- 0:20Speaker 5: this Wednesday afternoon. It is the 26th of August, 2026.

- 0:35Speaker 3: ReBurger.
- 0:37Speaker 5: Yeah, great stuff. Speaking of which, God, you're looking great
- 0:40Speaker 5: at the moment. Moki, how's life?
- 0:42Speaker 6: I'm going pretty grousy, you mad dog, you sick son
- 0:45Speaker 6: of a B. I guess I'm just looking good because
- 0:48Speaker 6: we had a video go up on the Hauraki Big
- 0:50Speaker 6: Show Instagram page last night and it really tickled me.
- 0:52Speaker 1: Yes.
- 0:53Speaker 6: So I guess I'm still glowing after that. If you
- 0:55Speaker 6: haven't seen it, get along and catch that. It was
- 0:57Speaker 6: all about celebrating the birthday boy, Chris Key.
- 0:59Speaker 5: Yeah, man, it was a really special day. Really special day.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Yeah, and the amount of guests you guys... sort of
- 1:05Speaker 1: organised to come and say g'day on my birthday. And
- 1:08Speaker 1: so many actors and whatnot from some of my favourite shows.
- 1:11Speaker 1: And over the last sort of 30 years. Yeah. Unreal.
- 1:15Speaker 1: But you're worth it, Keezy. You are worth it.
- 1:17Speaker 5: Can I say it was a who's who of New
- 1:19Speaker 5: Zealand television? Yes. Yeah, it was. Tell you what, Keezy.
- 1:24Speaker 5: What's up, man? You're looking real sharp today, man. In fact,
- 1:28Speaker 5: when you came in, old Pugzarn said, oh, you've got
- 1:30Speaker 5: a new do going on there, Keezy. But you hadn't.
- 1:33Speaker 5: You'd just boofed it up a bit.
- 1:34Speaker 1: Well, no, I hadn't.
- 1:34Speaker 5: It was just normal. A really smart kind of lightweight jacket,
- 1:38Speaker 5: a crisp. Tight-fitting white T-shirt. It's very baggy. You're looking
- 1:43Speaker 5: real good, man. How's life? Are your eyes all good?
- 1:45Speaker 1: Yeah, good. Thanks, man. I've got a date tonight, fellas.
- 1:48Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 1:48Speaker 1: Yes, boy. With one of my mates going to the movies. Oh, yeah?
- 1:51Speaker 1: Finally going to see The Odyssey, so I'm excited about that.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Thought I'd, you know, put on something nice.
- 1:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, good.
- 1:56Speaker 1: Did you? But, yeah, no, life is good. Second to
- 1:59Speaker 1: last day of the goats.
- 2:00Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:00Speaker 1: That's sad, isn't it? Wow. It's very sad, Mogi, but
- 2:03Speaker 1: tomorrow's the big day, and I'm fired up for it. Actually, oh, Jase,
- 2:07Speaker 1: how are you?
- 2:08Speaker 5: Well, thanks for asking.
- 2:09Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff.
- 2:14Speaker 2: This is The Goat, the countdown for real music connoisseurs.
- 2:18Speaker 1: Now, how are you, though? You all good?
- 2:19Speaker 5: I'm a little bit shaken, actually, fellas. Yeah. I'm very
- 2:22Speaker 5: grateful to be here, I'll be honest with you. Why
- 2:26Speaker 5: is that? I just had something pretty full on and
- 2:28Speaker 5: intense happen to me.
- 2:29Speaker 1: Well, we'll talk about that next day. But for now,
- 2:31Speaker 1: we're going to get back to the countdown. Yeah, shall we?
- 2:33Speaker 5: Well, I mean, it was pretty intense.
- 2:36Speaker 1: Hey, speaking of intense.
- 2:37Speaker 5: You know, I would say almost life changing.
- 2:40Speaker 1: Yeah, right.
- 2:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 2:41Speaker 1: We'll talk about that next, Jase. In the meantime, a
- 2:43Speaker 1: song that has dropped 90 places in the countdown.
- 2:47Speaker 3: Wow.
- 2:47Speaker 1: And was in the top 30 last year.
- 2:49Speaker 5: You're joking.
- 2:50Speaker 1: That's right. From Guns N' Roses.
- 2:53Speaker 7: The Goat, proof that Hauraki listeners have excellent taste.
- 2:57Speaker 3: 121, Guns N' Roses, Sweet Child of Mine.
- 3:02Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show, weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 3:06Speaker 5: Beastie Boys there on the Goat Countdown. You're listening to
- 3:09Speaker 5: Radio Hauraki, by the way, coming in at 120. Where
- 3:12Speaker 5: was that last year? Do we know, Keezy?
- 3:14Speaker 1: That was number 30. That's also dropped back. Wow. Yeah,
- 3:17Speaker 1: so pretty crazy.
- 3:17Speaker 5: That's a massive drop.
- 3:19Speaker 1: That's a huge drop. That's amazing, isn't it?
- 3:22Speaker 5: Fellas... I'm a little bit shaken up.
- 3:28Speaker 1: I can tell.
- 3:29Speaker 5: Could you?
- 3:30Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 3:31Speaker 1: Like you're in shock or something.
- 3:33Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Just something happened to me today, and
- 3:40Speaker 5: in a weird kind of way, it's changed my life.
- 3:43Speaker 5: It's made me realize how fragile we are.
- 3:50Speaker 6: Was it when, because I saw you coming in today,
- 3:52Speaker 6: and there was that homeless guy that sort of got
- 3:54Speaker 6: on all fours behind you, and another homeless guy pushed
- 3:57Speaker 6: you over him?
- 3:58Speaker 1: Oh, that's classic.
- 4:00Speaker 5: I know, Andy's always doing that. But it wasn't that. But,
- 4:04Speaker 5: I mean, here's the point, though, Mogi. I wouldn't have
- 4:06Speaker 5: fallen over him, but I was so shaken up by
- 4:08Speaker 5: what had happened. He got me that time, the bastard.
- 4:13Speaker 5: But I'm going to cut to the chase because it
- 4:15Speaker 5: is a really serious matter. I got hit by a bus.
- 4:18Speaker 3: Wow.
- 4:19Speaker 5: What? Yeah, man.
- 4:21Speaker 1: What, like walking to work or something?
- 4:23Speaker 5: I'm an absolute backbone for even being here today, to
- 4:26Speaker 5: be honest with you.
- 4:26Speaker 1: 100%.
- 4:29Speaker 5: So, yeah, it's... When did that happen? About midday.
- 4:33Speaker 1: Right.
- 4:34Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 4:35Speaker 5: And, you know, it's... Afterwards, I was like, I think
- 4:39Speaker 5: because I was in shock, I was kind of okay,
- 4:41Speaker 5: but I think it's just hit me, you know. Oh,
- 4:43Speaker 5: my God, I got hit by a bus.
- 4:45Speaker 1: Yeah. I can see what you mean about being life-changing. Like,
- 4:48Speaker 1: holy cow, it could have been all over.
- 4:50Speaker 5: Yeah, well, you've often voiced concern about me and the
- 4:54Speaker 5: CBD there, Keezy, you know.
- 4:55Speaker 1: Yeah, about you doing anything, really.
- 4:57Speaker 5: Going for walks and stuff. Because the reality is I'm
- 5:00Speaker 5: thinking a lot about life at the moment.
- 5:02Speaker 3: Right.
- 5:02Speaker 5: You know, and I've got my skull candies on.
- 5:04Speaker 1: Your headphones, yeah. That blocks out a lot.
- 5:07Speaker 5: And I, you know, I'm listening to the tunes. Okay.
- 5:20Speaker 5: But anyway, so I was at the lights.
- 5:22Speaker 1: Connor was a bus to hit him at this point.
- 5:25Speaker 5: I was at the lights. And obviously it was red,
- 5:29Speaker 5: so I didn't cross.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Oh, smart.
- 5:30Speaker 3: Yeah, smart. Yeah.
- 5:33Speaker 5: And there was a bus at the lights, waiting for
- 5:35Speaker 5: the lights as well. Oh, God. Yeah, yeah. And I'm,
- 5:38Speaker 5: you know, got my skull candies, and I'm not really
- 5:40Speaker 5: paying attention. You know, I'm just looking at the people around. Doosh, doosh, do-do-do-doosh, doosh, doosh. Doosh, doosh, do-do-do-doosh.
- 5:56Speaker 5: And then anyway, I hear the buzzer.
- 6:01Speaker 1: Eeeeee. Oh, the buzzer for crossing.
- 6:07Speaker 5: The crossing buzzer, you know.
- 6:09Speaker 1: Isn't it more of a... To be honest, in town
- 6:12Speaker 1: it's more of a..
