- 0:00The Western mind wants to overemphasize what can be known,
- 0:04so as to assert dominance on an unknowable reality.
- 0:07Hello sunshine and welcome back to paradigm shift with I understood,
- 0:12a place where we reframe what is and reimagine what could be.
- 0:16I hope you enjoy today's episode.
- 0:18Let's paradigm shift together.
- 0:20Hello divine being.
- 0:22Hello soul siblings.
- 0:24I missed you.
- 0:25Welcome, welcome back.
- 0:26I am so grateful and excited to have you with me here today.
- 0:31And I just always love coming back into this space.
- 0:34Thank you for receiving me and thank you for listening or watching.
- 0:37Today I'm so excited to talk to you about something that has really been in my heart recently.
- 0:43And that is this idea of the wisdom of being lost.
- 0:46So if you are feeling lost in your life, you're feeling like
- 0:49you're deeply confused.
- 0:51You don't know why you're here or what you're meant to be doing.
- 0:53Or there's this huge gap between the life you feel you're meant to be living
- 0:56and the life that's accessible to you.
- 0:59Anything that resonates with you on this plane or dimension of being that is
- 1:03the feeling of being lost, the feeling of being in that deep state of confusion,
- 1:08of lack of knowing, I want to really invite you into a different perspective
- 1:13on this state of being.
- 1:15So first I want to say that in the Western imagination, in the colonial consciousness,
- 1:20there is a huge amount of weight placed on knowing.
- 1:25When you are feeling lost, you are actually in a very deep form of consciousness
- 1:28that the Western imagination will not invite you to see as such because it privileges
- 1:33knowingness, the state of knowing, and a very particular way of knowing
- 1:37as the highest form of being.
- 1:39So whenever you are in a state where you are acknowledging what you do not know
- 1:42and that there is so much you don't know what to do, who you are, where to go, right?
- 1:46You feel less than because you've grown up in a consciousness that has told you
- 1:51to put on a pedestal this state of control, dominance over your reality, clarity,
- 1:56direction, all of this language.
- 1:58When truly you are in a deeper connection with the universe if you are feeling lost
- 2:02because you are acknowledging that the unknown is so much greater than the known
- 2:06that will always be true.
- 2:08We live in an infinite universe.
- 2:09There is so much we cannot know.
- 2:11The paradigm tells us that this is something that we should be ashamed of.
- 2:15If you're lost, I'm telling you you are in deeper connection and truth
- 2:19with the state of the world and the universe.
- 2:21Okay, I love you.
- 2:22So what the colonizer came and said was I think therefore I am.
- 2:25So equating beingness, ontology, with ability to think, to have this cognition.
- 2:32And we know that in the West, people's how people are treated and regarded
- 2:36in the social hierarchies that Western imagination has created and has protected and maintained
- 2:42are really rooted in the fact that if you have access to knowledge, especially the kind of knowledge
- 2:48that you can only gain in elite spaces and institutions, you are put on a pedestal.
- 2:53You are seen as being worthy of having more privileges, more access and even more personhood
- 2:58and that the colonizer, the whole process of colonialism deeply involved saying that we,
- 3:03the white people are the thinking ones, especially the white man.
- 3:07You, the indigenous are the savages.
- 3:09You don't know anything.
- 3:11You don't think, you know, you don't have cognition.
- 3:13They did brain studies.
- 3:14They said as black people, as brown people, your brains are not as developed.
- 3:18There's this whole frenology, which is basically this false pseudo science of studying
- 3:24and mapping the brain.
- 3:25In fact, the idea of high brow and low brow actually comes from that race of science
- 3:29and just speaks to how they weaponize the paradigm of science to serve their own ends.
- 3:35The whole paradigm of science and of scientific knowledge,
- 3:39while it obviously offers so much, and I'm not anti-science, but I am anti the weaponization
- 3:43of science against other dimensions of knowing and being, things like spirituality,
- 3:49things like mysticism, things like animism, this idea that in the West it's just understanding
- 3:54that only humans are basically full of aliveness and potential ways.
- 3:59In a lot of indigenous cultures, there's this idea that even the trees are speaking to us,
- 4:04that the leaves are bristling in a certain way with aliveness, with animism, with character,
- 4:09with personality.
