- 0:00It's the worldwide sports radio network.
- 0:05The National League defeated the American League in this year's
- 0:08All Star game seven to six in a first of its kind swing off
- 0:12tiebreaker after the game was tied at the end of the ninth.
- 0:15Kyle Schwarber was named MVP after hitting a home run and all
- 0:18three of his swings in the swinging off, propelling the NL
- 0:21to the West. The Jets made Sauce Gardner the
- 0:25highest paid cornerback in football only days after
- 0:29extending wide receiver Garrett Wilson on a large contract as
- 0:32well. Is The Jets foundation now
- 0:34locked in or are the two star players more fool's gold for the
- 0:38all floundering franchise as they look to rally under new
- 0:42coach Aaron Glenn? And before we whip around the
- 0:45NFL, we will make a call to the pen and dive inside baseball on
- 0:49another live, jam packed Wednesday night edition of Jabba
- 0:54and the Math and. That's are going to give him a
- 0:56significant They're going to have a ton of money to spend.
- 0:59Why not put it in one of the top three offensive players in the
- 1:02league? We're going to be looking at
- 1:11Aaron Judge and saying that he can't win the big game, Michael
- 1:15Jordan said. I played 82 games.
- 1:18You don't see the fun doing that A.
- 1:20Game where you got to go? Before I told you giant things,
- 1:24Saquon Barkley, at this point, say
- 2:34Welcome, welcome, welcome. It is jam packed.
- 2:39Thank God I'm not packing any heat.
- 2:41Speedy definitely isn't packing any heat.

- 3:31And ladies and gentlemen, I've been saying this over and over
- 3:34and over again. I know we haven't had a lot of
- 3:36callers, and thank God we haven't because it takes up a
- 3:39lot of of time. But if you want to call the
- 3:41show, you can call us at 631-672-3108.
- 3:47Yes. And if you want to call Speedy,
- 3:49I'll give you his number too. And there's somebody else on the
- 3:52hotline if you really want to call.
- 3:54But if you want to call Ghostbusters or anybody else,
- 3:57stay away from that part of the house.
- 3:59Anyways, it's been a crazy, warm, muggy, disgusting day here
- 4:05in Long Island, New York. It was raining earlier this
- 4:08morning. Now it's sunny.
- 4:10It's it's, you know, what I hate about Long Island is the
- 4:13weather. It, it, it just, it transitions
- 4:16so fast. And it's not like I'm at the
- 4:17beach. I'm not hanging out in the sand
- 4:20or swimming with the sharks. What I'm dealing with is driving
- 4:23on the road with these complete morons.
- 4:26And what I'd have to deal with is if I don't have my air
- 4:29conditioning on and I just roll down my windows, I got to deal
- 4:33with something like if I was in a sauna or I was in a steam room
- 4:38because it, it's just, it's horrible.
- 4:41I, I, I hate living here. I will never move to Florida.
- 4:44It has to be dry. If I move to a hot place,
- 4:47Arizona would be my number one spot if it's hot, not Texas
- 4:51either because it's too hot over there.
- 4:53And I'll. Burn ours.
- 4:54Ours is construction. Well, I I mean Nebraska.
- 4:58Is awful. Oh, the construction over here
- 5:00is horrible. I will say this about Long
- 5:03Island. There are three roads you do not
- 5:06want to be on when it comes to construction, and one of them is
- 5:09this one right over here. And I and I, I'll say it more
- 5:14than ever, everybody keeps talking about the L i.e. and how
- 5:17bad the L i.e. is. The L i.e.
- 5:19Is bad when you're going up, you know you're going from Montauk
- 5:22or Riverhead to to the city. It is bad especially certain
- 5:26times you don't want to go in rush hour.
- 5:28Rush hour in New York starts really from 2:30 to 7:00.
- 5:34So if you're planning to come out to Long Island from the city
- 5:37from 2:30, good luck. You're not getting to your
- 5:40you're not getting to your house until probably around 6630.
- 5:44You would have to leave your job at 2:00 just to beat the rush
- 5:48hour. Now, if you're going to the
- 5:49city, good luck. It's even worse going from Long
- 5:53Island to the city. I would say if you don't leave
- 5:56by 1:30 to the city, you won't be in the city till about 6-7
- 6:01o'clock. And that's being that's being
- 6:04lucky if, if, if you have any luck whatsoever.
- 6:07But nevertheless, I hate Long Island because not the food's
- 6:11great here. The people are interesting.
- 6:13As a matter of fact, the people are asses.
- 6:15I'm going to be honest with you, people here are complete morons.
- 6:20They don't know how to speak to you.
- 6:21You can go to a food market. You could be waiting online.
- 6:24I thought I was doing today, I was getting my tuna fish.
- 6:26I was getting my bagel chips because I kind of stay away from
- 6:29the and, and, and I was also getting my watermelon.
- 6:34I got to get this bowl that I just eat by myself and I have to
- 6:37have my sugar. And I'm sitting, I'm standing on
- 6:41line. I'm waiting for this whole day.
- 6:42This lady took about 10 minutes to pull out her wallet and pay
- 6:48for her $10 meal. OK, it was which chicken she was
- 6:52getting her what, what I don't know what rotisserie chicken
- 6:57and, and something else she was getting with it.
- 6:59And I think she was like buying blue cheese.
- 7:01She told she was telling a lady out that she dips her chicken in
- 7:04blue cheese. I, I mean, I, I mean, I know
- 7:08that's what wings are and that's what people do, not rotisserie
- 7:10chicken, but that does, that doesn't make any sense.
- 7:14It was very disgusting, but I it took her 10 and it's just to
- 7:17pull out her wallet and by the time I got out of the food
- 7:20market, it took me about 30 minutes.
- 7:21So and she was rude and nasty and then she was should.
- 7:24Have got her. Should have got her some honey
- 7:25mustard. Well, I'll tell you this, Honey
- 7:28mustard is very popular out here, especially if you like
- 7:31your fries. And I do like my fries.
- 7:33And there are honey mustards in certain restaurants that are
- 7:37better than others. And if you go to Miller's,
- 7:39Miller's is it's sensational. They make it by hand.
- 7:42It is delicious. It's, it's very sweet.
- 7:45Anything I taste like mustard, I, I want to hurl.
- 7:48I do not like mustard, everybody.
