- 0:06Speaker 1: We didn't need.
- 0:17Speaker 2: Yeah, this is wok. You're wild? Is that just me?
- 0:22Speaker 1: You can turn me down in your settings.
- 0:25Speaker 2: I'm turning your volume down.
- 0:26Speaker 3: Yeah, do the whole episode with his volume on zero
- 0:30Speaker 3: and see what happens. I'm sad we never got to
- 0:35Speaker 3: do our April Fool's episode. If we would have went just.
- 0:39Speaker 2: What would we have done.
- 0:41Speaker 3: We were gonna switch casts and talk about you know,
- 0:45Speaker 3: there's games, but not like mention it at all and
- 0:49Speaker 3: just act like it was normal.
- 0:51Speaker 1: We've done that, Well, we have it. We did that
- 0:56Speaker 1: with help from future self.
- 0:58Speaker 3: That's not quite as funny, Like, not not at all.
- 1:02Speaker 1: Except we played characters from their like, yeah I was
- 1:07Speaker 1: blakan them and they acted like I was blak.
- 1:12Speaker 4: It was called Riftbound Corner for that thing. You could
- 1:14Speaker 4: have just made a rift Bound episode.
- 1:17Speaker 3: I could have written a rift Bound episode and it
- 1:20Speaker 3: wouldn't have been much different than you guys reacting to
- 1:24Speaker 3: what I've written this Bound and.
- 1:27Speaker 1: Dying, because that game really went for it seems to
- 1:31Speaker 1: be the same ship that's happening with every other card
- 1:34Speaker 1: game that's being released. It's being replaced by the next
- 1:38Speaker 1: big thing. Yeah, what's going on everybody? Well, now, it's
- 1:44Speaker 1: now it's not punk.
- 1:46Speaker 3: Oh that's a that's an illusion, that's not actual replacing
- 1:52Speaker 3: anything yet.
- 1:53Speaker 1: Not yet, but it'll come out and everyone will forget
- 1:57Speaker 1: about Riftbound and then and then I couldn't get it
- 2:04Speaker 1: doesn't matter right, Like it's just it's replaced, and then
- 2:07Speaker 1: everybody ends up playing commander in the end. Well, what's
- 2:11Speaker 1: going on, everybody? Okay? I you joined here by the
- 2:14Speaker 1: normal cast of misfits. We have the kid who knows
- 2:17Speaker 1: more than you, mister Cole Robbie yep, we've got the
- 2:22Speaker 1: proverbial red shirt Dexter hello everyone, and the man with
- 2:28Speaker 1: the godliest hair known to anyone.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Felix that just made my own shirts. Oh okay, made
- 2:39Speaker 3: your own shirts like you're a nomad, or like you
- 2:44Speaker 3: made shirts with your face on them because of your
- 2:46Speaker 3: beautiful hair. You know, that's an idea. I'll consider that one.
- 2:54Speaker 1: Got it? Well? With all that being said, uh, you
- 2:59Speaker 1: could buy arcons Corner shirts over at spreadshirt dot com.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Forward Corner. I mean it's you know, our KeyForge, the
- 3:09Speaker 1: cockroaches of the c CG community, Like they're outliving everybody.
- 3:13Speaker 1: I hate to say it.
- 3:15Speaker 3: Yeah, crazy how key forge is technically still being produced,
- 3:20Speaker 3: and even right now, as altered has been announced, Ending
- 3:25Speaker 3: still has less players.
- 3:29Speaker 2: Yep.
- 3:29Speaker 1: The cockroaches a man like what do you? What do you?
- 3:34Speaker 1: How do you? How do you say that? Like you
- 3:36Speaker 1: can say less players, but somehow they're it's still it's
- 3:40Speaker 1: still ha still blame.
- 3:43Speaker 2: We're still buying this sends.
- 3:46Speaker 3: Yeah, how how how many is there? There's obviously got
- 3:50Speaker 3: to be a main key Forge discord, right.
- 3:54Speaker 2: No, it's kind of corner.
- 3:56Speaker 4: Honestly, there's not many people are working in key for
- 4:03Speaker 4: it currently. A group of five five yes, actually, well.
- 4:08Speaker 2: It's it's really like three or four since the two man.
- 4:14Speaker 1: Games to yeah, you've got basically you have the one
- 4:17Speaker 1: guy who does I don't want to say everything, but
- 4:21Speaker 1: I guess everything's the way to say it. And that's
- 4:26Speaker 1: Luke is the cards.
- 4:31Speaker 2: He's not even employed by Ghost Galaxy contractor.
- 4:34Speaker 1: He is a he's a contractor. Yep. That's discussing and
- 4:41Speaker 1: well it's it's a long story CETEP. But actually it
- 4:43Speaker 1: doesn't I'll tell it c TP. Christian T. Peterson does
- 4:48Speaker 1: not like having team members that aren't like in like,
- 4:54Speaker 1: none of his job none of the jobs are remote right.
- 4:58Speaker 1: He hates remot people, but he liked Luke edoff that
- 5:04Speaker 1: he allowed him to stay on and be a remote person.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Yeah, so he sounds like an old white guy.
- 5:10Speaker 1: He is an old white Oh wow, I'm so surprised
- 5:15Speaker 1: he's from like Lithuania or something like that.
- 5:19Speaker 3: But we uh, they.
- 5:23Speaker 1: Like that's where he's from. Like, why why did you laugh.
- 5:26Speaker 2: Dexter, I didn't know he was from Lithuanian.
- 5:30Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm sorry, he's not from and he's from He's
- 5:34Speaker 1: from Denmark.
- 5:36Speaker 2: Okay.
- 5:39Speaker 3: Anyways, the question was how many people are in the
- 5:43Speaker 3: main key Forge server. But I guess I'm more more shocked,
- 5:48Speaker 3: but also I shouldn't be shocked that there isn't one.
- 5:53Speaker 1: I don't think there ever was one. FFG started keyforde
- 5:57Speaker 1: FFG was never big in the FFG hates online, So
- 6:04Speaker 1: I don't think they know what discord is. I mean,
- 6:10Speaker 1: in our server alone, we have six hundred and thirty
- 6:15Speaker 1: two members in our discord. I guess the other big
- 6:19Speaker 1: I mean like my.
- 6:20Speaker 2: Twenty I'm in twenty different Keyfoards discords and they range
- 6:26Speaker 2: from like one hundred to five hundred people. I mean
- 6:31Speaker 2: like ABR is like four hundred people. Coggies like three
- 6:35Speaker 2: four hundred something like that.
- 6:36Speaker 1: I don't know why I tell you how many? How
- 6:41Speaker 1: many people are in the hff F server. Do they
- 6:43Speaker 1: even have a rank? A call like a do they know?
- 6:46Speaker 1: I don't think there's Their server is not that sophisticated. Okay, nope,
- 6:52Speaker 1: because there's there's definitely a lap over right, like I
- 6:57Speaker 1: know a lot. I'm not in the HFFF server because
- 7:01Speaker 1: of one person. But yeah, the.
- 7:05Speaker 3: Reasoning for the question is not just random, and I
- 7:09Speaker 3: mean this is part of a conversation that today's episode
- 7:13Speaker 3: is not about, but it is very intriguing. Maybe someone
- 7:18Speaker 3: will want to talk about it another time, a different place,
- 7:22Speaker 3: a different area. But the Altered discord, even after everything,
- 7:28Speaker 3: still has fourteen thousand people and something will something we'll
- 7:35Speaker 3: talk about later in this episode. Is the community project
- 7:42Speaker 3: that started is already about to hit twelve hundred people.
- 7:48Speaker 3: And then we were talking before we started recording about
- 7:52Speaker 3: how many active games on just BGA there is of
- 7:56Speaker 3: Altered and even with everything, it's ill at five hundred
- 8:01Speaker 3: and forty something active games.
- 8:04Speaker 1: Well, you know, here's the deal. Somehow you got to
- 8:07Speaker 1: get your your top line. I again, I don't know
- 8:11Speaker 1: what all went into it two million dollars wasn't feasible. Yeah,
- 8:18Speaker 1: and I mean think it ever was. I don't think
- 8:20Speaker 1: especially three year, You're talking six million dollars a year.
- 8:24Speaker 1: I don't know. I don't know where the money went to.
- 8:27Speaker 1: I think a lot of it was art. I don't
- 8:32Speaker 1: know how many people worked on game design distribument. I
- 8:36Speaker 1: mean distribution was basically being held by who am I
- 8:42Speaker 1: thinking of themselves because that was the whole game. Found
- 8:47Speaker 1: was handling a lot of it, right, So.
- 8:50Speaker 3: No, they didn't handle any distribution. No, okay, it was
- 8:55Speaker 3: I mean that's that. That's what we talked about last episode.
- 8:59Speaker 3: I think for the port, today's episode is titled not
- 9:04Speaker 3: dead Yet or whatever randomness puts together is.
- 9:12Speaker 2: Only a flesh wind.
- 9:14Speaker 3: Last episode was technically supposed to be the last, but
- 9:19Speaker 3: then literally like two days after it went live, they
- 9:22Speaker 3: put out a big, a big article about the future
- 9:28Speaker 3: of Altered, which is a version of Altered without equinox.
- 9:35Speaker 3: And then there were also two amas, basically one in
- 9:39Speaker 3: French on a French Twitch channel and then one on
- 9:43Speaker 3: the official Altered YouTube in English, one with Regis and
- 9:49Speaker 3: one with Eric aka in talks, the chief marketing officer
- 9:55Speaker 3: so we thought we would come back together to give
- 10:00Speaker 3: people the news the information if they were not reading
- 10:04Speaker 3: it in any of the places and would prefer to
- 10:08Speaker 3: listen to it. So you guys ready to dive into that?
- 10:14Speaker 1: Yeah, we can, uh, we can, we can dive in.
- 10:17Speaker 1: Set six will be given to everybody, including ten uniques
- 10:22Speaker 1: to every account that's logged in some since September one,
- 10:26Speaker 1: twenty twenty five. That's yep. For next set. That's for
- 10:31Speaker 1: the up roots of ruption. Thank you. I'm drawing blanks
- 10:37Speaker 1: right now. It's Sunday and I'm trying to have them
- 10:39Speaker 1: a lazy day and it's not working out. So so
- 10:43Speaker 1: for roots a Ruption to get ten uniques, that will
- 10:46Speaker 1: be interesting. I think it already happened. So it was, Oh,
- 10:53Speaker 1: I mind to see if I could get them. Let's
- 10:55Speaker 1: see if I got them.
- 10:56Speaker 2: You might not if you didn't log in.
- 10:58Speaker 1: I've logged in some I've logged in this year.
