- 1:14Speaker 2: gun smoke.
- 1:15Speaker 3: © BF-WATCH TV 2021.
- 1:33Speaker 2: Gunsmoke, starring William Conrad. The story of the violence that
- 1:38Speaker 2: moved west with young America.
- 1:40Speaker 4: And the story of a man who moved with it.
- 1:42Speaker 5: I'm that man. Matt Dillon, the United States Marshal. The
- 1:47Speaker 5: first man they look for and the last they want
- 1:49Speaker 5: to meet.
- 1:50Speaker 4: It's a chancy job. And it makes a man watchful.
- 1:55Speaker 6: And a little lonely.
- 2:19Speaker 7: It's going to make you sick.
- 2:23Speaker 4: Now you're going out.
- 2:26Speaker 8: Doggone it, doggone it.
- 2:28Speaker 4: Look, Mr.
- 2:28Speaker 8: Dillon, there's times a man just don't use his head
- 2:31Speaker 8: for nothing except to hang his hat on.
- 2:33Speaker 6: What are you talking about, Chester?
- 2:35Speaker 8: I know better than to keep on playing, but I
- 2:37Speaker 8: went right ahead and done it anyhow.
- 2:39Speaker 6: Oh, the poker game last night, huh? Forget it. Forget it?
- 2:43Speaker 8: Mr. Dillon, I lost $ 9. 45 in that game. You'll live.
- 2:46Speaker 4: Yes.
- 2:49Speaker 8: Yes, I'll live, all right, but I'm sure going to
- 2:51Speaker 8: be eating mighty low on the hog for the rest
- 2:53Speaker 8: of this week.
- 2:54Speaker 6: Wait a minute, Chester.
- 2:55Speaker 8: What's the matter? Well, now, what's the matter with her?
- 2:59Speaker 8: Flying down that boardwalk like the devil himself was chasing her.
- 3:03Speaker 9: Yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 8: Well, that's Sally Bogan, Mr. Dillon.
- 3:05Speaker 4: Yeah, I know. Sally.
- 3:08Speaker 8: Looks like she's scared of something right now.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Hey, Sally, wait a minute.
- 3:14Speaker 5: It's too hot a day to be hurrying like.
- 3:15Speaker 6: That, isn't it?
- 3:18Speaker 8: I guess it is.
- 3:19Speaker 6: What's the trouble, Sally?
- 3:20Speaker 4: Why were you running?
- 3:22Speaker 8: I don't know.
- 3:23Speaker 6: Something scare you?
- 3:25Speaker 10: Somebody I just saw.
- 3:27Speaker 8: Man.
- 3:29Speaker 10: Forget it, Marshall.
- 3:30Speaker 8: I'm all right now.
- 3:31Speaker 4: Well, who was he? What did he do to you?
- 3:34Speaker 9: Nothing.
- 3:34Speaker 8: I just didn't want him to see me.
- 3:37Speaker 4: Why? Who was he?
- 3:39Speaker 8: My husband.
- 3:40Speaker 11: Ben?
- 3:41Speaker 8: No, not Ben. The other one.
- 3:44Speaker 4: Forevermore, the other one?
- 3:47Speaker 8: The first one. Nobody knows about it. Not even Ben.
- 3:51Speaker 4: What's this all about, Sally?
- 3:52Speaker 5: Oh, I was 17 in San Francisco.
- 3:55Speaker 8: He was second mate on a clipper. And about four
- 3:58Speaker 8: years ago, it went down in a typhoon, and he.
- 4:02Speaker 10: He's dead, Marshall.
- 4:04Speaker 9: He's got to be dead.
- 4:05Speaker 8: Or else I'm not really married to Ben.
- 4:07Speaker 4: You should have told Ben about it.
- 4:08Speaker 9: I know, I know, but I didn't.
- 4:11Speaker 8: And now it's too late.
- 4:14Speaker 9: It wasn't him.
- 4:15Speaker 10: It couldn't have been him.
