- 0:05Be on its house us. Hello, and welcome to book watchers. H
- 0:47Patty where your host with the mouse? Name is Jacob And who are you
- 0:52again? Uh? The icon, I'm in an icon. Hi, I'm
- 0:57Devin. I am in everybody. Wow. By the time you're listening to
- 1:03this, it's it's probably how mean we haven't I haven't started posting the easy
- 1:08as you're probably hearing this in a couple of months because episodes put off because
- 1:14I want to make sure I have a lot. But you'll be if you're
- 1:15hearing this. We're posting again, yeah, because we stopped at freaking hell
- 1:21Raiser. Oh yeah, it's been a minute, like over a month since
- 1:25we were last recorded over Girl, over a month, almost a lot.
- 1:29Let me look up the last same we were. Yeah, but we're back
- 1:36at it again. Hopefully we'll be posting more regularly. It's been a minute.
- 1:45Uh, well not for y'all because August. It's been a minute.
- 1:48But you know, either here nor there. Yes, Carrie, we are
- 1:57talking continuing on our journeys through the horrors of actually we're not. We don't
- 2:05even have a thing. We're just going around kind of like in the ooky,
- 2:07spooky realm and we did Drassa Park and Hell Bound Heart and Hell Razor
- 2:13and now we're at Stephen King. We're doing today, We're doing Carrie,
- 2:21Stephen King's first novel. Oh yes, yeah. So for those of you
- 2:29who don't know who Carry is, I just I'm just curious. I'm about
- 2:35I'm just behooved, like behooved. Everyone knows Carrie. You may not,
- 2:42you may not realize, like, oh wait, Carrie Steve that was written
- 2:46by Stephen King. That was that movie that came out in me like early
- 2:50two tens or if you're if you're old, like the seventies. Oh god,
- 2:58yes, yes, Carry. Carry is a Stephen King novel. It
- 3:05was written by Stephen King in the Stone Age and by the Stone Age,
- 3:09I mean nineteen seventy four. Yeah, which it's pretty much the same thing.
- 3:20It's plea see here, So let me just get my notes. So
- 3:27the thing about Carry is Stephen King he originally wrote Carry to be like more
- 3:30of a short story for the men's magazine Cavalier. But after he really like
- 3:44he wasn't originally going to continue writing or like really published Carry because he just
- 3:52didn't think it was gonna be successful. But his wife at the time,
- 3:55Tabitha, I don't know, has he ever, I don't know Stephen kings
- 4:00on the line, but his wife convinced him to continue writing it, and
- 4:02he based a character carry on two girls he knew in high school and enjoy
- 4:06fabricating. He just he enjoyed writing on the subject. Yeah, So,
- 4:15after it was accepted, his editor, like, he worked with his editor
- 4:20at the time to revise it into a novel. So it was originally going
- 4:24to be so it was gonna just be a short story published in magazine,
- 4:28and then it got published and it got re written into a novel. So
- 4:34so for those of you who don't really know what Carries about, it's about
- 4:39this. It's about this young girl. She uh, Carrie was raised in
- 4:45a very it's kind of hard to describe the kind of house. Yeah,
- 4:55very very hyper religious household. Well i'll put it. I'll put it that
- 4:59way. Her mother had some very skewed beliefs on religion and things like that,
- 5:06viewing pretty much anything to do with sex or sexuality, even the most
- 5:11natural things like you know, you're puberty, your menstrual cycle. She viewed
- 5:18all of that is sin because I had to do with sex and everything,
- 5:23and her mom believed that, Like her mom just raised her to believe that
- 5:31anything like that was only caused by sex. So she was very sheltered,
- 5:38very like ignorant of how the world really works. So Carrie, because she
- 5:48didn't know anything about like just basic human functions, she was very surprised when
- 5:55she gets her first her first period, while shower the girls locker room at
- 6:00school. See the thing is carry is like sixteen years old, so this
- 6:03is very atypical for a young woman. Most girls, I don't I mean,
- 6:08I don't know. I'm not gonna go there. Usually girls have their
