Transcript
- 0:18Speaker 1: Requiem for a Dream is a psychological drama that came
- 0:21Speaker 1: out in the year two thousand. It is based off
- 0:24Speaker 1: a Hubert Selby Junior book of the same name. American
- 0:28Speaker 1: filmmaker Darren Aronofsky directed this movie, and as a longtime
- 0:32Speaker 1: fan of Selby Junior, it sounds like this was somewhat
- 0:35Speaker 1: of a dream come true to adapt one of his
- 0:38Speaker 1: books to film Selby Junior's Books to Film. Aeronofsky is
- 0:42Speaker 1: known for his unique style of filmmaking. For example, most
- 0:45Speaker 1: movies require around seven hundred to eight hundred cuts on average,
- 0:49Speaker 1: where Requiem for a Dream has over two thousand cuts.
- 0:54Speaker 1: There are several split screen scenes, time lapse photography, long shots,
- 0:59Speaker 1: extreme close up, and snorricam, which is when the camera
- 1:03Speaker 1: is strapped to the actor and then facing back at
- 1:06Speaker 1: them to give them that sort of like jarring POV
- 1:09Speaker 1: like you're seeing them up close, everything's moving, as they're moving,
- 1:13Speaker 1: you get the picture. It's one of those movies that
- 1:15Speaker 1: you really have to see for yourself. It's a really
- 1:18Speaker 1: intense experience overall. Some of Aronofsky's other work includes the
- 1:23Speaker 1: movie The Wrestler, Black Swan, Mother the Whale with Brendan
- 1:28Speaker 1: Fraser and a movie called cot Stealing which came out
- 1:32Speaker 1: last year. I haven't seen that one yet. I can't
- 1:35Speaker 1: remember who all's in that. I think the one guy.
- 1:39Speaker 1: One guy's in that movie that I recognized from Late
- 1:43Speaker 1: Night in Soho. If anybody saw that movie Late Night
- 1:48Speaker 1: and Soho, pretty bad movie in my opinion. Usually when
- 1:55Speaker 1: I watch movies, I'll take a break if I have to,
- 1:57Speaker 1: like if I gotta make some lunch, maybe finish a
- 2:00Speaker 1: movie in two sittings or so. You know what I'm saying,
- 2:03Speaker 1: might have to go to work. There's other responsibilities that
- 2:06Speaker 1: will pop up and pull me away every so often.
- 2:08Speaker 1: So that's just common for me. Like I'll usually like
- 2:12Speaker 1: half and half a movie just for time's sake. But
- 2:16Speaker 1: around the final act of this movie, I really just
- 2:19Speaker 1: needed a break because of the movie, and that doesn't
- 2:21Speaker 1: happen very often. I just kind of like felt like, Okay,
- 2:25Speaker 1: I need to relax a little bit, go take a shower,
- 2:28Speaker 1: come back, and you know, finish this one after I
- 2:32Speaker 1: clear my head a bit. It was definitely like a
- 2:34Speaker 1: really heavy movie overall. And I'm gonna do a quick
- 2:38Speaker 1: summary before we get into spoilers, because I'm sure there's
- 2:41Speaker 1: some small details that I'm going to leave out as
- 2:43Speaker 1: we go through it. So this movie overall is about addiction,
- 2:47Speaker 1: and one thing I really liked is that they touch
- 2:49Speaker 1: on prescription drugs with the Sarah Goldfarb character, who is
- 2:52Speaker 1: played by Ellen Burstein from the Exorcist. I don't know
- 2:56Speaker 1: if I said her last name right or not Burstein
- 2:58Speaker 1: or Burstein. She's obsessed with this TV show that she
- 3:03Speaker 1: likes a lot about juicing in. One day, she gets
- 3:05Speaker 1: a call telling her that she want a spot as
- 3:07Speaker 1: a guest on the show. So she's freaking out. She
- 3:09Speaker 1: starts trying to go on this diet to fit into
- 3:12Speaker 1: this red dress. I read that they had like three
- 3:15Speaker 1: kind of like fat suits created for the character because
- 3:18Speaker 1: she goes through this weight loss progression, you know, and
- 3:21Speaker 1: this diet that she's going on is tough. It's too
- 3:24Speaker 1: tough for her to handle. So a friend recommends going
- 3:27Speaker 1: to the doctor for some damn diet pills. The doctor
- 3:30Speaker 1: gets her hooked on amphetamine. Sarah doesn't realize that she's
- 3:33Speaker 1: addicted because she's like, Hey, a doctor gave this shit
- 3:35Speaker 1: to me. What's the worst thing that could happen? And
- 3:38Speaker 1: she starts to tweak out bad. Her son, Harry, is
- 3:41Speaker 1: a heroin addict. Him and his friend Tyrone. They start
- 3:44Speaker 1: to deal as well as yous, and that goes about
- 3:47Speaker 1: as well as you'd expect. Harry's girlfriend, Mary On Mary Marion,
- 3:52Speaker 1: is an aspiring fashion designer. Her and Harry talk about
- 3:55Speaker 1: saving up money from the dope that he's selling to
- 3:57Speaker 1: start a shop for They're like, yeah, you know, it'll
- 3:59Speaker 1: be like a dream come true. What's the worst that
- 4:01Speaker 1: could happen? She's also a drug addict too, so you know,
- 4:05Speaker 1: what is the worst that could happen? And they start
- 4:08Speaker 1: to rely on Harry's drug money once her parents cut
- 4:11Speaker 1: her off, which we'll get into that more. As I said,
- 4:13Speaker 1: but I just kind of wanted to cover the basis
- 4:16Speaker 1: of who these characters are, what their motivations are, and
- 4:19Speaker 1: stuff like that, because, like I said, with two thousand
- 4:21Speaker 1: cuts in this movie, this was a challenging one to
- 4:25Speaker 1: even just like take notes on of like what's important
- 4:27Speaker 1: what's not because there's so many like artistic choices as
- 4:30Speaker 1: far as the editing goes, they just kind of give
- 4:34Speaker 1: you more of like a vibe that the movie's bringing
- 4:37Speaker 1: rather than you know, narrative accuracy, if that makes sense.
- 4:42Speaker 1: And you know, they probably could have just showed us
- 4:45Speaker 1: this movie in eighth grade instead of wasting all that
- 4:47Speaker 1: damn time and money on the DARE program. You guys,
- 4:50Speaker 1: remember the DARE program, and if they would have done that,
- 4:55Speaker 1: I wanted to have thought that doing weed and smoking
- 4:58Speaker 1: meth were basically the same thing, because probably until I
- 5:01Speaker 1: was like twenty years old, I thought if you smoked weed,
- 5:04Speaker 1: you wo had become a meth head, and you'd be
- 5:06Speaker 1: you know what, You'd be robbing liquor stores to buy weed.
- 5:11Speaker 1: You'd be sucking people off to buy weed and stuff
- 5:14Speaker 1: like that. You know. That's what DARE did for me.
- 5:17Speaker 1: But I guess they kept me away from I guess
- 5:20Speaker 1: it did work in a sense. I was pretty scared
- 5:22Speaker 1: about doing drugs because I thought you could overdose on everything.
- 5:26Speaker 1: Anything you ever touched, he was gonna kill you. So
- 5:29Speaker 1: did scare the fuck out of me, I guess. But
- 5:31Speaker 1: you know, I've learned a lot since the DARE program.
- 5:34Speaker 1: I have even done some drugs myself, just to let
- 5:39Speaker 1: you guys in on that little secret. One time, at
- 5:41Speaker 1: a party in high school, I even drank about three
- 5:43Speaker 1: or four beers and smoked a cigarette, so I can
- 5:48Speaker 1: kind of relate to what's going on in this movie
- 5:50Speaker 1: with these characters. I did live with a Heroin addict
- 5:53Speaker 1: for a couple of months when I was like eighteen
- 5:55Speaker 1: or nineteen, and that was quite an experience, I will
- 5:58Speaker 1: say that. Yeah, it was just a short little period
- 6:03Speaker 1: of time where we were sharing this apartment and they
- 6:06Speaker 1: ended up having to move back in with their parents
- 6:08Speaker 1: because I guess they weren't spending their money on rent,
- 6:11Speaker 1: you know what I mean, They had other things to
- 6:13Speaker 1: buy that were more important than rent, probably Heroin, and
- 6:20Speaker 1: that's just how it went. Something that I read that
- 6:22Speaker 1: was pretty neat about this movie is that they almost
- 6:25Speaker 1: cast Giovanni Rabisi, Neave Campbell, and Dave Chappelle for the Harry,
- 6:30Speaker 1: Marion and Tyrone characters. So instead we have Jared Leto
- 6:33Speaker 1: as Harry, Jennifer Connelly as Marion, and Marlon Wayne's as Tyrone.
- 6:39Speaker 1: So amazing cast overall. Anyway, I feel like, I mean,
- 6:44Speaker 1: it would have been really cool to see the alternative
- 6:46Speaker 1: cast as well, because the only one I can't well,
- 6:49Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess I could see Dave Chappelle
- 6:52Speaker 1: as Tyrone. It's hard to imagine Dave Chappelle in like
- 6:55Speaker 1: a really serious role, though, because Marlon Wayins does a
- 6:58Speaker 1: great job in this and even the he's typically in
- 7:02Speaker 1: comedic actor position, I feel like he pulls it off
- 7:04Speaker 1: and comes off as like a genuine character in this movie.
- 7:09Speaker 1: I'm not gonna lie. This is my first Jared Leto
- 7:11Speaker 1: movie I've watched for the show. Personally, I think Jared
- 7:14Speaker 1: Letto fucking stinks, But is he is good in this movie?
- 7:18Speaker 1: And I've heard that, I've heard, you know, I've always
- 7:20Speaker 1: heard people that are Jared Leto defenders list me off
- 7:23Speaker 1: the movies that I should watch if I want to
- 7:25Speaker 1: see a good Jared Letto performance, which surprised me. This
- 7:30Speaker 1: surprised me overall because I was just thinking, thinking, there's
- 7:34Speaker 1: no way he's gonna top his performance and Morebius, and
- 7:38Speaker 1: there's no way he's gonna top his portrayal as the
- 7:41Speaker 1: Joker and the Suicide Squad, And there's no goddamn way
- 7:45Speaker 1: he's going to do a better job in this movie
- 7:47Speaker 1: than he did as a cyborg in the movie tron Aris.