- 6:16Speaker 5: Well, no, it's not staccato. It's one constant. It's more
- 6:18Speaker 5: like a... And I'm like, okay, let's go. Do you
- 6:27Speaker 5: say that out loud? Yeah, I do. Okay, let's go.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Then everyone else was like, what? Sorry, I wasn't talking
- 6:34Speaker 1: to you.
- 6:35Speaker 5: And then it happened, man. I walked and just got
- 6:42Speaker 5: totally smashed by the bus. Wow.
- 6:44Speaker 1: How far did it smash you?
- 6:46Speaker 5: Pardon?
- 6:46Speaker 1: Did it knock you across the pavement? What happened? How
- 6:48Speaker 1: far did you go?
- 6:49Speaker 5: Well, no. Because what actually happened was, Keezy, the crossing
- 6:55Speaker 5: was for the other side of the road. The bus
- 6:57Speaker 5: hadn't moved. I just walked into the side of it.
- 6:59Speaker 5: Bloody hell it hurt.
- 7:04Speaker 1: So you walked into the side of a bus, a
- 7:05Speaker 1: parked bus.
- 7:06Speaker 5: God, I felt like a real tool too because I
- 7:08Speaker 5: was like, here we go, ba-bang, into the side of
- 7:12Speaker 5: the bus. Gentlemen, this is..
- 7:17Speaker 3: The Goat.
- 7:18Speaker 5: Democracy Manifest.
- 7:20Speaker 3: It's like democracy, but with better music. On Radio Hauraki. 119. Metallica,
- 7:25Speaker 3: for whom the bell tolls.
- 7:31Speaker 2: The Hauraki Beat Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 7:34Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 7:38Speaker 5: What an epic 118 Led Zeppelin there, Kashmir fellas.
- 7:42Speaker 1: Massive tune from Led Zeppelin. That's also dropped down quite
- 7:45Speaker 1: a lot from the Goat Countdown. That was originally inside
- 7:47Speaker 1: the top 50.
- 7:48Speaker 5: Wow.
- 7:48Speaker 1: And now it's at 118. What's happening to people?
- 7:53Speaker 3: I know.
- 7:53Speaker 1: Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. Oh, do you?
- 7:55Speaker 1: I do.
- 7:57Speaker 5: I've got a bone to pick.
- 7:59Speaker 1: Is that why Pugs is in the studio?
- 8:00Speaker 5: Ooh, it's Pugs time.
- 8:05Speaker 1: Afternoon, fellas. Yes. Thanks for having me.
- 8:07Speaker 5: Yes, it is. Hello, James. Cheers.
- 8:11Speaker 1: Hello, Jim. Oh, big Jim.
- 8:13Speaker 6: Last night I had a dream. Now, this is a 100%
- 8:18Speaker 6: true story. And in that dream, there was a fair
- 8:23Speaker 6: bit going on, actually. It was a busy, busy night.
- 8:25Speaker 1: Lucid. But one of the things that was happening was
- 8:29Speaker 1: my wife and you pugs were giving each other hickeys.
- 8:35Speaker 5: Pugs?
- 8:36Speaker 3: What?
- 8:36Speaker 1: Without a word of a lie.
- 8:38Speaker 5: Yeah, I can see that.
- 8:40Speaker 6: And that was sort of, it was like no big deal.
- 8:43Speaker 6: But for me in the dream, I was like, I
- 8:45Speaker 6: don't think I'm cool with this.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Yeah. I'm not cool with that and I'm not you.
- 8:49Speaker 1: And then I woke up and I'm still not cool
- 8:51Speaker 1: with it.
- 8:52Speaker 5: Oh.
- 8:53Speaker 1: So... I just want to bring that up with you.
- 8:55Speaker 6: And because the other thing that's going on is we've
- 8:57Speaker 6: got come down with the fellas this Sunday at Hoiti
- 9:00Speaker 6: J's place. We're all going there ourselves and our partners.
- 9:04Speaker 6: And I'm a little bit worried that at some point
- 9:07Speaker 6: you two, yourself and my wife, are just going to
- 9:10Speaker 6: start giving each other hickeys again. Because I made it
- 9:13Speaker 6: quite clear last night that I didn't like it. And
- 9:17Speaker 6: I didn't feel like the message was getting through, to
- 9:19Speaker 6: be honest with you.
- 9:20Speaker 1: So you said your piece during the dreams.
- 9:23Speaker 5: You had a word, did you? Yeah, I did.
- 9:25Speaker 1: Oh, okay.
- 9:25Speaker 7: Well, first of all, thank you for your honesty both
- 9:28Speaker 7: in the dream and now for bringing it to me, Mogi.
- 9:31Speaker 1: Really appreciate that. But I need to know what. Well,
- 9:33Speaker 1: you guys are very fellow.
- 9:34Speaker 5: Well, no. I mean, we all know that Pug's son
- 9:39Speaker 5: oozes sexuality.
- 9:41Speaker 1: Amongst other things.
- 9:43Speaker 5: He's an oozer.
- 9:45Speaker 1: The oozer. And a weeper.
- 9:46Speaker 5: And a weeper. I want to be honest with you,
- 9:51Speaker 5: you know, in terms of the come dine with the
- 9:53Speaker 5: fellas scenario, I'm okay with it. And if people want
- 9:57Speaker 5: to hook into each other at my place, that's all G.
- 10:00Speaker 7: So you're okay if Mogi, as said in his dream,
- 10:05Speaker 7: Mogi's wife and me are giving each other what?
- 10:08Speaker 1: You're getting bogged down. It's pretty straightforward. It's straightforward. Don't
- 10:12Speaker 1: give Mogi's wife hickeys, man. And also, don't not give
- 10:17Speaker 1: my wife hickeys either. Well, hang on. What does that mean?
- 10:19Speaker 6: Well, it means you can't just start sucking on my
- 10:21Speaker 6: wife's neck and then go, okay, Moga is quite clear,
- 10:23Speaker 6: I can't.
- 10:24Speaker 1: Give her hickeys, but I can still suck on her neck.
- 10:26Speaker 1: That part of it's not cool either.
- 10:28Speaker 5: No.
- 10:29Speaker 1: What?
- 10:29Speaker 3: No.
- 10:30Speaker 5: And if you are going to do this, well, as
- 10:34Speaker 5: I say, fill your boots if that's what's happening, but
- 10:37Speaker 5: can you do it after the sauna? Because, you know.
- 10:42Speaker 1: Are you doing a sauna at your come-dine with me?
- 10:44Speaker 5: Yes, did I not say that? No. Oh. Well, hang on.
- 10:48Speaker 1: It's pretty straightforward in my opinion. Pugs, don't give Mogi's
- 10:52Speaker 1: wife hickeys.
- 10:53Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 10:53Speaker 5: Okay.
- 10:54Speaker 6: Now, I'm perfectly fine with you giving Keezy a hickey
- 10:59Speaker 6: or Keezy's missus.
- 11:00Speaker 3: Oh.
- 11:01Speaker 1: In fact, I quite like that.
- 11:02Speaker 5: Chris? Well, hang on.
- 11:04Speaker 1: No, to be honest, I prefer you didn't give me
- 11:06Speaker 1: a hickey. Oh, okay. But you're fine with just general necking? Oh, yeah,
- 11:11Speaker 1: that's all G.
- 11:11Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 11:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 11:18Speaker 5: The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown.
- 11:22Speaker 1: Music snobbery with financial benefits.
- 11:26Speaker 5: Yes, indeed, fellas, another hundred bucks to give away. Let's
- 11:29Speaker 5: get straight into it, shall we? G'day, Blake, you mad bastard.
- 11:32Speaker 5: How's life? Blake?
- 11:34Speaker 3: Blake? Blake?
- 11:39Speaker 5: Here he is. Geez, what happened there, mate?
- 11:43Speaker 1: Well, priorities, man. Yeah.
- 11:48Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 11:49Speaker 1: Yeah, what do you do for a crust, sicko?
- 11:52Speaker 3: Yeah, backbone.
- 11:55Speaker 5: Massive backbone. Good stuff, man. Massive backbone.
- 11:58Speaker 6: I tell you what, you've won yourself $ 100, man. That
- 12:01Speaker 6: means you can buy your own car park, brother.
- 12:04Speaker 2: Oh, how good. Yeah, mate.
- 12:05Speaker 5: Good on you.
- 12:06Speaker 1: Where are you parking, Blake? What are you doing? Going
- 12:08Speaker 1: out for dinner or something, man?
- 12:10Speaker 5: No, I'm just on the way home from work and
- 12:12Speaker 5: going to get a haircut, you know? Oh, yeah.
- 12:14Speaker 6: What are you going with? Short back and sides?
- 12:17Speaker 5: Oh, I was just going to go the old reverse skullet,
- 12:20Speaker 5: you know?
- 12:20Speaker 1: Yeah, that's a one.
