- 0:10I found my freedom in you. I found a toy I can't lose, and
- 0:20thank God it's true. You wrapped your arms around me
- 0:24and heaven broke through. From the moment she found me.
- 0:29I found. Welcome to the Four Freedom
- 0:34Podcast. This podcast exists to bring the
- 0:37freedom of the gospel for everyday Christians with
- 0:40everyday issues. Now here are your hosts, James
- 0:44Seyfried and Brett Moore. Welcome back to the Four Freedom
- 0:51Podcast. What a blessing it has been to
- 0:54be away from the mic as much as we've been away.
- 0:57It has been great to be back in the hot seat here with my man
- 1:02Brett. We had our Christmas break, we
- 1:05had our New Year holiday and we had a snowstorm come through the
- 1:10country. It felt like we've got snow on
- 1:12one side of the country and we've got fire on the other side
- 1:15of the country. Arctic temperatures it's been
- 1:20been. I love the cold weather, so it's
- 1:22been great for me and Brett. How was how was your Christmas?
- 1:26How was your new year? How was your snowstorm?
- 1:29Did y'all? Y'all made it through?
- 1:30Everything's good. Yeah, Christmas was great.
- 1:34Everybody got what they wanted, had a good New Year's, had a
- 1:39good time in church. I'll tell you that.
- 1:40The snowstorm, it actually stopped one county above us, so
- 1:45we were right below the line. And so here's the thing about
- 1:50the snow. When they say, well, for us down
- 1:53here, this is the case down here in, in South Central
- 1:57Mississippi. If if they say you're going to
- 2:00get snow, you're not going to get any.
- 2:03And when they say that you're not going to get anything,
- 2:06that's when you're going to get it.
- 2:07So that's how the weather works down here in South Central
- 2:11Mississippi. I love it.
- 2:13That's great. Our our weather guy, Brad
- 2:17Patovich is his name. He was spot on, dude.
- 2:20He was so close. We he was projected in three to
- 2:23six inches from my area. We got like 4 1/2 inches.
- 2:26So he was right in the middle of it and kids loved their
- 2:31Christmas time, had a blessing with just being able to hang out
- 2:36together and be able to open gifts.
- 2:40And I told our kids that when we, when I, when I became a
- 2:44senior pastor, that we would, we'd get a dog.
- 2:50I've been putting this thing off, Brett, as long as I can.
- 2:52And finally, my wife's like, listen, you promised these kids
- 2:56you'd get him a dog, and you ain't got him a dog yet.
- 3:00Kept on, kept on, kept on. Finally we decided that this
- 3:03Christmas we invested in a dog and we got a dog.
- 3:07And so he's running around the house and going crazy.
- 3:11It's a puppy. So he's in his puppy stages
- 3:13right now. And Hudson doesn't quite
- 3:16understand what a puppy is. And so he'll bite him in the arm
- 3:20and he'll smack him in the face and they're just going back and
- 3:23forth. But it's been good.
- 3:26We had a good Christmas. The kids already got a little
- 3:28dirt bike. Hudson got a little electric
- 3:30dirt bike. And so they've been riding and
- 3:33in the snow, man, they had a ball on their dirt bikes out
- 3:36there riding around going crazy. But yeah, it was, it was a good
- 3:40time and had a great, great time together.
- 3:44They got the sled in the snow a little bit.
- 3:45So it's it's been good. Oh yeah?
- 3:49Well, my kids, you know, they're teenagers.
- 3:53And so one thing that we've been putting off is electronic
- 3:56devices because, you know, they, they had, they had didn't grow
- 4:01up with it. I mean, here lately been seeing,
- 4:03we've seen five and six year olds, iPhones and Samsung's.
- 4:07And here my boys are 14 and 16 and the first, you know, they're
- 4:12getting their first, you know, Galaxy phone, Galaxy phones.
- 4:16They both got Galaxies now. They got got them for Christmas.
- 4:20And you know, everything, you know, Santa was was hitting on,
- 4:25you know, was batting it out of the park this year.
- 4:28So everybody, everybody liked what they got.
- 4:31And so Christmas was a good time.
- 4:34And so we are just ready for the new year and what the new year
- 4:38brings. Yeah.