- 7:49'S like the like brown, like brown, like any mustard or
- 7:53yellow mustard. Any mustard, if it's not honey
- 7:55mustard, you will not see me go out and.
- 7:57Buy my dad, like my dad was, obviously we didn't grow up
- 8:02bougie by any means, but it was usually around payday time.
- 8:06I knew dad either got a bonus or something because he would he
- 8:09would get sausages with grey Poupon.
- 8:12It was like the only time we got it and it's like nostalgic for
- 8:15me. Oh I like that, but like I'm not
- 8:17like a huge mustard guy unless it's honey mustard as well.
- 8:20The Grey Poupon was famous from Wayne's World.
- 8:24That movie? Really.
- 8:25And the commercial, you got it. And the commercial, you got to
- 8:28give the commercial some credit. 100% and that's how Wayne's
- 8:30World actually actually got it. Is is Garth and him or do you
- 8:34have any grey Poupon, You know, with the old man sitting in a
- 8:37limousine, you know, because it's a rich like whatever they
- 8:41call it, some sauce. I've never had grey Poupon, so
- 8:45it's not something. I'll tell you this horseradish
- 8:47is pretty good with certain things.
- 8:49Has anybody? I just, I can't get on board
- 8:51with horseradish. You like it, Tom?
- 8:53By the way, I want to introduce a very special guest in the
- 8:56studio. You can wave into the thing.
- 8:57All right, there you go. Tom is a fan of the show.
- 9:01His uncle is a very good friend of mine.
- 9:04And he's always wanted to come on the show, sit here, sit in
- 9:07with the live show and just hang out with the boys.
- 9:10And he reached out to me last week and he said, can I come?
- 9:14Can I come and hang out? And I said, absolutely, come
- 9:16into the studio. You know, as long as you're not
- 9:18hanging or, you know, shooting the shit with Jabba, because
- 9:21Jabba will probably scare you the hell away, you could come
- 9:24and hang out with us and and just chill.
- 9:26So he's he's sitting in today and you could talk into the mic.
- 9:30Tom, we really appreciate you joining us.
- 9:31And I know you're a big Yankee fan.
- 9:33Jabba was a former Yankee and a guy that very well respected is
- 9:39most known for his playoff game against the Cleveland Guardians
- 9:44as he had those, I guess fleas or or itches, midges, midges,
- 9:49they're fleas in my eyes. They were flying around and
- 9:52itching. He was itching and smacking them
- 9:53around. But that's where Jabba was most
- 9:55known and and Joe Torre speaks about it in his book.
- 9:58That was probably the worst thing he's ever.
- 9:59Done well, that was that was after it started with the Jabba
- 10:02rules. Let's like so let's go
- 10:03chronological order. Here, well, I'm sorry, Jabba
- 10:06rules is I mean, the shirts were the most popular ones.
- 10:08I I don't have a shirt. I did sign with Modell's, so I I
- 10:12actually did make some money, but yeah, I was like, man, I
- 10:15never. And I actually, it's funny.
- 10:18We, we were just talking about that one time in like shirts and
- 10:21all this other stuff. I somehow came across this guy
- 10:25on X huge fan. He goes, I wanted to get you
- 10:27this shirt that we made when we were in college, but we were so
- 10:30scared to like come and try to give it to you.
- 10:32And I was like, you should have, it would have been sweet.
- 10:34And it was like, obviously vulgarity's on it.
- 10:37So I definitely would have worn it at the time.
- 10:39So I was like, you should have done it.
- 10:41He goes, we still might do it. I go, I'll wear it.
- 10:43You're one with the the words tonight.
- 10:45I mean, you've been using some big words.
- 10:47Vulgarity. I mean, that's a word.
- 10:49I mean shot in the dark. I'm sorry.
- 10:51Impressive vocabulary. Well, you know, Jabba is
- 10:53impressive in so many ways than one.
- 10:55We just don't want to see the impressive things he does off
- 10:58air because it could probably scare you.
- 11:01It scares the shit out of me, but nevertheless.
- 11:03Speaking of shirts though, you know many times people like why
- 11:05are you wearing a Knick shirt? It's not wearing, it's not it's
- 11:09definitely not Knick shirt. I can definitely read it and if.
- 11:11You. No, it's just the color scheme.
- 11:13Yeah, I mean, they copycat it, and if the Knicks want to sue
- 11:15them, they're more than welcome. To do that job another.
- 11:17Hey, hold on. That's my company, stupid.
- 11:19Shut up. I'm sorry.
- 11:20Then I guess they're going to sue you.
- 11:22My wrist. Jabba, the real question is do
- 11:25you have the Do you have the Heddesy special for Jr.
- 11:28Smith if he arrives? Yeah, 100% we do.
- 11:32But it's they, they like to send me stuff and rub it in because
- 11:35they're Mets fans. So they'll send me like Mets
- 11:39colors for things. And I'm like, I love you guys.
- 11:41And it's our company. We've owned it for a while.
- 11:43But I go if you keep sending me Mets colors, I'm going to punch
- 11:46you guys. And then we just did like an
- 11:51NWANWO wrestling one. That's actually pretty cool.
- 11:55He tastes himself. Yeah.
- 11:56I think you've worn that one on the show I remember.
- 11:58That one, yeah. Yep, if I can eat your job, I'll
- 12:00eat you right now. I mean, I need I need some real
- 12:03food. I I taste good.
- 12:04I I I had a really, really good. I got to ask Catherine if you
- 12:08taste good. OK, I got to.
- 12:09Ask it was you know what made made made some Taco salads?
- 12:14It was fantastic. Anyway, so are you?
- 12:16Are you a? Nacho or a Taco salad?
- 12:18Would you rather do nachos or a Taco?
- 12:20Salad I'm a Nacho guy, but I like Taco salad.
- 12:23I like Taco salad and that's not bad.
- 12:25I, I, if you go to Wendy's, they make a pretty good a Taco salad,
- 12:29believe it or not. I at night time, if you're
- 12:31looking for something to eat and you want to eat a little bit
- 12:33healthy, you go get their Taco salad.
- 12:35It's pretty damn good. It really is.
- 12:36I like their beans, especially when I'm in the bathroom.
- 12:39Nachos though, you can't get cheese sauce.
- 12:41You got to get regular cheese so your chips don't get soggy.
