- 1:11then a whole bunch of other stuff but right now y'all want y'all to make it
- 1:14live and make it live for my good friend mr djan tyler up in the building y'all
- 1:18djan what up what what what up what up yeah it was good how you doing man happy
- 1:24being no worries man thank you thank you man i appreciate you sliding through
- 1:26to the yeah buddy podcast man Yes, sir. Yes, sir.
- 1:31So how you been, man? We just knocked out the Uli show last night and shit like that.
- 1:35Yeah, man. I was impressed. I was impressed with the improv.
- 1:40It was interesting, yeah.
- 1:41Yeah, I was really impressed. I didn't know that improv, you know how comedy
- 1:45and improv have this thing.
- 1:47You know what I'm saying? We're comedians and you guys do improv and vice versa. It goes both ways.
- 1:52I didn't know there was even one between improv and sketch.
- 1:56Yeah. Yeah, that was... I called a sketch dude, an improv dude.
- 2:01He took his personal. He said, what? Yeah, he had the whole conversation.
- 2:03He was like, hey, hold on. We do pre-written material.
- 2:07You know what I'm like? Oh, God. Calm down, dweeb. Yeah, he was.
- 2:12Nah, he was cool, though. But I didn't know that that existed.
- 2:15I was like, oh, so every different level, there's like, you know.
- 2:18Yeah, that's what I think. I was surprised. It's interesting,
- 2:21like, because, like, we look at comedy. We just look at comedy, like, from the aspect.
- 2:24We, like, just stand-up comedy because we understand how clickish it is and
- 2:28how it is stand-up comedy.
- 2:30But when you look at improv artists and look at stand-up comedians as a whole,
- 2:35I don't know what y'all taught me. Y'all just out here giving therapy and shit.
- 2:40You know what I mean? They're like, yeah, I'm doing that. And then vice versa,
- 2:44like Sketch Arts, I don't know what these improv artists do.
- 2:47They're not sitting down. They're not thinking about what they're saying.
- 2:49They're not, like, I don't know. They're just making it up.
- 2:52Look at them thinking on the fly. Who does that? And he was like,
- 2:56I could tell like just with that one little comment. Oh, yeah. Okay.
- 2:59It's kind of like if you mistake, like if you see a person that Korean and you
- 3:03mistake them, like call them Chinese or something like how, you know,
- 3:06I'm saying like they don't understand like to me.
- 3:09It's you know but to them it's
- 3:12like no they can tell they can tell easily and they're
- 3:15like offended yeah comedy that dude was like no
- 3:18i am not one of those and they
- 3:22and i was and i hope it's not all sketch hours but maybe i
- 3:24mean i'm just gonna just for this episode i'm gonna just box them all together right now but
- 3:27like extra bougie too because like like he
- 3:31the only reason why he came was because i i asked him to be
- 3:34part of the variety show his sketch team they said oh no
- 3:36man we gonna have to see i'm gonna feel it out
- 3:39you know so see how it feels and shit like that whatever stuff like that
- 3:42we was and i was in their group chat or whatever and then
- 3:45like three minutes before the show starts he puts up in the
- 3:48group chat what a horrible fucking turnout i was like oh wow i was like what
- 3:53the fuck that's so that's the guy the same we're talking about the same yeah
- 3:56we're talking about the same dude yeah it's like lex luther yeah yeah he was
- 4:00cool but i was cool but i didn't know that the sketch comedy world had this
- 4:03i want to go see some i didn't know there's a difference.
- 4:06Now I want to go see it. I mean, I guess there is a difference,
- 4:08I guess, but I never thought about it.
- 4:09I'm like, sketch and improv, I ought to put them in the same group.
- 4:12If you asked me beforehand, I'd be like, yeah.
- 4:15Oh, yeah. No, no, no, no.
- 4:18So who's the sketch company? Who does sketch comedy? I'm not sure.
- 4:22That's what I've been trying to figure out. I thought it was all improv.
- 4:25Like, I've never seen, like, somebody, I've never seen anybody ever just say,
- 4:29hey, no, we're sketch comedy. We're just sketches.
- 4:31Yeah. And that's not us. Like, I know, like, and I mean,
- 4:34like, social media skits and stuff all like that like but not like
- 4:37we're putting all like sketches like like some saturday night
- 4:40live type of stuff yeah that's it but i would be kind of
- 4:43like i would i'd be dope for that issue yeah yeah i'm kind of like improv the
- 4:46improv was dope yeah at first i was like man this is corny
- 4:49but then i seen it because you can't help but think that so i'm sorry improv
- 4:52people out there i don't think you're corny in real life you know what i'm saying
- 4:56but it does from a common point of view to see everybody like because we're
- 5:00just we just do our shit by ourself we have other comedians that are our friends
- 5:04but we go on stage it's just us it's just us yeah so we don't have that the
- 5:08improv they have like more like a.
- 5:11Team quality. They have shirts. Yeah, matching uniforms.
- 5:15I could never see going to a show and he got the same shirt I got. No.
- 5:20The same outfit we got. The headliner got the same outfit as the opening. What the fuck is this?
