- 0:52Speaker 3: the way real quick. We screwed up, guys, we made
- 0:55Speaker 3: a mistake. It's not super gonna affect you. But we
- 1:00Speaker 3: asked our friend Nate Stone to be here. Let's all
- 1:03Speaker 3: say hi to him real quick. Hi buddy, Hi, n Hello,
- 1:08Speaker 3: how are you doing? Pal?
- 1:10Speaker 4: I am swell, I am swell. You are swell your
- 1:14Speaker 4: guy's faces.
- 1:15Speaker 3: You're also, as it turns out, a man who has
- 1:18Speaker 3: a better memory than both of us. Because we were
- 1:21Speaker 3: going to do all of the Back to the Future
- 1:23Speaker 3: movies over this month.
- 1:26Speaker 1: Very excited about it.
- 1:27Speaker 3: Niate kept being like, I swear we've talked about some
- 1:31Speaker 3: of this stuff before, and Rob and I ignored him wholesale, and.
- 1:35Speaker 1: He's like, dude, we've talked about Christopher Lloyd. We talked
- 1:38Speaker 1: to I don't I don't understand because that was gonna
- 1:41Speaker 1: be our top five draft.
- 1:42Speaker 5: Twas twas oh, I mean and when bugs he guess
- 1:47Speaker 5: led me a little bit because he was like, well, dude,
- 1:49Speaker 5: when you're on it, you probably have that crossover because yes,
- 1:53Speaker 5: movies that you're on for and and then I was like, no,
- 1:58Speaker 5: he's probably right.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Which I'm so sorry. I didn't mean to mislead you.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I just didn't remember at all.
- 2:06Speaker 1: Well then, but yeah, Nate then sends us a text.
- 2:10Speaker 1: He's like, I'm not crazy. He screenshoted our post from
- 2:15Speaker 1: July second, twenty twenty, where we had posted that we
- 2:21Speaker 1: did Back to the Future. It was our sixty sixth episode, Wow,
- 2:25Speaker 1: and Bukes and I had no recollection of it whatsoever.
- 2:30Speaker 3: Now, Also, in our defense, that was nearly If that
- 2:34Speaker 3: was sixty six, that was probably two hundred episodes ago
- 2:37Speaker 3: at the very least, so now stuff and who were
- 2:41Speaker 3: twenty twenty it came and it went who knows what happened.
- 2:45Speaker 5: I'll give you guys a little grace, but it does
- 2:50Speaker 5: appear to me that you really don't care about who's
- 2:53Speaker 5: on the podcast and what you guys do.
- 2:55Speaker 1: No, that's not true.
- 2:57Speaker 3: I came up with the whole intro for you. I
- 2:59Speaker 3: was gonna be like, you know, roads, where we're going,
- 3:02Speaker 3: we do need roads, Nate Roadstone, which is probably something
- 3:05Speaker 3: I said last time.
- 3:07Speaker 4: That is one of the That is one of the things.
- 3:09Speaker 5: As I was going through my show notes, I was like, Oh,
- 3:13Speaker 5: I should go find my tank top.
- 3:17Speaker 4: And then I did that record right.
- 3:20Speaker 5: Oh man, it was like back to the future. It
- 3:24Speaker 5: was like I thought, and it really is.
- 3:27Speaker 3: So we're gonna go We're gonna give you guys an insight.
- 3:30Speaker 3: We're going to go back to the future once again.
- 3:33Speaker 3: We're just going to re release that episode because I mean, honestly,
- 3:37Speaker 3: once we knew it was less work, we were also
- 3:39Speaker 3: very on board.
- 3:40Speaker 1: So yeah, no, dude, I watched that movie and I
- 3:45Speaker 1: thought to myself, man, I really haven't seen this in
- 3:47Speaker 1: a long time. No, if it was five years ago,
- 3:50Speaker 1: it was for the thirty fifth anniversary, and we chatted
- 3:53Speaker 1: about it and I just feel so silly.
- 3:57Speaker 3: I probably said out loud to my mom, like, oh,
- 4:00Speaker 3: I wonder the last time I actually watched this was Boy,
- 4:03Speaker 3: it's probably been a long time, dude.
- 4:05Speaker 1: And it's so funny because one of my hot takes
- 4:08Speaker 1: was like, this is like an iconic film. I can't
- 4:13Speaker 1: believe it's taken us this long to talk about that.
- 4:18Speaker 3: I almost wish we were recorded the whole thing before realizing,
- 4:22Speaker 3: because boy, the dumb stuff we would have been.
- 4:26Speaker 5: Oh man, we could have compared.
- 4:29Speaker 4: I mean, I'm sure some of my notes are different.
- 4:33Speaker 1: If we If we would not have had you on
- 4:36Speaker 1: for this episode, Bukes and I would have recorded as
- 4:42Speaker 1: with someone else and had no idea that we had
- 4:47Speaker 1: done that until somebody would probably point it out later.
- 4:50Speaker 3: Are we one hundred percent sure we didn't do the
- 4:52Speaker 3: other two?
- 4:53Speaker 5: Yeah?
- 4:53Speaker 4: No, the first one.
- 4:56Speaker 5: The one thing I remember is when people when you guys,
- 4:59Speaker 5: are like they're a sleepwall.
- 5:02Speaker 1: Oh yeah, right, terrible impression.
- 5:04Speaker 3: That always sounds like that. I mean that was obviously
- 5:08Speaker 3: all right.
- 5:08Speaker 4: I think my mic is being robotic again.
- 5:10Speaker 3: No, oh, no flattering impression of rob.
- 5:18Speaker 4: I to do rob though, because.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Oh you've attempted to do rob you have? And I
- 5:26Speaker 1: said no, every night.
- 5:28Speaker 3: He would just scroll up to that bunk and just
- 5:30Speaker 3: try to roll in from the ground. Yours always on
- 5:35Speaker 3: the ground, Rob, It still is.
- 5:36Speaker 5: Yeah, And for a lot of times that I was
- 5:40Speaker 5: right above him, could just reach my hand down and say.
- 5:42Speaker 1: Hey, hey buddy, nice sleep tight buddy. So yeah, this
- 5:49Speaker 1: is very silly. And Nate, thanks so much for for
- 5:53Speaker 1: bringing this to our attention. Yeah, you saved the day.
- 5:59Speaker 4: Yeah, I mean, anything to do less work, I'm in.
- 6:02Speaker 3: Yeah, although he doesn't feel that way in his professional life,
- 6:05Speaker 3: that's true. And if you do need roads, go to
- 6:08Speaker 3: Roads LLC. You can contact him by calling six one
- 6:11Speaker 3: two two three four eighteen sixty nine.
- 6:15Speaker 1: Uh.
- 6:16Speaker 3: And he does you just doing all the kinds of
- 6:18Speaker 3: projects right from a few hours up to like three days.
- 6:21Speaker 3: And then only if it's not a yunchy project.
- 6:24Speaker 5: If they're in a project that you have and you're like, oh,
- 6:26Speaker 5: contractor is never going to come out and do this project,
- 6:29Speaker 5: I'm probably the person to call. If it's not something
- 6:32Speaker 5: I can do, I probably can point you in the
- 6:35Speaker 5: right direction. But I also don't do roofs anymore.
- 6:40Speaker 4: I'm getting old.
- 6:41Speaker 1: Good for you, dude, And.
- 6:42Speaker 4: I canceled my insurance and I'll for doing that.
- 6:46Speaker 1: I was like, no, I'm good, I'd.
- 6:49Speaker 3: Rather just not do that.
- 6:50Speaker 4: He said, good for you, man, there's enough on the
- 6:52Speaker 4: ground work.
- 6:55Speaker 1: Yeah, we've used Nate Services quite a few times. He
- 6:59Speaker 1: also tunes pianos, and I need him to do that.
- 7:03Speaker 1: What were you saying, youtune pianos? What else do you do?
- 7:07Speaker 5: I do not tune a fish nice nice.
- 7:12Speaker 1: Off air.
- 7:13Speaker 3: He will tune an autoharp if I ever actually schedule
- 7:16Speaker 3: a time with him. So there's that too.
- 7:18Speaker 4: You're in Roseville still, right, Yes?
- 7:21Speaker 5: Yes, I so I have like five clients over there
- 7:24Speaker 5: and I'm Roosevelt probably once every other week, so I
- 7:28Speaker 5: feel like we need to actually try to connect.
- 7:30Speaker 3: Yes, let's do some lunch or some dinner. Best hug,
- 7:35Speaker 3: A lingering hug would work as well.
- 7:38Speaker 4: Yeah, or maybe we can go to Target.
- 7:41Speaker 3: We can that's the original target over there?
- 7:44Speaker 4: Oh gosh, is that the first one?
- 7:47Speaker 3: That's story number one over there?
- 7:48Speaker 1: Wow? You guys could even watch Back to the Future
- 7:52Speaker 1: and talk about you've never seen it before in last week?
- 7:56Speaker 3: Do this for the pod, We'll say for again. Ah, Well,
- 8:04Speaker 3: I feel like should we do our plugs too? Here?
- 8:06Speaker 3: I'm all out of sorts now, I don't know what's happening.
- 8:09Speaker 1: Uh yeah?
- 8:11Speaker 3: Or do we want to talk about anything else before
- 8:13Speaker 3: we let it go?
- 8:15Speaker 1: Nope, No we don't. But I didn't think about that. Okay,
- 8:21Speaker 1: let's let's do it. Plugs Nate, you want to hear
- 8:25Speaker 1: about where people can hang out with us?
- 8:28Speaker 4: Yeah?
- 8:29Speaker 1: Nice, it's pretty cool.
- 8:31Speaker 3: We're still on Twitter dot com slash the Avid Inendorsman
- 8:34Speaker 3: with a Z. I can go to Facebook dot com,
- 8:37Speaker 3: you can go to Instagram, TikTok, Blue Sky. We're at

- 9:12Speaker 1: give them a lot of other perks. We usually give
- 9:15Speaker 1: them an extended version of every episode that we put out.
- 9:19Speaker 1: It's usually a top five draft that pertains to the
- 9:22Speaker 1: movie we're talking about. And for this one, what we
- 9:27Speaker 1: did it, we did it already.
- 9:29Speaker 3: It's top five time travel films right.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Well, it just says, yes, we did our top five
- 9:34Speaker 1: time travel films with Tripo. It really makes a lot
- 9:38Speaker 1: of sense.
- 9:39Speaker 3: Also hilarious because we were like, well, we can't do
- 9:41Speaker 3: time travel films. We've done that before and I never
- 9:43Speaker 3: did that. I should really start marking what we do
- 9:46Speaker 3: them for.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Yeah, that's smart.
- 9:48Speaker 3: I'm not gonna do it though.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah. Check us out on Patreon, you guys, it's super fun.
- 9:52Speaker 3: Yeah, check it out. Also, you should go to timfosmusic

- 10:01Speaker 3: want to come out. I just realized we're getting close
- 10:04Speaker 3: to that time. Yeah, and the Avid endorsement will be there.
- 10:08Speaker 3: No promises on what we're doing yet, but it's something cool,
- 10:11Speaker 3: so it'll be a good time. And if you're looking
- 10:13Speaker 3: to do that, probably have to do it soon, I
- 10:15Speaker 3: would think, So check it out.
- 10:18Speaker 1: Yeah, timfosmusic dot com.
- 10:19Speaker 3: Yeah, if you drop our name, they won't give you
- 10:21Speaker 3: anything off, but it'll be pretty cool.
- 10:24Speaker 4: Yeah, they might argue more.
- 10:27Speaker 3: They might say that to people that's ten dollars extra.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Ohsh but thanks so much, Nate. You're a good man
- 10:37Speaker 1: and thorough.
- 10:38Speaker 3: And oh I was gonna say that nice.
- 10:40Speaker 1: Thank you and yeah, we just we would still be
- 10:43Speaker 1: recording this episode if for them.
- 10:44Speaker 3: For you, so yeah, you saved us truly.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Thank you, And now listeners enjoy this episode from five
- 10:53Speaker 1: years ago, the thirty fifth anniversary of Back to the Future.
- 10:58Speaker 3: The Sun in the Sky.
- 11:02Speaker 2: We wouldn't know because we're so happy inside some peoples,
- 11:11Speaker 2: but we would rather sit on down and talk some movies.
- 11:14Speaker 2: We're the Avid Indoorsmen. Come listen to our show. We're
- 11:19Speaker 2: the Avid Indoorsmen at home are on the go where
- 11:23Speaker 2: the Avid Indoorsmen.
- 11:26Speaker 1: We hope you love, so come on in and stay.
- 11:30Speaker 1: We'll do our best to thank you. Smile indoors man,
- 11:38Speaker 1: What is happening? I'm Rob Lundquiz and I'm Books and
- 11:41Speaker 1: we are the Avid Indoorsmen. Oh buddy, how you doing, Bud?
- 11:46Speaker 3: You know I'm doing pretty well. How are you today?
- 11:48Speaker 1: I'm doing really well. I'm excited that we are going
- 11:51Speaker 1: to be doing Back to the Future. It's the thirty
- 11:54Speaker 1: fifth anniversary.
- 11:55Speaker 3: I can't believe it.
- 11:56Speaker 1: But what I'm really excited about is that this is
- 11:59Speaker 1: gonna release on July second, and the actual date that
- 12:03Speaker 1: it came out was July third. It's like, we know
- 12:05Speaker 1: what we're doing.
- 12:07Speaker 3: We like we planned it, yeah, sort of, and then
- 12:10Speaker 3: forgot and then realized and then we were like, wow,
- 12:12Speaker 3: we're smart. Right.
