Latest / The Mark Simone Show / Hour 1: Is Jimmy Kimmel getting canceled?
Transcript
- 0:00Speaker 1: You just heard the news. Now you'll find out what
- 0:03Speaker 1: it all means. It's Mark Simone on.
- 0:08Speaker 2: 710WOR. Well, hey, don't forget we're 9 o'clock now, 9
- 0:14Speaker 2: to noon, three hours every day. A lot of stuff
- 0:17Speaker 2: going on. Jimmy Kimmel, the cancellation of Kimmel has been announced.
- 0:22Speaker 2: We'll get to that. I hate to scare you about
- 0:25Speaker 2: summer coming to an end, but NFL season begins tonight.
- 0:30Speaker 2: The opening game of the NFL season is tonight. We'll
- 0:33Speaker 2: get to that. We'll get to, hey, these 9-11 air
- 0:36Speaker 2: quality files that have been released are quite upsetting to everybody.
- 0:43Speaker 2: We'll get to tonight's convention, the Republican midterm convention. We've
- 0:48Speaker 2: never seen a midterm convention before. It's a good idea,
- 0:51Speaker 2: but there's a lot of buts to it. We'll get
- 0:54Speaker 2: to that. New Hampshire primary last night. Sununu won the
- 0:59Speaker 2: Republican side.
- 1:00Speaker 3: We also need to shake up Washington with real reform.
- 1:04Speaker 4: What does that mean?
- 1:05Speaker 2: Nothing. You see, every politician says that every election. Every
- 1:10Speaker 2: two seconds they've been saying that for a hundred years.
- 1:13Speaker 2: It never happens. On the Democratic side, Pappas won.
- 1:16Speaker 3: The voters of New Hampshire have sent a clear message.
- 1:20Speaker 4: They're fed up with what's happening in our politics and
- 1:23Speaker 4: they're ready for change.
- 1:24Speaker 5: Woo!
- 1:25Speaker 2: Yeah, so again, same stuff. Now, there's only one scary
- 1:29Speaker 2: thing that came out of New Hampshire. Democratic turnout was
- 1:32Speaker 2: pretty good. Republican turnout was kind of low. That's a problem.
- 1:38Speaker 2: That's going to be a big problem for Republicans in
- 1:40Speaker 2: the midterms. They've got to get turnout. That's the key
- 1:43Speaker 2: to everything. I mean, if everybody in the world voted,
- 1:48Speaker 2: they'd probably have an easy time of winning. But turnout
- 1:52Speaker 2: is the key. And again, it's an off-year election. People
- 1:55Speaker 2: don't always turn out. Democrats are fired up. They're angry.
- 2:00Speaker 2: So the turnout was a little better for Democrats and
- 2:03Speaker 2: a little low for Republicans in New Hampshire. Now, they've
- 2:06Speaker 2: got plenty of time to correct that, so they're going
- 2:08Speaker 2: to have to work on making sure they get turnout,
- 2:11Speaker 2: a ground game, all that sort of stuff. That's one reason,
- 2:14Speaker 2: the main reason for tonight's Republican midterm convention. It'll be
- 2:19Speaker 2: in Dallas. The president has decided he'll speak tonight. Now,
- 2:22Speaker 2: you've got a couple of problems. One, you got this
- 2:25Speaker 2: big NFL game on against it tonight. That's not going
- 2:29Speaker 2: to help. And it's not just any NFL season opener.
- 2:32Speaker 2: It's a rematch of the Super Bowl. Seahawks and Patriots
- 2:35Speaker 2: will play tonight. So it's the two Super Bowl teams
- 2:38Speaker 2: playing again. It's the first NFL official season game. It's
- 2:44Speaker 2: going to get a huge audience, so that's not going
- 2:46Speaker 2: to help this Republican midterm convention. Now, the idea of
- 2:50Speaker 2: the Republican midterm convention is, is they'll fire up their
- 2:54Speaker 2: base and they'll get people out and they'll show people
- 2:56Speaker 2: why they got to vote Republican. Well, that's all great,
- 2:58Speaker 2: but who's going to watch it? Who's going to actually
- 3:01Speaker 2: see this convention tonight? It won't be on any of
- 3:03Speaker 2: the networks. It won't be covered by fake news. It
- 3:07Speaker 2: won't be covered by the New York Times or any
- 3:09Speaker 2: of this. You're not going to see it on MSNBC
- 3:12Speaker 2: or CNN. You won't see it on the broadcast networks. Now,
- 3:15Speaker 2: Fox News has said they would cover it, but... The
- 3:20Speaker 2: problem there is you've got to figure most of the
- 3:22Speaker 2: Fox viewers are already going to be voting Republican, will
- 3:25Speaker 2: already be voting, you know, already supporting Trump. So basically
- 3:30Speaker 2: that's just preaching to the choir. So that's the problem
- 3:33Speaker 2: with tonight. It's a two-night convention. President Trump will speak tonight. J.D.
- 3:38Speaker 2: Vance will speak tomorrow. President Trump will probably speak again tomorrow. Now,
- 3:43Speaker 2: the other problem is he's got to be really careful tonight.
- 3:48Speaker 2: really careful with this speech, you know, affordability crisis, all
- 3:53Speaker 2: of that. Well, it's not really that much of a crisis.
