- 0:04Speaker 1: Welcome back to the Richard Sherman podcast.
- 0:07Speaker 2: And you know, it's time for our week nine preview,
- 0:10Speaker 2: but we got to start with our top five Mitchell.
- 0:14Speaker 1: It's going to change up a little bit this week
- 0:16Speaker 1: for me, but we'll start with you.
- 0:17Speaker 3: There was a lot of action in the top five
- 0:20Speaker 3: this past weekend, Richard guys get knocked off left and right.
- 0:23Speaker 3: This makes for an interesting week nine power ranks. I'm
- 0:26Speaker 3: going to start at top. My top two have not changed.
- 0:30Speaker 3: The Buffalo Bills, with the win over the Baltimore Ravens,
- 0:33Speaker 3: stay at one. The 49ers, on a bye, they stay
- 0:37Speaker 3: at two. At three is where the magic happens and
- 0:40Speaker 3: things shift. The Chicago Bears went into Seattle on Monday
- 0:44Speaker 3: night and absolutely laid a shellacking to the Seattle Seahawks,
- 0:48Speaker 3: and I think they put the NFL on notice. This
- 0:50Speaker 3: Ben Johnson-led offense is very impressive, and I'm going to
- 0:56Speaker 3: put them at three. They're going to get their credit here.
- 0:59Speaker 3: They get another... prime time matchup this Sunday night. Chicago
- 1:03Speaker 3: is at three. At four, this may come as a shock,
- 1:07Speaker 3: but not to me, the Jacksonville Jaguars. This team leads
- 1:11Speaker 3: the league in point differential and is second in the
- 1:14Speaker 3: league in points allowed and first in the AFC in
- 1:16Speaker 3: points allowed with 111. Jacksonville's getting it done both offensively
- 1:20Speaker 3: and defensively. They're at four. And then finally, call me
- 1:24Speaker 3: a homer. You might see all the Detroit stuff in
- 1:26Speaker 3: my room. But what the Detroit Lions have done the
- 1:29Speaker 3: last two weeks, defeating the Green Bay Packers and then
- 1:32Speaker 3: the undefeated Minnesota Vikings, they deserve to be in the
- 1:36Speaker 3: top five in my opinion. I am putting them at five, Richard.
- 1:40Speaker 3: What did I get right and what did I get wrong?
- 1:45Speaker 2: Well, we are going to continue to disagree on one
- 1:48Speaker 2: and two. I think the San Francisco 49ers, who had
- 1:51Speaker 2: a bye this week, are the most complete team in
- 1:54Speaker 2: the National Football League, you know, all. That lost Atlanta
- 1:58Speaker 2: side with those four turnovers, a really bad loss. But
- 2:02Speaker 2: the Buffalo Bills stay at two for me. Played really
- 2:05Speaker 2: good against that Baltimore Ravens team without Lamar Jackson and
- 2:08Speaker 2: then without Tyler Huntley. The third quarterback is now banged
- 2:13Speaker 2: up for Baltimore. I mean, if you're a Baltimore Ravens fan,
- 2:16Speaker 2: I feel we'll see you Thursday. And at number three,
- 2:22Speaker 2: I think we can agree there, the Bears are there.
- 2:25Speaker 2: An emphatic win in Seattle. And that defensive line, Jeffrey Simmons,
- 2:30Speaker 2: the new addition, changing the whole chemistry of this defense
- 2:34Speaker 2: and everything they do. Now Dennis Allen only needs to
- 2:37Speaker 2: rush four to get pressure. It's making the secondary a
- 2:41Speaker 2: lot more cohesive, a lot more difficult to deal with.
- 2:44Speaker 2: And Montez Sweat, yes, Montez Sweat, Jeffrey Simmons, sorry Bears fans,
- 2:50Speaker 2: You guys got a little peeved about that.
- 2:52Speaker 1: I respect it. At number four, Jags. I know Duvall.
- 2:58Speaker 2: We've had our time, haven't we? But that receiving core
- 3:01Speaker 2: is playing really well. That defense is playing fantastic against
- 3:05Speaker 2: the run. It's against the pass that I'm a little
- 3:07Speaker 2: worried about it down the line. They aren't great against
- 3:10Speaker 2: the pass, giving up 264 yards a game. But they
- 3:13Speaker 2: take the ball away. They get interceptions. The secondary takes
- 3:17Speaker 2: the ball away at the second-best rate in the National
- 3:20Speaker 2: Football League, and that's why I have confidence in them.
- 3:22Speaker 2: They're phenomenal on third down. They're great in the red zone.
- 3:25Speaker 2: I think they'll be okay. And at number five, the Broncos.
- 3:30Speaker 2: The offense hasn't been the greatest at times, but it
- 3:35Speaker 2: seems like Bo Nix is starting to find his way,
- 3:37Speaker 2: using his legs through the air, getting his guys involved.
- 3:41Speaker 2: He got Waddle involved a lot more last game. And
- 3:44Speaker 2: this defense, with Jonathan Cooper back, is going to continue
- 3:48Speaker 2: to gel and get back to the way they were
- 3:51Speaker 2: and find their stride. And if they do that, they're
- 3:54Speaker 2: one of the best teams in the National Football League.
- 3:55Speaker 2: That's why they're number five.
- 3:57Speaker 3: There are two glaring omissions from both of ours, the
- 3:59Speaker 3: Kansas City Chiefs and the Minnesota Vikings. Starting with Kansas City,
- 4:02Speaker 3: they lose two in a row. I mean, dropping out
- 4:05Speaker 3: of the top five after losing two in a row,
- 4:07Speaker 3: I think is mandatory. And then the Minnesota Vikings, yeah,
- 4:11Speaker 3: you know, one loss on the season, but I saw
- 4:14Speaker 3: it with my own two eyes this past weekend, this offense,
- 4:17Speaker 3: and I don't think running back is their issue. I
- 4:19Speaker 3: know the running game is sluggish right now. I think
- 4:22Speaker 3: quarterback play is their issue. Until the Minnesota Vikings start
- 4:26Speaker 3: playing better offensively, this team, to me, is a massive
- 4:30Speaker 3: question mark, and they certainly were exposed in that second
- 4:32Speaker 3: half with the Detroit Lions' run game. Richard, let's get
- 4:36Speaker 3: into the Week 9 matchups here, and we're going to
- 4:38Speaker 3: start with the San Francisco 49ers hosting the the Las
- 4:43Speaker 3: Vegas Raiders. Polly Market gives 49ers an 80% likelihood of
- 4:48Speaker 3: winning this game. DeForest Buckner is back in the fold.
- 4:52Speaker 3: What are you expecting from this 49er team come Sunday?
- 4:57Speaker 1: It's going to be exciting.
- 4:59Speaker 2: I'm not sure he's getting his number 99 back because
- 5:02Speaker 2: of the small print in the rules about a guy
- 5:06Speaker 2: starting games for the team, etc.
- 5:08Speaker 1: etc.
- 5:09Speaker 2: but I think it's going to be good to see
- 5:11Speaker 2: him back on the field in San Francisco. I know
- 5:13Speaker 2: Chris Kocerec, DeForest said he fell to his knees when
- 5:18Speaker 2: he realized he was headed back to the San Francisco 49ers.
- 5:21Speaker 2: And I'm sure Chris Kocerec did the same in Santa
- 5:24Speaker 2: Clara when he found out. Because this guy is not
- 5:26Speaker 2: only an incredible impact player on the field, but he's
- 5:30Speaker 2: an incredible leader in that room. He's going to be
- 5:33Speaker 2: great for those young guys. He's going to be great
- 5:35Speaker 2: for Alfred Collins, great for Mikel Williams. Guys like that
- 5:39Speaker 2: who are still developing, figuring out who they are. A
- 5:42Speaker 2: veteran like this helps take them over the top and
- 5:46Speaker 2: really adds a lot of substance to this 49ers defensive
- 5:50Speaker 2: line room. He's going to be great on the field.
- 5:53Speaker 2: I would be surprised if he doesn't have immediate impact
- 5:57Speaker 2: and he's jumping out of his shoes first snap of
- 5:59Speaker 2: the game and harassing Kirk Cousins. I got the San
- 6:04Speaker 2: Francisco 49ers winning this game. but I know Kirk Cousins.
- 6:08Speaker 2: Kirk Cousins can play. He's leading the league in touchdown passes,
- 6:12Speaker 2: and he's going to have an impact. He's going to
- 6:13Speaker 2: keep the Raiders in it. Kirk Cousins is going to
- 6:16Speaker 2: do a great job finding Brock Bowers. He's had a
- 6:19Speaker 2: phenomenal season. This Brandon Iyuk situation continues to evolve. Everybody
- 6:24Speaker 2: thought it was going away. You thought it had quieted down,
- 6:28Speaker 2: but he's gotten new representation, and it's Drew Rosenhaus. So
- 6:33Speaker 2: it sounds like he's going to file for reinstatement for
- 6:38Speaker 2: however long that takes the league to go through what
- 6:41Speaker 2: they need to go through to reinstate him. And then
- 6:44Speaker 2: the 49ers make a decision whether to release him or
- 6:48Speaker 2: keep him or whatever they do. I know there are
- 6:51Speaker 2: some cap issues if they release him immediately. I think
- 6:55Speaker 2: they take on some cap hits or something like that.
- 6:59Speaker 2: So that's what I would expect them to do. But
- 7:04Speaker 2: If it becomes too big of an issue, you know,
- 7:06Speaker 2: maybe there's some alternatives that they look into trading him,
- 7:09Speaker 2: et cetera, et cetera. But again, the salary is prohibitive.
- 7:12Speaker 2: His behavior is prohibitive to probably any trades, especially with
- 7:16Speaker 2: the trade deadline looming. But this San Francisco 49ers team
- 7:21Speaker 2: looks great. They're going against the 31st ranked run defense.
- 7:24Speaker 2: So Christian McCaffrey, Kalon Black should be a good game
- 7:28Speaker 2: for them.
- 7:28Speaker 1: Hopefully. Hopefully.
