- 0:07four. By the time you hear this, some things may have changed here
- 0:10or there, but we hope you enjoy the show. Welcome to Opposition Territory.
- 0:29Here at the Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:33sports podcast show in the world, that's right over eleven years strong. We've
- 0:36got a great discussion come in your way this week. We're gonna be diving
- 0:40into the NFC East. Also have some New York giants talk along the way
- 0:44here with our first time guest here at the PST podcast show, and here
- 0:49on Opposition Territory. This is gonna be an interesting division, really, I
- 0:52mean, conventional wisdom and of course is telling us and I'm putting all bias
- 0:57aside, that the Philadelphia Eagles are likely to be the winners of this division.
- 1:02Will that actually happen? There's a lot of different dynamics going on with
- 1:04this division with certain teams as well. We're gonna get into it right now,
- 1:08joining us for the first time. It is great to be able to
- 1:11talk to him about this New York Giants team, about this NFC East Division
- 1:15and what's going to be happening this coming season. We have from gm n
- 1:19HQ. You know, we love our fans sided sites out there. Mister
- 1:23Burraglio Perez. How you doing, buddy, I'm doing great. Thanks so
- 1:27much for having me excited to be here. It's great to have you on
- 1:30the podcast. Been whatting to have you on for some time now. And
- 1:34well, first and foremost, GM n HQ, you guys do a really
- 1:38great job over there. Where can folks find you and your colleagues and all
- 1:41the content you're putting up on the interwebs out there? I appreciate it.
- 1:44Yeah, so we're the giant side for fan Sided and so yeah, just
- 1:49gm n HQ dot com. We got some great stuff lely enough to training
- 1:53camp and then obviously the preseasons right around the corner regular season two and then
- 1:57on Twitter we're at just at GM n HQ. You you can find us
- 2:01there, all right? Very good? Well, Barrellia. I just got
- 2:06done watching the Giants off season hard Knocks this past weekend on HBO my friend
- 2:12and oh my gosh, after I got done watching it. I was like,
- 2:15I was like, holy crap. And I was like, I part
- 2:19of me is thinking to myself and again to try to like keep we try
- 2:22to be as subjective as we can here. And I'm like, I'm so
- 2:24glad that. And I'll say this with a caveat too. No front office
- 2:29is perfect, but I'm like, I'm really glad the Philadelphia Eagles don't have
- 2:32the problems at least that were highlighted in the Hard Knocks docuseries this past you
- 2:38know, this past offseason here, it just seems like such a bizarre front
- 2:42office from a New York Giants perspective. And I do wonder if Giants fans
- 2:46are going to be even more concerned about, you know, certain decision making
- 2:50as the new season approaches here. I wonder if if there is going to
- 2:53be that concern your thoughts on that as well, And I guess your thoughts
- 2:57also just about the Hard Knocks docuseries and should there be some concern within Giants
- 3:02Nation about the direction of the front office, because if I was a Giants
- 3:06fan, I'd see some concerns. What are your thoughts here, so I
- 3:08would say it's definitely been split, like there have been some people who have
- 3:13been like, you know, kind of going after Joe Shane, like what
- 3:15is he doing? Like how is this his process? Yeah, But then
- 3:19on the other side of things, there are other people who are backing them,
- 3:23and I'm kind of in that corner, I would say, just because
- 3:24I mean one of the most viral clips throughout Hard Knocks so far has been
- 3:30John Marra talking with him and being like, Hey, you know, I'm
- 3:34gonna lose sleep if Saquon leaves. Yeah, if it goes to the Eagles.
- 3:38You know, it seemed like he was kind of pushing for the Giants
- 3:42to pay Saquon and forget about the other needs that this team has, which
- 3:46you know, we'll get to in a little bit. But Shane was really
- 3:50kind of sticking to his guys like, you know, we we can't overspend,
- 3:53we can't overpay. We got to focus on other things, prioritizing,
- 3:58you know, the offensive line, which his team is it, since you
- 4:00know it seems like forever we'll get to that bit. Yeah, of course.