- 6:12period a lot younger, but for her, came pretty late, and because
- 6:17of this, she had a full down, full on meltdown because she didn't
- 6:20know what was going on. She all she knew that she was bleeding and
- 6:26and she needed help. So she started freaking out and the other girls in
- 6:30the locker room started making fun of her, especially one of the more popular
- 6:34girls named Chris Harginson. Remember this girl, she's she's the problem, she's
- 6:43a problem child. Here Chris begins mocking her even more viciously and starts throwing
- 6:48tampons at her and sanitary napkins at her and the other girls in the locker
- 6:55room began to do the same thing, and it only stops when the gym
- 7:00teacher, missus Rita Destardine, stops the whole thing and sends Carrie home after
- 7:10she after she gets Carrie cleaned up, her mother when she gets home,
- 7:16punishes her because she believes that Carrie has either been having sex or having sexual
- 7:24thoughts or whatever, and locks carry in a closet. You know, so
- 7:29really fucked up. This woman is really fucked up in the head. And
- 7:33like every oath, she gets me mad. I'm not very religious, but
- 7:39this woman just, oh my god, she is just so gears uh huh,
- 7:45really grinds my gears. And either way, the thing is like Carrie
- 7:50begins to realize that she has these abilities, these telekinetic abilities, like she
- 7:57can move objects with her mind, and she begins to explore them and her
- 8:01and her powers really begin to manifest, especially after the whole period incident,
- 8:05and she starts practicing in secret, you know, do more research and everything
- 8:15on her own. This I'm just gonna put this out there. Carrie is
- 8:20not a very long story. Like I said, It's originally meant to be
- 8:24a short novel published in a magazine, but then it was rewritten into a
- 8:28novel itself, so the story is pretty straightforward. Immediately after this whole incident,
- 8:35Jim Teacher missed death, start in reprimands and punishes the girls that blake
- 8:45Carry and gives them a week's detention. The popular girl Chris Harginson, she
- 8:48didn't want to comply with any of the any of the punishment, and she
- 8:52is then suspended and excluded from the upcoming prom. She gets her dad in
- 8:58and on it, but he doesn't. He's no help because you know,
- 9:01her fault. He's the one at fault here, not Carrie or the gym
- 9:07teacher. So Chris decides to take to get revenge against Carrie because you know,
- 9:16that's what that's what pretty girls like Chris though apparently Yeah, well anyway,
- 9:26we got a real Regina George here. Yeah, And aside from Chris,
- 9:31there's another popular girl named Sue. Sue she did she did jump in
- 9:37on the whole like hazing thing in the locker room when it happened, but
- 9:41afterwards she did feel bad and regretted her actions, so she decides to make
- 9:46it up to Carry and asked her boyfriend Tommy Ross to invite Carrie to her
- 9:52to the promise set of her and you know, and when he does,
- 10:00Carrie is suspicious because she's been she's often the target of bullying. So but
- 10:07she accepts the invitation and she actually sews her own dress for the for prompt.
- 10:15Meanwhile, Chris is she gets her boyfriend, a guy named Billy Nolan
- 10:20and his gang of So does this happened in the seventies? Like the book
- 10:24portrays them as greasers. For those of you who don't know who greasers are,
- 10:28you look it up, you have Google. I'm not going to sit
- 10:31here and explain everything all day. Anyway, Grease his Billy Nolan and his
- 10:39gang. They they managed to get several buckets of pigs blood. And while
- 10:46Chris she like begins to rake the prompt the prom election for King and Queen
- 10:54in Carrie's favor, so you know the prompt. When prom it comes,
- 11:00it actually goes well. Tommy's friends are actually very friendly to Carry and you
- 11:05know, Tommy himself actually finds he actually likes Carry as friends, like,
- 11:09oh hey, this chick's not that bad. But Chris, she actually manages
- 11:16to rig the election and carry and Tommy are elected prompt King and Queen.
