- 0:20service and after? What resources are available?
- 0:24Who do we talk with about faith? These are some of the many
- 0:29questions that one may ponder in searching for answers to the
- 0:33meaning of life. Join The Revivalists and let's
- 0:37search for some answers together.
- 0:39Luke 923 Then he said to them, All, Whoever wants to be my
- 0:45disciple must deny themselves, and take up their cross daily,
- 0:49and follow me. Yeah, we had one of those
- 1:23things. Hello everybody, hope you are
- 1:28doing well. Welcome, welcome.
- 1:32Today is a pre recorded episode I have to work but this is going
- 1:39to air on Monday July 20th, the year of our Lord 2026.
- 1:44Hey Daryl, how are you today? I'm doing well, dear, Thank you
- 1:50for asking. Blessing to you and your family
- 1:52and friends and those that you're praying for and those
- 1:55that are praying for all of. Us.
- 1:58Amen. Amen.
- 2:00I, you know, I couldn't help but can just kind of chuckle.
- 2:03Even on the intro that, you know, we have, there's something
- 2:07in there, I think that says something about the days of
- 2:11summer. And here we are, the days of
- 2:13summer. We're in July almost, you know,
- 2:18we're heading towards the end stretch of July and the summer.
- 2:23I mean, we just got here. I know, right?
- 2:27We just got here and. There's some.
- 2:30School that starts back next week.
- 2:34It's, it's amazing. Some schools start opening up
- 2:37again Monday or Tuesday. It's, it's amazing.
- 2:41You know, when I was growing up, Eva, you got out of school in
- 2:44May and they come back in September.
- 2:46Right, I remember that. And.
- 2:49I. You you come back after.
- 2:50Labor Day at the library. Yes, Right.
- 2:54Labor Day? No.
- 2:55You did. We had, Yeah.
- 2:58You came back after, well, well, at least Daryl did.
- 3:03At least Daryl came back after Labor Day.
- 3:04I'm like, well, whatever I missed, whatever I missed, I'm
- 3:10getting Oh my God, goes for the days now.
- 3:19Did you ever get? To go visit family during the
- 3:23summer, You know, like your parents would take you to my
- 3:27parents. Yeah, my my parents.
- 3:30Yeah, my parents banished my sister now to Bible Arkansas
- 3:35doing the the summer months. I don't I have no idea why I
- 3:39just you know, I told my cousin I don't like here I have a thing
- 3:44I could be doing to get you older.
- 3:47No, I was trying to get rid of us.
- 3:49That's all that is. But I would, I would not do my
- 3:55children and I know we went on vacation together or we went
- 4:01somewhere we had it was a schedule of events where and
- 4:06every day they were reading or doing math or science or
- 4:09something. So when they got to the room,
- 4:11they didn't lose any of any momentum.
- 4:14Right, we would go. To Grandma's house, yeah.
- 4:23We would go to grandma's house in Oklahoma.
- 4:29Oh my goodness, what was that like for you?
- 4:33Well, that was really good because Grandma and grandpa,
- 4:36well, when I was really little, they managed a bowling alley.
- 4:41So that's where I picked up my affinity for bowling, right.
- 4:45And my parents would drop us off for a couple of weeks to spend
- 4:48time with Grandma and grandpa, and then they'd come back and
- 4:52pick us up, you know, a couple weeks later.
- 4:55So, but, but I loved it because between the bowling alley
- 5:00activities and, and, you know, getting to learn how to bowl,
- 5:04especially bowling for the silver dollars on red pin night,
- 5:08that was fun. They don't do that anymore.
- 5:12But then we'd go fishing. So I learned how to fish pretty
- 5:17young. Grandpa would run the trot line
- 5:20and, you know, I was always out doing active stuff.
- 5:25And we'd take the bicycle with, they lived in a trailer park.
- 5:29So we would drive, you know, we'd ride our bicycles all
- 5:32through the trailer park. It was just me and my sister
- 5:35then. And, you know, we were always
- 5:38active. What was that like being with
- 5:43your grandparents? Oh, I loved it.
- 5:46You know, I guess that's where the affinity for Young and the
- 5:50Restless, I still watch. I still watch.
- 5:52Oh my God, I have not seen, I have not seen Victor and Nikki
- 5:59in years, but I know. They look the same.
- 6:03Yeah, you pick right back up. Yeah.
- 6:06You do, you do, you know, little technical things, but they
- 6:11always know how to tell the story, to pick it back up.
- 6:14You know, it's not hard to get invested back into it.
- 6:17But you know grandma, you know Doug Brown, all that stuff.
- 6:22You know Doug Brown, our friend, right?
- 6:24He and Victor, he and Victor Newman look like they look like
- 6:28each other. Victor's younger.
- 6:30Well, I'm telling you, the first time I ever met Doug, I said,
- 6:33Doug, you. You know who you.
- 6:36Look like he said Who? Yeah.
- 6:37No, Doug. Brown.
- 6:39I don't remember that name. Oh, OK.
- 6:43He's he's the computer he gives anyway.
- 6:46OK. Hey, man, you know what you look
- 6:50like, he said. Who?
- 6:51Victor Newman. He's well, he probably looks
- 6:54like me. Oh, that's funny.
- 7:01Oh my God, it's amazing. We lost your video by the way,
- 7:07so for. You don't see me now.
- 7:09No, we don't see. You.
- 7:11Oh, come on, man, I am so I'm so tired of your stuff.
- 7:16I'll. Be right back now.
- 7:16Yeah. So for folks that don't know,
- 7:19Daryl's going through a brownout in his little city.
- 7:25But unfortunately I needed to get this recorded because I need
- 7:28to work tomorrow and, you know, tomorrow's Monday.
- 7:33So this is the share oh airs on Mondays and and I needed to go
- 7:38ahead and pre record so I could work all day and be off Friday
- 7:42because this weekend I'll be headed to the Southwest meeting
- 7:49for the women veterans conference hosted by the VA.
- 7:54So for folks, I want to know why we're doing this as a pre
- 7:58recording. It's because I will be out of
- 8:02town for a couple of days again so.
