- 0:07Speaker 1: It's podcast. Welcome to Meat Eater Trivia, the only game
- 0:12Speaker 1: show where conservation always wins. I'm your host, Spencer Newhart,
- 0:16Speaker 1: and today we're joined by Brodie Yannis, Chester Randall, Seth Chili,
- 0:21Speaker 1: and Taylor Taylan. This is your first time on trivia.
- 0:24Speaker 1: Tell folks what you do here at meat Eater.
- 0:26Speaker 2: All right, Yes, my name is Taylan. This is my
- 0:29Speaker 2: first day at meat Eater.
- 0:31Speaker 1: Literally first day. You've been here what like two hours?
- 0:34Speaker 3: Maybe?
- 0:34Speaker 2: Okay, maybe I have no idea what I'm getting into. Anyway,
- 0:39Speaker 2: I'm an intern here. I'm working in sales administration with
- 0:42Speaker 2: Colin uh and I go to Montana State.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Welcome. Did you know that we have like podcasts here?
- 0:50Speaker 2: Like?
- 0:50Speaker 4: Is that something I did?
- 0:51Speaker 1: Okay, you're not You're not aware of this show?
- 0:54Speaker 2: I am Okay, I didn't know I was walking into
- 0:57Speaker 2: a podcast.
- 0:58Speaker 5: Okay, Well, well the thank you.
- 1:01Speaker 1: This is a ten round quiz show with questions for
- 1:03Speaker 1: meat eaters four verticals which are hunting, fishing, conservation, and cooking,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and there is a prize. Meat Eater will donate five
- 1:10Speaker 1: hundred dollars to the conservation organization of the winners choosing
- 1:14Speaker 1: and for the stat of the week. This week, we're
- 1:15Speaker 1: looking at players success rate in each category. On average,
- 1:20Speaker 1: players get hunting questions correct forty one percent of the time,
- 1:24Speaker 1: fishing questions correct thirty eight percent of the time, conservation
- 1:28Speaker 1: questions correct forty three percent of the time, and cooking
- 1:31Speaker 1: questions correct forty five percent of the time. So by
- 1:35Speaker 1: those stats, the fishing category is hardest and cooking category
- 1:39Speaker 1: is easiest. Thoughts, does that seem right to you, Yanni?
- 1:44Speaker 6: I'm just surprised that when you listed them just now
- 1:47Speaker 6: that you didn't like put them in order, that's what
- 1:51Speaker 6: the hardest. That confused me. But yeah, I would have
- 1:56Speaker 6: thought that we would have done best in the hunting category.
- 1:59Speaker 1: Best in the hunty you do third best in the
- 2:01Speaker 1: hunting category, and like we've talked about before, chat GPT
- 2:04Speaker 1: does the worst in the hunting category, so you have
- 2:07Speaker 1: a leg up there, but everything else chat GPT would
- 2:10Speaker 1: whoop you.
- 2:10Speaker 7: Do you know if we have the most like hunting questions, like,
- 2:15Speaker 7: what's the question or the topic you ask most often?
- 2:18Speaker 1: I think conservation. A lot of things that go to
- 2:21Speaker 1: the fringe of the meat eater universe just get lumped
- 2:23Speaker 1: under conservation. So if I had to guess it would
- 2:25Speaker 1: be like forty percent of the questions or conservation, which
- 2:30Speaker 1: would be a little over represented there. And here's our
- 2:33Speaker 1: new segment, FAQs. If you have a question for our
- 2:37Speaker 1: crew related to Mediater trivia, you can send it to
- 2:39Speaker 1: trivia at the medeater dot com with the subject line FAQ.
- 2:43Speaker 1: We are doing two of them this week.
- 2:45Speaker 6: The first I'd like to add though that don't feel
- 2:48Speaker 6: like ten other people have to also send in the
- 2:51Speaker 6: question that you have because last time on this show,
- 2:54Speaker 6: Spencer picked when we're only one person had asked this question,
- 2:57Speaker 6: so it wasn't really a frequently asked ut question.
- 3:00Speaker 1: The first question, the first question is from Tyler LV.
- 3:06Speaker 1: He says, I feel your choice of subject line is uninspired.
- 3:10Speaker 1: At the very least, it should be I FAQ for
- 3:13Speaker 1: infrequently asked questions. You know what, Tyler, You're exactly right.
- 3:17Speaker 1: That's better. So going forward we're going to call this
- 3:19Speaker 1: I FAQ's if you have a question for the crew
- 3:22Speaker 1: about trivia, the rite trivia at the Mediator dot com
- 3:26Speaker 1: with the subject line I FAQ. Does that satisfy you?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yannie love it?
- 3:31Speaker 4: Now?
- 3:31Speaker 1: Here's our other question from Jason White. Do you use
- 3:35Speaker 1: the Shelby index to influence the questions asked. If a
- 3:39Speaker 1: Shelby index is too high or low, do you make changes?
- 3:43Speaker 1: Short answers yes. Long answer is that the Shelby index
- 3:47Speaker 1: is when I ask my questions to my wife, who
- 3:50Speaker 1: is not a subject matter expert on hunting, fishing, conservation,
- 3:53Speaker 1: or cooking, and I see how she does. I realized
- 3:56Speaker 1: early on in the show that she gets about half
- 3:58Speaker 1: as many right as our winner. Do I change questions
- 4:03Speaker 1: based on if it's too high or too low? Yes,
- 4:05Speaker 1: If she only gets one right, I will swap in
- 4:07Speaker 1: a question that I think is easier that she would
- 4:09Speaker 1: get right. Or it would change the phrasing of a question.
- 4:12Speaker 1: If there was a question about a state and I'm
- 4:14Speaker 1: looking for the answer to be like Maine, maybe the
- 4:17Speaker 1: question originally it was just like what state, YadA, YadA,
- 4:20Speaker 1: I would then change it to like what New England
- 4:22Speaker 1: state to give our players a better chance. So yes,
- 4:26Speaker 1: I do change the questions based on if the Shelby
- 4:29Speaker 1: index is too high or too low. I shoot for
- 4:32Speaker 1: a Shelby index that's between three and five. I think
- 4:35Speaker 1: that makes for a good game of trivia. Now we
- 4:38Speaker 1: have some housekeeping. It get to you. In a previous
- 4:40Speaker 1: game of trivia, we had a question about bangers and mash,
- 4:42Speaker 1: which I declared to be a Saint Patti's Day staple.
- 4:46Speaker 1: But we had about a dozen listeners right in saying
- 4:48Speaker 1: they were Irish and that this dish wasn't part of
- 4:51Speaker 1: their cultural heritage at all. Still, I found parts of
- 4:54Speaker 1: the internet that disagree, calling bangers in mash, a widely
- 4:57Speaker 1: popular pub dish in Ireland, the perfect Irish comfort food
- 5:02Speaker 1: in a Saint Patrick's Day tradition. But I'll admit that
- 5:05Speaker 1: those who rode in weren't totally wrong, and that it's
- 5:07Speaker 1: more appropriate to describe bangers and mash as a British
- 5:11Speaker 1: dish instead of an Irish one. So that's a change
- 5:14Speaker 1: I'll make when this question appears in our next board game. Now,
- 5:18Speaker 1: the Shelby indexpert today's round is a five, so I'm
- 5:20Speaker 1: putting us on perfect game alert, and with that we're
- 5:24Speaker 1: onto the game of trivia. Play the drop, Phil, Look, I.