- 11:01Speaker 3: Okay, yeah, definitely check your email if you did not
- 11:07Speaker 3: get an email. There's a very easy way to check
- 11:10Speaker 3: if you just got the uniques, which is just go
- 11:13Speaker 3: to altered dot gg and then go to your collection,
- 11:19Speaker 3: sort by roots of corruption, and then just filter to
- 11:24Speaker 3: uniques only, and you should see your uniques there without
- 11:27Speaker 3: having to click every link in the email, and you'll
- 11:32Speaker 3: also see the entirety of the Roots of Corruption set
- 11:39Speaker 3: in your collection as well. I have still tried not
- 11:44Speaker 3: looking at the set. I want to like set some
- 11:49Speaker 3: time aside and either do like a video or some
- 11:54Speaker 3: kind of something where I take it card by card
- 11:58Speaker 3: and see what the what the set looked like. But
- 12:01Speaker 3: of course I've kind of looked at my uniques, and
- 12:04Speaker 3: I've seen other people post uniques. Yeah, the set, as
- 12:08Speaker 3: we thought, looks amazing, and the uniques look amazing, So yeah,
- 12:16Speaker 3: some of the odd choices that they may look really
- 12:19Speaker 3: really cool.
- 12:21Speaker 1: Yep.
- 12:22Speaker 3: And if you stick around throughout this episode and you
- 12:26Speaker 3: also think it sounds really cool or you thought it
- 12:30Speaker 3: looked cool, but you averted your gaze because you did
- 12:34Speaker 3: not want to cry over a I've I've been calling
- 12:40Speaker 3: Altered our our zombie boyfriend, because it's not really dead.
- 12:44Speaker 3: And that's what a lot of this episode will be about.
- 12:48Speaker 3: What's going to happen next, what's currently.
- 12:57Speaker 2: Cry oh wampomp.
- 13:01Speaker 3: So they said in the article that you had to
- 13:05Speaker 3: have logged in since September one. I am thinking what
- 13:11Speaker 3: the actual parameter might have been is you had had
- 13:16Speaker 3: to have scanned a card since then. And I'm just
- 13:22Speaker 3: guessing that based off of kind of how their system works,
- 13:27Speaker 3: and they probably thought, if you've logged in since September first,
- 13:32Speaker 3: why have you not at least scanned one card that
- 13:36Speaker 3: is not anything confirmed. I'm just guessing that's why someone
- 13:41Speaker 3: if they just casually logged in, did not get any uniques.
- 13:46Speaker 3: But it was automated, so there is nothing you can do.
- 13:51Speaker 1: So I just got fucked. Yeah, yeah, basically you you could.
- 13:58Speaker 3: You could submit a support request, but I am fairly
- 14:02Speaker 3: certain it's not do any good. They are like extremely
- 14:09Speaker 3: backlogged with the duplicate uniques from Seeds of Unity that
- 14:13Speaker 3: they're still working through and then.
- 14:17Speaker 1: Issue too.
- 14:19Speaker 3: I mean they're still working. They still are all in
- 14:22Speaker 3: office working on doing things, and you'll see some of
- 14:26Speaker 3: that as we continue here.
- 14:28Speaker 1: What's shutting down the company.
- 14:31Speaker 2: I meaning stuff to the community.
- 14:33Speaker 1: Selling off the what's left.
- 14:37Speaker 3: Yeah, they are. Support is still working, so they're doing that.
- 14:40Speaker 1: So it's weird. I have I have access to all
- 14:43Speaker 1: the cards, but I didn't get any uniques.
- 14:46Speaker 3: Yeah, they gave every account, They.
- 14:48Speaker 1: Gave everyone account, like right now, I would have access
- 14:53Speaker 1: to it, Yes, I believe. So do I have access
- 15:00Speaker 1: to all the cards? I don't know if I do
- 15:02Speaker 1: or don't? Hold on you should except we're on here.
- 15:06Speaker 1: Let's take that out and let's just go there.
- 15:09Speaker 3: There.
- 15:09Speaker 4: Not all the old art stuff though, yeah, yeah, some
- 15:13Speaker 4: of the old arts, though not all of them, like
- 15:15Speaker 4: for example, the is a from Roots of Corruption.
- 15:19Speaker 3: It is principle.
- 15:21Speaker 4: Okay, I have it in my I have it in
- 15:24Speaker 4: my my cart right now.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Yeah. So have we have access to Oh no, we
- 15:29Speaker 1: don't have access to the full arts?
- 15:32Speaker 3: I want the full they are great yet yep yep.
- 15:36Speaker 3: So Rites of Corruption will be the set that you
- 15:38Speaker 3: have the most of. So like the couple of alltarts
- 15:45Speaker 3: that Felix mentioned, Set seven, which will be released to
- 15:51Speaker 3: everyone the same way, but no uniques will happen sometime
- 15:56Speaker 3: this month aka April, that one, as far as I remember,
- 16:01Speaker 3: will not have any like allt arts or full arts
- 16:05Speaker 3: or anything like that, as they were likely not finished,
- 16:09Speaker 3: but everyone will get access to the set never ending journey.
- 16:15Speaker 3: This name was always on the table, but with how ironic,
- 16:21Speaker 3: with recent news and everything going on, they felt that
- 16:24Speaker 3: it was the most fitting. I think they specifically said
- 16:28Speaker 3: it was between like three different names, and so they
- 16:33Speaker 3: picked this one. It is actually super fitting, which I
- 16:39Speaker 3: keep saying it. But you'll learn more and more about
- 16:41Speaker 3: by listening to this episode. But also if you know
- 16:45Speaker 3: how many sets of Lore and how far the story
- 16:51Speaker 3: expands across the universe from Yoshi, he said that he
- 16:55Speaker 3: had written lore for twenty seven sets. Uh, so it
- 17:03Speaker 3: is going to.
- 17:04Speaker 2: Still keep coming out.
- 17:06Speaker 1: I do Laurel continue to come out. But like again,
- 17:11Speaker 1: I think this was a hasty move on their part,
- 17:14Speaker 1: like yeah, shutting down everything, doing all this stuff, Like, well,
- 17:20Speaker 1: I've talked about it so many times, like why is
- 17:23Speaker 1: there not a world removed? This to somehow digital only?
- 17:30Speaker 3: It's not the intended purpose of the game, is the
- 17:34Speaker 3: quick It's not the.
- 17:34Speaker 1: Intended purpose of the game, but like it is a
- 17:37Speaker 1: way to keep it alive, and it is a way
- 17:40Speaker 1: that at least I feel ninety percent of the community
- 17:44Speaker 1: interacted with it.
- 17:46Speaker 4: Yeah, we're interacting with some of the devs jen Con
- 17:50Speaker 4: last year, and they were not happy with having digital
- 17:53Speaker 4: being a thing. A lot of the devs really only
- 17:56Speaker 4: want to physical.
- 17:57Speaker 1: You know, you don't need to be happy about it.
- 17:59Speaker 1: But like this, this is it's it, bro, It's twenty
- 18:02Speaker 1: twenty six, right, I mean, it just it is what
- 18:06Speaker 1: it is. This is how people want to interact with it,
- 18:08Speaker 1: and this is how people are going to interact with it, right, Like,
- 18:13Speaker 1: you don't necessarily get to choose how your product's going
- 18:17Speaker 1: to be used in the end all be all, and
- 18:20Speaker 1: if this is the way that people want to want
- 18:22Speaker 1: to do it, give the people what they want, right,
- 18:27Speaker 1: feel I feel I feel personally I could see maybe
- 18:31Speaker 1: doing said six and said seven, just giving it away,
- 18:33Speaker 1: But why not again, why not try to attempt to
- 18:39Speaker 1: find a way to work with Asthma day to make
- 18:43Speaker 1: this a digital only Maybe is not the right way and.
- 18:47Speaker 2: They wouldn't cooperate.
- 18:49Speaker 1: That's why I said I would say maybe that's why
- 18:53Speaker 1: That's why I said, maybe Asthmada is not the correct
- 18:55Speaker 1: one to do it. But I feel like they were like,
- 18:58Speaker 1: well that's that boys, ship it all out. Like I
- 19:02Speaker 1: just I feel like there is there's got to be
- 19:04Speaker 1: a company out there that would have been like, hey,
- 19:07Speaker 1: there's still something here, Let's see if there's a way
- 19:11Speaker 1: we can continue to grow and then maybe five ten
- 19:18Speaker 1: years down the line, you know, or maybe even sooner,
- 19:22Speaker 1: like we're able to figure out a way to bring
- 19:25Speaker 1: back physicality of it, whether whether that is the print
- 19:28Speaker 1: on demand where you're like, hey, and now I want
- 19:30Speaker 1: to print cards and be able to send them to
- 19:33Speaker 1: my home so that I can play them with my friends,
- 19:35Speaker 1: or whatever the case may be. I think they made
- 19:38Speaker 1: a very hasty decision of just.
- 19:43Speaker 4: As a living card game to like you said, just
- 19:46Speaker 4: being online first and then maybe four championships for say
- 19:50Speaker 4: print on demand would have been the way for people
- 19:52Speaker 4: to participate. So this is the part. At this point,
- 19:56Speaker 4: this is.
- 19:56Speaker 3: The moment where I tell you, guys, I did write
- 20:04Speaker 3: the show notes, and I guess I am the only
- 20:06Speaker 3: one still super actively following the information. So if this
- 20:12Speaker 3: is where the bulk of everyone has comments, let me
- 20:17Speaker 3: run through the updates real quick and then I'll show
- 20:22Speaker 3: you some stuff, all right, So run down. Yeah, never
- 20:27Speaker 3: ending journey digital services will stop at the end of May.
- 20:31Speaker 3: There will be an ultimate print on demand sometime in
- 20:36Speaker 3: mid April. I actually think that's gonna end up being
- 20:39Speaker 3: pushed to May because after the news print on demand
- 20:44Speaker 3: slots have been filling out incredibly quick. As of right now,
- 20:49Speaker 3: we are up to April twenty first, and they have
- 20:55Speaker 3: three thousand packs in that slot. I think three have
- 21:00Speaker 3: filled up since the thirty first, and filling up is
- 21:05Speaker 3: five cards yep, five thousand or more. Real quick keynotes
- 21:12Speaker 3: on the ultimate Print on Demand because people love, love,
- 21:17Speaker 3: love to attach to specific words and try to guess
- 21:20Speaker 3: what they mean, it's it's just the last Print on
- 21:24Speaker 3: demand ninety nine percent likely to be the case. They
- 21:27Speaker 3: won't be offering any discounts. There won't be anything like
- 21:31Speaker 3: you can buy the whole set, and you know that's.
- 21:33Speaker 1: How it works, just count boys.
- 21:34Speaker 3: The company's going out of business well, and this is
- 21:38Speaker 3: specifically because how print on demand is set up with
- 21:42Speaker 3: Carda Mundi, they don't have like any flexibility and in
- 21:46Speaker 3: one of the AMAS they actually said if they continue
- 21:51Speaker 3: to work at it, something like that could have been
- 21:53Speaker 3: possible in the future, but now it's absolutely not possible.
- 21:58Speaker 3: Print on Demand doesn't even break even until they get
- 22:04Speaker 3: to two thy five hundred packs in an order, which
- 22:09Speaker 3: is awesome now that there's been a ton of print
- 22:11Speaker 3: on demand. But the other thing that they're going to
- 22:15Speaker 3: do is almost all cards and art will be uploaded
- 22:19Speaker 3: to most likely get hub. So when the digital service ends.