- 4:03Yeah, So I would say, yes, there is some concern about
- 4:06how there seems to be a big disconnect between owner and GM, but I
- 4:11think there was still some real people relieved that they saw like, okay,
- 4:16it's still the GM show, Like, yes, the owner is going to
- 4:19be involved. He's going to talk about what he wants. Like when Maris
- 4:24said, you know, he's the most popular guy on the team, you
- 4:26know, people are like, oh god, you know, this guy's just
- 4:28worried about Jersey sales. He doesn't care about the product on the field.
- 4:30Right, That's where your GM comes in, right. So it seemed like
- 4:33Shane though, was It's like he was between a rock and a hard place
- 4:36at times. It really was because you have done an owner, the owner
- 4:40of the team kind of pushing you in a certain direction. Yet you have
- 4:44your personnel and even you know within himself being like I know what I need
- 4:47to do in order to get this team to that next level. Again kind
- 4:53of looked it seemed like he was caught between rock and a hard place.
- 4:56It was a tough spot to be in, especially with how the negotiations with
- 4:59him in Particul had gone in the past. You know, he another clip
- 5:01he was saying, you know, the last year's talk took about ten years
- 5:04off my life, which is pretty funny, right. You could tell like
- 5:09in a perfect world he wanted him back, but he always wanted him back
- 5:14at the right price. So, like you said, he was stuck in
- 5:15a difficult spot. But I think at the end of the day he he
- 5:19you know, as much as I hate to say, it's tough steing Saquon
- 5:21lead as bestally to go to a division rival, but I think he made
- 5:26the right call to really help get this team in a better spot. Yeah,
- 5:29I think at the end of the day. Look, I'm very happy
- 5:32about it. As a Philadelphia Eagles, I'm very happy about it. But
- 5:35at the end of the day, I think he did make the right decision
- 5:38because there are other aspects of this Giants team that need to be looked at
- 5:42if they are going to contend at some point down the road. And I
- 5:46guess to piggyback off you know that first topic right there. You know,
- 5:49as we know coaches, they like to replicate each other in the NFL.
- 5:53Yet I find it bizarre sometimes, even after looking at the Hard Knocks docuseries
- 5:58here about the Giants, sometimes I find it bizarre that front offices don't always
- 6:01try to replicate what other front offices are doing as much in the NFL.
- 6:06I mean, I think some do try. Sometimes they fail, but others
- 6:11just don't seem to try. I'm not saying the Giants are like that or
- 6:15we're like that, but you have teams, say Hype, you have teams
- 6:17in the NFC East, like the Eagles and the Cowboys who have consistently made
- 6:21their offensive lines a priority, as you know, and they've seen a you
- 6:27know, quote higher level of success because of it. And I don't necessarily
- 6:30see the Giants or the Commanders in this NFC East division kind of getting to
- 6:34that top tier in terms of their offensive line stature. So brillio, how
- 6:42much of an issue is this with the Giants and then really getting to that
- 6:46next level in the NFL? Well, I think we saw it last season.
- 6:49You know, under former position coach Bobby Johnson, they gave up baby
- 6:54five sacks, which I don't say incredibly. Whichever quarterback you have up behind
- 7:00center, they're not gonna have any chance if you're giving up you know,
- 7:03that many sacks in a season, you know, kind of balancing off of
- 7:09the whole Saquon thing. The Giants they knew they had to prioritize it this
- 7:13offseason, so they went out and got offensive guard John Running junior, which
- 7:16I thought was a tremendous signing. I think it's a great move. And
- 7:19then they also brought in Jermaine Lemanor, who has the ability to play either
- 7:24guard or tackle. So right now, one of the biggest question marks I
- 7:28would say for the offensive line is what's going to happen with Evan Neil,
- 7:30Right, former number seven overall pick, highly regarded guy coming out of Alabama,
- 7:34and the first two seasons of him, you know, as a starter,
- 7:38have been a complete train wreck, right, So he needs to take
- 7:42that step this season. But if he struggles, he's still battling recovery from
- 7:46offseason ankle surgery, right, If he's not ready to start the season,
- 7:50then you're gonna have more question marks. So which is why Actually some some
- 7:54big news had just come out. The Giants hosted veteran offensive guard Greg van
- 7:59Rotin for a visit, and Rubin Vargas he's a Giants reporter out of Barslonax.