- 7:51Speaker 1: What So, with all that out of the way, let's
- 7:56Speaker 1: go ahead and get into the spoilers. The meat and potatoes,
- 7:59Speaker 1: the meth, and the heroin of this movie. It starts
- 8:01Speaker 1: out with Shooter McGavin, the guy I can never remember
- 8:04Speaker 1: the actor's name. He's in like The Faculty and several
- 8:07Speaker 1: other movies where he just pops up and you're like, damn,
- 8:10Speaker 1: it's Shooter McGavin, my favorite character from Happy gilmore So,
- 8:15Speaker 1: he's hosting the show where everyone's just yelling juice by Tappy,
- 8:18Speaker 1: Juice by Tappy, over and over again. I don't know
- 8:20Speaker 1: what the fuck's going on. It starts off like that,
- 8:22Speaker 1: we're just kind of watching this like live TV audience
- 8:26Speaker 1: chant this shit over and over. Then we cut to
- 8:28Speaker 1: Jared Leto just trying to steal his mom's goddamn TV
- 8:32Speaker 1: right out of the wall, and she's just like, oh, Harold,
- 8:34Speaker 1: don't take my goddamn TV. But he's like, oh my,
- 8:37Speaker 1: I'll give it right back. And that was like one
- 8:39Speaker 1: thing that threw me off right away is like I
- 8:41Speaker 1: didn't know anything about this movie. Jared Leto is using
- 8:45Speaker 1: like a Boston everyone's using like a Boston accent, you
- 8:47Speaker 1: know in this movie, or some sort of East Coast accent.
- 8:50Speaker 1: I'm not exactly sure if it's fucking Boston or Queens
- 8:52Speaker 1: or whatever. I don't know. I don't care, but it
- 8:55Speaker 1: threw me off. As you get into the movie, it
- 8:58Speaker 1: gets more comfortable. Like I can't say he did a
- 9:01Speaker 1: bad job of like with this accent or whatever. I
- 9:04Speaker 1: don't think i'd do like a better job or anything,
- 9:08Speaker 1: but it's just interesting to hear. So his mom kind
- 9:11Speaker 1: of like freaks out and locks herself in the bedroom,
- 9:14Speaker 1: and he's kind of like, why, Ma, why are you
- 9:16Speaker 1: scared of me? Ma? Ma, open up. I'm just gonna
- 9:19Speaker 1: pawn your TV. I'm not gonna actually sell it. And
- 9:22Speaker 1: I don't know what his problem is, Like, I don't know,
- 9:26Speaker 1: but he's stealing his mom's goddamn television right under her nose.
- 9:30Speaker 1: We see Marlon Wayns, who plays Tyrone, like I said,
- 9:32Speaker 1: waiting for Harry outside the apartment and they're about to
- 9:35Speaker 1: pawn his old ass mom's TV together. They're just like
- 9:38Speaker 1: wheeling this thing around on one of those TV cars
- 9:40Speaker 1: that's that the teacher used to wheel into the room, which,
- 9:44Speaker 1: you know, going back to the whole Dare program thing,
- 9:46Speaker 1: they should have wheeled the damn TV in and played
- 9:48Speaker 1: this movie for us when we were like at least.
- 9:51Speaker 1: I feel like if you're a junior or senior, you
- 9:53Speaker 1: can handle this movie, you know what I'm saying, And
- 9:55Speaker 1: it would be hopefully a big eye opener. I mean,
- 9:59Speaker 1: I know there's always going to to be the exception, Like,
- 10:01Speaker 1: no matter what you show kids like how the how
- 10:05Speaker 1: terrible things go for these characters in this movie, there's
- 10:08Speaker 1: still gonna be kids out there that are like, that's
- 10:10Speaker 1: actually fucking cool. I want to end up just like them.
- 10:13Speaker 1: I hope my arm gets fucking cut off from doing
- 10:16Speaker 1: too many drugs. I hope I'm a prostitute, which you
- 10:19Speaker 1: know a lot of people nowadays they do want to
- 10:22Speaker 1: be prostitutes. It's interesting. So I guess maybe this would
- 10:26Speaker 1: have just backfired and blown up right in my fucking face.
- 10:28Speaker 1: So anyway, they're wheeling the damn TV down the street.
- 10:31Speaker 1: It seems like this is taking all day, Like you're
- 10:33Speaker 1: kind of seeing the sun set around them, and it's like, okay,
- 10:36Speaker 1: there's not a closer pawn shop, and goddamn Brooklyn or
- 10:39Speaker 1: wherever the fuck they are anyway, they sell the TV
- 10:41Speaker 1: pawn it or whatever, and then we get these real
- 10:43Speaker 1: quick cuts of like drugs being like pushed through a
- 10:46Speaker 1: plunger and their eyes dilating, and a lot of these
- 10:49Speaker 1: cuts I heard were referred to as like hip hop cuts,
- 10:51Speaker 1: like super fast, just like you see like a super
- 10:56Speaker 1: close up of like a syringe and just like the
- 10:58Speaker 1: liquid getting pushed through it, and then you'll just see
- 11:00Speaker 1: like super close up of the eyes dilating, and like,
- 11:03Speaker 1: you know, the noises that go along with it. The
- 11:05Speaker 1: whole experience of this movie is very jarring. Later on,
- 11:09Speaker 1: Harry and Tyrone they're just kind of chilling eating a
- 11:11Speaker 1: little ice at ice cream at an ice cream stand,
- 11:13Speaker 1: talking about how they should start selling some drugs so
- 11:16Speaker 1: they can make more money and get more damn drugs.
- 11:18Speaker 1: It's the you know, oldest trick in the book. A
- 11:21Speaker 1: cop sits next to them, and Harry's intrusive thoughts take
- 11:25Speaker 1: over real quick. He just starts staring at the cops
- 11:27Speaker 1: gun and then he grabs it and him and Tyrone
- 11:30Speaker 1: are doing like Monkey in the middle with the damn
- 11:32Speaker 1: cop using his gun, and the cop like falls over
- 11:35Speaker 1: and shits his pants probably or something pisses his pants.
- 11:38Speaker 1: But because then we see it's just a day dream,
- 11:40Speaker 1: it's not actually really happening, So we cut to Harry's
- 11:43Speaker 1: mom buying her TV back from the pond guy and
- 11:47Speaker 1: she has to wheel this fucker all the way back home,
- 11:50Speaker 1: which is crazy to think about when you like Harry
- 11:53Speaker 1: and Tyrone. This seemed like it was giving him all
- 11:56Speaker 1: the trouble in the world just to get this goddamn
- 11:58Speaker 1: TV to this pawn shop guy. And this old ass
- 12:01Speaker 1: mom is gonna do it by herself, I guess. After
- 12:03Speaker 1: we see her just like loudly eating some chocolates while
- 12:06Speaker 1: watching TV back home, we cut to Harry and his
- 12:09Speaker 1: girlfriend Marian. They're doing some kind of prank or like
- 12:12Speaker 1: a scam or something at this apartment complex. I didn't
- 12:15Speaker 1: really understand. I guess this is just how they pass
- 12:18Speaker 1: the time. This is like a normal date for them.
- 12:20Speaker 1: They start like pressing random buzzers until this like old
- 12:23Speaker 1: guy answers one of them, and they start mumbling into
- 12:25Speaker 1: it like oh, oh, let me you know, and the
- 12:30Speaker 1: guy's like what, I can't fucking hear you. So it
- 12:32Speaker 1: just like buzzes them through and they're like, oh, yeah,
- 12:35Speaker 1: we get it. So now we cut back to Harry's
- 12:39Speaker 1: mom's house and she she gets a call saying that
- 12:42Speaker 1: she won a contest to appear on her favorite TV show,
- 12:46Speaker 1: the Juice Show Juice by Tappy or whatever the fuck
- 12:49Speaker 1: the show is called. And at first I wasn't sure
- 12:53Speaker 1: if it was the show that she's watching all the time.
- 12:55Speaker 1: Like you just kind of hear them say like, hey,
- 12:58Speaker 1: you want to show, And I guess this is supposed
- 12:59Speaker 1: to be kind of ambiguous. You're not supposed to know
- 13:01Speaker 1: like is this even real or is this like a
- 13:05Speaker 1: prank call or did she actually win a guess but
- 13:08Speaker 1: on this show. But I feel like if you know
- 13:10Speaker 1: anything about shows and stuff like this, there's a lot
- 13:14Speaker 1: of times where you even if you're involved with the
- 13:18Speaker 1: show or something like that. And I guess like the
- 13:20Speaker 1: general public probably want to realize this that like a
- 13:23Speaker 1: lot of times you're going to be quickly forgotten about.
- 13:26Speaker 1: It's not like a big deal to them, Like you
- 13:28Speaker 1: might win something or win like a spot on a
- 13:30Speaker 1: show and then just never hear back from them because
- 13:33Speaker 1: they don't, you know, they don't give a fuck. They
- 13:36Speaker 1: probably got somebody else to fill your spot or something.
- 13:38Speaker 1: I remember when I was in high school, I actually
- 13:40Speaker 1: did like this. There was one of those true life
- 13:43Speaker 1: shows going on at one of the schools around US
- 13:45Speaker 1: at a band competition and I got interviewed for it,
- 13:49Speaker 1: and I got paid fifty dollars to do this MTV interview,
- 13:53Speaker 1: and I was fucking excited as hell because I was
- 13:55Speaker 1: like fifteen, maybe fourteen fifteen or something like that, and
- 14:02Speaker 1: it never entered the True Life show unfortunately. It was
- 14:07Speaker 1: like True Life, I'm a band dick or something like that,
- 14:11Speaker 1: and they didn't They didn't put me on there for
- 14:14Speaker 1: some fucking reason. I don't know. My interview was probably shit.
- 14:16Speaker 1: I honestly probably said some really dumb ass stuff that
- 14:18Speaker 1: they were like, ah, fuck this kid, But I guess
- 14:20Speaker 1: we got to give them fifteen dollars anyway. Fifty dollars
- 14:25Speaker 1: is what it was, fifty dollars in cash. Honestly, I
- 14:27Speaker 1: thought they were going to kidnap me at first, because
- 14:29Speaker 1: like this group of adults just approached me with like
- 14:32Speaker 1: a big camera next to a van, and I was like,
- 14:35Speaker 1: is this some sort of a bang bus or something?
- 14:38Speaker 1: What are you guys gonna do to me? In there?
