- 0:00Ladies and gentlemen, welcome to the Three O Take, where we talk
- 0:04all things Major League Baseball.
- 0:06Here's Kyle Corwin and Nate Reyes.
- 0:10It all starts right now. Welcome back to the three O take
- 0:16presented by Chinook Cedary this episode 558.
- 0:19I'll be yours, Kyle Korne. I'm here with my Co host Nate
- 0:22Reyes. Nate.
- 0:25Casey, how are we? This is a true welcome back.
- 0:28Well, hiatus. It's good to be back.
- 0:32How many hiatus? A week at North Myrtle, you have
- 0:37to specify because we don't. When we go down there, we don't.
- 0:41We don't. We're not mingling with the
- 0:42Myrtle folks. It's 2 two different.
- 0:45There's, there's stigma to this. Oh yeah.
- 0:48You heard, you heard a dirty Myrtle.
- 0:50Yeah, we're we're North Myrtle. Little nicer.
- 0:53Little little cleaner, better options for food things here,
- 0:58here and there. We, we it's.
- 0:59Just like a Scottsdale versus Phoenix argument.
- 1:02Yeah, I, I would venture to say so you, I mean you would know
- 1:05that better than I would, but I we're probably along the same
- 1:08lines there, but. Like a like a Manhattan versus
- 1:12the Bronx. Yeah, that's exactly what we're,
- 1:16that's exactly what we're working with here.
- 1:18But good to be back week there was able to we're talking about
- 1:21before we hopped on here ran the cookout gauntlet, which isn't a
- 1:25thing like we made it a thing me and my in laws like.
- 1:28A little gauntlet. I because you asked me what it
- 1:33was, I said, well, I'll tell you on the pod.
- 1:35Basically when we started taking this trip like 6 years ago,
- 1:402020, whenever COVID, whenever COVID first hit, it's.
- 1:43Insane to say out loud. We, we started, we started going
- 1:48to cookout like a few nights out of the week that we were there
- 1:51like, hey, because we all love cookout, love, love the shakes.
- 1:53And we're like, you know, we're already going to cookout like
- 1:582-3, maybe even 4 times during the speech week.
- 2:02Like how crazy would it be if we got a cookout shake every night
- 2:05of the week that we're here? And it's kind of just been this
- 2:08running joke. Never been like a realistic
- 2:11thing that we really try to pursue.
- 2:13But this year we got 3-4 days into it and we're like work, we
- 2:19could do this. And as the week go, it's, it's
- 2:22not for the faint of heart. Like people start, people start
- 2:25dropping out. And it came down to it was me,
- 2:28my sister-in-law and brother-in-law, the three of us
- 2:32completed the cookout gauntlet 7 shakes in seven days.
- 2:37It was, it was one of the biggest accomplishments in my
- 2:39life. That's one of the biggest
- 2:41accomplishments in my life. Good for you.
- 2:45Thank you. So I'm I'm swearing off sugar
- 2:47for the next probably couple weeks to balance things out.
- 2:52Did you switch them up or did you keep doing the same ones?
- 2:55Switch them up. Yeah, they got a whole, they got
- 2:57like 40 plus flavours, so a lot to work with there.
- 2:59You can combine flavours. So it was it.
- 3:02We had a good time. Good for you.
- 3:05Look no disrespect but being there a week you don't look that
- 3:09much more tan. I think tan.
- 3:12Well, if I was, if I was rocking like a fresh white tea, maybe,
- 3:17but I personally feel like I'm glowing.
- 3:20So to me, that's all that really matters.
- 3:22You may you may not agree, but I, I, I feel like I have a nice
- 3:27a nice healthy glow. So I'm I'm feeling great heading
- 3:30into this new. Week Are you a are you a peel
- 3:32kind of guy? The peeling going on.
- 3:37More than I'd like to admit at times, but we'll see how this
- 3:40week goes. Sure, sure.
- 3:43Good stuff. Welcome back.
- 3:46Glad to be back. Glad to be back talking some
- 3:48ball. We got some things to get into.
- 3:50Not as much. Maybe a little bit of a lighter
- 3:52week. I think you brought up the point
- 3:53before we hopped on. We're I mean, we're these are
- 3:56the dog days. Folks like the you hear, you
- 3:58hear about them, we're living them.
- 4:01But still some things to get to right off the top.
- 4:08I want to talk about this home run race that we're we're now in
- 4:11the midst of because as I said to you, I think Kyle Schwarber
- 4:18just seemingly out of nowhere inserting himself into the mix.
- 4:25Dude's been on a heater as of late.
- 4:27Admittedly, I was, I was a little checked out this past
- 4:30week because you know, I'm, you know, I'm trying to fight waves
- 4:33and trying to make sure I'm properly applying sunscreen and
- 4:37everything. So I'm not, I'm not on, I'm not
- 4:39on my PS and QS. I hate my team so I'm not on my
- 4:43PS and QS either. I kind of hate baseball right
- 4:46now personally, but I don't know if anyone else is feeling that
- 4:51this this the sport is pissing me off.
- 4:54Yeah, it happens, man. You're you're in you're in real
- 4:57life team, your fantasy teams cooked it's.
- 5:01I'm really looking forward to fantasy football.
- 5:05It's I'm I'm. With you, that meme that you
- 5:09posted, I'm which one? Which one was I am I?
- 5:14Am I? Paul, you got Paul Walker and
- 5:16and Vin Diesel, you know the classic Fast and Furious meme.
- 5:20You got them, you got them hitting a fork in the road.
- 5:22They're going to separate ways. And I said the meme was like,
- 5:25hey, you've got your you've got your fans that like baseball,
- 5:28but then you've also got your fans that like baseball, who
- 5:31also like football. And you've hit that for, you
- 5:34know, now that we're getting pre season underway in the NFL,
- 5:36we're hitting that fork in the road where, you know, look, no
- 5:40district, it's OK. We're going to have to just tip
- 5:42our collective, our caps to one another and be like, well, I
- 5:46guess we'll see if we'll link back up in March.
- 5:48Because there's no, there's no convincing the, the, the die
- 5:52hard football fans who also love who also like really enjoy
- 5:55baseball. There's no convincing them that
- 5:57like, Hey, you should stick around.
- 5:59Even though I, I've never understood the argument why the
- 6:03football people that also like baseball decide to split off
- 6:07when they do, It's like just ride out the like this.
- 6:10We're we're, we're coming up on the best part of the baseball
- 6:14season. I'm fully The older I get, the
- 6:18more I'm fully, fully, truly convinced that fall is the
- 6:22greatest time of year, the best. It's not even close.
- 6:28It's really not even close. The fact that we've been
- 6:31bamboozled into thinking that summer is the best.
- 6:35It's just. Wrong.
- 6:36Yeah, we we talked about that at the beach, like outside of the
- 6:39beach, like it's just otherwise it's hot and miserable and
- 6:42sweaty like the fall is. I mean, especially can't.
- 6:45Wear half your closet. Exactly.
- 6:49I'm a little, I'm a little chunky.
- 6:51I'd like to wear my, my thicker clothing.
- 6:53You know what I mean? Like, that's what fall is built
- 6:55for. I want a bowl of chili, you
- 6:57know? But no, it's 118 and we can't do
- 7:00that right now. Is it fall is the greatest?