- 4:40Well, Brett, Speaking of the New Year, we got to launch our cigar
- 4:43company and our cigar company is shipping.
- 4:47We have sold several cigars so far.
- 4:50Right now we've got three different lines.
- 4:52We've got the Sweet Elder, which is not shipping yet.
- 4:56It's our sweet cigar and it is going to be shipping soon,
- 5:00waiting on just a couple more samples.
- 5:02We're trying to finalize that exact flavor that we're wanting.
- 5:06We've got the Pastor's Reserve, which is our Maduro and then
- 5:09we've got our Bishop's Blend, which is our our Habano bland
- 5:16and so blend, not bland blend and excited about that.
- 5:20You can go to 69 cigars.com back slash collections back slash for
- 5:27Freedom Cigars, I believe, but we've got links there as well.
- 5:30And excited about this partnership and the ability to
- 5:33be able to brand our own brand and excited about the
- 5:36conversations that we've been able to have through it.
- 5:39And we hope that you'll maybe birthday gift Father's Day is
- 5:43coming up. We'll be running some Father's
- 5:44Day specials. Maybe your dad's a smoker and
- 5:47you want to grab him some, be a great gift for that.
- 5:50And so looking forward to what we've got going on in the future
- 5:53as well. Yes, we, we, we can't say a lot.
- 5:58We're under, you know, we've, we've signed the NDA on some
- 6:01things, but we, we were attached to some really, really big
- 6:06things and we can't say anything but just know it's big.
- 6:11Speaking of big things, Brett got something big coming up in
- 6:14just a couple of days. This comes out in November,
- 6:17November, this comes out January 17th and 3-4 days, three days
- 6:23from when this is releasing. Got something big going on up in
- 6:28DC. What's what's going on up there?
- 6:31Up in DC it. Was it the 7th?
- 6:3417th. Today's the 17th.
- 6:36The 20. Three days from now.
- 6:39Three days from now, we've got something.
- 6:41We've got an incoming president. I thought it was Martin Luther
- 6:44King Day. Oh, what is it?
- 6:47It is. It is also Martin Luther King
- 6:49Day. OK, well, good, good.
- 6:51Well, we we got a new president coming in, right?
- 6:55Kamala Harris is wait a second. Wait a second.
- 6:57No, no, no, not quite there. We got all we got, Trump.
- 7:01Huge, huge coming office. Going to be our president.
- 7:06Was it 45 and 47? 4547 yeah, Trump will be there.
- 7:12You know, as we're talking about politics for just a second, we,
- 7:15we don't normally talk about politics on here.
- 7:17Jimmy Carter passed away during our break.
- 7:21President #4039 maybe I don't, I don't remember what number he
- 7:25was maybe been 40. He passed away at 100 years old.
- 7:30And they did that, that funeral, that service.
- 7:33Trump and Obama were sitting beside each other, which was an
- 7:36interesting picture. Yeah.
- 7:38It was an interesting picture. And then I had the opportunity,
- 7:42Brett, just a couple of days ago.
- 7:45You know, every once in a while you get one of those harebrained
- 7:48ideas. I get them all the time.
- 7:50And I sent a friend of mine a text and just said, hey, I know
- 7:54you have a little bit of a connection.
- 7:57What, what do you think the possibility of me going to the
- 8:01inauguration would be? And he said, well, I may
- 8:06actually have a couple extra tickets.
- 8:08And I said, we'll see if you can get 21 for me and one for my
- 8:11son. And so he texted back the next
- 8:13day and said you should be receiving an e-mail and checked
- 8:17my e-mail there. It was an invitation from Donald
- 8:20Trump and Mr. Vance himself, and they had invited me to the
- 8:27inauguration from the Billy Graham Trump Alliance that they
- 8:32have there. And so I will be at the
- 8:35inauguration on the 20th there in Washington, DC Me and my son
- 8:40are going, we don't get to be part of the the, the hoi polloi
- 8:45that gets to sit on the stage, but we'll be in the field.
- 8:48And in freezing cold weather, it's like 20 degrees, 25°, I
- 8:51think it's the high that day. And so we're going to be a part
- 8:54of the festivities. I've never been to an
- 8:56inauguration before and this is only the second.
- 9:00In a lifetime thing. It is.
