- 0:38welcome and thank you.

- 0:47the words welcome back because I really do

- 0:54So the weekly master topic, as you know,

- 0:58show 29, and then we go from one
- 1:01to seven, obviously, from Saturday to Friday.
- 1:03And that is how to understand this, and
- 1:07that is how to grow through every season.
- 1:11And it's about building a life that creates
- 1:13lasting results, how to prepare your mind for
- 1:16opportunities, which is today's granular series five, show
- 1:2029, episode number two.
- 1:22So welcome, everyone, to Inspirations for Your Life.
- 1:25I am John C.
- 1:26Morley, serial entrepreneur, engineer, marketing specialist, video producer,
- 1:32podcast host, coach, keynote speaker, graduate student at
- 1:38Montclair State University, a passionate lifelong learner, and
- 1:42now so grateful to be a published author.
- 1:46Yes, great to be with you.
- 1:47Before we actually jump into today's episode, something
- 1:50we do on Sundays and Thursdays, we started
- 1:53doing about a month ago, I'd like to
- 1:55give a special shout out to our friends
- 1:57at Sultan Bakery and Cafe that recently opened
- 2:01not too long ago at 321 Valley Road.
- 2:05I believe there was another bakery there before
- 2:08that had been there for many years.
- 2:09That's 321 Valley Road in Wayne.
- 2:12It was also called the Valley Brook Shopping
- 2:14Center, I believe.
- 2:15And if you're looking for authentic Turkish pastries,
- 2:20Artesian coffee, handcrafted desserts, fresh baked breads, or
- 2:25an incredible traditional Turkish breakfast, you can stop
- 2:29there and experience what they have to offer.
- 2:32And Sultan Bakery is not new.
- 2:35They were also in Patterson, but now they
- 2:37have a location in Wayne.
- 2:38And the cafe has started to build a
- 2:41great reputation for quality, hospitality, and delicious food
- 2:44that's made fresh every day.
- 2:47So if you own a restaurant, a cafe,
- 2:49a bakery, a small business, a library, community
- 2:51organization, or another unique venue and would like
- 2:55inspirations for your life to record a live
- 2:59show from your location, we'd love to hear
- 3:02from you.
- 3:03All you need to do is visit jcmacademy
- 3:05.com.
- 3:06Click on the Contact Us button in the
- 3:08far right hand of the website.
- 3:11Tell us about your venue, and we may

- 3:18show.
- 3:19It's free, 50 minutes for the setup.
- 3:22The show is about 27 minutes and change.
- 3:24Then after the show, we have a brief
- 3:26Q&A of my brand new book, Drain
- 3:28to Driven, and then a 50-minute Q
- 3:29&A, and then after that, author signing.
- 3:33So yeah, it's a great place to help
- 3:36build some great community and be part of
- 3:38an amazing show, which we're now almost at
- 3:41our fifth year.
- 3:42We're a little over four and a half
- 3:46years now.
- 3:46And our thanks again to Salton Bakery and
- 3:48Cafe for basically opening their doors and for
- 3:54sharing some great information.
- 3:57And now let's get inspired and on with
- 3:59today's show.
- 4:00Thank you so much for joining me for
- 4:02another amazing episode of The Inspirations for Your
- 4:05Life, where I explore practical ideas that help
- 4:08us grow stronger, think wiser, and become the
- 4:11very best version of ourselves.
- 4:14Opportunity rarely arrives with advance notice.
- 4:18More often than not, it appears when we
- 4:21least expect it.
- 4:22The question isn't whether opportunity will come.
- 4:25The real question is whether we'll be prepared
- 4:28when it does.
- 4:30Today, we're going to discover how preparing your
- 4:33mind every single day positions you to recognize
- 4:37opportunities that others may never even have noticed.
- 4:41They've been there your whole life.
- 4:43Number one, opportunity favors preparation.
- 4:46Success rarely surprises prepared people.
- 4:50They invest in themselves long before opportunity appears.
- 4:54And preparation gives confidence, ladies and gentlemen, when
- 4:57the moment finally arrives.
- 5:00Are you ready for number two?
- 5:02I know you are.
- 5:02Number two is another great one.
- 5:04Learn before you lead.
- 5:06Great leaders never stop learning.
