- 3:16beard go. So we are deep into the
- 3:18offseason and I feel like I say that every single episode
- 3:21because we are. But the good news is we are 38
- 3:24days away from the college football kickoff with the very
- 3:28first game being TCU versus Kansas State in Ireland to start
- 3:34the year off on August 29th. And then we are, if I remember
- 3:36hearing correctly, 50 days away from the NFL kick off.
- 3:42And so since we're in deep into the offseason, we haven't had
- 3:45too much drama since the whole Brandon Sorsby thing has finally
- 3:48come to a close and the whole Texas Tech issue and whatnot.
- 3:52We have though a few pretty much at this point just, you know,
- 3:57speculations as far as what we're going to do, what we're
- 4:01going to talk about, and who's going to potentially do really
- 4:03well and who's not going to potentially do really well.
- 4:07So we decided one of the things that well, I decided one of the
- 4:11things that I was going to talk about and do, I wanted to do a
- 4:14playoff prediction. And the way that it was put
- 4:18earlier that I really liked was it's going to be in pencil, not
- 4:23in pen, not in permit marker yet.
- 4:25It's going to be these are the teams I think are going to go
- 4:28into the playoffs, I think are going to do well.
- 4:33They should likely go into the playoffs because on paper they
- 4:35have everything that says that they should.
- 4:39But obviously nothing is a guarantee in college football
- 4:41because it's an unforgiving sport and anything and
- 4:44everything is absolutely possible with it.
- 4:47But I actually got the inspiration from this from Joel
- 4:50Klatt. If you don't watch his stuff or
- 4:53if you don't care for Joel Klatt, I understand it.
- 4:55But he does have a really good show.
- 4:57He has a really good podcast where he breaks a lot of this
- 4:59stuff down because he cares. He's A at the end of the day, he
- 5:03is a fan of college football just as much as the rest of us
- 5:06are. And the episode that he made was
- 5:10kind of interesting, but it was also a little confusing to start
- 5:13with. And basically he wanted to make
- 5:15a list of the teams that he believes basically are going to
- 5:20make the 12 team playoffs for the first time this year.
- 5:27And now, of course, when he was talking about it, he was
- 5:29breaking it down. That of course, means that a lot
- 5:31of teams that have been in the 12 team, 12 team College
- 5:36Football Playoff format, you know, they they're excluded
- 5:39because they've been in it at one point or another.
- 5:41Even though they might have only been once, they've still been in
- 5:44it. And he was essentially making a
- 5:46list of other teams that this would be their first time coming
- 5:49into the 12 team format and what those teams look like and over
- 5:54some of their schedules. So I decided to do something a
- 5:56little bit similar and I decided to go ahead and put in the teams
- 5:59who I think are competing truthfully for a national title
- 6:04as far as how their rosters are set up, who they have.
- 6:07And I'll be honest, part of it also comes into the historical
- 6:11factor. How successful have you been
- 6:13within the last, you know, four to five years?
- 6:17And so there's a lot of teams that were actually in the
- 6:19playoffs last year that are going to be in again.
- 6:23Now, there are a couple that didn't make it last year that I
- 6:26believe are going to make it in this year and again, are going
- 6:28to be title contenders. Now, if you look at the number
- 6:31of these, again, the numbers aren't going to match.
- 6:35This is all purely speculative. I do want to preface this by
- 6:39saying that I have teams that I think are playoff likely and
- 6:42then between the Big 12 and the ACCI believe that you're going
- 6:46to have to win the conference in order to get into the playoffs.
- 6:50But with all that being said, I'll go ahead and bring up the
- 6:53graphic to show you what I'm talking about.
- 6:56So this is who I have potentially coming into the
- 6:58playoffs. Now, like I said, Joel Klatt
- 7:00made his to where? OK, here's the teams that have
- 7:04never been in the 12 team, 12 team College Football Playoff
- 7:07format that I think are going to make it for the first time.
- 7:09So I'm like, you know what, let me do who I think is going to
- 7:12make it in, who I think is going to be the national title
- 7:15contenders who I think are likely going to be able to sneak
- 7:18into the playoffs. Like I said with the Big 12 and
- 7:21the ACC, if you have to win the conference in order for you to
- 7:25get in, I believe, because I don't think I don't see the Big
- 7:2812 or the ACC having enough teams nor the strength of
- 7:31schedule and all the other variable factors that come into
- 7:34it to be able to push more than one team in the playoffs.
- 7:38And then a few teams that I think could sneak in just
- 7:42because of the talent and just because of who they have and
- 7:44what they have on the roster. And again, we'll dive into that.
- 7:48So let's go into the national title contenders first as far as
- 7:53who I think is going to make it in.
- 7:55So let's start with Ohio State. And again, these are not in any
- 7:58particular order. So don't look at this and think,
- 8:00oh, he has Ohio State version. No, no, no, this is just these
- 8:03are the seven teams that I believe are truly the national
- 8:06title contending teams. So if we look at Ohio State
- 8:09schedule, they host Ball State, they have to go to Texas.
- 8:13So that's going to probably be the absolute biggest game for
- 8:15Ohio State and Texas both as far as this.
- 8:20I think for Ohio State, if they lose, this isn't going to
- 8:23completely derail their trajectory or completely derail
- 8:26their season. However, if Texas loses again, I
- 8:30do think that starts to send Texas into a bit of a panic mode
- 8:34right off the bat. Now I know it's only the second
- 8:35game of the season, but still we saw what happened to Texas last
- 8:40year when they get off to a really rocky start.
- 8:42They were the preseason number one favorite Arch Manning, all
- 8:44that had the Heisman handed to him.
- 8:46All of these things were coming out that you know, basically
- 8:48Texas was going to be the team to beat and they end up losing
- 8:51by a touchdown to Ohio State. But nonetheless, they completely
- 8:56derailed their season. Now they ended up finishing on a
- 8:59very hot streak, but nonetheless, it completely threw
- 9:02them off to start with. So to me, I think this game is
- 9:06going to determine Texas's future and their fate,
- 9:09especially for the rest of the season, depending on how their
- 9:11game goes, but to go through the rest of Ohio State schedule.
- 9:14So then they they host Kent State, they host Illinois, they
- 9:19go to Iowa, which isn't exactly easy, but it's it's not
- 9:22completely out of the realm of possibility.
- 9:24They host Maryland. Then the probably one of the
- 9:27other big games for Ohio State, they have to go to Indiana, to
- 9:30Bloomington to face the defending national champs and
- 9:33get revenge for the Big 10 championship.
- 9:36Don't know how that game's going to go.
- 9:38Ohio State has a lot of guys returning.
- 9:39Indiana lost a lot of guys just due to graduation and whatnot,
- 9:42but they brought a lot of players in and we've seen Kirk
- 9:45Signetti do really well with transfer players and again,
- 9:49productivity over possibility. So that game's going to be
- 9:53solid. They have to travel out West to
- 9:55USC, and USC was actually undefeated last year at home.
- 9:59And USC is actually one of the teams, as you can see on here if
- 10:02you're watching on video, they're a playoff likely.
- 10:04I think they could potentially sneak in now.
- 10:06They might have a couple of losses.
- 10:08I don't have. I think a lot of these teams are
- 10:10going to have at least one or two losses going into this.
- 10:14And I think USC takes the loss to Ohio State.
- 10:17But I also believe that Lincoln Riley's on a bit of a hot seat.