- 7:03Yeah, we broke our record the other day.
- 7:06Fall is the greatest because you have all of it.
- 7:10You have all of it. You got post season baseball,
- 7:13you obviously got football. You know, for basketball fans,
- 7:20it's knocking on the corner, it's knocking on the door.
- 7:21It's like man it. Doesn't make sense to me.
- 7:25Like I was saying though, like when when these these football
- 7:29fans also like baseball, when they choose to split off, it's
- 7:32like the second pre season gets here, I'm out.
- 7:35It's like no ride out the best part of the the baseball season.
- 7:39If you like both sports equally or, you know, comparably ride
- 7:43that out and then you've got football to carry you through
- 7:47the next year. Like, sure.
- 7:49And then you only have to wait a little bit until spring training
- 7:51is here. So like, I don't know the the,
- 7:53the split, the timing of the split for football fans confuses
- 7:57me sometimes. I agree you're not a lot because
- 7:59pre season football is stupid. I will say I'm not.
- 8:03I haven't really been a college football like a huge college
- 8:06football guy. I think I'm going to try to, I'm
- 8:10going to try it out a little bit more, try it out a little bit
- 8:14more this year. Yeah.
- 8:17I think I'm just going to try to dive in a little bit.
- 8:20But yeah. And it's like you're also like
- 8:24fantasy football hype for sure. You're in the, you're in the
- 8:29thick of that. It's I love fantasy baseball.
- 8:32I think fantasy football's better.
- 8:34Yeah. I mean, on the fantasy realm,
- 8:36it's just better. I mean, there's a level of in
- 8:43frequency is not the right word, but just like the the nature of
- 8:46the football season as it compares to the baseball season,
- 8:49like you can't beat that from a fantasy perspective.
- 8:51Like, yeah, you have so many matchups.
- 8:54Yeah. Meanwhile, baseball's a grind.
- 8:56It's not. It is.
- 8:57And that baseball, fantasy baseball, is not for everybody.
- 8:59It's not for the faint of heart, that's for sure.
- 9:03Back to home. Runs, Yeah, long, long way of
- 9:07saying, long winded way of saying that we are in the dog
- 9:10days. But Kyle Schwarber just in the
- 9:14midst of all of this has inserted himself into the
- 9:17conversation of home run king for the 2025 season.
- 9:23Can we just look at look at the leaderboard as it stands right
- 9:27now coming into the day? Well, Shohei, I think what was
- 9:31it last night, just just crossed over the 40 threshold for I
- 9:35believe the fourth time in his career.
- 9:41Kyle Schwarber currently sits at 41 and big dumper at 44.
- 9:49Is it just me or things kind of like the pace has drastically
- 9:53slowed down? Yeah, Well, I think that's the
- 9:55nature of the, the, the time of the year that we're at.
- 9:58I mean, even you got Aaron Judge getting dinged up a little bit.
- 10:01He's, he's falling off the, I won't say falling off the trail,
- 10:06but he's, he's trailing at 30, him and him and Gino Suarez both
- 10:11at 37. Like even him and and well, you
- 10:15can. As Carlos Parade trots, trots
- 10:18the bases at Yankee Stadium. Yeah, I'm I'm going to ramp this
- 10:22TV down and. Big time.
- 10:25This is why I'm on fantasy football now.
- 10:29I mean, you could make the argument that any of these guys
- 10:32could really get on a heater and and either close the gap or
- 10:35create a very large gap at the top.
- 10:39But I think of the four like Shohei and Judge or the two
- 10:42where I'm like, when they come, it's not just a small bunch,
- 10:46it's a big bunch that they're coming in.
- 10:48So you never know. I mean, I, I could see, you
- 10:55know, these top five guys. You're sniffing 50.
- 11:03Sure. You're a betting man.
- 11:05You were at the casino last night.
- 11:06So let me let me ask you. This but I was there.
- 11:09Well, still a betting man. I mean, you're there.
- 11:12Your presence has to count for something.
- 11:18If you had to bet today, simple question, who do you think's
- 11:22taken The Who do you think's taken the crown?
- 11:24Because I wanted to go recency bias, but I do think just
- 11:29because of like the fact that the wear and tear is so much
- 11:32less on Schwarber and that's that's the whole argument to Cal
- 11:37Raleigh is that like he's not even just like a, an average
- 11:43catcher. He's an incredible catcher and
- 11:46he catches every day. Like he just doesn't really miss
- 11:49games very often. I think that wear and tear is
- 11:52like eventually going to get to you, whereas Schwarber does get
- 11:54to DH and this is clearly the time he comes alive.
- 12:01I would go Schwarber. And that's a little recency
- 12:05bias, but it's kind of what's. What's impressive for me for
- 12:09Schwarber is the fact that he's doing this in a contract year as
- 12:12well. Like this he is having, you
- 12:16know, say, we say it all the time.
- 12:19People love to bring up the fact that he's like a 220 hitter.
- 12:25He's hitting 252 right now in addition to the 41 Homer.
- 12:31So you know, I, I, I, I think the general consensus is that
- 12:36Schwarber is going to earn himself at this stage in his
- 12:39career. He's, this is his thirty age 32
- 12:42season. He's earned himself a what, 3-4
- 12:46year contract? I don't know why they can like
- 12:49the at least my perception of him has him older than 32.
- 12:55Just been doing it for so long, I guess.
- 12:56Like the Cubs feel like a different lifetime ago.
- 13:04I feel like he's been in Philly forever.
- 13:07But yeah. He's made multiple stops.
- 13:09In Chicago. He was with the Nationals, He
- 13:11was. I know.
- 13:12Red Sox, like, it's like there's a big gap in between.
- 13:15But I'm just saying, like when you think back of him as a Cub,
- 13:17you're like, that doesn't even feel right.
- 13:21And in a weird way, I almost feel like I remember him being
- 13:23kind of old. Not like old but like I'm like.
- 13:26Kind of like a vet of that, yeah.
- 13:27Like a. It doesn't make any sense.
- 13:31I, I think a lot. I think I, I think a lot depends
- 13:41on hinges on the on the success of the Philly season.
- 13:45They look really good. You think they're going to throw
- 13:48stupid contract at them if they win if if?
- 13:50They I think if they win the World Series, you'll see you'll
- 13:56see a Strasbourg S type situation and hopefully there's
- 14:01better success on the player end of a post World Series deal.
- 14:07But just what he's brought, the crew, man, what he's done for
- 14:10this team is insane and he deserves it.
- 14:16You say it when you say Strasburg, you just mean in
- 14:19terms of the, you mean as it as it relates to like.
- 14:23A very clear overpay. Right, right.
- 14:25You're not talking in terms of money or length or anything.
- 14:28You're just saying like the nature of the deal.
- 14:30Yeah. Yeah, like a very clear overpay
- 14:34so. You know, Davey, Davey D is just
- 14:38chomping at the bit, waiting to win this whole thing so he can
- 14:41just throw away stupid. Yeah, throw out some stupid
- 14:45contracts. I'm.
- 14:46Going to plug in my I'm going to turn this outlet on.
- 14:49I'm going to Paige is going to hear about this.