- 5:09The more knowledge you gain, the better equipped
- 5:12you become to help others.
- 5:15Leadership begins with personal growth.
- 5:18And I think that's important.
- 5:20As I said to you, you have to
- 5:24put the time in.
- 5:25You have to learn before you can grow.
- 5:28Number three, curiosity creates growth.
- 5:32Curious people continue asking questions throughout life.
- 5:36Every answer expands understanding and creates new possibilities.
- 5:41Growth starts with a willingness to learn.
- 5:45Number four, guys, every lesson has value.
- 5:48Not every lesson feels enjoyable while you're experiencing
- 5:52it.
- 5:53Some of the life's lessons and greatest teachers
- 5:56arrive disguised as challenges that sometimes we want
- 5:59to walk away from.
- 6:00Every experience contributes to your development.
- 6:04Number five, keep developing your skills.
- 6:07Skills are investments that continue paying dividends, like
- 6:11compounded interest in the bank.
- 6:13The stronger your abilities become, the more opportunities
- 6:16naturally appear in your life.
- 6:18Never, never, never stop improving your life.
- 6:22Number six, your mindset shapes your future.
- 6:26The way you think influences the way you
- 6:29act.
- 6:30Positive thinking creates better decisions and stronger habits.
- 6:36Your future begins in your mind.
- 6:39Yes.
- 6:40Number seven, learning is important, guys.
- 6:44Learning is so very important, but a very
- 6:46unique type of learning.
- 6:47Learning from every experience.
- 6:49Because you see, success teaches valuable lessons, but
- 6:52failure often teaches even more.
- 6:55Every experience contains wisdom.
- 6:56If you're willing to look for it, nothing
- 6:58is truly wasted.
- 7:00Number eight, challenges teach resilience.
- 7:04Growth often begins outside your comfort zone.
- 7:07Difficult situations strengthen your confidence and prepare you
- 7:12for greater responsibilities.
- 7:15Every challenge builds character.
- 7:18Okay.
- 7:19Number nine, growth requires humility.
- 7:22Humility allows us to admit there's always something
- 7:26new for us to learn.
- 7:28Pride often blocks progress because it assumes there's
- 7:33nothing left to improve.
- 7:35Stay humble your whole life and keep growing.
- 7:38And when you're humble, not only will you
- 7:40grow, but other people will want to help
- 7:42you too.
- 7:43And I think that's a very important thing
- 7:46to understand, is that it can work that
- 7:50way.
- 7:52And I think if people understand that, then
- 7:55you'll be like, oh, wait a minute.
- 7:56I actually get that.
- 7:57I actually understand how that's working or now
- 7:59why that's working.
- 8:00I think that's a very important thing for
- 8:03us to acknowledge.
- 8:05Number 10, guys, stay teachable.
- 8:08The most successful people remain lifelong students, even
- 8:14after they've left school.
- 8:15Every conversation, book, and experience can teach something
- 8:19valuable.
- 8:21A teachable spirit keeps your mind expanding.
- 8:26And a lot of people say, you know
- 8:27what?
- 8:27I'm done with school.
- 8:28I've learned everything I need to learn.
- 8:29But that's not going to help you grow
- 8:31in life.
- 8:32That's going to help you to basically shut
- 8:35off humility.
- 8:36When we shut off humility, guess what happens?
- 8:39We don't learn anymore and nobody wants to
- 8:41teach us anymore.
- 8:43Number 11, knowledge creates confidence.
- 8:47Preparation reduces uncertainty.
- 8:49The more you learn, the more comfortable you
- 8:52become facing unfamiliar situations.
- 8:56Confidence grows from understanding.
- 8:59It grows from understanding.
- 9:01Number 12, better thinking creates better results.
- 9:05You've heard this phrase before.
- 9:07Ask better questions, you'll get better answers.
- 9:10Same thing.
- 9:12Improving your thinking improves your decisions.
- 9:19Better decisions consistently produce better outcomes.
- 9:25Success starts with clear thinking.
- 9:29Number 13, improvement never ends.
- 9:32There's always another level to reach.
- 9:35Personal growth is not a destination, guys, but
- 9:37it's a lifelong journey.
- 9:39Keep challenging yourself to become better every day.
- 9:42Number 14, practice builds excellence.
- 9:46Practice builds excellence.