- 8:07He he was on the move. On the move.
- 8:10Oh yeah, I have plans already for the end of September.
- 8:14I'm kind of stoked about that. I get I get to go antelope
- 8:20hunting. You, you, you know, you better
- 8:23be be aware of Bo Winkle and Bambi out there now, you know.
- 8:28Don't worry, I can shoot. I can shoot.
- 8:32Hey, you know The funny thing in saying that though?
- 8:37Hey you. Know what antelope?
- 8:39Antelope meat is very it's It's gamey, but it's delicious.
- 8:44I that's what I've here. They said it tastes a lot like
- 8:47deer. I like their meat.
- 8:49So you know, it's, it'll be good.
- 8:53I am looking forward to it. So you know, but I, I was going
- 8:59to say I, I was chuckling because I've, I in the last
- 9:03couple weeks, I don't think I've ever in my entire life, even
- 9:06when I was active duty, have I ever been told that they thought
- 9:11that I was dangerous more in the last three weeks because I know
- 9:16how to shoot a bow and arrow and a weapon too.
- 9:20Oh, you're dangerous. Really.
- 9:22Maybe I'm just, you know, good. Maybe I'm just.
- 9:28I am knowledgeable about shooting weapons and hey, don't
- 9:32mess with me. That's OK.
- 9:34Yeah, Hey, hey, don't mess with Eva.
- 9:36You know, she's going to really, she's really going to be an
- 9:39asset in a commodity in heaven. So, you know, don't, don't mess
- 9:42with evil. Oh.
- 9:46Dear, dear, dear. I'm going.
- 9:48To be part of the angelic guard. Hey, that's that's that would be
- 9:54an interesting position, wouldn't it?
- 9:57All two goes there. I you know I'll, I'll know my.
- 10:02You'll know. I'll know.
- 10:05And what do the angels do all day?
- 10:07They praise God. Yep.
- 10:10It's all they do. And they'll do the gatekeeping.
- 10:13Yep. Oh, so hold.
- 10:15Oh, so you you want to be the one that says who does and who
- 10:18doesn't? Huh.
- 10:20Oh, no, no, no. But you know.
- 10:25Hey, Eva, they'll be looking through the gate.
- 10:27Hey, I think they're supposed to eat, man.
- 10:29You, you don't. You don't want her to side.
- 10:32No. She's dangerous.
- 10:37Yeah, she got, she got questions for you.
- 10:39You. You don't.
- 10:41You know The funny thing is though, Daryl, it's the men who
- 10:44say I'm dangerous. The women are like, hey, go, you
- 10:49go. You know, Dave, they cheer you
- 10:51on not about learning new things.
- 10:55So you know the self-defense kind of stuff they cheer you on.
- 10:59Although although on the powerlifting side from the
- 11:01golden games, I I got much respect from both sides.
- 11:05So any who. There are people, there are
- 11:09look, there are people looking from afar or nearby or in your
- 11:14presence. They wish they could do what you
- 11:17do. But you know, the sad thing is
- 11:21I'm not competing with anybody. I stay in my life.
- 11:26That's the point, right? Because you don't you, you're
- 11:29not a blowhard, you're not Tooting a horn, right?
- 11:32You, you just doing what comes natural to you.
- 11:35But those same people who may be detractors, those people, they
- 11:40wish they could do what you do. Well, I could do that to where
- 11:43you're not doing it. So how do we know?
- 11:44Where's the evidence? Evidenced by what that you can.
- 11:49Yeah, you know, I stay in my lane, I take care of my stuff
- 11:54and just keep moving forward it, you know?
- 11:58But even it shows. It shows because we're supposed
- 12:01to. As those who serve the Lord our
- 12:04God, we're supposed to take care of ourselves physically,
- 12:07mentally, emotionally, but more importantly, spiritually.
- 12:10That's what we're supposed to do.
- 12:11Yep, Yep. You know, I talked about that on
- 12:14From Pain to Purpose the other day, my own little personal AAR
- 12:18from the two week trip and I had three words that I used
- 12:25expectations, preparation and execution.
- 12:30And that is all within your own personal control.
- 12:33Let's do this. Let's have prayer Yep, and then
- 12:37if you briefly when we come back from the prayer, we do 48.
- 12:45If you read that, what you just said will go right into 48.
- 12:50Praise the Lord. That's what it it'll go into
- 12:53that so. Isn't that amazing?
- 12:56Isn't it amazing? It'll go right into it.
- 12:58Let me pray. Father in Heaven, thank you for
- 13:00this time. Thank you, Lord, for the revival
- 13:03of radio show, Lord, Thank you, Lord, for Eva and I Thank you
- 13:07for our families, our friends, those that continue to pray for
- 13:10us as we continue to pray for them.
- 13:12And Father, we ask you to bless this world, O Lord, for those,
- 13:16Lord, you place an authority. If they are not doing what
- 13:19you've assigned them to, do not our will, but allow your will to
- 13:23be done. We thank you, Lord, for the
- 13:26chapter 48 that we're going to read today about Ephraim and
- 13:29Manessa and Lord continually about Jacob and his realization
- 13:35that he does belong to you and he will serve you.
- 13:38We thank you, Lord, for the story of Joseph the Lord.
- 13:40We thank you for it because our stories are their stories as
- 13:43well. We bless your name, Father, for
- 13:45you certainly indeed worthy to be praised.
- 13:48It's in the loving, wonderful name that is indeed Christ Jesus
- 13:51and the presence of the Holy Spirit.
- 13:52That's your daughters, sons, friends and servants.
- 13:55We say Amen, Amen and Amen, the name of the Father and Holy
- 13:58Spirit, Amen, Amen. All right, let me there's the
- 14:06scripture on stage. Proceed ma'am all.
- 14:12Right, so who's reading? You want me to read?
- 14:14Or you. Reading.