- 5:25But then when you see it on stage, though, it works because on stage,
- 5:29they have to be like that.
- 5:30You have to build that camaraderie, I think, in order for when you go on stage
- 5:33and perform that it goes as seamless as possible when you're dealing with something
- 5:38that's, you know, you're dealing with random subjects and improv.
- 5:40So they have to have a strong sense of unity so
- 5:43i think some of the stuff that looks cool they do like they were all in there doing like
- 5:46little exercises that they do from the outsider like
- 5:50why are they doing this you're grown people but then when you get on
- 5:53state you see it in the performance you see oh that's
- 5:56why it's like you know just like some of the stuff you do in a football team
- 5:58like is is wild you know what i'm saying like they make you
- 6:01have to actually tackle you have to actually go up against your your own teammates
- 6:04you know what i'm saying like it you know
- 6:07but when it when the game time comes all
- 6:11that stuff like it it works so improv y'all
- 6:15right and we probably get it from like the vice versa like be like a state that
- 6:18could be like with like we'd be like in our heads like going over our sets like
- 6:21before the show or whatever people are like why are you so serious you can be
- 6:25funny i might not just go over my set in my head oh yeah everybody needs that
- 6:29time i can't stand when somebody tries to talk to me because you know what a comic is like,
- 6:34you know, like getting ready.
- 6:36You see them like in the quarter and they're like, you know,
- 6:39they're up next. Yeah, they get in that zone, their heads start tilting and
- 6:42they just start like, yeah.
- 6:44Hey man, guess what happened to me at Womp, man? Get the fuck away from me, bro. Yeah.
- 6:49I'm about to throw my whole vibe off, man.
- 6:53Oh yeah, is there a language thing in this? No, we could cuss.
- 6:56It's all good as shit. I didn't want to cuss.
- 6:57I'm not going to cuss a lot. We don't have to, yeah, if it happens,
- 7:00it happens. Okay, cool, cool. Yeah.
- 7:02I should have asked that already. Yeah, we is free order.
- 7:07When we first started, not this room, but before we moved over here,
- 7:11we was trying to do a drink champs type of thing.
- 7:14I don't really drink like that. So I just had like, I got very faded.
- 7:19This was a bad idea. Let's move it to a more structured place.
- 7:22I got faded. Man, last time, the last show I did, well, not the last show I
- 7:28did, the last show I did was before that, I did. Shout out to Michael Winfield, man.
- 7:33Yeah, his birthday is today, actually, man. Today is actually his birthday,
- 7:35but he'd been at Punchline all weekend.
- 7:38So, I get invited to come up there, and they got this drink that's,
- 7:43like, his... I guess they gave him a signature birthday drink. Oh, dope.
- 7:46But I'm thinking, you know, since Mike's a vegetarian, his drink ain't gonna be that crazy.
- 7:52Bro, I had one, and I couldn't even finish the second one.
- 7:56It was, like, all tequila. It was, like, just a gigantic glass tequila.
- 7:59Just a bunch of tequila? It said there was lime in it, but it's more like you
- 8:02poured a glass of tequila like a triple shot and then a lime walked past the
- 8:06glass and went, huh, interesting. And kept walking down the bar.
- 8:11Maybe he looked at his reflection, a lime like a justice fucking eyebrows and
- 8:15shit stuff in the fucking glass and kept moving to a strong.
- 8:19I was lit this weekend. I had a good time. How was that show?
- 8:22Oh yeah, and shout out to Mikey Winfield. Happy birthday to Mikey Winfield.
- 8:24How was that? How did that show go? It was fun, dude.
- 8:29Kyrie, DJ, Chaz Hawkins I know I'm going to forget somebody so I apologize to the fans,
- 8:35but I've seen a lot of people up there I had a good time and I don't even know
- 8:38if I hold another group of comics that came Saturday and I think Sunday they
- 8:42might have a show today too I don't know but yeah it was a good time man show the crowd sold out,
- 8:48and then as far as comedy goes and shit like that,
- 8:54Have you traveled to a lot of different places? Yeah. Yeah, I have.
- 9:00Some of the places I've been, I would never have been if it wasn't for comedy.
- 9:03You know what I'm saying? Like, there's no reason to go to Winnemucca,
- 9:05Nevada, unless you're doing comedy or methamphetamines.
- 9:10Like, there's no reason to go to that fucking city.
- 9:16Yeah, because I'm laughing because the first time we went there,
- 9:19right, it was like my first, like, really started to get that road experience.
- 9:23And I'm with Cole Black and Rick Polito and we pull up to this casino and this
- 9:31big ass, I don't know if you've ever seen One Void Over the Cuckoo's Nest,
- 9:36with Jack Nicholson and the big ass Indian dude that dude, look like him,
- 9:40was standing in front drinking a fucking,
- 9:43bottle of Budweiser and so I'm thinking like when I first seen it I'm thinking
- 9:46oh this shit's authentic, they got real because I've been to an Indian casino
- 9:51but I've never seen a real Indian at the Indian he can see.
- 9:53This is the first time. They taking this shit seriously.
- 9:56This is our territory. This is our property. This is our skin.
- 10:01So I got my bag and he's like, hey man, let me take your bag for you.