- 12:44Jabba is the chef of the show, so I who's the better?
- 12:47Who's the best cook on this show?
- 12:49It's got to be fish. It's got to be fish.
- 12:51It's either fish are good fish, fish.
- 12:54No, I've been a single dad my whole life.
- 12:57Like get out of here. We're.
- 12:58Going to have to figure this one out.
- 12:59We're going to have to have a competition to cook.
- 13:01Off yeah, we should like we should do like 1 is like we make
- 13:04our favorite chili. One does steaks, one does
- 13:07burgers. That would be fun, yeah.
- 13:08Let's do it. I, I'm not much of A cook.
- 13:10There's certain things I'm good at cooking.
- 13:12I have my meatballs, my Swedish meatballs.
- 13:14I have a recipe. It's delicious.
- 13:16Anybody that's had it and I, I know I can hit it out of the
- 13:19ballpark. I probably.
- 13:21Make I do that's that is one that is 1 food that I honestly
- 13:25like. Obviously I had the delis and
- 13:27the bodegas and all the other stuff, but a true Italian
- 13:30meatball. Like either just by itself or I
- 13:34missed that so bad. Well, then I can make you some
- 13:37meatballs or you can have some speedies.
- 13:38Anyways, at 8:45 we're going to be talking to a 12 year NFL vet.
- 13:45He's a safety, He's an all pro safety.
- 13:47He's been in the NFL for a fairly long time.
- 13:50He's played for the Eagles, Browns and Bills and Dolphins,
- 13:54and it's the first time on Jop in the Mouth.
- 13:55We're very excited to have him on.
- 13:57Jordan Poyer will be joining us. Thank you to Nathan.
- 14:01Nathan's rocking and, you know, wearing that blue blazer today.
- 14:05He's chefing away all over New Jersey.
- 14:08So we love Nathan. He's driving right now.
- 14:10He's in backstage and we'll get Nathan on a little bit later in
- 14:13the show. Hopefully he's not playing with
- 14:14himself or daggering. Him.
- 14:15So Nathan just likes his chicken Curry.
- 14:16Well, I like that chicken Curry too, you know, Speaking of
- 14:19chicken Curry, which I'm trying to find the job, but I'm a
- 14:22little lost today. I I don't even want to look for
- 14:24it. I I got to get into the show
- 14:25here. Let's get into it.
- 14:27The National League won an All Star games won the All Star game
- 14:3176 in the first ever All Star game swing off basically a Home
- 14:36Run Derby in extra innings. The National League had a six O
- 14:40lead after six innings, but the American League tied it in it
- 14:45with four runs in the seventh inning and two runs in the ninth
- 14:49inning. This led to the first All Star
- 14:51game, a swing off where the National in the league 1/4 to
- 14:54three, led by three home runs by Kyle Schwarber.
- 14:58Many fans took shots at both teams for not putting the
- 15:02biggest stars like Aaron Judge and Shay Ohtani in the swing
- 15:06off, but reports say many of those top players had already
- 15:11left the stadium. Jeff Passan also had a tweet
- 15:16complaining about this, not even realizing some of those top
- 15:20players left and Brett Rooker, Brent Rooker took shots at
- 15:26Passan saying I'm not good enough for you.
- 15:28That's what he's saying. Aaron Boone also took a lot of
- 15:32backlash for not using Judge or Cal Rally, but he said that was
- 15:38never part of the plans if they needed a swing off at the end of
- 15:45the game. First of all, nobody ever
- 15:47thought it was going to be a swing off.
- 15:48The National League was absolutely dominating the
- 15:50American League throughout the game.
- 15:53And the American League, look, I don't know what the American
- 15:56League was doing. I think they were eating Turkey
- 15:58and they were getting ready for Thanksgiving because they were
- 16:01definitely not ready to play the game.
- 16:03It looked like the National League had every thought of
- 16:05winning that game in the American League just had no
- 16:08thought. But I didn't even get a chance
- 16:10to watch the full game because I wasn't even really interested.
- 16:14But what I was interested throughout the second-half of
- 16:18the game is how the National League, and I'll say this, how
- 16:23the National League didn't just completely shut out the American
- 16:26League. The American League did not use
- 16:28any of their top stars. They really did it.
- 16:31Aaron Judge barely played it to me.
- 16:35When you when you talk about going to an All Star game, you
- 16:37want to see the stars, right? You want to see the biggest
- 16:39stars in all the professional baseball.
- 16:41Aaron Judge is the biggest star in baseball.
- 16:44You can argue him and Shay Otani are the faces of Major League
- 16:49Baseball and you didn't really get a chance to see those guys.
- 16:52Kyle Schwarber, who had a sensational game, obviously
- 16:56winning the MVP and he he got the bats and he got.
- 17:00The He had a sensational moment. He didn't have a sensational
- 17:02game. Well, the moment is the
- 17:05sensational part of the game. Moments take over games, right?
- 17:08All you have to do is take over one part of the game, and it's a
- 17:11sensational, the sensational part of the game.
- 17:14The fact is, is when you talk about All Star Games there,
- 17:18there's nothing sensational about it.
- 17:20And being that right now there's no football, there's no hockey,
- 17:24there's no basketball, there's no nothing tennis and Wimbledon
- 17:28is over, there's nothing to talk about.
- 17:31So what is everybody watching? If you're a sports fan, you're
- 17:34tuning into either watching the All Star Game or watching the
- 17:37WNBA. And no, you got a major
- 17:41tournament in golf coming up, starting at 12:45 tonight.
- 17:44Yeah, coming up, but it wasn't going on every single betting
- 17:48man. And I'll say this, if you're a
- 17:50betting sports, you know, gambler, you're going out there,
- 17:54you're trying to find something to bet on and it's nothing to
- 17:56bet on unless you're betting on the CFL, which as you hear Carl
- 18:00say it over and over and over again, nobody gives a crap about
- 18:03the CFL. Or you could go and watch high
- 18:06school volleyball like Nathan as he hosts it for the NR hour or
- 18:11NR minute or media as he goes out there and he's trying to
- 18:14promote women's high school volleyball.
- 18:18The fact is, that's why the ESPN put on MLB's, I'm sorry, MLB's.
- 18:26No, no, no. It wasn't the home run.