- 9:48Nobody masters a skill overnight.
- 9:52Excellence develops through repetition, patience, and continual improvement.
- 10:00Practice transforms potential into performance.
- 10:05But I don't want you to think that
- 10:06that's going to come overnight because it's not
- 10:08going to come overnight.
- 10:08And I don't want you to be discouraged
- 10:10when it doesn't show up overnight.
- 10:13I think that's a thing that a lot
- 10:15of us need to realize.
- 10:17It is a exercise in practice, humility, listening,
- 10:29and just being in the moment.
- 10:32Number 15, guys, invest in yourself daily.
- 10:38The greatest investment you'll ever make is in
- 10:43your own growth.
- 10:44Time spent learning, reading, practicing, and improving always
- 10:49produces lasting returns.
- 10:51Your future self will thank you, even if
- 10:54your current self is saying, oh, I want
- 10:55to scream, right?
- 10:57I said that life is going to be,
- 11:00as I said, uncomfortable at times.
- 11:04But that's the key to having us grow.
- 11:09That's the key to having us grow.
- 11:12I think that's important for us to know,
- 11:18important for us to be aware of.
- 11:22And there can't be any rush.
- 11:24Everything has to happen in its own time.
- 11:27Number 16, experience becomes wisdom.
- 11:32Experience teaches lessons that books alone cannot even
- 11:36begin to start with.
- 11:38Every success and every mistake adds another layer
- 11:41of understanding.
- 11:44Wisdom grows as you apply what you've learned
- 11:48to the future and how you can, let's
- 11:53say, harness those great opportunities.
- 11:57I'm not going to say they're just going
- 11:59to fall in your lap, but I'm going
- 12:01to say that they're going to be there.
- 12:03Okay?
- 12:04They're going to be there because you're putting
- 12:09out the effort.
- 12:16That's important.
- 12:18Number 17, every setback teaches something.
- 12:25Every setback teaches something.
- 12:37Does that make sense to you?
- 12:42And maybe that can help you understand.
- 12:47See, disappointments often become life's greatest classrooms.
- 12:52Every obstacle reveals a lesson that strengthens your
- 12:56future decisions.
- 12:58Learn the lesson instead of dwelling on the
- 13:02setback, right?
- 13:04Don't throw everything away.
- 13:06Just throw away.
- 13:07You could throw away what hurt, but remember
- 13:11the lesson.
- 13:12Remember the lesson.
- 13:15Number 18, guys.
- 13:16Number 18 is a very, very powerful one.
- 13:19Learning creates opportunity.
- 13:22Opportunity.
- 13:23The more you know, the more possibilities you
- 13:26begin to recognize.
- 13:28Learning opens doors that remain invisible to those
- 13:31who stop growing.
- 13:33Education expands opportunity.
- 13:36That's important, right?
- 13:38The more that we do that, the more
- 13:40that we can reach new areas of our
- 13:46lives.
- 13:46We could tap into new potentials.
- 13:48Potentials that we didn't even think were possible.
- 13:51Number 19, expand your perspective.
- 13:55Seeing life from different viewpoints improves your understanding.
- 14:00New perspectives create better ideas and stronger solutions.
- 14:04Growth begins when your thinking expands.
- 14:08When your thinking expands.
- 14:12When your thinking expands.
- 14:16And it's up to you to decide, is
- 14:19my thinking going to expand today, or tomorrow,
- 14:23or never?
- 14:23You see, we have free will, so that's
- 14:26totally up to us whether we're going to
- 14:28expand or not.
- 14:29We have the ability to, but it doesn't
- 14:32mean that we're going to expand.
- 14:38It doesn't mean we're going to.
- 14:40We have to want to expand.
- 14:43We have to want to expand in our
- 14:45life.
- 14:45That's a very key thing.
- 14:53Very key thing.
- 15:00And maybe once we've started to learn one
- 15:03lesson, it becomes easier.
- 15:09Number 20, curiosity fuels innovation.
- 15:14Innovation starts with someone asking, what if?
- 15:18How about?
- 15:20We might try.
- 15:22Curious minds challenge assumptions and discover better ways
- 15:26of doing things.
- 15:27Never lose your desire to explore.
- 15:31Keeps us young, but also keeps us innovative.
