- 0:14Speaker 1: Music.
- 0:14Speaker 1: All right, good morning y'all.
- 1:09Speaker 1: Welcome back to another Thursday prayer.
- 1:12Speaker 1: It's Shelly and I'm so excited to be back that I was in the middle of my own worship and was going to miss y'all, so I'm so glad to be back y'all.
- 1:21Speaker 1: Thank you so much for joining us.
- 1:23Speaker 1: I'm trying to close down all the noises and make sure we've got soaking music going on back here just to set the tone.
- 1:31Speaker 1: God is so good and I'm so happy to be here y'all.
- 1:35Speaker 1: I could be talking about the Lord and encouraging and inspiring people all day long.
- 1:41Speaker 1: This is just kind of my wheelhouse, and so, before we go further, I just want to just say a quick good morning to everybody who's on Facebook.
- 1:50Speaker 1: Also, if you're on the Facebook streets, please help us to like and share the video out.
- 1:54Speaker 1: Folks in the prayer group as well.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Good morning to the folks who are watching on LinkedIn and YouTube and Twitter, parade Deck, faith Channel and Apple TV.
- 2:04Speaker 1: I'm not crying, I'm just getting the dust off my eyes.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So today, before we dive in the premise of this message, the Lord kind of shifted a little bit as he was showing me some things.
- 2:15Speaker 1: So, lord, as we go into your award, we just thank you that you've allowed us to come to another Thursday.
- 2:21Speaker 1: We've made it to another week, some of us broken and shaken, but all of us are just grateful to be here.
- 2:27Speaker 1: And so, as your word goes forth, I pray, lord, that you will bless someone who will be blessed, and someone will be blessed from the word and for the lesson today, amen.
- 2:37Speaker 1: So when I got this message, this word, and I'm gonna share my screen because we're gonna be in 1st Samuel 24.
- 2:47Speaker 1: But I just wanna set some premise because we're in the season.
- 2:51Speaker 1: It's that time of year where I don't know if you're doing this, but I'm trying to prepare for the holidays.
- 2:58Speaker 1: So in the US we have Thanksgiving coming up here shortly, and then, following that, we have Christmas, and then we have New Year's and it is just a really busy time.
- 3:08Speaker 1: On top of everything else that's going on, if you've got kids, you know you've got end of year things going on with kids.
- 3:13Speaker 1: But you know, something else that he was showing me is that this message is not just this, isn't just for those of us who are preparing for the holiday season.
- 3:24Speaker 1: This is also gonna help a lot of us, a lot of y'all who are on the LinkedIn streets and you're doing the return to office and some of y'all are having to face some people who you work with some colleagues, some managers, some friends, some folks where you really do have to have healed hearts and even restoring some of those connections, and so we're gonna cover a little bit of that.
- 3:54Speaker 1: So this is gonna help you whether you are preparing for the holidays, also as you're just reconnecting with people and that you might need to ask the Lord to help you forgive, and you have to show some level of empathy and I know what I'm talking through to heal your hearts and kind of restore those connections.
- 4:13Speaker 1: So we're gonna dive into first Samuel 24 versus one through 22.
- 4:17Speaker 1: It is kind of lengthy.
- 4:19Speaker 1: I am going to read it out.
- 4:21Speaker 1: We're not gonna rush today.
- 4:22Speaker 1: Thank you for liking the video.
- 4:23Speaker 1: I keep forgetting y'all like the video on the social media street, so we don't get kicked off, please.
- 4:27Speaker 1: So let me present my screen so that we can look at first Samuel 24 together.
- 4:36Speaker 1: And again, if you don't have your word, this is just an easier way for us to do this.
- 4:40Speaker 1: So I'm gonna read through the word and then I'm gonna come back to you and we're gonna put this in context.
- 4:46Speaker 1: And then Holy Spirit.
- 4:47Speaker 1: You know he's got this, okay, so when?
