All right, everybody. Everybody. Full Spectrum Cycling. This is show number 320. 320. Sam D returns- 320... to the studio. Almost 420. It's a Minnesotan area code, I do believe. Oh, all right.
• 0:31
And March 20th was the birthday of Lee Scratch Perry. There you go. That's important to know. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. See? Okay. Did my homework. Yeah, you did. All right, now I'll check out. Later, guys.
• 0:43
[laughs] Now you killed it, and that's it. Uh, yeah. Oh. Mic drop. So Sam's here, and then, uh, Tony Berger, surprise guest this evening. Gotta fix a bike. Gotta fix a... Well. Gotta, not fix a bike.
• 0:57
Gotta, gotta, gotta- Make sure the kid can ride the bike... uh, it- it's, like, the 50-mile checkup. Right. There's nothing wrong with the bike. No, but- It's actually a blast...
• 1:04
so look, there's the tool you need right there. Is it this one? Yeah. Or is it this one? No, I just, I should've got them from the same place, 'cause it drives me nuts that one- This is weird...
• 1:14
that one's a half-inch drive. It's almost like you need a- Why would you use a half-inch-... if there was one more of them Torque, baby... well, yeah, I get the idea, but three- I mean, three aces...
• 1:21
three-eighths drive, that should be able to take 60 Newton meters pretty easily. Newton meters? We're talking pound-feet. Newton meters. You don't do- This is 'Merica...
• 1:31
foot, we don't do foot-pounds on no dang- Bicycles... bicycles. Everything's in Newton meters. Fair enough. Fair enough. Including every tool I have.
• 1:40
Although, they do have foot-pound, pound-feet, pounded feet on them if you so desire, but my brain doesn't calculate the- No, you just-... you know, the difference be- or the, the equality between the two, so.
• 1:51
Of the tool. You know the pieces fit- There's, there's-... you watch that... tools. Speaking of tools, uh- Na-na... you're a tool. [laughs] Na-na. Pa-pa. Na-na. Da-da, da-da-da- Na-na... da-da. All right, Maynard. Yeah.
• 2:05
Hey. [laughs] Uh, slow roll. Who slow rolled? No, we haven't done that yet. No. That's next week. Not yet. That's in the future, baby. We're, we're doing that this weekend, right? Couple weekends.
• 2:13
Couple of weekends from now, September 13th, is the slow roll. Is it? Yeah. It's the Chris- Oh, yeah, yeah... the Chris slow roll?
• 2:20
Yeah, but it doesn't have his name particularly attached to it anymore b- being that he's deceased and all. Oh, I thought that's why it started. It's just- Well, it started... now called the slow roll. Yeah. Fair.
• 2:29
It was Chris's slow roll- Chris D's... while he was still around. It's implied. Okay. It's implied. I mean- Yeah. It's one-...
• 2:34
it's like- You can only call it Chris's for so long before it's just synonymous with- Slow roll... slow roll. Got it. Like Slow House, new season coming up.
• 2:43
It's one of those- It's one of those- If you're into slow horses, there's a new season coming. Well, yeah. I'm not. It is a slow roll. Oh, God. It's so good.
• 2:49
And I, I always am wary of a slow roll, because that's where the wobble goes. [laughs] Mm-hmm. And I don't un- I don't... More accidents- And, and then-... tend to happen on those. Yeah.
• 2:59
You know, [laughs] you wanna see, you don't wanna know how I got my scars? Normally at slow speeds. Yeah. [laughs] That's where the tip over comes from.
• 3:08
But, uh, no, they, from what I remember, at least in the last time I did it, it does a li- little bit of the, uh, oak leaf and, yeah, with that many people, man, ooh. Yeah. Yeah.
• 3:20
As, uh, you're, you're kind of, uh- Mm-hmm. I mean, in the olden days, you could not- I'm probably out... use the oak leaf for an organized event. Right. And I- There was a big deal about that. Yeah. Yeah.
• 3:29
And I'm sure it's still there. Well, I mean, like when those assholes Dan and, and Joe pass us, like, on Sunday. Yeah. Yeah. And don't even call it out, so you have to pass them on your electric bike. Yeah.
• 3:39
That was hilarious. There was some, some jerk- Oh, there was some, yeah... trying to go, like, 30 miles an hour- Slowly... on the trail on his time trial bike. Yeah.
• 3:45
It's like- I, I told you all, I told the back- Tony and I are behind him going, "Err"... I told you in the back of- Like, on you...
• 3:49
I told you at, I told the back of this whole pack that I was, uh, kinda passing on the left. Mm-hmm. Oh, then I was a dick. And you were going, "Oh, yeah." Well, this was Tour de Towner day. Yeah. Yes, yes.
• 3:57
That's, as we- And, you know, with a, with-... it shoot off... f- with 15 people spread out, it, it's not a big deal to use the oak leaf. Not going fast either, but- And not going fast- Yeah... for sure. Um.
• 4:07
By the way, speaking of that, um, I saw a totally new side of Lloyd when that dude went, like, totally unconscious at- [laughs]... Uptowner. Oh, yeah. And Lloyd changed into Paramedic Lloyd.
• 4:19
Yeah, he's superhero guy- And-... when he does the EMT stuff... that was, I- Unfurled. Whoop... I was like, wow. Yeah. This man really jumps into action when he needs to. Good on him. Yeah.
• 4:29
He's been training for that for years and years and years. Yeah. Wow. And, uh, yeah, uh, definitely right place, right time. I think the guy lived. Because, yeah- Yeah...
• 4:38
when the paramedics came, he knew what to tell them. He's been doing this, he's been doing that, and, and, and- Knows what to say- Yeah... and get out of, like- Yeah... "You guys do it. It's hers. This is all the info."
• 4:48
Yeah. Well, he's- "Bl-bl-bl-bl-bl"... that's, that's professional courtesy right there. Yeah. It was good. [clears throat] Not as good as those brats. Those brats were very good. Oh, Steven. I wish I was there. Oh.