- 10:04So I'm like, yeah, I'm about to get him my bag to take the bag to the room.
- 10:08And then Rick is like, hey man, she doesn't work here. Yeah.
- 10:18Almost gotcha.
- 10:23He was like seven feet tall, too, bro. At that point, you got to be like,
- 10:26I guess you got it now. He's like, yeah, this is my luggage.
- 10:30You can't sit under my clothes. It's his now. Fuck it. Yeah.
- 10:33He was like, I'll help you. Oh, that was crazy. He just started laughing.
- 10:37And I said, oh, he's like, welcome to Winnemucca. I was like, God, damn.
- 10:42No, the reason why I want to ask about that is how you listed off all the comedians
- 10:46that was at Mikey's show like Sandu and... Oh yeah, Sandu was there too, yep.
- 10:51There's a strong, I feel like, a comedy scene up here.
- 10:55How do you feel it is when you just being able to build up here that you take your comedy on the road?
- 11:00It's dope because it gives you a good grounding. It's kind of like being from a good home.
- 11:05You go out in the world and realize that everybody's house ain't like your house.
- 11:08There's some shitty households out there. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:11Some shitty comedy scenes out there, you can tell there's much dissension in the ranks here.
- 11:16And since we come from a pretty much, we still have our issues,
- 11:19but it's a pretty well-balanced, nurturing comedy scene. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:23There's comedy supposed to help you.
- 11:25Even if they can't help you, they'll try to help you. You know what I'm saying?
- 11:28But there's comedy scenes where you're going and it's like, no, it's tooth and claw.
- 11:33They're fighting each other. Jealousy. Stealing jokes. Oh, man, crazy.
- 11:38I don't really want to put them places on blast, but you know who you are.
- 11:42Yeah no stop it cut it out no yeah i was yeah that's interesting because no i did.
- 11:49Just started going out hit it up like some comedy festivals last year hit up like baltimore,
- 11:54albuquerque and shit like that and for the most part i noticed that like they
- 11:59all have like like i said they all have their for at least the season that i
- 12:02went to and shit like those they had a dope ass comedy scene you could definitely
- 12:06tell like i feel like with sacramento just because we're like In California and shit like that,
- 12:10we have the luxury of being so close to going to L.A. and shit like that.
- 12:14With just us being diverse and stuff like that, we kind of, our jokes travel. What do you mean?
- 12:23Because we have such a diverse seat around wherever we go. Oh, okay.
- 12:26Okay, yeah, yeah. Okay, I get
- 12:28it. Yeah, that's true. They do travel well because we get a lot of looks.
- 12:33You know, we're not like pigeonholed. Like, you see every ethnic,
- 12:38most ethnic people are represented in Sacramento.
- 12:41This is one of the most diverse cities in the country. I think it's top 10. I know it was top five.
- 12:46It might be. I know it's top 10 for sure still.
- 12:50So, yeah, we know everybody. So, when you go somewhere, I'm not surprised. there's
- 12:53no crowd like oh i've never seen ukrainians no i have
- 12:56every day you know what i'm saying like there's no there's nothing
- 13:00where i'm like oh i can't what are they doing here i don't know what makes them
- 13:02laugh no i know the same shit makes everybody else laugh duh but
- 13:07the but back on the comedy scene that yeah we are fortunate sacramento comics
- 13:10we're watching this fortunate count your blessings you know i'm saying next
- 13:15time you see a comic at the mic just buy a random comic a beer just thankful
- 13:19that he's not an asshole like some of these comics are some of these other scenes, to each other.
- 13:25I'm not saying that I've necessarily been treated like that,
- 13:28but it's kind of like you ever been with a homeboy and he treat his girl like shit?
- 13:32It's like he's not treating you like shit, but you can tell this is a toxic
- 13:35relationship on both sides.
- 13:37You're like, this is uncomfortable being around. That's how I felt sometimes.
- 13:40I felt like witnessing some shit as an outsider, I shouldn't be seeing.
- 13:44Y'all should handle this somewhere else.
- 13:47Why are you doing this in front of me? I just got here. I can't help your career.
- 13:51So, you know what I'm saying? I can't destroy theirs like he wants to do so
- 13:54I don't know why he's saying this yeah it's weird uncomfortable as fuck yeah
- 13:58extremely stop that shit stop it stop it don't do it yeah I think the thing
- 14:03about it up here though too is because like we're like so close to LA they're
- 14:08such a strong like like we're able to like.
- 14:11When I went down to L.A. last year, I don't know. I'm going to try to get to
- 14:13the point. When I went down to L.A.
- 14:15Last year for comedy convention stuff, I've seen a lot of the comedians who
- 14:19was passed at these clubs and shit like that were comedians that was up here
- 14:22from the Bay Area, Sacramento, North California, stuff like that.
- 14:25And they were still being recognized from all these other comedians from across
- 14:28the country and shit like that.