- 4:52Speaker 1: So the caption this is the ESV version, the English standard version, the A HL version David Spare saws life.
- 4:59Speaker 1: And so when Saul returned from following the Philistines, he was told David is in the wilderness of Ngeti.
- 5:06Speaker 1: When Saul took then, saul took 3,000 chosen men.
- 5:10Speaker 1: So he chose these men, strong men, out of Israel, and they went to go look for David I'm gonna put this into my Shellyism so we can get through the word and his men in front of wild goats, rocks, and he came to the sheepfolds, by the way, where there was a cave, and Saul went into use a restroom to relieve himself.
- 5:29Speaker 1: The word says now David and his men were sitting in the innermost parts of the cave.
- 5:34Speaker 1: Now imagine let me just put this in context okay, imagine, here's this person.
- 5:40Speaker 1: It could be family, it could be colleague, right, and you are already in a mindset where there is contention, there's contention, and this person shows up.
- 5:50Speaker 1: God, it shows up.
- 5:52Speaker 1: Okay, so now David is when we're sitting in the innermost parts of the cave and the men of David said to him here is the day of which the Lord said to you behold, I will give your enemy into your hand and you shall do to him as it shall seem good to you".
- 6:08Speaker 1: Okay, so for those of y'all, maybe you've gotten a promotion recently, or maybe you have been promoted in other ways.
- 6:16Speaker 1: Maybe you're running a bigger project or something and you have an opportunity to deal with someone who've been dealing with you and you're saying, okay, this is the day that the Lord gave you, you know surely?
- 6:25Speaker 1: Right?
- 6:26Speaker 1: So you're gonna deal with him as it seems good to you.
- 6:28Speaker 1: Or maybe it's a family member showing up, you've had some things you wanted to say, and this is the day, right?
- 6:33Speaker 1: So just put it in our context.
- 6:37Speaker 1: So David arose and stealthily cut off a corner of Saul's room, meaning David took this action without Saul's knowing.
- 6:46Speaker 1: Stealthily, okay, he took this action.
- 6:48Speaker 1: And afterward David's heart struck him because he had cut off a corner of Saul's room and he said to his men the Lord forbid that I should do this thing to my Lord, the Lord's anointed, cause.
- 6:59Speaker 1: Saul was anointed to put out my hand against him, seeing he is the Lord's anointed.
- 7:05Speaker 1: So David persuaded his men with these words and did not permit them to attack Saul.
- 7:10Speaker 1: And Saul rose up and he left the cave and he went on his way.
- 7:14Speaker 1: So Saul didn't know what happened.
- 7:17Speaker 1: At this point he wasn't aware that David, because it was unstealthily right.
- 7:21Speaker 1: So he had cut off a corner of Saul's room.
- 7:25Speaker 1: But David, his heart struck him One.
- 7:29Speaker 1: I think that the Lord was reminding him that Saul is anointed.
- 7:33Speaker 1: So you're not gonna lay your hands because he is the Lord's anointed.
- 7:37Speaker 1: Some of y'all are coming after the Lord's anointed.
- 7:40Speaker 1: Don't do that.
- 7:41Speaker 1: So David persuaded his men don't, don't attack Saul.
- 7:45Speaker 1: Now, further down into the word in verse eight, afterward, david also rose and he went out of the cave and he called after Saul, my Lord the King.
- 7:54Speaker 1: And when Saul looked behind him, david bowed with his face to the earth and paid homage.
- 8:00Speaker 1: And David said to Saul why do you listen to the words of men who say behold, david seeks your harm.
- 8:06Speaker 1: Behold this day.
- 8:08Speaker 1: Your eyes have seen how the Lord gave you today into my hand in the cave and some told me to kill you.
- 8:14Speaker 1: But I spared you, right, I said I will not put out my hand against my Lord, or he is a Lord anointed.
- 8:21Speaker 1: And so he comes.
