• 1:52
Speaker 1: I did too, I really did, which kind of surprised me it is.
• 1:59
Speaker 1: And you know, when we do the review, I may or may not talk about it, but the thing that's very interesting to me about it is it's not the Chevy or GMC 1500, it's a completely different vehicle and they had to do it that way to actually make it a complete EV, because they're doing it differently than Ford's doing the F-150 Lightning, and boy they did it right.
• 2:37
Speaker 3: There's still cues from the.
• 2:39
Speaker 1: Oh, absolutely yeah absolutely there are, but independent rear suspension.

• 2:50
  Speaker 2: Avalanche Avalanche, yes.
• 2:52
Speaker 1: Which is very unique and cool.
• 2:54
Speaker 1: Actually, it extends the six-foot bed to a ten-foot bed.
• 2:58
Speaker 1: If you want to bring the nose of the car that you're putting in the bed Any extra lumber or stuff you need to haul.
• 3:05
Speaker 3: Your canoe or your paddle board Canoe, canoe.
• 3:08
  Speaker 1: Canoe, canoe.
• 3:09
Speaker 1: Do you remember that commercial?
• 3:11
Speaker 3: I canoe, you canoe.
• 3:13
Speaker 3: You were an English leather guy.
• 3:14
Speaker 3: He was a sterling silver guy.
• 3:17
Speaker 3: Alright now that we did the car review, let's move on Our guest thinks it's funny.
• 3:22
Speaker 2: I know Melissa Farrell.
• 3:24
Speaker 1: Texas Triumph Registry Car Club is with us.
• 3:27
Speaker 1: Melissa, good morning to you.
• 3:28
Speaker 1: Good morning to you.
• 3:29
Speaker 1: Well, I hope we didn't bore you too much with all of that.
• 3:32
Speaker 1: Not that you would remember any of those men's colognes from back in the day.
• 3:36
Speaker 1: I remember some of them, yeah yeah, yeah, let's see Name another one English.
• 3:45
Speaker 2: Leather, english, leather High Karate there, let's see name.
• 3:46
Speaker 1: Another one english leather, english leather karate, that guy with the glasses, that's.
• 3:51
Speaker 1: That's a great one, great commercial.
• 3:53
Speaker 1: Well, we're not going to talk about that.
• 3:54
Speaker 1: We're going to talk about the texas triumph registry car club.
• 3:57
Speaker 1: And you know, when I saw that you were going to visit us today, I thought you know what triumph always had a step above in my mind.
• 4:08
Speaker 1: And I know nothing about the two cars, the mg and the triumph, it's all I could think of.
• 4:13
Speaker 1: And I thought, wow, the triumph was always the one that had the looks and, uh, I know that they, they made a hot rod version of it.
• 4:22
Speaker 1: They were kind of like a step above, more of a Euro style.
• 4:26
  Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
• 4:29
Speaker 4: I don't want to step on any toes, but I agree with you.
• 4:33
  Speaker 1: Good, thank you.
• 4:34
Speaker 1: Thank you very much.
• 4:35
Speaker 1: So obviously you must have a Triumph.
• 4:40
Speaker 4: I have a couple of Triumphs I do.
• 4:42
Speaker 4: What years are they?
• 4:42
Speaker 4: I have a couple of Triumphs I do.
• 4:43
Speaker 4: What years are they?
• 4:46
Speaker 4: This is a TR3B Triumph and it was a little four-cylinder.
• 4:55
Speaker 4: I'll step out and maybe you can see a little more of it.
• 4:57
Speaker 4: I wish I could turn my camera around, but I'm lucky to get sand, because at first I didn't have sand.
• 5:06
Speaker 1: It looks good, it looks fine.
• 5:07
Speaker 1: Yeah, it's cool Very nice, yeah, over here.
• 5:12
Speaker 4: But 3B came out after the 4.
• 5:14
Speaker 4: The 4 came out and they weren't going to make any more 3s.
• 5:19
Speaker 4: So the dealers, you know, were talking about the 4, and everybody said, no, I want another 3.