- 14:30Oh, yeah. so being up here and stuff like that how you say like be happy
- 14:33like yeah it's competitive up here and stuff like that but
- 14:36it's for a reason because like not trying to like say not
- 14:39trying to shit on other cities stuff like that but like because we're so it's
- 14:42such close proximity to Hollywood like we have
- 14:45a chance to actually like blow up yeah hell
- 14:48yeah you know like it's there and we're
- 14:52close enough yeah but still far away
- 14:55enough to where it doesn't like you know
- 14:58what I'm saying like I don't even you're still able to get
- 15:00your have your own style stuff like that but when you go down
- 15:03there you're gonna hold your own right it definitely is
- 15:06there definitely is a presence down there i was
- 15:09fortunate enough this last summer to film
- 15:13for the west coast comedy gym and we filmed in la and there was a lot of shout
- 15:18out to all the companies like rico uh insane wayne lance woods jay rich tristan
- 15:26was down there right trist Tristan was down there. Yeah, Trist for sure.
- 15:29Enough said. Trist killed.
- 15:31That's what he was saying. He was on the podcast thing, like last month or something
- 15:33like that. He was talking about that. Trist beat the ass. I mean,
- 15:35I don't expect nothing less from Trist, man. He's a beast.
- 15:38And then who else did I see out there? I don't forget somebody. Oh, Jerry Long.
- 15:43So basically, there was a lot of, like, I was in the lobby at one point.
- 15:47I was in the lobby. And this is just coming from all over the place there.
- 15:50I was in the lobby and then I heard some comics talking like,
- 15:53man, they should just call this the Bay Area Comedy Jam. You know what I'm saying?
- 15:58And I started laughing to myself, like, pretty much because,
- 16:01I mean, we got it. We got it.
- 16:03This area, we get lumped in with the Bay. Once you leave Sacramento,
- 16:07for some reason, sometimes Sacramento still gets lumped in with the Bay Area.
- 16:11We're not the Bay Area. We don't say that.
- 16:14Nobody in Sacramento says that. Nobody in Sacramento says that.
- 16:17I mean, maybe a couple of lame-ass niggas said that shit in the 90s. Yeah.
- 16:22But we know better. We are Sacramento. And the Bay is a Bay,
- 16:26and it's like that's like our cousins you know what i'm saying like we we have
- 16:29it for them but that's still our cousin like we're not we don't live in the
- 16:31same household but we see each other at the center of union so yeah,
- 16:36yeah there was a lot so between sacramento i'll say
- 16:39northern california period just showed up
- 16:42and showed out and we yeah i was
- 16:45very proud of us and it made an impact you know
- 16:48so you can see people like all these companies they notice
- 16:51it they're like yeah but it's strong companies coming from this yeah sacrament
- 16:54we got look at sacramento sacramento is a small city
- 16:58like to have this much talent per
- 17:01capita yeah it's crazy you know i'm
- 17:03saying because it's not like we're we're just sacramental but we
- 17:06have like some of the best comedians around we
- 17:09have a great comedy scene i'm very proud of that like teller wise like if people
- 17:13wants to focus in on like what's like how like impactful the comedy scene is
- 17:19up here like a like doing like the tv and movie side it's like everybody's like
- 17:23wait but the hollywood gonna be the next hollywood show about like that but like,
- 17:27movies ain't where it's at up here and shit like i mean it's cool to do it from
- 17:30like you know you may get like a feature film up here maybe once or twice a
- 17:33year or something like that But the comedy scene, I'm like, you're getting A-list headliner,
- 17:38up here, either at Laughs Unlimited or The Punchline, every weekend.
- 17:43Yeah, every weekend. Consistently. Solid.
- 17:46It's a great place to be. Great clubs.
- 17:49I wish... It's the only thing I wish we had some more clubs.
- 17:54Like, real clubs. We've got two clubs. Yeah.
- 17:58Like, just pure comedy clubs, right? And I'm not leaving nobody out in my...
- 18:01No, because we used to have three. You used to be Tommy Tease up here. Right. Comedy is gone.
- 18:06So it's a punchline. It laughs. Yeah. I think we need one more.
- 18:09One more really just solid comedy club. Not a place that does comedy because
- 18:14there's a lot of places that have comedy that helps and we love and thank and
- 18:18are appreciative of the venues that allow comics to come in there and set up and do that thing.
- 18:23We appreciate the support, but
- 18:24to have a full on another comedy club out there, that'd be kind of dope.
- 18:28Where would you put it at?
- 18:32Downtown downtown downtown yeah i
- 18:34would put that i would like i would put something like right next to the kinks like if
- 18:37i could get something like right there on k street that's why i was thinking k street there's
- 18:40a comedy club on k street that can be really big even if
- 18:43one of the existing comedy clubs is opened up like
- 18:46i don't know i think that would be kind of dope to put because comedy
- 18:49is the comedy clubs are kind of like still tucked
- 18:53off you know what i'm saying like laughs unlimited dope that's
- 18:56that's my home club shout out to jenny and the whole staff there
- 18:59much love the punchline is is right
- 19:01there tucked off in arden and we don't have any comedy
- 19:04on the forefront that's just like that's just like right there like people could
- 19:07like yeah where you're gonna get people like no you will like get
- 19:10some people walking by at last but just because where it's tucked in
- 19:13at and stuff all like that right it's at the very end like if you're if you
- 19:17usually like last time this probably isn't one place where you can kind of like
- 19:20kind of do some like outside hey come on in but they're right at the end of
- 19:25the downtown so most times people are just get in the old sack and they just
- 19:29park their cars or they're on their way home.