- 14:40Speaker 1: Is this kind of fucking freaking me out. But it
- 14:44Speaker 1: was just a quick little interview and they gave me
- 14:46Speaker 1: fifty dollars, So thanks MTV. I want to see the
- 14:50Speaker 1: unedited episode of I'm a Bandick and see if my
- 14:55Speaker 1: interview is still on there anyway, Fuck that, But that's
- 14:59Speaker 1: what it's it's trying to, I guess, like leave this
- 15:02Speaker 1: up for interpretation of like do you think she actually
- 15:05Speaker 1: got this call or not. She goes on, she starts
- 15:07Speaker 1: trying on dresses right away. There's like this red dress
- 15:10Speaker 1: that she worded her son's graduation that she really wants
- 15:12Speaker 1: to fit back into, but it's a little too snug
- 15:15Speaker 1: for right now. So then we cut back to Harry.
- 15:18Speaker 1: He's asking Marion why she doesn't like her parents. He's like,
- 15:21Speaker 1: you know, your parents give you everything you want. They
- 15:23Speaker 1: give you money, clothes, and they pay for your apartment.
- 15:26Speaker 1: And she's just like, well, you know, money's not the
- 15:29Speaker 1: only Money's the only thing they have to give me,
- 15:31Speaker 1: and it's not the most important thing in my life
- 15:33Speaker 1: or something like that. So they go inside this apartment building,
- 15:36Speaker 1: they set the alarm off, and then they just leave.
- 15:38Speaker 1: So they're still at this like prank alarm situation that
- 15:41Speaker 1: they're doing. And that's pretty much the extent of it.
- 15:45Speaker 1: I thought they were gonna like rob an apartment or something,
- 15:48Speaker 1: you know, like try to steal some money so they
- 15:50Speaker 1: can buy drugs. But so far, really this is one
- 15:54Speaker 1: thing too that I think makes the movie really effective.
- 15:57Speaker 1: You see, like a really natural progression where it's like, yeah,
- 16:00Speaker 1: these guys are drug addicts. You know, it sucks that
- 16:03Speaker 1: he ponned his mom's TV, but it sounds like this
- 16:05Speaker 1: is something that they do like regularly, so that he
- 16:07Speaker 1: can get money to buy drugs. I don't know why
- 16:09Speaker 1: she just doesn't give him the money in the first place.
- 16:12Speaker 1: I know she probably doesn't want to enable his drug
- 16:15Speaker 1: habit or whatever. I don't even know if she knows
- 16:16Speaker 1: that he's on drugs. Really, she seems pretty like oblivious
- 16:20Speaker 1: to everything, but seems like a whole lot of work
- 16:24Speaker 1: just for him to get enough money to buy like
- 16:26Speaker 1: a small amount of heroin for them to do and
- 16:30Speaker 1: then his mom has to go all the way and
- 16:31Speaker 1: get her fucking TV. But anyway, so they're not like
- 16:35Speaker 1: into like this deep crime aspect of drugs yet, they're
- 16:38Speaker 1: really just like junkies that are kind of like scrounging
- 16:41Speaker 1: around and stuff like that and apparently doing little pranks
- 16:44Speaker 1: at apartments. Harry's mom she can't fit into the damn
- 16:47Speaker 1: dress anymore, like I said, So one of her friends,
- 16:50Speaker 1: she's like, hey, here's a diet book that I did.
- 16:51Speaker 1: It's like a grapefruit diet. And she looks fucking pissed
- 16:54Speaker 1: because she can't have any goddamn sugar and she loves sugar.
- 16:57Speaker 1: She's constantly staring at the refrigerator, like imagining the cake
- 17:01Speaker 1: in there and shit. And she's looking at the pantry
- 17:03Speaker 1: and imagining like a big ass bull of lucky charms
- 17:05Speaker 1: and somebody just fucking forest feeding her ass with it
- 17:08Speaker 1: and milk spilling all over. Her friend is just kind
- 17:10Speaker 1: of getting her like this whole makeover. She's like, I'm on,
- 17:13Speaker 1: I'll die your hair and shit like that. She does
- 17:16Speaker 1: dye her hair, and she like fucks it up. She's
- 17:17Speaker 1: supposed to have like this really like red, like bright red, hairy,
- 17:22Speaker 1: you know, and she ends up with like this kind
- 17:23Speaker 1: of like orangice, like ketchup. You looking fucking hair like
- 17:26Speaker 1: ketchup when you wipe it off with a napkin, you
- 17:29Speaker 1: know what I'm saying, and then the shit that's left
- 17:31Speaker 1: over on the napkin. Mary and Harry and Tyrone they
- 17:33Speaker 1: take some pills. They have a little party at their
- 17:35Speaker 1: apartment house or whatever. I don't I kind of really
- 17:38Speaker 1: figure out whose apartment this is. I guess they just
- 17:40Speaker 1: kind of share it. Maybe the whole scene is like
- 17:42Speaker 1: sped up like fast motion, you know, and we just
- 17:45Speaker 1: kind of hear Tyrone talking about their plan to get
- 17:47Speaker 1: pure hair win and hit it big. He's like, Yeah,
- 17:50Speaker 1: we gotta get the good shit, the pure shit, and
- 17:53Speaker 1: then we can sell that shit. We can ten x
- 17:55Speaker 1: our damn money, Harry, which I don't know. To me,
- 18:02Speaker 1: I was like, if Marian's so rich, like, if her
- 18:04Speaker 1: parents are so rich and they're paying for her apartment
- 18:06Speaker 1: and all this shit, why do they need to Like
- 18:09Speaker 1: why does she need to be involved even in this.
- 18:12Speaker 1: I get that she probably wants to feel like independent
- 18:14Speaker 1: from her parents and stuff like that, But at the
- 18:17Speaker 1: same time, it's like, if you got the hookup lady,
- 18:20Speaker 1: why do you need to sell drugs? You realize that
- 18:22Speaker 1: you can die and go to fucking prison for selling drugs,
- 18:26Speaker 1: So maybe you need to make some better goddamn life choices. Marian,
- 18:30Speaker 1: Harry and Marian they're just kind of lying around. Harry
- 18:33Speaker 1: has this other idea. I guess this is either like
- 18:35Speaker 1: a plan B or a side project to the selling
- 18:39Speaker 1: pure heroin project, or maybe this is like an end
- 18:42Speaker 1: like the end goal. He's like, hey, check this out.
- 18:47Speaker 1: Here's some ideas that I have about some Sketchers stores,
- 18:50Speaker 1: which I didn't know what the fuck he meant by
- 18:52Speaker 1: Sketchers stores. At first, I guess what he's talking about
- 18:55Speaker 1: her fashion career that she wants to pursue. But I
- 19:00Speaker 1: don't know what he why he said sketchers. I don't
- 19:02Speaker 1: know if he's just referring the shoes that she made,
- 19:04Speaker 1: or like dresses. I don't know, does Sketchers make dresses
- 19:08Speaker 1: or oh, maybe he meant sketches, Oh, sketches, but with
- 19:14Speaker 1: his Boston accident, it sound like sketchers. I was like,
- 19:17Speaker 1: does she have this like dream of wanting to like
- 19:19Speaker 1: open up a sketcher French you know, or what are
- 19:23Speaker 1: those things called, like when you open up McDonald's you
- 19:27Speaker 1: you know, I can't think of what the word is.
- 19:29Speaker 1: But she wants to do that with a Sketcher store
- 19:31Speaker 1: and be the manager or whatever. Anyway, that's not what's
- 19:34Speaker 1: going on in the movie. Something totally different is so
- 19:37Speaker 1: back with Harry's mom. She cannot stand this fucking diet.
- 19:40Speaker 1: She's like I hate grapefruit. She eats it, and there's
- 19:43Speaker 1: like a cool shot where like she's sitting in front
- 19:45Speaker 1: of the grapefruit and like this hard boiled egg and
- 19:48Speaker 1: like in just this, you know, like one cut, all
- 19:51Speaker 1: of a sudden, the grapefruits fruit has been like eaten,
- 19:54Speaker 1: and the hard boiled egg has been like peeled and eaten,
- 19:56Speaker 1: and there's like a chomping sound. It's almost like it
- 19:58Speaker 1: reminds me of a video game. At I's the way
- 20:01Speaker 1: that some of this is edited, and I thought that
- 20:03Speaker 1: was really neat. She goes outside. Her friends mentioned how
- 20:06Speaker 1: one of her daughters got hooked up with some damn
- 20:08Speaker 1: diet pills that made her not want to eat, so
- 20:10Speaker 1: she's like, I like the sounds of that. I'd rather
- 20:14Speaker 1: do that than fuck this diet up. So there's a
- 20:16Speaker 1: quick shot of Marian snorting some drugs after that, and
- 20:19Speaker 1: we get a shot of Tyrone on the phone with
- 20:21Speaker 1: his dealer about getting this pure heroin plan going. So
- 20:24Speaker 1: I think this guy's name is like Angel or something.
- 20:27Speaker 1: Harry's like, Oh, yeah, we're gonna do the shit, right,
- 20:29Speaker 1: We're gonna get the heroin. We're not even gonna fucking
- 20:32Speaker 1: do any of it. We're just gonna make pure profit
- 20:34Speaker 1: off of it and become fucking rich. And while he's
- 20:36Speaker 1: waiting for Tyrone, he smokes a little bit of weed
- 20:39Speaker 1: and does some djaying. Harry's like a his side hustle
- 20:42Speaker 1: is that he's like a little dj or something, which
- 20:44Speaker 1: is pretty cool. He has another daydream, but this time,
- 20:47Speaker 1: instead of stealing a cops gun, he sees Marion standing
- 20:50Speaker 1: at the end of a pier and like a really
- 20:52Speaker 1: nice summer day in a red dress. This gets interrupted
- 20:55Speaker 1: by Tyrone. He runs back in and is like, here
- 20:58Speaker 1: it is, man, I got the damn heroin man, And
- 21:00Speaker 1: he's like uh. He's like, oh yeah, cool, awesome, Tyrone,
- 21:04Speaker 1: good job. And then he's like, hey, we need to
- 21:07Speaker 1: try it. Harry's like, wait, I thought we weren't gonna
- 21:09Speaker 1: try it because we probably shouldn't get all fucked up
- 21:12Speaker 1: on drugs, because this is our chance to make it big,
- 21:14Speaker 1: remember Tyrone. But Tyrone's like, hell yeah, man, we are
- 21:17Speaker 1: gonna do all that shit, but I want to I
- 21:18Speaker 1: want to make sure that the damn product is good,
- 21:21Speaker 1: you know, and give it a little try. So they do.