• 4:58
Steven, that man can- Esteban Nuevo All right. Well done. I don't know that Esteban actually did the cooking. I think n- he had a guy doing it. Did he? Yeah. It looked like the person from Trax, actually. Mm-mm. No? No.
• 5:11
No. It was, uh, I think Chrissy. Okay. Whose- Yeah... birthday it is today, actually. Happy birthday, Chrissy. Happy birthday, Mr. President. Happy birthday to you. Chrissy. [growls] Chrissy.
• 5:25
So I rode my, my newly re-electrified long tail on that Tour de Towner just to sh- give it a shake down ride. And it is- That thing is fast... it's great. Ooh. It's fast.
• 5:37
[laughs] And I then r- I rode it again Monday, another 20 plus miles, and it, [laughs] it's great except that something happened to the shifter, and I was like, "I don't know. It was working and now it's not working."
• 5:51
And I think I figured out that part of the little rubber cover for where you put the cable in- Got sucked in... well, I think it, I, I had changed the cable. Mm.
• 6:02
So I probably manhandled it or something and broke off a little nubby and it got caught- Just enough... in the, in the mechanism, so now I gotta take it apart and f- I tried to fish it out with a little,
• 6:12
with a little pick, but I couldn't quite get it, so. Now you need a little string with a little baby magnet. Yeah. I also- It's magnets. It's all magnets Except I need a rubber magnet. Sure. Also, yeah. Do it.
• 6:22
Which would be cool. Which, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some- somebody should invent one of those... that's a new invention. That's a new invention.
• 6:27
I, uh, made the mistake working on my longtail car- cargo bike that I also rode on Tour de Towner, and I zip tied over the shifter cable. Oh, nice.
• 6:37
So then I went to shift the bike and it didn't shift, and I'm like, "What's going on here?" Uh-oh. Well, I fucked up my shifter. [laughs] Oh, no. So now I gotta get... I have to replace that. I think it's too far gone.
• 6:47
I did something... Um, and plus it's a cheap ass nine-speed Shimano shifter. Oh. Well, I d- And I had some-... I don't think my shifter's totally screwed. I think it's more just get the little...
• 6:57
It's like having something in your teeth when you're like... Yeah. Yeah. Get that out of there. I, I can shift mine too, it just hates me. You don't have a full length cable on that, then? No.
• 7:07
That's what made me suspicious that it had to be in the shifter, because it's a full housing from the front all the way to the back. So- Yeah... all I did was I had to put in the shift interrupter, which is kinda weird.
• 7:19
It works, it works, but it, it does give you a little ooh. Yeah. I agree. Yeah. We're talking about Befangmidrive, folks. Yeah, this is also- Befang... ele- electric bike talk here on, uh, the Full Spectrum Cycling Show.
• 7:30
Here in the nery. I, I will say changing to the... And, and this goes to you because you're the first bike I saw with it, although much fancier, uh, mechanically actuated hydraulic disc brake, big fan now. Oh, yeah.
• 7:44
It's, it's- You have those TRPs on something... he has the TRPs on one of his bikes. They... It's on my Redline, uh- Oh, your Cross? Whatever that thing is. It's a- It's my Monster Cross... it's not a Monocoque.
• 7:53
What is it? No, it's a Monster Cross. It's a bigger guy. Yeah. It's a, it's a R- yeah. It's... That's kind of a neat setup. Yeah. I like, it's kind of the best of both worlds. That thing can rock.
• 8:03
Well, it- But, but I will say that braking system is just fantastic. Ah. It had- I mean-... Jim, Jim Huber, the man- Yeah... was the man that recommended that, and let me tell you [laughs]... It's cool...
• 8:16
not every single one of Jim's recommendations has been the best. [laughs] Not been- But I, I'd-... they're not all spot on... I would say n- you know, 90, 90%- But every one functional... 90% hit...
• 8:25
every one functional... yeah. Every one functional. The- If not rep- repairable. Right... functional at first and then repairable later. Yeah, that's what I always love that- Exactly.
• 8:32
[laughs] It's like, w- well, when Jim builds a bike and it leaves the shop, it works perfectly. Then when it needs maintenance, well, I'm not sure. Now we had to look at- But he will know... how he did that.
• 8:41
[laughs] Yeah, that... Exactly. Yeah. Right. Yeah, yeah. I, I'll have a- I- It's not anywhere close now, so...
• 8:46
I- I have a Huber build that it's like, you know, if somebody tried to steal it- I bet he doesn't even listen to this show... they, they wouldn't even- Tell us if you hear... know- Hi, Jim...
• 8:53
how to fix that part or that part. I mean, it's a single speed. It's total bar beater. I mean, like, even to steal the wheel set, you really have to- That's Molly's old bike, right? [laughs] Yeah.
• 9:03
You have to crank the- Yeah. [laughs] Like, you- The purple people eater? Oh, yeah. Yeah. You gotta just, like, oh, the fork. Oh, to get the frame separated far enough? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh, right.
• 9:12
I mean, it's just pinced on there. Yeah, they're just- Oh... it's like a 130 frame with a 135 hub or- Yeah, well, every-... 120 frame with a 130... yeah, everything- It's something silly...
• 9:19
everything is just taut and like- You get really excited when it falls out. You're like, "Yes." And oh, yeah, and, and how the chain, it just keeps, like, sagging at times. Yeah.
• 9:27
[laughs] You just gotta give it a little yank or whatever. [laughs] And it just gives, like, a strongman Sam a, like, anxiety attack every time he see it.
• 9:33
He's like, "Dude, your thing is, is- He, he was riding an electric bike too... it's, it's super, it's sagging. Yeah, on the- It's sagging. Like- He's seeing it... like, r- r- I don't think this is really, like, safe.
• 9:43
And I'm like, "Oh, it's perfect." [laughs] It was like on the Tour de Towner, it was like, uh- [laughs]... the, it was totally like the, uh,
• 9:49
the Tom Cruise movie thing where they do the jet thing, where they're doing the thing and you're like [whooshing] and then you're like, "Dude, dude." That, that Sam. They buzzed it. Oh, yeah. Yeah. Buzzed him.