- 7:30Speaker 2: The bye week allowed them to get healthier in the
- 7:32Speaker 2: receiving core. They're without their top five receivers. We'll see
- 7:37Speaker 2: how this goes. If this defense, just like the Chicago Bears,
- 7:41Speaker 2: if they can get home with four and Raheem Morris
- 7:44Speaker 2: can leave those guys back to cover, you can leave
- 7:46Speaker 2: more guys in. And for coverage, you can leave all
- 7:51Speaker 2: seven back in coverage. It'll make for a great defense
- 7:54Speaker 2: and give Kirk Cousins a lot of trouble.
- 7:56Speaker 1: I look forward to seeing it.
- 7:57Speaker 3: You already mentioned it. Kirk Cousins leading the league in
- 8:00Speaker 3: touchdown passes and his main weapon, Barack Bowers. What he's
- 8:04Speaker 3: done coming into this league has been nothing short of remarkable.
- 8:08Speaker 3: He is clearly Kirk Cousins' top target. As a defense,
- 8:12Speaker 3: what do you do to prepare for a matchup like
- 8:14Speaker 3: this against an elite tight end?
- 8:19Speaker 2: Well, I mean, clearly there's not a ton you can do.
- 8:24Speaker 2: He has 547 yards, five touchdowns on the season. You
- 8:28Speaker 2: try to slow him down. You try to put people
- 8:31Speaker 2: in his space. There are guys that try to maybe
- 8:34Speaker 2: jam him with a defensive lineman before he releases, just
- 8:37Speaker 2: kind of muddy the picture. But when he's your top target,
- 8:40Speaker 2: Kirk's going to wait for him. And if he gets one-on-one,
- 8:43Speaker 2: if he gets matchups where guys are matched within a
- 8:47Speaker 2: zone on him– He usually does a great job finding space,
- 8:51Speaker 2: catching the ball out in front of him, so it
- 8:52Speaker 2: makes for a difficult matchup. They're going to have to
- 8:54Speaker 2: put pressure on Kirk Cousins and not allow him to
- 8:56Speaker 2: get the ball out to Brock Powers, or it's going
- 8:58Speaker 2: to be an issue.
- 8:59Speaker 3: Let's take it to Seattle. The Seattle Seahawks, in desperate
- 9:02Speaker 3: need of a victory, host the Arizona Cardinals. Richard, we
- 9:06Speaker 3: both watched it on Monday night. The Seattle Seahawks seem
- 9:09Speaker 3: to be outmatched heavily by the Chicago Bears. A week
- 9:13Speaker 3: after showing the world that they're still the champions, knocking
- 9:16Speaker 3: off the Kansas City Chiefs 20-3, We thought they would
- 9:19Speaker 3: keep this momentum and the, what the bears did in
- 9:22Speaker 3: Lumen field is absolutely impressive. How worried are you about
- 9:27Speaker 3: the Seattle Seahawks team right now being 500 after eight games?
- 9:33Speaker 1: I'm a little stressed.
- 9:34Speaker 2: I'm a little stressed, uh, because right now they're outside
- 9:37Speaker 2: of the playoff picture looking in, and that's not where
- 9:40Speaker 2: you want to be at this point of the season,
- 9:42Speaker 2: especially within this very tough division with a very tough
- 9:45Speaker 2: schedule down the stretch. Um, They have to figure it
- 9:50Speaker 2: out offensively. They have to figure out this run game. Now,
- 9:53Speaker 2: I would usually say Arizona Cardinal game is a perfect
- 9:55Speaker 2: game to figure things out. But then you got Gardner
- 9:58Speaker 2: Minshew and Gardner Minshew. is an old-school gunslinger. You never
- 10:01Speaker 2: know what you're going to get, and he has no fear,
- 10:04Speaker 2: and quarterbacks without any fear, pushing the ball down the field,
- 10:07Speaker 2: throwing it around the yard, they are sometimes unpredictable and
- 10:10Speaker 2: very dangerous. Now, that could lead to four or five interceptions,
- 10:14Speaker 2: and the Seattle Seahawks defense rides off into the sunset,
- 10:17Speaker 2: but it could also make for a lot more surprising
- 10:20Speaker 2: of a game. So, they're going to have to rebound
- 10:24Speaker 2: and play really well against Gardner Minshew. They're going to
- 10:26Speaker 2: have to put pressure on him. Offensively, they're going to
- 10:31Speaker 2: have to run the ball, and it's going to start
- 10:33Speaker 2: running behind Quentin Nelson. He gets another week in this
- 10:36Speaker 2: offense to kind of settle down the offensive line. Gray
- 10:40Speaker 2: Zabel gets another week to settle down at right guard.
- 10:43Speaker 2: It takes a second, and We'll see how that goes,
- 10:46Speaker 2: but I don't just have this game as a super
- 10:49Speaker 2: big layup anymore because of how things went last week
- 10:52Speaker 2: against Chicago Bears. Now, these Cardinals aren't the Chicago Bears,
- 10:55Speaker 2: but they put up a heck of a fight once
- 10:57Speaker 2: Gardner Minshew got in against the Dallas Cowboys. Now, the
- 11:00Speaker 2: Dallas Cowboys' defense isn't anywhere close to Seattle's defense, so
- 11:03Speaker 2: this could be a runaway, but I'm walking around with
- 11:06Speaker 2: a lot of caution. I got the Seattle Seahawks in
- 11:08Speaker 2: this game, but I think it's going to be more
- 11:11Speaker 2: of a fun game than we predicted.
- 11:13Speaker 3: What needs to change for Seattle offensively? Because the reality is, yeah,
- 11:17Speaker 3: this team scored 20 points and won against Kansas City Chiefs,
- 11:20Speaker 3: but it doesn't appear to be the same offense as
- 11:23Speaker 3: last year. And then on Monday night, we saw them
- 11:25Speaker 3: only put up 17 against Chicago. Turnovers have obviously been
- 11:29Speaker 3: an issue for Sam Darnold. How do the Seattle Seahawks
- 11:33Speaker 3: right this ship?
- 11:37Speaker 2: That's a great question. It starts with supporting them with
- 11:40Speaker 2: the run game. You have to run the football. they're
- 11:43Speaker 2: one dimensional right now. And, and they're, they're one dimension
- 11:46Speaker 2: of one dimensional. They're Jackson Smith and Jigba or bust.
- 11:49Speaker 2: And you have to get other people involved. You have
- 11:52Speaker 2: to get Torrey Horton, AJ Barner. You have to get
- 11:55Speaker 2: the running backs involved in the past game, the screen game.
- 11:58Speaker 2: Like you have to find a way to generate more
- 12:01Speaker 2: yards without just taking shots with Jackson Smith and Jigba
- 12:04Speaker 2: or giving them the ball and watching them zigzag his
- 12:07Speaker 2: way through the defense. You have to start to generate
- 12:09Speaker 2: offense in more ways and, And they haven't found a
- 12:12Speaker 2: way to do that. So, yes, Sam's struggling. And I
- 12:16Speaker 2: know the interception wasn't necessarily his fault. But when it
- 12:20Speaker 2: keeps happening and tip balls, it just seems like the
- 12:23Speaker 2: bad luck just keeps piling on for him this season.
- 12:26Speaker 2: But if he can figure it out, they can go
- 12:28Speaker 2: on a run, win a few games in a row,
- 12:30Speaker 2: and get themselves back in playoff position. Again, they're going
- 12:32Speaker 2: to be a dangerous team. They're a championship team come
- 12:35Speaker 2: playoff time. But they've got to show it.
- 12:40Speaker 3: Polly Market favors the Seahawks heavily in this one, favoring them,
- 12:43Speaker 3: giving them an 84% chance of winning this game. That
- 12:47Speaker 3: being said, you are throwing a little bit of a
- 12:49Speaker 3: caution flag up there for Seattle. What do you think
- 12:51Speaker 3: the final score will be in this one?
- 13:03Speaker 1: I give 28-21 Seattle.
- 13:07Speaker 3: Let's take it to Chicago, the team that looked amazingly
- 13:10Speaker 3: competitive and one of the NFL's best this past weekend.
- 13:14Speaker 3: They host the Buccaneers, fresh off a win over Atlanta
- 13:18Speaker 3: without completing a pass. Baker Mayfield has won two games
- 13:21Speaker 3: in a row with absolute minimal effort through the air.
- 13:26Speaker 3: That's eventually going to have to change, and I'm assuming
- 13:28Speaker 3: it's going to have to change this Sunday night against Chicago.
- 13:31Speaker 3: This Bears defense looked amazing. extremely good against seattle you
- 13:35Speaker 3: already touched on it you said they're one of the
- 13:37Speaker 3: top 10 defenses in the nfl after the acquisition of
- 13:40Speaker 3: jeffrey simmons how good is this bears team would you
- 13:43Speaker 3: classify them as you know the main competitor to sam
- 13:48Speaker 3: fran in the nfc at this point.
- 13:51Speaker 2: Yeah yeah i'd consider them the main competitor if not
- 13:55Speaker 2: the competitor uh the top contender in the national football
- 13:58Speaker 2: league with how they looked last week against seattle Both
- 14:01Speaker 2: sides of the football, they were dominant, and it started
- 14:04Speaker 2: with the trenches. Both of their defensive line and their
- 14:07Speaker 2: offensive line were dominant in that game against a team
- 14:10Speaker 2: whose defensive line is one of the best in the
- 14:12Speaker 2: National Football League. So, again, I think championships are won
- 14:16Speaker 2: in the trenches. You win them by having all pros
- 14:20Speaker 2: on a defensive line and an all-pro on an offensive line.
- 14:22Speaker 2: And bringing in Jeffrey Simmons, they have an all-pro on
- 14:24Speaker 2: a defensive line. Joe Tooney, they got an all-pro and
- 14:28Speaker 2: all-offensive line. They can get it done with the best
- 14:30Speaker 2: of them. And I think that was a litmus test.
