- 0:46Speaker 1: sir by the way man EP very vibe. Thank you,
- 0:51Speaker 1: it's a jazz instrumental. Yes, it's a vibe. Man. What
- 0:55Speaker 1: made you like obviously people know you coming from the
- 0:58Speaker 1: afrobeat world. What made you kind of pivot and uh
- 1:03Speaker 1: do a jazz ep and and E execcuted it so well. Man,
- 1:08Speaker 1: it looks like a pivot.
- 1:09Speaker 2: It's not a pivot. It's a little left tones that
- 1:15Speaker 2: listen to afrobeats. This call knows that jazz is the
- 1:18Speaker 2: foundation of aphrobeats and likewise many all the music too.
- 1:22Speaker 1: For sure, for sure, a lot of it all starts
- 1:24Speaker 1: with jazz and blues for sure.
- 1:25Speaker 2: Exactly.
- 1:25Speaker 1: So Yeah, for you, like was it was it like
- 1:28Speaker 1: you know, you just kind of felt like I needed
- 1:29Speaker 1: to kind of switch up, like you got you got
- 1:32Speaker 1: so much music for people to dance too. This is
- 1:35Speaker 1: I feel like this is like a you know, throw
- 1:37Speaker 1: it Onking.
- 1:40Speaker 2: It wasn't.
- 1:41Speaker 1: It wasn't.
- 1:41Speaker 2: It wasn't a strategy thing. It was more less of
- 1:45Speaker 2: sharing Wilson to drive. You know, we've been making a
- 1:48Speaker 2: lot of sounds like this for a minute, we just
- 1:50Speaker 2: never share them. And that's the first time we decided
- 1:53Speaker 2: to put a couple out.
- 1:55Speaker 1: Yeah, it's like, why not share this with the world.
- 1:57Speaker 1: So much music sits on hard drives. We never get
- 1:59Speaker 1: to hear facts facts.
- 2:01Speaker 2: I also think everything shouldn't be released, you know this
- 2:04Speaker 2: is true. Yeah, I don't think we should put out
- 2:07Speaker 2: everything we make. But when he eats. He eats, and
- 2:10Speaker 2: when you feel something, it's what's sharing.
- 2:16Speaker 1: You are. You've been in LA for a few days.
- 2:20Speaker 2: Yeah, a week close now.
- 2:22Speaker 1: Someone had shared with me that you were in the
- 2:24Speaker 1: room with some big hitters playing music. Yes, special day,
- 2:29Speaker 1: special day for you. I don't want to say everybody
- 2:33Speaker 1: was in there, but doctor Dre was in there. Yeah,
- 2:35Speaker 1: you're playing music for Doctor Dre and his reactions are crazy.
- 2:39Speaker 1: What's what's that feel like?
- 2:44Speaker 2: Incredible? That feels great. It's not the first time, but
- 2:48Speaker 2: every time it feels like the first time.
- 2:50Speaker 1: It's not the first time. You were able to make
- 2:52Speaker 1: up with Dre.
- 2:53Speaker 2: No, No, we walked together first on a song released
- 2:57Speaker 2: by Flippers. Did I forget him on my song?
- 3:03Speaker 1: It happens You have a lot of ye.
- 3:04Speaker 2: In two thousand and three, we did a song with
- 3:06Speaker 2: the Snake Flippers and Ayanna and Jimmy Ivan and Liberty
- 3:12Speaker 2: Rose facilitated that. It was a song that the Snake
- 3:16Speaker 2: was working on at the moment, and they sent it
- 3:17Speaker 2: to me and Legos and I had some energy to
- 3:20Speaker 2: it and it was a special time. That was the
- 3:22Speaker 2: first time he makes the master of the record, and
- 3:25Speaker 2: that was the first time I met him say.
- 3:26Speaker 1: He's super I heard he's so particular about the mixing.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yes, yes, uh, doctor, don't you know I think everybody knows.
- 3:36Speaker 1: Have you like been in his studio with the big speakers.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Yes, we made we made a few records, and if
- 3:44Speaker 2: we start talking about doctor Dre, I don't think we ever.
- 3:47Speaker 2: He The thing that I've learned from working on him closely,
- 3:52Speaker 2: it's about discipline. I think that at a level like that,
- 3:57Speaker 2: and he wakes up very early. It's like even things
- 4:01Speaker 2: outside of studio that I'm talking about, like, yeah, real, real,
- 4:06Speaker 2: real ones.
- 4:08Speaker 1: Do you feel like because I feel like afrobeats as
- 4:10Speaker 1: a genre has kind of turned into like such a
- 4:12Speaker 1: global like kind of like the globe sound like wherever
- 4:15Speaker 1: country you might be in, whether it's here. Yeah, I
- 4:18Speaker 1: was in Thailand and it was cracking. Obviously the UK
- 4:22Speaker 1: it is so big. What is it about you think
- 4:26Speaker 1: like the genre that because the US we've like grabbed
- 4:31Speaker 1: onto it. But I feel like we're still like you know,
- 4:34Speaker 1: I feel like like burna boy will come and he'll
- 4:36Speaker 1: do like arenas, but I still feel like we're like
- 4:39Speaker 1: behind a little for we're's still a little behind from
- 4:41Speaker 1: the rest of the world.
