- 1:07Speaker 2: No?
- 1:07Speaker 4: Dan?
- 1:07Speaker 2: Yeah, Dan is off on a secret mission, so he
- 1:11Speaker 2: couldn't join us today. So, ladies and gentlemen, welcome to
- 1:15Speaker 2: Trek Cast, the Galaxy's most unpredictable Star Trek podcast. Unpredictably,
- 1:20Speaker 2: we don't have Dan today. It's just myself, Scott and
- 1:24Speaker 2: my co host, the guy who really runs the show, Daniel.
- 1:28Speaker 3: Going on, Yeah, so you had a holiday party yesterday, right, No,
- 1:36Speaker 3: I have a holiday party next week. Oh okay, okay,
- 1:40Speaker 3: I saw you talking about it or something, So me
- 1:45Speaker 3: holiday party.
- 1:47Speaker 2: Oh okay, whatever, I'm having some friends over next week.
- 1:50Speaker 2: But nice, yeah, okay, but no, I I might have
- 1:56Speaker 2: said something in the video I posted. I've been making
- 1:58Speaker 2: some charcouterie boards and uh nice, some of those are
- 2:01Speaker 2: going to be given away as gifts. So and then
- 2:04Speaker 2: I'm gonna sell.
- 2:04Speaker 3: I'm gonna sell the rest, okay, so right on, yeh yeah, yeah,
- 2:10Speaker 3: I've been Uh, I've been working on my script and
- 2:14Speaker 3: going to networking events and that's about it.
- 2:18Speaker 2: How's a script? Him along?
- 2:20Speaker 3: The script? The horror film is done. I'm working on
- 2:24Speaker 3: the next one. So that's and I recently won some
- 2:30Speaker 3: more awards. So I have won awards in five out
- 2:34Speaker 3: of the six competitions that I've been in. Oh wow, yeah,
- 2:39Speaker 3: so so far, so good.
- 2:42Speaker 2: Yeah. Just just don't forget your your Trek cast roots.
- 2:45Speaker 2: You know when when when your name's up in lights
- 2:47Speaker 2: and yeah.
- 2:49Speaker 3: We'll see about that. We'll see what.
- 2:52Speaker 2: That's a big leap, right right, So.
- 2:57Speaker 3: Well we should since it's just that when you get
- 3:00Speaker 3: to the news, let's.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Do it Star Trek News.
- 3:06Speaker 3: All right, So our first news story comes to us
- 3:09Speaker 3: from the Verge. I know that you saw it. We
- 3:15Speaker 3: got our new Star Trek thirty one or Section thirty
- 3:19Speaker 3: one official trailer. Yay, this is like the eighth official
- 3:25Speaker 3: trailer we've had.
- 3:26Speaker 5: Maybe, and this was more or less the the story trailer,
- 3:36Speaker 5: a little bit about what's going on, right, can't really
- 3:41Speaker 5: show it because Paramount likes to crack down on people.
- 3:45Speaker 3: Oh really, yeah, big time?
- 3:48Speaker 2: Why if you're a company, Okay, why would you want
- 3:50Speaker 2: to crack down on people sharing your trailer? I know,
- 3:53Speaker 2: I know, yeah, I mean I know Paramounts.
- 3:58Speaker 3: We're gonna get into Paramount a little bit later. It's
- 4:01Speaker 3: a it's a fun story.
- 4:03Speaker 2: Oh do we have Paramountain News?
- 4:05Speaker 3: We do, kind of kind of Oh okay, anyway.
- 4:08Speaker 2: What did you think about this trailer?
- 4:10Speaker 6: Ah?
- 4:11Speaker 3: I have more questions than answers, a lot more questions.
- 4:16Speaker 3: So you guys had hopefully you've seen the trailer, but
- 4:21Speaker 3: it starts out with Georgio is running some sort of
- 4:26Speaker 3: space station. Yeah, somebody comes to recruiter on a mission
- 4:33Speaker 3: and she basically gets recruited into Section thirty one. It
- 4:37Speaker 3: sounds like in the trailer because that's the way it's edited, right,
- 4:42Speaker 3: which is really weird. So I don't know if this
- 4:45Speaker 3: is going to be like a prequel trailer that shows
- 4:49Speaker 3: about how she got into section thirty one originally, and
- 4:54Speaker 3: then you know, we see that backstory, right, and then
- 4:57Speaker 3: we get caught up to where we're at now. But
- 5:03Speaker 3: you know, when we last saw her in Discovery, she
- 5:06Speaker 3: was taken off with the Guardian of the Edge of
- 5:09Speaker 3: Forever or whatever, and I thought that dude would be around,
- 5:15Speaker 3: but apparently.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I did too. See, I'm afraid I've got so many
- 5:19Speaker 2: complaints about this series of trailers.
- 5:22Speaker 3: I part.
- 5:24Speaker 2: I was disappointed in the trailer for a couple of reasons.
- 5:27Speaker 2: Number one, it seemed like it was just one action
- 5:29Speaker 2: shot after and after the next. Yeah, and it was.
- 5:32Speaker 2: It was kind of a barrage of you know, a
- 5:34Speaker 2: few lines of dialogue that tried to bring it into
- 5:37Speaker 2: the story. But you know, I had just earlier this week,
- 5:41Speaker 2: I had just watched the first teaser trailer to star
- 5:47Speaker 2: Trek First Contact m and the way that it was done,
- 5:53Speaker 2: even though I've seen that movie probably somewhere in the
- 5:57Speaker 2: neighborhood of nine hundred times. Yeah, it's that trailer. That
- 6:02Speaker 2: thirty year old trailer still drew me in, right, and
- 6:06Speaker 2: in a way that this trailer didn't draw me in.
- 6:09Speaker 2: It just it looked like a Star Wars trailer.
- 6:12Speaker 3: It made me think watching the trailer that I guarantee
- 6:16Speaker 3: at some point, in either a pitch meeting or some
- 6:20Speaker 3: sort of meeting at Paramount, somebody sat in a room
- 6:24Speaker 3: and said this is going to be our Guardians of
- 6:26Speaker 3: the Galaxy.
- 6:29Speaker 2: Yeah right, Yeah, it's well, And that makes sense because
- 6:36Speaker 2: what was Guardians of the Galaxy. Before Guardians of the
- 6:37Speaker 2: Galaxy came out, nobody really knew who they were, right,
- 6:41Speaker 2: It was kind of an odd ball kind of thing.
- 6:45Speaker 2: And to the very casual Star Trek fan, the one
- 6:49Speaker 2: that hasn't seen all the episodes, they might not know
- 6:52Speaker 2: who section thirty one is. You know, if you didn't
- 6:54Speaker 2: watch Je's Face nine, it might be lost on even
- 6:56Speaker 2: though they touched on it on several other series. Yeah,
- 7:00Speaker 2: it just I don't know. I'll watch it with, you know,
- 7:05Speaker 2: with my eyes open and hopefully an open heart, But
- 7:10Speaker 2: I don't know. I'm just not I'm hoping that I'm
- 7:13Speaker 2: surprised by the movie.
- 7:15Speaker 3: I hope to be pleasantly surprised, but I am prepared
- 7:20Speaker 3: for disappointment.
- 7:23Speaker 2: Yeah, a colossal disappointment. Yeah. Michelle Yoh is fantastic. She
- 7:31Speaker 2: was despite all the complaints we had in Discovery, she
- 7:34Speaker 2: was a a shining light in Discovery. She was The
- 7:38Speaker 2: way she portrayed, Uh portrayed her character was amazing. You know,
- 7:42Speaker 2: that vicious, sly anti hero.
- 7:49Speaker 3: She was always the most interesting character in the scene
- 7:52Speaker 3: when she was there.
- 7:54Speaker 2: Well, you're saying she was more interesting than Michael Burnham.
- 7:56Speaker 3: Yes, Hm, I don't know.
- 8:03Speaker 2: I I kind of wish Dan was here to lend
- 8:06Speaker 2: his opinion. What do you what do you think he
- 8:08Speaker 2: would say?
- 8:10Speaker 3: He would be like defending Michael his favorite.
- 8:12Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and not to put words in his mouth,
- 8:14Speaker 2: but I think his attitude probably has changed about Michael.
- 8:17Speaker 2: I think that Dan Lombardo probably embraces Michael now.
- 8:21Speaker 3: So you know, except for Michael's.
- 8:25Speaker 2: Exactly exactly She's she's She's got a special place in
- 8:29Speaker 2: his heart.