- 22:24Speaker 3: All of that will be retained there, and now we
- 22:29Speaker 3: are to the speculation or the why they should have
- 22:35Speaker 3: done this or not. So to answer Wookie and Felix's
- 22:42Speaker 3: questions about why they did this or what about an LCG,
- 22:47Speaker 3: kind of those things were answered in the AMA. A
- 22:51Speaker 3: lot of people have thrown around the LCG question. Basically
- 22:55Speaker 3: they said it was never a consideration because lcges are
- 23:01Speaker 3: not cheap and it's basically the same amount of cost
- 23:06Speaker 3: but without as many benefits. And the reason that they
- 23:12Speaker 3: are doing this is because they are all losing their jobs.
- 23:17Speaker 3: Equinox might remain with like two employees, two to three something,
- 23:23Speaker 3: it's not been determined yet, but they have you know,
- 23:27Speaker 3: twenty plus people on staff, plus you know, over thirty
- 23:35Speaker 3: artists or something like that that worked on the game
- 23:38Speaker 3: as contractors here and there. So there's really no reason
- 23:46Speaker 3: not to do what they're doing. But the other thing
- 23:50Speaker 3: is is they want to kind of hand it over
- 23:54Speaker 3: to the community as long as the community or any
- 24:00Speaker 3: projects that take it into the future don't betray like
- 24:04Speaker 3: their original vision. So one of the things, of course
- 24:09Speaker 3: mentioned was absolutely no AI or if you know, someone
- 24:15Speaker 3: starts to take the art and it's just trying to
- 24:17Speaker 3: sell like T shirts or whatever, then of course they're
- 24:20Speaker 3: going to shut them down. So that is answering two
- 24:25Speaker 3: of those questions and giving you the updates really quickly.
- 24:30Speaker 3: But there are some other notes in here as well.
- 24:36Speaker 1: Well.
- 24:37Speaker 3: Keep rolling, all right, So I do have a whole
- 24:41Speaker 3: page of notes on the AMA from Eric that was
- 24:45Speaker 3: the one in English aka Intox, the chief marketing Officer.
- 24:51Speaker 3: The biggest thing to me that came out of both
- 24:54Speaker 3: of these, and comparing because I also read a translation
- 24:58Speaker 3: of the one that registered is it seems a lot
- 25:03Speaker 3: more likely that the thing that really killed altered sooner
- 25:08Speaker 3: rather than later was the digital aspect of the game
- 25:11Speaker 3: and how much they tried to revolutionize it. They they
- 25:16Speaker 3: of course in both amas mentioned that the delays were
- 25:20Speaker 3: a huge hit to the game, but also they never
- 25:26Speaker 3: thought it would be delayed and they just didn't fully
- 25:33Speaker 3: realize how much work it was going to be. And
- 25:38Speaker 3: it really is because it was like revolutionary features, right, No.
- 25:42Speaker 2: Getting the whole marketplace setup is ridiculous.
- 25:46Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean it is kind of unfortunate to me
- 25:48Speaker 3: because the way that I see it is you are
- 25:52Speaker 3: basically damned if you try to do anything that isn't
- 25:57Speaker 3: the status quo. And so if you're new to TCGs,
- 26:03Speaker 3: basically the status quo right now is as long as
- 26:07Speaker 3: you don't have scalpers, you know, you most often will
- 26:12Speaker 3: maybe buy like one box of product, and then you'll
- 26:15Speaker 3: buy singles. And most of the time people are buying
- 26:19Speaker 3: them from like TCG player. If they're lucky, they'll be
- 26:23Speaker 3: able to pick up what they need from their local
- 26:25Speaker 3: game store. But even my game store, you don't necessarily
- 26:29Speaker 3: like buy card buy singles from going into the store.
- 26:33Speaker 3: You just buy them from their TCG player shop. So
- 26:37Speaker 3: basically they were trying to revolutionize that system, which I
- 26:43Speaker 3: think in the end they did, but it was against
- 26:48Speaker 3: the status quo, so people either rejected it or didn't
- 26:53Speaker 3: fully buy into it.
- 26:55Speaker 1: I had an interesting way of looking at it.
- 26:59Speaker 3: Yeah, well I have a experience on both, you know,
- 27:01Speaker 3: working with the altered marketplace technically getting singles from there,
- 27:07Speaker 3: and then as well doing a lot of work with
- 27:09Speaker 3: PCG player, And.
- 27:12Speaker 1: I think just the way that you're putting it there,
- 27:15Speaker 1: if that's the way they meant to say it, is
- 27:17Speaker 1: a very It's again, it's an interesting way of putting it.
- 27:20Speaker 1: Like they were trying to revolutionize it, and I don't
- 27:24Speaker 1: think that they necessarily weren't. They were trying to think
- 27:27Speaker 1: of different things. I've often said had died, oh sorry,
- 27:32Speaker 1: And I often think that they tried to keep the
- 27:35Speaker 1: player in mind, right, as opposed to the financials, which
- 27:39Speaker 1: probably led to a big chunk of the game bleeding money.
- 27:45Speaker 1: As you just twenty five hundred packs to break even.
- 27:50Speaker 1: That's ludicrous, right, Like, twenty five hundred packs of cards
- 27:56Speaker 1: needed to go out before they even broke even. Uh.
- 28:01Speaker 1: Clearly to me that says you need to raise your
- 28:03Speaker 1: like the print on demand system at bare minimum needed
- 28:08Speaker 1: to break even, period and a story like whatever that was.
- 28:14Speaker 1: If it was one pack that went out and it
- 28:18Speaker 1: costs one hundred dollars, that's what it costs, right, Like,
- 28:22Speaker 1: you can't be bleeding money on that front. You can't
- 28:26Speaker 1: be bleeding money anywhere, especially when you're a new card game. Yeah,
- 28:31Speaker 1: And I don't know a altered suffers from the same
- 28:34Speaker 1: thing of like of that Keyford suffers from. Right, What
- 28:39Speaker 1: is an altered card worth whatever someone's willing to pay
- 28:45Speaker 1: for and what is that? It depends on.
- 28:49Speaker 2: The card, Okay, it depends on how good it is
- 28:51Speaker 2: It depends on the people that are looking at sure.
- 28:54Speaker 1: Sure, but okay, let's take a card like the Hunger.
- 28:56Speaker 1: What is the Hunger worth? Right, a very in demand card, right,
- 29:00Speaker 1: what is it worth?
- 29:01Speaker 2: Eight bucks?
- 29:03Speaker 1: Eight bucks? According to who the market the people that
- 29:07Speaker 1: are selling, the marketplace, the market that adjusts. But let's
- 29:12Speaker 1: say there is no marketplace, now, what is that card worth?
- 29:15Speaker 1: There's no marketplace for you to to you to reference.
- 29:20Speaker 2: I mean eBay still exists.
- 29:23Speaker 1: Sure, every TCG player says, right, but my, my, my
- 29:27Speaker 1: whole thing and being is there's no there's no way
- 29:31Speaker 1: for a game store. There's no way for me. There
- 29:33Speaker 1: was with the game originally launched. There is zero way
- 29:38Speaker 1: for a person to have a meaningful way of knowing
- 29:43Speaker 1: how much their cards were worth. Right, So it was
- 29:47Speaker 1: all card games though that's not true, like you can
- 29:50Speaker 1: open a magic pack right now and know what your
- 29:52Speaker 1: cards are worth.
- 29:54Speaker 2: Yeah, that's all been out for a while. But you're
- 29:57Speaker 2: saying when the game, even.
- 29:59Speaker 1: Even when cards first come out, right, do you think
- 30:04Speaker 1: that it was just the fucking wild West when one
- 30:06Speaker 1: piece rolled out?
- 30:09Speaker 2: I mean in the first week probably.
- 30:11Speaker 1: Maybe in the first week, but it probably stabilized very fast.
- 30:15Speaker 1: Quickly after that, right. So, but the problem is is
- 30:19Speaker 1: for probably the first year, there was no way to
- 30:23Speaker 1: know if my card was worth five dollars or five cents.
- 30:28Speaker 2: Yeah, and TCG player, the delays that they had getting
- 30:32Speaker 2: the market.
- 30:33Speaker 1: Yeah, that TCG player. And the main thing was is
- 30:38Speaker 1: having a digital aspect and a physical aspect were like
- 30:45Speaker 1: two different things. Right, So now you've got to try
- 30:47Speaker 1: to do I sell just the digital and if I
- 30:50Speaker 1: sell the digital, what's the card? It's nothing now, right,
- 30:53Speaker 1: But then there was no print on demand. It could
- 30:56Speaker 1: have very well had if it would have launched with
- 30:58Speaker 1: print on demand, it very well could have had a
- 31:03Speaker 1: better chance because TCG player could have been like, well,
- 31:06Speaker 1: here's your code, add it to your collection. I don't
- 31:08Speaker 1: know if they rip up the card or what they
- 31:10Speaker 1: do with it afterward. But it had the you know,
- 31:12Speaker 1: there's just there's a lot of moving pieces that nobody
- 31:15Speaker 1: had answers to right away.
- 31:18Speaker 2: Yeah, So trying to revolutionize too many different aspects, and so.
- 31:22Speaker 1: That made third CARDI services go, I I can't make
- 31:26Speaker 1: money off this. I'm not interested yet. You gotta you
- 31:33Speaker 1: gotta let them eat you got you have game stores,
- 31:38Speaker 1: tc A lot of these places. You gotta let them eat.
- 31:43Speaker 1: You cannot cut them out because if they don't, they're
- 31:45Speaker 1: just not gonna they're not going to have anything to
- 31:47Speaker 1: do with you. And if they're not going to have
- 31:49Speaker 1: anything to do with you, I I we've now seen
- 31:54Speaker 1: it again. I was very hopeful for this time around.
- 31:56Speaker 1: I don't know why I was silly. I was You're
- 32:00Speaker 1: You're just you're doomed. You're in trouble. If if you
- 32:03Speaker 1: cannot get on these things again with keyfards, what's the
- 32:06Speaker 1: key Forde death work worth a dollar, ten dollars, twelve dollars,
- 32:12Speaker 1: thirty six hundred dollars? Nobody knows because there's no way
- 32:16Speaker 1: to quantify it.
- 32:18Speaker 3: Probably not the paper, not worth the paper it's printed on,
- 32:21Speaker 3: if you ask me.
- 32:21Speaker 1: But sure, I mean, that's that's how you feel about it.
- 32:25Speaker 1: That's how you feel. But that that's the issue with these,
- 32:28Speaker 1: with the card games that are coming out, is that
- 32:30Speaker 1: it is it is difficult to quantify. And if I
- 32:32Speaker 1: can't quantify it, we get into trouble, right because now
- 32:36Speaker 1: TCG player doesn't know what to do with it. All
- 32:39Speaker 1: these your local game store doesn't hot they don't know
- 32:42Speaker 1: what to do with it. And we just get very trouble.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Interesting that that is your your note, I'm not I'm
- 32:50Speaker 3: not sure if you're following along where I'm at in
- 32:53Speaker 3: the show notes, but I am.