- 18:27What was it over the weekend? It was the draft.
- 18:30The the MLB be quiet over there. The MLB draft.
- 18:34Nobody cares about the MLB draft really.
- 18:36The big drafts to watch is the NFL and the NBA.
- 18:39Those were the, those are the drafts that everybody looks to.
- 18:42Even the NHL draft is not really popular.
- 18:44But over the years it's, it's been more, more interesting to
- 18:48watch to see what the New York teams are going to do and, and
- 18:51the metropolitan teams are going to do.
- 18:53But right now, this is the worst time for sports.
- 18:56So everybody was tuned in to watch baseball, at least most
- 19:00people were. I wasn't because I could care
- 19:02less who won that game. There was nothing in the game
- 19:05that really was going to draw me to it.
- 19:08If if it had some implications to whoever wins the game is
- 19:12going to have home field advantage for the American
- 19:14League or National League, then I would have an interesting
- 19:17thought to watch that game. Nothing in the game and people
- 19:20were texting me. Oh, did you see the polar bear?
- 19:23Did you see that rocket that he hit?
- 19:24I could care less. I to me it, it it's just show
- 19:28for the fans. That's what it was.
- 19:30So when everybody was crying who was going to play in the game,
- 19:33when we were talking about Miss Orowski and why Miss Orowski
- 19:36made it over Suarez or Sanchez, nobody gave a crap about the All
- 19:42Star game. I don't think Suarez or Sanchez
- 19:45would have cared who was going to win the MVP or who was
- 19:48starting or finishing the game. All they care about is getting
- 19:52into the playoffs and going into the show, getting into the the
- 19:56World Series and trying to win a championship.
- 19:58If they get there, they're going to win there.
- 20:00They're going to get their money and they're going to have a
- 20:01chance to get that one. Beautiful.
- 20:04Or as Jabba would show you, 2 beautiful rings.
- 20:07The fact is, everybody's trying to find something to complain
- 20:11about. Media is trying to create
- 20:12something. A stir.
- 20:15You got to remember too. You said it though, It's like it
- 20:18You try to stir up stuff right now just because there's not
- 20:22else, there's nothing else going on.
- 20:24So it's like there's nothing. Trying it's.
- 20:26It is what it is. I just there's some things I
- 20:29would change and I think there's a lot of things like I wish they
- 20:33would go back and and speedy, I know you're like a
- 20:36traditionalist when it comes to like old school stuff.
- 20:38I wish they'd go back to the 10 outs because I want to see the
- 20:41homers and I want to see how far they go.
- 20:45I don't want it feels like it's just all straight when they're
- 20:47doing like Home Run Derby and all the other stuff.
- 20:49And that's what I didn't get too.
- 20:51What? So if you're going to have a
- 20:53swing off in the game, why? Why didn't we have a swing off
- 20:56in the Home Run Derby when you wanted to dictate it by less
- 20:59than an inch and let a computer algorithm figure it out, Give
- 21:03them the same thing that they would have that they did in the
- 21:06swing off. Like what are we doing here?
- 21:08I don't even. Maybe they should have just had
- 21:10a whole game of a swing off, that would have been more
- 21:12interesting. I would watch that still, yes, I
- 21:15would rather. Watch a whole game of a swing
- 21:17off. Just see a. 100%.
- 21:19You know, from 1:00 to 9:00, see who hits more home runs or that
- 21:22that makes more sense of something that draw the fans to
- 21:26go out there and pay for the tickets.
- 21:28Just think about it. You're going out there every
- 21:31single year and watching garbage baseball.
- 21:34That's what it is. It's garbage baseball.
- 21:36Just like the NBA when teams are scoring 200 points, the West and
- 21:40the East or the national team against the United States team,
- 21:44it's it's boring. It's not fun anymore.
- 21:48They're not playing defense. Nobody gives a crap.
- 21:50They're laughing, they're giggling.
- 21:51There's nothing. There's nothing about the All
- 21:54Star game and Jeff Passan going out there and complaining.
- 21:57Jeff, stop, stop. I know you're trying to sell
- 22:01what you're going to write every single, every single hour, every
- 22:03single minute. Nobody cares what you think
- 22:06about this game because there's nothing important about the
- 22:08game. The fact is I would have liked
- 22:10to see Mizarowski throw 106 or if Aroldis Chapman actually.
- 22:15Did you see the interview with Mizarowski and Ken Rosenthal?
- 22:19Wholly awkward, totally awkward. Like it's not, it wasn't his
- 22:25choice. It's not like he called up and
- 22:27then everybody's like, well, he should have really just been
- 22:30like, no, I'm not going to accept this blah, blah, blah.
- 22:33It wasn't like he was, he was telling everybody that he would
- 22:36like they put him on. You're going to tell a kid that
- 22:41you're going to make a decision to be like, hey, no, I don't
- 22:44deserve it. I've only made 5 starts in the
- 22:46bit like and they brought up stats of all kinds of things
- 22:49like oh, Craig Kimball's done. He's like 7 but never started a
- 22:52game and blah blah. I'm like, what are we like?
- 22:55What, what are we really doing? Like it's you want to see the
- 22:59studs like and not to say that Ranger stories and those guys
- 23:03aren't sexy, but they don't throw 103.
- 23:06No, like that's what you want to see.
- 23:07You're right, Jabba, you're right.
- 23:08Mesorowski had nothing, nothing to say because there's no reason
- 23:12for the kid to speak. He.
- 23:13Handled it great though, he really did.
- 23:15First of all, Mesorowski is going to be one of the phenoms
- 23:18we're going to watch for the next 5 to 10 years.
- 23:20As long as he stays healthy. This guy throws heat and I don't
- 23:24care what anybody says. That's what you want to see.
- 23:26You want to got you. When Chapman came into the
- 23:28league, when rolled this Chapman came in the league, came in the
- 23:30league and everybody was talking about this kid.
- 23:31They didn't care that he threw a change up.
- 23:33Nobody cared that he threw like a cut gas ball.
- 23:36All they wanted to see was the heat.
- 23:39That's all they wanted to see that he can hit 100 practically
- 23:42every single time he threw the ball.
- 23:44And at some points he was hitting 101 and 102.
- 23:47This guy's throwing 103. And some people said, I want,
- 23:50you know, during practices, he's throwing 105.