- 14:32Speaker 2: Not only was it the Seattle Seahawks, the reigning Super
- 14:35Speaker 2: Bowl champs, but it was in Seattle, in a tough environment,
- 14:37Speaker 2: on the road. Like, can you still play at the
- 14:40Speaker 2: level that you have played at all season? And they
- 14:42Speaker 2: showed they are more than capable, scoring 34 points, and
- 14:45Speaker 2: then their defense holding this offense to 17 points. This
- 14:48Speaker 2: is going to be another one of those tests for
- 14:50Speaker 2: their offense, at least. The Tampa Bay Buccaneers' defense, has
- 14:53Speaker 2: kind of found their way. Their third yardage, their second
- 14:56Speaker 2: against the run. Todd Bowles brings some very unique exotic blitzes,
- 15:03Speaker 2: and Caleb is going to have to figure those out.
- 15:06Speaker 2: He's going to have to diagnose those offensively. They haven't
- 15:08Speaker 2: been great. Like you said, Baker Mayfield got through last
- 15:11Speaker 2: week's win without completing a pass. He was 0 for
- 15:14Speaker 2: 3 with a fumble, and it was a rainy game.
- 15:17Speaker 2: They had two backs that ran over 50 times for
- 15:21Speaker 2: 140 and 170 yards. And Bucky Irvin's had an incredible season.
- 15:28Speaker 2: He's got already at 728 yards, five touchdowns on the year.
- 15:32Speaker 2: He had 170 yards last week. And if they can
- 15:36Speaker 2: run the ball and control the clock, that's the Tampa
- 15:39Speaker 2: Bay Buccaneers' only shot in this game. But the Chicago Bears'
- 15:43Speaker 2: defense is getting after people. They're playing with a lot
- 15:45Speaker 2: of confidence. They're playing with a lot of swagger. And
- 15:47Speaker 2: that win against the reigning Super Bowl champs had to
- 15:50Speaker 2: give them even more confidence. And Caleb Williams, Luther Burden,
- 15:54Speaker 2: Roma Dunze, Colston Loveland. Those guys are becoming household names
- 15:59Speaker 2: and weapons that Caleb Williams can count on. And Ben
- 16:02Speaker 2: Johnson is drawing it up with the best of them.
- 16:05Speaker 2: Give me the Chicago Bears in this one. 30 to 17.
- 16:11Speaker 3: Chicago is going to be tough to knock off. And
- 16:13Speaker 3: Caleb Williams is certainly coming into his own. You were
- 16:16Speaker 3: on the Manning cast on Monday night talking about Caleb
- 16:19Speaker 3: Williams and his game. He's a unique quarterback in the
- 16:22Speaker 3: sense that he can work through his progressions with a
- 16:24Speaker 3: clean pocket and deliver a strike, but he can also
- 16:26Speaker 3: get out of the pocket when he's in trouble and
- 16:28Speaker 3: create plays. You played against some athletic quarterbacks in your day.
- 16:33Speaker 3: Who does he remind you of in terms of someone
- 16:35Speaker 3: you faced in your past?
- 16:37Speaker 2: He's probably a combination of a few people because he's
- 16:41Speaker 2: so mobile. It comes really easy for him to move
- 16:47Speaker 2: around in the pocket. Uh, Kaepernick was a guy that,
- 16:50Speaker 2: that kind of moved like that, um, and was mobile,
- 16:53Speaker 2: but still keeping his eyes down the field, but could,
- 16:56Speaker 2: you know, he was more of a runner. He'd, he'd
- 16:58Speaker 2: take off a little bit more. Um, I'm trying to think,
- 17:03Speaker 2: he's such a unique quarterback because he's, he's been so
- 17:05Speaker 2: accurate this year. It's crazy how accurate he became in
- 17:08Speaker 2: year three compared to year two. He was one of
- 17:11Speaker 2: the least accurate quarterbacks in national football league last year.
- 17:13Speaker 2: He's one of the most accurate this year. Um, I
- 17:18Speaker 2: really can't think of anybody that I'm really... I mean, Aaron. Aaron,
- 17:22Speaker 2: I guess, in some ways. Aaron Rodgers, just the way
- 17:26Speaker 2: they scramble out of the pocket and steal quick flip,
- 17:29Speaker 2: can get the ball anywhere he wants down the field,
- 17:32Speaker 2: not afraid to go across his body behind him. Yeah,
- 17:38Speaker 2: I would say Aaron's probably the guy that I would...
- 17:41Speaker 2: When Aaron was mobile and moving around, he's not as
- 17:45Speaker 2: mobile anymore, but Yeah, he's having a great season. I
- 17:49Speaker 2: think him and Ben Johnson are a match made in heaven,
- 17:52Speaker 2: and we'll see how that ends this season.
- 17:55Speaker 3: This team is a tough one to stop offensively. Another
- 17:58Speaker 3: added unsung hero, DeAndre Swift with 545 yards on the
- 18:02Speaker 3: ground and 10 touchdowns already midway through the season. Good
- 18:07Speaker 3: luck to whoever's going against Chicago. This game preview is
- 18:11Speaker 3: sponsored by Polymarket. We're going to take it to Minnesota
- 18:14Speaker 3: where the Bills are facing the Minnesota Vikings on Monday
- 18:18Speaker 3: Night Football. Polymarket has the Bills beating the Vikings at 64%
- 18:23Speaker 3: odds while the Vikings are at 36%. So this week,
- 18:29Speaker 3: do you agree with Polymarket in favoring the Buffalo Bills
- 18:33Speaker 3: on the road in Minnesota?
- 18:34Speaker 1: I do. I do.
- 18:36Speaker 2: I agree with Polly Market, Buffalo Bills, Josh Allen. If
- 18:39Speaker 2: he's healthy, most times they're going to be favored in
- 18:42Speaker 2: that game. And this Minnesota Vikings team has played really well.
- 18:45Speaker 2: You've got to give them credit. They have played good football,
- 18:48Speaker 2: but offensively, they are not good enough right now to
- 18:52Speaker 2: be a championship team, and that's what's holding them back.
- 18:54Speaker 2: You would have expected them to be strong in the
- 18:58Speaker 2: Jonathan Taylor sweepstakes and maybe trying to find– even more offense, uh,
- 19:06Speaker 2: for this team, maybe even a quarterback. I thought maybe
- 19:08Speaker 2: they should kick the tires, uh, and see if Mac
- 19:12Speaker 2: Jones is available and not because Kyler is terrible, but
- 19:16Speaker 2: because he fits this offense and what they're trying to do.
- 19:19Speaker 1: And if they, and if this defense is.
- 19:21Speaker 2: Playing well enough, then maybe you need a quarterback that
- 19:24Speaker 2: is more competent, more experienced in this offense to, to
- 19:27Speaker 2: kind of get you going. I'm sure Justin Jefferson would
- 19:30Speaker 2: appreciate that. Uh, I'm sure Addison would appreciate that because
- 19:36Speaker 2: right now they're being held back. They have a governor.
- 19:39Speaker 2: And if Kyler Murray can break through and become the
- 19:43Speaker 2: quarterback that Kevin O'Connell believes he can be, then sure,
- 19:46Speaker 2: I think they have a chance to to, to make
- 19:48Speaker 2: some noise because this defense is that special. Uh, Brian
- 19:52Speaker 2: Flores is calling it at a really high tilt. He's
- 19:55Speaker 2: doing a great job with this team, but if they don't,
- 20:00Speaker 2: if they can't run the football and they haven't been
- 20:01Speaker 2: able to run the football at a high level right now,
- 20:03Speaker 2: Aaron Jones, 458 yards on the season, um, I just
- 20:09Speaker 2: don't see it happening.
- 20:10Speaker 1: I don't see it happening.
- 20:11Speaker 2: Kyler has barely thrown 4,000 yards, five touchdowns, three interceptions.
- 20:16Speaker 2: Justin Jefferson's numbers are underwhelming right now, and I'm sure
- 20:20Speaker 2: he's frustrated about that, but they're winning, so it's okay.
- 20:23Speaker 2: But I don't think they get past the Buffalo Bills
- 20:26Speaker 2: and Josh Allen. He's having another fantastic season. James Cook,
- 20:31Speaker 2: 707 yards, seven touchdowns on the season. He's having a
- 20:34Speaker 2: great season. I think they continue that in a grinded-out,
- 20:38Speaker 2: kind of gritty game, a gritty win.
- 20:42Speaker 1: For the Buffalo Bills. Give me Buffalo.
- 20:44Speaker 2: 19, 13 to 19, you know, something around there, some
- 20:52Speaker 2: weird score.
- 20:54Speaker 3: You're looking at almost the exact same score as what
- 20:57Speaker 3: we saw in Detroit last week. And it's crazy to
- 20:59Speaker 3: hear you talk about a six and one team like
- 21:01Speaker 3: the Vikings. But the reality is, As good as their
- 21:05Speaker 3: defense is, they have so many deficiencies offensively, and it
- 21:10Speaker 3: just begs the question. I mean, you see the success J.J.
- 21:13Speaker 3: McCarthy is having now with the New York Giants, and
- 21:15Speaker 3: then you get into the one-if game. You know, Kirk
- 21:18Speaker 3: Cousins could have been yours in free agency. Instead, you
- 21:21Speaker 3: go with Kyler Murray, and now you see Kirk Cousins
- 21:23Speaker 3: leading the league in touchdown passes. What could this team
- 21:26Speaker 3: have been with the consistency and cohesion brought back with
- 21:30Speaker 3: Kirk Cousins? Minnesota had their options, and I unfortunately think
- 21:34Speaker 3: this quarterback situation is going to be their fatal flaw.
- 21:37Speaker 3: We've already addressed it. Their next four games, including Detroit,
- 21:41Speaker 3: which they just lost, are all very losable games. I
- 21:44Speaker 3: expect them to lose this one as well, Richard, at
- 21:47Speaker 3: home against the Buffalo Bills. Final question, the spread is 3.5.
- 21:52Speaker 3: You already answered it, 19-13. That's a cover for the Bills.
- 21:55Speaker 3: I'm going to join you on that. The Buffalo Bills
- 21:58Speaker 3: win and cover the 3.5. And that's the best thing
- 22:02Speaker 3: about Polymarket. It's an alternative traditional sports book that keeps
- 22:05Speaker 3: you in control of your games. Tune in Monday night.
