness that I'm talking about and this awareness is not
- 34:05personal, is not personal. This is very important.
- 34:10So the way to to do this is just if you can do this, Terry, now
- 34:13if you want, any listeners can do this.
- 34:16They're not listening to it live.
- 34:20Just simply close your eyes. Now just simply close your eyes.
- 34:26And as you do that, just be open and accepting totally whatever's
- 34:38here now. So there may be emotions,
- 34:48feelings, sensations, thoughts. Just let all of those be there
- 35:08without any judgement, totally accepting the fact that they're
- 35:18just simply here now. And it's a bit like you're
- 35:29watching a movie from the inside.
- 35:35All these phenomena are just happening, and you're the
- 35:44watcher, the neutral watcher of them.
- 35:55No judgement. They're just here and there's a
- 36:04presence watching. Now let me give you an example
- 36:11of this in a moment. I'm going to tap the singing
- 36:17bowl. You'll hear a loud metallic
- 36:20shrill sound. Just watch that and just notice
- 36:27what happens. Just be aware of it
- 36:49and what happened. There was a brief, silent pause.
- 36:53I tapped the singing bowl gently.
- 36:58It reached a crescendo of sound. And then without any further
- 37:05input, it faded to silence. And this presence, I'm talking
- 37:13about, this awareness, noticed that and just it just happened.
- 37:24The sound reached their peak and faded to silence.
- 37:29Now let's say that was an emotion in your body.
- 37:34The sound of the singing bowl was an emotion.
- 37:39An emotion is here, it's just watched.
- 37:44And an emotion is energy in motion.
- 37:48It's a vibration. That's all it is.
- 37:55And we're just going to allow ourselves to watch that emotion,
- 38:01feel that emotion without any judgement about what it is, what
- 38:09type of emotion it might be. It's just being watched and what
- 38:19will happen naturally and effortlessly without any effort
- 38:24on your part. Just like the singing bowl, if
- 38:31you just watched silently, effortlessly, without any
- 38:37judgement over time, it may be a very quickly, or it may be a few
- 38:45minutes, or it could be longer period than that.
- 38:50It would just fade to silence because emotion is vibration and
- 38:56it will always return to silence and the awareness just notice
- 39:05that process taking place. Just like the singing bowl
- 39:09reaching A crescendo and fading awareness.
- 39:15Silence is just observing this neutrally, effortlessly.
- 39:26And the same is true of all phenomena, by the way.
- 39:34And if we begin to open to this awareness, he's just here
- 39:38watching silently, neutrally, non judge mentally.
- 39:51We can then go to the next step and ask the question inside.
- 40:00Is that awareness affected in any way by the emotion, the
- 40:12feeling, the sensation, the sound of the singing bowl?
- 40:20And even if you can't see that right now, eventually you will
- 40:26realise that no, it's not affected.
- 40:30It just watches. It's just aware, simply,
- 40:39silently, effortlessly aware. And this, my friends, is the
- 40:51essence of meditation. Wow, that was absolutely
- 41:04sensational. And I believe that we can all
- 41:12now be aware that we feel differently to when we first
- 41:18began listening to this. And that's exactly what this is
- 41:22all about. And I am so incredibly grateful
- 41:26from the bottom of my heart that you have given me this
- 41:30experience and the many thousands of people that it's
- 41:33going to reach. And yes, and I just thank you,
- 41:37Philip. And I do say, as I'd love to
- 41:40always ask this question at the end of every show, is there
- 41:44anything that you would want to either reiterate or speak on
- 41:51before we Claude? Is there anything that you feel
- 41:55that needs to be said? I would say that just be open to
- 42:05this. Follow your heart is calling you
- 42:09home right now, right here, right now.
- 42:15I'm in this moment. And if this has spoken to you in
- 42:20any way, shape or form, or you can just sense there's something
- 42:26here that I haven't quite grasped yet, listen to what your
- 42:31heart has to say about it. Not your mind, not your head,
- 42:35but your heart. Because the heart will lead you
- 42:40home. Because the heart never lies.
- 42:45Never lies. Yeah, the head will make you
- 42:52doubt it, question it. But the heart will feel
- 42:57uplifting, inspired, expansive, often surprising.
- 43:05This energy from the heart you control the doubter of the mind.
- 43:09You cannot. It has nothing youth to say
- 43:12about this. But the heart guide, yeah,
- 43:17that's what I would say. Follow your heart.
- 43:20That is so amazing. Phillip Wade, thank you so very
- 43:24much for your time and the essence of what you've just
