- 0:00Here's to you. It's supported by One Life
- 0:02Spirits. One Life Spirits is built on
- 0:04purpose, culture, good people and good drinks so you can live
- 0:08one life to the fullest. That means shots that are
- 0:11smooth, tasteful, and pair perfectly with a lime.
- 0:14Or our favorite, in orange. Because if you're still chasing
- 0:17tequila with a lime, what are you doing?
- 0:20That orange slice brings out the bright citrus notes of Una Vida
- 0:24Blanco, which is smooth, authentic and tasteful.
- 0:27Like myself. Plus, Una Vida is 100% additive
- 0:31free, so you're enjoying tequila in its purest form without the
- 0:35hangover regret. Yeah, because it takes us three
- 0:38to five business days to recover now, and hang side is not my
- 0:41friend. That's why you should stick with
- 0:44una Vida or try cocktails instead of shots.
- 0:47OK, a little bit little. One Life Spirits also crafts El
- 0:50Drago High Post vodkas and LeBron whiskey all bold, smooth
- 0:54and made to share. Whether it's game night, date
- 0:56night or just Tuesday night, they've got the pores covered.
- 1:00Because it's not just about taste, but it's about that
- 1:02feeling. And we're proud spirits noms.
- 1:05So treat yourself. Visit onelifespirits.com, swing
- 1:09by the One Life Spirits bar inside of El Primo, or grab a
- 1:12bottle at your local liquor store.
- 1:15Cheers. I am not hungover.

- 3:49babies. But anyways, you guys, we have a
- 3:52special guest here. Yeah, she's my home girl, my
- 3:56ride or die, my Natalie to crazy, my sing along, my
- 4:02Natalie. So there's like this.
- 4:04It's a song and. It's like a throwback in the
- 4:07days, like she's an artist and everything, but you sing your
- 4:09heart out to it. What is my what else?
- 4:14Just basically ride or die, girl.
- 4:16The light to my my life we have here.
- 4:19Marina D. We're so excited to have some
- 4:26really hot AB GS in here. Yes, yes, as you guys know, I'm
- 4:30happy to be here. Yes, Marina is one of the ABG
- 4:33girls to here in Wichita. Yes, yes.
- 4:36Marina also is an esthetician, has her own studio and that's
- 4:40what we're here to talk about. Well, you know, promote it, of
- 4:42course, 'cause you know, we love to promote everybody's stuff.
- 4:45Like we just love to hide people up and then have a drink with
- 4:47them. She wants something really sweet
- 4:51because she's weird like that. But also shout out to One Life
- 4:55Spirits because we have a sponsor that one.
- 5:04We need to have someone walk in with both bottles and have like
- 5:07a sparkler and just walk in. Just be like, yeah, they're
- 5:10sponsors. Yeah, that's the real yes.
- 5:13OK, OK, I'm manifesting it. OK, So we're going to have this
- 5:16one life upside down drink for you when it comes time to do
- 5:21that. Yeah, Whenever.
- 5:22Yeah. I'm down to drink.
- 5:24How are you feeling? I'm good, I'm good.
- 5:26I'm excited to be here. Yeah.
- 5:28Yeah. How's your day today?
- 5:30I mean it honestly, I had a chill day today.
- 5:32Like normally I have shit going on all the time so.
- 5:36No for real, it was a this girl. This girl has like every weekend
- 5:40is busy for her like y'all just need to listen to this girl's
- 5:43story trust me. 'Cause we were originally trying
- 5:47to schedule for like last month, but.
- 5:51There's just always something going on, going on, and I always
- 5:53make it to everything. And then I have my own stuff
- 5:56too, like events and things. So yeah, it's just, yeah, I get
- 5:59so busy. Yeah.
- 6:00Plus it's summertime. Yeah, everybody's.
- 6:03And back to school now. Got stuff going on?
- 6:05Yeah. Yeah, 'cause you have a lot of
- 6:07kids. Yeah, you don't know.
- 6:09I have three now. Yeah.
- 6:10I'm over here thinking you had one.
- 6:12I had, yeah. When you met her, it was 1.
- 6:15It was one, yeah. It was just Tray, Yeah.
- 6:17OK, OK dude, I still remember that one time.
- 6:19Do you remember how scared I was when you were doing my lashes?
- 6:23Oh yeah, and I didn't know that. I felt so bad.
- 6:25Do I? I remember that whole
- 6:27conversation. If I would have known that, I
- 6:30would have tried to make you feel a little bit better.
- 6:32I was like, I didn't know she had anxiety with, you know,
- 6:34yeah. Faces ohh yeah so bad so I.
- 6:37Told fannies to just put your air pods in.
- 6:39Could you be fine? Ohh man, I was low key y'all.
- 6:41I was kind of mad at Emily. She didn't come with me.
- 6:44And I was like, so the issue is that like, when like it's the
- 6:48fact that like someone is over me and you have no control.
- 6:51Yeah. And I have no.
- 6:52And that's three hours like. That so basically everyone she's
- 6:55talking about lashes. So when you do lash extensions,
- 6:57they're individuals. So you're like the aesthetician
- 7:00is like right in front of you doing your lash 1 by 1.
- 7:03So it's like, you know, in your personal space.
- 7:05So that's before Fanny had like big anxiety, like someone very
- 7:10close to. Her and you have a ton of
- 7:12lashes. Too.
- 7:12And claustrophobic too as well. So.
- 7:15I think that was when I was kind of first starting out.
- 7:17So yeah, when you are doing. Lashes.
- 7:19Yeah, it takes about like three, 3 1/2 hours, but now I can do a
- 7:23full set in like 2 hours. But yeah, the first, first
- 7:26appointment is like super long. So I'm like, Oh yeah, just take
- 7:29a nap. Yeah, I didn't know.
- 7:31That every time when I do my lashes.
- 7:33I know. And I was like, OK, I could do
- 7:35this. I was like, I could do this.
- 7:36I could do this. But that was like peak anxiety
- 7:38too. Like, I think a lot of people
- 7:39think that, like, I'm really confident and I kind of am, but
- 7:42like nobody knows how much anxiety actually lives inside of
- 7:44my body. Yeah, Yeah.
- 7:46I mean as you get older too, like I didn't realize how much
- 7:48anxiety I have. I mean that's why I'd be
- 7:51sleeping so late till like. 5:00 in the morning when you have so
- 7:55much anxiety. Thinking everything it's.
- 7:57So sad to the point when you become an adult, you're just
- 8:00like, fuck, this is my everyday life.
- 8:01Like this is just lives with me and you're just like, all right,
- 8:04let's go right through life with this fucking anxiety.
- 8:08Anxiety and stress. Literally.
- 8:09Well, now I'm medicated, so it's good.
- 8:11But lately, because of all the awesome stuff that we're doing,
- 8:15like I have been waking up, like I have kind of let go of my
- 8:19meditation practice and I really need to get back on it.
- 8:21But like there's been like these past couple of weeks, like I
- 8:24literally wake up in the middle of the night and I'm like
- 8:27hyperventilating and. You're having like panic
- 8:29attacks. Yeah, even when I'm sleeping.
- 8:31Oh my God, yeah, it's getting pretty bad.
- 8:33So I need to get back on like meditation because I haven't
- 8:36done that in a minute. So I'm trying and or be more
- 8:41medicated I guess I'm now. Kidding.
- 8:44Take an edible. No, it's like edibles can also
- 8:46make my anxiety spike, you know? It there's different medication
- 8:50for different diagnosis of edibles too, because like there
- 8:54is ones that you have upper and then you have a downer too as
- 8:57well. And those Downers really help
- 8:59you go to sleep like, like what we have right now.
- 9:02I've tried everything and I'm. Like Doctor A got everything in
- 9:06her head. No.
- 9:08Not a good time for you. No I mean I I have tried
- 9:12actually like to take them to help me fall asleep and I'm like
- 9:16I just can't. Like what the fuck is wrong with
- 9:17me? Like nothing.
- 9:19Your mind is always running, it's just.
- 9:21Running on 100 and I am like I just got diagnosed with ADHD
- 9:26this year so now like I'm on medications I'm.
- 9:30Congrats, because like, they're girls.
- 9:32It's hard, everything. So now it's like.
- 9:34Postpartum depression. Realizing how yeah, it's a.
- 9:37Lot. It's a lot.
- 9:39So you're medicated or what are you doing?
- 9:41Yeah, that. And I mean, I've been working
- 9:43out a lot that helps me and just, I don't know, journaling
- 9:48like just doing simple stuff and I've been trying to just slow
- 9:51down like my work and being more present with everything.
- 9:55Just yeah, just slow down in life, yeah.
- 9:59I just want to. Chill.
- 10:01I don't. Want to do?
- 10:02Have you ever heard this song? I got 2 phones, one for the hose
- 10:07and then one for whatever. That's fucking Marina.
- 10:10I'm not kidding. That's.
- 10:13Kevin Gates, right? Yeah.
- 10:14One of my songs is I don't get Tired.
- 10:16I don't get tired. That's that is Marina like like
- 10:19that's Marina is what I see She's she has her masters, she's
- 10:25an exitician. She's what else she does, lashes
- 10:30all this I just do but. She's not a plumber, too.
- 10:33She's not a plumber yet, Exactly.
- 10:34Yeah, she's, no, she's still working, building.
- 10:36Shit she does. She's gonna go and start like
- 10:40she'd be working in construction crew now she's.
- 10:42Gonna be AI think I would be more of like the project
- 10:45manager, you know, cuz I love just seeing a space and then I'm
- 10:49like oh this can you know I designed the layout so I could
- 10:53see myself being like an interior designer.
- 10:54For real, on my on my baby shower, Marina came over early
- 10:58and she she saw me like just doing everything.
- 11:00She's like, what you want me to do?
- 11:01I was like, dude, do whatever. I don't care.
- 11:03Just fix it for me or finish it. I'm also like an event planner,
- 11:07yeah. Oh yeah, I come downstairs and
- 11:09she's like, she has all the tables of the core and
- 11:12everything. I say damn bro, need it all
- 11:14this. She's like, yeah, that's.
- 11:16You're like, duh, bro, I've been doing shit.
- 11:18We get shit done over here. I love it.
- 11:21OK so event planner, esthetician also working in the community,
- 11:29mom a three ADHD workout. What else we got?
- 11:38Girl, what else do I mean she? Homeowner, she.
- 11:44Ratchet. I'm a little ratchet, but no.
- 11:45Oh. Yeah.
- 11:45Ratchet. Oh, yeah, Yeah.
- 11:47Wait, that's the important one for sure.
- 11:49Balance. OK, Tell us how.
- 11:51How? Tell us how you got to MD sweet
- 11:54spot. Yes.
- 11:55So sweet spot. Yeah, but the pun is sweet spot.
- 12:00You know, like I wanted a place for just other estheticians.
- 12:03Like when I went to school, I just feel like there was no
- 12:06place for other people to kind of.
- 12:08I feel like I'm a mentor too. So I love teaching people how to
- 12:11like do certain things. Like when you start your
- 12:13business, like no one is there to guide you through it, you
- 12:16know, with the insurances or the things that you need or I mean,
- 12:20you're everything as an entrepreneur.
- 12:22Like you're your social media person, you're, you know,
- 12:25marketing and just getting things started up.
- 12:28So like I man, I don't even know where to start because, well,
- 12:35the sweet, the sweets and stuff was probably three years ago.