- 4:10We may even name a tree or name a plant or a rock and feel the energy of that rock.
- 4:17And to the Western mind, that sounds completely ridiculous, right?
- 4:21But even that notion of ridicule and the notion of what is absurd is obviously shaped by this
- 4:27consciousness, this colonial consciousness.
- 4:29So with that, we know that knowing and the ability to know and the state of knowing
- 4:34is privileged in this world, because even if you are not listening to this from the West,
- 4:39as you know, the way that imperialism and all of these structures have worked and white supremacy
- 4:44and the exportation or the export of Western ideals to the global self has happened,
- 4:50that we are all influenced by this paradigm of understanding, that if you know things,
- 4:56you are in a higher state of being.
- 4:59So then we come to the state in our lives where we feel lost, we feel like we don't know which way
- 5:03to go, we feel like we don't know who we are, we don't know who we were supposed to be in this
- 5:08world, and we feel like we are living in a lesser than state of being. Why am I so lost?
- 5:14Why don't I know which way to go?
- 5:17And yet if you really think of this infinite universe and how unknowable so many things in the
- 5:23universe are and how even in the paradigm of science, they learn one thing and then they say,
- 5:27oh no, we were wrong. You know what I mean? There's always this deepening of knowledge, meaning
- 5:32that the state of knowledge we thought we were in actually wasn't as knowing as we thought it was
- 5:36at the time. So what that means is that when we feel lost, we're actually coming into a deeper
- 5:42state of consciousness. Why? Because we really don't know. You know, we really don't know that the
- 5:47universe is full of the unknowable and the Western mind wants to overemphasize what can be known
- 5:55so as to assert dominance on an unknowable reality, so as to assert institutionalization and
- 6:01frameworks and understandings and rankings and order and hierarchy on a chaotic world.
- 6:09And so how that affects us on a deep spiritual level is when we don't know, when we feel lost,
- 6:14when we feel like, what the fuck am I doing? You know, what am I even doing? You know, I feel like
- 6:18this often where I sometimes feel very lost. But what I want to invite us into is this feeling of like,
- 6:25what do we actually receive in terms of wisdom? Because everything has the both and the yin and
- 6:32yang. The universe, fire can make us warm or it can burn our house down, right? Water can nourish us
- 6:40and replenish us and hydrate us or it can cause a complete flood. So everything happens in this
- 6:46delicate balance and when it's out of balance, we feel the sense of chaos and disorder. So when we
- 6:52feel lost, it's not just like being lost is a terrible thing and we should feel ashamed or we
- 6:56should feel wrong or like we are living a kind of less than state. It's really that there's also
- 7:01something the universe gives to us when we are in that state of being lost. So if we think of it
- 7:07in terms of give and take, which of course is making a dual when it's really much more complex
- 7:11than that, while we may feel like we've lost the stable ground beneath our feet, what have we
- 7:16gained? We've gained this kind of deeper connection to the absurdity, the expansion, the discovery
- 7:23available in the universe. When you lost, you don't know which way to go. You feel like, how can I
- 7:28know what to do? And yet, how true is that? How can any of us know what to do? Many of us are living
- 7:34according to a kind of false clarity. And again, in the Western imagination, clarity, direction,
- 7:41all of these words are a structure, are seen as higher, better, more valuable, more worthy of
- 7:49living a life. And so when we find ourselves without direction, just kind of spinning in a circle,
- 7:54not knowing, lost in the forest, not knowing which way to go, we feel less than. But what I want to
- 7:59remind you is when you don't know which way to go, you are in touch with the wisdom of the fact
- 8:03that we don't know which way to go. Because even that person who's living according to their five
- 8:08year plan, what happens? Life happens because life does not go according to plan. So there is a false
- 8:14kind of clarity that also can be a kind of illusion. I know exactly why I'm here and I know exactly
- 8:20what I'm doing and I know exactly what, you know, drives me. And then we hear these stories,
- 8:24something happens. Suddenly people are like, I don't know who the fuck I am. Like I literally,
- 8:29the rug has been pulled out from under me. So what I want to say is let's use this image of being
- 8:35lost in a forest. What do you gain in that state? There is background noise. I love you. Okay, we're
- 8:40just going to vibe because we are part of a shared world and we don't get to control the sounds
- 8:45of the sides of the anything. Okay. So and again, the West is also obsessed with idea of control.