- 9:02I was telling my son this. I said, man, it's a once in a
- 9:04lifetime opportunity. And this is only the second time
- 9:06we've ever had a president win to non consecutive terms.
- 9:11Grover Cleveland was the last one and now Trump is is the
- 9:14second one. And so I mean, it's been like
- 9:17150 years since that happened. So it could very well never
- 9:22happen again. But it's an opportunity for me
- 9:27to be able to spend some time with my son, him to be able to
- 9:30witness history, something that he's never for going to forget.
- 9:33And I get to be there. Looking really forward to that.
- 9:38Been planning out some things, been sending out emails to some
- 9:41senators that I know and just trying to hook up while we're
- 9:43there. We're going to go up Sunday
- 9:45night, be there Monday and drive back Monday.
- 9:47So being able to get up with other people may be a little
- 9:50harder, but I do want to definitely spend some time with
- 9:53my son and excited about doing that so.
- 9:56Yeah, and of course you're going to get him on the podcast.
- 9:58Oh yeah, absolutely, 100%. I mean.
- 10:00People think the Joe Rogan interview was something It's
- 10:04nothing compared no to the four freedom podcast where Trump
- 10:07comes on here and talks about freedom in Christ from Galatians
- 10:1051. Absolutely.
- 10:11And I'm sure he's going to call me up to pray during the
- 10:14ceremony. When he gets sworn in, I'll have
- 10:16my Bible there. My Hey James, Hey Man Bible and
- 10:20I. Am such an over preparer that if
- 10:23it was me going I would have a prayer ready to go just in case.
- 10:30You know you never. Know, is that Brett Morton out
- 10:32there? Brett, come on up here and pray
- 10:34for us, brother. Yeah, come on.
- 10:37Yeah. Give us A and I'll tell you.
- 10:38I'll tell you this and this can guy.
- 10:40We want to talk about this anyway.
- 10:43I I am like so ready to go back to Israel.
- 10:50It is just like, you have no idea how bad I want to go, how
- 10:54bad I want to take a trip. And I've said when Trump gets in
- 10:58office, I'm going to give him a couple of months to get this
- 11:04Gaza thing under control. And this is this is something
- 11:08that I've been saying for a while.
- 11:10And so I'm going to give him to March, April to get this thing
- 11:13done. He says he's going to he's going
- 11:14to stop it. He's going to stop the war.
- 11:17And so my thing was, OK, I'll give him the March, April, if by
- 11:23sometime mid-april, he has not fixed it yet.
- 11:27We're going to plan Missionary Paul journey, which we're going
- 11:31to do one day anyway. And so we're going to do
- 11:35Missionary Paul, go to Greece. And so that was the plan.
- 11:39And so I was waiting on that. And then we get news today.
- 11:43I mean, I'm talking, I found this out an hour ago that they
- 11:48have just signed a ceasefire right now for the Gaza conflict.
- 11:54They're releasing like 30 hostages.
- 11:58The Israel is releasing Palestinian hostages and they're
- 12:03releasing about 30 Palestinian hostages for one, for one
- 12:10Israeli hostage or it's not hostage.
- 12:14Israel doesn't take hostage. I misspoke.
- 12:16They're Palestinian prisoners to 1 Israeli hostage and the
- 12:23they're they're releasing the sick, the elderly, the women and
- 12:28about 30 make between 30 or 50. I'm I'm you know, I just found
- 12:33out about it. I so it's between 30 and 50
- 12:36hostages are being released, but this has led to a ceasefire.
- 12:41A6 week 6 ceasefire. This is the first stage.
- 12:45And so we'll see how things go after six weeks.
- 12:48We'll see how, you know, how things progress.
- 12:51It really isn't going to completely be over until all the
- 12:54hostages are free because, you know, Israel, Israel's not going
- 12:59to let up until every single hostage is accounted for.
- 13:03And so, I mean, look, Trump's doing this.
- 13:07He's not even taking office yet. He's already, he's already doing
- 13:10this stuff. So it's amazing what, what Trump
- 13:12can do the man. I am glad that you get to go to
- 13:15that inauguration. That's going to be a great
- 13:17thing. It's going to be a memorable,
- 13:19memorable thing. If I was closer up there, I
- 13:23might, you know, push for tickets for myself.
- 13:26But you know, it's, it's pretty far away from me.