- 5:31Speaker 4: Need to know what I stay under?
- 5:32Speaker 1: Win everything?
- 5:35Speaker 4: How's that? Just tend to win everything?
- 5:44Speaker 2: Demon suckers?
- 5:47Speaker 4: It's so nice to get an uninterrupted intro.
- 5:49Speaker 1: You like that?
- 5:50Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 5:50Speaker 1: What was so funny over here, Jannie. We had a
- 5:52Speaker 1: few giggles.
- 5:55Speaker 6: I just fired up. I was in my head. I
- 5:59Speaker 6: was wondering if Tailor never even heard that intro? Never
- 6:02Speaker 6: or so you've never listened to this show.
- 6:05Speaker 8: Usually we don't get to hear it if Cal's in
- 6:07Speaker 8: the room.
- 6:11Speaker 1: Question one. The topic is public lands, and as always,
- 6:14Speaker 1: the first question will be multiple choice. This first great
- 6:17Speaker 1: question comes to us via Samantha McCann. Which of these
- 6:22Speaker 1: is not a real land designation within the National Park Service?
- 6:27Speaker 1: Is it National fossil Bed, National lake Shore, National Historic Trail,
- 6:32Speaker 1: or National Military Park? Which of these is not a
- 6:38Speaker 1: real land designation within the National Park Service? That means
- 6:42Speaker 1: three of them are real, one of them is not.
- 6:45Speaker 1: Is it National fossil bed, National lake Shore, National Historic Trail,
- 6:52Speaker 1: or National Military Park. Johnny looking around the room, surveying
- 6:58Speaker 1: his competitors, Yanni, what did you observe there?
- 7:06Speaker 6: Nothing other than Randall had already had had an answer.
- 7:09Speaker 1: But confident Randall, I feel pretty good.
- 7:13Speaker 4: I feel pretty good.
- 7:14Speaker 1: Now. You know you can mess with Yanni. You can.
- 7:16Speaker 1: You could do some extra writing on your board, just
- 7:19Speaker 1: tap away at that's right, Uh huh, you can make it.
- 7:22Speaker 4: Maybe I'm racing. Now, maybe I'm not.
- 7:25Speaker 1: Your four choices are national fossil bed, national lake shore,
- 7:28Speaker 1: National Historic trail, national military park.
- 7:33Speaker 4: I'm messing with myself.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Brodi, do you have an answer.
- 7:36Speaker 6: It's an honest group.
- 7:37Speaker 8: I've got an answer, but I want to write yet.
- 7:41Speaker 6: That's true?
- 7:42Speaker 1: All right, but everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 7:47Speaker 1: We have seth saying lake shore. Chest You're saying military park,
- 7:52Speaker 1: Chili saying military park, Randall saying fossil bed, Tailing saying
- 7:57Speaker 1: historic trail, Yannis saying military park. Brody saying fossil bed.
- 8:04Speaker 1: The correct answer is national fossil bed. Randall, got it right.
- 8:11Speaker 1: An example of a national lakeshore is the Sleeping Bear
- 8:14Speaker 1: Dunes National Lakeshore in Michigan. An example of a National
- 8:18Speaker 1: Historic Trail is the Oregon National Historic Trail that passes
- 8:22Speaker 1: through six states. An example of a national military park
- 8:26Speaker 1: is Gettysburg National Military Park in Pennsylvania. The Park Service
- 8:30Speaker 1: does not. The Park Service does protect some fossil beds,
- 8:35Speaker 1: like the Hagermann Fossil Beds in Idaho and Florescent fossil
- 8:38Speaker 1: Beds in Colorado, but those are national monuments. Question two
- 8:44Speaker 1: the topic is hunting. This deer hunting arcade game, which
- 8:49Speaker 1: uses green and orange guns for controllers, was inspired by
- 8:53Speaker 1: Nintendo's Duck Hunt. This deer hunting are arcade game, which
- 9:01Speaker 1: uses green and orange guns for controllers, was inspired by
- 9:05Speaker 1: Nintendo's Duck Hunt. We seem to have a confident room
- 9:09Speaker 1: besides Yanni and Chester. Seth.
- 9:13Speaker 6: Do you know Jayalen you know this? I think so
- 9:15Speaker 6: y got an idea.
- 9:16Speaker 2: We had an arcade game in my apartment building with
- 9:20Speaker 2: green and orange guns. Okay, if I can remember the
- 9:23Speaker 2: name right, have you played?
- 9:25Speaker 1: Have you played this game? You think?
- 9:27Speaker 7: Yes?
- 9:27Speaker 6: I have.
- 9:28Speaker 2: I played the game I'm thinking of, but I don't
- 9:29Speaker 2: know if I'm remembering the name quite right.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Seth, you played this game?
- 9:33Speaker 3: Oh yeah?
- 9:33Speaker 1: Are you good at it?
- 9:34Speaker 3: You think?
- 9:35Speaker 1: Uh?
- 9:37Speaker 3: I'm all right.
- 9:39Speaker 1: Faction guns not going to give you any hints, Brody,
- 9:42Speaker 1: I will tell.
- 9:43Speaker 6: You that's not a him that they are green and orange.
- 9:47Speaker 6: But speaking of funny ball thing like that, yesterday I
- 9:50Speaker 6: was trying to find the games on streaming TV. I'm
- 9:55Speaker 6: still to the point with all that technology where I'm like,
- 9:57Speaker 6: I don't know, I just check them all and hopefully
- 9:59Speaker 6: I'll pop up somewhere, but there was a movie just
- 10:02Speaker 6: on and playing, some random, random movie that just comes
- 10:05Speaker 6: on the smart TV. There's some kind of a horror
- 10:07Speaker 6: flick and I.
- 10:08Speaker 4: Think it was called the Triangle.
- 10:10Speaker 6: Maybe that rings a bell. They were on a big boat.
- 10:12Speaker 9: Of some sort, this Triangle of sadness. It's not a
- 10:15Speaker 9: it's not a horror film.
- 10:19Speaker 6: I'm just clarifying for it. It's not a horror film.
- 10:22Speaker 6: As a dude with a mat with a bag over
- 10:25Speaker 6: his head chasing a young woman, a romantic lead woman
- 10:29Speaker 6: around with a shotgun, shooting other women. I just caught
- 10:33Speaker 6: it when he'd already shot a couple and then he's
- 10:35Speaker 6: chasing this one and she puts up a good.
- 10:37Speaker 8: Did it take place in the Bermuda Triangle?
- 10:40Speaker 6: But I only caught a little bit of it. I
- 10:42Speaker 6: just want to tell you about this specific part is
- 10:44Speaker 6: where I noticed that he's reloading his believe is over
- 10:48Speaker 6: under and he shoots and then you hear.
- 10:53Speaker 3: You gotta put that sound in. It's movie magic.
- 10:56Speaker 10: It's like the elk bugle during wintertime home.
