- 0:00Speaker 1: This is the Benn and Ashley I Almost Famous podcast
- 0:03Speaker 1: with IHR Radio. This is a very special episode of
- 0:08Speaker 1: the Almost Famous podcast. We are in Karmo by the Sea.
- 0:12Speaker 1: We are here thanks to Hyunday, the Hunday Tucson Hybrid
- 0:16Speaker 1: plug in ev. There's an incredible vehicle that's been with
- 0:20Speaker 1: us all weekend through this journey, and Hunday has been
- 0:22Speaker 1: with us for a lot of this year as we've
- 0:24Speaker 1: had some great experiences. Ashley, I want to quickly say
- 0:28Speaker 1: and tell a little story, if that's okay. So this
- 0:32Speaker 1: weekend last week and I was in at Indiana University.
- 0:34Speaker 1: I brought Jessica to my alma mater for a basketball game.
- 0:38Speaker 1: Kill Royce is our college bar there. It's a very
- 0:41Speaker 1: popular bar. It was packed a lot of just interaction
- 0:45Speaker 1: with some incredible people, some incredible Hoosiers. I want to
- 0:48Speaker 1: give a special shout out to michaela, Lexei Sydney and Jayden.
- 0:52Speaker 1: They came up to me, fans of the Almost Famous
- 0:55Speaker 1: podcast since the beginning, and they come up to me
- 0:57Speaker 1: they're like, Ben, we really love you, we love the podcast.
- 1:00Speaker 1: I was like, thank you, it's so nice of you,
- 1:01Speaker 1: and they say, but we really love Ashley. It's like
- 1:05Speaker 1: really love Ashley, like obsessed with Ashley. And I said, okay,
- 1:09Speaker 1: that's great. Ashley needs to hear this, I do. She
- 1:12Speaker 1: needs to hear that she is so loved and that
- 1:14Speaker 1: people are coming up to me telling her how awesome
- 1:16Speaker 1: she is. So we FaceTime Ashley Ashley answers. It was
- 1:19Speaker 1: like eleven o'clock on a Saturday and Dawson was in bed.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Ben was calling me. I was like, what could this be?
- 1:26Speaker 1: You know, call from Ben? It's always something he's not
- 1:29Speaker 1: calling the chat, which is totally fine, Like we don't.
- 1:31Speaker 1: I just never call people in chat. And Ben doesn't
- 1:33Speaker 1: call me a chat either, which is I like, I
- 1:35Speaker 1: like that yeah voices, Yeah, yeah, you know he would
- 1:39Speaker 1: chatting the podcast. Yeah. So this girl came on the
- 1:42Speaker 1: line and she was like screaming and telling me how
- 1:46Speaker 1: much she's like loving me from the beginning, particularly in
- 1:50Speaker 1: the Badlands. And I'm like, this girl's in college. That
- 1:53Speaker 1: means like pretty much she's twenty two or below. Yeah,
- 1:56Speaker 1: And I'm like, are you twelve during that episode? Close
- 2:01Speaker 1: to it? Probably? But that really did make my day. No,
- 2:04Speaker 1: and they loved you. The enthusiasm was unmatched and it's nice.
- 2:09Speaker 1: I love fangirls, you know, because I am a fan girl,
- 2:12Speaker 1: so it just makes me feel really cool. Well, and
- 2:15Speaker 1: just the fact that they've listened to the podcast, you know,
- 2:17Speaker 1: we it's a podcast as a unique medium where there
- 2:19Speaker 1: is a lot of separation between us and people listening.
- 2:22Speaker 1: We don't get a lot of contact with the listeners
- 2:25Speaker 1: because we sit on a microphone. It's not like we're
- 2:28Speaker 1: doing a live show or we're on stage or whatever.
- 2:31Speaker 1: And so anytime you get listeners coming up and saying
- 2:33Speaker 1: I listened to your show, I love your show, it's
- 2:37Speaker 1: really meaningful because we put a lot of time into
- 2:40Speaker 1: the show, and as a co host of yours, it's
- 2:44Speaker 1: incredible for me to hear you like them come and
- 2:46Speaker 1: say I love Ashley Like well, people come up and
- 2:49Speaker 1: tell me about you being that favorite bachelor all the
- 2:52Speaker 1: time as well. Yeah, but they're not saying I love
- 2:54Speaker 1: him as a person, like he was just a good bachelor. Oh,
- 2:56Speaker 1: you know, they're talking about him as a person. He
- 2:59Speaker 1: was decent on tv UM. But it was awesome, so
- 3:02Speaker 1: special special set out to the four of them and
- 3:05Speaker 1: all the others at Indiana University. UM. It was a
- 3:08Speaker 1: really special weekend. We had a great time, got a
- 3:11Speaker 1: tour of the facilities. My buddy Brandon, Um, who is
- 3:14Speaker 1: somebody I talked about a lot who has als. You
- 3:17Speaker 1: can follow him at Condy cause in his story he's
- 3:19Speaker 1: a massive EU fan, so he was able to get
- 3:21Speaker 1: the tour with his wife. Is that where you met who? Brandon?
- 3:24Speaker 1: I know we're in high school, same high school. But
- 3:27Speaker 1: we went back to Indiana all together, had a lot
- 3:30Speaker 1: of fun. Um again, we have a big weekend in
- 3:33Speaker 1: front of us thanks to Hundai. Uh. The Tucson is
- 3:38Speaker 1: an incredible vehicle, spacious. You love the heated seats. I
- 3:42Speaker 1: also loved the roof. It opens all the way. Yeah
- 3:45Speaker 1: that in the version that we have this week. Yeah,
- 3:47Speaker 1: that's a nice one. Um. So anyways, great weekend, great vehicle,
- 3:51Speaker 1: great times all together again. By the way, the heated
- 3:54Speaker 1: seats are in the back. Guys, they're back too. I
- 3:56Speaker 1: mean that's a luxury, come luxury. Yeah, we have our
- 3:59Speaker 1: first friend here for the weekend. It's Dean and Kaylyn.
- 4:02Speaker 1: We're gonna sit down with him together. Then Ashley, I'm
- 4:04Speaker 1: gonna talk to Bob and Clayton kind of a boy's chat,
- 4:07Speaker 1: catch up with them. And then you're gonna sit with
- 4:09Speaker 1: the girls and have a talk with all of them.
- 4:22Speaker 1: All right. Dean and Kaylyn are with us right now.
- 4:24Speaker 1: They are two of our favorite people in the world.
- 4:28Speaker 1: Dean is just always glowing, like he always looks like
- 4:31Speaker 1: he is like just a happy guy. His eyes always bright. Yeah,
- 4:38Speaker 1: our favorite golden retriever. Yeah. I ran ten miles this morning.
- 4:41Speaker 1: You guys, Dean, you look like you've been hit by
- 4:43Speaker 1: a truck. What's going on, buddy, Well, I wanted to
- 4:49Speaker 1: blame you for this. We were at the bar at
- 4:51Speaker 1: the hotel last night and you just kept making me
- 4:54Speaker 1: drink more drinks. This is a hangover. Rwasen right now. Yes,
- 4:57Speaker 1: I wasn't sure whether or not I was worried about
- 5:02Speaker 1: your dog. Is that how you remember? I was making drinks.
- 5:05Speaker 1: I woke up thinking I was the problem, but Rachel
- 5:07Speaker 1: texted me saying Ben Higgins is the problem. Goodness great.
- 5:11Speaker 1: Ben Higgins can be a little he can be a
- 5:13Speaker 1: bad influence. He seems like an angel. But it's great.
- 5:16Speaker 1: So I've got some reinforcements on my side. Oh oh,
- 5:19Speaker 1: feeling the story is not true. I think I met you, guys.
- 5:23Speaker 1: I think you were already there when I got there
- 5:24Speaker 1: last night, you had drinks already in front of you
- 5:26Speaker 1: before I even got to the hotel. No, this is correct. No,
- 5:33Speaker 1: so let's just blame me. It feels like the easy
- 5:35Speaker 1: out and I can take it. I can handle it. Uh.