- 4:44Speaker 2: I think it's exciting. What is happening with our genre
- 4:49Speaker 2: is exciting, but also it's it's evolving also, And like
- 4:55Speaker 2: you said, you know Bana Asbinia, a lot of all
- 4:59Speaker 2: my guys from times before now I've also been here,
- 5:02Speaker 2: like Sonya Day, all of the legends, they've all been here.
- 5:06Speaker 2: And I think that it gets better, you know. So
- 5:11Speaker 2: I think music also itself travels itself, and you graphic
- 5:16Speaker 2: it to some other songs that I know, even from Nigeria,
- 5:18Speaker 2: They're from somewhereally different, right, and I think that is
- 5:21Speaker 2: what is spreading. I think Americans love music, Nigerians, Africans
- 5:26Speaker 2: and people all over the world. People love music, you know,
- 5:29Speaker 2: and I think we should. We should release as much
- 5:33Speaker 2: your stuff as we can.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I was gonna say for you man, you have such
- 5:36Speaker 1: a like vast catalog and music. Yeah, who do you
- 5:41Speaker 1: look for for inspiration as a producer, as a curator?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Like who kind of like inspired you.
- 5:49Speaker 2: Ellie Huon when I started or right now?
- 5:51Speaker 1: It's just like I guess both, like because I feel
- 5:53Speaker 1: like you kind of need inspiration to keep going, to
- 5:55Speaker 1: keep course. But early on like too, yeah.
- 5:59Speaker 2: Well I grew up listening into a lot of a
- 6:01Speaker 2: lot of different stuff. I listened to music from home,
- 6:05Speaker 2: a lot, music from Sonny a day, music from I've
- 6:09Speaker 2: been in Saubay. This is like things my parents used
- 6:12Speaker 2: to listen to. My dad also, I had a very
- 6:14Speaker 2: diverse hears for music. It was playing our chocolate, you know,
- 6:20Speaker 2: Curtis Midfield, it was playing my mom, was playing for
- 6:22Speaker 2: your spends, Salawa a Beni and a lot of different stuff.
- 6:25Speaker 2: So I caut up on that. Then as I grew
- 6:31Speaker 2: I listened to a lot of doctor dress stuff for sure. Yes,
- 6:35Speaker 2: of course the West Coast into scoop all the projects.
- 6:40Speaker 2: You know, we were reading the books, to the magazines
- 6:44Speaker 2: and yeah, I think that music itself in Nigeria where
- 6:50Speaker 2: I leave, it's literally out there on the street.
- 6:54Speaker 1: Such a musical place.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's like it's everybody's everybody's thin is not something
- 7:01Speaker 2: that all is only one person that does this great
- 7:04Speaker 2: A lot of talents from then Andreia, incredible, amazing new
- 7:08Speaker 2: old sendless.
- 7:10Speaker 1: We got to give a shout out to our new sponsor,
- 7:12Speaker 1: Raffie Law Group. Listen, I don't partner with just anybody.
- 7:15Speaker 1: And if you're from Arizona, all my az people who
- 7:18Speaker 1: are watching y'all know, call Raffi. Raffi, Raffie Law Group.
- 7:23Speaker 1: They treat you like family, which is why I decided
- 7:26Speaker 1: to partner with them. Man, it only makes sense. The
- 7:29Speaker 1: best law group in az They've helped over seventy thousand
- 7:32Speaker 1: folks in Arizona and listen, it's pretty easy. Whatever happens,
- 7:37Speaker 1: car accidents, car crashes, injuries, whatever, they handle it. My
- 7:40Speaker 1: wife actually got into an accident, this was like five
- 7:44Speaker 1: or six years ago. They handled her case. She got
- 7:47Speaker 1: paid out. It was super painless, it was super seamless.
- 7:51Speaker 1: The team was incredible. And when I tell you, man,
- 7:54Speaker 1: it's like a real family atmosphere over there. This is
- 7:56Speaker 1: not like just some random billboard lawyer or some bus
- 7:58Speaker 1: stop lawyer. No, it's a real team, all right. So
- 8:01Speaker 1: make sure you go support Raffie Law Group. And don't
- 8:03Speaker 1: forget you're going to do an accident, any sort of
- 8:05Speaker 1: personal injury, car crash, whatever, make sure you call RAFFI
- 8:10Speaker 1: right now. Six three three eight eight forty three thirty three.
- 8:14Speaker 1: That's six two three three eight eight four three three
- 8:16Speaker 1: three Call RAFFI. What happens when Lago sleeps? Man? What
- 8:20Speaker 1: are we going to the strip club? Is there after hours,
- 8:22Speaker 1: there's some good all night food spots. It all happens.
- 8:25Speaker 1: That's the name of the EP.