- 23:53That's what I want to see. I want to see the young phenoms
- 23:57just Chuck, you know, try to hit points and that's what you want
- 24:01to see. And it's like this.
- 24:03Why do people go to All Star games really you want to see the
- 24:06stars right and what do you want to see this party?
- 24:08What do you want to see the stars Do you want to see the
- 24:11stars be stars that's what you want so why are you watching
- 24:15Aaron judge play? You want to see him Jack a home
- 24:18run 500 feet. Why you want to see Cal rally
- 24:22hit at the plate because you want to see him hit 505 hundred
- 24:26home runs if he could that's what you want to see.
- 24:29You don't want to see oh, oh, did you see Juan Soto?
- 24:33See him bitch? And then he plays in the game
- 24:35and he gets a single or double. Nobody cares if he's hitting a
- 24:38single double or draws a walk. Nobody cares.
- 24:41Throw the ball over the plate and let him hit it.
- 24:43That's what I want to see. That's the whole point of the
- 24:46All Star game to entertain the fan.
- 24:49Does anybody care that the game was 6?
- 24:51Nothing. Now, I'll tell you this.
- 24:53If the game was like 30 to 20 and you're, you're watching a
- 24:56baseball game like a like a not even a hockey game, like a
- 24:59football game, that would be more interesting than watching a
- 25:02game end out end up what, four to three?
- 25:06Nobody cares. Nobody cares that the game ended
- 25:10that way. That's what.
- 25:11I'm saying I've seen back and forth on this other issue too
- 25:14and I want to get both of your guys's opinions.
- 25:17I like it because it's obviously a different environment to be
- 25:21able to do these. I love the on field as they're
- 25:25doing interviews. I love them.
- 25:27For that event, it definitely applies to that I think.
- 25:29I don't like it during the regular season.
- 25:31I understand that. But for this event, I thought it
- 25:34was great, like to see like actually like Clayton's literal
- 25:38like personality. If you didn't know him and it
- 25:41comes out and he's like, what do you want here?
- 25:43And then you know, he was like suck at big dumper.
- 25:46Like you don't get to hear those things.
- 25:48And it's like I for events like this, I, I really like it.
- 25:52Some people didn't like it as I was talking to them.
- 25:54I thought it was really cool and like how easy was the ABS system
- 25:59when they did it? It was 5 seconds and it was
- 26:01done. It was great.
- 26:03Yeah. And I'm like.
- 26:05I think the NBA was trying to implement that too into the All
- 26:07Star game. You've seen NBA throughout the
- 26:09year do the the players only broadcast so to try to implement
- 26:12that. So I think their baseball was
- 26:13trying a combination of that and they really only did it with the
- 26:15the national games. But now you're guys seeing it
- 26:17more. I like it's a job.
- 26:18I am with you on that. But you're right, I wouldn't do
- 26:19that in like every regular season.
- 26:20Game I think baseball is a generational sport that you've
- 26:25been watching. Most people are watching from
- 26:27the 1900s and now these All Star games for all professional.
- 26:31Look what look what the NFL has become.
- 26:33It's become flag football that because no, but none of the
- 26:36players were actually hitting the other players.
- 26:38So they they transition into flag football.
- 26:41It's more interesting to watch because the players are actually
- 26:44playing, but they don't want to tear their Achilles.
- 26:47They don't want to tear their rotator cuff.
- 26:49So what are they doing? They're just they're playing
- 26:51like a normal flag football game.
- 26:53It's funny. It's fun when you're watching
- 26:55like like Tyreek Hill run and do routes on the field because
- 26:59nobody can catch him. But when you watch some of the
- 27:01guys like Russell Wilson play or may play guys that shouldn't
- 27:05have even been in the All Star Game or the Pro Bowl, and then
- 27:08you then you look at the major leagues.
- 27:10That's why the World's Baseball Championships is more
- 27:14interesting than some people say the regular season of baseball.
- 27:17Why? Because everybody is playing for
- 27:20their colors. Why did the NHL decided for the
- 27:22All Star Game to transition into that?
- 27:24What do they call that? The Four Nations?
- 27:27Why did they do that? Because these players are going
- 27:30to play for their colors, they're going to play for their
- 27:32countries. So you're going to see a better
- 27:34game. Now, if I, this is what baseball
- 27:37should do, make the All Star game like that.
- 27:39Play four games, you know, not 4 innings or three, you know, 6
- 27:44innings or whatever the hell you're going to do.
- 27:46Speed up the innings. And what I would do is play four
- 27:49games or five games or whatever. However, or just or if you just
- 27:54switch it to the game where it's USA versus world any I mean, I
- 27:57get they don't want to like take it away.
- 27:59Oh kid from Omaha's starting for the 76ers in Summer League right
- 28:03now. There you.
- 28:06Go. Omaha.
- 28:07Omaha, Yeah. Josh takes it with the rest.
- 28:09Maybe just do it the one time. I I get why they don't because
- 28:13it gives us something as baseball fans to look forward to
- 28:17and and not during like the regular or All Star break.
- 28:22So I can see why they wouldn't, but it mean when you do like
- 28:26Futures games or you do the Olympics, it's it's only, it's
- 28:30your country. It's not American League,
- 28:33National League. So maybe they they switch,
- 28:36they're switching stuff all the time.
- 28:38So you just never do. But that's what.
- 28:39She's doing. You could probably.
- 28:41Even do well, I don't disagree you could.
- 28:42Probably even do a regional too do like North America, Caribbean
- 28:45and and Asia. Make it more interesting and I
- 28:48think these players will actually play if they're playing
- 28:51for their colors, and that's what I would think.
- 28:53Now, obviously the World Baseball Classics coming up at
- 28:56the end of this year and people are going to be more in tune to
- 28:58that. Look at the United States team.
- 29:00I don't think we've seen a United States team this good
- 29:03ever. I mean, look at the talent from
- 29:05top to bottom. They're catchers.
- 29:07Cal Rally, you have Aaron Judge, Bryce Harper, Mike Trout.
- 29:11All these guys are playing, turning.
- 29:13They're all, they're all actually doing it too.
- 29:15Like we've, we've seen guys commit to actually doing it,
- 29:19which that's, that's what I but it's also like when you get the
- 29:24opportunity to represent your country, it's, it's different.