• 5:28
Speaker 4: So, triumph and their wisdom, which happens sometimes they put all parts together and they made the TR-3B.
• 5:42
Speaker 1: What year is that?
• 5:43
  Speaker 4: It's a 62, but it wasn't titled until 63.
• 5:48
Speaker 4: So my husband always called it a 63, but 62 was the year the 3B came out.
• 5:54
Speaker 1: It looks like a show car.
• 5:55
Speaker 1: It looks brand new.
• 5:58
Speaker 4: Oh, it is our pride and joy.
• 6:00
Speaker 4: My husband passed last year.
• 6:02
Speaker 1: I'm sorry to hear that he loved working on the cars and I helped him joy.
• 6:03
Speaker 4: My husband passed last year.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: I'm sorry to hear that.
• 6:04
Speaker 4: Yeah, he loved working on the cars and I helped him.
• 6:08
Speaker 4: I was the gopher and I knew enough to help and I could do interiors, I could do that.
• 6:17
Speaker 1: Did he restore that car himself?
• 6:20
Speaker 4: Well, we did, we did it ourselves a long time ago.
• 6:24
Speaker 4: I uh, 2000 was when it was finally finished and uh, uh, we.
• 6:33
Speaker 4: Well, it still needed interior, which I did that part.
• 6:36
Speaker 4: And uh, well, I didn't do the back.
• 6:40
Speaker 4: Let me show you back.
• 6:41
Speaker 4: It's crazy, I can, I don't know if it's, oh, yeah, we see it, there's a lot of it.
• 6:46
Speaker 4: Yes, there's a lot of detail with the leather in the back and we had to take it to an upholstery place.
• 6:56
Speaker 4: They did a beautiful job.
• 6:57
Speaker 4: They were just awesome.
• 6:59
Speaker 1: Well, the whole car looks beautiful, very nice.
• 7:01
Speaker 1: Have you had it appraised?
• 7:05
  Speaker 4: No, we haven't.
• 7:06
Speaker 4: My husband was not at all interested in selling it and we had some offers.
• 7:15
Speaker 4: We had one guy that I think had probably had too much to drink.
• 7:19
Speaker 4: He offered us $50,000.
• 7:21
  Speaker 4: $50,000.
• 7:22
Speaker 1: Because his girlfriend liked it All right, let me ask you this, that'll do it.
• 7:28
Speaker 1: How do you, if you have not had it appraised, how do you insure it?
• 7:34
Speaker 4: It's classic car insurance.
• 7:36
Speaker 4: My husband started that and I didn't really look at it, I just yeah, let's just keep it going, just renew it.
• 7:43
  Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
• 7:44
Speaker 3: Okay, so you said, you have another one besides this.
• 7:48
Speaker 3: Is that above it.
• 7:49
Speaker 3: We froze her up.
• 7:55
Speaker 4: Oh no, there she is.
• 7:57
Speaker 2: There you go, we got you back, okay.
• 7:59
Speaker 4: Okay, it's in the shop and you can see.
• 8:04
Speaker 4: The steering wheel is up here on the workbench.
• 8:08
Speaker 1: Yes, we see that but there's a club member that he goes yeah, your internet's not very good over in that part of the building so, melissa, if you can hear us, we need to get you to go back outside so we can make sure that your cell phone signal picks up outside, if you don't mind doing that for us.
• 8:34
  Speaker 4: No, I don't mind.
• 8:35
  Speaker 1: Okay, all right.
• 8:36
Speaker 1: Well, let me ask you another question here regarding the club, the Texas Triumph Registry Car Club.
• 8:44
Speaker 1: Yes, sir, Did you guys found that, or are you just members of it?
• 8:48
Speaker 4: No, no, mike Hato founded it.
• 8:50
Speaker 4: At the time we had just moved here and we were into autocrossing and we didn't join the club.
• 9:01
Speaker 4: For a couple of years we were doing SCCA and there wasn't a lot of time to do everything, sure, but about two years after it had started we joined, uh, uh, ttr and it's, it's, a wonderful club, um, very inclusive of everything.