- 3:56Speaker 2: If you look at the actual economy, the numbers, the data,
- 4:00Speaker 2: it's a pretty strong, pretty good economy. He's got to
- 4:03Speaker 2: be careful selling that because if you make it sound
- 4:06Speaker 2: like you're oblivious, people feel there's an affordability crisis. There
- 4:12Speaker 2: may not be the crisis they think, but if they
- 4:14Speaker 2: feel it, You got to be careful with that. So
- 4:18Speaker 2: the other problem is you don't want to make Trump
- 4:20Speaker 2: too much the face of the midterms, which he is
- 4:24Speaker 2: kind of doing, saying, assume I'm on the ballot. Well,
- 4:28Speaker 2: problem is, again, that that inspires Democratic turnout. That'll increase
- 4:32Speaker 2: Democratic turnout. And again, he's got to be careful with
- 4:34Speaker 2: the speech tonight, not seeming oblivious to people's concerns. Empathy
- 4:40Speaker 2: is important. So he's got to be careful because they
- 4:42Speaker 2: could start cutting up his speech tonight to make campaign
- 4:46Speaker 2: commercials on the Democratic side. And he's just got to
- 4:52Speaker 2: be careful. The other thing with that speech, he's got
- 4:54Speaker 2: to make sure he doesn't make himself too much the
- 4:56Speaker 2: face of the party. And another concern, he did accomplish
- 5:01Speaker 2: a lot while in office the last two years. He
- 5:05Speaker 2: really did accomplish a lot. But you gotta be careful
- 5:08Speaker 2: not to just talk about the past. You can't just
- 5:11Speaker 2: list what you, what you did before. You got to
- 5:13Speaker 2: promise something that's coming, you know, no tax on tips,
- 5:16Speaker 2: all those things that people loved. That's already there. You
- 5:20Speaker 2: got to have something new to promote. Now, knowing him,
- 5:22Speaker 2: the guy that always pulls a rabbit out of the hat,
- 5:25Speaker 2: he'll unveil something tonight. Uh, that'll be pretty amazing. So
- 5:29Speaker 2: we'll see. It'll happen tonight. Again, I don't know what
- 5:31Speaker 2: kind of coverage or where it'll get any coverage. Um, Hey,
- 5:36Speaker 2: as far as 9-11, a lot of people are saying, well,
- 5:40Speaker 2: Mamdani finally done one good thing. There were these secret
- 5:44Speaker 2: files that show that everybody in government, local government, city government,
- 5:50Speaker 2: state government, federal government, they all knew the air quality
- 5:53Speaker 2: was horrible, that it was poisonous, that it was really dangerous,
- 5:57Speaker 2: and they deliberately covered it up. And the reason they
- 6:01Speaker 2: covered it up, if you'll read through these files, the
- 6:03Speaker 2: reason they covered it up was They saw a potential
- 6:07Speaker 2: for extreme liability. They would have to pay unbelievable amounts
- 6:13Speaker 2: of insurance claims on everybody working down there, living down there,
- 6:18Speaker 2: to avoid that massive, calamitous liability problem. They covered it up.
- 6:25Speaker 2: Press conference yesterday, Mamdani, John Stewart, a Mamdani buddy, who's
- 6:31Speaker 2: always been quite the advocate for those 9-11 families.
- 6:34Speaker 3: There was poison everywhere. in the air and on the
- 6:37Speaker 3: ground and in the windowsills and in your air conditioners
- 6:42Speaker 3: and covering your pets and your clothes. And it stayed
- 6:46Speaker 3: there for months. Everyone knew.
- 6:50Speaker 2: Yeah. Now, why would Mamdani do such a noble thing here,
- 6:54Speaker 2: releasing the files? Why would he be so? Well, I
- 6:58Speaker 2: think the main motivation here is he wants to take
- 7:03Speaker 2: down the establishment of the people he's always being compared to,
- 7:07Speaker 2: Rudy Giuliani, the greatest mayor ever, George Pataki, a great governor.
- 7:13Speaker 2: He's trying to destroy their reputations. That's one reason he
- 7:17Speaker 2: wants to release this. He wants to discredit all of them.
- 7:20Speaker 2: And he wants to do it before he goes down
- 7:22Speaker 2: there for the 9-11 ceremony. People are very upset he'll
- 7:25Speaker 2: be there. He's not George Pataki. He's not Rudy Giuliani. Well,
- 7:29Speaker 2: he's trying to bring them down by releasing all this information.
- 7:32Speaker 2: But It's still important that we get to see it.
- 7:35Speaker 2: They did cover up. They knew how bad the air was,
- 7:37Speaker 2: and they covered it up.
- 7:39Speaker 4: We hold an obligation to each of those New Yorkers
- 7:43Speaker 4: to ensure that Never Forget is not just a platitude,
- 7:47Speaker 4: but that it is something material to lead with the
- 7:50Speaker 4: honesty and responsibility that have too long been lacking, and
- 7:54Speaker 4: to fight for those who were there, devoted to the
- 7:57Speaker 4: city that they loved.
- 7:58Speaker 2: Now, let's be honest, deep down, Mamdani, does he really
- 8:01Speaker 2: care about the firemen and the policemen and the first
- 8:04Speaker 2: responders and those great heroes? Does he really care? No.
- 8:07Speaker 2: He hopes you all drop dead, but he'd love to
- 8:10Speaker 2: discredit all the establishment politicians who covered things up.
- 8:13Speaker 4: The 170,000 pages posted today are only the first release.
- 8:18Speaker 4: More will be shared over the next 12 months. Every
- 8:21Speaker 4: document on this portal will be accessible to every New
- 8:23Speaker 4: Yorker free of charge.
- 8:25Speaker 2: He didn't just release him. He put him up online.
- 8:27Speaker 2: He put a search thing in there. We'll see how
- 8:30Speaker 2: much attention it gets, but he's trying to really damage
- 8:32Speaker 2: the reputations of all the establishment politicians.
