- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Tape where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the Three O Tape
- 0:16presented by A SeatGeek. This is episode 464.
- 0:19I'll be your host, Kyle Corwin, and I'm here with my Co host
- 0:20Nate Reyes. Nate, hello.
- 0:27Just going to, I'm just going to get this out of the way, give my
- 0:31Amanda a round of applause here. I'm proud of you.
- 0:36That's a good dub. I'm not.
- 0:38I'm not going to sit here and and and whine about my team
- 0:42laying an egg because I don't think it would have mattered.
- 0:44Your team put up some crazy numbers in fantasy these last
- 0:48two weeks. So you're going to end at what,
- 0:51660 averaging 330 points per. I mean, that's big.
- 0:58That's, that's, that's a big time performance.
- 1:01So I'm not even going to sit here and say I lost.
- 1:03I, I think it's because you just outright beat me.
- 1:06This wasn't just because my team laid an egg.
- 1:09So Congrats, Sir. Good luck in the ship.
- 1:13And I mentioned this in the group chat.
- 1:16My, my attention is now shifted to to fantasy football.
- 1:21That's when I say now it's probably been the last week or
- 1:26so. It was.
- 1:30It was ugly quick. It got ugly quick.
- 1:32I appreciate it. Thank you.
- 1:34I I wasn't even going to say anything unless you brought it
- 1:36up. No, it was, it was a good, good
- 1:38fought match up. I've accepted my fate for the
- 1:41last. I mean, it's, it's a slow death,
- 1:43but it feels, it feels better this way, I think, especially
- 1:49coming into a recording. I mean, we had like a week last
- 1:52two week matchups in the play in the in the playoffs of the three
- 1:55O take fantasy league. And when I saw you, you had
- 1:58Freddy Freeman on the bench with like a week left.
- 2:00I was like, he's checked out. Well, what's pissing me off is
- 2:03that they've been going day-to-day with him, like, and
- 2:06then he would like randomly be written in the lineup after my
- 2:12infielder was already played a morning game.
- 2:14And I'm like, all right, well, if this is how it's going to go
- 2:18and George Kirby, you're dead to me.
- 2:21I will never speak anything positive about you ever again.
- 2:26That's it. That's all I got.
- 2:27Or or find yourself on Nate's fantasy team.
- 2:30Ever, ever again. Yeah, it was.
- 2:35It's a good fight, good battle. But on to the championship.
- 2:38And I'm going to try for my first ever crown in fantasy
- 2:42baseball. Have yet to win.
- 2:43We've been doing this league for some time now.
- 2:45Have yet to win. So this this might be my shot.
- 2:47This might be my only my only chance.
- 2:50Need it? We'll see.
- 2:51Need it. We'll see.
- 2:54Speaking of the crane, Yeah, maybe like that.
- 2:57Like that. Thank you.
- 2:59Thank you. Speaking of the crown, there's a
- 3:05particular pitcher who is in pursuit of the Triple Crown, and
- 3:12he's also in the middle or might even say wrapping up the
- 3:18American League Cy Young race. There's some names in the mix,
- 3:23but I think I think it's safe to say this individual is leading
- 3:29the way. But there has been a a massive
- 3:33swell as of late for what I believe will be the candidate
- 3:40that's going to give him the best, the best run for his
- 3:42money. And we are talking about Tariq
- 3:44Scubble. Terek, Terek.
- 3:47Scubble I knew I'd do that and. I like Tariq more personally.
- 3:51I mean, if I'm, if I'm Terek Scubble, I'm honestly, I'm kind
- 3:54of going Tariq, if I'm being honest with you.
- 3:56Yeah, Terek Scubble and Emmanuel Class A.
- 4:02It seems as though Corbin Burns has has, has fallen from grace.
- 4:07I don't know if he's necessarily in the hunt.
- 4:10It's been a a brutal, brutal might be a little strong, but
- 4:13it's been a somewhat ugly month as of as of today.
- 4:18So as it stands right now, I think it's between Tarek Schuble
- 4:24and Emmanuel Class A are are what do you think, Nate?
- 4:26Are we given the are we given the nod to the starter?
- 4:29Are we given the nod to the closer, both of whom have been
- 4:34completely dominant in their respective roles?
- 4:39I mean, Emmanuel class AI don't know if you've seen he has an
- 4:42ERA plus of 589 as of right now. I don't even know what that
- 4:47means. Like I I don't know.
- 4:49I don't even know logically how to make how I can make sense of
- 4:52an ERA plus of 589. I didn't one I didn't know that
- 4:55was possible too. Don't quite know how he even
- 4:59achieved that mark. But here we are 7 whip.
- 5:06That's different dude. Running through some numbers
- 5:10here, entering entering September, Terry Skubal has made
- 5:1727 starts, 168 and a third and in T16 and four leads all of
- 5:22baseball with sixteen wins I believe, right?
- 5:25No, the American League or all of baseball.
- 5:30All of baseball I'm. Going to say all of baseball.
- 5:31I think it's all baseball. Not that it was a barometer
- 5:34anymore. Not that it matters what when it
- 5:36comes to the Triple Crown, ERA of a 251 and ERA plus A166 leads
- 5:42all of baseball and strikeouts and has AK percentage of 30.3 as
- 5:50well as a WAR of 5.8. So as I mentioned, leads all
- 5:54baseball 16 wins. Leads all a baseball with an ERA
- 5:56of 251. Leads all a baseball with 201
- 5:59strikeouts. And he'll probably have, what,
- 6:05four more starts, right? Yeah, he made his start on
- 6:10Saturday. Went 8 innings, allowed four
- 6:12hits, 1 earned run, zero walks and eight clay. 8K's an absolute
- 6:17master classroom from school. 3232 starts as a full is a full
- 6:25year, right? That's a heck of that's a heck
- 6:27of a campaign right there. I think.
- 6:29With what he's been able to do and and how he's been able to
- 6:32maintain it. Yeah, those are, those are
- 6:34important numbers for me. I, I think health is, is a big
- 6:38factor and especially in today's game on the mound.
- 6:43So I, I, I, I'm giving edge there.
- 6:49I love that we're over. We're north of 200 strikeouts.
- 6:53That's, you know, that's rare nowadays.
- 6:56And we're going to again, get in that 200 inning range, which I
- 7:03can appreciate as well. After, after four or five more
- 7:06starts, I think he'll be pretty close.
- 7:10That to me is impressive. That's me is very impressive.
- 7:17I love what Class A is doing. Don't get me wrong.
- 7:21I love what's happening over there.
- 7:25I I can we can we just is there a, is there a reliever award?
- 7:31There is a reliever award. I mean, it used to be, wasn't
- 7:36it? Or no, that was still a Pigeon
- 7:37award. It was the Rolaids.
- 7:39I was going to say, was that for?
- 7:40Specific. It was a Rolaids reliever.
- 7:42Yeah. Can we?