- 12:15Speaker 1: I was pretty stoked that we're doing this, like for real, So.
- 12:18Speaker 3: Me too, man, so happy pre fourth of July everybody?
- 12:22Speaker 1: Yeah, absolutely. Do you have any fun plans.
- 12:25Speaker 3: For the fourth I don't really know yet full disclosure,
- 12:29Speaker 3: This is like a week before the fourth right now,
- 12:32Speaker 3: and I haven't planned a head that far. I'll probably
- 12:35Speaker 3: go to my brother's place, I would guess. Sure. It's
- 12:38Speaker 3: gonna be a weird year for Fourth of July, so
- 12:40Speaker 3: I feel like usually it's like the big time in
- 12:42Speaker 3: the summer where everybody gets together. But obviously we're well
- 12:46Speaker 3: I shouldn't say obviously, I'm continuing to not really do that.
- 12:50Speaker 3: The rest of the world has made other choices, and
- 12:53Speaker 3: good luck to all of us, I guess. But yeah,
- 12:56Speaker 3: so I'm probably gonna go hang out with him and
- 13:00Speaker 3: the fam up there. I guess. So that's cool, you know,
- 13:04Speaker 3: celebrate independence, social distance style. I guess sure. Yeah, how
- 13:08Speaker 3: about you? What do you got planned?
- 13:10Speaker 1: Our plans kind of fell through. We were going to
- 13:12Speaker 1: go up north to to Kelsey's folks, but then they
- 13:17Speaker 1: ended up getting some more people involved and we kind
- 13:21Speaker 1: of decided to stay away from that. But yeah, just
- 13:28Speaker 1: probably just going to be staying at home, having my
- 13:31Speaker 1: dog freak out while the fireworks go off, a.
- 13:34Speaker 3: Lot of fireworks going on around the nation, right, yeah,
- 13:36Speaker 3: there already start talking about that.
- 13:38Speaker 1: Yeah, and it's my dog gets so scared, like even
- 13:42Speaker 1: just the thunderstorms and stuff we have going on. Sure,
- 13:45Speaker 1: So yeah, Penny is not a fan of the Fourth Well.
- 13:50Speaker 3: I hope it's easy on her somehow.
- 13:52Speaker 1: Me too, But we'll see. What was what was the
- 13:56Speaker 1: last movie you watched, buddy?
- 13:58Speaker 3: So just I guess it was a week ago already,
- 14:01Speaker 3: but I went over to our buddy Dave's house and
- 14:04Speaker 3: we watched The King of Staten Island.
- 14:07Speaker 1: Oh, the Pete Davidson.
- 14:08Speaker 3: Pete Davidson and jud Appatow film.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Yes, tell me all about it. I'm excited, man.
- 14:13Speaker 3: It was it was interesting, It was funny because we
- 14:16Speaker 3: both liked it, and then afterward we were kind of
- 14:18Speaker 3: talking about it like you do, and I was just like, yeah,
- 14:22Speaker 3: I did like it. I had fun while watching it,
- 14:24Speaker 3: but then it was like, the more I think about it,
- 14:27Speaker 3: the more like muddled it is though. So it's not
- 14:29Speaker 3: like an amazing movie, but it is really fun. He's
- 14:33Speaker 3: very charismatic, as I'm sure everybody knows. The story is
- 14:37Speaker 3: pretty intense at parts, and I didn't know before, but
- 14:40Speaker 3: it's a true or at least based on his true
- 14:44Speaker 3: life story.
- 14:45Speaker 1: So does it talk about his dad dying in nine
- 14:48Speaker 1: to eleven?
- 14:48Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's like a big plot point and stuff,
- 14:52Speaker 3: not specifically nine to eleven, but it talks about his
- 14:55Speaker 3: dad who was a firefighter and stuff like that. Yeah. Yeah,
- 14:59Speaker 3: and it's you know, it's it's great man Mursa Tilma
- 15:02Speaker 3: is in it. She's amazing, she's his mom. She's just
- 15:06Speaker 3: always so good, I feel like. And then Bill Burr's
- 15:10Speaker 3: in it, and he's a great actor. I feel like
- 15:13Speaker 3: we've learned that a few times now, but it still
- 15:16Speaker 3: kind of surprises me every time.
- 15:17Speaker 1: He was just a mandalorian for sure.
- 15:19Speaker 3: Yeah, really good in that, I thought too. Yeah, so,
- 15:24Speaker 3: but yeah, it was. It was fun man. I had
- 15:26Speaker 3: a good time with it. I wouldn't like go in,
- 15:29Speaker 3: you know, thinking it's going to be a masterpiece by
- 15:31Speaker 3: any means. But it was really fun and it was
- 15:33Speaker 3: fun to see a movie because we, like, I went
- 15:36Speaker 3: over there and we rented it, you know, on demand,
- 15:39Speaker 3: so it was like a new movie right when it
- 15:41Speaker 3: came out. That was kind of fun to get that
- 15:42Speaker 3: vibe back. And yeah, yeah, definitely worth checking out for sure.
- 15:46Speaker 1: Is it the classic Apatow half hour too long?
- 15:49Speaker 3: Not at all. No, this is the least Appatow feeling
- 15:54Speaker 3: movie I've seen of his collection. Yeah. And I don't
- 15:57Speaker 3: say that deridingly because I really like his movies too.
- 16:00Speaker 3: But what you're saying, yeah it is. Maybe it's shades
- 16:05Speaker 3: of a little bit too long, but it's uh yeah,
- 16:09Speaker 3: I don't know. I don't want to disparage it. It
- 16:10Speaker 3: was just like, after thinking about it, I was like, yeah,
- 16:13Speaker 3: I wonder it left me with more questions than answers.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Maybe it's the right the right way to say it,
- 16:17Speaker 3: but uh sure, not in a bad way, I guess.
- 16:20Speaker 3: So I had fun.
- 16:21Speaker 1: Yeah, very cool man.
- 16:22Speaker 3: How about you? What? Uh, what's the last movie you watched,
- 16:25Speaker 3: bud Well.
- 16:25Speaker 1: The very first thing that I watched on HBO Max
- 16:30Speaker 1: when we got it was the new Hugh Jackman Allison
- 16:35Speaker 1: Janny film Bad Education.
- 16:38Speaker 3: Oh, how is that? I've been meaning to check it out.
- 16:40Speaker 1: It's solid, man, It's uh. It's a true story of
- 16:45Speaker 1: a New York private school superintendent. Oh and he embezzles
- 16:52Speaker 1: a ton of money from the school.
- 16:54Speaker 3: And that sounds about right.
- 16:55Speaker 1: It's kind of just kind of dealing with that, and
- 16:59Speaker 1: it's been are that it's a true story and all
- 17:02Speaker 1: of that craziness. But sure, the acting performances are what
- 17:06Speaker 1: are really impressive in this film. For sure.
- 17:08Speaker 3: Cool.
- 17:09Speaker 1: I think we're probably gonna see Hugh Jackman nominated, maybe
- 17:14Speaker 1: Alison Janny as well.
- 17:16Speaker 3: Oh no kidding, really yeah.
- 17:17Speaker 1: I wouldn't be I mean I wouldn't be surprised now.
- 17:20Speaker 3: I mean, I love both of them a ton, So
- 17:23Speaker 3: I get it.
- 17:24Speaker 1: And we're we're way early on that, so you know,
- 17:28Speaker 1: there could be one hundred other movies that come out
- 17:31Speaker 1: that are way more intense, but like, right now, it's
- 17:36Speaker 1: for sure what I would put on the top of
- 17:37Speaker 1: the list.
- 17:38Speaker 3: Did you see that they extended the window as well
- 17:41Speaker 3: for the Academy Awards.
- 17:43Speaker 1: No, I didn't.
- 17:44Speaker 3: Yeah, so it goes I think up to or somewhere
- 17:48Speaker 3: around February. It goes through January anyway, Okay, cool, and
- 17:52Speaker 3: then they're gonna have sort of like a like a
- 17:54Speaker 3: pre populated list of like movies that have been out
- 17:57Speaker 3: for a while that they think are going to be
- 17:59Speaker 3: on the short list then, but you can still kind
- 18:01Speaker 3: of sneak in later, I guess. So, Okay, that'll be
- 18:04Speaker 3: interesting and we can break that down if we ever
- 18:06Speaker 3: are curious about it. But sure, that's how they made
- 18:09Speaker 3: some stuff. And they have a date set in it's
- 18:12Speaker 3: either April or May, so that's even pushed back a
- 18:14Speaker 3: little bit.
- 18:15Speaker 1: Right, Yeah, yeah, it's usually in February.
- 18:17Speaker 3: Yeah, okay, that's what I thought. So, but they're planning
- 18:20Speaker 3: and so maybe they think they can actually get people
- 18:22Speaker 3: together at that point, so that'd be sweet.
- 18:24Speaker 1: Well, yeah, if these theaters don't start making people require masks,
- 18:29Speaker 1: I'm I'm not gonna be going.
- 18:31Speaker 3: AMC decided the day after they said they wouldn't that
- 18:34Speaker 3: they will. So that's cool, step in the right direction.
- 18:37Speaker 1: At least I got to look and see what Marcus does,
- 18:39Speaker 1: because that's the closest one to me.
- 18:41Speaker 3: Yeah, I don't know, and it's just gonna be. It's
- 18:45Speaker 3: like everything else. You know, if someone wants to be
- 18:47Speaker 3: a buttthead and not wear it, they can just decide
- 18:49Speaker 3: not to do it, you know.
- 18:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:51Speaker 3: So, but I hear you. It'll be interesting to see
- 18:54Speaker 3: what actually goes down with all that.
- 18:56Speaker 1: Yeah, for sure. But I would totally recommend seeing Bad
- 19:00Speaker 1: Education just to see some pretty awesome acting.
- 19:03Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll definitely do that. That sounds great. What have you? Oh? Dude?
- 19:07Speaker 3: So great?
- 19:09Speaker 1: Well, and h Ray Romano showed up again. We were
- 19:12Speaker 1: just talking to him. He's the best and he's really
- 19:15Speaker 1: good in it, Dude.
- 19:16Speaker 3: In a dramatic role, no doubt.
- 19:18Speaker 1: Just yeah. I mean he's kind of the levity that,
- 19:20Speaker 1: you know, it gets a little lighter, but he's still
- 19:23Speaker 1: pretty dramatic. And yeah, man, he really can.
- 19:28Speaker 3: That's awesome.
- 19:30Speaker 1: What have you been streaming though?
- 19:31Speaker 3: Uh? So also on HBO Max. I've been really going
- 19:35Speaker 3: after HBO Max just because they got so much stuff
- 19:38Speaker 3: I watched. I believe you also really love this film.
- 19:41Speaker 3: I know I do. It's just it was I just
- 19:45Speaker 3: love Tom Hanks and his brain. So I watched that thing.
- 19:48Speaker 3: You do. Oh yeah, yeah, because it's so fun. Should
- 19:51Speaker 3: be required viewing for anyone in a band or that
- 19:54Speaker 3: ever thinks about being in a band.
- 19:55Speaker 1: Totally. I feel bad that our guest isn't here because
- 19:59Speaker 1: I know he loves I know, I know.
- 20:01Speaker 3: He loves it. Yeah, I'll have to mention it to
- 20:03Speaker 3: him that I just saw it or whatever. But yeah,
- 20:05Speaker 3: just if anyone hasn't seen that movie, please go watch it.
- 20:09Speaker 3: It's so much fun. Uh. Tom Hanks wrote and directed it,
- 20:13Speaker 3: I believe as well.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Right, I think, Yeah, that was his first Yeah.
- 20:17Speaker 3: Yeah, and uh, just great. You get to see Colin
- 20:21Speaker 3: Hanks makes an appearance. Yeah, he's one of the astronauts
- 20:29Speaker 3: when they go on the Late Show. There's also just
- 20:31Speaker 3: a ton of other people that make like little snippet appearances.
- 20:35Speaker 3: It's really fun.
- 20:36Speaker 1: I remember Kevin has a little yes bit where he
- 20:39Speaker 1: like he's one of the mcs at a show or something.
- 20:43Speaker 3: Yep, exactly. Yeah, and it's it's just so fun and
- 20:46Speaker 3: it makes me think about all the like State Fair
- 20:49Speaker 3: shows I've done and you no doubt have done. Yeah,
- 20:53Speaker 3: but yeah, they're just fun. Man. It's just a fun movie.
- 20:56Speaker 3: It's a good time. It is. Yeah, how about you.
- 20:58Speaker 3: What have you been streaming?
- 21:00Speaker 1: We checked out the Dave Chappelle Mark Twain Prize special.
- 21:07Speaker 1: He got the Mark Twain Award.
- 21:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and.
- 21:10Speaker 1: So it's you know, it's them at Kennedy Center and stuff.
- 21:14Speaker 1: But Kelsey and We've been loving everything to Chappelle puts out.
- 21:17Speaker 1: And I was actually able to see him live in
- 21:21Speaker 1: Amsterdam with Adam Rupp. That's awesome, kind of before the
- 21:24Speaker 1: whole world fell apart. It was like, right, it seems
- 21:27Speaker 1: like a life well and you know, I was in
- 21:29Speaker 1: a giant arena with you know, twenty thousand people and weird.