- 4:16Speaker 8: Just somebody that looked like him, maybe.
- 4:20Speaker 4: That's possible.
- 4:21Speaker 12: If he wasn't drowned, he'd have come back before this.
- 4:23Speaker 12: It's been four years.
- 4:25Speaker 8: My gracious alive, no man wouldn't stay away from my
- 4:28Speaker 8: pretty little.
- 4:30Speaker 7: It's been a long time, Miss Allie. You're prettier than ever.
- 4:34Speaker 8: Oh, Jeff.
- 4:35Speaker 4: Jeff?
- 4:38Speaker 7: Why'd you run when you saw me up the street there?
- 4:40Speaker 10: Well, I wasn't sure.
- 4:44Speaker 3: No, it can't be.
- 4:45Speaker 9: It just can't be.
- 4:47Speaker 7: No.
- 4:48Speaker 4: Hey, what's the matter? No.
- 4:50Speaker 8: Don't touch me.
- 4:50Speaker 4: You better take it easy, mister.
- 4:51Speaker 6: She's kind of upset.
- 4:54Speaker 7: Who are you, miss?
- 4:54Speaker 4: My name's Dillon. Well, you just run along, Dillon.
- 4:56Speaker 12: He's the marshal here, Jeff.
- 4:58Speaker 13: We don't need no permission from the law. Jeff. Sally
- 5:01Speaker 13: and me are going to spend some time together and
- 5:03Speaker 13: maybe have a drink or two. It's going to be
- 5:06Speaker 13: just like old times now that I'm back.
- 5:09Speaker 4: No.
- 5:10Speaker 8: No.
- 5:10Speaker 6: You better tell him, Sally.
- 5:12Speaker 7: Tell me what?
- 5:14Speaker 8: Jeff, I'm married.
- 5:15Speaker 7: I ought to know better than anybody else that you're...
- 5:20Speaker 7: You don't mean to somebody else.
- 5:22Speaker 8: I thought you was dead.
- 5:24Speaker 12: The ship was sunk and you didn't come back.
- 5:26Speaker 8: I thought you was dead.
- 5:30Speaker 7: Well, you sure didn't waste no time hitching on to
- 5:32Speaker 7: somebody else.
- 5:32Speaker 6: She waited four years, mister.
- 5:34Speaker 5: That's a long time for a girl to try to
- 5:36Speaker 5: make out alone, don't you think?
- 5:38Speaker 7: What I think is my business, Marshal. Come on, Sally,
- 5:42Speaker 7: we're going to talk this over in private.
- 5:43Speaker 8: No, Jeff, I can't.
- 5:44Speaker 7: There's no way for a wife to act to her
- 5:46Speaker 7: lawful husband.
- 5:47Speaker 4: Come on, just a minute. Now, Sally, do you want
- 5:52Speaker 4: to go with him?
- 5:52Speaker 12: No.
- 5:54Speaker 3: No.
- 5:54Speaker 8: Marshal, I've got to tell Ben. We've got to decide
- 5:57Speaker 8: what to do.
- 5:58Speaker 6: All right, mister, you heard her.
- 5:59Speaker 7: You're aiming to come between a man and his wife.
- 6:01Speaker 5: You call it what you like, but you're not dragging
- 6:03Speaker 5: her off somewhere when she doesn't want to go.
- 6:05Speaker 7: Is that so?
- 6:06Speaker 4: Well, on board ship, Mr.
- 6:08Speaker 6: Marshall, when a fella butts in like this.
- 6:10Speaker 4: We just.
- 6:11Speaker 9: Jeff, no!
- 6:13Speaker 8: You better stand back now, mister.
- 6:14Speaker 3: Oh, make them stop!
- 6:16Speaker 8: That wouldn't be too easy, no?
- 6:17Speaker 3: Oh!
- 6:26Speaker 6: All right, find some water to throw on it, Chester.
- 6:28Speaker 13: Yes, sir, I will.