- 7:43Relief Rolaids Relief Man Award. Can we name, can we name that
- 7:48after MO? Can we just name AI mean we we
- 7:52like naming awards after guys. Cy Young is after a guy, Hank
- 7:56Aaron. Roll A, the Roll A's Relief Man
- 7:59Award, was an annual MLB award given from 1976 to 2012 to the
- 8:04top relief pitchers of the regular season.
- 8:06Does it say what it's called now?
- 8:09Do they just stop doing it? That's really weird.
- 8:17Well, I do. I do know that we've like
- 8:19started to get into the the football model, like first team,
- 8:24all pro kind of thing. I got you, which I do like by
- 8:28the way. I'm a fan of that.
- 8:29According to Wikipedia, the greatest source of information
- 8:32and the most accurate source of information that you can find on
- 8:34the Internet. In 2013, Sanofi acquired Roll
- 8:41AIDS from Johnson and Johnson. So Rollins is dead, is what
- 8:46you're saying? McNeil Consumer Healthcare and
- 8:51the award was cancelled. So we just got rid of the award
- 8:55because we lost the sponsor. That's what you're telling.
- 8:57Money talks, baby, Money talks. That's crazy.
- 9:01All right, let's get a Let's get a Let's get a MO award going for
- 9:06the relievers. All right, let me.
- 9:09Speaking of, Speaking of reliever, Speaking of MO,
- 9:12Speaking of, well, we haven't mentioned his name yet, but a
- 9:14guy that comes to mind for me is Edgar Martinez.
- 9:16It's to me, it's a similar, it's a similar conversation because I
- 9:21I instinctively want to jump the gun here and say look at the
- 9:27body work that Tarek School has been been putting forth this
- 9:30year. How do you not give it to a guy
- 9:32that's out there every fifth day notching 678?
- 9:36I don't know, sometimes 9 innings, Yeah.
- 9:40How do you not give the how do you not give the Sai Young to
- 9:42that guy? But it goes back to the
- 9:45conversation that that you and I had when Edgar Edgar Martinez
- 9:49was on the cusp of or he was on the brink.
- 9:53I would say possibly there's a threat that he wouldn't make the
- 9:56Hall of Fame. I guess, given the nature of his
- 9:59position and the conversation that took place between us as
- 10:03well as a lot of other people is it's part of the game.
- 10:07Like how, how do you punish the guy for succeeding and and and
- 10:12thriving in a position that is a part of the game and that is an
- 10:19institution of the game? Sure.
- 10:23It's not Class A's fault that the that the closer role exists.
- 10:28He just fits into that role, does it very, very well and puts
- 10:32up numbers, like I said, that don't even make sense.
- 10:35He has an ERA plus a 589. How'd that make sense?
- 10:38Don't even know. He just recorded his 40th save
- 10:40of the season over the weekend, which also gave him the career
- 10:46franchise record for Cleveland, 149.
- 10:49And I think he's only what, like 26?
- 10:51So it just. Speaks 3rd, 3rd consecutive 40
- 10:55save season. I mean that that's stupid.
- 10:57Have you seen the comps by the way between him and MO?
- 11:02Like at this point in his career.
- 11:03At this point of his career and, and if you just look at if you
- 11:07compare career rates and I know it's different, MO's longevity
- 11:12far exceeds what class. A19 years is yeah, it's stupid,
- 11:19but. Yeah, like his, I think his
- 11:22strikeout at, at this stage, his strikeout rate is higher, his
- 11:26walk rate is lower. There was a couple other metrics
- 11:32there that I think Class A has the current edge over Mariano.
- 11:37Just just for a frame of reference for Mariano cracked 40
- 11:42saves 9 times in his career and two of those seasons went over
- 11:4750 saves. So it's just that's what that's
- 11:54what the best ever at that position means.
- 11:57And he's on his way. Like he's he's trending.
- 12:01Like what can you say Class A is trending?
- 12:04And not to discredit anything Mariano's done, but we have to
- 12:07remember class AS has a whole month of baseball left and he's
- 12:12pitching. He's pitching for a team that's
- 12:14currently in the hunt and giving him opportunities to get these
- 12:18saves and to put up these numbers and to and to add to
- 12:22this body of work that again, mathematically just doesn't seem
- 12:25to make sense. Like that's the kind of season
- 12:27we're looking at for Class A. But on the flip side.
- 12:35It's it's just hard. Yeah, yeah, it's really hard for
- 12:40me to go go away from that and more so this year than like any
- 12:45other year, you know what I mean?
- 12:48I I just love like you, you putting your foot on the ground
- 12:57and saying like I'm showing up every day this year, I'm making
- 13:02every start. It's just as important when we
- 13:06see when we see shortstops playing, you know, 155 plus
- 13:13games, like that's a big deal nowadays.
- 13:16It shouldn't be, but it is. And especially with what we've
- 13:21seen like with the arm injuries and for him to do this and not
- 13:25just show up every day, but also being dominant.
- 13:30And I think if you were to ask majority of the of the names and
- 13:36the majority of the hitters across the league, they would
- 13:38probably say it's Google's the toughest AB right now.
- 13:43And it's no knock against Class A, but let's face it, a save is
- 13:49is typically just three outs. You know what I mean?
- 13:52Well, well, I mean, let's not, let's not discredit the I'm not
- 13:56even. Going to tear him down, but like
- 13:58that's the argument like you, what we're having to do is value
- 14:01a starting pitcher versus a closer like that's.
- 14:04No, I yeah, I agree. You know what I mean?
- 14:06I agree but like just to say it's 3 outs like it.
- 14:08It's widely accepted that the last three outs are the toughest
- 14:12in the game to get and I think you and I would both agree
- 14:14there. But to to the people that are
- 14:20are trying to state their case for scuba by just saying, well,
- 14:24we don't care about your guy that comes out and faces three
- 14:26batters every few nights. It's like, well.
- 14:29He's throwing more often. I mean, I get that there's pros
- 14:33and cons each one, you know what I mean?
- 14:35There's there's arguments for each side.
- 14:37I just, I think it's, I think it's a lot it, it holds a lot
- 14:44more water in my mind as a starter specifically this year.
- 14:48I mean, the fact of the matter is, is, is that they're both.
- 14:51I mean, I think we can, we can all agree that the awards are
- 14:57influenced heavily by recency bias.
- 15:00What have you done for me lately?
- 15:01What have you done for me down the stretch?
- 15:03This is true too. I mean, we're talking about that
- 15:05with, with the, the National League Rookie of the Year
- 15:07conversation with, with what Jackson Merrill's been doing and
- 15:10how he's just seemingly vaulted his way up the, the, the
- 15:14leaderboard there. They're both showing up right
- 15:17now. Like Class A has just been
- 15:18lights out scuba. I mean, just looking at his last
- 15:23last five games, So going back roughly a month. 7 innings, 2
- 15:30earned runs, 9K6 innings, 1 earned run, 9K6 innings, 1
- 15:36earned run, 5 KS. 5 innings, 3 earned runs, eight KS.