- 14:52She's hit, she's hitting these switches over here and my
- 14:55charger is plugged in one of those switches that's on the on
- 14:59the light switch. Yeah.
- 15:01We're going to real, real professional operation we've got
- 15:03going on here. Real rinky dink.
- 15:05What would you expect? What would you expect?
- 15:08Hey, shout out while I'm while I'm looking at it, shout out to
- 15:11to JV Justin Verlander becoming the 10th pitcher in MLB history
- 15:16to reach 3500 strikeouts. Love that holding it down on the
- 15:23fantasy squad for the last couple starts.
- 15:26Have you? Yeah, but back to the homers,
- 15:31specifically as it as it pertains to Cal Raleigh and
- 15:34Judge. Can we revisit real quick just
- 15:37what this ALMVP race is is looking like now?
- 15:43I mean, obviously you've been paying closer attention to Judge
- 15:47even with the the stint on the shelf.
- 15:53Has the conversation really changed at all, or is Judge
- 15:56really still the the clear? MVP Yeah.
- 16:02No, not anymore. No, I think it's, I think it's,
- 16:07I mean averages has started to get lower and lower.
- 16:12It's like in in the three 30s now, which is still insane to
- 16:15just be like, that's still incredible. 337.
- 16:22But it's just to me, it goes back to the catching thing and I
- 16:30I think like as a sport and and for the voting it, I just I
- 16:37can't help but feel like it has to be celebrated to see a
- 16:43catcher doing this and it feels like a missed opportunity.
- 16:48But who knows, man, if Judge goes on one of these runs and
- 16:54starts to close the gap home run wise and he's hitting, you know,
- 17:02340 when it's all said and done, it's like that's kind of hard to
- 17:06it's kind of hard to argue with. I don't know what about for you,
- 17:11because I mean, like I, I understand if there's some bias
- 17:15there, but like there's bias against my conversation here,
- 17:20but I have bias for so that's why we're here.
- 17:23This is why we do the podcast. I mean, he's got 30, as I
- 17:28mentioned, 37. Homer is an OPS of 1137.
- 17:34Yeah. And he's hitting 337 again.
- 17:37That's just like your elementary counting stats here.
- 17:40Like we're, we're not even getting into the the deeper
- 17:42levels of this discussion, right.
- 17:47But yeah, no, I don't know, like Cal Raleigh doing it behind the
- 17:56dish, 44 Jacks, 946 LP's, he's sitting 248.
- 18:09How? It's not like I get it right
- 18:13field compared to the position of catcher.
- 18:17I get I get the conversation there.
- 18:19There's a very clear difference in terms of the toll it takes.
- 18:22However, it's not like Judge is just DH ING all year.
- 18:26Sure. Like he's he's contributing on
- 18:28both sides of the ball, but what Judge is doing offensively is
- 18:34what Raleigh's doing behind the dish enough to.
- 18:39Yeah. I mean, it's it's kind of the
- 18:41conversation we've been having all year.
- 18:44But I think the only thing that's made it interesting, the
- 18:46only layer that has been, you know, added to this conversation
- 18:53is the fact that Judges has now missed a little bit of time.
- 18:56But he's, you know, he's back. He seems like.
- 19:00Yeah, it's, it's taking him a while to get.
- 19:02That's why I'm, I'm curious to see if like he does, I think he
- 19:06will click back in. But he's I don't even know what
- 19:10his stretch has been since he's been back.
- 19:12I think it's been pretty rough. He's like 3 for 30 something.
- 19:16Well, I'm just saying like, I'm not saying like.
- 19:19He's not out. He's.
- 19:20Mechanically, production wise back.
- 19:22I'm just saying presence wise, he's back as Otani goes yard.
- 19:28So that puts him at 41 on the on the leaderboard, tying him with
- 19:32Schwarber at at #2. There we go.
- 19:38Yeah, man, I it is weird because like it, it's almost the same
- 19:42argument for Otani. Like, have we become numb to how
- 19:47good they are, how good of a hitter Darren Judge and Otani
- 19:52are? Like because they do it so often
- 19:55is that kind of it's taking away from them, like hurting them in
- 20:02any way, you know, because that is, I think there's a little bit
- 20:07of, I'm kind of missing the word, but it's not like
- 20:12saturation to it. But like, like you kind of feel
- 20:17this is the norm and you forget how incredible they are.
- 20:24And like, we are definitely watching from each side to the
- 20:32greatest hitters ever, not just this generation, but ever.
- 20:36Yeah, that we've ever seen, but yeah.
- 20:38Yeah. Now I'm with you going back to
- 20:44your question, though, kind of putting a ball on this.
- 20:45I in terms of who I think runs away with it all right, I
- 20:51shouldn't even say run away with it, but who's ultimately crowned
- 20:55the leader of this pack when it's all said and done because
- 20:57it is it's going to be an interesting race.
- 20:58Like I said, we've got I mean, if you want to I I think you can
- 21:02safely put judge in the mix, even though he's you know, he's
- 21:06slipping behind a little bit haven't missed a little bit of
- 21:08time. Safe to say it'll take a a good
- 21:13week or two and he'll be right back into the end of the thick
- 21:16of it. But if you even if you want to
- 21:18include a guy like Gino Suarez, who's right there with judge,
- 21:23we're looking at A5 man race. What's what you said in terms of
- 21:26Regency bias? I don't want to play into that
- 21:30too much. But you did make a point about
- 21:32Schwarber. And this time of year, like
- 21:34when, as we get closer to the end of the season, I feel like
- 21:38is when Schwarber kicks in another notch like you hear all
- 21:42the time about June Schwarber. But I would be here.
- 21:47I would, I would want to see what his what his splits are as
- 21:54as we get into, as we wrap up summer, getting into early fall
- 21:59because like you said, with the wear and tear combined with what
- 22:03his splits might look like is this might be the season of
- 22:08Schwarber. Is the perception of the
- 22:10Phillies like just different for for baseball fans versus Philly
- 22:16fans? Cuz I don't know why this year
- 22:19just feels so much different than years past for the Phillies
- 22:23where it just. I, I feel like we, I feel like
- 22:31we've gone back to what we were feeling a few years ago.
- 22:33I feel like the first, and I don't know when the switch
- 22:36happened, but a seemingly overnight, the perception around
- 22:40the Phillies was like, cuz if you remember and not I'm not
- 22:43like I'm not Tooting my own horn here, but I, I was like, I'm
- 22:48going to give this team one more year.
- 22:50And then they the way that they started the season, I'm like, I
- 22:55feel a little bit justified in saying what I said.
- 22:58But then like I said, some seemingly overnight something
- 23:00switched with the Phillies and I'm like, I'm feel, I feel the
- 23:04way about the Phillies right now that I did 20/22/22 like that,
- 23:09that little stretch that they had.
- 23:12So I don't know. I don't know what that's what
- 23:14that's what that's credited to. And then they had they they make
- 23:17some additions at the deadline to bolster things the.
- 23:20Deadline was a good turning point for a lot of people too,
- 23:22but like I, we got to have the the conversation of like the
- 23:27division is a lot lighter this year than it has been in years
- 23:32past. And the Mets are three falling
- 23:35right now. I don't know, something in the
- 23:37water in New York I guess, but like there.