- 21:35Speaker 1: But yeah, this thing was really cool, like the I've
- 21:40Speaker 1: seen some of the other Mark Twain like award shows
- 21:43Speaker 1: and stuff, and this one was a lot cooler because
- 21:45Speaker 1: it it it went back like into Dave's history and
- 21:50Speaker 1: like showed old performances of his stand up and it
- 21:54Speaker 1: showed me, you know, clips from the Chappelle Show and
- 21:57Speaker 1: all that stuff, and then it would go back to
- 22:00Speaker 1: like the award show where they'd have you know, different
- 22:03Speaker 1: celebrities talking about him, and it was just really cool
- 22:07Speaker 1: how they did it. And they also the night before
- 22:10Speaker 1: he was supposed to get the award they went to
- 22:15Speaker 1: the comedy club where he started in d C. And
- 22:20Speaker 1: he like did a set there and so that set too,
- 22:24Speaker 1: and it was fun. Man, Like, that's really he's just
- 22:29Speaker 1: a genius and it was fun. Here.
- 22:31Speaker 3: Where did you stream it?
- 22:32Speaker 1: It's on Netflix?
- 22:33Speaker 3: Oh lovely, Okay, cool. I have to check that out
- 22:36Speaker 3: for sure.
- 22:37Speaker 1: Yeah, he's got so many things out just within the
- 22:40Speaker 1: last two years.
- 22:41Speaker 3: I know. I actually was like, oh, is this the
- 22:44Speaker 3: thing that he did in Ohio recently?
- 22:46Speaker 1: No, I watched that too.
- 22:47Speaker 3: I did too, and that was great.
- 22:49Speaker 1: I just saw that on Instagram.
- 22:51Speaker 3: But yeah, I watched that on YouTube. I think I
- 22:53Speaker 3: don't even know if it's on like actual special. Yeah, yeah,
- 22:57Speaker 3: I don't.
- 22:58Speaker 1: I'm not sure, but yeah, this is way funnier than
- 23:03Speaker 1: what he did there. Yeah, but I would totally check
- 23:07Speaker 1: that out. It was it was really fun.
- 23:09Speaker 3: Nice. I will have to do that. I really do
- 23:11Speaker 3: like him a lot, so man, nice, that's great.
- 23:14Speaker 1: What have you been eating anything anything? Super fun?
- 23:17Speaker 3: Yeah? I went a little a little crazy the other
- 23:20Speaker 3: day and I got Jets pizza. Have you ever had
- 23:24Speaker 3: Jets pizza?
- 23:24Speaker 1: I have had Jets pizza. It's been a while, but yeah.
- 23:27Speaker 3: Very good. Detroit style which I super like. I'm finding out.
- 23:31Speaker 1: I didn't know that we actually had them here.
- 23:34Speaker 3: There's a few. So there's actually one that's pretty new
- 23:38Speaker 3: near my house, which is really gonna be tough for me,
- 23:42Speaker 3: but you know, we're gonna try our best. And yeah,
- 23:46Speaker 3: there's just a few around the Twin Cities are.
- 23:48Speaker 1: I've only had them on the road, like we've been
- 23:51Speaker 1: shows and stuff.
- 23:52Speaker 3: Good pizza, you know, it's kind of at least I've
- 23:54Speaker 3: only got the like deep dish there with the nice
- 23:57Speaker 3: crusty outside where they put the cheese in cast iron
- 24:00Speaker 3: pan and stuff. It's sure, it's really good. And I
- 24:03Speaker 3: had a nice little pie with the what do we have?
- 24:05Speaker 3: We had sausage and onion and some banana peppers. It
- 24:09Speaker 3: was very tasty.
- 24:10Speaker 1: Ooh, I haven't had banana peppers in forever.
- 24:12Speaker 3: That's oh yeah, they're really good, man, They're zesty, and
- 24:15Speaker 3: I like them.
- 24:15Speaker 1: I pretty much would only get those on subway sandwiches,
- 24:19Speaker 1: and I have been I haven't been to a subway
- 24:22Speaker 1: in like five years.
- 24:23Speaker 3: I mean, because why would you really?
- 24:24Speaker 1: Right, we were on a subway kick for a while.
- 24:29Speaker 3: Dude, when I used to love subway, when we were
- 24:32Speaker 3: to be honest, if they if they want to support
- 24:34Speaker 3: us in any way, I'm happy to eat it every
- 24:36Speaker 3: day in my life. Oh for sure. Yeah they could.
- 24:38Speaker 3: We could do quite a before and after. Maybe that's
- 24:41Speaker 3: what I've been training for all these years. But yeah,
- 24:47Speaker 3: So Jet's pizza really tasty stuff. If you have one around,
- 24:50Speaker 3: you go check it out.
- 24:51Speaker 1: Cool.
- 24:51Speaker 3: How about you, buddy, What's what have you been eating?
- 24:53Speaker 1: Uh? Kelsey's just been cooking up a storm, doing awesome stuff,
- 24:57Speaker 1: trying different recipes and things, which has been.
- 25:00Speaker 3: Fun, so fun.
- 25:01Speaker 1: But she she did this, she made like her own
- 25:05Speaker 1: sauce with like herbs that we've been planting because she's
- 25:10Speaker 1: been planting. So it was really fun.
- 25:16Speaker 3: Man.
- 25:16Speaker 1: So it was these she she cooked up these chicken
- 25:20Speaker 1: thighs into this herbed mushroom cream sauce. Uh, and then
- 25:25Speaker 1: on the side with spinach that had parmesan cheese on it,
- 25:28Speaker 1: and it just it was just so tasty. She's been
- 25:32Speaker 1: doing really really fun things, and I've been having to
- 25:35Speaker 1: cook a lot, and so then the kids get, you know,
- 25:38Speaker 1: they get to be spoiled when their mom cooks and
- 25:40Speaker 1: then have to eat the gruel I put in dogs
- 25:44Speaker 1: exactly cook. Yeah, so it balances it out.
- 25:49Speaker 3: Although do your kids like the mac and cheese? Are
- 25:51Speaker 3: they into that?
- 25:52Speaker 1: Oh so much?
- 25:52Speaker 3: I mean I think everyone is. But yeah, have you
- 25:55Speaker 3: ever done the mac and cheese the octopus hot dogs
- 25:58Speaker 3: before for them? No?
- 25:59Speaker 1: I've never been heard of this.
- 26:00Speaker 3: Oh, rob okay, So if you want to score points
- 26:02Speaker 3: next time, yeah, you cut up the hot dogs right yeah,
- 26:05Speaker 3: and then you just make a few cuts around one
- 26:08Speaker 3: of the bottoms, like halfway up, and then you put
- 26:11Speaker 3: the hot dogs in the last couple, like maybe a
- 26:14Speaker 3: minute or two while it's still boiling the water for
- 26:16Speaker 3: the noodles, and those little legs that you cut will
- 26:19Speaker 3: go out into little tentacles. It's so cool. Oh my gosh,
- 26:23Speaker 3: it's real cute. You should totally do it.
- 26:25Speaker 1: That's a cool idea. I'll have to look it up.
- 26:27Speaker 3: But yeah, kids love it. I do it for myself.
- 26:30Speaker 3: The kids also like it, uh from what I understand,
- 26:33Speaker 3: So yeah, worth checking out for sure. Very cool. Man,

- 28:46Speaker 3: to talk about, like we just mentioned that great film
- 28:49Speaker 3: Back to the Future, so we had to find, you know,
- 28:53Speaker 3: one of the coolest dudes. We know a guy that
- 28:56Speaker 3: we that we know loves today but also loves the
- 29:00Speaker 3: past more than anyone I can think of. So we
- 29:02Speaker 3: had to bring them on. It's Potato himself. Ladies and gentlemen,
- 29:06Speaker 3: it's Nate.
- 29:07Speaker 1: What's up, Nate? What is up? It's good to see you, man,
- 29:10Speaker 1: it's been so long. I miss your face.
- 29:13Speaker 5: I miss your face. I very much enjoyed your TikTok.
- 29:18Speaker 3: Oh. Yeah, wasn't that amazing?
- 29:22Speaker 1: Man? Yeah, I saw you retweeted that.
- 29:23Speaker 5: Oh it's so good. It has a very Farley esque
- 29:27Speaker 5: feel to it.
- 29:28Speaker 1: And yeah, yeah, very well. I'm just a big dumb
- 29:31Speaker 1: animal like you is, so that makes sense. But I yeah,
- 29:35Speaker 1: I had to watch a YouTube tutorial. I felt like
- 29:39Speaker 1: the oldest person on the planet making that TikTok. So
- 29:43Speaker 1: I'm glad you enjoyed it, because it really took a
- 29:45Speaker 1: lot of effort on my pocket.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Rob puts several hours in there. Was like, I'm working,
- 29:55Speaker 3: damn it. I'm on the most important call of my life.
- 30:01Speaker 1: Just doing a TikTok.
- 30:02Speaker 3: Kids, tick poking, you'll get it someday. Now they'll be
- 30:06Speaker 3: onto something else.
- 30:07Speaker 5: Oh sure, Yeah, TikTok is going to be done in
- 30:10Speaker 5: like a year and there will be some other thing.
- 30:13Speaker 3: Yeah right.
- 30:14Speaker 1: All the kids are on it right now, though, And
- 30:16Speaker 1: I'm just an old man on there, so trying to
- 30:19Speaker 1: figure it out.
- 30:19Speaker 5: Good old uncle Rob.
- 30:23Speaker 3: That's trying to stay young, you know it. But you
- 30:26Speaker 3: know one thing that's really stuck around so far is Facebook,
- 30:29Speaker 3: and you guys can go to Nathan Rhoads Facebook, Facebook
- 30:31Speaker 3: dot Com, slash Nathan Rhoads or at Nathan roads on
- 30:35Speaker 3: the Twitter machine, so make sure to check those out.
- 30:37Speaker 1: That was such a sweet transition into his plugs. I
- 30:41Speaker 1: really that well.
- 30:42Speaker 3: I'm just I'm super happy to have Nathaniel Roadstone here.
- 30:46Speaker 5: I'm just excited to be talking to you.
- 30:49Speaker 3: Isn't Nathaniel It's not.
- 30:51Speaker 5: No, it's not It's just Nathan. I wish it was
- 30:53Speaker 5: in Roadstone.
- 30:56Speaker 3: Can we work on changing that? Yeah, you're pretty bound
- 30:59Speaker 3: to it.
- 30:59Speaker 5: I'm in at this point. I have like seventeen nicknames,
- 31:02Speaker 5: so I don't really that is true.
- 31:04Speaker 3: It's right, it's true. I did call you Potato.
- 31:06Speaker 5: Already, I mean, which works for men.
- 31:11Speaker 3: I love it. Well, guys, we're here to talk about
- 31:13Speaker 3: back to the future. Should we get started with the
- 31:16Speaker 3: rough synopsis?
- 31:17Speaker 1: Yeah, here we go. Small town, California. Teen Marty McFly
- 31:22Speaker 1: is thrown back into the fifties when an experiment by
- 31:25Speaker 1: his eccentric scientist friend Doc Brown goes awry. Traveling through
- 31:30Speaker 1: time in a modified DeLorean, Marty encounters young versions of
- 31:34Speaker 1: his parents and must make sure that they fall in
- 31:37Speaker 1: love or he'll cease to exist. Even more dauntingly, Marty
- 31:42Speaker 1: has to return to his own time and save the
- 31:45Speaker 1: life of Doc Brown.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Nice.
- 31:49Speaker 1: Nice.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Let's go over to Rotten Tomatoes and see what they
- 31:52Speaker 3: have to say about this. Critics have this at ninety
- 31:56Speaker 3: six percent guys, boom, that is fresh afresh, that's like
- 32:02Speaker 3: you just pulled it off the vine.
- 32:03Speaker 1: Fresh, oh man, delicious, crunchy and wonderful, ah, delightful.
- 32:08Speaker 3: And audience members have this just about just about us high,
- 32:11Speaker 3: just a couple of clicks lower at ninety four percent beautiful.
- 32:13Speaker 3: I think also very fresh, very good, so needless to
- 32:16Speaker 3: say it. With those very high ratings, it was a
- 32:18Speaker 3: little difficult to find a bad review, but the Internet
- 32:23Speaker 3: will never let you down. You can always find something negative.
- 32:25Speaker 3: So here we go. This is from John Hartle of
- 32:28Speaker 3: film dot Com. John says so busy being clever that
- 32:33Speaker 3: it trips over its own ingenuity.
- 32:37Speaker 1: Whatever he's tripping, he's straight tripping.
- 32:40Speaker 3: He's tripping. Thank you, Rob, Thank you fantastic. Let's go
- 32:43Speaker 3: to a good review. Now, this is from the entirety
- 32:47Speaker 3: of the staff at Variety. They say performance is by
- 32:50Speaker 3: the Ernest Fox, the lunatic Lloyd, the deceptively passionate Leah Thompson,
- 32:55Speaker 3: and particularly the bumbling to confident Glover who runs away
- 32:59Speaker 3: with the pick. Sure, merely keep the ship a sail
- 33:02Speaker 3: and along.
- 33:03Speaker 1: Oh that's cool, But it's Michael J. Fox. It's not
- 33:06Speaker 1: Ernest Fox. What are yeah?
- 33:08Speaker 3: They I don't know why they got his name wrong.
- 33:10Speaker 3: They didn't even capitalize it, so it's extra confused.
- 33:12Speaker 1: Variety figure it out.
- 33:15Speaker 5: It's a tough name.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Given.
- 33:20Speaker 3: It's very difficult. You're right, well, so we go right
- 33:23Speaker 3: into a cash we talk about our hot takes to
- 33:26Speaker 3: our hot takes.
- 33:27Speaker 1: Oo, hot take.
- 33:31Speaker 3: That's a hot take. I'll go first with this one.