- 14:16You're reading. OK, this is Genesis chapter 48
- 14:20in Kessa and Ephraim. Sometime later Joseph was told
- 14:26your father is ill, so he took his two sons Vanessa and Ephraim
- 14:31along with him. When Jacob was told your son
- 14:35Joseph has come to you, Israel rallied his strength and sat up
- 14:39on the bed. Jacob said to Joseph, God
- 14:43Almighty appeared to me at Lou's in the land of Canaan, and there
- 14:48he blessed me and said to me, I am going to make you fruitful
- 14:53and increase your numbers. I will make you a community of
- 14:56peoples, and I will give this land as an everlasting
- 15:00possession to your decedents after you.
- 15:04Sorry, descendants, after you. Now then, your two sons born to
- 15:09you in Egypt before I came to you here, will be reckoned as
- 15:13mine. Ephraim and Manasseh will be
- 15:16mine, just as Reuben and Simeon are mine.
- 15:20Any children born to you after them will be yours in the
- 15:24territory they inherit. They will be reckoned under the
- 15:27names of their brothers. As I was returning from Padan to
- 15:32my sorrow, Rachel died in the land of Canaan while we were
- 15:36still on the way, a little distance from Ephra.
- 15:40So I buried her there beside the road to Ephra, that is
- 15:45Bethlehem. When Israel saw the sons of
- 15:48Joseph, he asked who were these? They are the sons God has given
- 15:54me, Joseph said to his father. Then Israel said, Bring them to
- 15:59me so I may bless them. Now Israel's eyes were failing
- 16:04because of old age, and he could hardly see.
- 16:07So Joseph brought his son close to them, and his father kissed
- 16:10them and embraced them. Israel said to Joseph, I never
- 16:15expected to see your face again, and now God has allowed me to
- 16:19see your children too. Then Joseph removed them from
- 16:24Israel's knees and bowed down with his face to the ground.
- 16:28And Joseph took both of them, Ephraim on his right towards
- 16:32Israel's left hand, and Manessa on his left toward Israel's
- 16:37right hand, and brought them close to him.
- 16:40But Israel reached out in his right hand and put it on
- 16:44Ephraim's head, though he was younger, and crossing his arms,
- 16:49he put his left hand on Manessa's head, even though
- 16:52Manessa was the first born. Then he blessed Joseph and said,
- 16:58May the God before whom fathers Abraham and Isaac walk
- 17:02faithfully, the God who has been my shepherd all my life to this
- 17:06day, the Angel who has delivered me from all harm, may he bless
- 17:11these boys. May they be called by my name
- 17:15and the names of my father's Abraham and Isaac, and may they
- 17:19increase greatly on the earth. When Joseph saw his father
- 17:24placing his right hand on Ephraim's, Ephraim's head, he
- 17:29was displeased. So he took hold of his father's
- 17:33hand to move it from Ephraim's head to Manassa's head.
- 17:37Joseph said to him, no, my father, this one is the 4th is
- 17:43the first born. Put your right hand on his head.
- 17:47But his father refused and said, I know my son.
- 17:51I know he too will become a people, and he too will become
- 17:56great. Nevertheless, his younger
- 17:59brother will be greater than he, and his descendants will become
- 18:04a group of nations. He blessed them that day and
- 18:07said, in your name will Israel pronounce this blessing?
- 18:12May God make you like Ephraim and Manessa.
- 18:15So he put Ephraim ahead of Manessa.
- 18:19Then Israel said to Joseph, I'm about to die, but God be with
- 18:24you and take you back to the land of your Father's, and to
- 18:27get into you I give one more Ridge of land than to your
- 18:32brothers, The Ridge I took from the Amorites with my sword, with
- 18:37my sword and bow. These are the words of our Lord.
- 18:42Amen. May the Lord add a significant
- 18:45rich blessing to the reading, hearing, and professing to our
- 18:48faith in His Word. Amen.
- 18:52So three people got blessed out of this, but also there's the
- 18:59fourth being Jacob himself, because this is not the Jacob
- 19:04that we knew earlier in the midsections of Genesis.
- 19:10This is a man who knows that his days are 9.
- 19:14This is a man that knows that he has a limp for the rest of his
- 19:20life because he wrestled with God.
- 19:22Here's the man that knows that he lost the love of his life,
- 19:24Rachel. Here's the man that knows that
- 19:27he never thought he would ever see his son Joseph again.
- 19:32And yet God has allowed all of this to occur because we are
- 19:38here to honor and glorify the Lord.
- 19:40But Jacob learned this towards the end of his life as opposed
- 19:45at the beginning or the mid portion of it.
- 19:48So again, this stipulates to us that we're no better than they
- 19:57are because we're the same people.
- 20:00That's why you hear a lot of older people are really active
- 20:03in church from 67 to 89 and 100 years old, because they feel as
- 20:07though, well, I can catch up now.
- 20:08I can. I've gotten this other life out
- 20:11of the way. I can.
- 20:16There's no, there's no catching up with God.
- 20:18Just go serve. God.
- 20:20God knows your heart better than you do.
- 20:23He's the Creator. So Jacob, he blessed Ephraim and
- 20:28Manasseh he blessed Joseph. In fact, this is a little known
- 20:34fact. At the very end of 48, he gave
- 20:37Joseph an additional blessing. He gave another Ridge of land
- 20:43that Egypt forever, you know, for the rest of his life.
- 20:47But he'd already have that parcel to himself, which perhaps
- 20:51I'm believing upon his death will go to his son or sons,
- 20:56right? And so we'll find it out at the
- 20:58end of Genesis, the full blessings.
- 21:01And of course, we'll hear about the blessings of the other ten
- 21:06sons as well when we get into 49.
- 21:10What are you thinking today there?
- 21:11About what you just heard, what you just read.
- 21:15A couple of different things, you know, so there was the
- 21:20physical ailments that are going on, you know, clearly, you know,
- 21:26and, and this is important for our audience, especially in the
- 21:31disability arena. Although he's an older man, he's
- 21:36recognizing that he can't see his family.
- 21:41His son is, you know, Jacob's helping to accommodate.