- 19:32And then parking garage is like right across the street. So they're like,
- 19:35nah, you got to catch them like in the middle or somewhere while they're still hanging out.
- 19:39But you know, just putting it out there. Somebody wants to open them in the comedy club, you know.
- 19:43We're open for it. We love it. It's enough comedy to support it. Oh, comedy spot.
- 19:48Duh. Yeah, we got the comedy spot. Got comedy spot. We got stabbed.
- 19:52I feel like before the pandemic.
- 19:55Oh, yeah, I forgot. I forgot about stabbing comedy spots.
- 19:59You guys are comedy clubs. They do comedy. But I feel like before the pandemic,
- 20:03there was a surplus of comedy clubs because we had those ones.
- 20:09Tommy T's was open. Blacktop was open.
- 20:14Blacktop, yeah. Blacktop. And then shit, we had like three open mics every night and shit.
- 20:19You know, I don't think you have enough comedy, man. You can't.
- 20:22Because last time I got a comedy spot, the list was like 36 beats.
- 20:27Yeah and it was doing like i only heard of
- 20:30like four of them yeah i
- 20:33was like who are these people man there's always that
- 20:36wave that comes in every couple years or whatever you just like it's
- 20:39just this whole brand new wave like all at once like every now that you'll get
- 20:42like two comedians here there are three comedians but then you'll just get this
- 20:45whole big ass wave of fucking comedians you're all like we got a big wave after
- 20:49covid because everybody yeah we did everybody sat on lockdown and went on youtube
- 20:54and watched comedy all all locked down yeah i'm saying And they comedied out.
- 20:59So when they got up, they was like, I can do this. Yeah, yeah. All right.
- 21:03Out of all of them, how many are still left?
- 21:07About 75% are back working their day jobs full time with no aspirations to ever
- 21:13tell them the joke again.
- 21:14But that 25%, it's still like 50 fucking comedians.
- 21:17Yeah. There's still a lot of comedians. And that 25%,
- 21:20only 10% are palatable. The other ones just won't give the fuck up.
- 21:24They just out there still.
- 21:2810% so it's a, I mean, but, I mean, you gotta think, like, it's not,
- 21:33I'm not surprised because it's not an easy thing to do. No, it's hard.
- 21:35And it's not an easy field to get into.
- 21:37And the success part is, can be very elusive. You know? Yeah.
- 21:42That's, you gotta get to the part, you gotta define what does success look like to you. Right.
- 21:47Don't deny everybody else. Everybody else is going to be looking at you like,
- 21:50so when you headlight it, when you be in Hollywood, be like,
- 21:52hey, yo, I'm just trying to get off this depression right now. Yeah.
- 21:55I just paid my electric bill. I'm cool. I'm chilling.
- 21:59Yeah. I love it. I want to make more money.
- 22:03But I think everybody does. No matter what you do, you want to make more money.
- 22:06You want to maximize your time on earth. You only got a limited time to make
- 22:10money and then a very limited time to spend it while you can enjoy it.
- 22:15Like, what's the use of, like, spending your whole life making money?
- 22:19And then you get old, and now you financially, like, if you wait until you...
- 22:23You're financially stable. You got all these things in place where,
- 22:25like, if anything happens, you're like, all right, I'm good.
- 22:27But you're like, but now your stomach's fucked up. You can't even eat Mexican food.
- 22:30You know what I'm saying? Like, my goal in life is to have the money,
- 22:33but still have the youth to where, when I go different places in the world,
- 22:39I can eat their food without taking some kind of pills first.
- 22:42You know what I'm saying? I don't want to go to Spain and be like,
- 22:44oh, man, I'm on dietary constraints. I've got to stick to the salad. Yeah.
- 22:49I've got to eat at a certain time of the day because if not,
- 22:51this might be my day. Right. I'm on my medication. I can't drink no wine.
- 22:57No restrictions. No reservations. No reservations, man.
- 23:02So if you had to, what would be the name of your comedy club?
- 23:05If you had to put the comedy club here at K Street, what would be the name of
- 23:08your comedy club? Oh, man.
- 23:11The Choco Hut. the chuckle hut I don't know I never thought about that the boo boo I still have.
- 23:23Oh the baby Satchmo tonight come see Satchmo and the boo boo the comedy something,
- 23:33corner to be honest I don't think nobody cares what a comedy club is now,
- 23:38you know what I'm saying nobody's like oh we're going to put the name in the club.
- 23:43They don't care about that. I mean, Joe Rogan's just called The Mothership,
- 23:46which I think is a... I would have never thought about that in a million years,
- 23:50to be the name of a comedy club. A Mothership, yeah. It works.
- 23:53Especially with Joe Rogan. I'm like, yeah. He believes it to Ellie's and all
- 23:57this types of shit. Right. Mothership. Yeah, I don't know, man.
- 24:01I don't know if I was in my comedy. The Body Rides, the comedy.