- 10:20Like I feel like he needs a good quality win to make a statement
- 10:25for him as a head coach, to make a statement for USC in the Big
- 10:2810. And and truthfully, just to
- 10:31show, hey, we're still USC, I'm still Lincoln Riley.
- 10:34I came here for a reason. Now we're in the Big 10, we need
- 10:38to make a statement. What bigger way than to
- 10:40potentially knock off Ohio State in your own house?
- 10:44But again, we'll see how that ultimately ends up playing out.
- 10:47They do have to host Oregon this time.
- 10:49It's going to be later in the season.
- 10:50It's going to be in November. It's going to be cold.
- 10:53Now, I know Oregon is typically used to some cold weather or
- 10:56they used to Midwest cold weather because that is a
- 10:58completely different beast. And then they host Northwestern,
- 11:03Then they have to go to Nebraska.
- 11:05And then of course, the big archrival, they have to host
- 11:07Michigan at the end of the year. Again, that's going to be a key
- 11:10game for Machine as well because that could also potentially
- 11:13dictate whether or not Michigan gets in with Michigan's
- 11:15schedule. If I remember right, Michigan
- 11:17doesn't have as bad of a schedule, but I'm going to get
- 11:19into that here in a little bit. But nonetheless, if I think Ohio
- 11:24State can sneak out of this, I think maybe with one loss and
- 11:31you can really pick who you think that one loss could be,
- 11:33maybe even 2. But I still think they would
- 11:36have a good enough Big 10 schedule to be able to justify
- 11:40them at least going to the Big 10 championship.
- 11:43But again, we'll see how things ultimately end up playing out.
- 11:47So sticking with the Big 10, let's go to IUIU.
- 11:52Actually a little bit of a little bit of a tough schedule,
- 11:56but not too terribly bad with IU.
- 11:58So they host North Texas, they host Howard and they host
- 12:01Western Kentucky and they host Northwestern.
- 12:03So they are at home all of September.
- 12:05Indiana does not even leave Bloomington and they're one of
- 12:08the best teams. They're undefeated under Coach
- 12:11Signetti at home. I believe they're 15 and O at
- 12:15home right now. So he could even extend that to
- 12:1719 and O before they even leave the state.
- 12:21And then starting in October, they go to Piscataway, they go
- 12:23to Rutgers, then they go to Nebraska.
- 12:25And Nebraska will be a little bit interesting to see how they
- 12:27deal with the new quarterback post Dylan Riola.
- 12:29How does Matt Rule and that team look like?
- 12:32Could Matt Rule even be coaching for his job at that point?
- 12:35We don't know. I know he got an extension
- 12:37because they were afraid he was going to potentially jump ship
- 12:39to Penn State. We'll definitely find out by
- 12:42then. Then, of course, they host Ohio
- 12:45State. That'll be a big game.
- 12:46Then they go to Michigan immediately after.
- 12:48So this is within two weeks, they host Ohio State and then go
- 12:50to Michigan. Not exactly going to be an easy
- 12:53game. It's right before Halloween that
- 12:57that's going to be tough for them.
- 12:58And it'll be interesting to see. How does Kyle Woodingham have
- 13:02the Wolverines and are the Wolverines going to be in
- 13:04desperation though, because they might be at that point?
- 13:06OK, we need to we need to win in order to keep our playoff hopes
- 13:09even potentially alive. But truthfully, I feel for
- 13:13Michigan. Anything better than what they
- 13:15had last year, which was a little bit rough for them.
- 13:18And of course, post the whole Sharon Moore situation is
- 13:21probably going to be a success for them.
- 13:24But I mean, they they just lost their AD.
- 13:26He's going to step down the whole Sharon Moore.
- 13:29They won a national, they won a national championship in
- 13:31basketball. And then Dusty Manny bolts to
- 13:33The Mavericks. So Michigan's a little bit
- 13:35probably tender right now. If I had to bet.
- 13:38Then Indiana hosts Minnesota, they host USC, which is a huge
- 13:43benefit because it's on November 14th here in Indiana.
- 13:48Now here in Indiana, I will say it's very hit or miss with the
- 13:51weather. It might be freezing cold, it
- 13:54might not be that bad. And now when I say that it's
- 13:56like Midwest not that bad. And I when I say Midwest, not
- 14:00that bad, like, you know, it's like it's in the 40s, maybe the
- 14:02high, maybe the low fifties, you know, maybe you have a long
- 14:06sleeve shirt on underneath the hoodie and you got some jeans on
- 14:09and you'll probably be rocking again.
- 14:11Completely dependent though. It's been a relatively cool
- 14:14summer. Now lately it's been really hot,
- 14:19but we kept a lot of cool temperatures coming into the
- 14:22summer. So who knows how to fall late
- 14:25into the fall will end up being and then they have to go to
- 14:28Husky Stadium, which is going to be a little bit of a dangerous
- 14:31Rd. game as well because Husky Stadium's hard to plan.
- 14:33And then of course, they host Purdue in the season.
- 14:36I think this is 1 where realistically I could see IU
- 14:41losing maybe a couple of games. Maybe they lose to Ohio State,
- 14:45maybe they lose at Washington, but I still think they have a
- 14:49shot to go back into the playoffs.
- 14:51It'll also be interesting to see what does Coach Signeti do with
- 14:54quarterback Josh Hoover. He's supposed to be a little bit
- 14:57more athletic, a little bit more, a little bit more electric
- 15:00and maybe dynamic than what he was used to with Curtis Rourke
- 15:03and even Fernando Mendoza. And we saw how the Fernando
- 15:06Mendoza ended up working out. Plus they got Nick Marsh out of
- 15:09the transfer portal from Michigan State, which is a huge
- 15:11win. I watched him a lot the last
- 15:13couple years of Michigan State. He was fantastic.
- 15:15So all that works out. I mean, Indiana could
- 15:18potentially go on another run. Not not being hometown bias,
- 15:22just just being realistic as far as their schedule and everything
- 15:25else that they have. And again, keeping with the Big
- 15:2810, as far as the last of the Big 10 teams I think are going
- 15:31to be national title contenders. We had Oregon.
- 15:34That Oregon schedule isn't too bad.
- 15:39The kind of the big thing. They're facing a lot of the same
- 15:42teams, so they host Boise State. They have to travel to Oklahoma
- 15:46State, which for Oklahoma State, they're kind of a little bit of
- 15:49a dark horse right now. They're that team that a lot of
- 15:51people, I would say might even argue could be the Cinderella
- 15:55Indiana story and not the Indiana team of last year where
- 15:59they win a national championship.
- 16:00But I think the team in 2024 where Indiana went 10 and 2,
- 16:05they were winning games that they weren't supposed to win.
- 16:07And then the only two games that they lost was to Ohio State,
- 16:10Notre Dame, who would end up ultimately playing for a
- 16:12national title. I think Oklahoma State could
- 16:15potentially be in that realm. As far as to bring in miss, was
- 16:20it Musketeer? Musketeer.
- 16:22I don't want to say Musketeer. They're bringing in the kid from
- 16:25North Texas that had a great statistical year last year with
- 16:29his head coach who brings pretty much everybody with him, a few
- 16:32teammates as coordinators, everybody to Oklahoma State.
- 16:37And I think they could. Do I think they have enough to
- 16:39necessarily beat the Ducks? No, but it should still be a fun
- 16:44and interesting game. Then they host Portland.