- 5:38Speaker 1: I would say that the amount of tired you are
- 5:43Speaker 1: and um and how you're feeling is the sign that
- 5:46Speaker 1: you had a lot of fun yesterday, Klin. I know
- 5:48Speaker 1: you went to the spa. Yeah, I had a great
- 5:51Speaker 1: spa day, great girls day. And can I have another
- 5:54Speaker 1: great day? We're gonna go shopping. Just it's a lot
- 5:57Speaker 1: of girl time, which I love. I feel like we
- 5:59Speaker 1: don't get that a lot. We we're not like away
- 6:00Speaker 1: from our spouses and significant others. And it's so true. Yeah,
- 6:03Speaker 1: it was like when we went to Tahoe. We had
- 6:05Speaker 1: a great time. And you know sometimes I need like
- 6:08Speaker 1: the mommy break. You know, I don't think I need
- 6:10Speaker 1: it though in the moment, Well, yes I do, Yes,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I don't. Whatever. That's another topic. I'm more concerned about
- 6:14Speaker 1: Dean right now. He looks like he's going to just
- 6:17Speaker 1: I don't know what we should do with you. Well, um,
- 6:21Speaker 1: there's a couple of things to catch up with you
- 6:22Speaker 1: two about um her ring is on her finger. Actually,
- 6:27Speaker 1: I have a bone to pick with both of you guys.
- 6:29Speaker 1: Both of you guys didn't show up at our engagement.
- 6:31Speaker 1: Oh my god, they're doing it on air. I literally
- 6:33Speaker 1: just talking about it. I want to worry about it.
- 6:37Speaker 1: And she was like, it's all fine, Oh, it's a
- 6:39Speaker 1: podcast bit guys. Oh no, my wife went. And I
- 6:44Speaker 1: feel like when you get married, you're a unit. And
- 6:47Speaker 1: Jessica left love Yeah, okay, Ashley, what's your excuse? Well,
- 6:51Speaker 1: we already told you about we have a child and
- 6:54Speaker 1: it would have been a long three plus days without Yeah,
- 6:57Speaker 1: I get it. Next more important, I know it was
- 7:00Speaker 1: a certain it was a certain thing, you know, the
- 7:04Speaker 1: thing you know. I'm totally kidding. It's actually really nice
- 7:08Speaker 1: for us because it frees up some spots at the wedding. Now,
- 7:14Speaker 1: Jessica did go to your engagement party. She said it
- 7:16Speaker 1: was spectacular. She got to meet a couple of your friends. Um,
- 7:19Speaker 1: she's really happy that she made it out. So you
- 7:22Speaker 1: did have your engagement party? Yeah, um, and she is
- 7:24Speaker 1: wearing her engagement ring. So how did you find it?
- 7:29Speaker 1: Not the one? This is not the one you said,
- 7:31Speaker 1: it's a what moist most fake one, but guess what
- 7:35Speaker 1: they look real and can't tell. I am all down
- 7:37Speaker 1: for these Moistonites. Let me ask you why that I
- 7:39Speaker 1: spent so much money on a real one on you
- 7:41Speaker 1: can just get a fake that was the thing before
- 7:44Speaker 1: the other one. I didn't know this was the thing
- 7:45Speaker 1: until like two months ago, and now I've been seeing
- 7:47Speaker 1: them everywhere and I'm like, oh, I would have totally
- 7:49Speaker 1: rather say bigger and less money. I mean, not that
- 7:54Speaker 1: we had to pay for mine, but you know the question,
- 7:56Speaker 1: thank you? Yeah, yeah, that's special ashes, But real quick
- 8:01Speaker 1: before he gets upset, he got a truck out of this,
- 8:03Speaker 1: so you're okay, I got a great truck. Yeah yeah, okay. Anyways,
- 8:07Speaker 1: so are you done looking for the other ring? Have
- 8:09Speaker 1: we given up? Hope? There's one more spot. I think
- 8:11Speaker 1: it might be. Yeah, it might be in the filter
- 8:15Speaker 1: of the laundry machine. You know, there's like a catchall
- 8:17Speaker 1: on the laundry machine. I think it might be in
- 8:19Speaker 1: there cleaner that you haven't cleaned out recently. I haven't
- 8:21Speaker 1: touched it since it was into the house. I just
- 8:23Speaker 1: found out we were like under it, but like not
- 8:26Speaker 1: the actual point that all the time, like the vent
- 8:28Speaker 1: underneath you think it might be in there? Yeah, okay, okay,
- 8:31Speaker 1: but what leads you to that believe? Um? Just I
- 8:34Speaker 1: think it might have been like one of my pockets
- 8:35Speaker 1: or something and Kyl want to wash it or you
- 8:37Speaker 1: don't remember taking it out of the drawer and then
- 8:39Speaker 1: putting into a pocket and then losing it. No, why
- 8:41Speaker 1: would you put it in your pocket that day? I
- 8:42Speaker 1: was gonna go get it mounted because it was just
- 8:44Speaker 1: the jam, right, And yeah, we just to clarify again,
- 8:48Speaker 1: we've been missing the stone, not the actual setting, right,
- 8:52Speaker 1: which is obviously the most expensive part. Yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 8:56Speaker 1: but that's okay, It's okay, it'll turn up. Hey, Kaylin,
- 8:59Speaker 1: why don't you stay around and we'll bring with show
- 9:01Speaker 1: and Rachel and we'll just do a little girl chat. Great.
- 9:03Speaker 1: I love the girl time girls chat, just like the
- 9:06Speaker 1: just the show. Do you guys are get your mics?
- 9:10Speaker 1: Do you guys remember when you first heard what a
- 9:12Speaker 1: girl chat was. You're like, what's that? And then you're like, oh,
- 9:15Speaker 1: it's traumatized. You reveal yourself, reveal your feelings about the
- 9:19Speaker 1: same man to each other. Okay, So I actually so
- 9:22Speaker 1: because I came in late rite so like you know
- 9:24Speaker 1: that learning that all the girls go through together after
- 9:27Speaker 1: the first night and you kind of like figure out
- 9:29Speaker 1: what reality TV looks like behind the scenes. Yeah, I
- 9:32Speaker 1: came in, They're like, we all need to go for
- 9:34Speaker 1: girl chat, and I remember being like, what the hell
- 9:36Speaker 1: is that? I must have been sucking for you. You
- 9:38Speaker 1: weren't able to like learn together? Best guys are so beautiful?
- 9:45Speaker 1: I was like, why would we do that? I always
- 9:47Speaker 1: thought when I watched it that those were like organic
- 9:49Speaker 1: conversations that people just had with each other. Yeah, absolutely not,
- 9:54Speaker 1: absolutely not. Did you talk to your girlfriend zone in
- 9:57Speaker 1: the house about that stuff in a non orchestrated ways?
- 10:01Speaker 1: I did, because I was really close with Cassie, and
- 10:04Speaker 1: I would be like, I think I like him. She's
- 10:05Speaker 1: like I think I like him, and you know, yeah,
- 10:08Speaker 1: but then we can't say that on camera. We're like,
- 10:10Speaker 1: I definitely like him, you know, yeah, what about you guys?
- 10:14Speaker 1: I yes, definitely, once we got used to it, and
- 10:18Speaker 1: there are times where we'd sit down on a girl
- 10:20Speaker 1: chat and you'd actually have reflections that you would go
- 10:23Speaker 1: through sometimes, but they definitely happen more organically off the
- 10:28Speaker 1: camera or like off the couches. Let me just say,
- 10:30Speaker 1: off the couches. Yeah, and then you're whispering and you're
- 10:33Speaker 1: being really honest. But I think I only whispered good things.
- 10:39Speaker 1: I don't reell. You know. What I talked about with
- 10:41Speaker 1: my girls was just the other girls. I don't think
- 10:44Speaker 1: I talked about Chris Souls so much. Did you guys
- 10:47Speaker 1: talk more gossip or like actually about your lead? Oh? God,
- 10:52Speaker 1: like off the you know, I have two Batchelrettes here,
- 10:54Speaker 1: so I mean when you were part of the Bachelor,
- 10:57Speaker 1: I feel like for mine, I would always talk about
- 11:00Speaker 1: how I like felt more like obviously there's gossip, like
- 11:03Speaker 1: you're always talking about everything. But I was super invested,
- 11:07Speaker 1: and I feel like I was talking to women who
- 11:08Speaker 1: were also super invested. And it was so weird because
- 11:11Speaker 1: I remember feeling like we were talking about different people.