- 11:22However, you know, just as Carrie is being coronated, she's she was
- 11:28given the flowers, the prom queen crown and everything. Chris Chris, from
- 11:35a distance, dumps blood, the buckets of pig blood, onto Carry and
- 11:41Tommy's heads. When she does this, one of the buckets actually fall from
- 11:46the rafters and hits Tommy on the head and it kills him because it's a
- 11:50heavy metal bucket. Yeah, unfortunately. So I think it is is that
- 11:56when this happens, the entire the entire auditorium begins to laugh at Harry,
- 12:05like, I don't know about you, but like the people in the seventies,
- 12:09like and I don't know, like if that were to happen, like
- 12:11in today's day and age, a bunch of pigs blood is dumped on a
- 12:16person, I don't know about you, but I wouldn't be laughing. I
- 12:18would be shocked, like, yeah, like, what the fuck just happened?
- 12:24Like this, Like who would do that? Right alone? Someone's down
- 12:28the ground them I know exactly too. That would be even more shocking.
- 12:33I wouldn't be laughing. I'd be like, oh my god, what the
- 12:35fuck? Just happened, right, but no they okay, yeah, exactly
- 12:43right, but no, all these assholes begin to laugh and make fun of
- 12:46her. So like the thing is here's like I'm just gonna go ahead and
- 12:50point this out now, like the big difference between the movies and the book.
- 12:56Carrie actually leaves the auditorium. She leaves the or the gymnasium, feeling
- 13:03humiliated, and when she's outside, you know, she's she's still freaking out.
- 13:07But then she remembers, wait a second, I have telekinesis, and
- 13:11she decides to get revenge for being tormented, so she uses her powers and
- 13:20she actually seals the gym from the outside. So she makes sure's all the
- 13:24doors, She makes sure that all the doors inside are clothes no one can
- 13:28get out, and she she triggers the sprinkler system inside the gym. And
- 13:35because there's all this is the seventies and and proper safety measures when it comes
- 13:41to electronics wasn't a thing back then, all that electronic equipment that's inside the
- 13:45gymnasium get exposed, like gets wet, and she ends up electrocuting most of
- 13:50the people in the gym, and this also causes a fire to to break
- 13:58out in the gym and burns everything to the ground, and you know,
- 14:05a few students and a few of the faculty actually managed to escape the gym.
- 14:11Carrie, she's so overwhelmed by rage that like, when the fire department
- 14:15begins to like, you know, show up, she actually she actually starts
- 14:20sabotaging their efforts to fight the fire. And the way she does that is
- 14:24she starts like destroying the fire hydrants that are within the school's vicinity, and
- 14:28then she starts destroying other things like around the town. So like she starts
- 14:33making her way home, and as she's going, she's destroying gas stations,
- 14:37she's cutting power lines, she destroys several buildings. She actually and in the
- 14:43end, she actually ends up killing like hundreds of people. And as she's
- 14:48doing this, it reveals that Carrie also has another ability, and that's telepathy,
- 14:54and she's using her telepathy to like broadcast a message to the people around
- 14:58her telling them that it was her. You know, she's the one doing
- 15:03it. Yeah, this is all done by Carrie. And when Carrie returns
- 15:09gets back to her house, she's confronted by her mother, who believes that
- 15:13she's been possessed by Satan and tries to kill her. The book hints that
- 15:22her mom like like her mom is like very abusive, not only physically but
- 15:26emotionally and mentally, and she begins telling Carrie like, you know, she
- 15:31regrets having her things like that, and that she was that her birth and
- 15:35conception was a mistake, and kind of hints that Carrie's mom was her artword
- 15:43was her artword by her her dad, And in the end, Carry's mom's
- 15:50ends up stabbing her and Carrie uses her to telepathy to stop Margaret's her mother's
- 15:58heart, and she leaves the house. She ends up making her way to
- 16:04this to this roadhouse where apparently she was conceived. When she's there, she
- 16:11actually runs into Chris and her boyfriend Billy, and Billy attempts to run over
- 16:18Carrie, but she takes control of his car and sends it into a wall,
- 16:22which kills both him and Chris. Sue, in the meantime, had
- 16:27been following Carrie's broadcast and finds her collapse in a parking lot and she's bleeding
- 16:33out like when his when her mom stabbed her, it was it was a
- 16:37fatal stab and she's now bleeding she's going to bleed to death. Carrie actually
- 16:45like almost kills Sue, but she with her telepathy, she realizes that Sue
- 16:52and Tommy had nothing to do with the prank she as she originally thought,
- 17:00and she ends up forgiving her but she dies. Really it was really sad.