- 16:46They have to go down to USC, which old PAC 12.
- 16:50Now Big 10 rivalry should still be pretty good.
- 16:53But truthfully, if you look at the depth and the talent that
- 16:55Oregon has, I don't see Oregon stumbling at all against USC and
- 17:00they host UCLA, they host Nebraska.
- 17:02Should both be pretty easy wins. I think UCLA is even that team
- 17:06because of Bob Chesney because he's bringing all of his staff
- 17:09over from JMUA. Lot of people are correlating
- 17:11and maybe it's another Kurt, you know, Kurt Signeti thing.
- 17:15And it's possible. I, I, I have a lot of doubts.
- 17:20I don't necessarily trust Niko Yamalayata that much.
- 17:24I think he did well. And they got off to a little bit
- 17:26of a hot start there after they beat Penn State.
- 17:28But then after that it, it just kind of fizzled out.
- 17:30And again, it's UCLA in the Big 10.
- 17:33It's gonna be tough. I don't see them being able to
- 17:36beat the big boys. But they do have the advantage
- 17:38as far as I've seen on schedule. They don't have to face Ohio
- 17:41State. They don't have to face Indiana,
- 17:44so they could potentially, but I highly, highly doubt it.
- 17:49Then Oregon has to travel to Illinois.
- 17:51I don't have any worries about that.
- 17:53They host Northwestern, no worries.
- 17:54Of course. Obviously they have to go to
- 17:56Ohio State. That will be a big one.
- 17:58They host Michigan, which again, luckily they're they're at least
- 18:02at home. Michigan has to travel on the
- 18:04road. The only team that has been able
- 18:06to beat Oregon in the Big 10 in Eugene has been IU so far, and I
- 18:11don't see Michigan being able to do it.
- 18:13But who knows? If anybody knows Oregon well,
- 18:16it's Kyle Whittingham because he faced him a lot when he was at
- 18:19Utah. So maybe he knows a little bit
- 18:21of the secrets of Dan Lanning and the Oregon Ducks.
- 18:25Then they go to Michigan State. That shouldn't really be too big
- 18:27of a worry, but I do want to see how Coach Fitzgerald does in his
- 18:31first year hosting somebody like Oregon, especially towards the
- 18:34end of the year. And again, the same thing.
- 18:36It's even deeper in November. How do they handle the the
- 18:39Michigan cold, which is a completely different cold
- 18:41because the lakes and whatnot. And then they in the year hosted
- 18:45Washington again, kind of a typical PAC 12, now Big 10
- 18:49rivalry game, which should be pretty solid.
- 18:53Now let's move to the SEC because we got Texas, so we got
- 18:55Georgia. Texas has a little bit of AI,
- 19:00would say almost an easy schedule.
- 19:03I'm not going to sit here and say it's a cupcake schedule.
- 19:05By no means. They do have some tough quality
- 19:09opponents that they have to play in that they even struggled
- 19:11against last year, as well as now rotating in some new SEC
- 19:15opponents or technically now SEC opponents.
- 19:19So they host Texas State, obviously they host Ohio State.
- 19:21I think Ohio State's going to be the big transformational game as
- 19:25far as how does the rest of Texas season end up panning out,
- 19:29if they're able to beat the Buckeyes or not.
- 19:32Then they host UTSA, they go to Tennessee, so they go to Rocky
- 19:36Top. That's kind of early for
- 19:38Tennessee as well. Maybe we'll get an idea of what
- 19:40does Tennessee look like if they're playing George McIntyre,
- 19:42of course, compared to Brandon Faison, the true freshman that's
- 19:46supposed to be a super talented guy, but kind of the same thing
- 19:50with Hypo. Hypo wins games that he's not
- 19:51necessarily supposed to and he really has been a good
- 19:54quarterback coach as far as being able to get guys to
- 19:57produce and do really, really well.
- 19:59So we'll see how that ends up panning out.
- 20:01Of course, we have the Red River Rivalry in Oklahoma.
- 20:05Again, that's a complete total toss.
- 20:06So we don't, we have no idea how that ultimately pan out.
- 20:10They host Florida this time instead of having to go to the
- 20:13Swamp, which might end up in their benefit.
- 20:16They host Ole Miss, who, again, Ole Miss is going to be one of
- 20:18those kind of interesting. How do they pan out post Lane
- 20:21Kiffin, now a complete offseason under Pete Golding as the head
- 20:25coach? They bring Trinidad Chambliss
- 20:27back. Can they repeat the magical run
- 20:30that they went on last year? Then they host Mississippi
- 20:33State, who they struggled against last year when they were
- 20:35on the road there. So maybe Mississippi State comes
- 20:39back a little bit harder. Who knows?
- 20:41Then they go to Mizzou. Then they go to LSU late in
- 20:45November. So me being a Tigers fan, that's
- 20:47what if we want, I'm like that's, that's a little
- 20:49worrisome because if they, let's say they lose to Ohio State and
- 20:55if they lose to someone like Oklahoma, Florida or Tennessee
- 20:58on the way or even Ole Miss, you know, they might be in
- 21:01desperation mode. So they might be in a lot of
- 21:03these. We got to win in order to either
- 21:06remotely be considered to going into the playoffs.
- 21:09So that's a big possibility there.
- 21:12Then they host Arkansas and then they have to go to Kyle Field to
- 21:15face Texas A. And MI think Texas A&M will
- 21:18probably want quite a bit of revenge, especially after last
- 21:21year when Texas A&M's only blemish going into the playoffs
- 21:26was from Texas at the very last, at the very end, and kept them
- 21:29actually from being able to even compete for the SEC
- 21:31championship, Which is a little bit surprising how all those
- 21:34tiebreakers and everything like that end up working out.
- 21:36And then of course, the last SEC team up there, Georgia.
- 21:42To me, honestly, Georgia has like the easiest schedule.
- 21:46Like they they really do for an SEC schedule for where they have
- 21:49to go, what they have to do. It's really easy.
- 21:52I think some people might argue they host Tennessee State, they
- 21:57host Western Kentucky. They're not really worried about
- 21:59those two. Then they travel to Arkansas,
- 22:02not worried about that. They host Oklahoma.
- 22:04That one will be interesting. How does Georgia contain John
- 22:07material? You know, is he going to be
- 22:09healthy, especially early on in the season like that?
- 22:11It's really, I'm telling how that will ultimately pan out.
- 22:15They host Vandy, Vandy's not going to be the same.
- 22:17How do they look like with their new five star freshman
- 22:19quarterback post Diego Pavia? It's still Vandy at the end of
- 22:24the day, so I don't have a whole lot of high hopes.
- 22:26Then they have to travel to Alabama.
- 22:28I think this is going to be the one loss that Georgia might
- 22:31potentially have coming into this only because Alabama seems
- 22:34to be George's boogeyman. Like Texas has a Georgia
- 22:37problem, Georgia has an Alabama problem.
- 22:38For whatever reason, that just seems to be the case.
- 22:41Then they host Auburn, they host Florida, not really worried
- 22:44about those two as much. They go to Ole Miss.
- 22:47So that'll be a big revenge game because they knocked Georgia
- 22:50out. Now Georgia beat them last year
- 22:51the regular season, but Ole Miss knocked them out of the play
- 22:54offs. So they were one and done.