- 11:01Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer for the deer hunting arcade
- 11:04Speaker 1: game with green and orange gun controllers? Go ahead and
- 11:09Speaker 1: reveal your answers. We have Seth saying big buck Hunter,
- 11:13Speaker 1: Chester Buck Hunter, Chili saying big buck Hunter, Randall saying
- 11:19Speaker 1: big buck Hunter, Taylor saying big game hunting, Giannis saying
- 11:24Speaker 1: big game Hunter. Brody saying big buck Hunter.
- 11:28Speaker 7: Dude, I erased big I just hate this game.
- 11:33Speaker 1: He's got to answer big correct answer is big buck Hunter?
- 11:38Speaker 1: One word away?
- 11:40Speaker 4: Do you hate the arcade game or the or trivia?
- 11:42Speaker 7: I don't like the arcade game.
- 11:45Speaker 1: Big buck Hunter came out in two thousand. The goal
- 11:48Speaker 1: of the game is to shoot and moving bucks without
- 11:51Speaker 1: hitting a dough every fall. Is the World Championship Big
- 11:55Speaker 1: Buck Hunter Tournament, where the one hundred and twenty eight
- 11:58Speaker 1: best players from around the globe pete for a trophy
- 12:01Speaker 1: and twenty thousand dollars.
- 12:03Speaker 8: Really does a good job of teaching kids ethical hunting
- 12:06Speaker 8: that game.
- 12:07Speaker 1: And you can tell no real hunters play it because
- 12:09Speaker 1: they always hold the World Championship Tournament like the first
- 12:12Speaker 1: week in November or the last week of October. Brody,
- 12:15Speaker 1: I'm surprised you were so quick to answer. How did
- 12:17Speaker 1: you know that? One?
- 12:18Speaker 4: Oh?
- 12:18Speaker 8: I mean in college I used to throw the money
- 12:21Speaker 8: into that thing. Really two thousand. I guess it was
- 12:24Speaker 8: in college then, but I feel like it was around
- 12:26Speaker 8: back then.
- 12:27Speaker 3: Anyway, they ought to make a big dough hunter.
- 12:29Speaker 5: I'm sure that's good.
- 12:32Speaker 1: You can target you get out a corner of that
- 12:33Speaker 1: market set question.
- 12:35Speaker 4: Get disqualified for shooting bucks.
- 12:37Speaker 3: Yeah, there you go.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Question three, Hey, College Shoulder Season. Question three. The topic
- 12:43Speaker 1: is forging. This is our listener question of the week,
- 12:46Speaker 1: which was won by Stan Wishman for sending this great question.
- 12:50Speaker 1: Stan is going to get a board game signed by
- 12:52Speaker 1: the crew. If you want a chance to win the
- 12:54Speaker 1: Listener Question of the Week, then send your question to
- 12:56Speaker 1: Trivia at the meat eater dot com. This nine letter
- 13:00Speaker 1: tree has leaves that are used to make gumbo, bark
- 13:04Speaker 1: that's used to make syrup, and roots that are used
- 13:07Speaker 1: to make root beer. Your answer should have nine letters.
- 13:13Speaker 1: This nine letter tree has leaves that are used to
- 13:17Speaker 1: make gumbo, bark that's used to make syrup, and roots
- 13:21Speaker 1: that are used to make root beer.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Do those letters need to be like.
- 13:29Speaker 1: In the correct order as in like, No, you don't
- 13:31Speaker 1: have to spell it correctly.
- 13:33Speaker 4: If that's you just like or take away misspell it
- 13:36Speaker 4: with eight letters.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Well, there's a correct answer. The nine letters is a hint.
- 13:41Speaker 1: You could spell it however you'd like. Yanni was one
- 13:46Speaker 1: of the quickest to come up with an answer. You
- 13:47Speaker 1: know this one, Yanni? You know a tree? Nine letters? Yes, Brody,
- 13:53Speaker 1: do you know this one? Brody and Yanni and I.
- 13:57Speaker 6: Would have had a different answer had there not been the.
- 14:01Speaker 1: Randall.
- 14:01Speaker 4: You know this one, I believe. So my first, my first,
- 14:05Speaker 4: the first thing that came to mind immediately had twelve letters,
- 14:08Speaker 4: and then I realized I was thinking of an entirely
- 14:10Speaker 4: different use for plants. So I think I'm on the
- 14:14Speaker 4: right track.
- 14:14Speaker 1: Now, this nine letter tree has leaves that are used
- 14:17Speaker 1: to make gumbo, bark that's used to make syrup, and
- 14:21Speaker 1: roots that are used to make beer. Brodie's using his
- 14:28Speaker 1: fingers and toes over here the.
- 14:30Speaker 4: Gumbo thing, Yeah, the gumbo things.
- 14:36Speaker 1: Our room appears to be stumped, except for Randal, Yanni.
- 14:40Speaker 3: And bark used to make syrup.
- 14:44Speaker 1: That's right.
- 14:47Speaker 6: I'll learned something fascinating about fire adapted oaks the other day.
- 14:51Speaker 6: Did you know that there are leaves. The way they're
- 14:53Speaker 6: shaped and the way they curl up on the ground
- 14:56Speaker 6: they're dry, is actually to promote fire burning through I
- 15:00Speaker 6: did not know that isn't that interesting?
- 15:02Speaker 1: It is interesting. Are you folks without an answer going
- 15:06Speaker 1: to come up with an answer? You think negative?
- 15:09Speaker 3: Seth? I'm gonna hate myself when I hear the answer.
- 15:12Speaker 1: Okay, is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 15:17Speaker 1: We have Seth, chester and chili without an answer? Random
- 15:22Speaker 1: Sassafrans tailor saying sassafras, Yeah, sayings Brody saying Sassafrans.
- 15:28Speaker 3: They got it.
- 15:29Speaker 1: The correct answer is what do you get?
- 15:32Speaker 10: I wrote down sasafras, felt it wrong. It wasn't.
- 15:41Speaker 3: Is the issue I think I was. Yeah, it didn't
- 15:44Speaker 3: come out.
- 15:44Speaker 8: To initially wrote ECUs.
- 15:48Speaker 4: And so then the nine letter thing really helped me.
- 15:51Speaker 1: Sassafras is a native tree that's found in almost every
- 15:55Speaker 1: state east of the Mississippi River. Native Americans found that
- 15:58Speaker 1: it had mini bodness medicinal uses such as treating skin
- 16:02Speaker 1: diseases and stomach ailments. Today, it's dried leaves are used
- 16:06Speaker 1: in gumbo and other soups. Its roots are used to
- 16:09Speaker 1: make root beer and tea, and its bark is used
- 16:11Speaker 1: to make syrup infused honey and kombucha.
- 16:15Speaker 9: Yeah, I think it's it's leaves when they're ground up
- 16:17Speaker 9: and putting gumbo.
- 16:18Speaker 3: It's called.
- 16:20Speaker 8: Exactly some actual flavored text that's tasty.
- 16:26Speaker 1: Question four, the topic is fishing. This type of top
- 16:32Speaker 1: water bass lure, which resembles a spinner bait, creates a
- 16:36Speaker 1: bubble trail when retrieved. We have confident Brodie Seth uncapped
- 16:43Speaker 1: his marker with some confidence. I'm guessing he's going to
- 16:46Speaker 1: get this one. This type of topwater bass lure, which
- 16:49Speaker 1: resembles a spinner baitm creates a bubble trail when retrieved.