- 21:23Speaker 1: They shoot up some heroin and they get stupid stoned
- 21:26Speaker 1: in like an instant. It's like as soon as the
- 21:29Speaker 1: shit hits, they're like giggling and falling over. It's like, Okay,
- 21:33Speaker 1: you guys are gonna fuck this up. I bet Harry's
- 21:35Speaker 1: mom is watching her show. She's tweaking out thinking about
- 21:37Speaker 1: food some more. Also, her hair just looks more and
- 21:40Speaker 1: more fucked up. It's like getting all frill it like
- 21:42Speaker 1: fried looking, you know, her friend that died it. Like
- 21:45Speaker 1: I said, it's orange as hell now and she's like,
- 21:47Speaker 1: this is at red, bitch, dye my hair back. She
- 21:50Speaker 1: can't watch the show anymore, so she tries to get
- 21:53Speaker 1: to bed, but she can't stop thinking about goddamn sweets.
- 21:55Speaker 1: They're like falling from the ceiling at her. So she
- 21:57Speaker 1: calls her friend about getting the pills to lose white.
- 22:00Speaker 1: She's like, all right, Bud, I'm ready, hook me up,
- 22:02Speaker 1: send me the drugs. Next we see Harry getting jealous
- 22:05Speaker 1: because Marian is going to have dinner with her therapist.
- 22:09Speaker 1: But this is another thing. I'll you know, I'll get
- 22:13Speaker 1: into this more. But we cut to her on this
- 22:15Speaker 1: date with this like middle aged, you know, kind of
- 22:17Speaker 1: balding looking guy in a suit, and we cut away
- 22:20Speaker 1: from this, Whenever the therapist goes to the bathroom, it
- 22:24Speaker 1: just feels really uncomfortable because like at first I thought, like, oh,
- 22:27Speaker 1: she's having like a therapy session with this guy, Like
- 22:31Speaker 1: she talks about how her parents pay for her therapists
- 22:33Speaker 1: and stuff like that. But I don't know. I just
- 22:37Speaker 1: I've never been to the therapist, so I wasn't sure,
- 22:39Speaker 1: like is this normal, Like do you go have dinner
- 22:42Speaker 1: with your therapist? That doesn't seem right, that seems fucking weird.
- 22:45Speaker 1: We see the mom go to the doctor's office for
- 22:47Speaker 1: weight pills, and then we get a bunch of quick
- 22:49Speaker 1: shots of Harry and Tyrone selling a shitload of drugs
- 22:52Speaker 1: and they're just like stashing all the money in a shoebox,
- 22:54Speaker 1: just stacks and stacks of cash, and they like shove
- 22:57Speaker 1: the shoe box behind like a secret compartment in the wall.
- 23:00Speaker 1: The mom she gets the damn pill, so she's back
- 23:02Speaker 1: to eating whatever she wants again. She's eating fucking ice
- 23:04Speaker 1: cream and cakes and donuts and shit, and she can
- 23:07Speaker 1: watch her show again. She's like, all right, back to
- 23:09Speaker 1: the fucking you know, back to the grind. I'm getting
- 23:12Speaker 1: back on my show watching shit. We cut over to
- 23:14Speaker 1: Tyrone and his girlfriend. She's like, come back to bed,
- 23:16Speaker 1: you know. He goes, hang on a little bit. I'm
- 23:19Speaker 1: checking out the new mirrors I got. And then Michelle's like,
- 23:22Speaker 1: what is he talking about? New mirrors? You got? Tyrone?
- 23:26Speaker 1: You're spending your heroin money buying new mirrors? What the
- 23:29Speaker 1: fuck is this? Was this like an LA Fitness or something.
- 23:34Speaker 1: Then he has a daydream about when he was a
- 23:36Speaker 1: kid making a promise to his mom that he's gonna
- 23:38Speaker 1: make it some days, like I'm gonna you know, I'm
- 23:40Speaker 1: gonna make it. I'm gonna make money. Over with Harry,
- 23:42Speaker 1: He's like, Yo, I've been wanting to get my mom
- 23:45Speaker 1: a little present. I think I'm gonna use some of
- 23:46Speaker 1: this heroin money to buy her a brand new TV system.
- 23:49Speaker 1: And he does. He buys her like one of those
- 23:51Speaker 1: old school, like big screen TVs that you used to
- 23:54Speaker 1: see at like your rich friend's house. But they're like
- 23:57Speaker 1: just a giant fucking box and the screen is like
- 23:59Speaker 1: kind of dark, and like the speaker columns are like attached.
- 24:03Speaker 1: You know what I'm talking about. You guys know what
- 24:05Speaker 1: the fuck I'm talking about. But first Harry wants to
- 24:07Speaker 1: do some more damn drugs. So we get one of
- 24:10Speaker 1: the quick ass montages of them getting high mixed with
- 24:12Speaker 1: one of the montage of the mom, you know, taking
- 24:15Speaker 1: her pills. Like she's got all these pills for like morning, noon,
- 24:18Speaker 1: and night, and she just starts speeding. She's cleaning the house,
- 24:22Speaker 1: she's watching her show at the same time, she's going
- 24:25Speaker 1: fucking nuts. She feels like the terminator. She feels like
- 24:28Speaker 1: a million bucks right now. Nothing can stop her. She's
- 24:30Speaker 1: getting stronger than fuck. Harry comes home to visit his
- 24:33Speaker 1: mom and she is probably more and more tweaked out
- 24:36Speaker 1: than we even realized because of the pills, and she's,
- 24:40Speaker 1: you know, she's tweaking out all over the apartment. Harry
- 24:42Speaker 1: lies and says he has a good job now. He's like, yeah,
- 24:45Speaker 1: I got my own job working for a distributor. And
- 24:48Speaker 1: he's like, I got you a little present. It's a
- 24:51Speaker 1: giant TV. And she's like, oh, Harry, all you need
- 24:54Speaker 1: to do is just have a damn baby with your
- 24:56Speaker 1: damn girlfriend Mary. And he's like, chill out, Huh, I
- 24:59Speaker 1: got you a TV. It's not a baby. Harry starts
- 25:02Speaker 1: noticing his mom is like grinding her teeth she's like ah,
- 25:06Speaker 1: and he's like, wait a minute, are you on uppers?
- 25:08Speaker 1: And she's like, uh, I don't know. I don't know
- 25:10Speaker 1: what you mean. I went to the doctor and he
- 25:12Speaker 1: gave me some pills. He's like, okay, what's in the pills?
- 25:14Speaker 1: You know? And he just starts going off about how
- 25:17Speaker 1: she's she's going to get addicted. She probably already is addicted,
- 25:20Speaker 1: and she's going to get strung out from these goddamn pills.
- 25:22Speaker 1: He's like, no way, ma, get off the damn pills,
- 25:24Speaker 1: and she's like, no way, Harry. He's a nice doctor.
- 25:27Speaker 1: So finally she tells him the news about her being
- 25:29Speaker 1: on TV, and he's not very supportive about that either.
- 25:32Speaker 1: He's like, god, mah, why do you want to be
- 25:34Speaker 1: on the damn TV all the time? You know? Why
- 25:37Speaker 1: do you like the TV so much. She's getting pretty
- 25:39Speaker 1: worked up and just starts telling him that, like, basically,
- 25:42Speaker 1: the TV and this TV appearance and the diet and
- 25:46Speaker 1: all this stuff gives her a reason to live. He's like,
- 25:48Speaker 1: She's like, I'm lonely, you know, I'm a widow and
- 25:52Speaker 1: shit like that, and I don't see very much and
- 25:54Speaker 1: I don't have very many friends. Or you know, no
- 25:57Speaker 1: family and stuff like that. She's like, this makes me
- 25:59Speaker 1: want to this gives me a purpose. He's like, I'm
- 26:02Speaker 1: alone in the world and I'm getting old. You know,
- 26:04Speaker 1: it's pretty sad. So Harry starts to promise that him
- 26:07Speaker 1: and Marian will come by to visit, which I doubt it.
- 26:11Speaker 1: I don't believe Harry for a second. Harry's leaving in
- 26:14Speaker 1: the back of a cab and like he's thinking about
- 26:17Speaker 1: everything that just happened, he just starts crying. So it's
- 26:21Speaker 1: getting pretty It's already getting pretty dark, and this is
- 26:24Speaker 1: literally like we're just creeping up the roller coaster track
- 26:28Speaker 1: right now, we're not even close to the peak. So
- 26:31Speaker 1: Tyrone is having a meeting with Brody, the drug dealer.
- 26:34Speaker 1: I guess Brody is mute, so Brody's just like doing
- 26:38Speaker 1: sign language on his ass and stuff like that, and
- 26:39Speaker 1: he's got all these bodyguards around him that are like
- 26:42Speaker 1: translating for him, and they're just like, Brody want, Brody
- 26:45Speaker 1: want to promote you, you know, and Tyrone's like, oh, yeah,
- 26:48Speaker 1: that sounds good. I'd love to be promoted. I love
- 26:50Speaker 1: doing selling drugs and stuff like that, and doing drugs,
- 26:53Speaker 1: so they're getting ready to celebrate, and then all of
- 26:55Speaker 1: a sudden, the limo partition just rolls down and Tyrone
- 26:59Speaker 1: kind of comments on it, is like, oh, you got
- 27:00Speaker 1: white drivers, and then the drivers just turn around start
- 27:03Speaker 1: fucking blasting everyone in the car. There's blood everywhere. Tyrone's
- 27:06Speaker 1: covered in blood. He takes off running. He's like, oh shit,
- 27:10Speaker 1: this must have been like a drug bust or something,
- 27:12Speaker 1: I guess, and he gets picked up by the cops immediately,
- 27:15Speaker 1: like he barely gets down the damn block. And then
- 27:18Speaker 1: the title card says the Fall. So I forgot about
- 27:22Speaker 1: that the first part. Like this. The other interesting thing
- 27:25Speaker 1: about this movie is that it's done in the four seasons,
- 27:29Speaker 1: so we have, you know, summer, fall, winter, spring. I guess,
- 27:33Speaker 1: I don't know if we see the spring or maybe
- 27:35Speaker 1: it's spring, summer, fall, winter. I honestly didn't notice the
- 27:39Speaker 1: title cards until it said the fall, so that's my bad.