- 13:30But I am glad you get to go. And I can't wait to see to see
- 13:35Trump get into office. And so which by the way, if he
- 13:39gets into office, he gets into office on the 20th, but that's a
- 13:43day late. Day late and the dollar short,
- 13:46my friend. To save TikTok.
- 13:49That's right. Which brings us into our next
- 13:53subject. Topic #2 TikTok and what that
- 13:57means for what's going on here, for the future of that.
- 14:01I actually had a conversation last night at the dinner table
- 14:04with my family about it. They were like, hey, what's
- 14:06going on? What what's then?
- 14:08You know, they know I follow politics pretty well.
- 14:10And I said, well, Congress has passed a law that if, if, if
- 14:16TikTok doesn't change ownerships from their parent company, I
- 14:21don't even remember what the name of the parent company is
- 14:24Bike Dance that is Chinese owned and Chinese ran that it will no
- 14:29longer be downloadable or updatable in North America, in
- 14:35America, in the United States. And that passed in Congress.
- 14:39It passed in the House and Joe Biden signed that into office
- 14:43that it would go take effect January 19th.
- 14:46And the only way this gets reversed is Brett, how does this
- 14:50get reversed? Do you know?
- 14:52Well, we've got a couple of options.
- 14:56It's before the Supreme Court right now.
- 14:58OK, so they have some things that they can do.
- 15:03First thing they can do is they can say, OK, we're going to
- 15:08postpone this. Trump says that he can save the
- 15:11app. So we're going to push this a
- 15:13few months past and give Trump a go at it.
- 15:17The Supreme Court could an option #2 they could say, OK,
- 15:22well, we don't see how this is, you know, hurting national
- 15:26security. And if you listen to their
- 15:28argument, they don't have an issue with directing people's,
- 15:35you know, directing videos to be anti American, directing videos
- 15:40with an agenda. Because like Kavanaugh said,
- 15:43that's what apps do today anyway.
- 15:45Every app, you know, adjusts their algorithm and videos to
- 15:50push a certain agenda. So that's nothing new.
- 15:53Yeah, but their issue is really the data collection that is the,
- 15:57you know, that is the big the big thing.
- 16:00And so. The other big thing is Brett, if
- 16:04if America had an app such as TikTok that was owned by America
- 16:08that we were able to collect data from Chinese individuals or
- 16:12Japan, that app would not be allowed in their country because
- 16:16we would be collecting their data and they would not allow
- 16:19it. So the, the premise of this is,
- 16:22hey, you wouldn't allow this in your country, so we're not going
- 16:24to allow it in our country. Sell your ownership to someone
- 16:28that's going to be able to work well with us because we don't
- 16:30work well with China in that sense of data.
- 16:32And we'll maybe have this conversation, and it's not
- 16:35looking like bike dance is going to do that.
- 16:38Right. And so they could say, OK, well,
- 16:41we agree that it violates First Amendment rights.
- 16:44We're going to we're going to Kick It Out and say that TikTok
- 16:47is OK. Then three, they could, they
- 16:50could say, Oh no, we're just going to agree with it and let
- 16:53the ban go through and it's over.
- 16:55Now, Trump, if they do that, Trump could get in office on the
- 16:5820th and say, okay, we're not going to enforce the law.
- 17:02It's a law, but we're not gonna enforce it.
- 17:05But then that puts a lot of liability on the app.
- 17:07Stores like Google and Apple play in stores because they're
- 17:13still liable. And if one day the government
- 17:15changes their minds, they're gonna get these hefty fines.
- 17:18There's a bill put forth by a senator a couple days ago to
- 17:22kick the can down the road 270 days to give him more of a time
- 17:27to find a solution that would have that bill would have to
- 17:32pass in the next two or three days to save the app.
- 17:35And so there's a lot of options on the table to save the app.
- 17:40So I think there's good applications, there's bad
- 17:42applications for TikTok. And so we're just, we're in the
- 17:46road and we're just waiting to see what happens if, if it can
- 17:50be saved or not. I know that like the world is
- 17:53going to be completely decimated if the RFP TikTok page that I
- 17:58run gets taken down. And so I know I'm going to be
- 18:01devastated. I think that that it's going to
- 18:04be shut down. This is my my James Safer had
- 18:08here. I think that that Trump's not
- 18:11going to have the ability to say we're not going to follow this
- 18:16law once it's signed into law. You can't just say we're not
- 18:19going to follow that law. That's not how laws work.
