- 0:02Speaker 1: Here's your host, Alex Garrett. All right, well, here at
- 0:07Speaker 1: the One Leg Up Alex Media Center, it is a
- 0:11Speaker 1: week away from Election Day, and as I've said, you
- 0:16Speaker 1: should get out and vote. How you vote, I'm not
- 0:19Speaker 1: going to persuade you. However, Bruce Blakeman has helped people
- 0:22Speaker 1: with disabilities in restoring the games for the physically challenged
- 0:27Speaker 1: every year. And I just... I feel like he's a
- 0:33Speaker 1: better candidate and a better fit. I think he went downstate,
- 0:37Speaker 1: so we'll have to see. But yeah, I would say
- 0:39Speaker 1: Bruce Blakeman is who you should vote for if you're
- 0:42Speaker 1: going to get out of the polls, as you should.
- 0:45Speaker 1: And I really do believe the midterms cannot go to
- 0:49Speaker 1: the far left. That is very strong a feeling as that.
- 0:55Speaker 1: But I want to say I found this AMNY story,
- 1:01Speaker 1: AM New York story titled Ballot Bullying. Now, sometimes I
- 1:05Speaker 1: do national, sometimes I do local. And there are reports
- 1:09Speaker 1: of door-to-door federal probes this election cycle, meaning, according to
- 1:15Speaker 1: Dean Moses of AM New York, armed Homeland Security officers
- 1:21Speaker 1: have reportedly been knocking on doors across the country, questioning
- 1:25Speaker 1: residents about their immigration status as well as voter eligibility,
- 1:30Speaker 1: And there have been now accusations of voter intimidation and
- 1:34Speaker 1: fears among New Yorkers that similar tactics could soon reach
- 1:37Speaker 1: their neighborhoods. DHS says they're investigating voter fraud as the
- 1:43Speaker 1: midterms loom, stating on October 23rd, the federal agency has
- 1:48Speaker 1: said it cuffed 10 green card holders and one person
- 1:52Speaker 1: they describe as an illegal alien in North Carolina, as
- 1:56Speaker 1: well as California, by the way, and as citizens. and
- 1:59Speaker 1: casting ballots in the Tar Heel State during previous elections.
- 2:06Speaker 1: DOJ also arrested a Syracuse woman in races for the
- 2:09Speaker 1: United States Senate and the United States House of Representatives.
- 2:15Speaker 1: She voted in them illegally. And, look, I do want
- 2:22Speaker 1: voter integrity. I want election integrity. But I don't think
- 2:27Speaker 1: it comes banging on the door of somebody and scaring
- 2:33Speaker 1: the crap out of them. That is truly Gestapo tactics.
- 2:39Speaker 1: That isn't American tactics. That isn't American at all. I
- 2:46Speaker 1: get pissed off when the IRS starts knocking on doors
- 2:49Speaker 1: and I'll get pissed off when the DHS knocks on
- 2:54Speaker 1: doors to try and see If voters are legal. It's simple.
- 2:59Speaker 1: It's simple. You do the ID check at the polls.
- 3:05Speaker 1: And maybe DHS is doing this because there's no ID
- 3:08Speaker 1: check at the polls. Maybe that's what it's about. Now,
- 3:14Speaker 1: it is amazing that according to CBS News, less than
- 3:17Speaker 1: 200 people have been charged with voting fraud related offenses.
- 3:20Speaker 1: That's one too many. That's actually 200 too many. AM
- 3:26Speaker 1: New York says less than, but I think 200 people
- 3:28Speaker 1: or less charged with voting fraud is still enough to
- 3:34Speaker 1: sway elections. You know, you could say 227 million voters
- 3:37Speaker 1: registered in America, but under 200, that's still enough to
- 3:43Speaker 1: sway elections, I believe. And it's not for voter integrity.
- 3:52Speaker 1: And they say ice going door to door could be
- 3:55Speaker 1: a reality in the Big Apple. I mean, this is...
- 4:06Speaker 1: This is intimidation to not go to the polls. And
- 4:10Speaker 1: I don't like that either. I don't want to see
- 4:20Speaker 1: People dragged out of their homes to see if they
- 4:22Speaker 1: can vote or not. That is not how you do it.