- 6:30Speaker 5: I'll take Sally over to Doc's. Maybe he can give
- 6:32Speaker 5: her something to calm her down.
- 6:33Speaker 8: Boy, how does he out cold in a Texas January.
- 6:37Speaker 6: Yeah, well, he may wish he'd stayed out when Ben
- 6:39Speaker 6: Bogan learns about this.
- 6:51Speaker 5: Another visit with Joe and Daphne Forsythe.
- 6:54Speaker 8: Ooh, ow, ouch, ooh.
- 6:57Speaker 7: What's wrong, Joe?
- 6:58Speaker 13: Daphne, have you been using my razor again? Just a little.
- 7:02Speaker 8: I was peeling peaches.
- 7:03Speaker 4: Oh, fine. Why didn't you change the blade?
- 7:06Speaker 13: It feels like you've been sharpening pencils with this thing.
- 7:09Speaker 12: Now, just a minute, buddy. It was you who said
- 7:13Speaker 12: we could use more economy around here. And I've been
- 7:15Speaker 12: saving wherever I can. And by shaving the skin off
- 7:18Speaker 12: the peaches.
- 7:19Speaker 8: But look at my face.
- 7:21Speaker 13: Think how the Red Cross could have used all this blood.
- 7:24Speaker 8: It's your own fault. You and your economy.
- 7:26Speaker 13: Well, being penny conscious isn't such a bad idea. Not
- 7:30Speaker 13: if you use common sense. Take savings bonds, for instance.
- 7:34Speaker 12: Uh-uh.
- 7:34Speaker 7: Here it comes.
- 7:35Speaker 4: Go right ahead and scoff.
- 7:37Speaker 13: But I got eight million Americans who agree with me.
- 7:40Speaker 13: We all buy savings bonds on a payroll saving plan
- 7:43Speaker 13: because we know that investing in bonds is the best
- 7:45Speaker 13: way to use our money.
- 7:47Speaker 12: We could use some of that money around here.
- 7:49Speaker 4: Well, maybe. Or maybe we just think we can't.
- 7:52Speaker 13: When we buy bonds, we guarantee we'll have the money
- 7:54Speaker 13: in the future, when we'll certainly.
- 7:56Speaker 6: Need them more.
- 7:57Speaker 12: Stop waving that razor. You're splattering me with soap.
- 8:00Speaker 13: Well, I don't mean to get excited, but who wouldn't?
- 8:03Speaker 13: Where else can a man make an investment that's guaranteed
- 8:05Speaker 13: to pay off $ 4 for every $ 3?
- 8:08Speaker 4: And guaranteed by the credit of the whole U.S. of A.
- 8:11Speaker 4: So there.
- 8:12Speaker 12: Bravo!
- 8:13Speaker 8: Bravo!
- 8:14Speaker 4: All right, all right.
- 8:15Speaker 7: Now let me change the blade and get back to shaving.
- 8:17Speaker 4: I think I'll stay and watch.
- 8:18Speaker 13: Why?
- 8:19Speaker 4: Because you're so cute when you cut yourself.
- 8:21Speaker 6: Oh, fine.
- 8:21Speaker 3: How is she, Doc?
- 8:38Speaker 8: Oh, she's all right, Matt. There's nothing wrong with her.
- 8:41Speaker 8: A good night's rest won't cure her. And one less husband,
- 8:45Speaker 8: of course.
- 8:46Speaker 4: You know, that's quite a situation. Yeah, it sure is.
- 8:50Speaker 4: And it's going to be worse, I'm afraid.
- 8:51Speaker 9: Why?
- 8:51Speaker 8: She didn't break any law. She had plenty of reason
- 8:54Speaker 8: to think her first husband was dead.
- 8:55Speaker 5: No, I mean the trouble is going to stir up
- 8:57Speaker 5: when Ben Bogan finds out.
- 9:00Speaker 8: She doesn't want to see Ben until tomorrow, Matt. She
- 9:02Speaker 8: wants to stay here in town tonight and try to
- 9:05Speaker 8: figure things out.