- 8:05He was the one who broke the the Munich game news. But he's
- 8:09saying that a deal is going to be finalized here pretty soon, like it's
- 8:11close. It's so as they're telling him that. So I think if that
- 8:13happens, you really start to wonder like, is this insurance for Evan Neil
- 8:18or is this where the Giants are thinking? You know, this could be
- 8:22more than that. You know they do they move Elemanor over to right tackle?
- 8:26Do they put Van Roten at right guard? Running left guard? Your
- 8:30center's John Michael Schmidt's second year guy out of Minnesota, and then you have
- 8:35former All Pro left tackle Andrew Thomas. So then you kind of put all
- 8:39that together and you go from one of the or not I'm sorry, not
- 8:43one of the worst. You go from the NFL's worst offensive line in twenty
- 8:46twenty three to hey, you've got a formidable unit up front. Yeah.
- 8:50Right, So, but the big thing is with Neil. You know,
- 8:54is he going to start off that you're on the pup list? Is he
- 8:56not going to pull these first four games? If that happens, you know,
- 8:58you you signed someone like Van Roten. I think it's really going to
- 9:01help. And then obviously, the main guy who's going to benefit from unimproved
- 9:05offensive line, I'm sorry, improved offensive line is the same guy who's in
- 9:09a make or break season fighting first career in Daniel Jones. Right, that's
- 9:13a very good point too. I mean, just sticking really quick with regard
- 9:16to the offensive line. I mean, last week on our Opposition Territory podcast,
- 9:20we were talking about the Jacksonville Jaguars and how that Jaguars offensive line.
- 9:24They have a number of number or first round picks on their offensive line,
- 9:28but they just haven't been sticking and they haven't been able to produce at the
- 9:31level that a first round pick. You know, that hope is there that
- 9:35they'll be able to produce. And I think of a lot of it comes
- 9:37from coaching too. You can have all the talent in the world, but
- 9:41if the players and the coaches from a personality perspective, and not even from
- 9:45a scheming perspective, but just getting along understanding what they need to do during
- 9:48practices, how it translates onto the field. You know, if that cohesion
- 9:52is not there, I don't necessarily know of all the talent in the world
- 9:58is going to bring success. So I don't know about quite frankly, don't
- 10:03know about the offensive line coach for the New York Giants too too. Well.
- 10:07I look at the Eagles when they have a guy like Jeff Stotlin who's
- 10:09been there for quite some time. He was able to take seventh rounder into
- 10:11in Jordan Milatta, a rugby player from Australia, and turn him into a
- 10:16you know, an All Pro and one of the best left tackles in the
- 10:18league. As well as some other players who's the Eagles have been able to
- 10:22dig up here and there and get productivity from them. I do wonder how
- 10:26much of an offensive line coaching perspective, you know, might be a play
- 10:31here as well well. So I'm thank you for bringing that up. I
- 10:35didn't even bring that back before, But Sir Carmon Brisillo is a new offensive
- 10:39line coach, Yes, and I think of all the moves that Giants made,
- 10:41whether it be from a coaching staff standpoint or players, he's got to
- 10:46be up there in one of the most you know, top five most important
- 10:48editions of the offseason. Yep, he's got the experience. He's coming in.
