- 0:00The ego consciousness is deeply embedded in each human
- 0:03individual through the evolutionary process that
- 0:07created the ego as a mechanism for individuation and
- 0:11self-awareness. As the mental phase of this
- 0:14process took shape over long periods of time, the ego
- 0:19provided a needed framework to allow quite individual progress
- 0:24and development. Separated from the more
- 0:27collective expressions found in animal life.
- 0:30The ego provided an opportunity for mutation away from the
- 0:35established ways of the social community and thus actually
- 0:40acted as a foundational step in the development of the spiritual
- 0:44aspiration and focus. The next phase of evolution,
- 0:49however, is focused on overcoming the limitations of
- 0:53this consciousness by shifting the standpoint away from the ego
- 0:58to the divine standpoint. The power of aspiration, the
- 1:03tuning of the beings focused toward a higher energetic level,
- 1:07is the essence of the shift that can usher in this change.
- 1:12Sincerity and aspiration is basically the ability to remain
- 1:16focused at all times on this higher consciousness and not be
- 1:20distracted by the ego and its expectations, needs, demands and
- 1:26desires, Orbindo writes. Quote All sincere aspiration has
- 1:34its effect. If you are sincere, you will
- 1:37grow into the divine life. To be entirely insincere means
- 1:43to desire the Divine Truth only to surrender yourself more and
- 1:48more to the Divine Mother, to reject all personal demand and
- 1:52desire other than this one aspiration, to offer every
- 1:57action in life to the Divine and do it as the work given without
- 2:02bringing in the ego. This is the basis of the Divine
- 2:07life. 1 cannot become altogether this at once.
- 2:12But if one aspires at all times and calls in always the aid of
- 2:16the Divine Shakti, with a true heart and straightforward will,
- 2:21one grows more and more into this consciousness.