- 8:50So when we think of being lost, look at what the sound gave me an entry point. When we think of
- 8:54being lost, we think of this lack of control. And again, the lack of control is associated to the
- 9:00savage. They can't control themselves. Look at their bodies. The idea of anti-blackness and
- 9:04anti-facness is that it's this notion of like this being that cannot control themselves. They are not
- 9:09as disciplined. They are not as ordered. They are not as structured. They are not as controlled
- 9:15as the white man, right? So anything that is associated to the lack of discipline, to the lack of
- 9:21control is seen as a lesser than state of being. It's seen as unworthy of being celebrated or even
- 9:27being acknowledged. So when we are lost in the forest, what do we gain? Okay, so it's confusing.
- 9:33We're in the state of despair. We're like, oh, my word, I'm scared. I don't know which way to go.
- 9:38I'm maybe it's dark. I don't what if what if something comes and finds me? What if there's a threat
- 9:42that's coming my way? And our imagination in the state of consciousness goes to the worst.
- 9:47We project our worst fears onto our surroundings. We project our worst fears onto each other.
- 9:52So if we think to ourselves, oh, no, like, what am I going to do? I'm never going to find my way.
- 9:56We've all felt, I mean, I'm sure at some state in your life, you've felt both
- 9:59spiritually lost, spiritually lost, and also physically lost, okay? So when we are lost in the
- 10:04forest, we don't know which way to go. And our imagination is imagining the worst because we can't
- 10:08cling to anything. We can't say, oh, no, I've walked this path a hundred times. And so there is no
- 10:14security. And that's the whole idea, Alan Watts has booked the wisdom of insecurity that it's
- 10:18actually much more wise to say that you cannot fully, you know, you'll, you'll always feel anxious
- 10:25if you try to seek absolute security because absolute security is against the nature of life.
- 10:30That actually all life is kind of a form of anxiety. And when you're in that state, you're actually
- 10:35in a very wise state. So when we're lost in the forest, what happens next, okay? We pick away,
- 10:40because we have to, we feel this, I mean, I mean, if I need to go home, I need to go home. So I
- 10:44pick away. And if I pick away, then typically what happens is I discover something along that way.
- 10:52And that is the kind of counterbalance. What I said about water, both drowning, but also
- 10:56nourishing. I think being lost, it both confuses us, but it also gives us this opportunity to
- 11:01discover. And that's a big reframe that I've been really inviting in is I'm not lost. I'm discovering.
- 11:09I'm discovering exactly what I need to know. In order to walk the path, I feel I'm meant to be walking.
- 11:16You cannot discover if you are on as much, let's say, if you are on this certain and this
- 11:23tried and, you know, trusted path. Yes, there may be surprises that enter the path. There could be a
- 11:28hyena that comes or a parrot that comes, life will always give us options to discover. But when
- 11:34we are lost, we're in this cracked open state of absolute discovery. And the coolest thing about
- 11:39that state is what it allows us to be open to. What do I mean by that? You must be familiar with
- 11:46the saying when the student is ready, the teacher appears. So in the context of being lost, what does
- 11:52that mean? When we are lost, we are seeking the ones that could be humans, teachers. It could be
- 12:00a certain approach to nature. It could be a habit. It could be a dance. It could be a practice. We are
- 12:06seeking the ones that will find us. So we are in this vulnerable state of openness where we are
- 12:13sort of seeking the medicine that's going to help us feel more whole and more found within this
- 12:20new version of ourselves. So what has opened up is possibility. And let me just take us through this
- 12:28for a second. In the West, there is an understanding of linear time, but in indigenous cultures,
- 12:34and I don't want to homogenize them, but I'll just use that framing for now. In anti-colonial
- 12:39consciousness, there is this understanding of cyclical time and there is this understanding
- 12:44of birth and death in life. Okay? So that we are actually not just dying on the day that we
- 12:51physically die, but in fact, we are always and already dying and being born. What does that mean?