- 8:29Speaker 3: So indeed, all right, our next news story, I think
- 8:32Speaker 3: some people will be kind of happy about this news.
- 8:35Speaker 3: I kind of looked around for it and found this.
- 8:39Speaker 3: We have an update on the Orville season four Maybe
- 8:42Speaker 3: maybe maybe so. According to what is this website canceled
- 8:48Speaker 3: sci fi dot Com, they were tracking production Weekly. Production
- 8:54Speaker 3: Weekly is where people go and look for crewing jobs.
- 8:57Speaker 3: On TV shows and Weekly had updated on their site
- 9:03Speaker 3: different shows that need cruise, one of them being The
- 9:06Speaker 3: Orville season four.
- 9:08Speaker 7: Uh.
- 9:08Speaker 3: They also updated Agatha all Along season two, Earth or
- 9:14Speaker 3: Alien Earth, and a Harry Potter show.
- 9:17Speaker 2: So well, we all know that the Harry Potter Show
- 9:20Speaker 2: is coming out. I mean Agatha all Along was you know,
- 9:24Speaker 2: fairly possible received. So I don't know if if this
- 9:29Speaker 2: this other site, this you know, crewe other site, is
- 9:32Speaker 2: you know, reliable or predictable or if we know any
- 9:34Speaker 2: history on it, hopefully it's.
- 9:36Speaker 3: It's it's not the most reliable, but it's a good
- 9:40Speaker 3: set for kind of it's a good direction of where
- 9:44Speaker 3: they're going, right, right, so if they're starting to crew,
- 9:47Speaker 3: that probably means they're gonna do it, but it's not
- 9:50Speaker 3: a guarantee. Right things get shot and then never make
- 9:55Speaker 3: it to air.
- 9:57Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean Batgirl right right. That was an entire
- 10:01Speaker 2: completed movie, like shot, everything was done, edited.
- 10:08Speaker 3: Actme versus Wiley Coyote. That thing is done done like
- 10:12Speaker 3: it's edited. It is done.
- 10:15Speaker 2: I heard whisper no, I heard whispers about it, but
- 10:17Speaker 2: I didn't know what happened to it.
- 10:19Speaker 3: So they made a movie about the wily Coyote suing
- 10:23Speaker 3: the ACME Corporation for faulty equipment.
- 10:26Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, yeah, it was the CGI animated.
- 10:30Speaker 3: It's like Roger Rabbit. It's animated with people.
- 10:32Speaker 2: Oh that'd be fun.
- 10:34Speaker 3: Yeah, and it's got like all these celebrities in it
- 10:37Speaker 3: and it's done. And apparently people who have seen it,
- 10:39Speaker 3: they're like, this thing's great, like it. It should be
- 10:43Speaker 3: out in theaters. But Warner Brothers decided not forget it.
- 10:47Speaker 3: We're gonna take the tax right off instead.
- 10:50Speaker 2: Well I can understand them doing I can understand the
- 10:51Speaker 2: studio doing it if the movie sucks, right, you know,
- 10:55Speaker 2: like apparently Batgirl was just bad. Yeah, even though I
- 10:59Speaker 2: want to see it. But if it's good, then uh
- 11:02Speaker 2: huh Okay.
- 11:04Speaker 3: I like the idea that if if you're gonna write
- 11:07Speaker 3: off a movie and it's that complete, it should be
- 11:11Speaker 3: automatically public domain.
- 11:14Speaker 2: I like that idea too. Yeah.
- 11:17Speaker 3: Okay, you're not gonna make money on it, great, that's fine.
- 11:19Speaker 3: Release it and it's public domain. Yeah yeah, like not
- 11:23Speaker 3: the characters, like you still own those copyrights, but the
- 11:26Speaker 3: actual film itself, just.
- 11:28Speaker 2: So that people can see it, right, Yeah, you know,
- 11:31Speaker 2: not make money off of it, but yeah, let them
- 11:33Speaker 2: have the tax right off. But that should be a
- 11:35Speaker 2: stipulation in the tax right off. It should be you know,
- 11:37Speaker 2: you're using tax payers money, it should belong to the
- 11:40Speaker 2: PAXT taxpayers exactly.
- 11:43Speaker 3: So all right.
- 11:45Speaker 2: All right, I'll start my letter writing campaign.
- 11:46Speaker 3: There you go, we'll get on change dot org. Our
- 11:50Speaker 3: next news story comes to us from CBS News. I
- 11:54Speaker 3: thought this was one it's too bad dance not here
- 11:56Speaker 3: because this hits from New York. Know the big news
- 12:00Speaker 3: story in New York this week?
- 12:01Speaker 2: Right?
- 12:02Speaker 3: Uh yeah, No, yeah, not this one. Not a New
- 12:08Speaker 3: York woman who blames Star Trek license plates for tens
- 12:11Speaker 3: of thousands of accidental dollars in accidental tickets. Oh no, so,
- 12:18Speaker 3: long time ago, she had personalized plates that said NCC's
- 12:24Speaker 3: seventeen oh one. Right, she has since given up driving,
- 12:29Speaker 3: returned to her plates. She doesn't drive anymore at all,
- 12:32Speaker 3: hasn't for years. Right, But peoples make these plates as
- 12:38Speaker 3: novelty plates all around the country. And uh yeah, so
- 12:43Speaker 3: she gets tickets for people who driving around with these
- 12:47Speaker 3: novelty plates. Gets the no. Yeah, she's able to fight
- 12:52Speaker 3: them off pretty easily, but she still gets them all
- 12:55Speaker 3: the way New York or traffic I forget what it
- 12:59Speaker 3: was called. Department. It says there's nothing in their computer
- 13:03Speaker 3: that ties her to that plate anymore because she's given
- 13:06Speaker 3: it up. So they don't know why she keeps getting
- 13:09Speaker 3: all these tickets, but she's getting them.
- 13:13Speaker 2: Yeah, we'll have to ask q y starflee security.
- 13:16Speaker 3: So it's more of a funny annoyance than anything, right,
- 13:20Speaker 3: But yeah, it just keeps happening.
- 13:23Speaker 2: So yeah, I've always thought about, you know, a cool
- 13:27Speaker 2: license plate like that, like just seventeen oh one or
- 13:29Speaker 2: seventeen oh one D or something like that, and it's
- 13:31Speaker 2: like it's too damn recognizable, too damn ubiquitous. You know.
- 13:36Speaker 2: I don't want my license plate to be something that
- 13:39Speaker 2: you know is out there.
- 13:41Speaker 3: Yeah yeah, I always think of the uh was it
- 13:46Speaker 3: Ferris Bueller that had the license plate? So cool?
- 13:51Speaker 2: Was it? Yeah? That right? Right? So cool? Yeah? Yeah yeah.
- 13:58Speaker 2: Oh it's like a California license plate that says out
- 14:00Speaker 2: of time, right right?
- 14:02Speaker 3: You know, well, what would you get on your vanity plates?
- 14:08Speaker 2: I mean it would it'd have to be like if
- 14:10Speaker 2: I if I was doing like a front license plate
- 14:12Speaker 2: that could be anything it wanted to, I'd probably get
- 14:15Speaker 2: like an out of time California plate. And you know,
- 14:18Speaker 2: if I were to do a vanity plate in the
- 14:20Speaker 2: my my Michigan license plate, you know, it would probably
- 14:22Speaker 2: be something along the lines of NCC on seven O
- 14:26Speaker 2: one D or you know.
- 14:28Speaker 3: You like go blue or no.
- 14:30Speaker 2: I mean, you know, yeah, I'm a I'm a I'm
- 14:35Speaker 2: a Michigan fan. I'm a Lions fan. I'm you know,
- 14:37Speaker 2: but but i'm you know, those those don't represent what right,
- 14:43Speaker 2: you know, the ideals that I hold true and things
- 14:45Speaker 2: like that. So I'm just a fan with Star Trek.
- 14:48Speaker 2: I think it's I'm I'm I was gonna say, what's
- 14:52Speaker 2: more than a fan of fanatic? I'm not a fanatic.
- 14:54Speaker 2: I'm just a bigger fan.
- 15:01Speaker 3: I think they met watching DS nine. Now the founder's lady,
- 15:05Speaker 3: the founder, the founder lady's face is peeling. Oh nice,
- 15:10Speaker 3: I know the part.
- 15:11Speaker 2: Yeah that was Zeno griff right, yeah, yeah, what's up?