- 23:40Literally. Yeah, probably.
- 23:41Probably it's very specific water, good bagels, not good for
- 23:45sports. I don't know.
- 23:50And the Braves like whatever, don't even exist.
- 23:52So that's a part of the conversation too.
- 23:56Where are we? Are we going back to like a
- 23:59similar word? We're just used with the home
- 24:01run race? Like, are we fatigued of the
- 24:05Phillies success to this point just because no one's really
- 24:08challenged them at any point? And are we just like locking
- 24:16them in for the postseason and automatically considering them
- 24:19one of the best teams in baseball or the best team in
- 24:22baseball just because of that? Like, I don't know, there's like
- 24:25a fine line. I don't know if I'd say there's
- 24:27fatigue. I there.
- 24:29This is actually is an interesting conversation.
- 24:31Like who if we're, if we're ranking teams that if we're
- 24:38putting these team like all 30 teams on a fatigue scale.
- 24:42I, I don't think the Phillies are.
- 24:48I mean, are the Phillies even in the top five?
- 24:54I don't, I don't think there's a fatigue around the Phillies.
- 24:56I think, I think with the Dodgers, obviously, I think the
- 25:01Padres, you could slot the Padres in ahead of the Phillies.
- 25:04There's, I'm, I'm not saying, I'm saying specifically this
- 25:08year, like if we're looking at the 2025 Phillies, are we just
- 25:13like we don't really need to look at like the divisional race
- 25:20at the moment. Cal Raleigh just hit 45, by the
- 25:22way. We don't really need to look at
- 25:27like the the divisional race, like especially at this free
- 25:30fall that the Mets are in the rest of the divisions booty.
- 25:37When you look at the NL, like the Cubs have the same record.
- 25:42The Brewers are the best team in the NL and the best team in
- 25:45baseball at the moment. You're just like, why is it that
- 25:49we're just so easily fixated on are the Phillies going back to
- 25:53the World Series? Like especially after this
- 25:55deadline? Like I, I, I think this is the
- 25:59hardest Rd. through the NL that they're going to have when it
- 26:04comes to this post season. Well, I think it's because of
- 26:08that run that I mentioned, like you look at back at the last few
- 26:11years, you're going OK. They've they've shown you that
- 26:13they can, they, they may not have won it yet, but they,
- 26:16they've shown you that they can get there.
- 26:19They're capable of theirs, capable of getting there.
- 26:21So I it would be easy for me to see why people would just
- 26:25default to being like, OK, so the Philly, if the Phillies are
- 26:28back, then I'm just going to go ahead and slot them in as a team
- 26:31that could serve as the strongest threat or one of the
- 26:35strongest threats on the NL side of things.
- 26:40But we'll see, man we'll see. Like I said, I don't know when
- 26:42the switch with the Phillies happened.
- 26:45It would have had to have been within the last month.
- 26:49Something something really, at least for me, in my perception
- 26:52of the team, something switch. So we'll we'll see how things
- 26:55shape out for them. But Speaking of the Dodgers and
- 27:02a threat to win it all coming out of the National League,
- 27:08Clayton Kershaw over the over the weekend went up against long
- 27:13time competitor Max Scherzer, Former teammate Max Scherzer.
- 27:19I always forget that I was reading some, I don't.
- 27:23I read some articles about it and they were saying, I saw, I
- 27:25saw that attribution like, oh, former former going up against
- 27:29former teammate Max Scherzer. I was like that.
- 27:30That doesn't count. It's like.
- 27:32That's not a thing. Randy Johnson in Houston were
- 27:35just like, I don't really think about it like I don't just
- 27:39doesn't doesn't come come up on my my Wikipedia page in my
- 27:44brain. Yeah, not you know the other
- 27:47thing, but they, if you don't know the back story, very
- 27:51interesting story. They were four selected 4 picks
- 27:54apart in the 2006 draft, have both won three Cy Youngs, and
- 28:01their first match up was how many?
- 28:07Hold on, how many? Speaking of which, it was a
- 28:09Randy Johnson start day. That's funny is Randy Johnson
- 28:15and Greg Maddox start day in like.
- 28:19OO8 Both were scratched on September 7th.
- 28:23Randy Johnson and Greg Maddox both were scratched and then the
- 28:26people that were in attendance had to watch Max Scherzer and
- 28:31Clayton Kershaw. These two little young bucks go
- 28:35out. And the complaint was like,
- 28:36imagine getting tickets to this match up and this is what you
- 28:39got to see, you know? It was 6179 days after their
- 28:48first match up. They went up.
- 28:50Obviously Scherzer with the Jays, now Kershaw still with the
- 28:52Dodgers. Look, the narrative, the
- 28:59narrative around this game, Scherzer and Kershaw, it's like
- 29:03what I saw so many people have been like, nobody wants to watch
- 29:05this. They're washed.
- 29:06They're just milking it for the money.
- 29:08And I'm like you clear, Like you, just if, if you're of the
- 29:12belief that they're just hanging on for the money, like you, you,
- 29:17I'm not going to say I'm not going to be the you don't know
- 29:19ball guy. But like you're, you're clearly
- 29:21just not paying attention to or, or you haven't paid attention to
- 29:28the, the makeup of, of these guys in terms of how it like, in
- 29:32terms of the types of competitors that they are and
- 29:37like what they, what they're striving to do in their career.
- 29:41And you know, like what their, what their goals are.
- 29:47What I mean, sure, the money is nice, no doubt.
- 29:52But like, I would have to imagine that the day that that
- 29:56Max Scherzer, I mean, I won't even I won't even say Clayton
- 29:59Kershaw because he's he's had a different Rd. to get to where he
- 30:03is. But a guy like Max Scherzer to
- 30:05me, the second that he that he hangs up the spikes, how many,
- 30:11how many months, if not years is it going to take him to finally
- 30:16come to grips or come to terms with the fact that like he can't
- 30:20go out and dice people up. Like he he's going to be the
- 30:25type of guy that he's going to be probably 62, trying to
- 30:29convince his circle, the people he's hanging out with that if
- 30:34they just gave me a shot, if they just gave me a spot start,
- 30:37I could go out and do it. That's the kind of, that's the
- 30:39kind of guy we're talking about here.
- 30:41That's, I think that's some of the greatest makeup or, or the
- 30:45makeup of some of the greatest pictures we've seen.
- 30:48You know what I mean? It's like even at this age,
- 30:51you're like, you've been retired for 10-15 years and like that
- 30:54isn't gone. I could still strike you out
- 30:57right now at my age like that. CC Sabathia just got inducted
- 31:00into the Hall of Fame. He, I guarantee you, he thinks
- 31:03that he could go out and still get it done.
- 31:05Yeah, 100% Clemens, same way. It's just like it's there's
- 31:09there's guys that just like are that you can't remove that.
- 31:14I'm still going to find a way to get you out.
- 31:15I may not have what I had in the tank back in the day, but I can
- 31:18get you out. You know what I mean?
- 31:19Like there's still that that edge to him.
- 31:24And then and then I think in in a different way.
- 31:28Kershaw's had a really a really impressive year in my mind.