- 11:15Speaker 1: It was always like, you know, you're talking about the
- 11:17Speaker 1: same person, but you're so delusional at that point in
- 11:20Speaker 1: that journey that you're like, it doesn't feel good stuff.
- 11:26Speaker 1: Thanks for letting us know that I am delusional though. No,
- 11:29Speaker 1: But I think that's the only way that you can
- 11:31Speaker 1: like be friends with you know, as close as you
- 11:33Speaker 1: are with the girls, you have to be like you're
- 11:35Speaker 1: dating someone else. You just have to like put that
- 11:36Speaker 1: in your mind, you know. Well, especially with you and
- 11:38Speaker 1: Cassie being you know first and then fourth, you guys
- 11:43Speaker 1: must have like really been in a weird spot because
- 11:46Speaker 1: you knew he was taking you both so seriously. And
- 11:48Speaker 1: then I guess Rachel you too, Yeah, like with your
- 11:51Speaker 1: three girls, Yeah, yeah, we would always all talk. I
- 11:54Speaker 1: don't know, It's just I don't know, I just so
- 12:01Speaker 1: different way. So it's not no, it's I'm not okay,
- 12:07Speaker 1: I'm not cringing at It's it's just I had such
- 12:11Speaker 1: an abnormal experience as you came in late, because honestly, okay,
- 12:16Speaker 1: so to kind of paint a quick picture, right, you
- 12:18Speaker 1: come in late, this's gonna natural barrier, barrier right off
- 12:21Speaker 1: the bat. I come in late, I get the one
- 12:23Speaker 1: on one okay, so right away, Yet that target right
- 12:27Speaker 1: instantly instilled as I'm seen as this like B squad
- 12:32Speaker 1: of a group that really was supposed to be a
- 12:34Speaker 1: part of the A squad. We were there since night one.
- 12:38Speaker 1: Lee just was very overwhelmed, and so it had that
- 12:42Speaker 1: natural barrier. I was so close with Ryan Clay to
- 12:44Speaker 1: her who I came in with, but then she was
- 12:46Speaker 1: sent home a few weeks later. Eventually down the road,
- 12:49Speaker 1: I did. I became close with Briefe Springs, but then
- 12:51Speaker 1: remember our season finale, it was all about this race scandal.
- 12:55Speaker 1: So it's like the people that you become close with.
- 12:58Speaker 1: It was just a really weird situation where there's all
- 13:00Speaker 1: these intense barriers that I'm close with them now. But
- 13:05Speaker 1: as far as like opening up during the entire season,
- 13:10Speaker 1: I really really was guarded because I I've felt that
- 13:16Speaker 1: target from night one and it really didn't let up.
- 13:19Speaker 1: The only time it let up is when shit hit
- 13:21Speaker 1: the fan and Matt found out that people were saying
- 13:24Speaker 1: some really nasty things across the board about everybody, and
- 13:28Speaker 1: that's when people kind of like reeled it in quite
- 13:30Speaker 1: a bit. But it's so funny because it's like the
- 13:33Speaker 1: camaraderie and that people talk about, I, guy, you didn't have,
- 13:37Speaker 1: it wasn't there. It wasn't there, and the people who
- 13:40Speaker 1: really did. And it was there with Ryan, it was
- 13:42Speaker 1: there with Briefe Springs, but it was very much turned
- 13:46Speaker 1: into like a nasty girl fight kind of concept, and
- 13:50Speaker 1: then moving forward, once it was checked, then it was
- 13:53Speaker 1: all about race and screen time and all these like
- 13:56Speaker 1: major major issues, diversity issues that as it was, you know,
- 14:00Speaker 1: we bonded, but we bonded over different things than the
- 14:02Speaker 1: typical season. That's well, like sad about that when you
- 14:07Speaker 1: hear other people's stories. Um, honest, I can't change it.
- 14:11Speaker 1: So no, I have to accept what it is like
- 14:13Speaker 1: you're you're given the cards that you're given, and so
- 14:15Speaker 1: I can sit here and feel upset and yeah, I
- 14:18Speaker 1: get salty about not being able to travel the world.
- 14:21Speaker 1: But but other than that, that's the one thing, that's
- 14:24Speaker 1: the one thing that I will joke about I'm salty about,
- 14:26Speaker 1: but really essentially like I can't change any of it.
- 14:27Speaker 1: So if I sit here and feel bad and sorry
- 14:30Speaker 1: for myself, it's like I'm only hurting myself. I'm wasting
- 14:32Speaker 1: my energy. Nothing I could do. Really, like you just
- 14:34Speaker 1: kind of handle it as you go. I forgot, But
- 14:37Speaker 1: it's just weird. I mean, Chris was, Yeah, Chris was
- 14:43Speaker 1: that whole thing with Chris and Lindsay or Chris sorry,
- 14:46Speaker 1: Chris and Rachel Lindsay that all took place like my yeah,
- 14:50Speaker 1: I'm talking about your atte You were a bubble season.
- 14:54Speaker 1: I was a bubble season. I was the one person
- 14:57Speaker 1: me and Katie Thurston, which okay, but where you know,
- 15:03Speaker 1: oh give us you know where the two people who
- 15:08Speaker 1: didn't travel Staa travel as a contestant Formicolon in Minnesota
- 15:16Speaker 1: and Mexico. Baby redo for Michelle, I'm calling you, no,
- 15:21Speaker 1: I'll travel, Michelle. I'm so why am I drawing a blank?
- 15:25Speaker 1: Where did they take your season? Place? Your own season?
- 15:28Speaker 1: I was in Palm Springs was one hundred and ten degree.
- 15:31Speaker 1: It was the craziest shit I've ever felt in my
- 15:34Speaker 1: life out there. I was out there for tatious statious
- 15:38Speaker 1: for like five days. I've never felt anything like that before.
- 15:41Speaker 1: In the summer in August. Oh my yeah. And then
- 15:43Speaker 1: they brought me back to Minnesota. Oh that's right, that's it. Said.
- 15:47Speaker 1: Mexico is where I got engaged. Yeah, but you had
- 15:50Speaker 1: a couple of spots, yeah, yeah, yeah, Mexico. Did you
- 15:54Speaker 1: go to Salalia? You went to like where Paradix and
- 15:57Speaker 1: I love this. I'm not bitter. I'm not bitter. It's
- 16:00Speaker 1: just like it is okay for me to acknowledge that
- 16:02Speaker 1: it's unfortunate, you know, because it's like, shit, I didn't
- 16:04Speaker 1: come up with a relationship. No, it's not. I don't
- 16:06Speaker 1: want to use it's like I laugh about it. Rachel
- 16:10Speaker 1: and I laugh about it. No relationships, no stamps in
- 16:12Speaker 1: the passport, like, hey, I'm seeing myself. I did try,
- 16:21Speaker 1: but I was on a boat and I didn't really
- 16:23Speaker 1: get to get off that book. That cruise looked awesome
- 16:26Speaker 1: because I'm a huge cruiser, but like, oh really, it
- 16:30Speaker 1: wouldn't have been cool. I don't think it would have
- 16:31Speaker 1: been cool for your first one. See. I think of
- 16:34Speaker 1: cruises where I would be like in my early twenties
- 16:36Speaker 1: and have cruise boyfriends for a week, and I like
- 16:38Speaker 1: pretend to be Jock and Rose. Basically we would just
- 16:41Speaker 1: run rampid and like it would be like such a
- 16:43Speaker 1: worldwood romance. And just knowing that it was going to
- 16:46Speaker 1: end at the end of the week kind of like
- 16:47Speaker 1: made it even more romantic. But you you thought it
- 16:51Speaker 1: would last. But then they never text after and hopefully
- 16:55Speaker 1: you both make it out alive exactly watch the sun
- 16:58Speaker 1: rise as we pull into final ports and you make
- 17:01Speaker 1: promises about facetiming each other. Oh my god. Then you
- 17:05Speaker 1: realize that they have a girlfriend back at home. Well,
- 17:09Speaker 1: that also happens on the show too, So that's so true. Okay,
- 17:14Speaker 1: but like what was that experience like being on the
- 17:16Speaker 1: ship did you like? Yeah? Was it just didn't feel
- 17:19Speaker 1: like if you're about a hotel. Um. It was just
- 17:21Speaker 1: different because like we did get to travel on Clayton's season,
- 17:24Speaker 1: so we would go to these amazing places and have
- 17:27Speaker 1: rose ceremonies in these historical buildings by the water, and
- 17:31Speaker 1: for being in the boat, which it was amazing. It
- 17:32Speaker 1: was awesome that we didn't have to go through the airport,
- 17:35Speaker 1: but we didn't really get to see as much because
- 17:37Speaker 1: we're so far away from these cities, so we really,
- 17:39Speaker 1: I feel like, only got to explore Paris because we
- 17:42Speaker 1: did stay in Paris, but then we got on the
- 17:44Speaker 1: boat there and then it was kind of more centralized
- 17:47Speaker 1: on the Virgin Voyages. Valiant lady, listen, guys, you both
- 17:53Speaker 1: have like made me think this and I'm dying to
- 17:57Speaker 1: have an answer. Why am I? Why am I scared?