- 12:57When we are lost, we are grieving this date of consciousness or the relationship to reality
- 13:04or the relationship to self we used to have. Why are we so lost? Why is it that on Sunday we
- 13:10were fine and then on Monday we feel lost or in February we were fine and then in March we feel
- 13:15lost because we cannot relate to our lives, to our reality, to everything around us the way we did
- 13:22in February. We are literally, we've constituted like a new being. Now things that we used to tolerate
- 13:28are intolerable. Now things that we used to find clear are confusing because we have become a
- 13:33kind of new being. So there's been a death of a certain consciousness. Why? Because how can we
- 13:39feel lost if not that? If not, there's something that used to be true for us that is no longer true.
- 13:45So there's a death, but what do I say nature gives and takes? So there is a birth. There is a
- 13:50rebirth happening. Each time we are lost, we are being reborn, cyclical time. And what happens when
- 13:56we are reborn? Think of a baby. They can't do anything. All they do is cry. Okay, I love babies.
- 14:01That's not to, but what I mean is, okay, they can do so much. Love you babies. You're the best.
- 14:05But basically what I mean by that is there are so many things you can now do that you no longer,
- 14:11that you used to not be able to do. So you can walk. You had to learn how to walk. Or if you can't
- 14:16walk, you can talk. And you had to learn how to talk. You can conceive of your reality in a
- 14:20certain way. You had to learn that. You know what the color red means in the collective consciousness.
- 14:25You had to learn that. So there's, you were lost, but it opened up the possibility to be reborn.
- 14:32And in that rebirth to find the teachers you needed to learn the things you needed to learn to
- 14:37live a life. Okay. And in that case, the teachers were everyone around you. And so now when you find
- 14:44yourself lost, that part of you is, there's a part of you that's dying. And it's very strange to
- 14:49people who have not grown up with the conception of death in life. It's like, wait, no, how can that be?
- 14:55And also in the West in mind, there is the shunning of death. And so there's this lack of understanding
- 15:00of how to really grapple with death, how to grieve death collectively. There's cultures where you
- 15:06grieve death altogether for many days, singing, dancing, crying together. There's a collective grieving
- 15:12process. I think I learned that in Judaism, there's like a seven day process of grieving, right?
- 15:17So there's like these, all these different cultures that are really rooted in an understanding
- 15:23of death as part of life, but also as us being able to hold that death and that grief together.
- 15:28So now when you are lost, something has died. I'll offer you that. It's an invitation. We can see
- 15:34what resonates and what doesn't. But something is also being born, a new self or a new relationship
- 15:42to self or a new relationship to reality, a new relationship to truth is being born. Why is it
- 15:47that when we learn something really shocking, like a paradigm shift, we can never see the world
- 15:53again. And sometimes we feel so isolated because the people around us still see the world, you know,
- 15:58that other way. And now we're like, this is intolerable. I can't see the world that way anymore.
- 16:03I can't participate in these things anymore. I can't say these things or listen to these things
- 16:07anymore, even if I was never saying them, it's enough. Why? Because the version of me who was
- 16:12able to put up with this or who even didn't even know there was something to be put up with has
- 16:16died. And another being has been born. Okay. So in that rebirth comes all the opportunity to grow
- 16:24and to learn, but it's deeply uncomfortable. You can just picture how natural that is, though,
- 16:28as a process. Think of nature, any sort of being that's cracking into the next phase, whether it's
- 16:33an egg cracking open or kind of this caterpillar cracking into a butterfly. We can see that metamorphosis
- 16:39has a bit of pain in it. Like they don't really look comfortable. They're usually like,
- 16:43like there's like crying babies cry. There's a lot of like screeching. It's a painful process,
- 16:49right? So something that old self, the version of the being that was comfortable in the egg,
- 16:55that version has to die because now the egg is cracking open. So now it's the rebirth,
- 17:00but that is painful. The version of us that was in the womb and like cruising there is has died.
- 17:05And now what has been born, the version of us that must enter the physical world and live in that
- 17:11world and contend with the stresses and the joys of that world. And the fact that they don't yet
- 17:18have all the lessons they need to fully be in that world, you know? And so it's actually a very
- 17:24natural process that that feeling of being lost is deeply uncomfortable, but it's also part of the
- 17:29cycle of birth and rebirth of death and rebirth, right? The phoenix is rising from the ashes, a new
- 17:36phoenix, but because we haven't really been given the space to see this as a perfectly natural
- 17:42and a perfectly even beautiful process, we feel and also I will say because we carry this emotion
- 17:48on our own. So typically if we think of being lost in the forest, ideally we would be together
- 17:53navigating space and time and helping each other navigate the the discomfort of the unknown.