- 22:09Speaker 3: Bills at Vikings. Going to be a wild one.
- 22:13Speaker 2: I need to tell you about this new prediction market
- 22:16Speaker 2: called Polymarket. It's the best new way to trade in sports.
- 22:21Speaker 3: In the past, if you wanted action on the game,
- 22:24Speaker 3: you put some money in. And if your team was
- 22:26Speaker 3: doing well and you wanted to cash out, They'd lock
- 22:29Speaker 3: the trade or take a huge fee.
- 22:32Speaker 2: But Polymarket is a prediction market. It's a stock exchange
- 22:36Speaker 2: for sports, buying in and selling out on your terms.
- 22:40Speaker 3: Richard, I've tried them all, and Polymarket is simply the
- 22:44Speaker 3: best prediction market. It's better than DraftKings. It's better than FanDuel, CalSheet,
- 22:48Speaker 3: you name it.
- 22:50Speaker 2: And they're so confident that you will never go back
- 22:52Speaker 2: to the other guys that they're giving you a free
- 22:55Speaker 2: $ 25 on your first trade when you deposit just $ 10.
- 23:00Speaker 3: And now they've launched a new feature. It's called Squads,
- 23:04Speaker 3: a group chat where you can see what everyone is
- 23:06Speaker 3: trading on.
- 23:07Speaker 2: So download the Polymarket app today and use the promo
- 23:11Speaker 2: code Sherman when you sign up. That's S-H-E-R-M-A-N to get
- 23:14Speaker 2: $ 25 free after you deposit just $ 10. Monday night delivers
- 23:23Speaker 2: the final statement of the football week. You've spent all
- 23:26Speaker 2: weekend reacting to big plays and big decisions, and now
- 23:29Speaker 2: there's one more matchup to break down. It's the kind
- 23:32Speaker 2: of night you plan around, so dinner should elevate it,
- 23:35Speaker 2: not pull you away from it. And DiGiorno Pizza lets
- 23:38Speaker 2: you enjoy restaurant-quality taste fresh from your own oven. While
- 23:44Speaker 2: you settle in and watch how the defense disguises coverage,
- 23:47Speaker 2: how the offense adjusts, and Who makes the play when
- 23:51Speaker 2: everybody knows the pressure is coming? Stay locked in to
- 23:54Speaker 2: the moments everyone will react afterwards to. The fourth down call,
- 23:59Speaker 2: the coverage bust, the turnover that changes everything. Monday night
- 24:04Speaker 2: is too good to treat like an ordinary weeknight. So
- 24:09Speaker 2: don't just make do, make DiGiorno. It's not delivery, baby.
- 24:14Speaker 1: It's DiGiorno.
- 24:15Speaker 3: Let's go to Thursday night, a game you'll be at
- 24:17Speaker 3: in Baltimore. The Ravens hosting the Jacksonville Jaguars. And on paper,
- 24:22Speaker 3: at the beginning of the season, this looked like it
- 24:24Speaker 3: could have been a great one. Little did we know
- 24:26Speaker 3: Baltimore may be on their fourth quarterback, undetermined quarterback. We
- 24:30Speaker 3: shall see. But Richard, I don't even know where to
- 24:33Speaker 3: begin here. Let's just start with the Jacksonville Jaguars. This team,
- 24:38Speaker 3: as I said, they are number four in my power ranks.
- 24:40Speaker 3: And after diving into the statistics of this team, They're
- 24:43Speaker 3: one of the most well-rounded teams in the league. You
- 24:46Speaker 3: always address teams like the lions, the bills as this
- 24:49Speaker 3: half baked team, Jacksonville looks fully baked. They got an
- 24:53Speaker 3: offense to go along with the defense. So talk to me,
- 24:56Speaker 3: are they legit contenders in the AFC?
- 24:59Speaker 2: I think they are legit contenders, but, um, they definitely
- 25:02Speaker 2: are more complete than, than most of these teams. It's
- 25:05Speaker 2: just certain sides of the ball are a bit half baked.
- 25:09Speaker 2: They're great run defense. They're great. They're great at stopping
- 25:12Speaker 2: the run. Uh, they're not so great at stopping the pass.
- 25:15Speaker 2: And I think that's the Achilles heel of this team.
- 25:18Speaker 2: They give up 253.9, it.
- 25:22Speaker 1: Looks like.
- 25:22Speaker 2: It's changed a little bit, yards a game, but they're
- 25:25Speaker 2: 29th in pass defense right now. And in order to
- 25:29Speaker 2: be a top defense, you got to be in the
- 25:32Speaker 2: upper half, at least, in both categories, both run defense
- 25:35Speaker 2: and pass defense. They do take the ball away at
- 25:38Speaker 2: a high level, and that kind of masks some of
- 25:41Speaker 2: their issues. But they're able to run the football really well.
- 25:47Speaker 2: Trevor Lawrence is having his best season as a pro,
- 25:50Speaker 2: in my opinion. So I think they're one of the
- 25:53Speaker 2: best teams in football. I don't think Baltimore is going
- 25:56Speaker 2: to have enough defensively or offensively. They were on the
- 25:59Speaker 2: field for 37 minutes as a defense last week because
- 26:03Speaker 2: the offense couldn't generate enough against the Buffalo Bills. So
- 26:06Speaker 2: I think it's going to be that kind of game.
- 26:08Speaker 2: And I think Trevor Lawrence and his receiving core, one
- 26:10Speaker 2: of the top receiving cores in the National Football League,
- 26:12Speaker 2: They're going to have their way. They're going to be
- 26:14Speaker 2: able to push the ball down the field. They're going
- 26:16Speaker 2: to be able to run the football. And then defensively,
- 26:20Speaker 2: they're going to get after it. Derrick Henry is still
- 26:23Speaker 2: a very formidable back in the National Football League, but
- 26:26Speaker 2: he's going against the number one run defense with a
- 26:28Speaker 2: questionable quarterback. So I'm sure that Jacksonville is going to
- 26:32Speaker 2: stack the box and they're going to blitz him. They're
- 26:34Speaker 2: going to put a lot of pressure in his face.
- 26:36Speaker 2: and they're going to cause some turnovers because that's what
- 26:39Speaker 2: this defense is known for. They're known for creating chaos,
- 26:41Speaker 2: causing turnovers, and taking advantage of those in this offense,
- 26:45Speaker 2: generating more points that way. Give me Jacksonville in this one.
- 26:52Speaker 1: 24-13.
- 26:54Speaker 3: Unfortunately for the Baltimore Ravens, they're one of the better
- 26:57Speaker 3: teams in this league defensively, and they have a plethora
- 27:00Speaker 3: of offensive weapons as well. They have a glaring hole
- 27:03Speaker 3: at quarterback right now with Lamar Jackson out for the season.
- 27:07Speaker 3: If you're Eric DaCosta, GM for the Baltimore Ravens, what
- 27:10Speaker 3: move are you making to try to save this season?
- 27:13Speaker 3: Because they're 4-4 right now, Richard. They can still get
- 27:15Speaker 3: back into this thing.
- 27:19Speaker 2: I'm really not sure because this offense is so uniquely
- 27:27Speaker 2: suited to Lamar Jackson and what he does well. His arm,
- 27:33Speaker 2: how he sees the field, his legs when he's running.
- 27:37Speaker 2: And there aren't a lot of quarterbacks that are available
- 27:40Speaker 2: right now that could fit this. I think a curveball
- 27:46Speaker 2: and a wild card of a pick just for shits
- 27:49Speaker 2: and gigs, give me Anthony Richardson, a guy that might
- 27:53Speaker 2: come in cheap.
- 27:54Speaker 1: I mean, why not? And we're going to run him.
- 27:56Speaker 3: I agree.
- 27:57Speaker 2: You know, we're going to run him. We're going to
- 27:59Speaker 2: make it easy, simplify the game for him. I mean,
- 28:01Speaker 2: it's better than what you got. And not that he's
- 28:03Speaker 2: going to save their season, but it's a developmental guy.
- 28:06Speaker 2: that can come in and has the physical tools that
- 28:10Speaker 2: you could say, hey, we need you to take off
- 28:12Speaker 2: on these plays. We need you, hey, simple reads, get
- 28:16Speaker 2: through this offense, and maybe it doesn't work out. But
- 28:19Speaker 2: right now what you're putting out there isn't going to
- 28:20Speaker 2: work out either. At least you could feel like you're
- 28:24Speaker 2: going in with some curiosity into these games, which I
- 28:29Speaker 2: don't feel like they're going into right now.
- 28:32Speaker 3: Wild question here, but I got to ask it. Lamar
- 28:34Speaker 3: out for the season, 29 years old. He's got no
- 28:36Speaker 3: more guaranteed money on his contract. Is there a world
- 28:39Speaker 3: that we do not see Lamar suit up in a
- 28:41Speaker 3: Baltimore Ravens jersey again?
- 28:44Speaker 2: Not a world where Baltimore fans aren't rioting and looting
- 28:48Speaker 2: in the streets. I don't think so. You know, he's
- 28:52Speaker 2: had some unfortunate injuries. That thumb injury is not a
- 28:55Speaker 2: ton you can do. That's not like, oh man, it's his.
- 29:00Speaker 2: His thumb got caught in a pile. You know, that's
- 29:02Speaker 2: one of those unfortunate things. This isn't a hamstring. This
- 29:05Speaker 2: isn't a quad, you know, anything like that where you're like,
- 29:09Speaker 2: oh man, is he not taking care of his body?
- 29:12Speaker 2: Is it just, you know, going out on him? I
- 29:14Speaker 2: think he's fine. I think he's going to be a
- 29:16Speaker 2: Baltimore Ravens, be the quarterback for the Baltimore Ravens for
- 29:21Speaker 2: a very long time. If not, that would be really surprising.
- 29:24Speaker 2: And I think things will start to be shaken up
- 29:28Speaker 2: in a big way. And then, you start to have
- 29:32Speaker 2: a lot more question marks than answers. And, you know,
- 29:35Speaker 2: DaCosta's job may be on the line soon after that.