• 9:58
Buzzed the tour. That's what- What was that show? He's literally coming right- Top Gun. That's what I'm talking about... yeah. He's literally coming right at us. Yeah.
• 10:02
No, I thought you were thinking R- Risky Business with the- [laughs] No... love on a subway train- I'm thinking, why wasn't the upside down Von Oreus?... listening to Tangerine Dream or something.
• 10:10
The, the fir- the funniest thing I saw is I noticed his helmet first. I'm like, "Oh, that's a nutcase." And I'm like, "Look, oh, that's Sam." Oh. I wonder- That is Sam...
• 10:17
so I found a nutcase visor on the ride, and it's not yours. Oh, you better check to see if it's Sam's. No, mine's on my- Oh, it could be mine... mine's right there. Oh, are you... Do you have a nutbag helmet as well?
• 10:25
Yeah, he did. He- Yeah... did you lose yours? I don't know. Well- But we'll find out when we g- get back down south... yeah, I found one somewhere, so I picked it up just 'cause I'm sure it's one of us. One of us.
• 10:34
And it wasn't mine. [laughs] It probably is mine 'cause I- That one's cool. That's a good one... it, I know mine has fallen out since I- Yeah... tried putting it in, like, three weeks ago.
• 10:42
They're, I mean- I'm just, like, jammy jammy. I'm like, eh, you know? Right. They will stay in there. Whatever. I look, yes, I look very equestrian. [laughs] Look at me. And, and they are kinda handy, I think.
• 10:50
[laughs] And, and they- Oh, I love mine... and they stay in fine unless you bash your helmet around all the time- Right... and then they fall out of there. Yeah. I might Super- And that's where I'm at...
• 10:57
hey, superglue that shit in there maybe. Definitely old helmets. Well, I don't know what superglue does to MIPS, uh- Yeah... foam. Surgu. Just use Surgu. Some kind of stuff. Something will hold it in there.
• 11:08
You just gotta try. Yeah, and then... I don't, I don't wanna have to buy a new helmet. Yeah, especially 'cause they don't make nutcases anymore. Yeah. They should make nutbags now. [laughs] Hammocks for your ball sack?
• 11:18
They used to have a bag company called Douchebags, and they- I remember Douchebags... they're still around, only they're called DB now. [laughs] Kinda like you can't say- What you doing over there, Michael?
• 11:28
You can't say Pussy Riot on 80, on 91.7. [laughs] P Riot. I'm like, "Fuck that, Sid. Call it Pussy Riot." She was kind of off the rails today a little bit. You can say pussycat. Is pussy really a bad word? Apparently.
• 11:39
You can't say Pussy Riot. Sometimes. Come on. She opens her show with Make America Great Again, which is a phenomenal song. Yeah, I hear you. What about, uh, cats? Can't you just call them...
• 11:48
Isn't it about- I call my cat a pussycat... isn't it about a meow, meow, meow? I've never considered calling Simba a pussy. Well, I mean, Von Munns has the aversion to call the Butthole Surfers Butthole.
• 11:59
They just call them The Surfers. Yeah. Yeah. The B- you know, B-holes or- Exactly... I didn't think he's gone that far. Exactly.
• 12:04
[laughs] But, I mean, other ones have said Butthole Surfers, and I'm like, "It, it's the name of the fucking band." No. "Just call them-" I'm gonna say Butthole Surfers.
• 12:10
And it's like- They wanted it that way, and I'm gonna say it that way. But- Yeah. Right... Chris Treater says Butthole Surfers. I mean, it's a hilarious- So were you guys listening to Sid today? Parts of it.
• 12:19
I- She, she had a song on that said, "Fuck" deliberately right in the middle of the song. And she didn't cut it? I think I heard that. She kinda- Tried?... sorta- Like the-...
• 12:26
turned it down after [laughs] it- Yeah, the beep after... after the fact Like she's on the seven-second delay, like... Er. Yeah. But it was still, God, totally in there. No, she was...
• 12:33
I, I went to, uh, the Local Live at, uh- And whatever... at, uh, Milwaukee State... last night. Who cares? Oh, that had to be outstanding. Hallelujah Ward is very good. There, I tried- Oh, yeah... to get Molly to go.
• 12:43
Mark Wal- Mark Waldock- Oh, so good... he's a good friend of mine too. Yeah. He's just a good- I really love him, and- Well, when you see him, you tell him I love him- I saw him-... and I've never met him...
• 12:50
I saw him in the line at the Neil Young show. I saw him front row center at Nick Cave and the Bad Seed show. Yeah. He'll be- Like many times... It was, he was like, was like...
• 13:01
And I mean, going to that show was like going to a day in a revival tent. Right. And he was just like, "Ah." Yeah. You know, like- Wait, what'd you just do there? Oh. Oh. I got to the top of the hill.
• 13:10
It, it just happened. Nick Cave and Mark Waldock. Nick Cave and Wal- Wal- Mark Waldock- Wal- um-... have deemed it top of the hill time. First day with the new chief. Yeah. No shit, dude. Second day of...
• 13:24
Second first day of the semester at- Yeah... the fair university, so yeah, I'm a little scrambled. Students were asking me where rooms were. I'm like- Oh, they're...
• 13:32
Oh, dude, out of nowhere I'm just walking outside having a smoke, and people are asking me shit. I'm like, "Do I look like I... I guess I do."
• 13:40
Someone had just opened the door to the second floor of Bolton and said, "Can you tell me where B-25 is?" I'm like, "B is basement, so why don't you go down two floors?" [laughs] Might be on that, just look for 25.
• 13:51
Mm-hmm. No. It's cute. I mean, these are freshmen. They're panicking. No, it's not fucking cute. I've done this for- Dude, it's cute... over 20 goddamn years- I know... and it ain't fucking cute.
• 13:59
I am like, I- Even if the person asking is cute? Nope. Nope, nope, nope, nope, nope. No, I got like half tripped walking out of an elevator, so I have to... That's another one. Here you- 50% of our show- Here-...