- 17:04She ends up dying. She's still crying out for her mom, but
- 17:07like, you know, what's her mom gonna do? And you know,
- 17:12the aftermath of the whole incident causes a state of It causes a state of
- 17:18emergency, and a lot of the survivors end up leaving this leaving the town
- 17:26this time. I forgot to mention that this takes place in let you see
- 17:33here Chamberlain, Maine. Yeah, so, and which is typical of Stephen
- 17:41King. He tends to Yeah, he tends to set up his h A
- 17:45lot of his novels settings are somewhere in Maine or in that New England area.
- 17:52Either way, Uh, Chamberlain, that's the town, that's Chamberlaine ends
- 18:00up getting government assistance. A lot of the uh, the school principle and
- 18:06the and the coach, the miss just Jargeine end up resigning from their teaching
- 18:11positions because they blame themselves. Sue ends up publishing a memoir Powder Experience,
- 18:19and apparently there was like an investigation into the paranormal activity that happened in May
- 18:29in that town, and it concludes that there are possibly others like Carry and
- 18:36it leaves it open that there might have been another like, there might have
- 18:41been another like book or like a sequel. Well, that's that's That's the
- 18:45thing about Stephen King is a lot of his books and with like are very
- 18:51open ended when they end. So we'll be seeing this a lot. So
- 18:56after Carrie, we're going to be reviewing a few other Stephen King books like
- 18:59The Miss and It's and so on and these movies. I'm sorry, these
- 19:07books have like a lot of open ended endings, leaving room for possibility of
- 19:15a continuation in the story. But then, of course Stephen King is not
- 19:18one to like make sequels, like he he does from time to time,
- 19:26like The Shining of course with Doctor Sleep and that don't get me started on
- 19:32the whole Dark Tower series, oh, which is like sure we will cover
- 19:38at some point. Yeah, we'll get to it. Yeah before it Now,
- 19:45that's pretty much it. The story. The book itself is pretty short,
- 19:48it's only like two three hundred pages. I actually read it like within
- 19:53a couple of days. It's one hundred and ninety nine pages. Okay,
- 19:57it's not even two hundred pages. I read. I ended up finishing it
- 20:00like within a day or two. And it's a really it's a really easy
- 20:06read, and it's enjoyable. It's definitely it's a classic. It's very iconic.
- 20:11It's been adapted into as I just found out, four different movies music,
- 20:19including and a musical. Yeah, yeah, a musical. So of
- 20:27course we have the original Carrie movie that was public that which was released in
- 20:33ninety nine and seventy nine, Is that right? No? The movie?
- 20:41The original movie was seventy six. Seventy six. Cool? Oh, like
- 20:48literally see that this is like two years later, I know. Like see,
- 20:53That's the thing about Stephen King is like his novels are very good.