- 15:15Speaker 3: Yeah? And then our last news story, this is just
- 15:18Speaker 3: real quick. It's from Variety and normally I wouldn't bring
- 15:22Speaker 3: this up, but they mentioned Paramount in it. So WWE
- 15:27Speaker 3: is going to Netflix starting at the start of the
- 15:30Speaker 3: new year. So they have this big event talking about
- 15:32Speaker 3: how excited they are to be live streaming on Netflix
- 15:35Speaker 3: starting next year. And in the middle of it, they
- 15:39Speaker 3: were talking about the history of WWE on different broadcasters,
- 15:43Speaker 3: and they used to be on what was called the
- 15:46Speaker 3: Nashville Network, which became Spike Tvah, yeah, which then became
- 15:50Speaker 3: the Paramount Network.
- 15:52Speaker 2: And so that's why happened to Spike TV. I didn't
- 15:56Speaker 2: realize that.
- 15:57Speaker 3: Yeah. So Paulavec aka Triple eight, former ww champion, who's
- 16:03Speaker 3: now the executive at at w W, said to quote
- 16:09Speaker 3: a Spike which is now Paramount, which is now wholly irrelevant,
- 16:13Speaker 3: and then they went on to make a few more
- 16:14Speaker 3: digs at Paramount. From what I understand, Wow, just because
- 16:19Speaker 3: they were asked like, when you were deciding to go
- 16:21Speaker 3: with Netflix or any other streamers in the running, They're like, well,
- 16:26Speaker 3: Peacock was because we they they've worked with NBC for
- 16:29Speaker 3: a long time, so you know that that relationship there.
- 16:32Speaker 3: They had talked with Peacock. But but they were like, yeah,
- 16:37Speaker 3: pretty much nobody else. And then they were like, well
- 16:40Speaker 3: what about Paramount. No, they're they're just nobody cares.
- 16:45Speaker 2: So see that's said you know Paramount, you know, Paramount
- 16:49Speaker 2: is affiliated with CBS, and CBS used to be one
- 16:51Speaker 2: of the big networks and they're they're they're the small
- 16:56Speaker 2: fish now Paramounts kind of you know, the little brother.
- 17:01Speaker 3: Well, and then Paramount for a long time has been
- 17:04Speaker 3: known as they demographically target older people, right, all those
- 17:10Speaker 3: ncis and all those police procedurals they appeal to more
- 17:15Speaker 3: like fifty pluses. I think that is what it is.
- 17:18Speaker 3: And that group really doesn't go with streaming that often.
- 17:22Speaker 3: They're more broadcast and yeah, so that's the other reason
- 17:28Speaker 3: why Paramount streaming is not as big as the others.
- 17:33Speaker 2: So, okay, well, I hope they get the crap together,
- 17:38Speaker 2: I really do.
- 17:39Speaker 3: You know, maybe when the new boss comes, we'll.
- 17:41Speaker 2: See, because the future of Star Trek is sort of
- 17:45Speaker 2: kind of up in the air right now.
- 17:46Speaker 3: Yeah, a little bit. It's it's kind of sad. Well,
- 17:51Speaker 3: let's get to our main topic. Or do you have
- 17:55Speaker 3: anything else you want to bring up?
- 17:58Speaker 2: Gee? Let me think?
- 17:59Speaker 3: No, okay, the fun will now comment? Oh I just
- 18:08Speaker 3: burn my tongue.
- 18:12Speaker 2: Do you need me to take over?
- 18:15Speaker 3: Please go?
- 18:18Speaker 2: Well, we are talking about so let's see, we're talking
- 18:22Speaker 2: about lower Star Trek lower decks. This would be what
- 18:26Speaker 2: season five episode eight. The episode is called Upper Decks.
- 18:31Speaker 2: The tagline is very very misleading. The tagline is the
- 18:35Speaker 2: lower deckers have a pumpkin carving party. I mean that happens,
- 18:40Speaker 2: That did happen. But the taglines, especially on IMDb, are
- 18:44Speaker 2: usually a little bit misleading. This episode was not about
- 18:47Speaker 2: the lower deckers at all. This episode was about the
- 18:51Speaker 2: the upper deckers.
- 18:53Speaker 3: This was our random episode.
- 18:55Speaker 2: Yep, this was our random episode. Yeah, I uh, I
- 19:02Speaker 2: liked the episode. I'm looking at like plot summaries from
- 19:06Speaker 2: different websites and yeah, they're just not They're not one
- 19:11Speaker 2: thing I've noticed, right right, So, like it was a it.
- 19:17Speaker 3: Was a weird episode, like they were negotiating some sort
- 19:20Speaker 3: of like agreements or diplomatic thing with the with the
- 19:25Speaker 3: rais of people. No, no, no, they were moving.
- 19:28Speaker 2: The animals, the animals, the space cows, the space cows.
- 19:32Speaker 3: Yeah, they were moving those things what off off a
- 19:35Speaker 3: planet or off some space debris something.
- 19:39Speaker 2: Yeah, so they had to get the space cows. They
- 19:43Speaker 2: were moving the space cows around, and then there was
- 19:45Speaker 2: another group, another group of aliens that wanted to hijack
- 19:49Speaker 2: the space cows for their right now, yeah, the the
- 19:55Speaker 2: insectoid they're an insectoid species who uh uh don't not
- 20:01Speaker 2: only don't like it, but like are repulsed repelled by compliments, right. Right.
- 20:09Speaker 3: But but the space cows they have like a biological cloak, right,
- 20:15Speaker 3: It's part of what their natural defenses, and these guys
- 20:20Speaker 3: want that for some reason. Right, So they're trying to
- 20:24Speaker 3: get the cows. The the Crito's crew is trying to
- 20:29Speaker 3: protect the cows, and hilarity ensues.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Yeah, there's there's a lot of callbacks here. That lieutenant
- 20:37Speaker 2: right there, the lieutenant that plays the tuba, she gets
- 20:41Speaker 2: a uh they call it a zerta pathogen, which I'm well,
- 20:49Speaker 2: they said she de evolved and evolved at the same time, right,
- 20:54Speaker 2: So they're they're they're talking about it's it's from the
- 20:57Speaker 2: episode Genesis from the Next Generation where the crew evolves, right.
- 21:02Speaker 2: But also, yeah, they could I'm reading this from IMDb.
- 21:08Speaker 4: Uh.
- 21:09Speaker 2: The first thing that it's it's calling back to is
- 21:12Speaker 2: from Genesis. It caused a condition Doctor Crusher named Barkley's
- 21:15Speaker 2: protamorphosis syndrome. That's when the crew devolved because of synthetic
- 21:19Speaker 2: t salt cells and all that kind of stuff. And
- 21:24Speaker 2: then it also says that the Voyage. The Voyager episode Threshold,
- 21:30Speaker 2: which is widely considered to be one of the worst episodes,
- 21:33Speaker 2: but sure is also a call. It was also a
- 21:38Speaker 2: callback to, so that if if you don't remember that
- 21:42Speaker 2: Voyager episode, that's the episode where they break warp ten,
- 21:45Speaker 2: which is physically, theoretically and spiritually not you can't do so.
- 21:53Speaker 3: See because so many people talk about it. I don't
- 21:57Speaker 3: think it's one of the worst episodes, right, Okay, yeah,
- 22:01Speaker 3: I think the one where where is boxing is probably
- 22:06Speaker 3: the worst or whatever, the worst.
- 22:08Speaker 2: Because that's bad to watch and we don't talk about it.
- 22:10Speaker 3: Right and nobody talks about it. Yeah?
- 22:14Speaker 2: Yeah, the the one where they oh, that's also the
- 22:17Speaker 2: one where, uh isn't that the one where Paris and
- 22:21Speaker 2: Jane Way turn into lizard slugs and have a baby.
- 22:26Speaker 3: That's that's threshold.
- 22:29Speaker 2: Yeah, that's Threshold. Okay, yeah, okay, Just so we have
- 22:33Speaker 2: our ever horrible Voiagure episodes down.
- 22:37Speaker 7: So.
- 22:38Speaker 2: Uh that. Yeah, that lieutenant is able to save the
- 22:41Speaker 2: day because she's also kind of strong and she plays
- 22:43Speaker 2: the tuba for the captain. The captain is also kind
- 22:46Speaker 2: of having a data's day. She's going around doing her
- 22:49Speaker 2: captain thing and uh, I think it's lieutenant. Is a
- 22:52Speaker 2: commander Billups, the chief engineer. Is that the one that's
- 22:57Speaker 2: taken who's taken her around? It's a lieutenant that's taking
- 23:03Speaker 2: her around on her daily duties. Do you remember who
- 23:05Speaker 2: that is?