- 33:34Speaker 3: I love this movie. So, this movie is thirty five
- 33:38Speaker 3: years old, you know, coming tomorrow. I guess right. We said, yeah,
- 33:42Speaker 3: I'm the third so and this movie predates me only
- 33:47Speaker 3: by like two weeks. So it's near and dear to
- 33:51Speaker 3: my heart. It's been around my whole life. I've watched
- 33:53Speaker 3: it a ton over the years. I love the music,
- 33:56Speaker 3: I love the like silliness that happens. They're so much
- 34:00Speaker 3: of it that I really really like it was fun
- 34:03Speaker 3: to watch it this time with like a little bit
- 34:05Speaker 3: more of a critical eye. And it was just neat
- 34:09Speaker 3: to watch the juxtaposition of what the eighties were portrayed
- 34:13Speaker 3: as it was very dirty, very there was a lot
- 34:17Speaker 3: of dirty theaters and stuff like that. It was kind
- 34:20Speaker 3: of crazy, and then they chose to juxtapose that with
- 34:23Speaker 3: the fifties and their pristine opulence. I just thought that
- 34:27Speaker 3: was all really fun and beautifully done on the rewatch.
- 34:30Speaker 3: And I know it can be tempting to look back
- 34:32Speaker 3: and only see the good of the past, but it's
- 34:35Speaker 3: fun to think about now, if we did a movie
- 34:39Speaker 3: now where we went back, you know, to when this
- 34:42Speaker 3: came out in eighty five, what would be different about
- 34:44Speaker 3: the way we do it? And my favorite part about this,
- 34:47Speaker 3: I think is we see, Marty understand, just like so
- 34:52Speaker 3: many of us have understood now, that our parents have
- 34:54Speaker 3: like a really a really rich past, you know, and
- 34:58Speaker 3: there it's not that they're nothing like they are now,
- 35:01Speaker 3: but they've grown a lot to get to where they
- 35:03Speaker 3: are now. So it's neat to see them, you know,
- 35:06Speaker 3: growing and evolving and see how his parents have failed
- 35:10Speaker 3: and succeeded over life. I just really thought that was
- 35:13Speaker 3: fun in the rewatch, and the friendship between Doc and
- 35:17Speaker 3: Marty is is just a delight. I really have a
- 35:20Speaker 3: good time with that. And yeah, I just think it's
- 35:23Speaker 3: it's really neat to watch a movie that's this old,
- 35:26Speaker 3: that holds up that well and it's still really enchanting.
- 35:31Speaker 3: I still had a great time with it. It's not
- 35:33Speaker 3: without its flaws, but it's almost like you know that
- 35:36Speaker 3: friend that you're like, oh, yeah, he's just kind of crazy.
- 35:39Speaker 3: That's how I felt about the stuff in this movie
- 35:41Speaker 3: where I was like, oh, that doesn't make a lot
- 35:42Speaker 3: of sense. Oh well, I just love it, you know.
- 35:44Speaker 3: So I had a great time. I thought it was
- 35:47Speaker 3: super good. And that's my.
- 35:49Speaker 1: Hot take hot take, like thanks, Yeah, this was one
- 35:54Speaker 1: of my favorite experiences, like rewatching a film for this podcast,
- 36:00Speaker 1: because it has been forever since I've seen Back to
- 36:03Speaker 1: the Future, and I didn't remember much of the beginning
- 36:06Speaker 1: at all, but man, it totally holds up to your point.
- 36:12Speaker 1: It's funny and suspenseful, and it looked really good, Like
- 36:17Speaker 1: CGI wise, aside from his hand starting to disappear when
- 36:21Speaker 1: he's playing the guitar. That was pretty bad.
- 36:24Speaker 3: That was the only thing that was a little that
- 36:25Speaker 3: was pretty oh was it? Yeah, you're right, I didn't
- 36:33Speaker 3: even notice that, but you're totally that's fine.
- 36:35Speaker 1: So that wasn't great. But I really did think it
- 36:39Speaker 1: was just masterful filmmaking with like the entire end sequence,
- 36:46Speaker 1: the suspense just builds and builds and builds and yeah,
- 36:49Speaker 1: and he finally makes it back to the future and
- 36:51Speaker 1: then there's even more suspense, but because he's got to
- 36:53Speaker 1: save Doc. I just all of that was so great.
- 36:56Speaker 1: I thought it was perfectly paced, and it seemed like
- 37:00Speaker 1: almost all of the dialogue that's mentioned in the beginning
- 37:04Speaker 1: comes back later. It was like perfect exposition.
- 37:07Speaker 3: I felt like.
- 37:09Speaker 1: I loved that everyone thought he was wearing a life preserver.
- 37:12Speaker 1: That made me laugh every time. And I was looking
- 37:15Speaker 1: forward to seeing Elizabeth Shoe and then remember she doesn't
- 37:18Speaker 1: come in until the second film, so that that was
- 37:21Speaker 1: a bum. Yeah, but the soundtrack is so amazing. It's
- 37:26Speaker 1: so great getting to to hear Huey Lewis and see him.
- 37:31Speaker 3: Oh, it's the best. I thought.
- 37:33Speaker 1: Alan Silvestri's score is one of the most iconic scores
- 37:37Speaker 1: of all time, and he was he wasn't nominated. He's
- 37:40Speaker 1: never been nominated for an Oscar, which which is crazy.
- 37:44Speaker 1: That's not true. He has been nominated for a couple
- 37:46Speaker 1: of Oscars, but he's.
- 37:46Speaker 3: Never won an Oscar, never won one.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I think he was nominated for Forrest Gump and something else.
- 37:52Speaker 1: But anyway, he's done roughly like a billion other films,
- 37:57Speaker 1: but no Oscar.
- 37:58Speaker 3: Yeah, got quite quite the history.
- 38:02Speaker 1: Yeah, the filmography is intense and it's Yeah. I just
- 38:05Speaker 1: thought it was so good. I can't believe it wasn't
- 38:07Speaker 1: even nominated. But yeah, I love this and I'm gonna
- 38:12Speaker 1: end up watching the other ones too, because I haven't
- 38:14Speaker 1: seen them in forever either, and say, they're all on
- 38:16Speaker 1: Netflix right now like all of our other social distancing sessions.
- 38:19Speaker 1: So yeah, I'm definitely gonna get on it. It was
- 38:22Speaker 1: so much fun, awesome. Yeah, Nate, what do you think, buddy?
- 38:29Speaker 5: Nah, this is hands down one of my favorite movies
- 38:35Speaker 5: of all time. I have probably seen this movie more
- 38:39Speaker 5: than any other movie, and primarily because it's a rock
- 38:43Speaker 5: and roll movie. Like this movie came into my life
- 38:50Speaker 5: at the exact same time rock and roll did. In fact,
- 38:52Speaker 5: this movie is the reason I put the tape in
- 38:55Speaker 5: the tape recorder player because my dad had a tape
- 38:59Speaker 5: labeled van Halen and I remember watching the movie and he,
- 39:03Speaker 5: you know, scares his dad. So I was just searching
- 39:07Speaker 5: through my dad's tapes and I found a tape that
- 39:08Speaker 5: said van Halen and I put it in and then
- 39:11Speaker 5: rock and Roll.
- 39:13Speaker 3: So awesome.
- 39:15Speaker 5: Ah, this movie is so well done. They pay attention
- 39:20Speaker 5: to so many details, Like I mean, there are obviously mistakes,
- 39:26Speaker 5: but it's it's really easy to get past those because
- 39:30Speaker 5: they do such a good job with all the other things,
- 39:34Speaker 5: just all the minute little details like throughout all three films,
- 39:40Speaker 5: really but just going. Like the way they portray his
- 39:46Speaker 5: family in the eighties and the fifties is so well
- 39:49Speaker 5: done because you can feel the connection and they're all
- 39:53Speaker 5: like you were talking about. You feel them grow and
- 39:55Speaker 5: like see that they are people too, they're not just
- 39:58Speaker 5: his parents. And I thought they did such a good
- 40:01Speaker 5: job of making the storyline pretty seamless and flow, like
- 40:06Speaker 5: there's not a point in the movie where you're like, oh,
- 40:09Speaker 5: come on, keep moving. It's just stuff keeps happening. And
- 40:14Speaker 5: I love the Huey Lewis cameo. Yes, and I almost
- 40:20Speaker 5: named my band in high school the Pinheads because of that.
- 40:27Speaker 5: But yeah, that was well, you guys know what, Huey
- 40:32Speaker 5: Lewis has been having hearing issues like the last year,
- 40:34Speaker 5: and I blame them because they were just too gosh
- 40:38Speaker 5: darn loud.
- 40:43Speaker 1: That's funny kind of Yeah. I was happy I got
- 40:50Speaker 1: to see him at at Mystic Lake years ago. Yeah,
- 40:56Speaker 1: good old Mistake Lake, Good old Mistake Lake. But yeah, man,
- 41:00Speaker 1: I think it's, you know, gonna be one of his
- 41:02Speaker 1: last performances, which is just such a bummer. He was
- 41:05Speaker 1: killing it.
- 41:06Speaker 5: He's so good. He's he's one of those artists that
- 41:09Speaker 5: just crosses overall genres and his band is.
- 41:13Speaker 3: Killer Yeah, Yeah for sure.
- 41:17Speaker 1: Nice Yeah, nice dude, groovy man.
- 41:20Speaker 3: Well, very good hot takes. Should we go right into
- 41:23Speaker 3: our favorite acting performance?
- 41:24Speaker 6: Let's dude, I'm the dude, so that's what you call me,
- 41:30Speaker 6: you know that? Or his dudeus or duder or you know,
- 41:36Speaker 6: el dud reno. If you're not into the whole brevity.
- 41:39Speaker 1: Thing, Nate, we'll start with you, buddy, Yeah, what's your
- 41:41Speaker 1: favorite acting performance in this But to one.
- 41:44Speaker 5: Well, I mean it's really easy to go with the
- 41:47Speaker 5: obvious Michael J. Fox was phenomenal. I think the whole thing.
- 41:57Speaker 5: He by far and obviously is the main character. But
- 42:01Speaker 5: I forget the guy's name that he replaced, because there
- 42:03Speaker 5: was Originally it was cast as somebody Earl Stole. Yeah,
- 42:06Speaker 5: and I watched some of the outtakes of his stuff,
- 42:10Speaker 5: and oh my gosh, Michael J. Fox just brings it
- 42:13Speaker 5: to a whole different level, like his comedic timing and
- 42:18Speaker 5: ability to to move the be comedic but also keep
- 42:24Speaker 5: it serious, not like slapstick. He does such a good
- 42:28Speaker 5: job and it's hard. I mean, I don't know if
- 42:32Speaker 5: anybody else can compete with him in this movie because
- 42:35Speaker 5: the movie's really about him. But I mean, obviously Christopher
- 42:42Speaker 5: Lloyd was phenomenal as well, But I think I have
- 42:45Speaker 5: to go with the lame answer of Michael J.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Fox.
- 42:49Speaker 1: Hey man, I get it.
- 42:50Speaker 3: Michael J.
- 42:50Speaker 1: Fox was amazing, and I agree, like he does that
- 42:54Speaker 1: concerned like stressed out, but he's also able to add
- 42:58Speaker 1: that humor in keeps it upbeat. He does that, He's
- 43:03Speaker 1: just so charming and likable. It's very easy to see
- 43:07Speaker 1: why he became a TV star and a movie star. Yeah. So,
- 43:13Speaker 1: I mean that's for sure. But I was actually gonna
- 43:16Speaker 1: pick Christopher Lloyd from this last viewing because oh, Doc
- 43:20Speaker 1: makes these films for me. He is so funny. His
- 43:24Speaker 1: shocked expressions are so hilarious every time they make me laugh,
- 43:29Speaker 1: and his catch phrase is probably one of the most
- 43:32Speaker 1: iconic lines in movie history. I just loved everything about
- 43:37Speaker 1: Doc on this last watch. It was so much fun.
- 43:40Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, that's a great picture. I know. And where
- 43:47Speaker 3: does like, was great Scott a thing before this movie
- 43:49Speaker 3: or did he totally just did they just come up
- 43:52Speaker 3: with it for this film, because it is like a
- 43:56Speaker 3: I don't know, You're right, Rob, it's one of the
- 43:58Speaker 3: more famous things now for sure.
- 44:00Speaker 5: Well, yes, wild he has a handful of like little
- 44:03Speaker 5: lines like that that have kind of blossomed.
- 44:06Speaker 1: Ye.
- 44:08Speaker 5: Yeah, he's phenomenally like, he's infectious.
- 44:11Speaker 3: I love it. I probably would have picked between those two.
- 44:16Speaker 3: I think I would have gave the edge to Michael J. Fox.
- 44:20Speaker 3: But yeah, I don't think you can really go wrong
- 44:22Speaker 3: with either one of them because they're both just so
- 44:25Speaker 3: darned good. They're both just so fun. So yeah, I'm
- 44:30Speaker 3: gonna I'm gonnacede my time to the Tucci.
- 44:32Speaker 1: I think actually, okay, all right, I like it. How
- 44:35Speaker 1: do you feel about that? That sounds great to me,
- 44:37Speaker 1: Nate Nice? What do you think about the Tucci Award?
- 44:42Speaker 1: Tucci is of course named after the Stanley Tucci the
- 44:45Speaker 1: best like supporting actor ever. Who do you think is
- 44:50Speaker 1: like the best supporting role in this film?
- 44:52Speaker 5: Man, this is a tough one. I mean. Leah Thompson
- 44:58Speaker 5: is phenomenal and such a freakin heart thro which her
- 45:06Speaker 5: I didn't realize her daughter till recently is what's that
- 45:10Speaker 5: baseball movie? She has a daughter that's like in her
- 45:13Speaker 5: mid twenties. She's a really good actress as well. I
- 45:17Speaker 5: forget her name, but.