- 8:35Speaker 4: These are documents that show what the city knew about
- 8:38Speaker 4: the toxic air around Ground Zero, when they knew it,
- 8:42Speaker 4: and how they acted to limit liability. They contain details
- 8:46Speaker 4: about DEP's response. They show how asbestos was found nearly
- 8:51Speaker 4: everywhere that inspectors tested, and they will help New Yorkers
- 8:54Speaker 4: access the health care they need.
- 8:56Speaker 2: Yeah, it's pretty scary stuff. It's pretty ugly stuff, and
- 8:59Speaker 2: it's pretty outrageous stuff. But again, his motive isn't as
- 9:05Speaker 2: noble as you think. He's really just trying to destroy Rudy,
- 9:08Speaker 2: George Pataki, and all the leaders that were down there.
- 9:11Speaker 3: The city began covering their ass three weeks in. In
- 9:17Speaker 3: a memo, the memo is entitled Legislative Alternatives to the
- 9:22Speaker 3: Fiscal Responsibility for 9-11. These people had to fight, sick
- 9:29Speaker 3: and dying, for years.
- 9:32Speaker 2: Yeah, that's pretty bad stuff. All right, it's depressing. Let
- 9:37Speaker 2: me give you some good news. Jimmy Kimmel will be
- 9:39Speaker 2: going off the air. It's the end of the Jimmy
- 9:42Speaker 2: Kimmel era. It's been on a long time. You know,
- 9:46Speaker 2: it's been 24 years. This guy's been on 23 or
- 9:49Speaker 2: 24 years. Remember, we've explained to you that when your
- 9:54Speaker 2: contract is up, you get another contract, three years, five years.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Some people like three years. Some people like five.
- 10:00Speaker 5: Years.
- 10:00Speaker 2: Well, this time around, they didn't give them a new contract.
- 10:03Speaker 2: They just gave them a one-year extension, which is pretty insulting.
- 10:09Speaker 2: It happened once to Johnny Carson. Every five years, they'd
- 10:13Speaker 2: show up and sign the new five-year contract, and all
- 10:15Speaker 2: of a sudden, they showed up one year, and the
- 10:17Speaker 2: NBC guy said, how about a one-year contract? Well, Carson,
- 10:21Speaker 2: right on the spot, said he was retiring. He knew
- 10:24Speaker 2: what that meant. So they did it to Kimmel. They
- 10:26Speaker 2: gave him a one-year extension, which is as insulting as
- 10:29Speaker 2: you can get. It's just about up. It'll be up
- 10:32Speaker 2: at the end of this season. So they've announced one
- 10:38Speaker 2: more season. Well, they haven't actually announced it, but the
- 10:41Speaker 2: word is one more season, and he'll go off the
- 10:43Speaker 2: air in May. And that'll be the end of Kimmel.
- 10:48Speaker 2: I think one of the things that sped it up
- 10:50Speaker 2: was when they got rid of Colbert over at CBS,
- 10:54Speaker 2: it was replaced with just a real comedy show, not
- 10:56Speaker 2: an angry political show, not a biased, angry show with
- 11:00Speaker 2: an agenda, just a genuine comedy show, laughs, Byron Allen's
- 11:04Speaker 2: comics unleashed. And it's crushing Jimmy Fallon and Jimmy Kimmel
- 11:11Speaker 2: in the most important thing, 18 to 49 year olds,
- 11:14Speaker 2: the demo that the TV networks want 18 to 49.
- 11:18Speaker 2: Byron Allen's Comics Unleashed, crushing both of them. And it's
- 11:23Speaker 2: a much cheaper show to do than Fallon or Kimmel.
- 11:28Speaker 2: So I think when Kimmel goes off the air, that's
- 11:30Speaker 2: what they got in mind. They'll go with a real
- 11:32Speaker 2: comedy show. Just this Byron Allen is a genius. This
- 11:35Speaker 2: guy was a comedian, stand-up comedian. Then he got into
- 11:38Speaker 2: the business end. He's now a billionaire. This Comics Unleashed,
- 11:42Speaker 2: if you watch the way they produce it, it's four comedians.
- 11:45Speaker 2: He interviews them. And they actually beforehand, they give the
- 11:51Speaker 2: producers all their best routines, their best material. And they
- 11:54Speaker 2: write up questions to get those routines out. So it's
- 11:57Speaker 2: pretty scripted. Although it doesn't look it, but it ends up,
- 12:01Speaker 2: everything is very funny. It's a very funny show. There's
- 12:04Speaker 2: no political jokes, not even topical jokes. It's just funny stuff.
- 12:08Speaker 2: They tape five of them in one day. So it's
- 12:12Speaker 2: one day in the studio. And it's a very economical,
- 12:17Speaker 2: cheap show to do. As opposed to Jimmy Fallon, Jimmy Kimmel,
- 12:23Speaker 2: where you've got an orchestra, you've got an audience you've
- 12:25Speaker 2: got to bring in and out every day. Although Kimmel
- 12:28Speaker 2: and Fallon have been doing so poorly that they quietly
- 12:31Speaker 2: just cut those shows down to four days a week,
- 12:33Speaker 2: three days a week. They don't even do a show
- 12:35Speaker 2: every day. So Kimmel will go off the air in May.
- 12:39Speaker 2: That'll be the end to him. That's two down. One
- 12:43Speaker 2: to go. Well, actually, you can leave. One thing about
- 12:45Speaker 2: Jimmy Fallon, he really is genuinely a comedian. So when
- 12:48Speaker 2: he sees the writing on the wall, he'll switch the
- 12:50Speaker 2: Tonight Show back to comedy. There'll be no more Trump
- 12:54Speaker 2: derangement syndrome throughout the monologue. Let's go back to a
- 12:57Speaker 2: straight comedy show. And he'll do very well that way.