- 29:38Speaker 2: I think that's when things kind of start. muddying up and,
- 29:42Speaker 2: you know, then it's almost time for a factory reset
- 29:44Speaker 2: of everything if you're getting rid of the quarterback.
- 29:48Speaker 3: Let's talk about the Detroit Lions. They head to Miami.
- 29:52Speaker 3: And Richard, before we get into this game, Let's talk
- 29:55Speaker 3: about the human side of football here. Prayers up for
- 29:58Speaker 3: Jack Campbell and his family. What we saw on Sunday
- 30:01Speaker 3: is scary. Unfortunately, this sport is a violent one, and
- 30:07Speaker 3: we saw that on Sunday. So prayers for Jack Campbell
- 30:11Speaker 3: and his family, praying for a speedy recovery. The whole
- 30:15Speaker 3: Lions community and NFL community is behind you. Let's talk
- 30:19Speaker 3: a little bit about the Lions. Obviously, an impressive win
- 30:22Speaker 3: on Sunday. against the Minnesota Vikings. They've proven themselves these
- 30:27Speaker 3: last two games against Green Bay Packers and against the
- 30:30Speaker 3: Minnesota Vikings. This was a tipping point of the season
- 30:33Speaker 3: for the Detroit Lions, and they accomplished their mission of
- 30:36Speaker 3: going 2-0. Now they head to Miami, a team that
- 30:39Speaker 3: is reeling 1-6. Do you expect the Lions to roll
- 30:44Speaker 3: in Miami?
- 30:45Speaker 1: I do. I do.
- 30:46Speaker 2: I expect the Lions to roll. I expect that offense
- 30:49Speaker 2: to roll. The defense has looked better. with Brian Branch back,
- 30:54Speaker 2: and yeah, I expect them to have their way. Our guy,
- 30:58Speaker 2: friend of the program, DJ Reed, got him an interception
- 31:01Speaker 2: last week, had a critical fourth down stop. They're playing better,
- 31:06Speaker 2: much better than they were to start this season in
- 31:08Speaker 2: a lot of ways. They're doing a great job against
- 31:10Speaker 2: the run. Jared Goff, having one of the best seasons
- 31:14Speaker 2: he's ever had, 15 touchdowns, only one interception, almost 2,000
- 31:18Speaker 2: yards passing already. Jameer Gibbs has been incredibly explosive, 773
- 31:21Speaker 2: yards on the season, eight touchdowns. And I just feel
- 31:27Speaker 2: like the Miami Dolphins don't have enough offensively to keep
- 31:31Speaker 2: up with this team.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Give me Detroit.
- 31:34Speaker 2: They're going to score over 30, so give them 34.
- 31:38Speaker 2: The Dolphins are going to put up a fight, 34
- 31:40Speaker 2: to 16.
- 31:43Speaker 3: This Lions team, uh, they look different. They look like
- 31:46Speaker 3: they did a couple of years ago. And Dan Orlovsky
- 31:48Speaker 3: said it best over the weekend. He said, this is
- 31:51Speaker 3: the best Lions coach team that, uh, it's taken place
- 31:55Speaker 3: in the last two years since Ben Johnson left last year.
- 31:58Speaker 3: It was a failed experiment with Johnny Morton as their OC. Um,
- 32:01Speaker 3: this year, Drew Petson comes over from the Arizona Cardinals
- 32:05Speaker 3: and we saw his creativity on display against the Minnesota Vikings. Um,
- 32:10Speaker 3: Coming over from Arizona, they ran a lot of two
- 32:14Speaker 3: and three personnel tight end sets. And we saw that
- 32:18Speaker 3: with their jumbo set that really demolished the Vikings in
- 32:21Speaker 3: that second half. The full house backfield with two tight
- 32:25Speaker 3: ends in front of Jameer Gibbs. Have you seen this before,
- 32:30Speaker 3: this style of play in your days?
- 32:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 32:33Speaker 2: I mean, I've seen it in my day. And last
- 32:35Speaker 2: year it became a big point. that offenses are trying
- 32:40Speaker 2: to make, especially Sean McVay. Some of the better offenses,
- 32:42Speaker 2: Ben Johnson, the 12 and 13 personnel looks where there
- 32:46Speaker 2: are two, three tight ends on the field because you
- 32:49Speaker 2: get matchups that are desirable. You get extra linebackers, extra
- 32:53Speaker 2: linebackers slash D linemen, you know, outside backers who are
- 32:57Speaker 2: really pass rushers being forced to cover tight ends consistently.
- 33:00Speaker 2: And sometimes those are the matchups you want. Those are
- 33:03Speaker 2: the matchups you want in the run game, in the
- 33:05Speaker 2: pass game. And so offenses have felt like They can
- 33:08Speaker 2: find advantages there, and they definitely found some last week,
- 33:13Speaker 2: and it's a really cool, creative way.
- 33:18Speaker 1: To find some hidden yardage.
- 33:21Speaker 3: And then finally, we saw Drew Petzing steal one from
- 33:24Speaker 3: the AFL, CFL, or Chip Kelly with the Northwestern Wildcats.
- 33:28Speaker 3: Lines up Amon Ross St. Brown, 15 yards in the
- 33:32Speaker 3: backfield on third and six, and Goff hits him perfectly
- 33:36Speaker 3: in stride in running motion. I'd never thought I'd see
- 33:39Speaker 3: the day that the CFL comes over to the NFL, Richard.
- 33:42Speaker 3: How wild was that sequence?
- 33:44Speaker 2: That was really wild. That was really wild. It was
- 33:46Speaker 2: odd to see from a fan's perspective, but it's cool.
- 33:49Speaker 2: It's cool to see innovation. A couple weeks ago, we
- 33:52Speaker 2: saw a tight end line up right behind, right between
- 33:56Speaker 2: the center and the guard off the line and running
- 34:00Speaker 2: over route. It's always great to see innovation in a
- 34:03Speaker 2: sports that's been around so long. It was cool to see,
- 34:06Speaker 2: and it's going to be great to see how many
- 34:08Speaker 2: teams adopt that.
- 34:10Speaker 1: I'm with you.
- 34:11Speaker 3: I think the Lions roll in this one. Give me
- 34:13Speaker 3: the Lions 31-14 in Miami. I look for the continued
- 34:18Speaker 3: emergence of Sione Vahke behind Jameer Gibbs, giving him a
- 34:21Speaker 3: spell in this game. And look out for this continued
- 34:24Speaker 3: progression of the Lions defense getting better and better next week.
- 34:27Speaker 3: There's a reason they're in my top five, and it's
- 34:29Speaker 3: not because I'm a homer. This team is playing very well.
- 34:33Speaker 3: Let's take it to Kansas City. Polly Market gives the
- 34:35Speaker 3: Kansas City Chiefs an 80% likelihood to knock off the
- 34:38Speaker 3: New York Jets. Kansas City lost two in a row,
- 34:42Speaker 3: fall to 6-2. Big-time losses against top-tier competition in these
- 34:47Speaker 3: last two weeks, Seattle and the Denver Broncos. Do they
- 34:50Speaker 3: rally here and knock off the Jets in Week 9?
- 34:53Speaker 1: Yes, yes.
- 34:54Speaker 2: I think they knock off the Jets. The Jets have
- 34:57Speaker 2: actually played decent football. The record doesn't say it, but uh,
- 35:01Speaker 2: Gino Smith has played pretty good football. He's got almost
- 35:05Speaker 2: 2000 yards, 12 touchdowns, only three interceptions, uh, Garrett Wilson,
- 35:10Speaker 2: 527 yards on his way to another thousand yard season.
- 35:12Speaker 2: It appears Braylon Allen, 565 yards and three touchdowns on
- 35:15Speaker 2: the season. And their defense is the fifth ranked pass
- 35:17Speaker 2: defense in the national football league, only giving up 194
- 35:20Speaker 2: yards a game. So, uh, I don't think this is
- 35:23Speaker 2: going to be just a cakewalk for the Kansas city chiefs. Um,
- 35:26Speaker 2: They're going to have to run the ball well, and
- 35:29Speaker 2: New York has not done a great job stopping the run.
- 35:31Speaker 2: So expect a lot of Kenneth Walker III, Kenneth Walker III,
- 35:35Speaker 2: and Kenneth Walker, guess what, III, going down the field.
- 35:39Speaker 2: I think they win this game in a decisive way.
- 35:43Speaker 2: I think Andy Reid gets his team together. I think
- 35:45Speaker 2: Spaggs gets this defense to heat up Geno Smith, force
- 35:49Speaker 2: some mistakes, giving me Kansas City 28-17.
- 35:55Speaker 3: Kansas City is going to roll in this one. I
- 35:57Speaker 3: think they're going to be playing mad. I would hate
- 35:59Speaker 3: to be the New York Jets in this one. Give
- 36:01Speaker 3: me Kansas City as well. And then another doozy of
- 36:05Speaker 3: a matchup in New England. The Patriots take on the
- 36:09Speaker 3: Green Bay Packers. Both teams 5-3. Green Bay desperately needs
- 36:14Speaker 3: to win to keep pace in this NFC North division.
- 36:17Speaker 3: And the Pats also need to win to keep pace
- 36:19Speaker 3: with the Bills. Who do you think has the advantage
- 36:21Speaker 3: on this one, Richard?
- 36:23Speaker 2: This is probably one of the most evenly matched up, uh,
- 36:27Speaker 2: games of the week, uh, because both teams have been
- 36:32Speaker 2: consistently inconsistent. Both teams are five and three, uh, you know,
- 36:36Speaker 2: have had games where they kind of sputtered. I, you
- 36:38Speaker 2: look at last week, the Patriots against the Miami dolphins.
- 36:42Speaker 2: It just did not look, it looks like they were
- 36:44Speaker 2: sleep at the wheel for, for the first half of
- 36:47Speaker 2: the game. And then they found their way. And then
- 36:49Speaker 2: they started to, to pull away from, uh, uh, uh,
- 36:53Speaker 2: a Miami Dolphins team that isn't as talented as they are.
