- 0:06This is a Duckfellas Podcast, your weekly dose of waterfall wisdom,
- 0:11blind banter, and hunting stories that might just be mostly true.
- 0:16Hosted by Tyler, Cade, and Pookie. Three fellas chasing feathers and good times.
- 0:24Do us a favor and hit that like button.
- 0:28Wherever you may be listening in at today.
- 0:35Welcome back. Had to throw in the pookie. Had to. Here we are again for another week.
- 0:42We got to start throwing some wrenches in every once in a while.
- 0:45Keep people on their toes.
- 0:47I don't even know how that started, but I feel like that's what I'm referred to all the time now.
- 0:54I have heard you call pookie. Every time I call somebody else Pookie,
- 0:58I got to, nope, never mind, never mind. You're not Pookie.
- 1:02We already have one of those. I do appreciate how loyal you are to me with that name.
- 1:08It's not much, but it's honest work. Somebody's got to do it.
- 1:12Well, we'll get into a little bit of hunting stories from this week.
- 1:17It was not a bad week of hunting. It was my last week of duck hunting for the
- 1:22season in the state of Iowa. What did you just say?
- 1:28I think he said he loves you. Yeah, that's what I thought. How do your shit break in? Hmm.
- 1:36It was one time. It's probably because you guys are too mean to it.
- 1:41If we don't, or if you don't break your stuff, there's no way we are harder on it than you are.
- 1:49The big boat works just fine. It didn't.
- 1:53There was one problem this year, and that was batteries. and lights on it too,
- 1:59because of your batteries no it was a switch oh it wasn't get your shit together,
- 2:06if you're gonna come at me come out with these facts bro it's alright dude you
- 2:10and boat lights just don't match they definitely don't get along,
- 2:16it's alright and Cade just saved the day.
- 2:21Not really. I thought he was about to just land hoe the little boat.
- 2:26Every other year I would have been totally screwed.
- 2:30If it would have been Austin running the boat, dude, he'd be,
- 2:32he'd be on top of the willow trees 10 feet in the air. He legit, he legit said that.
- 2:38Yeah. He legit said that. He's like, I would have beached that fucker so hard.
- 2:42Yeah. Yeah. I would have.
- 2:44Without a doubt. That would have been awesome.
- 2:48That would have been a great clip though for a reel on our Instagram.
- 2:52How would you have got it? Well, I would have recorded us pulling up to him
- 2:56in the willow. What are you doing?
- 3:00Hey, you can't park there. How'd you get here? Until you saw how messed up your
- 3:05boat was. Not any care at that point.
- 3:08It would have been worth the laugh.
- 3:11That's fair. I get it. Yeah, so the backstory behind that one, it was snowing decent.
- 3:17I mean, it wasn't snowing super hard, but hard enough to where you couldn't really see shit.
- 3:21Your eyes were getting pelted with little ice pellets.
- 3:25Hit a wave going back to our little hole, and the lights went out on the boat.
- 3:30So I looked back to see if the light was still on on the switch panel. It indeed was.
- 3:35Turned around, put the freaking strobe light on. All I saw was weeds, and I said, oh, shit.
- 3:44Yeah, we made it into the hole just fine.
- 3:47And we're sitting there, and I'm like, well, that's not good.
- 3:51Where's Cade we waited for it felt like forever but I think it was like 30 seconds
- 3:57and I'm like we better go find him because something happened,
- 4:02I was just glad that I got that thing trimmed up and turned off before I even
- 4:05got any sort of shallow I even had to push the boat into the weeds more to get
- 4:10it to not try to keep rolling down,
- 4:14Yeah, definitely avoided a possibly much worse situation with that.
- 4:20Oh, that could have been real bad.
- 4:24But, I mean, all in all, the week of hunting was not bad.
- 4:28Not bad. I mean, it was a slower year in general, but it definitely got better
- 4:33as the season went on, per usual.
- 4:37That's usually how it works. Usually this week is our first real,
- 4:41like, big push of birds. so it's kind of par for the course.
- 4:45Yeah. The only difference this year is I guess the DNR probably got the seasons
- 4:51right this year because it looks like we're going to freeze up for a hot minute here.
- 4:56I mean, there won't be much open water other than a river by Thursday.
- 5:03Fine with me. Fine with me too. I hope it all freezes up so tight that nobody
- 5:07can duck hunt in the whole state of Iowa the rest of the season.
- 5:10Jeez. Just because you're gone doesn't mean I think you ought to be so mean to us. Just you. Yeah.
- 5:17At least make sure the river's open for this weekend. Come on.
- 5:21I'll think about it. Yeah. Talk to Mother Nature. See what you can do.
- 5:26Yeah. I'll put in a good word for you guys.
- 5:29We know you won't. You're right. You caught me.
- 5:34And then, I don't know, we had, what, three or four pretty good hunts last week in general. Yep.
- 5:42Because we didn't hunt Sunday or Monday when we got back from North Dakota.
- 5:46Mm-mm. And then it got pretty good. I mean, it wasn't the best, but it was good.
- 5:51I was gone for a couple days. That was nice.