• 14:11
is employed by UWM today. Exactly. And yeah, and overtaking the- [laughs]... 90% of the time probably of our bitchering. [laughs] This is what you do- That's fine... at the bar after the, after the work day. Oh, Christ.
• 14:23
[laughs] Well, I mean, it's like, okay- After? No. They have lunch beers. A one-credit class- I've had them. This is what's common sense. [laughs] You wait until people leave the elevator before you enter the elevator.
• 14:34
That's all you need to know. These are foreigners. They're from like- No, they're not... Omro. No, these are- It doesn't work that way in Europe either... no, no, no, no. Foreign to this- Yeah, no... what? Building?
• 14:41
It always works. Y'all wait. Oh. Let people out- And then you go in... before you go in. Yeah. It doesn't matter whether it's an elevator or a bar or a- This could be people who've never been in an elevator...
• 14:48
grocery store- They're from Omro... or the post office. It does not matter if it's- I know... anything. If it's your car, let the people out before people go in. Yes. It's just a common sense. That's- Doesn't take a lot.
• 14:58
No. A lot of people don't have common sense in rocket science. Is this going up? Okay. [laughs] Look for the three big lights- At least 50% of the people don't... that sit there with the arrows going up or, uh, down.
• 15:05
[laughs] And then, okay? Yes. And then figure it out before you try walking on, then walking off again, and then walking back on because blah, blah, blah.
• 15:14
And then if you're going up, you can't hit the down, like, button. That's- It, it just won't happen. You have to go all the way to the top and then you go down to- It's an extended diatribe via Michael's jaws today. Ah.
• 15:24
I, I- Is there a beach ride this weekend? Please. Thank you. You just need, I needed- There is... I needed to really get that blah off my chest. [laughs] All right.
• 15:30
Yes, there is, and it's gonna be a cleansing goddamn thing. Are you staying up there? I think so. I think I'm staying. I'm planning on it. I have to, uh- Are you gonna get the suite?
• 15:39
I have to lend Kate a bike, but I said, "You gotta get yourself up there, 'cause I'm not driving you up 'cause I'm staying up there." Where's it at? Port Washington. Oh, and it's Saturday night? Saturday night.
• 15:49
We'll be leaving from the American Legion Post/Park Bandshell area, which I- I know exactly where that is... brought to you by Sierra Nevada, a hazy little IPA.
• 15:59
[laughs] Uh, probably meet up there around 7:38, roll out 8:30. Uh, the moon should be fairly well up by then, 'cause today it rises at 5:30, so it should already be into the sky.
• 16:10
It's supposed to be clear, which if it's up there and clear equals- Gorgeous... no lights. Yeah, it'll look like the Death Star, uh- It's gonna be the-... from Ro- Rogue One. Yeah. Yeah. It'll be the best.
• 16:18
Ooh, it's coming at you. I don't know if my sack will fit in my car. Can, can you make it, Sam? Can you make it? I'm in. Sam's in. I'm in. I- You got room for me? In the car? Sure. Absolutely.
• 16:25
That would actually be a good idea because- I'll roll by and pick you up. That, that would be the best. I'm in. Yeah. That would be good. I will do that, 'cause I won't go to Polka Riot then 'cause Polka Riot's cool.
• 16:33
Polka Riot- Oh, it would be, would be cool. You might, you might notice the- Polka, polka, polka... jacuzzi. Polka Riot is this weekend if you happen to be in town- Yeah... and not on the beach ride.
• 16:42
Polka Riot's at Linneman's this year, which is- Indoors... actually right down the street. Which is interesting too, because if I'm, if I- Milwaukee Polka Riot...
• 16:50
what I, what I noticed also was November Criminals are playing earlier in the afternoon. I think- Oh, yeah? Is that why the time differential? Whoa. What's, what time are they playing?
• 17:01
And they're playing in, like, somewhere central Wisconsin-ish. Oh, they're... Okay. Or in the Shitty Bar or something like that. Right. So they're playing earlier in the day, but not at Linneman's. Correct.
• 17:10
I would like if they played at, like, 5:00 at Linneman's. And then- Yeah, I'd go... I would definitely go there and then go do the beach ride, but- Yep, yep, yep, yep... not happening. But no.
• 17:17
This is the- I feel, I feel, I feel-... this is the year where, oh, everybody wants the November Criminals, and da, da, da, so. I feel like clo- We'll get them next year...
• 17:24
I feel like closing Schooners [laughs] gets- It's like Octoberfest got- Yeah, that was a brilliant... Oh, Jesus, that was brilliant... did you guys close that bar? Yeah. Well, relatively.
• 17:32
Yeah, and then we, and then we wandered around the building into the, into the waiting camper van and- Yeah. It's not a camper van. You have a minivan that you sleep in when you're drunk. It's a camper van. Yeah.
• 17:44
I, my... It is so comfortable in there with my- It's a great van... badass, my... I have a, a, a 30x80 NEMO pad, which is super awesome. It's already in the van.
• 17:54
It's already ready to go for next weekend [laughs] or this weekend. Uh- Oh, so I have a place to sleep too. Yeah. No, you're giving me a ride home. Oh, yeah. No.
• 18:03
[laughs] Last time I was trusty, and thank God for that big truck of his because- Yeah. Oh-... oh, was it pissing rain. Oh. Yeah. That, that was the, that was the 100-year, 1,000-year flood day. I got a new nickname.
• 18:15
Well, what about that... You guys were out that night that it got crazy. Yeah. But it didn't- I got my new nickname. It didn't affect y'all at all. No. Oh, it sure the fuck did. Sort of. Oh, it did? Tony...
• 18:25
That's where Tony the Turtle got his new nickname. 100... Oh. Oh, I went down hard. In Sucker, Sucker Creek. Oh, wait. Let's show the camera. I just got new brews, and I'm sure it's still coming. You ready? Oh.
• 18:33
Is it, does it involve your pinardo? Oh, no. Is that where that's handlebar hit you? Ouchie. Uh-huh. Yeah. That puppy hurts. Yes, handlebar hit. You have a unique belly button, don't you?