- 18:22I think Supreme Court it. Shouldn't be how they work?
- 18:25But I think the Supreme Court's going to uphold it because their
- 18:29arguments are so weak. And the Supreme Court's going to
- 18:31have to say, hey, we, we back the other two forms of
- 18:35government, the the legislative and the presidential.
- 18:38So I think they're going to uphold it, which doesn't mean
- 18:42that TikTok will cease to exist. This is what people don't
- 18:45understand. It's going to still be there.
- 18:48It just won't be downloadable. And then as phones and new
- 18:52devices update, you won't be able to put it on new devices
- 18:56and then it won't be accessible on your desktop view.
- 18:59So those are the, the implications.
- 19:01And I don't think I have to look into it because Bertie asked me
- 19:06this question. Will Dad, can you still upload
- 19:08videos and watch videos after it's no longer after it's
- 19:13banned? And I said, I think if it's on
- 19:15your device, just like other apps, you'll still be able to
- 19:18use it. There just won't be any support
- 19:20for it from the App Store anymore, right?
- 19:23And, and all the American companies that that the support
- 19:29and update won't do that anymore.
- 19:31So slowly but surely the app will lose function and it won't
- 19:36work as well and it'll start getting glitchy.
- 19:38But on then on the other hand, byte Dance is saying that the
- 19:41TikTok is saying that if the band goes through, they're just
- 19:44going to shut it off. So there's a chance that it will
- 19:47just go completely dark. Tik Tok's lawyer said that that
- 19:50there there's a chance that the app just could go completely
- 19:53dark. So, you know, hey, you know me.
- 19:57I mean, China wants the, the chicken soup recipe I sent to my
- 20:01aunt the other day. Let him have it as far as I'm
- 20:03concerned. But I but I know there are
- 20:06bigger implications for for data and so you know.
- 20:11But I know you're, I know you're really concerned because you're
- 20:14going to lose your millions of dollars that you get from your
- 20:17views by being the the RFP TikTok guy.
- 20:22I mean all your millions. Are on horseback, man.
- 20:24Yeah, all your million. I mean, you're gonna have to
- 20:26sell your jet plane now. I mean, Jesse, The Planets is
- 20:29gonna have to buy it back from you.
- 20:32Do you know how expensive insurance is on a Lamborghini?
- 20:35I mean, it's just, it's highway robbery.
- 20:38We can't handle this so well. Hey, what?
- 20:41Let's add one more tea in there, Brett, because you mentioned
- 20:44something. We've got Trump, we've got
- 20:46TikTok. We're going to talk about one
- 20:48more in just a minute. But I did a tea thing this oh,
- 20:51this this Christmas, I went out and I bought me one of those.
- 20:55They're Tesla's and I've been driving 1 around.
- 20:59And so I've been enjoying it. It's been fun.
- 21:02It's electric, it's fast, it's crazy the amount of technology
- 21:08that's in it, and it's pretty cool, man.
- 21:11I've always thought they were a cool car.
- 21:14And I, of course, I got it used, didn't buy it new.
- 21:16We don't make that much money as pastors, but I got it.
- 21:20I told Ally sort of what we were paying in gas and I said, hey,
- 21:23if we can find a Tesla for this cost based on what we're paying
- 21:27in gas, I said we would essentially be putting our gas
- 21:30money into a car payment and wouldn't have a gas payment
- 21:33anymore. And in a couple years, once it's
- 21:36paid off, you know, we would be sitting on the plus side versus
- 21:39the negative side. And so we've been looking for
- 21:42about 6 months and one came up on Black Friday, went and looked
- 21:46at it and bought it on that Saturday.
- 21:48And really good home. Mom pop used car dealership
- 21:53there in Conover. And it's been fun.
- 21:55Kids like it. We drove to the beach and back
- 21:57and it was a definitely fun trip.
- 21:59So yeah. Do you do you read The New York
- 22:01Times going down the road? Yeah.
- 22:03Driver's seat, yeah, read the New York.
- 22:06It does have a little camera in there, so you have to actually
- 22:09keep your eyes on the road. You can't look around.