- 12:39But so I've been going to school like college for like, I don't
- 12:43know, 13 years or something. So I went three years in pre
- 12:48nursing and then I switched to social work and I went for
- 12:51another five years and I did a four year program at WSU, got my
- 12:56bachelor's and then my master's. I did that advance program and I
- 13:00finished in a year. Damn bro.
- 13:02And then that's. Hard though 'cause Matt, like
- 13:04see I went. And in a year, it was a lot.
- 13:07When I switched to product design, I did a boot camp, which
- 13:10they're fucking intense too. They're like they're suppose it
- 13:14was like a nine month one, but like I ended up finishing it in
- 13:17like a little over a year 'cause there was just no way.
- 13:19But they're intense too. But I told myself I'm not going
- 13:22to go get my master's. Like this is just, I cannot go
- 13:25back and do homework all the time.
- 13:27Like that's where I'm just done. Like I love like learning and
- 13:30like still growing, but like I'm just tired of that.
- 13:32But then like doing the boot camp, I was like, oh fuck, this
- 13:35is school all over again. I didn't even realize it.
- 13:37I love learning though, and I love school and you know, just
- 13:41learning new things. And so after I graduated, it
- 13:46took me a while to actually pass my exam.
- 13:48So I took that shit like I don't know how many times my social
- 13:51work exam and I was just always going through it like, you know,
- 13:54I think my dad passed away during that time.
- 13:56And then just like, you know, in between relationships moving,
- 14:01like things like that, like things just kept happening.
- 14:03And I with social work, I finally got into a job with my
- 14:08social work stuff and then I got my license.
- 14:11I passed it and I actually learned how to do like my
- 14:16esthetician stuff after. So that was kind of my balance.
- 14:19And that's why I still do both because you know, with social
- 14:22work you get burnt towel and compassion fatigue and all of
- 14:25that. And like with esthetician, I
- 14:28love doing makeup and I started doing like lashes and brows and
- 14:31stuff. And so that's how it started.
- 14:33And then it blew up. And then, you know, I stacked
- 14:36up, saved up and went to school, back to school.
- 14:38Damn girl. For my S edition stuff because
- 14:41I'm like I got to do this shit legally.
- 14:42How did you stack up when you're also like, I've always like cuz
- 14:46you're cuz you're starting things so you're having to
- 14:49spend. Yes I was starting things but
- 14:52I've always had like 2 jobs. OK.
- 14:54Yeah, 2 two or three jobs. Always hustling, yeah.
- 14:59So always grinding it. Was crazy.
- 15:01Grinding in your sleep? Yeah.
- 15:02Your teeth, Yeah. And she also has a really good
- 15:04support system too as well. Like she has a good village,
- 15:07like with all of us and everything like that.
- 15:11As you guys know me, Marina used to be roommates back in the day.
- 15:14Hell yeah, we're going to get into that.
- 15:17Yeah, that's how we met, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 15:21Because he Djed at our house warming, remember?
- 15:24Yeah, yeah, I feel Dusty was always my DJ for things and now
- 15:30that I'm older I'm like damn, I need to pay you.
- 15:32I would pay him with shots and a couch to sleep on my.
- 15:35No, remember he had a. Good time though.
- 15:39House at Woodlawn. I remember I told he was like
- 15:43passed out drunk and he's like, I don't know where I'm gonna
- 15:45sleep. I said, you can sleep on this
- 15:46couch right here. And it was my old couch,
- 15:48remember? And then next morning I said,
- 15:51Marina, your cousin passed out on the couch in the basement.
- 15:54She's. Like, Oh my God, you slept in
- 15:55the basement. The basement was scary.
- 15:57Yeah. This was, this was a haunted
- 15:59basement, right? Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 16:01There was a haunted basement. I never thought that.
- 16:03No one told me it was haunted it.
- 16:05Was a haunted bro. I know that because they told
- 16:08me, but I didn't go visit it. We don't know if.
- 16:10It's we never, I mean. I never encounter anything.
- 16:13Shut the fuck. Wait, I did shut the fuck I
- 16:16encountered that one time. Holy shit, that was the most
- 16:19scariest thing I'm telling. Tell us.
- 16:21Did I've she's seen a ghost in the hallway?
- 16:24Yes, yes, I did. I did.
- 16:26Girl, boy, tall, small, fat. It was all white.
- 16:29It was all white. It was, it was so fucking scary
- 16:32because I had my God sister there and then she had her aunt
- 16:35there and then Marina and Trey and I don't.
- 16:38Even remember exactly. I just remember you seeing it,
- 16:40yeah. I or went at the.
- 16:42So we watched The Conjuring and then and then I was like, I was
- 16:46still awake. And because like, you know when
- 16:48you watch something scary, you got to watch something like.
- 16:51Yeah, you got something funny. Yeah, after that.
- 16:53You got to watch some SpongeBob. So me and me and Selena were in
- 16:56the living room and then I I just like fucking saw something
- 17:01go across the hallway and I just fucking froze and I was like
- 17:06what do I do? Like I was like, so, you know,
- 17:10normal people, they're like, Nah, fuck this, I'm out.
- 17:13I just went to go investigate. So you're the white person?
- 17:16Yeah, I know. So I like.
- 17:18That's not very ABG of you. I went to, I went to the hallway
- 17:23and then I looked to my left cause on your right it's just a,
- 17:26there's a with a shelf there, right?
- 17:28Yes, the shelf. So First things first, I went
- 17:32into Trey's room to see if he's good.
- 17:35Yeah, you're like, I just need to make sure he's not possessed.
- 17:37Yeah, so I checked on Trey. Good.
- 17:40And then I was like, fuck, I cannot sleep.
- 17:42I was like, so I went to Marina's room and said, Marina,
- 17:45wake your ass up. No, crazy thing is, I feel like
- 17:48in our family, if you're in tune with that kind of stuff, the
- 17:52spiritual stuff, like I tune it out, like I don't want to see
- 17:55that shit. I don't want to.
- 17:56I'm the same way. I mean, now that I don't know if
- 17:59I'm just scared of it, but I don't know.
- 18:01But my son, he actually saw stuff too in the house.
- 18:04Like, yeah, like he can talk to the spirits through his toys
- 18:08type shit. Not yeah.
- 18:10And he? Was probably like.
- 18:11That's why I don't want a kid, because I like kicking.
- 18:13Cuz when they're little, they that.
- 18:15I feel like shut the fuck up, get out of my room right now.
- 18:19He was probably like 4 at the time, four or five and like
- 18:22telling me these things and I'm like.
- 18:24What did I show you? Just, I mean, people will come
- 18:27through and talk to him and like, and I don't know, there
- 18:30were just crazy stories. Like even my cousin, she is a
- 18:34spiritual healer and it's crazy. OK, so this is going back to
- 18:38like me being pregnant with Trey.
- 18:40Like, so I think Trey was supposed to be a twin.
- 18:45And so basically, yes, the vanishing twin syndrome type
- 18:49thing. And so like, she would see stuff
- 18:51at that house. I lived on Woodlawn and all of
- 18:55Trey's toys were in this room downstairs.
- 18:57And she would be like, yeah, I see a little boy playing with
- 19:00these toys, but it's not Trey. And, you know, he's obviously
- 19:03not here. So I'm just like, what the fuck?
- 19:05Like, Trey's supposed to be a twin.
- 19:07And like, I had this little boy playing down there.
- 19:09Like, this is crazy. Yeah.
- 19:12There's a lot of shit that happened in that house, so I'm
- 19:15glad I'm out. But it wasn't like something
- 19:17that I was freaked out about. Like I lived there for years and
- 19:20I'm like, no, I ain't scared of shit.
- 19:21It was a little bit in the ghetto, but like I was, I was
- 19:23never. I mean, like I was, I was at
- 19:25first, but then like you just say fuck it, it's our home.
- 19:28Like it's, it's our home, you know, So like there's times that
- 19:31we like we staged the house to Sage.
- 19:35Yes, Sage, Sage the house. She's talking to my realtor.
- 19:40So sorry, but yeah, we staged. Fresh off the boat, if you all
- 19:44didn't know. For real, we saged the house and
- 19:47then I remember like the the safest, the safest spot in that
- 19:52house was my room. Yeah 'cause I was not afraid.
- 19:56I don't know. I I was never afraid of it,
- 19:58'cause your even your cousin's just like they're afraid of you,
- 20:02so they're. Like.
- 20:03So because I was like, I, I kept telling them I'm like, if you're
- 20:07here, come, come here, come here, come here.
- 20:09More like get away. And then and then like, and then
- 20:12like, we'll just sometimes like Marina and Trey will sleep in my
- 20:15room too as well. And we like girl, I don't.
- 20:20Remember this because I you know, I don't like sleeping with
- 20:22people. No, you slept in the room with
- 20:24me too before, but you guys went into the room.
- 20:27But yeah, we did the sage thing and then it like left the house,
- 20:34but it is like still outside. And then I don't know.
- 20:37I don't know what was happening after that.
- 20:39But ever since then it was just like normal.
- 20:41Now just. Crazy shit happened in the owls.
- 20:43Yeah, yeah, I, I believe in spirits and all of that.
- 20:47Like I think like cuz grew up Catholic, you know?
- 20:49So then like, I just feel like it's a tug there.
- 20:52So I can't watch movies about like possession and conjuring
- 20:55and stuff like that. Anyway.
- 20:56Like the good spirits. Like the good spirits come to
- 20:58me. Yeah, cuz like those like really
- 21:00freaked me out. Like one time, I think it was
- 21:03The Conjuring or the first one or second one.
- 21:06One of my really good friends was in town.
- 21:07This was a long time ago. And she was like, I really want
- 21:10to watch this movie, Let's go. And we decided to go on a Bender
- 21:12that day. So I was like, OK, I think I'll
- 21:15be fine to watch this because I'm drunk.
- 21:17Like I'm not going to pay attention.
- 21:19So like we go to the movie theater, I pass out and I'll
- 21:22fucking wake up to all of this stuff.
- 21:24And I'm like, OK, I think I'll be fine though.
- 21:27I'll be. Fine.
- 21:27It was kind of scary when you're sleeping.
- 21:30Yeah, and I thought it was fine, but then like 2 weeks later, I'm
- 21:32having the worst nightmares because I was remembering
- 21:34everything from Oh my God. And I was like, OK, I still
- 21:37can't do this stuff. Or that one time that like that
- 21:41story with my previous roommate and then remember that I would
- 21:44like go and stay at your house for a minute.
- 21:46Oh yeah. The whole, like the whole that
- 21:50was wild. Yeah.
- 21:51We, I don't know that we can really talk about that.
- 21:54But that was wild. That was scary.
- 21:55Like, that was like also talking like, yes, possession and like
- 21:59this person going through a, what is it called when you're
- 22:03like, an exorcism? Yeah.
- 22:05Yeah, it was a while. Oh, that was so scary.
- 22:08You remember the video? Yeah, I do.
- 22:11We were like saying we. Were eating dinner, you and I.
- 22:14And. They told us a lot.
- 22:15We were like, yeah, we're not. Let's Fanny sleep at my house
- 22:18tonight. Yeah, I was trying to convince
- 22:20you to sleep at mine because I hadn't saged my house.
- 22:23Yeah, I was like, hell no, Fanny, I'm not sleeping here
- 22:25like you come to my house. Yes, I remember I stayed there
- 22:28for a minute too. I feel like I just, I couldn't,
- 22:31I could not sleep at my house for a while.