- 32:56Speaker 1: The next thing. You're saying that they were trying to
- 32:58Speaker 1: revolutionize too much, too much.
- 33:01Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, and I mean in that regard and.
- 33:03Speaker 1: As an interesting way of looking at it. My thought
- 33:08Speaker 1: on it is, I don't I could agree with it.
- 33:12Speaker 1: They tried to revolutionize too much too quick, but I
- 33:15Speaker 1: think there's other things too, right, like you have to
- 33:18Speaker 1: have the physical and you want to play with the digitally,
- 33:20Speaker 1: you got to have the digital rights. If you want
- 33:22Speaker 1: to play with it physically, you got to have the
- 33:24Speaker 1: physical rights. My thought of it is is it should
- 33:27Speaker 1: have just been one. If you have the card in
- 33:29Speaker 1: your hand and you're able to scan it, you own
- 33:31Speaker 1: both period and of story. Whoever owns the card physically
- 33:36Speaker 1: also owns the card digitally if at any time it
- 33:39Speaker 1: is and see this is this is where we get
- 33:41Speaker 1: into trickiness. Is because if that QR code scanned, right,
- 33:44Speaker 1: does it just change collections? They would have to have
- 33:46Speaker 1: some form of dispute system, right, so my dexter doesn't
- 33:51Speaker 1: go through my trade binder and scan all my cards
- 33:53Speaker 1: a little asshole. Yeah.
- 33:57Speaker 3: So the way that I see it is they were
- 34:01Speaker 3: too consumer friendly, and people who are on the outside
- 34:06Speaker 3: might not see it that way because they are ingrained
- 34:10Speaker 3: in the current market. And there's a very interesting note
- 34:15Speaker 3: that I have here from one of the AMAS about
- 34:18Speaker 3: how Equinox actually spoke with TCG player to try and
- 34:24Speaker 3: like be you know, in front of that whole situation
- 34:29Speaker 3: and be like, how can we also be included? What
- 34:33Speaker 3: does it look like? Things like that, And they didn't
- 34:37Speaker 3: outright say it, but reading between the lines, TCG Player
- 34:40Speaker 3: was basically like, we have no interest in working with
- 34:44Speaker 3: altered because it's not beneficial to us.
- 34:47Speaker 1: Right. It wasn't Yeah, and you're not wrong, Like they
- 34:52Speaker 1: were one hundred percent correct. It did not benefit them.
- 34:56Speaker 3: The way that I see it, though, is if more
- 34:59Speaker 3: places would have tried in the end, it actually is
- 35:03Speaker 3: way more beneficial to them. Problem is, as we talked about, Oh,
- 35:10Speaker 3: I can explain that. My main point is is we've
- 35:14Speaker 3: talked about it, you know, one hundred times by now,
- 35:17Speaker 3: probably LGS is and you know, store owners, workers, whatever,
- 35:25Speaker 3: first and foremost, if they're a good store, shout out
- 35:29Speaker 3: to them, they have way too many games, way too
- 35:32Speaker 3: much going on. But two, if they're not a very
- 35:35Speaker 3: good store or even you know, if they are, I
- 35:39Speaker 3: guess they're not going to want to do another system
- 35:43Speaker 3: or work, you know, put extra work into something if
- 35:47Speaker 3: it's not instantaneous that they're going to make their money
- 35:50Speaker 3: back on it. Which was the reality. If you remember
- 35:57Speaker 3: back when the game started, before the market was even live,
- 36:02Speaker 3: gamers Guild Arizona actually sold singles. And how they did
- 36:08Speaker 3: it is whether you think it was eitherir system was
- 36:11Speaker 3: good or not. What they did is they sold digital
- 36:15Speaker 3: versus physical. And the really great part about Altered is
- 36:23Speaker 3: if I have, say a daughter of Yigdrasil, and I
- 36:27Speaker 3: bring it to my local game store and someone you
- 36:32Speaker 3: know needs to play it or whatever, I can give
- 36:35Speaker 3: them my card and they can use it as long
- 36:39Speaker 3: as they have the digital right. I mean, spoiler, if
- 36:42Speaker 3: it's just for fun, you know, nobody really cares. But
- 36:47Speaker 3: the digital aspect wasn't really a hindrance because it meant
- 36:54Speaker 3: that you could easily just you know, swap cards you know,
- 36:58Speaker 3: here and there without causing too many problems. So it
- 37:03Speaker 3: wasn't like you're absolutely locked to your one card, which
- 37:07Speaker 3: some people might have thought it's just not the status quo. Like,
- 37:13Speaker 3: so I have a TCG player's shop. Someone today ordered
- 37:19Speaker 3: a magic card from me. That's ten cents and the
- 37:23Speaker 3: shipping is a dollar thirty, So it's like in other TCGs.
- 37:31Speaker 3: The reality is if they want one card, they're going
- 37:35Speaker 3: to most likely be spending a dollar thirty or more
- 37:40Speaker 3: for that one single card. When print on demand and altered,
- 37:47Speaker 3: you could get away with eighty cents, you know for
- 37:51Speaker 3: a card, which I think.
- 37:53Speaker 2: But it does take more time. It does sprintanship and everything.
- 37:59Speaker 3: If the system will was working as intended, it wouldn't
- 38:02Speaker 3: have taken that much more time.
- 38:04Speaker 2: Yes, in a perfect world, if everything was going wonderfully,
- 38:09Speaker 2: then it would be much better. But there just wasn't
- 38:13Speaker 2: enough interest to get the system really working the way
- 38:16Speaker 2: it needed to.
- 38:18Speaker 3: Yeah, but I saw it super easy as the fact that,
- 38:22Speaker 3: I mean, just do it how Gamers Guild Arizona did it,
- 38:25Speaker 3: and if you had a the LGS you would basically
- 38:28Speaker 3: do it the same. But you could then hand someone
- 38:31Speaker 3: the card, transfer them a digital version of the card
- 38:35Speaker 3: if you you know, had to, and then you were
- 38:38Speaker 3: good to go. Problem is it's outside of the norm.
- 38:42Speaker 3: It's not TCG player, so they didn't do it.
- 38:45Speaker 1: I don't know if it was outside of the norm
- 38:46Speaker 1: or if it was just too complicated.
- 38:49Speaker 3: It's really not, though I swear it's not.
- 38:53Speaker 2: Since people don't understand it and they can't read a
- 38:56Speaker 2: few words, then like.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Yeah, look at that.
- 38:59Speaker 2: They are very use but he doesn't know what the
- 39:01Speaker 2: hell is goings.
- 39:04Speaker 1: I know stuff. I talked to you.
- 39:07Speaker 3: The hell are you talking about?
- 39:09Speaker 2: Talk faster?
- 39:10Speaker 1: I'm just tell you it's too complicated, right, Yes, So
- 39:15Speaker 1: I don't think it's out of the norm thing. I
- 39:17Speaker 1: think it's just it's you say it's so easy, but
- 39:22Speaker 1: like that's like five more steps than I want to do.
- 39:25Speaker 1: Like if I need to borrow a card, I should
- 39:28Speaker 1: just be able to borrow a card. I shouldn't have
- 39:30Speaker 1: to then go into my digital collection transfer it over
- 39:34Speaker 1: for tournament purposes, right, and then I got to go
- 39:37Speaker 1: do it again. When I want to saying.
- 39:38Speaker 2: That you can just borrow a card if you have
- 39:40Speaker 2: digital I'm saying, yeah, you can borrow it, right, you can't, don't.
- 39:45Speaker 1: Why why do I have to do that? If I'm
- 39:48Speaker 1: going to a bigger I should just be able to
- 39:50Speaker 1: swap right. But well, I think you're saying, if you
- 39:53Speaker 1: have the physical card, right, we just got to now
- 39:56Speaker 1: swap digital rights.
- 39:58Speaker 3: No, you don't have to swap to exactly. That was
- 40:00Speaker 3: my point. Yeah, I mean the deck check is for
- 40:05Speaker 3: if you have three digital like copies of a card,
- 40:10Speaker 3: you can use any three cards is the easiest way
- 40:12Speaker 3: to put it. And what was even better about that
- 40:16Speaker 3: is it didn't matter what version of the card you had,
- 40:21Speaker 3: Like if I had two Kickstarter daughter a Veger sale
- 40:25Speaker 3: versus one beyond the Gates, I have three of the
- 40:28Speaker 3: same card and I can use whatever you know one
- 40:31Speaker 3: I want. The issue is, I mean, in my mind
- 40:37Speaker 3: it's outside of the norm because comparing one to one,
- 40:41Speaker 3: I would absolutely rather go on the Altered marketplace and
- 40:45Speaker 3: get a card then I would go to TCG player
- 40:49Speaker 3: in my experience.
- 40:54Speaker 1: Yeah, that's fine.
- 40:55Speaker 2: I mean it depends on how many cards you want
- 40:56Speaker 2: to buy. If you just want one or two, then
- 40:58Speaker 2: it's probably not worth getting the digital and doing a
- 41:02Speaker 2: whole pack on pod.
- 41:04Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean that's true.
- 41:06Speaker 2: It's definitely easier for Alter.
- 41:08Speaker 3: It's the It's the same on TCG player though, if
- 41:10Speaker 3: you if you find the right sellership like if you
- 41:14Speaker 3: spend over five dollars or whatever in their shop, you
- 41:16Speaker 3: can get free shipping if they're a level four seller. YadA, YadA, YadA.
- 41:21Speaker 3: But yeah, the it's just like I said, it's the
- 41:27Speaker 3: industry is what it is. The Other thing that kind
- 41:30Speaker 3: of goes into it is you were talking about value
- 41:35Speaker 3: and like what a card is worth. Harsh reality is
- 41:39Speaker 3: altered cards were too.
- 41:41Speaker 2: Cheap once again, they printed too many.
- 41:44Speaker 3: They were too consumer friendly, which is.
- 41:50Speaker 1: There was no there was not much to chase, right,
- 41:54Speaker 1: like the most sought after part of the game eight bucks.
- 42:01Speaker 3: Yep.
- 42:02Speaker 2: Well now there's exalts.
- 42:03Speaker 1: Too, but right, but I mean, you know that's a
- 42:07Speaker 1: little too little, too late, right.
- 42:09Speaker 3: Yeah, I was. I was talking to a store owner
- 42:12Speaker 3: like two weeks ago, and he literally said it. He's like,
- 42:18Speaker 3: I sell out of one piece because I can never
- 42:21Speaker 3: get enough one piece. But if I ever got enough
- 42:24Speaker 3: one piece, I would no longer sell out of it.
- 42:28Speaker 2: Yep. It's just like the demand is what makes the
- 42:31Speaker 2: demand higher. It's just artificial scarcity raises demand exactly. Economics.
- 42:38Speaker 3: Yeah, it's it's the worst. But any anything else you
- 42:42Speaker 3: guys wanted to point out from the A M. A.