- 15:40And then, as I mentioned over the weekend against the Red Sox,
- 15:438 innings, 1 earned run, 8 KS. Yeah, see, like that one, that
- 15:4715 inning start with three earned runs and eight KS is kind
- 15:50of a clunker for his standard, which is nuts because that's
- 15:55still is that's still a quality start, right, No 6.
- 16:00Yeah, I got to go 6. But the fact that he's putting
- 16:02up 8 KS over 5 innings, I mean, they are both showing up and
- 16:08they're both, they're making it impossible for that to be a
- 16:11factor, for that to be a part of the conversation.
- 16:13It's like, OK, well, who's they're both having great years,
- 16:16but who's who's who's shown up lately?
- 16:18They both have. And the fact that the guard, as
- 16:21I mentioned, the fact that the Guardians are, are playing the
- 16:23way that they've been playing all year, the fact that Klase is
- 16:26certainly been a part of their success, a huge reason for that.
- 16:31It it's, it really just comes down to the conversation of
- 16:34starter versus closer because the numbers, respectively, are
- 16:39top of the game. Yeah, both league leading in
- 16:42their categories. It's just, it's really hard to
- 16:46compare those two. And that's what I'm saying is
- 16:48that like I, I think we need like a reliever award.
- 16:52I I think it needs to hold just as much weight as a Cy Young
- 16:55like not that the Rolaids are out.
- 16:58Like can we create a new award without a sponsorship in in make
- 17:04it mean something, because this this season should mean
- 17:07something for Class A not winning the Cy Young potentially
- 17:12should shouldn't be awardless season.
- 17:16In my mind, dominant fun to watch and just I'm he's must see
- 17:25TV in the in the postseason. It's going to be you're going to
- 17:28be glued. It's already, you know, the back
- 17:30end of a ball game. But goodness, dude.
- 17:35I know they say, I know they say pitching wins championships, and
- 17:38I would, I would tend to agree. But there's something especially
- 17:41sweet about a team having an established closer in the
- 17:45postseason. Yeah, and having him come in to
- 17:48lock down your ball games without a question of who it
- 17:51might be that comes through that door.
- 17:54Right. Like it's just get to that, get
- 17:56to that, you know what I'm saying?
- 17:58Like that's your goal. You're up by three or less.
- 18:03You're in the 9th inning of a postseason game.
- 18:06You know a manual Class A is coming into the game.
- 18:08And say what you will about flexibility closer by committee,
- 18:14the fact that the Guardians have a manual Class A to look at and
- 18:17to and to rely on that that's worth its weight in gold.
- 18:22You, you you can't, you can't beat that feeling or that
- 18:25security in the postseason. Like you may, yeah, if you got
- 18:29some big, you got some big boppers, they may, they may lean
- 18:33into a couple in a given, in a given series.
- 18:35But to know that you have that guy, to your point, Nate, just
- 18:39get to that guy and it's it's lights out.
- 18:42It's game over that I mean. I mean, it's, it's to the point
- 18:44where now you're you're playing AN8AN88IN game.
- 18:49If you're the other team, you only have 8 innings, you know
- 18:50what I'm saying? And but you talk about how how
- 18:53well they've pitched across the board, across the roster.
- 18:58Like if you can turn this, if you can turn a postseason game
- 19:01into a six or seven inning game realistically with dominance on
- 19:05the back end. This is what I was talking
- 19:07about, dude. Like the Guardians make me
- 19:09nervous. If you're a fan of an AL team
- 19:13and you're in the postseason hunt, you should be nervous
- 19:17about the Cleveland Guardians because now they're swinging it
- 19:20and everything we've seen the last few years has just been
- 19:23pitching and then they get to the postseason.
- 19:25The bats don't show up. Now they're swinging it and
- 19:28they're like really swinging it. It's not just hanging middle of
- 19:31the pack. They got dudes that are leading
- 19:34leagues so look out. You still going school though?
- 19:43I still got to go school. I still got to go if you get me,
- 19:46if you get me 200 innings and 200 strikeouts in an ERA under
- 19:50three, that to me is pretty much the blueprint to a Cy Young year
- 19:58last time. At this rate, he may get to 250
- 20:01strikeouts. It's very possible, but the last
- 20:05thing I'll say on it, I, I, I think it's not I, I don't want
- 20:08to call it an unfair advantage, but I think the thing that
- 20:10school has working for him is the expectation was there at the
- 20:15start of the season, people were, were were putting him.
- 20:18Also, that was my preseason pitch, so I got to, I got to
- 20:20keep riding that. Exactly, but it's like you and
- 20:23and other people as well. We're already putting him in
- 20:27that conversation to to my confusion.
- 20:30I I, I go back to what I said it.
- 20:32I just feel like he kind of came up out of nowhere in the in the
- 20:35sight on conversation, specifically ahead of the 2024
- 20:40season. I was like, I mean, he's
- 20:42throwing it well, but like, are we really going to just catapult
- 20:44him to the, to the forefront or, you know, near the front of that
- 20:48conversation and he's lived up to it.
- 20:50So the fact that he was already, he was already in the
- 20:54conversation before the year even started and he's been able
- 20:57to ride that out and and perform to that level to that
- 21:00expectation, I feel like only furthers his case.
- 21:03I mean, not that not that we need to take pre season
- 21:06predictions in the into account or or pre season awards into
- 21:09account, but the fact that he's been able to do what he's done
- 21:14under these expectations has been impressive.
- 21:18So yeah, I would probably have to go school as well.
- 21:20As dominant as Class A has been, and not to discredit his role as
- 21:23a closer because I think as much as baseball wants to change the
- 21:28the way they value certain roles when it comes to pitching, I
- 21:32still think having as an established lockdown closer is
- 21:36invaluable. However, I think what Scuba has
- 21:40been able to do over the course of an entire season, staying
- 21:44consistently healthy and putting together the body work that he's
- 21:47done is is extremely impressive and his kept the Tigers in the
- 21:54conversation. I mean he's almost accounted for
- 21:561/4 of their wins this season. Yeah, well, let me ask you this.
- 22:00If he does stumble, if we throw two or three more clunkers into
- 22:05this and Class A gets so gets north of 45 saves and keeps
- 22:12doing what he's been doing, I think it's AI think it's a more
- 22:15difficult conversation. I mean, I think it's a difficult
- 22:21conversation now. I think you're right.
- 22:23I think it gets more difficult. But I think, I think if it pans
- 22:26out that way, if Scooble, who if Scooble slides in September and
- 22:32and Class A continues to to light it up.
- 22:37Because you made a good you made a good argument at the beginning
- 22:40is that like the guardians are still very much in it and the
- 22:43tigers are definitely fading. So it's.