- 13:00Speaker 2: He can pull that off. So NFL Tonight, opening night.
- 13:06Speaker 2: Halloween stuff is everywhere. Do you know I was walking
- 13:09Speaker 2: by a house yesterday, 64th? Between Madison and Park. It
- 13:15Speaker 2: was the first house I saw with the Halloween decorations up.
- 13:21Speaker 2: Already decorated for Halloween. Absolutely ridiculous. But it's starting. So, hey, 9-11.
- 13:29Speaker 2: You know Howard Lutnick? He's the Commerce Secretary. He was
- 13:34Speaker 2: the chairman of the hedge fund, Cantor Fitzgerald. Big, huge fund.
- 13:38Speaker 2: And all their offices were in the World Trade Center.
- 13:43Speaker 2: And Lutnick had a couple of floors of the World
- 13:45Speaker 2: Trade Center. In 9-11, he lost hundreds and hundreds and
- 13:49Speaker 2: hundreds of employees. They were killed, almost lost the whole company.
- 13:54Speaker 2: Somehow he rebuilt it. It survived and thrived. And Lutnick
- 13:58Speaker 2: is the chairman. He would have normally been there, but something,
- 14:01Speaker 2: his wife couldn't pick up the kids from school. So
- 14:03Speaker 2: she asked him, could he do it that one day?
- 14:05Speaker 2: And that's the only reason he wasn't there. President Trump
- 14:09Speaker 2: talking about this.
- 14:10Speaker 6: This was the first time in years that he wasn't
- 14:12Speaker 6: there early in the morning. So you could say he
- 14:16Speaker 6: owes a lot to his son and he owes a
- 14:18Speaker 6: lot to his wife. But he brought his son to school.
- 14:22Speaker 6: And because of that, he got to see it from
- 14:25Speaker 6: the West Side Highway. He saw the planes go into
- 14:27Speaker 6: the towers and he said, oh, my God, my people,
- 14:30Speaker 6: my people.
- 14:31Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 14:32Speaker 2: So a lot of these cases of people that normally
- 14:34Speaker 2: would have been there The great chef restaurateur, Michael Lomonaco,
- 14:38Speaker 2: he ran the, remember the beautiful restaurant on the top,
- 14:42Speaker 2: Windows on the World? He was the guy running it.
- 14:45Speaker 2: He would have been there. Something happened. He had a
- 14:46Speaker 2: doctor's appointment or something. So one day he wasn't there
- 14:50Speaker 2: in the morning. Amazing. Just amazing stories from there. You know,
- 14:58Speaker 2: I was talking about this yesterday. These ceremonies every year,
- 15:02Speaker 2: I don't like, I don't like, We're going through this.
- 15:04Speaker 2: I hate reliving it. It's the 25th anniversary, so it'll
- 15:08Speaker 2: be a huge ceremony. And yesterday I said, in Pearl Harbor,
- 15:13Speaker 2: in Hawaii, do they still do this every year? Do
- 15:15Speaker 2: they still put themselves through this every year? It's kind
- 15:18Speaker 2: of painful to relive it. But do they have a
- 15:20Speaker 2: ceremony every year? Do they make a big deal? I
- 15:23Speaker 2: was talking about that yesterday. I actually called people in
- 15:26Speaker 2: Hawaii and asked them. Yes, they do. Every year. It's
- 15:30Speaker 2: a huge event. It's on television. If you're in Hawaii,
- 15:34Speaker 2: it's on all your television stations. Every year, even this year,
- 15:38Speaker 2: it's 85 years later. It's still a massive event there.
- 15:44Speaker 2: And it's quite a ceremony every year in Pearl Harbor.
- 15:49Speaker 2: Believe it or not, Japanese government officials fly over for it,
- 15:53Speaker 2: participate in the ceremony, and give apologies. And it's a
- 15:59Speaker 2: major ceremony every year in Pearl Harbor. And apparently this
- 16:03Speaker 2: will be in December, the first year they do the
- 16:07Speaker 2: ceremony without any survivors there. The last survivor died recently.
- 16:14Speaker 2: Last year they had one survivor there, but they still
- 16:16Speaker 2: do it every year. Hey, we've got a lot to
- 16:18Speaker 2: get to. We'll get to the governor's race. Interesting poll
- 16:22Speaker 2: that just came out. We'll get to Lindsey Clancy and
- 16:24Speaker 2: a whole lot more coming up. Mark Simone here, 9
- 16:28Speaker 2: to noon. It's three hours every day, 9 to noon.
- 16:31Speaker 2: right here on 710WOR. Mark Simone.
- 16:35Speaker 7: Mr.
- 16:35Speaker 2: New York.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 16:44Speaker 2: Hey. Well, there's a new poll out. It's a John
- 16:49Speaker 2: McLaughlin poll, so it's very, very accurate. Very accurate. The
- 16:54Speaker 2: new poll for the governor's race shows Bruce Blakeman closing
- 16:57Speaker 2: the gap. You know, he was something like 25 points
- 17:00Speaker 2: behind when he started the race, but that's okay when
- 17:03Speaker 2: he ran in Nassau County and Nassau County has the
- 17:06Speaker 2: same exact demographics makeup as the state of New York.