- 31:35Then I'm not going to sit here and dive into numbers and and
- 31:37compare it to like league leaders or even prime Kershaw
- 31:42days. But like I think you can look at
- 31:45Kershaw and say he is he's done after this year.
- 31:48He's officially leaving it all on the table and like he's, I
- 31:50think able to go out on top no matter the result of this season
- 31:57for the Dodgers. I think he's able to go out on
- 32:00top saying like I'm pretty comfortable with my performance
- 32:04this year. I was healthy.
- 32:06I made a lot of starts. What is he He's he's going to
- 32:08finish with a a decent amount of starts, won't he over 20.
- 32:12I was. Actually just going to look that
- 32:14up. Is that in play?
- 32:15It's 20 starts in play it's made 14.
- 32:21Not quite. Not quite in play, maybe.
- 32:28Oh well, we got time. Like 2 months.
- 32:32Yeah month and 1/2 yeah, I think it could happen.
- 32:40It's about right either way. So by the way, it's just like I
- 32:44it's very cool like don't take it for granted.
- 32:47I I think it's, I think what's cool about this and like, even
- 32:53if it got blown up a little bit more, especially bringing back
- 32:55like their date, like, you know, that match up back in the day
- 32:58with the debuts. And it's like I, I think we have
- 33:06a sport that's very full circle, you know, and it's like,
- 33:10appreciate those moments, appreciate the full circle
- 33:12moments. It's very cool to see.
- 33:15It's very like all of the things that have happened in our game
- 33:19since the last time that this was like the graphic that we're
- 33:25going off of. And I know there's been a bunch
- 33:27of matchups in between. Like you get to you get to see
- 33:30these cool moments of like a full legend on each side, still
- 33:37doing it, still trying their hardest.
- 33:40Then every pitcher kind of fades the in their own ways.
- 33:43It's rare, especially for that for that position to be fully
- 33:48dominant when you're all done. Just not how it works.
- 33:54I I think like how quickly people forget we're two years
- 33:58removed from Kershaw giving us 24 starts with an ERA of 246 in
- 34:05an All Star year in which he was 35 in 2023.
- 34:11I I do hope he calls it after this though.
- 34:13It just kind of feels that way. I don't want to see him struggle
- 34:17along for another one. And no disrespect, I don't think
- 34:232020 starts is necessarily like the standard that we should be
- 34:27chasing for multiple years. Sure, but.
- 34:32You got to, well, I mean, go on. But I mean, the shirt that
- 34:35you're wearing the All Star game, you got to think that the
- 34:40the nod there was maybe an was an indicator that yeah, you
- 34:45know, maybe this is kind of this is kind of it.
- 34:49Yeah, he's taking it in, man. He's doing it well and he's like
- 34:52producing. And I think that's like that's
- 34:55got to be the most satisfying part of it.
- 34:57It's like I am producing for my team.
- 35:01So Scherzer, I don't know. Scherzer it's hard to tell.
- 35:05Verlander It's hard to tell. Both of them feel like it's a
- 35:09little bit of stat chasing going on.
- 35:12Verlander said he wanted to go to what he was 45.
- 35:15Yeah, and that's, he said that a few years ago, didn't he?
- 35:22He's 42 right now. He ain't getting to 45.
- 35:26And not getting to 45. Mid 19 starts this year, 4291
- 35:33and 8. Serviceable, I guess, but like,
- 35:37what are we talking about? He's just he's he's.
- 35:43Going after the OR No, not not Verlander.
- 35:48Verlander has already got the the strikeouts.
- 35:51It's the. Wins.
- 35:54Verlander is going for wins, isn't he?
- 35:55I think he's trying to get to 300 wins.
- 35:58Oh, he's not getting 300. He's at 263.
- 36:01Yeah, well, I'm saying like that was.
- 36:04Oh, right. Yeah, like desire to get that
- 36:06was the next. I think he felt like that's how
- 36:09long it would take him, but. That was the next thing, yeah.
- 36:12A shame on any baseball team that's going to give him a shot
- 36:14that long based on what we've seen.
- 36:17Anyhow, we're off on a tangent here.
- 36:19Yeah, we're swirly. Up on tangent here.
- 36:22Dog days, man, just dog day conversations we're.
- 36:25Sucking some balls man, just talking to some ball.
- 36:29Oh shoot, did did Caroli go deep?
- 36:36Yeah, let's. You didn't hear me say that
- 36:37earlier. I did not hear you say that.
- 36:42So he's at 45 now. Yeah, Yep, Yep, Yep.
- 36:47I got the Twitter notifications back on.
- 36:51Now I'm getting all the home run buzzins.
- 36:53That's an interesting one to have, by the way, as far as
- 36:56notifications. On the MLB home runs account.
- 36:58I don't hate it. I love it, dude.
- 37:01Sometimes there's days when we're just like, man, I'm not
- 37:03looking. But then there are days where
- 37:04I'm like, it's nice to know. Keeps it tapped in a little bit.
- 37:08Well, it's, I mean, it's nice in cases like this when you're
- 37:10looking at when you're keeping tabs on like Raleigh and
- 37:12Schwarber, but when it's like Johnny Bag of potatoes has third
- 37:17home run. Of the year.
- 37:18Yeah, like what are we? I could do without this
- 37:22notification. Any who's Speaking of Johnny Bag
- 37:26of potatoes, This individual is not the bag of potatoes.
- 37:31In fact, they call them Johnny Bag of money.
- 37:34Roman Anthony signing an 8 year contract extension includes a
- 37:41$5,000,000 signing bonus, $130 million.
- 37:48I'm always intrigued by these these contract extensions when
- 37:52it when it comes time to look at the escalators, it's like what?
- 37:56What could this really Max out at?
- 37:59I think. You'd end up being pretty fat,
- 38:00couldn't it? 2. 30.
- 38:03Yeah, it's. Pretty good 2:30 for the Red Sox
- 38:06outfielder. I'm, I, you know, going back to
- 38:10the, the fantasy baseball conversation, I, I told you the
- 38:12other day, this is a guy that from, even aside from fantasy
- 38:17baseball, I'm just generally excited to, to watch this guy's
- 38:21career play out. But specifically from a fantasy
- 38:24perspective, I'm like, I'd be intrigued and locking this guy
- 38:27up and fantasy, but I'm this dude's just a ball player, man.
- 38:34Dude is a ball player. And this is going to be one of
- 38:37those contracts where I, I'm trying not to let bias play into
- 38:44it here, but I feel like this is one of those contracts that's
- 38:46going to you. You don't have to have the
- 38:48concern of like, is this going to age well?
- 38:52I feel like you can kind of just look at it and know all.
- 38:56Right. Fair enough.
- 38:57This dude, I mean, I love the timing of it.
- 39:03I think it maybe should have you.
- 39:04You probably could have even knocked this out a little
- 39:06earlier. But the fact that it came at a
- 39:08time when the Sox are just playing some ball, which real
- 39:14quick on that going back to the deadline, just revisiting that
- 39:21conversation. I, I, I'm curious as to how your
- 39:29team's acquisitions have been doing, because you did say, I
- 39:36think it was how how did we phrase it?
- 39:39I think I think we said weak ass team and and how we did nothing
- 39:46at the deadline. August, what are we talking
- 39:48about? Are are we seriously talking
- 39:51about this? I'm just saying I think the
- 39:54collapse of my team has nothing to do with your team.
