- 0:00Speaker 1: Chapter sixteen pleasure. He who gives himself to vanity and
- 0:07Speaker 1: does not give himself to meditation forgetting the real aim
- 0:12Speaker 1: of life and grasping at pleasure, will in time envy
- 0:17Speaker 1: him who has exerted himself in meditation. Let no man
- 0:23Speaker 1: ever look for what is pleasant or what is unpleasant.
- 0:29Speaker 1: Not to see what is pleasant is pain, and it
- 0:32Speaker 1: is pain to see what is unpleasant. Let therefore no
- 0:40Speaker 1: man love anything. Loss of the beloved is evil. Those
- 0:46Speaker 1: who love nothing and hate nothing have no fetters. From
- 0:54Speaker 1: pleasure comes grief. From pleasure comes fear. He who is
- 0:59Speaker 1: free from pleasure knows neither grief nor fear. From affection
- 1:06Speaker 1: comes grief. From affection comes fear. He who is free
- 1:12Speaker 1: from affection knows neither grief nor fear. From lust comes grief.
- 1:20Speaker 1: From lust comes fear. He who is free from lust
- 1:26Speaker 1: knows neither grief nor fear. From love comes grief. From
- 1:33Speaker 1: love comes fear. He who is free from love knows
- 1:38Speaker 1: neither grief nor fear. From greed comes grief. From greed
- 1:46Speaker 1: comes fear. He who is free from greed knows neither
- 1:52Speaker 1: grief nor fear. He who possesses virtue and intelligence, who
- 1:59Speaker 1: is just, speaks the truth, and does what is his
- 2:04Speaker 1: own business. Him the world will hold dear. He in
- 2:12Speaker 1: whom a desire for the ineffable Nirvana has sprung up,
- 2:17Speaker 1: who is satisfied in his mind, and whose thoughts are
- 2:21Speaker 1: not bewildered by love. He is calderdamstrotas carried upwards by
- 2:28Speaker 1: the stream Kinsman. Friends and lovers salute a man who
- 2:36Speaker 1: has been long away and returns safe from afar in
- 2:42Speaker 1: like manner. His good works receive him, who has done
- 2:46Speaker 1: good and has gone from this world to the other,
- 2:51Speaker 1: as Kinsman receive a friend on his return. End of
- 2:57Speaker 1: chapter sixteen.