- 10:52He seems to be gelling well with the offensive line this fart. Like
- 10:56you said, coaching makes a huge difference. You know. Bobby Johnson,
- 11:00he just you know, he wasn't getting the job done. You know,
- 11:03people were hoping that he would be the guy to help develop Evan Neil.
- 11:05You know Andrew Thomas took, you know, such a big step, and
- 11:09but then last year he battle battled injuries. But the hope was last year,
- 11:13you know, Neil would take a similar step to what Thomas did.
- 11:16From year one to year two, we didn't see it happened. And then
- 11:20literally the day after you know, not a dig here, but not the
- 11:24day after the Giants meet the Eagles in the regular season finale, dave All
- 11:28made some changes and he fired Bobby Johnson, and now Bobby Johnson's uh with
- 11:31the Commanders and a lot of Giants in's like, hey, Washington, like
- 11:35you know that's your problem now, like that's not exactly exactly. I think
- 11:39Bristillo is going to make a huge Like there's a lot of excitement around him.
- 11:43Now he's got he's got to show it though, you know that that's
- 11:46a that's a big hire to you know, Brian dave All's staff. So
- 11:50we got to wait and see how it how it pans out. But I'm
- 11:52I'm cautiously optimistic that he's going to be able to make a world of a
- 11:56difference for for an offensive line that I mean, let's be a reholed,
- 12:00but let's be real here. They cannot get any worse than they did last
- 12:03year. That's true. Yeah, the table is set for him to improve
- 12:07things exponentially. Again, folks talking to Bralio Perez from g men HQ.
- 12:13Check out everything that they have going on over there. Just search out gmn
- 12:16HQ and you get a lot of great Giants content talk about the NFC East
- 12:20as well, different things going on with this New York Giants team. So,
- 12:22as we're moving along with our conversation here have a two part question for
- 12:26you. As training camp is starting here, folks are looking at the New
- 12:30York Giants because look, even US Eagles fans, we are looking at what
- 12:33other teams in this NFC East are doing, and the Giants, honestly,
- 12:37they are interesting to me, at least they are. So I'm wondering as
- 12:41we as we look into some of these storylines we're gonna be following during training
- 12:45camp here, Burralio, what's one brutal storyline that we're gonna be following with
- 12:52this Giants team, and then we're gonna go We're gonna do the flip side
- 12:54of that and do a hopeful storyline in just in just a minute here,
- 12:58But what's the real brutal storyline that you're gonna be following being like, oh
- 13:03geez, I can't believe this is going to be happening during the course of
- 13:05this training camp. I got to bring it up again, but I think
- 13:07it's the offensive line. No, it's definitely like you because it's just how
- 13:13bad they were last season. So we want to see these guys improving.
- 13:16Yep, it's unlucky for them that they're going up against Brian Burns, cave
- 13:20On Thibodeau, Dexter Lawrence. Who I mean, you look at those three
- 13:24guys like you want to talk about just beasts. Yes, going to war
- 13:28in the trench is like you got to feel bad for Carmen Briszilla and what
- 13:31he's going to go up against. But at the same time, they've got
- 13:33to show that they're going to be able to improve and then kind of off
- 13:37that again to it, it's Evan Neil. Like I my worry right now
- 13:39with them bringing in Greg van Roten and probably signing them is they're probably not
- 13:45feeling comfortable about Evan Neil's ankle. He was shut down from mini camp because
- 13:50he just didn't make the progress that they were hoping for. So I think
- 13:54that's going to be one of the biggest concerns question marks for this team is
- 13:58what's going to be going on with the offensive line, but more specifically on
- 14:01the edge right tackle with Evan Neil. We could find out that, I
- 14:05mean we Adam Sheffer could tweet something as we're speaking right now that they're going
- 14:09to shut him down until you know, whoever knows when. But I think