- 21:46Sorry, Joseph is helping to accommodate his father and
- 21:50presenting his kids so that he he, you know, knew where they
- 21:54were. But then you can tell that he
- 22:00tries to explain to him his father, hey, you got them mixed
- 22:05up. And his father's like, Oh, no, I
- 22:08know there's there's something special about these kids.
- 22:12And I did it in the right order. So it's not an insanity thing.
- 22:17It's not a physical disability. He heard he knew which kid was
- 22:22which, but he he did his blessings in a certain order for
- 22:29a reason. And he also did it the way Isaac
- 22:34did not do it. Isaac took the word of the
- 22:38trickster Jacob that he was indeed Esau because Rebecca and
- 22:42he had plotted this right. But they could probably also
- 22:46harken back to the fact that although Joseph were telling him
- 22:50XY and Z through divine intervention, unbelieving, he
- 22:55knew exactly where to place his hands, he knew exactly what he
- 22:59was doing, and the blessings went forward.
- 23:03That's that's The funny thing, you know, because you could, you
- 23:08could, as I was reading that, I was like, oh, he's trying to
- 23:11explain away his dad's actions, but how many people have those
- 23:18experiences even with their own kids now?
- 23:22And and the kids are thinking, oh, he's slightly senile or he's
- 23:29you know, he didn't hear me or made excuses only to known that
- 23:37they actually had their faculties together.
- 23:41Even though he couldn't see, he, he knew exactly, you know, so
- 23:45there was that explanation side that I think we tend to do with
- 23:52senior, senior people or those with disabilities that we try to
- 23:57excuse whatever it is because we want to think that we, you know,
- 24:03the, the abled can, can interpret and think for somebody
- 24:09else because they're disabled. And to your point, sister, God
- 24:16is not senile either. When we pray, we heard you the
- 24:20first time. We don't have to continue to
- 24:23pray for the same thing. He heard you emphatically the
- 24:28first time. Delay doesn't mean denial.
- 24:33He heard you. So while Jacob was giving the
- 24:39blessing to this to his grandchildren, Joseph was
- 24:44probably in awe too, because he'd never seen something like
- 24:47this before. He probably, but and he probably
- 24:51now also knows the story of Isaac and Rebecca and him and
- 24:56Esau. And so it dawned on him also
- 24:59after his father told him, Son, I know.
- 25:02He said, oh, OK. Yeah, It was like, oh, man, OK,
- 25:07now I'm connecting the dots. I mean, that was kind of neat
- 25:11that dad gave him a little history lesson, you know, And
- 25:16maybe they had never had that discussion up until this point.
- 25:21I mean, because maybe they didn't have a reason why to have
- 25:24it, though you would have thought that there would have
- 25:26been some kind of curiosity, you know?
- 25:29Hey, so catch me up. What happened to Mom You?
- 25:32Know right, right I. Mean how did they not have that
- 25:36conversation? And all those scriptures, right?
- 25:39And all those scriptures silent there.
- 25:41I believe it occurred because it Joseph didn't argue.
- 25:46It dawned on him because I'm, I'm thinking he'd heard the
- 25:49story. He heard the full story of he,
- 25:54he saw Isaac and Rebecca. And then I'm thinking also that
- 26:00they had time to talk. This is probably where we're in
- 26:0349. When we'll get to it, we'll find
- 26:05out why Jacob was rather harsh on the sun regarding Joseph and
- 26:13such. And the blessings went the way
- 26:16the blessings went. And one of those blessings,
- 26:19we'll really be surprised of who got that blessing because as
- 26:22we've read previously, you know, the, the human mortal aspect of
- 26:27us is that there's no way this guy's getting a blessing, but
- 26:30but he will. So God blesses anyone he wants
- 26:34to. He'll use and he'll, he has
- 26:38demonstrated he'll use the donkey, he'll use the lion,
- 26:41he'll use an axe head, he'll use anything for his glory to be
- 26:47revealed. And we have to also go back.
- 26:49This isn't the 17 or the 30 year old Joseph we're talking about
- 26:53now. Joseph's well into his 40s,
- 26:54maybe close to 50 now, right? And and still being a governor
- 27:01of the land and only second to Pharaoh.
- 27:04Pharaoh probably was, I'm, I'm, I'm believing Pharaoh probably
- 27:08was maybe just a little older than Joseph, maybe Joseph's age,
- 27:14maybe a little younger than Joseph when all of this
- 27:17happened. Because you, you have to
- 27:19probably look at there was some youth involved here because
- 27:24Pharaoh didn't know what to do. But I know what he was going to
- 27:27do. He was going to execute the
- 27:30people who are worthless to him because you can't determine the
- 27:33dream. And so that would have been,
- 27:35that would have been disaster for some people.
- 27:38And the the the Butler knew, based on his history that he
- 27:44might, you know, his life was in danger because, you know, no
- 27:47more could write so that he immediately remembered Joseph
- 27:51from the prison, right. And so you know what?
- 27:55When our lives are on the line, there's a lot of things we
- 27:59hearken back to, you know, we. In that right, imagine.
- 28:02That it's amazing. It's amazing.
- 28:06It's amazing. I think it was ironic that, you
- 28:09know, with the with those blessing and you can just
- 28:13envision, you know, envision that he's crossing his hands to
- 28:19bless the ones. And how ironic that the
- 28:24blessings that ended up happening between himself and
- 28:29and Esau were reversed. You know, is like, is this a
- 28:34trait? It's not the oldest who's
- 28:36supposed to get. I mean, the oldest is supposed
- 28:38to get it, but this is the opposite.
- 28:42The history of opposite again. And when we read on in
- 28:45Scripture, we'll find out that the oldest doesn't always
- 28:48receive it, it's the youngest. So we go back again to Jacob.
- 28:55He saw Rebecca and Isaac. Isaac was blind.
- 29:03And because Isaac was blind didn't mean he didn't have
- 29:07insight or discernment of who he was talking to.
- 29:10He was going by field. Here we have Jacob doing the
- 29:14same thing. He's going by field, right?
- 29:17Even though he's divinely directed on what to do, there's
- 29:22some. Right.