- 45:20Speaker 3: Look it up.
- 45:21Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm intrigued. I didn't know that's in the biz.
- 45:26Speaker 5: Yeah, I really wanted to say Leah Thompson. But I
- 45:33Speaker 5: in the Stanley Tucci realm of things, I would probably
- 45:37Speaker 5: lean to lean towards James Tolkien, oh Principal Strickland, because
- 45:45Speaker 5: if you go through all three movies, he doesn't play
- 45:49Speaker 5: a significant role, but he is the authority like he
- 45:54Speaker 5: he is almost what drives Marty to be better because
- 45:59Speaker 5: he's always he's always in those little pinnacle scenes and
- 46:03Speaker 5: just being kind of a.
- 46:04Speaker 3: Dick, and he really is.
- 46:09Speaker 5: Yeah, he does a He does a good job of
- 46:12Speaker 5: pushing Marty forward, and so I would probably give the
- 46:17Speaker 5: Tucci ard to James Tolkien.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Wow, he was not on my red art at all.
- 46:22Speaker 3: That's a sweet You're never gonna believe this. Zoe Dutch
- 46:27Speaker 3: is Leah Thompson's not, no way. Yeah, and it makes
- 46:33Speaker 3: sense now that I'm like looking, and so is Madeline Dutch,
- 46:37Speaker 3: who I think has been in some stuff as well.
- 46:39Speaker 1: You just blew my mind?
- 46:41Speaker 3: Can you believe that I didn't know that she.
- 46:44Speaker 1: Is such a delight that Zoe. Is it Dutch or
- 46:47Speaker 1: is it Deutsch?
- 46:49Speaker 3: Uh cannot confirm.
- 46:51Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 46:52Speaker 3: It might be Deutsch, I don't know.
- 46:53Speaker 1: But man, yeah, that's crazy. Well, it's funny because my
- 46:58Speaker 1: teach is gonna be Leah to Thompson as Lorraine Bains.
- 47:03Speaker 3: You can't believe.
- 47:04Speaker 1: You got to give it up for the Minnesota girl.
- 47:07Speaker 1: She was born in Rochester, grew up in Minnie. I
- 47:12Speaker 1: had a pretty big crush on Marty's mom back in
- 47:15Speaker 1: the day. I always thought, and she was so cute,
- 47:21Speaker 1: But it was really fun to see her as this
- 47:23Speaker 1: like uptight, wholesome mom and then they go back and
- 47:27Speaker 1: she's this rebellious teen, full of life, you know, stealing
- 47:32Speaker 1: liquor and smoking, and I just.
- 47:36Speaker 5: Car with a boy, right, yeah, I have right the
- 47:48Speaker 5: old lady's liquor cabinet.
- 47:50Speaker 1: Yeah, she was a delight though. I was, I was.
- 47:54Speaker 1: I was loving Leah Thompson in this one.
- 47:57Speaker 3: Yeah, she's really really great. I was gonna Christopher Lloyd
- 48:00Speaker 3: for this one just because I think he really really
- 48:04Speaker 3: makes the movie for me. So I think you're right,
- 48:07Speaker 3: But my runner up would be Thomas F. Wilson, the
- 48:10Speaker 3: guy who played He's so good. He is like super
- 48:16Speaker 3: haterble the whole time, which is super important. I read
- 48:21Speaker 3: something that he's kind of mad at this film because
- 48:24Speaker 3: or these, this trilogy, because he has been typecast ever since.
- 48:28Speaker 3: Well yeah, which is kind of a bummer. But it's
- 48:31Speaker 3: also like, well, you're in one of the greatest franchises ever,
- 48:34Speaker 3: so like I'm sorry.
- 48:36Speaker 1: And it's not like you were like a super great
- 48:39Speaker 1: actor in these, like this was perfect for him, Like oh.
- 48:43Speaker 3: Yeah, it was like the perfect like you know, over
- 48:46Speaker 3: the top and not quite over the time.
- 48:48Speaker 1: He was pretty cartoony in these, but for sure it
- 48:52Speaker 1: totally worked for these films, but I would be surprised.
- 48:56Speaker 1: You know, I don't think he was going to be
- 48:58Speaker 1: in you know, Shinley his List or something. Now you should.
- 49:02Speaker 5: Probably actually fun the fact of the day, he was
- 49:07Speaker 5: actually in another movie right after the first Back of
- 49:11Speaker 5: the Future came out with Christopher Lloyd called Camp Nowhere.
- 49:15Speaker 3: Camp Camp Nowhere.
- 49:17Speaker 1: You're right, yeah, yeah, I've seen him. I've seen him
- 49:19Speaker 1: pop up in different things for sure. But yeah, sure,
- 49:22Speaker 1: but i'd imagine, yeah, he'd get typecast as bit for
- 49:25Speaker 1: sure because it's.
- 49:25Speaker 3: So I kind of and and he's great.
- 49:28Speaker 5: And he does like we speaking engagements, and during his
- 49:32Speaker 5: public speaking engagements now he will the first thing he
- 49:36Speaker 5: says like, hey, everybody, uh, I'm just gonna get this
- 49:38Speaker 5: out of the way, and he just calls everybody a
- 49:42Speaker 5: butt head because everybody always asked him to say that line.
- 49:45Speaker 5: And then he goes on with this thing because it's
- 49:47Speaker 5: just he's like, it's like it's just so overdone. So
- 49:53Speaker 5: I do sure, in some sense totally's feel it for him,
- 49:57Speaker 5: because it's like, man, you have like these three lines
- 50:01Speaker 5: that I'm sure for the last thirty five years people
- 50:03Speaker 5: have just been like, I want to hear you say,
- 50:06Speaker 5: butthead butt heead sure? And did you guys know Billy
- 50:09Speaker 5: was in this movie?
- 50:10Speaker 1: I noticed it, like I saw it and I was like,
- 50:13Speaker 1: that looks like Zy. It looks like a Billy Zaye
- 50:16Speaker 1: with hair. Yeah, and uh yeah I did see that.
- 50:20Speaker 1: He was one of the like three other bullies with Biff. Yeah.
- 50:25Speaker 5: Yeah, he doesn't play a big role, but he's in
- 50:26Speaker 5: all three.
- 50:27Speaker 3: Actually, maybe he just really handsome in his fifties garb.
- 50:31Speaker 1: Sure, he's a handsome man, for sure.
- 50:36Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 50:36Speaker 1: Was there anybody else? Even like that's all the Tuccies?
- 50:40Speaker 1: I thought of, where was there anybody?
- 50:42Speaker 2: Oh?
- 50:42Speaker 1: I guess did you guys? Were you guys fans of
- 50:44Speaker 1: Crisp and Glover in this because he just kind of
- 50:46Speaker 1: weirds me out?
- 50:48Speaker 3: Man, I remember being a bigger fan of him, but yeah,
- 50:51Speaker 3: I'm with you on the rewatch. I was just like,
- 50:53Speaker 3: he's just weird and his character is not all that redeeming. Yeah.
- 51:00Speaker 3: I guess ultimately he does the right thing and is
- 51:02Speaker 3: a nice guy, but man, what weirdo? Even I definitely
- 51:06Speaker 3: kept saying that every time I saw it. Every time
- 51:08Speaker 3: I saw him on screen, I was like, he's just weird,
- 51:11Speaker 3: And I guess that's good, he's making a choice. But
- 51:13Speaker 3: what a weirdo.
- 51:15Speaker 5: Well, he threw such a big stink that he got
- 51:18Speaker 5: they fired him after the first one and found somebody
- 51:20Speaker 5: that looked like him to play him for the second
- 51:23Speaker 5: and third because he wasn't a very big role in those,
- 51:26Speaker 5: and he like had a huge flipout and stuff, and
- 51:29Speaker 5: I'm like, dude, you didn't even you weren't even really
- 51:33Speaker 5: that I don't know. And his character in general just like,
- 51:40Speaker 5: oh that biff I always trying to con someone. It's
- 51:43Speaker 5: like just so nonchalant. It's like, why are you still
- 51:45Speaker 5: friends with this guy?
- 51:47Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 51:47Speaker 3: I don't understand. He's bullied you your whole life, Like, yeah,
- 51:52Speaker 3: he tried to rape your wife and you're just pals
- 51:56Speaker 3: with him. Now. I didn't understand.
- 51:59Speaker 1: Well that happened in the new version, right, like because
- 52:02Speaker 1: that was but.
- 52:03Speaker 3: He's still out there washing his car.
- 52:05Speaker 1: Yeah, oh that's true.
- 52:07Speaker 3: Yeah, he's like, what's happened?
- 52:09Speaker 1: Yeah that's very true.
- 52:12Speaker 5: Yeah, it doesn't. That character is a little I mean,
- 52:15Speaker 5: it probably plays an important role to set Marty up
- 52:19Speaker 5: to have his insecurities, for sure, but it's it is
- 52:24Speaker 5: a weird role. Man and Kristin christ Christen Glover did great,
- 52:30Speaker 5: but it just yeah, I didn't think it was as
- 52:32Speaker 5: great of a performance as I think some people made
- 52:35Speaker 5: it out to be.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I get that for sure. The other one that
- 52:39Speaker 3: I had was, I really I'll bring him up during quotes.
- 52:42Speaker 3: He's got one of my favorite quotes. But Donald fully
- 52:45Speaker 3: love Goldie Wilson. I really loved him. Oh cool, may
- 52:52Speaker 3: it's it's maybe my favorite line from the whole movie.
- 52:56Speaker 3: I love it so much. So yeah, he would be
- 52:59Speaker 3: the only other one I think I would bring up.
- 53:01Speaker 3: Otherwise everyone else was good, just not not a huge part. Yeah.
- 53:05Speaker 1: Well, and we already mentioned before, but the Huey Lewis
- 53:08Speaker 1: cameo is just the best thing ever.
- 53:09Speaker 3: Oh yeah, you're right, so clutch, so great? Nice for sure?
- 53:14Speaker 1: Well, sweet, why don't we move on to the dingus
- 53:19Speaker 1: for Danish? So dinas is quite simple, really, ingusus. This
- 53:24Speaker 1: is our favorite scene, Nate, What's what's your favorite scene?
- 53:27Speaker 1: You've seen this movie one billion times? What's your favorite
- 53:31Speaker 1: scene from it? Oh?
- 53:33Speaker 5: It is so tough. If I had to choose one scene,
- 53:37Speaker 5: I probably would go with the guitar solo where he
- 53:43Speaker 5: gets to the end of it and everyone's just staring
- 53:46Speaker 5: at him, and he just says, yeah, I guess you
- 53:49Speaker 5: guys aren't ready for that, but your kids are gonna
- 53:51Speaker 5: love it, right.
- 53:53Speaker 3: Kids are gonna love it.
- 53:55Speaker 1: Just know that that whole sequence is so great.
- 53:58Speaker 5: It's so fantastic. And another fun fact about that whole
- 54:02Speaker 5: sequence is Marvin Berry and the Twilighters, so they re
- 54:07Speaker 5: recorded Earth Angel and it actually charted again in eighty
- 54:11Speaker 5: five in the top forty after the movie came out.
- 54:14Speaker 3: Oh wow, that's cool.
- 54:16Speaker 5: Yeah and cool, and Marvin Berry and the Twilighters from
- 54:20Speaker 5: the guy who plays Marvin Berry went on tour and
- 54:23Speaker 5: sang that song like that's amazing.
- 54:27Speaker 3: That's incredible, what a gig. That's great.
- 54:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I love that scene too, And yeah, just seeing
- 54:34Speaker 1: him just go nuts during that and like copying all
- 54:37Speaker 1: like the guitarists that we know but they've never seen.
- 54:44Speaker 3: And he's got like a guitar that's about seven times
- 54:47Speaker 3: bigger than the guitar he plays in the first scene, right, yes, scene.
- 54:53Speaker 5: Yeah, Actually, my friend Pat had a really close version
- 54:58Speaker 5: of that guitar. It's a Gibsen. I forget the exact model,
- 55:03Speaker 5: but the only he had he didn't have the whammy bar.
- 55:08Speaker 5: In his It was his dad's and it had only
- 55:10Speaker 5: been played like ten games, and his dad like just
- 55:13Speaker 5: put it under the bed and then he put it
- 55:14Speaker 5: under his bed and I found it.
- 55:17Speaker 3: It was like, you were like what this is amazing?
- 55:19Speaker 5: Why you have this guitar. It's like it's like a
- 55:22Speaker 5: ten thousand dollars guitar?
- 55:23Speaker 1: Now, why were you under your buddy's bed?
- 55:29Speaker 5: Well, because he was like we were probably fourteen, and
- 55:32Speaker 5: he was like, hey, I have a guitar because he
- 55:33Speaker 5: knew I played guitar, and you like pull it up
- 55:35Speaker 5: from the bed and I'm like, what what.
- 55:41Speaker 3: Is the Back to the Future guitar?
- 55:42Speaker 1: That's awesome. I do love that. Then he called Chuck
- 55:46Speaker 1: Berry up too. That's that's my favorite. That's the best
- 55:49Speaker 1: button to that whole thing. Yeah, I love that's.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Your cousin, Marvin.
- 55:55Speaker 1: I love that.
- 55:56Speaker 3: Uh what do you have? Rob for your scene?