- 42:45Speaker 3: Notes or the never Ending Journey article or anything like that.
- 42:53Speaker 1: No, I mean.
- 42:56Speaker 3: Where is it?
- 42:57Speaker 1: I know it was isn't their vision, but I still
- 43:01Speaker 1: think they were a bit hasty to make the decision
- 43:05Speaker 1: just to pull the plug instead of looking at online
- 43:08Speaker 1: online ability.
- 43:10Speaker 3: So the question is is how do they continue in
- 43:15Speaker 3: an online only How do.
- 43:16Speaker 2: They make money in online only?
- 43:18Speaker 1: Right?
- 43:19Speaker 2: We are they selling digital packs that's not legal in
- 43:22Speaker 2: most countries.
- 43:23Speaker 1: Well, how how does Hearthstone do it? How? I know?
- 43:29Speaker 1: So I know, I know some of the ones I'm
- 43:31Speaker 1: going to name now are dying, but like, how did
- 43:32Speaker 1: Gwent do it? How did a lot of these ones
- 43:36Speaker 1: that were successful for a time doing.
- 43:39Speaker 3: Gwent was also to consumer friendly, so it did die?
- 43:43Speaker 3: Right there was too consumer friendly, so it died.
- 43:47Speaker 2: Yep, everything that is accessible is not last.
- 43:51Speaker 3: Hearthstone is they have? I mean, they have the backing
- 43:57Speaker 3: of Blizzards, so that's number one. And they have a
- 44:01Speaker 3: digital client because they have millions of dollars that's number two.
- 44:05Speaker 3: And then they sell cosmetics and special events and expansions
- 44:10Speaker 3: and yacht just lots of micro transactions.
- 44:12Speaker 1: So that the question is is I mean, I mean,
- 44:15Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 44:16Speaker 3: How do they get the the two two million plus
- 44:21Speaker 3: dollars to do all that.
- 44:22Speaker 1: Though, because like you can Blizzard is too nice. But
- 44:27Speaker 1: I can't assume they're like, well, Heartstone's bleeding money again
- 44:30Speaker 1: print another set, like they have to be at least
- 44:35Speaker 1: bare minimum breaking even with their costs. Somewhere they're they're not.
- 44:40Speaker 1: They're not just being like oh Hertstone lost us.
- 44:43Speaker 2: Well, when you are a big company, you can.
- 44:46Speaker 1: Do yes, but like nobody is going to just lose
- 44:52Speaker 1: money for fun.
- 44:54Speaker 2: Yeah, no, you're not going to lose money on bigger
- 44:57Speaker 2: company corners.
- 45:00Speaker 4: I remember reading recently an article on which is of
- 45:04Speaker 4: the Coast and was really was keeping what kept Hasbro
- 45:09Speaker 4: going for a while was only medi the gathering.
- 45:12Speaker 3: It's still the toy subdivisions.
- 45:14Speaker 4: Were in the negatives, Well, medie the gathering was they're
- 45:17Speaker 4: a huge surplus that was making everybody everything is the.
- 45:20Speaker 1: Uploat It's still is.
- 45:23Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah, it still is. And there's there's the concept
- 45:28Speaker 3: of lost leaders and all of that. But this, you know,
- 45:31Speaker 3: this ain't an economic podcasts.
- 45:34Speaker 1: Right, but if we want to go into that point,
- 45:37Speaker 1: like like they do it in bigger chunks too, because
- 45:41Speaker 1: it's like, oh, well, our toys division is sucking ass, right,
- 45:45Speaker 1: But then like when they go into the toys division,
- 45:47Speaker 1: it's not like, well, Power Rangers is sucking ass, we
- 45:50Speaker 1: should release a new line of Power Rangers toys. They're
- 45:52Speaker 1: they're not going to release more Power Rangers toys. They're
- 45:55Speaker 1: going to go do something. You know, They're going to
- 45:56Speaker 1: try something else to make money.
- 46:00Speaker 3: Yeah, I think there. I mean, in in my just
- 46:03Speaker 3: total view of the digital TCG market, one of the
- 46:09Speaker 3: big reasons Hearthstone is still going and probably does still
- 46:13Speaker 3: make money is it's literally the only digital TCG that
- 46:20Speaker 3: has a good digital experience on mobile. I have tried
- 46:26Speaker 3: so many and they are not great on mobile.
- 46:32Speaker 4: Shutoversus shutting down to what it is already I think
- 46:37Speaker 4: it was recently.
- 46:40Speaker 3: I see, I tried it and the experience on mobile
- 46:43Speaker 3: is just not great. And I mean, I really want
- 46:48Speaker 3: a company to come out with a digital only TCG
- 46:52Speaker 3: that is just straight up that where I can have
- 46:56Speaker 3: high card clarity and just play a card game on
- 46:59Speaker 3: my phone, and it honestly, the only one that exists
- 47:05Speaker 3: is Marvel Snap.
- 47:06Speaker 2: Yep, it's only Marvel Snap.
- 47:08Speaker 4: The Shutoversus shutting down in June and they're going to
- 47:11Speaker 4: focus on their sequel.
- 47:13Speaker 3: That is, Oh well, the do they mean the sequel
- 47:17Speaker 3: is the one that just came out, right, or do
- 47:19Speaker 3: they mean.
- 47:19Speaker 4: The one that they're going to shut down the original
- 47:21Speaker 4: one that was released in twenty sixteen.
- 47:24Speaker 3: Okay, okay, yeah that was is the one that I tried.
- 47:27Speaker 3: And it's just too much on mobile. Yeah, Worl's be
- 47:29Speaker 3: on his own. They're going to focus on Yeah, that's
- 47:32Speaker 3: that's not surprising. It's also really well catered to an
- 47:37Speaker 3: Eastern audience. So I'm sure it makes a shit ton
- 47:39Speaker 3: of money, but to me, it's not a good TCG
- 47:46Speaker 3: experience on mobile.
- 47:49Speaker 1: So but all right, well they tell us about the
- 47:54Speaker 1: reunion project. What's going on over there? What do you
- 47:57Speaker 1: what do you guys?
- 47:58Speaker 2: What is the future of Baltered Look, I'm.
- 47:59Speaker 1: Sure you're a part of that. What what?
- 48:01Speaker 3: What?
- 48:01Speaker 1: What's going on over there?
- 48:03Speaker 2: I'm on the server. I have not said a word
- 48:05Speaker 2: about I'm on it.
- 48:06Speaker 1: Uh.
- 48:07Speaker 3: Felix had something in the A M A. He said
- 48:09Speaker 3: it was interesting before we go to that.
- 48:11Speaker 4: Yeah, in the A M A they said, where was it?
- 48:16Speaker 4: I had it just now, something about B G A.
- 48:19Speaker 4: But it gives me the impression that BG wasn't shutting
- 48:21Speaker 4: it down, which is really weird.
- 48:23Speaker 3: Oh yeah, okay, just about that. I I we've made
- 48:28Speaker 3: it far enough that I shouldn't care about holding my tongue, right, yeah,
- 48:33Speaker 3: fair enough.
- 48:33Speaker 1: I mean, I guess so, I mean nobody, I honestly.
- 48:38Speaker 3: I honestly doubt Eric listens to this podcast. I'm sure
- 48:43Speaker 3: that almost nobody from Equinox even listens to it.
- 48:46Speaker 1: And I do Eric yours.
- 48:50Speaker 3: I think he was he was absolutely the worst person
- 48:54Speaker 3: to do the A M A. Maybe he was the
- 48:58Speaker 3: only one not active doing something even though he's supposed
- 49:02Speaker 3: to be doing something. But yeah, it was, in my opinion,
- 49:06Speaker 3: kind of a mess. I think there was a lot
- 49:08Speaker 3: of contradictions to the reality of what's going on, and
- 49:12Speaker 3: then as well a high lack of accountability. And I
- 49:18Speaker 3: kind of call him out a little bit in my
- 49:20Speaker 3: AMA notes if you ever noticed that. I'll just name
- 49:24Speaker 3: two parts that made a group of us in the
- 49:27Speaker 3: community like flabbergasted. The first one, oh, what was the
- 49:34Speaker 3: first one? I might just remember the second one most Oh. So,
- 49:39Speaker 3: someone asked what his favorite memory was of working at
- 49:44Speaker 3: you know, equinoxen with altered and his answer, if you
- 49:50Speaker 3: know nothing else in a bubble was maybe fine, and
- 49:56Speaker 3: it's an answer sometimes people give when they're asked about something.
- 50:00Speaker 3: He said his favorite part and his favorite memory was
- 50:03Speaker 3: it never felt like he was working and said, if
- 50:11Speaker 3: you've paid any attention to the.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Community, that's not fair. I know where you're going with this.
- 50:21Speaker 3: Listen, go ahead, like I said, like I said in
- 50:24Speaker 3: a bubble, that's a perfectly normal thing to say, like
- 50:27Speaker 3: if you love your job, you'll never work at a
- 50:29Speaker 3: day or whatever. But the question was, like, what's your
- 50:32Speaker 3: favorite memory of like the game and working there? And
- 50:37Speaker 3: that's your answer, and this is coming from the chief
- 50:40Speaker 3: marketing officer, And I would say the number one most
- 50:48Speaker 3: what's the word I want to use here, like the
- 50:52Speaker 3: most lambasted part of the game in the community was marketing.
- 50:58Speaker 3: The amount of time, the amount of times that somebody
- 51:02Speaker 3: said this game's marketing sucks. Whoever's in charge of marketing
- 51:05Speaker 3: needs to be fired. You guys need better marketing.
- 51:09Speaker 2: He was so many times.
- 51:11Speaker 3: Very very frequent, and that is the chief marketing officers
- 51:16Speaker 3: and memory was so uh yeah. Some of us were
- 51:22Speaker 3: like wow, all right. The other thing was and this
- 51:27Speaker 3: kind of helps tie it together. Someone asked a question
- 51:31Speaker 3: about Sam. And Sam is a new hero in Roots
- 51:36Speaker 3: of Corruption and in my opinion, one of the major
- 51:42Speaker 3: selling points of Roots of Corruption. And he said, who
- 51:47Speaker 3: is Sam?
- 51:48Speaker 1: Oh my gosh, he does the marketing, not the card design.
- 51:54Speaker 2: God, but he should know some of the cards in
- 51:58Speaker 2: the game. Maybe once like the most popular Yizmere hero.
- 52:03Speaker 2: That's gonna exactly even Dexter knows.
- 52:08Speaker 3: This is a guy who works at the company and
- 52:10Speaker 3: is supposed to be marketing the game and asks who
- 52:15Speaker 3: one of their heroes is. It's not like we said
- 52:18Speaker 3: some random deep cut card in the set. It's the hero.
- 52:24Speaker 2: One of the like six or are there even six
- 52:27Speaker 2: heroes in Roots? How many heroes are in Roots?
- 52:30Speaker 3: If you only count new ones, it's only three. It's
- 52:33Speaker 3: only three one.