- 9:06Speaker 6: Well, that's a good idea.
- 9:07Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 9:08Speaker 6: She can get herself a room over at.
- 9:09Speaker 4: The Dodge house.
- 9:10Speaker 8: Wonder which one of those men she'll pick.
- 9:13Speaker 4: I don't know, Doc. I just hope she does it
- 9:16Speaker 4: quick before the two of them meet head on.
- 9:20Speaker 8: You know, Matt, if I was 20 years younger, I
- 9:22Speaker 8: might get into the fight myself.
- 9:25Speaker 6: An old goat like you.
- 9:27Speaker 4: Goat?
- 9:28Speaker 8: Oh, Matt. I'll have you know that a few short
- 9:31Speaker 8: years back when I was a mite slicker and spryer,
- 9:35Speaker 8: I was a holy terror with the ladies.
- 9:37Speaker 6: Yeah, I can't believe that.
- 9:39Speaker 8: Why, it wasn't until recently that I'd even accept a
- 9:41Speaker 8: woman patient. They'd always up and fall in love with me.
- 9:45Speaker 8: And a man just can't have it.
- 9:47Speaker 9: Doc, what's this I hear about my wife?
- 9:50Speaker 6: Uh, hello, Ben.
- 9:51Speaker 9: Oh, Marshal. Somebody said they've seen you bringing Sally up
- 9:54Speaker 9: here a while ago.
- 9:55Speaker 5: Well, uh, yeah, I guess they might have, but that.
- 9:59Speaker 9: Well, what's the matter with her?
- 10:00Speaker 8: There's nothing serious wrong with your wife, Bogan. She's a
- 10:02Speaker 8: little upset, that's all.
- 10:04Speaker 9: Well, what do you mean? What's she upset about?
- 10:06Speaker 8: Well, I don't think the technical terms would interest you.
- 10:09Speaker 9: Now, never mind the terms, Doc. What's she doing here?
- 10:11Speaker 9: What's wrong with her?
- 10:13Speaker 4: Well, um.
- 10:14Speaker 8: Maybe you could explain it better.
- 10:15Speaker 4: What's going on here, Marshal? Well, Ben, it's, uh.
- 10:21Speaker 4: Yeah, it's kind of like Doc said.
- 10:22Speaker 6: It's just.
- 10:23Speaker 8: Doc, I think I'd better go over to the Dodge house.
- 10:26Speaker 13: Ben.
- 10:27Speaker 9: Sally, now, what's this all about?
- 10:28Speaker 10: Haven't you told him, Marshal?
- 10:31Speaker 6: Well, I thought I'd better leave that to you, Sally.
- 10:33Speaker 8: Tell me what?
- 10:34Speaker 9: So help me if somebody don't say something.
- 10:36Speaker 4: Take it easy, Ben. Take it easy.
- 10:37Speaker 6: There's something wrong with my wife.
- 10:39Speaker 4: There ain't nobody. I'll say nothing, and you say take
- 10:40Speaker 4: it easy. Ben, it seems that Sally here was... Married
- 10:48Speaker 4: once before. Married? Yeah.
- 10:51Speaker 5: A man named Lightly, a sailor. Sally thought that he'd
- 10:54Speaker 5: been drowned at sea years.
- 10:56Speaker 4: Ago, but... Well, he turned up here in Dodge today.
- 11:01Speaker 4: He came looking for her. Sally, why didn't you tell me?
- 11:05Speaker 4: It was all over and done with.
- 11:08Speaker 11: I didn't think it mattered.
- 11:10Speaker 4: No, you didn't, huh? Well, you think it mattered if
- 11:12Speaker 4: I whipped you, son.
- 11:13Speaker 10: Ben.
- 11:13Speaker 5: Leave her alone, Ben.
- 11:14Speaker 4: You stay out of this, Marshal.
- 11:16Speaker 9: Go run that skunk out of town if you want
- 11:17Speaker 9: to do something useful before I get to him and
- 11:19Speaker 9: kill him.