- 16:56Speaker 8: Really satisfying lure to fish.
- 17:01Speaker 1: There's a hint.
- 17:01Speaker 6: I've caught a few bucket mouths on it. Seth.
- 17:04Speaker 1: Do you have any of these in your tackle box?
- 17:07Speaker 7: Uh?
- 17:07Speaker 3: Yeah, well I have currently I have like one maybe two.
- 17:11Speaker 1: Have you ever used one in Montana?
- 17:14Speaker 3: No? I think the ones I have are still in
- 17:16Speaker 3: the packaging.
- 17:16Speaker 1: Pike, there's a hint for chester Chester. Do you know
- 17:20Speaker 1: this one?
- 17:21Speaker 7: I mean, I think so, but I have just.
- 17:28Speaker 3: Large mouthfishing in Montana's minimal. But Brodie said they work
- 17:33Speaker 3: for pike.
- 17:33Speaker 1: This type of top water bass lure, which resembles a
- 17:36Speaker 1: spinner bait, creates a bubble trail when retrieved.
- 17:42Speaker 6: Speaking of Pike. I was talking to a fellow that
- 17:44Speaker 6: was going to fish the uh Stagecoach Reservoir Ice Fishing
- 17:48Speaker 6: tournament this past weekend, and he said, now there's a
- 17:51Speaker 6: mandatory kill on.
- 17:53Speaker 8: All of the at war against those things.
- 17:55Speaker 6: Yea, but now it's not only Pike. Now there's I
- 17:58Speaker 6: guess there's Walleye Water up in there, and then uh
- 18:02Speaker 6: small Mouth probably yeah, in Small Mountain.
- 18:08Speaker 3: Someone's doing the Lord's work down there.
- 18:11Speaker 6: I'm like, the global war.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 18:19Speaker 1: We have Seth saying buzz bait, Chester saying buzz bait,
- 18:23Speaker 1: Chili saying swiveloore, Randalls saying buzz bait, tailing without an answer,
- 18:29Speaker 1: Yanni and Brody saying buzz bait. They got it. The
- 18:32Speaker 1: correct answer is buzz bait. Buzz Baits first hit the
- 18:36Speaker 1: market in nineteen seventy six. Rick Klon brought early fame
- 18:40Speaker 1: to the lure when he modified a spinner bait and
- 18:43Speaker 1: ran it just under the surface of the water to
- 18:45Speaker 1: win the nineteen seventy six and nineteen seventy seven Bass
- 18:48Speaker 1: Master Classics. Buzz Baits use a combination of sound, vibration,
- 18:53Speaker 1: and flash to get a bass's attention. Question five, the
- 18:57Speaker 1: topic is conservation. Name five of the nine states that
- 19:02Speaker 1: have more cattle than people? There are nine of them.
- 19:08Speaker 1: You need to name five. Name five of the nine
- 19:12Speaker 1: states that have more cattle than people? Randall, how'll we
- 19:23Speaker 1: doing over there?
- 19:24Speaker 4: I think I'm doing I think I'm doing all right.
- 19:27Speaker 1: You think you could get nine of them if you
- 19:28Speaker 1: had to?
- 19:30Speaker 4: No, I mean I could take a swing at it,
- 19:32Speaker 4: but I think that would be tough.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Name five of the nine states that have more cattle
- 19:38Speaker 1: than people. Brody seems as though he's torn between a few.
- 19:49Speaker 1: Five of the nine states. Mmmm. Seth with the quickest
- 19:59Speaker 1: one to come up with an answer, Seth, how do
- 20:01Speaker 1: you feel about your five states?
- 20:04Speaker 3: You know I got three of them.
- 20:06Speaker 1: I know that was it harder to come up with five? Like,
- 20:09Speaker 1: did you feel like you had too many or not enough?
- 20:12Speaker 4: No?
- 20:13Speaker 3: I feel like you had too many, too many?
- 20:14Speaker 4: Okay, I'm really second guessing myself.
- 20:19Speaker 1: Five of the nine states that have more cattle than people.
- 20:24Speaker 3: Was throwing me off.
- 20:25Speaker 10: There's a couple states I thought would have more, but
- 20:29Speaker 10: they also have like pretty big cities.
- 20:31Speaker 1: Okay. I was expecting some pushback from Brody, And how
- 20:35Speaker 1: was this conservation?
- 20:37Speaker 8: Oh, I I've kind of given up.
- 20:41Speaker 4: Okay, Well, I guess there's there's some states I can think.
- 20:45Speaker 4: I don't know. This might be too much of a clue.
- 20:47Speaker 5: Yeah, I don't say it.
- 20:48Speaker 3: Okay, it is.
- 20:51Speaker 1: I would guess I know what you're gonna say as well. Again,
- 20:54Speaker 1: we're looking five of the nine states? Chester, how do
- 20:59Speaker 1: you feel about Chili answers? You agree?
- 21:04Speaker 7: Why you should put five down that seven?
- 21:07Speaker 1: If you get one of them, you're gonna get it wrong.
- 21:10Speaker 8: If you go at the five, you're most sure.
- 21:13Speaker 6: Make sure that letter in the bottom left one is
- 21:15Speaker 6: real clear.
- 21:16Speaker 1: Also, we've had an issue in the past with people
- 21:20Speaker 1: doing abbreviations that they then got wrong. So so you
- 21:24Speaker 1: should maybe write out the entire state. I think we
- 21:26Speaker 1: had cal who thought he was answering Missouri but did
- 21:31Speaker 1: Mississippi instead. That's tough, maybe right out the whole name.
- 21:39Speaker 1: What's the tough part, Brody.
- 21:41Speaker 8: I mean tough ship for him wrong doesn't know the abbreviations?
- 21:46Speaker 1: Is everybody ready?
- 21:49Speaker 4: Nine states?
- 21:50Speaker 10: Five?
- 21:50Speaker 4: That's more than nine?
- 21:53Speaker 1: Oh, seth? Going back, everyone has five answer.
- 21:55Speaker 6: There's gonna be a couple of surprisers.
- 21:57Speaker 3: I bet Oh, I think, oh, you know what.
- 21:59Speaker 1: I You're right, Brody, this is your last chance to change.
- 22:03Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have set saying Montana, Wyoming, Kansas, Nebraska,
- 22:11Speaker 1: North Dakota, Chester saying Wyoming, South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Nebraska,
- 22:18Speaker 1: Chile saying South Dakota, North Dakota, Montana, Wyoming, Utah, Randalls
- 22:25Speaker 1: sang Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, South Dakota, Nebraska, Taylan saying Montana, Wyoming, Nebraska,
- 22:34Speaker 1: North Dakota, South Dakota, Yanni saying Montana, Wyoming, North Dakota, Nebraska,
- 22:41Speaker 1: South Dakota, Brody saying North Dakota, Wyoming, Montana, Kansas, South Dakota.