- 29:23He was announced who was who, but he purposely, you know,
- 29:30blessed the opposite. And Joseph didn't argue.
- 29:35Yeah. And that kind of ironic.
- 29:38I mean, he tried to correct it and he's like, Nope, this was
- 29:41intentional. That's what I get out of it.
- 29:44This was intentional, but he had expectations.
- 29:49I mean, this is going back to the words that I was using while
- 29:52ago, that he had expectations about how things were supposed
- 29:57to go, but that's not how it went.
- 30:00And then he just rolled with it. And you know it, he he said that
- 30:09the other will still be a great nation, right?
- 30:13But this blessing goes to him. And when you look at the tribes
- 30:20of Israel, there were 12 tribes named by the name of the sons
- 30:26and such. There was no tribe of Joseph
- 30:29because the the tribe of Joseph basically was with Benjamin and
- 30:38I mean Esau, Ephraim and Manetha were all grafted in.
- 30:44That's why there were 12 tribes. And at the very end of King
- 30:50Solomon's life and his son Rehoboam became king, he had 12
- 30:55tribes, but because of his foolishness and immaturity, he
- 30:59escaped with his life and only had two Judah and Benjamin.
- 31:04You read on before King Saul came from the tribe of Benjamin.
- 31:11So all of these things line up appropriately for us when we
- 31:17seek knowledge of what Scripture is.
- 31:19And, and I promise and guarantee, because you've done
- 31:21it yourself, I'm sure you have. You read something 25 years ago,
- 31:2630 years ago, 40 years ago, 50. Years ago.
- 31:30Last week, right? That is totally different than
- 31:34how you interpret it or how you understand it right now.
- 31:37Yeah, because I hadn't ever read that part about, you know, this
- 31:43the submission of everything, right.
- 31:46Everything got sold to the state, everything I got, you
- 31:49know, they were, they were totally submissive to what big
- 31:56government Pharaoh was doing. And, you know, I it it it
- 32:01clicked when I read that. I was like, wow, I did it.
- 32:05I mean, I'm not saying that it's, you know, how do I say I'm
- 32:13not saying that big government is right, wrong and different.
- 32:18It's I just didn't ever actually see the example of big
- 32:26government until the way they had talked about it.
- 32:29I mean, that far back in history.
- 32:32I thought that was very intriguing to to fascinating.
- 32:37That's the word. I was very fascinated that big
- 32:40government was in existence then and that everybody was having to
- 32:45sell everything to the government and you know, that
- 32:51subsistence of things being relegated to the grain to feed
- 32:56their families and everything. You know, I don't know.
- 33:00That's just hard. The the money was worth the sis.
- 33:06So what else do you have right? You know, you know you've given
- 33:09them. So what else do you have?
- 33:11So you may eat right. So before we have time elapsed
- 33:16because it's it's 52 after the hour, go ahead and get into your
- 33:24information that she was going to share the ties directly into
- 33:2748 today. Yeah, so you know, part of it,
- 33:32and it's neat looking at it because I pulled, I pulled the
- 33:34scripture back up on my, on my tab on my computer again.
- 33:39But it was Israel saying to Joseph, I never expected to see
- 33:44your face again. And now God has allowed me to
- 33:47see your children too. You know, the expectations that
- 33:50we have for different events, for dealing with families.
- 33:55You know this is a man who had he had 0 expectations on getting
- 34:02to see his son again and 0 right because he thought that he had
- 34:07died. He he took the word of his son,
- 34:09saying that he was killed by some wild animal.
- 34:12Yeah, but my my reflection in my show yesterday about on Frank
- 34:19from Pain to Purpose radio show was I was covering my own AAR
- 34:25about after Action review. For those of you who are not
- 34:28Army affiliated, AAR was about what I had on my trip for, you
- 34:36know, the Golden Age games, my own personal, you know, feedback
- 34:42loop on what were my expectations in attending the
- 34:46games? How much preparation did I do?
- 34:49Was it adequate? Did I, you know, did I do it
- 34:53strategically? I mean, because I'm always
- 34:56thinking the strategy on a variety of different levels of
- 34:59things. And then how did I do on the
- 35:01execution side? So I covered at length those
- 35:06three things in the sports that I was doing, the archery, the
- 35:12golf, the power walking, which didn't happen, the bowling,
- 35:17which happened. But I knew that I hadn't really
- 35:21trained, didn't have my own ball.
- 35:24I had very low expectations, but I wasn't feeling it either, you
- 35:29know, I just knew I wasn't. It's just everything.
- 35:31Since my back had been injured several years ago, my bowling
- 35:37level is not on par what it was before.
- 35:41But I can't get that back that my back is my back, my knees are
- 35:45my knees and you know, it is what it is.
- 35:48So my expectations about the rest of it for the powerlifting,
- 35:52that was the that was the sport that I started training for
- 35:58early on because I knew that you don't develop the muscles for
- 36:03dead lifting and bench pressing overnight.
- 36:07That takes time to do. Right, so.
- 36:10Strategically, I knew when I signed up that was the one I had
- 36:14to start on 1st and then, you know, the preparation for that
- 36:20between the other sports of golf and archery involved equipment.
- 36:25It involves scheduling my my own personal training and everything
- 36:31and then, you know, executing. But part of that with
- 36:35expectations is not everything's on our time schedule.
- 36:40So that's why I didn't get to do the power walking because of the
- 36:43heat that they, we got this e-mail that was really intended
- 36:49for the Monday people at 11 AM who were scheduled to come in
- 36:55Tuesday morning at 7:00. Well, I misinterpreted, which
- 37:00worked out better for me anyways, because I got squeezed
- 37:03in on that early 7:00 AM and they had canceled the 11 AM
- 37:09round that that day. So it worked out both on the
- 37:13expectations, preparation, execution.
- 37:15I, you know, I, I did some practice on both golf and
- 37:19archery like I had intended because I was also nursing my
- 37:25back on the powerlifting, diverting to the other two
- 37:30sports and getting those ramped up and getting my skill level to
- 37:35where I wanted it, at least for the first competition was on
- 37:41par. I felt like I did OK, Now I can
- 37:44take those skills and keep applying it.