- 22:56And same for Ole Miss. They might be in a situation
- 22:58where they have to win to get in, but I think for Georgia it's
- 23:02going to be a bigger revenge game.
- 23:03Like, hey, you knocked us out. If you're stumbling at that
- 23:06point and we can potentially keep you out of the play offs, I
- 23:08think this is going to be that game that keeps them out.
- 23:11Then they host Mizzou, then they go to South Carolina, not
- 23:15worried about either one of those two games.
- 23:16And then they host Georgia 10 now kind of the same thing.
- 23:19It's a big time rivalry. How is Georgia Tech going to
- 23:22look this season now with Alberto Mendoza, Fernando
- 23:26Mendoza's little brother, starting at the helm for him?
- 23:29He won a national championship last year.
- 23:31There's not a lot of sample size, but if we know anything
- 23:34about, I believe his name's Brett Key if I remember right.
- 23:37I hope I got that right. He's an absolutely fantastic
- 23:41coach. He's made Georgia Tech exceed
- 23:44many, many expectations and have a lot of really solid years the
- 23:47last few years. So I mean, it could be possible,
- 23:52honestly, not completely ruling it out, but I think it's
- 23:55possible. And then the last two for the
- 23:58national title contenders, and I think we got Notre Dame.
- 24:00Notre Dame probably has the easiest schedule out of
- 24:03everybody in here. They face Wisconsin at Lambeau
- 24:08Field. It's definitely a home game for
- 24:09them, though. They face Rice, they face
- 24:12Michigan State, they go to Purdue, all relatively easy
- 24:16games, nothing that I expect them to trip up on.
- 24:20And then they go to North Carolina again.
- 24:22I don't expect them to really struggle against Bill
- 24:24Belichick's team, you know, because I don't know what to
- 24:27expect from them. They did not look good last
- 24:29year. I thought it was going to be
- 24:30better. I honestly had North Carolina
- 24:33maybe going. I think if I remember right, it
- 24:35was like 9 and three, eight and four.
- 24:37It wasn't like I had them in the playoffs.
- 24:39Wasn't like I had anything crazy, but it was like it looks
- 24:41realistic. I don't know as much anymore.
- 24:45They host Stanford, then they go to BYU.
- 24:48So it's going to be one of the two big games that Notre Dame
- 24:51has on the schedule that I think are really going to be true test
- 24:56games because BYU, they only lost two games last season, both
- 24:59to Texas Tech, both in the regular season, the Big 12
- 25:03championship game, they were kept out of the playoff.
- 25:05Bear Bochmeier comes back. Now, the biggest question, BYU
- 25:09lost some help on the outside with their wide receivers
- 25:12because of conduct issues and whatnot.
- 25:14So who knows how BYU's offense is ultimately going to run.
- 25:19Their defense should still be solid.
- 25:20But they did lose their defensive coordinator.
- 25:23He ended up going, I believe, up to Michigan with Kyle
- 25:26Whittingham to go there. So who who knows how BYU will
- 25:31ultimately end up being and it is a road game for Notre Dame.
- 25:34So that might be a little rough. And they host Navy.
- 25:36And then of course the big one, they host Miami.
- 25:38But again, it's in November. They're way N Indiana, basically
- 25:42southern Michigan, a lot of really cold weather, potentially
- 25:46cold winds coming off of Lake MI and whatnot maybe puts Miami at
- 25:50a disadvantage. Miami got the got the win last
- 25:53year by a field goal. I think Notre Dame's going to
- 25:56feel a little bit slighted and they're going to be a little bit
- 25:57pissed off. And I think that's what
- 25:59everybody is really counting on is that Notre Dame is really
- 26:03being fueled by this revenge of last year.
- 26:06Maybe they are, maybe they aren't.
- 26:07We will. We will find out nonetheless
- 26:09though. And then they host Boston
- 26:12College, not worried about that. They host SMU, That might be a
- 26:16little bit of a worry, but again, they host it's even later
- 26:18in November because it's the 21st.
- 26:20So even colder potentially here in Indiana.
- 26:24And then they end the year by going to Syracuse.
- 26:27I know Syracuse has kind of been hot and cold last couple years.
- 26:29They were great with Colin McCord.
- 26:31He left and then unfortunately that fell by the wayside.
- 26:35But nonetheless, though, I think Notre Dame has the easiest
- 26:38schedule out of everybody in the national title contender.
- 26:44And then for Miami, and so they go to Stanford to start the
- 26:47year, which is absolutely crazy. Then they host Florida A&M, they
- 26:52go to Wake Forest, they host Central Michigan.
- 26:55Miami's first real test to me doesn't happen until October
- 27:003rd. They go to Clemson.
- 27:02Now. Clemson's a big question mark as
- 27:04well. We don't know who the
- 27:05quarterback is going to be. They failed a lot of
- 27:08expectations last year. Dabo still really hasn't gone
- 27:12into the transfer portal much. He's primarily heavily relied on
- 27:15a lot of recruiting. I don't know what his spending
- 27:19is as far as NIL goes. I would assume because it's
- 27:22Clemson, he's probably up there at the top of the ACC in
- 27:25spending. But I don't know what that is
- 27:28relative to the rest of college football and especially to a
- 27:31team like Miami who is definitely spending big money in
- 27:35order to compete in order to potentially win a national
- 27:38title. But that will still be their
- 27:40first real big test. Then, of course, they host
- 27:42Florida State, they host Pitt, they go to North Carolina,
- 27:46obviously the Notre Dame game. Then they hosted Duke, the ACC
- 27:50champions last year, and then they host James Franklin and the
- 27:54Virginia Tech Hokie. So we'll kind of see what that
- 27:57looks like. And really for James Franklin,
- 28:00and I don't think it has to be said now, but I do think, and it
- 28:05does make me wonder, will he still have the same thing that
- 28:10he had pretty much his entire time, the Big 10 of can you win
- 28:15the big game now for him, Luckily, it's late in the
- 28:18season. It's his first year.
- 28:21Really, by that point, it's going to be a determining factor
- 28:24of whether the season has been a success or not for James
- 28:26Franklin and the and the Hokies. But I do wonder when will those
- 28:32whispers and that narrative begin for him?
- 28:34If he loses to Miami, you know, if he gets an upset, I think he,
- 28:39you know, I think that saves him a little bit at least buys him a
- 28:42couple more years at minimum on top of whatever else he has.
- 28:46But it does make you wonder, can he win the big game?
- 28:50And then, of course, they end the year hosting Boston College.
- 28:54Again, not necessarily worried about that.
- 28:55So I think truthfully, Miami walks out of this maybe 11 and
- 29:00one, maybe 10 and two, and that's only if they maybe trip
- 29:04up against somebody like Clemson.
- 29:06But truthfully, as far as ACC schedules go, they got probably
- 29:09one of the best and best and easiest schedules you could get.
- 29:14Again, it's the ACC, so it's nothing crazy, but it's still,
- 29:18it is still a Power 5, Power 4 conference and they have been
- 29:23known to trip up unfortunately. So it is possible.
- 29:28So let's go through the let's go through the other, the next
- 29:31part, the likely playoff teams that I have a little bit
- 29:34quicker. So we've got Michigan, Michigan
- 29:37schedule a little bit brutal, but nothing completely
- 29:42unmanageable. I do think they could walk out
- 29:45nine and three, maybe 10 and two if they're able to get an upset
- 29:48win. And I think at 10 and two, that
- 29:52gets them in. I don't know if they get in at 9
- 29:54and three, perfectly honest, they don't, they're not as big
- 29:57of a brand as some other teams that are on here that did get in
- 30:00at 9:00 and 3:00 just because of their brand and historically who
- 30:03they were and who they still technically are.