- 17:11Speaker 2: He was 25 points behind and he just kept rising
- 17:14Speaker 2: and rising and rising in the polls. And he caught
- 17:17Speaker 2: up and next thing you know, he won and he
- 17:19Speaker 2: won big. So you'll see the same pattern here. He
- 17:23Speaker 2: was 25 points behind when he began and Remember the
- 17:26Speaker 2: last time I told you about this, he was like
- 17:27Speaker 2: 10 points behind. Well, in the latest, Bruce Blakeman is
- 17:31Speaker 2: four points behind. Four points behind with a long way
- 17:34Speaker 2: to go. And remember, the campaign doesn't really begin until now.
- 17:39Speaker 2: It's on in the summer, but it doesn't really start
- 17:41Speaker 2: until after Labor Day. So now you're going to see
- 17:45Speaker 2: Blakeman really pick up steam. He's four points behind, 49
- 17:49Speaker 2: to 47. Pretty amazing. Now, the other thing in this
- 17:54Speaker 2: poll is, More than half the voters, 55%, don't have
- 17:58Speaker 2: a favorable view of Kathy Hochul. And you can understand why.
- 18:04Speaker 2: Majority of voters, 56%, think it's time to give someone
- 18:08Speaker 2: else a chance to do better. There is a 38%
- 18:12Speaker 2: that thinks she's done well as governor. I don't know
- 18:15Speaker 2: who these 38% are, but they're just victims of fake
- 18:21Speaker 2: news and reading the New York Times and... Now, there's
- 18:26Speaker 2: other studies out. These are not as accurate as McLaughlin,
- 18:29Speaker 2: but the Gallup, the Washington Post poll, the media polls
- 18:35Speaker 2: that show that data centers have become an issue. 70%
- 18:40Speaker 2: opposed building these data centers, but it's actually becoming a
- 18:46Speaker 2: midterm issue. Now, the data centers, they make a hell
- 18:50Speaker 2: of a lot of noise if you've got one in
- 18:51Speaker 2: your neighborhood. It's going to make a lot of noise
- 18:54Speaker 2: all night long. These big turbines, it's a noise, a hum, vibration.
- 18:59Speaker 2: You get all that stuff. It's very annoying. It's like
- 19:01Speaker 2: living next to an airport. There's no danger of any
- 19:04Speaker 2: kind from a data center. It's just noisy. They don't
- 19:08Speaker 2: use that much water. They figured out how to recycle water.
- 19:11Speaker 2: So now they don't use that much water anymore. The
- 19:13Speaker 2: electricity problem they've solved. So at some point, they'll solve
- 19:17Speaker 2: the noise problem. In fact, Elon Musk, is building the
- 19:21Speaker 2: biggest data center in the world. And he's working on,
- 19:25Speaker 2: instead of using these conventional turbines and coolers and the
- 19:28Speaker 2: systems they use, building his own. He'll figure out a
- 19:31Speaker 2: way to make them quiet, so that'll solve that problem.
- 19:34Speaker 2: But they've demonized these data centers enough so people treat
- 19:39Speaker 2: them like they're nuclear plants. You remember the same thing
- 19:41Speaker 2: happened with the nuclear plants? And they were yelling and
- 19:44Speaker 2: screaming how dangerous they were. The most dangerous thing, the
- 19:46Speaker 2: nuclear plant, was so dangerous it could kill us all.
- 19:51Speaker 2: It got to the point where Cuomo actually shut down
- 19:54Speaker 2: our Indian Point nuclear plant. The result was your electric
- 19:58Speaker 2: bill went up like 400% because of that. That was 25%
- 20:02Speaker 2: of our electricity. So shutting it down has cost you
- 20:06Speaker 2: a lot of money and was perfectly safe. There was
- 20:09Speaker 2: never a problem, never any threat from Indian Point. You
- 20:14Speaker 2: could argue, well, you have a disposing of the nuclear rods.
- 20:17Speaker 2: That's hazardous. They've got to be transported. Well, they've solved
- 20:20Speaker 2: that problem now, too. There's nothing dangerous about these nuclear plants. Hey, now,
- 20:26Speaker 2: Kathy Hochul, she's seen all these same polls. She sees
- 20:31Speaker 2: she's falling behind. She sees she's likely to lose this race.
- 20:34Speaker 2: So she's panicking. She's announcing all kinds of things. She's
- 20:38Speaker 2: not big with the Jewish community because she's a Mamdani-loving Democrat,
- 20:42Speaker 2: so she's got a problem there. So yesterday she announced
- 20:46Speaker 2: a $ 70 million boost for synagogue security. $ 70 million she's
- 20:53Speaker 2: pledged to increase synagogue security ahead of the Jewish high holidays.
- 20:57Speaker 2: Wait a minute. Let's look at the fine print here.
- 21:03Speaker 2: First of all, it's already 35. She's just adding 35
- 21:06Speaker 2: to it. Also, it's not scheduled. This is for the
- 21:13Speaker 2: 2027 fiscal year budget. So it's not going to start
- 21:17Speaker 2: in time. Hate crimes are through the roof. She mentioned
- 21:21Speaker 2: that she said anti-Semitic incidents are more than half of
- 21:24Speaker 2: the hate crimes for the first time ever. She forgot
- 21:28Speaker 2: to mention that she's one of the people responsible for
- 21:31Speaker 2: it with her support of Mamdani. Nobody has done more
- 21:35Speaker 2: to increase anti-Semitism in Jewish hate crime than Mamdani, and
- 21:39Speaker 2: she just keeps putting her arm around him and embracing him. Hey,
- 21:44Speaker 2: remember we told you yesterday, Prince Charles, King Charles, you've
- 21:48Speaker 2: got to remember, King Charles can't stand Harry and Meghan.