- 55:58Speaker 1: For sure with doubt and I like, you know, I
- 56:02Speaker 1: know how this movie ends, but like this suspense during
- 56:06Speaker 1: that the lightning hitting the clock tower, that whole sequence,
- 56:10Speaker 1: that sequence is incredible. Like it starts off with Marty
- 56:15Speaker 1: taking a while to get back to the clock tower
- 56:17Speaker 1: because he had to make sure that his dad kissed
- 56:20Speaker 1: his mom, so he's already cutting it close, so you
- 56:22Speaker 1: have that tension, and then the branch falls down on
- 56:27Speaker 1: the cord and it like unplugs it, so then Doc
- 56:29Speaker 1: has to go up to the tower and like try
- 56:32Speaker 1: and plug it in. Almost falls off the tower and
- 56:37Speaker 1: he's able to get himself back on. Then when he
- 56:38Speaker 1: tries to plug it in, the branch makes it so
- 56:41Speaker 1: he can't reach it. So then he's got a zip
- 56:44Speaker 1: line down and plug it in as the car is
- 56:48Speaker 1: going where it needs to go. I couldn't believe it.
- 56:51Speaker 1: I was so so into it and just like my
- 56:54Speaker 1: heart was just like he's going to do it, and
- 56:56Speaker 1: I knew he was gonna do it. I just I
- 57:00Speaker 1: was so impressed with that filmmaking. It was really really intense.
- 57:04Speaker 3: Oh yeah, they do love that one.
- 57:07Speaker 5: Such a good job of building it too. Like it
- 57:09Speaker 5: starts off kind of small where you're like, Okay, this
- 57:12Speaker 5: is gonna happen. Well, I don't know if it's going
- 57:14Speaker 5: to happen, and then like just progressively you're just like
- 57:19Speaker 5: I've seen it so many times and that scene every time,
- 57:23Speaker 5: I just like have to stop and pay attention.
- 57:26Speaker 3: Because yeah, totally and I like his little.
- 57:30Speaker 5: Quips in there, just you know, Doc being Doc.
- 57:35Speaker 3: Right, you know, and then when he like almost falls down,
- 57:39Speaker 3: he's like, he's so great, Marty. I love that. That's nice.
- 57:46Speaker 3: I think both of those, between The Enchantment of the
- 57:48Speaker 3: Sea and that one, would probably be my top two picks.
- 57:52Speaker 3: But I want to give a shout out to the
- 57:54Speaker 3: first scene we see when they go back into the fifties. Yes,
- 58:01Speaker 3: just seeing like the town square and like how vibrant
- 58:04Speaker 3: that community is back then, you know, compared to what
- 58:07Speaker 3: it was. I thought that was really fun. Obviously the
- 58:11Speaker 3: song was super fun. I have like a you know,
- 58:13Speaker 3: I love that fifties music. A ton so special plays
- 58:17Speaker 3: in my heart for that. Yeah, I just I really
- 58:21Speaker 3: liked that scene. It was really like I just found
- 58:23Speaker 3: myself grinning that whole scene just because it's like, oh,
- 58:26Speaker 3: yeah we're here, we did it, you know, like really cool.
- 58:29Speaker 3: But yeah, the for the dingis I would choose the
- 58:32Speaker 3: clock tower scene for sure. So good. Yeah, nice, cool. Yeah,
- 58:38Speaker 3: we have other ones we want to mention.
- 58:39Speaker 1: I mean I thought that I think just like the
- 58:41Speaker 1: very end where we get to see like the better
- 58:45Speaker 1: alternate reality when when what happens to his family when
- 58:49Speaker 1: Georgia actually like sticks up for himself and how it
- 58:52Speaker 1: affects the entire family. I thought that was really fun.
- 58:56Speaker 1: And then that amazing setup for the sequel, Oh no,
- 59:02Speaker 1: probably one of the best setups for a sequel of
- 59:05Speaker 1: all time.
- 59:06Speaker 3: Which apparently was not set up as a sequel, which
- 59:08Speaker 3: is crazy.
- 59:09Speaker 1: Yes, I did read that.
- 59:11Speaker 3: So Nate, did you read this? Because they were like
- 59:13Speaker 3: they had no imminent plans to make more movies after it,
- 59:17Speaker 3: and Zamechis was like, if I would have known that
- 59:21Speaker 3: it was a sequel, I would have never had their
- 59:22Speaker 3: girlfriend in the car because that cramed a whole other
- 59:26Speaker 3: batch of issues and that's why she's like knocked out
- 59:29Speaker 3: for most of the second movie.
- 59:34Speaker 5: Thought that was inducing algorithm?
- 59:37Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I really didn't.
- 59:39Speaker 5: Why don't we have that yet? It's twenty twenty.
- 59:42Speaker 3: For me, it's just a big meal and a cold room.
- 59:47Speaker 3: But yeah, well it sounds like we're all okay with
- 59:50Speaker 3: the clock Tower.
- 59:51Speaker 1: Then eh, yeah, I'm donee And I mean I loved
- 59:54Speaker 1: the the guitar scene as well. But oh it's sad
- 59:58Speaker 1: to pick number one. Yeah, go clock.
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: Tower all the way, love it, love it? Well, should
- 1:00:04Speaker 3: we get to some quotes here, let's.
- 1:00:05Speaker 1: Do it, show me the money, show me so you know,
- 1:00:15Speaker 1: great Scott like number one is crazy so great. The hey, doc,
- 1:00:21Speaker 1: we better back up. We don't have enough road to
- 1:00:23Speaker 1: get up to eighty eight roads where we're going. We
- 1:00:26Speaker 1: don't need roads. So that's probably the line of the movie.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: I also loved him just saying, if my calculations are correct,
- 1:00:36Speaker 1: when this baby hits eighty eight miles per hour, you're
- 1:00:39Speaker 1: gonna see some serious Yeah. I love I enjoyed that
- 1:00:44Speaker 1: very much.
- 1:00:44Speaker 3: What's the no roads one in this movie? Or was
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: that in two?
- 1:00:47Speaker 1: No, it's the last lines of the movie.
- 1:00:49Speaker 3: Yeah, oh that's right, Yeah, yeah, okay, Sorry, It is
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: really hard to like dissect these out. Yeah, since they
- 1:00:57Speaker 3: redoce so much stuff and whatever.
- 1:01:00Speaker 5: It's incredibly tough because they do such a good job
- 1:01:03Speaker 5: at like taking those parts and moving them through the
- 1:01:05Speaker 5: three movies. But then they they end in different like ways.
- 1:01:11Speaker 5: So there are so many other lines around you. I
- 1:01:17Speaker 5: do think when Chuck Berry Marvin Berry calls Chuck Berry
- 1:01:21Speaker 5: might be one of my favorite interactions.
- 1:01:24Speaker 3: Yeah, that's so good for sure.
- 1:01:26Speaker 1: Well, I mean you already said the line that I
- 1:01:29Speaker 1: guess you guys aren't ready for that yet, but your
- 1:01:32Speaker 1: kids are gonna love it. Oh yeah, such, you already
- 1:01:35Speaker 1: said that one. And that's that's way up there, I
- 1:01:38Speaker 1: do sure.
- 1:01:39Speaker 5: An underrated scene is when Biff and his goons put
- 1:01:44Speaker 5: Marty in the trunk and the band gets out of
- 1:01:49Speaker 5: the car and they go to back to the trunk
- 1:01:52Speaker 5: and he's like, hey, let me out, and he's like,
- 1:01:56Speaker 5: where are my keys? He goes, the keys are in
- 1:01:58Speaker 5: the trunk, goes, what'd you say? The keys are in
- 1:02:00Speaker 5: the trunk? And I don't know why, but I always like,
- 1:02:04Speaker 5: I always like that like such a random It's just
- 1:02:07Speaker 5: such a random, like little little tiny thing that doesn't
- 1:02:12Speaker 5: really impact the movie in that much of a way.
- 1:02:16Speaker 5: But when he slices his hand, now Marty's in the
- 1:02:20Speaker 5: band right, And I always liked that little pivotal scene
- 1:02:25Speaker 5: because I thought it was kind of, you know, ingenious
- 1:02:29Speaker 5: to put the keys in the trunk.
- 1:02:32Speaker 3: Totally nice.
- 1:02:34Speaker 1: Yeah, bugs, you have some some quotes.
- 1:02:36Speaker 3: You want to say about Yeah, some, I mean, so
- 1:02:39Speaker 3: maybe my favorite one up the whole thing is the
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: when he's just like, yeah, I like the sound of that.
- 1:02:47Speaker 3: He gets so high and I love every second of it.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: Maya gold Wilson. I love that so much. I also
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: love one point. That's the one. I love it so much.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: I think I really like, why don't you make like
- 1:03:10Speaker 3: a tree and get out of here?
- 1:03:12Speaker 4: Right?
- 1:03:13Speaker 3: Yeah, it's I always loved that.
- 1:03:16Speaker 5: It sounds like a damn fool when you say it wrong.
- 1:03:19Speaker 3: Yes, yeah, I read that.
- 1:03:21Speaker 1: Improvise that.
- 1:03:24Speaker 5: Yeah right, it's about as funny as a screen love.
- 1:03:29Speaker 3: Oh yeah, and I love the I'm George McFly, I'm
- 1:03:35Speaker 3: your density. I mean, I mean your destiny.
- 1:03:39Speaker 1: See like he was Chrispin Glover was doing nothing for me,
- 1:03:43Speaker 1: So I just found that all annoying.
- 1:03:46Speaker 3: It's super annoying, but it's still funny.
- 1:03:49Speaker 1: His best line, I thought was the and I didn't
- 1:03:52Speaker 1: write it down, but it was just like, hey, whatever
- 1:03:54Speaker 1: your name is behind the bar, give me a milk
- 1:03:58Speaker 1: chocolate And then yeah, that's the best George part.
- 1:04:03Speaker 3: For sure, And it's pretty great. Yeah he's a peeping tom.
- 1:04:08Speaker 5: Yeah yeah, that is ah again, such a weird character.
- 1:04:16Speaker 5: Went like yeah, at the very end of the movie
- 1:04:20Speaker 5: when Marty like wakes up and he's still in his
- 1:04:22Speaker 5: clothes and uh, he like falls off the counter and
- 1:04:27Speaker 5: he's like Marty did you hit your head and he
- 1:04:31Speaker 5: stands back up and he's like, you guys.
- 1:04:34Speaker 3: Are so thin. Oh thanks, oh thank you, Marty. That's us.
- 1:04:42Speaker 3: I also really love one that I say all the
- 1:04:44Speaker 3: time is all right guys blues, sriff and b watch
- 1:04:47Speaker 3: me for the changes and try to keep up. Like
- 1:04:49Speaker 3: I love that so much. That is pretty great. I
- 1:04:52Speaker 3: think I said that in every gig I've ever ot.
- 1:04:54Speaker 5: Oh my god, me too. It's probably it's so funny
- 1:04:57Speaker 5: because that song's not in the KYB.
- 1:05:01Speaker 3: That's great, it's in the key that's amazing.
- 1:05:03Speaker 5: Well, it depends what version you listen to, but it's
- 1:05:05Speaker 5: normally in B flat or A.
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: That's funny, so sounds about right.
- 1:05:11Speaker 5: A little fact.
- 1:05:14Speaker 3: I also loved when he was like, what happens to
- 1:05:16Speaker 3: us in the future? What do we do? We turn
- 1:05:18Speaker 3: it down or something?
- 1:05:20Speaker 1: Oh that's at the very end, right yeah. Yeah, he
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: was like, no, it's about your kids.
- 1:05:24Speaker 3: Many.
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: I love when he's like, then tell me future boy.
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Who's President of the United States in nineteen eighty five?
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: Ronald Reagan Ronald Reagan, the actor. Then who's Vice President?
- 1:05:37Speaker 1: Jerry Lewis? I suppose Jane Wyman is the first Lady
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: whoa wait, tuc and Jack Benny is Secretary of the Treasury. Doc,
- 1:05:45Speaker 1: you gotta listen to me. I've had enough practical jokes
- 1:05:48Speaker 1: for one evening. Good Night, Future boy.
- 1:05:50Speaker 3: I liked all that's fantastic.
- 1:05:55Speaker 5: Uh, Doc has so many good lines. Heavy there's that
- 1:05:58Speaker 5: ward again. Is there something wrong with the Earth's gravitational
- 1:06:01Speaker 5: pull in the future?
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Yeah, yes, love that so much.
- 1:06:04Speaker 1: I love when he sees the thing, the advertisement for
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: the the dance, He's like, look, there's a rhythmic ceremonial
- 1:06:13Speaker 1: ritual coming up, just like Doc, so funny.
- 1:06:18Speaker 5: They really can this movie phenomenally.
- 1:06:21Speaker 3: Yeah, Yeah, for sure. I also just love the way
- 1:06:25Speaker 3: Christopher Lloyd just can make everything so over the top.
- 1:06:29Speaker 3: Because when they were talking about the picture and they were,
- 1:06:32Speaker 3: you know, being erased, he was like he was just
- 1:06:34Speaker 3: like erased, and then he like looks off to the
- 1:06:36Speaker 3: side with his mouth agape, and he's like from existence. Yeah,
- 1:06:42Speaker 3: He's just love it so much.
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: His facial expressions killed me the entire time. Perfect guys,
- 1:06:49Speaker 1: and just yeah, like you said, mouth just wide open.
- 1:06:52Speaker 5: Great Scott, He's such he almost in some way reminds
- 1:06:57Speaker 5: me of like a Chevy chair, so physical, not as
- 1:07:02Speaker 5: physical as Chevy Chase, but like, sure, the way he
- 1:07:05Speaker 5: uses his body in comedy is so phenomenal because he's
- 1:07:09Speaker 5: just so animated and just fun to watch.
- 1:07:13Speaker 1: So much fun.