- 12:21Speaker 5: Well, that $ 100, mate, why don't you go tonight as well,
- 12:24Speaker 5: go and buy yourself some new suits?
- 12:26Speaker 2: Ooh, yeah.
- 12:28Speaker 1: You know any good places, Hoity Joe?
- 12:30Speaker 5: Oh, whereabouts are you, Christchurch?
- 12:32Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 12:33Speaker 3: No.
- 12:33Speaker 1: No, there's none down there. Hey, Blake, you hold the line, brother,
- 12:36Speaker 1: and I'll pug some. We'll give you a right good
- 12:38Speaker 1: sing too, all right? No worries.
- 12:40Speaker 5: Cheers, fellas. Enjoy that, mate.
- 12:42Speaker 1: Enjoy that, mate. 100 bucks cash, just like that. Another
- 12:44Speaker 1: 100 to win after 5 o'clock, fellas. And we have
- 12:47Speaker 1: got to rip straight back into this countdown because today
- 12:49Speaker 1: is jam-packed.
- 12:50Speaker 5: Jam-packed, baby. Yeah, it really, it truly is, mate.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Now, this next song, last year, was inside the top 100.
- 12:56Speaker 1: In fact, it was number 62. It's fallen outside. It's
- 12:59Speaker 1: a damn shame because it is a true slice of Kiwiana.
- 13:02Speaker 2: The Goat.
- 13:04Speaker 3: The countdown for real music connoisseurs. 116 Shi'at Pacifier 3.
- 13:10Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 13:14Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:18Speaker 5: Yes, indeed. Number 115 on the goat count down there.
- 13:21Speaker 5: Highway to hell, fellas.
- 13:23Speaker 1: That one has dropped a long way, guys. It was
- 13:26Speaker 1: last year's song number 40.
- 13:29Speaker 3: Wow.
- 13:30Speaker 1: No, it wasn't. That's a lie. I've looked at the
- 13:31Speaker 1: wrong number. Okay.
- 13:32Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 13:33Speaker 1: Good job. It's actually gone up a bit.
- 13:35Speaker 5: Hey, fellas, do you want to talk a bit of TV?
- 13:37Speaker 1: Okay.
- 13:37Speaker 3: Okay.
- 13:39Speaker 5: What's on the Telly with Mike Minogue.
- 13:46Speaker 1: Yeah!
- 13:47Speaker 5: Yes.
- 13:48Speaker 6: Last night I was having a lovely just a chat
- 13:50Speaker 6: with my family. My brother-in-law's turned up and so we
- 13:54Speaker 6: had to have a little bit of a yarn, et cetera,
- 13:56Speaker 6: et cetera. And he told me one interesting thing, fellas,
- 14:00Speaker 6: if you'd like to know. It's got nothing to do
- 14:02Speaker 6: with TV. He was on the same flight as DWZ.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Dylan Watanazil, isn't he?
- 14:07Speaker 6: Who had his operation for his busted collarbone over in
- 14:10Speaker 6: Sydney was on the same flight as him. He didn't
- 14:12Speaker 6: want to say anything to him, but they ran into
- 14:14Speaker 6: each other at the luggage carousel and he said, oh,
- 14:17Speaker 6: bad luck.
- 14:17Speaker 1: He said, I've just had an operation. He said, don't worry, brother.
- 14:21Speaker 1: I'll be back in time for the finals.
- 14:23Speaker 3: Wow.
- 14:23Speaker 1: So a little bit of an inside scoop there from
- 14:26Speaker 1: old Mogi. That's good stuff, man. What about you, Jase?
- 14:28Speaker 1: Who did you see on a flight?
- 14:31Speaker 5: Um, no one.
- 14:33Speaker 3: Oh.
- 14:34Speaker 5: I watched a movie last night on Samsung TV called
- 14:38Speaker 5: Swimming Upstream. And I think it's based on a true story.
- 14:44Speaker 5: And it's the classic story of, well, I'll read that
- 14:47Speaker 5: little blurb here. One of many siblings in a large
- 14:50Speaker 5: Australian family, Tony Fingleton, struggles to make his own mark and,
- 14:55Speaker 5: most importantly, garner the respect of his stern father, Harold,
- 15:00Speaker 5: played by Geoffrey Rush. It's a bit of a who's
- 15:04Speaker 5: who in terms of, you know, Australian acting. And it's
- 15:06Speaker 5: your classic story of a demanding alcoholic father who's never
- 15:12Speaker 5: ever satisfied with his sons, basically, and is always teaching
- 15:17Speaker 5: them to toughen up. They always have to box each other.
- 15:20Speaker 5: And he's that sort of, he's so driven that only
- 15:24Speaker 5: first is good enough.
- 15:26Speaker 1: Would you say he's a hard taskmaster?
- 15:29Speaker 5: Very hard. But he's also a fierce alcoholic. Yeah.
- 15:33Speaker 1: He doesn't like a few beers.
- 15:35Speaker 5: But as I say, I think it's based in sort
- 15:38Speaker 5: of the 1960s and around the Olympic Games in Brisbane
- 15:41Speaker 5: or something like that. And I won't give away the story,
- 15:44Speaker 5: but let's just say the son does very well. But
- 15:46Speaker 5: even then, the father's not happy. It's a pretty dismal tale.
- 15:49Speaker 1: Does he get a bronze?
- 15:51Speaker 5: I'm not saying.
- 15:51Speaker 1: No, he gets a gold and old mate's still not happy.
- 15:54Speaker 1: It's annoying, isn't it?
- 15:55Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 15:56Speaker 6: It is a biographical drama. It's a true story about
- 15:59Speaker 6: Tony Fingleton.
- 16:01Speaker 5: Fingleton.
- 16:01Speaker 1: Tony. What kind of name's Tony? Hey, Tony. Fingleton. Is
- 16:06Speaker 1: he a swimmer?
- 16:07Speaker 5: He's a swimmer, yes.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Hence the name of the movie.
- 16:09Speaker 5: Yes.
- 16:09Speaker 1: Yeah, it's good stuff. Last night, fellas, I watched Colin
- 16:12Speaker 1: from Accounts.
- 16:13Speaker 5: Two buzzies. No, 2.5, actually. No, I'll go 2.8.
- 16:17Speaker 1: Not even a recommend.
- 16:18Speaker 5: No, I'll go three.
- 16:19Speaker 1: Oh, nah. You can't have four ratings of a movie.
- 16:22Speaker 1: I watched Colin from Accounts, TVZ Plus. Very good. Check
- 16:25Speaker 1: it out. Watch it with your partner. Good watching. Coming
- 16:27Speaker 1: up after five, fellas, not only another $ 100 cash with
- 16:30Speaker 1: the GOAT countdown, but a chance to win a double
- 16:32Speaker 1: pass to watch the Waz playing this Sunday against the
- 16:35Speaker 1: Knights at Mount Smart. So stay tuned.
- 16:39Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 16:43Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 16:45Speaker 5: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your
- 16:49Speaker 5: hump day okay. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally,
- 16:52Speaker 5: brought to you by Reburger.
- 16:54Speaker 1: Fragrant street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 16:56Speaker 5: Hey, thanks for coming in. Sorry for the late notice.
- 17:00Speaker 3: Yeah, no, no worries. Always, um..
- 17:03Speaker 1: Happy to help.
- 17:04Speaker 5: I'll get to the point. We've had a few complaints
- 17:07Speaker 5: about you distracting your co-workers.
- 17:10Speaker 1: Oh my goodness, no.
- 17:12Speaker 5: Gee whiz, no. Walking around the office saying, yum. at
- 17:17Speaker 5: various times of the day, it's really not... Oh, you're
- 17:20Speaker 5: talking about yummy. Well, it's not work-related, and it's not
- 17:24Speaker 5: work chat.
- 17:25Speaker 7: No, that's just because of this bird gear place that
- 17:29Speaker 7: I like to go to.
- 17:31Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 17:32Speaker 1: Re-bird gear.
- 17:34Speaker 5: Oh, are you talking about re-bird gear?
- 17:36Speaker 1: That's it.
- 17:36Speaker 5: Oh, mate, fill your boots as long as it's re-bird gear.
- 17:39Speaker 1: Oh, sweet as, yum.
- 17:40Speaker 3: Yum.
- 17:43Speaker 5: Good stuff.
- 17:44Speaker 1: That's the one. Good work, Pugs. Nicely done, mate. And,
- 17:47Speaker 1: of course, big shout-out to Reburger and their new Chop
- 17:50Speaker 1: House Burger. Head in there today. For the rest of
- 17:52Speaker 1: the week, you get a free side of fries.
- 17:54Speaker 5: I'm just wondering, actually, on that front, Pugs, could you
- 17:58Speaker 5: make me up a little library of all the clips
- 18:00Speaker 5: you've made of Reburger? And I'll play them when I
- 18:03Speaker 5: go to bed at night.