- 21:53Speaker 2: Harry's his son, that's a little different, but obviously he
- 21:56Speaker 2: hates this Meghan. And as long as Harry is married
- 21:59Speaker 2: to this creepy little Meghan Markle, the king is going
- 22:02Speaker 2: to treat them like crap. So as we explained yesterday,
- 22:05Speaker 2: he put out a letter to every inch of the
- 22:09Speaker 2: British government, to everybody. And they made sure to leak
- 22:12Speaker 2: it out to the press. It went to everybody, this
- 22:14Speaker 2: letter from King Charles stating that Harry and Meghan have
- 22:19Speaker 2: nothing to do with the royal family. They have no
- 22:22Speaker 2: connection to the royal family. They are not in any
- 22:27Speaker 2: way part of the royal family, that anything they do, commercial, charitable,
- 22:31Speaker 2: they're doing it as private citizens. It's basically, uh, whispering
- 22:37Speaker 2: to everybody, don't do anything for these people. Don't give
- 22:40Speaker 2: them any work. Don't do anything. Stay the hell away
- 22:42Speaker 2: from them. We have no connection with them. But the reaction, well,
- 22:48Speaker 2: so far there hasn't been any reaction, except the spokesman
- 22:53Speaker 2: for them said they were a little surprised to have
- 22:57Speaker 2: not been told about this. Well, you see, that's another thing.
- 23:01Speaker 2: That makes it sound even worse if their father, King
- 23:04Speaker 2: Charles's father, And her father-in-law, he'd said to them, or
- 23:08Speaker 2: had somebody explain to him, listen, we're going to put
- 23:10Speaker 2: out this letter. We just want to let you know.
- 23:11Speaker 2: So it was not even that courtesy. None of that.
- 23:14Speaker 2: They were caught off guard by it. The couple's team
- 23:18Speaker 2: received the letter, which was pretty bad, just shy of
- 23:22Speaker 2: 2 p.m. U.K. time. It was sent to Harry and
- 23:27Speaker 2: Meghan Markle's team, to every inch of U.S. government, to
- 23:31Speaker 2: the military, to the Lord Lieutenants. And they made sure
- 23:34Speaker 2: to leak it out to the press, really, really trying
- 23:38Speaker 2: to shut down these two and make sure nobody gives
- 23:42Speaker 2: them anything or any courtesy. So they couldn't get anything
- 23:45Speaker 2: going in the United States. They couldn't find any work, anything.
- 23:48Speaker 2: So they left and went back to England. They expect
- 23:51Speaker 2: them to pick up and leave in a few months
- 23:53Speaker 2: after nothing happens. Probably wait till the end of the
- 23:56Speaker 2: school year. They got kids. And then when is that?
- 23:59Speaker 2: In May, June, June. All you other countries in the world, beware.
- 24:04Speaker 2: You might get stuck with these two idiots. Hey, we've
- 24:06Speaker 2: got a lot more to get to. Don't go away.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Never forget, three hours every day, 9 to noon. 9
- 24:11Speaker 2: to noon right here on 710WOR. It's the Mark Simone Show.
- 24:17Speaker 1: Live from the WOR LifeVac studios.
- 24:22Speaker 2: Well, hey, we'll take some calls. 800-321-0710 is the number.
- 24:24Speaker 5: 800-321-0710.
- 24:31Speaker 2: 0-7-10. I remember I told you the Carnegie Deli is
- 24:34Speaker 2: coming back. The Carnegie Deli being built as we speak.
- 24:39Speaker 2: It will not be in its original location. There's some
- 24:41Speaker 2: store there that's taking the lease. But it will reopen
- 24:45Speaker 2: down the street about a block away in what was
- 24:49Speaker 2: the Stage Deli, their arch rival for decades. But so
- 24:53Speaker 2: the Carnegie would be where the Stage Deli was. And
- 24:55Speaker 2: here's the latest news. It will reopen next week. By
- 24:59Speaker 2: the end of next week, it should be open. So
- 25:02Speaker 2: a week from today or tomorrow, Carnegie Deli will be back.
- 25:05Speaker 2: There'll be no reservations. It's just first come, first serve.
- 25:08Speaker 2: There'll be 100 seats in there. The space for the
- 25:12Speaker 2: stage is not as big as the old Carnegie Deli space,
- 25:14Speaker 2: but it'll reopen next week. Hey, also, check out my Instagram.
- 25:22Speaker 2: There's a lot of stuff up there. MarkSimoneNYC at Instagram.
- 25:26Speaker 2: MarkSimoneNYC at Instagram. and make sure you follow me there.
- 25:32Speaker 2: So Iran, listen, I'm looking at the oil prices here.
- 25:37Speaker 2: I'm just checking the price of oil. Now, see, it's
- 25:39Speaker 2: up again. It's up $ 2 today. It's getting high. It's
- 25:44Speaker 2: starting to spike. Price of oil, $ 95 a barrel. It's
- 25:49Speaker 2: going to hit $ 96 in a second, $ 96 a barrel.
- 25:52Speaker 2: That's high. Brent crude, which is the European stuff, we
- 25:56Speaker 2: don't use Brent crude, but Brent crude is at $ 100
- 25:58Speaker 2: a barrel. All right, this is getting high. Now, what
- 26:01Speaker 2: is the reason for this sudden spike? Well, the Strait
- 26:05Speaker 2: of Hormuz has been open for a couple of months now,
- 26:07Speaker 2: and oil is moving through there. Tankers are moving through there.