- 8:23Speaker 1: He's explaining here.
- 8:24Speaker 1: Here I had the opportunity to take revenge on you, saul, but because the Lord reminded me.
- 8:30Speaker 1: The Lord said because you are anointed?
- 8:34Speaker 1: Right, then I did not put out my hand against you because I recognize your position.
- 8:39Speaker 1: I recognize who you are, I recognize your position.
- 8:44Speaker 1: Okay, so I'm not putting out my hand against you.
- 8:47Speaker 1: And then he tells him see my father, see my father.
- 8:50Speaker 1: And this, see my father, is another way of establishing that kind of authority.
- 8:57Speaker 1: Right, see my father, see the corner of your robe in my hand.
- 9:01Speaker 1: And he's showing him.
- 9:01Speaker 1: For by the fact that I cut off the corner of your robe and did not kill you, you may know and see.
- 9:07Speaker 1: There is no wrong or treason in my hand.
- 9:09Speaker 1: I've not sinned against you, though you hunt and try to take my life, though you've been coming after me, family member, for many, many years, many, many years.
- 9:18Speaker 1: You see, I have not sinned against the Lord.
- 9:20Speaker 1: I have not.
- 9:21Speaker 1: I have not.
- 9:22Speaker 1: You know, try to take your life or take things from you.
- 9:25Speaker 1: May the Lord judge between me and you.
- 9:27Speaker 1: May the Lord avenge me, but my hand shall not be against you.
- 9:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna pause here and come back to the room, because there's a couple of things that I wanna hit on really quickly when it comes to the way we respond to some things.
- 9:41Speaker 1: And again, like I said, when I got this word I thought it was just for the holiday and Lord was like no talk about it.
- 9:47Speaker 1: Also, how we're dealing with coming into working with people that we're seeing people we haven't seen for some time.
- 9:54Speaker 1: So the first part I wanna call out in 1 Samuel 24 is in verse four.
- 10:01Speaker 1: Verse four I'm gonna just read it to y'all and this was and verse four is showing us that there was an opportunity for David to attack.
- 10:23Speaker 1: So here you're gonna run into situations Maybe you're sitting around the table, maybe you're getting the food ready, maybe you're making the preparation plans before you even get started.
- 10:31Speaker 1: Okay, maybe that's where you are, so you know whether it's a home thing, family thing or job thing.
- 10:37Speaker 1: And the opportunity is gonna show up for you to attack.
- 10:41Speaker 1: Attack the person who's wronged you, attack the person who's hurt you.
- 10:46Speaker 1: You know what I mean.
- 10:47Speaker 1: Your tini is gonna lay itself open and this test is gonna happen to you.
- 10:52Speaker 1: And so, as David, as David, as we're seeing in the word with David in verse four, right, the men of David said to him so people around you saying yo, you go.
- 11:02Speaker 1: You know, here is the day what the Lord said to you.
- 11:06Speaker 1: You know, this is.
- 11:08Speaker 1: They're reminding David what the Lord says.
- 11:11Speaker 1: They're even bringing the word back.
- 11:12Speaker 1: I will give your enemy into your head and you shall do to him.
- 11:15Speaker 1: So sometimes even your friends, your friend circle, they're the ones who are gonna be calling out to say, you know, hey, this is the day you need to do something.
- 11:25Speaker 1: I'm giving the enemy into your head, but I want you to watch and understand what happened in verse five, because in verse five, when David's heart struck him, he says afterwards David's heart struck him because he had cut off a corner of the robe.
- 11:41Speaker 1: And this, to me, is just a signal of showing mercy to your enemy by honoring God.
- 11:47Speaker 1: And that's hard.
- 11:48Speaker 1: It's really hard to show mercy to someone who's done you something wrong.
- 11:53Speaker 1: But if you think of it from a different perspective, if you think about it from it's not so much that you're doing this for that person, it's you're doing it to honor God, because that person may never come around.