- 8:27Speaker 2: What happened when Lego sleeps? What's come out of some
- 8:30Speaker 2: of our experiences in the night after work. We're just
- 8:33Speaker 2: pulling back to the crib and you know, we're seeing
- 8:35Speaker 2: our quiet it guess it never gets quiet really, but yeah,
- 8:41Speaker 2: it's the rhdom of the night, basically, our vibes and
- 8:44Speaker 2: things that we've experienced from that time. Oftentimes, you know,
- 8:49Speaker 2: sometimes when we go to the club, we leave the
- 8:51Speaker 2: club with a different energy. Oh I'm going on to
- 8:54Speaker 2: make a record like this, right, but we're able to
- 8:56Speaker 2: document us making music that resonate with a time that
- 9:01Speaker 2: we're hit. All of the songs that I've made in
- 9:04Speaker 2: the past, I don't think I've ever made anything out
- 9:07Speaker 2: of a place that I was not in. You know,
- 9:10Speaker 2: my music is very true. I keep it that for
- 9:15Speaker 2: for for the sake of honesty, you gotta be like
- 9:20Speaker 2: pure for real. So we've made some classics and if
- 9:26Speaker 2: you really strip them down down to the stems, you
- 9:29Speaker 2: can see elements of jazz and them. So when they
- 9:32Speaker 2: go sleeps pever, like I said earlier, it's more like
- 9:38Speaker 2: or sharing music that usually die in that drive.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Yeah, I feel like two. You gotta really because great
- 9:44Speaker 1: instrumental albums like Jay Dealer. I don't know if you
- 9:47Speaker 1: know Jay Dealer is one of the greatest producers of
- 9:49Speaker 1: all time in hip hop. But here I'm called Donuts.
- 9:51Speaker 1: It's legendary. It's like thirty songs, it's all beats. But
- 9:54Speaker 1: I feel like to have an instrumental album, it's got
- 9:56Speaker 1: to be like and it to feel like it feels like,
- 10:00Speaker 1: you know, I was able to run through the project
- 10:01Speaker 1: like it feels like.
- 10:02Speaker 2: I feel like everybody as here is to listen. Yeah,
- 10:05Speaker 2: we should try less to define music so much. It
- 10:10Speaker 2: gets to feel, yeah, like you listen and if it's
- 10:13Speaker 2: your thing, the rock with it. If it's not, you know,
- 10:16Speaker 2: it's still all good, you know. So I respect to
- 10:21Speaker 2: all the iconic artists who my parents kind of like
- 10:27Speaker 2: really were just obsessed with, right, Yeah, you know, like,
- 10:31Speaker 2: I think the inspiration comes from home, and I'm happy
- 10:34Speaker 2: to find people who also kind of like resonate with
- 10:36Speaker 2: a project before it came out, and that kind of
- 10:38Speaker 2: like gave me more confidence to put it out.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Yea, when you do these DJ gigs I've seen some
- 10:43Speaker 1: of these gigs you do and they're huge. How much
- 10:46Speaker 1: of your set are you like planning out and how
- 10:49Speaker 1: much are you just in the moment, like thinking this up?
- 10:53Speaker 1: Because I DJ clubs, So it's like sometimes you're like
- 10:55Speaker 1: really kind of hone in, plan it set out, and
- 10:57Speaker 1: then other times you just you know, you're.
- 10:59Speaker 2: Just and and that's that's the that's what talents really
- 11:03Speaker 2: and experience comes to play. It's not like you're just
- 11:06Speaker 2: throwing them out as experience that's playing out. You've been here,
- 11:10Speaker 2: you understand that if I go this way, it works
- 11:13Speaker 2: this way. And sometimes you're looking for a different reaction,
- 11:16Speaker 2: and that's what calls for the shows that you true.
- 11:18Speaker 2: I think that's what DJing is is submitting to the audience.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Yeah, Like you might have one thing planning and you
- 11:24Speaker 1: get to the audience you're like, oh, I gotta I
- 11:25Speaker 1: gotta go hold, Yeah, I gotta go hold the way here.
- 11:28Speaker 2: I always plan out my sets, but it's not necessarily
- 11:33Speaker 2: played by the rules.
- 11:34Speaker 1: Yeah almost, Like here's a roadmap.
- 11:37Speaker 2: It's a roadmap, but you gotta keep your eyes on
- 11:39Speaker 2: the you gotta also listens, like looking at a Google drive,
- 11:44Speaker 2: a Google map, right, and you're driving somewhere Google s
- 11:47Speaker 2: is stun left. You gotta look first. Yeah, and even
- 11:52Speaker 2: sometimes when you make a right time, it still brings
- 11:55Speaker 2: you back to where you're headed. Dj and is fun
- 11:57Speaker 2: and I think is of It's a very interesting profession
- 12:04Speaker 2: that deserves a whole lot of different conversation.
- 12:09Speaker 1: Yeah, what about on the production side, what is your like?
- 12:12Speaker 1: Are you doing everything on a computer? Are you.
- 12:17Speaker 2: Both? My dear w currently is fl studio. But we
- 12:22Speaker 2: played a lot of live percussions.
- 12:24Speaker 1: Uh.