- 15:34Keeps us growing in life.
- 15:36I think that's a very powerful thing when
- 15:39we can understand that we can go back
- 15:40to the drawing board anytime in our life,
- 15:43not just when we start.
- 15:45And we've got to be humble about going
- 15:46back to the drawing board.
- 15:47Not just doing it one thing.
- 15:49All right, I went back to the drawing
- 15:50board now.
- 15:51I can't do anything.
- 15:54Number 21, read more.
- 15:57Books allow you to learn from people across
- 16:00generations and industries.
- 16:03Every page contains ideas that can improve your
- 16:06thinking and your future.
- 16:08And reading is one of the greatest investments
- 16:11you can make.
- 16:13Okay, also listen to podcasts like this.
- 16:17Listen to other audiobooks.
- 16:19You don't have to just read anymore.
- 16:22Reading is the old colloquial term, but we
- 16:26can still do other things to transfer knowledge.
- 16:31You know, take part in demonstrations, doing things,
- 16:36right?
- 16:37Number 22, ask better questions.
- 16:41Great questions often produce great answers.
- 16:45Instead of assuming you know everything, become genuine.
- 16:51Interested in learning more.
- 16:55Curiosity has this unique spark to begin a
- 17:00very unique part of our life by allowing
- 17:03us to harness thoughtful questions that might have
- 17:07not even existed before.
- 17:12They were right under your nose.
- 17:14It's just you were not paying attention to
- 17:16those things.
- 17:17I think that's an important thing.
- 17:21I think that's a very important thing.
- 17:23But I'm not going to tell you that
- 17:26it's like flipping a light switch on and
- 17:28suddenly bam, it works.
- 17:32I know I forgot to tell you guys
- 17:34today if you are thirsty and you're hungry,
- 17:35if you would go grab something real quick
- 17:37and come back.
- 17:37I forgot to tell you that didn't need
- 17:39to show today.
- 17:39I always tell you I have my RO
- 17:40water here and my lemon.
- 17:43I don't want anybody to be parched or
- 17:45hungry here.
- 17:48Learn to develop critical thinking.
- 17:53Information is everywhere in our universe.
- 17:55But wisdom requires evaluation.
- 17:59Learn to analyze, question, and verify what you
- 18:02hear before accepting it as a truth.
- 18:08So don't accept everything that's out there.
- 18:11Ask yourself some questions.
- 18:13Analyze a little bit.
- 18:15Strong thinking leads to better decisions.
- 18:18And guess what better decisions do?
- 18:20They help us grow.
- 18:22You know when we grow and we learn
- 18:25new information, guess what happens?
- 18:27We cross a threshold.
- 18:33One that we never thought was there or
- 18:36that we even believed was possible to cross.
- 18:40But suddenly we gain that confidence because now
- 18:44we have new knowledge.
- 18:46And then what we thought was impossible, right,
- 18:51now becomes very possible.
- 18:55Number 24, growth requires reflection.
- 18:59Learning isn't complete until you reflect on the
- 19:03experience.
- 19:04It's not just listening and hoping that you
- 19:07transfer knowledge or doing route learning.
- 19:10No.
- 19:11Taking time to evaluate your progress helps identify
- 19:15strengths and areas for improvement.
- 19:19Reflection turns experience into wisdom.
- 19:25Now, again, that doesn't sound that typical.
- 19:28And it's not.
- 19:29But when we make the choices to do
- 19:32it, we create this very unique connection in
- 19:40our brains.
- 19:43We allow more pathways to be created from
- 19:48one side to the other.
- 19:51And thus, there's more ways to get information
- 19:54from one side to the other.
- 19:58Number 25, guys, better habits build better lives.
- 20:04Success is rarely the result of one decision.
- 20:08It's built through consistent daily habits that gradually
- 20:11shape your character and your future.
- 20:16Small habits create remarkable outcomes.
- 20:23Something small.
- 20:24It doesn't have to be big, guys.
- 20:28Consistency and structure is the key to success.
- 20:30Number 26, stay open to change.
- 20:36The world continues to morph and evolve, whether
- 20:39we're ready for it or not.
- 20:41Remaining flexible in our bodies, we have a
- 20:45word for this, neuroplasticity, allows you to adapt,
- 20:48grow, and recognize opportunities that others overlook.
