- 0:03Happy Thursday, Thanksgiving morning to everybody.
- 0:07Got the Macy's Day Parade on in the background.
- 0:11It's raining in New York. Al Roker interviewing somebody.
- 0:18All right, we're going to go outside.
- 0:21I'm thankful for the old crooked gutter.
- 0:23Let's go see the gutter. That gutter gave us so much.
- 0:27Look at that. That gutter gave us so much
- 0:32comedy relief. So let's talk about the gutter
- 0:35for a minute. It, it did not start like that.
- 0:38I think when the house got built, something from here on
- 0:42out settled a little bit. So myself and my dear friend
- 0:47Trevor Atwell, Atwell Exterior Services down there in North
- 0:52Carolina, We, we said, let's, let's fix it.
- 0:54I said, Trevor, he go, He goes, you're right.
- 0:58Let's not fix it. We cannot fix it, gutter.
- 1:01If we fixed it, then you all would have nothing to talk
- 1:03about. All right, Breaking news in the
- 1:08garage area. Macy's, Macy's, you know, up
- 1:14there in New York. Crazy story over the week,
- 1:19Macy's came out and said for this holiday season, we're not
- 1:23going to dress our storefront windows.
- 1:26You know, if you go up to New York, Kim and I have been there
- 1:29a lot for all the banquets and we love New York City.
- 1:33It's a lot of fun. Manhattan.
- 1:37So if you went around Macy's department store, you would see
- 1:42them dress up the department windows.
- 1:44Really good looking stuff in there.
- 1:46Come to find out, it must take a lot of money to whoa, it's cold
- 1:51out here, damn it. Cold out here, Herman.
- 1:54But Macy's says we're not going to do that this year.
- 1:58We've lost so much money. It's like, damn, you lost a lot
- 2:03of money, did you? So that was kind of a bummer.
- 2:07Well, then they let a whole week go by and this big article comes
- 2:11out and it says that one person, one Uno, one person hid Macy's
- 2:24lost $154 million. Now on Herman Schrader, myself
- 2:32and Kenny Schrader, we talked about this.
- 2:34I said, Schrader, how does one person in the accounting
- 2:38department hide that you lost $154,000,000?
- 2:44Schrader says, well, you just you got all these zeros and you
- 2:48just take him, move a decimal point.
- 2:51But I mean, come on, think about it.
- 2:54Is it that easy? Respond right here.
- 2:56Is it that easy to hide that a company lost $154,000,000?
- 3:03Can you do that? I just can't get over that.
- 3:06So the Macy's Day Parade is still going on, even though
- 3:11they've had a horrible last so many years and they've lost
- 3:14$154,000,000. They're not going to dress those
- 3:18windows up, but they're going to carry on with the Macy's Day
- 3:22Parade. Feel kind of bad for them up
- 3:24there. It's raining kind of Drew, We'll
- 3:29make it a happy day. It's all right.
- 3:32As as they say, this is the day. This is the day that the Lord
- 3:38has made, that the Lord has made.
- 3:41We will be glad. We will be glad and rejoice in
- 3:45it. This is the day that the Lord
- 3:48has made. Sing it with me.
- 3:50Everybody, I see you. I saw you start going, didn't
- 3:53you? OK, I thought long and hard.
- 3:58What we're going to talk about on coffee with King this
- 4:00morning. I want to tell you about my
- 4:03holiday memories. I want to tell you about my
- 4:05worst one first that I was not involved in.
- 4:08But when I was growing up as a child, I noticed on my dad's
- 4:12thigh, on his outside leg, right out here, right here, right
- 4:17there, there was a mark, like a round mark.
- 4:21And I said to my dad, I said, dad, what is that?
- 4:25Well, one Christmas Day downtown, you know, down in the
- 4:33city, dad saw a man stealing presents out of somebody's car.
- 4:39And dad went to, you know, be a Good Samaritan, be a good guy.
- 4:43Nowadays, you would say, oh, just don't get involved.
- 4:46Nowadays, you would say, don't get involved.
- 4:49Well, back in the day, people tried to do the right things.
- 4:52And my dad said, hey, buddy, quit stealing presents out of
- 4:57the car. And the guy shot my dad in the
- 4:59lake. Didn't see that story going
- 5:03there, did you? So I'm very thankful that my dad
- 5:08had a lot of years left on earth and I was born and, you know,
- 5:16very thankful. But that was down around Tower
- 5:18Grove, my my grandma Marie. So you know that that's where
- 5:26that happened down there off of Grand Grand Ave. in Saint Louis.
- 5:32Another great Thanksgiving memory.
- 5:35I have it and I understand things change because we all
- 5:38grow up and some people pass away.
- 5:39My dad's gone. Dad died October 30th, 2011.
- 5:44But I'm very thankful Dad lived and that bullet did not hit him
- 5:48anywhere else and we got a lot of years left with Dad until Dad
- 5:52died of a heart attack. My Uncle Gary, Uncle Gary, he's
- 5:58still alive. Him and Aunt Jane love them very
- 6:00much. Don't see them very much.
- 6:06Those were my greatest Thanksgiving memories.
- 6:10As a child, I would go over to Aunt Gary, Uncle Jane's, and a
- 6:14couple things would happen that I remember to this day.
- 6:18We'd all gather around and Uncle Gary can cut a mean Turkey.
- 6:22Uncle Gary, he would be the guy. You know, nowadays we try taking
- 6:27all these shortcuts, right? You know, the electric knife,
- 6:32just all these things. Well, Uncle Gary, we'd watch him
- 6:35cut the Turkey up, carve it up. We would watch Uncle Gary carve
- 6:39that Turkey up, and that was a big highlight into this day.
- 6:43I still have that in my memory. What a great memory as a kid,
- 6:49you know, our Wallace family, Dad Russ, mom Judy, brothers
- 6:54Rusty and Mike. We would go over to Uncle Gary's
- 6:56and it was a big time. But it just didn't stop there.
- 7:01My mom worked at Swank, Swank Motion Pictures and my job or my
- 7:08my mother's job, she inspected major motion films.
- 7:13So back in the day, you had, you know, the film.
- 7:17It was film. So, you know, damn, I'm cold.
- 7:21Herman, finish your story. When a film would go bad, When a
- 7:26major motion film would go bad, Mom would repair those films and
- 7:31then they'd go back to the movie theater.
- 7:33And once again, that was swipe motion pictures.
- 7:36So mom, that company would allow mom to to take a major motion
- 7:43film, bring it home. And after Uncle Gary got done
- 7:47cutting that Turkey and we would have Thanksgiving dinner, you
- 7:51know what we did? Mom had a screen and we would
- 7:55take it over there to Uncle Gary at Jane's cousin Timmy and and
- 8:00and Kelly and we would watch that major motion picture.
- 8:09All right, everybody, I hope you enjoyed my stories this morning.
- 8:12We talked about Macy's. We talked about dad getting shot
- 8:16down around Tower Grove down off grand.
- 8:20We talked about Uncle Gary carving that Turkey up and my
- 8:25dad and mom bringing that major motion picture home.
- 8:29So tell me your tell me your Thanksgiving memories.
- 8:32Let's make them happy. Hey, my dad lived.
- 8:35That was a happy story. close one.
- 8:39Happy Thanksgiving everyone.