- 27:42Speaker 1: Then we cut to the mom. She's staring at her
- 27:45Speaker 1: new big screen TV and it's just like turned off.
- 27:47Speaker 1: She's just sitting in her chair. I don't know, I
- 27:50Speaker 1: don't know what is going on with her. Ass Harry
- 27:52Speaker 1: and Mary and there are stone out of their fucking minds.
- 27:55Speaker 1: We just kind of get a little scene of them
- 27:57Speaker 1: laying around admiring each other, just talking to me. He's like,
- 28:00Speaker 1: you're the most beautiful girl in the world, Marian, and
- 28:03Speaker 1: all this shit, and she's like, Harry, they're just like
- 28:06Speaker 1: out of their fucking out to fucking lunch, you know
- 28:08Speaker 1: what I'm saying. Like they're just talking in this these
- 28:10Speaker 1: like ethereal voices and stuff like that, you can tell
- 28:13Speaker 1: they're gone. We get a shot at Tyrone in prison,
- 28:16Speaker 1: and then we cut to the mom talking to the
- 28:18Speaker 1: doctor some more about her pills and how they don't
- 28:21Speaker 1: seem strong enough. She's like, I don't know, the pill's
- 28:23Speaker 1: not't really doing it for me anymore. I need I
- 28:26Speaker 1: need stronger drugs. And he's just like, yeah, fucking right away, bitch,
- 28:30Speaker 1: here's some more goddamn strong ass drugs. Make you clean
- 28:33Speaker 1: your house faster. She starts imagining herself on her TV show,
- 28:37Speaker 1: and like this idyllic point of view. There's a different
- 28:40Speaker 1: actor playing her, even with like you know, really nice
- 28:43Speaker 1: like dyed red hair and in this red dress and stuff,
- 28:46Speaker 1: and she's just like, oh, yeah, thanks for having me
- 28:49Speaker 1: on the show. I just want to talk about my
- 28:50Speaker 1: amazing son, Harry in the Love of my Life, my
- 28:54Speaker 1: dead husband, you know, and stuff like that. Harry bails
- 28:57Speaker 1: Tyrone out of jail and I didn't I didn't catch this,
- 29:01Speaker 1: but I guess he does use like either most of
- 29:04Speaker 1: if not all, of their like drug money to get
- 29:06Speaker 1: Tyrone out of jail. They talk about how the only
- 29:09Speaker 1: guy that's selling dope well around town now after this
- 29:12Speaker 1: drug bust, everyone's too scared to sell drugs, So the
- 29:15Speaker 1: only guy around town that's gonna sell dope will trade
- 29:18Speaker 1: it for Pussy's this guy named Tim that trades heroin
- 29:27Speaker 1: for pussy. So they're walking down the street and they
- 29:30Speaker 1: just see some dudes pull up in a van and
- 29:32Speaker 1: like dump a dead body in a trash can. I
- 29:35Speaker 1: don't know, I don't know what's going on here. I
- 29:37Speaker 1: guess it's just showing like how dangerous this neighborhood is.
- 29:40Speaker 1: This cuts to Harry and Marion in bed Later. Harry's
- 29:42Speaker 1: got some nasty looking track marks on his arm and
- 29:45Speaker 1: Marian wants to dip into the heroin stash. Again. That
- 29:50Speaker 1: doesn't sound good. The track mark on Harry's arm already
- 29:55Speaker 1: looks infected, like it's looking bad. I will say it
- 29:59Speaker 1: gets much much worse. But this thing looks like a
- 30:03Speaker 1: dog's asshole. Harry's mom is at the doctor. She's tweaking out,
- 30:08Speaker 1: trying to tell the doctor about how she's been tripping.
- 30:10Speaker 1: She's like, I've been seeing shit and he's just like,
- 30:13Speaker 1: no fucking problem, bitch. Here's some more prescriptions fill their
- 30:16Speaker 1: ass and I'll see you in a week and don't
- 30:18Speaker 1: talk to me anymore. I don't want to fucking hear it.
- 30:23Speaker 1: In the morning, Harry's telling Marian that Tyrone hasn't scored
- 30:26Speaker 1: yet and she's like, well, that's your fault because you
- 30:29Speaker 1: did the last of the dope, and he's just like,
- 30:31Speaker 1: what the fuck are you talking about. He's like, you
- 30:33Speaker 1: wanted to do the dope and she's like, yeah, I
- 30:35Speaker 1: wanted to, but you didn't have to. And he's like,
- 30:38Speaker 1: you think I'm just gonna sit there and watch you
- 30:39Speaker 1: shoot up and I'm not gonna shoot up, you know.
- 30:41Speaker 1: And they, you know, typical third world, first world heroin problem.
- 30:48Speaker 1: Harry and Tyrone. They check the money box. It's basically gone.
- 30:51Speaker 1: There's just like spiders crawling around there. Now. He's like,
- 30:54Speaker 1: don't worry, man, we'll fill it back up. We'll get
- 30:56Speaker 1: the money. We get the money back. Later on, Tyrone
- 30:59Speaker 1: tells Harry that there's supposed to be some more good
- 31:01Speaker 1: shit on the scene soon, but the price is going
- 31:03Speaker 1: to be double or you're gonna have to buy, like
- 31:06Speaker 1: in a higher amount at a higher price because of
- 31:08Speaker 1: the risk that people are taking. Ever since this drug bus,
- 31:11Speaker 1: no one wants to come around here, no mo. Harry
- 31:14Speaker 1: has this brilliant idea of pimping out Marion to get
- 31:17Speaker 1: the money to buy these goddamn drugs, and I was like, Okay,
- 31:23Speaker 1: this is not great. I guess he's going to try
- 31:25Speaker 1: to pimper out to her therapist and she kind of
- 31:28Speaker 1: warns him, like, you know, I'm not sure what all
- 31:32Speaker 1: I'm gonna have to do to get this money. But
- 31:34Speaker 1: he's like, listen, this is the last resort. I don't
- 31:37Speaker 1: know what else to do. And it's like, hey, guys,
- 31:39Speaker 1: I have a crazy idea. Get a fucking job, fucking dumbasses,
- 31:47Speaker 1: Jesus Christ, get a job. You're in fucking Brooklyn or whatever.
- 31:51Speaker 1: I'm sure there's some factories around there, some warehouses. You
- 31:54Speaker 1: can do drugs at them. Trust me, I've worked at
- 31:57Speaker 1: plenty of factories where everyone that I'm working around is
- 32:00Speaker 1: hooked on meth. And they do a great job. They
- 32:02Speaker 1: outwork me, that's for goddamn sure, and they don't seem
- 32:08Speaker 1: to get fired. And I just don't, you know, I'm
- 32:10Speaker 1: sure they probably do a background check, but it's like
- 32:13Speaker 1: I guess they just like if you've been arrested for
- 32:15Speaker 1: drugs and stuff like that, they're just like, hey, we
- 32:18Speaker 1: don't give a fuck. We need somebody to move this
- 32:20Speaker 1: shit from here to here. And if you're on drugs,
- 32:24Speaker 1: you know that's your problem. I guess. So I don't
- 32:27Speaker 1: know why selling Marion as a prostitute is basically the
- 32:31Speaker 1: first thing that they think of. I mean, at the
- 32:34Speaker 1: same time, I get it their drug addicts, they don't
- 32:37Speaker 1: think logically. They don't want fucking to have to go
- 32:41Speaker 1: to a job. I guess. I don't know. It's just
- 32:43Speaker 1: like they're all pretty young. They could all like each
- 32:45Speaker 1: have a job, like you know, I know in half
- 32:49Speaker 1: Baked their goddamn addicted to weed and not heroin, but
- 32:52Speaker 1: they all have jobs. The one guy works at Burger king,
- 32:54Speaker 1: and the one guy's a janitor, another guy, the retarded guy,
- 32:58Speaker 1: fucking what's his name. He even works out a damn
- 33:00Speaker 1: record store, So you know, I guess that's they should
- 33:04Speaker 1: show half Baked in this movie to be like, see,
- 33:06Speaker 1: Weed's not that bad, but Heroin is bad. You should
- 33:12Speaker 1: stay away from that. You will, uh, you'll end up
- 33:14Speaker 1: being a prostitute probably. So we see Marian and this
- 33:19Speaker 1: other guy on a dinner date she has for a favor,
- 33:21Speaker 1: and we just kind of see like he holds his
- 33:23Speaker 1: hand out and like touches her, and we see it.
- 33:26Speaker 1: She has a vision of stabbing a fork through his
- 33:28Speaker 1: hand and him just like screaming and shit. But it
- 33:30Speaker 1: cuts back to reality where they go back to bed
- 33:33Speaker 1: and Arnold is just like laying behind her like naked,
- 33:37Speaker 1: and he just starts like grabbing her and kissing her
- 33:39Speaker 1: all over, and she's just like, can you turn off
- 33:41Speaker 1: the lights at least? And he's like, why you never
- 33:44Speaker 1: wanted the lights off before? What? So, yeah, this was
- 33:51Speaker 1: something that like this doesn't really get explained that much obviously,
- 33:55Speaker 1: if according to Arnold they've had sex before. I guess
- 34:00Speaker 1: she does mention right before this that her parents have
- 34:02Speaker 1: cut her off. But I was kind of wondering and
- 34:05Speaker 1: it's been a long time since her and Arnold have
- 34:07Speaker 1: got together. I was kind of wondering if, like her
- 34:10Speaker 1: quote unquote parents' money, wasn't her just like being a
- 34:14Speaker 1: prostitute behind Harry's back from the beginning, because when she
- 34:18Speaker 1: meets Arnold this time, he acts like he hasn't seen
- 34:20Speaker 1: her in a long time, and all of a sudden,
- 34:22Speaker 1: she's supposedly cut off from her parents, and like I said,
- 34:25Speaker 1: why would she be going on like a dinner date
- 34:27Speaker 1: with her therapist in the first scene anyway, So it's
- 34:29Speaker 1: one of those things where it's like, maybe, you know,
- 34:33Speaker 1: maybe at some point she thought this was like a
- 34:36Speaker 1: good way to make money. We don't ever like meet
- 34:38Speaker 1: her parents or anything like that, or see any like
- 34:40Speaker 1: visions of them. I don't know. That whole thing was
- 34:43Speaker 1: really just kind of like left to be ambiguous, I thought,
- 34:46Speaker 1: or at least that's that's the conclusion I came up with,
- 34:49Speaker 1: because I was like, oh, why would this Why would
- 34:51Speaker 1: he be talking about them having sex already? And seems
- 34:54Speaker 1: like they're pretty comfortable with this transaction other than Mary
- 34:57Speaker 1: in this time anyway, this is cut what Harry just
- 35:00Speaker 1: kind of watching the shopping network at home, really depressing
- 35:03Speaker 1: looking shots of him just kind of sitting there in
- 35:06Speaker 1: the dark and the TV screen flashing on his face.