- 22:46Still in it technically, but. They're they're just running out
- 22:50of days on the calendar and the Guardians are going to continue
- 22:53to have those opportunities. Class A is going to continue to
- 22:58have those opportunities. It's going to be interesting.
- 23:03You know who's not going to have those opportunities?
- 23:12Who? Chicago White Sox.
- 23:14Oh man, wrapped up, wrapped up the weekend.
- 23:19Well, not technically. If you want to count Monday as
- 23:21the weekend, Shout out, Labor Day, shout out, big day, shout
- 23:25out. Americans wanting a a a well
- 23:27earned day off from from their labor.
- 23:29Big day wrapped up the traditional weekend.
- 23:34We'll call it setting their franchise record in losses.
- 23:39They currently sit at 31 and 107.
- 23:44They broke the the record, the franchise record that was set
- 23:48back in 1970 when they lost 106. Don't forget, though, if you're
- 23:58wondering like how bad can this White Sox team possibly be, we
- 24:04still have a whole month left. Yeah.
- 24:06They're currently on pace. I got I got some I got some
- 24:08Nuggets here for you. They are on pace.
- 24:16Let's see, on pace for 36. This is this is according to the
- 24:20Bennett Kay on Twitter. White Sox are now 31 and 107,
- 24:23which is a win percentage of 225.
- 24:26They're now on pace for 36.39 wins.
- 24:30They are OK. So if they go 8 and 16 to finish
- 24:35out the season, that'll be a winning percentage of 333, which
- 24:39will give them the fewest wins in the MLB expansion era, which
- 24:42is from 1961 on. Come on, need it.
- 24:46If they go 9 and 15, that will give them the worst winning
- 24:51percentage in the expand in OK, yeah, I'm sorry, 8 and 16,
- 24:57that'll give them the fewest wins in the in the expansion
- 25:00era. And if they go 9 and 15, that
- 25:02will give them the worst winning percentage in the expansion era.
- 25:05And if they go 11 and 13, that would be the worst record in the
- 25:0921st century. Yeah.
- 25:12So we really, I mean, let's just keep it under 40 wins, you know,
- 25:19just for a nice number that's like a nice target, let's just
- 25:23keep that under 40 dubs. That sounds backwards.
- 25:27It does sound backwards. Now that I look at.
- 25:28That I didn't want to stop you, but it did sound bad.
- 25:30The Bennett K what are you doing to me here?
- 25:32I, I I I assume that this was valid information, but the the.
- 25:36I would have all of those. Yeah, what are we doing?
- 25:40If they went 11 and 13, that would give them the fewest wins.
- 25:45Yeah, see, I I feel like that's the stat for the.
- 25:47Now I'm yeah, now that I'm flipping it.
- 25:50You're discrediting this tweet. Is that what you're saying?
- 25:52Well, it's it's raising some questions now down.
- 25:56Under the bus if you go if you go. 11 and 13, how does that
- 26:00give you the worst record in the 21st century?
- 26:02But if you go 8 and 16, how is that not the worst record in the
- 26:0921st century? I think it is on top of also
- 26:15being the the least wins and whatever.
- 26:18I don't know, I'm over it. Like I said, let's just stay
- 26:21under 40 dubs. That's what we're rooting for.
- 26:24Well, Speaking of 40, according to Scott Merck and Scott,
- 26:26hopefully you don't let me down here, the White Sox have lost
- 26:29forty of their last 44 games. They're the second team in the
- 26:32modern era to have a stretch of 40 losses over 44 games span in
- 26:35a single season, along with the. What year?
- 26:461916 you're not going to guess it, the 1916 A's who lost 41 of
- 26:5344 Speaking of the. Philadelphia A's.
- 26:55Yes, yes, if you Speaking of the A's, if you're curious about how
- 26:59this team stacks up against last year's worst Seaman baseball,
- 27:03the Oakland A's, the 2023 Oakland A's, they finish at 50
- 27:06and 112. And as I mentioned, the the this
- 27:10current White Sox team is on pace for, call it, 36 wins.
- 27:15I need it. I need it. 100 / 120 losses is
- 27:21absurd. They've been shut out 15 times,
- 27:24they've been swept 22 times and they've blown 51 leads.
- 27:28They own the three longest losing streaks in Major League
- 27:31Baseball this year. They've been swept socked 22
- 27:35times. They've been swept 22 times.
- 27:40That's got to be a record 22 sweeps.
- 27:45I'm, I'm at the point now where I think that everything they do
- 27:47is a record. Damn.
- 27:49Not a good record. Not a good record.
- 27:51What's Grady doing? This is not on Grady.
- 27:56This is no. I'm saying what was he doing
- 27:58saying yes to this job? Oh yeah, I mean.
- 28:02If I would have said yes to this.
- 28:04I mean, if you're, if you're working like what did we say?
- 28:07He was working like a 15 an hour, $15.00 an hour job.
- 28:11If, if a MLB managerial position opens up, even if it's a, even
- 28:15if it's a temporary tag, I might take this, although it is the
- 28:19White Sox. I don't know.
- 28:20That's tough. That's really tough.
- 28:25They are. Oh, how many games back are
- 28:28they, you ask? They're 39 games back of 4th
- 28:31place. So they're more games back than
- 28:35they have wins. They're more games back of 4th
- 28:39place than they have wins. Let that sink in.
- 28:46Wow, wow, my goodness. Of The Who of the the Tigers?
- 28:54The Tigers. That's what I was going to say.
- 28:57But shout out the American League Central, though.
- 28:59We just got done talking about how the Tigers are still
- 29:02technically not dead. Yeah, and they're in fourth
- 29:05place in that division, so shout out the Tigers, I guess.
- 29:08Shout out to Central for sure. Much better baseball this year I
- 29:13put out. I put out a tweet like a week or
- 29:15two ago and I was listing out predictable headlines that you
- 29:21could have seen coming at the start of the year.
- 29:23I think I think this is one of them.
- 29:25I think the central improving quality wise as a whole was, was
- 29:30certainly predictable sans the White Sox.
- 29:33I I think we can exclude them from this conversation, but the
- 29:36other four teams, that division, they're playing, playing high
- 29:40quality ball right now and I like it.
- 29:42You know my stance. Get them out of Chicago.
- 29:48Burn it down. Start over.
- 29:53They're currently riding I I just love all the the numbers
- 29:55associated with this team right now.
- 29:57They're currently riding A10 game losing streak.
- 29:59They've got a -291 run differential.
- 30:02I I will give it to them. They're consistent with their
- 30:04losses, 54 at home, 53 on the road.
- 30:11But I think it if you were to take away one thing from this
- 30:14segment here, it's that as we said, more games back of 4th
- 30:20place then they have wins. That's so tough.
- 30:28That's that's disgusting. Get the the 2024 Chicago White
- 30:34Sox should be the inspiration and and the the organization,
- 30:40the example needed to implement relegation in baseball.