- 18:04Speaker 1: Just at home? Yeah, yeah.
- 18:06Speaker 5: And for the meal on Sunday, we can just sit
- 18:09Speaker 5: around and listen to the Reburger clips.
- 18:12Speaker 1: The Come Die With Me? Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 18:13Speaker 1: Well, that would technically be Pugs doing the entertainment. That
- 18:15Speaker 1: wouldn't be you.
- 18:16Speaker 5: But I'll be playing it.
- 18:18Speaker 1: Yeah, cool.
- 18:18Speaker 5: We'll have a chuckle, won't we?
- 18:20Speaker 1: Yeah, sounds great, man. I'm actually busy then. Coming up
- 18:23Speaker 1: this hour, a chance to win a double pass to
- 18:25Speaker 1: the Waz this weekend, fellas. And this morning, sorry, I
- 18:28Speaker 1: had my first ad audition in a long time. Yesterday
- 18:32Speaker 1: I was talking on the show about how nervous I was.
- 18:33Speaker 1: You guys gave me a bit of a pep talk.
- 18:36Speaker 5: We heard through it.
- 18:37Speaker 1: I'd just like to fill you in on how it went.
- 18:39Speaker 5: Yeah, good stuff.
- 18:40Speaker 3: Hey.
- 18:40Speaker 5: Are we still doing the goat though, Keezy?
- 18:43Speaker 1: Doing the goat?
- 18:46Speaker 5: The goat.
- 18:46Speaker 1: It's music's ultimate scoreboard.
- 18:49Speaker 3: On Radio Hauraki. 114. The Pixies. Here comes your man.
- 18:51Speaker 3: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 18:55Speaker 5: Yes, indeed.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Coming in at 113 on the goat countdown there.
- 18:58Speaker 1: 1979 Smashing Pumpkins, fellas. Smashing Pumpkins, Fjellers. That song dropped
- 19:09Speaker 1: down 21 spots last year, 92. I would have had
- 19:12Speaker 1: that sitting probably 1,500, 1,501. Wow, so you don't really
- 19:16Speaker 1: like it. I used to really love it, but it's
- 19:19Speaker 1: one of those songs that I've been listening to for
- 19:22Speaker 1: 30 years now, pretty steadily. Yeah, I think 1,500.
- 19:27Speaker 5: Yeah, fair enough.
- 19:29Speaker 1: Where would you have had that, Jase?
- 19:30Speaker 5: Top 10. Top 10.
- 19:34Speaker 1: Fellas, earlier today I did an audition for an ad. Now,
- 19:38Speaker 1: last year I think I did my last audition. Jase,
- 19:42Speaker 1: you got me a couple and it was kind of
- 19:44Speaker 1: like my foray into getting into acting for the first,
- 19:46Speaker 1: the world of acting. I hated it. It was pronounced foray.
- 19:49Speaker 1: The foray.
- 19:50Speaker 3: Is it?
- 19:50Speaker 5: Yes.
- 19:51Speaker 1: It's my foray into the world of acting. And I
- 19:55Speaker 1: hated it. It was the most embarrassing thing I think
- 19:57Speaker 1: I did last year.
- 19:58Speaker 5: Wow.
- 19:59Speaker 1: The most embarrassing, like the most.
- 20:01Speaker 5: Really?
- 20:02Speaker 1: Yeah, it was the worst I felt last year was
- 20:04Speaker 1: leaving that audition room after I auditioned for an ad
- 20:07Speaker 1: that involved me singing and acting the goat and then
- 20:10Speaker 1: walking out and being like, why am I doing this?
- 20:11Speaker 1: I hate this. I'm never doing this ever again.
- 20:13Speaker 3: That's it.
- 20:14Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 20:14Speaker 1: Back in there today, the big difference this time, I feel,
- 20:17Speaker 1: was I really, really, really practiced my lines a lot.
- 20:20Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 20:20Speaker 1: That's important to know your lines, certainly. But like a lot.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Like I knew my lines.
- 20:25Speaker 5: In the mirror or?
- 20:26Speaker 1: No, I was sort of walking around my lounge pretending
- 20:29Speaker 1: like as if it was the bar I'm supposed to
- 20:31Speaker 1: be in. Yeah. I was, like, sitting here. Rehearsing, they
- 20:33Speaker 1: call that.
- 20:34Speaker 5: Is that right, Chase? Yes. Rehearsals, yes.
- 20:37Speaker 1: And see, these are the terms I'm going to have
- 20:38Speaker 1: to get used to, you know, with my foray into acting.
- 20:41Speaker 1: And so I was, like, sitting on the couch and
- 20:43Speaker 1: I got up and I walked over, did a little
- 20:45Speaker 1: piece to cam thing and then said g'day to this
- 20:47Speaker 1: person and blah, blah, blah. Went in there and it
- 20:50Speaker 1: was great because, Mogi, I said, hey, will I have
- 20:53Speaker 1: to do this whole scene? Yes. And you were like, yep.
- 20:55Speaker 1: And I got there and they're like, cool, so we're
- 20:56Speaker 1: going to do this in three snippets?
- 20:57Speaker 3: Yep.
- 20:58Speaker 1: And they cut it into three bits. Great.
- 20:59Speaker 5: And I was like, ah.
- 21:00Speaker 1: I'd overprepared.
- 21:01Speaker 5: Great. Yeah, yeah.
- 21:02Speaker 1: Best way to go in. Yeah, and the guy was like, right, so,
- 21:05Speaker 1: and I was like, mate, I know what I'm doing.
- 21:06Speaker 1: I've practiced the whole thing. I didn't say that. He
- 21:08Speaker 1: was a lovely fellow, but went in there. He was
- 21:10Speaker 1: like trying to give me props and stuff, and he's like,
- 21:12Speaker 1: if you want, I can play the other person, but
- 21:13Speaker 1: I was like, it's okay. I've practiced without it.
- 21:15Speaker 5: All right.
- 21:16Speaker 1: And so I did it without it. He was like, yeah,
- 21:18Speaker 1: good stuff. And then he said, cool, so we've got Deadpan.
- 21:21Speaker 1: Do you want to have a bit of fun with
- 21:23Speaker 1: it now? Like, you know, have a bit of fun
- 21:25Speaker 1: with it. Like, oh.
- 21:26Speaker 5: Was it meant to be Deadpan?
- 21:27Speaker 1: Yeah, it was, which is kind of what I can do.
- 21:30Speaker 1: You can do it, Fonzie. And I was like, oh,
- 21:34Speaker 1: do you want me to have a bit of fun
- 21:34Speaker 1: with it? Like, yeah, so just have a bit of
- 21:36Speaker 1: fun with it. And he just turned the camera on.
- 21:37Speaker 1: I was like, all right, action. And I was like,
- 21:38Speaker 1: I don't know how to have a bit of fun
- 21:40Speaker 1: with this. And I just did the same thing I
- 21:42Speaker 1: did the first time, but maybe with a bigger grin
- 21:45Speaker 1: and slightly louder.
- 21:46Speaker 5: Yeah, nice.
- 21:47Speaker 1: And he was like, cool, okay. This guy's got range.
- 21:52Speaker 5: Totally.
- 21:53Speaker 1: I did end up saying that to him. Actually, Muggy,
- 21:55Speaker 1: it was your advice to just be honest. And I said, look, mate,
- 21:57Speaker 1: I'm pretty new to acting, if I'm honest. So I
- 22:00Speaker 1: don't have a lot of, I didn't say I don't
- 22:01Speaker 1: have a lot of range, but I said I don't
- 22:02Speaker 1: have a lot of experience in terms of, you know,
- 22:04Speaker 1: playing different.
- 22:05Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm still learning. That's good.
- 22:08Speaker 1: Yeah. What did he say? He said, yeah, no, it
- 22:10Speaker 1: was great. Sweet. He said it like that.
- 22:13Speaker 5: How did he say it?
- 22:14Speaker 1: Yeah, no, it was great. It was pretty quick.
- 22:18Speaker 5: It was like, pfft. A minute?
- 22:20Speaker 1: Two minutes?
- 22:22Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:24Speaker 1: That's good, right?
- 22:26Speaker 5: How many takes?
- 22:27Speaker 1: Just the one. So I think it was kind of
- 22:31Speaker 1: a situation of like, wow.
- 22:32Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. Well done, man.
- 22:34Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 22:35Speaker 5: Thanks, fellas.
- 22:35Speaker 1: It's really good. I'm stoked. It's kind of.
- 22:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 22:38Speaker 5: Yeah, good on you, man.
- 22:40Speaker 1: It's really good.
- 22:41Speaker 5: It's really good, Keezy. Good job, man.
- 22:43Speaker 1: God, that's good. The Goat, it's music's ultimate scoreboard.