- 30:07But I, I don't know if nine wins get you in or not, but Michigan
- 30:12faces Western Michigan, then they face Oklahoma.
- 30:14That's a that is a big one. And that's going to be a big one
- 30:18for both teams really. You know, if Michigan loses to
- 30:21Oklahoma, since it's going to be in the Big House, it's really in
- 30:24the season. You know, is that kind of a
- 30:27preface for how Kyle Whittingham and his tenure is going to be at
- 30:30Michigan? Or do they kind of give him a
- 30:32pass because he's needing to basically clean up everything
- 30:35that has happened with Michigan and Michigan is basically trying
- 30:38to refind itself? We'll find out September 12th,
- 30:43then they host UTEP, they host Iowa.
- 30:45Not crazy. They go to Minnesota, then they
- 30:47host Penn State. Penn State's going to be the
- 30:49most interesting. Matt Campbell's first year.
- 30:51He brings essentially his entire Iowa State staff and a lot of
- 30:55his players. Roccobec is probably the most
- 30:57experienced college quarterback right now.
- 31:00He comes over with them and Penn State kind of has the easiest
- 31:03schedule of them all. So Penn State might be one of
- 31:06these dark horse teams that ends up ultimately sneaking in.
- 31:09We just don't know yet. It's just one of those.
- 31:10They have such an easy schedule because they don't have to face
- 31:14a lot of the big boy teams. That truly makes me wonder if
- 31:18that's going to end up being the case or not.
- 31:21Then they they go to Indiana. That might be a little bit rough
- 31:24for them. They go to, although they host
- 31:26Indiana, sorry. Then they go to Rutgers.
- 31:28They host Michigan State rivalry game.
- 31:30Now obviously they've ran away with it the last few years
- 31:33against Michigan State, but again, you never know a rivalry.
- 31:36Then they have to go to Oregon. They host UCLA late November.
- 31:40So how does UCLA respond to the cold?
- 31:42And then of course, they end the season having to go to Ohio
- 31:45State. Again, rivalry game, anything is
- 31:47possible. So USCUSC has they have a rough
- 31:54schedule, and they mainly have a rough schedule because of some
- 31:57of the places they have to go and when they have to go there.
- 32:00So they host San Jose State, they host Fresno State, they
- 32:02host Louisiana. All three should be wins.
- 32:05They should start out three. No, no problem.
- 32:07They have to go to Rutgers. No issue.
- 32:09They host Oregon, maybe a little bit of a problem.
- 32:12And then of course, they go to Washington or they host
- 32:15Washington actually shouldn't be too bad.
- 32:18Then they have to go to Penn State early October.
- 32:20Now, again, that can be hit or miss.
- 32:21It might be a little chilly, maybe not too bad, but it's just
- 32:25it's completely hit or miss as to where that has how that
- 32:28happens. They get there by week.
- 32:30Actually, they get 2 by weeks because it's not until 2 weeks
- 32:33later. Then they have to go to
- 32:34Wisconsin on October 24th, Same thing.
- 32:37It could be blistering cold, it could be not that bad, and it
- 32:40could be Midwest fall weather. Are they prepared to handle
- 32:44Midwest fall weather? Then they host Ohio State.
- 32:47Then they have to go to Indiana late November and then they have
- 32:50to go to they host Maryland, shouldn't be too bad.
- 32:53And then of course they have to go to UCLA essentially down the
- 32:58street. And for anybody that saw that,
- 33:00my 21 LB cat decided to get into the laundry container and flip
- 33:06over because he's a big, thick, silly cat.
- 33:10Anyway, kind of jumping around a little bit on this list, but
- 33:16they shouldn't be too bad. Oklahoma.
- 33:19Oklahoma has a little bit of a tough schedule, but again,
- 33:21nothing too crazy. Oklahoma might also have a
- 33:24fairly decent SEC schedule. They host UTEP, They have to go
- 33:27to Michigan early. They have to host New Mexico.
- 33:30Now they do have to go to Georgia.
- 33:32That's a big question mark. Georgia has done very well at
- 33:34home. The only teams they've lost to
- 33:36has been Alabama. So there there is a chance
- 33:40Oklahoma could pull out the upset.
- 33:43But truthfully, overall, we don't know how that's going to
- 33:45be. But I do see this being a loss.
- 33:48And of course, the Red River Rivalry against Texas.
- 33:51They host a new Kentucky with Will Stein's coach.
- 33:54I don't I, I have to see more from Kentucky before I
- 33:57potentially get worried about it.
- 33:59Then they go to Mississippi State, they host South Carolina.
- 34:02Then they have to go to the swamp in Florida.
- 34:04Now that could be a bit of a trap game for Oklahoma.
- 34:06It was a trap game last year for Texas.
- 34:08It's a trap game for a lot of teams.
- 34:09You know, they go to the swamp, they maybe, you know, kind of
- 34:11overlook Florida, especially if Florida's kind of having a
- 34:14really bad down year and it ultimately ends up not paying
- 34:17out well for them. They host Ole Miss, which should
- 34:20be a really good game. They host Texas A&M and then of
- 34:23course, they end up going to Mizzou to ultimately finish up
- 34:28the season. So that it's one of those it
- 34:31could be Mizzou. I don't really know what to
- 34:34expect. Texas A&M should be rough old
- 34:36miss. On paper they should be.
- 34:39But again, we really don't know until we actually start watching
- 34:42them play Texas A&M. They have they have a not so bad
- 34:51schedule, right? They host Missouri State, they
- 34:53host Arizona State and they host Kentucky to start the year not
- 34:58too terribly bad. Then they go to LSU early.
- 35:01Now, they absolutely thumped my Tigers last year in Death
- 35:05Valley. But it's new Tigers team, it's
- 35:07new offense, new everything. I don't know how it's gonna go.
- 35:12I will say as a Tigers fan, this this is one of the games aside
- 35:16from the old this one that's literally the week before.
- 35:20Then I kind of circle that. It's like I don't know how this
- 35:22game is going to turn out. I think most games LSU is facing
- 35:27their favorite in, but this is still a really good Texas Tech
- 35:30Texas A&M team. They always recruit highly.
- 35:32Well, Mike Elko definitely has this team completely flipped
- 35:36around and they finished eleven and two last year they were 11
- 35:40and one all total with the only loss being 2 Texas.
- 35:43This is still a good Texas A&M team.
- 35:45Marcel Reed is a great quarterback.
- 35:47Now. They did lose KC Concepcion to
- 35:49the draft. I believe they ended up getting
- 35:51somebody to replace him. I don't know who off the top of
- 35:53my head, but this should still be a really good Texas A&M team.
- 35:57Then they host Arkansas. They have to go to Mizzou.
- 35:59They host the Citadel, Obviously a draft game.
- 36:02Obviously. Now the real test though, they
- 36:05do have to go to Alabama. So they have a lot of tough Rd.
- 36:08games. They have to go to Alabama.
- 36:10Let's see how this new Texas A&M team looks, you know, with Mike
- 36:15Elko post, Nick Saban, with, you know, Kaylyn de Boer running the
- 36:20Crimson Tide. Let's see how that looks then.