- 22:33You just. Outweighed it.
- 22:34Yeah, like I'm in that room. Like I just remember like, OK, I
- 22:38I definitely need to sage it now and I need to like do a full
- 22:42cleanse. I'm about to go ask the father
- 22:43to come and cleanse my house too.
- 22:45And I'm calling my mom. I'm like, mom, hey, how do I
- 22:50make these crosses right now? And then like I need some Abu
- 22:53Vendita. Tell me like the prayers that I
- 22:56need to do because we're cleaning all this, man.
- 23:01OK, but so you? Oh my God, I don't even know.
- 23:04I know. No, we stopped.
- 23:06No, you're good. You're good.
- 23:07I mean, this is this is how this is how the podcast goes.
- 23:09You go from one thing and then you go on and on to the next
- 23:12thing, so it's OK. Yeah, this is how we do it.
- 23:14Yeah, this is our style. Yeah, so, OK, back to the sweet
- 23:18stuff. Let's see, I finished school.
- 23:21And then even when I was in school, I'm like, OK, my plan
- 23:24was to buy a house. I'm going to renovate it.
- 23:27I'm going to have suites inside the house.
- 23:28That's something I own. And I have other, you know,
- 23:31workers artist there. I had two nail girls or I had
- 23:36one nail girl and another esthetician.
- 23:38And then I also worked in there. So we basically finished the
- 23:41house and I had workers there for about a year.
- 23:46And then my ass, you know, comes up with another plan.
- 23:49I'm like, Oh yeah, I'm going to have a commercial space in like
- 23:515 years. But then it happened within like
- 23:55a month of talking about it. So you're like really speaking
- 23:58everything into? Existence I met a lady that was
- 24:02like, I have a building and like I'm not doing anything with it.
- 24:05And so I went to go check it out and I it's a older building
- 24:09downtown and I'm just thinking in my head like all the things
- 24:12that I can do with it, you know. So I fixed up that place,
- 24:15renovated it and I had hair stylist, nail artists and
- 24:20esthetitians there on Yeah, I just lose my train of thought
- 24:26with my ADHD. It's.
- 24:28OK. But yeah, so I did all the.
- 24:30People in your. Place, yeah, I had people there
- 24:33and I worked there as well. So that lasted maybe a year,
- 24:37year and a half. And then now I'm at Skin
- 24:40Essentials with the girls. We're all able to move into that
- 24:44space. So I just decided not to renew
- 24:46my lease because there was just a lot of things that we're going
- 24:50wrong and I wasn't able to, I guess not really keep up with
- 24:55it. I was keeping up with it, but I
- 24:56was also going through a lot, like finding out I was pregnant
- 24:59again. I had to move out like of my
- 25:02house and, you know, just break up breakups and relationships
- 25:05and stuff like that. So I was just going through a
- 25:08lot and I'm like, OK, what do I need to do next?
- 25:10Like what is beneficial for me? So I'm lucky I found a place
- 25:14that like, was able to take me and my other girls in and we're
- 25:18still together and yeah, so that's where we're at now.
- 25:22I love that. And it's College Hill area, so
- 25:24it's, you know, just a beautiful, it's just, it's down
- 25:27the street from here, but it's a beautiful area.
- 25:30We're going to have to go. I haven't been yet because how
- 25:32was the back to school event? It was good.
- 25:35We had permanent jewelry and a matcha coffee lady there.
- 25:40We're supposed to have a Botox lady.
- 25:41But yeah, it was a last minute event that I planned.
- 25:45So it was, I contacted a bunch of vendors, but I'm like, OK,
- 25:49I'm not going to make it a huge thing because you know, back to
- 25:52school is like now and I have to figure out something now.
- 25:55So it was a good event though. So what leads you into the
- 25:58events too? Because.
- 26:00Events. Yeah, because you told us about
- 26:03going into the commercial space a little bit about the master's
- 26:06degree. What gets you into events too?
- 26:08Or it's all just kind of happening at the same time?
- 26:11Kind of happening at the same time, like I just planned so
- 26:13many of my own events like birthday parties and I don't
- 26:16know, other people's parties. And I'm always the one like kind
- 26:19of directing people like what to do this and that.
- 26:21And it's not that I I want to be an event planner eventually, but
- 26:27it's also like I just kind of get put in charge sometimes.
- 26:31So like this past. Event.
- 26:32I mean, like earlier we were trying to set up the camera and
- 26:35then like all the cooks in the kitchen are headed over there.
- 26:37Emily's looking we do as and now that we're on video, you guys
- 26:43are going to see this. Oh my God, I forgot.
- 26:45Sorry. OK.
- 26:46I'm just so excited about that because I've been trying to get
- 26:48on to Dusty about that forever to get on video.
- 26:51And so I'm so glad that we're. Yeah, OK, sorry.
- 26:54Emily's face was we're going to zoom into that.
- 26:57She is not happy. Enough she has her liquid.
- 26:59IV Oh, but the pineapple bar. I have the liquid IV here.
- 27:02OK, sorry. I know I can't.
- 27:07Like before I could do shots, but right now I'm just like oh
- 27:10shit, OK, keep going. Sorry, Marina.
- 27:13Sip it. We can take the shot first, OK,
- 27:16She's. Like no, no.
- 27:18She's. Worried I take the shot already.
- 27:21Fuck. Hey, somebody has a heavy hand.
- 27:23Oh. Really.
- 27:24It looks like a baby shot. Oh, yes, we have an intern.
- 27:28Thank you, Corey. Appreciate you.
- 27:30Love you. You're the best.
- 27:38For someone who is really hungover me, I think that one
- 27:41was better than the first one. The first one was really hard.
- 27:45If you're hungover, a shot will help you.
- 27:48Those are. Sayings.
- 27:49It's called the hair of the dog. The hair of the dog.
- 27:52I've never heard of that. I mean, Mexicans say that too,
- 27:54but I don't believe it. Like, I think that we're just
- 27:57Alcoholics. Sometimes science.
- 28:00Science proved. It science proved it, really.
- 28:03It's because it's getting you back to being where you were
- 28:07when you were buzzed and drunk. It's getting you back into that
- 28:10state versus heading back towards recovery.
- 28:15God, that sounds dangerous. I did.
- 28:16That sounds dangerous. Oh.
- 28:18Shit, Yeah, yeah, it is. I mean.
- 28:20Delaying your recovery. I feel like, well, the alcohol
- 28:25doesn't mix well with my meds. So like, I'm pretty good, you
- 28:29know, And then like, and then I drink alcohol and so then all of
- 28:32my shit comes back. You're like damn.
- 28:35Yeah, yeah. And then I'm like, well, I
- 28:36relapsed again. I'm sorry.
- 28:38I'm sorry. Angela.
- 28:39That's the name of my therapist. I was gonna say that's not your
- 28:41name, Fanny. Is that your alter ego?
- 28:45No, that that's my therapist. I come into the sessions and I'm
- 28:48like, so I Speaking of relapsing, Oh my God, remember
- 28:52how I told you that like my toxic trait is still the like
- 28:56neck tattoos last night what there was a beautiful man.
- 29:04Was that your blind date? No, no, no.
- 29:08Did you shoot your shot? I did because I I wasn't going
- 29:12to. You did.
- 29:13Yeah, I was not going to because I I typically wouldn't, you
- 29:17know, but I saw the next. Back then she used to be a pussy
- 29:20on that shit. I'm so.
- 29:22Big ass. Pussy I would never forget when
- 29:25it was her, me and Jocelyn all together at the house, remember?
- 29:30And when I shot my shot. Yeah, when she shot her shot
- 29:33after years, her shot went down. We're like it's OK if any you
- 29:39tried. It went down because I didn't
- 29:43know, so OK. What did you say?
- 29:45So I didn't say. All she said was like, your work
- 29:50is nice, no? No, no, no, no, I am.
- 29:54Emily. Emily has the most.
- 29:55She does. She has.
- 29:56The most? Game she, I remember not.
- 29:58I don't know how she has so much in the club.
- 30:01And she just be like, oh, we got free.
- 30:04Like how do? You do that remember we got I
- 30:07got free drinks from that guy. He's like, here's 100 Back then,
- 30:10$100 was a lot, you know, and I was like, I came out and I'm
- 30:13like, look, guys, I got $100. Get some shots.
- 30:16I. Mean dude, that still would be a
- 30:17lot. You know, no, I like Emily would
- 30:20be able to get a new Apple Watches.
- 30:21She'd be getting new. Shot, I remember that.
- 30:23Yes, she'd be getting iPads like I can't be like I'm.
- 30:27Sorry, sorry, don't expose me. But no, for all that, I'm like,
- 30:32oh, you haven't even met him. No, I.
- 30:35Didn't want to. I just wanted to see if he will
- 30:37buy it and he didn't. I'm like oh shit.
- 30:39That's why I'm like, Emily, what is your secret?
- 30:42I. Didn't even I I've tried to
- 30:44learn from Emily because like I again I am a big ass pussy with
- 30:47that like huge. I'm too nice.
- 30:49I'm like, oh. I'm scared like that's my
- 30:52problem. Like I get too scared.
- 30:54During when we live together, Marina will go through like, you
- 30:58know, relationships and I've always been protective with
- 31:03Marina on her relationships cuz I'm always like.
- 31:05Which ones? Except one, but then all the
- 31:09other ones I was like Nah fuck this good.
- 31:11When I first moved up here, OK I didn't officially move up here,
- 31:16but Emily had two other roommates and I basically was
- 31:21like couch surfing. I'm like I'm so thankful y'all
- 31:23let me. Basically they called me their
- 31:25roommate and I never paid nothing.
- 31:27Nothing, no, our house back then the townhouse was like everybody
- 31:31lived there like what's it called?
- 31:34Janessa, Janessa even she had her own apartment, she still
- 31:36lived over there. Ileana and then you and it was
- 31:40it was like a fun time like that townhouse was really fun.
- 31:43We. Had two other people there that
- 31:45were actually there. Yeah, and but it it was a really
- 31:49good time. Like like, like I am so glad
- 31:52that me and Marina has still been like best friends ever
- 31:54since then. I was.
- 31:56We go through our shit, but man, it was.
- 31:58I have to bring up this one time, though.
- 32:00Yeah. OK, so I was driving back and
- 32:03forth from Winfield, that's where my hometown is, and trying
- 32:06to move up to Wichita. Are you?
- 32:07Talking about that time. Escape from my hometown.
- 32:11Like, I'm like, OK, Wichita is where I am going to move 'cause
- 32:15I just need to get away from this small town.
- 32:17But so I, I remember the first job I got was, I think it was
- 32:22Logan. There was, Oh my God, it was the
- 32:23first people that called me, I hate wearing jeans.
- 32:26I hate wearing fucking Plaid shirts.
- 32:28How to clean up peanuts. Anyways, So yeah, I worked
- 32:31there. And then I finally got a job at
- 32:33the hospital and I started working nights.
- 32:35So Emily was watching Trey. Yeah, helping me babysit and
- 32:39watch Trey. And I remember coming home and I
- 32:41see Emily and her sootnan, which is like a Asian gown, like a
- 32:46sleeping gown. Fucking ass out Trey was and.
- 32:52Trey was just sleeping next to her, the amount of.
- 32:54Times I've seen Emily's butt crack and her whole ass man
- 32:57like. I'm like, you ain't sleeping my
- 32:59yourself right now. I'm OK.