- 37:48You know from here that I think the biggest thing there that
- 37:53really ties into what we're talking about with today's, with
- 38:02today's scripture is our expectations of ourselves and
- 38:08expectations of others. There is some moral injury
- 38:11healing and trauma that's available for us to talk about
- 38:16with DSM 5 because you see the dynamics between father and son
- 38:23that that healing is happening, right?
- 38:26And, and they had a different way of discussing things for the
- 38:31healing to happen. But when our brothers and
- 38:34sisters come back home and they've been estranged from
- 38:39their family, that integration back at home is kind of awkward
- 38:45until you can get past some of those barriers to discuss.
- 38:49Well, what are my expectations? How much preparation did I do to
- 38:55get my head and my heart, my soul mentally and spiritually
- 38:59ready to and emotionally to deal with other people, but then with
- 39:05me as well. And then how am I going to
- 39:07execute? Because if I have too high of
- 39:09expectations that, you know, everything's going to be hunky
- 39:12Dory and then everything falls flat.
- 39:16Then I you, you set yourself up for too high of expectations and
- 39:20maybe, you know, go in a little bit lower and let the
- 39:26expectations, you know, let the execution side exceed the
- 39:30expectations and you're not going to be as disappointed if
- 39:35things don't go the way you want them to.
- 39:38Amen. Amen.
- 39:40God will bless you, man will fail you.
- 39:43That's that's, that's, that's how it works, right?
- 39:47Interesting that we were able to go and, and connect with 48
- 39:50today and when we get into 49, we can go back and connect some
- 39:55dots from 48 to 49 because this is the same time and place that
- 40:01the blessings occurred. And I'm under the impression
- 40:07that we're under blessings right now.
- 40:10Eva, you know You, you. You can see.
- 40:13How God has pronounced and projected where we're supposed
- 40:16to go, it's up to us. If we're going to, you know,
- 40:19walk that pathway, we're going to hit the trail properly.
- 40:22If we don't, it's on us. It's not on Him.
- 40:25It's a choice. You know how many people look?
- 40:30What's that phrase? They look?
- 40:31A gift horse in the mouth? Really.
- 40:33You turned down the opportunity to do something, you said no,
- 40:38and then you complain and decide to be a victim because you
- 40:42didn't get what you wanted. How's that working for you?
- 40:48It's not, you know, and I've, I've shared with you the comings
- 40:51and goings of decisions that I, I thought I was going to be
- 40:54making. But you know, God always speaks.
- 40:57He, he will if you listen, if you harken to what he's saying,
- 41:02you're like, man, you, you're off the path.
- 41:05This is not what I have for you. I have something.
- 41:07Else so talk about that, Daryl, you know you're making some life
- 41:14choices right now and how are you using that discernment to
- 41:19figure out which which lane is the one that is God's path for
- 41:25you? You know, the, the enemy is an
- 41:28interesting person and the enemy is here to deflect from you what
- 41:34God is speaking to you, the wisdom, knowledge, understanding
- 41:38inside and discernment. So I have my wife who's I'll
- 41:45every day there's another challenge that's associated with
- 41:48that mental health standpoint, but she's not going anywhere
- 41:52other than being here. She's not being placed anywhere.
- 41:55I just have to just bear down and make sure, you know, we, we
- 41:59got the rolling blackouts here and such.
- 42:04And her, her, her television is not on.
- 42:06And I was getting complaints during the show.
- 42:09And so it's, it's what it is because I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm
- 42:14certain because she's proven it before when I was ill, she stood
- 42:18tall. She was an eagle in the nest.
- 42:20She made sure I was fine. She's a tigress.
- 42:23So I can do that. Then academically, you know,
- 42:26there are some things that, you know, I, I want to be able to
- 42:29add on to, you know, my, my earthly impressive resume.
- 42:35But God said no, so I'm not going to do it.
- 42:39I'm going to do one piece of it, but not the other two because I
- 42:42found out that I didn't need to do the other two.
- 42:44I didn't need to go to nursing school to do those things,
- 42:48right? And again, I'm not trying to,
- 42:50you know, keep accolades on myself.
- 42:53I'm trying to do something that is going to benefit humankind
- 42:57going forward. And I still do that from a
- 43:00clinical governance standpoint. You just keep doing it.
- 43:03So also do you think? That the devil, Satan just been
- 43:09throwing these obstacles in your way And and this is all about
- 43:16this is all about God saying it's OK, I got you there, I got
- 43:21you, I got you and all right, so we're going to let me pick this
- 43:27tree branch out of your way. That is a distraction.
- 43:32And wait a minute, not just the tree branch, you know a.
- 43:36Trunk. Tree, right and, and you have
- 43:41you have to jump up in that Joshua tree because you got
- 43:43coyotes and wolves and things down below ready to eat you, you
- 43:48know, you want to put you on the menu.
- 43:49So I I know this but but but. But but, but taking the wrong
- 43:55path would cost you more money, would cost you more time, would
- 44:00cost you more pain and suffering of things that you know, you
- 44:06would get at the end of that and say, now you're telling me I
- 44:10didn't need this whatsoever. Now that you have, you know,
- 44:14extended all of this extra stuff to what end?
- 44:17Because here's the answer was like way over here and God was
- 44:22like, I had you on this path there.
- 44:24What are you doing? And and so you spoke to it
- 44:27earlier, right? And, and again, you know,
- 44:29everybody, if you don't notice, Eva is, you know, somewhat very
- 44:32prophetic. She asked as us when she goes to
- 44:36heaven and ask questions, God's going to answer.
- 44:39He may answer, He may answer her questions.
- 44:41And nobody else is going to ask me evil questions.
- 44:44So for me that would have been another 3-4 years out of my
- 44:51life, right? You know, you get the 1, you get
- 44:54the two and then you still have to wait two years to get the get
- 44:58the license or the, or the certification that goes to the
- 45:00other thing. So, you know, now I'm.