- 30:45Like can we get the Durham Bulls up here or something?
- 30:47Can we get like the, can we get the I, I, I don't know the, the,
- 30:55the Portland Sea Dogs up here? 47 1/2 games back.
- 31:00It's somebody up here the the White Sox are are.
- 31:04Do you know the do do do you know the A's run differential
- 31:06last year? You know what that was?
- 31:08Probably a lot better. Are you asking me or do you
- 31:12know? I don't know, they're at -291.
- 31:16White Sox this year? What did I say?
- 31:20You said 291. Yeah.
- 31:22Last year the whites. Oh, Yikes.
- 31:23The the A's were negative 339 last year, but they finished
- 31:285112 so they made do with what they had.
- 31:31There's another month they're they'll get there.
- 31:33They'll get there. Last 10.
- 31:35Oh, and 10. They're such garbage.
- 31:40Get get them, drop them down a couple levels, get the get the
- 31:44sea dogs up here. They've had the little E next to
- 31:47their name in standings for like 2 weeks now.
- 31:51Yeah, sometime, sometime. Out of Chicago.
- 31:58Let's talk Clayton Kershaw here, Clayton to the 15 day IL And
- 32:04look, I'm just going to go ahead and get it out of the way.
- 32:07I had I had a lot of people coming at me for my post
- 32:10following the the injury that he suffered in Arizona this
- 32:15weekend. I wasn't watching the game
- 32:19necessarily at the at that given moment.
- 32:21I have been watching Dodgers D backs this weekend, but I wasn't
- 32:24watching the game at that moment when he suffered this injury.
- 32:27I can't watch. Yeah.
- 32:29That's that's tough. Yeah.
- 32:32I feel bad for you man. That's so.
- 32:33It's so dumb. Like, get it?
- 32:35Get this. Like at least with the, with
- 32:37with the Orioles and the Nationals, I can watch on
- 32:39Masson. Like if they're if, if Boston's
- 32:41in town it's blacked out, I can at least pull it up on Mass and
- 32:44watch it that way. But for like if you have a
- 32:47situation where you don't have a a cable connection or you don't
- 32:50have your parents. There's no way to watch log in.
- 32:53The Diamondbacks don't have a cable network right now.
- 32:56There you go. That's that's rough.
- 33:00It's crazy. Yeah, that whatever.
- 33:03We don't need to pull up that thread.
- 33:07But yeah, I wasn't watching at the moment, but all I see is
- 33:10people freaking out. Oh, this is is this the end of
- 33:14the Hall of Famer's career? This was the and I saw like
- 33:16other tweets, this was the last, the last time we're ever going
- 33:20to see Clayton Kershaw on a Major League mound.
- 33:23And I'm going, Oh my God, what happened?
- 33:24Like, did he did he get shot? Was there a a sniper in the
- 33:27crowd? So I put out the post with the
- 33:31injury. Like I said, I'm just going to
- 33:35go ahead and get out in front of it here.
- 33:36I should have done a little more digging around.
- 33:38I should have looked into his reaction afterwards.
- 33:40I pulled up the video. It looked painful, whatever it
- 33:43was, But I just put out the post with somebody's tweet
- 33:49superimposed over a picture of Kershaw walking off the field.
- 33:52And I was like, have we seen the last of Clayton Kershaw?
- 33:54And all these people go, no, overreaction.
- 33:57Hardly not the case, buddy. Watch some baseball.
- 34:01It's like, it was just a question.
- 34:03Like, have we seen it? Is this it?
- 34:05Like, I don't know. I don't know what this means for
- 34:06Kershaw. Maybe, maybe a bone spur in his
- 34:09in his big toe is what sets him over the edge.
- 34:11Maybe we have seen the end of Clayton Kershaw.
- 34:14It's like, you know what? Yeah, maybe.
- 34:16Maybe he looks at it and it's like, I don't want to do this
- 34:18anymore. I'm done.
- 34:19And then these people coming at me in the comments are going to
- 34:21look like idiots. Well, it's the Dodger fans.
- 34:24They already except Murray Fresh after a Ding Dong too.
- 34:31It was like right after. Corbin Carroll, I saw people
- 34:34saying like, did Corbin Carroll just send Clayton Kershaw into
- 34:36retirement? I'm like, come on now.
- 34:39But you you just have to assume when this, when something like
- 34:42this happens, it's it's something with the, it's
- 34:44something with the shoulder, something with the elbow,
- 34:46something with the back, the. Back is the normal one, yeah.
- 34:49Kershaw just doesn't have a good history when it comes to these
- 34:54kinds of things. So when you see oh, Kershaw was
- 34:56pulled prematurely from the game after Home Run.
- 34:59Dodger fans are weird because like I feel like they can talk a
- 35:02lot of noise against Kershaw, but they don't let other fan,
- 35:08like other fans from other fan bases talk.
- 35:11You notice that I but yeah, I. Respect it though.
- 35:14It's like we're going to Boo our guy, but only we're allowed to
- 35:16Boo our guy. I, I get that there's like a
- 35:19protective nature there. I I.
- 35:21Get that we're the same way about like Clay Holmes.
- 35:24Like, yeah, 100% feel that. Don't talk to you.
- 35:27Can't say bad things, but I can't.
- 35:29Yeah, like, yeah, that's fair. I.
- 35:31Guess I can talk about how the Red Sox defense at at times this
- 35:34year has been the worst in baseball.
- 35:36But only, only, only we're allowed to say that.
- 35:38You can't. You can't run your mouth about
- 35:41sure about our defense because then I'm going to talk about how
- 35:43we have one of the best offenses in baseball and just shove it
- 35:45right back down your throat anyway.
- 35:47It's not about Red Sox or Yankees.
- 35:50Here's what I will say, though, is that the Dodgers, their
- 35:52Dodgers have expanded the lead a little bit.
- 35:55They have kind of gave themselves a little bit more of
- 35:58a cushion. It's up to five now in the
- 36:00division. So I think 5, right?
- 36:06D backs. D backs smoked them today,
- 36:08didn't they? I was watching that game.
- 36:10I didn't see what it what it finished up.
- 36:12Yeah, the five, five game lead. Score wise.
- 36:15Five game lead in a month. I mean, that's that ain't easy,
- 36:21so. Oh yeah, Yikes.
- 36:25Steve backs put up 14 on them today, but that's after dropping
- 36:28the first two of the series. So you said it's a five.
- 36:31Yeah, yeah, a little bit of a cushion.
- 36:33They still got one more on on on Monday or today if you're
- 36:36listening on Monday. Yeah.
- 36:38So that'll be interesting. I don't know how much of an
- 36:42impact this has on the the Dodgers at this point.
- 36:44I think this series has has helped them.