- 22:11Like one time I was sitting there looking at Allie, talking
- 22:14to her and like everything started flashing.
- 22:16Pay attention, pay attention. So is.
- 22:19It weird having the car drive you.
- 22:22It's it's really cool. I actually, so you have to pay
- 22:26for that subscription. They give you like 45 days for
- 22:29free. And then after that it's $100 a
- 22:31month to keep the full self driving.
- 22:33And mine does come with the full self driving.
- 22:35Some of them don't. So for that first 30 days, yeah,
- 22:39I, I put in my destination, hit the, the, the, the, the stick on
- 22:44the steering wheel and it drove me to my destination, pulled
- 22:47into the parking lot or poured into the driveway.
- 22:50And I didn't have to touch the wheel or the gas.
- 22:53It changed lanes. It did everything.
- 22:54It was pretty spectacular during those 30 days.
- 22:58If I knew I was going to be driving a lot like long
- 23:01destinations then I may would pay for that month, but I'm not
- 23:04going to pay $1200 a year to have that function on my car.
- 23:08It has an autos. If I'm going on a long trip,
- 23:11like on vacation, I'd pay for it. 100% yeah, it and it I'm
- 23:15telling like you put it in and it goes it, it stops at charging
- 23:19stations. It does everything for you.
- 23:20You don't have to touch a wheel or the gas or the brake or
- 23:22anything. So it was pretty, it was pretty
- 23:25wild. That's crazy.
- 23:27Speaking of crazy technology, since we're on RTS, what's the
- 23:31last topic we'll talk about before we introduce what we're
- 23:34going to be talking about this this season on the podcast?
- 23:37I don't want to talk about a little bit about tech as in AI
- 23:41tech as in specifically AI in the church, AI in the ministry.
- 23:48AI is a big thing. It's becoming more part of our
- 23:52everyday life. Artificial intelligence is I
- 23:55mean, you've seen some of these big these big rooms with these
- 24:01computers that do this AI for every 4000 words that ChatGPT
- 24:08right to take takes up a gallon of water to put to to cool the
- 24:13computer. And then other people writing
- 24:15novels today, 4000 words is nothing.
- 24:18But there's a lot of applications.
- 24:19Before I get into how I use AII want to ask you, have you ever
- 24:25used AI? Brett I've used Chat GB TGPT
- 24:31maybe 4-5 times total. Every once in a while I'll be
- 24:36playing around and I'll pull it up and throw something in and if
- 24:41I'm trying to alliterate something or or get something
- 24:45right, I may put it in there. But man, it's been 3-4 five
- 24:49times. That's about it to the extent
- 24:52that I've used it. I know some guys are using it
- 24:55every day. I have several guys in my church
- 24:57that work in the tech field that do a lot of coding and they use
- 25:01ChatGPT to help them with a code.
- 25:05If they're trying to find a code instead of searching for it,
- 25:07they can just drop it in and it'll spit out the code they're
- 25:10looking for. One guy who built our website
- 25:14for our church, he used ChatGPT to build the web our website,
- 25:17which was insane and crazy. I haven't I thought about it
- 25:23more I talk to you about it, the more I may may do a little bit
- 25:26of it, but but tell us how you're using ChatGPT and AI and
- 25:31your day-to-day life. So I just started, you know, as
- 25:37most people know, I just started working on my master's to New
- 25:40Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary and one of the first
- 25:43orientation orientation classes that took for one of my classes.
- 25:47He said, look, we don't, we don't want you to use AI to
- 25:53write your research papers, to write your essays and stuff like
- 25:56that. But at the same time, if you
- 26:00don't use it at all, you're gonna get left behind.
- 26:03And so as far as school goes, what I use AI for is I use it to
- 26:08research. I can plug in my syllabus and it
- 26:12can say I need give me 10 sources for this paper, make
- 26:18sure they're free, that I can use online.
- 26:21It'll pop up ten sources that I can use for my paper.
- 26:24They're online, they're free, It gives me the links to every one
- 26:28of them. They meet all the requirements
- 26:30of my syllabus. Once I get done, I don't let it
- 26:32type my paper for me. Then once I get my paper, then
- 26:36I'll take it, I'll plug it in. I was like, check for spelling,
- 26:39grammar, syntax, logical consistencies, whatever else I
- 26:44can think of, check all that for me.