- 18:02Speaker 1: Right now? I'm like I was scared. We're joking now
- 18:06Speaker 1: about how you guys ended up with no one and
- 18:09Speaker 1: you didn't travel enough and all that. Do you look
- 18:12Speaker 1: back at your cast and ever wonder what if with
- 18:16Speaker 1: someone come on please, yes, okay, yeah, absolutely for me?
- 18:23Speaker 1: Hell no, now am I going back to you? Tell me?
- 18:26Speaker 1: Who am I going back to pull up the rasta?
- 18:28Speaker 1: Who am I going back to? Okay? I'm sorry you
- 18:31Speaker 1: are you now that you weren't down for you were
- 18:34Speaker 1: upset with the cast? I? No, I wasn't. No, I
- 18:37Speaker 1: truly I wasn't upset with the cast. I had a
- 18:40Speaker 1: lot of wonderful guys on my season. I truly truly did.
- 18:43Speaker 1: But I figure out. I definitely figure out whether someone
- 18:48Speaker 1: is my person or not so quickly, or whether they're
- 18:52Speaker 1: if they're just not flat out not my person. You know,
- 18:54Speaker 1: you can go on a first date with somebody and
- 18:56Speaker 1: you instutely know in the first ten minutes sitting down. Yeah, right,
- 18:59Speaker 1: Like by the time I got to the end of it,
- 19:01Speaker 1: I knew the relationship I wanted to pursue. And all
- 19:05Speaker 1: the other ones. It's like all doors are closed on
- 19:07Speaker 1: those ones. It's not like I would go backed Like,
- 19:10Speaker 1: how did you pretend? No, it took me a minute.
- 19:12Speaker 1: It did take me a minute to figure I didn't
- 19:14Speaker 1: pretend necessarily, but I it took me. I kept everything open.
- 19:18Speaker 1: But like when I shut the door, like when I
- 19:20Speaker 1: really did accept that proposal from Nate. All other doors
- 19:24Speaker 1: were closed, and I'm not at a I don't ever
- 19:28Speaker 1: see any of the other door was opening. I guess
- 19:30Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Okay, but I had a No, I
- 19:31Speaker 1: had an awesome, awesome nice guys and everything like that.
- 19:35Speaker 1: But yeah, no, I get it, like you could tell
- 19:38Speaker 1: immediately like no, no, yeah, yeah immediately, but like you're good. Yeah,
- 19:45Speaker 1: once the door was closed, door was torn. I was
- 19:49Speaker 1: very torn, and it was like a very hard like
- 19:52Speaker 1: I mean, it's a hard decision for everyone, but I
- 19:54Speaker 1: remember looking back like there were so many different avenues
- 19:57Speaker 1: in different lifes that you could have with each person.
- 20:00Speaker 1: And obviously you look back and you think that, but
- 20:02Speaker 1: I also think it might be different because like you
- 20:05Speaker 1: and Nate obviously did have a relationship after the show,
- 20:07Speaker 1: My relationship was over very quickly before my show was
- 20:11Speaker 1: even over, So of course you're watching these relationships back
- 20:14Speaker 1: and thinking like what would my life be with each
- 20:17Speaker 1: you know, different person because I really did have some great,
- 20:19Speaker 1: amazing men of my season two so obviously don't regret anything.
- 20:23Speaker 1: But what happened was even after you guys had that
- 20:26Speaker 1: moment on after the final Rose I know everyone always
- 20:29Speaker 1: asked that we just were friends, and it really was
- 20:32Speaker 1: coming from a place I think of him just wanting
- 20:34Speaker 1: to be there and support me and will always support
- 20:38Speaker 1: each other. But I mean, as far as relationships go,
- 20:41Speaker 1: I think this show is already starting off on pretty
- 20:45Speaker 1: rocky ground. So to start off already kind of on
- 20:48Speaker 1: the foot you're on, I think will always just be friends.
- 20:52Speaker 1: So did you have hopes at all that you would
- 20:54Speaker 1: be more in that moment or did you kind of
- 20:57Speaker 1: know as a stage moment. I don't think it was
- 21:00Speaker 1: a stage moment, Like I mean, I think a lot
- 21:02Speaker 1: of people want to say that, and I don't know.
- 21:04Speaker 1: I think it was him just wanting to be there
- 21:05Speaker 1: and support me, and honestly, like I would have, like
- 21:08Speaker 1: I always said, I would have ran off that stage
- 21:10Speaker 1: with Jesse Palmer, with anyone I really wanted to get
- 21:13Speaker 1: off that stage. It was just a probably hard moment.
- 21:15Speaker 1: So to have him there it was it was really
- 21:17Speaker 1: really nice. Did you feel any guilt in that moment
- 21:21Speaker 1: for Tina, because I feel like a lot of us
- 21:22Speaker 1: out there just maybe not guilt. Did you like have
- 21:27Speaker 1: empathy for him in that moment because I think a
- 21:29Speaker 1: lot of us just didn't like the way, not you,
- 21:32Speaker 1: but the show handled that. Yes, I think all around
- 21:35Speaker 1: it was what I just want to believe is a miscommunication.
- 21:39Speaker 1: But like what I've always said is I had absolutely
- 21:41Speaker 1: no idea that even was even there, because that was
- 21:43Speaker 1: a week after I spoke to him. All I knew
- 21:46Speaker 1: that day was that I was talking to Tino and
- 21:47Speaker 1: I was getting off the stage. The way they went
- 21:50Speaker 1: about it, I don't think was right. I don't think
- 21:52Speaker 1: anyone should ever be in a position where they exactly
- 21:56Speaker 1: and I think coming off of that, a lot of
- 21:58Speaker 1: people put that blame on An and me, and it
- 22:01Speaker 1: was it would I don't know who you could blame
- 22:04Speaker 1: at the end of the day, but it was no
- 22:05Speaker 1: one's intent to ever make him feel like that. And
- 22:08Speaker 1: I know even now, even Antino, I've seen that they're
- 22:11Speaker 1: they're friends again. So I think there's no bad bud
- 22:13Speaker 1: hopefully across the board. Yeah, I don't even think Tino
- 22:16Speaker 1: thought that way. I think that a lot of the
- 22:18Speaker 1: viewers also have enough blinders off to know that that
- 22:22Speaker 1: was like a production move and not anything on your
- 22:24Speaker 1: part or even well, you would be surprised, but I know, yeah,
- 22:28Speaker 1: it was like they really thought me and even just
- 22:30Speaker 1: had this plan. I didn't even know he was there
- 22:34Speaker 1: and just saw him out of the corner of my
- 22:35Speaker 1: eye and I was just like whoa, Like what is happening.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Everyone was just really shocked. So yeah, all right, well, girls,
- 22:42Speaker 1: Ben is going to take over with the guys and
- 22:44Speaker 1: they're going to talk about some serious stuff. One of
- 22:58Speaker 1: my favorite things that we ever get to do is
- 23:00Speaker 1: get together in person, and we're doing it right now
- 23:03Speaker 1: and Carmo by the Sea. Thanks to Hyunday, I got
- 23:07Speaker 1: Bob Guinney, I got Clayton with me here. We played
- 23:10Speaker 1: a little golf yesterday. We take the Hyundai Tucson plug
- 23:14Speaker 1: In Hybrid e V to the golf course. Yes, I mean, Bob,
- 23:18Speaker 1: I want to talk to you first, and I want
- 23:19Speaker 1: to talk to you about Clayton. Okay, Okay, let's not
- 23:22Speaker 1: just right next to you. So, uh, this is the
- 23:25Speaker 1: first time I've ever been with Clayton in person. We
- 23:28Speaker 1: did take the car to the golf course. Um, Clayton
- 23:33Speaker 1: is a massive human, a big man, and I mean
- 23:35Speaker 1: did that vehicle give him enough space? So here's what's
- 23:38Speaker 1: really interesting. Clayton and I are in the back seat
- 23:41Speaker 1: together we're both tall. I'm six three. I want to
- 23:44Speaker 1: say you're about six six. I gotta be honest, now, yeah, yeah,
- 23:49Speaker 1: it's a little bit of so with the hair left. Yes, yes,
- 23:52Speaker 1: I swear we both had tons of legroom. And by
- 23:54Speaker 1: the way, all of our clubs were in the back.