- 20:57He does not hold back, and they went a lot of points in Hollywood
- 21:03and oftentime gets adapted. Like didn't Doctor Sleep come out like a few years
- 21:07before the movie? Did he? Yeah? Yeah, I most certainly did
- 21:14this movie. Filming of the movie took place. Guys, does it say
- 21:18what year? No, it does not say what year. What I can
- 21:23tell, it looks like pretty much when they released the book, they started
- 21:29working on the movie not too long after. Pretty much, That's what it
- 21:32looks like. Yeah, because they were already casting roles and stuff. And
- 21:41but yeah, I think they didn't waste too much time in working on it
- 21:45getting the first one started anyway. Yeah, but other than the first one,
- 21:51I mean, the first one wasn't a hu faithful to the to the
- 21:56book. I mean rarely movies are faithful to the to the book, of
- 22:03course, but still it's an instant It was an instant classic since it was
- 22:07made in the seventies. It was definitely, like I thought, a lot
- 22:12of what went on in the movie was pretty stiff. There wasn't much they
- 22:17could do to explore Carrie's ability to control, like to move objects with her
- 22:21mind, if anything like the way that I personally didn't like the the final
- 22:33scene where she starts killing everybody in the gym, at least on this in
- 22:37the original movie. I didn't really like that scene very much because carry herself
- 22:41looked very like like the I guess this term would be shell shocked. She
- 22:48looked very like like petrified. And yeah, wasn't that was the that was
- 22:55the point of it, because I know in the book she purposely, like
- 22:59I'm when you event purposely this is the stuff is the event of the pigs
- 23:04blood and the factor date literally is on the ground she went into like a
- 23:11stock and kind of and the tell Knesus bit just happened without her really realizing
- 23:18it's happening. She's just angry and pissed and again, like he said,
- 23:22shell shocked. So she's doing it out of reaction, not planned. Yeah,
- 23:29there's like, yeah, so it was really and I mean it's possible,
- 23:33and I think in its own way, it makes it seem more shocking
- 23:36because it's like she's completely lose lost control. Yeah, but I personally liked
- 23:41the twenty thirteen remakes, we both do. It definitely explores more of how
- 23:49it definitely goes into more of how Carrie explores her tell kinesis and you know,
- 23:53of course it it like these is the fact that this is twenty thirteen.
- 23:59We have technology and everything, and she doesn't just go to library and
- 24:02read books like she did in the in the original book. In the movie,
- 24:04but she actually goes she actually goes online. She looks up videos and
- 24:11apparently other occurrences of like telekinesis, because she wants to she wants to understand
- 24:17what she's like, what this is, and she wants to see if she
- 24:19was, you know, if she's the only one right. It's just understandable.
- 24:22We all want to find our place and we want to want to find
- 24:26that reassurance that we're not alone, and she does that, and really like
- 24:33the performance by the Oh god, hold let me look at the cast.
- 24:41Sorry, sorry, sorry, Carrie Chloe Grace Mortesse is how you say her?
- 24:51The last name? I who thought it was Marette's Matt. Yeah.
- 24:56I love her as Carrie. Oh god, the Porsche Double Day I loved
- 25:06and I loved her portrayal of Chris Harginson because, oh my god, she
- 25:14was Her character was a fucking can I say this? Can I say the
- 25:19C word? Or are we trying? Yes? Okay, thank god.
- 25:23She was like she was a capital C cunt, Like, oh my god,
- 25:29this girl was. She She gives Regina Regina George a run for her
- 25:33money period, Like she was just a monster, like an awful person.
- 25:41She was a monster and like she is. Also, she's definitely very narcissistic
- 25:48because she absolutely she plays the victim, right, like, oh, well,
- 25:52I'm the victim, Like, oh, I was, like, I
- 25:56didn't do shit, I'm the victim here. It was Carrie. That's like
- 26:00bullying me. But then there's literal video evidence of Chris. Yeah, that
- 26:07says otherwise of Chris bullying Carrie, of throwing tampons at her while she's having
- 26:11her period, and you know, and then when she's caught, she refuses
- 26:17to take responsibility and instead tries to pin it on other people. And you
- 26:23know, she gets she the way she like orchestrates the whole pig blood thing.
- 26:29You know, she's very It shows how very unhinged she she was,
- 26:33and like, oh, I just loved it. It wasn't she did it.