- 11:19Speaker 6: Killing won't solve anything, Ben.
- 11:21Speaker 5: He's got as much right here as you have.
- 11:23Speaker 9: Has he got a right to come sneaking around my wife?
- 11:26Speaker 6: Could be she's his wife, Ben.
- 11:28Speaker 4: If it turns out he's still alive. Well, he won't
- 11:30Speaker 4: be alive long. And it's your fault, you little dachshund.
- 11:35Speaker 6: I said leave her alone.
- 11:36Speaker 9: I'll leave her alone as soon as I beat a
- 11:37Speaker 9: little sense into her.
- 11:39Speaker 4: No.
- 11:39Speaker 10: No, please.
- 11:41Speaker 1: All right.
- 11:42Speaker 3: All right, Doc.
- 11:49Speaker 6: He's all yours.
- 11:51Speaker 8: If I think that fellow's girl won't matter when he
- 11:53Speaker 8: come to, Mr.
- 11:54Speaker 9: Jones.
- 11:55Speaker 8: You're just stomping around. Well, what happened to him? He
- 11:59Speaker 8: stumbled into Matt's fist, Chester. My gracious, Mr. Dillon, you
- 12:04Speaker 8: sure are keeping busy today.
- 12:06Speaker 3: What are you going to do about.
- 12:08Speaker 4: It, man?
- 12:09Speaker 12: What you know, Kitty.
- 12:23Speaker 5: You know, if those two get together, somebody's going to
- 12:25Speaker 5: be killed.
- 12:26Speaker 8: Yeah.
- 12:27Speaker 4: I can't keep them apart forever.
- 12:29Speaker 12: No?
- 12:29Speaker 4: Yeah, if it was a drunken trail.
- 12:31Speaker 5: Driver with a six-gun on his hand, I could handle
- 12:34Speaker 5: it maybe, but.
- 12:36Speaker 4: I don't know. These man and wife mix-ups are.
- 12:39Speaker 10: Two men and a wife, Matt.
- 12:41Speaker 13: Yeah, yeah.
- 12:42Speaker 4: That's twice as bad. That's going to end up worse.
- 12:45Speaker 10: Well, I sort of figured Sally was heading for trouble.
- 12:49Speaker 8: Not quite like this.
- 12:51Speaker 10: Oh?
- 12:51Speaker 4: What do you mean?
- 12:53Speaker 10: Well, she doesn't belong in a place like Dodge City, Matt.
- 12:56Speaker 10: She's too restless, too free and easy. She spends too
- 13:01Speaker 10: much time in town.
- 13:03Speaker 4: Doing what?
- 13:06Speaker 10: I wouldn't have said anything if this hadn't come up.
- 13:09Speaker 6: Oh, come on, Kitty.
- 13:12Speaker 4: What are you getting at?
- 13:13Speaker 10: Do you know a whiskey drummer named Slim Randall?
- 13:18Speaker 4: Slim Randall? Yeah, I've seen him before.
- 13:20Speaker 10: Well, he and Sally have been together a lot the
- 13:23Speaker 10: last few weeks. It's harmless enough, I guess. Well, you
- 13:28Speaker 10: know how people talk and make something out of nothing.
- 13:31Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 13:32Speaker 6: All right, I'll change what I said.
- 13:37Speaker 4: It's three times as bad.
- 13:38Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 13:39Speaker 6: Or it will be if Ben hears about Slim Randall.
- 13:41Speaker 10: Matt?
- 13:42Speaker 4: Oh, Matt.
- 13:43Speaker 6: Yeah, what's the trouble?
- 13:44Speaker 9: I want you to tell us. I want to know
- 13:46Speaker 9: what you two have done with my wife.
- 13:47Speaker 8: I've been trying to tell you that she doesn't want
- 13:49Speaker 8: to see you tonight. She doesn't want to see anybody.
- 13:51Speaker 8: She's got to be left alone so she can kind
- 13:53Speaker 8: of get hold of her son.