- 22:50Speaker 3: On Radio Hauraki. 112, Rolling Stones, Sympathy for the Devil.
- 22:55Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 22:59Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:02Speaker 5: 111 on the Goat Countdown there. Wheeze, Buddy Holly, fellas.
- 23:06Speaker 1: That's right, that's massively up. 207 last year on the Countdown,
- 23:10Speaker 1: up almost 100 places, fellas.
- 23:11Speaker 5: Good stuff. Now listen, if you want to win a
- 23:13Speaker 5: double pass to the Waas this weekend, give us a
- 23:17Speaker 5: call right now on 0800 Hauraki.
- 23:18Speaker 1: That's right, they're playing Mount Smart Stadium against the Knights,
- 23:22Speaker 1: 4pm Sunday. Time to chat footy.
- 23:25Speaker 5: With me, Keezy.
- 23:27Speaker 1: What are the Warriors up to? The Newcastle Knights, the
- 23:32Speaker 1: Knights who can be a very good team, have had
- 23:35Speaker 1: quite a few injuries throughout the season and a bit
- 23:36Speaker 1: stopped starting.
- 23:37Speaker 5: Well, so have we, Keezy.
- 23:38Speaker 1: Totally, Jase, totally. But to be honest with the Knights,
- 23:41Speaker 1: you either catch them on a good day or a
- 23:43Speaker 1: bad day. And regardless, I'm not worried because the Waas
- 23:46Speaker 1: just step up. That's what they do, Jase.
- 23:48Speaker 5: Yeah, totally.
- 23:49Speaker 1: That's what they do do.
- 23:50Speaker 5: Year after year, fellas. Great news.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Tamati Martin is back at halfback in the starting number
- 23:56Speaker 1: seven jersey, so it reverts to Tamati at seven, and
- 23:59Speaker 1: then you've got Chanel Harris-Savita at six, who did a
- 24:01Speaker 1: great job at seven, but he's more of a six.
- 24:03Speaker 5: He did.
- 24:04Speaker 1: So when I look at the team, everything looks fantastic.
- 24:07Speaker 1: Loaded forward pack, good bench. The only difference, Mogi, is
- 24:11Speaker 1: a new fella on the wing replacing Dillon. That's right.
- 24:14Speaker 6: He formerly played for the West Tigers, and they've lost him.
- 24:19Speaker 6: He's been playing in reserve grade, or New South Wales Cup,
- 24:23Speaker 6: as they call it.
- 24:24Speaker 1: Luke Laulili'i.
- 24:26Speaker 6: And a bit of a bustling little fella scores a
- 24:29Speaker 6: bunch of tries.
- 24:29Speaker 1: It'll be interesting to see how he goes. But if
- 24:32Speaker 1: he's like any of the other players that have had
- 24:34Speaker 1: to step up, I'm sure he'll go great guns. I'm excited.
- 24:37Speaker 5: I love this.
- 24:38Speaker 1: And for the first time ever, I remember at the
- 24:40Speaker 1: start of the season and even last season being like, oh, God, blah,
- 24:43Speaker 1: blah is out. That means this chap's starting. That's right. Whereas,
- 24:47Speaker 1: to be honest, nowadays it's like, oh, exciting, who's coming
- 24:50Speaker 1: through next that we'll get to see be awesome?
- 24:52Speaker 5: Yeah, it's unreal.
- 24:53Speaker 6: There's nobody else like us. You know, we're on our
- 24:55Speaker 6: fourth half back. We've got Jackson Ford coming back. I'll
- 24:58Speaker 6: be honest with you, I don't think you can put
- 25:00Speaker 6: him in. If they're going to go by the same
- 25:02Speaker 6: rules of, you know, if you're playing well, you've got
- 25:05Speaker 6: to earn your spot back. I think he's an 80-minute
- 25:08Speaker 6: player who's had a long time off. I think you've
- 25:09Speaker 6: probably got to leave him out. And you're speaking about
- 25:12Speaker 6: a guy who, Jase... was leading the daily in voting
- 25:15Speaker 6: for the entire NRL.
- 25:16Speaker 5: I know, he was going great. He was.
- 25:18Speaker 1: First half of the season, best player in the NRL.
- 25:20Speaker 5: Picture this, fellas. An amazing Warriors match. You've just had
- 25:24Speaker 5: a great feed. You're on Hoity J's couch there on
- 25:27Speaker 5: Sunday with your zips down. Just letting it all hang out.
- 25:32Speaker 5: Just watching the Waz do it.
- 25:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's good stuff, Jase.
- 25:36Speaker 6: The other thing in our favour this weekend is that
- 25:39Speaker 6: Frizzell and Dom Young are out for the Newcastle Knights.
- 25:41Speaker 1: Two of their best players have both been suspended.
- 25:44Speaker 6: So you would have to go, you'd expect a pretty
- 25:47Speaker 6: good flogging.
- 25:48Speaker 1: I'm expecting WAS 13+. But let's go to the Lions there, Phil.
- 25:50Speaker 5: Yes, let's do it. G'day, Damon, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, fantastic.
- 25:56Speaker 3: Thank you much.
- 25:57Speaker 5: Yeah, good stuff, mate. What do you do for a crust, Damon?
- 26:00Speaker 5: I'm a gardener at a retirement village. That'd be quite peaceful,
- 26:07Speaker 5: I'd imagine. Mostly.
- 26:12Speaker 1: Have you witnessed any old folk getting up to a
- 26:15Speaker 1: bit of tomfoolery, Damon? Nah, I'm pretty focused on my job,
- 26:19Speaker 1: so I'm mostly just head down, bum up, and just
- 26:22Speaker 1: get the day done.
- 26:23Speaker 5: Yeah, did you hear that, Keezy?
- 26:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:25Speaker 5: Did you hear what he just said there?
- 26:27Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 26:27Speaker 5: He's focused on his job.
- 26:29Speaker 1: Yeah, that's what I do.
- 26:29Speaker 5: Head down, bum up. Head down, bum up.
- 26:31Speaker 1: All fours looking over his shoulder. Yeah, I already do that. Hey, Damon,
- 26:35Speaker 1: you keen for a double to the Waz on Sunday, mate? Oh, yeah.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Yeah?
- 26:40Speaker 1: All right, well, they're all yours, mate, okay? You hold
- 26:43Speaker 1: the line and Pugson will hook you up.
- 26:45Speaker 3: You're the man.
- 26:46Speaker 1: Thank you much. Good on you.
- 26:47Speaker 5: No worries, man. It's beautiful.
- 26:48Speaker 1: Bloody hell.
- 26:49Speaker 5: I wonder who Damon's going to take. Maybe someone from
- 26:52Speaker 5: the village. Yeah.
- 26:54Speaker 1: One of the village people. No, from the retirement.
- 26:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 27:01Speaker 5: Number 110 on the goat countdown there. Bloom by Nirvana, fellas. Now, listen.
- 27:09Speaker 5: We're celebrating music with the goat, aren't we?
- 27:11Speaker 1: Yeah, the greatest of all time.
- 27:12Speaker 5: Yeah, man. And I think it was sad news today
- 27:15Speaker 5: where I heard the news that the great Dolly Parton
- 27:19Speaker 5: passed away.
- 27:20Speaker 1: 100%. I would say, you know, if there was to
- 27:23Speaker 1: be a country music station doing a greatest of all
- 27:26Speaker 1: time countdown, she'd be in the top five.
- 27:28Speaker 5: Well, she was, you know, kind of like your Engelbert Humperdinck.
- 27:32Speaker 1: No, she's way better than Engelbert.
- 27:34Speaker 5: She is. She is. But it was a part of
- 27:37Speaker 5: my upbringing, Mogi, old Dolly Parton. My dad was a
- 27:40Speaker 5: big fan. So was my mum, actually. They loved her.
- 27:43Speaker 5: And I found out an interesting..
- 27:45Speaker 1: My mum too.
- 27:46Speaker 5: Did she? Yeah. I found out a really interesting fact
- 27:49Speaker 5: about her today. She had two massive... Well, she had
- 27:51Speaker 5: lots of hits, actually. But two of her big hits, Nolene... Oh, Jolene, sorry. Jolene. Jolene.
- 27:58Speaker 3: Jolene.
- 27:58Speaker 1: Jolene.
- 28:01Speaker 5: That was Nolene. And, right, which was a huge hit,
- 28:07Speaker 5: and I Will Always Love You.
- 28:10Speaker 1: And I will always love you. Of course, Whitney Houston
- 28:18Speaker 1: covering that one.
- 28:19Speaker 5: Yeah, and the bodyguard there made it huge. I mean,
- 28:21Speaker 5: it already was huge. Those two massive hits she wrote
- 28:25Speaker 5: in one day, apparently.