- 36:22And then of course, they they have to go to South Carolina.
- 36:28South Carolina had a huge lead up on them until they ultimately
- 36:32blew us. So maybe South Carolina has a
- 36:34little bit of revenge. We'll find out.
- 36:37Then they host Tennessee. That should be a good game.
- 36:39Then they have to go to course to Oklahoma.
- 36:41Then they finish the year with Texas.
- 36:43This might be one of those years where Texas A&M kind of falls
- 36:47into a trap. Maybe they get a little bit too
- 36:48cocky. They have a lot of tough, tough
- 36:51opponents and they have to go on the road for a lot of them,
- 36:54which doesn't always pan out well for my Tigers.
- 36:59For LSU, they have to host Clemson and Louisiana Tech
- 37:02Clemson is kind of a hit or miss.
- 37:03It's one of those I'm not completely grinding Clemson off.
- 37:06They got the upset win technically last year against
- 37:09Clemson, but Clemson didn't live up to expectations and neither
- 37:12did LSU. So I'm not completely writing
- 37:14Clemson off yet. Louisiana Tech not necessarily
- 37:18worried about now. I do worry though, will they get
- 37:21tripped up because they're so focused then on the old miss
- 37:25game because they have to travel to Oxford?
- 37:27The whole Lane Kiffin leaving situation, it's going to be
- 37:30crazy. They host Texas A&M, have no
- 37:33idea how that's going to ultimately pan out.
- 37:35Absolutely no idea how that's going to pan out again.
- 37:38They've thumped them for the last two years, especially last
- 37:41year in Death Valley. Texas A&M came in and absolutely
- 37:45dominated as bad as it was, but it ultimately LED Brian Kelly
- 37:48getting fired. Then they host McNeese.
- 37:50They have to go to Kentucky, not worried about either one of
- 37:53those. They host Mississippi State, not
- 37:56worried. They go to Auburn, not
- 37:57necessarily worried. Then they host Alabama, and that
- 38:02will be, again, Alabama's one of those.
- 38:06It's kind of up in the air. Is Alabama going to be good?
- 38:08Are they not going to be good? I really and truthfully don't
- 38:11know because of how Kaylin de Boer has been the last few
- 38:14years. He inherited a great roster from
- 38:17Nick Saban. I mean, that's probably the the
- 38:20best keys to the castle that you're going to get as far as
- 38:23championship pedigree team. Nick Saban knew how to recruit.
- 38:27Now, maybe it's a little bit different with the NIL era, but
- 38:30nonetheless, Kaylin de Boer got the best situation you could
- 38:33potentially get as a football coach coming in to take over a
- 38:37program, and he hasn't done anything with it.
- 38:39He's gone 8 and four like the last two seasons.
- 38:43Crazy. Or actually, I think 9 and four
- 38:45typically last year because they did win a playoff game.
- 38:49They did win a playoff game, but then they lost Indiana, the Rose
- 38:51Bowl humiliatingly. And then of course, they host to
- 38:56LSU, then host Texas again, big question mark.
- 38:59Then they go to Tennessee. Tennessee has always been rough
- 39:02for LSU. They're one of the few scenes
- 39:04that that Tennessee actually has a really big winning record and
- 39:08winning margin ahead of LSU because of how dominant
- 39:10Tennessee used to be. And then of course, to end the
- 39:13season, they go to Arkansas. Battle for the Golden Boot.
- 39:16Never easy because it's big time rivalry.
- 39:18It was a close game last year. LSU ended up getting the win,
- 39:21but it was still ended up being close.
- 39:24Yeah, of course, for the last team in my playoff, likely I've
- 39:28got Ole Miss again. Ole Miss is 1 big question mark.
- 39:32The schedule. The schedule's a little bit
- 39:35rough for them because again, they have to travel on the road
- 39:39and they have to host. They have to host Georgia and
- 39:43LSU both. So Ole Miss has to host.
- 39:48Louisville could potentially be a big game just cause of how
- 39:51Jeff Brohm has been. That might be an upset.
- 39:53We don't know. They host Charlotte, not worried
- 39:56about that. They host LSU.
- 39:57That's going to be the big game. LSU revenge game.
- 40:01Lane Kiffin leaving Ole Miss for LSU, There's going to be a lot
- 40:04of bad blood there. It's probably one of their
- 40:06biggest rivals that Ole Miss hates the most.
- 40:09So we'll we'll ultimately see how that game pans out.
- 40:12But they have to go to the Swamp in Florida.
- 40:13They have to go to Vandy. Not worried about Vandy.
- 40:17They host Mizzou. Then they have to go to Texas.
- 40:20That's going to be rough. They host Auburn, they then host
- 40:24Georgia again, big revenge game for Georgia potentially.
- 40:28Then they have to go to Oklahoma.
- 40:30They host Warford or Wofford. I think you said that's in
- 40:34Wofford. And then they host Mississippi
- 40:37State for the in the eighth bowl.
- 40:38So I can honestly see for Ole Miss, Georgia, Oklahoma, Texas,
- 40:45maybe for that could be potentially a four loss season
- 40:47for Pete Golding in his first year.
- 40:49And and it's nothing against Ole Miss.
- 40:50I'm not saying that they're scrubs.
- 40:52Those are tough places to play in Oklahoma, Texas and Florida,
- 40:56all on the road in really hostile environments and places
- 40:59that are already tough to play to start with.
- 41:01So I'm I don't it'll be interesting to see how they do
- 41:04post Charlie Wise, post Lane Kiffin with Pete goalie at the
- 41:08helm. So we we shall see.
- 41:12Let's move into the win win your conference and you're in again.
- 41:15I think the Big 12 and the ACC, they're only going to get one
- 41:18team in each just because their strength of schedules, just
- 41:21because of the the fact that they don't really play a lot of
- 41:24power opponents because of their conferences and whatnot, because
- 41:28of the conferences schedules. So I truthfully take, I take I
- 41:33truthfully think that if these four teams are playing for their
- 41:38conference titles, then only two of these teams are going to get
- 41:42in. So the one I think is most
- 41:44likely going to happen, even though I know the whole post
- 41:46soresby thing, Texas Tech is still probably the favorite to
- 41:49win the Big 12. And I I still think that's true
- 41:52even now. Currently they host Abilene
- 41:55Christian. Of course, they have to go to
- 41:56Oregon State, not necessarily easy, but Oregon State
- 41:59truthfully hasn't lived up to the potential the last few
- 42:02years. So I wouldn't necessarily be
- 42:03worried about that big game, though hosting Houston.
- 42:07Willie Fritz is a really good coach.
- 42:08They get Connor Wigman back. Houston might potentially make
- 42:11that breakthrough moment. So that might be tough.
- 42:14Then they host Sam Houston, not worried.
- 42:16They go to Colorado. Colorado's a big time question
- 42:19mark. You know, it's Deion Sanders on
- 42:20the hot seat. I think that's the case.
- 42:23What do they look like at the quarterback situation?
- 42:25What does their offensive line look like having lost Seaton to
- 42:28LSU, one of their star left tackles?
- 42:32Now, I know they got a lot of wider Cedar help, so the offense
- 42:34should be better. But the one thing that was
- 42:38really bad was their defense and their defense didn't get much
- 42:41better even through the portal and through recruiting and
- 42:44whatnot. So there, there's a big time
- 42:45question with that. Then they host Arizona State.