- 36:46Like you said, it's kind of and we'll see what happens in in
- 36:49Game 4, but taking the first two games of the series to start
- 36:54things off certainly helps. It takes a little bit of
- 36:56pressure on you, needing to shore up your pitching
- 37:00immediately right away to fend off the rest of the division,
- 37:05but. They're calling anybody up.
- 37:07I haven't really paid attention to much.
- 37:09There was a course. Obviously there's obviously what
- 37:12I mean was September call up specifically wonder if they're
- 37:16calling anybody, but there's not a limitation on September call
- 37:21UPS, right? It's I think it dropped down and
- 37:24like 1. Did it drop down a guy?
- 37:27One number, yeah. It's possible, but it's the
- 37:32same, it's the same issue for for the Dodgers.
- 37:34You you just need to shore up your pitching, especially giving
- 37:39how how the OR given the health of it over the course of this
- 37:43year, how that's gone. And you need to figure out AI
- 37:48don't want to call it a Plan B, but you need to figure out a a
- 37:53an approach to handle the starts that Clayton Kershaw used to
- 37:58take in the postseason because we can talk about it till we're
- 38:04blowing. You're lucky.
- 38:05To get 4 innings out of them now.
- 38:07That's what I'm saying. So like, let's just.
- 38:10Yeah. Let's let's figure something
- 38:12else out because this isn't it. And, and I with it, with this
- 38:15injury and him missing more time after already missing the
- 38:18majority of the season, I, I don't really know what Clayton
- 38:22Kershaw is going to provide you at this stage to finish out the
- 38:25year or to finish out the postseason.
- 38:29The other thing I I heard and I had a Co worker say this shout
- 38:34out. Well, former Co worker now shout
- 38:36out Troy though. But my buddy Troy, he said that
- 38:40because he's a Cowboys fan and he said that the Yankees and the
- 38:47Cowboys are the same in a way that and I'm going to throw the
- 38:50Dodgers in this category. The regular season just doesn't
- 38:53matter. We're at the point where it just
- 38:56doesn't matter. Do whatever you need to do.
- 39:00If you go the two games over 500, if you win 120 games,
- 39:05whatever, if it doesn't end in a ring, it doesn't matter.
- 39:08So like we're now at that point. I think I'm I think I'm
- 39:13unofficially officially not recognizing 2020 anymore.
- 39:23Like I don't I just I don't know when it happened, I was like,
- 39:27what do you want them to do? Like, you know what I mean?
- 39:29Like that they won, but it's just like it's it's kind of lost
- 39:34its luster to this point, yeah. Yeah, I'll be honest with you.
- 39:36I see. I see that.
- 39:38Speaking of Kershaw, I see that clip of him running onto the
- 39:41field after they won it and I, it just makes me uncomfortable.
- 39:44I'm like I, I don't like, I'm happy for him, but I'm not like
- 39:48I'm not. It's not the same.
- 39:52It just doesn't. It just doesn't it, It doesn't
- 39:54bring me that same level of joy that I would get from seeing
- 39:56somebody else who's worked their entire career to get a ring
- 39:59finally get one. It's just, that's just the
- 40:01reality of it. Like it's nothing against him,
- 40:02but it's just that's kind of how it is.
- 40:06Yeah, it's all good. Whatever.
- 40:11I do like Kershaw. Love Kershaw but it's just tough
- 40:16self break. The Royals making some some
- 40:22veteran editions with the bats following Vinny Pasquantino's
- 40:28injury, Who by the way will be out six to eight weeks, which is
- 40:33just a massive blow for the Royals.
- 40:35We'll just call that the season, yeah.
- 40:39Yeah, although you never know that could that, I mean, I
- 40:43don't, I don't recall the timeline exactly of the the
- 40:46Schwarber. That's what I was going to say.
- 40:48You could pull a Schwarber. You could pull a Schwarber.
- 40:50We could see something like that with with Vinny making a making
- 40:54a heroic come back into the the the stages of the postseason.
- 41:02That's a that's a minimum ALCS appearance.
- 41:04Sure, sure, I get the earliest. Probably a World Series thing.
- 41:10We can see it, but they acquire, they, they add Tommy Pham,
- 41:16Robbie Grossman and acquire Yuli Guriel in a trade.
- 41:20And people wonder like yo, what's the deal with the the
- 41:22trade? I saw that question being asked
- 41:24a lot. He was acquired on a minor
- 41:28league deal and because he has not played at the big league
- 41:31level this year, he is eligible to be traded after the deadline.
- 41:35Interesting. So he will hopefully.
- 41:39I think he's they've already got him in the line up.
- 41:40I think he played today. I think he he had a knock or
- 41:43two. So he's already making an impact
- 41:45and I. He'll play pretty good first
- 41:46base too. Yeah, I'm, I'm just going to go
- 41:48ahead and say it right now. He he's going to have some some
- 41:53heroic AB down the stretch. There's just that.
- 41:57Yeah, it's yeah, the Astros. He's eligible to be traded post
- 42:04deadline, but I I think we're we're past the playoff
- 42:08eligibility with him, correct? Got to be.
- 42:12Is that how that works? Got to be.
- 42:13So this, this heroic AB that he's most likely going to have
- 42:18is going to come some point late September and it's going to give
- 42:21them a, a huge morale boost, a huge push.
- 42:24Just wait. For it, I like the you said,
- 42:26Robbie Grossman too. Robbie Grossman, who, by the
- 42:29way, have you I I looked up his splits.
- 42:33Guys dominates against righties. Guy mashes, no lefties.
- 42:37Really. Mashes against lefties verse
- 42:40righties he's slashing 170 two 270-720-7484 verse lefties
- 42:49279-380-8438 nineteen weighted weighted runs created plus of
- 42:54136 so mashes lefties so. And fam Fam also matches
- 43:00lefties, so. Fame was a surprising,
- 43:05surprising DFA. I agree by Saint Louis he would
- 43:08be eligible, right? Or we just passed that point if
- 43:13you're being added. That's a good question.
- 43:19Is it like? Is it like service time with
- 43:21another team? Did we, did we determine is it
- 43:26the start of September, was that the cut off for eligibility or
- 43:29was it it wasn't deadline related?
- 43:34And you're asking the wrong guy. I I just ain't that guy.
- 43:39Well, I don't know the answer to your question.
- 43:41I don't know if FAM would be eligible.
- 43:43Maybe it was somewhat rhetorical.
- 43:45But I can go ahead and just about guarantee you that this
- 43:51mixture, the this trio here will certainly provide them some
- 43:59production down the stretch. But Pasquatch is a tough blow.
- 44:02That is tough blow. And you know, good for the
- 44:04Royals like this. This is what a lot of and we we
- 44:08we talked. I literally went on a a a mini
- 44:11rant last episode about this. But good on the Royals for for
- 44:14handling the deadline, handling the offseason the way that they
- 44:17did, because there's a lot of teams that would have added
- 44:21names like this. They would have added a trio of
- 44:24fam Grossman and Guriel and called that a trade deadline.