- 12:26Speaker 2: We played bay double bays, we played a lot of
- 12:29Speaker 2: mushroom bays, we played sacks, we played some brass, pretty
- 12:36Speaker 2: much double ball. When we started making music originally Afro.
- 12:41Speaker 2: The records have put out in the past, like with Bono,
- 12:44Speaker 2: those were done on the laptop. But for this project's
- 12:48Speaker 2: half and half has to be we're gonna do jazz.
- 12:51Speaker 2: I have a band back on. I have a band
- 12:54Speaker 2: here in La as well. I've been with the band
- 12:56Speaker 2: in La for four years. We've been doing this since nineteen.
- 13:01Speaker 1: This is when you come to La. You got your guys.
- 13:03Speaker 2: We have a band.
- 13:04Speaker 1: We're cooking up.
- 13:04Speaker 2: Yes, we'll always cook king, Yeah, always good King.
- 13:08Speaker 1: What do you think if you could, what in your opinion,
- 13:12Speaker 1: American artist has embraced the wave of afrobeats the most.
- 13:20Speaker 2: The most can be, you know, they gotta be a balance.
- 13:24Speaker 2: How do we know the.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Most well, I mean maybe just like collaborated the motions,
- 13:29Speaker 1: maybe bringing people on tour.
- 13:30Speaker 2: I think everybody's doing it. I don't know about the most.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Chris Brown's and a lot of stuff with.
- 13:35Speaker 2: Everybody's doing it. Doctor Dre too, Dre.
- 13:37Speaker 1: Yeah it's crazy, but I feel like.
- 13:39Speaker 2: Doctor Dre uh like yeah, like you, everybody's doing it.
- 13:43Speaker 2: I think it's a great genre. I don't think it's
- 13:45Speaker 2: it's really musicians that are from there that came here, right,
- 13:49Speaker 2: It's not five fetched. I think the music is great
- 13:53Speaker 2: and Aphrobets also is very open to the rest of
- 13:56Speaker 2: the world. Right, our guys collaborate with people from the
- 14:00Speaker 2: UK from oh Man, the UK is from different plasts
- 14:04Speaker 2: of the world, you know, not just here.
- 14:05Speaker 1: But yeah, one of my favorite It's funny because like
- 14:08Speaker 1: a lot of people kind of got put on the
- 14:09Speaker 1: afrobeats in a bigger way through Drake. I would say,
- 14:13Speaker 1: like we one dance, Yeah, with one dance, but I've
- 14:17Speaker 1: I feel like I kind of got hip because like
- 14:19Speaker 1: one of my favorite artists is Dave from London. Yeah,
- 14:22Speaker 1: Dave is crazy and I.
- 14:23Speaker 2: Feel like, well, Snoop Dogg has been on apro way
- 14:26Speaker 2: long ago I had I did not know a lot
- 14:30Speaker 2: of people, a lot of people, a lot of the
- 14:32Speaker 2: guys that make the music. Yeah, Ninjurians.
- 14:34Speaker 1: You know, so the Snoop Snoop Dogg has a reggae
- 14:37Speaker 1: album just to We're Clean a legend. I feel like
- 14:41Speaker 1: you could tell me Snoop has done anything.
- 14:44Speaker 2: Ever, I think it's a musician. Musicians do music for sure.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Yeah, Yeah, I feel like that's the one thing like
- 14:50Speaker 1: I think it's you can't be defined by like whatever
- 14:54Speaker 1: we like, we.
- 14:55Speaker 2: Always try and this is what I always say with
- 14:58Speaker 2: John is great to gas music, but he's doing too
- 15:02Speaker 2: much definition of the music. Then you know, people should
- 15:05Speaker 2: have music and love what they feel like one.
- 15:08Speaker 1: Hundred man talk about working with Berna boy, what's what's
- 15:14Speaker 1: that like? Because you know he is kind of kind
- 15:17Speaker 1: of I would say he is the Kendrick, the j Cole,
- 15:22Speaker 1: the Drake of this of the of the genre. You know,
- 15:25Speaker 1: like he's very much the guy that like if you're
- 15:28Speaker 1: at a club in l A and they do a
- 15:30Speaker 1: set real quick. If they do a little three or
- 15:32Speaker 1: four or five songs for the ladies in the middle
- 15:34Speaker 1: of their hip hop set, it's gonna be burner boy.
- 15:36Speaker 2: That's nice. It's a great guy. Is an amazing individual
- 15:40Speaker 2: from Nanjeria. We collaborated in the past. We have a
- 15:44Speaker 2: lot of unrelease records as well. A great guy. It's been.
- 15:47Speaker 2: It's been a great guy since then. One too. It
- 15:49Speaker 2: was really good with the music and it's very diverse too.
- 15:54Speaker 2: It does it does potoa reggae, ifro greg.
- 16:00Speaker 1: Hip hop ship. He was just on that Gunner record.
- 16:03Speaker 2: Grey Gut Uh.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Somebody who I've had on the show a couple of
- 16:06Speaker 1: times is that David Oh.
- 16:08Speaker 2: Grey Gut too.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Great guy.