- 28:26Speaker 1: Amazing. That is amazing.
- 28:28Speaker 5: It is.
- 28:29Speaker 1: It does go to show, though, Jase, because you used
- 28:30Speaker 1: to write poetry, right?
- 28:31Speaker 5: Yes.
- 28:32Speaker 1: Surely you get hit by inspiration.
- 28:34Speaker 5: Well, you do. You genuinely do. Sometimes it just pours out. What?
- 28:39Speaker 5: The inspiration. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 28:42Speaker 1: She was also, you know, come from very humble beginnings.
- 28:45Speaker 5: She did.
- 28:47Speaker 6: Born in a one-room cabin in Locust Ridge, Tennessee. We
- 28:52Speaker 6: went to Locust Ridge, Jays, one of the worst places
- 28:55Speaker 6: on earth.
- 28:55Speaker 3: Hellish.
- 28:56Speaker 5: Really?
- 28:56Speaker 1: Hellish joint it was. And in the Great Smoky Mountains,
- 29:00Speaker 1: a fourth of 12 children.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:02Speaker 1: The fourth of 12 children. That's a lot of kids, Keezy.
- 29:06Speaker 1: Very hard-working father. Lee was his name, old Lee. Did
- 29:11Speaker 1: Lee used to work 9 to 5? Interesting you say that, Keezy.
- 29:19Speaker 1: He was very proud of his daughter Dolly there, but
- 29:21Speaker 1: he hated that song with a passion. Brought back a
- 29:25Speaker 1: lot of bad memories for him. Yeah, because he worked
- 29:27Speaker 1: his ass off 9 to 5. Well, to be fair,
- 29:29Speaker 1: back then, 9 to 5 wasn't really that hard, was it? Like,
- 29:31Speaker 1: most of them would be up at dawn. Well, he
- 29:33Speaker 1: dreamed of working nine to five, if only. Yeah, right.
- 29:36Speaker 6: And then she's thinking about working nine to five, but
- 29:38Speaker 6: he's thinking to himself, she's slacking off out there in
- 29:41Speaker 6: New York City.
- 29:42Speaker 3: Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:43Speaker 5: Actually, fair point.
- 29:43Speaker 1: Why can't she work really hard like my workmate, Noelene?
- 29:50Speaker 1: But a big rest in peace to Dolly Parton.
- 29:52Speaker 5: She was also a very generous person. Donated to her,
- 29:56Speaker 5: you know, when COVID hit. She donated millions there to
- 29:59Speaker 5: research and all that sort of stuff. And a very
- 30:01Speaker 5: kind human being, apparently. And often when you get to
- 30:05Speaker 5: be a huge star like that, you turn into a
- 30:07Speaker 5: bit of a, you know. Yeah. You get a bit
- 30:10Speaker 5: full of yourself. But she was never like that, apparently.
- 30:13Speaker 1: Yeah. Big rest in peace to Dolly Parton, an icon today.
- 30:16Speaker 1: In the music world. And just because we don't play
- 30:18Speaker 1: her here, you know. Doesn't mean we don't love her.
- 30:20Speaker 3: No, true.
- 30:20Speaker 1: Everybody loves Dolly. Married for 60 years as well.
- 30:23Speaker 5: Wow.
- 30:23Speaker 1: And her husband passed away just last year.
- 30:26Speaker 5: Wow.
- 30:27Speaker 1: Yeah. That's amazing. Should we get back to the GOAT?
- 30:30Speaker 5: Yeah, I think so.
- 30:32Speaker 3: The GOAT. This is one of the greatest. It's like
- 30:34Speaker 3: the Michelin Guide for music. On Radio Hodaki. Number 109.
- 30:37Speaker 3: Fatboy Slim.
- 30:37Speaker 5: Gangsta Trippin'.
- 30:44Speaker 2: The Radio Hauraki Goat Countdown.
- 30:52Speaker 1: When being a music connoisseur pays off.
- 30:57Speaker 5: Bloody oats it does.
- 30:59Speaker 1: My oath. That song, Talking Heads Burning Down the House,
- 31:02Speaker 1: number 108. I don't want to know where it was
- 31:04Speaker 1: last year. I'm quite strict about it. Okay, never mind.
- 31:08Speaker 1: Never mind. Came out in 1983, though.
- 31:10Speaker 3: What did? Huh?
- 31:14Speaker 5: Burning down the house.
- 31:15Speaker 3: Did it.
- 31:16Speaker 1: The song by Talking Heads. Yeah, 1983. Before I was born.
- 31:19Speaker 1: Stop making sense. What was that, Jase?
- 31:21Speaker 5: Before I was born.
- 31:22Speaker 1: That's true. Four years before he was born.
- 31:23Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:24Speaker 1: Far out. What's interesting about when you were born, Jase,
- 31:27Speaker 1: because what are you? 39.
- 31:28Speaker 6: You're the same age as my wife.
- 31:32Speaker 1: Right.
- 31:33Speaker 5: Wow.
- 31:35Speaker 3: Yeah. Wow.
- 31:36Speaker 1: What's your secret? Because Mokey's wife doesn't look anywhere near
- 31:39Speaker 1: as good as you do.
- 31:40Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah. Look, I just think, you know, appreciating the
- 31:44Speaker 5: small things in life probably is the, you know.
- 31:47Speaker 1: Does she not do that? She hates the small things.
- 31:50Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 31:51Speaker 1: Why is she with you then? Hey, should we give
- 31:54Speaker 1: away some cash?
- 31:55Speaker 5: Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Hugo, you mad bastard.
- 32:00Speaker 5: How's life? G'day. Bloody good.
- 32:02Speaker 3: I've finished work for the day and I'm going to
- 32:04Speaker 3: have to go home.
- 32:05Speaker 6: What do you do for, what's a guy called Hugo
- 32:08Speaker 6: do for a crust?
- 32:10Speaker 5: I'm a mechanic. Oh, you're a backbone.
- 32:12Speaker 1: What did you work on today, Hugo?
- 32:14Speaker 2: Oh, lots of things.
- 32:19Speaker 5: A couple of vans.
- 32:20Speaker 1: Wound back a couple of odometers.
- 32:24Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, every day.
- 32:25Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate.
- 32:26Speaker 5: Good on you, mate. Hey, well, great news for you, Hugo.
- 32:30Speaker 5: Your life is about to change because you've just won
- 32:33Speaker 5: yourself 100 bucks.
- 32:35Speaker 1: Oh, bloody beauty. No worries, mate. Good on you, fellas.
- 32:38Speaker 5: No worries, mate.
- 32:39Speaker 1: What will you do with that honey bones, man?
- 32:41Speaker 5: I'd have to treat my fiance to a night out away.
- 32:44Speaker 6: From the kids.
- 32:45Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, that's the one, man. Now you're talking.
- 32:47Speaker 6: The last guy that won $ 100 off us, Hugo, I
- 32:49Speaker 6: don't know if you know this, he staged a coup
- 32:52Speaker 6: in a small South American country.
- 32:54Speaker 1: Went very well.
- 32:56Speaker 7: For $ 100, it goes pretty far.
- 32:57Speaker 1: Yeah, he bankrolled the whole thing.
- 32:59Speaker 5: It's incredible. And the guy before him, remember? Yeah. He
- 33:02Speaker 5: was taking his partner out, and he enjoyed it so much,
- 33:05Speaker 5: he bought the restaurant.
- 33:07Speaker 1: That's right.
- 33:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 33:08Speaker 1: That's right. For $ 100, Hugo. Bargain. Yeah, good stuff, mate.
- 33:11Speaker 5: Good stuff.
- 33:12Speaker 1: We'll let you go now, mate. We'll hand you over
- 33:14Speaker 1: to Pugsan, all right? You hold the line. Thank you
- 33:16Speaker 1: very much.
- 33:17Speaker 5: Good on you, mate.
- 33:18Speaker 1: Bloody hell, backbone, that guy.
- 33:20Speaker 5: Yeah, totally.
- 33:20Speaker 1: Hugo. You don't meet a lot of Hugos.
- 33:22Speaker 3: No.
- 33:23Speaker 5: I do know another Hugo in my life.
- 33:25Speaker 1: Well, there's Hugo Chavez.
- 33:27Speaker 5: Yes.
- 33:28Speaker 1: From Argentina there, Keezy.
- 33:30Speaker 5: Hugo Weaving.
- 33:31Speaker 6: Oh, yeah, Hugo Weaving as well. There was Hugo, which
- 33:35Speaker 6: was a horse, I think, a Steven Spielberg film.
- 33:38Speaker 1: Hugo the Horse.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Yeah, he's a shitter.
- 33:40Speaker 1: Hey, should we get back to the countdown?
- 33:42Speaker 5: Yeah, let's do it.
- 33:43Speaker 3: 107.