- 17:59Because when we were hunting gatherers not like we always knew what was coming our way, right?
- 18:03There were lots of threats that could come our way and things like that. Ideally because we were
- 18:08living in these collective tribes, we were holding that discomfort together and that's there's
- 18:12that incredible essay by Dr. Ayesha Khan who writes the cosmic Anarchy sub-sac that we can actually hold
- 18:18any emotion as difficult as it may be so long as we hold it in community, so long as we collectively
- 18:24grieve, so long as we collectively fear, so long as we collectively can hold space, we actually have
- 18:30all the wisdom within us to hold very painful emotions. The problem is in the way that the world
- 18:38is constructed, most of us are holding those things on our own. So when you're lost, instead of you
- 18:43being like, oh wow, you know, we are lost, you feel lost independently and because the Western
- 18:51imagination, and I know I keep bringing this up, it's because I think it plays a big role in shaping
- 18:56just how we conceive of the self even if we don't have in the West, but that also may be my bias
- 19:02as someone who like has been in the US for 10 years, and I will say that that bias lives in me
- 19:08uncomfortable, but yes, here we go, but that is really the perspective or part of my purpose I think
- 19:14is to frame things in terms of what the colonial consciousness has done and what we can hope for
- 19:20in response, and I'm not alone in this at all, to the Western mind, the self is the most important,
- 19:27is like the God-like figure of the society, all actualization must be achieved through and by
- 19:33the self, all realization of potential must be happened through the self, you must become your
- 19:40highest self, you must become your best self, right? The self is really placed on this pedestal,
- 19:46so because of that, when we feel like in some way, it's like versus the collective, right? Like we're
- 19:52not all up at night, like oh no, what happens if the collective doesn't realize it's well-being
- 19:57goals, you know, it's really about what if I don't achieve my health goals, and obviously we're all
- 20:01very different, but that's just what a lot of cultural messaging, we are receiving, and because
- 20:07of Western Germany, that's just a lot of the cultural messaging the world is receiving is this
- 20:13projection of this kind of self-obsession and self-development and self-realization,
- 20:18rather than the self as part of a whole, the self as part of a collective, the self as a
- 20:24reflection of the collective, and so the self feeling a certain way as sort of a symptom of a
- 20:29deeper wound within the collective consciousness and the way that the society is structured, so
- 20:35when we feel lost and we feel we feel this on our own, we feel that we're kind of failing because
- 20:41we are doing this and we because we are going against the essence of self that we've been taught
- 20:47to elevate, which is the self that's confident and knowing, knows where they want to go, knows
- 20:52what they want to do, knows their purpose in life, has a lot of knowing energy, confident energy,
- 20:57and even if they're not actually able to access true confidence, they must fake that confidence,
- 21:02right? Because it is embarrassing, it is shameful, it is unacceptable and intonrable to position
- 21:07yourself as unknowing or unconfident in this world, okay? That's been given. So when we feel
- 21:14lost and we're carrying that feeling of being lost on our own, there's this even deeper shame
- 21:18because we're failing in a sense at our job or role of being a certain self and knowing who that
- 21:24self is, what that self is doing and so on and so forth. So I think that's very important as well.