- 39:57I think your team is still weak. They're.
- 39:59Trending in completely opposite directions.
- 40:02That's fine. Which is what I was saying about
- 40:05the timing of the Roman Anthony like this.
- 40:06You want to talk about vibes like this is this is something
- 40:10this was a this was a gift from above just got sprinkled in.
- 40:14Hey, you know vibes could not be higher.
- 40:17See, now I'm going to step in and play devil's advocate.
- 40:19Tremendously locked in. Tremendously locked in.
- 40:23Here you go. Here's a Roman Anthony.
- 40:25Here, here. Here's some.
- 40:26Here's here's an extension for your boy.
- 40:28OK, are so devil's advocate? Sure are.
- 40:34Are we really offering a potential of $200 million to
- 40:41somebody who doesn't even have 50 career hits in the show yet?
- 40:46Like it Are we, are we going to have that conversation?
- 40:51Yeah, I think I saw. That's crazy.
- 40:54Is it the the highest or second highest or largest contracts
- 41:00with that qualifier of like fewer than whatever?
- 41:04It's it's either the qualifier you want.
- 41:06It's either the the largest or second largest.
- 41:08I don't remember who would have who would have been the other
- 41:10individual? Hasn't even had 200 babies in
- 41:15the show. It's crazy.
- 41:17It's like that is insane. So I get what you're saying.
- 41:21Like I, I think you can see it with certain players and I'm not
- 41:24saying he's is that player or isn't that player.
- 41:28I'm just saying like the standard being set of like
- 41:30buying out arbitration this quickly is pretty wild.
- 41:36It's pretty wild. What are you saying is the the
- 41:39negative here? Like what are you saying there's
- 41:41a a risk by doing this? Or are you saying this is a,
- 41:45this is a backfire on him? I think you could go either way
- 41:50because there was a lot of the argument saying like, what are
- 41:52you doing? You know, we've seen the
- 41:54examples of a Ronald Acuna that like if that is the ceiling and
- 41:59that's who you become, kind of shot yourself in the foot as far
- 42:05as money goes. But I'm just saying the standard
- 42:09of like these teams handing out extensions and and buying out
- 42:13arbitration. It's just nuts because what?
- 42:20$100 though for the the upside that exists here.
- 42:25And on the flip side for him, I think we know.
- 42:29We know the. Benefits of it right, like it's
- 42:31the security for the player and it's the it's the value striking
- 42:37you know while it's hot for the team, but there's I think
- 42:42there's just there's commitment to that for an organization
- 42:47there's commitment to saying this is our guy like I think
- 42:51that's what it says more than anything.
- 42:53I think if we put finances aside and we put even the caliber of
- 42:58player for you to this quickly say this is our guy, Well, it's
- 43:04just strange to me. You can't just.
- 43:06Stumble into being the top prospect in baseball, Like, you
- 43:09got to show there's got to be something there that that you
- 43:13know, serves as evidence. How many?
- 43:16How many times we've heard that? How many #1 prospects have we
- 43:22seen flop? Yeah, and there's been misses,
- 43:24but like on the flip side, you you've seen, you've seen
- 43:27triggers pulled early on contracts that you you get to
- 43:31the end of it and you're going man, what a mistake on behalf of
- 43:34the player, I, I just. Think it's too early to call.
- 43:37I think it's obviously too early to call whether it's going to
- 43:40age well or not. And then I think the safety net
- 43:42is like if it doesn't age well, like it's like not that much
- 43:45money. So whatever.
- 43:47I think it is the commitment to the guy and your organization
- 43:52going this direction for eight years when you don't really
- 43:57know. I'm excited.
- 44:03I would I I'm not trying to rain on your parade.
- 44:05And I all I'm saying is that like it is, it is kind of crazy.
- 44:10Like, you look at like the Bobby Witt junior situation where you
- 44:16see him as like an MVP candidate after an incredible season.
- 44:19And then the extension comes in. You know what I mean?
- 44:24I'd like to see a little bit more.
- 44:25I'd like to see a full freaking season.
- 44:27I'd like to see 400 ABS under this cat before I'm I'm rolling
- 44:32out that type of security. I can see.
- 44:37Why? It's a vibe check.
- 44:38I can see why. It's like get the get the
- 44:41organization hyped about it. But to your point, if if, if you
- 44:45wait until he's got 400 ABS under his belt, the price like
- 44:49the price tag only goes up. I get it.
- 44:51But that much really going to say it's going to go up that
- 44:55much well. I just threw that out because
- 44:57that's the number you throw out. But I'm saying like it if you
- 44:59wait a year, 2 years, whatever, it ends up being it.
- 45:03And he continues to do what they believe is, and presumably he
- 45:07believes he's capable of doing price like only goes up.
- 45:11Yeah, that's why I was excited. It's weird, man.
- 45:16These are weird. These this whole standard that
- 45:19has been like thrown out there. It really is Alex and Topless
- 45:24that started this different. Situation, but it's it's why I
- 45:30liked what they did with crochet.
- 45:32They, they've locked him up before he, he really got into
- 45:37the the depths of this Cy Young caliber season.
- 45:41There's some risk involved when you're doing that.
- 45:43And like, you got to give credit to a team that's willing to take
- 45:46that risk. Yeah.
- 45:49And I think it does put him in good shape, obviously
- 45:51financially for plugging other holes or or spending that money
- 45:55elsewhere on the roster. And this could look fantastic
- 45:58when he is in an MVP conversation in three, 4-5
- 46:02years, potentially. So, yeah, it's this weird thing.
- 46:08I don't know. I got it.
- 46:10I'm interested to see what like, because Acuna being the 1st of
- 46:14this ilk, I'm curious to see what post arbitration buyout
- 46:21Acuna is to see what you know, like for the first time we're
- 46:25seeing someone move into that chapter of this.
- 46:28We're still so new in the way this is being done and it is
- 46:33cool. That just reminded me.
- 46:37I can't. I heard about some, I don't
- 46:41remember what player it was. You hear about some lawsuit of
- 46:47you. Have you heard of those
- 46:48financial backing organizations or like agencies for players in
- 46:54the minor leagues? Is this you?
- 46:58Something with the thing you see commercials for on TV where it's
- 47:01like you can be a part of this guy's financial earning.
- 47:05Is that what you're? Talking about money, I don't
- 47:07know how they make money, but there's a there's a player that
- 47:10just I think it was Tatis. It was Tatis.
- 47:14He is suing the agency because he had signed with an agency in
- 47:21when he was in the minor leagues.
- 47:24And this agency basically is like, we'll fork over the money,
- 47:28like we'll pay for your housing. We'll we'll give you some money.
- 47:30We'll give you guarantee that your organization isn't, but in
- 47:34turn, we're getting 10% of all your future contracts.
- 47:37Oh yeah, I'm seeing it right here.
- 47:39And then I think Tatis is basically saying, like you took
- 47:43advantage of me of being a kid. Tatis received $2 billion
- 47:48upfront in exchange for 10% of future earnings.
- 47:51Tatis signed a $340 million for 14 year contract in February
- 47:552021. Which it's like I'm, I don't
- 47:59know if I can be on the Tati side of that argument.