- 23:56Speaker 1: The trunk space was unbelievable. Yeah, and outside of the
- 23:59Speaker 1: VA cool, which was an incredible experience when we got there. Clayton,
- 24:03Speaker 1: your golf swing okay, yeah, beautiful. We were watching you
- 24:06Speaker 1: on the range. You've got muscles in your back. I
- 24:08Speaker 1: think Bob might have them. No, I do not. I've
- 24:11Speaker 1: never seen those Bob. Bob does have, but bottles. He
- 24:13Speaker 1: has all a ton of charisma. It's just a beautiful thing.
- 24:16Speaker 1: And he brought the muscles out like I was flexing
- 24:18Speaker 1: extra hard just to I did see you kind of yeah,
- 24:20Speaker 1: because I'm like, I gotta matsu up to this guy somehow.
- 24:23Speaker 1: But your muscles in your back, Clayton, I believe are
- 24:26Speaker 1: restrictive for the golf swing. In fact, I like to
- 24:29Speaker 1: stay limber, loose and have, you know, lack of muscles.
- 24:32Speaker 1: That's how so that yeah, so that we can really
- 24:34Speaker 1: get that club back with full full extension. Yeah, I
- 24:37Speaker 1: would actually say your muscles are restricting you from getting
- 24:40Speaker 1: that golf club. Yeah, okay, what kind of interview is this?
- 24:43Speaker 1: I want to say this to Clayton showed up here.
- 24:46Speaker 1: I mean, it's fifty four degrees yesterday, not what you
- 24:49Speaker 1: would expect in California, comes out to play golf. He's
- 24:51Speaker 1: got on okay shorts and a short sleeve shirt. Yes.
- 24:54Speaker 1: I loaned him some of my apparel because yeah, yeah, yeah,
- 25:00Speaker 1: my stuff has never looked some good. Honestly, God, I
- 25:03Speaker 1: was like, I almost didn't even want to take it
- 25:04Speaker 1: back because Clayton's like, here you go here, it is bad.
- 25:06Speaker 1: I'm like, no, I don't think I should wear that
- 25:07Speaker 1: anymore because you've now been seeing in it, and clearly
- 25:09Speaker 1: I don't make it look like that, Like the arms
- 25:11Speaker 1: on me when I put that that jacket on it, Yeah,
- 25:13Speaker 1: it looks like there's tons of room. Yeah, you save
- 25:16Speaker 1: that story. You say that. I really thought you're gonna
- 25:17Speaker 1: say it was my lack of judgment coming out here
- 25:19Speaker 1: with no. Oh, not at all. I mean you just
- 25:22Speaker 1: saw your going to California. I hear. You didn't realize
- 25:25Speaker 1: that California is pretty much north to south when it
- 25:28Speaker 1: comes to the west side of the United States. But
- 25:31Speaker 1: we're pretty north. Yeah, and I listened. I was when
- 25:33Speaker 1: I was coming to San Francisco. Not even close. Yeah,
- 25:36Speaker 1: So man from the Midwest, I'm just gonna go ahead
- 25:38Speaker 1: and claim that. You know, it's twenty years of my
- 25:40Speaker 1: life in Missouri. Now I'm getting shown new things, wearing
- 25:43Speaker 1: Bob's sweaters. It's a beautiful day. Yeah, we will never
- 25:47Speaker 1: look the same, Clayton Um. You know, obviously you are
- 25:51Speaker 1: a very recent Bachelor. We can't call you the current
- 25:54Speaker 1: Bachelor any longer because Zack's season has started to air.
- 25:58Speaker 1: Over the last year of being the Obviously, you have
- 26:00Speaker 1: Bob here, who is a good mentor a good friend
- 26:04Speaker 1: to many who have been leads, including myself. But you probably,
- 26:08Speaker 1: I'm assuming, haven't been able to be around a lot
- 26:11Speaker 1: of other Bachelor people in the last year, maybe especially
- 26:15Speaker 1: for a whole weekend like this. Now I haven't. I haven't.
- 26:19Speaker 1: Like now I'm starting to get kind of hooked into
- 26:22Speaker 1: all these different groups of individuals that I mean, I
- 26:24Speaker 1: kind of have a little fallout because I hear a
- 26:26Speaker 1: lot of stories happening and I'm like, oh, what is that?
- 26:28Speaker 1: And You're like, no, you'll you'll pick it up eventually,
- 26:30Speaker 1: you know. So yeah, it's like, yeah, I'm the rookie, right,
- 26:32Speaker 1: I'm the new guy. No, no real hazing besides not
- 26:36Speaker 1: yet at least I guess I still haven't no twenty
- 26:38Speaker 1: four hours. I think what's interesting about Clayton you and
- 26:40Speaker 1: I mean this isn't a complimentary way. You have no
- 26:42Speaker 1: ego about things, which I think if I if I
- 26:45Speaker 1: had some of your experiences. I mean, you played in
- 26:46Speaker 1: the NFL. You you know, you've done a lot of
- 26:49Speaker 1: I'd probably have a lot more. I might be more
- 26:52Speaker 1: standoffish to people than you are. You are, so you're like,
- 26:54Speaker 1: I've never really played golf, but here we go and
- 26:57Speaker 1: crushed it. He has some moments yesterday when we did
- 26:59Speaker 1: the scram format that we actually use his shot and
- 27:02Speaker 1: the guys played three times in his life. Yeah, it's
- 27:04Speaker 1: a really good athlete. No, I would agree that you've
- 27:07Speaker 1: been around longer than I have, but you know, at
- 27:09Speaker 1: this point, I've been around a while in this world too.
- 27:12Speaker 1: Ego is it feels like a familiar characteristic of a
- 27:17Speaker 1: lot of people that come off the show big egos,
- 27:20Speaker 1: a little bit standoffish, expect to be given things, right,
- 27:24Speaker 1: Clayton hasn't shown that at all. Very gracious. So for you, Clayton,
- 27:29Speaker 1: how has it been now being around I mean, Rachel's here.
- 27:31Speaker 1: Obviously you did know Rachel, but a lot of people
- 27:34Speaker 1: you haven't been around here with in person or probably
- 27:37Speaker 1: ever met. How has it been being around these other
- 27:39Speaker 1: contestants just hanging out having fun. There's no there's nothing
- 27:43Speaker 1: that you need to do here other than enjoy yourself. Yeah, well,
- 27:46Speaker 1: I think this is something that we all can attest to.