- 33:00My kid is right there. It was so funny.
- 33:03It was just hilarious. Because I sleep crazy.
- 33:05I know, I know. It was so.
- 33:09Funny that house is so fun though.
- 33:11Like we had parties and we thought we were so cool because.
- 33:15We thought we were so cool. We had the WSU.
- 33:17Yes, we had these couches. They were my couches at we're at
- 33:22that house and we're like, Oh my God, these couches are going to
- 33:24be famous because these WSU basketball players, Fredman, he.
- 33:28Was this is like their final four?
- 33:31Yeah. They were all at our house
- 33:32partying and we thought we were so cool it.
- 33:34Was so funny, was Dusty D Jing. Dusty wasn't there during those
- 33:37times. So Dusty was there for maybe
- 33:39like four years after that, OK. OK, but you know, it's funny.
- 33:42Like we still bring it up to this day and we laugh so hard
- 33:45about it. And he's famous now.
- 33:48We're like our girl could have, you know, been with her or not
- 33:50her. But Fred.
- 33:52Yeah, yeah. So you guys didn't sell the
- 33:55couches and say like, hey, where is the couches?
- 33:57That. You know what's funny?
- 33:59I know where those couches are. Where?
- 34:01So I brought them back to my parents house and then my mom
- 34:04gave it away to her friend. And so it's at a family friend's
- 34:07house and so those houses are still living on and that.
- 34:10Couch that house came, went to my first apartment and then went
- 34:13to Marine. House and.
- 34:15Then went to the our other townhouse.
- 34:17It's like. Sisterhood of the Traveling
- 34:19Couch. Literally.
- 34:20It literally was I. Love that.
- 34:23Oh yeah. Hot Topic OK, so where we at?
- 34:26We're at. So we start talking about
- 34:31planning and. Yeah, it's not really an
- 34:34official thing. It's just something I do and
- 34:36it's what. She likes to do.
- 34:37Yeah, yeah, yeah. Love it.
- 34:40Yeah. But when everybody, when you
- 34:42hear, oh, hey, Marina's doing something, we're like, oh man,
- 34:45what's she doing now? I know that's what I think about
- 34:48like every time I graduate or something.
- 34:51I'm like, they're really fucking tired of coming to my
- 34:54graduations because what more can?
- 34:56She do. Yeah.
- 34:58How are you balancing this mom vote mode versus party mode or
- 35:01what were you going to say? Sorry, no go for.
- 35:04It OK. Party mode.
- 35:06Yeah, how are you balancing mom in party mode?
- 35:08Like bro there. You have three of them?
- 35:09No, I do. I do actually manage my time
- 35:13really well so. It's the ADHD, it's when it
- 35:16kicks in and you're able to lock in.
- 35:17And like, if you invite me to something, I'm there, you know,
- 35:20I'm always there. She's.
- 35:21Marina's a down to kick it person.
- 35:23Yeah, I I'm lucky with everything.
- 35:26Like I had to start texting. You more sorry.
- 35:28Yeah, go for it. I'm always looking for someone
- 35:32to come do stuff with me. But also I'm like really random
- 35:34sometimes, yeah. Then I'll just be like, I'll see
- 35:37it and then I'm like, oh, I'm going to go to that.
- 35:39Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'm more of a well, I have to
- 35:42figure out is there kids or no kids?
- 35:43Because then I got to figure out, you know, planning and
- 35:46stuff. But with all my jobs and kids,
- 35:52yeah. How the fuck dude actually
- 35:55seriously, I don't know, running a studio?
- 35:58Your full time jobs maybe? Like a year or two ago, like I
- 36:01did not have my shit together. I, I'm just lucky and blessed
- 36:04that like the jobs that I do have, have a great work life
- 36:08balance, you know, like home life balance.
- 36:10And so cuz I am like the sole caregiver, like I am the one,
- 36:14you know, taking them to school, picking them up, going to every
- 36:17game, going to practices, doctor's appointments, dentist
- 36:19appointments, like just everything.
- 36:21So I'm lucky like all my jobs, like they appreciate me and
- 36:26value my time and like, respect me.
- 36:28And if I need to offer something, I'm just like, OK,
- 36:30I'm going to flex my time and like, you know, I need an
- 36:33appointment during lunchtime and like, but everything I do, I'm
- 36:39able to manage it. I guess.
- 36:40Like, I don't know, it just took me years to get to where I am
- 36:44and balance it with my kids because that's the number one
- 36:47thing I want to do is always be present with them.
- 36:49Like I always want to make it to a game.
- 36:51But it's like, you know how I think it's also with Hispanic
- 36:55culture too as well. Like, you know, parents would
- 36:57never make it to your kids stuff because they're always.
- 37:01Working. Yeah, they didn't have no.
- 37:02Choice so like, you know how US like when we had like a program
- 37:05or like a soccer game or anything like that, your parents
- 37:09will drop you off. They're like, OK, we'll come
- 37:10back and pick you up because they have to work or something,
- 37:14you know, Yeah, that's why like we, our generation right now,
- 37:18we're like, OK, we want to be more present with our kids.
- 37:20We want to like show our kids that we will support you through
- 37:24anything else. You know what I mean?
- 37:26Like that's why with your son Trey, he's so fucking good.
- 37:31Like, like he like that kid is so chill and understanding and
- 37:35everything like that. Back in the day he was a little
- 37:38asshole, but he but he, he grew up to be a really good, good
- 37:42kid. Yeah, I think like, I mean,
- 37:46really like our parents kind of did lay that groundwork, though,
- 37:48for us to be able to be blessed, to have jobs that allow us to
- 37:52have that balance. Yeah.
- 37:54Because you're right. Like, man, how much like I wish
- 37:57that I could have done something or the amount of times that like
- 38:00I like I growing up, like not being able to do a lot of things
- 38:03because like who's going to pick me up or like it doesn't align
- 38:05with my dad's schedule and my mom really can't drive.
- 38:08So you have to figure out like, you have to sacrifice what you
- 38:11want to do. Like with Jayden, when he was a
- 38:13preemie, I was a freshman and then I had to quit soccer
- 38:18because I, I have to take care of Jayden and my mom couldn't
- 38:20take care of him, you know, And then my dad had the liquor
- 38:22store. So I had to sacrifice, you know,
- 38:24what I want to do. So basically you just have to
- 38:27grow up, you know, you grow up too young, you know?
- 38:30But I. Think that's so true for our
- 38:32culture? Sorry, go.
- 38:32Ahead. Yeah, so like right now, Jayden,
- 38:34like he's that kid is so blessed.
- 38:36Yes, he's blessed. That motherfucker is blessed as
- 38:39fuck. That's how the idea is.
- 38:41Oh, like man. The thing that's also like damn,
- 38:44it's you're so spoiled. No for real, you're but it's
- 38:46because we. You know, because we, you know,
- 38:49we want them to have everything. Yeah.
- 38:50And it's hard though, right? Like, it's hard because like, I
- 38:53think like me, Vera and Chairman, like we're so, like we
- 38:56also grew up so fast. Yeah.
- 38:58And then like the idea, on the other hand, she's getting to be
- 39:01able to be her age and go through all the motions and go
- 39:04through all the hard stuff like. I'm standing like life is
- 39:07hitting at her and you're just like this has been lady like
- 39:11Jayden too, Like Jayden just got just hit a fucking dumpster and
- 39:15he's like it took him a day to tell me like a day, but I knew
- 39:21about it. And what about what about his
- 39:24wreck like. He literally hit a dumpster.
- 39:27Yeah, I didn't know what. Like the first one he called was
- 39:29Alex. And I was like, and Alex was
- 39:32good for him. Yeah.
- 39:32And Alex was like, don't tell him I told you this.
- 39:35I'll say what happened. He goes, I don't know.
- 39:38Alex was like, I don't want him to, like, think that he can't
- 39:41come to me to think to me no more Fair.
- 39:44And I was like, OK, so I said, no, tell me.
- 39:47I need to know. So he's like, but don't say
- 39:48anything until he tells you. And I, he told me what happened.
- 39:51And then I was like, all right, I'm just gonna shut up and see
- 39:54if you can say something. So the whole day I was like, So
- 39:58what did you do today, Jayden? How was your day, Jayden?
- 40:01Like Jayden was like, why? Why?
- 40:04Why do you care so much? Yeah.
- 40:05Why? Why do you care?
- 40:06So Jayden's a college. He's in college right now.
- 40:08So he's a student athlete? A young adult.
- 40:11Yes, and then I was like, OK, so then.
- 40:16But he finally told you. Night time came.
- 40:18We're having dinner. Jayden, how was practice today?
- 40:20It was good. Oh, anything else?
- 40:24No. OK, so I, I like going with my
- 40:27room. Like this motherfucker still
- 40:29hasn't told me. But he was afraid to tell me
- 40:33because, you know, I, because I raised him, you know, So he's
- 40:36like, my sister's gonna, you know.
- 40:39It's not gonna go out. My sister's going off.
- 40:41Fucking kill me. Not worry about his parents, but
- 40:43worry about the sister. Yeah, yeah, for sure.
- 40:46Yeah. Yeah, I I can't be too hard on
- 40:48Jaden for this though, because like the amount of times that I
- 40:51wrecked cars, I wrecked hella cars like.
- 40:53My family. Well, Jake, I tell Jaden every
- 40:56day before he goes to school or leaves anywhere.
- 40:59Be careful, Be careful. Be careful.
- 41:00Be careful. Yeah, I tell him every.
- 41:02Just want them to be safe. Just.
- 41:03Be safe, be careful, 'cause that's my kid out in the world,
- 41:06you know, like you, you don't know what's gonna happen.
- 41:08Like, oh, someone's gonna cut him off and and like, you know,
- 41:11they come at him, you can't be there to protect him, you know
- 41:13what I mean? But at the same time, like,
- 41:15Jayden needs to understand that he needs to protect himself too,
- 41:18as well. Yeah, yeah.
- 41:20Learn. So that's where we at right now.
- 41:24How old is? Trey, he's 14 and he's.
- 41:26Already, so he's getting up there too.
- 41:28He just turned 14 and like freshman like 12, he's been
- 41:31trying to like get me to get him a car and this and that and
- 41:35teach him how to drive. And I'm like, you're so young
- 41:37still. Like I want him to, but I don't
- 41:39want him to grow up too fast. And you want us to be a kid, you
- 41:41know? And I'm like, I know I can teach
- 41:43you how to drive, but other people can, you know, like you
- 41:45said, things can happen and I don't want that's your.
- 41:48Baby. Yeah, that's your baby.
- 41:50You know, like, like you don't want, like you want him to grow
- 41:53up at the same time you don't want him to grow up 'cause you
- 41:54still want him to be around you. Yeah.
- 41:57And then you're just like, OK, I do have to teach him the what's
- 42:00gonna happen now in the real world because if he goes out, So
- 42:04what's that word? Sheltered.
- 42:07He would not know what to do. Yeah.
- 42:09And that's why I try to talk to him about stuff cuz he's always
- 42:12like he doesn't realize how good he has.
- 42:14I'm like when I was younger. Like he hasn't made.
- 42:17My yeah, my parents, I put myself into like, sports.
- 42:20So I was also like a tennis player, soccer player.
- 42:24I'm basketball. I did track.
- 42:26And I also, yeah. Did you do volleyball too?