- 45:03Kind of glad you've had this revelation, Daryl, because you
- 45:07know, I was doing some serious head scratching a few weeks ago
- 45:12when you're telling me that I was like, OK, I just.
- 45:16I prayed for you. I'm sorry, I just.
- 45:17Prayed for you, said I. Hope he finds the discernment
- 45:20that this is not the path he's supposed to be.
- 45:23On and and and not only is that correct, it's not and not only
- 45:28is prophetic, it's profound because it is very, very easy to
- 45:32get off the pathway. It it, it just distractions the
- 45:36bound. And what's unfortunate about the
- 45:40distractions are that some people believe that's what God
- 45:43wants you to do. It sounds good.
- 45:46It can be good, but that's not your pathway.
- 45:50My pathway is, you know, when I was sitting there.
- 45:53I think I think that the whole public administration actually
- 45:57made more sense than even the DH side.
- 46:01But and wait a minute, you. Maybe I'm biased on the public
- 46:05administration. In many ways it's it's, it's
- 46:08somewhat interchangeable for me because it's still a platform to
- 46:12speak to. If you do the, if you do the
- 46:14nursing, it's not because it will turn into something else
- 46:19you probably thought that you had control over and you don't,
- 46:23you don't have control over that, particularly from being in
- 46:27RN. You, you don't, you know, people
- 46:29want you to be on that floor. People want you to be doing that
- 46:32service in the hospital or those extended care facilities and
- 46:36such. And you know, I thought I had it
- 46:39figured out so I could do this and do that, still be home.
- 46:41No, you can't. Your time's not your own, right?
- 46:45So thank you for the prayers. Thank you for me, Lord,
- 46:49listening because I was about to go instead of me going straight
- 46:55and and and wandering around Texas is all I would love to do.
- 46:58I'm in Arizona, I'm in New Mexico.
- 47:01I'm in Oklahoma. I'm in, I'm in Arkansas, Louise.
- 47:04I'm all over the place instead of being in the.
- 47:06Place everywhere but exactly where you're supposed to be.
- 47:10It would have all been a distraction, but that's that's
- 47:13why I asked you some of the things that I did and you know,
- 47:18it's. And and wait a minute.
- 47:20Glad you figured it out. And the last and the last
- 47:24imagery of it is, is because I probably, you know, was saying
- 47:31to myself, I would do this, this and this.
- 47:33But I know enough, in fact, I know more than enough to take
- 47:38care of her. Yeah.
- 47:40Without all the other things that come along with the the
- 47:43pomp and circumstances, the distractions and such.
- 47:46Because I'm going to tell you something even and you hinted to
- 47:49this, you become that then you're not really doing what
- 47:54your what your education says that you're doing, right.
- 47:59Because you won't be, you'll be chasing something else that you
- 48:02weren't supposed to be chasing. And.
- 48:03I, I, you're so right. You know, I, I've been talking
- 48:08to my kids. I said, you know, I have taken
- 48:12some different forks in my path that I think I wasn't destined
- 48:16to go on. Some things wouldn't have
- 48:19happened in life. Probably the car wreck wouldn't
- 48:21have happened. I was supposed to go to
- 48:23Washington, DC to Walter Reed after Desert Storm and no, I had
- 48:30to fall in love and follow Amanda.
- 48:32Fort Stewart, GA, who you know, ended up getting divorced from
- 48:38him. I had two kids with him, but and
- 48:40he passed away in July 2014. Then and I even before we got
- 48:47divorced, I was supposed to go to England.
- 48:51He didn't want to go. So I gave that assignment up and
- 48:54ended up going to Germany. And that all turned out OK and
- 48:58ended up getting married again, had two kids.
- 49:02But if I hadn't done some of these other things, my life
- 49:06could have looked totally different.
- 49:07I probably wouldn't be dealing with the same issues I mean you
- 49:13gotta look at. But I got back on this and said
- 49:17Nope. Yeah.
- 49:19You got to do this. You got to do this, OK, You
- 49:22know, you got to. You got to put aside the worldly
- 49:25thinking. Yes.
- 49:29And I think that's the part that gets back to Joseph, that gets
- 49:33that back to the lot of our brothers and sisters You got to
- 49:38get out of your own way. What does God want you to do
- 49:43right now and start doing it? You got to have that
- 49:46conversation with God because if you are not in tune with him and
- 49:51being like, you know, Jacob slash Israel and knowing that
- 49:57you got to put the right hands. And it's not the worldly side
- 50:01that said, well, worldly side says oldest is, you know, first
- 50:05and the youngest is second or last or whatever.
- 50:10He knew what was supposed to happen.
- 50:12But we put these worldly thoughts that this is, well,
- 50:15this is what this is what, you know, protocols say.
- 50:22I mean, we've been talking about it with the Southern Baptist
- 50:25Convention. And damned if I hadn't been
- 50:28right that they're hinting about taking, you know, the woman's
- 50:34right to vote away. But it's not only just that they
- 50:38want it to be the household vote, one household vote.
- 50:42I was watching this video I sent to the other day.
- 50:46This guy is talking about my vote is less than because half
- 50:54of it went to my wife and she's, she's supposed to be submissive,
- 50:59so she has to vote the same way I do if she still gets the right
- 51:04to vote at all. I mean, he felt like he was less
- 51:07than because she had a seat at the table.
- 51:10And I was like, OK, how about you both get a seat at the
- 51:13table? Isn't that part of the you?
- 51:16You know, I, I feel like we're leaning more towards the
- 51:20conversation of going back to the ITE.
- 51:23This is really the ITE thinking and well.
- 51:27Even that's a book. That's a book.
- 51:30We got to write that book. It's the ITE thinking it it is.
- 51:34And once again, we are no different than those people that
- 51:40we, that we, that we talk about, that we read about, that we
- 51:43present to the global audience here.
- 51:45We're no different than them. We may be a little more refined
- 51:48and cultured deep down inside. We're those people too.
- 51:53I just think this is scary. It's very frightening.
- 51:57I I don't like using that word. Scary it.