- 27:49Speaker 1: And often you see people on TV and I had
- 27:52Speaker 1: seen a lot of you guys on TV prior or
- 27:54Speaker 1: heard of you, and maybe I saw an hour or
- 27:57Speaker 1: two of who I thought you were, and coming out
- 28:01Speaker 1: here it shows me, I want to say, a completely
- 28:03Speaker 1: different picture. But there's just so much more to us, right.
- 28:05Speaker 1: We're multi faceted individuals and it's been really cool and
- 28:09Speaker 1: everything that I thought maybe people might have been has
- 28:12Speaker 1: been challenged when I sit down with them. There's a
- 28:14Speaker 1: lot of great individuals that are kind hearted, have sacrificed
- 28:19Speaker 1: to ego. I think we all have had in situations
- 28:22Speaker 1: where we've come to that place where yeah, people put
- 28:25Speaker 1: us up on pedestals, and then we realize that, you know,
- 28:29Speaker 1: sometimes when you're on a large stage like these, insecurities,
- 28:32Speaker 1: weaknesses can come out and you learn a lot about yourself.
- 28:34Speaker 1: And I feel that everybody I've met here has kind
- 28:37Speaker 1: of went through that journey where they've struggled, then they
- 28:39Speaker 1: found theirselves, and now they're in this place where they're
- 28:41Speaker 1: just very confident in their own abilities. And it's really
- 28:45Speaker 1: refreshing to see that. As the new guy that's just
- 28:47Speaker 1: on the other side of it, I see that, you know,
- 28:50Speaker 1: years ahead, and I go, okay, like it's gonna be okay,
- 28:52Speaker 1: I'm gonna I'm gonna be fined. These individuals have found
- 28:54Speaker 1: their way and I will too. So it's been really
- 28:56Speaker 1: cool to see that. Yeah, Bob and I can do it.
- 28:59Speaker 1: You can do it too. Oh yeah, you know, Bob.
- 29:02Speaker 1: We had a great conversation on the way to golf
- 29:03Speaker 1: course yesterday. I'd love for you to speak to it.
- 29:06Speaker 1: We talk about a lot within the Bachelor world, and
- 29:08Speaker 1: I think weekends like this have always been healthy for
- 29:11Speaker 1: me because you'd get to humanize and see people for
- 29:15Speaker 1: who they are and maybe what they're about, and maybe
- 29:17Speaker 1: not what you've heard or what you've maybe seen on
- 29:19Speaker 1: social media, but with this world, or with even going
- 29:23Speaker 1: to high school today, in middle school today, comparison is
- 29:25Speaker 1: such a prevalent thing. Right, You're comparing yourself to everybody else,
- 29:29Speaker 1: and if you're any type of critic, you're going to
- 29:31Speaker 1: be your harshest critic and you're going to compare yourself
- 29:34Speaker 1: and say, they're doing so much greater things than I
- 29:36Speaker 1: ever will do or have done. We talked about in
- 29:39Speaker 1: the way to the course yesterday because everybody in that car, yeah, yourself, myself, Clayton, Blake,
- 29:44Speaker 1: Dean Wells have all felt this way before. Right. He
- 29:49Speaker 1: has a great advice. So you know when you look
- 29:51Speaker 1: at somebody like Clayton who's just new to this, what
- 29:53Speaker 1: would you tell somebody like him who's comparing himself to
- 29:56Speaker 1: all these people? Yeah? Well, I think the biggest thing
- 29:59Speaker 1: the way to talked about too, is that you know,
- 30:02Speaker 1: social media is everybody's best part of their day, right,
- 30:05Speaker 1: Like you don't ever genuinely see people posting things like man,
- 30:08Speaker 1: I'm having a rough time today, Right, They're always like
- 30:11Speaker 1: this happened, and it's always the highlight reel of what
- 30:13Speaker 1: they're doing. And sometimes the perception of what comes with
- 30:16Speaker 1: that highlight reel can make you feel inferior, you know.
- 30:20Speaker 1: And we were talking about it yesterday. We're like, you know,
- 30:23Speaker 1: it's not what you think. It's not what you've heard.
- 30:24Speaker 1: It's not the stories that you've heard about this person
- 30:27Speaker 1: and this person doing this and this and this. Not
- 30:29Speaker 1: exactly how it went. But you know, it takes a
- 30:32Speaker 1: lot more energy to go around and try and correct everybody.
- 30:34Speaker 1: So you just let the positive stuff flow and you know,
- 30:36Speaker 1: hope for the best. But it's really about being being
- 30:38Speaker 1: comfortable with yourself, staying focused on what which you are
- 30:41Speaker 1: already doing, by the way, focusing on something that you
- 30:43Speaker 1: know makes you special and different, you know, with with
- 30:46Speaker 1: your talk about mental health and your passion for that,
- 30:48Speaker 1: and your passion for your fitness, and building your fan
- 30:51Speaker 1: base and your following based off of those things, and
- 30:53Speaker 1: you know, creating your own niche and then just really
- 30:56Speaker 1: growing within that, and you know, I think you're going
- 30:58Speaker 1: to do great with it. I mean, we talked about
- 30:59Speaker 1: it yes today, and we've all kind of got things
- 31:01Speaker 1: that make us a little bit different. The common threat
- 31:03Speaker 1: of course being the Bachelor, right, which gave us a
- 31:05Speaker 1: platform and gave us an opportunity to talk about stuff.
- 31:08Speaker 1: But the stuff you're passionate about is going to be
- 31:10Speaker 1: different than some of the things that I might be
- 31:12Speaker 1: passionate about, or Dean or whatever. But you know, the
- 31:15Speaker 1: way you talk about it, the way you embrace it,
- 31:16Speaker 1: in the way that you take the community that you've
- 31:18Speaker 1: sort of been placed into. Now it's on you, right,
- 31:21Speaker 1: and whatever you do with it as your own. And
- 31:23Speaker 1: I think I mean, from what we talked about yesterday,
- 31:25Speaker 1: everyone in that car, I was very impressed with. None
- 31:27Speaker 1: of us were, you know, keeping up with the Jones
- 31:29Speaker 1: type mentalities. We're all I'm like, no, find your own place,
- 31:32Speaker 1: grow and you know you'll you'll get there. You know,
- 31:34Speaker 1: just whatever you want to do, and you got a voice,
- 31:37Speaker 1: use it, you know, yeah, and you're doing it. Yeah.
- 31:39Speaker 1: And I think it was really refreshing to have everyone
- 31:42Speaker 1: just kind of shoot straight, because I think when you
- 31:45Speaker 1: try to keep up with the Jones, then like that
- 31:46Speaker 1: individual walks out of that or leaves that car and
- 31:48Speaker 1: they think, okay, here we go. Like now I just
- 31:50Speaker 1: heard all this new information and now I'm going to
- 31:52Speaker 1: analyze it. And social media has been interesting. I just
- 31:55Speaker 1: want to share my story because I kind of I
- 31:57Speaker 1: want to show individuals from one side to the other.
- 32:00Speaker 1: You know, prior to the show, I had thousand followers
- 32:02Speaker 1: or whatever to get maybe twenty likes on a post,
- 32:04Speaker 1: and if I got to eighty, I was like, oh,
- 32:05Speaker 1: that's really cool. Now it's like I started to post
- 32:07Speaker 1: mental health stuff. It wasn't getting the same response as
- 32:09Speaker 1: when I was posting with my now X, and I thought,
- 32:13Speaker 1: no one wants to see this, And I was upset
- 32:15Speaker 1: because I went from getting sixty thousand likes down to
- 32:17Speaker 1: the three thousand. And it's all about perspective, though, And
- 32:20Speaker 1: that's what I think you guys have instilled in me,
- 32:21Speaker 1: and I've started to realize is you know, if you
- 32:23Speaker 1: get three thousand likes on a mental health post, that's
- 32:25Speaker 1: three thousand individuals lives that you're impacting, plus whoever else
- 32:28Speaker 1: just saw it didn't click like And so it's just
- 32:31Speaker 1: been about reframing and shifting that narrative. And unfortunately for
- 32:35Speaker 1: a lot of us, compared to culture is rampant. We
- 32:38Speaker 1: can see people across the world now. Used to be
- 32:39Speaker 1: you could just see people in your own town. Now
- 32:41Speaker 1: it's like over the entire world. And so every day
- 32:43Speaker 1: you click online and you go down this rabbit hole,
- 32:45Speaker 1: and the algorithm knows how to show you similar things.