• 18:43
Yeah, Molly gives me shit about it all the time. Bad doctor. [laughs] Used to store, used to store lint. Bad? It looks real clean. Everybody's belly button stores lint. I don't, I don't store lint anymore. Yeah, it's...
• 18:52
I was storing lint. Well, do you have a hernia down there or what do you got? I, no, no. I'm gonna find out, I guess. If it's smiley face, that's a hernia, I think.
• 18:59
Oh, is that what the real, the real- So it pops the top out or pops the bottom out. I don't know. My dad had one of those for a long time. I have, want the balloon?
• 19:05
[laughs] We're all showing belly buttons all of a sudden? I ain't- Come on, show the balloon... I ain't showing no belly button. Sam? The little balloon? I have- The little tied balloon?
• 19:12
I had an umbilical hernia at one time. Well, you can't even see it. Oh, yeah. Look at that. I don't know if you can see it, the... I don't know. Well, it's kind of hard to see around the tattoos- But yeah...
• 19:18
but it looks like your tattoo's talking to me. Blblblblb. [laughs] But I certainly have- Not showing no belly button to no damn video camera...
• 19:24
but I actually, two years ago I did have the other hernia, the laparos- or I didn't do the laparoscopy, I did the classic. And I'm glad. Worked out perfect. I had a great surgeon. That's why it worked out perfect.
• 19:35
[laughs] Amazing. Right. I got me an urgeon for a urgeon sturgeon. Some of the... Apparently some of the- Or surgeon, either way... the newer surgeons don't even know how to do the original style of it.
• 19:44
Yeah, 'cause they've been trained to do nothing but laparoscopic, right? And the two people I know that- Of hyena... have had laparoscopic have had- I, I mow lawn and do things for our grandfather-...
• 19:53
pain and weird feelings afterwards... so his hyena does not get aggravated. So I'm happy. [laughs] It was seamless. Nice. Hernia. Healed so great. Hernia. Wait. Someone rang the bell and then we didn't discuss the bell.
• 20:03
That's what I was gonna get onto. Oh, yeah. Let's discuss the bell. Oh, yeah. Discuss. Uh, I grabbed a thing of, uh, Third Space Heavenly Haze. And you can't go wrong. I like Third Space is a good brewery.
• 20:12
It's actually pretty damn good. They, they're... It's very drinkable. Um, Falcon Bowl has that normally. On tap? No. Oh. Uh, in cans, but you know- Oh, I forgot...
• 20:21
between, like, uh, what's on board and what you can see in the cooler, I normally see this, and it's kind of a distinctive color scheme. You can drink it out real quick. And I'm like, "Oh, wait. I know that's good."
• 20:31
Yeah. And it, it drinks pretty nice. Uh, I don't know, what is it? Six... Whoa, it's 6.2. I thought it was less than that, but all right. Huh. Falcon Bowl. There's something coming up at Falcon Bowl- Many things...
• 20:42
on, on November 2nd which looked extremely interesting. Oh, yeah. Something heavy. The- Very-... Brothers of Nihil or something like that... yeah, yeah, yeah. Whoa... yeah. Or Birds, Birds of Nihil.
• 20:52
Yeah, it, which is co-, uh, promoted by X-Ray Arcade. Oh, interesting. Right. It, it- Oh, and, uh- Uh-... Rivers of Nile Rivers of Nile. And, and I, it's- And I'm doing a-... Nile... Nile. X-Ray is just destroying.
• 21:06
Uh, they are just absolute- Yeah, they've had some killer shows...
• 21:09
killing it in this town because it, that, dude, they- Somebody has to go to the S-word with the P-word and the just after it Don't do the Hank and the shank and the pissy, pissy tank. [laughs] Don't get me started.
• 21:22

• 21:33
So when i- uh, Bay- And it really has to be something I wanna see bad. When, when's Bayview Bash coming? Because there's a really- 20th... there's a really good lineup here. Combuster- Ah, can you find it?...
• 21:42
Poison Hand, Astral Hand. Ah. Boris the Sprinkler. Oh. Oh, yeah. Like last year. Blah, blah, blah, blah, blah. Last year Boris the Sprinkler played, right? Well, no, that's what I'm saying. Oh, I gotta see that.
• 21:50
It's good. Watch out, because I think, I think some- I loved it. I liked it... I think some of those- Bayviewbash.org... I never had. I never had until last year. I think some of the links- I really loved it... may be-
• 22:00
Oh, yeah. They're good... yep, I knew that... not right. Bayview Bash. And they've been around forever. Because Abby Jean- Forever... is supposed to be- Like 30-plus years, yeah...
• 22:07
headlining Rushmore, but if you go to what is headlining, it's Astral Hand. Yeah, Astral Hand at 9:30 Rushmore. Good for them, but I don't think that's the case. I think it is Abby Jean.
• 22:19
Well, that's- That's why I think that link is broken from last year. Oh, no. So it's going to last year. Oh, no. Oh, yes. That's why, I was about to say, I'm like, I'm not really getting- Who, who bought it?...
• 22:27
I'm not really getting good info. Well, here's the deal. I mean, between- It's still gonna be a good time... the Milwaukee Record and Milwaukee- Yeah, absolutely. Regardless...
• 22:34
their own damn website, a lot of- Even though Molly will say, "Fuck Bayview," and I, I'm there with her, but I won't go to that. I don't know why you would say that. It's where River Westerners go to retire. And die.
• 22:45
In Bayview. And die. No, they move then to New Ber- I guess that's exactly what I did... New Berlin. Uh, New Berlin. Did you ever live in River West? Oh, yeah. Oh, I didn't know that. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
• 22:53
I had two d- I lived at two different places in River West. And- For about a five-year period. And Sam brought some Imperial Geezer. That's a heavy hitter right there.
• 23:04
A heavy hitter from- It's a heavy hitter and- Well, it's not that heavier than a foggy. It's only 9%. I mean... [laughs] But I know it doesn't taste heavier, but it is heavier. I know.