- 29:26It is, it really is. It's not to say that it's not,
- 29:30but the first time I really got like AI guess a dose of how
- 29:35important it is, is why I would play with some guys in about
- 29:39August. I would see them like running
- 29:42stairs, lifting harder. And I was like, Hey, what?
- 29:46Like because they go back and play in Dominican winter ball
- 29:51and that means the world to them.
- 29:53They were all great players that I've played with.
- 29:55But like you just noticed it. It's just different when you get
- 29:58a like represent and and have I guess that that badge of honor
- 30:03of not only wearing your country, but like winning and
- 30:06being able to talk crap, you know, because that's half the
- 30:08fun when you get to beat somebody.
- 30:10But that's the whole point of the All Star game.
- 30:12You want, you want to get these guys to play, not sit back and
- 30:16hang out with each other in a dugout and look like, hey, did
- 30:18you see that woman over there? Do you see their, you know, in
- 30:21the 2nd row? Look at those titties.
- 30:22You know that's what's going on. I get it and we kind of touched
- 30:26on a little bit. I there should be some value on
- 30:29the game. I don't think there should be
- 30:31value of who gets home field advantage in the World Series
- 30:34because it that doesn't make sense.
- 30:36There should be something in it though.
- 30:38But I just like I like it because it's it's it's fun and
- 30:45you don't necessarily like have some like should there be
- 30:49something like do you get a bonus?
- 30:50Like people didn't realize the Home Run Derby, there was
- 30:53bonuses for first, second, third and 4th.
- 30:56Like it wasn't chump change either.
- 30:59And it's plus your bonus of playing.
- 31:00And people are like, Oh yeah, well, he's, he's talking about
- 31:03leaving money on the table. Well, I don't give a crap what
- 31:06you say. An extra half $1,000,000 or 3/4
- 31:09of a million is, is money. It's another trip for your
- 31:12family or it's another college education for your kids, like
- 31:15whatever. And I think it's just if they
- 31:20did like a whole swing off or switch it up, do stuff like I'd
- 31:25be in because it's the the game. The game really doesn't mean
- 31:28anything. No, it doesn't.
- 31:30And that to me is why I I can't stand watching it.
- 31:33And everybody asked me last night, I.
- 31:35You know it's the most watched All Star game of all the.
- 31:38I know. Still the best one.
- 31:39Yeah. Well, again, even though
- 31:41football is the biggest sport here in the United States when
- 31:44it comes to All Star games and talent as as far as superstars
- 31:47are concerned, there are more superstars.
- 31:50Yeah, there's more superstars playing in those baseball All
- 31:52Star games than any of the sports.
- 31:55And again, it's also the the you make the most money besides
- 31:59basketball because even though football is bringing in the most
- 32:02endorsements, it's going to the owners really and it's going to
- 32:06the commissioner. We all know that.
- 32:08It's not really going to the players when it comes to
- 32:10baseball and it comes to basketball.
- 32:12Basketball, 90% of it is going to the players.
- 32:17Really. If you look at it, it's a
- 32:18players league. It's not 90%.
- 32:20I'm sorry. That would be a little too much.
- 32:21I would say 6065% is really going somewhere, somewhere into
- 32:28the players hands. I look at baseball.
- 32:31Baseball is just you're really fighting for your own contract.
- 32:34You're you're your own man when it comes when you're going up to
- 32:37the plate and everybody says, well, you're playing for the
- 32:39team and I know what job are you going to say this?
- 32:41You're still a team player. Nobody cares about what the team
- 32:44is doing. They care about what you're
- 32:45doing because you're getting the contract in in seven years,
- 32:49you're going to be asking for four hundred $500 million.
- 32:53The team isn't because every single one of those players are
- 32:56going to be asking for a separate contract.
- 32:58That's that's the fact. So you're going up there playing
- 33:01for yourself and now there are other players that are team
- 33:03players. I'm not saying that Aaron Judge
- 33:05isn't playing for the Yankees and trying to win a championship
- 33:08for the Yankees, but he's going up there for his family.
- 33:10He's going up there for his contract.
- 33:12That's. Well, his, his, his.
- 33:13It's different now because he got his contract, but like and.
- 33:16You know what I mean? You know what I'm?
- 33:18Saying no, no, and I will say kind of this in the same way as
- 33:21like we, we as a fraternity, like we want the guy in like our
- 33:28position to get broke off because what does that do for
- 33:33us? If I go perform, I kind of have
- 33:35his same numbers and ability. Like now he goes and sets a
- 33:40record. It's like, boom, OK, now I can
- 33:44set that number because my number wasn't that high.
- 33:46It's funny how people always are like don't like the Red Sox or
- 33:49whatever. And I'm like, I love everybody
- 33:51that signs a contract because that helps us at any point.
- 33:54And I was back when I signed my first arbitration project, it
- 33:59was the largest ever for a non closure in arbitration.
- 34:02Oh wow, and then Craig Breslow said it two weeks like he broke
- 34:07my record 2 weeks after because he used mine.
- 34:11Yeah, records. Are meant to be broken, but we
- 34:13love that. That's why we wanna see these
- 34:16guys do that and that's why we root for one another and why we
- 34:19have that fraternity. It's like you see it and they're
- 34:22like awesome. You just set a record and it's
- 34:24boom, like here you go, here you go, like it's numbers.
- 34:27It's all about money. That's what these games are all
- 34:30about. And and again, going back to
- 34:32guys like Aaron Judge or Shay Otani, Shay Otani just he just
- 34:36got a contract a couple of years ago worth about 70 million a
- 34:39year. That's what he's making and he's
- 34:42not getting it right now because it's deferred money until like
- 34:4412 years down the road. But he.
- 34:46Is going to make his his New Balance in Japanese ones he's
- 34:50making 50 million. Here, we all know what he's
- 34:52making every single year without the contract.
- 34:54The whole point is, is that these players are playing for
- 34:57those teams, but they're really not playing for the the brand,
- 35:01the team name, the the logo, they're playing for their logo.
- 35:05Why do you think these guys have their own products?
- 35:08Why do you think these guys after the fact they're wearing
- 35:10their own cleats, their own names on their cleats, their own
- 35:13socks, their own gloves. I mean, half of these guys are
- 35:17all about promoting their own product, not the MLB, and that's
- 35:21the fact. And I'm just speaking to truth
- 35:23here. So when you're playing any old
- 35:24star game, what are you going to do on national television?