- 21:30I want to really emphasize the beauty of what I was saying around the fact that when we're lost
- 21:35we're open to teachers. A lot of these breaking points where we become a new self or a new
- 21:42iteration of being where we start to be in the world differently, it comes from the fact that in
- 21:47that state of being lost we are cracked open. So what are we doing? We're searching for different
- 21:51things, we're looking for different kinds of voices, we're looking for different kinds of music,
- 21:55we're looking for different kinds of podcasts, we're relating to ourselves and to the world a bit
- 22:00differently because we're seeking something else because a new self has been born and so with
- 22:05that I think it's really beautiful because some of us, some of our favorites works or podcasts,
- 22:10we found in the state of feeling lost, I'll give an example. I remember feeling so lost as to because
- 22:16I worked in the corporate world and then I was like, this is not my purpose and then I was like,
- 22:20what am I meant to do next? And I started listening to Sahara Rose's podcast, The Highest Self
- 22:26and I had lots of synchronicities like this where the right teacher was arriving for me to help
- 22:31me unfold into who I was always meant to be and that, I'll link to that podcast below, it's a beautiful
- 22:36resource, she's incredible, I love her and I love her energy and I just know we're going to collaborate
- 22:41in some way someday, it's just divine unfolding, I already know it's happening, but essentially
- 22:46it's just a, if I hadn't not only felt lost but had the awareness to know I was lost and to do
- 22:52something to, in a sense, be found, I wouldn't have found her podcast because I wouldn't have had
- 22:56the consciousness not like that was seeking her podcast. So yes, that old self died, but the
- 23:01self that was born was seeking different lessons, was seeking different teachers and was seeking to
- 23:07relate to reality in a different way, okay? And I think that is so beautiful because when we are
- 23:13lost, we crack open to each other, like we are ready to surrender to each other, have you ever had
- 23:17that feeling where you just listen to someone and you like, take me, I'm yours, as in I'm surrendering
- 23:22to your point of view, I'm surrendering to this journey you're taking me on, not to say I'm just
- 23:26going to completely like copy everything that you think, but really it's that I'm so open and I'm
- 23:31so lost that what and I trust your frequency, I trust the energy that you emit and that you are
- 23:37radiating into the universe, I trust your intention, I trust your experience, so I'm going to surrender
- 23:43and in the worst again, very unpopular to surrender must be fighting, must be in control,
- 23:47must be dominating versus this idea of surrender, right? Surrendering to what is, surrendering to
- 23:54a teacher that you believe in, not in like a cult leader, follow away, but more in a deep love
- 23:59and appreciation way of like, I'm ready to receive, I've been giving and giving and giving and
- 24:04I want to receive, I've been stressing in my own consciousness, what if yours is the key that can
- 24:10unlock something that was already within me? So when we are open in that way, it's really,
- 24:14really beautiful and I think when you have a whole culture or society that acknowledges that
- 24:19they're lost, they are seeking different kinds of knowing and that is the spiritual awakening we
- 24:26are witnessing and we've been witnessing for these years, is people have recognized something is
- 24:31wrong with how I'm living, something is wrong with how I'm feeling, something is wrong with how I'm
- 24:35being made to relate to myself and to want to all of you. So what do we do? We go on YouTube or
- 24:40we go to talks or we speak to friends and we are seeking different answers. So that's why now in
- 24:46the collective consciousness, we are so much more spiritually wise and it's really a return
- 24:52back to our original wisdom, you know, as beings of this earth that we are actually deeply intuitive
- 24:59and wise beings that have in many ways been alienated from some of that wisdom as it has been
- 25:04denigrated by colonialism and by power structures that want to reduce our reality to the most
- 25:11sterile version of it so that capitalism can thrive because when what does capitalism make gods out
- 25:17of money, status, celebrity and the self, right? So we always need gods and there's actually no way
- 25:24that we can relate as human beings to the world without them and by gods I mean like deities,
- 25:29goddesses, we need something to worship. That is why people are so obsessed with celebrities. We as
- 25:35human beings, we cannot relate to reality without putting our faith in something and I guess you
- 25:41could say there are atheists, yes, however, and that is fair. Okay, I'm trying to get better at
- 25:46like accepting that I also sometimes there's atheism which is the idea of not believing in any
- 25:53higher power. I think that is valid and true and it contradicts what I just said which is fine
- 25:57because embrace the contradictions and the truth is a paradox and so what I think though in
- 26:04reaction to that is the culture has gods even if individuals don't oh she brought it back okay