- 26:37She did a great job. They had a great cast, Chloe Grays,
- 26:41Jillian More, fucking Judy Garland, like they had a good such a
- 26:45big cast for this. Yeah, and ye from scene, I would say
- 26:56it's kind of a mix of the two takes, like it's the I would
- 27:02say, in the beginning, it's kind of the uncontrollable just anger of her
- 27:07losing it. Then it kind of turns into Carrie leaning into it, like
- 27:11you know what fuck this shit, I'm gonna fuck everyone up. M So
- 27:17it's kind of like that's the way I seen anyways, that she kind of
- 27:21loses control and then she's like, oh, okay, I know what,
- 27:25I know what this is, and she then just kind of really leans into
- 27:27it, not like deer in the headlights like in the original Carrie the first
- 27:33Carry film. Yeah, and you know, she I like this better because
- 27:37she was definitely I like the fact that she was in control, she knew
- 27:41what she was doing. And also I like the fact that even while she's
- 27:47about to kill literally kill the ship out of everybody in that entire room,
- 27:51she still made sure that only certain people got hurt, like her gym teacher,
- 27:56Miss des Jardine. She made sure she you know her, and actually
- 28:02try to like you know, actually got her out of the way, out
- 28:06of harm's way. And then you know, just the way how it was
- 28:11just really brutal, like the way that she ends up killing everybody. You
- 28:15know, she electrocues people, she strangles people, She actually traps this one
- 28:21dude, and like those like you know, like some gymnasiums have those,
- 28:25yeah, they have those bleachers. Yeah. Yeah, she actually like fucking
- 28:30evistrates one guy by doing that, and then like, also, I love
- 28:33how she immediately knows that it was Chris that did this. It's like,
- 28:38so she immediately knew that Chris was the one responsible, right, And she
- 28:41even sees Chris and Gymnasium and she actually tracks and she actually like chases them
- 28:48down, and I love how everything's exploding around her as she's going down the
- 28:53goddamn road. Uh huh. And then when the crap car cracked what's it
- 29:00called when Chris is like run her over, run her over, baby,
- 29:06and she just stops the car deadon's tracks and her face gets caught in the
- 29:10wind chilled before she sends him still brutal, before she sends her into a
- 29:15gas station and the car explodes. I mean, the bitch had conra well.
- 29:21Actually, like she sends her into a gas station, right, And
- 29:23that's like that's the part where like, yeah, Chris like gets completely gets
- 29:30a windshieled facial and everything, but like she she walks away and the way
- 29:34she like blows up the gas station, she like knocks down a power line,
- 29:40yeah, and it ignites the gas station, which I was just like
- 29:42it kind of looked like she was like huh, like okay, it was
- 29:48like she's gonna walk away and she's like nah, blows him up. And
- 29:52then the two twins, the twin goth chicks that were also bullying her,
- 29:59She forces the leave, forced them to the floor as anyone's stepping on them
- 30:03and crush and I'm assuming crushed them because they I'm assuming they died. It
- 30:07looked like they Yeah, they didn't come back up, so they're trampled by
- 30:10heels and shoes and ship. Dude. There was one part where like this
- 30:14one chick like actually steps on one of them. You could see her heel
- 30:17like just drive into the to the cord girl's back and I was just like
- 30:22And then there was that one that the fire cut onto the dress because you
- 30:26know, fun fact, a lot of prom dresses are flammable, So she
- 30:32just got caught on fires of gasoline. Yes, but the way that the
- 30:37dress, what the dress was made out of, is very flammable, right,
- 30:41Yeah, she just turned to a crispy corpse. Yeah, the CGI
- 30:49people rag on the CG on this film. But the way she was like
- 30:52floating up in the air and she looks so good, so good, right,
- 30:59right, Like they they absolutely did a good job in that movie,
- 31:03Darlin to be surprised we get another remake. I'm sure at some point,
- 31:08Yeah, at some point they're probably gonna make another remake, but it's probably
- 31:11I could be for another ten years or so. It's been about Yeah.