- 13:54Speaker 6: There you are, Ben.
- 13:56Speaker 4: You heard what he said. You're lying, both of you.
- 13:59Speaker 9: You let her get together with that low-down sailor from
- 14:01Speaker 9: San Francisco.
- 14:04Speaker 4: That's right, mister.
- 14:06Speaker 7: Well, I've been looking for you.
- 14:09Speaker 4: Well, now you've found me.
- 14:11Speaker 7: My name is Lightly.
- 14:14Speaker 6: You dirty teen. All right, hold it, man.
- 14:16Speaker 7: No, no, Marshal, let him draw.
- 14:18Speaker 4: That's all I have.
- 14:18Speaker 8: Just let him draw.
- 14:19Speaker 5: I'll shoot the first man who touches his gun.
- 14:26Speaker 7: Mister, I want to know where my wife is.
- 14:30Speaker 5: She doesn't know any more about it than you do, Lightly.
- 14:32Speaker 5: If she wants you, she'll come looking for you.
- 14:34Speaker 13: She's got her locked up somewhere, so she would have.
- 14:36Speaker 4: You got no wife, mister.
- 14:38Speaker 8: You're a dead man.
- 14:40Speaker 9: And if you ain't yet, you're soon gonna be.
- 14:42Speaker 7: Oh, you like to name the time and the place, Bogan?
- 14:45Speaker 9: How about tomorrow morning?
- 14:47Speaker 4: I was hoping you'd make it sooner. I'll make it
- 14:50Speaker 4: right now.
- 14:50Speaker 6: All right, hold it!
- 14:52Speaker 4: All right, Leather, you've said your piece.
- 14:56Speaker 6: Now get out.
- 14:57Speaker 7: I'll see you all tomorrow.
- 15:04Speaker 4: Drinks are on me.
- 15:10Speaker 6: I'll kill him. I swear I'll kill him. Oh, calm down, Ben.
- 15:16Speaker 4: Go buy yourself a whiskey. Maybe I will.
- 15:21Speaker 8: Well, it sure can cause a lot of trouble, Matt.
- 15:24Speaker 8: A woman having.
- 15:25Speaker 4: One husband too many. Maybe she won't.
- 15:28Speaker 6: Have, Doc. Not for long, anyway.
- 15:50Speaker 5: Another visit with Joe and Daphne Forsythe.
- 15:54Speaker 4: Joe? Yeah, Daphne?
- 15:57Speaker 12: Look at this story about savings bonds in the paper.
- 16:00Speaker 4: Yeah, what about it?
- 16:02Speaker 12: Do you think that's the best way to tell people
- 16:04Speaker 12: about savings bonds?
- 16:05Speaker 4: Why not?
- 16:07Speaker 11: Look, see, it says here that savings bonds are a
- 16:09Speaker 11: guaranteed investment. Right now they pay off at the rate
- 16:13Speaker 11: of four bucks at maturity for every three bucks invested.
- 16:18Speaker 8: Uh-uh.
- 16:19Speaker 4: You're not convinced? Mm-mm.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Why not?
- 16:23Speaker 4: No salesmanship.
- 16:24Speaker 8: No salesmanship?
- 16:26Speaker 4: What more do you need to know? Why, right now,
- 16:29Speaker 4: more than 8.
- 16:30Speaker 11: Million Americans are buying saving bonds regularly through the payroll
- 16:34Speaker 11: savings plan.
- 16:35Speaker 4: So? So what? That's what I say.
- 16:39Speaker 8: So what?
- 16:40Speaker 11: Now, look, Daphne, if millions of Americans are convinced that
- 16:43Speaker 11: saving bonds are their best investment, not only financially, but
- 16:47Speaker 11: for the future of their country, what the heck is
- 16:50Speaker 11: bothering you?
- 16:51Speaker 12: Well, I think they could sell a lot more with salesmanship.
- 16:55Speaker 12: You know, slogans and jingles.
- 16:57Speaker 8: Listen.