• 23:13
I don't know, like a gilded- The War, the War Pigs, it's my favorite, uh, beer can, the all-black War Pigs, uh- Yeah. And you know what? Hail Ozzy. Yep. What a fricking legend. Yeah.
• 23:26
Did you hear Jack, uh, Jack Osbourne getting into it with, uh, Roger Waters? With Jack. Yeah. Yeah, 'cause he should have. Can you believe that? Yeah. My dad always said you were a pussy. [laughs] No, did he say cunt?
• 23:36
Yes, but- He said cunt... you can say- My dad said you were a cunt... wait, you can say that- And I agree... you can say that in Burtonville. Yeah. No, I love Jack, but- You can say that in English land-...
• 23:43
I thought that was pretty hard... but you don't say it here in the United States 'merica. We don't use that word here. We do not use the C word often. Oh, yes, we do. Well, we use it- We do... when it's appropriate.
• 23:50
It would- Especially for British cunts. [laughs] It has- Oh, wait... it kind of was the word- It has weight... that got me put in jail, I will say that. [laughs] All right. So let's just put it that way.
• 23:59
It's not the word you wanna use sometimes. Not dropping the C word all the time. Well, not, not around female- If you wanna, you wanna drop the C word in the most-... officers of the law... appropriate times-
• 24:08
It does, yeah... if there is an appropriate time, I felt like it was an appropriate time. Right. They did not, obviously. I can't believe we're talking... [laughs] They did not... I can't believe we're talking about it.
• 24:19
So these are- But they did not believe... these are, this is a game-changing organ snack. Yeah. Bison heart crisps. I thought you were talking Oregon. Never given- Like the state.
• 24:29
[laughs] And then I was like, "Oh, no, organ." Organ. Like heart. It's the heart organ. Yes. Grass-fed beef. Yeah. Never given any- So-... antibiotics, steroids, hormone, GMOs.
• 24:38
It's near pesticide overspray, but not necessarily on. So- One time I was at- So that's a- Camino... looks like bacon. Yeah. And- In the shape of a heart... they had, Camino had- Like it was a vegetable peanut...
• 24:52
their spicy Polish. Yeah. And I said to the guy, I'm like, "Dude." And I'm like, "My dad was a butcher and a sausage maker, and this is one of the best spicy Polishes I've ever had." He's like- Really?
• 25:03
He's like, "Well, since your dad was a butcher, I can probably tell you what's in it, right?" And I'm like, "Sure." He's like- You're gonna spill the tea [laughs]... "Beef heart."
• 25:10
He's like, "It's almost completely- What?... beef heart." I'm like- Wow... "That explains everything." I'm like, "No fat." Like incredibly rich. Now, this is very- Like-... very lean, crispy...
• 25:21
everything about it, I'm like- I love it... "Oh, this is so good." I, I knew you guys would love it. That's why I said- Yeah, it's delicious... "I'm bringing it." It's got a- Dude...
• 25:27
it's got a mild bacony taste, a little salt, but definitely, yeah. On my way back from the Dells, uh, made my way to Held's. $60. I didn't, I forgot to bring- Wow, that's a, that's an easy exit.
• 25:43
Well, it was even less until I just impulse bought at the register. Oh, I impulse buy be- And it was just like-... it cost me 300 bucks... it was like, oh, oh, yeah, I know.
• 25:51
I was like, I'm like, "Dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun, dun." Oh, I love Held's. Uh, I got a pound of bacon. Uh, a thing, and I didn't bring it. Sorry. I'm sorry.
• 25:58
I'm sorry I didn't bring the hot Jamaican- Oh, that's a good one... I'm sorry. So- That's a good one. Yeah. I mean, it wa- I mean, it was, you know, s- suggested sell area. Like right there. I'm like- Yeah, yeah...
• 26:10
"Oh, and one more of these." Yeah. You know? And then I- I'll have this eight ounce bag. It's called monkey shopping. Oh, my Lord. By my mom.
• 26:16
[laughs] So you, you go in there for one thing, and then you're like, "Oh, I could have that and that and that."
• 26:20
And you- Well, no, this one dude- You weren't planning on it, and you end up spending four times more than- All of a sudden... you planned. I got like a, a hearty wheel of smoked Gouda for like three fucking dollars.
• 26:28
Ooh. I mean, it was really cheap. And he, and I was like, "Okay." Gouda is your good cheese. Yeah. Oh, yeah. I like Gouda cheese. And as I'm looking at that going like, "Okay, uh, maybe mismarked. I don't care.
• 26:39
I, I'll take the win on this one." 'Cause it- [laughs] Last time in the Dells- Really?... they had like this discount place or discount bin, and it was all of this like five-year-old cheddar- Ooh... for like- Chedda...
• 26:52
I don't know. It was like four bucks a pound. I mean, I- Oh... I bought all of it. Oh. I'm just like, boom, boom, boom. Hello. Hello. Thank you. Yeah, it's- And they're like, "Mm." I'm all about cheddar.
• 27:01
That's really- It only gets better as it sits for another couple of years. But this guy- But it won't... this guy, as I'm like looking at the cheese, goes, like he had a plan. He knew what he was grabbing.
• 27:12
And some of the, uh, cold packed cheese spread, he went down there and grabbed three of them. Mm-mm. And then like this. Mm-hmm. And then I'm like- Not the-... "Wow, he really knew what he wanted." Not the grated one.
• 27:24
And I look, and there's two left. And I'm like, "What is that?" And it was eight, eight-year-old cheddar. Ooh. Ooh. It's a spread? Yeah. And then right next to it, they had a four-year-old. Oh.
• 27:34
And I'm like, you know, there's, I mean, I mean, I know there's a difference, but sometimes there's not that much of a difference. Little sharp tanginess.
• 27:41
And I was like, "Eh, for a couple-" Did it have the little crystals? For, for a couple, for a couple extra bucks, I'm gonna just go with the big- Yeah... the big hit here. Did it have the crystals?
• 27:47
I'm not gonna chince on this one. That's exactly what I would do. Did it have the crystals? I mean, 'cause I've had, I've bought the 20-year-old cheddar, and that's awesome. Ah.