- 1:07:14Speaker 3: Well, and I read that like so one of his
- 1:07:16Speaker 3: things and this is he's kind of always like hunched
- 1:07:18Speaker 3: over and working on something. And I guess that was
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: a direct response to him because he's like six' to
- 1:07:24Speaker 3: one and Then MICHAEL. J fox is like five four
- 1:07:28Speaker 3: or something like. That. Yeah, yeah so like to keep
- 1:07:31Speaker 3: them in the scene and not make it look, weird
- 1:07:33Speaker 3: they've like tried to play some far apart and then
- 1:07:35Speaker 3: he would bend down like that and. Stuff but it.
- 1:07:37Speaker 1: Worked so well for his character that it was.
- 1:07:40Speaker 3: Like what a happy little you, know? Exodent, sure, yeah,
- 1:07:44Speaker 3: oh WHAT'S i think that was most all the QUOTES i.
- 1:07:46Speaker 3: Had there's a.
- 1:07:48Speaker 5: Really good one at the very end When marty trips
- 1:07:52Speaker 5: down the hill to like run To doc because he
- 1:07:54Speaker 5: thinks he's been shot and. Killed and he gets there
- 1:07:57Speaker 5: and he's like crying On, doc And doc like opens
- 1:08:00Speaker 5: his eyes and he pulls open his vest and he
- 1:08:05Speaker 5: goes he's like what about the letter? Vest? Yeah And marty's,
- 1:08:12Speaker 5: like what about the letter And, doc what's the. Line
- 1:08:15Speaker 5: i'm totally.
- 1:08:16Speaker 1: Blanking, YEAH i don't remember what he said.
- 1:08:18Speaker 5: Either, yeah it's a it's a good, moment like it's
- 1:08:22Speaker 5: a good funny but also serious, moment and it's it's
- 1:08:25Speaker 5: a good. LINE i forget the exact, quote but.
- 1:08:27Speaker 1: Nice yeah that Was. OH i did like when just
- 1:08:30Speaker 1: when he was the alien and and then the next
- 1:08:34Speaker 1: Day george is, like last Night Darth vader came down
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: From Planet dulcan and told me that IF i didn't
- 1:08:39Speaker 1: Take lorrain out that he'd melt my. BRAIN i just
- 1:08:42Speaker 1: love that he he mixed, up you, Know Darth vader
- 1:08:45Speaker 1: And Planet vulcan just making.
- 1:08:48Speaker 3: Nerds so, manah everyone's, like, no, no do.
- 1:08:52Speaker 5: That, actually one little tiny thing in the movie THAT
- 1:08:57Speaker 5: i just love, is, uh in the very beginning of the,
- 1:09:01Speaker 5: movie he's like maybe At Twin Pines, mall and then
- 1:09:05Speaker 5: at the very end of the movie when he gets,
- 1:09:07Speaker 5: back It's Lone Pines mall Because marty ran over the
- 1:09:11Speaker 5: male or the one of the twin pines next to his.
- 1:09:13Speaker 3: Mailbox yeah that's the old in the farmhouse or.
- 1:09:18Speaker 1: Whatever, Right, yeah, yeah that's attention to. DETAIL i liked
- 1:09:21Speaker 1: that at so MUCH i liked the Whole calvin climbit.
- 1:09:26Speaker 1: Too it's not really a, quote BUT i liked. ALL
- 1:09:28Speaker 1: i like that bit a.
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: Lot i've never seen purple underwear, Before. Marty, yeah why.
- 1:09:34Speaker 1: Do you keep Calling Calvin?
- 1:09:36Speaker 3: Calvin oh, yeah that's my, name but people call Me. Marty, okay, okay.
- 1:09:44Speaker 1: Right, sweet all, Right, well if there are, anymore let's,
- 1:09:49Speaker 1: uh let's go to bugs boohoo. Moments so, YEAH i
- 1:09:56Speaker 1: didn't think there were many. BOOHOOS i had a hard
- 1:09:58Speaker 1: time coming up with Any, OKAY i picked. One, uh
- 1:10:02Speaker 1: and it's just When george stands up for himself and
- 1:10:06Speaker 1: then comes back to kiss her at the. Dance it's,
- 1:10:10Speaker 1: like that's kind of the only TIME i could see like.
- 1:10:12Speaker 3: Real team one didn't get me, Though what do you?
- 1:10:16Speaker 3: Think what do you, Got?
- 1:10:17Speaker 5: NATE i, mean IF i was gonna go with adigs
- 1:10:20Speaker 5: boo who, moments it would be When marty Thinks doc is,
- 1:10:23Speaker 5: dead like before he opens up his vest to show
- 1:10:28Speaker 5: that he has a bulletproof fest on nailed.
- 1:10:31Speaker 1: It oh, there he.
- 1:10:32Speaker 3: Goes, cool that's a good.
- 1:10:33Speaker 5: One it's, uh it'll get, you.
- 1:10:36Speaker 3: That'll get. You. Yeah so it was that, one and
- 1:10:40Speaker 3: there's only two for this, one the short. One, yeah, infrequent,
- 1:10:44Speaker 3: smallest it is. Smallest there we. Go, uh it was
- 1:10:49Speaker 3: just that. One and THEN i thought it was very
- 1:10:51Speaker 3: sweet When marty And doc were saying goodbye to each
- 1:10:53Speaker 3: other like in the, past.
- 1:10:57Speaker 1: Right so like when like when everything's all intense at
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: the clock tower or like.
- 1:11:02Speaker 3: Earlier, okay, no that one at the clock. Tower he knows,
- 1:11:06Speaker 3: that like the notes been tore up and all that. Stuff, yeah,
- 1:11:11Speaker 3: YEAH i JUST i really liked that.
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: Part, okay two, boooz.
- 1:11:16Speaker 3: But, yeah only.
- 1:11:16Speaker 1: Two, yeah that's not not. Bad it's not, Bad, no
- 1:11:19Speaker 1: not at.
- 1:11:19Speaker 3: All, yeah, yeah pretty.
- 1:11:21Speaker 5: Good.
- 1:11:21Speaker 1: Sweet all, Right, well let's move on to some movie, trivia.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: Bud, yeah we've said a couple of them, already but
- 1:11:28Speaker 3: let's do a. Couple there was a lot of trivia
- 1:11:31Speaker 3: for this. One that's what happens when you pick a
- 1:11:33Speaker 3: thirty five year old, MOVIE i. Guess, well and it's
- 1:11:35Speaker 3: classic too at this, POINT i, mean arguably, absolutely.
- 1:11:38Speaker 5: This might be one of the most well received movies in.
- 1:11:41Speaker 3: History, yeah LIKE i THINK i think it's absolutely like
- 1:11:46Speaker 3: a classic of our lifetimes for.
- 1:11:48Speaker 5: Sure, Sure, yeah IT'S i, mean there are plenty of
- 1:11:51Speaker 5: other movies that compete with, it but it is in
- 1:11:54Speaker 5: the top tier of movies, like.
- 1:11:56Speaker 3: Yeah for. Sure so in twenty, ten during a, Reunion MICHAEL.
- 1:12:00Speaker 3: J fox said that the strangers or that strangers still
- 1:12:03Speaker 3: call him McFly. Constantly he said the most remarkable instance of, this,
- 1:12:09Speaker 3: though was one he who was in a remote jungle
- 1:12:11Speaker 3: jungle in The South asian country Of, bhutan located Between
- 1:12:16Speaker 3: china And india in The, himalayas and a group Of
- 1:12:19Speaker 3: buddhist monks passed him and one of them looked at
- 1:12:21Speaker 3: him and, Said marty, McFly that which that must have been.
- 1:12:27Speaker 3: Surreal he's, Like i'm finally away from all these. Idiots uh,
- 1:12:34Speaker 3: SO i think you guys already said, it but the
- 1:12:36Speaker 3: make like a tree and get out of here and
- 1:12:38Speaker 3: butt head were both. Improvised that was pretty cool By Thomas.
- 1:12:41Speaker 3: Wilson When lorraine Follows marty back To doc's, house she
- 1:12:46Speaker 3: And doc exchange in awkward. Greeting and this is the
- 1:12:49Speaker 3: only time That Christopher lloyd And Leah thompson ever have
- 1:12:53Speaker 3: dialogue throughout all the. Movies isn't that? Crazy?
- 1:12:58Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah thought.
- 1:13:01Speaker 3: Of, That and actually this says it's the only on
- 1:13:04Speaker 3: screen dialogue they ever have and they've been in six
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: movies total together and that's the only time they ever
- 1:13:10Speaker 3: speak to each.
- 1:13:10Speaker 1: Other that's, interesting super.
- 1:13:12Speaker 3: Weird just like a weird. Happenstance we said the thing
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: About elizabeth hu taking over For Jennifer, Parker, Well Claudia,
- 1:13:21Speaker 3: well's the original, actor gave up her part In back
- 1:13:25Speaker 3: to The future two and three because her mom was
- 1:13:29Speaker 3: diagnosed with. Cancer so that's.
- 1:13:30Speaker 1: Sad that is.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: SAID i thought it was interesting to know why it
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: happened BECAUSE i didn't.
- 1:13:34Speaker 1: Know, YEAH i certainly didn't, either BUT i also saw
- 1:13:38Speaker 1: that and maybe you were going to mention. This But Melaura,
- 1:13:42Speaker 1: harden who we know from the, office who plays what
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: was her, name Jan he Was Steve Carell's.
- 1:13:50Speaker 3: Oh, yeah, okay so she.
- 1:13:51Speaker 1: Was originally cast As jennifer when it was it Was Eric,
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: stoltz but then she was too all When MICHAEL. J.
- 1:14:01Speaker 3: Fox so that makes sense because she is pretty, tall
- 1:14:04Speaker 3: and so it's like she got dismissed before she got
- 1:14:07Speaker 3: a chance to shoot a single scene And Claudie wells came.
- 1:14:10Speaker 3: In how do you not just be bitter the rest
- 1:14:13Speaker 3: of your?
- 1:14:13Speaker 1: Life, well, dude AND i you, KNOW i didn't see
- 1:14:16Speaker 1: her LIKE i can't even really think of anything but
- 1:14:19Speaker 1: like until the, Office so it took a while for
- 1:14:22Speaker 1: her to blow.
- 1:14:23Speaker 3: Up you know that's, crazy.
- 1:14:25Speaker 1: Dude, yeah, Anyway, wow that's a great.
- 1:14:28Speaker 3: One. UH i didn't have, that So i'm glad you shared.
- 1:14:30Speaker 5: That i'll be, HONEST i did not realize That jennifer
- 1:14:35Speaker 5: was two different people UNTIL i bought THE dvd trilogy in. College,
- 1:14:40Speaker 5: sure BECAUSE i had only ever seen it on LIKE
- 1:14:42Speaker 5: tv OR tbs or, whatever and you JUST i ha'd
- 1:14:46Speaker 5: something THAT i didn't pick up. On and then WHEN
- 1:14:49Speaker 5: i got the trilogy and could watch them like back
- 1:14:51Speaker 5: to back to, BACK i was, like wait a, second that's.
- 1:14:55Speaker 3: That well, Right and, also to be, fair like she's
- 1:14:57Speaker 3: not in it a, time, no, no so you know
- 1:15:01Speaker 3: it's not like a crazy. Amount. Anyway, oh it Wasn't MICHAEL.
- 1:15:07Speaker 3: J fox that was singing during the enchantment under The Sea.
- 1:15:11Speaker 3: Dance it was a man Named Mark campbell who was
- 1:15:15Speaker 3: a popular or was the lead singer of a popular
- 1:15:18Speaker 3: eighties band Called Jack mack and the Heart.
- 1:15:20Speaker 1: Attack that's a great.
- 1:15:22Speaker 3: Name i've never heard of. Him that's a, great fantastic.
- 1:15:24Speaker 3: NAME i, MEAN i feel like they had the name
- 1:15:27Speaker 3: first and then they were, like, well now we have
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: to be a, Band like what what are we going to?
- 1:15:31Speaker 3: Do you? KNOW i thought it was interesting That Huey
- 1:15:35Speaker 3: lewis was asked By zamechis And Bob gail to write
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: a song for the. Film, however the they weren't thrilled
- 1:15:42Speaker 3: with the first song he brought to, them and after
- 1:15:44Speaker 3: explaining what they hoped, for he came back with The
- 1:15:48Speaker 3: power Of, love and then they loved that so much
- 1:15:50Speaker 3: that they wanted one more. Song so then he got
- 1:15:54Speaker 3: inspiration For back In, time WHICH i think is. Crazy,
- 1:15:56Speaker 3: yeah both of those films he came up or both those,
- 1:15:59Speaker 3: songs he came up with this for this, film and
- 1:16:01Speaker 3: they're both.
- 1:16:02Speaker 1: Amazing oh totally.
- 1:16:04Speaker 5: Dude the horn section in Especially back In, Time oh my,
- 1:16:09Speaker 5: gosh like so h so so. Good johnny f actually
- 1:16:14Speaker 5: is a Big back to The future fan as. Well
- 1:16:16Speaker 5: and when we on the very First christmas TOUR i
- 1:16:20Speaker 5: did With Home, free like a billion years, ago we
- 1:16:23Speaker 5: watched the trilogy on his Little he had installed A
- 1:16:27Speaker 5: dvd player like in the dash of his car because
- 1:16:29Speaker 5: we drive like nine hours every, night AND i remember
- 1:16:33Speaker 5: him just that was one of his favorite things because
- 1:16:36Speaker 5: he Loves, Horns AND i really started to pay attention
- 1:16:40Speaker 5: To Huey lewis after he started talking about that stuff
- 1:16:43Speaker 5: because it was so, Good, like, just, man, Hey lewis is. Phenomenal, yeah.