- 36:56Speaker 2: But the Packers can be really explosive offensively, and so
- 36:58Speaker 2: can the Patriots. I think it's going to be a
- 37:00Speaker 2: fun offensive game to watch. Both quarterbacks, big arms. Both
- 37:04Speaker 2: quarterbacks wear number 10. They push the ball down the field.
- 37:08Speaker 2: They're playing fearless. Drake May, 1,900 yards, 15 touchdowns, 8 interceptions.
- 37:14Speaker 2: Jordan Love, 2,200 yards, 16 touchdowns, and 6 interceptions. This
- 37:18Speaker 2: is going to be a really, really cool offensive game.
- 37:21Speaker 2: But both defenses....
- 37:24Speaker 1: Are really good too.
- 37:25Speaker 2: I don't think they're as good as their offenses, but
- 37:28Speaker 2: both have pretty good pass defenses. I think the Packers
- 37:31Speaker 2: have gotten better and better and better, and Jonathan Gannon
- 37:33Speaker 2: is starting to figure out what this defense does well,
- 37:36Speaker 2: what this secondary does well. Brandon Cisse is doing a
- 37:40Speaker 2: great job. This secondary, Evan Williams, Xavier McKinney, always get
- 37:48Speaker 2: him a few picks. He's dangerous back there. So this
- 37:52Speaker 2: is a tougher one to pick. I'm trying to think.
- 37:54Speaker 2: As I'm talking, I'm trying to convince myself, who do
- 37:56Speaker 2: I want to pick? Do I want to go with
- 37:57Speaker 2: this New England defense? They're in Foxborough. Yeah, they're in Foxborough.
- 38:04Speaker 2: It's an outrun game. And the offensive line, the Packers.
- 38:17Speaker 2: Drake Maye. Give me New England in.
- 38:23Speaker 1: This one, Mitchell.
- 38:25Speaker 3: I'm going to counter you on this one, Richard. Every
- 38:27Speaker 3: time I pick against the NFC North, I feel like
- 38:29Speaker 3: I'm wrong, so I'm going to go with the Green
- 38:30Speaker 3: Bay Packers. They had a good display on Thursday Night
- 38:33Speaker 3: Football last week. You were there. You saw it firsthand
- 38:36Speaker 3: against the Carolina Panthers. That being said, the New England Patriots,
- 38:39Speaker 3: they struggled in Miami. There's something about this Packers team.
- 38:43Speaker 3: I think they know the sense of urgency that they
- 38:46Speaker 3: have to play with in this division. Give me the
- 38:49Speaker 3: Packers on the road to knock off New England by 3, 27-24.
- 38:53Speaker 3: Now we're entering the fourth quarter of the Richard Sherman podcast.
- 38:59Speaker 3: We're going to try to rattle through some of these
- 39:01Speaker 3: games quickly. Washington Commanders are hosting the LA Rams. And
- 39:06Speaker 3: I said it a couple weeks ago, look out for
- 39:08Speaker 3: this Commanders team in the NFC East. And I'm standing
- 39:12Speaker 3: by that. They displayed it on Sunday night. Against the
- 39:16Speaker 3: lowly Philadelphia Eagles, but after getting out to a 10-0 disadvantage,
- 39:21Speaker 3: they rallied with 27 straight points. Jaden Daniels is finally healthy-ish,
- 39:26Speaker 3: and he gives them an opportunity to win every time
- 39:29Speaker 3: he's on the field. they're hosting the la rams and
- 39:32Speaker 3: obviously la got things done against the chargers last week
- 39:35Speaker 3: do you think they can go across country we saw
- 39:38Speaker 3: the seattle seahawks slip up here do you think the
- 39:40Speaker 3: rams slip up on the road in washington this week.
- 39:44Speaker 2: I do not i think this rams team is playing
- 39:46Speaker 2: desperate football Obviously, I think they're a better team than
- 39:49Speaker 2: the Washington Commanders. The Washington Commanders did play well against
- 39:53Speaker 2: the Philadelphia Eagles, but the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Are without their starting quarterback, Jalen Hurts.
- 39:59Speaker 2: So it's a much different offense than they're facing against
- 40:03Speaker 2: Matthew Stafford, Puka Nakua, Kyron Williams, and everything that they bring.
- 40:07Speaker 2: I think that the Rams are feeling like this is
- 40:11Speaker 2: their window. This is their time. If they don't get
- 40:13Speaker 2: it done now, this season may be lost before Miles
- 40:16Speaker 2: Garrett even gets back. So I think, give me the
- 40:21Speaker 2: Rams in this one. And a fun game, 21-17.
- 40:26Speaker 3: And nearing the halfway point of this season, I've got
- 40:32Speaker 3: to ask the question. We've seen the NFC East and
- 40:35Speaker 3: their struggles. We've seen the NFC South and their struggles.
- 40:38Speaker 3: We've seen the NFC West and their struggles outside of
- 40:42Speaker 3: San Francisco. The only division in the NFC right now
- 40:45Speaker 3: where all teams are Above 500 is the NFC North.
- 40:49Speaker 3: Is there a world that we live in that four
- 40:51Speaker 3: teams out of the NFC North make the playoffs at
- 40:55Speaker 3: the end of the year?
- 40:57Speaker 2: I'm sure there's a world. I mean, it looks like
- 40:59Speaker 2: that would be the case if the playoffs were today.
- 41:02Speaker 2: But things always seem to shake out in a strange
- 41:05Speaker 2: way at the end of the season to not allow that.
- 41:08Speaker 1: But it's definitely a possibility.
- 41:09Speaker 3: Let's take it to Carolina. This team has been up
- 41:12Speaker 3: and down all year. They host the Denver Broncos, who
- 41:15Speaker 3: have gotten more consistent play offensively these last couple weeks.
- 41:19Speaker 3: Denver 6-2 on the road against Carolina. This smells like
- 41:24Speaker 3: a trap game to me, Richard.
- 41:26Speaker 2: What are your thoughts? It smells like a trap game.
- 41:30Speaker 2: The Carolina offense can get going. They struggled mightily against
- 41:34Speaker 2: the Green Bay Packers on Thursday night. Their defense wasn't
- 41:38Speaker 2: able to get stops. They're playing young corners. I don't know.
- 41:42Speaker 2: I don't know if this is a trap game. I
- 41:44Speaker 2: think the Denver Broncos are rolling right down. Sean Payton, again,
- 41:47Speaker 2: has this team believing. Bo Nix is finding his confidence again.
- 41:50Speaker 2: That defense becoming whole. Jonathan Cooper back into the fold.
- 41:57Speaker 2: Patrick Sertan, Riley Moss, both playing really well. I got
- 42:02Speaker 2: the Broncos in this one. It's suffocating this Carolina Panthers
- 42:06Speaker 2: offense in a big way.
- 42:08Speaker 1: Give me Denver 28 to... 15.
- 42:14Speaker 3: I'm calling the upset here. Carolina, they desperately need a win.
- 42:18Speaker 2: 3-4.
- 42:18Speaker 3: This division is wide open as it is every year
- 42:23Speaker 3: in the NFC South. Carolina comes through in somewhat of
- 42:26Speaker 3: a thriller. 22-20 Carolina upset of the week, Richard. I've
- 42:31Speaker 3: been good at calling these upsets, so let's put a
- 42:33Speaker 3: pin in this one here. And then the Falcons, another
- 42:37Speaker 3: team in this NFC South that desperately needs a win.
- 42:40Speaker 3: in Madrid against the 5-2 Cincinnati Bengals. Cincinnati Bengals have
- 42:45Speaker 3: been on a bit of an offensive tear these last
- 42:47Speaker 3: few weeks. Joe Burrow with an epic game last weekend
- 42:51Speaker 3: and a huge, I guess, come-from-behind-ish game against the Tennessee
- 42:56Speaker 3: Titans in overtime. Richard, this Cincinnati Bengals team, I was
- 43:00Speaker 3: high on them at the beginning of the year. I'm
- 43:02Speaker 3: kind of in the middle grounds with them. They're a
- 43:04Speaker 3: good team. I don't think they're a great team. Did
- 43:07Speaker 3: they get it done against Atlanta in Madrid?
- 43:10Speaker 2: Yeah, another one of those teams that are what we
- 43:12Speaker 2: call half-baked and might be even quarter-baked. Not a great defense. Guys,
- 43:19Speaker 2: Cincinnati fans, I know, I know. You guys have been
- 43:21Speaker 2: on me, man. We've made all these moves. We did
- 43:23Speaker 2: all this. We got Dexter Lawrence. We did this. 26th-ranked
- 43:27Speaker 2: total defense, 26th-ranked pass defense, and 20th against a run.
- 43:32Speaker 1: I'm sorry.
- 43:32Speaker 2: That's what the numbers say. But Joe Burrow has done
- 43:35Speaker 2: enough to keep this team afloat. He threw five touchdown
- 43:38Speaker 2: passes but three interceptions last week. He's thrown for 2,100
- 43:42Speaker 2: yards on the season. That's the reason they're in the
- 43:45Speaker 2: position they're in. T. Higgins, Jamar Chase, the weapons that
- 43:49Speaker 2: they have, Jaceki, guys like that. Chase Brown continued to
- 43:54Speaker 2: elevate this offense. I know they're going to score a
- 43:56Speaker 2: ton of points. Ken Penix in this Atlanta Falcons offense
- 44:00Speaker 2: with Bajon Robinson. Can they keep up? That's the question.
- 44:03Speaker 2: Can they keep up? Can Drake London get in the
- 44:06Speaker 2: end zone? They need to get Drake London in the
- 44:08Speaker 2: end zone. Only has one touchdown reception on the season.
- 44:11Speaker 2: Has 624 yards. They need to get him in the
- 44:13Speaker 2: end zone more. But I'm with you. I got the
- 44:16Speaker 2: Cincinnati Bengals in this one. I think Joe Burrow, he
- 44:20Speaker 2: travels well. Mitchell, he brings his weapons well. And I
- 44:24Speaker 2: think they're going to do well in this game. He's
- 44:26Speaker 2: having one of his best seasons. Give me Cincinnati in
- 44:30Speaker 2: a very close game.