- 23:06Speaker 3: Oh? I don't remember. Yeah, it's Billups, third is okay, yeah.
- 23:13Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, so going around and there you know she's
- 23:19Speaker 2: doing her you know, daily duties on on the Soritos.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Huh and you know, hilarity.
- 23:26Speaker 3: Her husband shows up to surprise her. Yeah.
- 23:29Speaker 2: I thought that was kind of cool.
- 23:31Speaker 3: Yeah, and Mariners like, what are you talking about? My
- 23:33Speaker 3: dad's here.
- 23:35Speaker 2: Right right right? Yeah, that's uh. Alonzo Freeman that was
- 23:40Speaker 2: voiced by Phil Lamar has done a lot of voiceover stuff. Tons, tons.
- 23:48Speaker 3: I like that the beards are getting bigger with with
- 23:51Speaker 3: Boemler in Rufford.
- 23:53Speaker 2: Yeah, it's starting to fill it a little bit a
- 23:55Speaker 2: little bit, a little bit so he's sort of got that.
- 24:00Speaker 2: He sort of got a go tee thing going on,
- 24:03Speaker 2: and this episode looks.
- 24:04Speaker 3: Like, yeah, a little bit. Yeah, So getting more shaggy
- 24:07Speaker 3: for sure.
- 24:08Speaker 2: Right yeah. And then the first officer of the Soritos
- 24:17Speaker 2: Ransom is in charge of some of the lower deckers,
- 24:20Speaker 2: not our lower deckers, but like a group of random
- 24:23Speaker 2: lower deckers from like Beta and Camra Shift, and they
- 24:27Speaker 2: have to work together to be able to take take
- 24:30Speaker 2: control of the situations on the Critos. And Ransom is
- 24:33Speaker 2: using his different style to bring the cadets together because
- 24:39Speaker 2: the two shifts aren't getting along. So in the end
- 24:41Speaker 2: he's able to, you know, by pretending to be an idiot,
- 24:46Speaker 2: get the two lower deck shifts to work together.
- 24:52Speaker 3: It feels like there was so many weird little things
- 24:55Speaker 3: going on, right, Like you had you had tracks like
- 24:58Speaker 3: trying to better himself in some weird way through meditation,
- 25:04Speaker 3: you know.
- 25:04Speaker 2: Yeah, Yeah, he was going through a weird thing where
- 25:08Speaker 2: his his uh ethereal projection was, yeah, trying to fight
- 25:14Speaker 2: him and he also used his zen like awareness to
- 25:19Speaker 2: to fight off the insectoids.
- 25:22Speaker 3: Yeah, and you had the the cat doctor trying to
- 25:25Speaker 3: look for new levels of pain.
- 25:28Speaker 2: Right because there was a lot of Yeah, there was
- 25:30Speaker 2: complaints on on the ship that her bedside manner specifically
- 25:35Speaker 2: when it came to anesthesia was a little bit lacking.
- 25:39Speaker 3: But what I'm getting at is it almost feels like
- 25:42Speaker 3: they they just took all of their ideas that they
- 25:45Speaker 3: kind of liked that they could never really get one
- 25:49Speaker 3: full episode of and they just went, screw it, we'll
- 25:51Speaker 3: throw it in that one episode.
- 25:53Speaker 2: You know. Yeah, that's that's called On the Office Ladies podcast,
- 25:59Speaker 2: they call those candy bags. Stuff you get out of
- 26:02Speaker 2: the candy bag, so like they'll they on the Office
- 26:05Speaker 2: Ladies podcast was a podcast about the office. They talk
- 26:08Speaker 2: about when they're when they're you know, doing a show
- 26:11Speaker 2: and they're trying to fill in stuff in a particular episode,
- 26:14Speaker 2: they'll grab from the candy bag of different story ideas,
- 26:18Speaker 2: like short story ideas, and yeah, you're right, that's what
- 26:21Speaker 2: it felt like that they were like, let's just grab
- 26:23Speaker 2: the candy bag and just pull a bunch of crap
- 26:25Speaker 2: out of that and throw it.
- 26:26Speaker 3: Yeah, none of it really linked together, really, no, not
- 26:30Speaker 3: at all, little bits, you know, not at all. Oh no,
- 26:35Speaker 3: Zeno group, don't mention my furnace went out last Sunday.
- 26:39Speaker 3: Me and the dog staying warm, honkering down for the
- 26:41Speaker 3: Michigan weather, Oh no, oh no.
- 26:45Speaker 2: Yeah, well it should be getting a little bit warmer
- 26:47Speaker 2: depending on where Michigan you live. But uh yeah, it's
- 26:50Speaker 2: it was a lot of snow last week.
- 26:52Speaker 3: But man, yeah, overall, like I thought this episode was,
- 26:59Speaker 3: you know, had entertaining moments.
- 27:02Speaker 2: Oh yeah, you know the coffee face nine. Oh yeah,
- 27:09Speaker 2: the coffee cup that he has, it's the same it's
- 27:11Speaker 2: the same style coffee cup that they have on d
- 27:15Speaker 2: S nine.
- 27:16Speaker 3: Oh yeah.
- 27:17Speaker 2: Lots of the scene right here where they do the
- 27:20Speaker 2: little hands together. Yeah, yeahs forever one, two three.
- 27:28Speaker 3: It's just a bunch of weird little bits.
- 27:30Speaker 2: It's so silly. Yeah, it's so silly. Yeah, I'm telling you.
- 27:37Speaker 2: The more I see the silliness of this, the more
- 27:39Speaker 2: I keep thinking, my my theory for the final episode
- 27:42Speaker 2: is gonna come true. Somebody in live action is gonna
- 27:45Speaker 2: gonna come on screen talking to somebody else and saying, yeah,
- 27:48Speaker 2: it took some creative liberties with the story, but that's
- 27:51Speaker 2: pretty much how it happened.
- 27:53Speaker 3: Ty J says it's funny that the show really hasn't
- 27:56Speaker 3: furthered the main story much at all. Yeah. I don't
- 27:58Speaker 3: think there's much to the main story. That's why.
- 28:01Speaker 2: No, he's absolutely right. Yeah, it doesn't seem like they're
- 28:06Speaker 2: you know, there's a there's been these hints of all that.
- 28:11Speaker 2: What fish, what are the fissures? Yeah? Yeah, but which
- 28:15Speaker 2: next week.
- 28:16Speaker 3: It's next week's episode is called Fissu Request, and the
- 28:19Speaker 3: little tagline we have is the fissures must be closed
- 28:23Speaker 3: before they get inflamed. So I guess we'll start to
- 28:26Speaker 3: see more.
- 28:28Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, I'm wondering if they're trying to tie
- 28:36Speaker 2: this up. See, I'm hoping they don't. They didn't fall
- 28:39Speaker 2: into a situation where the writers didn't realize that this
- 28:42Speaker 2: was gonna be the final season until like, you know, late,
- 28:45Speaker 2: kind of too late.
- 28:47Speaker 3: Oh yeah, I don't know.
- 28:48Speaker 2: Yeah, like, oh, by the way, guys, you have to
- 28:51Speaker 2: wrap this up in five episodes? What right? Yeah?
- 28:55Speaker 3: I don't, I don't know, but you can definitely tell
- 29:02Speaker 3: like they're on their last legs. That's what it feels like.
- 29:05Speaker 2: Yeah, you know, before we were kind of like disappointed
- 29:08Speaker 2: that this was coming to an end, and now it's like.
- 29:11Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 29:17Speaker 2: Unfortunately, why yeah, unfortunately why? But it's so fun. I'm
- 29:21Speaker 2: still you know, I'm watching the episode. I watch every
- 29:23Speaker 2: episode of Lower dex wise, you know, the first time,
- 29:26Speaker 2: just to enjoy it. In the second time, just to
- 29:27Speaker 2: kind of take some mental notes.
- 29:28Speaker 3: But you know, I should mention I posted in the group,
- 29:32Speaker 3: uh for those of you that love lower decks. There's
- 29:36Speaker 3: a YouTube channel called Red Letter Media. They kind of
- 29:39Speaker 3: review movies, like especially crappy movies, and they did a
- 29:44Speaker 3: review this week of Galaxy Quest, and as part of
- 29:49Speaker 3: their review, they had Boimler himself Chack Quaid with them
- 29:54Speaker 3: to review Galaxy Quest. Really yeah, he does mention being
- 30:00Speaker 3: on Star Trek and he talks a little bit about
- 30:02Speaker 3: this Star Trek perspective of Galaxy Quest.