- 31:15Literally, it'll be ten years this October when this episode gets released next month,
- 31:22on October eighteenth, it would be ten years since the release of this
- 31:26of the twenty thirteen version. Damn, it would be ten years here,
- 31:32I like, god, damn, I was just over here, like I
- 31:36graduated. Blowe was sixteen. She was six She was sixteen when she did
- 31:44that movie. When she did Carry in twenty thirteen, she was sixteen years
- 31:45old, because she's twenty six right now. Yeah, yeah, she was
- 31:52sixteen doing Carrie. I don't know why. When Carrie came out, I
- 31:57thought she was a lot older. You would think you would think I thought
- 32:02so too, But now she's like sixteen, huh. Of course she also
- 32:09did other movies, like she did the oh god, what's it called?
- 32:15What's that? One movie called Dark Shadows with Oh Yeah, which I end
- 32:22up she was the werewolf, which again iconic. I love her and that
- 32:28so good. Again, she was like fifteen in that a literal preteen doing
- 32:34horror films. She wasn't. She was a young scream queen back in the
- 32:37day. I know. I was like, I haven't seen her in anything
- 32:43recently. She's been on She's she does Wednesday Adams and the Adams Family animated
- 32:51films. Yeah, she also's done I think she's done a lot more of
- 32:58TV because she's on a show called The She's not an Amazon series and she's
- 33:05been doing that since twenty twenty two. So she's doing like a sci fi
- 33:08drama called The Receiver. No, not the Preceiver, Oh my god,
- 33:15the I don't know how to pronounced that name. How to pronounce that my
- 33:21dyslexi is kicking in. Uh, I'm gonta put in the chat see if
- 33:27you can guess it, because I don't. I'm even gonna try to pronounce
- 33:30that my mind is doing tricks and flips on me. The peripheral peripheral.
- 33:36Yes, that she's been doing that since twenty since twenty twelve, and she's
- 33:42and she's the lead role for that. Oh okay, So she's been on
- 33:46Amazon and she all said Tom and Jerry. She has one of the main
- 33:52characters for that, and then she did like a weird, smaller post apocalyptic
- 33:57sci fi phone called Mother Slash Android. I think Netflix released, but no,
- 34:02sorry, Hulu release it in the States and Netflix are released outside the
- 34:07States, so I think you could find that one on Hulu. Yeah,
- 34:12she hasn't really done anything like huge, huge since. I think her last
- 34:16big one was she was in kick Ass, she was in the Fifth Wave,
- 34:23Neighbors, Neighbors too. Oh, she was always also in Superior the
- 34:30remake, and Greta. I would say Greta is probably our last big girl
- 34:36when I was in twenty eighteen. She's been kind of just keeping low,
- 34:43keeping a low profile, I guess, or being more particular on what she
- 34:51on she wants to do, which Girl, Queen Work, Girl Boss.
- 34:58Yeah, but she does have an animated film from Netflix coming out in June
- 35:06or by the time this episode gets out, it's already out. It's called
- 35:09No Numana Namona and I Am O Na, where she plays like a what
- 35:17is it succubus, A shape shifter. Okay, it's an lgb It looks
- 35:23at me an LGBTQ show or themes. Yeah, yeah, yeah, it
- 35:32sounds it sounds good. But just real quick, let's just to get back
- 35:38to Carry. Let's go ahead, and like, really Carry is definitely More
- 35:43is definitely a classic. Yeah, and it's definitely one of it's more.
- 35:46It's definitely Stephen King's more recognizable works right next to it, and I just
- 35:55shining, and you know, I'm like, I always recommend read the book
- 36:02and of course watch them, like, of course watch the movie. Like
- 36:06this is definitely one of the few movies that it's one of the few movies
- 36:13that I would say, yeah, it definitely did something right. Yeah.