- 14:13that's the thing that we're going to be following closely. I wasn't sure if
- 14:16you were going to say the offensive line for that the answer to that question,
- 14:20or if you were actually going to say the running back and what is
- 14:24going to be happening with the backfield, because as I'm looking at this Giants
- 14:28team, Barralio, I look at how are they going to have a balanced
- 14:33offense? And I think it's going to be a real challenge for them this
- 14:35year, especially again losing Saquon Barkley. You've got Devin Singletary in there,
- 14:41who isn't necessarily a barn Burner by any stretch of the imagination. But I
- 14:45was wondering if you were going to say the offensive line or the running back
- 14:48room and just what's going to be happening out of that backfield. Are there
- 14:50some concerns though? With that backfield? I think there are, but also
- 14:54there's some optimism. Like yet, losing Saquon Barkley is massive. I'm not
- 14:58gonna and you know, Eagles fans should be ecstatic about having him, though
- 15:03I'm not. I had Saquon on my fantasy team last year. I'm not
- 15:07drafting him again because I know that whole tush pushing it going up. I
- 15:09need those touchdown points, so I'm not touching Saquon. But with Singletary,
- 15:13he he's not a superstar, He's not a Pro Bowl you know, running
- 15:18back. But at the same time, he's proven that he can get the
- 15:20job done, you know, whether he was Buffalo or the Texans. I
- 15:24mean, it's easy to forget. Granted he didn't hit a thousand yards.
- 15:28He's coming off a career best season, you know, Russian for almost nine
- 15:31hundred yards last year, So I think he'll bring some balance, so bring
- 15:33some stability. And again too, you know, Saquon has battled injury issues
- 15:39throughout his career. Singletary has been very, very durable, so that could
- 15:43be something you know that is going to be a benefit for the for the
- 15:46Giants offense. Now again, I'll say it once more. He is Saquon
- 15:52Barkley the better running back, absolutely, But I think that you know,
- 15:56the coaching staff at the front office, they have enough belief in Devin single
- 16:00Terry that they think he'll be able to produce enough where yes, it's going
- 16:03to be a bit of a loss, but he's still going to help them
- 16:04win some games and be competitive in others. All right, very good.
- 16:08Well, on the flip side of the coin there, what's one hopeful storyline
- 16:11that we should be following with this Giants team as we're hiding into training camp
- 16:15here. I mean it's an obvious one, but you know, Milik Neighbors,
- 16:18you know, he's your number six overall pick new wide receiver one and
- 16:25the front office has failed miserably and trying to bring in that electric guy on
- 16:30the outside, you know, at receiver, that guy that's going to get
- 16:33people off their seats at MetLife Stadium ever since you know Odell left in yeah,
- 16:37twenty eighteen. They tried with Kadarius Tony. We all know how that
- 16:41went. They tried with any Dalladay. One of the worst moves a free
- 16:45agency in Giant's history. So now it's going to be like, you know,
- 16:48what can this kid do? You know? And the similar similarity to
- 16:52Stodell Beckham Junior there, you know, Lsu standout neighbors plays with just a
- 16:57ton of swagger, like there's no limit to this kid's confidence. So that's
- 17:03gonna be one of one of the biggest storylines and a reason for hope is
- 17:06can this guy help transform the offense? You know, it's not going to
- 17:10be just him though, like the aerial attack, it's not just gonna be
- 17:12neighbors neighbors neighbors. Other guys are gonna have to step up. I'm excited
- 17:15to see. If you know Wandeale Robinson. You know, he's not the
- 17:18biggest wide receiver in the world by any means, but he's so shifty,
- 17:22so quick. Jalen Hyatt, he showed flashes last year of being a downfield
- 17:26threat. Can he take that next step right? And don't forget about Darius
- 17:29Slayton too. You know, he's coming back final year of his contract.