- 4:27Speaker 1: You instead focus on winning the midterm so that maybe
- 4:30Speaker 1: you have. Maybe you have. Laws in place through Congress
- 4:39Speaker 1: to ensure election integrity. Not. banging on doors saying, hey,
- 4:50Speaker 1: are you legal to vote? We're going to check you
- 4:51Speaker 1: right now. And I would presume and hope that if
- 5:02Speaker 1: there is voter fraud, that it's picked up on. Now,
- 5:05Speaker 1: you look at New Jersey and you look at what
- 5:08Speaker 1: happened last year. There was what? 600,000 or so votes
- 5:12Speaker 1: that were not real votes. And Mikey Schauer had to
- 5:18Speaker 1: report that. But oh, by the way, she maintains being
- 5:21Speaker 1: governor over Jack Chiarelli. If you knew there was fraud
- 5:25Speaker 1: in that New Jersey governor election, I haven't talked about
- 5:27Speaker 1: this yet. But if you knew there was any fraud
- 5:30Speaker 1: in that New Jersey governor election, the integrity would be
- 5:35Speaker 1: to redo the election. Do it the right way. Those 600,000
- 5:43Speaker 1: votes could mean Jack Chiarelli is supposed to be governor
- 5:46Speaker 1: right now. nearly a year later. It could mean Mikey
- 5:54Speaker 1: Sherrill should have done a re-election, re-count, or whatever you
- 5:58Speaker 1: want to call it. Because maybe she's not supposed to
- 6:02Speaker 1: be governor right now. Just like maybe, unfortunately, there are
- 6:07Speaker 1: some that are going to get voted this year that
- 6:09Speaker 1: may not be the actual winners because of fraud. If
- 6:19Speaker 1: you want to check ID at the voter places, even
- 6:22Speaker 1: if you're DHS, even if you're ICE, that should be fine.
- 6:26Speaker 1: But to knock on doors and intimidate legal voters, even
- 6:36Speaker 1: if they're suspected, but they find it legal, that's not
- 6:39Speaker 1: how you win elections. You want to intimidate your voting class,
- 6:49Speaker 1: then just call yourself authoritarian because that is not how
- 6:52Speaker 1: America runs. America is you freely get to go to
- 6:56Speaker 1: the polls and vote. America is you should be ID'd
- 6:59Speaker 1: at the polls at the same time to make sure
- 7:02Speaker 1: your vote is legal. But I am bothered by this story.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Co-director of Make the Road Action in New York, Daniel Coates,
- 7:12Speaker 1: told AM New York he believes these types of investigations
- 7:14Speaker 1: are not about ruling out criminal activity. but focused on
- 7:18Speaker 1: intimidation of the voter. He calls voter fraud a non-issue,
- 7:27Speaker 1: saying this new tactic is yet another desperate attempt to
- 7:29Speaker 1: use fear to suppress the vote in immigrant communities by
- 7:32Speaker 1: an administration bent on hanging on to power. Coats will
- 7:40Speaker 1: now say, with the midterm elections less than two weeks away,
- 7:42Speaker 1: we are connecting with voters across New York to ensure
- 7:45Speaker 1: they understand what's at stake know their rights, and have
- 7:48Speaker 1: the tools they need before they hit the polls. The
- 7:51Speaker 1: right to vote is sacred, and I'm not taking away
- 7:53Speaker 1: from that, Daniel. And our communities are ready to use
- 7:55Speaker 1: it and protect it. Jumaane Williams, public advocate, says he
- 8:03Speaker 1: expects more acts of intimidation on October 3rd as it
- 8:06Speaker 1: creeps closer. I'm not disagreeing with the left here. This
- 8:11Speaker 1: is intimidation. I'm not disagreeing that this is wrong. Because
- 8:24Speaker 1: who wants to live in a country where you're dragged
- 8:27Speaker 1: out of your house and then check to see if
- 8:30Speaker 1: you're legal? Who wants to live in a country that
- 8:40Speaker 1: I don't know. That won't even ID you at the
- 8:47Speaker 1: polling place. To begin with. There's that too. I want
- 8:53Speaker 1: to live in a country where all our votes are
- 8:55Speaker 1: counted legally. Okay I do. I want voter integrity as
- 8:58Speaker 1: badly as anybody. But knocking on people's doors. Pulling them
- 9:05Speaker 1: out of their homes. Is not the answer to this issue.