- 16:09Speaker 2: He's so nice, you know, it's funny, coolest.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I didn't realize until the second time he came on,
- 16:14Speaker 1: so I got to ask him about it. I was like,
- 16:15Speaker 1: I was like, hey, man, I read that your dad
- 16:17Speaker 1: is like in charge of like a nice chunk of
- 16:20Speaker 1: like power in Nigeria. His dad.
- 16:24Speaker 2: Yeah, it's from a great family. Yeah, super cool people.
- 16:26Speaker 1: And he like came up in Atlanta and ship like
- 16:30Speaker 1: would you because because I feel like you always hear
- 16:32Speaker 1: him or whiz Kid is kind of like two of
- 16:34Speaker 1: the guys who kind of, like I guess, broke broke
- 16:37Speaker 1: the genre. Yeah, commercially facts, you know, Is that is
- 16:41Speaker 1: that fair? You think? Yeah?
- 16:42Speaker 2: Of course.
- 16:43Speaker 1: Uh.
- 16:43Speaker 2: David and Whiskey definitely put afro on the pedalstal both
- 16:50Speaker 2: incredible human beings. I'm very close to the boath of them,
- 16:53Speaker 2: and they make some of the best music that's ever
- 16:55Speaker 2: come out from the continent.
- 16:56Speaker 1: Yeah, sure, for sure.
- 16:57Speaker 2: Shouts to whiz Kydah, Shout out to Wieze, Shout out
- 17:00Speaker 2: to David, Shout out a bun On, shout out to
- 17:02Speaker 2: the entire sCOD There's a lot off people. Man, shout
- 17:04Speaker 2: out to Thames, Shout out to Ayers, Dots, Savage. The
- 17:09Speaker 2: list is endless.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Man, Hey, man, don't forget odd socks, basics. The only

- 18:46Speaker 2: give me five, hold on, hold on, You're gonna have
- 18:47Speaker 2: to tell me a beat mall somepoint in terms of
- 18:50Speaker 2: what just all.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Time not your personal takee like it could be. It
- 18:55Speaker 1: could be whoever you think is your personal favorite. It
- 18:56Speaker 1: could be whoever you think is the most important.
- 18:58Speaker 2: I don't have a passon, no preference when it comes
- 19:02Speaker 2: to the sounds that come from Africa.
- 19:05Speaker 1: What about just who you think are like the goats
- 19:07Speaker 1: of the genre, like you know Whiz Whiz.
- 19:10Speaker 2: Yes, Whiz definitely got Bona's goat da videos go to
- 19:14Speaker 2: but you know, trajectory of music and a few things
- 19:18Speaker 2: that has happened in the past and how accessible Whiz became.
- 19:23Speaker 2: He did a lot of collaborations. I did a lot
- 19:27Speaker 2: of collaborations with him as well, and a few older
- 19:29Speaker 2: people from different points of their career.
- 19:33Speaker 1: Uh.
- 19:33Speaker 2: DAVIDO also did that, which I also respect. David featured
- 19:36Speaker 2: people signed artists the labels Alameda as well al I
- 19:41Speaker 2: don't know you head off fire Boy, I didn't let
- 19:44Speaker 2: go Little cash Fields that was alamedas platform that those
- 19:47Speaker 2: guys came out from. Yeah, you say favorite it's hard
- 19:50Speaker 2: to have to say, oh, this is this guy's really
- 19:55Speaker 2: all collectively pull the put the genre on the on
- 20:00Speaker 2: a big telescope. We all did, and the DJs too,
- 20:03Speaker 2: So it's really tough to say this is favor. But
- 20:08Speaker 2: in terms of also what I listened to my music,
- 20:10Speaker 2: you don't want to see what I've played.
- 20:12Speaker 1: The most surprised that is in your playlist, surprise or
- 20:19Speaker 1: just something random, bro.
- 20:21Speaker 2: I listened to, I don't know, I listen to it.
- 20:25Speaker 2: I can't show you. I listened to a lot of
- 20:28Speaker 2: unusual stuff. Sometimes I don't know the artists, but I'm
- 20:32Speaker 2: lugged in. I think it is it's important to protect
- 20:37Speaker 2: music itself, but it's more important to also be very
- 20:40Speaker 2: open minded when we're listening before, like we don't used
- 20:44Speaker 2: to know what is singing. We just tapping and just
- 20:47Speaker 2: like it. Then we start finding out the other things.
- 20:50Speaker 2: I like to listen to music that way, rather than
- 20:52Speaker 2: go search for genre. I'm currently listening to a lady
- 20:58Speaker 2: called She's Amazing in Science of the cap music and
- 21:02Speaker 2: Njuria beautiful beautiful vocals. You should check out it spelled
- 21:06Speaker 2: z E l I N A l A. She's Amazing
- 21:10Speaker 2: I'm also a big fan of Dato Black. She's a
- 21:14Speaker 2: rapper but she's from Legos. Also a big fan of Memes.
- 21:18Speaker 2: That's a guy called Means back Home to check him out.
- 21:22Speaker 2: I can go on and on cam Well, the listen
- 21:26Speaker 2: is endless. I wanted to ask, I can send you playlists.