- 16:58Speaker 12: If you're spending more and saving less, try a savings bond.
- 17:03Speaker 4: Oh, boy.
- 17:05Speaker 12: Or maybe a savings bond pay good, like an investment should.
- 17:10Speaker 4: Daphne.
- 17:11Speaker 12: You get a lot to like in a savings bond.
- 17:14Speaker 8: Interest, earnings guaranteed.
- 17:17Speaker 4: Wow. Well, did I sell you?
- 17:20Speaker 11: Yeah, but I forgot what it was you were selling.
- 17:23Speaker 12: Savings bond.
- 17:24Speaker 4: I'll take a hundred. Oh, Joe.
- 17:40Speaker 10: Oh.
- 17:45Speaker 4: Oh.
- 17:46Speaker 8: And you aiming.
- 17:47Speaker 6: Just to set there, Mr.
- 17:48Speaker 4: Dillon? Yeah, that's right, Chester.
- 17:51Speaker 8: Well, it's pert near time.
- 17:52Speaker 4: Yeah, I know that. Oh.
- 17:57Speaker 10: What?
- 18:00Speaker 8: Oh, for heaven's sakes, relax, Chester. You got me just
- 18:03Speaker 8: jumping as a cat. Well, ain't you gonna do nothing
- 18:06Speaker 8: to stop it, Mr. Dillon?
- 18:07Speaker 6: Not much I can do about.
- 18:08Speaker 4: It, Chester.
- 18:09Speaker 8: You can stop them.
- 18:10Speaker 4: No, just postpone it.
- 18:12Speaker 5: As long as they feel like they do, it's gonna
- 18:14Speaker 5: happen later today or tomorrow or sometime. I can't ride
- 18:18Speaker 5: a herd on them 24 hours a day.
- 18:21Speaker 8: Well, I don't know, but they must be something you
- 18:24Speaker 8: could do. Well, how about a game of pinochle, Chester?
- 18:27Speaker 4: A pinochle?
- 18:28Speaker 5: At a time like this?
- 18:30Speaker 6: Well, why not?
- 18:31Speaker 8: Why, I never heard nothing so cold-blooded in all my life.
- 18:34Speaker 4: Pinochle?
- 18:35Speaker 7: Well, I never thought of it that way.
- 18:37Speaker 8: You know what I mean, Doc Adams. No, I don't
- 18:39Speaker 8: want to play no pinochle. Well, how about you, man?
- 18:43Speaker 4: Yeah, sure, Doc. Get the cards.
- 18:46Speaker 8: Well, I swear I never seen the likes of you two.
- 18:50Speaker 6: Oh, stop worrying, Chester.
- 18:51Speaker 5: When it's time, I'm going to go down to the
- 18:53Speaker 5: stable and I'm going to try to stop them.
- 18:55Speaker 8: Well, I'm proud to hear that.
- 18:57Speaker 10: Matt?
- 18:59Speaker 8: Oh, thanks for having me here.
- 19:00Speaker 6: What's the matter, Kitty?
- 19:01Speaker 10: Matt, you've got to stop those two men from killing
- 19:03Speaker 10: each other.
- 19:05Speaker 6: You're as bad as Chester.
- 19:06Speaker 8: Here's a letter.
- 19:07Speaker 7: You read it?
- 19:07Speaker 8: Yeah, it's for you.
- 19:12Speaker 10: Jim Dobie came out and gave it to me a
- 19:13Speaker 10: few minutes ago when I passed the Dodge house. He
- 19:16Speaker 10: didn't have time to bring it over. I think I
- 19:18Speaker 10: know what it is.
- 19:19Speaker 4: I don't think.
- 19:23Speaker 6: I should have guessed it.
- 19:25Speaker 4: Oh, never mind, Chester. Come on, let's go. That's him, Mr.
- 19:41Speaker 8: Jones.
- 19:42Speaker 4: Right in the door of the stables.
- 19:43Speaker 8: That's him.