- 22:49Speaker 1: The nine states are Idaho, Iowa, Kansas, Montana, Nebraska, North Dakota, Oklahoma,
- 22:57Speaker 1: South Dakota, and Wyoming. I think everybody but Chili had
- 23:02Speaker 1: that one right rooms.
- 23:07Speaker 3: Vermont.
- 23:11Speaker 10: I know.
- 23:12Speaker 1: According to the USDA, South Dakota has the most lopsided
- 23:16Speaker 1: ratio of cattle two people in the country. They say
- 23:19Speaker 1: there are three point five million head of cattle compared
- 23:22Speaker 1: to nine hundred thousand people, meaning there are four cattle
- 23:26Speaker 1: per person in the state. On the other end of
- 23:28Speaker 1: the spectrum is New Jersey, who has about fifty thousand
- 23:32Speaker 1: cattle compared to nine million people, meaning there are one
- 23:35Speaker 1: hundred and eighty people per cow in the state.
- 23:38Speaker 6: Where did Florida fall?
- 23:40Speaker 1: I don't know. I only saw the top of the
- 23:42Speaker 1: list in the very bottom, but it must have been
- 23:44Speaker 1: somewhere in between. You got to think about all the
- 23:45Speaker 1: cities they have there. Feetlando, Jacksonville, Iowa.
- 23:50Speaker 4: Was initially on my list, and then I was like,
- 23:52Speaker 4: how do you count? I don't have the exhaustive knowledge
- 23:56Speaker 4: of the cattle industry, but a lot of cattle are
- 23:57Speaker 4: moving in and out right, So I don't know.
- 24:00Speaker 1: Phil. We are halfway through the game of trivia. Give
- 24:03Speaker 1: us a scoreboard.
- 24:04Speaker 6: Do you want to entertain your discussion?
- 24:06Speaker 3: No?
- 24:06Speaker 4: Nobody thought that was a good Well.
- 24:08Speaker 7: I don't have an answer for you, Randall, But I
- 24:11Speaker 7: was up there, Randall, I took I took note.
- 24:14Speaker 3: Good thought, but no one cares.
- 24:16Speaker 6: Everybody is on the board.
- 24:18Speaker 3: Who got chili? With one point?
- 24:20Speaker 9: Taylor and Chester have two points apiece, Seth and Giannis
- 24:23Speaker 9: have three and tied up in first place. They both
- 24:26Speaker 9: have a perfect game. Are Brody and Randall.
- 24:30Speaker 3: What's new?
- 24:32Speaker 6: They have five phil Yes.
- 24:34Speaker 4: Thinking more about feed lots.
- 24:35Speaker 11: I question six.
- 24:49Speaker 1: The topic is woodsmanship. This is considered the sister publication
- 24:55Speaker 1: of Field and Stream.
- 24:59Speaker 5: Come on, Spencer, this.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Is considered the sister publication of Field and Stream. We
- 25:05Speaker 1: have a very confident room. This may be a one
- 25:08Speaker 1: hundred percenter. I feel like maybe your confidence. Brodie is
- 25:12Speaker 1: going to give Yanni a hint. Who seemed unsure of
- 25:15Speaker 1: his answer.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Whatever, he just made me think I got all kinds of.
- 25:19Speaker 8: Problems with this question.
- 25:20Speaker 1: Okay, would you like to talk about him?
- 25:23Speaker 5: An hour later later?
- 25:24Speaker 1: Okay, Seth, you didn't like Chester's answer?
- 25:28Speaker 10: Well, Chester's answer just made me think real hard, Okay,
- 25:31Speaker 10: because I thought I thought I knew it, and then
- 25:36Speaker 10: Chester wrote down an answer and I just have him
- 25:38Speaker 10: to look over there, cheating.
- 25:40Speaker 4: The passive voice in this is just killing the Spencer.
- 25:43Speaker 4: I thought maybe this would be like, according to so
- 25:45Speaker 4: and so, just this is considered very.
- 25:50Speaker 1: Do you think it's too matter of fact?
- 25:52Speaker 4: Well, I just you know.
- 25:55Speaker 3: This is fast food?
- 26:00Speaker 10: Exactly?
- 26:00Speaker 6: Does sister magazine mean like they have the same parents.
- 26:03Speaker 1: Never said magazine.
- 26:05Speaker 8: It would mean like sister Hunter, Stephen Ranella, someone that's
- 26:10Speaker 8: closely associated with you?
- 26:14Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer?
- 26:16Speaker 3: Now?
- 26:16Speaker 1: We had said, tell Chester that his answer made him
- 26:19Speaker 1: rethink his answer, which made Chester change his answer, and
- 26:23Speaker 1: then Seth said, now you're making me think even harder.
- 26:25Speaker 8: So is this our first case of like documented cheating?
- 26:29Speaker 2: Though?
- 26:30Speaker 10: Well, I chat, I wrote down an answer previously looking
- 26:33Speaker 10: at chats, and I'm not changing it.
- 26:35Speaker 7: You notice I haven't really said anything.
- 26:38Speaker 1: Is everybody ready? Go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 26:42Speaker 1: have Seth saying outdoor life, Chest You're saying guns and
- 26:45Speaker 1: Ammo Chili saying outdoor life, Randall saying outdoor life, Taylor
- 26:49Speaker 1: without an answer, Yanni, and Brody saying outdoor life. The
- 26:53Speaker 1: correct answer is outdoor life now if you'll go to
- 26:56Speaker 1: Field and Streams website. Brody, I was looking at one
- 27:00Speaker 1: of their editors bios and it said so and so
- 27:03Speaker 1: used to work for our sister publication, Outdoor No.
- 27:06Speaker 5: I don't have a like.
- 27:07Speaker 3: I agree it like.
- 27:08Speaker 8: I don't know problem with the sister publication. Okay, I
- 27:11Speaker 8: just think it's way too easy.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Way too easy. We had two people in here, and
- 27:14Speaker 1: are it wrong?
- 27:15Speaker 3: Though?
- 27:15Speaker 5: Did they actually even publish these things anymore?
- 27:17Speaker 1: Outdoor Life publish their first magazine in eighteen ninety eight.
- 27:22Speaker 1: Some of its most famous contributors include Teddy Roosevelt, Amelia Earhart,
- 27:26Speaker 1: and Babe Ruth. In twenty eighteen, the magazine announced they'd
- 27:30Speaker 1: go from doing nine issues a year to four, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: in twenty twenty one they announced they'd cease printing the
- 27:35Speaker 1: magazine and would go fully digital. So there you go, Brody.
- 27:39Speaker 7: My first one I wrote down was for fishing game.
- 27:43Speaker 1: Sorry, Chester, that's wrong.
- 27:45Speaker 4: What would have been the third answer on your list?
- 27:48Speaker 7: Probably Outdoor Life Sports Reveal Question seven.
- 27:52Speaker 1: The topic is public lands. This next great question comes
- 27:56Speaker 1: to us via Joe skag leone. The Great Blank Desert
- 28:01Speaker 1: is a region that's mostly made up of Nevada and
- 28:04Speaker 1: Utah where water doesn't drain into any ocean. Seems as
- 28:09Speaker 1: though Brody and Randall will keep the perfect game going.
- 28:13Speaker 1: The Great Blank.
- 28:15Speaker 4: Desert is an easy question.