• 27:55
But, you know, I can still get the same kind of funk vibe out of four-year-old. But I haven't tried it yet. Right. So that was my 60- So-... dollar tor- story...
• 28:05
I don't, I don't know if they make cheese in Iowa, but I'm pretty sure they must. Why can't they? There's gotta be at least one or two cows there. I would imagine. So there's an event- They have a state fair...
• 28:14
there's an event on October 18th in Osage, which if you're in the area, which I don't know why you would be, it's the middle of nowhere. So you gotta go there. On what then? The 20th of September? Did you say?
• 28:24
No, the, uh, 18th of October. Oh, close enough. This is Fatoberfest in Osage, which is sort of- Oh... sort of fat bike oriented or yeah. Their trails- Adventures?... are super fun. Limestone Brewery is there.
• 28:39
We've been there a few times, and it's a great time to go Friday, Saturday, camp, blah, blah, blah. Ride your bike, hang out with some cool people. Between Decorah and Mason City- Mm... in Iowa. I would go there.
• 28:53
I m- I may actually go there. It's- I al- I keep hearing-... over a month away... I've never gone to Decorah. Oh, dude. How far is Decorah from La Crosse? I went to school in La Crosse, and it's about that far.
• 29:03
I would say it's a little over an hour, hour and- Okay... 20 maybe. It's not that far from La Crosse. I feel like I need to make a trip to Decorah- It's like down and to the left...
• 29:11
for some mountain biking sometime, one of these days. From, from here- Yeah... from here it's- It's to the left... from here it's under four hours. Okay.
• 29:17
Oh, especially with all the, uh, going around Mineral Point and this and that and sh- My political hilariousness right now is the current people wanting to kill solar,
• 29:30
and Iowa being a huge right-wing storage location, yet has unbelievable amounts of solar. For what? What do you mean storage location? Republican storage. Like it's kinda- Oh, they store Republicans there?
• 29:43
[laughs] They got a bunch of right-wingers that live there. But yeah- Don't worry about that when you go out to- They like have the lowest energy. They pay the lowest amount for energy use.
• 29:50
They have the largest- Oh, boy... solar arrays, the largest windmill farms, and yet they're Republicans and Trump's like, "Fuck you." Yeah, but don't worry about that around Decorah. Whoa, whoa, whoa, whoa.
• 29:59
That's about as lefty as you can get. Good. In the middle of Iowa, it is a bastion of liberalism. Shit floats upstream everywhere. The oasis- Thanks, thanks to Luther College, which is- Right... right in Decorah.
• 30:10
That's awesome. Um, and you got a lot of- Like the, like the Martin Luther? And like, am I going- I think he's-... ding, ding, and put my manifesto there?
• 30:18
[laughs] I think you have more, uh, pottery hippies per square mile- I bring smoothies... in Decorah than anywhere else in the country. Really? I didn't real- Oh, yeah... I had no idea. So it's like- Oh, yeah...
• 30:27
Iowa's Madison, basically. It is very- It's, it's Texas' Austin... similar. Only, I think, I don't know what Luther has. I like that. Luther may have 8,000 to 10,000. It's not 100,000 campus. But it's a very good school.
• 30:42
Nice. And it's Lutheran, so- I was confirmed Lutheran... theoretically they would be rightist. I was confirmed Lutheran Ah, there it is Anyone else? Ah.
• 30:50
I married Catholic- I got out of getting conf-, believe it or not, confirmed when I discovered chicks. That was about the last day- I married a Lutheran... I went to church. Same here.
• 30:58
[laughs] I, I maybe went to church three times after that day. Yeah. Well, my kids- Let's just put it that way... were both baptized Lutheran- Yeah... 'cause, 'cause Wendy's Lutheran. Yeah.
• 31:06
And they haven't went- My kids are baptized... I don't think- Unless my mom did it when I wasn't looking... they haven't, neither one of them has been to church, I think, since...
• 31:12
Except for maybe Christmas, 'cause Wendy makes them go- Nice... uh, since they were 18, so they've made their decisions too.
• 31:18
[singing] I have done so much better at shrinking that shit out of my head. I was an untouched altar boy. I was too, for years. As far as- I was-...
• 31:36
I know I was, but I may-... an adult alike is what they called it... I may be blocking memories, because I was an altar boy. A much lesser- Catholic altar boy? Yeah... altar boy. Me too.
• 31:44
I, I just, I just put out the, I lit the candles- I got a mouth flask for it though... and I put them out at the end. That's it. And then I s- but I did sit up by the pastor- Yeah... for the whole service.
• 31:52
And ring the bells at times. My, my, uh, since we're digressing on everything- So there was, there was a little bit of altar boy-ish- Well, I was just ringing the, the-... but it's not, I think altar-...
• 32:00
I was ring- not that bell, the, the, the- Oh, the altar boy bell. The, the- Oh... the incest bell. My- Oh. [laughs] My favorite altar boy story- Let's harmonize it...
• 32:08
and I've told it at least once on this podcast- And we sing everything, and then we end it like this...
• 32:14
I was- Everything has to be a little bit sing-songy, and we gotta get all the words into the things like for our Lord... I did a, I have to do the- Fucking-... the blue hair mass...
• 32:24
flames are gonna come through the ceiling. You know? Right. Oh, shit. Lightning. Bring it on. I had to do the blue hair mass at 7:00 AM. Ah. And I did it before grade school, and we had a blizzard, and my...
• 32:34
I like- DQ'd?... hiked to the church, and I couldn't get in, and I got the door open like this far. I mean, I'm like tiny. And I'm like looking in. [laughs] I can see the priest.
• 32:48
I got my hand in the door, and he doesn't acknowledge me. I'm like, "You know what? I'm m- making the executive decision at eight years old to walk back home." [laughs] And I get home, and my mom's like, "What happened?"
• 33:00
I'm like, "The doors won't open for me, Mom." [laughs] And she still, I recall- Should've been like... I think she still gave me shit. [laughs] I'm like, "You know, I tried. I walked all the way to church.