- 32:48Speaker 1: So you click, one person shows you ten more, and
- 32:51Speaker 1: you end up finding yourself not being happy because you're like,
- 32:53Speaker 1: I want to look like that. So it's it's been
- 32:55Speaker 1: an experience. But I think talking about it helps us
- 32:58Speaker 1: understand that, like, we're not alone, and you guys have
- 33:00Speaker 1: went through this to some capacity, and and and much
- 33:04Speaker 1: of you guys to a greater capacity with them out
- 33:06Speaker 1: of followers, and so I think it's just the more
- 33:08Speaker 1: we talk about it, the more we're able to make
- 33:10Speaker 1: sense of it. And then it's just you don't feel
- 33:12Speaker 1: like you're the only one going through it. It's a
- 33:13Speaker 1: weird switch. I was given some really great advice a
- 33:17Speaker 1: few years ago, because you're right. You know, when you
- 33:19Speaker 1: come off the show, you are very popular. Your social
- 33:25Speaker 1: media is blowing up. You know, you get to invited
- 33:29Speaker 1: to a lot of appearances, and then when that starts
- 33:31Speaker 1: to fade away, you start to maybe at that point,
- 33:34Speaker 1: like you are focused on things that you really care about. Okay,
- 33:36Speaker 1: what do I want to do with this platform that's
- 33:38Speaker 1: been handed to me for no reason other than the
- 33:40Speaker 1: fact that I went on a dating show. I have
- 33:42Speaker 1: this amazing gift. Now what am I going to do
- 33:43Speaker 1: with it? And everybody who's done it, well, I think
- 33:47Speaker 1: chooses a lane, like Bob was saying, you know, that
- 33:50Speaker 1: might not be the most popular lane, that might not
- 33:52Speaker 1: be the lane that's going to get you on television
- 33:53Speaker 1: or get you paid the most, but it's a lane.
- 33:55Speaker 1: So you choose your lane, and that lane's typically a
- 33:57Speaker 1: little more niche, and the likes and the fall words
- 34:00Speaker 1: aren't growing at the same rate. They maybe one step.
- 34:03Speaker 1: And I was struggling with that. I was having really
- 34:05Speaker 1: hard time with it because I was feeling like what
- 34:08Speaker 1: I cared about nobody else cared about. And they only
- 34:11Speaker 1: cared about me because of my time on the show
- 34:13Speaker 1: and because of my ability to date poorly. And and
- 34:21Speaker 1: somebody sat me down, a mentor from the show, and
- 34:23Speaker 1: they said, I hear all this, and it's true. Not
- 34:27Speaker 1: as many people are interested in liking your picture or
- 34:30Speaker 1: inviting you this because of these niche you've chosen. But Ben,
- 34:34Speaker 1: why are you doing it? I said, Well, because I
- 34:36Speaker 1: care about people. I want to sell coffee and give
- 34:38Speaker 1: it back because I really love people, and I love
- 34:39Speaker 1: being a part of their stories. And I think in
- 34:41Speaker 1: forty years from now, what I want to tell my
- 34:43Speaker 1: grandkids is not that I was on a dating show.
- 34:45Speaker 1: It's that I was involved in this story and this project.
- 34:49Speaker 1: And he said, Okay, Ben, you care about people. If
- 34:52Speaker 1: one person, if one person in his life is better
- 34:56Speaker 1: because of the work that you did, if one of
- 34:57Speaker 1: those likes is one human that says I hear Ben,
- 35:00Speaker 1: I see been and now I feel less alone. It's
- 35:02Speaker 1: all been worth it. That's how valuable that platform is.
- 35:05Speaker 1: And so for you, Clayton, you're doing this because you
- 35:08Speaker 1: care about the mental health of others and yourself and
- 35:10Speaker 1: the physical fitness of others and yourself. And if one
- 35:12Speaker 1: person on there likes that picture because their life has
- 35:15Speaker 1: been better because of the story you told, it's all
- 35:17Speaker 1: worth it. Yeah. That's the biggest amount of fame you
- 35:19Speaker 1: could ever get, that you change somebody's life in a
- 35:22Speaker 1: positive way. Yeah, and yeah, and I'm seeing that. I
- 35:25Speaker 1: think it's just it's just being able to well ultimately
- 35:29Speaker 1: find that self love and that self belief that that
- 35:32Speaker 1: I don't doesn't matter how many followers I have. It's
- 35:34Speaker 1: just because I have a fraction of the followers of
- 35:35Speaker 1: somebody else doesn't mean that my message is less important.
- 35:39Speaker 1: It can be even more. It can be just as impactful.
- 35:41Speaker 1: And we're in different categories, and I don't have to
- 35:43Speaker 1: be this individual, and I would post it first for
- 35:45Speaker 1: what I thought people wanted. I didn't have that satisfaction
- 35:48Speaker 1: when I started posting what I enjoyed and what I
- 35:50Speaker 1: thought would be helpful, and I got those one or
- 35:52Speaker 1: two messages. That's what kept me moving. So but it's
- 35:55Speaker 1: just yeah, I mean, I think you have to set
- 35:58Speaker 1: those parameters in place where if if you feel that
- 36:01Speaker 1: looking at a certain account as negative, then okay, maybe
- 36:03Speaker 1: I can block this. I mean, we have the ability
- 36:05Speaker 1: to like hide certain people's profiles, but be more mindful
- 36:08Speaker 1: of what it is you're in taking because what's coming
- 36:10Speaker 1: across our screens every day is impacting us, whether we're
- 36:12Speaker 1: you know, consiously aware of it or not. So I've
- 36:15Speaker 1: had to take measures where I said, okay, hey, like
- 36:17Speaker 1: limit the screen time, don't look at certain accounts. You're
- 36:21Speaker 1: not that person, but you don't need to be that person.
- 36:23Speaker 1: You're never going to be that person. You should just
- 36:24Speaker 1: stay in your own lane and be yourself. But that
- 36:27Speaker 1: you know that just takes time. I think it's it's
- 36:29Speaker 1: you go. You put yourself in a foreign environment and
- 36:31Speaker 1: you're just trying to figure out first how this game's played,
- 36:33Speaker 1: Like how how does I didn't know anything about social
- 36:35Speaker 1: media I got I got an Instagram just because all
- 36:38Speaker 1: my friends finally got off Facebook. So I'm like, Okay,
- 36:40Speaker 1: I guess I'm like one of the last ones here.
- 36:42Speaker 1: I need to like snoop. Now I got to create
- 36:44Speaker 1: an account on Instagram. So I created that and that
- 36:48Speaker 1: was all I knew, and then all a sudden, all
- 36:49Speaker 1: these analytics came with it, and You're just like, what
- 36:52Speaker 1: is this? And it's a beast. Well, I would guess too.