- 35:27If I was a player. Right now.
- 35:29No, it well have fun, yes, but the whole point for me, if I'm
- 35:33if I'm trying to bring in more generational money, what I'm
- 35:36doing is I'm bringing in I'm going to wear my own gloves I'm
- 35:39going to wear pink gloves nobody's ever seen before so
- 35:42people could see it on television say I want those,
- 35:45Aaron Judge wore those Bryce Harper won those my Trout wore
- 35:49those. I want those I'm going to go to
- 35:50stores to get them so. Girl, we we shorted Ohtani.
- 35:54This is via sportaco.com. Shohei's supposed to make $102
- 36:00million off the field. That's ridiculous.
- 36:04How does somebody make $102,000,000 and just be OK with
- 36:08it? That's, that's including the 2
- 36:09million that he's making playing.
- 36:11So it's 100 million. So 98% of his salary is coming
- 36:17from like New Balance beats. Oh my gosh, I didn't realize it
- 36:23was that much. Spit it out, speedy.
- 36:25You see during the Korea series Java there was that whole like
- 36:28street with like their equivalent.
- 36:30Tokyo's equivalent of Times Square just had also a Otani.
- 36:33Either sponsors or videos like all during that series.
- 36:36That's what I'm saying. These guys are all about making
- 36:39money, generational money through the products that
- 36:42they're trying to sell. So if I'm playing in an All Star
- 36:44game and I'm out there trying to show off something, I'm showing
- 36:48off something that fans are going to see me wearing or
- 36:52playing with that they're going to say, mom, I want that dad, I
- 36:55want that go get me that, you know, so that's the whole point.
- 36:58I think for these big games, national televised games is, is
- 37:02getting, you know, fans to see what they're doing, what they're
- 37:05wearing and what they're sporting.
- 37:06I mean, the first thing I see when I would see these guys wear
- 37:09their, their necklaces is where do you get that necklace?
- 37:12I it's not gold. What is that?
- 37:13Is that is that black diamonds? And then I'm looking all over
- 37:17social media trying to fight find a replica of it because
- 37:20because I like it. I like to shine.
- 37:22I mean, I saw Patrick Mahomes a couple of years ago after the
- 37:26Super Bowl. He was putting on his necklaces
- 37:282 double like diamond, black diamond necklaces.
- 37:31And I'm like, are those really? I mean, he was shining in the
- 37:33lights. I'm like, those are those are
- 37:34hot. I got to find.
- 37:35So I was all over Amazon. I was all over Google trying to
- 37:38find out what he was wearing. I was Googling Patrick Mahomes
- 37:43necklaces at Super Bowl, blah, blah, blah.
- 37:46I was looking all over for I couldn't find it.
- 37:48But you know, that's what I'm saying when you see it on
- 37:51national television and, and you're interested in in trying
- 37:54to to buy the product, the first thing you're going to do is
- 37:57you're going to Google it, you're going to go on Amazon,
- 37:59you're going to try to find it. So I.
- 38:00Think I love that you said necklace because you remember as
- 38:04baseball fans, you remember when the fighting craze came about
- 38:07Yes yes and like those I just a buddy sent me when he goes.
- 38:11I just found this in my parents' house and I wore it because of
- 38:15you. My dad wore one almost till the
- 38:17day I put him in the dirt. I'm like, Dad, that shit ain't
- 38:21hot no more. Let's let's take that off.
- 38:23They've already, they've already paid me my, they've already paid
- 38:25me my 200 grand. You know, let's not talk about
- 38:28dirt because your speed. He's grown some dirt under his
- 38:30nose. You know what I mean?
- 38:32A lot of dirt under his nose. He's starting to look like Moses
- 38:34again. I ain't.
- 38:36Eventually he's going to look at Jesus Christ.
- 38:38I it to me, I, I look at the game and, and, and the way the
- 38:43game is played over the last couple of years, it, it's not
- 38:47become a sport where everybody is trying to, you know, trying
- 38:51to win the fan over because they're stealing bases or
- 38:54playing great defense. They're they want to see the
- 38:56jacks, they want to see the home runs, They want to see the power
- 38:59hitters. They want to see those guys hit
- 39:01those 600 foot home runs. I mean, if you ever see one,
- 39:04that's. What they want to see, they want
- 39:06to see 100. And how about yes and the
- 39:08pitchers? And the pitchers throwing 100
- 39:11mph, that's what you want to see consistently.
- 39:14I mean, again, we, we, we talk about school ball, He what he
- 39:19does and it's pretty it's pretty amazing how he throws the ball
- 39:23and how he notches at at the end of the game, his last pitch of
- 39:26the game, pitching a full game, practically really perfect,
- 39:30perfect throwing 103 mph. I mean, it's incredible how much
- 39:36how much power these guys have at the end there he is right
- 39:39there. So it's yes, Tariq school.
- 39:43I I got the name right. So again, I I look at the game,
- 39:47you want to see the power pitchers, you want to see the
- 39:49power hitters. It doesn't work in the playoffs
- 39:52and everybody knows that. If you're a baseball fan, we
- 39:54have one right over here. Thomas, he's a Yankee fan and
- 39:57he's a die hard Yankee fan. The Yankees have been known as
- 40:00we all know they're they're all about power.
- 40:03You know, the Bronx Bombers. Power doesn't win championships.
- 40:07And, and again, Steinbrenner learned that the hard way in the
- 40:1080s. How many championships did the
- 40:12Yankees win in the 80s? OK.
- 40:14And. Terrible.
- 40:16But actually they actually not. They had the best winning
- 40:18percentage of the. American.
- 40:19They did, but they could never get over the hump.
- 40:21And there was no wild card. Yeah, they had no wild cards at
- 40:24that time. And with Don Mattingly having
- 40:26the best years of his career in the 80s, it didn't really
- 40:29matter. The Yankees ruined Don
- 40:31Mattingly. The five, I would say five of
- 40:33the best years a Yankee has ever had.
- 40:35Go look at Don Mattingly's numbers.
- 40:37They. Ridiculous.
- 40:37Aaron Judge did give shout out though.
- 40:40Did give shout out for his Hitman blazer.