- 28:16Speaker 1: Is a region that's mostly made up of Nevada and
- 28:19Speaker 1: Utah where water doesn't drain into any ocean. Brody and
- 28:24Speaker 1: Randall are the only ones to come up with an
- 28:26Speaker 1: answer thus far. Yoanni, how you're feeling about your thought
- 28:33Speaker 1: process over there? You have you narrowed it? Down to anything.
- 28:36Speaker 6: No, No, I'm just waiting for that word pop into
- 28:39Speaker 6: my head.
- 28:39Speaker 4: Okay, Now do my eyes deceive me?
- 28:44Speaker 1: Or are the number of spaces? It's always five spaces
- 28:47Speaker 1: a single time. It doesn't matter if it's ten letter word,
- 28:50Speaker 1: a three letter word, or.
- 28:51Speaker 4: Oh I'm glad I learned that on this question. Otherwise
- 28:54Speaker 4: grow before, I just haven't been paying attention to what
- 28:57Speaker 4: other people are saying.
- 28:58Speaker 1: Always going to be five of space is dedicated to
- 29:01Speaker 1: the blank.
- 29:02Speaker 4: I would have thought I was really onto something if
- 29:04Speaker 4: this has popped up on a on a different question.
- 29:06Speaker 1: The Great Blank Desert is a region that's mostly made
- 29:09Speaker 1: up of Nevada and Utah where water doesn't drain into
- 29:13Speaker 1: any ocean. Chester, Do you have an answer?
- 29:16Speaker 7: I do?
- 29:17Speaker 1: How do you feel about your answer?
- 29:18Speaker 7: Not good?
- 29:19Speaker 1: Okay, Brody and Randall, I'm not are our only folks.
- 29:24Speaker 8: I'm like, I'm going with what popped into my head.
- 29:30Speaker 8: There's something else that is confusing me.
- 29:33Speaker 4: If I get this wrong, I'll probably argue it.
- 29:38Speaker 6: Okay, good to know.
- 29:42Speaker 5: I might argue with him.
- 29:44Speaker 1: Okay, does everybody get it wrong?
- 29:46Speaker 4: You're getting it wrong?
- 29:49Speaker 1: Does everybody have an answer? Go ahead and reveal your answers.
- 29:56Speaker 1: We have Seth saying my eb Chester is saying Salt
- 29:59Speaker 1: Lake Chile without an answer, Randall saying basin, Taalin saying basin,
- 30:05Speaker 1: Jiannis saying basin, Brody saying basin. The correct answer is basin.
- 30:12Speaker 1: The room did pretty well. Where's burning?
- 30:14Speaker 7: Man?
- 30:15Speaker 11: Is that?
- 30:17Speaker 1: What is the Great Black Rock? Something like that?
- 30:21Speaker 4: I don't know. California, Nevada.
- 30:23Speaker 1: The Great Basin Desert is the coldest of North America's
- 30:27Speaker 1: four major deserts. Besides Nevada and Utah. It extends into
- 30:31Speaker 1: portions of Oregon, Idaho, and California. All of the precipitation
- 30:35Speaker 1: that falls there either drains into saline lakes is absorbed
- 30:39Speaker 1: into the soil where disappears via evaporation. It's estimated that
- 30:43Speaker 1: eighty percent of the region is public land.
- 30:48Speaker 8: The Red Desert, Great Divide Basin Did you were You're
- 30:53Speaker 8: worried that.
- 30:54Speaker 1: Might confuse No?
- 30:55Speaker 4: I wasn't.
- 30:55Speaker 1: Because does the Red Desert go into Nevada.
- 30:58Speaker 8: No, I'm saying it's a different place. But the Great
- 31:01Speaker 8: Divide base and is where the Continental divide, and water
- 31:06Speaker 8: doesn't go anywhere in there.
- 31:07Speaker 1: Okay, Well, maybe if I had two blanks and I
- 31:10Speaker 1: left you the opportunity to.
- 31:12Speaker 5: I just wondering.
- 31:13Speaker 1: I was not worried about that. Brody question Question eight.
- 31:17Speaker 1: The topic is fishing. What Nordic country is the headquarters
- 31:22Speaker 1: of Rapaula? Confident? Randall again, and Brody and Seth, Chester
- 31:30Speaker 1: and Chile. What Nordic country is the headquarters of Rapaula?
- 31:37Speaker 6: I should know this too? Why should you know this
- 31:41Speaker 6: my ancestors?
- 31:42Speaker 1: And yeah, you hear it all sorts of different ways.
- 31:47Speaker 3: Yeah, I think it's technically.
- 31:51Speaker 1: What Nordic country is the headquarters of Rappela?
- 31:56Speaker 5: Chili?
- 31:57Speaker 1: You know this one?
- 31:58Speaker 7: Umm?
- 31:59Speaker 1: No, you know some Nordic country?
- 32:01Speaker 3: I do? I have Norwegian?
- 32:06Speaker 1: What Nordic country is?
- 32:08Speaker 8: Boys make good lures, Rappela.
- 32:11Speaker 3: Jiggery, just.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Second guessing myself.
- 32:18Speaker 1: It's everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 32:22Speaker 1: have Seth saying Sweeten, Oh, Chester saying Canada, Chile saying Sweden,
- 32:29Speaker 1: Randall saying Finland, Tayland saying Switzerland, Yanni saying Sweden, Brody
- 32:35Speaker 1: saying Finland. The correct answer is Finland. The perfect game continues.
- 32:43Speaker 1: Rappaela was founded by a man in Finland who worked
- 32:46Speaker 1: as a lumberjack in the winter and fisherman. In the summer,
- 32:49Speaker 1: his wife was in charge of the bait, which she
- 32:52Speaker 1: gathered from a nearby forest. On a typical day, she'd
- 32:55Speaker 1: walk twenty miles just hauling minnows, which became unsustainable as
- 32:59Speaker 1: their family grew. That's when her husband created his first lure,
- 33:03Speaker 1: which was made of cork and covered in candy bar wrappers.
- 33:06Speaker 1: For more on these For more on this story, read
- 33:09Speaker 1: Kooby Brown's article on the medeater dot com called the
- 33:12Speaker 1: lure that changed fishing.

- 33:19Speaker 8: Finlander from rappol Oh. Wow, it's a little one that's
- 33:22Speaker 8: a power like ten Bucks does it?
- 33:24Speaker 6: Sometimes you can get the combo right where oh it
- 33:27Speaker 6: has a little the plastic sheep has a little side
- 33:30Speaker 6: compartment where that little knife.
- 33:31Speaker 7: Is super soft steals. It can just sharpen it.
- 33:34Speaker 8: So we Yeah, it's like, I don't know, ten Bucks
- 33:37Speaker 8: something like that.
- 33:37Speaker 3: That's great knife, Phil.
- 33:38Speaker 1: We have two questions left. Who is left in the game.
- 33:43Speaker 9: Uh, it's down to Brody and Randall. They've got a
- 33:45Speaker 9: perfect game with eight points. Chester, Chilliannis, Seth and Taylor
- 33:50Speaker 9: cannot make up the distance.