• 33:12
You know, it was a block." Both, it was uphill both ways. It probably was. I went back home. Only had my socks on my feet. Right. I didn't have boots on. That's like poor Handsome Bob. Some dog bit me on the way back.
• 33:23
Poor Handsome Bob, every time he breaks something big, it's always he like slips and falls in front of, uh, the church. The church? Well, that's a sign. That's because they're trying to- He shouldn't be a vegan...
• 33:32
smite him. I know. I'm just like, "Dude, you gotta change your flight plan at times, man." Yeah, smite that man. [laughs] It's like, no, he keeps getting smited outside like Saint Cashmere. [laughs] Don't do that, man.
• 33:42
Since we're talking, we're talking sad stuff, I gotta just bring it down on a sad note. Oh. Uh, the bike shop at Southport Rigging in Kenosha has closed. To know where? Another one bites the dust. Oh.
• 33:56
It was a, it was a pretty decent shop. There was basically Total Cyclery and the bike shop at Southport Rigging, which was also a sailboat-based shop.
• 34:05
But they did a really good job, and f- after I think 40 years of being around, eh. Oh. It's just another one of those things, the bike industry. I don't know. Watch, watch some YouTube stuff.
• 34:19
You'll see everybody with the doom and gloom, but it, it's not without merit. Is the Bike Farmer still around?
• 34:24
He's, I th- I don't know if it's clickbait because he's kind of a clickbaity guy, but he has been talking about talk me out of selling my bike shop, 'cause he's doing really well with the YouTube thing. Yeah.
• 34:35
I mean, he's doing really well with the YouTube thing. Okay, good. Like the bike shop- Making money... the only reason to have the bike shop, I think at this point, is to have fodder for the show. Sure. Mm.
• 34:46
I mean, and his- It's legit... I like what he does. He takes basically older u- probably rarely used bikes and- Refurbishes it... tunes it up, refurbishes it. They, they look good. Sells them for, for three, 400 bucks.
• 34:59
Give somebody a bike that's gonna be great for what they need it for. And, uh, but he, uh, his last one is talk me out of selling my bike shop or something like that. And, you know, I mean, to be fa- uh,
• 35:13
bike shops are a good way to lose money. Like, as, as, as- Like auto racing... as the old adage goes, uh, you become a millionaire in a, in the bike shop in the- If you have $2... start with, start with two.
• 35:26
Try a skateboard shop. Oh. It's the same thing. Penske. Oh. Penske said there's gotta be a lot of money in racing- Not even close... because I've lost it all. Yeah, for sure. Okay. A little phased though.
• 35:35
Well, he made it doing something else. Hey, in happier news, four minutes ago Nashville Pussy announced that they're making a run. [laughs] Are they coming to Milwaukee? Uh, they're coming to Wisconsin.
• 35:45
Oh, they're good live. They're coming to Ringel, Wisconsin. The fuck is Ringel? That's by Warsaw up there. Is it by Warsaw? I think it's by Warsaw. Is that W-R-I-N-G-L? W-A-U-S-E-A- Is that how you spell it?
• 35:56
W-A-U-S-E- Warsaw. Warsaw. Ringel? Ringel. Ring- yeah, Ringel. Ringel. W-R-N-G- Like Wrinkle, but Ringel? No, R-I-N-G-E-L, like Sun Ringlé. Like Sun Ringlé. Okay. That's right up there by Warsaw. Warsaw. It's by Warsaw.
• 36:10
It's probably the same bowling alley that Yngwie Malmsteen played at. QZ, Route QZ. [laughs] 10 miles east of Warsaw. There you go. Guy knows his state, bro. Yeah. Oh man, they got some weird... Wow, there we go.
• 36:27
Oh, [laughs] Fuck Cherry for God's sakes. Oh, geez. Oh no, I'm not doing that. Oh. Oh. I can... 38 bucks at, in advance, 43. No, no, no. Oh. No, no, no, no, no.
• 36:36
Plus you gotta go up there and stay and ride Nine Mile both days. Oh. Or actually there's- Oh, there's Nine Mile I was excited for a second. No, now it's ending on a bad note. No, no, no, no. I thought it was going...
• 36:46
At Gnome Fest. You were there. No, I was at Gnome Fest for Nine Mile. I've not been there since then. Me either.
• 36:49
There's, there's- I've driven past it probably- 13 times at the very least There's a very good trail system right in Ringle. Ringlay. Ringlay. However they say it- Ringle...
• 36:58
'cause I would say Ringlay if it were the REM, but... Yes, there's a very good trail, mountain bike trails system right there. Speaking of, uh- Trails?... Noel Fest, which I- Noel Fest...
• 37:09
don't know any, anymore what's going on, but there is the, uh, what do they call it up there? Fall- The fall, the Free Fall Fest up at, uh, Levis. Levis. When is this?
• 37:18
Is that in- That is coming up at some point in the future. I think- No, they don't have a date? Uh, I probably put it on here somewhere. I- Yes.
• 37:24
I have not been to Levis for just a few years It's a Friday It's September 19, 2021. Free Fall Fest, Levis Mounds, Wisconsin. I think I'm going to see Willie that night. Oh. Bob Dylan, Willie, Outlaw Fest. Ooh. Oh, shit.
• 37:37
You're going to see Willie Porter? Willie Nelson. [laughs] What an ass. I may see Willie Porter if that's- It's always fun seeing Willie Porter. Might have not. I don't... No, I'm...
• 37:46
Sorry, but I don't know who that is, but if you'd be into it, I probably would too. He's a Milwaukee legend. Yeah. Oh, is that right? Whitefish Bay. Is that right? He's a big proponent for, um, humane society.
• 37:59
White Folks Bay? You see that ad with, uh, McElhenry and the other dude when they have the, the glasses and the, and the, and the- Go to make some cash... like, they have, like, the, the fur on Yeah.
• 38:12
And the- Thrift store? And he's doing this, this one dude that's like- I just love Willie-... he's tapping his ring like that... so much I'm just like, that's fucking- Oh... classic Willie. Hell yeah. I love him so much.
• 38:20