- 42:28No, no, it. Wasn't I did soccer in college?
- 42:31I remember then he's like, what happened?
- 42:32I was like, well, I got pregnant with you.
- 42:35No, I'm living through him and he's, yeah, he's like a really
- 42:38good. Soccer player.
- 42:38Football player. Yeah.
- 42:42So how are you? Like, yeah, as you're raising
- 42:45your kids too, like, you know, making sure that they're not
- 42:49sheltered, but they're also still enjoying, like their youth
- 42:51and making sure that they're not growing up fast.
- 42:53But you want to share like things that were passed from
- 42:56your family that you do want to keep and things that you.
- 42:58Don't like, like I mentioned to him, things like my parents were
- 43:02never at games. Like you don't realize how lucky
- 43:04I am to be able to get off work, go to every single game, you
- 43:08know, just even be able to pick you up.
- 43:09Like I would walk to school, I would walk to the games.
- 43:12Like, well, granted it was a smaller town, but like I'm like
- 43:15at your age or younger than you, I did things myself because my
- 43:19parents were always working and just even going back to my
- 43:24hometown, like we have had the same house for like 3540 years.
- 43:28Like we still have that house and Trey will go there and he
- 43:33gets like a wake up call like, you know, because no one's
- 43:35really there. My mom, she works out of state
- 43:38so she's only there like every couple months, but it's not as
- 43:42like clean as it would be because no ones living there.
- 43:46So, you know, you'll see spiders or this and that and he's just
- 43:49like, Oh my God. Like he's so scared of all these
- 43:52insects and you know, there might be like cockroaches or
- 43:56something. And I'm like, you don't realize
- 43:57I lived in that, you know, like you.
- 44:00Used. To live in, Yeah.
- 44:02And growing up, your parents don't know you.
- 44:04Fucking sleep with them too. You're like, fucking.
- 44:07Your parents don't know. Like, yeah.
- 44:08We have, we have pest control now, like I have pest control
- 44:12that's coming to my house and doing this because I don't, I
- 44:14don't, yeah, I don't fuck with that.
- 44:16Buck No, no, Yeah. Our parents don't know to like
- 44:19call pest control or there's people that do these things and
- 44:22people don't do it. Just shoot.
- 44:23They're just like, oh, kill it, you know, I lived through.
- 44:26That for me it was, we didn't have that issue.
- 44:29But like living out on a ranch, all the cows, all the horses,
- 44:33you know, all the fucking flies everywhere.
- 44:36Yeah, all the time. That's the thing that I always
- 44:38hated is the fucking flies. And kids nowadays, they're like,
- 44:41they don't want to get dirty. Like I'll tell Trey, hey, take
- 44:44the trash can to the, you know, to the side of the driveway or
- 44:47whatever. And I can see him, like,
- 44:50grabbing it and, and his friend and him had an idea.
- 44:53They're like, oh, yeah, we want to come up with a business where
- 44:55we can clean trash cans. And I'm just looking at him
- 44:57like, boy, you can barely touch the trash can without getting
- 45:00grossed out. You know, there's a company.
- 45:03But it's a good idea. It's a good idea.
- 45:05It's pretty cool. Have you guys seen those
- 45:06companies? They went to your house and they
- 45:08just like fucking takes. They have like a like a big ass
- 45:12van or whatever truck. It takes the trash can and it
- 45:17puts it there in the water and it's like spraying everywhere.
- 45:19Oh my gosh, that's funny. That's pretty cool.
- 45:21Damn. But yeah.
- 45:23Cuz yeah, trash cans, you'll be getting pretty gross.
- 45:25Yeah I'll be car washing my trash cans.
- 45:27I'll be like oh fuck is this thing so bad cuz Everly her shit
- 45:30and pee all together. Dude, girl, I'm not a good
- 45:33combination. Shit, yeah.
- 45:37But yeah, I just tried to remind him, like all the things like
- 45:40that you should be grateful for, like, because we have like we
- 45:44moved within the last year a couple of times.
- 45:46And even when we're living in a big house, you know, he's going
- 45:50to this predominantly white school that's, you know, rich
- 45:54and all this. And I'm like, we lived in this
- 45:56big house and you're never like, oh, yeah, we're rich, you know,
- 45:59But then now we're we're in a smaller home.
- 46:01And I'm like, you have to be lucky that we have a house.
- 46:03Some people don't have that, you know, food on the table,
- 46:06shelter, like everything. So I just, I don't get that.
- 46:08Yeah. So I just try to remind him
- 46:10like, you have to be humble. Like you don't realize you get
- 46:13everything that you want and need, you know so.
- 46:17Oh yeah, no, it's. Deciding those talks with him,
- 46:19yeah. For sure.
- 46:20Like for me, it's like going back to Mexico, like seeing how
- 46:23we started, seeing how our family started.
- 46:26And then it's like, yeah, like now, like, I am blessed.
- 46:29I have worked really hard for all of this, but it wasn't
- 46:31something that was handed. Like this is hella grind mode
- 46:34since like since like teenager because like that's all you know
- 46:38to do. Yeah, that is.
- 46:39True, I feel like that's so true in like a lot of our like our
- 46:42cultures like it's just grind mode like and also just like
- 46:46immigrant cultures in general, like you just sort of like, OK,
- 46:51I'm here you have. To do it.
- 46:52Like, yeah, you have to show up. You just have to, you know, I
- 46:57was actually even speaking on that, like I was thinking or I
- 47:00saw this on me too. I like that profile.
- 47:03We are me too from like on Instagram and stuff like that.
- 47:06And so it was talking about like snacks that made you realize
- 47:10that maybe you weren't as rich as you thought you were growing
- 47:13up. And then it was like, oh, the
- 47:15branded cereal for me. Like.
- 47:18Like Ocean, we're really going to buy this.
- 47:20I used to do when I was younger was I had like slices of cheese
- 47:25and I wouldn't microwave it. I don't know I'm fucking weird,
- 47:28but I wouldn't microwave it until it was like crispy like a
- 47:31cheese, like a cheese, and that sounds disgusting.
- 47:35No, it's actually good. OK, that's.
- 47:38Gross. No, dude, back then I don't.
- 47:40Mean it was weird. I'm like, I don't know, cheese
- 47:42not burnt, OK? It's like crunchy, OK.
- 47:44It's like a cheese it like how you would toast.
- 47:46It in the microwave or in the oven?
- 47:48I mean, I, I was younger, I did it in the microwave, but I'm
- 47:51like. I'm like what?
- 47:54I no I remember I would eat salt and and sticky rice.
- 47:59Oh, I was going to say that too. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 48:02My parents would always give me that it.
- 48:04Was more of my little cousins that did that, but yeah, we'll
- 48:06do it. Speaking of things that we need
- 48:10to put in our mouths. Take a break.
- 48:13Yes, it's time to pour up. OK, let's go for a break.
- 48:16This is true break. Go pee.
- 48:17We'll be. Right back.
- 48:32Here's to you. It's supported by One Life
- 48:34Spirits. One Life Spirits is built on
- 48:37purpose, culture, good people and good drinks so you can live
- 48:40one life to the fullest. That means shots that are
- 48:43smooth, tasteful, and pair perfectly with a lime.
- 48:46Or our favorite, in orange. Because if you're still chasing
- 48:49tequila with it, lime, what are you doing?
- 48:52That orange slice brings out the bright citrus notes of Unavida
- 48:56Blanco, which is smooth, authentic and tasteful.
- 48:59Like myself. Plus, Una Vida is 100% additive
- 49:03free, so you're enjoying tequila in its purest form without the
- 49:07hangover regret. Yeah, because it takes us three
- 49:10to five business days to recover now, and Hangzad is not my
- 49:13friend. That's why you should stick with
- 49:17una Vida or try cocktails instead of shots.
- 49:19Okay, a little bit little. One Life Spirits also crafts El
- 49:22Drago High Post vodkas and LeBron whiskey all bold, smooth
- 49:26and made to share. Whether it's game night, date
- 49:29night or just Tuesday night, they've got the pores covered.
- 49:32Because it's not just about taste, but it's about that
- 49:34feeling. And we're proud spirits knobs.
- 49:37So treat yourself. Visit onelifespirits.com, swing
- 49:41by the One Life Spirits bar inside of El Primo, or grab a
- 49:45bottle at your local liquor store.
- 49:47Cheers. That's what I was like.
- 49:50Do you guys crops of? Owls.
- 49:51Yeah, sometimes. Yeah, we do stuff.
- 49:54Out. OK, let's.
- 49:55Go ahead, cut my cheese. It's all then.
- 49:57No, that's it. You name bro?
- 49:58They're. Really like what the?
- 50:00Fuck clipping that girls. I'm going to be a mean.
- 50:03That's the one that's going to get the most interactions.
- 50:05Microwave cheese stays. Stays.
- 50:08It's going on this. Poor people.
- 50:10Shit, OK, you're. Going to bring us in, Emily?
- 50:20I thought you said you were. I was totally about you, and
- 50:22then you were like, you didn't bring us in, Emily.
- 50:24In my bucket. What's up guys?
- 50:27So we're back because everybody said she was going.
- 50:29To I was waiting for Dusty to say 1 and then I don't know he.
- 50:32Doesn't do that anymore. No, he goes like 3.
- 50:35Two and they're two, yeah. I was doing it and then.
- 50:40You it's OK, it's. OK, this is this is when he
- 50:43feels like beating me up. Welcome back.
- 50:46Break. Emily, what do you think of the
- 50:49drink? Man, you know, back then I was
- 50:53making the drinks. I don't know, Fanny.
- 50:55She she's stepping up her game. I'm stepping it.
- 50:58Up. I'm just kidding, but Fanny,
- 50:59this is really good. How?
- 51:00About you, Marina, what do you think?
- 51:02I lost your drink. I mean, I haven't had it for
- 51:04years. I just thought of it, but it's
- 51:05it's really good. For like, years, yeah.
- 51:09I. Think, I think back then is
- 51:10you're thinking pineapple Malibu.
- 51:12No, that's not mine. That was that was what we drank
- 51:15for a long time, yeah. Yeah, like we I'm a Haney gang,
- 51:19so I just was trying to think of a mixed drink with tequila.
- 51:23That's why she's the original ABG girl.
- 51:26But also just remember the guys, that's why we have One Life
- 51:28spirits because they have whiskey too.
- 51:30So we could always. I do have.
- 51:31Jamison, we could have done some dark.
- 51:33Man, yeah, you know what's my to go drink lately?
- 51:36It's fucking an old fashioned. Fashion I know you know I feel
- 51:41like the pod made us do that for me for me like the like I
- 51:44started to really get into old fashions and like go into like
- 51:48all the bourbons for a minute I. I I've been on this kick of old
- 51:51fashioned, so that's weird like. But they fuck you up quick if
- 51:54you're not, if you're not careful.
- 51:56Oh, yeah. I feel like for me, it's also
- 51:58like how I'm feeling, you know, like I feel like.
- 52:01It was like a long day. Yeah, yeah.
- 52:04Like in those moments, that's when I do want whiskey.
- 52:06That's when I want some something that like, I'm just
- 52:09gonna sip on and chill. In Are you saying you're turning
- 52:11into like an old rich man? Yeah.
- 52:14I am turning. I am rich.
- 52:16Yeah, my Rich. Hey you, you perfected it from
- 52:20last time. There's the poor lap.
- 52:23It's my poor lap. Poor lap came out.