- 42:48They have to go to Cincinnati, they host Arizona.
- 42:52Arizona. If, if you can see it on here on
- 42:54the graphic, I have them as a team that could sneak in.
- 42:57Maybe they end up sneaking into the Big 12 championship game.
- 43:00Who knows? That might be a little bit of a
- 43:03trout. But luckily for Texas Tech, they
- 43:05get to host them, then they host West Virginia shouldn't be bad.
- 43:09Oklahoma State again, they could be a dark horse.
- 43:11We don't know how Oklahoma State's going to think, you
- 43:13know, tune out. I think Oklahoma State's going
- 43:16to be fun to watch. I hope they're fun to watch just
- 43:19because of how how the, you know, how the North Texas
- 43:23quarterback and how all that whole North Texas team was.
- 43:25And now they're basically become Oklahoma State.
- 43:28I'm excited to see how that ultimately pans out.
- 43:30Then they go to Baylor and then they host TCU.
- 43:33So Texas Tech fairly easy schedule should be able to walk
- 43:36through it pretty well. Again, I would say probably your
- 43:40two hardest games would be Houston and Arizona.
- 43:44So I mean it could potentially finish the season 12 and O
- 43:49pretty much safe and secure. All you have to do at that point
- 43:51is I I would say win the Big 12. I think if you can make it to 12
- 43:55and OI think even if you lose the Big 12, they would still put
- 43:58Texas Tech in because more than likely if it's against someone
- 44:02like BYU and BYU has a couple of decent teams on here that they
- 44:06face, could be a different story.
- 44:10Speaking of for BYU, because we'll round out the Big 12 for
- 44:13the winning the conference. So BYU, they face Utah Tech,
- 44:19they host Arizona, they go to Colorado State, then they go to
- 44:22TCU, they host Iowa State. Iowa State should be an absolute
- 44:26dumpster fire post Matt Campbell, post Roccobecht.
- 44:30Don't think it's going to don't think it's going to be a good
- 44:32time for Ames in in Iowa State. But the big one though, they
- 44:36host Notre Dame. That's going to be the biggest
- 44:39test for BYU probably majority of the season is just that.
- 44:43Then they go to UCF, they host Arizona State, but then the Holy
- 44:47War, they have to, they have to travel to Salt Lake City to face
- 44:50Utah. That could be a big one.
- 44:53I think Utah, I think a lot of people are riding Utah because
- 44:57Kyle Whittingham isn't there. But the new coach, that's all
- 45:00he's ever been. He's only ever been in Utah's
- 45:02system. He's been there for a long time.
- 45:05It might look a little bit different, but a lot of it's
- 45:07going to be the same. He still has Devin, Dan Pierre,
- 45:09the quarterback from last year who was fantastic.
- 45:11It's going to be another year in the system.
- 45:14And again, it's really, it's a rivalry game.
- 45:15Anything is possible. And again, it's on the road and
- 45:19Utah's not an easy place to play.
- 45:21Then they host Baylor. They have to go to Kansas, who
- 45:25Kansas, I believe upset them with their first year in the Big
- 45:2812. So that might be a little bit of
- 45:30a little bit of a struggle as well.
- 45:32And then they finish the you're hosting Cincinnati.
- 45:35So BYU might ultimately end up finishing, I would say it worst
- 45:40ten and two and maybe one of those they're like, you know,
- 45:47maybe they're like 10 and one in the Big 12, maybe 9:00 and 2:00.
- 45:51But I still think that's good enough to be able to get you or
- 45:57I can't I can't math ignore that.
- 45:59Nonetheless, I think they're going to be good enough to be
- 46:02able to get into the Big 12 championship to potentially face
- 46:05Texas Tech nonetheless, no matter how much the the rest of
- 46:08the regular season goes. But again, if they win, I think
- 46:10they get in. If they don't, I think they're
- 46:12going to be outside looking in now for the ACC side.
- 46:17Louisville, I think Louisville has the best chance.
- 46:20I know a lot of people still have Miami more than likely
- 46:25winning the ACC and they and they still might, but I, I think
- 46:30it, it's potentially between Miami and then either SMU or
- 46:35Louisville. I think if they get to that
- 46:37point, depending on how good they are and how good they can
- 46:40do in the schedule, you know they they might be able to sneak
- 46:44another ACC team in there. For Louisville, I think they're
- 46:47going to have the best potential possibility for two reasons.
- 46:51One, they host old miss to start the season.
- 46:54So if they get a win, they get a win over a quality team that's
- 46:57ranked to start the season. It's another Power Four team and
- 47:00depending on how well old miss does, that could work out in
- 47:03Louisville's favor. The other thing, they go head to
- 47:06head with SMU and they don't have to face Miami.
- 47:09So if they're able to win against SMU, that should all
- 47:13but, you know, basically lock them into doing it.
- 47:16Barring anything crazy, barring any upsets, barring any major
- 47:20injuries that would derail their season, it should happen.
- 47:23So Louisville wholesale Miss, they host Villanova, they host
- 47:27SMU and they host Wake Forest. So same thing.
- 47:29They don't even leave home until October.
- 47:32And again, the two hardest SMU in all this.
- 47:35If you could walk out of that, maybe one and one even, and
- 47:39you'll start start conference play.
- 47:41Truthfully with NC State, I know SMU is totally a conference
- 47:45game, but if you can really start only conference play after
- 47:49that at three O 1, I think you're in a pretty good spot.
- 47:53Then they go to NC State, they host Florida State, they go to
- 47:56Syracuse, they host Stanford, they go to Georgia Tech, to
- 48:00North Carolina, they host Pitt. Then of course they travel to
- 48:03Kentucky to face the Wildcats. So I think Louisville probably
- 48:07has the better shot compared to SMU.
- 48:11To me, SMU little bit of a more difficult schedule, nothing too
- 48:17crazy. Now SM us biggest issue though,
- 48:21is they only have truly one power team that they face that
- 48:27would hold any type of merit if they get a win and they have to
- 48:30go to it at the almost end of November and that's Notre Dame.
- 48:35I don't know if SMU comes out of that now.
- 48:38Other than that, they have a fairly easy schedule.
- 48:41I mean, they, it could be one of those weird tie breaking
- 48:44scenarios where you know, it's like, man, do does SMU get in or
- 48:48not? They go to Florida State now
- 48:51it's the very first game of the season.
- 48:53Who knows how that ends up panning out.
- 48:55Florida State obviously got the big upset win against Alabama
- 48:58and ultimately ended up being really bad, but anything is
- 49:01really possible with that. Then they host UC Davis,
- 49:04obviously they go to Louisville, they host Missouri State, they
- 49:07host Boston College, they host Virginia and they host Cal.
- 49:11They don't leave Texas again until right on Halloween.
- 49:17They go to Syracuse, but that's an adult, so they don't really
- 49:19have to worry too much. Then they host Virginia Tech,
- 49:22they host Wake Forest. So they don't really have to
- 49:25deal with any of the cold weather.
- 49:28I mean, obviously Dallas gets cold, but I mean, they don't
- 49:33really have to deal with it too badly until they face Notre
- 49:37Dame. So they end the year, have to go
- 49:39to the under Dame and then go to Stanford.
