- 0:28Good morning from the chicken coop.
- 0:30So today we're talking about small decisions.
- 0:34You know, oftentimes we think we need to make grandiose big
- 0:38changes in order to have things work out differently and
- 0:41honestly sometimes the smallest ones are the the things that
- 0:45make the biggest most impactful shifts quickly because you can
- 0:49stack them quickly and you can get shifts to happen quickly.
- 0:54So I'll give you a for instance. One would think that you could
- 0:57not lose a lot of weight just walking simply just Can.
- 1:00Well I can hear I can tell you myself personal experience that
- 1:04I lost 40 pounds, just walking. Now here's the trick to this
- 1:09thing. I just didn't even notice that
- 1:12it was on me because I'm just tall and it just kind of went
- 1:14everywhere. I kind of felt like a sausage at
- 1:17one point and when I weighed myself I was like, oh my God and
- 1:21it had to come off but the thing is I just don't like going to
- 1:25Jim's. I just really don't like going
- 1:27to the gym and I also think that that's not You know ideal for me
- 1:32in the sense that you go in, you work out and then you come back
- 1:35and what you sit all day, it just didn't work.
- 1:37So for me, it began just with moving taking steps, moving,
- 1:42moving, moving and really tracking my steps.
- 1:45And I've said this before in the podcast tracking, the steps is a
- 1:47huge thing. I'm a mad tracker but small
- 1:51thing like walking I literally walked my ass off and people
- 1:57always go know that it can't be just that no it was really just
- 2:00that. Did I shift my diet at all?
- 2:04Hmm, probably a little bit here. And there I really ditched
- 2:07alcohol for a while, but other than that, it was not something
- 2:12that I did Big shifts with I and I really want to stress this
- 2:17about the small shifts. Because this is one of those
- 2:19things where when you just do it tiny, especially at this time of
- 2:24the year, you can again, feel like you've got to win and those
- 2:27tiny little shifts add up so well.
- 2:30We're looking at something to start with whatever you're
- 2:33trying to work on. Even if you do it for five
- 2:36minutes a day, let's say, you focus on.
- 2:38You want to add reading in. Okay, so you're just adding
- 2:41reading and just read for five minutes just for five minutes if
- 2:44you. And if you can't pull off five
- 2:46minutes for yourself, we have bigger problems.
- 2:48So we really need to work on figuring out what those are, but
- 2:51the reality is doing little tiny things and allowing them to
- 2:57affect you really works. So it's really funny.
- 3:00How sometimes these things show up and you don't even realize
- 3:03it. So I was telling my husband
- 3:05about how one of my clients was using Duolingo and then he's
- 3:08like, well what is it? And so I tell him it's an easy
- 3:11way, it's an app you can start to do it.
- 3:13So he got it and he's been doing it every single day and I'm like
- 3:17how long you doing? And he's like 15 minutes and I'm
- 3:19like, do you feel like it's working as a yeah, it's really
- 3:21cool and he's 15 minutes and in just a short period of time,
- 3:27these little things start to happen.
- 3:29So this time of year, people often think of gargantuan
- 3:33things, instead of small little tiny quick things.
- 3:37So I want you to think about doing the things that you think
- 3:41are insignificant just do them. Anyway, just do them anyway
- 3:44because it makes a massive difference.
- 3:46So pick two or three things that, you know, you really want
- 3:50to do. Like I have a client right now
- 3:52who's colouring with. She's got some beautiful pencils
- 3:57that she ordered and she's starting to sketch and she's
- 3:59starting to Color in one of those adult coloring books
- 4:04flowers. And, you know, a simple thing as
- 4:08a stress reliever during the day, I've got somebody else,
- 4:11who's like, okay, I'm going to cook one different recipe a
- 4:14week. Okay, there you go.
- 4:17That is going to be epic by the end of the year.
- 4:19She'll have made fifty two different meals.
- 4:21Have tried all kinds of different spices because that
- 4:24was the part, you know, the part that she really wanted to do was
- 4:27become better at cooking. I can obviously relate to that.
- 4:30Since I'm not a good cook and it's just considering taking
- 4:35into account that those small little tiny things will add up
- 4:40will affect, you will be positive, and we'll go in the
- 4:43right direction. So, work on that piece, be kind
- 4:48to yourself about it. Don't just focus on gargantuan
- 4:51things. I'm not saying, give those up.
- 4:53I'm just saying to in order to feel good because you've got to
- 4:57stay in that framework of feeling good about this process.
- 5:00And Tearing yourself down and maybe maybe one of the things is
- 5:04you have to just get back to like relaxing a little bit.
- 5:07Maybe you're so frenetic all the time you just need to relax.
- 5:10You're going to say, hey you know what, once a week.
- 5:13I'm watching a movie. Okay, that's great.
- 5:15That is excellent. Maybe it's okay.
- 5:18I'm going to meditate don't try to meditate for a half an hour.
- 5:21Try to meditate for 5 minutes, meditation is hard.
- 5:25It is hard, hard work and it is not easy to Quiet.
- 5:29Ones mind. So start small, forgive yourself
- 5:34for failing and do it again and do it again and do small small,
- 5:37small and stack up. All right, my friends.
- 5:40I will see you tomorrow. Bye.
- 5:30So start small, forgive yourself for failing and do it again and
- 5:35do it again and do small small, small and stack up.
- 5:39All right, my friends. I will see you tomorrow.
- 5:41Bye.