- 33:51Speaker 7: Spencer, I've got a proposal for you. Huh, you think
- 33:55Speaker 7: like we can kind of team up on these guys.
- 33:59Speaker 1: Ever, I don't think.
- 34:00Speaker 7: So, why not?
- 34:01Speaker 1: But what I will do for you, Chester is someday
- 34:04Speaker 1: we're going to do a game in here where it's
- 34:05Speaker 1: only people who have never won, so we're gonna have.
- 34:10Speaker 2: You.
- 34:10Speaker 1: Will still invite you. You won the Billings Live Show.
- 34:13Speaker 1: It was a four question game of trivia that was
- 34:16Speaker 1: specific to Montana. Chester took the victory there.
- 34:19Speaker 6: Yeah, it doesn't count Chester.
- 34:21Speaker 1: When we do that game, Chester, we'll give you a CV.
- 34:25Speaker 4: I want to play with chat GPT.
- 34:27Speaker 1: You want to play against it?
- 34:28Speaker 4: Yeah, I think that's the inverse.
- 34:29Speaker 1: I think okay, I think we should just have a
- 34:31Speaker 1: chat GPT round Question nine. The topic is hunting. This
- 34:37Speaker 1: man owns a Colorado outfitting business, hosts easton bow Hunting
- 34:42Speaker 1: TV and was the first person to complete the North
- 34:45Speaker 1: American Super Slam with a recurve. Brody knows the answer.
- 34:51Speaker 1: Randall is slow to come up with anything. This could
- 34:55Speaker 1: separate them. No, no, no, I wants This man owns
- 35:00Speaker 1: a Colorado outfitting business, hosts Easton bow Hunting TV and
- 35:05Speaker 1: was the first person to complete the North American Super

- 35:22Speaker 1: kay Chester is gonna get this one right. Randall, what
- 35:24Speaker 1: do you got?

- 35:39Speaker 4: been killed.
- 35:39Speaker 1: Okay, tell us his name though, Randall, that's what you
- 35:43Speaker 1: need to do. We could we take a pause on this.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Man owns a Colorado outfitting business, hosts Easton bow Hunting TV,
- 35:52Speaker 1: and was the first person to complete the North American
- 35:55Speaker 1: Super Slam with a recurve. Brody, do think Randall actually

- 37:17Speaker 1: Randall zipped his coat and he wiped away some sweat
- 37:20Speaker 1: from his forehead.
- 37:22Speaker 9: You gotta pull in some of that that Yannis energy.
- 37:24Speaker 9: And because you wait four and a half minutes and then.
- 37:31Speaker 1: Question nine to be in here when you read the answer,
- 37:34Speaker 1: we're running out of time.
- 37:36Speaker 3: Randall.
- 37:36Speaker 6: Oh, I like to know that he's fallible. You know,
- 37:42Speaker 6: I actually rana or this hunter Randall. Actually, I don't
- 37:46Speaker 6: know if I woke up thinking about it. But at
- 37:48Speaker 6: some point last twenty four hours and I knew I
- 37:50Speaker 6: was coming to this show and Randall was going to
- 37:52Speaker 6: be playing. I was thinking what an advantage his dissertation was.
- 37:58Speaker 6: I mean, imagine he literally thousands of articles from like
- 38:03Speaker 6: five decades not about this guy.
- 38:07Speaker 10: Oh even just like the even like the work he's
- 38:11Speaker 10: been doing with the meat eater history.
- 38:15Speaker 1: This is enough, Randall. We're almost out of time.
- 38:19Speaker 5: He is almost We've been out of time for five minutes.
- 38:23Speaker 6: You'll play the buzzer sound.
- 38:25Speaker 1: Go ahead and reveal your answers. We have seth without
- 38:27Speaker 1: an answer, Chester saying fred Eichler, Chili saying fred Behar,
- 38:32Speaker 1: Randall without an answer, tailing without an answer. Yanni sang Eichler.
- 38:37Speaker 1: Brody sang fred Eichler. He got it. The correct answer
- 38:41Speaker 1: is fred Eichler, Randall. Is that the answer you were
- 38:43Speaker 1: searching for? It is Eichler. Some of the best hunting
- 38:50Speaker 1: commercials of all time. When Easton declared him the most
- 38:53Speaker 1: interesting bow hunter in the world, play the clips Phil.
- 39:03Speaker 12: The State of Colorado had a season dedicated just for him,
- 39:09Speaker 12: elk gather to watch him rut. He coined the phrase
- 39:14Speaker 12: tastes like chicken. He is the most interesting bow hunter
- 39:19Speaker 12: in the world.
- 39:22Speaker 10: I don't bow hunt every day, but when I do,
- 39:25Speaker 10: I choose Easternaros.
- 39:27Speaker 6: Shoot Straight my friends.
- 39:30Speaker 5: Really best hunting commercial.
- 39:34Speaker 1: No, he had like a series like bottle que Walked.
- 39:38Speaker 12: He's the life of hunting camps. He's never even visited.
- 39:42Speaker 12: When Jimmy falls in the woods, he can hear it.
- 39:46Speaker 12: He is the most interesting bow hunter.
- 39:50Speaker 3: That one right there. Yeah, I don't bow hunt every day.
- 39:54Speaker 1: Commercials make you feel better.
- 39:57Speaker 3: You know, shoots straight friends.
- 40:00Speaker 4: I'm indifferent to the commercial CA I mean it's it's fun.
- 40:03Speaker 4: I hadn't seen that one, so adds a bit of
- 40:06Speaker 4: levity to the moment. But uh I, twenty twenty four
- 40:12Speaker 4: is over.
- 40:13Speaker 1: Okay.
- 40:15Speaker 8: You know what I like by that dude. He seems
- 40:17Speaker 8: to have fun, seems to enjoy himself.
- 40:19Speaker 6: Jesse was your counter.
- 40:23Speaker 7: I'm pretty sure I just met him at I think
- 40:24Speaker 7: it was the ATA show, which is the Archery Trade
- 40:27Speaker 7: Association show, when I was building recurved bows, and he
- 40:31Speaker 7: just kind of had some interest in the bows we built.
- 40:36Speaker 1: We're onto question ten. We have Randall with one wrong answer,
- 40:41Speaker 1: Brody with the perfect game. We would need Brody to
- 40:43Speaker 1: get this wrong, Randall to get this right, to go
- 40:46Speaker 1: to overtime. The topic is cooking. This last great question
- 40:50Speaker 1: comes to his via my wife, Shelby Huber. According to
- 40:55Speaker 1: Taste of Home, asking for medium rare blank is how
- 40:59Speaker 1: you order steak that's between medium rare and medium. Brody
- 41:06Speaker 1: slow to come up with an answer. According to Taste
- 41:10Speaker 1: of Home, asking for medium rare blank is how you
- 41:14Speaker 1: order a steak that's between medium rare and medium Taylor,
- 41:19Speaker 1: did you come up with an answer? Do you think
- 41:21Speaker 1: you know this one?
- 41:22Speaker 4: Yes?
- 41:23Speaker 1: Okay, Taylor has it right. Seth is joining her with
- 41:26Speaker 1: an answer. Brody and Randall have yet to write anything down.