- 26:11Speaker 2: The government's saying they were moving 9 million barrels a
- 26:14Speaker 2: day and sometimes 15 million barrels a day. Well, a
- 26:18Speaker 2: lot of people now are getting reports that that number
- 26:20Speaker 2: is greatly exaggerated, that they're not actually moving that much
- 26:25Speaker 2: oil through there. That's hard to believe. A government would lie.
- 26:30Speaker 2: It's hard to believe a Trump administration would exaggerate anything,
- 26:34Speaker 2: but word is coming out that we're not actually moving
- 26:38Speaker 2: that much oil through there. So that's the reason for
- 26:40Speaker 2: the spike today. Hey, let's take some calls. 800-321-0710 is
- 26:43Speaker 2: the number. Let's go to Sal in Eastchester. Sal, how
- 26:49Speaker 2: you doing?
- 26:51Speaker 7: Good morning, Mark. Regarding the affordability prices, it's It's the taxes,
- 26:58Speaker 7: the property taxes, the school taxes that are causing the
- 27:01Speaker 7: problems with people being unable to afford a home. My payment.
- 27:06Speaker 2: No, I understand. We've been saying that for weeks. The
- 27:10Speaker 2: number one expense that people pay is taxes. They pay
- 27:12Speaker 2: now more in taxes than they pay in food, in energy.
- 27:17Speaker 2: That's the you're right. And the president, hopefully he'll get
- 27:20Speaker 2: that into the message. The problem with the Republicans right now,
- 27:22Speaker 2: they don't have the messaging solid enough. but affordability crisis
- 27:27Speaker 2: is a big issue. Instead of saying there is no
- 27:29Speaker 2: affordability crisis, point that out, that the number one expense
- 27:34Speaker 2: for most people now is taxes. It's above food costs.
- 27:37Speaker 2: It's above energy costs. Taxes are the number one expense,
- 27:42Speaker 2: and that should be the message, that you don't want
- 27:44Speaker 2: to vote in a party that's going to increase these taxes.
- 27:47Speaker 2: You don't want to vote in a party that's going
- 27:50Speaker 2: to create these taxes. Now, The other thing they should
- 27:53Speaker 2: do is just announce huge tax cuts for everybody. Everybody.
- 27:57Speaker 2: You can do it easily. Just stop wasting money if
- 28:00Speaker 2: you're the government. You don't need to bring in that
- 28:01Speaker 2: much money. Let's go to Mike in Florida. Mike, how
- 28:05Speaker 2: you doing?
- 28:06Speaker 7: Good morning, Mark.
- 28:07Speaker 2: Yes, Mike.
- 28:09Speaker 5: I think Mamdani releasing these files is clearly political. I mean,
- 28:12Speaker 5: it doesn't help that he takes a genius to figure
- 28:14Speaker 5: that part.
- 28:15Speaker 8: Out of it.
- 28:15Speaker 5: But there's two quick things.
- 28:17Speaker 7: One.
- 28:18Speaker 5: I noticed that Governor Pataki announced that he was suffering
- 28:22Speaker 5: some ailment related to the Ground Zero stuff a week ago.
- 28:27Speaker 5: So that was interesting that they kind of coincided, the
- 28:31Speaker 5: two announcements. And the other thing is, and this isn't
- 28:34Speaker 5: just a platitude that Mandani should be reminded of, that
- 28:38Speaker 5: none of these files would be necessary or would exist
- 28:40Speaker 5: if Muslim terrorists didn't fly planes into the towers.
- 28:45Speaker 2: Well, that's true. Yeah, Pataki announcing that he's suffering from
- 28:48Speaker 2: some 9-11 illness, but maybe he knew the files were
- 28:52Speaker 2: coming out. Maybe he wanted to give them something.
- 28:54Speaker 5: That's what I think, yeah. I mean, I'm sure he
- 28:56Speaker 5: knew they existed, obviously. He was the governor.
- 28:59Speaker 2: Yeah, you know what? That's true. The Mamdani administration found
- 29:02Speaker 2: them buried in a basement at City Hall. But you're right.
- 29:07Speaker 2: They must have known.
- 29:08Speaker 7: Yeah.
- 29:09Speaker 2: All right, Mike.
- 29:10Speaker 5: And it's clearly political, especially with guys like Stewart attached
- 29:14Speaker 5: to it, who... I could, uh, you know, do without
- 29:17Speaker 5: as far as.
- 29:18Speaker 2: Uh, he's okay on this. It's one good thing.
- 29:21Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:22Speaker 7: On this issue.
- 29:23Speaker 2: All right. Thanks for calling. Let's go to a line two.
- 29:26Speaker 2: You're on the air line two. How you doing?
- 29:30Speaker 9: Hi, this is Tori.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Hey, Tori.
- 29:32Speaker 9: Um, I'm calling for two things. One, I wanted to
- 29:38Speaker 9: say that, um, I don't understand where all the 9-11
- 29:42Speaker 9: money that was collected for the victims went.
- 29:46Speaker 2: Well, hopefully it went to them.
- 29:49Speaker 6: Yes.
- 29:49Speaker 9: Well, that was my hope, too. But I know that
- 29:52Speaker 9: you were saying before, like, all the people that were
- 29:54Speaker 9: left behind. But I thought we tried to cover all them.
- 29:57Speaker 9: There's commercials all the time for that.
- 30:00Speaker 2: Well, that's that Tunnel to Towers Foundation. They do good work.
- 30:03Speaker 2: They provide homes and stuff for the 9-11 families. Yes.
- 30:08Speaker 9: And the other thing I wanted to say, you were
- 30:10Speaker 9: asking why do we remember, like, do they really remember Hawaii?
- 30:14Speaker 9: And I went to a service once for the Holocaust.
