- 0:19Speaker 1: Piglet go hunting and nearly catch a woozle. The piglet
- 0:25Speaker 1: lived in a very grand house in the middle of
- 0:28Speaker 1: a beech tree, and the beech tree was in the
- 0:31Speaker 1: middle of the forest, and the piglet lived in the
- 0:34Speaker 1: middle of the house. Next to his house was a
- 0:37Speaker 1: piece of broken board which had trespassers w on it.
- 0:43Speaker 1: When Christopher Robin asked the piglet what it meant, he
- 0:47Speaker 1: said it was his grandfather's name and had been in
- 0:50Speaker 1: the family for a long time. Christopher Robin said, you
- 0:54Speaker 1: couldn't be called trespassers w and piglet said yes, you could,
- 0:59Speaker 1: because his grandfather was and it was short for trespasser's
- 1:03Speaker 1: will which was short for trespassers William, and his grandfather
- 1:09Speaker 1: had had two names in case he lost one, Trespassers
- 1:13Speaker 1: after an uncle and William after trespassers.
- 1:18Speaker 2: I've got two names.
- 1:20Speaker 1: Said Christopher Robin carelessly.
- 1:23Speaker 3: Well, there you are.
- 1:25Speaker 1: That proves it, said Piglet. One fine winter's day, when
- 1:31Speaker 1: Piglet was brushing away the snow in front of his house,
- 1:34Speaker 1: he happened to look up and there was Winnie the Pooh.
- 1:39Speaker 1: Pooh was walking round and round in a circle, thinking
- 1:42Speaker 1: of something else, and when Piglet called to him, he
- 1:46Speaker 1: just went on walking. Hello, said Piglet.
- 1:51Speaker 3: What are you doing?
- 1:54Speaker 1: Hunting, said Pooh.
- 1:57Speaker 3: Hunting?
- 1:57Speaker 1: What trackings, said Winnie the Pooh, very mysteriously tracking, What,
- 2:06Speaker 1: said Piglet? Coming closer?
- 2:09Speaker 2: That's just what I ask myself, I asked myself.
- 2:13Speaker 3: What what do you think you answer?
- 2:17Speaker 1: I shall have to wait until I catch up with it,
- 2:19Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh. Now look there, He pointed to
- 2:24Speaker 1: the ground in front of him.
- 2:26Speaker 2: What do you see there?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Tracks, said Piglet.
- 2:32Speaker 3: Pull marks.
- 2:33Speaker 1: He gave a little squeak of excitement.
- 2:37Speaker 3: Oh, Pooh, do you think it's a a woofle?
- 2:41Speaker 1: It may be, said Pooh.
- 2:45Speaker 2: Sometimes it is and sometimes it isn't. You can never
- 2:49Speaker 2: tell with paw marks.
- 2:51Speaker 1: With these few words, he went on tracking, and Piglet,
- 2:56Speaker 1: after watching him for a minute or two, ran after him.
- 3:00Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh had come to a sudden stop and
- 3:03Speaker 1: was bending over the tracks in a puzzled sort of way.
- 3:07Speaker 1: What's the matter, asked Piglet.
- 3:11Speaker 2: It's a very funny thing, said Bear. But there seemed
- 3:15Speaker 2: to be two animals. Now, this whatever it was, has
- 3:20Speaker 2: been joined by another, whatever it is, and the two
- 3:24Speaker 2: of them are now proceeding in company. Would you mind
- 3:28Speaker 2: coming with me, Piglet, in case they turn out to
- 3:31Speaker 2: be hostile animals?
- 3:33Speaker 1: Piglet scratched his ear in a nice sort of way
- 3:37Speaker 1: and said that he had nothing to do until Friday
- 3:40Speaker 1: and would be delighted to come in case it really
- 3:43Speaker 1: was a woozle.
- 3:45Speaker 2: You mean, in case it really is two woozles.
- 3:50Speaker 1: Said Winnie the poo, and Piglet said that anyhow, he
- 3:54Speaker 1: had nothing to do until Friday, so off they went together.
- 4:00Speaker 1: There was a small spinny of large trees just here,
- 4:03Speaker 1: and it seemed as if the two woozls, if that
- 4:06Speaker 1: is what they were, had been going round this spinney.
- 4:11Speaker 1: So round this spinney went Pooh and Piglet after them,
- 4:15Speaker 1: Piglet passing the time by telling Pooh what his grandfather,
- 4:19Speaker 1: Trespasser's w had done to remove stiffness after tracking, and
- 4:25Speaker 1: how his grandfather Trespasser's w had suffered in his later
- 4:29Speaker 1: years from shortness of breath and other matters of interest,
- 4:34Speaker 1: and Pooh wondering what a grandfather was like, and if
- 4:37Speaker 1: perhaps this was two grandfathers they were after now, and
- 4:42Speaker 1: if so, whether he would be allowed to take one
- 4:45Speaker 1: home and keep it, and what Christopher Robin would say?