- 52:26Poor lock, did you know? OK so this is off topic.
- 52:29No, my niece told me this so I asked her for a charger.
- 52:34Right. I have a work phone, and the
- 52:35work phone is like the regular charger, you know, like the main
- 52:39thing for iPhones. Yeah.
- 52:40And I told I was like, hey, do you have this charger?
- 52:43She goes, no, I don't have the broke charger.
- 52:45And I said I said what? And she goes, Auntie, I mean, I
- 52:49don't have that charger. I said I was like, what?
- 52:53I was like, hold on, what's the broke and what's the rich?
- 52:55And she goes, well when you have a seaport, that's the rich one.
- 52:59If you have the other one, that's the poor 1.
- 53:01And I was like, and I was like, well, my phone, my personal
- 53:04phone is the rich 1. So my work 1 is.
- 53:09The So you're rich because you got 2 phones.
- 53:11Yeah, exactly, exactly. Man, these kids just, they don't
- 53:14be respecting us somewhere. It's OK they're.
- 53:18Kids. Oh shit, I did sound like an
- 53:20rich old white guy when I said that.
- 53:22You're. Right, I am turning.
- 53:24I am turning into an old guy. So let's bring it back to
- 53:28Marina. So Marina, you know how like
- 53:30everybody says we're like the AB GS here and everything like that
- 53:36all. My AB GS get cute for me.
- 53:40That's my favorite song. I love jungle.
- 53:41He's still my #1. See, you even knew what song
- 53:44that was. From hell yeah.
- 53:46What did Jack? What's his name?
- 53:47He did the song Jack Harlow. There you go.
- 53:49Yeah. Yeah, they're coming back.
- 53:51I'm so excited. I am.
- 53:53I'm gonna fucking sell my house to go to the Are you?
- 53:55Gonna are you gonna get their Happy Meal toys?
- 53:58This coming September 3rd Yeah, I.
- 53:59Did you knew? I don't.
- 54:02Know the date. I know you put that you put that
- 54:04in your calendar. I I.
- 54:05Tried to get the Hello Kitty ones in, I kept getting the same
- 54:08thing. Three.
- 54:09I got three different ones. Oh, you did?
- 54:11Yeah. Yeah, I saw the turtle.
- 54:12The Ninja Turtle. Let's talk about this one.
- 54:14What the fuck is a la Boo Boo? Yeah, like it's those little
- 54:19weird things that are possessed. Dude, my stepdaughter, she was
- 54:22like, I want to loo Boo, Boo so bad.
- 54:23I want to loo. They're like.
- 54:25Little stuffed animals. I was like.
- 54:26What the fuck is? They're for adults.
- 54:28I thought they were for kids. No adults.
- 54:31They'd be adulting, like like gross stuff.
- 54:33For real, Jaden Jaden be wearing one on his pants and I'd be
- 54:36like, I don't think. There's a trend.
- 54:38They're not cute. But I do have a friend that
- 54:40sells them and she has like a ton of them and it's I bought
- 54:44one for my daughter but I'm like.
- 54:46They're 50 bucks. Girl there there's some the
- 54:50cases are like hundreds like 3. Do my stepdaughter, she's like
- 54:53Oh my God, I want 1 so bad and I was like OK I'll buy one.
- 54:57I thought it was like 30 bucks and then I went up and I said
- 54:59how much is it just like 5999? I said.
- 55:02I think there's some for like 20 but.
- 55:05But that's like, not the real 1. Yeah, Milano will be.
- 55:07She's like, is it verified? I'm like, girl, I don't know.
- 55:09I don't. Care at least the same thing
- 55:11she's like. Verified.
- 55:12She can verify the code. She goes, is this real?
- 55:15And I said, what do you mean? Is she it's real, right.
- 55:19And I said, I mean, it should be real.
- 55:21Cost me 60 bucks. It better be real.
- 55:23Yeah. Because she she open it.
- 55:25So like La Boo boo's like you, like you open it and you get a
- 55:28surprise, like it's a mystery. OK.
- 55:30That's why OK. Yeah.
- 55:31And then like, she was like, oh. So we're talking Polly Pockets
- 55:33right now? Yeah.
- 55:34Just that sounds like a Polly Pocket, yeah.
- 55:36She Oh my God, this is the one I wanted.
- 55:38And I was like, this is the only one you have, honey.
- 55:42You can dress them up like dolls and stuff, Like a Polly puddle,
- 55:45yeah. Yeah, the way that you just
- 55:48exclaimed, like man, this is 50 bucks, this is 60 bucks when
- 55:51earlier in the first segment you're like 100 bucks, isn't
- 55:54that much. I know it's like.
- 55:57That's true. That's true.
- 55:57Back then it's. Because she went into a mom
- 56:00mode, thought she. Was like at the club 100 bucks
- 56:02and. Oh yeah, the club is not doing
- 56:05anything because we like, we drink old fashioned.
- 56:08And Alex fashion date nights, look on our day nights he was
- 56:11like, damn honey, we spend like 80 bucks out here so that's not
- 56:14bad. Bro you your time used to be so
- 56:17so bad when it was just. Hey, no Marina.
- 56:19It was the same way. No, I remember that like.
- 56:22Marina you think my tab will be this girl is tab is twice in
- 56:26mind. Let me tell you something, even
- 56:27last night, OK, I got home and I'm like, fuck, I'm hungry, but
- 56:31I shouldn't eat right now. But I was craving seafood.
- 56:33So I'm like looking on DoorDash. I never I never DoorDash right?
- 56:37And. Especially seafood.
- 56:38Yeah, it was a meal that was like, which, you know, I love to
- 56:41get. I didn't get shit, but I was
- 56:43doing it and it was like $30, blah, blah.
- 56:45Check out $9090.00 and I'm like, I really want this for myself
- 56:49right now. I was like fuck it.
- 56:51No, no, I went to the kitchen and I made a fucking salad.
- 56:55Good. No, because.
- 56:57I'm like, I can go out to eat with my friends or something.
- 57:00Yeah, yeah. And I fucking eat by myself like
- 57:02a salad. So I'm like OK, I don't need
- 57:05this right now. I did this morning actually.
- 57:08I was working. I was like, man, I kind of want
- 57:10some breakfast, but then I didn't order it because I was
- 57:13like, I can use that money to go eat with my friends.
- 57:16And I went up to the fridge and I had my fried rice that I made
- 57:20from yesterday. So I was like, I'll just eat
- 57:21this for breakfast today. Yeah.
- 57:23Bro yeah, mine. 'S mine's just been my meal
- 57:25preps. I ordered pizza last night for
- 57:27Alex and Jayden and they wanted Nola's pizza, Dude, Nola's
- 57:31pizza's fucking bomb. It is.
- 57:33It's bomb. And I was like, got to check
- 57:37out, it said. I said 50 bucks.
- 57:40I found shit. I was like to deliver here.
- 57:43I said it's worth it because I ain't driving my ass down.
- 57:45There no dude I'm so bad with that.
- 57:47Like I have DoorDash ice cream. I have I never DoorDash and
- 57:51either DoorDash. And like DoorDash lattes.
- 57:55I'm on DoorDash plus, that's how much I DoorDash I.
- 58:00Really need to do that because like I'm so bad about that and
- 58:04like, fuck, it's, it's just like, listen, man, I worked hard
- 58:07for this. I worked hard for this money,
- 58:10you know. If I'm getting a fucking Taco,
- 58:12I'm getting a $50 Taco, no. To me, actually, no, that's
- 58:15where I draw the line. Like if a taco's really
- 58:17expensive, like I'm like, fuck no.
- 58:19Like I'm not doing that. Like Taco should not be 3 bucks,
- 58:234 bucks. If I see that, that's how I know
- 58:25a white person made it and I'm not eating that shit.
- 58:27Yeah, because I'm eating 5 or 7 tacos.
- 58:29Pull up Elfugam on DoorDash right now.
- 58:32Paula. Poo Elfugam.
- 58:34Oh yeah, air for one. Yeah, like all you air for one.
- 58:36Look at how much the tacos are. They went up.
- 58:40Dude, where's my tacos? I.
- 58:41Have my phone, I can't. Really good Taco.
- 58:45TJ's 6/4 or four or something like.
- 58:47That I still go for electron I like.
- 58:48Electron I like polio expressed. Oh, there was this.
- 58:52There's a new, like I sent it to you, a new Taco spot.
- 58:56Yeah. Yeah, the one that is open until
- 58:583:00 AM until last night because I was out.
- 59:00Like on the north side? Yeah, yeah.
- 59:02We went and looked for a canopy. Yes, we went and we looked for
- 59:05it and we found it and it was like super fucking late.
- 59:08And they were like, we ran out of food.
- 59:11And then I'm like yelling at them because, you know, I'm
- 59:13drunk and I'm yelling at them in Spanish.
- 59:14I'm like you said that you close at 3:00.
- 59:16No, no. No, no, no, no.
- 59:18Do do it in Spanish. I was like, pero SE EV vin
- 59:22Tierra. And then they're like, no, I
- 59:27went, OK, I'll be telling everyone I love them when I'm
- 59:32drunk. Let's go back to our topic.
- 59:36Yeah, we're talking about ABG stereotypes.
- 59:38Yeah. Which ones are facts?
- 59:40Which ones are myths? They're blonde.
- 59:43That's a fact. Okay, so they can be blonde, I
- 59:46mean. Not blonde right now but I've
- 59:47been blonde for like 10 years so.
- 59:50But I went back to blonde. I said fuck you guys.
- 59:53You need to understand like when people was like, oh, I'm gonna
- 59:56stay with my dark hair and everything.
- 59:58Like fuck no. Like you go through so much.
- 1:00:02You go through so much trauma and you're like fuck.
- 1:00:05I need to dye my. Hair.
- 1:00:05I need to dye my hair. Yeah, yeah, I cannot.
- 1:00:09Like I went back to dark to my hair when I was pregnant because
- 1:00:12I was like, OK, because I don't, I'm about to have a baby.
- 1:00:16I need to save my money to do this and that, you know?
- 1:00:18And then now I have my baby and I'm like fuck, I need to go back
- 1:00:21to my blonde hair. Like I need to go back to who I
- 1:00:23am. You know what I mean?
- 1:00:25You're ABG same with me, but like, yeah, when I had KOA, I'm
- 1:00:28like OK, I'm going to go back to my dark hair.
- 1:00:31I had extensions before blonde hair.
- 1:00:33Just you know, I'd be doing it all.
- 1:00:35I still get my lashes and my nails, but my hair, I'm like,
- 1:00:39OK, my hair's falling out now. So I'm just keeping it natural
- 1:00:43and honestly I I am loving my dark hair right now.
- 1:00:46Yeah, I want to go back to dark hair too as well, but the same
- 1:00:48time I cannot because if I think about my dark hair, I'm like
- 1:00:51fuck my dog City days. I was like.
- 1:00:54I feel like my blonde is like party days, whatever, so dark
- 1:00:58hair makes me feel like I'm a little bit more professional
- 1:01:01and, you know, I need to act my age a little bit.
- 1:01:04I've been I've been thinking about going.
- 1:01:05Back now, I might get some highlights or something.
- 1:01:07Yeah, I like you and colour hair.
- 1:01:09Yeah. Oh, I've been thinking about
- 1:01:10doing black hair too for the same reason.
- 1:01:11Just to be like no. Healthier.