- 21:28Speaker 2: I think that might help better.
- 21:30Speaker 1: There's a the company Empire has done a lot to
- 21:34Speaker 1: help try to push afrobeats forward, like they have they
- 21:36Speaker 1: have an office out and and Geria and this family. Yeah,
- 21:42Speaker 1: I was gonna say, how, how how how big of
- 21:44Speaker 1: a part you think like Ghazi and those guys like
- 21:47Speaker 1: have helped kind of play and like bring in because
- 21:49Speaker 1: I feel like Fireboy caught such a big record, the
- 21:52Speaker 1: ed Sheering feature that all that was on em.
- 21:54Speaker 3: Did a great record too together culture, But how important
- 21:57Speaker 3: is that to have folks like Ghazi Nima and then
- 22:00Speaker 3: like you got doctor Dre and Jimmy Iveen and all
- 22:03Speaker 3: these like you.
- 22:04Speaker 1: Know, I feel like it's also very purposeful with with
- 22:07Speaker 1: those guys because like I feel like they're very early
- 22:09Speaker 1: on like some some of the.
- 22:11Speaker 2: That's that's commendable. I always say people should put their
- 22:15Speaker 2: money where the mountains and you know, support things before
- 22:19Speaker 2: they become, you know. But yeah, a lot of great
- 22:23Speaker 2: people who have contributed to helping AFRO empire.
- 22:26Speaker 1: For sure.
- 22:26Speaker 2: I've been to a lot of the events that they
- 22:28Speaker 2: do here and it's quite inclusive. They look out for
- 22:31Speaker 2: producers as well. They I've done business with them in
- 22:34Speaker 2: the past as well, and it was really good.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Talk to me man, you got is seven albums now, Yes, sir,
- 22:41Speaker 1: that's a lot music. My guy, uh, my guy. Solomon
- 22:45Speaker 1: says you were like the the dre DJ called DJ
- 22:48Speaker 1: Premiere of the space.
- 22:49Speaker 2: God oh god, I'm spent all my world. But yeah,
- 22:54Speaker 2: shout out to Selomon. Many good guy shout out. So
- 22:57Speaker 2: that's good compliments because some of the people I also
- 23:00Speaker 2: look up to.
- 23:01Speaker 1: He's outing Kenny right now, going crazy. But I'm curious
- 23:05Speaker 1: this EP is it like an appetizer for the like
- 23:08Speaker 1: a full body of work that you're working on.
- 23:10Speaker 2: Definitely, the collaborations are gonna be out soon. We have
- 23:13Speaker 2: a lot of beautiful, incredible surprises, but this wasn't something
- 23:20Speaker 2: we we saw coming. I played it for my team
- 23:24Speaker 2: and everybody seems to be more excited than I am.
- 23:28Speaker 2: At a time, and we've been making this type of project,
- 23:32Speaker 2: but we never, you know, put them out, you know
- 23:35Speaker 2: how it is not for sure. And we made about
- 23:39Speaker 2: one hundreds and something songs. Then we had a quality
- 23:43Speaker 2: time to review them. And I think I'm really happy
- 23:46Speaker 2: with what we put out and I'm looking forward to
- 23:49Speaker 2: what you think about it and other people. You had
- 23:52Speaker 2: a chance to listen yet, Yeah, I listened to the EP.
- 23:56Speaker 1: It was easy. Look, I was I was working. It's
- 23:58Speaker 1: crazy because I was working out the jazz.
- 24:00Speaker 2: Oh wow.
- 24:01Speaker 1: But I was like, yo, I need to burn an
- 24:03Speaker 1: incense this. If it's a it's are not because I
- 24:07Speaker 1: smoke respectom. It feels like a great project to throw
- 24:11Speaker 1: on on psilocybin. Mushrooms seems like a good mushroom project.
- 24:16Speaker 2: Thank you man, thank you. It's quite therapeutic.
- 24:19Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. You had t I on your last project.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Yes, sir.
- 24:23Speaker 1: Is there an MC like in the hip hop space
- 24:26Speaker 1: that you if you could just you know, somebody who
- 24:30Speaker 1: you just are a fan of that you could work with.
- 24:31Speaker 1: Who would that be if you had it your way?
- 24:34Speaker 2: H It's a lot of people.
- 24:37Speaker 1: Man.
- 24:37Speaker 2: I would love to work with nas. I would love
- 24:39Speaker 2: to work with Doctor Drag and Crazy. I would love
- 24:42Speaker 2: to work with there's a lot of people. Man, I
- 24:45Speaker 2: can't go on and and I would love to work
- 24:46Speaker 2: with Drake Chris Brown.
- 24:50Speaker 1: I feel like the Drake and Chris Brown things vary
- 24:52Speaker 1: within the.
- 24:53Speaker 2: No, no, no, no, it's nothing. I would love to
- 24:56Speaker 2: walk with those guys.
- 24:57Speaker 1: You gotta get Drake on the next album.