- 26:48And so it's just a really great way to use, you know, AI in that
- 26:53regard. So then I started using AI more
- 26:56for church applications. And I think that this is
- 26:58something that a lot of pastors that they knew about, they would
- 27:01start using. Now, I'm not at all advocating
- 27:05that somebody use AI to write their sermons for them, not at
- 27:08all. But if you want to use ChatGPT
- 27:12to help you research for your sermons, say look, give me, you
- 27:16know, commentaries on this verse, you know, give me, you
- 27:21know, I want to preach on praying in the Holy Spirit.
- 27:26Give me some some information about that.
- 27:29Give me some Bible verses about that.
- 27:31And it can do a lot of research for you.
- 27:34Another thing that I'll do is I'll say, OK, I here's the
- 27:40points of my sermon. Here's the subjects here the
- 27:43verses for each point. Now give me illustrations for
- 27:47each point and they'll pop out sermon illustrations for each
- 27:51one. I might not use those exact
- 27:54sermons, but I mean those exact illustrations.
- 27:57But I'll read the illustration. But you know, something similar
- 28:00like that happened to me in my life.
- 28:02And so then I can use that as a catalyst, as a jumping off point
- 28:06to write my own illustrations that AI kind of gave me, you
- 28:12know, gave me the idea for here's another thing that you
- 28:16can do with AI that I think would be good to help churches
- 28:19help pastors is repurposing your old sermons.
- 28:25So what you can do is you like for me, I manuscript all of my
- 28:29sermons. OK, if you don't manuscript.
- 28:32We talked about this before we started.
- 28:35You can go on YouTube if you post your, your sermons to
- 28:39YouTube and copy and paste the transcript of your, you know,
- 28:44the, the, you know where it says the words, the closed captioning
- 28:51you, you can, you can copy and paste that and use that as well.
- 28:55But I manuscript my sermons. I go to the pulpit with every
- 28:58word that I'm going to say typed out.
- 29:01So then you I take those old sermons and I plug it into
- 29:04ChatGPT and I'll say OK, take this sermon and write me 5 blogs
- 29:11in my voice and that I can post throughout the week and it'll do
- 29:19that. Now these are my sermons that I
- 29:21wrote. So it's not like I'm cheating.
- 29:23It's not like it's writing it for me.
- 29:25Basically it's taking my sermon and it's organizing it into five
- 29:30blogs that I send to our tech guy and he posted them on the
- 29:35church website. And so I've been blog using my
- 29:38old sermons that I preached years ago that I think I will
- 29:41never use again. And I'm repurposing those.
- 29:45I'm turning those into blogs for our church website.
- 29:48Another thing that I do on Monday mornings, I take my
- 29:51manuscript, I plug in and ChatGPT.
- 29:54All right, give me 7 quotes, pull 7 quotes from this sermon
- 29:59that I can post on my Facebook page and it'll pull 7 is of
- 30:03seven of the best quotes from the sermon.
- 30:06I go to Canva which is free and I make like a inspirational
- 30:11Facebook Instagram type post with a, you know, a moon in the
- 30:16background or mountain or something.
- 30:18Just like a inspirational quote that you post on Facebook.
- 30:22Put our church logo and address on it and post it on Facebook.
- 30:27And so from blogging to writing inspirational quotes, it has a
- 30:31lot of applications. I'll give you one more
- 30:33application that I use it for. I'm writing a book.
- 30:37And what I'm doing is, you know that a lot of people say take
- 30:41your old sermon series and turn them into a book.
- 30:43And that's what I'm trying to do.
- 30:45I want to do a little booklet on marriage.
- 30:47And So what I'm doing is I'm taking an old sermon series that
- 30:50I preached on marriage and I'm using AI to help convert that
- 30:56sermon into the chapters for this new booklet that I'm that
- 31:00I'm typing. It's my words, it's still my
- 31:03voice, it's my point, it's my research, but it's organizing it
- 31:07into a book format for me, saving me so much time, so much
- 31:12effort. And I think it's just, it's
- 31:15something that we really need to look into.
- 31:19You know, we don't need to be like, oh, well, that's not how
- 31:22my grandpa used to do it. So we're not going to use AI
- 31:25because that's not how they did it back in the 1950s.