- 40:42Did he give a shout out to somebody else's Blazer Blazer
- 40:48himself? There wasn't.
- 40:51The outfits weren't as outlandish as they usually are.
- 40:54Actually, the Espy's on tonight. We got to watch that.
- 40:57I know I'm watching it right? Now I got to put the espy's on
- 41:00because I'll. Also find out what stupid thing
- 41:02LeBron will say. Well, I could care less what
- 41:04Lebron's going to say. And by the way, the LJA is
- 41:07there. Everybody is there from the LJA.
- 41:10I saw Chris Paul there. Carmel What the?
- 41:12Hell is the entire. Mellow Anthony, Dwyane Wade
- 41:15doing there. They're not even in the league
- 41:17anymore. What the hell are they doing at
- 41:20the SP Awards? I don't.
- 41:21And by the way, they're probably.
- 41:23Probably getting away from their wives.
- 41:25No, they're wives are with them. They're wives are with.
- 41:27Them they're part of the Wine Click Java.
- 41:29Is this, is this it right here? This has got to be it's ABC, so
- 41:32it's got to be it best championship performance.
- 41:34I think what baseball needs is they need to figure out a way
- 41:37that's going to draw more fans or more young baseball fans to
- 41:42be more intrigued to watch a professional All Star game.
- 41:46Because to me, I have no interest and that's why I
- 41:49didn't. I wasn't really tuned in to
- 41:51watch it. That's the point.
- 41:52I even, I would rather watch the NBA All Star game and watch
- 41:57these guys do these tomahawk dunks or Giannis, you know,
- 42:01throw the ball against the backboard and or I saw Chris
- 42:04Paul bounce the ball off the backboard to Blake Griffin over
- 42:08the years. I mean, that's what you want to
- 42:10see. You want to see these crazy,
- 42:11ridiculous dunks and crazy things in the All Star game.
- 42:14You just don't see that in baseball it's either.
- 42:16But I but I think it's, I think it's different though, because
- 42:18you got guys like pulling up basically from half court.
- 42:21Like at least baseball has some realness of what the real game
- 42:26is because you still got to stay in 60 feet, 6 inches.
- 42:28You're not going to pull from half court unless it's a buzzer
- 42:31beater. You're still going to swing.
- 42:33You're going to be smart. So I think there's a little bit
- 42:36different flashiness when it comes down to it.
- 42:39And it's like Euanio Suarez, who thank goodness nothing happened,
- 42:43but he got hit in the 8th inning.
- 42:44Like there's like there's real stuff, like you're still getting
- 42:49faced. I just think it's literally like
- 42:53the NBA is a gimmick. The MLB is still the game.
- 42:56I think it's. All it's not, they're not,
- 42:58they're not like going balls to the wall, right?
- 43:01Jabba the game, Every single sport is a gimmick now.
- 43:04It's all about business. It's all about.
- 43:06Not the, not the, not MLB. All because you still are.
- 43:09You kidding me? The the betting man is.
- 43:11Going to go out the game. On the whole game, they're going
- 43:13to bet on the whole game. Bryce Harper, is he going to get
- 43:16a hit in the game? Is oh, is right.
- 43:18I'm not saying they are, but is. But is the score 30 to 20 like
- 43:22you brought up? No, it's still a game if not 165
- 43:26to 150. I would rather it be a gimmick
- 43:29then watch the garbage of A. No, I want to watch it 6
- 43:32Nothing. They come back the infield thing
- 43:34and he runs his tail off Stephen Kwan ran as hard as he did in
- 43:38the regular season to beat that ball out.
- 43:39Ronald Acuna did the same thing early in the game to beat a ball
- 43:42out in first. I love that NBA All Star game is
- 43:47not garbage as Charles Bark would say it's.
- 43:50True. All right, let's go to the deuce
- 43:51of the day. The deuce of the day.
- 43:55You log. Not a log.
- 43:56I don't have a log. But no.
- 44:05All right, ladies and gentlemen, my deuce of the day goes to, you
- 44:08know, I've been trying to think of a way I can attack the New
- 44:11York Yankees. Here's my deuce to the Chisholm,
- 44:15the chizzy man who came out after that debacle of a Home Run
- 44:20Derby and said, hey, Yankee fans, don't worry about the Home
- 44:23Run Derby. I'm going to do something
- 44:25electrifying after the set going into the second-half of the
- 44:29season. I'm going to take my team to a
- 44:32World Series and win a World Series.
- 44:33This is the this is the problem right now with the New York
- 44:37Yankees. You have spectators and asses
- 44:41like Jazz Chisholm coming out and again saying that the
- 44:44Yankees are going to win a World Series and he's going to help
- 44:47them go all the way to the World Series and win one.
- 44:50When the guy couldn't hit more than three home runs in a Home
- 44:52Run Derby when somebody S lobbing the ball over the plate.
- 44:55This idiot had the audacity after say the Yankees are going
- 45:00to the World Series and he's going to help them go there.
- 45:03Jazz, shut up. I don't want to hear any more of
- 45:06the garbage coming out of your mouth.
- 45:07It's so stupid. I want to hurl every time I look
- 45:10at your face. I I call you Jism because I
- 45:13rather go into the bathroom and look at a hot beautiful woman
- 45:18and have a little fun, then listen to the garbage that comes
- 45:21out of your goddamn mouth. I can't stand it.
- 45:24I think the guy is just all, oh, I don't know what he is.
- 45:29He I, I don't even know I've done with this.
- 45:31My dues of the day goes to the Chisholm man because he's
- 45:34nothing but a nice jizz for everybody to have a little fun
- 45:37with. And anybody.
- 45:38I don't know what I forgot what Nathan said.
- 45:40There was a there was a porn star all over the tabloids
- 45:44recently, I think, and I'd rather look at her than look at
- 45:47look at Jazz actually play baseball.
- 45:49I know he's playing pretty good baseball.
- 45:51I know he's one of the hottest hitters in baseball in the in
- 45:54the last couple of weeks, the guy made an embarrassment of
- 45:57himself right there at the Home Run Derby and then it comes out
- 45:59and says that embarrassing crap. It's just I, I'm so tired of
- 46:02hearing him. I don't want to hear it anymore.
- 46:04Just shut your mouth, zip your mouth.
- 46:05I'd rather hear Aaron Judge open his mouth than hear you say it.