- 25:00Speaker 2: Yeah, Drake a lot the boy but the most serious
- 25:04Speaker 2: note Chris Brown, Drake Na's I'm a big fan of
- 25:12Speaker 2: uh what's his name to Leon Thomas. I met him
- 25:18Speaker 2: at Yes, I met him at a show last year
- 25:21Speaker 2: and the vibes were true. Greg guy such a nice guy. No,
- 25:25Speaker 2: Greg got no super cool guy, super talented. Yes, I
- 25:28Speaker 2: would love to work with him too. I'm also looking
- 25:31Speaker 2: out to work working with just musicians, you know, no
- 25:34Speaker 2: particularly just superstars, but also all the people. You know.
- 25:39Speaker 2: I'm a collaborator, that's all I do, you know. And yeah,
- 25:43Speaker 2: I'll love to send beads around. I'll send you some
- 25:45Speaker 2: beats too, Who knows you might you might drop as sixteen.
- 25:48Speaker 1: As a producer, Are you like actively sending packs out?
- 25:51Speaker 2: Because yeah, that's what I've been doing for fifteen years.
- 25:54Speaker 1: Bro, you know, I know, like when you get to
- 25:56Speaker 1: a certain level, some producers in America. Yeah, like you
- 26:00Speaker 1: gotta pull up. Yeah, I gotta work on some shit
- 26:03Speaker 1: from scratch.
- 26:04Speaker 2: Yeah, that's okay. But I don't make music with all
- 26:06Speaker 2: those kind of rules. I don't do like I'm.
- 26:10Speaker 1: Like, if someone asks for a pack, you're saying it, Yeah,
- 26:12Speaker 1: why not if I got it in me.
- 26:13Speaker 2: If I don't have it, I don't have it. But
- 26:15Speaker 2: if I have it, yeah, you take one.
- 26:17Speaker 1: You take one?
- 26:18Speaker 2: What it takes one? You know, it's music, man, there's
- 26:20Speaker 2: no git keeping, and there's no ego with this. For me,
- 26:23Speaker 2: I think it's a privileged to be able to do
- 26:25Speaker 2: this and to share my heart with the world.
- 26:27Speaker 1: Hey, don't forget. If you're not on my bookie and
- 26:30Speaker 1: you're a sports fan, get in on the action man.
- 26:33Speaker 1: NBA playoffs are coming, they're steadily approaching end of the
- 26:36Speaker 1: season awards. You can go ahead and throw a little
- 26:38Speaker 1: something on those, little action on them. Also baseball season.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Go to my bookie right now. Use the promo code Bootleg.
- 26:47Speaker 1: And if you put some action on something up to
- 26:49Speaker 1: five hundred bucks and you happen to lose, it's all good.
- 26:54Speaker 1: They're gonna give you that right back. Risk free. Use
- 26:56Speaker 1: that promo code bootleg at my Bookie, get in on
- 26:59Speaker 1: the action. I've been rocking with my Bookie as a customer,
- 27:04Speaker 1: like twelve years my bookie promo code bootleg. Head over. Okay,
- 27:09Speaker 1: you've been DJing a lot. What are your because you
- 27:13Speaker 1: dj all over the world. What is the guarantee record
- 27:17Speaker 1: no matter where you are in the world, that is
- 27:21Speaker 1: going off in the club? What's the joint?
- 27:24Speaker 2: M hmm RMB always wings, R and B?
- 27:27Speaker 1: Well, which R and B song?
- 27:28Speaker 2: Whitneystin Whitney? Yes?
- 27:31Speaker 1: Which which Whitney.
- 27:32Speaker 2: Though, hm hmmm, a lot of Whitney Easton records walk.
- 27:36Speaker 2: But I would say because.
- 27:37Speaker 1: You get the sing the sing back, right, Yeah, you
- 27:39Speaker 1: get it, you get the girls to sing, and.
- 27:43Speaker 2: Nineties records always also do justice. But I already imagine
- 27:48Speaker 2: a lot of those records into my sounds.
- 27:51Speaker 1: Right, So you've remixed a lot of stuff.
- 27:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's all right, not okay? One that all of
- 27:57Speaker 2: us keeps them grooving. Sometimes I feel like at these
- 28:00Speaker 2: spots is just really wants to fail.
- 28:03Speaker 1: Have you tried to, because I feel like if you
- 28:05Speaker 1: did a remix, it's a little harder because you have
- 28:07Speaker 1: to clear stuff obviously, But if you ever thought about
- 28:09Speaker 1: putting out just like a remix pack where it's like, yo, here's.
- 28:12Speaker 2: You've always done that, But I'm sure but on DSPs.
- 28:16Speaker 2: On DSPs that.
- 28:17Speaker 1: I waste to get on SoundCloud and like YouTube.
- 28:20Speaker 2: No, no, there are ways to get those records on
- 28:23Speaker 2: those platforms. I've had a lot of Beyonce remixes and DSPs.
- 28:27Speaker 2: But you know, so DJ struggle is because it's.
- 28:33Speaker 1: Struggle.