- 44:30But they're doing this post that like they're they're doing this
- 44:32after the fact. And so because of that, I'm
- 44:37looking at these editions going, OK, like they're, I mean,
- 44:40they're not going to not going to take the league over by storm
- 44:44by any means, But that's some, that's some much needed depth,
- 44:48some some pop off the bench. Doesn't Why do I feel like MJ
- 44:53Melendez could play a little first base too, couldn't he?
- 44:57I think he has. He's played right.
- 45:00He catches, obviously, but I think he has.
- 45:04Played. 1st no I why do I feel like this year was his first his
- 45:09first time playing? Third, am I crazy?
- 45:12First, you mean? Isn't that what I said third?
- 45:15Did I say third? Oh, number three was was on my
- 45:17mind positionally. No, he he played a little third
- 45:22last year, but yeah, he he has played a little first this year.
- 45:26So definitely, definitely mix if.
- 45:28Because I was going to say because like Fam and Grossman
- 45:30are obviously going to be in the outfield.
- 45:31So just shifting things around a little bit.
- 45:34Good on the Royals, man. Good on the Royals for still
- 45:36being in the hunt and able to make these types of moves and
- 45:39still try to win ball games. And these are veteran names.
- 45:43These are good ABS. These are you're getting good
- 45:47ABS and you're getting average Major League defense.
- 45:54Lastly here, Nate, let's talk, let's talk Chicago Cubs, a team
- 45:59in particular that I think a lot of folks have maybe written off,
- 46:02but they are not, they're not dead yet.
- 46:05They swept the Nationals this weekend.
- 46:07They've current, they've won six straight entering the new week.
- 46:11They're nine and one in their last ten, and they're only 3 1/2
- 46:15back in the wild card. Can I tell you about their
- 46:22offense? Yeah, 'cause I'm not hyped up
- 46:24yet. The Cubs offense have scored
- 46:29fourteen runs four times in their last eight games.
- 46:34Goodness, get get this. I'm gonna have to sit up for
- 46:37this one. The Chicago Cubs offense, the 99
- 46:44runs that they scored over their last 10 games is the second most
- 46:49over A10 game span in 100 years. The last time or the most runs
- 46:55that were scored was back in 1930 when 100 and four runs were
- 46:59scored in A10 game span. Goodness.
- 47:04That's the kind of offense we're looking at right now.
- 47:07However, I ask you this is it too little too late?
- 47:12Looking at the wild card on the National lakeside, is it too
- 47:15late for the Cubs? It, I mean, at this point, I'm
- 47:19I'm going to go ahead and just Sharpie in the Diamondbacks and
- 47:23the Padres. I just don't see that fade
- 47:26happening in a month. So it comes down to the the
- 47:32Braves and the Mets. Will they fall?
- 47:38Will that happen? I mean, give me your, give me
- 47:43your honest thoughts. We are now officially in
- 47:45September. Give me your thoughts on the
- 47:47Mets right now. Did you think it would last this
- 47:49long? I did not.
- 47:50Because I'll be honest with you, it's making, it's making me a
- 47:52little nervous. I don't want them.
- 47:53I don't. I just don't want it.
- 47:55I don't want it to happen. I don't want to hear the
- 47:58nonsense. I just don't want to hear it,
- 48:02especially for a first round exit because you know that's
- 48:05what's going to happen. I don't want to hear it.
- 48:09I need the Braves to hang on to this or for the Cubs to hop
- 48:16skippity hop over and and take it.
- 48:19But I don't even I don't even understand.
- 48:23You could you could offer me a few $100 to try and name the
- 48:27Cubs line up and I don't think I could really don't think I
- 48:31could. It's.
- 48:34Going to be interesting, you know, like what was it about a
- 48:39week or so ago? We're talking about how like,
- 48:41well, it looks like the postseason picture is coming
- 48:43into clarity. Like I think at this point we
- 48:46know who's in. It's just a matter of seating.
- 48:48But you've got teams like this that are just kind of hanging
- 48:52out in the shadows. Well, the Cubs haven't been
- 48:54hanging out in the shadows. I mean, they're they're surging
- 48:56right now. Like I said, nine and one in the
- 48:58last 10. They've won six in a row.
- 49:01So they're they're surging through the shadows as opposed
- 49:05to just hanging out. But it's like you can't with the
- 49:08month left. You can't write the Cubs off.
- 49:11Yeah, that's good. That's good.
- 49:15This organization needs to figure it out, though.
- 49:17You need to give your fan base an I.
- 49:19Don't know what your hatred for Chicago sports is.
- 49:22I I. Don't know where it comes from.
- 49:24And you can ask any Cubs fan, ask them.
- 49:28They're not happy with what their organize their what their
- 49:30front office has been doing. It's weird, it's strange, and
- 49:34it's directionless. And I'm giving props to this is
- 49:38Craig counsel. This has nothing to do with
- 49:41front office. This is Craig counsel and some
- 49:44good ball players. That's about it.
- 49:47And it's not like Bellinger is out here putting up MVP
- 49:50performances or even a performance that warrants that
- 49:54contract he got. This is a great council.
- 49:59I mean, it is, I'm, I'm not, I'm not saying it's not.
- 50:01But do you think when the when when they asked him to be the
- 50:05manager of their ball club that they they had the expectation or
- 50:09the assumption that they were going to finish ahead of the
- 50:12Mets in the wild card race? I think they would have.
- 50:17Not to say that it won't happen, but like as it stands right now,
- 50:20like, I mean, we're they're they're up against the Mets and
- 50:24we're talking about one of the best managers in baseball.
- 50:28Not his fault. I'm, I'm not saying that, but
- 50:31I'm just saying I don't want to give like extra credit to Craig
- 50:34counsel for what he's done because at the end of the day, I
- 50:41don't know take, take. I think I think this is about as
- 50:45good as you could expect the cup season being in the hunt with a
- 50:50month left ish. Ish.
- 50:52Yeah, I would agree. I would agree.
- 50:54This is about as good as you could hope for, especially when
- 50:57you were a quasi seller at the deadline.
- 51:00Oh, that's so true. Sell enough.
- 51:04Yeah, there's. This is what I'm talking about.
- 51:06Yeah, yeah. But I mean, to their credit, no,
- 51:10in their defense, they didn't. Nobody saw this stretch coming.
- 51:15Yeah, especially again with the deadlines that they had.
- 51:18Nobody saw this coming. And this just puts a, a wrench
- 51:20into things. And it one of my, one of my
- 51:23least favorite parts about post deadline September baseball is
- 51:28when things start shaking out, got teams go on runs, players
- 51:31start performing extra poorly or, or more impressively.
- 51:38And then you got the, you got the revisionist history folks
- 51:41that are like, OK, well, what were we doing at the deadline?
- 51:44It's like, OK, we didn't have the benefit of, of, of
- 51:47hindsight. If if you're the Cubs, you
- 51:49didn't know that this this run was coming.