- 52:34Speaker 2: Of the three new heroes.
- 52:36Speaker 3: Breuh So Yeah, Anyways, I think I went off on
- 52:40Speaker 3: a tangent. You said, Bga, Yes, So that's what we're
- 52:44Speaker 3: going to talk about now, is the future of Altered
- 52:47Speaker 3: What's gonna happen next? To put it quickly, there has
- 52:52Speaker 3: been a Altered Reunion discord server setup. As I mentioned earlier,
- 52:58Speaker 3: it already has over one thousand members. Wiki said that
- 53:02Speaker 3: I'm probably involved, No, not really and probably not going
- 53:07Speaker 3: to be very much. I will at the very least
- 53:13Speaker 3: offer by moderator skills, and really that's just saying I
- 53:20Speaker 3: pay too much attention and see too many things, and
- 53:24Speaker 3: can delete bots trying to sell people nudes rather quickly.
- 53:30Speaker 1: I'm tired of getting them.
- 53:33Speaker 3: Well, I don't have privileges in arcons con.
- 53:36Speaker 1: I don't think we get I don't think we can
- 53:38Speaker 1: get many bots in our cons corner.
- 53:41Speaker 3: You do here and there and they last for like
- 53:43Speaker 3: two days.
- 53:44Speaker 2: Yep.
- 53:45Speaker 1: Yeah, but yeah.
- 53:48Speaker 3: So it's a great collection of you know, developers, artists,
- 53:53Speaker 3: people looking to continue the lower content creators, t os,
- 53:58Speaker 3: which I think I thought was a word everyone that
- 54:01Speaker 3: played a card game new but it's tournament organizers if
- 54:04Speaker 3: you didn't. A lot of Equinox employees which will become
- 54:10Speaker 3: former Equinox employees, have joined the server and they are
- 54:15Speaker 3: wrapping up right now, electing like representatives you know for organization, communications, organize, play,
- 54:26Speaker 3: all of that. But the the number one, like most
- 54:31Speaker 3: pressing thing right now is BGA, which Vincent, the main
- 54:37Speaker 3: BGA developer, truly the Goat, has also joined the server
- 54:42Speaker 3: and is working on a plan to keep BGA around
- 54:48Speaker 3: the number one goal right now is creating a new
- 54:52Speaker 3: API to allow players to you know, create decks and
- 54:58Speaker 3: things like that and connect to with BGA for when
- 55:03Speaker 3: Altered dot gg goes down. So that's already in the works.
- 55:06Speaker 3: It's like basically already solved. They're just kind of working on,
- 55:10Speaker 3: you know, the back end, what it looks like. There's
- 55:13Speaker 3: going to be some conversation around like what a collection
- 55:20Speaker 3: looks like, what happens with uniques. Equinox is very involved
- 55:24Speaker 3: with that and very willing to help hand a lot
- 55:28Speaker 3: of that over to the community so that they continue
- 55:31Speaker 3: playing on BGA for a very long time.
- 55:39Speaker 1: M All right, well, I mean I guess that's good
- 55:45Speaker 1: to know. Yeah, again, no.
- 55:53Speaker 3: Other questions or anything around all of that. I just
- 55:55Speaker 3: spit out, I guess too slowly.
- 55:58Speaker 2: It all sounds great. I mean that they're still doing
- 56:01Speaker 2: stuff online.
- 56:02Speaker 1: But yeah, it will be interesting eventually. I'm assuming they're
- 56:10Speaker 1: going to have to do something with the UI, like
- 56:13Speaker 1: I mean, I guess maybe not. I don't know how
- 56:16Speaker 1: to implement new cards. I'm assuming like there will eventually.
- 56:19Speaker 1: After You've got two sets coming out, so you got
- 56:23Speaker 1: some lots of new car lots of new cards, to
- 56:26Speaker 1: fiddle with. Eventually, some people are going to want some
- 56:28Speaker 1: new ones, right, so digital, sure there will.
- 56:31Speaker 2: Be a community designing some new cards on print and
- 56:36Speaker 2: play and digital and board game arena stuff.
- 56:42Speaker 1: Uh like Star Trek and Star Wars have like there,
- 56:45Speaker 1: do you have the committ continuing committee in the players committee?
- 56:49Speaker 3: A net Runner?
- 56:50Speaker 2: And yeah, Runner net Runners still exists.
- 56:54Speaker 1: Runner never die for whatever reason. We're not one hundred
- 56:57Speaker 1: percent sure. But anyways, like well, Josh, yeah, I'm not
- 57:02Speaker 1: sure why it doesn't. We don't know why it doesn't die. Yeah,
- 57:07Speaker 1: just again, it's it's time will tell. I'm sure they'll
- 57:10Speaker 1: want some new cards eventually, maybe in six months time
- 57:15Speaker 1: or so. If you're getting some of the creators and
- 57:18Speaker 1: the the you know whatnot, I'm sure they can lead
- 57:20Speaker 1: people in the correct direction as to where they were headed.
- 57:25Speaker 1: I'm assuming they were further than the never Ending Journey, right,
- 57:30Speaker 1: or at least some in some idea.
- 57:32Speaker 2: Yeah, they've probably designed a little bit for said eight
- 57:36Speaker 2: or nine a lot.
- 57:38Speaker 1: Correct, I mean, it's cool. I mean what when when
- 57:41Speaker 1: I forgot when you said it was May something May
- 57:44Speaker 1: twenty six, just six, it'll it. That's its BG A
- 57:50Speaker 1: end date, right.
- 57:51Speaker 3: No, no, would not be me. No, that's center dot
- 57:54Speaker 3: gg g G.
- 57:56Speaker 1: Oh oh, okay, when is bg AJ.
- 58:00Speaker 3: So the yeah, probably maybe never. The cool thing about
- 58:05Speaker 3: BGA and I've learned.
- 58:06Speaker 1: From probably maybe never the sentence I've ever heard. Probably
- 58:12Speaker 1: maybe never. All Right.
- 58:13Speaker 3: The coolest thing about BGA that I've learned from Vincent
- 58:17Speaker 3: is it costs nothing to have your game on.
- 58:21Speaker 2: So it's just the designing, I guess coding the developer.
- 58:26Speaker 3: Yeah. So at the bare minimum, intel BGA explodes or
- 58:35Speaker 3: or they say they have to cut games or something,
- 58:37Speaker 3: the starter decks and demo decks should remain on BGA
- 58:42Speaker 3: for a very long kay, by the end of May.
- 58:46Speaker 3: The developers of the community project their main goal is
- 58:51Speaker 3: to allow people to play custom decks after May, even
- 58:55Speaker 3: if it means they have to do no uniques. There's
- 58:59Speaker 3: the there's a lot of promising ideas and ways that
- 59:04Speaker 3: they could keep uniques, and Equinox is also opening to
- 59:09Speaker 3: Let's just say, for an example, they send an email
- 59:12Speaker 3: to everyone that has an account says like click this
- 59:16Speaker 3: link to claim your collection and then it'll connect to
- 59:20Speaker 3: the new API to transfer it.
- 59:24Speaker 1: Emails. But that's fine, Yeah, and nobody checks email, especially if.
- 59:31Speaker 3: You if you hear about it, then you just you know,
- 59:33Speaker 3: search your email and find it, because.
- 59:39Speaker 1: Until what got it? Until you say something, and then
- 59:41Speaker 1: I'll yeah.
- 59:44Speaker 3: Because the reality is is if they did it on
- 59:47Speaker 3: the website and they said, hey, everyone go to the
- 59:49Speaker 3: website and claim your collection, but you have until the
- 59:52Speaker 3: end of May, there would be more people that miss
- 59:54Speaker 3: that then don't read their emails. So I and that
- 1:00:00Speaker 3: is not one hundred percent confirmed how it's going to work.
- 1:00:03Speaker 3: That's just one of the ideas. There's a massive, too
- 1:00:09Speaker 3: much of a debate on how uniques are going to work,
- 1:00:12Speaker 3: whether people should keep their uniques, whether it should be
- 1:00:14Speaker 3: open to everyone, YadA YadA. I don't even want to
- 1:00:18Speaker 3: get into that conversation.
- 1:00:19Speaker 2: Yes, the uniques, we know you don't like them, Wookie,
- 1:00:26Speaker 2: but other people do.
- 1:00:27Speaker 3: Getting rid of uniques is out of the question. In
- 1:00:31Speaker 3: in my humble opinion, you can.
- 1:00:33Speaker 1: Have an opinion and you're you're allowed to be wrong.
- 1:00:36Speaker 2: They will still have a no unique mode. You can
- 1:00:38Speaker 2: have all the fun play in that. Some people will
- 1:00:41Speaker 2: want to play with uniques and.
- 1:00:46Speaker 3: I and that's that's a super easy way to put it.
- 1:00:50Speaker 3: Is if you don't like uniques, you always have no unique.
- 1:00:53Speaker 3: But if you like uniques and they all go away,
- 1:00:56Speaker 3: you have nothing. So, uh, what happens from here will
- 1:01:01Speaker 3: be all up to that. I don't have any say
- 1:01:05Speaker 3: in whatever happens. If you want to put your voice
- 1:01:08Speaker 3: towards whatever, you can join the Discord server. But it's
- 1:01:14Speaker 3: it will not be up to me. And that is
- 1:01:18Speaker 3: what a yeah, And there is a question from Astro
- 1:01:27Speaker 3: in the live chat, what would I like to see
- 1:01:29Speaker 3: Altered become in one year? Is this where I break
- 1:01:32Speaker 3: everyone's hearts?
- 1:01:35Speaker 2: I do?
- 1:01:36Speaker 3: I am. I think it's super cool that people want
- 1:01:40Speaker 3: to continue the journey and that so many people have
- 1:01:43Speaker 3: signed up to it and lend it, lend their their
- 1:01:46Speaker 3: sword or their axe. I am the type of person
- 1:01:51Speaker 3: that sometimes thinks it's okay to just let things die,
- 1:01:56Speaker 3: like if I play D and D. I am not
- 1:02:00Speaker 3: the type of player that's like, oh my god, if
- 1:02:02Speaker 3: my character dies, it's going to be the end of
- 1:02:04Speaker 3: the world. Sometimes things are better if they just die.
- 1:02:09Speaker 3: So what would I like to see Altered become in
- 1:02:11Speaker 3: one year? I don't know. I don't can't memory.
- 1:02:14Speaker 1: A memory, Yeah, I don't good memories. Yep.
- 1:02:20Speaker 3: Shout out to Altered Reunion and everything that they are
- 1:02:23Speaker 3: going to do. But the community is the community. It
- 1:02:31Speaker 3: has you know, a good mix of good and bad.
- 1:02:35Speaker 3: I will forever have all of the memories and joy
- 1:02:41Speaker 3: that I had with the game, and whether it continues
- 1:02:44Speaker 3: or dies, yep, that you know that can't be taken away.
- 1:02:49Speaker 3: And sometimes it's like when your favorite show goes to
- 1:02:53Speaker 3: a season nine and it really shouldn't have It should
- 1:02:57Speaker 3: have just died and maybe now refused.