- 26:10the culture has gods we live in a society that has gods even if it claims even if you live in a
- 26:15country that claims to be secular the god could be the way that you know the government is structured
- 26:22or the idea of a president like why should they even be a president the god could be the notion
- 26:28of the elites okay the notion of whose voice we just feel like oh I must listen to them it could be
- 26:34I think that the main god is like celebrity and status money wealth all of those things are gods
- 26:40that we are all either worshipping or made to worship we want to be closer to the divine
- 26:46whether or not we believe in a strict construct we want those transcendent experiences it's deep
- 26:52that's also the role of spiritual beauty is to bring us closer to that feeling of expansion of
- 26:58the ethereal of the absolute like of the sublime the sublime is a part of human life it always has
- 27:03been it always will be why have all peoples adorned themselves not only in beads and colors and
- 27:10the beautiful jewelry and face painting and henna beads and from South Africa to India to Nigeria
- 27:16to Colombia to Mexico right to native peoples to black peoples across the diaspora African-Americans
- 27:23like Aboriginal people in Australia Chinese people Korean people everyone of those of those
- 27:30cultures if you go back or even today there is a beauty practice rooted in the culture right and
- 27:36that could be physical adornment it could be music it could be incense it could be drums it could
- 27:42be singing together and harmonizing beauty is a deeply spiritual practice and Jessica DeFino
- 27:47who's substack is the unpublishable this idea of industrialized beauty versus spiritual beauty
- 27:53is something that I learned from her and I have a podcast episode on that and I think that's
- 27:57such a powerful idea that rather than this transcendent spiritual mystical kind of beauty divine kind
- 28:02of beauty that's accessible to everyone in a world that's not rooted in harm and hierarchy and
- 28:08violence in the way we were meant to live that was accessible and now it's being packaged and sold
- 28:13in this kind of way that like you can't buy what actually what beauty actually is you know what I
- 28:19mean it and that's confusing because in this world you can but in the in the looking at this world
- 28:26through the lens of a different kind of consciousness you beauty is not something that can be packaged
- 28:31in a serum bottle and sold beauty is a deeply spiritual practice and spiritual relationship to
- 28:36each moment and how we can make it more beautiful and how we can connect to each other through beauty
- 28:41so I don't know how I got there but essentially when we feel like we are lost and we feel like we
- 28:48are in the state of not knowing we are open to each other's beauty because there's a beauty in
- 28:54how someone sings a song and then now suddenly we're open to that right so we're opening ourselves up
- 29:01to new voices to new understandings and so we we have to understand both the death and the
- 29:08rebirth because if we only grieve or mourn or if we only feel the complete like what the fuck the
- 29:13confusion but we don't see like whoa that's so wise of course I'm confused I'm living on a
- 29:18floating rock nothing is what it seems the world feels like it's crumbling at all times and yet
- 29:23I must continue to proceed to keep going I have this consciousness that knows life could be different
- 29:28but I can't fully access that difference in this reality it seems I feel scared of even the things
- 29:34I desire things don't feel as possible as I wish they did there's all these reasons to feel very
- 29:40lost right and so I think it's just knowing that in this cycle even the people who you see who
- 29:47look so confident and so clear on their lives they will cycle into the feeling of being lost because
- 29:52it's part of the human cycle it's not avoidable is if you are an aware person if you're in a state
- 29:58of deeper awareness you will feel the full spectrum of what this life has to offer you and being
- 30:05lost is one of them is one of them and it creates the contrast because when we do find ourselves
- 30:10in the desired state of being maybe we do really seek a kind of knowing like a kind of living our
- 30:18purpose living our truth that knowing that we are alive in the way that we feel like our
- 30:23aliveness is meant to be shared with the world then it's only through the contrast of knowing we
- 30:30were lost that we actually are able to fully experience and receive the state of feeling found
- 30:35or feeling at home you know the feeling of coming home to ourselves if you were always home
- 30:41you wouldn't even be home because you wouldn't have a concept that there was something else right
- 30:46it's just like how you never think I'm on the universe because where else would you be
- 30:50so we need that contrast to bring us into that sharper understanding and reality so if you are
- 30:56feeling lost this is just your reminder from the universe from the cosmos okay which we are all
- 31:03the universe experiencing itself okay I'm reflecting something channeled and I wanted to
- 31:10share it with you because I hope that it can help you just know that you are number one you are
- 31:15not alone okay I know it feels like you're feeling this they're carrying this on your own I want