- 36:19And the thing that Stephen king novels is that just because of how they're written,
- 36:23they can be interpreted and they can be adapted in any which way you
- 36:27want, and it would still probably work. Yeah, pretty much. So
- 36:35watch read the book, read the book, watch the movie. Depending on
- 36:38which movie you watch doesn't matter. You know, always want to If you're
- 36:44a big movie buff and you just want to watch the classic, go ahead
- 36:45and watch the classic. If you're like us who want watches the movies because
- 36:50they're good, We've definitely watched the twenty thirteen remake. I won't I can't
- 36:55really say much about the two thousand and two TV release movie because I've never
- 37:00seen it. I didn't even know it existed until literally today day of this
- 37:05recording. Yeah, and then also, if you want to watch it,
- 37:09Justice gets your own opinion on it. There is technically a sequel to carry
- 37:15the original. Yeah, there's a sequel to the nineteen seventy six carried called
- 37:22Carry two. The what what was it called carry two? It was called
- 37:25The Rage Carry two? Right, It was weird because really it was just
- 37:32about so apparently she has a half sister and pretty much like same shit.
- 37:37Her half sister has teleconniss and gets bullied and eventually she snaps and kills everybody
- 37:45in the movie. When she snaps, like, she has this tattoo on
- 37:47her shoulder of a rose, and when she snaps, like the tattoo begins
- 37:52to change shape and like like the vines coming off of the of the rose
- 37:58begins to like stretch all of her an extend all over her body, and
- 38:01it's just like, I mean, girl work, but at the same time
- 38:07the fuck. Yeah, pretty much. But other than that, that was
- 38:15carried by Stephen King. I hope you enjoyed it, So thank you guys
- 38:25for listening to today's episode. It's a little bit shorter than normal, but
- 38:30again, Carrie is a very short book. It's not very long, under
- 38:35capping under two hundred pages, so read it up. Reading. We watch
- 38:40the movies. They're everywhere you can. I'm sure you can find one of
- 38:44them somewhere. One's dreaming. But yeah, yeah, and that's it.
- 38:52I mean, does you have anything else to drop? I don't know.
- 38:58Next week? What did you want to go ahead? And? Oh?
- 39:00Why did we doing next? What is next week? Did we did we
- 39:04plan that? I don't remember what next week was? For sure, we
- 39:07did start playing some stuff. I know, like, hold up, we
- 39:12pull up the calendar. I think we want I think we're gonna we were
- 39:15gonna start doing D and D stories. I might I'm gonna add that part
- 39:21out, but like, but I might, I might put I mean I
- 39:24might put might push those back because I don't have anything. I don't have
- 39:31it. Does the read yet? Uh? I think the next thing that
- 39:37we haven't done as of yet was the I know we were one we had.
- 39:44I took a bunch of them off because I didn't know we were going
- 39:45to record again for when they call it four book watchers. I know we're
- 39:51I know I put down the The Ring series, the Ringo books. I
- 39:58don't have those. I can lend you the first one if you like,
- 40:07well you know, for those episodes or are you want men wheel those I
- 40:10can wheel though, we can reverse it and I talk about Okay, so
- 40:15just just make sure to edit this part up. But let's go ahead close
- 40:19out the episode, so you know, for next week, let's just go
- 40:21ahead and do another We're gonna just go ahead and do another Stephen King book.
- 40:24Just give you it was everybody time to prepare for anything else. After
- 40:29that, we'll go ahead and review fire Starter. Fire Starter. Oh okay,
- 40:37yep, Stephen Kings fire Starter. It's very okay. So so next
- 40:43week, people, we are gonna be reviewing Stephen King's fire Starter. For
- 40:47those of you who have never heard of it, definitely tune in. You're
- 40:51gonna enjoy it. For those of you who have, just give you a
- 40:53little idea, think Carrie but with a little but with Pier Kennys. I've
- 41:00heard the movies were trashed the no comment on that until next I will not
- 41:07comment on that just yet, but uh yeah, definitely take a gander at
- 41:14us next week. Yeah, okay, well until then, y'all, Bye
- 41:22bye jenks,