- 9:11Speaker 1: It's not. If I'm the GOP. Amidst a crazy election
- 9:16Speaker 1: cycle right now, you focus on getting the votes cast,
- 9:23Speaker 1: encouraging people to go out and vote, vote red, and
- 9:28Speaker 1: overcome the blue wave. Not knock on doors saying, hey,
- 9:32Speaker 1: are you legal? That's bad. That's bad. And you know
- 9:36Speaker 1: why I say that? Because also the immigrant community might
- 9:40Speaker 1: actually vote Republicans. There is a rising population that is
- 9:48Speaker 1: voting Republican turnout after turnout after turnout after turnout. Because
- 9:57Speaker 1: they see how bad the left is getting. So now
- 10:01Speaker 1: you're going to intimidate those immigrants from voting, which they
- 10:05Speaker 1: might actually vote for you because they've come from countries
- 10:08Speaker 1: of suppression and oppression. And they've come from socialist countries
- 10:12Speaker 1: and communist countries. They came here to avoid this bull crap.
- 10:22Speaker 1: They came here to avoid this bull crap. To literally say.
- 10:28Speaker 1: We are Americans. Or we want to live in America now.
- 10:45Speaker 1: And whatever they did already. I'm sure the DHS has
- 10:47Speaker 1: right to do. But to do it. door to door
- 10:51Speaker 1: knocking on doors like this asking about immigration status and
- 11:00Speaker 1: voter eligibility that's not the American way you do things
- 11:06Speaker 1: Trump administration DHS Secretary Mark Wayne Mullins that's not how
- 11:12Speaker 1: you do things you investigate First, with the intel you have,
- 11:22Speaker 1: and then you make the arrest. That's what you're going
- 11:26Speaker 1: to do. You can't knock on doors. That's about as
- 11:30Speaker 1: when they're petitioning for your vote, and you have the
- 11:32Speaker 1: people knocking on doors for petition votes and signing petitions.
- 11:40Speaker 1: So this tactic, this strategy has to change a week
- 11:45Speaker 1: out from the midterms, November 3rd, go to the polls,
- 11:52Speaker 1: I would say, and look, I'm all for law enforcement,
- 11:59Speaker 1: but this kind of law enforcement, I'm against. I would
- 12:05Speaker 1: ask for a warrant. Do they have the right to
- 12:07Speaker 1: search the person's immigration history or legal history? That's what
- 12:14Speaker 1: I would do. That's the fair thing to do. Not
- 12:19Speaker 1: beat up an ICE officer or a DHS officer because
- 12:22Speaker 1: they are law enforcement. And you should not ever attack
- 12:26Speaker 1: a police officer of any stripe. But you should ask them,
- 12:31Speaker 1: do you have a warrant to check my eligibility? And
- 12:34Speaker 1: if they don't, politely say, no. We want to rid
- 12:43Speaker 1: voter fraud. I absolutely agree. But knocking on doors, intimidating...
- 12:49Speaker 1: In an election year, you might actually get the immigrant vote,
- 12:52Speaker 1: as I said a couple minutes ago. That's the way
- 12:55Speaker 1: you go. You don't go this tactical route. That does
- 13:01Speaker 1: remind me of the Gestapo. Because that's not American. And
- 13:06Speaker 1: that will knock it out, the vote. And that will
- 13:09Speaker 1: really accelerate the far left's control of the Senate and
- 13:16Speaker 1: the House if these tactics keep going on. Because you'll
- 13:20Speaker 1: deter the vote. We want to bring out the vote
- 13:24Speaker 1: and stop the madness that's about to hit our Capitol.
- 13:28Speaker 1: Not bring it on. Not bring it on. And that's
- 13:32Speaker 1: my message at One Leg Up Alex Media.