- 24:03It wouldn't have my name in it, though. That's cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 24:08Because I would want to franchise it out and figure it in.
- 24:11So I wouldn't want to be nothing local because I would want to eventually possibly
- 24:17franchise it out. I wouldn't go all around the places and shit like that.
- 24:21You got something like, because we got the push so you got the setup or something like that.
- 24:24The setup? I think is there a place called the setup? I don't know.
- 24:27If there's not, I don't know out there, people.
- 24:30Somebody from the setup, if there is, we'll go call. We're going to take it.
- 24:32We're going to copyright it. It's all good.
- 24:34The setup is ours. The setup is dope.
- 24:37I like that. The callback, there's already a callback. I like that too,
- 24:41the callback that's a dope thing I don't know, I don't think about that.
- 24:47I'm putting thought into it like it's really going to happen like tomorrow we're
- 24:51going to come back to the next episode have a big ass business plan to set up
- 24:55a five year goal how to get to this fucking comedy club,
- 25:00how did you come up with the name for your album Get Rich With Diabetes Get
- 25:06Rich With Diabetes album those are my two choices in life bro.
- 25:10At that point, man, you'll either get rich or die be.
- 25:15Do you still feel that way? No, I'm definitely not getting rich. Okay.
- 25:24No, so I thought of it because I was a really big fan.
- 25:29Still am. I like 50 Cent album was one of my favorite albums.
- 25:32I like it because it's the whole story behind.
- 25:36He went through adversity and all the stuff he went through.
- 25:40So I was like, you know what, he didn't give up. So I was like,
- 25:42that's why I get richer. I said, well, we'll stop it being by trying to shoot.
- 25:46But they are trying to, you know, if I keep playing around, they are going to shoot me up against him.
- 25:52So it was kind of like a parody off that. You know, get richer,
- 25:56die, be easy, get richer, die, try.
- 25:58Okay. As a comedian, like as petty as 50 Cent B, like from a comedian standpoint,
- 26:04is that so shit you'd be like, yeah, like, do you have that in you?
- 26:07Like for like if a comedian if you feel like a comedian's all like stole like
- 26:11your joke and shit like that you gonna put like a comedian on blast and shit on like,
- 26:15I'm petty to a I'm petty to an extent you know what I'm saying but not like
- 26:19overly petty cause I don't have time of the day if I had unlimited money and
- 26:25I didn't have nothing to do and I could do what I wanted to do I could probably
- 26:28see me more petty but then also I probably wouldn't care cause I'm like I'm rich I don't care,
- 26:34but nah I like it I mean I get it I get what 50's coming from.
- 26:39And I respect it. That's it.
- 26:43Usually the people he's getting on have done something out of pocket.
- 26:47And they're just not used to people calling them out on their out of pocket.
- 26:50Every time you get out of pocket, you get what you get.
- 26:54I don't usually get to any kind of beefs with comedy.
- 27:00I came here to make people laugh, have a good time. Now, there is a certain
- 27:04part of the comedy scene right now I'm disappointed with.
- 27:07And it's these comics that are coming out being super racist for no reason.
- 27:12There's a particular lady out right now. Oh, you talking about that Twitter
- 27:14post or whatever about the Kendrick shit? Oh, yeah.
- 27:17Yeah, she's outlining for that. If y'all can listen, you know what I'm saying, then fuck you.
- 27:21You know what I'm saying? Like, that whole attitude is played out.
- 27:25You know what I'm saying? If that's all you can bring to the table.
- 27:28I don't personally need to see you at the table. That's not a table I want to eat at.
- 27:32Somebody like that is at the table because you don't need to do that.
- 27:35There's been a whole lot of comments that are racist you know what I'm saying
- 27:38but they still were funny at the end of the day.
- 27:40Yeah yeah there was a punchline to it. It's overt hatred you know what I'm saying
- 27:44like we can feel that it's not and then when you don't like that other comments
- 27:50that come in the defense like oh well you're just being a pussy you just don't
- 27:53you know what I'm saying.
- 27:54I believe in free speech but some words are expensive you know what I'm saying
- 27:58if you can't cover the tax don't say that shit you know what I'm saying like
- 28:02you can't say whatever you want.
- 28:04But then we're in time to say how we want. Yeah, you can't determine how somebody acts at.
- 28:09So if you're out there and you think it's funny, you think it's sweet,
- 28:11and you might find out the hard way that it's not.
- 28:15You know what I'm saying? If you prepare to pay that price for what you want to say, then okay.
- 28:19We had to pay the price for what we wanted to say this whole time.
- 28:23I just don't think it's I think it's messed up because right now,
- 28:29with the way the country's going with Trump and the way the Pox is going and President Timon. Yeah.
- 28:36With the chainsaw and shit? Goddamn, yeah. With all this going on.
- 28:40It seems like some people are just out here like they're like vultures just
- 28:43creeping in and feeding off the lowest common denominators of the culture.
- 28:48You know what I'm saying? If you're still out here in 2025, you're out here
- 28:51trying to be a Nazi, and you're still out here hating people because of the
- 28:54color of their skin, just based on that, I mean, play it out.