- 48:01Like it feels like the agency did exactly what like you take a
- 48:05gamble, you know what I mean? Like you back you're that's an
- 48:08investment. You back a player and if it if
- 48:12he doesn't pan out, you're out 2,000,000.
- 48:14If it does pan out, you should be getting 34 million right now.
- 48:20Anyway. I don't know off on a tangent
- 48:21again, but that that I thought that was pretty interesting.
- 48:24I thought that was kind of cool. I thought you were talking about
- 48:28this. It's like the oh, here we go.
- 48:34I thought you were talking. It could.
- 48:35Be one of these agencies. I thought, no, I thought you
- 48:37were talking about, I saw a commercial where it was like the
- 48:40athlete income sharing system. Oh, yeah, sure.
- 48:47Speak of the devil. Emmanuel Claus, say he.
- 48:49I think he was part of this. He was one of the guys I most
- 48:54random commercial, but it would they'd come on and they'd be
- 48:57like you can. I don't even remember what they
- 49:00said, but it was like you can essentially like have a piece of
- 49:03the pie if this guy's earnings, if such and such a thing.
- 49:08And I'm like, that's such a wild system to have in place, but you
- 49:12know, but it makes. Sense if you, if you have one of
- 49:15these smaller companies that that's how you're making your
- 49:17money, you're publicly traded and like you can bring in money
- 49:22that way. Yeah, something like that.
- 49:26It seemed like it was a little. Bit of a how sick would that be
- 49:29though? Like how sick would it be if you
- 49:32you're like you had money to throw in and you're like, all
- 49:34right, I'll put in 10 grand and it gets me 1% of a potential
- 49:39Tatis contract down the road. And then all of a sudden he
- 49:42signs a $300 million contract. You're like, there's my money
- 49:46back, maybe let's roll. So that'd be cool, man.
- 49:50I don't know. Very cool.
- 49:52Speaking of cool, did you see that jerks and profile catch?
- 49:58I'm all for these low fences. Yeah, I like low fences.
- 50:02I don't need them everywhere, but I like each ballpark having
- 50:06a little section that's a little low.
- 50:08Side note on that, did Little League, did the Little League
- 50:14fences get shorter? Are these kids just that much
- 50:18smaller? Because I saw a clip, you know,
- 50:21we're like in prime Little League World Series, you know,
- 50:25like regionals. Actually they may have maybe
- 50:29that I guess the tournament actually started the World
- 50:31Series. We're in like prime season for
- 50:33that. So I've seen these clips
- 50:34floating around and I'm like those fences are maybe 16 inches
- 50:39high. Anyway, that reminded me of that
- 50:44when I saw the pro Far catch. I don't know.
- 50:47Some of these kids put some swings on it though.
- 50:51Dear Lord. We don't, we don't need to go
- 50:55down the rabbit hole of the the size of the Little Leaguers
- 50:58nowadays. But aren't they like just
- 51:00generally smaller across the board?
- 51:02I don't. And then you have the occasional
- 51:04one that's like our size is 11. Is that because we've had this
- 51:09conversation before? Is it because the kids just,
- 51:11like, aren't outside playing as much?
- 51:13Like they're not growing at the same rate because you look at
- 51:16some of the like, I know we're like past 30 at this point, so
- 51:19it probably just seems different.
- 51:21We're not that age. To be bigger.
- 51:23You think? Oh, like, overall, if you're
- 51:25going to take the average, yeah. Because I mean like look at like
- 51:30the average height of a man 40 years ago was like 3 inches less
- 51:36than what it is now. Fair.
- 51:40So I feel like that's just especially with what we're
- 51:42eating. Hello, you want to go down a
- 51:44rabbit hole that. Might.
- 51:46Be no tinfoil hat for what we're consuming overall.
- 51:51I would rather not talk about food, especially after this
- 51:54cookout gauntlet. I'm I'm abstaining from food
- 51:56place for a week. But yeah, anyway, no the the
- 52:00fences though you bring up a good point.
- 52:02I'm all I'm all about the shorter fences for for things
- 52:05like this. Profar was in the Little League
- 52:07World Series, by the way. Sure.
- 52:09Was for pure Sal yeah, catch of the year candidate man, I wish I
- 52:17could play it on here but I'm not I.
- 52:19Still, like the Denzel Clark one more more difficult.
- 52:23Yeah, that's why. That's why I said candidate and
- 52:26asked it more, presented it more as a question as opposed to a
- 52:29statement. I vote Clark more, but yeah,
- 52:34good good catch. Season saving for the Braves for
- 52:39sure. Jabs.
- 52:48Sorry, I got to take jabs where I can because I'm running out of
- 52:51room there. Why is that?
- 52:55Because my team is only going to be.
- 52:57That's a that's a great Segway because that's actually what I
- 53:00was going to bring up next. Do you have any thoughts, just
- 53:04briefly, on the state of the Yankees right now because the
- 53:07acquisitions that they made at the deadline have been booty
- 53:12your your Hall of Fame closer can't even stay healthy at an
- 53:17old timers game. He's out here tearing Achilles
- 53:20like what's happening? What's?
- 53:21Happening Cursed. I think it's officially cursed.
- 53:24Aaron Boone got tossed again today.
- 53:26Just not a curse is in place. So you guys have the curse now?
- 53:33I think so. And I I it was brought to the to
- 53:37the Nestor Cortez, Freddie Freeman tank in in the World
- 53:43Series. It was switched off when he was
- 53:46traded for Devin Williams and Devin Williams took the curse.
- 53:50But yeah, I think it's there, dude, There's not there's I
- 53:57don't know. I want to, I want to.
- 54:02I don't know what I want to do, but I I don't know why I
- 54:05continue to turn these games on. There's people, there are people
- 54:10right now listening that absolutely hate you for being
- 54:13like, well, I'm just my team's cooks.
- 54:16I'm checking out. I can't watch another game.
- 54:18Meanwhile, you guys are. Tied for the last place in the.
- 54:24Wild six games back in the division, very much still in
- 54:28play, and you hold the wild card spot the the audacity, the
- 54:34audacity. The acquisitions were the fact
- 54:37that I was excited that it like solidified the fact that Devin
- 54:41Williams isn't being brought back at the end of the year
- 54:44clearly had nothing to do with the lack of performance or
- 54:48production. But it was the fact that like
- 54:49they went and got controllable guys who are exciting, who I
- 54:53think will be good and have been OK.
- 54:58It was just a rough start to that era.
- 55:04I don't know. Aaron Boone needs to get fired.
- 55:08You said moving on Posada, Jorge Posada would be a dream.
- 55:14Speaking of a dream, dream was achieved this weekend for A1
- 55:18Gen. Powell, first female umpire to
- 55:21work a regular season game in the major leagues.
- 55:26I told you before we hopped on, I said, you know, given the
- 55:33nature of of this occurrence, this event seemed very locked
- 55:38in. Like.
- 55:40All business you're seeing her on the on the field, seeing her
- 55:46at the which by the way, we've talked about this before.
- 55:50Credit to you. I think you've been of the two
- 55:52of us. You've pushed this much more
- 55:54stronger than I have. They had a naturally they had a
- 55:58little bit of AI. Think it was a post game
- 56:00presser. Maybe it was pre game.