- 44:32Speaker 1: 27-30.
- 44:35Speaker 3: Cincinnati's got the two-headed monster on the outside with T.
- 44:38Speaker 3: Higgins and Jamar Chase. T. Higgins with 726 yards and
- 44:42Speaker 3: four touchdowns along with 43 receptions on the season. What
- 44:46Speaker 3: an impressive showing for him. Let's talk about the Philadelphia Eagles.
- 44:50Speaker 3: They host division leader the New York Giants. I mean,
- 44:55Speaker 3: outside of the L.A. Chargers, I don't know if there's
- 44:57Speaker 3: a more disappointing season than there is in Philly right now.
- 45:02Speaker 3: philly do they bounce back and get things right against
- 45:04Speaker 3: new york this weekend.
- 45:07Speaker 2: Uh no they don't they don't it's time to start
- 45:09Speaker 2: figuring out the draft position and and who you're going
- 45:12Speaker 2: to be picking up next year out of the sec
- 45:15Speaker 2: or the ohio state university because they need help they
- 45:19Speaker 2: need help in a big way obviously the quarterbacks uh
- 45:23Speaker 2: jaylen hertz is out on ir with the blood cots
- 45:26Speaker 2: and it's yeah it's uh unknown whether they're going to
- 45:29Speaker 2: get him back or not um New York Giants are
- 45:33Speaker 2: playing better than people understand. They're playing great defense. And
- 45:38Speaker 2: their third and pass defense, their ninth in total yards.
- 45:42Speaker 2: They're not stopping the run at a high tilt. But
- 45:45Speaker 2: I think Deontay Banks is a name that people don't
- 45:49Speaker 2: talk about enough. He's a guy that's having a really
- 45:51Speaker 2: good season, a quietly good season at the corner position.
- 45:54Speaker 2: He's a big reason their pass defense is as good
- 45:56Speaker 2: as it is. They're getting after the quarterback.
- 45:59Speaker 1: J.J.
- 46:00Speaker 2: McCarthy, formerly nine, now 18, has had some hot and
- 46:05Speaker 2: cold moments, which is the story of his career. But
- 46:07Speaker 2: if he can play consistently and not turn the football over,
- 46:10Speaker 2: get Malik Nabors the ball, get Malik Nabors the ball.
- 46:14Speaker 2: Cam Scadable, these running backs, this running back by committee deal,
- 46:18Speaker 2: if they can just play solid football against this Philadelphia
- 46:22Speaker 2: Eagles defense that has just kind of cratered. And a
- 46:26Speaker 2: lot of it is because their offense hasn't been good enough,
- 46:29Speaker 2: and they're on the field a lot more than they
- 46:31Speaker 2: probably are used to. But they're 27th in yards per game,
- 46:34Speaker 2: 24th in passing yards per game, and 28th against the run.
- 46:37Speaker 2: And this is an incredibly talented defense.
- 46:39Speaker 1: Multiple All-Pros, All-Pros at all.
- 46:42Speaker 2: Three levels of the defense and two in the secondary.
- 46:45Speaker 2: And you've got these numbers. And so it's tough to watch.
- 46:49Speaker 2: If you're an Eagles fan, I'm sure– but give me
- 46:52Speaker 2: the Giants in this one, but it's a divisional game,
- 46:54Speaker 2: but I think the Giants win this one going away.
- 46:59Speaker 2: Give me the Giants 28-16.
- 47:03Speaker 3: I stand with you, the New York Giants. It's a
- 47:06Speaker 3: wild experiment that's going on with J.J.
- 47:08Speaker 1: McCarthy.
- 47:08Speaker 3: A lot of people wrote him off, including myself, once
- 47:11Speaker 3: he got traded from the Minnesota Vikings, but you see
- 47:14Speaker 3: a change in mentality with him. He's being more aggressive.
- 47:17Speaker 3: He's feeding the ball downfield to his top targets, that
- 47:20Speaker 3: being Malik Neighbors. What a comeback year for him off
- 47:23Speaker 3: the ACL injury. I like this Giants team to win
- 47:27Speaker 3: this game and stay competitive in this division. It's crazy
- 47:30Speaker 3: to think with a win, they're 5-2-1, and they've got
- 47:33Speaker 3: a stranglehold on this division midway through the season. Let's
- 47:37Speaker 3: take it to Indy. The team is an absolute free fall, but...
- 47:41Speaker 3: The team they are hosting has had a very disappointing season.
- 47:44Speaker 3: That is the Dallas Cowboys. Polymarket gives Dallas a 70%
- 47:48Speaker 3: chance of winning this game on the road in Indy.
- 47:52Speaker 1: I got to start.
- 47:53Speaker 3: I got to bring Coach Sherman out here, Richard. If
- 47:55Speaker 3: you're the coach of this, if you're the DC of
- 47:58Speaker 3: these Dallas Cowboys, what are you saying to this defense
- 48:01Speaker 3: to try to hype them up going into Indy?
- 48:04Speaker 1: Fellas, it's now or never. It's now or never.
- 48:10Speaker 2: Who do you want to be this season? Do you
- 48:14Speaker 2: want to be the team vacationing in Cabo, San Lucas,
- 48:19Speaker 2: in January? Or do you want to be the team
- 48:23Speaker 2: that's figuring out who we're playing in January? That's all
- 48:27Speaker 2: it comes down to. We're going to separate the men
- 48:31Speaker 2: from the boys, the guys that love the game, the
- 48:35Speaker 2: guys that hate to lose, from the guys that are
- 48:38Speaker 2: just out here collecting checks. Which one are you going
- 48:41Speaker 2: to be today?
- 48:42Speaker 1: Huh? Huh? Show up.
- 48:45Speaker 2: And then you go and break it down, Mitchell. Then
- 48:47Speaker 2: you go and break it down. You can't ask too much.
- 48:49Speaker 2: I can't pull it.
- 48:50Speaker 1: Up out of you.
- 48:50Speaker 2: These are pros. You got to be a pros pro today.
- 48:53Speaker 2: Either you got it or you don't. The Indianapolis Colts
- 48:56Speaker 2: have given up on the season. They traded their all-pro guard.
- 49:00Speaker 2: They traded their best defensive player into Forrest Buckner. They're
- 49:04Speaker 2: ready to get rid of their running back, Jonathan Taylor.
- 49:07Speaker 2: And if they can find the right price, And if
- 49:10Speaker 2: you lose this game, if you lose this game.
- 49:16Speaker 1: I don't know what Jerry is going to do. I don't.
- 49:20Speaker 1: I don't.
- 49:20Speaker 2: But I just would assume there are going to be changes.
- 49:23Speaker 2: I don't know what Jerry is going to do, but
- 49:25Speaker 2: I would assume there are going to be changes, even
- 49:27Speaker 2: if you win this game. You get to the end
- 49:30Speaker 2: of the season and they aren't in those playoffs again,
- 49:32Speaker 2: I can't even do my divisional undone, divisional undone. There
- 49:36Speaker 2: are going to be changes. Like, the staff has to change.
- 49:40Speaker 2: Who on the staff has to change? That's not my,
- 49:42Speaker 2: that's not on me.
- 49:44Speaker 1: But changes.
- 49:47Speaker 3: There could be personnel changes as well. I mean, Dak
- 49:50Speaker 3: Prescott has had his long runway with this team, and
- 49:53Speaker 3: he's certainly proven himself. This team's got a bunch of
- 49:57Speaker 3: big names, but they just do not seem to come
- 49:59Speaker 3: together to form a unified competitive team. What changes would
- 50:04Speaker 3: you make with Dallas to make this team more competitive?
- 50:08Speaker 2: Well, Mitchell, if you're looking at the stats defensively, yards
- 50:12Speaker 2: per game, worse than the league. Run defense, worse than
- 50:16Speaker 2: the league. Fast defense, 22nd. It's going to start with
- 50:22Speaker 2: the defensive side of the football. And again, you're talking
- 50:24Speaker 2: about the big names. They got Quentin Williams, Deron Bland,
- 50:27Speaker 2: that's a pick six king. They got Rashawn Gary. They
- 50:32Speaker 2: got DeMarvion Overshawn. They got Caleb Downs, who they took
- 50:35Speaker 2: in the first round out of the Ohio State University.
- 50:38Speaker 2: They got people in places where you would expect success
- 50:41Speaker 2: to be. But it's not there. It's big names, little
- 50:47Speaker 2: games right now. And I don't understand that. And I
- 50:49Speaker 2: don't understand why these guys aren't playing at the level
- 50:53Speaker 2: that you're used to them playing. And maybe it's Christian Parker.
- 50:56Speaker 2: Maybe it's him. Maybe he can't get the most out
- 50:58Speaker 2: of these guys. Maybe Everything that they did in Philadelphia
- 51:02Speaker 2: had more to do with Vic Fangio than him. He
- 51:05Speaker 2: came in with very high lofty expectations. But if something
- 51:08Speaker 2: doesn't change for this very talented defense, I think he's
- 51:12Speaker 2: going to be on the outside looking in. They may
- 51:15Speaker 2: have to make changes. Maybe they don't get rid of
- 51:17Speaker 2: him in totality, but they demote him into a different position.
- 51:20Speaker 2: But that's what I would expect to happen. This defense
- 51:24Speaker 2: isn't playing good enough this season to justify keeping him.
- 51:29Speaker 2: And Dak Prescott, 2,000 yards, 14 touchdowns, five interceptions, C.D. Lamb,
- 51:34Speaker 2: 60 grabs, 709 yards, six touchdowns. Javante Williams, the offense
- 51:38Speaker 2: is doing what they're supposed to be doing. They do
- 51:40Speaker 2: what you expect a Dallas Cowboys offensive team to do.
- 51:44Speaker 2: Their offensive line is solid and good at times. But
- 51:49Speaker 2: I just feel like if Jonathan Taylor, if they don't
- 51:52Speaker 2: hold him out of this game, he's going to have
- 51:54Speaker 2: a big game.
- 51:56Speaker 1: But Give me the.