- 12:06Speaker 1: That family member who had been, you know, saying nasty stuff, who had been doing wrong stuff, that colleague who had been tearing you down, that business partner, whatever, you know, it doesn't mean that they're gonna change their behavior.
- 12:18Speaker 1: But it is the response.
- 12:21Speaker 1: You know it's the response and how you respond.
- 12:24Speaker 1: And in this way, David's response was showing mercy to Saul by honoring God.
- 12:30Speaker 1: Honoring God, verse nine, I think again is really cool.
- 12:36Speaker 1: And David said to Saul why do you listen to the words of men who say, behold, david seeks your harm?
- 12:42Speaker 1: So this is a confrontation.
- 12:44Speaker 1: This is basically.
- 12:45Speaker 1: You know, look on the streets and I'm gonna drop this in the.
- 12:49Speaker 1: I'm gonna drop this in a chat and forgive me if y'all have questions or whatever.
- 12:52Speaker 1: Drop it in the chat.
- 12:53Speaker 1: I'm just on a flow right now.
- 12:54Speaker 1: But David said to Saul why do you listen?
- 12:58Speaker 1: Why do you listen to the words of men who say, behold, david seeks your harm?
- 13:02Speaker 1: A lot of y'all are coming into this season based on basing your feelings and how you're responding to people, based on what other people said, other people said, other people who've been, you know, juicing you up.
- 13:22Speaker 1: Okay, and you're going into this situation.
- 13:25Speaker 1: Well, so-and-so auntie, so-and-so said that cousin, so-and-so did this and you're going in, you know, ready to fight.
- 13:31Speaker 1: And I love how David approaches Saul by asking why you're listening to the words of men that say that David, you know himself, is seeking your harm, right.
- 13:42Speaker 1: So this is a confrontation.
- 13:44Speaker 1: Some of you might need to just squash the thing by just saying you know this is.
- 13:49Speaker 1: You know we wanna move forward.
- 13:51Speaker 1: Yeah, all right, why are we doing this?
- 13:53Speaker 1: All right, verse 12,.
- 13:56Speaker 1: It talks about the Lord being the one who does the avenging.
- 14:00Speaker 1: It's not by his hands.
- 14:01Speaker 1: It wasn't David trying to avenge.
- 14:04Speaker 1: Let God handle it.
- 14:06Speaker 1: Let God handle it.
- 14:08Speaker 1: Let God handle it.
- 14:13Speaker 1: I mean, I have many, many situations where there are people around me y'all, I mean, just stop sharing this comment.
- 14:22Speaker 1: There are people around me who are anointed and blessed, but they've done me wrong in some way, shape or form and it is still up to me to honor God in the way that I respond to them.
- 14:37Speaker 1: And this could be, if you're thinking about it, from you're on the job and maybe it's, you know, someone senior to you, maybe it's your boss, maybe it's your peer, your colleague, or again, if it's in your family, maybe it's the mothers of the church, whatever.
- 14:52Speaker 1: It is okay, but you've been wronged.
- 14:54Speaker 1: You've been wronged by them and it's really not up to you to try to avenge that.
- 15:00Speaker 1: You can take that to the Lord and let him deal with that, because you may end up responding over responding to someone who's anointed, and you're the one who catches, because God is going to say don't hurt my anointed, right?
- 15:19Speaker 1: So what I love about the way Saul responded, I'm going to show my screen again so y'all catch this, okay?
- 15:29Speaker 1: So what I hope, what you're learning today, is I'm not telling you to go into the holiday, go fight somebody.
- 15:36Speaker 1: I'm not telling you to go into the holiday, go judge somebody.
- 15:39Speaker 1: I'm telling you to go in the holiday with your heart and the right posture.
- 15:42Speaker 1: I'm showing you that this way, the way that we honor God, is not through fighting each other.
- 15:50Speaker 1: It's not through showing up with the attitude of I can never forgive what so and so did because they burnt the food.