• 9:19
Speaker 4: If it they don't even.
• 9:21
Speaker 4: You know, if you have an MG or an El Camino, you can still come, you can still come here An El Camino.
• 9:29
Speaker 1: Do you happen to have an El Camino?
• 9:31
Speaker 4: Actually my father-in-law had one.
• 9:35
Speaker 4: I knew there had to be something in the family.
• 9:38
Speaker 1: That's not one of those things that comes off the tip of your tongue.
• 9:41
Speaker 1: Oh yeah, el Camino.
• 9:44
Speaker 4: Well, my daughter has it now my youngest daughter.
• 9:47
Speaker 4: She has a garage.
• 9:50
Speaker 1: It's well taken care of, all right, so where are you located?
• 9:53
Speaker 1: Where is the Texas Triumph Registry located?
• 9:57
Speaker 4: It's located in Houston.
• 9:59
  Speaker 1: Okay.
• 10:01
Speaker 4: But Houston's so big they have.
• 10:04
Speaker 4: Well, the monthly meetings are at somebody's house the second Saturday and then every Saturday there is a breakfast somewhere over town.
• 10:14
  Speaker 4: So it varies.
• 10:15
Speaker 4: It goes north to south, east to west and there's always one near you.
• 10:20
Speaker 4: You know, during the month sometime Sure, and we take they take drives out in the little two-lane roads up north of Houston and west of Houston and east of Houston, even south.
• 10:36
Speaker 4: We even go to Galveston sometimes.
• 10:37
Speaker 4: How many people in the club.
• 10:41
  Speaker 4: There's.
• 10:42
  Speaker 4: I think there are 200.
• 10:44
  Speaker 4: I think 200 families, oh my God, that's a lot.
• 10:48
  Speaker 1: Families.
• 10:48
  Speaker 3: Yes.
• 10:49
Speaker 1: So do you all have a big Triumph show at least once a year or something?
• 10:54
  Speaker 4: Well, they're regionals.
• 10:55
Speaker 4: We're part of the vintage tramp register, which is a national group, and it's like a chapter, although we started this here first and then we joined vtr.
• 11:05
Speaker 4: Uh, I was already a member of vtr actually before we moved here, um, but uh, we just uh, there's something all the time.
• 11:15
Speaker 4: We have one run a month where we go out and travel the back roads.
• 11:19
  Speaker 4: After the breakfast.
• 11:21
Speaker 4: Sometimes they'll drive somewhere, like to somebody's garage, or they'll have a tech talk, a tech session somewhere.
• 11:30
Speaker 1: And have somebody put steering wheels on cars and things like that.
• 11:33
Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
• 11:34
Speaker 4: Well, I think I could do it if I have the book.
• 11:37
  Speaker 4: Sure well yeah.
• 11:39
Speaker 1: We all could Sometimes.
• 11:40
Speaker 1: But, you know one of the things that I remember when I was a member of a Corvette club many years ago, somebody needed help moving the body of a Corvette from the backyard and setting it on the frame, and so all of us went over to his house and we all gathered around and we helped the guy out.
• 12:00
Speaker 1: And that's one of the fun things about having car club friends when you do get together.
• 12:06
Speaker 1: Amy and so-and-so needs this Well let's go over there and do it.
• 12:10
Speaker 1: Lots of camaraderie and lots of fun.
• 12:14
Speaker 3: You've got quite a few in your garage there.
• 12:16
Speaker 3: Is that your personal garage or is that a workshop?
• 12:19
Speaker 4: Yeah, this is my garage.
• 12:21
Speaker 4: And you're here in Houston when we built the house we had to have Outside.
• 12:25
Speaker 4: Spring is a little outside of Houston.
• 12:28
  Speaker 2: Yeah.
• 12:28
Speaker 4: But yeah, I have a Miata.