- 1:03:01Speaker 4: This American show Cold not Dead yet that god cancel
- 1:03:04Speaker 4: left the season two.
- 1:03:07Speaker 3: Yeah, So that that's how I would answer that question,
- 1:03:11Speaker 3: if you guys want to answer it as well.
- 1:03:15Speaker 2: I mean, I'd like to see new stuff happen, and
- 1:03:18Speaker 2: it would be great if a new company took over
- 1:03:20Speaker 2: like they did with KeyForge, but I honestly don't really
- 1:03:23Speaker 2: see that happening.
- 1:03:24Speaker 1: I think it's great you can't catch the Falling Knife.
- 1:03:29Speaker 2: It's great that Reunion's doing it stuff and that the
- 1:03:32Speaker 2: community is going to keep the game going. But I'm
- 1:03:35Speaker 2: kind of fine with it dying and just letting it go.
- 1:03:38Speaker 2: I'm sure I'll still play some altered now and then,
- 1:03:41Speaker 2: but I'm not going to be super invested in the future.
- 1:03:47Speaker 3: We'll probably have some singleton deck built.
- 1:03:51Speaker 1: All garricks, not that far.
- 1:03:55Speaker 4: But there is one Garrick that I've been eyeing for
- 1:03:58Speaker 4: a long time and it's still sixty bucks.
- 1:04:01Speaker 3: So sadly, I'm never going to get that one.
- 1:04:03Speaker 1: What you got there, Felix, it's my all garrick built
- 1:04:07Speaker 1: all garricks all the time.
- 1:04:09Speaker 4: I was playing with Endorvian recently and I've been playing
- 1:04:12Speaker 4: with a Garrick that returns stuff from reserve back to
- 1:04:14Speaker 4: hand and it's been pretty nasty nice.
- 1:04:18Speaker 3: Uh.
- 1:04:19Speaker 1: I think I've made my views on this well known.
- 1:04:22Speaker 1: I would like to see it become a digital only client.
- 1:04:25Speaker 1: This is the way your consumer base has told you
- 1:04:27Speaker 1: it wants to interact with your product. Give me what
- 1:04:31Speaker 1: I want or give the people what they want.
- 1:04:34Speaker 2: But you won't even play online here, right.
- 1:04:36Speaker 1: But it's this isn't something dexter. Sometimes it's not all
- 1:04:40Speaker 1: about you, right, and it isn't about me, but like
- 1:04:44Speaker 1: the community as a whole. Right, Like I'm just one person,
- 1:04:48Speaker 1: and I'm I'm a small fish and a big pond,
- 1:04:52Speaker 1: and the big pond has said, we like to play
- 1:04:54Speaker 1: this ship online. Give them what they give them, give
- 1:04:57Speaker 1: them what they fucking want. Like if it if it isn't,
- 1:05:01Speaker 1: if it isn't your view, right, and that's not how
- 1:05:04Speaker 1: you and you do you Okay, well I didn't want
- 1:05:06Speaker 1: my game played this way. Well guess what, Sometimes you
- 1:05:09Speaker 1: create a thing that just becomes bigger than you, right,
- 1:05:12Speaker 1: and this seems to be one of those things. And
- 1:05:14Speaker 1: it's like, well, if this is what the players want,
- 1:05:18Speaker 1: give the players what they want. You've been so focused
- 1:05:21Speaker 1: on giving the players what do they want to the
- 1:05:23Speaker 1: detriment of the fucking company, then just why is this
- 1:05:27Speaker 1: the bridge that's too far? Do you know what I mean?
- 1:05:30Speaker 1: Like you you literally sunk your own company because you
- 1:05:33Speaker 1: made ship too cheap, but this is the bridge that's
- 1:05:36Speaker 1: too far. Well, online only gasp, clutch my pearls, right
- 1:05:41Speaker 1: means and the community, I think as far as a
- 1:05:50Speaker 1: business goes, I think I think from a business mind
- 1:05:54Speaker 1: point if I were and I can't what's his online
- 1:05:58Speaker 1: name the owner of Equinox.
- 1:06:02Speaker 3: Regis Yeah, is it really his real name?
- 1:06:06Speaker 2: Yeah?
- 1:06:07Speaker 1: It's like a.
- 1:06:07Speaker 3: Famous game designer.
- 1:06:08Speaker 1: Man, I've never heard of them before before he was
- 1:06:12Speaker 1: doing an interview online. But either way, you know, it's
- 1:06:15Speaker 1: like it's just one of those things where it's like,
- 1:06:17Speaker 1: you know it totally. I totally lost where I was
- 1:06:20Speaker 1: going with this, But like, if this is what the
- 1:06:22Speaker 1: players want, give them what they want. Don't be so hasty, right, Like,
- 1:06:28Speaker 1: people depend on you for their paycheck, and now there's
- 1:06:31Speaker 1: a bunch of people who aren't getting paychecks, which kind
- 1:06:34Speaker 1: of sucks. But I mean, again, this happens all the time, right,
- 1:06:37Speaker 1: there's nothing new about this. Companies go up and leave
- 1:06:40Speaker 1: and whatnot. So like, but just if players have said
- 1:06:44Speaker 1: this is how we want it, let them have it, right,
- 1:06:48Speaker 1: and then when that go on, then when that didn't,
- 1:06:51Speaker 1: and then when that fails, you could be like, well,
- 1:06:53Speaker 1: we gave you what you wanted. We did everything that
- 1:06:55Speaker 1: we could. Now it's no longer possible. We're sorry, guys.
- 1:06:59Speaker 3: But I think you're looking at it the wrong way.
- 1:07:04Speaker 3: I think they are doing exactly what you're asking for.
- 1:07:10Speaker 3: The problem is is you want them to convert it
- 1:07:13Speaker 3: to a digital only game when it does not exist
- 1:07:17Speaker 3: at all like that, and to convert it would cost money.
- 1:07:21Speaker 3: They don't have money, which is why.
- 1:07:24Speaker 1: I no know. But back up the back up the train.
- 1:07:30Speaker 1: It's already converted.
- 1:07:32Speaker 3: No, you mean it's not.
- 1:07:33Speaker 1: All you have to do is now figure out a
- 1:07:35Speaker 1: way to convert what you have to a digital property,
- 1:07:39Speaker 1: which you're right. Okay, so the next two sets haven't
- 1:07:41Speaker 1: been converted, right, No, okay.
- 1:07:45Speaker 3: How do you make money doing that?
- 1:07:48Speaker 1: But I'm not I am, I don't have an NBA.
- 1:07:51Speaker 1: I'm not a business person, right, Like that's I I
- 1:07:55Speaker 1: don't have the answers for you. But I'm sure there
- 1:07:58Speaker 1: are people out there in the world who have done
- 1:08:01Speaker 1: this before who are much better at it than I am. Right.
- 1:08:05Speaker 1: I run a pawn shop in Milwaukee, right, I know
- 1:08:07Speaker 1: how to successfully run upon shop in Milwaukee. Right. I
- 1:08:12Speaker 1: don't know how to successfully marketing campaign a digital online CCG. Right.
- 1:08:19Speaker 3: I think the problem is, but.
- 1:08:21Speaker 1: There are people out there who do who I can
- 1:08:23Speaker 1: then tell you don't know how to run upon shop
- 1:08:25Speaker 1: in Milwaukee, right.
- 1:08:26Speaker 3: So I think the problem there is you're assuming that
- 1:08:31Speaker 3: the game would make any amount of money if that
- 1:08:35Speaker 3: were the case, which it is not.
- 1:08:37Speaker 1: It makes its money, maybe it doesn't. Maybe maybe you're right,
- 1:08:43Speaker 1: but if you never try, you never know. Right. Obviously,
- 1:08:47Speaker 1: obviously there's at least fourteen hundred people out there who
- 1:08:51Speaker 1: are still interested.
- 1:08:53Speaker 3: Yeah, And that's to me, that's why I think they
- 1:08:57Speaker 3: are doing it.
- 1:08:57Speaker 1: And the number and the number of people, and what
- 1:08:59Speaker 1: I've found is the number of people who dig deeper
- 1:09:02Speaker 1: to visit a discord and visit anything that is significantly
- 1:09:09Speaker 1: out of the you know, the quote unquote normal realms
- 1:09:13Speaker 1: of being very casual at the game is normally about
- 1:09:16Speaker 1: ten percent. So there's a maybe a ninety percent of
- 1:09:19Speaker 1: a community out there that just isn't doing much with it, right,
- 1:09:24Speaker 1: but they'll play casually from time to time.
- 1:09:27Speaker 3: Buy someone out, you know, you want to know the
- 1:09:30Speaker 3: sad reality. I think it's actually better that all of
- 1:09:35Speaker 3: the employees get to ride it out until the end
- 1:09:39Speaker 3: of May and then get to be unemployed. And that
- 1:09:45Speaker 3: sounds crazy, but you know why I'm listening because they're
- 1:09:50Speaker 3: in Paris.
- 1:09:51Speaker 1: Okay.
- 1:09:52Speaker 3: It is not a bad thing to lose your job
- 1:09:54Speaker 3: in France. It means you have a year to just
- 1:09:57Speaker 3: fuck off and do whatever you want and be fine.
- 1:10:00Speaker 3: I'm I'm oversimplifying a ton, but yeah, I don't know.
- 1:10:05Speaker 1: Whatever it's, it's it's different in Paris than it is there. Again,
- 1:10:09Speaker 1: I just I think there's there's a whole community of
- 1:10:12Speaker 1: folks out there who again interact with this game. I
- 1:10:17Speaker 1: think I think you're leaving chips at the table, and
- 1:10:22Speaker 1: you know what, Listen, if he's okay with that and
- 1:10:25Speaker 1: everyone else is cool with that, cool right, Like it's
- 1:10:29Speaker 1: your game. I have this little to no say, and
- 1:10:33Speaker 1: by little I mean I have no say in how
- 1:10:35Speaker 1: you right off into the sunset. I just think, I,
- 1:10:41Speaker 1: you know, Wookie is the king of bad opportunities, right,
- 1:10:44Speaker 1: and I see an opportunity here. Whether it's good or bad,
- 1:10:49Speaker 1: nobody will ever know. And maybe that's a good thing.
- 1:10:51Speaker 1: I don't know. But at the same point, like it's like, ah, this,
- 1:10:56Speaker 1: there seems to be an opportunity here. Could we explore this?
- 1:11:01Speaker 1: And if they decide not, that's that's again, it's no
- 1:11:05Speaker 1: skin off my back if they don't decide to continue
- 1:11:08Speaker 1: that opportunity or you know, follow down that path. I
- 1:11:12Speaker 1: just think, you know, you you brought a whole bunch
- 1:11:14Speaker 1: of people into a game, into a world you created.
- 1:11:18Speaker 1: You got seven sets out of three years, two and
- 1:11:22Speaker 1: a half years, we'll call it.
- 1:11:24Speaker 3: A year and a half, a.