- 56:01I think it was post game for the umpires and they, you know,
- 56:06they're congratulating or talking.
- 56:08But I saw people in the comments being like this needs to be a
- 56:11regular occurrence. We need to have them.
- 56:13After garbage games of like 23 missed calls behind the plate,
- 56:17like, yes, let's have that. Not just yeah.
- 56:24All business, though, in the press, we're in the only field.
- 56:27Probably good point is that I I'm curious to see the first
- 56:30manager that gets in her face starts screaming at her.
- 56:33Just I need to see that moment. I need to see what that what
- 56:36that brings out of her it. You know, like I.
- 56:45Look, let's just call a spade a spade.
- 56:47Like this is a controversial thing and people like there's
- 56:50people on both sides of people that are celebrating it and
- 56:52people that are like, why is this a thing?
- 56:55The reality of it is, is the way that society currently operates
- 57:04is that there's presumably going to be instances where you're
- 57:08going to have, I'm not going to say Aaron Boone, but as a guy
- 57:12that gets ejected a lot, maybe more prone to it.
- 57:15But you're going to have someone in a situation where they get
- 57:19tossed and they're going to want to get up in the face of Jen.
- 57:23And it's going to be, it's just going to be interesting to see
- 57:27how that fallout happens because you're going to be, you're going
- 57:33to have people being like, well, why are you yelling at a woman?
- 57:35And then it's going to be, well, she's no different than anybody.
- 57:38It's just going to be an interesting conversation.
- 57:40That's all. That's just different in our
- 57:43sport because like we obviously have seen female referees in
- 57:52other sports. Our sport is very specifically
- 57:57like there's opportunities to scream at the umpires routine
- 58:03that like that's a part of our game more than it is a part of
- 58:08other games. Then I'm not saying you don't
- 58:10have football coaches yelling at refs or basketball coaches
- 58:12yelling at refs because like absolutely you do.
- 58:16But our managers get tossed because of yelling and what they
- 58:19say. And it's specifically in the
- 58:21rule book that you can't argue certain things and that will
- 58:25cause you to get tossed. And there are the the the words
- 58:29in particular that get you automatically tossed if there
- 58:33there is a short list of words that you cannot say if you want
- 58:37to stick around. So it's going to be interesting.
- 58:40It's going to be interesting to see, I think like, yeah, moving
- 58:52on, I guess. So you got to, we got
- 58:54politically correct things that we got to stick to.
- 58:56So I, I'm not for it. I'm not against it.
- 58:59I just, I'm all about the best people at their job having that
- 59:02job. And I'm sure she's good at her
- 59:05job. Yeah, which goes back, goes back
- 59:07to what I was saying. Seems like she's all business,
- 59:09you know, you got plenty people, you know, vouching for the work
- 59:13she's put in. So, you know, respect, respect
- 59:15for, for the history that's been made.
- 59:21I guess all really got nothing, nothing to to noteworthy to to
- 59:27really tack on here unless you got anything else.
- 59:36No, I don't think I'm all good. Cheers.
- 59:42Anything we need to promote? Did we?
- 59:43Did we settle on when the next when the next score keeping is
- 59:50going to be? Just to give people learning how
- 59:53to keep book, just to give people an idea when that might
- 59:56be. If we haven't, it's fine, but I
- 59:58didn't know if we'd settled on something.
- 1:00:00We're between two dates. We're.
- 1:00:03Between I think the Little League Classic, Speaking of
- 1:00:06Little League, I think we're we're siding between that and.
- 1:00:10Mets Mariners, which like, I don't.
- 1:00:12The only thing is that we've had every.
- 1:00:14It's been a Mets game seemingly every freaking time.
- 1:00:17Every. Time.
- 1:00:19That's the only reason I'm hesitating on that one.
- 1:00:22So it would either be that or the 24th, which is soxy Yankees
- 1:00:29funny enough, so we'll let you know which.
- 1:00:33I don't know if I have the heart.
- 1:00:35My God, stop you. You're literally in the
- 1:00:39postseason today. Stop with the like I.
- 1:00:46You're kidding. You think that I mean?
- 1:00:50On paper, you are in the playoff and you're acting as if your
- 1:00:54team is 20 games back. Might as well be.
- 1:00:58Might as well be. People, they're people that
- 1:01:03cannot stand the the, the pity party that you're throwing.
- 1:01:07Around I'm not throwing a pity party.
- 1:01:08I'm you are absolutely. I don't know if I can sit there
- 1:01:12and I and and actually talk crap with you for four hours while we
- 1:01:18keep book because I hate my team.
- 1:01:20I don't need a pity party. Is there every time you don't
- 1:01:24hate your team? Because if I remember, I feel
- 1:01:26like you hated them when they were in the World Series last
- 1:01:29year. Like I don't this team doesn't
- 1:01:30deserve to be here. Like is there?
- 1:01:33No, I was hyped beginning of the year.
- 1:01:36I was hyped after the deadline. This team's better than last
- 1:01:39year. Somehow we're worse.
- 1:01:40I don't. I don't know what else to do.
- 1:01:44Any who's? Football.
- 1:01:45Fantasy football. Yeah, we'll, we'll keep we'll,
- 1:01:49we'll we'll keep talking about it.
- 1:01:51We'll figure out a date for our next score keeping for those
- 1:01:53that want to join us. That's always that's always a
- 1:01:56blast. I I, as I've said before, I
- 1:01:59thoroughly enjoy doing those. So keep an eye out for for when
- 1:02:02that gets decided. I'm going to make it a personal
- 1:02:07mission to work on getting some new merch on the shot.
- 1:02:13I full full the full acknowledgement here, full
- 1:02:19accountability. I have really dropped the ball
- 1:02:22on promoting that. So I need to I need to get back
- 1:02:26in the lab, especially with it was some new some new artwork,
- 1:02:30maybe incorporate some new some new things.
- 1:02:34As you can see here on the stream.
- 1:02:35If you're watching or if you're listening on your podcast that
- 1:02:38you'll probably see our our updated artwork worth just our
- 1:02:41our beautiful faces from our from our looking.
- 1:02:45Mugs right there. From our shoot in Atlanta.
- 1:02:48So who knows, maybe, maybe get some, maybe that'll serve as
- 1:02:51some inspiration to get some new merch up on the shop.
- 1:02:56Other than that, though, should be everything.
- 1:02:59We'll see you guys. What's today, Sunday?
- 1:03:00We'll see you guys Wednesday. Does Wednesday work for you?
- 1:03:05I think Wednesday works for me. We'll talk.
- 1:03:12Tentatively, Wednesday, maybe Thursday, we'll we'll let you
- 1:03:16know. We'll talk.
- 1:03:18This is the reality of not doing this full time.
- 1:03:22Yet adults, man, adults. Whether your friends do it,
- 1:03:30whether your favorite players do it, whether your favorite teams
- 1:03:34do it, Whether your least favorite teams do it, you don't
- 1:03:40do it. Don't go chasing curbles.
- 1:03:43We love you all, is always looking forward to talking more
- 1:03:45baseball with you guys soon. Until next time, stay filthy.