- 4:49Speaker 1: And still the tracks went on in front of them.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Suddenly Winnie the poo stopped and pointed excitedly in front
- 4:57Speaker 1: of him. Fook what said Piglet with a jump, And
- 5:04Speaker 1: then to show that he hadn't been frightened, he jumped
- 5:07Speaker 1: up and down once or twice more in an exercising
- 5:10Speaker 1: sort of way. The tracks said, Pooh, a.
- 5:15Speaker 2: Third animal has joined the other two.
- 5:19Speaker 1: Pooh, cried Piglet. Do you think it's another whoozl No, said.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Pooh, because it makes different marks. It is either two
- 5:31Speaker 2: woozles and one as it might be whizzle, or two
- 5:37Speaker 2: as it might be wizzles and one. If so it
- 5:41Speaker 2: is woozle, Let us continue to follow them.
- 5:46Speaker 1: So they went on, feeling just a little anxious now
- 5:51Speaker 1: in case the three animals in front of them were
- 5:53Speaker 1: of hostile intent and Piglet wished very much that his
- 5:58Speaker 1: grandfather t w were there instead of elsewhere, and Poo
- 6:03Speaker 1: thought how nice it would be if they met Christopher
- 6:06Speaker 1: Robin suddenly, but quite accidentally, and only because he liked
- 6:10Speaker 1: Christopher Robin so much. And then all of a sudden,
- 6:15Speaker 1: Winnie the Pooh stopped again and licked the tip of
- 6:18Speaker 1: his nose in a cooling manner, for he was feeling
- 6:22Speaker 1: more hot and anxious than ever in his life before.
- 6:26Speaker 1: There were four animals in front of.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Them, do you see, Piglet, look at their tracks, Three
- 6:34Speaker 2: as it were woozles, and one as it was whizzle.
- 6:40Speaker 2: Another woozle has joined them.
- 6:44Speaker 1: And so it seemed to be. There were the tracks
- 6:48Speaker 1: crossing over each other here, getting muddled up with each
- 6:52Speaker 1: other there, but quite plainly every now and then, the
- 6:57Speaker 1: tracks of four sets of paws. I think, said Piglet,
- 7:03Speaker 1: when he had licked the tip of his nose too,
- 7:06Speaker 1: and found that it brought very little comfort.
- 7:09Speaker 3: I think that I have just remembered something that I uh,
- 7:15Speaker 3: I have just remembered something that I forgot to do
- 7:18Speaker 3: yesterday and shan't be able to do it tomorrow. So
- 7:21Speaker 3: I suppose I really ought to get back and do
- 7:23Speaker 3: it now.
- 7:24Speaker 1: We'll do it this afternoon, and I'll come with you,
- 7:28Speaker 1: said Pooh.
- 7:29Speaker 3: It isn't the sort of thing that you can do
- 7:32Speaker 3: in the afternoon.
- 7:34Speaker 1: Said Piglet quickly.
- 7:36Speaker 3: It's a particular morning thing that has to be done
- 7:39Speaker 3: in the morning, and if possible, between the hours of
- 7:43Speaker 3: what would you say the time was?
- 7:46Speaker 1: I'm about twelve, said Winnie the Pooh, looking at the sun.
- 7:51Speaker 3: Between as I was saying, the hours of twelve and
- 7:55Speaker 3: twelve five. So, really, dear old Pooh, if you excuse me, what's.
- 7:59Speaker 1: The Pooh looked up at the sky, and then as
- 8:03Speaker 1: he heard the whistle again, he looked up into the
- 8:06Speaker 1: branches of a big oak tree, and then he saw
- 8:10Speaker 1: a friend of his.
- 8:12Speaker 2: It's Christopher Robin.
- 8:13Speaker 1: He said, Ah, then you'll be all right, said Piglet.
- 8:19Speaker 3: You'll be quite safe with him.
- 8:20Speaker 1: Good bye, and he trotted off home as quickly as
- 8:24Speaker 1: he could, very glad to be out of all danger again.
- 8:29Speaker 1: Christopher Robin came slowly down his tree.
- 8:33Speaker 2: Silly, old bear, he.
- 8:35Speaker 1: Said, what were you doing? First?
- 8:39Speaker 2: You went round the spinny twice by yourself, and then
- 8:42Speaker 2: Piglet ran after you, and you went round again together,
- 8:45Speaker 2: and then you were just going round a fourth time.
- 8:48Speaker 1: Wait a moment, said Winnie the Pooh, holding up his paw.
- 8:53Speaker 1: He sat down and thought in the most thoughtful way
- 8:57Speaker 1: he could think. Then he fitted his paw into one
- 9:01Speaker 1: of the tracks, and then he scratched his nose twice
- 9:05Speaker 1: and stood up. Yes, said Winnie the Pooh. I see now,
- 9:12Speaker 1: said Winnie the Pooh.
- 9:15Speaker 2: I have been foolish and deluded, said he, and I
- 9:20Speaker 2: am a bear of no brain at all.
- 9:23Speaker 1: You're the best bear in all the world, said Christopher
- 9:27Speaker 1: Robin soothingly. Am I said Pooh hopefully, and then he
- 9:33Speaker 1: brightened up suddenly.
- 9:36Speaker 2: Anyhow, he said, it is nearly luncheon time, so.
- 9:42Speaker 1: He went home for it. End of Chapter three.