- 31:28No, no, we're, we're, we're we're free to use these tools.
- 31:32These are here. There's nothing wrong with using
- 31:35them. You know, there's nothing wrong
- 31:37with taking an iPad to the if there's nothing wrong with
- 31:40taking an iPad to the pulpit, there's nothing wrong with using
- 31:43AI to help you in your research. Now, I will say once again,
- 31:48don't let AI write your sermons for you at all.
- 31:52But using it as a tool, a research tool, a tool to help
- 31:56you do some of these other other things to save you some time.
- 31:59I don't think there's anything wrong with that at all.
- 32:02Yeah, I love it. That's great.
- 32:03Great thoughts and things I haven't even thought of.
- 32:06Often times we do get stuck in doing things a certain way.
- 32:10You know, I know some of these big time preacher men back in
- 32:14the day, they would have research assistants and they'd
- 32:16say, hey, I need you to research this passage.
- 32:19And you're basically just outsourcing that person to an AI
- 32:23program that's doing the same thing a whole lot quicker than
- 32:26what that person's going to do. So it is saving you time and
- 32:29effort. And again, it's, it's your work,
- 32:31it's your, your, your background of all that and love that.
- 32:37Thank you for sharing that, Brett, and sharing what you've
- 32:40done and, and ways that you're using technology to further the
- 32:44gospel ultimately and provide freedom for those who have been
- 32:47struggling. And it's been been great to to
- 32:50hear that and to see that. And I do see your blogs and I've
- 32:54been following those online. I was wondering how you did
- 32:56that. So it's good to know.
- 32:58Maybe I'll steal some of those ideas and use them for myself,
- 33:02but love that. Last thing that we'll talk about
- 33:05before we sign off is our upcoming season.
- 33:08We'll be starting next week and man, we are excited about what
- 33:12we've got coming up. We are going to be talking about
- 33:14wokeness in the church, what that means, how that's defined.
- 33:19We've got some different topics that we're going to bring it on.
- 33:22We're going to bring our old founding host back, John for a a
- 33:26victimhood episode. Been woke in victimhood and
- 33:30victim blaming and hurt in the church.
- 33:33And so he's going to come on and talk through that and we'll be
- 33:36talking through several different issues.
- 33:38But next week, hopefully you'll TuneIn and maybe share some of
- 33:41these ideas because often times some of these new fandangled
- 33:45words like woke and other things get mistranslated or misdefined
- 33:50over the years. And so we wanted to find that
- 33:53and what that means and what that looks like.
- 33:55And then we're going to be looking at two different sources
- 33:58that talk about wokeness in the church and begin to talk through
- 34:02that, begin to look through it and really dive deep over the
- 34:06next probably 8 or 10 weeks, maybe even longer than that on
- 34:11different issues that have gone woke in the church.
- 34:14And so man, we're really excited about that and hopefully you'll
- 34:17be tuning into us. And again, if you want to
- 34:20purchase some cigars from us, we'd love for you to try some of
- 34:23those. If you ever have any questions
- 34:25for us, feel free to reach out to us on our social medias and
- 34:29we would love to talk with you. Brett, any final words from you,
- 34:32my friend? No.
- 34:34Just I'm looking forward, I'm, you know, looking forward to
- 34:40this series mean you kind of put our heads together and come up
- 34:43with this. I think it's really relevant.
- 34:45I think it's something that needs to be talked about, people
- 34:49afraid to talk about it. We don't need to be afraid to
- 34:52talk about it. You know, we don't need to be
- 34:54afraid to talk about controversial subject,
- 34:57especially if they affect the gospel.
- 34:59And these subjects are becoming the center of our culture.
- 35:03You know, we, we, we, we need to, you know, stay awake to the
- 35:07gospel, not woke to the culture. And so it's really needed and
- 35:12I'm looking forward to it. Absolutely.
- 35:15Well, until next time to God. Not the pastor.
- 35:19Be the glory. Found my new name, found that
- 35:23good grace, found that healing. And the tears fell down my face
- 35:28when I found my beginning has no ending.
- 35:32From that second chance, from my best friend, from my
- 35:34forgiveness, from my happiness. I've been singing ever since