- 1:16:49Speaker 3: Agreed SO i can't Believe i've never sang either of
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: those songs in any of the a cappella Groups i've
- 1:16:54Speaker 3: ever been.
- 1:16:54Speaker 1: In, yeah they seems so. Perfect we we would only
- 1:16:58Speaker 1: do his version Of it's all, right you, know The
- 1:17:02Speaker 1: Huey leaks.
- 1:17:02Speaker 3: Version we did that.
- 1:17:03Speaker 1: Too, yeah that's the only he's.
- 1:17:04Speaker 3: Got that other one that's all acapella the birds in
- 1:17:07Speaker 3: The trees or, something and it's really cool or. Everything
- 1:17:10Speaker 3: well it must be called naturally. Anyway, yeah it's like
- 1:17:14Speaker 3: A b side, one but it's really. Cool, sure but,
- 1:17:17Speaker 3: yeah SO i missed the boat on. That we better
- 1:17:19Speaker 3: get on Some hueye acapella stuff for. Sure and THEN
- 1:17:22Speaker 3: i said the other two THAT i, Had so that's
- 1:17:24Speaker 3: ALL i.
- 1:17:25Speaker 1: Have. Cool you're probably gonna say this For Judgment, day
- 1:17:29Speaker 1: but the rights to the film and its sequels are
- 1:17:32Speaker 1: owned By Robert zamechas And Bob gail And Za mecca's
- 1:17:37Speaker 1: maintained that no reboot or remake of the franchise would
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: be authorized during his Or gayle's, Lifetime so not going
- 1:17:44Speaker 1: to see that reboot at anytime, soon which which is.
- 1:17:48Speaker 3: Good this still holds up so, Well why we don't need.
- 1:17:50Speaker 5: To, yeah don't LIKE I i can appreciate when people,
- 1:17:55Speaker 5: try but so rarely do they get it. Right AND
- 1:18:00Speaker 5: i just feel like you've already created a masterpiece in
- 1:18:04Speaker 5: the three, films like don't don't touch it?
- 1:18:09Speaker 3: Alone yeah, Right.
- 1:18:11Speaker 1: YEAH i saw that Writers Bob gale And Robert zemeckis
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: actually received a fan letter From John DeLorean after the film's,
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: release thanking them for immortalizing his, car which they for sure.
- 1:18:27Speaker 1: Did it's like the only REASON i know what A DeLorean.
- 1:18:31Speaker 3: Is same.
- 1:18:34Speaker 5: That car was actually they had to put A porsche
- 1:18:36Speaker 5: engine in it for the film because the ORIGINAL i,
- 1:18:40Speaker 5: FORGET i think it was just a little forebanger and
- 1:18:43Speaker 5: the Actual DeLorean was really underpowered and not it just
- 1:18:50Speaker 5: was kind of a crappy, car like, yeah, Right and
- 1:18:54Speaker 5: they had production issues of the whole. Thing they'd set
- 1:18:57Speaker 5: up a plant In ireland and it was A if
- 1:19:00Speaker 5: you ever watched The DeLorean, documentary it's fascinating because, yeah
- 1:19:04Speaker 5: this movie put that car in the, map but that
- 1:19:06Speaker 5: was a disaster of a time For John, Dolorian.
- 1:19:11Speaker 1: Like, right, well AND i saw one of the only
- 1:19:15Speaker 1: reasons they used that car was because they want they
- 1:19:18Speaker 1: needed it to make it seem like it would be
- 1:19:21Speaker 1: an alien spacecraft with the doors.
- 1:19:23Speaker 5: Coming up like, That, yeah the calling doors on the.
- 1:19:25Speaker 3: Sides. Yeah so which those are sweet since for SURELY.
- 1:19:32Speaker 1: I saw one kind of funny thing just. That The
- 1:19:35Speaker 1: Universal pictures head his name Is Sid. Sheinberg he didn't
- 1:19:39Speaker 1: like the title back to The future and insisted that
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: nobody would see a movie With future in the, title
- 1:19:46Speaker 1: so he suggested changing it To spaceman From, pluto tying
- 1:19:52Speaker 1: in with The martia's alien jokes in the, film and
- 1:19:56Speaker 1: also suggested further changes like replacing The I'm Darth vader
- 1:20:00Speaker 1: From Planet vulcan line WITH I am A spaceman From,
- 1:20:04Speaker 1: pluto And spielberg then thanked him sent him a memo
- 1:20:09Speaker 1: saying thank you so much for the wonderful. Joke everyone
- 1:20:13Speaker 1: got a kick out of, it And sheinberg was then
- 1:20:16Speaker 1: too proud to admit he was, serious gave in to
- 1:20:19Speaker 1: letting the film retain its. Title isn't that? Incredible that's
- 1:20:23Speaker 1: like the perfect example of a producer not really understanding
- 1:20:28Speaker 1: what's going on and but just just, talking just making
- 1:20:33Speaker 1: their statement like they need to. Make it can get frustrating.
- 1:20:38Speaker 3: With that kind of. Stuff SO i thought, that do
- 1:20:40Speaker 3: you think do you Think spielberg thought it was a
- 1:20:42Speaker 3: joke or was just, Like i'll tell him it's.
- 1:20:44Speaker 1: A, joke that's exactly.
- 1:20:45Speaker 3: What, yeah he for, sure what a power move to be,
- 1:20:48Speaker 3: like oh my, god this is such like an obviously stupid.
- 1:20:51Speaker 3: Idea you're.
- 1:20:52Speaker 1: GREAT i love it so, much it's so.
- 1:20:56Speaker 5: Great, well this is a. Thought When spielberg started to
- 1:20:58Speaker 5: become he just finished the Third Indiana, jones and he
- 1:21:04Speaker 5: was becoming like way more prominent right around the mid. Eighties,
- 1:21:07Speaker 5: yeah so he probably had a little gusto behind him
- 1:21:10Speaker 5: there to be, like you're an.
- 1:21:11Speaker 3: Idiot you can throw his weight around a little, bit for. Sure.
- 1:21:15Speaker 1: Yeah, YEAH i mean he was a huge.
- 1:21:16Speaker 3: Name by that.
- 1:21:17Speaker 1: POINT i saw That Christopher lloyd wanted to do another
- 1:21:22Speaker 1: one of these movies where they would go and travel
- 1:21:25Speaker 1: back to Ancient, rome AND i thought that would have
- 1:21:28Speaker 1: been kind of. Cool but, sure, yeah there's, uh there's
- 1:21:33Speaker 1: a lot of little, things But i'll just go to
- 1:21:35Speaker 1: where other actors were considered for other. ROLES i saw
- 1:21:40Speaker 1: That John lithgow Did Dudley, moore And Jeff goldbloom were
- 1:21:46Speaker 1: all considered For, doc WHICH i could maybe see A
- 1:21:51Speaker 1: Jeff Goldbloom yeah in. THERE i could really see all
- 1:21:54Speaker 1: three of them, really but, yeah it would.
- 1:21:56Speaker 3: Be different, Though Like lithgow would be different for, sure but.
- 1:21:59Speaker 1: Could be, fun like kind of his character On Third
- 1:22:02Speaker 1: rock from The. Sun, yeah you, know like that could
- 1:22:04Speaker 1: have been fun. Too but it's so hard to not
- 1:22:08Speaker 1: Picture Christopher. Lloyd he was so. GOOD i saw that
- 1:22:13Speaker 1: Apparently Johnny depp auditioned For marty McFly and like Even
- 1:22:19Speaker 1: Bob gail had no. Idea he had to look back
- 1:22:22Speaker 1: at his. Notes he's, like, OH i guess he did.
- 1:22:24Speaker 1: Well he wasn't very memorable if he did. So, initially
- 1:22:30Speaker 1: C Thomas howell was cast for two weeks As martin
- 1:22:35Speaker 1: McFly oh, wow and then even rehearsing With Chrispin glover
- 1:22:40Speaker 1: And Leah. Thompson and then After mask became a surprise,
- 1:22:44Speaker 1: hit the filmmakers Put Eric stoltz in. There but the whole,
- 1:22:48Speaker 1: time like initially they Wanted MICHAEL. J fox and the
- 1:22:52Speaker 1: only reason they couldn't get. Him initially was because he
- 1:22:55Speaker 1: couldn't get out of His Family ties stuff BECAUSE i
- 1:23:00Speaker 1: Think Meredith baxter was pregnant and like so they were
- 1:23:04Speaker 1: really Featuring MICHAEL. J fox on the show at that. Time,
- 1:23:08Speaker 1: sure and THEN i guess stuff kind of got delayed
- 1:23:11Speaker 1: a little. Bit Meredith baxter at her, baby they were
- 1:23:14Speaker 1: able to get back to regular timeline, stuff and so
- 1:23:16Speaker 1: he just Did Family ties and back to The future
- 1:23:20Speaker 1: at the same. Time oh, wow getting like five hours
- 1:23:24Speaker 1: of sleep at night and going from six am to
- 1:23:27Speaker 1: six pm just on this. Film and then, yeah just, crazy.
- 1:23:31Speaker 3: Wow that's.
- 1:23:32Speaker 5: Great during the filming of the second and third movies
- 1:23:35Speaker 5: because they filmed two and three at the same, time
- 1:23:38Speaker 5: his father passed away and he and he was working
- 1:23:43Speaker 5: like twenty hour days just like, So and wasn't Teen
- 1:23:50Speaker 5: wolf in there somewhere in that.
- 1:23:51Speaker 1: Timeframe it would have been, before, Right was that?
- 1:23:55Speaker 3: BEFORE i think just slightly, probably BUT i think, BEFORE.
- 1:23:59Speaker 5: I mean he was in so.
- 1:24:00Speaker 1: Much it's just, yeah that was his, time for, sure he.
- 1:24:05Speaker 1: Was he was a big. DEAL i did also see
- 1:24:10Speaker 1: That Ralph maccio was offered the role Of marty. McFly
- 1:24:13Speaker 1: that would have been. Interesting Joe John cusack was considered as,
- 1:24:18Speaker 1: well and THEN i also saw That Tim robbins was
- 1:24:22Speaker 1: considered for the role Of Biff. Tannon oh, WORKED i don't.
- 1:24:30Speaker 5: KNOW i don't. Know he's he's almost too much of
- 1:24:34Speaker 5: a And andy Du, Frene like he's not he's too,
- 1:24:40Speaker 5: straight like he's too much of a straight. Man and
- 1:24:44Speaker 5: he's not as like dumb as as.
- 1:24:48Speaker 3: He would have, been more like just mean mean rather
- 1:24:51Speaker 3: than like stupid.
- 1:24:52Speaker 1: Mean, YEAH i don't. Know HE i think he could
- 1:24:55Speaker 1: have Done he could have probably done. It like he
- 1:24:57Speaker 1: gets pretty out there and like The hudsucker proxy and
- 1:25:00Speaker 1: he can stretch for. Sure oh that's the. One.
- 1:25:05Speaker 3: Yeah is it high fidelity of the one where he's the?
- 1:25:08Speaker 3: Boyfriend absolute super weird that.
- 1:25:10Speaker 1: One, yes still pretty straight, though but yeah that's. True,
- 1:25:15Speaker 1: YEAH i MEAN i think they probably. Did they did,
- 1:25:18Speaker 1: well but it would have been kind of fun to
- 1:25:20Speaker 1: see him.
- 1:25:21Speaker 3: There but a little live look up. Trivia Apparently Team
- 1:25:25Speaker 3: wolf came out to or like a month after, This oh,
- 1:25:29Speaker 3: wow After back to The, Future so you're, Right, nick
- 1:25:32Speaker 3: way closer not that, Man AND i don't know if
- 1:25:35Speaker 3: they would have delayed it Because back to The future
- 1:25:37Speaker 3: was a bigger movie maybe or. Something, yeah but, yeah that's.
- 1:25:41Speaker 3: CRAZY i didn't know. That.
- 1:25:42Speaker 1: Sorry well that's ALL i had for. Trivia do you
- 1:25:44Speaker 1: have anything, Else?
- 1:25:45Speaker 5: NATE i Mean i've kind of sprinkled it in throughout the.
- 1:25:48Speaker 1: Whole, yeah for.
- 1:25:51Speaker 5: Sure there's just so much random trivia That i've read
- 1:25:54Speaker 5: about this movie over the.
- 1:25:55Speaker 1: Years that.
- 1:25:56Speaker 5: IS i, mean there's so many tiny little bloopers too
- 1:26:01Speaker 5: that you'll. Like the hand THING i always thought was
- 1:26:02Speaker 5: funny because he's looking at his left, hand but it's
- 1:26:05Speaker 5: a right hand in The.
- 1:26:08Speaker 1: That's, funny, MAN i did not that is that's really.
- 1:26:11Speaker 5: Funny It also he's, playing he's when he hits that
- 1:26:16Speaker 5: high note at the very end of the guitar. Solo,
- 1:26:20Speaker 5: uh it's. NOT i, mean obviously he's just doing a
- 1:26:24Speaker 5: bunch of, stuff so you can't really expect him to
- 1:26:26Speaker 5: get it. Right but not the right. Note, sure nice
- 1:26:32Speaker 5: because he actually is a reasonable guitar player in. General
- 1:26:37Speaker 5: like in number two when he's sitting there he's PLAYING
- 1:26:39Speaker 5: i think he's playing The Huey lewis song when they're
- 1:26:42Speaker 5: in the future and he's sitting in his house and
- 1:26:44Speaker 5: he just gets. Fired he sits down with his guitar
- 1:26:47Speaker 5: and he's But MICHAEL. J fox can play, guitar so