- 1:11:25Speaker 1: Year and a half. Has it really only been a
- 1:11:28Speaker 1: year and a half long? It? Does? You know? I
- 1:11:34Speaker 1: don't know. Again, it's totally up to them. I I
- 1:11:36Speaker 1: don't have any say so.
- 1:11:38Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I'll just say I respect them and
- 1:11:44Speaker 3: how they operate as a company, which might be uh,
- 1:11:50Speaker 3: harsh words for a lot of people to hear, but
- 1:11:54Speaker 3: it's remained true the entire time. Even if there's one
- 1:11:58Speaker 3: or two people within the company that I don't quite
- 1:12:02Speaker 3: respect as much, I've always appreciated their approach.
- 1:12:06Speaker 1: So let's see, I gotta go back to the notes.
- 1:12:10Speaker 1: I kind of lost where we were. Are we are?
- 1:12:12Speaker 1: We good? We got we went through everything right?
- 1:12:15Speaker 2: The final Patreon question, I mean.
- 1:12:19Speaker 1: We can't even say final because who knows, because like
- 1:12:21Speaker 1: all of a sudden, then like three.
- 1:12:22Speaker 2: Weeks later there'll be a damn an that comes out
- 1:12:26Speaker 2: and be like, what the hell is going on?
- 1:12:28Speaker 1: Nobody knows?
- 1:12:29Speaker 3: Is that Mega is still the thing?
- 1:12:30Speaker 1: So far too.
- 1:12:33Speaker 3: Everyone has Reunion is a thing?
- 1:12:37Speaker 1: Yeah, So I mean, you know, interact with the game,
- 1:12:39Speaker 1: you want to interact with it. If you all are
- 1:12:41Speaker 1: moving on to like Cyberpunk or whatever, move on. If
- 1:12:45Speaker 1: if you still want to play Altered, still play Altered. Right.
- 1:12:48Speaker 1: This is the thing that I could tell you is that,
- 1:12:50Speaker 1: like uh, card games with good followings tend to not
- 1:12:55Speaker 1: always die.
- 1:12:56Speaker 2: Out right, Like people are still going to play.
- 1:12:59Speaker 1: It's Star Wars like a Star Trek net Runner like
- 1:13:02Speaker 1: all these gay I mean ship L five R still
- 1:13:04Speaker 1: has quite a heavy following.
- 1:13:07Speaker 3: Surprisingly.
- 1:13:08Speaker 4: Yes, it has its own deck builder and it's all
- 1:13:10Speaker 4: online client right now, right, so you know if you.
- 1:13:13Speaker 3: Say online client for a game, Yeah, why didn't you
- 1:13:18Speaker 3: tell me about this earlier?
- 1:13:20Speaker 1: L five R? Yeah, now I'm going to know all
- 1:13:23Speaker 1: that you didn't know about it. This is an old
- 1:13:25Speaker 1: ULL five are Yeah, I.
- 1:13:27Speaker 3: Didn't know there was a good online client.
- 1:13:29Speaker 1: Yeah, they have an online client.
- 1:13:31Speaker 3: Yeah? Is it? Is it good?
- 1:13:33Speaker 1: I don't know.
- 1:13:34Speaker 3: I think it's good.
- 1:13:35Speaker 4: But it has its own deck builder and it's its
- 1:13:37Speaker 4: own online client, so it exists all right, People still
- 1:13:43Speaker 4: use it. It's not shut down or anything. It's mobile friendly.
- 1:13:46Speaker 4: You can play it on your phone.
- 1:13:48Speaker 1: Wow, we all know Coal's Cole's mobile friendly standards are
- 1:13:56Speaker 1: very high.
- 1:13:58Speaker 3: Yep, true, very high. Do you want to do a
- 1:14:03Speaker 3: very last question of the week for old time sake?
- 1:14:05Speaker 1: Sure, let's do it. Why not for actually it's that's
- 1:14:09Speaker 1: even in the notes. Why not for old times sake?
- 1:14:11Speaker 1: Question of the week? What is your favorite unique that
- 1:14:14Speaker 1: you have seen so far from Seeds of Unity? I
- 1:14:18Speaker 1: wouldn't know, Kenny, because I didn't get any.
- 1:14:23Speaker 2: Seeds of unity is before roots of corruption?
- 1:14:26Speaker 1: Oh shit, And I can't even make that joke.
- 1:14:28Speaker 2: Did you open any seeds of unity?
- 1:14:30Speaker 1: H No, I haven't even gotten mine yet. All right,
- 1:14:35Speaker 1: nobody's getting any of them, are they? No? I haven't gotten.
- 1:14:42Speaker 3: Oh boy, how have you not gotten yours? Where is?
- 1:14:45Speaker 2: You're definitely game? If you back to the game found
- 1:14:48Speaker 2: you should have definitely got. I got mine like two
- 1:14:53Speaker 2: or three weeks.
- 1:14:54Speaker 1: It might be in one of those that's in the
- 1:14:57Speaker 1: in the side of the room because I as you guys,
- 1:15:00Speaker 1: I don't know if I told you guys this, I
- 1:15:02Speaker 1: am re number one. I'm looking for a house. Yeah.
- 1:15:05Speaker 1: That has gobbled up all of my time, energy and everything.
- 1:15:10Speaker 1: I'm redoing my quote unquote studio AKA in my living room,
- 1:15:15Speaker 1: so like everything is a hot mess right now. There's
- 1:15:18Speaker 1: boxes over there, boxes over there, boxes over there. I
- 1:15:24Speaker 1: can't show you, but my my living room is a
- 1:15:26Speaker 1: hot mess right now. Yep.
- 1:15:28Speaker 3: Mine's my pinocchio. And I won't tell you what it is.
- 1:15:33Speaker 3: I will just tell you to play a game against
- 1:15:38Speaker 3: my taroon on BGA and you can see my pinocchio.
- 1:15:43Speaker 1: I wish got a pretty good ones.
- 1:15:46Speaker 2: I got a record tradesman and a record investor. The
- 1:15:49Speaker 2: record investor is a bureaucrat. It works great with Waru.
- 1:15:52Speaker 2: I've actually been playing some Waru with seeds. It's pretty fun.
- 1:15:56Speaker 2: It's not great, but I'm having fun with it, making
- 1:15:59Speaker 2: lots of Mannis seeds for myself, and then the other
- 1:16:02Speaker 2: one is basically a Sandman and ramp. It's great, great things.
- 1:16:10Speaker 1: I want to open all seeds of Unity.
- 1:16:15Speaker 3: That leaves Felix.
- 1:16:16Speaker 2: Have you got any good Seeds of Unity uniques?
- 1:16:19Speaker 3: No Unity cards outside of the ones in BGA.
- 1:16:24Speaker 2: Oh well you.
- 1:16:29Speaker 3: Need seeds of Unity and you're in Houston, Texas. You
- 1:16:32Speaker 3: can go to arc Light Gaming where they have everything
- 1:16:35Speaker 3: at twenty five percent off of MSRP.
- 1:16:39Speaker 1: Nice, yes, nice? All right, Well, we don't know if
- 1:16:44Speaker 1: this will be the end? What do we What do
- 1:16:47Speaker 1: we say? Last time we called it the end? Well,
- 1:16:49Speaker 1: how did how did we go about saying it?
- 1:16:52Speaker 3: I'm saying this. This is absolutely the end unless there
- 1:16:58Speaker 3: comes like crying demand in the streets for us to
- 1:17:01Speaker 3: cover something.
- 1:17:04Speaker 2: I agree with this sentiment. We're done, it's over.
- 1:17:08Speaker 3: If you you might hear me on Arcon's corner.
- 1:17:11Speaker 1: If I break over at Arcon's corner, he has come
- 1:17:16Speaker 1: to the next Dead card game. Uh yep.
- 1:17:18Speaker 3: We actually did record something with Emperor Ricu which I
- 1:17:23Speaker 3: thought really YouTube in a little bit, and it.
- 1:17:27Speaker 1: Is super so emper Rico. Uh yeah.
- 1:17:35Speaker 3: It was a lot of fun and it'll show you
- 1:17:36Speaker 3: how fucking gigabrain I am when it comes to card games.
- 1:17:40Speaker 1: So, I mean I would say, right, I don't know
- 1:17:43Speaker 1: if he's going to listen to this, but uh, I
- 1:17:46Speaker 1: mean I've I've spoken with Ricou. Ah yeah is uh
- 1:17:55Speaker 1: his English isn't bad. No, it's great, not great, it's great,
- 1:18:01Speaker 1: It's okay.
- 1:18:03Speaker 3: Well, how is your French or Vietnamese or Chinese non existent?
- 1:18:09Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 1:18:10Speaker 2: Languages and the freak job breaker for at least learning English.
- 1:18:15Speaker 1: Yeah yeah. And then they're they're all talking about going
- 1:18:19Speaker 1: to Vietnam, and I'm like, oh shit.
- 1:18:21Speaker 3: I would love to go to Vietnam and hang out
- 1:18:24Speaker 3: with some old viet Cong and give them high fives.
- 1:18:28Speaker 3: We're going scorched Earth on last episode.
- 1:18:31Speaker 1: I guess, so we are just killing it because yeah,
- 1:18:35Speaker 1: they were talking about going to Vietnam for the Vault Tour. Actually, France,
- 1:18:39Speaker 1: I think is getting its own Vault tour this year.
- 1:18:41Speaker 2: Too, France, and I know I know from future self
- 1:18:46Speaker 2: covered that Brazil is going to have one as well.
- 1:18:49Speaker 1: Oh yeah, good for Brazil, Good for Brazil. So all right, Well,
- 1:18:54Speaker 1: with that being sold said, everyone go fuck yourselves. This
- 1:18:57Speaker 1: is it. If you really want to hear it talk
- 1:19:00Speaker 1: about anything ever again, you gotta talk to Cole and
- 1:19:05Speaker 1: bother him in his discord. Don't bother me though. I
- 1:19:08Speaker 1: won't answer you because I don't check my discord. Nor
- 1:19:14Speaker 1: I actually do check my discord. No, I don't. I
- 1:19:17Speaker 1: have like fourteen friend requests that are all probably porn
- 1:19:20Speaker 1: bots right now.
- 1:19:21Speaker 2: Oh my gosh.
- 1:19:22Speaker 1: Yeah, sorry, kiddos.
- 1:19:27Speaker 3: I don't know.
- 1:19:27Speaker 1: I think that's might be always set it up. But
- 1:19:29Speaker 1: but that being said, we'll see you all never, so
- 1:19:31Speaker 1: go fuck yourselves.
- 1:19:32Speaker 2: Have a good night, everyone, see you all on Arcon's corner.
- 1:19:37Speaker 1: A much better show.
- 1:19:39Speaker 3: No, that's wrong, I'd like it better than you. Just
- 1:19:42Speaker 3: ended with, go fuck.
- 1:19:43Speaker 1: You have no proof, but go fuck yourself. We'll talk
- 1:19:47Speaker 1: late where
- 1:19:53Speaker 3: My s