- 28:34Speaker 2: Yeah, It's like the DJs and the talent that DJs
- 28:38Speaker 2: have have to be honest in such a way that
- 28:41Speaker 2: it works with what djits are trying to do. You know,
- 28:44Speaker 2: I think DJs have always just been behind making records
- 28:47Speaker 2: just go bigger, and they have connections to these songs,
- 28:51Speaker 2: not just because they're playing them. We listen to these
- 28:54Speaker 2: songs with our families, do you know? So I think
- 28:56Speaker 2: that is a DJ struggle and I pray the powers
- 28:59Speaker 2: that find a way to make that work. But I'm away.
- 29:03Speaker 2: You can also just interapulate them and put them out.
- 29:06Speaker 1: We've seen a lot of artists here full collab albums
- 29:10Speaker 1: recently with producers, so like Freddi Gibbs did a whole
- 29:12Speaker 1: album with Alchemist, hit Boy and Nas. Did you know
- 29:16Speaker 1: six albums. Who would you like to do a full
- 29:18Speaker 1: album where you're executive producing, your handling all the production.
- 29:24Speaker 2: I would love to do it.
- 29:26Speaker 1: That would be crazy.
- 29:27Speaker 2: Yeah, that's my guy. You know, I feel like I
- 29:30Speaker 2: understand him. We've done a lot of records in the past,
- 29:34Speaker 2: and I kind of like, see we talk about the
- 29:37Speaker 2: records too, don't just like we chop it off properly.
- 29:40Speaker 2: And it's easy to make music with people that understand you.
- 29:45Speaker 1: Well.
- 29:45Speaker 2: Else well, I would love to probably do something with
- 29:48Speaker 2: Mary jay O Brandy. I see how passionate she's She
- 29:57Speaker 2: was there last night, Yeah, she was there the other day,
- 30:00Speaker 2: and she's super kind, super super kind, super taughtful. I
- 30:04Speaker 2: would definitely love to work with.
- 30:08Speaker 1: Bro.
- 30:09Speaker 2: You're putting me on the spot actually knowing for a while,
- 30:11Speaker 2: I know a lot of the whole album.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Hmmm. I think I think you and Waves would be crazy.
- 30:16Speaker 2: Yeah, Me and Always would be crazy for sure. Myself
- 30:19Speaker 2: and Omalley too will be incredible. O'Malley is he's kind
- 30:23Speaker 2: of like one of the pioneers too, right, maybe more
- 30:28Speaker 2: than that, maybe more of is is defining something we
- 30:35Speaker 2: probably have not really witnessed yet. But it's almost like
- 30:39Speaker 2: he's heading there and it's so clear he has a
- 30:42Speaker 2: lot of great records. He has a lot of incredible
- 30:45Speaker 2: global smash records as well. And we put a song
- 30:49Speaker 2: out first before he put out his EP, and ever
- 30:52Speaker 2: since then we kind of like locked in. We also
- 30:54Speaker 2: made a classic record last year with Tyler Yeah shut out,
- 30:59Speaker 2: She's is amazing. We made a song called one Call
- 31:03Speaker 2: and Yeah, definitely would love to make an album with him,
- 31:08Speaker 2: an album with Doctor Drew Who I was?
- 31:09Speaker 1: I always confused him with uh old who I was
- 31:14Speaker 1: and him. I always confused those two. Why because I
- 31:18Speaker 1: am a fucking American. The names are too close. O
- 31:22Speaker 1: ley A Day, But Allami Day is the guy who's
- 31:26Speaker 1: like the O G. Yeah, that's the guy who like
- 31:29Speaker 1: is like a pioneer.
- 31:31Speaker 3: Is that?
- 31:31Speaker 2: Yes, definitely fucked up. It's okay, man, it's okay, come on,
- 31:36Speaker 2: a lot of me. Day is definitely up there.
- 31:38Speaker 1: He was with Empires.
- 31:39Speaker 2: Yes, yes, he was the one that signed Uh I.
- 31:45Speaker 1: Just gotta correct my out here being ridicted.
- 31:47Speaker 2: No, No, it's okay man. Yeah, shout out to the goats.
- 31:52Speaker 1: Yeah, listen, man, the EP is out. It's a vibe
- 31:55Speaker 1: thank you light, an incense light, a joint uh, pop
- 32:00Speaker 1: a micro dose, press play on that thing.
- 32:03Speaker 2: Do your thing, U safe, keep it keep it safe.
- 32:07Speaker 1: New album coming, I'm sure yes, by the end of
- 32:10Speaker 1: the year. I can't I can't say it. It's a
- 32:13Speaker 1: working product.
- 32:14Speaker 2: Yes, yes, this is what I have right now, but
- 32:18Speaker 2: they ought to collaborative projects will be outis and.
- 32:20Speaker 1: There it is. Man. Well, I appreciate you sitting down
- 32:22Speaker 1: spain all. Man, I got to go to one of
- 32:24Speaker 1: these parties DJ because they look.
- 32:26Speaker 2: Yeah, one one to and Aprore're gonna.
- 32:29Speaker 1: Be doing some stuff here in the States.
- 32:30Speaker 2: Yes, we have a few cities in the States.

- 32:36Speaker 1: thank you for pulling off, of course. Congrats on all