- 51:58Speaker 2: Cowboys just because the Colts have given up, but begrudgingly, Mitchell, begrudgingly,
- 52:02Speaker 2: because the Cowboys haven't given up in totality, but sometimes
- 52:07Speaker 2: it looks that way.
- 52:09Speaker 1: Give me the Cowboys. 17-20.
- 52:18Speaker 3: Okay, low-scoring Cowboys. I'll join you with the Cowboys. If
- 52:21Speaker 3: they can't get it right this week, I don't know
- 52:23Speaker 3: when they're going to be able to. Let's take it
- 52:26Speaker 3: to New Orleans. They're hosting the Cleveland Browns. The Browns,
- 52:29Speaker 3: fresh off a loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers, are 5-3.
- 52:33Speaker 3: Every time I pick the Saints, Richard, I feel like
- 52:35Speaker 3: I lose. So I'm going with Cleveland in this one.
- 52:39Speaker 3: Do you think Cleveland can bounce back after losing to
- 52:42Speaker 3: Division 4 in an emotional loss against the Pittsburgh Steelers?
- 52:46Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah. Give me the Browns. Give me the Browns
- 52:48Speaker 1: in this one.
- 52:49Speaker 2: I like the Saints and Tyler Shuck and Chris Olave
- 52:53Speaker 2: and what they've been able to do uh offensively but
- 52:56Speaker 2: they don't run the ball very well uh and and
- 52:59Speaker 2: the cleveland browns defense is great against the pass and
- 53:02Speaker 2: you know they got some playmakers out there that can
- 53:05Speaker 2: really really get after it so i i like the
- 53:07Speaker 2: cleveland browns i like their receiving core i think deshaun
- 53:13Speaker 2: watson is starting to find himself a little bit you
- 53:15Speaker 2: know he hasn't gotten in the end zone probably as
- 53:17Speaker 2: much as he would like and this team would like
- 53:19Speaker 2: but harold fanning is a guy quinshawn judkins is a
- 53:23Speaker 2: guy uh Boston's a guy. So I got the Browns
- 53:28Speaker 2: in this one, even though Polymark is disagreeing with me.
- 53:32Speaker 3: I'm surprised with that as well. Harold Fannin has come
- 53:35Speaker 3: on of late these last couple weeks. Deshaun's been targeting
- 53:37Speaker 3: him like crazy. I expect more of the same from
- 53:39Speaker 3: the young tight end. And then finally, LA Chargers, 0-7,
- 53:44Speaker 3: taking on the Houston Texans. Same question, new week. Is
- 53:49Speaker 3: this the week the LA Chargers put a 1 in
- 53:51Speaker 3: the win column?
- 53:54Speaker 2: I don't think so. I don't think C.J. Stroud and
- 53:56Speaker 2: this Houston Texans team is going to allow themselves to
- 54:02Speaker 2: be the game that the Chargers figure it out. It's
- 54:05Speaker 2: getting to be that time for the L.A. Chargers where
- 54:09Speaker 2: decisions are going to have to be made. Justin Herbert,
- 54:14Speaker 2: 1,300 yards on the season, five touchdowns, ten interceptions. Starting
- 54:18Speaker 2: to get to that time where decisions are going to
- 54:21Speaker 2: have to be made. The offensive line has not played
- 54:24Speaker 2: well enough for the Chargers. They got a lot invested
- 54:28Speaker 2: in that offensive line. The defense hasn't played well enough
- 54:30Speaker 2: for the Chargers. Give me Houston in this game. Getting
- 54:36Speaker 2: after Justin Herbert in a big way. Everybody's gotten after
- 54:40Speaker 2: Justin Herbert, but these guys have real guys that could
- 54:43Speaker 2: get after him regardless of who you have on the
- 54:46Speaker 2: offensive line. And so I expect the Houston Texans to
- 54:49Speaker 2: run away with this game. A defensive effort. force some turnovers,
- 54:53Speaker 2: some fumbles, give their offense a short field. CJ Stroud,
- 54:59Speaker 2: 1,800 yards, 11 touchdowns, one interception on the season.
- 55:05Speaker 1: Give me Houston, 21-10.
- 55:09Speaker 3: It's going to be very difficult for me to pick
- 55:12Speaker 3: in favor of the Chargers for the rest of the season.
- 55:14Speaker 3: They've displayed nothing but lifeless football. Give me the Texans
- 55:18Speaker 3: as well. I expect them to dominate this game. I'm
- 55:21Speaker 3: going to go Let's go 27-13. All right, Richard, before
- 55:27Speaker 3: we go, it's time to revisit some of your predictions
- 55:30Speaker 3: at the beginning of the year. Midway through the season,
- 55:32Speaker 3: who is your most valuable player in the NFL?
- 55:36Speaker 2: Most valuable player in the NFL, we're going to start
- 55:39Speaker 2: with the number one team in my power rankings, Brock Purdy.
- 55:42Speaker 2: Missing his top five receivers, continues to keep this team afloat,
- 55:47Speaker 2: continues to get this offense forward. functioning at a high level.
- 55:52Speaker 2: I know there were a lot of turnovers last week
- 55:54Speaker 2: against the Atlanta Falcons, but that didn't change my pick.
- 55:59Speaker 3: How about offensive player of the year? We've got a
- 56:01Speaker 3: lot of non-quarterbacks balling out, including JSN and K-9. Who
- 56:05Speaker 3: do you like for offensive player of the year?
- 56:08Speaker 2: JSN, K-9, Jameer Gibbs, Jamar Chase. There's a lot of
- 56:12Speaker 2: ways you could go with this, but I'm going with
- 56:14Speaker 2: Jackson Smith and Jigba. He's still on record pace. having
- 56:18Speaker 2: a great season as the number one option, the highest
- 56:21Speaker 2: usage percentage in the National Football League. They know he's
- 56:25Speaker 2: getting the ball, and they just cannot seem to stop him.
- 56:28Speaker 3: It's hard to debate that. JSN is certainly one of
- 56:31Speaker 3: a kind. Defensive player of the year.
- 56:34Speaker 2: Well, this one could go to a couple guys. It
- 56:36Speaker 2: could go to Will Anderson out in Houston. You know,
- 56:39Speaker 2: the team isn't having a great season, but he's having
- 56:41Speaker 2: a great season. But give me T.J. Watt in Pittsburgh.
- 56:44Speaker 2: They're having a better season. He's always impactful. he's a
- 56:48Speaker 2: big reason why they're 5-2.
- 56:51Speaker 3: What that defense has done for Pittsburgh, holding them at
- 56:55Speaker 3: bay when that offense struggles, I can totally see it
- 56:57Speaker 3: with T.J. Watt as well. This is a little bit
- 57:00Speaker 3: more tricky. Offensive rookie of the year.
- 57:04Speaker 1: Give me Denzel Boston out in Cleveland.
- 57:07Speaker 2: He's a guy that's been showing up when Deshaun Watson's
- 57:10Speaker 2: favorite targets.
- 57:11Speaker 1: He's been having a really, really good rookie season.
- 57:16Speaker 3: I'm going to go Jonah Coleman here, Richard. I called
- 57:19Speaker 3: it last week. I think he's going to be the
- 57:21Speaker 3: guy in Denver going forward. We've still got enough season
- 57:23Speaker 3: left for him to put up some good stats. Give
- 57:26Speaker 3: me Jonah Coleman as the dark horse back end of
- 57:30Speaker 3: the season winner of this Offensive Rookie of the Year.
- 57:33Speaker 3: And then finally, Defensive Rookie of the Year.
- 57:36Speaker 2: Yeah, give me David Bailey. Stanford guy. Now I'm Texas
- 57:40Speaker 2: Tech at the end, but Stanford guy. Give me David Bailey.
- 57:44Speaker 3: He's had an outstanding first half of the season for
- 57:47Speaker 3: the New York Jets. Comeback player of the year. A
- 57:49Speaker 3: lot of guys coming back from injury, including Patrick Mahomes,
- 57:52Speaker 3: Malik Neighbors, Kyler Murray, your boy Fred Warner. Who stands out?
- 57:56Speaker 2: Well, it's going to be Patrick Mahomes. If the quarterback's
- 57:59Speaker 2: involved in it, he's one of the best quarterbacks in
- 58:01Speaker 2: the National Football League. If he's in the awards race
- 58:03Speaker 2: and there aren't any other big-name quarterbacks, he's probably going
- 58:06Speaker 2: to win it. Give me Patrick Mahomes.
- 58:09Speaker 3: Coach of the year. Is it finally... Kyle Shanahan's time.
- 58:14Speaker 2: No, no, it's not, but I'm going to give it
- 58:16Speaker 2: to him. Mid-season, Kyle Shanahan. I don't think they're going
- 58:19Speaker 2: to give it to him regardless of what the team does.
- 58:21Speaker 2: They could be number one seed. They've been number one
- 58:23Speaker 2: seed a few times. They're not going to give it
- 58:25Speaker 2: to him. I'd expect them to really give it to
- 58:27Speaker 2: Ben Johnson or Joe Brady, maybe in Buffalo, but Kyle
- 58:32Speaker 2: Shanahan for me.
- 58:35Speaker 3: What Kyle Shanahan has done in terms of keeping this
- 58:38Speaker 3: team afloat and competitive, battling all these injuries that they've had,
- 58:41Speaker 3: I Again, I can totally see it. Assistant Coach of
- 58:45Speaker 3: the Year.
- 58:46Speaker 2: It's got to be Brian Flores in Minnesota. The most
- 58:49Speaker 2: impactful assistant, I think, this year. You always hear about
- 58:52Speaker 2: the head coach calling plays for a lot of these teams,
- 58:55Speaker 2: and you can't pick those guys.
- 58:57Speaker 1: But give me Brian Flores.
- 58:59Speaker 2: His defense is one of the best in the league,
- 59:00Speaker 2: and he's a big reason Minnesota's 6-1.
- 59:04Speaker 3: Richard, it is always a pleasure sitting down with you
- 59:07Speaker 3: midweek as we break down the upcoming games. this concludes
- 59:11Speaker 3: our week nine preview i will let you sign us