- 33:43Speaker 5: As voted by the Hauraki Faithful. Your greatest of all
- 33:51Speaker 5: time countdown.
- 33:52Speaker 3: Number 107. Pearl Jam. Daughter.
- 33:55Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 34:01Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 34:03Speaker 5: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope your Tuesday is absolutely
- 34:09Speaker 5: going off. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way,
- 34:11Speaker 5: brought to you by Reburger.
- 34:12Speaker 1: Serving good times and good food. Dine in or take
- 34:15Speaker 1: away Reburger today.
- 34:18Speaker 5: Scrumdiddlyumptious. Now, I understand, Mogi, you have a bit of
- 34:22Speaker 5: an event tonight. I do. Will they have snacks?
- 34:26Speaker 1: I understand that they're going to have knapes.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Oh, nice.
- 34:28Speaker 1: I love a knape. And possibly even a meal of
- 34:32Speaker 1: a more significant serving size. I mean. So I'm looking
- 34:36Speaker 1: forward to that as well.
- 34:37Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 34:37Speaker 6: I'm not sure if it's a seated event. But regardless,
- 34:41Speaker 6: I'll be there. I'll be stuffing my face there.
- 34:42Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, good.
- 34:44Speaker 1: Get a few drinks in before I have to get
- 34:46Speaker 1: up on stage there.
- 34:47Speaker 5: Yeah, good.
- 34:48Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Give a few people a bit of a dressing down.
- 34:51Speaker 6: Tell them what for.
- 34:52Speaker 5: Yeah, good, good.
- 34:54Speaker 1: It's what it is. Get up there and give them
- 34:56Speaker 1: a spray. Yeah, that's right. Spraying them. Backbone, backbone. Hashtag backbone.
- 35:01Speaker 3: Yeah, nice.
- 35:02Speaker 1: Sounds good, man.
- 35:04Speaker 5: You said you had an atrocity for dinner last night.
- 35:08Speaker 5: A pork salad.
- 35:09Speaker 1: I had a pork salad. It was very nice. It
- 35:10Speaker 1: was a good meal to have after a bougie weekend
- 35:13Speaker 1: of eating cheese. Nice food, yeah. You said it brought
- 35:16Speaker 1: you right back down to earth. Did I say that?
- 35:19Speaker 5: Yeah, you did.
- 35:20Speaker 1: I felt great afterwards. But tonight, even better, guess what
- 35:24Speaker 1: we're having tonight? Stuffed capsicums. So you get a capsicum
- 35:29Speaker 1: and you just stuff it full of mince. Yeah. Did
- 35:31Speaker 1: you have some leftover mince from your pork salad? No, no,
- 35:35Speaker 1: that was like a pork steak. This is just pork mince.
- 35:39Speaker 5: Right, okay.
- 35:40Speaker 1: Because, you know, we like to eat the pork in
- 35:41Speaker 1: different ways. Yeah.
- 35:42Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 35:43Speaker 1: Pork three ways, have you ever had that? No, sounds great.
- 35:46Speaker 1: A pork three way.
- 35:47Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Sunday Arvo, Mogi, Sunday Arvo, mate.
- 35:51Speaker 1: Ten from me.
- 35:52Speaker 5: That's ten from me.
- 35:54Speaker 1: Jase, what are you having tonight, man?
- 35:55Speaker 5: I don't know. I don't know. I don't know that
- 36:00Speaker 5: my wife's been to the super today. We don't really
- 36:02Speaker 5: have much in stock.
- 36:04Speaker 1: Oh.
- 36:05Speaker 5: So I don't, I'm baffled by what we're going to
- 36:08Speaker 5: eat tonight.
- 36:08Speaker 3: Sure.
- 36:09Speaker 5: No, no, certainly not.
- 36:11Speaker 1: No, no.
- 36:11Speaker 5: I had that on SatD.
- 36:13Speaker 1: No, no. You'll dine out, though, won't you?
- 36:15Speaker 5: No, no, probably Uber.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Uber, eat something? Yeah, right, okay. Good stuff. Hey, well,
- 36:20Speaker 1: exciting news for people out there. The last song of
- 36:23Speaker 1: the Goat Countdown for them right now, fellas. 201. Should
- 36:27Speaker 1: we rip in? Let's go.
- 36:28Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 36:31Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 36:33Speaker 1: It's been bugging me. It's been bugging me. Fellas, what's
- 36:40Speaker 1: been bugging me is, you know how I did that
- 36:43Speaker 1: audition today?
- 36:44Speaker 5: Oh, yes. Yeah, yeah. You did, you did, yeah.
- 36:48Speaker 1: The ad campaign there, played like a suave kind of guy.
- 36:52Speaker 1: I thought I did quite well compared to my last audition,
- 36:54Speaker 1: and now I'm just sort of thinking, what happens if
- 36:56Speaker 1: I get the role, right? It's filming next week on Wednesday.
- 37:01Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 37:02Speaker 1: You know what I'm saying? It's good pay, as ads
- 37:04Speaker 1: kind of are, and so I'm like, is it okay
- 37:07Speaker 1: if I miss a day of the show? To go
- 37:10Speaker 1: and film this ad.
- 37:11Speaker 5: Well, look, off the top, Keezy, what I would say
- 37:15Speaker 5: to you is I wouldn't worry too much about it.
- 37:18Speaker 1: What do you mean? Like it'll be all G?
- 37:19Speaker 5: Yeah, that's a good point.
- 37:20Speaker 1: I probably won't.
- 37:21Speaker 5: No, I wouldn't worry too much about it being the situation.
- 37:24Speaker 5: About booking the job.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 37:26Speaker 5: Let's just say it happens.
- 37:29Speaker 1: Was that like a don't count your eggs before they
- 37:31Speaker 1: hatch or whatever?
- 37:32Speaker 6: I think more a case of there are no eggs,
- 37:35Speaker 6: there are no chickens.
- 37:36Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 37:37Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 37:38Speaker 1: Right, so it's just an empty basket.
- 37:39Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 37:40Speaker 1: Okay, well, look, can you just, like, let's just say
- 37:44Speaker 1: I do book it, though, right?
- 37:45Speaker 5: Miracle. Yeah, yeah, okay, okay.
- 37:48Speaker 1: Yeah, so I book it.
- 37:49Speaker 3: Yes.
- 37:49Speaker 1: I do a really good job. Well, you wouldn't book it.
- 37:51Speaker 5: You wouldn't book it. I would.
- 37:53Speaker 1: Oh, so do you book it?
- 37:53Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, they go through me.
- 37:55Speaker 1: But isn't it usually that they say, oh, well done,
- 37:58Speaker 1: you booked the gig to the actor? No, because it
- 38:01Speaker 1: comes through the agent. Yeah, the agent tells the actor.
- 38:04Speaker 1: And then so what did I do? I bagged it.
- 38:06Speaker 5: No, you didn't do anything apart from the audition. Well,
- 38:10Speaker 5: I did everything. But when it comes to the booking,
- 38:11Speaker 5: it comes through me.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Right, okay, so you booked it and I nailed it.
- 38:17Speaker 5: Well, in this imaginary– In a scenario, yes.– chicken-less world.
- 38:20Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, cool. So let's just say that happens. I
- 38:23Speaker 1: then go, hey, fellas, I need Wednesday next week off.
- 38:26Speaker 1: I booked that ad. How good? That's all G, right?
- 38:29Speaker 1: We'll get pugs in. Pugs can come in and try
- 38:33Speaker 1: and do what I do, have a go at least.
- 38:35Speaker 5: Not with me, it's not.
- 38:36Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 38:37Speaker 5: What about you, Mo? Are you all G with that?
- 38:39Speaker 1: I'm sort of six of one, half a dozen of
- 38:42Speaker 1: the other.
- 38:43Speaker 5: Yeah, but we've got no chickens or eggs at this stage.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I'm so confused. Yeah, I don't know if you're ready.
- 38:49Speaker 1: That's my problem. Wait, no, it's not about whether I'm
- 38:52Speaker 1: ready or not.
- 38:53Speaker 5: Actually, that is my fear too.
- 38:55Speaker 1: Yeah. But if I've booked the ad, then obviously I'm ready.
- 38:58Speaker 1: I just feel like they've made a horrendous mistake.
- 39:01Speaker 5: And I would be on tenterhooks all day. I'd be like, oh, God,
- 39:05Speaker 5: just waiting for the call. He bottled it.
- 39:08Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 39:09Speaker 5: And he freaked out.
- 39:11Speaker 6: And this has happened to you before, of course, James,
- 39:13Speaker 6: where you've had a phone call from the producer and
- 39:15Speaker 6: the director and it's, oh, it's happened again. Old Keezy's
- 39:18Speaker 6: burst into tears on set. Can you come and pick
- 39:20Speaker 6: him up?
- 39:21Speaker 1: What do you mean it's happened before?