- 30:06Speaker 2: So okay, okay, so.
- 30:08Speaker 3: It's pretty neat, you know, well, ty j, I'd rather
- 30:15Speaker 3: watch more of this than section thirty one. Yeah, we
- 30:18Speaker 3: don't know that for sure yet.
- 30:20Speaker 2: Well, I guess we're gonna have to find out.
- 30:22Speaker 3: Yeah, we're hoping to be surprised. We don't think it'll happen,
- 30:26Speaker 3: but we're open.
- 30:28Speaker 2: I don't know. I it just doesn't from looking at
- 30:33Speaker 2: the previews and the storyline, and I just hope it's
- 30:37Speaker 2: Star Trek. Hey, above all else, I hope it's Star Trek.
- 30:41Speaker 3: If Triple H is to be believed, Paramount is irrelevant.
- 30:44Speaker 3: So yeah, yeh.
- 30:47Speaker 2: And Cannon is just a suggestion, and that's right, that's right,
- 30:51Speaker 2: just throw it all out the window.
- 30:53Speaker 3: Yeah, my head, Canyon is it's all good.
- 30:57Speaker 2: It's all good. Yeah. Is Rutherford still growing the beard?
- 31:04Speaker 2: I know you mentioned that earlier? Is he Do we
- 31:06Speaker 2: have a shot of him?
- 31:06Speaker 3: I mean it's kind of like a five o'clock shadow, Okay,
- 31:09Speaker 3: but that's you know, they're mainly focused on Boimler.
- 31:13Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 31:14Speaker 3: So, oh I didn't notice that in the background that
- 31:19Speaker 3: the lady is evolving into the or devolving into the
- 31:22Speaker 3: monkey person.
- 31:24Speaker 2: Yeah right, yeah, she's she's de evolving and evolving at
- 31:27Speaker 2: the same time. So she's she can read minds, but
- 31:31Speaker 2: she's also afraid of open flame.
- 31:33Speaker 3: Right right.
- 31:34Speaker 2: Yeah, so that's how that's how the cat doctor was
- 31:38Speaker 2: able to get her to calm down. She imagined a candle, Okay,
- 31:43Speaker 2: so the ape lady could read her mind of the
- 31:47Speaker 2: candle and be scared of the.
- 31:48Speaker 3: Flame, right right. That's kunny.
- 31:51Speaker 2: Can you imagine Doctor Crusher doing this?
- 31:53Speaker 4: No?
- 31:54Speaker 3: No, no, oh gosh yeah. Oh. Also, in that that
- 32:04Speaker 3: red letter media thing Jack Quaid talked about when we
- 32:09Speaker 3: saw him out in Chicago and they were in uniform.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Uh huh.
- 32:14Speaker 3: He talked about that situation. Nice. Why they did that?
- 32:17Speaker 2: So nice? It's kind of cool, But you know, I'm
- 32:21Speaker 2: gonna have to look at go back to pictures because
- 32:24Speaker 2: I'd like to compare. Do we have pictures? That was
- 32:29Speaker 2: the first that that Chicago Comic Con twenty twenty two
- 32:31Speaker 2: was the first time that I had met you guys
- 32:33Speaker 2: in person. Yep. And we went to that panel, and
- 32:37Speaker 2: you're right they for those who don't remember, Uh, we
- 32:40Speaker 2: went to the panel, the Lower Decks panel, and it
- 32:43Speaker 2: was it was Boemler, it was Mayrin, it was tind
- 32:54Speaker 2: with in green face paint. Yeah, okay here and and
- 33:00Speaker 2: Jerry O'Connor yep. And they were all wearing Lower Decks uniforms.
- 33:05Speaker 2: I would like to go back and look at compare
- 33:09Speaker 2: Mariner and Boemler. Oh yeah, of the comic Con to
- 33:14Speaker 2: the crossover episode.
- 33:15Speaker 3: Oh that's a good call.
- 33:17Speaker 2: We'll have to look see if there's any pictures of that. Yeah,
- 33:21Speaker 2: so maybe go back to the Facebook group from you know,
- 33:25Speaker 2: spring of Yeah, yeah, let's check that out.
- 33:33Speaker 3: Oh that's te j. Were the insect aliens in this
- 33:36Speaker 3: episode a new race or have they been referenced before?
- 33:41Speaker 2: I was looking to see if they were in in
- 33:43Speaker 2: referenced before, but I they weren't like the Zindi, and
- 33:47Speaker 2: I don't think they were the the insect type race
- 33:52Speaker 2: that Picard like had to negotiate with, right, So, I
- 33:59Speaker 2: I don't know, does anybody you know if that insect
- 34:01Speaker 2: race was a new race because I didn't recognize them,
- 34:03Speaker 2: and they didn't say anything about them that called back
- 34:05Speaker 2: to anything that I remember, you know, and especially I
- 34:09Speaker 2: don't remember, like the whole compliment thing. Mm hmm, Like
- 34:13Speaker 2: the compliment comment reminded me of that webbed fingered alien
- 34:18Speaker 2: that uh Wesley Crusher encountered at the Academy.
- 34:22Speaker 3: But yeah, I'm I'm. I found the the Wikipedia briefing
- 34:31Speaker 3: of the episode, okay, and does not have the name
- 34:36Speaker 3: of the aliens on there.
- 34:38Speaker 2: Oh okay, Yeah, it.
- 34:41Speaker 3: Has the name of the space cows, the but Hoogans,
- 34:48Speaker 3: the Hoogans, Yeah, h G O O N S.
- 34:55Speaker 2: Yeah, I don't Yeah, I don't think we've ever encountered them,
- 34:58Speaker 2: have we?
- 34:59Speaker 7: No?
- 34:59Speaker 3: I don't think so, okay, Yeah, they're not familiar.
- 35:03Speaker 2: Yeah, there wasn't not a whole lot to talk about
- 35:04Speaker 2: it this episode. It was kind of a.
- 35:08Speaker 3: Yeah, Jess, because I think they're a new race. I
- 35:10Speaker 3: think so too, Yeah hmm, yeah, insects like the dudes
- 35:17Speaker 3: from Season three enterprises. Yeah, maybe there's Indy in my heart.
- 35:22Speaker 3: There's Indy that through your head. Getting went, sure, we're
- 35:27Speaker 3: the guys from the Galaxy C.
- 35:30Speaker 2: Splain. Oh that's right, yes, that's Oh that would be
- 35:36Speaker 2: funny if they brought out an alien from another franchise.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Yeah, we're not. It's not even close, like those guys
- 35:43Speaker 3: had technical stuff or like, but right, yeah, but whatever,
- 35:48Speaker 3: close enough, I'll just go with that.
- 35:51Speaker 2: Okay, all right to captain for who is.
- 35:56Speaker 3: That you cut out? What was at?
- 36:01Speaker 2: Not ball than guy? Next man?
- 36:06Speaker 3: Billups? You're kinda Scott? Okay, sorry I don't know. Okay, uh,
- 36:18Speaker 3: well Scott is doing that?
- 36:19Speaker 2: Tell you what.
- 36:20Speaker 3: Let's get into listener feedback. So if you guys want
- 36:23Speaker 3: to x up in the chat, I will send the
- 36:26Speaker 3: link and we will have you on. So let me
- 36:31Speaker 3: put that link in there for those of you want
- 36:33Speaker 3: to join, and let's go to listener feedback. Listener feedback.
- 36:43Speaker 3: All right, So we are in listener feedback, still waiting
- 36:47Speaker 3: for Scott to join us. So I did put out
- 36:51Speaker 3: in some of the uh social media, what people thought
- 36:54Speaker 3: of this episode. Oh Scott's back there, he goes.
- 36:59Speaker 2: Guess who's back back again?
- 37:02Speaker 3: That's right? So yeah, so we're listener feedback now, but
- 37:08Speaker 3: I did put in social media people like this episode. Overall,
- 37:12Speaker 3: the reactions were mixed, didn't love it, didn't hate it.
- 37:18Speaker 3: The other poll that I put out that I thought
- 37:21Speaker 3: was funny is I got a picture of Nick Locarno
- 37:27Speaker 3: and uh Tom Parris, and it said, these are different people.