• 12:59
  Speaker 4: par.
• 13:00
Speaker 2: It is terrible audio's still good, but we lost the video, so there, you are, there we go.

• 13:16
  Speaker 4: It's a retro 2003.

• 13:20
Speaker 4: I would love to show you the interior.
• 13:23
Speaker 4: It's red, it really is pretty.

• 13:58
Speaker 4: I'm gonna sneak in and see if I can.
• 14:00
  Speaker 4: It's a better look.
• 14:01
  Speaker 4: It's a very nice car.
• 14:03

• 14:07
  Speaker 4: He had mds.
• 14:08
Speaker 1: It's a rare cancer, uh, leukemia type cancer, but it's in pretty good shape do you ever take all these cars out and drive them once in a while?
• 14:19
Speaker 4: I drive the ones that run.
• 14:20
Speaker 4: I drive them at least once a week.
• 14:22

Speaker 1: Remember we talked to Alex several months ago.
• 20:59
  Speaker 2: Yes.
• 21:00
Speaker 1: I'm going to take it up there and he's going to put it on the dyno and do a mild tune to it through the computer.
• 21:07
Speaker 2: I've always heard about that.
• 21:08
Speaker 2: I'm really interested to see what you think of it hands-on.
• 21:10
Speaker 1: Yeah Well, we'll see.
• 21:12
Speaker 1: I still want to keep my mileage as much as I can Picky, picky, picky, and well, I mean he does some really high-performance stuff yeah.
• 21:22
  Speaker 1: And I'm not.
• 21:23
Speaker 1: I'm not interested in that.
• 21:24
Speaker 1: It runs just fine, but I want to get it up there.
• 21:27
Speaker 1: I want to get it on the dyno, see what it starts off with, see what it ends up with when he gets done messing with it and let him give it a once-over, a look-see.
• 21:36
Speaker 1: I'm still worried about the harmonic balancer and I've been told by several people don't worry about it until it comes apart.
• 21:43
  Speaker 1: Oh great.
• 21:48
Speaker 3: So he's going to give you an opinion on that thing he's going to look at it yeah, uh-huh.
• 21:53
Speaker 1: Yeah, okay, so don't worry about it until it breaks.
• 21:55
Speaker 1: Well, I'm trying to avoid it breaking while I'm on the road.
• 21:58
Speaker 2: Particularly if it's doing about 5,000 RPM, which means out there on the end of that crank.
• 22:02
  Speaker 3: It's doing about 20,000.
• 22:04
Speaker 3: And he's on the Big Ben.
• 22:04
  Speaker 1: Road.
• 22:05
Speaker 1: Yeah, so at any rate.
• 22:07
Speaker 1: So I'm getting ready.
• 22:08
Speaker 1: Next week is Alex's place.
• 22:10
Speaker 1: All right, very good Time now for the Mortar Minute, mr Jeffrey, yeah, I've been getting some questions.
• 22:15
Speaker 3: I kind of did a blurb a few weeks ago about blue mountains coming out and take a cruise and trip through the hill country, but what I got here is here's some of the places that you can go.
• 22:24
Speaker 3: Places that you can go now because of the cold weather.
• 22:28
Speaker 3: Some of the blue bonnets are coming out and then they went back in and they some of them died off, whatever the case, but they're starting to bloom.
• 22:32
Speaker 3: Uh, there's different varieties of the blue bonnets through texas, coastal and then interior.
• 22:37
Speaker 3: So, uh, one of the places you go to, enchanted rock state natural national.
• 22:41
Speaker 3: Uh state natural area in fredericksburg.
• 22:44
Speaker 3: Uh, willow city loop in frederburg They've got a great view of the Blue Bonnets Marble Falls, lelano, wimberley and Dripping Springs Mike, they've got fields of them, so when they bloom, go out there and get some good pictures.
• 22:57
Speaker 3: Wild Seed Farms in Fredericksburg, lady Bird, johnson, wild Flower Center in Austin Now, these are all hill country.
• 23:04
Speaker 3: They're going to start about Brenham and westward.
• 23:07
Speaker 3: You'll find some things here in Houston, north Houston, montgomery County and things Burnett, lake, buchanan.
• 23:13
Speaker 3: So there's quite a few out there you can get on.
• 23:16
Speaker 3: There's certain websites in Texas you can get on.
• 23:19
Speaker 3: Check your local municipalities and they have things that you can go out and actually go out there and do Be careful because there's a lot of snakes and things that live in those flowers.
• 23:27
Speaker 3: There's a lot of snakes and things that live in those flowers.
• 23:30
Speaker 1: There's a lot of creatures and things.
• 23:31
  Speaker 3: There's Don Armstrong.
• 23:31
Speaker 3: Yeah, the main lizards out there.
• 23:34
Speaker 2: And a lot of that's on private property.
• 23:36
Speaker 2: A lot of people just pull over on the side of the road.
• 23:38
Speaker 3: Yeah, don't do that, get some permission and they'll take some pictures.
• 23:40
Speaker 2: But if you try and climb over the fences, that's usually a good sign it's private.
• 23:44
Speaker 3: Don't trample them, don't pick them either, because there is a crime to pick blue bucks or cut them?
• 23:49
Speaker 1: Did you know that You're not supposed to mow them over, or anything?
• 23:51
  Speaker 3: Or trample them.
• 23:52
Speaker 3: So if you got a little kid and you're a nice baby shot and all that with the family, be careful of the critters and creatures and be respectful for the property.
• 24:04
Speaker 1: Yeah, and somebody else is going to want to do Something, something.
• 24:06
  Speaker 2: There you go.
• 24:07
Speaker 1: Time now for this hour's car review.
• 24:08
Speaker 1: I got to drive the 2025 GMC Sierra EV Final assembly.
• 24:16
Speaker 1: Location Detroit, Motown, sir.
• 24:19
Speaker 1: Available trim levels the Denali, the extended range and the max range.
• 24:24
Speaker 1: I had the Denali, the max range.
• 24:28
  Speaker 1: This is a full-size, half-ton pick-em-up truck.
• 24:32
Speaker 1: Seats five, including the driver.
• 24:33
Speaker 1: Exterior changes uh electrics from gm share few parts with the gasoline version.