- 49:41It's possible they end up, you know, maybe 11 and one, maybe
- 49:45even 10 and two. Now, does that get him in the
- 49:50playoffs? I don't know.
- 49:51Compared to some of these other teams, it may, it may not
- 49:53ultimately ends up coming down to strength of schedule, who you
- 49:56played, who you beat, and then whoever you played and beat, who
- 50:00do they play and beat? And if you beat them and they
- 50:03beat somebody, then your resume is built up a little bit more,
- 50:06but maybe not. And then of course, the last
- 50:08three that I think could potentially sneak in, I don't
- 50:11have a whole lot of faith. Obviously Arizona, I think they
- 50:16have to get to the Big 12 championship to even remotely
- 50:18sneak in. And even then they have to win
- 50:21it. Now the unfortunate part for
- 50:23here's what I'm saying for Arizona, they do have a tough
- 50:26schedule as far as the Big 12 standard goes.
- 50:30They host Northern Arizona, not worried about that.
- 50:32But then they have to immediately turn around and go
- 50:33to BYU. Not an easy place to play in
- 50:35Provo. They host Northern Illinois,
- 50:38then they have to go up north to Washington State.
- 50:40Not necessarily tough, not the end of the world, but again, not
- 50:43easy. Old PAC 12 rivalry.
- 50:45They host Cincinnati, then they have to go to West Virginia,
- 50:48they host Iowa State. Should be an easy win, but then
- 50:51they have to go to Texas Tech. So already right there, the two
- 50:54big guys that were the Big 12, you know, appeared in the Big 12
- 50:58championship last year in BYU and Texas Tech.
- 51:00You have to face both and you have to face them on the road.
- 51:03Not going to be an easy time. I don't know if they come out of
- 51:07that with at least one win. I think they lose both of those
- 51:10games. Then they host TCU, then they
- 51:13they host Utah, which is a benefit.
- 51:15But I think Utah's still going to be a tough team that they
- 51:17have to deal with. I think they come out of it nine
- 51:20and three truthfully, because then they go to Kansas State and
- 51:23then they host Arizona State. Who knows how Arizona State's
- 51:26going to look. Kansas State kind of hit and
- 51:28miss. They have a new head coach.
- 51:31Overall though, I think they could sneak in.
- 51:34Maybe they get a couple upset wins here.
- 51:36But with having to face basically the two powerhouse
- 51:39teams of the Big 12 as it stands right now on paper and how they
- 51:43how they were last year, not off to a good start.
- 51:47Now the utes the utes have a fairly easy schedule and could
- 51:52potentially make that make an appearance in the Big 12
- 51:55championship game and they could even go undefeated.
- 51:59Realistically they could. They host Idaho, then they host
- 52:04Arkansas. Don't know how that's going to
- 52:06end up Arkansas now post tail in green, but they have, I don't
- 52:13remember his name. They have a new coat.
- 52:15Oh Summerfield, Silverfield. Silverfield.
- 52:19They get him from Group of 6 school who did really, really
- 52:22well. So who knows how that ultimately
- 52:25ends up looking. But Utah has the advantage of
- 52:27continuity. They have a coach that knows the
- 52:29knows the system, knows the team really well.
- 52:31Again, they're bringing their starting quarterback back.
- 52:33So I think Utah has a little bit of an advantage.
- 52:36Then they host Utah State, they go to Iowa State, they host
- 52:39Kansas, they go to Colorado. Houston might be a little bit of
- 52:42a tough outing for them, but again, they host Houston.
- 52:45So again, they have the least home field advantage potentially
- 52:47in that. Then they go to Cincinnati.
- 52:49Then, of course, the Holy War against BYU, maybe they lose
- 52:53that, but then they go to Arizona, they go to TCU and then
- 52:56host West Virginia. So I think it's very possible
- 52:59Utah has a really good season and they maybe come out of this
- 53:02with one loss, I think to BYU. Now again, Houston, a little bit
- 53:06of a toss up. Maybe Houston has a better
- 53:09season than what I'm probably projecting them to.
- 53:11But I think Utah could realistically sneak in there.
- 53:15Joy. I appreciate you watching.
- 53:17Joy. I'm happy that you that you're
- 53:19in here. Even though I'm coming up close
- 53:20to the end, I'm still happy you were able to join me though,
- 53:22Joy. And then of course, the team
- 53:25that I probably disliked the most in Alabama and I say could
- 53:30sneak in because the committee was gung ho said about bringing
- 53:35them in last year. Sure enough, they did.
- 53:36They lose the SEC championship in embarrassing fashion. 3 lost
- 53:41team and the committee's like man, we need Alabama football in
- 53:45there now. They did get a win against
- 53:47Oklahoma. So I, it's one of those, it's
- 53:49like, man, I really, I hate that they were able to get the win
- 53:52against Oklahoma. Now luckily they were
- 53:55embarrassed by IU after, but it's so frustrating.
- 53:59It is so frustrating that they let them in with three losses
- 54:03cause 'cause any other team that doesn't have that stupid a
- 54:07they're, they're, they're not letting them in with three
- 54:09losses unless it's just a really rough college football season.
- 54:13And like all the top teams have like 2 losses just 'cause
- 54:16everybody's trading blows with each other.
- 54:18There is absolutely no way in the world any other team other
- 54:21than Alabama has three losses and they would let them in.
- 54:24There's just no way. But Alabama has a a fairly easy
- 54:30schedule. I would say it's nothing too
- 54:33crazy. It's kind of the typical Alabama
- 54:35schedule. They host East Carolina, they go
- 54:38to Kentucky, and then they host Florida State.
- 54:40That's going to be a revenge game for them for sure,
- 54:44especially without last year played out.
- 54:46They host South Carolina, shouldn't be a worry.
- 54:49Then they go to Mississippi State, not worried, they host
- 54:51Georgia. They've been Georgia's biggest
- 54:53bully. Georgia could be the biggest,
- 54:56baddest juggernaut. And for whatever reason,
- 54:57Alabama's like, yeah, we'll take care of it, don't worry.
- 55:00That's one of the few times Alabama looks like Alabama
- 55:03against Georgia. Then they go to Tennessee.
- 55:07Tennessee's kind of split the series with them now.
- 55:09They dominated Tennessee last year, but this is on the road.
- 55:12Tennessee has a couple wins against them, especially being
- 55:15in Nealon Stadium, so it's possible.
- 55:17Then of course, they host Texas A&M.
- 55:19That's going to be a real test and really good game.
- 55:22Then of course, they go to LSU. How that's going to end up, I
- 55:25have no idea. Being a Tigers fan, he could go
- 55:27one way or the other, to be honest with you.
- 55:30Then they go to Vandy. Then they host Chattanooga and
- 55:33then of course the Iron Bowl to end the season hosting Auburn.
- 55:37So that is who I have as far as national title contenders.
- 55:42Playoff likelis win your conference and you're in and
- 55:46could potentially sneak in the playoffs.
- 55:48Again, if you're watching this, you know, please comment, Please
- 55:52let me know what you think. Who do you have winning?
- 55:54Who do you not have winning? Who do you have in?
- 55:56Did I miss somebody? Did I potentially get somebody
- 55:59wrong and was looking at their schedule as far as, oh, I think
- 56:02this team's gonna potentially, you know, do this and maybe they
- 56:05won't. Maybe they do, maybe they don't.
- 56:07Nonetheless, though, appreciate everybody tuning in.
