With the midterms just weeks away, I want to tell you about something I see every day teaching college students: Generation Z could reshape our politics. In the Los Angeles mayor’s race, voters under 30 are backing the Democratic Socialists of America candidate over the Democratic incumbent by 66% to 4%. Why is Gen Z embracing more dramatic change? It’s no surprise when you consider this generation was born in the wake of September 11, survived the Great Recession, and was in school for the Covid lockdowns.