- 19:43Speaker 4: I see him.
- 19:45Speaker 8: Looks like he's just standing there waiting.
- 19:47Speaker 6: Well, he picked the best spot he could. Jeff Lightly
- 19:49Speaker 6: will have it.
- 19:50Speaker 4: To come at him across the open there.
- 19:52Speaker 8: I don't see Lightly around, no worries.
- 19:54Speaker 5: He's not far away.
- 19:55Speaker 4: You can bet on that.
- 19:58Speaker 6: You stay out of this, Marshal. Lock and settle up afterwards. Now,
- 20:04Speaker 6: watch your gun, Ben. Now, wait a minute.
- 20:06Speaker 4: I got no time to argue.
- 20:08Speaker 6: Just hand it over.
- 20:12Speaker 4: I mean it, Ben. All right. Thanks.
- 20:16Speaker 6: Well, it won't do no good.
- 20:17Speaker 9: I'll find him later is all.
- 20:18Speaker 4: I doubt it.
- 20:19Speaker 9: Quit hiding behind that marshal and come on out, Vulcan.
- 20:22Speaker 6: Now what have you done?
- 20:23Speaker 4: Set me up for him? Give me my gun.
- 20:25Speaker 13: Come on.
- 20:25Speaker 6: Get back inside, Ben, or you'll stay with him, Chester.
- 20:27Speaker 8: That's right. Come on now, Ben.
- 20:36Speaker 3: I don't recollect.
- 20:37Speaker 7: Giving you no invite to this party, Marshal.
- 20:39Speaker 6: I'll take that gun of yours, lightly.
- 20:42Speaker 4: Well, I ain't so sure about that. Now, you're pretty high-handed,
- 20:45Speaker 4: ain't you?
- 20:46Speaker 6: You're just lucky you didn't try to draw. Chester, bring
- 20:48Speaker 6: Ben out here.
- 20:49Speaker 13: Well, all you're doing, Marshal, is just putting it off
- 20:54Speaker 13: a while.
- 20:55Speaker 4: It'll just happen later is all.
- 20:56Speaker 6: It may be.
- 21:00Speaker 4: All right, both of you.
- 21:02Speaker 6: I want you to read this letter. It was handed
- 21:04Speaker 6: me a couple of minutes ago.
- 21:05Speaker 4: Go ahead. It's from Sally. Go ahead, read it.
- 21:13Speaker 9: Marshal Dillon, when you get this, I've left on the
- 21:17Speaker 9: train for back east.
- 21:18Speaker 4: Huh?
- 21:19Speaker 9: I'm going with Slim Randall. He's a fine fellow and
- 21:23Speaker 9: treats me good.
- 21:24Speaker 4: Not good.
- 21:25Speaker 6: Like Jeff and Ben.
- 21:27Speaker 9: You tell them for me I don't want they should
- 21:29Speaker 9: kill each other, but I don't never want to hear
- 21:32Speaker 9: them again.
- 21:32Speaker 7: Well, what do you think?
- 21:38Speaker 5: Fighting over a woman who doesn't want either one of you.
- 21:40Speaker 6: What?
- 21:41Speaker 9: Dirty little sneak. You know, come to think of it,
- 21:46Speaker 9: I was getting so I didn't trust her at all.
- 21:48Speaker 4: Oh, I never did.
- 21:50Speaker 7: That's why I wasn't in no hurry to find her.
- 21:53Speaker 8: Well, I'll be.
- 21:55Speaker 7: Here, now. Bogan, I'm going to buy you a drink.
- 21:59Speaker 9: And I'm proud to accept. And the second one's on me.
- 22:03Speaker 4: Hey, Marshal.
- 22:07Speaker 7: You know, I guess you got here just in time
- 22:10Speaker 7: to keep us from making a couple of fools of ourselves.
- 22:13Speaker 6: Not quite in time, boys.
- 22:15Speaker 9: What do you mean?
- 22:17Speaker 4: You both married her, didn't you? Yeah.