- 35:09Speaker 1: We see Marion stumble out of Arnold's place and she
- 35:12Speaker 1: as soon as she gets outside, she pukes in the bushes.
- 35:15Speaker 1: She shows back up, sits next to Harry and they
- 35:17Speaker 1: both look pretty goddamn rough. And I don't know if
- 35:20Speaker 1: this was one of those things where it's like, if
- 35:21Speaker 1: she was sleeping with this guy before, or prostituting herself
- 35:24Speaker 1: to him before or whatever, if it didn't bother as
- 35:28Speaker 1: much because it was her idea and she was doing
- 35:30Speaker 1: it willingly, but this time she's been like pushed into
- 35:32Speaker 1: it to buy more drugs. There's some orchestral music playing
- 35:36Speaker 1: this whole time that this like montage has done where
- 35:39Speaker 1: we see Harry's mom doing her makeup and Tyrone looking
- 35:41Speaker 1: at a picture of his mom. That is another thing
- 35:44Speaker 1: that I didn't really mention at all, like in my notes,
- 35:47Speaker 1: but the music in this movie adds to the building
- 35:51Speaker 1: dread and the suspense of everything that's going on, like
- 35:55Speaker 1: it just makes you feel like, oh, fuck, something BIG's
- 35:58Speaker 1: about to happen. It's just getting worse and worse. So
- 36:01Speaker 1: now Harry and Tyrone they're at a Walgreens or some shit,
- 36:03Speaker 1: and they go through the back door, like where all
- 36:06Speaker 1: the secrets are. And speaking of secrets, there's a secret
- 36:10Speaker 1: drug ship meant happening back here. There's like thirty people
- 36:12Speaker 1: back there, just cheering and waiting to pick up their
- 36:15Speaker 1: supply of hair one. Meanwhile, Marian is freaking out at home.
- 36:18Speaker 1: She's looking for drugs. She's like tearing the place apart,
- 36:20Speaker 1: trying to get a hit. She's, you know, she's going
- 36:23Speaker 1: through all the cabinets, pulling up the couches. Back at
- 36:26Speaker 1: the drug pickup, too many people start pushing and shoving,
- 36:28Speaker 1: so the drug dealers just point out, pull out fucking
- 36:31Speaker 1: machine guns and start blasting everybody. Harry and Tyrone don't
- 36:35Speaker 1: get shot, I think, just like a couple of people do. Maybe,
- 36:38Speaker 1: and maybe they're just shooting the air, don't I can't remember.
- 36:40Speaker 1: I thought some people got blasted. But they pack up
- 36:42Speaker 1: the drugs and they head back to Florida. So that's
- 36:45Speaker 1: there's like this big drug ship meant coming from Florida's
- 36:48Speaker 1: the whole point of this. Harry and Tyrone they're trying
- 36:51Speaker 1: to figure out how they're going to get back on track.
- 36:53Speaker 1: They're like we got to get the damn money back,
- 36:55Speaker 1: you know, And they're like, maybe we could get a
- 36:57Speaker 1: little bit from Angel if he promises, if we promise him, Uh,
- 37:03Speaker 1: some dynamite skag what I don't know what the fuck
- 37:07Speaker 1: that means. I have no idea what skag means. I
- 37:10Speaker 1: don't even I don't know. I got dynamite means great skag?
- 37:14Speaker 1: I don't know. I guess it's probably more drugs. Right.
- 37:17Speaker 1: It's either drugs or pussy at this point, is what
- 37:19Speaker 1: we're talking about. Right. Anyway, Harry's mom, she's in full
- 37:24Speaker 1: freak off mode. She's doing a little uh diddy party
- 37:27Speaker 1: at her own play what her apartment has turned into
- 37:31Speaker 1: like a level in the video game Silent Hill, and
- 37:34Speaker 1: she is fucking fried out, like it looks like her
- 37:36Speaker 1: hair is busted as fuck. The fridge starts bucking at
- 37:39Speaker 1: her like a damn horse or something, and she runs
- 37:41Speaker 1: back into the bedroom scared as hell. She's like, the
- 37:43Speaker 1: fridge is out to get me. Now, I'm fucked. Harry
- 37:46Speaker 1: gets back to Marian and is like, yeah, we didn't
- 37:49Speaker 1: get the drugs, and she's like, oh, you fucked it
- 37:51Speaker 1: up again, your little fucking loser. What the fuck. So
- 37:57Speaker 1: he calls Tyrone gets the number for the guy that
- 38:00Speaker 1: trade dope for pussy, and he gives the number to
- 38:02Speaker 1: Marry and he's like, here you go, bitch, get it
- 38:04Speaker 1: your damn side. And it's like, Okay, that's not a
- 38:09Speaker 1: good idea, Harry, fucking idiot. The mom ignores the crazy
- 38:13Speaker 1: refrigerator long enough to turn on the TV and imagine
- 38:16Speaker 1: herself back on her favorite show. Every once in a while,
- 38:18Speaker 1: the fridge will just fucking growl at her and start
- 38:20Speaker 1: bucking around, like, Oh, I'm gonna catch a bitch, And
- 38:24Speaker 1: the fake version of the mom teleports to the mom's
- 38:27Speaker 1: apartment with the host with Shooter McGavin as well, and
- 38:30Speaker 1: they just start like talking shit about the mom and
- 38:33Speaker 1: all of her stuff. They're just like, Oh, look at
- 38:35Speaker 1: this fucking dumb bitch's apartment. God damn, look at these
- 38:38Speaker 1: fucking little trink It's what a shitty apartment she lives in.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Oh look at the ceiling it's like falling in and shit,
- 38:44Speaker 1: look at this dumb bitch. She thinks she's gonna be
- 38:46Speaker 1: on the television show. The audience they start laughing at
- 38:49Speaker 1: her too, and then the apartment just starts breaking apart,
- 38:52Speaker 1: like all the walls start separating, and the whole TV
- 38:54Speaker 1: crew is like in her house, just fucking shoving the
- 38:57Speaker 1: camera in her face and putting makeup on her and shit,
- 38:59Speaker 1: and they're just like, are you ready, missus Goldfarb, are
- 39:02Speaker 1: you ready for this? Shit? Bitch? The fridge is gonna
- 39:04Speaker 1: fucking eat you now. And she's like, what ready for what?
- 39:07Speaker 1: And they're just like, oh, for this bitch, And they
- 39:09Speaker 1: just start doing like the mac arena around her and
- 39:11Speaker 1: shit and laughing at her. A spotlight shines on the
- 39:14Speaker 1: refrigerator and just starts going nuts, like sliding and growling
- 39:17Speaker 1: across the floor at her, and everyone's chanting, feed me, Sarah,
- 39:21Speaker 1: feed me Sarah until she runs out the door screaming.
- 39:24Speaker 1: So she's not doing too good. We get another title
- 39:27Speaker 1: card that says winter now, and this starts off with
- 39:30Speaker 1: a shot of Sarah just like wandering down the street
- 39:33Speaker 1: wearing her uh I think she's wearing her red dress
- 39:35Speaker 1: at this point, and she looks strung at as hell.
- 39:38Speaker 1: Her hair, like I said, is all fucked up, her
- 39:41Speaker 1: face is drained, she's gaunt. It's pretty rough. And this
- 39:45Speaker 1: is another like the way this is This shot is
- 39:48Speaker 1: done is great. It's like she's moving a little faster
- 39:51Speaker 1: than everyone around her. Everyone else kind of looks almost
- 39:54Speaker 1: like stop motion. It's really cool. We see Tyrone and Harry.
- 39:57Speaker 1: They take a vehicle down to Florida. I guess Angel
- 40:00Speaker 1: hooks him up with a car to go pick up
- 40:02Speaker 1: some damn drugs from Florida. Sarah, she we cut over
- 40:06Speaker 1: to her on the subway, looking crazy as hell, just
- 40:08Speaker 1: telling everyone she's going to be on TV, and they're
- 40:10Speaker 1: all looking at her like, shit, this bitch is crazy.
- 40:13Speaker 1: We gotta get away from this damn bitch. Marian is
- 40:17Speaker 1: on the phone with Angel. This is when she finds
- 40:20Speaker 1: out that Harry is on his way to Florida to
- 40:22Speaker 1: pick up a bunch of hair win. I guess Harry
- 40:23Speaker 1: didn't mention that to her or that he was leaving
- 40:26Speaker 1: and stuff. So she's freaking out now. She's like, oh shit, Harry,
- 40:30Speaker 1: when are you going to be back? You know? And
- 40:31Speaker 1: she's going through withdrawal symptoms and trying to get more
- 40:34Speaker 1: dope from Angel, but he's like, nah, I ain't got
- 40:37Speaker 1: dope for you. Sarah makes it on the TV at
- 40:39Speaker 1: the like the TV station, Like she gets to the
- 40:43Speaker 1: front desk and stuff like that, and just starts talking
- 40:45Speaker 1: to the receptionist and she's just like when am I
- 40:47Speaker 1: gonna be on TV? And she has like snot coming
- 40:50Speaker 1: out of her nose at this point, like a lot
- 40:52Speaker 1: of it. Her hair looks like Edward Damn Scissorhands type
- 40:55Speaker 1: of hairdoo. The receptionist is like, uh yeah, wait right here,
- 41:00Speaker 1: and I'm gonna get somebody to help you out, you know.