- 41:32Speaker 2: Well, I worked in restaurants up until this point. Oh,
- 41:37Speaker 2: namely Riverside Country Club and uh, downtown Bozeman. That's the
- 41:42Speaker 2: steakhouses around the state, so.
- 41:44Speaker 1: Don't give any hints. But had you heard someone order
- 41:46Speaker 1: a steak like this before?
- 41:48Speaker 2: Yes? Okay, this is about the one thing that'll get
- 41:51Speaker 2: a plate thrown at.
- 41:52Speaker 9: You, and okay, don't do this.
- 41:56Speaker 1: According to Taste of Home, asking for medium rare blank
- 42:00Speaker 1: is how you order a steak that's between medium rare
- 42:03Speaker 1: and medium Randal, how do you feel about your answer.
- 42:08Speaker 3: I feel.
- 42:11Speaker 4: I feel fine. Okay, again, we feel fine.
- 42:14Speaker 1: We need Brody to get this wrong and Randall to
- 42:16Speaker 1: get this right to go to overtime, or Brody could
- 42:19Speaker 1: just get it wrong and have the second perfect Game
- 42:21Speaker 1: of twenty twenty four.
- 42:24Speaker 5: I didn't even know this was a thing that exists.
- 42:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I never even heard of phil.
- 42:28Speaker 1: Had you heard of this?
- 42:29Speaker 3: Never? Okay, I've waited tables for.
- 42:31Speaker 4: A while too. I would have assumed it was just
- 42:35Speaker 4: sort of like a medium rare e like a noise
- 42:38Speaker 4: and a hand.
- 42:39Speaker 3: The answer medium rare and a little more.
- 42:42Speaker 1: Yeah, seth Oh you ever heard of this?
- 42:46Speaker 2: Or no?
- 42:46Speaker 3: I made something up?
- 42:48Speaker 1: Okay, yeah, Randall changing his answer according to Taste of Home.
- 42:53Speaker 1: Asking for medium rare blank is how you order a
- 42:56Speaker 1: steak that's between medium rare and medium?
- 43:00Speaker 4: Can I?
- 43:00Speaker 3: Can? I? I have a question?
- 43:02Speaker 13: Do you think in the future there could be the
- 43:06Speaker 13: hash marks for like the film for the fill in
- 43:08Speaker 13: the blank questions? There can be enough spaces why not?
- 43:13Speaker 1: I don't want to give you that hint. When I
- 43:15Speaker 1: want to give you that hint, I'll tell you, like
- 43:16Speaker 1: this nine letter true. If I feel like the question
- 43:20Speaker 1: is too hard, that's a little bit extra that I'll
- 43:23Speaker 1: give you.
- 43:23Speaker 5: I think I think this question.
- 43:25Speaker 1: Is too hard. We could use a little Okay, Brody
- 43:29Speaker 1: wants this perfect game. Taylin may be the only person
- 43:33Speaker 1: who gets this.
- 43:33Speaker 9: One at Spencer when it's too easy.
- 43:36Speaker 10: One thing about that SaaS press questions, like the most
- 43:39Speaker 10: common thing that you saspress.
- 43:41Speaker 1: Four is like, t you talked about that event factoid.
- 43:46Speaker 3: I know, but if you would have put it in
- 43:47Speaker 3: the question didn't make sense.
- 43:50Speaker 1: We had four or seven people get it right, which
- 43:53Speaker 1: I feel good about that.
- 43:54Speaker 4: Rutier seth geez.
- 43:58Speaker 1: Is everybody ready, go ahead and reveal your answers. We
- 44:03Speaker 1: have saying medium, rare, well Chester, you're saying well done,
- 44:08Speaker 1: Chili saying well done. Randall sang medium, Taylan sang plus,
- 44:14Speaker 1: Yanni sang medium, Brody saying well, Taylan got it the
- 44:19Speaker 1: correct answer. She was the only one.
- 44:23Speaker 6: To get it.
- 44:23Speaker 4: That was my first guess, just being a smartass.
- 44:26Speaker 6: Ye, And then what happened.
- 44:28Speaker 4: I just thought, I don't know, would you realize I
- 44:31Speaker 4: imagine someone sitting in a restaurant saying the word plus,
- 44:33Speaker 4: uh huh, and it just sounded like so unsophisticated.
- 44:36Speaker 1: Medium rare tamp is considered one thirty to one thirty five,
- 44:40Speaker 1: while medium is one forty one forty five. So medium
- 44:43Speaker 1: rare plus is aiming for one thirty five to one forty.
- 44:46Speaker 1: But according to an article in the Restaurant Manifesto, most
- 44:50Speaker 1: kitchens will be annoyed if you order a steak to
- 44:53Speaker 1: that level of specificity. They say it's a designation that
- 44:57Speaker 1: should be only used in select steakhouses and not your
- 45:00Speaker 1: local diner or Texas roadhouse. Taylor tell us about what
- 45:04Speaker 1: would happen when someone would order a medium rare plus.
- 45:06Speaker 2: Well, in my experience, it's been a stern conversation of
- 45:11Speaker 2: tell them we don't.
- 45:12Speaker 1: With the customer, we don't do that.
- 45:13Speaker 2: No, no, no, go back into the kitchen. Oh say so,
- 45:16Speaker 2: and so they want mediumware plus And then you kind
- 45:19Speaker 2: of stand there like and wait for them to respond
- 45:21Speaker 2: like absolutely.
- 45:22Speaker 3: Not, okay, absolutely not.
- 45:24Speaker 1: So do you do you tell the customer that they
- 45:25Speaker 1: don't get medium ware plus or you just give it
- 45:27Speaker 1: to him. You're like, here, it is mediumware plus.
- 45:29Speaker 4: We did it just for you.
- 45:32Speaker 2: Kind of glaze over it unless they raise raise an eyebrow.
- 45:36Speaker 1: There you go, well done, Brody nine correct answers couldn't
- 45:39Speaker 1: come up with medium rare plus. What happens next is
- 45:44Speaker 1: Brody gets to choose where the five hundred dollars from
- 45:47Speaker 1: Meat Eater goes. Brody, what's it gonna be? Uh?
- 45:49Speaker 8: Coloradam's for responsible wildlife management?
- 45:52Speaker 1: What are the guys going on over there right now?
- 45:54Speaker 8: They've got a battle going on over the people that
- 45:56Speaker 8: are trying to attack various forms of hunting, so they
- 46:00Speaker 8: need all the help they.
- 46:01Speaker 1: Can get five hundred dollars going their way. Well done, Brody.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Randall should have stuck with your joke answer of medium
- 46:07Speaker 1: rare plaus and we'd be doing overtimer.
- 46:09Speaker 4: But you know, had I gotten that last question right,
- 46:13Speaker 4: then I would have been mad about question nine and
- 46:15Speaker 4: because it would have cost me my perfect game. But
- 46:18Speaker 4: now the fred Eichler question didn't cost me my perfect game.
- 46:21Speaker 4: I wouldn't have gotten it anyway, So I feel great.
- 46:23Speaker 4: Brodie didn't get a perfect game. I'm back on an
- 46:26Speaker 4: even keel. Let's play another round.
- 46:27Speaker 1: Good for you, Randall, join us next time for more