- 31:20you to use your imagination and think of how many people on this dear planet earth feel lost at
- 31:24this moment and just breathe with them hmm we're so lost gravy cry it doesn't have to be that you're
- 31:31smiling it's not a pleasurable feeling but just acknowledging that my love it I'm so proud of you
- 31:38it takes such an awareness and such a commitment to being honest with yourself and radically
- 31:44truthful to admit that you are lost especially in a culture that demonizes that state
- 31:52so know you are not alone try to find the collective consciousness in the feeling even if you're
- 31:57carrying it on your own and number three ask yourself the daring question of what is this state
- 32:03inviting me into what can I tap into or access in this state of being of feeling lost of feeling
- 32:11deeply confused deeply uncertain that I actually wouldn't have been able to or felt invited to
- 32:17if I had felt the opposite because the universe is always inviting us into things always the bird
- 32:26that is chirping is inviting us to take a moment and listen the trees that are bristling
- 32:31inviting us to take a moment and contemplate the tree or be with the tree feel the tree relate to
- 32:37the tree that stranger who smiles at us and we quickly look down at our phones they're inviting
- 32:43us into a moment even if it's a moment of connection when someone reaches out to you they're
- 32:50inviting you into an opportunity that they see for both of you when someone creates something
- 32:57a movie a podcast a TikTok they're inviting you to watch it that's literally an invitation
- 33:03they know a lot of people will not watch it they know a lot of people won't listen but they're saying
- 33:08hey you're invited here it is here I am on your for you page of life here I am on your algorithm
- 33:13of life I'm here and if you want to participate if you want to feel moved be with me on this journey
- 33:20so we're always being invited and even when we're lost because the universe cannot exist without
- 33:26this multiplicity complexity it's more than duality but essentially it cannot just make you lost
- 33:31and leave you there are shame you are always being invited to experience something deeper beneath
- 33:38that discomfort or through that discomfort that you wouldn't necessarily have seen as possible
- 33:43or felt invited into without that particular frequency of being so what are you being invited to
- 33:51through the feeling of being lost at this time I want to leave you with that question and I want
- 33:56to say to you I've been feeling lost and I sat with that feeling and I was invited to create this for
- 34:03you so what a gift what a joy that we get to live in this reciprocal and beautiful relationship
- 34:09where our life's experiences can become or can be channeled into our deepest and most loving
- 34:14and most hard connected creations I love you so much I hope that you enjoyed this journey I'm like
- 34:20checking that it didn't sometimes my laptop's like storage full and I'm like what what like
- 34:28literally are you kidding me I can't I can't give that again it's not in me and yet it is and
- 34:33yet it was and yet it will be okay I love you so daily I hope you enjoyed this offering from
- 34:37our consciousness we are the collective welcome home babes welcome home and I'm sending you lots
- 34:44and lots of love don't forget to remember that being lost is a juicy experience as uncomfortable
- 34:52as it is it's full of juice and we need to invite ourselves to really experience and be in that juice
- 34:58because we will not always be lost it's just not how the universe is we will experience another state
- 35:03because the universe can only be experienced through contrast so that is why we kind of have
- 35:09this cycle through life so I'm I'm just saying to you that you will not be lost forever and
- 35:16that you are being invited into so many different perspectives dimensions experiences so there's
- 35:23many examples of this I wonder a time in your life where feeling lost actually led to that breakthrough
- 35:29because we love a breakthrough here this is why it's a paradigm shift you know what I mean and so
- 35:33I just am manifesting that for you that you are just unfolding and that life is here to be
- 35:38experienced not just the feelings we've been taught are good or the states of beings we've been
- 35:43taught are good and acceptable all of it belongs all of it is meant to be felt and experienced now of
- 35:48course that is in the purest sense I don't believe that in this hierarchical is like colonial
- 35:54consciousness capitalist and unsafe and gender unequal and gender violent and you know all of
- 36:01those things world I don't think that's meant to be experienced all I mean is this the the
- 36:06range of being states that you're experiencing are part of the universe like they they're all here
- 36:12and so it's inviting you to really be in that feeling be in that experience feel it in your whole
- 36:18body if it's safe for you so that you can release it also that you can alchemize it or understand it
- 36:24in a deeper way I love you so dearly I'm sending you all the love and I'll see you next week
- 36:29remember you are love and you are loved okay and what you seek is seeking you what you desire is