- 41:04Speaker 1: They give her some tea and they're just like, you know,
- 41:06Speaker 1: sometimes it takes a little while to hear back from
- 41:08Speaker 1: the TV show. And this is basically just to calm
- 41:11Speaker 1: her down until security can bust in and be like,
- 41:14Speaker 1: all right, bitch, you're coming with us, you know, take
- 41:16Speaker 1: it easy, you know, we're sending your ass to hell
- 41:18Speaker 1: or something. Marian calls the number for the guy that'll
- 41:21Speaker 1: exchange heroin for sex, but before he can say anything,
- 41:26Speaker 1: or before she says anything, she hangs up. But she's
- 41:29Speaker 1: like sweaty as hell. She's sweaty as a motherfucker. It's
- 41:31Speaker 1: just like close ups on her face and her eyes tweaking,
- 41:33Speaker 1: you know. And she ends up calling him back, and
- 41:36Speaker 1: this time she whispers high in like a really quiet way,
- 41:41Speaker 1: and the guy just starts laughing. On the other end,
- 41:44Speaker 1: Sarah gets taken away in an ambulance, so we'll see
- 41:46Speaker 1: what kind of a hospital they're gonna be taking her
- 41:49Speaker 1: ass too. Soon enough, then we were over with Tyrone
- 41:52Speaker 1: and Harry. They pull over to shoot up a little bit.
- 41:54Speaker 1: Harry has we see his arm, so, like we said earlier,
- 41:57Speaker 1: his arm is clearly infected this time. When he pulls
- 42:01Speaker 1: his arm up, it looks like a goddamn black volcano.
- 42:04Speaker 1: It's just like leaking black juice out of his arm.
- 42:06Speaker 1: The veins are like spreading, you know, like dark blue
- 42:11Speaker 1: black reds, like tracks shooting from each side of his arm,
- 42:16Speaker 1: and shit. Tyrone's like, oh my god, dude, what the
- 42:18Speaker 1: fuck is going on with your arm? Do not put
- 42:21Speaker 1: a fucking needle in that thing. But he's like, come on, Tyrone,
- 42:24Speaker 1: it'll blow if I don't, which I don't know what
- 42:26Speaker 1: the fuck that means. It seems like it'll blow if
- 42:28Speaker 1: you do. You need to quit pumping shit into that thing.
- 42:30Speaker 1: Use a different arm. You've got two of the damn arms,
- 42:33Speaker 1: you know. So anyway, he shoots up into this nasty
- 42:36Speaker 1: little black hole, and it's so uncomfortable to watch because
- 42:38Speaker 1: it's just a close up, of course, of the needle
- 42:41Speaker 1: going into this little fucking pussy black spots gross and
- 42:46Speaker 1: we cut around pretty quick to whatever, like how everyone's
- 42:49Speaker 1: situation is going. This is just another like jarring effect
- 42:54Speaker 1: that this movie does. I feel like, as it picks up,
- 42:56Speaker 1: you're just like cutting around more and more to these
- 42:58Speaker 1: characters and it's so well, it's so effective. Everything is
- 43:03Speaker 1: obviously spiraling out of control right now. Marian shows up
- 43:08Speaker 1: to Big Tim's house or yeah, that's his name, Big Tim.
- 43:11Speaker 1: He gets her a drink and he's just like, you
- 43:13Speaker 1: know what I like the best about a patty chick?
- 43:16Speaker 1: And uh, this is the guy that plays Child's from
- 43:18Speaker 1: the thing. I can't ever remember his name, but that's
- 43:21Speaker 1: who it is. Yeah, He's like, you know what I
- 43:23Speaker 1: like best about patty chicks? But I didn't look up
- 43:25Speaker 1: what a patty chick was. I'm assuming it's someone in
- 43:28Speaker 1: her situation where she is so desperate for heroin that
- 43:30Speaker 1: she's willing to give sex for it or whatever. And
- 43:35Speaker 1: he just says, they give good head and then he
- 43:37Speaker 1: grabs her by the head pretty hard and just starts
- 43:40Speaker 1: forcing her head down and he you know, Anyway, Harry's
- 43:44Speaker 1: tweaking out about his arm. We'll see what happens to
- 43:47Speaker 1: his arm soon enough. Marian's getting dressed at Tim's house.
- 43:50Speaker 1: He invites her to go to this group party that
- 43:52Speaker 1: they're having for more dope like this weekend, and she's like,
- 43:56Speaker 1: I don't think so, I'm not really that hooked, you know,
- 43:58Speaker 1: and he's just like, okay, see you Saturday. The next
- 44:02Speaker 1: shot we see of her as just her crouched in
- 44:04Speaker 1: a fetal position in her bath, with her like whole
- 44:07Speaker 1: face and head underwater, and she starts screaming while she's underwater.
- 44:11Speaker 1: This is one of the scenes that inspired or was
- 44:14Speaker 1: inspired by, the movie Perfect Blue, which Aeronofski also did
- 44:18Speaker 1: Black Swan, which has scenes inspired by Perfect Blue. So
- 44:21Speaker 1: I just thought that was really neat. Obviously a fan
- 44:23Speaker 1: of that movie. Fantastic movie, probably the best animated movie
- 44:27Speaker 1: ever made in my opinion, shout out to Perfect Blue
- 44:32Speaker 1: and cham Sarah's at the hospital and she is still
- 44:35Speaker 1: just talking about being on TV and the doctors are
- 44:37Speaker 1: just like, yeah, so, how long you've been addicted to
- 44:40Speaker 1: drugs and shit like that, and She's just like, oh, Mike,
- 44:42Speaker 1: Harry's gonna be on TV with me and we're gonna
- 44:45Speaker 1: have we're gonna win a juice or she keeps talking
- 44:48Speaker 1: about like we're gonna win the prizes, but we're gonna
- 44:50Speaker 1: give them all back to people that need him anyway,
- 44:53Speaker 1: we're with Tyrone. He takes another look at Harry's arm
- 44:56Speaker 1: and is like, all right, Bud, we gotta get you
- 44:59Speaker 1: to the goddamn ho. So Harry goes to the er
- 45:02Speaker 1: and the doctor just starts noticing his arm in the
- 45:04Speaker 1: giant track market and he's just like what and the
- 45:07Speaker 1: holy fuck is going on here? The doctor grabs all
- 45:10Speaker 1: the drugs, like any pain medicine that are in the
- 45:13Speaker 1: room and just like sticks them in his pocket and
- 45:15Speaker 1: leaves and calls the fucking police. Sarah is being strapped
- 45:19Speaker 1: up and forest fed while these guys are just casually
- 45:21Speaker 1: talking about their day. This guy's just like, yeah, you'll
- 45:24Speaker 1: never guess how much money I met at the or
- 45:26Speaker 1: one at the damn blackjack table. And they're just like
- 45:28Speaker 1: pinching her nose and like force feeding slop into her
- 45:31Speaker 1: mouth or whatever, like you know, potato soupsh mash shit
- 45:36Speaker 1: mashed potatoes and stuff like that. Just like eat up, bitch,
- 45:38Speaker 1: we're gonna talk about gambling right now, because apparently while
- 45:42Speaker 1: she's been taking these diet pills, they've suppressed her appetite
- 45:44Speaker 1: so much that she has not been able to eat,
- 45:46Speaker 1: which is part of one of the reasons why I
- 45:49Speaker 1: think she's so unwell right now. I was reading about this,
- 45:52Speaker 1: It's like, I guess, like abusing amphetamines like this can
- 45:57Speaker 1: cause a form of psychosis, which is what's going on
- 46:00Speaker 1: with her right now. Tyrone is getting some funny looks
- 46:03Speaker 1: in the waiting room of the hospital. I mean, he
- 46:05Speaker 1: kind of looks like a junkie too, And then a
- 46:07Speaker 1: cop steps in front of him. Also, I think it's
- 46:09Speaker 1: because he's black and they're in like some sort of
- 46:11Speaker 1: like southern racist town. Apparently this cop steps out in
- 46:14Speaker 1: front of him, and I think he knows that he's fucked.
- 46:17Speaker 1: I think he knows the jig is up. Sarah is
- 46:19Speaker 1: being hooked up to a feeding tube through her nose
- 46:21Speaker 1: or just like cramming this fucking thing up there, and
- 46:24Speaker 1: then we're cutting to shots of Marion. She's putting on
- 46:26Speaker 1: like a lot of dark makeup. Her apartment is also
- 46:29Speaker 1: really dark, with like this purple lighting coming through the windows.
- 46:32Speaker 1: Really really great looking scene here really sets the tone.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Harry calls and she asks when he's coming home, and
- 46:39Speaker 1: he's just he's like crying at this point, he's kind
- 46:42Speaker 1: of like huddled up next to his payphone and he
- 46:44Speaker 1: just says soon. And she asks if he can come
- 46:46Speaker 1: home today, and he says, yeah, come home today, and
- 46:49Speaker 1: he starts crying. And the whole thing is just terrible
- 46:51Speaker 1: because you know, that's not fucking happening. You know, his
- 46:54Speaker 1: ass is probably getting arrested with Tyrone. He asks her
- 46:57Speaker 1: to wait for him and tells her that he's sorry,
- 46:59Speaker 1: and she's like, I know, and then they hang up.
- 47:01Speaker 1: It's just the whole thing's pretty awful. Yeah, there's a
- 47:05Speaker 1: reason why. Whenever I was getting ready to watch this
- 47:08Speaker 1: movie and I was reading people's like reaction to it,
- 47:10Speaker 1: they were saying, like, I was depressed for weeks after
- 47:13Speaker 1: watching this movie. It is very depressing. Sarah's not responding
- 47:17Speaker 1: to the meds that the doctors are trying to give
- 47:19Speaker 1: her to reverse her psychosis and get her health back
- 47:23Speaker 1: in order. I guess Tyrone and Harry we see them
- 47:26Speaker 1: in jail. Harry's arm is just like really giving him
- 47:29Speaker 1: a hard time. It hurts all the time. It just
- 47:32Speaker 1: seems like he's always in a lot of pain, and
- 47:34Speaker 1: they're both just kind of like screaming for help in
- 47:36Speaker 1: their cell because of his arm. We see Marion. She
- 47:39Speaker 1: knocks on Tim's door. She walks into this dark apartment.
- 47:43Speaker 1: There's just like fifteen to twenty people in there with flashlights,
- 47:46Speaker 1: and you can kind of see like some naked women
- 47:48Speaker 1: in the bedroom, like on the bed. Sarah's going through
- 47:51Speaker 1: a little electro shock therapy at this point, so that's
- 47:54Speaker 1: what I guess. This is like a real thing. I
- 47:56Speaker 1: can't remember what they called it, obviously, like the electric
- 48:00Speaker 1: shock therapy is real. But for their like certain mental disorders,
- 48:05Speaker 1: they would I don't know if they still do, but
- 48:07Speaker 1: they would use electro shock therapy to try to reverse them.
- 48:11Speaker 1: And I think I was reading that it's like even
- 48:14Speaker 1: for things like depression they would do this. So I
- 48:19Speaker 1: didn't look in to see if they're still doing this.