- 28:57Because the enemy, it doesn't care that you're white.
- 29:01He just cares that you're poor. Yeah. Yeah. You poor like me, we're in the same boat.
- 29:05Now, we can argue over who sits in the front or the back of the boat.
- 29:08But we on the boat. we on the same boat.
- 29:11You know what I'm saying? So let's try to, you know, let's work on that.
- 29:14So yeah, to all you guys out there still with that, yeah. Stop. Stop that. Cut it out.
- 29:19That's another thing too, because like, I feel like the, I don't fucking want
- 29:24to get too much into politics or whatever shit, but just the,
- 29:27you said what? I don't either. Yeah.
- 29:30It's not even like politics, it's just the times that were in this shit, you know?
- 29:33Like before, let's say like with Trump and his office, people was kind of like,
- 29:37it was like from the comedy seat aspect, people was like, oh,
- 29:41I just need to laugh. I just need to get out just to hear a laugh. I get to laugh.
- 29:43Where now I feel like you have these other people who are in power,
- 29:47like that lady who fucking put that Twitter post out and shit like that.
- 29:50It's not even like, they're like, I'm here to laugh at you now and shit.
- 29:53Rather than I'm here to give you these laughs, I'm here to laugh at you.
- 29:56Well, I don't even think that's what that is. Do we like... I think it's real
- 29:59hatred. Well, it is hatred, too.
- 30:00It's real. I think she really is, and she's really racist and she's found a venue.
- 30:05And she's not alone. There's lots of, there's other companies that are doing
- 30:08it. The Shock comic the edgy, edge lord.
- 30:11I don't care about all that. If you're funny, you're funny. And the thing is,
- 30:14what's cold about the whole thing is that I don't know this person personally,
- 30:18but what if they are really talented?
- 30:21And their talent that they really have is being overshadowing it because they're
- 30:26putting all this other stuff into it to try to get shocked they're missing a
- 30:30point. You know what I'm saying?
- 30:32And I think they use the fact that, well, I'm a comedian as a cop out to be
- 30:36just so overtly hateful. Right.
- 30:40Yeah. And it doesn't make any sense. I mean, but, but I mean,
- 30:43if that's what the route you want to go, just know that it comes with issues.
- 30:47Yeah. And you got to be prepared to deal with issues. No issues are between
- 30:50you and whatever God you believe in because you ain't going to get no help from me. Yeah. Ever. No.
- 30:58Get rocks, bitch. Mm. Show.
- 31:02Anyways, man, on a lighter note, we're going to switch it up a little bit and shit like that.
- 31:06So we're going to, this is a part of the show. I call it the Mount Rushmore.
- 31:11The Mount Rushmore, shit like that.
- 31:13Basically, what it is, is I have comedians. They come up or whatever.
- 31:17I give them something like that. You give them top four or whatever, stuff like that.
- 31:21Since your album is called Get Rich or Diabetes, I know you're a big foodie
- 31:25head out here in Sacramento.
- 31:26So I want you to give me your Top four Because we just got to talk about that
- 31:32racist bitch Give me your top four soul food spots out here in Sacramento Your
- 31:35top four black owned Oh okay yeah I have to go with Corey's Place,
- 31:41It's right across from Grant High School.
- 31:46Corey's Place Colos Oh shout out to Colos Hey Colos The good people from Colos,
- 31:54Never had a home forever I went there, and I got the gumbo, right?
- 31:58And I was like, you know, I was savoring it. So I was like, I wasn't eating,
- 32:01like, the crab and the sausage. I was just eating the juice and the rice and
- 32:05trying to make it last longer.
- 32:06And a brother at Odie walked by and said, hey, man, you want me to put some more juice on that?
- 32:11And I was like, how much that's going to cost? He's like, man,
- 32:13I'll just go and put some more juice on it. I said, what?
- 32:16I never had my gumbo rehydrated, bro. I was like, I love this place.
- 32:21You said rehydrated. Yeah, more juice. So yeah, shout out to Colos for that. That was...
- 32:29Two more. I don't know if Jimmy's counts as a sofa restaurant.
- 32:34It'll be black-owned. It'll gotta be sofa, but black-owned you go with that.
- 32:39I think it's called the Creole Kitchen. It's on Broadway. It's new.
- 32:43I went there. I enjoyed it thoroughly.
- 32:45And Fixins. And Fixins, yeah.
- 32:49I would say that's my... If somebody came to Sacramento and wanted Soul Food,
- 32:53I would recommend them to go to one of those places.
- 32:56And then Honorable Mention would be like they're not, I don't know if they're
- 33:00black owned, but like Saram Southern Kitchen is good. Oh, yeah.
- 33:04Which one? Stagecoach. Stagecoach is good, yeah. They kind of,
- 33:08but Stagecoach is still good.
- 33:11What else? I have stuff though, and it's weird because in Sacramento,
- 33:15most of the, oh, Louisiana Kitchen.
- 33:18Louisiana Kitchen too. We got a couple out there.
- 33:21So that, but that I'll rock with that Okay so we had Let's go through this It
- 33:26was Tories It was Colos Yep It was Who was the other two The last two Tories,
- 33:35Colos Tories Colos,
- 33:40Oh, Tories, Colos. You just said it. We just said it, too.