- 39:22Speaker 5: I've never done that. What are you talking about? You know,
- 39:24Speaker 5: I was happy to do that. You know, we've all
- 39:26Speaker 5: been there. It was when you shat yourself. Okay, okay.
- 39:28Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 39:33Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 39:36Speaker 5: Yes, indeed. Arctic monkeys there. And that's the end of
- 39:40Speaker 5: the goat countdown. Boy, oh boy, fellas, it's getting very tight,
- 39:45Speaker 5: isn't it?
- 39:45Speaker 1: It's getting exciting, isn't it? I'm a bit surprised to
- 39:49Speaker 1: have that song there, to be honest with you.
- 39:50Speaker 3: Yeah, 100.
- 39:50Speaker 1: Yeah, I would have gone 780. 781, 780.
- 39:54Speaker 5: I would have gone 899.
- 39:55Speaker 1: Oh, really?
- 39:56Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 39:59Speaker 1: You both don't like that song very much. Oh, no.
- 40:04Speaker 5: I mean, my top 900 are all bangers.
- 40:07Speaker 1: Are they?
- 40:07Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 40:08Speaker 1: Could you choose one of them for the throbber next time?
- 40:09Speaker 5: Yeah, totally.
- 40:10Speaker 1: That song, of course, I bet you look good on
- 40:12Speaker 1: the dance floor off their album. Whatever People Say I Am,
- 40:14Speaker 1: That's What I'm Not, released in 2006. It's 20 years
- 40:16Speaker 1: old now.
- 40:17Speaker 5: Wow. Very good. Now, listen, if you missed out throughout
- 40:20Speaker 5: the day on the Goat Countdown, don't worry about it.
- 40:23Speaker 5: Hootie J's coming in early every day to put together
- 40:26Speaker 5: a bit of a montage for people so they can
- 40:28Speaker 5: get the vibe and where we're headed with the Goat Countdown.
- 40:31Speaker 3: Number 200, She Hard, Wait and See. Yes, we'll just
- 40:33Speaker 3: have to wait and see. 190, Guns N' Roses, Paradise City.
- 40:40Speaker 3: Take me down to Paradise City.
- 40:45Speaker 8: 180, Weezer, El Scorcho.

- 41:52Speaker 3: 101 Foo Fighters Times Like These. Yes, indeed.
- 42:12Speaker 5: Hope you enjoyed that. Jeez, it sounded good, isn't it?
- 42:15Speaker 1: You're getting really good at making those montages, Jase.
- 42:17Speaker 5: Yeah, thank you, man. It's been a really good learning
- 42:20Speaker 5: experience for me, you know, learning the sort of editing
- 42:23Speaker 5: and all that sort of stuff. It's been great stuff.
- 42:25Speaker 1: What program are you using?
- 42:27Speaker 5: It's one for deer brains like Hoodie Joe.
- 42:30Speaker 1: I've been asking him that almost every day and I
- 42:32Speaker 1: still don't know the name of it.
- 42:33Speaker 5: I'm going to give it away because then you guys
- 42:35Speaker 5: will want to use it and it's all mine.
- 42:37Speaker 1: That's pretty mean. That is really mean. Of course, The
- 42:40Speaker 1: Goat returns tomorrow morning, 7am. It is the final day tomorrow, folks. 7am,
- 42:45Speaker 1: right the way through until the big show, the culmination
- 42:48Speaker 1: of the greatest of all time countdown.

- 43:05Speaker 5: show done and dusted for your Wednesday. Now on the
- 43:09Speaker 5: disclaimer today, which is a new name for our podcast...
- 43:14Speaker 5: We talked pool from recollection. A little bit of pool.
- 43:17Speaker 5: Shooting a bit of pool, having a few darts and
- 43:19Speaker 5: a few cold beersies.
- 43:21Speaker 1: Shooting some pool and shooting the breeze. Good stuff, fellas.
- 43:24Speaker 1: We certainly did. Here is a clip of exactly that.
- 43:26Speaker 1: The podcast comes out at 7.30 tonight. Do you remember that, like,
- 43:31Speaker 1: in the first year? I remember you hating it. No,
- 43:33Speaker 1: you guys just being like, oh, you know, you've got
- 43:34Speaker 1: your Ugg boots on.
- 43:35Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 43:35Speaker 1: And I just had a look on my face of like, what?
- 43:37Speaker 1: You had a look on your face every day. The
- 43:40Speaker 1: amount of times that Keezy used to roll his eyes,
- 43:42Speaker 1: he just went, ooh. Because I had to sit here silently,
- 43:45Speaker 1: just go, oh, my God. Just watching two of the
- 43:48Speaker 1: best go at it.
- 43:49Speaker 2: Just go.
- 43:49Speaker 5: Yeah. Yeah, that was actually, Keezy went into a deep
- 43:56Speaker 5: explanation of how we give him the X sometimes.
- 43:59Speaker 1: It's only twice. Once when you mentioned you both wore
- 44:01Speaker 1: Ugg boots and got really excited about it.
- 44:03Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 44:04Speaker 1: The other one was when you admitted that you had
- 44:05Speaker 1: your own pool cues when you went to pool.
- 44:07Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 44:08Speaker 1: Jace's was in a little briefcase thing.
- 44:11Speaker 5: Yeah. Imagine if you were a flute player. A flautist. Yeah,
- 44:15Speaker 5: it was very long and thin. It was very cool.
- 44:18Speaker 5: I can't remember where I got it from. It might
- 44:20Speaker 5: have been my granddad's.
- 44:21Speaker 1: And you just go in there. You go to the
- 44:23Speaker 1: local hall or pub, was it?
- 44:24Speaker 5: Yeah, no local hall, Ponsonby.
- 44:26Speaker 1: And just get downtrout. Really?
- 44:29Speaker 5: Oh, no, man.
- 44:29Speaker 1: Pull your pants down.
- 44:31Speaker 5: I would be annoyed if I didn't clear the table
- 44:34Speaker 5: each time.
- 44:35Speaker 1: Oh, so you're a waiter. She'd be like, hey, guys,
- 44:38Speaker 1: empty's over here. Have you seen my pool cue?
- 44:40Speaker 5: Can I play next? Hey, Mogi, what's the plan tonight?
- 44:46Speaker 1: Great question, Jase. That's a great question for you, man. Thanks, mate. Well,
- 44:51Speaker 1: my brother-in-law is here now. He's living with us.
- 44:53Speaker 3: Oh, right.
- 44:53Speaker 5: Yes, that's all right.
- 44:54Speaker 6: So, Andy, I don't know, actually, probably work chat, I'd imagine,
- 44:59Speaker 6: and a delicious meal.
- 45:00Speaker 5: Yum.
- 45:01Speaker 6: Not really too sure, but I'd quite like to watch something.
- 45:03Speaker 6: But he's there, and you sort of feel obliged to chat.
- 45:06Speaker 6: A couple of fellas there and dear. Old Luke, he's
- 45:08Speaker 6: a drag, too.
- 45:09Speaker 5: Old Luke, yeah. He bangs on a bit.
- 45:11Speaker 1: We hate him, yeah.
- 45:13Speaker 5: Keezy, you're going to a movie.
- 45:15Speaker 1: Going to watch The Odyssey. I, Max, booked the tickets
- 45:17Speaker 1: like three, four weeks ago so that I could be
- 45:19Speaker 1: right in the middle.
- 45:20Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:21Speaker 1: And I'm pretty sure it's one of the last nights
- 45:22Speaker 1: you can go see it, maybe.
- 45:23Speaker 5: Damn it.
- 45:24Speaker 1: So me and my mate Guy are going to go
- 45:25Speaker 1: to that and have dinner in town somewhere beforehand. Need
- 45:27Speaker 1: a suggestion, Jase. What does that mean? What time? 8.30.
- 45:32Speaker 5: Oh, really?
- 45:33Speaker 1: So there's 20 minutes of trailers and then three hours
- 45:36Speaker 1: of movies.
- 45:36Speaker 5: That's right.
- 45:37Speaker 1: You've had this happen to you before. And I'll be
- 45:38Speaker 1: home at after midnight. Yes.
- 45:40Speaker 5: Good stuff.
- 45:41Speaker 1: What are you doing, Jase?
- 45:42Speaker 5: I'm going to meet my wife for something to eat
- 45:44Speaker 5: and then go home and just chill out and maybe
- 45:46Speaker 5: talk a little bit about come dine with the fellas.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Then probably make love, I guess, and I don't know, actually.
- 45:53Speaker 5: I might do a little bit of exercise.
- 45:55Speaker 1: Good stuff, man.
- 45:56Speaker 5: Hey, listen to the back show.
- 45:57Speaker 1: We'll be back tomorrow.
- 45:58Speaker 3: Oh, bye.