- 17:32Led the team in receiving for the last five years, so that there's some
- 17:36there's some quality there. But then you bring in someone like neighbors. Who's
- 17:40that that playmaker, that guy who's going to go up and you know,
- 17:42post the head, the head turning kind of games. So I think he's
- 17:47definitely gonna be a guy to watch. He does well when it comes to
- 17:48the catch point and bringing those balls down. I'll tell you that we saw
- 17:52plenty of that in college. So all right, buddy, Well let's let's
- 17:56get into some more NFC East talk here. You know, I mentioned the
- 18:00Commanders earlier. You know, they're a team that continues to go through excuse
- 18:03me, we're structuring, especially as they're heading into their second year under new
- 18:07ownership. I mean, it's a franchise that has certainly been in flux over
- 18:11the years, and I think at this point me actually be getting on their
- 18:15feet. But I wanted to get your opinions real quick in terms of their
- 18:18direction and how you see this Commander's season really heading here again as they have
- 18:25new ownership, a lot of new pieces here to this team. What are
- 18:27your thoughts with regard to the Commanders. Definitely definitely a different era for them.
- 18:33Yeah, but I think one that Washington fans should be excited about.
- 18:36You know, obviously, the main addition is Jaden Daniels. You know,
- 18:41you bring in a quarterback of his caliber and it kind of stinks for some
- 18:45Giants fans because, yeah, there was a lot of talk about Drake May,
- 18:48but on hard Knocks it is clear that Brian Davele loved this kid.
- 18:52Yeah, there was a clip of of Shane asking him would you trade up
- 18:56for him? And Daball just still and face like danielsbsolutely. I would like
- 19:00you could tell that he really really likes him. I think he's going to
- 19:03be a stud in this league. I think he's going to be phenomenal.
- 19:07So I think finally Washington has a quarterback that, you know, their fans
- 19:10can be excited about. And we know how much of a difference a quarterback
- 19:12can make, you know, especially a young, exciting one like him.
- 19:15Like, is he going to have the same kind of impact that c.
- 19:18J. Stroud had on the Texans? I don't know. My gut tells
- 19:22me that maybe, And I don't like that because I wish that would be
- 19:26happening for the Giants, you know, but I think but similar with any
- 19:32young quarterback, there's going to be some hiccups, there's gonna be some mistakes,
- 19:34there's going to be you know, it's not going to be perfect.
- 19:37There's gonna be grown pains for sure. It happens with every rookie quarterback for
- 19:40everyone. Like there's gonna be a game where people are like, oh my
- 19:41goodness, you know he is it. But then there's gonna be other ones
- 19:45where he's going to, you know, throw an interception in the end zone
- 19:48where it's a ball that he shouldn't have. Like these things happen every year
- 19:52with the young quarterback. So I think this year, I think the Commanders
- 19:55are going to improve. I don't think that, you know, they're going
- 19:59to be pushing for a playoff spot, but I think there's definitely going to
- 20:02be a reason for hope in year one under Daniels where people can get behind
- 20:04him and see that this ownership is taking things seriously and moving in the right
- 20:08direction. Well as we're moving along with the conversation here, I've been saying
- 20:11for some time Burrellio that I think the Cowboys are going to take a step
- 20:17backwards this coming year. I just cannot seem to understand how they've created the
- 20:22situation that they have with Dak Prescott, a legit franchise quarterback, and I
- 20:27think that that particular discord, or the back and forth, the question marks
- 20:32that are there about his future in Dallas, his contract, all of this
- 20:37may actually be a detriment that just kind of lingers in the background for this
- 20:41Cowboys team this coming season here as well as you know, a run game
- 20:45that doesn't seem to be too too scary, and we know that they've had
- 20:49a prolific run game over the years, not necessarily last year, but it's
- 20:55something they've leaned on in the past. I don't know if they have that
- 20:56anymore. What are your thoughts on where the Dallas Cowboys maybe going this season?
- 21:03I mean, I almost feel bad for Mike McCarthy, you know,
- 21:04because you can't feel bad for him. I'm kidding, Like, it's hard
- 21:11for me to feel bad about, you know, a guy who's making so
- 21:14much mommy and he's coaching one of the most popular teams in the world.