- 51:52But if you did, sure, yeah, maybe we would have handled the
- 51:54deadline a little differently. Maybe we would have supplemented
- 51:56a little bit to to improve our chances of beating the OR
- 52:00finishing ahead of the Mets. But they didn't know that.
- 52:04So they're kind of just making do with what they've got into
- 52:06your point. I think Craig Counsel has played
- 52:08a huge role in that. And if if they find a way to
- 52:11squeak in which you got a little bit of a hurdle to get over
- 52:15here, I think all the more credit belongs to Craig Counsel
- 52:19yet. But they haven't done anything.
- 52:21Stay hot, man. This is there's always one team.
- 52:24Why can't it be them? You know, there's always one
- 52:26team that makes a make some type of run, sneaks in and then kind
- 52:30of does some damage because it's just all about being hot at the
- 52:33right time. We've seen it year over year.
- 52:36It's all about being hot at the right time, so why not them?
- 52:40But not the Mets, please. All right, to wrap up here, I'm
- 52:42going to spring a little something on you.
- 52:44You had no idea this was coming, but I I like springing a game on
- 52:47you here. All right, you've got 30
- 52:49seconds. Name the five Major League
- 52:51Baseball teams in the postseason Hunt named after animals.
- 52:54Go. Cubs.
- 52:58You've got Diamondbacks, you've got Orioles, you've got pressure
- 53:18Tigers, I guess if we can consider them.
- 53:24Come on, Mariners. That's not an animal.
- 53:32That's. Not it's not a, it's not a fish.
- 53:35No dude, a mariner is like a. Fisherman.
- 53:43A seaman of sorts. A pirate of sorts.
- 53:47A sailor of sorts. Not an what did I miss?
- 53:49What did I miss? Technically, mathematically,
- 53:54it's the Cardinals. I never already got there.
- 53:59Not out of the mix. Yeah, that's fair.
- 54:01That's that's not bad. That's, I mean, did I get the
- 54:06other four were right. Right the list the list is
- 54:08pretty pretty short of of teams that are in the hunt.
- 54:11So I mean you immensely I feel like you could have blocked out
- 54:13like half the league, but you know under pressure haven't just
- 54:18dumped that on you out of nowhere.
- 54:19That was four out of five as as passing.
- 54:22Yeah, that's that's. Making working through what
- 54:26teams are. When you're working through a
- 54:27division, you're like, what's a twin?
- 54:30No socks, not an animal. Inanimate objects.
- 54:36Yeah, it's tough, man. It's tough.
- 54:38What's a Philly? No one knows.
- 54:41Couldn't tell you. Yeah, I saw, I thought of you.
- 54:45I saw this GIF or like a meme or whatever that.
- 54:49Hold on, I don't like that you said the word Phillies and then
- 54:53transition to I thought of you. Why?
- 54:56Why are you making the connection there?
- 54:57Are you? Are you calling me a quasi
- 54:59Phillies fan? You like a play on words and I?
- 55:01Beat those allegations by. The way here's why.
- 55:03Let me get there. It's a guy.
- 55:06It's like an old like portrait of like an old guy and he's like
- 55:08holding a goose and the caption of like the guy says I'm a
- 55:12piece, a people person and the goose His caption is I'm a geese
- 55:18goose. I'm.
- 55:27So I'm a geese goose. That's what the Phillies make me
- 55:30think of because it's like Philly Phillies.
- 55:31It's like you like that though. You're going to go find that.
- 55:38You're going to find that gift. Oh, I'm.
- 55:39Going to find it. I'm a female person.
- 55:42I'm a geese goose. I knew you'd like that.
- 55:47That's good. That's good.
- 55:48That's good. All right, well, that's all I
- 55:50got. You got anything else for the
- 55:52folks? Have a happy Labor Day.
- 55:55Yeah, get after it tomorrow, whatever you're doing.
- 55:58If you're sleeping in, get after that.
- 56:00If you're productive, get after that.
- 56:03If you're going to the lake and eating a bunch of crap food and
- 56:10drinking and swimming, get after that like I will.
- 56:13What are you doing? Going to hang out with the
- 56:17parents maybe and sprinkle in some pickleball.
- 56:19There it is, getting into that, getting into.
- 56:21Pickleball a little bit recently I.
- 56:22Need to get into it I think. It's, I'm not going to lie, it's
- 56:26I, I see the, I see the draw, I see the appeal.
- 56:29Are your knees OK? It depends to your point getting
- 56:34after it, it depends how how hard I get after it because.
- 56:37If how many opponents? If I'm yeah, if I'm playing
- 56:39leisurely, which is rarely the case because I just like being
- 56:43super aggressive. Anything competitive wise so.
- 56:46100%. More often than not, my knees
- 56:49are feeling a little bit, but I I got to just push through.
- 56:54I mean, I'm 30, I can't. How's your how's your brother?
- 56:57He's pretty good. Is he?
- 56:59Yeah, the whole family's actually pretty good.
- 57:01Yeah, really. We we get moving around.
- 57:02I mean, it's it's way better than tennis.
- 57:04Tennis is impossible. If you don't actually play
- 57:07tennis, Tennis, you don't even bother.
- 57:09It's a waste of time because you spend 3/4 of the time chasing
- 57:13the ball. It's it's a waste of time.
- 57:15Yeah, but pickleball, that's a sweet spot.
- 57:17What was that like commercial where David Ortiz, they were
- 57:20like doing tennis lessons or whatever after he retired, he's
- 57:23like. Yeah, just just walk over the
- 57:26fence. Yeah, that's.
- 57:29That's me. That's any time I play.
- 57:30That's all. That's all that happens.
- 57:32I'm hitting it well over that tall fence.
- 57:34I immediately go into like BP mode.
- 57:36I'm like, oh, let me get this backhand right to the ball.
- 57:39A to BA to B, I'm not going to hit a roll over to third base.
- 57:42I'm going to launch this. Yeah, forget.
- 57:44The top spin I got to get pickle.
- 57:46Pickleball doesn't, like, go very far, right?
- 57:49Like you can hit it pretty hard without it going.
- 57:51Yeah, too deep, Yeah. I like that.
- 57:54But to answer your question that that's probably what's in the
- 57:56mix for me tomorrow, so. It's a good day.
- 57:58It's a good day. We shall see.
- 57:59You can work up a sweat playing that.
- 58:00Yeah, really. I don't have to get into that.
- 58:05I don't like that. Highly recommend.
- 58:08Good deal. Good stuff.
- 58:10Let's have a good week. I'm going to.
- 58:12I'm going to do a whole lot of nothing this week.
- 58:15It's awesome. It's the way it should be.
- 58:17Yeah, I guess we'll see you folks here in a few days.
- 58:22Dreary day off don't go chasing curveballs.
- 58:25Love you all as always, looking forward to talking more baseball
- 58:27with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