- 36:54Speaker 1: I mean, being so fresh off the show, you're you're
- 36:57Speaker 1: probably still very sensitive to critique, and you know, things
- 37:04Speaker 1: people say who have no clue who you are, you know,
- 37:06Speaker 1: And I think I said it yesterday and I don't
- 37:08Speaker 1: know if I said it in in front of them, but
- 37:09Speaker 1: I was like I was one time told and I
- 37:12Speaker 1: mean it was the best advice I ever got about
- 37:14Speaker 1: that stuff because I was late to social media. It
- 37:16Speaker 1: wasn't even around when I was the Bachelor, of course,
- 37:18Speaker 1: but it was like, um, someone basically said to me,
- 37:21Speaker 1: you know, you're living your life and everyone else is
- 37:23Speaker 1: going to comment on you living your life, right, So
- 37:26Speaker 1: what does that say? You know? It says that they're
- 37:28Speaker 1: paying attention to how you're living your life, but they
- 37:30Speaker 1: don't know you, so they're something they don't like that
- 37:33Speaker 1: you do. Like maybe you you know, you found a
- 37:34Speaker 1: puppy today and you were you know, maybe maybe they're
- 37:36Speaker 1: cat people, so they think you suck because you like puppies,
- 37:39Speaker 1: you know. I mean, it can be that it's not
- 37:42Speaker 1: that far off, because people comment on everything. And I
- 37:44Speaker 1: will tell you, with time comes perspective, right, And obviously
- 37:48Speaker 1: I've got a lot of time in between the time
- 37:50Speaker 1: I was on the show and now, and I think
- 37:52Speaker 1: that you'll you'll find that, you know, because I think
- 37:54Speaker 1: we talked about this too. I'd see like two twenty
- 37:57Speaker 1: nice things. I wouldn't even it would go in one
- 38:00Speaker 1: he or not the other. I'd see one negative thing
- 38:02Speaker 1: and it would stick with me for days and it
- 38:04Speaker 1: would literally drive me crazy, like a like a like
- 38:06Speaker 1: a thorn in my shoe or something I'd like, oh
- 38:08Speaker 1: my god, you know, a fello my shoe. And you'll
- 38:10Speaker 1: get to the point as you grow further away from
- 38:12Speaker 1: the show where it won't bother you as much, because
- 38:15Speaker 1: I don't know if it's if it means we're and
- 38:17Speaker 1: desensitized to it or why Yeah, I mean that's you're right.
- 38:20Speaker 1: I don't want to say you become callous because I
- 38:22Speaker 1: think callous means hard hearted, and I don't think that's
- 38:24Speaker 1: a place you want to get. But there's a period
- 38:26Speaker 1: where your probably feel that way, but you just get perspective.
- 38:30Speaker 1: You start understanding your own intentions more like why did
- 38:33Speaker 1: I care about this thing? Well? I want to bring
- 38:35Speaker 1: in somebody now who is also a part of the
- 38:38Speaker 1: Bachelor world, my wonderful co host, Ashley Um. We've had
- 38:42Speaker 1: a great little guy's talk here with Clayton and Bob.
- 38:45Speaker 1: Ashley is joining us. Um and Ashley, I mean, you know,
- 38:55Speaker 1: we want a little time down here with the boys.
- 38:57Speaker 1: We want to bring Ashley in now, Um, because this
- 39:00Speaker 1: is a weekend thanks to Hunday with the Almost Famous podcast,
- 39:04Speaker 1: we've had an incredible weekend, the guys and the girls
- 39:07Speaker 1: spending time together. Ashley. We're just talking about mental health
- 39:11Speaker 1: and criticism and I want to bring you in, but
- 39:13Speaker 1: I also before I do want to ask Clayton, you know,
- 39:16Speaker 1: when did this become the pursuit that you wanted to have.
- 39:19Speaker 1: I mean, I'm really interested because we saw you as
- 39:21Speaker 1: the bachelor. You obviously went through a public breakup that's
- 39:24Speaker 1: not fun, not ideal, but everybody in the streams had one. Yeah,
- 39:29Speaker 1: you're not alone there. So when did it hit for
- 39:32Speaker 1: you that this next lane, this lane was the one
- 39:34Speaker 1: that you're going to jump into and really focus on. Yeah.
- 39:40Speaker 1: So for me, I've I've been pretty open talking about
- 39:42Speaker 1: my struggles offline. I started doing that in college, talking
- 39:46Speaker 1: about body dysmorphia to my friends and we were just
- 39:49Speaker 1: having these these mature conversations and I felt very comfortable
- 39:53Speaker 1: doing so. And so when I went on this show,
- 39:56Speaker 1: I was open to the women about it was well received.
- 39:58Speaker 1: And then when everything happened in the ending occurred and
- 40:03Speaker 1: I was in a really bad spot, I at first
- 40:06Speaker 1: was very defensive any criticism that came my way, even
- 40:10Speaker 1: if it was constructive, I wasn't willing to listen. And
- 40:13Speaker 1: I was just thinking, like, as we were meeting in person,
- 40:15Speaker 1: I'm like, remember the last conversation we had. It was
- 40:18Speaker 1: tense for me because I was on the defense and
- 40:21Speaker 1: I heard gaslighting and that term just like I was like,
- 40:24Speaker 1: worst connotation, yeah, and I'll never forget. As as I
- 40:28Speaker 1: was thinking about, Okay, we're gonna be, you know, having
- 40:30Speaker 1: this talk again, and I realized I just wasn't in
- 40:32Speaker 1: a position to be able to set my ego aside.
- 40:36Speaker 1: I was so defensive and I just wanted to raid
- 40:39Speaker 1: myself of any negative commentary, and so I was in
- 40:43Speaker 1: defense mode. But because I was defending myself, I wasn't
- 40:46Speaker 1: allowing myself to accept impact for what I had done.
- 40:49Speaker 1: And I started kind of going through after the show
- 40:53Speaker 1: where I was just becoming really reflective, and I said, Okay,
- 40:56Speaker 1: maybe there is some constructiveness amongst the criticism that I
- 40:59Speaker 1: can take and find my insecurities and weaknesses. Because people
- 41:03Speaker 1: are saying things about me, not all of them have
- 41:05Speaker 1: to be true, but maybe there are some things that are.
- 41:07Speaker 1: And I found out that yeah, like a lot of
- 41:10Speaker 1: my insecurities were rooted on being a people pleaser since
- 41:13Speaker 1: being a kid when I was bullied and I'd buy
- 41:14Speaker 1: dysmorphia and I was trying to please individuals. I didn't
- 41:17Speaker 1: like the way I looked physically, so I was like,
- 41:18Speaker 1: if I don't like the way I look, why would
- 41:20Speaker 1: people like me for who I am? So I attacked
- 41:22Speaker 1: my physicalness and then I started to attack the emotional
- 41:25Speaker 1: side of it. But there were things that I lacked
- 41:27Speaker 1: that were online that I saw and unknowingly I was doing.
- 41:30Speaker 1: I wasn't purposely trying to be malicious. I wasn't purposely
- 41:34Speaker 1: trying to hurt people, but I did. And so as
- 41:37Speaker 1: I became started to accept all of this, I found
- 41:39Speaker 1: this sense of peace swash over me. And I wasn't
- 41:41Speaker 1: looking at first. I was waiting for people to apologize
- 41:43Speaker 1: for me instead of just forgiving myself for what I
- 41:46Speaker 1: had done. And I started to feel this growth and
- 41:48Speaker 1: this just like anger be released. I'm like, I no
- 41:51Speaker 1: longer have to wait for someone to apologize. I will
- 41:53Speaker 1: forgive myself for that interaction. And it just started bringing
- 41:57Speaker 1: this happiness to me. And so I thought, well, Okay,
- 42:01Speaker 1: I can just share my journey as I'm going through
- 42:02Speaker 1: it with others, and if they see how I was
- 42:04Speaker 1: able to get out of this situation and I'm happier
- 42:07Speaker 1: after everything that I went through, than maybe others can
- 42:10Speaker 1: go Okay, if he can do that, I as well can. Similarly,
- 42:13Speaker 1: what you guys said earlier. That's great, and I just
- 42:15Speaker 1: I'm like, why not just share it, you know, document it,
- 42:17Speaker 1: show it to other people, and hopefully it'll get individuals
- 42:21Speaker 1: to have the conversation. Yeah, and that's what it's all about.
- 42:23Speaker 1: More people talk about it, the more they can relate.
- 42:27Speaker 1: I think the more that people, the less they feel alone,
- 42:28Speaker 1: the more connected they feel, and the more likely they're
- 42:30Speaker 1: able to better manage their mental health as they build
- 42:33Speaker 1: that support system. I think everybody's got insecurities too, right,
- 42:36Speaker 1: and sometimes when you're put in this situation, you don't
- 42:39Speaker 1: people don't think that you would have them right because
- 42:42Speaker 1: oh he's the best, you're guy, he did this or whatever.
- 42:44Speaker 1: So being that vulnerable, I think is a great thing
- 42:47Speaker 1: to do. Yeah. Well, we're excited about your pursuit. Be
- 42:51Speaker 1: encouraging you in your pursuit. Great things, You're up to