- 21:18At the same time, It's like, so Jerry Jones brought him back.
- 21:19This is essentially like this is the last year of his deal. Like the
- 21:22expectation was that he was going to get fired. They're not giving him an
- 21:26extension, and it feels like they're setting him up for failure, and the
- 21:30same can be said with Dak, like they're not going to extend and they're
- 21:32probably just let him, you know, hit free agency. It's like what's
- 21:37going on with the Cowboys, Like they have the pieces to go on a
- 21:40Super Bowl run and a lot of people thought that would be the case last
- 21:42year, but then they absolutely blew it against the Packers in the in the
- 21:48opening round, which you know he saw coming like that was wild to see.
- 21:51But it's like Jerry Jones and you know, his family, like what
- 21:55is going on? It's not just Dak though, like Ceedee Lamb's not happy
- 21:59about his comment situation, Michael Parsons is ready to get paid, like all
- 22:03these different you know people that are unhappy. And then, like I said,
- 22:06the running game, like they thought life would be you know, bells
- 22:10and whistles with Tony Pollard, but he's already gone. He's with a different
- 22:14team. And then their answer to him leaving is bringing back Ezekiel Elliott for
- 22:18for a reunion. Right is that gonna? Is that gonna scare anyone crazy?
- 22:25It just doesn't make sense to me, Like with a team that has
- 22:27all the tools to win the division, you know, scare folks around the
- 22:33league, and then this is how their off season is gone. It's just
- 22:36like I I mean, as I'm sure you you know you love seeing it
- 22:41from the outside. Yeah, for everyone in Texas, it's like what are
- 22:45they doing? Like what what is the thought process here? So I agree
- 22:48with you, I think they're going to take a step back and then Mike
- 22:51McCarthy's going to get or not fired because his contract's up, but he's not
- 22:53going to be renewed. They're gonna part ways with him then all off season
- 22:57unless you know, something surprising happens ahead of camp, like then Dak's gonna
- 23:03be on his way out. And then what do you do? Do you
- 23:04do you target? You know, a free agent quarterback? But who's gonna
- 23:08be available if all these guys are landing these massive, you know, extensions
- 23:11for the next five six years or you know, mostly five years, Like
- 23:15who are they gonna go after? Are they gonna trade up in the NFL
- 23:17Draft to bring in someone when you have a guy like Dak Prescott, so
- 23:19when he's on, man, that guy is on, yes exactly. So
- 23:26yeah, just it's weird how things have gone for them, Like I don't
- 23:29think that. I think the Eagles are probably gonna win the division again,
- 23:32and then the Cowboys might, hopefully, if they're lucky, you know,
- 23:33I'll sneak into playoffs with a wild wildcard round or a wild card spot.
- 23:38Yeah. Yeah, it's just yeah. The Cowboys are so bizarre brilliant.
- 23:42I look at them as a team that has so much talent, yet they're
- 23:47in this bizarre purgatory with all of that talent. I don't know how an
- 23:52organization lets that happen, but I'm gonna let you go here. But but
- 23:56but before I do, buddy, h finally we got to get into the
- 24:00Philadelphia Eagles. We are a Philly sports based podcast here, and like you
- 24:04said, the Eagles appear to be the team to beat in the NFC East.
- 24:07And I think while many of us Eagles fans, you know, really
- 24:11want to forget about that one and six and of the year collapse from last
- 24:14season, which it's always gonna be in the back of our minds, we're
- 24:15never gonna forget that. It's not gonna go anywhere on paper. I think
- 24:21it was another successful offseason for this team, especially with the acquisition of CJ.