- 37:32Speaker 3: Change my mind, and I put the I put the
- 37:36Speaker 3: options where they're different people, they're the same, They're changelings.
- 37:42Speaker 3: Oh far and away it was, h they're changelings.
- 37:47Speaker 2: Oh wow, yeah, okay.
- 37:52Speaker 3: So that the tribe is spoken.
- 37:54Speaker 2: I always thought that there were some some day, somehow
- 37:57Speaker 2: going to come back to that and say, yeah, their
- 38:00Speaker 2: cousins or they're the same person or you know, because
- 38:05Speaker 2: obviously the reason you know, Nick Lecrno and Paris were
- 38:08Speaker 2: both played by the same guy, by Duncan McNeil, and.
- 38:13Speaker 3: He uh he he had a premise or an idea
- 38:17Speaker 3: to solve that, oh yeah, because he wanted to come
- 38:23Speaker 3: back in season three of P Card. And what he
- 38:25Speaker 3: wanted was he wanted his character to show up at
- 38:28Speaker 3: the very end of like a segment.
- 38:30Speaker 2: Okay, and and.
- 38:32Speaker 3: Both Card and seven are there, and so he pops
- 38:36Speaker 3: up and Picard goes Nick and seven goes Tom, and
- 38:42Speaker 3: then it bades right because it's it's the cliffhanger, and
- 38:47Speaker 3: then it comes back and they go, oh, yeah, that
- 38:49Speaker 3: makes sense, okay, and they just call him Tom from
- 38:51Speaker 3: that point on.
- 38:52Speaker 2: Okay, okay, yeah, well there the Voyager, the shore Runners Voyager.
- 38:58Speaker 2: They wanted, they wanted that actor, and they wanted Nick.
- 39:02Speaker 2: But they couldn't do Nick because if they did Nick,
- 39:05Speaker 2: they'd have to pay the guy who did the story
- 39:07Speaker 2: for that episode for the first duty. They'd have to
- 39:10Speaker 2: pay the writers more money, right right, And so they
- 39:14Speaker 2: couldn't use him as Nick la Carnal.
- 39:16Speaker 3: They had to change every episode.
- 39:18Speaker 2: Right, So I mean they basically changed his backstory just
- 39:23Speaker 2: a little bit, not a lot, Yeah, just a little bit.
- 39:27Speaker 2: But they he was basically the same guy.
- 39:30Speaker 3: Right right. Okay, we got people waiting on the line.
- 39:34Speaker 3: Let's get hipster spoking there he is, Hey, Hey.
- 39:38Speaker 2: What's up?
- 39:40Speaker 6: How's it going?
- 39:42Speaker 2: God good? How are you? Yeah?
- 39:44Speaker 3: What's going on?
- 39:45Speaker 6: Okay? I'ven't been watching since I don't get like Paramount
- 39:49Speaker 6: plus and stuff, and it's a should service tip to
- 39:53Speaker 6: pay for. So uh wait till the season's over and
- 39:58Speaker 6: download the whole season. Be a Torrent or something and
- 40:03Speaker 6: then the internet mm hmm, yeah, yeah yeah, and then
- 40:08Speaker 6: got a VP. Yeah yeah, I do. Okay, So I'll
- 40:12Speaker 6: just do a whole binge watching type of thing and
- 40:17Speaker 6: it'll be my way to enjoy the season and and
- 40:22Speaker 6: finally figure out what you guys been talking about. Yeah,
- 40:27Speaker 6: And one thing I'm afraid of is I'm okay, given
- 40:32Speaker 6: the current let's say situation, quote unquote, I'm afraid that
- 40:38Speaker 6: the writers of Trek will feel that their love resist
- 40:45Speaker 6: stunts and start to put more stuff into track that
- 40:50Speaker 6: was starting to fade out and where whereby where it's
- 40:54Speaker 6: starting to get really good track, But then the resistance
- 40:59Speaker 6: might start becoming more active and the old you know,
- 41:05Speaker 6: the old habits come back. And that's my biggest fear
- 41:09Speaker 6: in the current situation.
- 41:11Speaker 3: You know, I I don't know if that would happen.
- 41:15Speaker 3: It might there might be like like shades of it,
- 41:18Speaker 3: But overall, you look at what happened with Disney, you
- 41:22Speaker 3: look at what happened with a few other film production companies,
- 41:27Speaker 3: and they're starting to lean like more towards we need
- 41:30Speaker 3: to just make products the way they were, right. We
- 41:33Speaker 3: need to just general audiences. You can't alienate. Right, the
- 41:38Speaker 3: audiences are so fragmented as it is, right, because you're
- 41:42Speaker 3: not just fighting against you know, they're not just fighting
- 41:45Speaker 3: against Disney and Fox and Sony for audiences, but they're
- 41:48Speaker 3: fighting against streamers and and YouTube and video games. Like
- 41:54Speaker 3: to get a viewer's attention takes so much nowadays, right,
- 41:59Speaker 3: So you want to give him a reason to shut
- 42:01Speaker 3: it off and move on to something else.
- 42:04Speaker 6: Yeah, I hope, I hope that's the case, because for
- 42:08Speaker 6: the sake of Truck and the whole franchise, you cannot
- 42:12Speaker 6: have what happened to Discovery to happen again.
- 42:16Speaker 3: Yeah right, yeah, yeah, Well, and Discovery was he got
- 42:20Speaker 3: too preachy as opposed to integrating into their stories. That
- 42:25Speaker 3: was the big problem, totally.
- 42:27Speaker 2: Yeah. You know, I think Dan said it before. They
- 42:32Speaker 2: got like you just said preachy. They wanted to preach
- 42:34Speaker 2: instead of tell a good story.
- 42:36Speaker 3: Right, right, Like you could have those elements, but you
- 42:39Speaker 3: have to weave it into the story and then it
- 42:41Speaker 3: makes more sense.
- 42:42Speaker 2: Right.
- 42:44Speaker 3: It's like, uh, it's like Christian films, right, most people
- 42:47Speaker 3: don't watch because they're super preachy.
- 42:50Speaker 2: Right. So yeah, yeah, although Dan might have liked the
- 42:54Speaker 2: preaching us, he's not here to defend himself. Yeah, he
- 42:58Speaker 2: loved he loved the preaching. Yeah, he wants more crying.
- 43:03Speaker 3: Yes, that's why he's not here.
- 43:05Speaker 2: Actually, yeah, it's emotional about the last time.
- 43:09Speaker 3: That's right.
- 43:12Speaker 6: I want to the franchise to be good again and
- 43:15Speaker 6: you know, tell really good stories and okay, a little
- 43:20Speaker 6: bit of a teaching uh mixed in, but you know,
- 43:24Speaker 6: uh in the way that the t O s did that.
- 43:29Speaker 3: It can be done.
- 43:30Speaker 6: It's just and I mean in TG.
- 43:33Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, no, it it's really well there. Yeah.
- 43:41Speaker 6: So I mean, I'm just seeing how you guys are thinking.
- 43:48Speaker 3: But Jesus Dan isn't here because he's binging Discovery.
- 43:55Speaker 2: I'm hoping to answer your question Hipster's back. I'm hoping
- 44:00Speaker 2: that it's not too late for the writers and showrunners
- 44:03Speaker 2: of the next iterations of Trek to learn the lessons Yeah,
- 44:07Speaker 2: like Academy to learn the lessons of the past. I
- 44:12Speaker 2: hope they take the best of what the last couple
- 44:15Speaker 2: of years, three years, four years of Star Trek a
- 44:17Speaker 2: bed yeah, and are able to incorporate that into Academy
- 44:22Speaker 2: and you know, the next seasons of Strange New Worlds.
- 44:27Speaker 3: I mean, they kind of learned that lesson with Strange
- 44:29Speaker 3: New Worlds.
- 44:30Speaker 6: Yeah, yeah, right, entertaining. I thought there have been an
- 44:35Speaker 6: element of cringe here and there, but I mean they're experimenting,
- 44:39Speaker 6: so you know, you can give them a little leave
- 44:42Speaker 6: word because of that.
- 44:44Speaker 2: Right. And Season one of Stranger Worlds was the best
- 44:47Speaker 2: Trek in my opinion, that we've had in twenty years.