- 1:01:14Thank you. But like, yeah.
- 1:01:17My hair's just going out, so that's why I'm like, OK, I need
- 1:01:19to. I am blessed having I haven't
- 1:01:22had any, my hair fucking falling out.
- 1:01:25I am black. It's thin and I just.
- 1:01:28I just have post harm depression that's.
- 1:01:29Got to get on the prenatals. Quick question from the guy here
- 1:01:33that. Guy does.
- 1:01:36This. Does this count?
- 1:01:37Is this blonde? That's like platinum.
- 1:01:40It's like. Platinum.
- 1:01:41Blonde or silver? Yeah, so.
- 1:01:43Very beautiful. I don't know.
- 1:01:44It's not like that. It's like more balayage that I
- 1:01:47yeah, that's not something. That's not ABG, no.
- 1:01:50Because. I wouldn't consider that ABG.
- 1:01:52That looks like a white ABG. Blonde is like this.
- 1:01:54Yeah, it's the balayage. It's.
- 1:01:56The balayage. Yeah.
- 1:01:57OK, yeah, I don't know. Who is this?
- 1:02:00Person that we're talking about again, balayage.
- 1:02:02Oh, what's balayage? It's what Emily has.
- 1:02:04It's kind of like an awesome like it blends in like.
- 1:02:06A hair product. Not a hair product, but good
- 1:02:11try. I love, I love the man
- 1:02:13explaining this because it's not actually.
- 1:02:15I've heard I've heard the term Belliage or whatever because I
- 1:02:20go to a cosmetologist for my hair.
- 1:02:22Oh yeah. What's left of it anyways?
- 1:02:28Let's talk about our Lao culture.
- 1:02:30Yes. Stories.
- 1:02:32Food. If there's food, there's Marina.
- 1:02:35If there's seafood, there's Marina.
- 1:02:38No, seriously. If everything.
- 1:02:40If you invite me to something, there better be fucking.
- 1:02:42Food, if there's seafood, you see, that's even better, yeah.
- 1:02:46If there's a seafood boil, invite me.
- 1:02:48Invite me to the seafood boils, please.
- 1:02:50I'm. I'll show up.
- 1:02:51Yeah. Anytime that Dusty tells you
- 1:02:52notice stuff, hit me up. I'll go.
- 1:02:55I'll go. Fuck Dusty, she'll go.
- 1:03:00You say no to a lot of stuff and then and then like that's food.
- 1:03:04I think it's this one. Oh yeah, go for.
- 1:03:06It do you want? No one is ever that busy.
- 1:03:09I feel like I'm the busiest person but I make time for
- 1:03:12things that like are important to me or friends and stuff.
- 1:03:15I'm a new mom so I'm still. Emily on the other I OK, Emily's
- 1:03:20a different story. Are we getting into this?
- 1:03:24I got, I feel like, I feel like I'm the type, you know, if you
- 1:03:27invite me, I'm gonna make it. But Emily's the type, like, oh,
- 1:03:29she doesn't have to make it. Like we know she might.
- 1:03:32She's gonna ignore you for a few months and then she'll pop up
- 1:03:35out of nowhere and be like, oh, yeah, I'm doing this today.
- 1:03:37Like, bitch, I texted you a week ago.
- 1:03:39Like why are you telling me now? I thought you were dead.
- 1:03:43I'm just so busy. I've like literally like I said.
- 1:03:47No one's that. No one's that busy.
- 1:03:49Bitch that busy to be. Honest, I had to fucking to get
- 1:03:52Emily on this podcast. I fucking called her on
- 1:03:56Instagram. I fucking video called her on
- 1:04:00there. I I was like I was.
- 1:04:02Getting so fucking tired of this.
- 1:04:03I was feeding Everly and I and I says call from Fanny on
- 1:04:06Instagram. I said oh shit.
- 1:04:07And he called this bitch back. Yeah.
- 1:04:09I'm like texting her family and I'm like did this bitch fucking
- 1:04:11change her number? Like why is she not answering?
- 1:04:14Is she mad? Not even.
- 1:04:17She's just out there in life. I know she had her location off
- 1:04:20for her like I don't know a couple months and I was like I
- 1:04:24had to see her in person and confront her like bitch why your
- 1:04:27location off? I know you all at home, but why
- 1:04:30is it off? I was about to just stop by at
- 1:04:32the house. I was about to call your mom.
- 1:04:34I was about to call your mom. You.
- 1:04:35Know what up? I know updates from Emily
- 1:04:37because of her mom because her mom post is on Facebook.
- 1:04:39Yes, yeah, same, same. Hey, she got a granddaughter, so
- 1:04:42of course she's gonna. Yes, yes, same.
- 1:04:45That's how I know about stuff from you, yeah.
- 1:04:47But anyways, our Lao culture. The temple is like the most
- 1:04:53important thing, I guess, like for last New Year's, a lot of
- 1:04:56vendors come out and I don't know, it's fun, you know,
- 1:05:00there's so much food and everyone's just drinking, having
- 1:05:03a good time. Like if you haven't experienced
- 1:05:05it, I think you have. Right, I haven't yet, and he
- 1:05:07doesn't want to take me to the temple.
- 1:05:09Oh, you can go on your own. Yeah, yeah, you can go with
- 1:05:11Dusty. Yeah, Dusty hasn't taken me to
- 1:05:13the temple. Don hasn't.
- 1:05:15Taken I feel like I. Feel like every time I'm going
- 1:05:17to the temple like you're out of town.
- 1:05:19OK, that's fair. So that's fair.
- 1:05:21I am out of town quite a bit. Well, actually there is
- 1:05:24something coming up. I think it's Labor Day weekend.
- 1:05:27Yeah, so. It's a three day event.
- 1:05:29Yeah, I'm here. Let's go.
- 1:05:31There's a three day event and they'll be vendors and stuff
- 1:05:35too. It won't be as big as the last
- 1:05:37New Year's, but there's that, yeah.
- 1:05:39Yeah. Because New Year's is in May,
- 1:05:41right? Yeah.
- 1:05:42Technically it's April, but they just wait till Memorial Day
- 1:05:45weekend for. Every, every, everybody takes.
- 1:05:47Every state. Every state.
- 1:05:49Has their own big so everybody can make it to every state
- 1:05:52because a lot there's there's people out there that goes to
- 1:05:54different type of States and go on all of them.
- 1:05:57So like Wichita is on the maps of it too as well.
- 1:06:00So that's what's great about it for Wichita.
- 1:06:02Wichita a lot of our Buddhist religion is coming up hot really
- 1:06:09high right now at the Laotian community.
- 1:06:13So that's pretty good also what else can I think of?
- 1:06:19I don't know, like, you know how like people say that I.
- 1:06:22Just got drugs. You know how a lot of people,
- 1:06:27like people say that our food is just very like stinky or.
- 1:06:32I mean the the racists say that I yeah.
- 1:06:34I love y'all but but I mean like.
- 1:06:36The way we make it, the ingredients that are in it.
- 1:06:38Are obviously yeah, our our foods are.
- 1:06:40Like Menudos stinks. Yeah, but our food is like.
- 1:06:43It's how do I it's so fucking good though.
- 1:06:45Yeah it is. We just that MSG.
- 1:06:47We just, we just like that sourness.
- 1:06:50That's what we like. Yeah, there is a lot of sour a.
- 1:06:52Lot of sourness, that's what we. Like and spicy.
- 1:06:54Yes, I think that's why I love Lao food because like you guys
- 1:06:58also like spicy and like, I mean, not all the Asians like
- 1:07:02spicy. I mean, well, like that's,
- 1:07:05that's really broad, but like, Koreans don't do spicy.
- 1:07:08Spicy dude. Yeah, everything is spiced for
- 1:07:11them. Their tabuki is spiced, Yeah,
- 1:07:13but it's like low. It's a very low.
- 1:07:16How you want it. Yeah, like their.
- 1:07:18Rommies have like your spice level star tie that's.
- 1:07:22What I'm trying to our friend, she puts like fucking 24 Peppers
- 1:07:25in her thumb home. Oh shit, wow.
- 1:07:27And every time she's like, hey, this is, she always tells me,
- 1:07:30hey, there's like 24 Peppers in here.
- 1:07:32And I'm like Spice I. Well, now you do.
- 1:07:34Now you do. I can't tolerate it, but now I
- 1:07:36can. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:07:37But but I was like, oh shit, you want me to die?
- 1:07:40She's like, but I made you this son.
- 1:07:42I was like, OK, that's fine. But actually, you know, like for
- 1:07:45Latinos, Mexico is the only country that actually does spice
- 1:07:49a lot of the other countries like.
- 1:07:51Don't they have Mexican? Cuz I'm like, oh, I like spicy
- 1:07:53and you know, just salty, not salty.
- 1:07:56Like, I think Tower, Yeah. Like, I think, I think also a
- 1:07:59lot of our dishes are sweet and spicy, Yeah.
- 1:08:03Where you guys are more savoury, a little more sour and spicy.
- 1:08:07Yep, yeah. Exactly, Yeah.
- 1:08:10Is that why you think we like put sugar in some of our stuff
- 1:08:14to like, kind of calm that down? Yeah, that's why you know how
- 1:08:17they say Vietnamese people, they don't put sugar in their food,
- 1:08:19but Asian people allow people to put sugar in their food.
- 1:08:22Oh, I didn't know that. Are you a sugar person?
- 1:08:24No, I. Don't.
- 1:08:25I'm not. I'm not a sugar person either.
- 1:08:26I don't know my sour and spicy. Stuff I've had has been
- 1:08:31Vietnamese. I don't think I've had stuff
- 1:08:33from your from your fam. All you have to put is hoisin
- 1:08:37sauce and sriracha and like Laosfa you put in like
- 1:08:40everything like the fried garlic, the chili oil that like
- 1:08:4310 different ingredients. Have you had slices of tomato in
- 1:08:47your food? Oh yeah, Tomato, onions,
- 1:08:51carrots. Yeah, sometimes.
- 1:08:53Put chicken feet in there if you want.
- 1:08:55Not chicken feet, but chicken feet is.
- 1:08:58I'm not a big fan of chicken feet or tomato and.
- 1:09:01Not in foot in. We know she'd be talking out of
- 1:09:05her ass. OK, we cannot believe her and
- 1:09:09half the time she's so confident and.
- 1:09:11Like she'll be telling you something and that's cool.
- 1:09:14And I'll be like, do you believe her?
- 1:09:16Do you believe her? One time?
- 1:09:19She told. Me, we fuck with each other
- 1:09:20because I'm the same way. Yeah, sorry, What happened?
- 1:09:23What'd she say? She was like, I'm going to move
- 1:09:26to Texas and get married and do all these things and blah, blah,
- 1:09:29blah and go to the courthouse and I'm like, oh, OK, yeah, good
- 1:09:33for you. And then our all our friends are
- 1:09:35like, do you believe her? And then 10 minutes later she's
- 1:09:38like, bitch, you think? You think I'm really going to do
- 1:09:41that? You know, fucking leave to Texas
- 1:09:43and get married like that bro. I was just trying to be happy
- 1:09:46for my friend, but damn. That sounds like a can't
- 1:09:50believe. Her there's also the thing
- 1:09:57there's on this list. This is ABG starter pack so.
- 1:10:02What's in it? What's ABG?
- 1:10:04OK. Name.
- 1:10:05I think like name brand stuff like.