- 24:26Gardner Johnson bringing him back into the fold. Devin White. We'll see
- 24:29what he can do in terms of Vic Fangio's defense, especially from a cover
- 24:33six standpoint where your safeties and your linebackers need to be able to cover in
- 24:37space. That's gonna be interesting to follow. Bryce Huff coming over from the
- 24:41Jets in a trade, and of course, as we talked about Saquon Barkley
- 24:45earlier, lots of new pieces to this Eagles team. But they've got two
- 24:48new coordinators on offense and defense. You just don't know how it's gonna go
- 24:52here. What are your thoughts on what we're gonna be seeing from the Eagles
- 24:56this season? So I hate to say, but I think the Eagles are
- 24:59gonna win the division again. I think they're they're gonna win the NFC East.
- 25:03And then I mean then we got to wait and see what happens in
- 25:06the postseason. For a lot of people, I'm sure most of your listeners
- 25:08too, Like the end of last year was was rough. I had the
- 25:12Eagles going to the Super Bowl. Yeah, I thought the way things started
- 25:17like before the before the downfall, I was like, man, this team
- 25:19is looking good. And still I don't know if it was just you know,
- 25:23me being naive, but I did not see the loss to the Buccaneers
- 25:26coming in the playoffs. I was I was just stunned. I was like,
- 25:30you know what, they're not playing well, but they'll get it together.
- 25:33So I think there's a lot of motivated guys in that locker room because
- 25:37there's a lot of pressure playing in Philly. The fan base is known as
- 25:40being one of the most passionate in the not just in the country, just
- 25:44out there in general. So I think it'll be a bounce back here.
- 25:45I think Jalen Hurts will remind people how good he can be. He's still
- 25:51young, you know people are I see people writing them off like, oh,
- 25:53it's done. It's like, no, Like what's going on. He's
- 25:57got plenty of time. The one thing I will is like I've seeing rumors
- 26:00sulting around that his relationship with Nick Siriani is not is not great. I
- 26:04don't know how much of that is Philly sports talk radio just trying to find
- 26:08nonsense to make up during the course of the offseason. It happens, brilliant,
- 26:11It happens every freaking summer. It drives me crazy. Philly sports talk
- 26:17radio. They just make stuff up. It's crazy. Could be the trying
- 26:19to fill in the gaps and you know where there's not much to talk about.
- 26:25But no, yeah, yeah, I can't. Im like Dave,
- 26:29they'll figure it out by by when came starts. But no, Hurts is
- 26:32gonna be great in the defense. It's like your guys' pass rush and the
- 26:34guys up Fron like somehow finds a way to get better each offseason, which
- 26:38drives me mad. But then obviously the big one is is Barkley. I
- 26:42think he's he's gonna have a huge year. I think he's going to prove
- 26:45to be that extradition to the offense that really, you know, take things,
- 26:49takes things to that next level. And I mean you've already got aj
- 26:52Brown, you've got to bound to Smith, you got Hurts, and now
- 26:55you add someone like Barkley. It's like, my goodness, like this is
- 26:59going to be motivated. You know a lot of people are saying he wasn't
- 27:00worth the money that Rosman gave him. You know, he's been getting a
- 27:04lot of hate on social media, but I think that's all just extra feel
- 27:07for him to go out and in remind everyone that he's one of the best
- 27:10running backs in the NFL. And he's on a new NFC East team now,
- 27:14but he's still gonna you know, be a be a beast, and
- 27:17you know, hopefully if he can stay healthy, that's a big thing.
- 27:18If he can keep himself on the field and stay healthy, I think it's
- 27:22gonna be a huge year for him, bigger for the Eagles. Win the
- 27:25division and then you know, wait and see what happens in the playoffs.
- 27:30Yep, folks, he's Brollio Perez over at g men HQ over fan sided
- 27:36buddy. It was a great conversation here. Absolutely loved having you on.
- 27:40Thank you so much for taking the time. I'd love to have you on
- 27:41in the future, my friend, anytime. Yeah, I'd love to come

- 27:48first showdown of the year. Ooh, all right, let's do it.