- 30:17Speaker 9: I'm a minister. And on my way there, I was thinking,
- 30:21Speaker 9: why do we do that? And then I got there
- 30:24Speaker 9: and I realized why we do it. Because if we
- 30:26Speaker 9: don't remember the past, We're going to repeat the past.
- 30:31Speaker 2: All right.
- 30:31Speaker 9: You don't remember the people.
- 30:33Speaker 2: That's a good point. Where are you a minister?
- 30:37Speaker 9: In Jackson, New Jersey.
- 30:38Speaker 2: Oh, all right. Well, that's very good.
- 30:41Speaker 5: A great adventure.
- 30:42Speaker 7: All right.
- 30:42Speaker 2: Keep up the good work. Thanks for calling. One more.
- 30:45Speaker 2: Let's go to George in Port Jefferson. George, how are
- 30:48Speaker 2: you doing?
- 30:50Speaker 8: I'm great, Mark. Just to quote your opinion about Andrew Cuomo,
- 30:53Speaker 8: do you think he has any more political.
- 30:55Speaker 2: Future here in the United States?
- 30:57Speaker 5: No, no.
- 30:57Speaker 2: He didn't have any political future two years ago. Nobody
- 31:00Speaker 2: told him. That run for mayor was about the dumbest
- 31:03Speaker 2: thing ever. He had absolutely no chance of winning. Absolutely zero.
- 31:09Speaker 2: He was the most hated guy in New York. Can
- 31:12Speaker 2: you imagine how delusional you have to be? He had
- 31:16Speaker 2: to leave his job in disgrace. He was governor. He
- 31:19Speaker 2: had to leave in disgrace. He fled Albany with the
- 31:21Speaker 2: police chasing him, and he thinks he can run again?
- 31:24Speaker 2: It was insane.
- 31:26Speaker 8: Can I ask one more question?
- 31:28Speaker 2: Okay, go ahead.
- 31:31Speaker 8: I know Curtis. I was a court clerk, so I
- 31:33Speaker 8: know Curtis. I kind of like him. He's kind of
- 31:36Speaker 8: a chop buster. But they really try to blame Curtis.
- 31:39Speaker 8: I'm just making a statement. They really try to blame
- 31:42Speaker 8: Curtis that Cuomo did.
- 31:44Speaker 2: Yeah, no, no. Curtis had nothing to do with it.
- 31:48Speaker 2: If Curtis had never run and he took every vote
- 31:50Speaker 2: he got and gave it to Cuomo, he still lost.
- 31:52Speaker 7: Yeah, but they.
- 31:54Speaker 8: Try to blame Curtis. That's all I want to say.
- 31:55Speaker 8: Thank you.
- 31:56Speaker 2: No, I understand. But if you're a guy like Cuomo,
- 31:58Speaker 2: you always blame somebody else. That's what guys like Cuomo do.
- 32:01Speaker 2: It's never their fault. Again, you can't leave and disgrace
- 32:06Speaker 2: the police are chasing them out of Albany and then
- 32:10Speaker 2: try to run again. It's like Nixon one year after
- 32:13Speaker 2: Watergate trying to run again. You can't do it. Maybe
- 32:16Speaker 2: if you waited 10 years, maybe. And if you did
- 32:19Speaker 2: something wonderful... in those 10 years and redeemed yourself. Maybe
- 32:23Speaker 2: it could run again, but Cuomo, now I give him
- 32:25Speaker 2: credit for one thing. He knows what we've been telling
- 32:28Speaker 2: you for all along. The big donors, when it comes
- 32:31Speaker 2: to politics, the big donors are always wrong. They don't
- 32:35Speaker 2: know what the hell they're doing. And he very carefully,
- 32:38Speaker 2: before this mayoral race, he went around cozying up to
- 32:42Speaker 2: all the big donors, lunches, dinners, becoming their best friend.
- 32:45Speaker 2: He got all the big donors behind him. They gave
- 32:48Speaker 2: him all this money. They're the ones that kept saying,
- 32:50Speaker 2: Curtis can't win. Curtis can't win. And again, always remember,
- 32:53Speaker 2: the big donors when it comes to politics are always wrong.
- 32:57Speaker 2: They always back the wrong guy. They always get it wrong.
- 33:02Speaker 2: They're all brilliant at their own business. They've made billions
- 33:05Speaker 2: in their own business. Not one of them has ever
- 33:08Speaker 2: made a penny giving political advice, and they stink at it. Hey,
- 33:11Speaker 2: we've got a lot more to get to, so don't
- 33:13Speaker 2: go away. Coming up at noon today, Buck and Clay.
- 33:17Speaker 2: They do a great show every day at 12 noon.
- 33:19Speaker 2: The most listened to radio show in America, Sean Hannity. And,
- 33:22Speaker 2: you know, at 9 o'clock, we've got the funniest, liveliest
- 33:26Speaker 2: show on radio. It's Jimmy Fallon every night, 9 to midnight,
- 33:29Speaker 2: on 710WOR.
- 33:32Speaker 4: Mark.
- 33:32Speaker 2: Mark Simone. Mr.
- 33:34Speaker 9: New York.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Now three hours every weekday from 9 till noon on 710WOR.
- 33:41Speaker 2: Yeah, we've got two more hours to go. If you
- 33:43Speaker 2: just tuned in, you missed the first hour. It's 9
- 33:46Speaker 2: to noon every day. And we got a lot to
- 33:49Speaker 2: get to coming up right after the news. It's the
- 33:51Speaker 2: day after the day after Labor Day. Back after the
- 33:55Speaker 2: news on 710WOR.