- 15:58Speaker 1: I mean, it's none of that.
- 15:59Speaker 1: It's none of that.
- 16:01Speaker 1: It's none of that.
- 16:05Speaker 1: Here you have David.
- 16:06Speaker 1: He understood his position with Saul.
- 16:08Speaker 1: Let me just save this really quickly, because there are also a lot of especially churchy women, a lot of women, mothers of the church or women who have been in the church for a long time, who've been churching for a long time.
- 16:22Speaker 1: But you're not anointed at all.
- 16:24Speaker 1: Church doesn't make you anointed.
- 16:27Speaker 1: That's not how it works.
- 16:30Speaker 1: So there are a lot of older women who've been judging younger women as well, and older women who may be.
- 16:40Speaker 1: You're the Saul and they're the David, the younger woman being the David, and even in that situation, david, the younger women you have to honor them as well, because they are also anointed Right.
- 16:58Speaker 1: So, as you're sitting at the table, as you're preparing your hearts for this holiday season again, or as you're preparing yourself to be around more people, okay, it's the heart posture, it is understanding that if someone's done you wrong, just because they showed up at the event this holiday season, maybe just because they showed up at the dinner this Thanksgiving, doesn't mean that, ah, this is my time to get them, as David's men were saying.
- 17:25Speaker 1: It doesn't mean that the Lord has, you know, dropped them in your, in your, put them in front of you finally.
- 17:31Speaker 1: So there's a confrontation, so you can.
- 17:32Speaker 1: No, that's not what it means.
- 17:34Speaker 1: This may be a season where the Lord is putting those folks who have wronged you so he can see how you respond to them, how you respond to them.
- 17:45Speaker 1: What is so amazing is after David and I urge you to go back and read this in full first Samuel 24 is after David is has kind of poured out his heart and he says you know, may the Lord judge between me and you.
- 18:02Speaker 1: May the Lord avenge me against you, but my hand shall not be against you.
- 18:07Speaker 1: You know, david is literally, he's stepping back and he's like God will take care of you.
- 18:13Speaker 1: My physical hand will not harm you, but the Lord will avenge me, right, my hand shall not be against you.
- 18:23Speaker 1: May the Lord therefore, be judged and give sentence between me and you.
- 18:30Speaker 1: And thank you, god, that you're going to plead my case and deliver me from your hand.
- 18:37Speaker 1: That's more powerful than you trying to strike somebody down with your own words, with your trying to figure out, like how are you going to, how are you going to have a comeback?
- 18:46Speaker 1: How do I, how do I say something to let her know how I feel?
- 18:51Speaker 1: She needs to know that she did, she did this thing to me years ago and I need, I'm seeing her this this, this season.
- 18:58Speaker 1: I need to tell her how I feel because the Lord surely the Lord has delivered her into my hands, because we have the same event together.
- 19:05Speaker 1: So let God fight your battles for you.
- 19:08Speaker 1: So how do you move from betrayal into harmony?
- 19:17Speaker 1: That posture is letting God fight that battle for you, and it doesn't matter how old you are, it doesn't matter.
- 19:26Speaker 1: Age has nothing to do with it.
- 19:28Speaker 1: Y'all, how, how Christian, how, how much of a belief you are, has nothing to do with it.
- 19:34Speaker 1: You got to let God fight that battle for you.
- 19:37Speaker 1: In my own situation, I gave that situation over to God.
- 19:41Speaker 1: In that situation I'm the David and there's a soul and my hand will not cause harm to you is what I said in my prayer.
- 19:51Speaker 1: Father, my hand is not going to cause harm to this person and I handed that back to God and he took care of it.
- 19:58Speaker 1: So I pray that that is on your heart.
- 20:03Speaker 1: As you're preparing for the holidays and you know you're going to come across some folks you know we don't want to sit across the table with them.