- 48:21Speaker 1: But this is fucking crazy. They just like shove a
- 48:23Speaker 1: big mouthguard in there and they just start blasting the
- 48:26Speaker 1: sides of her head with these metal rods. I'm never
- 48:28Speaker 1: gonna go to the doctor and complain about my mental
- 48:31Speaker 1: health ever after seeing this movie, I'm just gonna be like, no,
- 48:34Speaker 1: I am fine, trust me, you don't need to blast
- 48:38Speaker 1: my brain with electricity. I'll figure it out. I guess.
- 48:41Speaker 1: At the jail they're clearing prisoners for work. They're just
- 48:44Speaker 1: like going down the line. They're like, hey, clear, you know,
- 48:47Speaker 1: they catch a whiff of Harry's arm. This Joe is
- 48:49Speaker 1: just like, holy fuck, that guy's arm stinks worse than
- 48:52Speaker 1: he does. He'll be dead soon. He'll be dead before
- 48:56Speaker 1: the end of the week. See you later, if motherfucker
- 48:57Speaker 1: you're gonna die. At the apartment, we just see, you know,
- 49:01Speaker 1: Tim's apartment, we just see four women just like scissoring
- 49:04Speaker 1: hard as hell in this bed. It's like an over
- 49:06Speaker 1: the top shot. One of the women she's just like,
- 49:09Speaker 1: what are we gonna do next? And this old guy
- 49:11Speaker 1: just like close up on his face and he's wearing
- 49:14Speaker 1: a suit. He just goes ass to ass and everyone
- 49:18Speaker 1: just starts cheering all these It's like this crowd of
- 49:22Speaker 1: guys like they're it's almost like those scenes that you
- 49:26Speaker 1: would see when people are betting on like you know,
- 49:28Speaker 1: I guess, like dog fighting or something like that in
- 49:30Speaker 1: the movie where they're like in this CD underground environment
- 49:34Speaker 1: and they're like got dollar bills in their hands and
- 49:36Speaker 1: they're just like throwing down dollar bills. I don't know,
- 49:38Speaker 1: that's what it reminded me of. So anyway, it's not
- 49:41Speaker 1: exactly the same, but similar vibe. They're they start looming
- 49:44Speaker 1: up this big double headed dildo putting condoms on it.
- 49:48Speaker 1: For some reason, I didn't really understand that. I was like,
- 49:51Speaker 1: I don't know if you have to put a condom
- 49:52Speaker 1: on a dildo, I don't think. I mean maybe, I guess,
- 49:56Speaker 1: you know, maybe it's not a bad idea if somebody
- 49:58Speaker 1: else has already been using it might create a barrier.
- 50:04Speaker 1: I guess if someone in there has anyway, you understand,
- 50:08Speaker 1: everyone's surrounding the bed. They're just chanting ass too ass, ass,
- 50:12Speaker 1: too ass. And I don't know if this is supposed
- 50:14Speaker 1: to be mirroring like the Juice by Tappy thing that
- 50:16Speaker 1: we saw at the beginning and the Juice Show, But
- 50:19Speaker 1: the audio from all these scenes will kind of like overlap,
- 50:21Speaker 1: and you'll just hear like Tyrone, he's working in the
- 50:25Speaker 1: prison now and he's just having to like mash up
- 50:27Speaker 1: like this giant vat of potatoes, and you just hear
- 50:30Speaker 1: like people saying like mashed potatoes, like right as Sarah's
- 50:33Speaker 1: getting the hell shocked out of her head and stuff
- 50:36Speaker 1: like that, or like you know, Mary and will be
- 50:39Speaker 1: like slamming asses with this lady and they'll be screaming
- 50:41Speaker 1: about mashed potatoes. Anyway, Tyrone's stirring the damn mashed potatoes.
- 50:45Speaker 1: The doctors they're telling Harry that they're going to have
- 50:48Speaker 1: to take his arm off at the shoulder and they're
- 50:50Speaker 1: kind of like prepping him for surgery. And yeah, we
- 50:54Speaker 1: also see Marion and this other lady just slamming their
- 50:57Speaker 1: their like sticky asses together. There's like a ton of
- 51:00Speaker 1: on this dildo and it's creating a mess. The whole
- 51:04Speaker 1: thing's a fucking nightmare. Honestly. It all peaks with the
- 51:08Speaker 1: saw blade cutting through Harry's arm, cutting his fucking arm off,
- 51:12Speaker 1: while the guys at the sex party are just yelling
- 51:15Speaker 1: come over and over again. They're just like come, come, come,
- 51:18Speaker 1: and then you just see fucking blood shoot out at
- 51:20Speaker 1: Harry's arm all over his face and it's like Jesus Christ.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Harry has the dream where he sees Marian at the
- 51:27Speaker 1: end of the dock in the red dress again. He
- 51:29Speaker 1: runs over to her, but when he gets to the end,
- 51:31Speaker 1: she's not there, and he like kind of slips and
- 51:34Speaker 1: falls off a roof and lands in like a shitty
- 51:36Speaker 1: looking alleyway. When he wakes up, we see him missing
- 51:39Speaker 1: his left arm at the hospital and the nurse is
- 51:41Speaker 1: trying to comfort him. She's like, who's Marian, you know,
- 51:44Speaker 1: because he was saying Marian when he woke up, and
- 51:47Speaker 1: he's like, he's like, she's not gonna come visit me,
- 51:50Speaker 1: and she's like, oh, I'm sure she'll come. I'm sure
- 51:52Speaker 1: she'll be here. I'm sure she'll come, and she just
- 51:54Speaker 1: kind of keeps telling him that when he's just like,
- 51:56Speaker 1: you know, fucking realizing that his arm's Sarah's friends go
- 52:02Speaker 1: to visit her in the mental institution. Her hair is
- 52:05Speaker 1: just cut down, super short, and she just has this
- 52:07Speaker 1: super blank look on her face, like basically she looks
- 52:10Speaker 1: like she's been lobotomized. Marian is lying on her couch
- 52:14Speaker 1: with a bunch of fashion pictures scattered on the floor.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Oh and we also see that like I think I
- 52:20Speaker 1: forgot to put this down, But we see Sarah's friends
- 52:22Speaker 1: like crying outside because they realize she is done for Marian.
- 52:27Speaker 1: Lying on the couch, we see all the fashion pictures
- 52:29Speaker 1: scattered on the floor from her previous dreams, you know,
- 52:33Speaker 1: once in desires in life. She puts the wad of
- 52:36Speaker 1: like money or dope and just kind of like has
- 52:39Speaker 1: this like kind of awkward smile, and then she curls
- 52:42Speaker 1: up into the fetal position. Tyrone is going through withdraw
- 52:45Speaker 1: and jail and just thinking about the promises that he
- 52:48Speaker 1: made to his mom, and he kind of curls up
- 52:50Speaker 1: into the fetal position as well. Sarah's in her hospital bed,
- 52:54Speaker 1: still imagining herself on the Juice TV show. Shooter McGavin
- 52:58Speaker 1: is telling her about how her son just got married
- 53:00Speaker 1: and runs his own successful business. Harry comes out. They
- 53:03Speaker 1: hug and they just tell each other like I love you, Ma,
- 53:06Speaker 1: and she's like, I love you, Harry, and they hug,
- 53:09Speaker 1: and then she curls up into the fetal position and
- 53:12Speaker 1: then we get the credits. Jeez, Louise, talk about a
- 53:20Speaker 1: bummer ass movie. It serves me right for doing this
- 53:23Speaker 1: goddamn bummer movie Marathon. What was I thinking about? It's
- 53:29Speaker 1: ruining my month already. This movie, it really just highlights
- 53:32Speaker 1: how dark drug addiction really is. I know there's always
- 53:35Speaker 1: been a sense of glamorizing drug use through like celebrities
- 53:39Speaker 1: and fashion and whatnot at certain points in time, but
- 53:42Speaker 1: for most people it looks more like this, and at
- 53:45Speaker 1: least like some version of this. I don't know if
- 53:47Speaker 1: everyone ends up blasting away at a double headed dildo
- 53:50Speaker 1: with a bunch of people surrounding the bed like they're
- 53:52Speaker 1: watching a Mortal Kombat match, or get their fucking arm
- 53:55Speaker 1: chopped off by the shoulder and have their brain shocked
- 53:57Speaker 1: too much, but it definitely does happen. I mean, like
- 54:02Speaker 1: I said, everyone's experience is probably different. I'm sure there's
- 54:05Speaker 1: probably like events leading to things like this, and people
- 54:09Speaker 1: get clean, they get help, they jump off or something
- 54:12Speaker 1: like that, and they're eventually able to come back and
- 54:14Speaker 1: rehabit everything like that and deal with their addictions. But
- 54:18Speaker 1: if you don't, I feel like the end result in
- 54:21Speaker 1: this movie is pretty likely. It's pretty scary. As far
- 54:25Speaker 1: as the rating goes, I mean, I feel like I
- 54:27Speaker 1: kind of have to give this movie a five out
- 54:29Speaker 1: of five. It's very well done. Five out of five. Doublehadildos.
- 54:35Speaker 1: It hammers. It hammers the point home of the movie
- 54:38Speaker 1: like no other it's super effective, all while being done
- 54:41Speaker 1: in an incredibly creative way way, So it's just yeah,
- 54:46Speaker 1: I don't think I've ever seen a movie like this.
- 54:48Speaker 1: I mean, I've seen other drug movies. I've seen other
- 54:50Speaker 1: surrealist movies that are very like dark and have this
- 54:53Speaker 1: feeling of like impending doom the whole time, that are
- 54:56Speaker 1: also super effective. But this one's just as good as any.
- 55:00Speaker 1: I'd say, it's got to be up there. So yeah,
- 55:05Speaker 1: it has its own style too, which is really great.
- 55:10Speaker 1: Oh God. Next week we're gonna round out the bumber
- 55:12Speaker 1: movie marathon with the war film Come and See. And
- 55:17Speaker 1: I don't really know much about this movie. I've just
- 55:19Speaker 1: heard it's a rough one. I've seen a clip here
- 55:22Speaker 1: and there when people are talking about it. Yeah, we'll see.
- 55:28Speaker 1: We'll see how this one goes. So join me next
- 55:31Speaker 1: week for Come and See. Thanks for listening to No No, No, No,
- 56:15Speaker 1: Not of the Bay