- 52:00Is very frightening even. These are the times we live in
- 52:03and they're going to get worse. It's like, really, what kool-aid
- 52:09are they drinking? If this is the same stuff that
- 52:14we are complaining about that's happening over in the Middle
- 52:19East and women covering, I mean, is that the next thing, oh,
- 52:24women, you've got to start covering.
- 52:25Everybody's got to be covered. You, you, you made me start
- 52:30laughing. My, my, my, my, my, my mother
- 52:36would would when she make a jug of kool-aid, she mark it because
- 52:39of the condensation. She marked the kool-aid right.
- 52:41But you're a child, you oblivious to that.
- 52:44And so one day my dad came. He said who drank?
- 52:46He's from Arkansas. Who drinking out the Kool.
- 52:53I immediately went in my room. I I wasn't giving up any Intel,
- 52:57right? It was me who rang out the
- 52:59kool-aid, right? You know?
- 53:01Yeah, not outside. Pop.
- 53:05And back there, it's sweltering, right?
- 53:07So, you know, the things that are occurring in the in in the
- 53:10world now, you know, the bombing, it's all scriptural.
- 53:17It's all been laid out to a blueprint wise, right.
- 53:20There's nothing new that we're hearing.
- 53:23It's just we're experiencing it because we're just it's this
- 53:26time in our lives that we have access to information.
- 53:31We have visuals to imagery and such.
- 53:35So, you know, and Eva, it's not going to get any better.
- 53:39We just got to keep praying. The Saints have to keep praying.
- 53:44For sure something came to me though, that, you know, there is
- 53:51the moral injury that is happening.
- 53:55You know, we've served in war and we knew what we were
- 54:01fighting for then. At least I thought we did in
- 54:05Desert Storm. It was very short war, right?
- 54:08But the other wars that have happened since then that are
- 54:12happening now, there is new moral injury and trauma that is
- 54:20happening to those who have served and say, OK, hold on,
- 54:24wait a minute, What is this new war about?
- 54:27Because I thought we'd already fought that.
- 54:30Or, you know, it, it, it, it, you know, So radio shows like
- 54:37this, The Revivalists, actually become way more relevant.
- 54:42Military broadcast radio becomes way more relevant because we are
- 54:46giving veterans a voice. We are trying to help, you know,
- 54:52help bridge the the concept of what has happened in history,
- 54:58what is happening in the present.
- 55:00How do we make sense of it? We find that discernment to
- 55:04understand that our service hasn't been for nothing and.
- 55:13Yes, yes, you. Wait a minute, wait a minute.
- 55:16One more thing. This is important because you
- 55:18made me to Trump or Doge or both.
- 55:24They disbanded NPR, right? Right.
- 55:30Well, but they were pretty biased.
- 55:33Let's be. Real.
- 55:33OK, OK, so NPR is on hold somewhere, and so is the voice
- 55:41of democracy, I believe. And so guess who MBR can become?
- 55:46We can become all of that. People have to buy into it,
- 55:51right, because everybody on this platform has something relevant
- 55:55to say. Yes.
- 55:58Why can't we take the same format or grader and take it to
- 56:02the globe? I'm just.
- 56:05Yeah, just saying, I know I get it.
- 56:07But we need more broadcasters to be able to do that, too, because
- 56:12I don't have the extra bandwidth to do that until I retire.
- 56:16Whenever God says, yeah, it's a good time to retire, then I
- 56:20could take that on. I don't have that bandwidth
- 56:23right now. I think we lost you both audio
- 56:29and video. Now, your video has been out for
- 56:33a while, Daryl, but now we don't have your audio either.
- 56:39He's in a brownout, folks. Then unfortunately, this is kind
- 56:42of what happens sometimes. It's summer in Texas and
- 56:46brownouts happen. I've been very fortunate not
- 56:50having brownouts happen here, but we are at almost 57 minutes,
- 56:55yet we lost him entirely. So I'm going to go ahead and
- 56:58lead us into prayer. So if you'll all join me, thank
- 57:02you, dear Heavenly Father, for bringing us all together and
- 57:06having shows like this with military broadcast radio.
- 57:10That you give us knowledge, that you give us insight into your
- 57:17word, that you give us the ability to make the connection
- 57:23between the scripture that was written years and years and
- 57:28years ago and making it relevant for our brothers and sister.
- 57:33Now sisters, now this is just thank you for the ability for us
- 57:38to be able to share our experiences and that we are, you
- 57:46know, we are making that connection for folks with the
- 57:52moral injury, healing and recovery side and we pray that
- 57:57they receive it the way it's intended and our candid
- 58:02conversations. You know, Eva, we we just live
- 58:06in a time that. Really.
- 58:09We really have to put our faith, hope and love in action.
- 58:13And because of that, God will go forward.
- 58:17It's just as the apostles, just all the disciples, just all of
- 58:21the people who who really rallied around in faith
- 58:24throughout the centuries, we have to do likewise.
- 58:27And no matter what the cost will be because our lives, for those
- 58:31of us who profess our faith in Christ Jesus, our lives are on
- 58:35the line because there are people who don't believe what we
- 58:38believe. They don't love us the way we
- 58:40love the Lord our God. He's called something else to
- 58:42them. So, and although NPR is on pause
- 58:46somewhere and the voice of democracy is on pause somewhere,
- 58:49we don't have to be on pause because we actually have a
- 58:52platform. You know, we don't have the
- 58:54bandwidth to do 12 shows a day, but we, we maybe we have to
- 58:58extend our time if we can. One day.
- 59:00We we don't know this, but God will provide those opportunities
- 59:04and he will provide the answers to our questions regarding.
- 59:07Well, just remember, if you like shows like this, like and
- 59:12subscribe your support, you can use support military broadcast
- 59:18radio using the blue icon, the blue QR code up in the top
- 59:23banner. And we need your support.
- 59:27Seriously, You know, these shows like this are not free and we
- 59:33are not paid to do this at all, right?
- 59:35We are. We are exercising our freedom of
- 59:38speech to do this and our freedom of religion to do this
- 59:43as well. So thank you for joining
- 59:45Military Broadcast radio on the Revivalist Radio Show.