- 44:50Speaker 3: True, I would say season three p card.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Okay, yeah, Season three card pretty damn good. Season three
- 44:58Speaker 2: percard or Season one of Stranger Worlds was the best
- 45:01Speaker 2: tract we've had in twenty years. I mean not since
- 45:05Speaker 2: tng Era Trek. Right, those are those those two seasons
- 45:08Speaker 2: are up there with that. Yah. And and so most
- 45:11Speaker 2: I would imagine most people that listen to our show
- 45:13Speaker 2: or sort of tg era ish, right, you know, and
- 45:18Speaker 2: everybody's a fan of all Trek. You know, I'm a
- 45:20Speaker 2: fan of you know, the original series, you know, original series,
- 45:23Speaker 2: a Jason.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Fan, you know, thinking about it, like the Orville is
- 45:27Speaker 3: very preachy, it really is. It's so incorporated into their
- 45:31Speaker 3: stories that it makes more sense.
- 45:33Speaker 2: Well, Seth MacFarland is pretty preachy, right, He's a pretty
- 45:37Speaker 2: he's a pretty left wing guy. You see a lot
- 45:39Speaker 2: of family guy. Yeah, but he's funny about it. He's
- 45:42Speaker 2: also he's also you know when it comes to like
- 45:46Speaker 2: his his sort of political leanings. He also pokes funded
- 45:50Speaker 2: himself too, So yeah, yeah.
- 45:57Speaker 6: Thanks for your input and keep up the good work.
- 46:01Speaker 2: Thank you.
- 46:02Speaker 3: Thanks.
- 46:02Speaker 2: I appreciate that.
- 46:04Speaker 3: And then we got Chaz Buz who's been waiting. Poor guy.
- 46:07Speaker 3: Let me bring him in there is.
- 46:11Speaker 2: It's up Chaz biz so much?
- 46:14Speaker 3: Would you think of the episode?
- 46:16Speaker 7: I thought it was, Yeah, it happened. I thought it
- 46:23Speaker 7: was you know, this could have been a really good episode.
- 46:26Speaker 7: It just the main storyline was just kind of there
- 46:29Speaker 7: wasn't really a main storyline. There's just right, too many
- 46:32Speaker 7: mini stories. You had the doctor that couldn't feel pain, you.
- 46:35Speaker 3: Had, it was it was a storytelling trail mix. Yes,
- 46:39Speaker 3: there's just a little bit of everything.
- 46:41Speaker 7: Yeah, a little bit of everything was kind of messy.
- 46:43Speaker 7: It's all over the place. And I was like, what
- 46:45Speaker 7: was the a storyline? Was it the guys pretending to
- 46:49Speaker 7: be that alien Rice and then in their shape bug
- 46:53Speaker 7: shape ship?
- 46:54Speaker 3: I would say the space cows was the main one.
- 46:57Speaker 7: I know they're thinking maybe the space cows. Yeah, man
- 47:02Speaker 7: figure doing CrossFit.
- 47:04Speaker 2: So yeah, it did seem like there was just several
- 47:08Speaker 2: p stories. Yeah, yeah, it was. There was a lot.
- 47:13Speaker 2: So what did you think, chasmis? What did you think
- 47:15Speaker 2: about the new trailer for second second? Watched it?
- 47:21Speaker 3: Man, we'll get your favorite popcorn bucket and watch it.
- 47:25Speaker 7: Yeah, I'll get the Dune popcorn bucket.
- 47:29Speaker 2: There you go, there you go.
- 47:33Speaker 3: I mean, after watching it, you may be so excited
- 47:35Speaker 3: that you need the Dune popcorn buckets.
- 47:37Speaker 7: So right, Yeah, it looks I don't know, I saw
- 47:45Speaker 7: the first trailer.
- 47:46Speaker 2: It was.
- 47:48Speaker 3: It looks to me like we will have a lot
- 47:51Speaker 3: to say about it.
- 47:53Speaker 2: The treck Ast episode after that movie comes out.
- 48:00Speaker 7: Yeah, or probably like two hours and forty minutes or something.
- 48:04Speaker 7: You know, all the streaming movies go longer than a
- 48:06Speaker 7: normal movie.
- 48:07Speaker 6: Yeah.
- 48:07Speaker 7: They don't believe in editing anymore, right, so they just like, hey,
- 48:11Speaker 7: we filmed it, just toss it on there.
- 48:13Speaker 6: And well it made me.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Wonder, Like, you know, they've in the past, they've released
- 48:17Speaker 3: episodes like in theaters, right, like a little one off
- 48:21Speaker 3: e ends. I wonder if they'll do that with this,
- 48:24Speaker 3: like the you know.
- 48:27Speaker 7: I'd probably rather see it in the theater because I
- 48:30Speaker 7: wouldn't be playing on my phone and.
- 48:32Speaker 3: Have the yeahs right, I was thinking about that.
- 48:35Speaker 7: If I watched it in the theater, I'd actually watch
- 48:38Speaker 7: the episode. If I watch it at home, I'm gonna
- 48:40Speaker 7: be so distracted.
- 48:41Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 48:42Speaker 2: See, in my house, there are multiple modes of TV
- 48:46Speaker 2: and movie viewing. You know, there's there and there's a
- 48:50Speaker 2: range from you know, like in the mornings and Sunday
- 48:53Speaker 2: mornings after the podcast, we just have this old house
- 48:56Speaker 2: playing in the background. We're walking around the house doing
- 48:58Speaker 2: our thing, and that's one into the spectrum. And the
- 49:01Speaker 2: other end of the spectrum is it's at night. We
- 49:03Speaker 2: make popcorn, we get everybody situated, we put on our jammies,
- 49:08Speaker 2: we turn off all the lights, and then we sit
- 49:10Speaker 2: we put our phones down, and then we watch a
- 49:12Speaker 2: movie nic okay, and there's everything sort of in between.
- 49:16Speaker 2: So you know, for for this one, this is definitely
- 49:19Speaker 2: gonna be a uh, you know, to make the popcorn,
- 49:22Speaker 2: put the phones down, turn the lights off, because it's
- 49:24Speaker 2: it's I mean, it might be section thirty one, but
- 49:25Speaker 2: it's still a Star Trek movie.
- 49:27Speaker 7: So at night is that when you gag Chad so
- 49:30Speaker 7: you can shut up.
- 49:31Speaker 2: That's right, Well, it's right. There's a there's like a
- 49:35Speaker 2: ballgag involved, and he lives in a box during certain
- 49:38Speaker 2: times of the day.
- 49:40Speaker 3: Oh my god, you know it does.
- 49:45Speaker 2: We'll say bring out the gimp, and I'll say gimp sleeping.
- 49:52Speaker 3: I literally just bought a new TV this Friday, so
- 49:57Speaker 3: the viewing my house has changed.
- 50:00Speaker 7: That's improved. What kind of TV?
- 50:02Speaker 3: I got a TLC.
- 50:06Speaker 7: TCL You mean t C L.
- 50:08Speaker 2: Yeah, don't go chase and waterfalls because I don't want
- 50:13Speaker 2: to strug. Yeah, oh boy, I'm old.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Ty J says I'm gonna watch the Trek cast and
- 50:24Speaker 3: decide if I'm going to watch section thirty one based
- 50:27Speaker 3: off the show's reaction.
- 50:28Speaker 2: Oh wow, good luck that dance reaction. Yeah, if that's yeah,
- 50:41Speaker 2: Dan's gotta make it for that show.
- 50:45Speaker 7: Make it for that one.
- 50:47Speaker 2: Dad, I don't care if your house burns out.
- 50:51Speaker 7: Dance wearing. He's stitching up his season one Discovery uniform, right.
- 50:55Speaker 3: That poor guy is gonna be out in the shuttle
- 50:57Speaker 3: craft in the middle of January. Oh god, yeah, talking
- 51:01Speaker 3: about this because you know that's not going to be
- 51:03Speaker 3: a one hour episode.
- 51:04Speaker 2: No, it's not going to be at least minutes two hours.
- 51:08Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, you gotta do a frame by frame breakdown.
- 51:12Speaker 7: Oh god, do you like four hours of just going
- 51:16Speaker 7: frame by frame of the whole episode?
- 51:19Speaker 2: Or TV Dan will love that TV movie.
- 51:24Speaker 3: I forget the name of it, but there was a
- 51:25Speaker 3: podcast that would review one minute at a time of
- 51:31Speaker 3: The Fast and the Furious movies.
- 51:33Speaker 2: Yeah literally remember that. Yeah, well the.
- 51:37Speaker 3: Whole episode was just one minute.