- 20:53Growth requires an open mind.
- 20:55Again, the body we call neuroplasticity.
- 20:58The fact that the brain can be reprogrammed,
- 21:01that our body can learn different ways.
- 21:03It doesn't have to do things the way
- 21:05that it was once shown, or the program
- 21:09that was loaded to us by someone else,
- 21:12whether a stranger or someone we know.
- 21:16Number 27, guys, knowledge compounds, just like the
- 21:19interest in your bank account.
- 21:20Everything you learn builds upon what you already
- 21:23know.
- 21:24That's why it's important to latch learning on
- 21:28things we already know.
- 21:28When we do that, guys, guess what happens?
- 21:31It becomes easier.
- 21:32We link things to a foundation, right?
- 21:36Think about a puzzle.
- 21:37When you started something and you have edges,
- 21:41it's a lot easier to connect things to
- 21:43edges now that you have a base, right?
- 21:46One lesson leads to another, creating momentum that
- 21:51accelerates your personal growth.
- 21:55Knowledge becomes increasingly valuable over time, over time.
- 22:02It might seem like we're not doing anything,
- 22:04but the truth of the matter is you're
- 22:05doing more than you even thought was possible.
- 22:09Number 28, think beyond today.
- 22:12Short-term thinking often limits long-term success.
- 22:15Looking beyond today's challenges helps you make decisions
- 22:19that creates a stronger future.
- 22:22Now, vision always reaches farther than the present
- 22:27moment, so don't get discouraged if you're not
- 22:32where you want to be.
- 22:33Don't get discouraged.
- 22:38Do not get discouraged.
- 22:40That is a big, big key, and that's
- 22:48something I feel a lot of people miss.
- 22:49Number 29, learning is a lifelong advantage.
- 22:55Graduation is never the end of education.
- 22:58Every day offers another opportunity to improve your
- 23:02knowledge, skills, and perspectives.
- 23:05Lifelong learners remain prepared for whatever comes next.
- 23:10Number 30, prepared people recognize opportunities.
- 23:15Opportunities often appear quietly rather than dramatically.
- 23:19Those who have invested in themselves are ready
- 23:22to recognize and seize it when others hesitate.
- 23:28You remember the saying, opportunity may only knock
- 23:32once.
- 23:34The door to opportunity might be there, and
- 23:38although you might see the door again, that
- 23:41door may be locked the next time you
- 23:43see it.
- 23:45Preparation transforms possibilities into achievement.
- 23:53In closing, as we conclude today's episode, first
- 23:58thing I want to, again, is that shout
- 24:00out to Sultan Bakery, Sultan Artisan Bakery, that's
- 24:05located, the bakery cafe is located in Wayne,
- 24:11New Jersey.
- 24:12It's Sultan Bakery and Cafe.

- 24:18New Jersey, and they have a variety of

- 24:57And to conclude today's episode, remember that opportunity
- 24:59rarely appears without warning, because it has been
- 25:04preparing you all along.
- 25:07Every book you've read, every podcast, every lecture,
- 25:17every demonstration, every skill you practiced, every challenge
- 25:21you've overcome, and every lesson you've learned has
- 25:26been building the person you're becoming.
- 25:31It might've been small, right?
- 25:33But it was happening over time.
- 25:38Growth is not about reaching a point where
- 25:41you know everything.
- 25:43No, it's about developing a mindset that never
- 25:47stops learning.
- 25:48I learned this in college when I got
- 25:50back as a graduate student.
- 25:54They said, John, don't try to learn everything.
- 25:56The goal of graduate school is to learn
- 25:59a little bit more and be more diverse
- 26:02in many areas.
- 26:03Sometimes I take a course and that book
- 26:07would cover seven, let's say, courses.
- 26:12They're like, we're only covering one course in
- 26:14this class, but it could house another six
- 26:18other courses.
- 26:20We want you to just get more diverse
- 26:21in the topic nature.
- 26:24Ladies and gentlemen, please continue investing yourself every
- 26:27single day.
- 26:28Stay curious, ask thoughtful questions.
- 26:33Embrace new experiences and remain humble enough to
- 26:40keep learning from everyone around you.
- 26:46The opportunities you hope to find tomorrow are
- 26:54often created by the preparation you choose today.