- 33:47We caught the itis and we forgot what we were saying and shit.
- 33:50Just thinking about all the soul food and shit.
- 33:53Oh, man. We have to rewind this. We have to.
- 33:58Tories, Colos. Damn. My brain is like... I remember the ones that we said, like Shorams.
- 34:04No, no. I remember all the honorable mentions.
- 34:09Whoever's watching this they're going to go back and watch it and stuff like that they'll see,
- 34:14I heard they shut down my shirt I hope not but Gumball King was dope I liked
- 34:20it but yeah definitely Taurus and yeah and Colos I mean that was a top two for me yeah.
- 34:29Oh no I did say Fixins and then the Creole Kitchen sorry Fixins y'all got some
- 34:35bomb ass Kool-Aid yeah the Kool-Aid of there. I'm not going to act like I don't
- 34:39know how y'all do that. Yeah.
- 34:41Shout out to Drew Burks over there too at the whole fucking,
- 34:44holding down the whole Oak Park Guild Theater.
- 34:47Yeah, he's like the deputy mayor or some shit. Yeah.
- 34:50He's got the whole the whole block and stuff like that. He's like with Stringer
- 34:56Bell when he was legit and shit like that.
- 34:58He's like, I'm here now. I got everything. Yeah, he's probably a pizza shop
- 35:02and talking about the theater. Yeah, everywhere.
- 35:05Drew Burks, yeah. And he always just fucking cheese it. What's up,
- 35:09fam? That's the dude right there. Shout out to fucking Drew.
- 35:13Cool, yeah. So then if people want to go to that spot, what would be a meal
- 35:16that you would recommend for people?
- 35:18For which one? Let's go with, let's start off with Torrey's.
- 35:21I like to smell the pork chops, personally.
- 35:24But their cornbread, you can't go wrong. They got the best cornbread,
- 35:27because they make the hot water cornbread, so like a pancake.
- 35:30Oh my god, yeah. I could go there and just get greens and cornbread and it'd be cool.
- 35:34Yeah, I love it. This is free promo for them, too. they about to get all this free promo shit.
- 35:40All fucking day. Because every time I go there, they treat me well.
- 35:43As a matter of fact, my mom used to work with them.
- 35:46But the owners, they used to all work for the phone company.
- 35:49My mom and her sisters they have this little annual not annual,
- 35:56every once in a while they have like a little they all go out to eat.
- 35:58And then they pick that place.
- 36:00And since they work with that lady, I think that's why they pick that.
- 36:04And we had a great lunch there. Oh, nice. Yeah, the catfish is good.
- 36:10Yeah, every southern place got to have their good catfish and shit.
- 36:14Yeah, I mean, I had nothing there that I didn't like. I was going to have nothing there.
- 36:17Everything I had that was decent. Or decent or very good. Yeah,
- 36:21yeah. And then what about Colos?
- 36:25Colos, the gumbo was fire. And the fried oysters. And the catfish.
- 36:30I mean, like, basically, like, they kind of do,
- 36:33Everything pretty good. I've never had no bad food at even one of these places.
- 36:38You know what I'm saying? But when it comes to soul food, I eat the same thing.
- 36:41So it's like if I go to Kola, I'm going to get a smothering pork chop in there too.
- 36:45You know what I'm saying? Or gumbo. Okay. So those of you who go to soul food
- 36:49meals and shit like that? Yeah, because I don't like cooking.
- 36:52I don't like smothering pork chops myself. It's too much work.
- 36:56Too much, yeah. Yeah, you got to fry them and then make the gravy.
- 36:59I don't know. I'd just rather have somebody. Yeah, just let me just door dash
- 37:02this shit. Yeah, let me get it. Yeah, for sure.
- 37:05But yeah, that'd be my... Sacramento, actually, me stepping up with soul food.
- 37:09I don't know if we've been struggling for a while, but... We got some good restaurants
- 37:13up here. We got some pretty good... We got some good food spots up here.
- 37:16No, we are one of the food... I think we're one of the top food cities in California. Honestly.
- 37:23Because we got a lot of dope restaurants out here. We're right...
- 37:26We're growing the food. We're right here.
- 37:29The farm to fork. Yeah, exactly. Even though I still City of Trees,
- 37:34I still want it on the back of the Water Tower. You can't have it all.
- 37:42For sure, my man. So you got any shows coming up before we do wrap up this episode?
- 37:46You got any shows coming up? Do you want to let people know you got going on before we do wrap it up?
- 37:50I'm kind of like taking it easy. March, I do have some stuff going on.
- 37:54I got a lot of stuff going on April, but March, I do have nothing really local.
- 38:00I'm doing a show and I think Union City.
- 38:05And then I'll just pop in. So I'm doing a lot of shows, but also I'm going to do in April.

- 39:01He was Macklemore's sound dude. Got a Grammy for that.

- 39:23And I didn't think they were coming to the show. I thought they were just concerned. You know, right?
- 39:27So at the show, this film crew in the middle, I'm in Red Bluff,