- 1:10:07Louis Vuitton. Stuff so fucking you.
- 1:10:10So am my God with their Fanny pack your big ass.
- 1:10:17I am the. I am boujet.
- 1:10:20I am Boujet. I know.
- 1:10:22Ever since you'd be spending. You know, Alex would be like
- 1:10:25he's be like, fuck, babe, do you really need this like Louis
- 1:10:28Vuitton bag cost fucking $1000 and we could put this toward the
- 1:10:30house and we get to make a bathroom with this money.
- 1:10:33I was like but but Louis Vuitton never lose value so I can always
- 1:10:38resell it. Have you ever actually resold?
- 1:10:41I have you have. Wow.
- 1:10:43I got my money, I have a lot of purses that I don't even use
- 1:10:45anymore. Hey.
- 1:10:46Yo, you remember that, Louis? OK, so there's that.
- 1:10:50I don't know who got it for me, but it was for.
- 1:10:51Mom. My mom always be giving me her
- 1:10:55hand me down stuff, but normally it's real but because you know.
- 1:10:59I think fun fan will understand this because you know how like
- 1:11:02back in in third world countries, yeah, they sell
- 1:11:05bougie. Yeah, yeah, the fake ones.
- 1:11:06Yeah, the fake ones. So I was wearing it in.
- 1:11:08My hat right now. Oh.
- 1:11:11You know what? It's fine.
- 1:11:12Yeah, wear it. Yeah, own it.
- 1:11:14But so the bag that I had, it squeaked.
- 1:11:18Like a bird. Like I'd just be wearing it
- 1:11:20walking around. And I'm like, and I'm like,
- 1:11:23Marina, your, your purse is kind of talking, right?
- 1:11:26He's like. Bunny talks, Bunny talks I.
- 1:11:33Was like nobody got to know, OK. Nobody knows.
- 1:11:35Nobody know. Well, now they know.
- 1:11:38That was like 10 years ago, OK. OK, OK.
- 1:11:40What else is in is in the starter pack.
- 1:11:42So we got name brands, we got. Blonde hair.
- 1:11:45Blonde hair. I don't know if I can consider
- 1:11:49myself an ABG girl. I don't know why you're saying I
- 1:11:52am. I feel like I'm more just.
- 1:11:54I never said you're ABG, it's them.
- 1:11:57Yeah, that's true. Which?
- 1:11:59Is a typical Asian girl OK? I don't know, but I mean, it's
- 1:12:02only right now because you don't have blonde hair.
- 1:12:04Maybe that's the only reason you're not right now.
- 1:12:06That's true. What what?
- 1:12:09What's the thing culture plays? What is that?
- 1:12:13So I like even like, just like dating outside your culture and
- 1:12:18how like that can I feel like, you know, Yeah, it, it can be.
- 1:12:23There's a lot of things to explain sometimes.
- 1:12:25Yeah, I got a wide ass baby. You do, you do.
- 1:12:28Yeah. You went and settled in with
- 1:12:30outside your culture. I guess before.
- 1:12:35Trey's the only one mixed one. Yeah.
- 1:12:37But in our small town, like there's so many louse people
- 1:12:40there that everyone is, knows our culture.
- 1:12:44You know, they love our food. They just are around us all the
- 1:12:46time. They know how we are.
- 1:12:48So I think now, like if I were to date someone that was, I
- 1:12:50don't know, just, you know, a different race for me, it would
- 1:12:54be hard to explain because I do like going to the temple and
- 1:12:57doing the traditional stuff. So I don't know.
- 1:13:00Yeah. I wouldn't be hard.
- 1:13:02I wouldn't. I don't have a problem with
- 1:13:04dating outside my culture. Yeah, you know, as long as the
- 1:13:07person I'm dating also has done the work to know whether or not
- 1:13:11they want to date outside their culture.
- 1:13:13Because some people I think like will be like, because it's such
- 1:13:17a like, trendy thing. I want to be with a lovely.
- 1:13:21That's not in my culture, actually.
- 1:13:22Yeah, I I love being able to share my stuff.
- 1:13:25I want and I want somebody to be able to share theirs with me
- 1:13:28like that. I love.
- 1:13:29And then being open to learning more about you.
- 1:13:31Yeah, I love that. Yeah.
- 1:13:33So like I'm. But there are things that I
- 1:13:35think can be a little hard, hard sometimes, like even just like
- 1:13:39how Latinos love and how like, yeah, how like we're very like,
- 1:13:45we're hopeless romantics, like raised on the novellas.
- 1:13:48So like, we're just hopeless romantics and like we're we
- 1:13:52probably. Easily, I learned that never
- 1:13:54everything is not like a novella.
- 1:13:56Yeah, and and it's like so hard because you're just like, OK,
- 1:13:59wait, no, that was toxic. Yeah, so I feel like we should.
- 1:14:06Into lightning. Room.
- 1:14:07Yes. Lighting round.
- 1:14:08It's time for Lightning Round. OK, so this is the fun part
- 1:14:13where we're just going to ask you a bunch of questions.
- 1:14:16We can go back and forth if you want to start or I can start,
- 1:14:19you can start. OK, And then you're just going
- 1:14:22to name things that first come to mind.
- 1:14:26So browser lashes, if you could do one for one forever, which
- 1:14:30one? I say lashes.
- 1:14:31Lashes. Lashes.
- 1:14:33Yeah, lashes. OK, you'd give up the brows.
- 1:14:36Actually, fuck, I don't know. Because like, I feel like if
- 1:14:40your browser fucked up and your friends didn't tell you, that's
- 1:14:42messed up. I said.
- 1:14:43I mean, like for myself. Your eyebrows.
- 1:14:45You mean like for myself or for my clients?
- 1:14:47For you, bitch. Oh, for me, yeah.
- 1:14:50Lashes. Lashes.
- 1:14:51Yeah, because I look like a naked mole rat without lashes.
- 1:14:54I'm like, no, that's the one. Thing a damn cancer patient if I
- 1:14:58don't have to. I tried like, no, no, no, no.
- 1:15:01I tried to give it up for a little bit like a couple months,
- 1:15:04like I'm like, I'm be home with the baby.
- 1:15:06Yeah, I need it. It helped.
- 1:15:08It just it really builds up your confidence.
- 1:15:10Exactly. You can just go out and you
- 1:15:12know, look presentable without having makeup or anything like
- 1:15:15browse too, but no lashes. I have to have my lashes.
- 1:15:18If it wasn't for my anxiety I'd do lashes but I can't do it.
- 1:15:21Maybe this time I'll be different.
- 1:15:23Best. Beauty.
- 1:15:23I'm medicated. Marina OK best beauty hack you
- 1:15:27swear by but clients never listen to wash your lashes.
- 1:15:34Am I right or am I wrong? I'm like my clients are actually
- 1:15:37really good about taking care of their lashes.
- 1:15:39Like they don't come with like them crusty.
- 1:15:40Because they're fucking expensive bro who the fuck
- 1:15:43wants? To Yeah, When one falls out,
- 1:15:45you're like, Oh my God, that's like a dollar, no.
- 1:15:48For rent I. See.
- 1:15:49I see it fall. Out, though it's normal for it
- 1:15:50to come. Off I see one fall off and I'm
- 1:15:52like I'm like oh shit as fuck. That means I had to feel pretty
- 1:15:55soon. But yeah, I think.
- 1:16:02It is lightning round big. Damn.
- 1:16:03Think about it. Damn.
- 1:16:04I can't think I'm OK. OK, I'm gonna just I'm gonna
- 1:16:09just stick with that one. The cleaning, the lashes.
- 1:16:11OK, one. Product every girl should.
- 1:16:13Own one product every girl should own pre cleanse with
- 1:16:19Dermalogica. It melts your makeup and like
- 1:16:23cleanses your skin really good and just takes out all the
- 1:16:26impurities. I like those.
- 1:16:29Just smell top of your makeup. I've switched to those two.
- 1:16:32Craziest thing a client has said in your chair?
- 1:16:36How? Fuck.
- 1:16:39Craziest thing. Damn, I can't think fast.
- 1:16:42OK, we'll come back to that. OK, your go to a karaoke song,
- 1:16:46Bleeding Love. I knew it that way.
- 1:16:49Bleeding Love. Leon Lewis.
- 1:16:52Erica, answer this one. Heels or sneakers?
- 1:16:55Sneakers. Most ABG thing you've ever done?
- 1:17:01Fuck, I don't know. Yeah.
- 1:17:07I really don't know. One thing people, I don't think
- 1:17:10we talk about this ABG. Thing, yeah, you can see.
- 1:17:12What's your favorite Lao? Food that or fun through.
- 1:17:15This. Yeah, chill bro.
- 1:17:17Let her think, Let her think. I know I need time to think.
- 1:17:21She's good at. She's good at pressure.
- 1:17:23I am gonna have pressure, but maybe without the shots, yeah.
- 1:17:28If you can swap lives with Emily for one week, what would you do
- 1:17:31first? Oh God, her realtor said.
- 1:17:34I would want to learn more about that.
- 1:17:36Like, yeah. Who do you like more, Emily or
- 1:17:39Dusty? I'm sorry, Ms. I mean, you know
- 1:17:44Ms. Low, she love my vibe. Like we both love crazy.
- 1:17:47OK, yeah, Dusty's too chill. Yeah, what's what's harder?
- 1:17:51Toddler tantrum or you're a drunk bestie.
- 1:17:55Like having a meltdown. Toddler tantrum.
- 1:17:58Yeah, yeah, Babysitting drunk people is hard too, though.
- 1:18:01Oh God, we got stories with that when that one time ends.
- 1:18:04OK, wait, wait. OK, we.
- 1:18:05Don't we don't hear it. I wanna hear it.
- 1:18:08No, we don't either. You.
- 1:18:09Can't say it. Wildest roommate story in one
- 1:18:14sentence. As I say, our experience with
- 1:18:19the with the spirits. That's the biggest red flag when
- 1:18:23dating. Lord.
- 1:18:28I have to say, it's the lying. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:18:32When they're when they say one thing and then they.
- 1:18:34Just yeah, they try to be something, but then they're.
- 1:18:37Really not. Person.
- 1:18:39It died. It's not recording right?
- 1:18:44What was that other question, The one that we have to?
- 1:18:48Go back to the client. Thing was the craziest in your
- 1:18:53client. Sit in the chair, damn.
- 1:18:56I feel like I have so many stories to those.
- 1:18:57I'm like trying to think. Or what's what, the most
- 1:19:00memorable one, I guess the one that sticks with you or your
- 1:19:04biggest fail. That one, you know, that you're
- 1:19:07like, Oh yeah, yeah. Did it stop?
- 1:19:14Out of memory I. Wonder when it.
- 1:19:19Stopped. Oh shit, yeah I don't know, I
- 1:19:20just noticed it. It was good though.
- 1:19:22If Trey could only inherit one thing of your traits, looks,
- 1:19:26humor, a hustle, which one you pick?
- 1:19:30Me, I mean, probably my hustle, but I feel like he already has
- 1:19:32that. Yeah, I don't really have much
- 1:19:35of humor, but you know, the hustle is where it's at.
- 1:19:38Yeah, yeah. I mean, I'm funny, but I'm I
- 1:19:42have dry humor. Yeah, it is her dry humor.
- 1:19:45It's I mean like if you no more. If you give me, yeah.
- 1:19:48If you don't, you might be intimidated a little bit.