Speaker 1: Gm squared off wheel openings still prevail.
• 24:55
Speaker 1: Uh, smaller version of the c pillar sail panels.
• 24:59
Speaker 1: That reminds one of the uh no longer produced avalan pickup truck, which kind of had a mediocre response, but now it seems to be back in vogue.
• 25:10
Speaker 1: If you can find them, Multi-Pro tailgate is absolutely the best.
• 25:16
Speaker 1: Thoroughly, whoever invented that.
• 25:21
Speaker 2: They did themselves proud Sugar got a raise.
• 25:24
Speaker 1: What I liked about the exterior.
• 25:25
Speaker 1: This is an exterior-interior feature and that is the MultiPro MidGate.
• 25:30
Speaker 1: It increases the bed length to almost 11 feet and it folds down to open the cab to the bed.
• 25:40
Speaker 1: That's how it creates that extra footage back there in the bed.
• 25:43
Speaker 1: Also, the window the back window can come out separately.
• 25:47
Speaker 1: Oh wow, it's just a really cool.
• 25:50
Speaker 1: It's like the Swiss Army knife of trucks.
• 25:54
Speaker 1: Yeah and it's not hard to do.
• 25:56
Speaker 1: Now, interior highlights Huge Tesla-like vertical infotainment screen.
• 26:03
Speaker 1: Now, this is different than the Chevrolet version.
• 26:07
Speaker 1: The Chevrolet is horizontal.
• 26:09
Speaker 1: This is a vertical, big tablet-looking screen that's right there above the center console.
• 26:16
  Speaker 1: Loved it.
• 26:16
Speaker 1: Big, comfortable leather seating with a great pattern in it, Full-time sunroof without a shade.
• 26:27
Speaker 1: How's that going to work in August and September?
• 26:31
Speaker 2: Well, I was really glad when I had it.
• 26:32
Speaker 2: I was really glad it wasn't August or September.
• 26:35
Speaker 1: But I will tell you this I would imagine that it doesn't have a shade well, for several reasons, but I guess that they figured that.
• 26:42
Speaker 1: If it's really beaten down on you, I think that they've got some special glass up there that's very reflective.
• 26:50
Speaker 1: You'll get the sunlight without the heat.
• 26:52
  Speaker 1: That's my guess.
• 26:53
Speaker 1: Yep, I didn't test it because it was cloudy.
• 26:55
Speaker 1: Sounds right, but it really was not obtrusive to me.
• 26:59
Speaker 1: Like most sunroofs are All right, upscale trim throughout.
• 27:06

• 27:11
  Speaker 1: Yes, I did.
• 27:11
  Speaker 1: Did you?
• 27:12
Speaker 1: What did you do up there?
• 27:14
Speaker 1: Tried to figure out how to close the frunk.
• 27:15
Speaker 1: That was an interesting expression of frustration and guilt.
• 27:23
Speaker 1: I felt dumb Because you could open it with the button button, but it doesn't close with the button kept looking for a button all down the sides so you kind of got to pull it down, and once you get it down there then it goes.
• 27:36
Speaker 1: Yeah, I don't know what the deal is with that.
• 27:38
Speaker 1: Um, what I liked about it functionality throughout the control services on the interior.
• 27:45
Speaker 1: Get the salesperson to demonstrate the mid-gate to you, because unless you look at something of how it works, it can be a little puzzling to get it down.
• 27:58
Speaker 2: Yeah, it can be a little concern, kind of put this back together Exactly.
• 28:02
  Speaker 1: Yeah, engine.
• 28:04

• 28:40
Speaker 1: What I liked about it?

Speaker 2: instant power and plenty of it, absolutely Even that big heavy vehicle.
• 28:47
Speaker 1: Did you burn the tires up on that, did not?
• 28:50
Speaker 1: It looked like if somebody had done that.
• 28:51
  Speaker 1: I didn't do it, I had it, I did it.
• 28:55
Speaker 1: All right, jeff, did I stole it and did it?