- 20:10Speaker 1: Okay, and they've hurt you, go back to the Lord and say, hey, lord, my hand will not touch this person.
- 20:19Speaker 1: I give this back to you and then let it rest so that he can give you peace about it.
- 20:24Speaker 1: Don't be stressed out.
- 20:27Speaker 1: A lot of folks are already telling me oh, I'm so stressed about the holidays I don't wanna see so, so and so.
- 20:33Speaker 1: I don't wanna deal with so and so because so and so happened, and my family did this and my friends did this and you know, no, just give it back to God and let him deal with it and you find a place of peace and rest and let God fight your battles for you.
- 20:51Speaker 1: And if you know that you're the person who wrongs somebody, you need to ask for forgiveness and some of y'all have to ask for forgiveness in that confrontation you saw with David.
- 21:00Speaker 1: You might need to go back and ask that person that you've hurt and ask them for forgiveness, and then you both can be at peace.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Amen, and that's what healing our hearts, getting ready for the holidays and shifting from that mind of the trail and going into your own sense of peace or harmony that's God's word for you today.
- 21:20Speaker 1: Amen, I hope that bless you because, like I said, I'm like everybody else getting ready for the holidays.
- 21:26Speaker 1: I'm like everybody else.
- 21:27Speaker 1: I got a lot going on, but this is kind of where our hearts is.
- 21:31Speaker 1: So, as we're going further and further to the holidays, I'm gonna keep coming back.
- 21:35Speaker 1: I think this is going to help somebody.
- 21:38Speaker 1: You know we talk about breaking chains a lot and sometimes it's not a full on deliverance message.
- 21:44Speaker 1: Nah, I don't have to lay hands on you.
- 21:47Speaker 1: I just have to speak it and if you receive it, it will break the chains.
- 21:51Speaker 1: For you to go back into the word and the Lord will show you what to do.
- 21:54Speaker 1: I don't have to lay hands on you at all.
- 21:56Speaker 1: But if you don't follow what the Lord is saying for you, then the chains will forever be around your neck.
- 22:02Speaker 1: So if you're looking for chains to be broken, then do what the Lord says.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Don't avenge, don't seek revenge, and let it go and bring it to Him and let Him take care of it for you, and then rest your heart at peace and move on.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Amen, father, we just thank you for your word, tough one though it is today, because it's not about us trying to hurt or harm each other through our words or trying to scheme our way out of things.
- 22:28Speaker 1: I thank you, lord, that you continue to show us that, if we just yield circumstances and even people, if we just yield those things and and hand it back to you, lord, that you have the best way out as we're entering into these, these holidays, or God and we we start getting really busy April, or that you will just press it on our hearts that we will want to find more peace within our families and that we have a spirit of forgiveness, that we're bringing hope and joy.
- 22:56Speaker 1: Lord, there's so many folks who even now are are already struggling.
- 23:00Speaker 1: They don't even know how they're going to feed their families in this holiday season and maybe their soul is you know the job or they just they don't have a job right now and they are really hungering for, for help, for hope and and, lord God, I just ask that you will open those doors for them so that they will receive everything they need in this season, be it a financial blessing, a material blessing, or maybe it's just the spirit of forgiveness and peace in their house.
- 23:29Speaker 1: Thank you, god, that you're always teaching us in Jesus name.
- 23:33Speaker 1: Yeah, I hope that bless you.
- 23:35Speaker 1: I hope that bless you.
- 23:37Speaker 1: Please come back next week.
- 23:39Speaker 1: Don't forget to like the video on the social media streets.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Thank you for everybody who who watch, and especially, I do want to thank the folks who listen to us on the podcast streets as well.
- 23:48Speaker 1: This is the video version, but catching us on the podcast, because I appreciate all your support.
- 23:53Speaker 1: Have a great rest of you.
- 23:55Speaker 1: We, god, bless you and take care.
- 23:56Speaker 1: Bye, everybody.