- 51:40Speaker 7: Yeah, yeah, it was like the Star Wars minute and
- 51:43Speaker 7: then they were Yeah, they started out with like the
- 51:46Speaker 7: first one, and then I guess maybe they did a
- 51:48Speaker 7: yeah Furious afterwards.
- 51:50Speaker 2: Yeah, speaking of Star Wars, you guys watched a Skeleton
- 51:52Speaker 2: Crew yet I did. I haven't. I haven't.
- 51:55Speaker 7: It is good, actually like it. Yeah, the first episode,
- 51:59Speaker 7: I think it kind of drags at the beginning. Once
- 52:02Speaker 7: they get to the ship, all things like.
- 52:06Speaker 2: You know, set up ye story set up usually takes
- 52:10Speaker 2: a minute.
- 52:11Speaker 7: And there's like easter Eggs. We ever been to Disney World,
- 52:15Speaker 7: Like there's a little caffanillo.
- 52:16Speaker 3: Yeah, there's a caff easter egg. I got excited about that.
- 52:20Speaker 7: And they said the bus driver was like from Star
- 52:22Speaker 7: Cruise or whatever. Yeah, really yeah, Yeah, there's a little
- 52:27Speaker 7: Easter Eggs in there. And it's a cross between Dooon
- 52:30Speaker 7: East slash.
- 52:32Speaker 3: Let me give a reason why it's that way.
- 52:34Speaker 7: Uh huh, yes, yes, second episode kind of explains it.
- 52:39Speaker 3: I really like Jude Law as an actor.
- 52:41Speaker 7: Yeah, even though Law was barely in the first two episodes. Yeah,
- 52:46Speaker 7: but the setup was great.
- 52:49Speaker 3: Yeah. You come for Star Wars, you stay for Erkle because.
- 52:53Speaker 7: Yes, oh my god, like I sort of got this
- 52:58Speaker 7: guy looks like Steve Rkle, probably because it is.
- 53:03Speaker 3: Spottle. Yeah.
- 53:06Speaker 2: I'll probably watch those episodes this afternoon.
- 53:08Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 53:08Speaker 7: Yeah, he's dressed up with step On so.
- 53:11Speaker 2: Yeah some.
- 53:14Speaker 3: Yeah, let's see if he spots them.
- 53:18Speaker 2: What's the actor's name again? Yeah?
- 53:22Speaker 3: Okay, all right, well we only got two more episodes
- 53:26Speaker 3: of Lower Decks, so this is the big finale coming up.
- 53:30Speaker 2: So are we doing We are going to do an
- 53:31Speaker 2: episode next weekend, and we are going to do an
- 53:33Speaker 2: episode the weekend after, which is the weekend before Christmas.
- 53:36Speaker 3: Yeah, I would think, so okay, yeah, we've got a
- 53:41Speaker 3: Fisher request and the new Next Generation.
- 53:44Speaker 7: So the new Next Generation, man, I just hope they
- 53:48Speaker 7: tied up. Can you make a great finale? Can you
- 53:51Speaker 7: pull up card season three?
- 53:53Speaker 3: I think we're going to get the big Space battle.
- 53:56Speaker 7: I was like, please give us really think that's what
- 53:58Speaker 7: we're getting something good.
- 54:00Speaker 3: I bet the I bet the cliffhanger for the end
- 54:02Speaker 3: of next week's episode is the riff starts opening and
- 54:06Speaker 3: everybody starts coming through. It's yeah, I think you're right.
- 54:13Speaker 7: The better be the pack cloud.
- 54:15Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, well I I said I would talk to UH,
- 54:18Speaker 2: I would talk to my my peoples about getting a
- 54:21Speaker 2: packload review. Yeah, if they bring the pack loads, so
- 54:25Speaker 2: I will do that.
- 54:26Speaker 3: Yeah, maybe one open hailing frequencies so yep, it's all right.
- 54:32Speaker 7: Yeah, how would you email or send a message to
- 54:36Speaker 7: wonder I I I.
- 54:37Speaker 2: Have their subsace frequency on my phone. That's right CB radio, right, yep,
- 54:43Speaker 2: exactly exactly, like.
- 54:45Speaker 7: Three hundred times before they figure out how to pick
- 54:48Speaker 7: it up.
- 54:48Speaker 2: Right exactly. Yeah. Yeah, my subspace band radio.
- 54:57Speaker 7: It's gonna start calling now because it's gonna be like
- 55:00Speaker 7: so many rings, right right.
- 55:04Speaker 3: All right, Well, anything else we want to bring up
- 55:06Speaker 3: before we wrap it up?
- 55:09Speaker 7: You know, there's no really sci fi or anything big
- 55:13Speaker 7: coming up.
- 55:14Speaker 3: I guess yeah, yeah, I.
- 55:16Speaker 7: Guess Disney figure out how to make a movie makes
- 55:22Speaker 7: but they keep on announcing movies and all the movies
- 55:25Speaker 7: like the.
- 55:26Speaker 3: Big Holiday movie that I see excitement for is Sonic three.
- 55:30Speaker 3: That's closest to like, not Sign two or Yeah.
- 55:35Speaker 2: I watched the first one and I hated it so
- 55:37Speaker 2: much that I haven't seen the other two.
- 55:39Speaker 7: Really.
- 55:40Speaker 3: Actually, I watched it with my nephews and niece and
- 55:42Speaker 3: they loved it, so.
- 55:44Speaker 2: I might give it one more chance. I might give
- 55:48Speaker 2: it one more chance.
- 55:50Speaker 7: It was more Jim Carrey that kind of got me
- 55:52Speaker 7: on there.
- 55:52Speaker 3: Say I'd loved Gary growing up.
- 55:55Speaker 2: Yeah, so did I Yeah, yeah, yeah, and willing to
- 55:59Speaker 2: do a movie like this.
- 56:00Speaker 7: Yeah right, I act like doctor Yeah, all right, it's
- 56:06Speaker 7: kind of funny. This is like the only movie Jim
- 56:07Speaker 7: Carrey will do is the Sonic movies. I think it's Yeah,
- 56:12Speaker 7: I think he's having fun.
- 56:13Speaker 3: I think yeah, no, I think he just enjoys.
- 56:16Speaker 7: I think he's just having fun.
- 56:18Speaker 3: They got like Keanu Reeves in the next one. That's ridiculous.
- 56:22Speaker 2: Yeah yeah, I mean you guys hedgehogs.
- 56:28Speaker 3: And then they're just like, you need to be in
- 56:29Speaker 3: the booth for a few days, go do it? Okay,
- 56:32Speaker 3: all right, yeah.
- 56:34Speaker 2: You still it was Yeah, here's a quarter million dollars, Yeah, motorcycle.
- 56:40Speaker 7: You got syclops in there, and they're like, who's got Cyclops?
- 56:44Speaker 7: So yeah, it's got James.
- 56:46Speaker 2: Martinsen, James Marson. Yeah, I like him, Homo Zone.
- 56:51Speaker 7: James mars since that's their only like superhero Cyclops that
- 56:55Speaker 7: they killed off.
- 56:57Speaker 3: Did you ever watch his show Jury Duty?
- 57:00Speaker 4: No?
- 57:01Speaker 7: I need to watch it. I hear it's hilarious.
- 57:03Speaker 3: No, it was on free V, which I guess is
- 57:06Speaker 3: gone now on Amazon. But it's the premise was it's
- 57:11Speaker 3: a reality show where James Marsden is on a jury,
- 57:16Speaker 3: but really they're just punking one guy. The whole jury
- 57:21Speaker 3: is fake.
- 57:22Speaker 2: Oh I do remember that? Yeah, I do remember that.
- 57:25Speaker 3: It's really good man that comes.
- 57:29Speaker 7: Back to get called in for Jerry duty. Right, and
- 57:33Speaker 7: you have to do this show for Jerry duty. Yeah,
- 57:36Speaker 7: and they're filming a TV show then after that you
- 57:39Speaker 7: get called in for Jerry duty.
- 57:41Speaker 3: Right all right?
- 57:49Speaker 2: Well cool, well thanks jazz Biz.
- 57:52Speaker 3: Yeah, thanks jazz Biz.
- 57:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 57:56Speaker 7: So okay, I'll have my Hunter gear on and camouflage,
- 58:01Speaker 7: so who knows, So I'm just making fun.
- 58:05Speaker 3: So okay, thanks buddy, all.
- 58:09Speaker 2: Right, take care all right, well uh yeah, thanks for