- 5:55Yep, I bet. Thanksgiving out of state, but the wife and I had to cut that trip
- 6:00short due to weather. so ended up coming back and being able to hunt the last
- 6:05couple days while you were here.
- 6:07That was probably a good call for you guys to head home. Yeah.
- 6:10Yeah, when we woke up Sunday morning and saw that I-80 was travel not advised
- 6:16across the entire state of Iowa,
- 6:19and the line of cars on the news stopped in traffic due to accidents,
- 6:25I was, I mean, it always sucks because we just don't get up there as much as
- 6:29we would like to, But to sit in traffic,
- 6:32standstill traffic for four hours and add that to a seven-hour drive would have been even worse.
- 6:39Yeah. Yeah, when I left Sunday to head back to work, it was pretty messed up all the way across Iowa.
- 6:46I mean, the farther east I got, the better it got.
- 6:50But that first hour, so I got to almost Iowa City, the roads were pretty bad.
- 6:55Mm-hmm well I think even still when you left like it was travel not advised
- 7:01on 80 like all the way clear past Grinnell yeah I was not supposed to be driving mm-hmm recommendation,
- 7:08minor recommendation what else happened Sunday morning.
- 7:13Austin went back to bed. Oh, there it is. That's why we didn't go hunting Sunday. Yep, yep.
- 7:19That's what I was looking for there.
- 7:22These guys give me shit for being five minutes late most of the time,
- 7:26and they left me hanging again.
- 7:28Well, hey, listen. I did wake up late, but I woke up. I responded.
- 7:35Pookie was taking way too long to respond. I'm like, this guy went back to sleep.
- 7:40Five minutes at three-something in the morning, though, means you're definitely
- 7:43back in bed yeah oh yeah no no no i was i i got up on time got dressed,
- 7:49talked to cade and tyler was nowhere to
- 7:52be found you know what's crazy though is you you got
- 7:55you were up and out of bed so you could have just went to cade's got in his truck
- 7:58brought the little boat over and we could have just knocked on the door and
- 8:01said hey bitch wake up let's go yeah i mean after the day of hunting and it
- 8:08sounded like people had out there and the unfortunate circumstances that you
- 8:12actually didn't have to go back to work right then and we could have hunted all day.
- 8:19Yeah, we should have been out there. If we would have gone where Tyler and I
- 8:23talked about going, we wouldn't have been there all day. He could have still went to work on time.
- 8:29Yeah, so actually it only took Austin two minutes to respond,
- 8:32but it did feel like 30 minutes.
- 8:35It felt like a good half hour. I'm not going to disagree with you there.
- 8:38No, no, I was super ticked because I, you know, I wasn't real mad about not
- 8:43going because I had to drive a ton yesterday.
- 8:46Day but when they texted me and
- 8:49said oh yeah we're not gonna start till the afternoon and
- 8:52we didn't even do anything today fyi no work
- 8:55but i was like god no
- 8:59we really wish we would have gone hunting because i don't have to be at work
- 9:02till later in the day monday so that sucks should just hook the boat up came
- 9:08out but i was already on the road oh yeah duh should have just turned around
- 9:14You were only three hours from home.
- 9:16Only. I'd have got a home in time to hunt like an hour and a half.
- 9:21We could have done it. That would have been all it would have taken.
- 9:27Too bad. So sad. Mistakes were made. Now Tyler's done for the year.
- 9:33I'm done for the year in Iowa. Yeah, in Iowa. At least done duck hunting in
- 9:38the year for the year in Iowa.
- 9:41I wouldn't rule out a trip to Missouri, Oklahoma, Kansas Nebraska I'm intrigued,
- 9:50Those are all viable options I like going to Nebraska late in the year Twist
- 9:54my arm How would I do that?
- 9:57Might give you a rug burn That's weird What?
- 10:04Tyler's been up far too long He didn't get adequate sleep last night Nah,
- 10:08I got like three hours It was awesome That's about all you sleep anyway. Usually four.
- 10:16Yeah, no, it was a fun week. Lots of snow Friday night into Saturday.
- 10:23Not as much as they were calling for, though.
- 10:25No, but that snow Saturday was a pain in the ass.
- 10:29Yeah, no, it definitely turned our whole spread into a slushie.
- 10:34And we had a lot of snow goose decoys out. It was a lot.
- 10:38Which we did have three snow goose decoys, or three snow geese work in the morning.
- 10:44So maybe I thought we were going to absolutely crunch those things mmhmm,
- 10:50that was almost pretty cool yeah well shall we dad got to shoot the spec that
- 10:57was cool oh yeah I forgot to shoot the spec can't leave that guy hanging out because Pookie,
- 11:02didn't have his gun loaded nope was getting ready it was loaded he just had
- 11:06the shell hanging out the side yep I was getting ready to go be a nice guy and
- 11:10clean off the decoys for us I couldn't do it I was making breakfast burritos
- 11:16and then that thing was just,
- 11:19absolute feet up saying oh my gosh look at all my friends feet up or feet down
- 11:25feet up feet up okay so he was coming in upside interesting he almost was there for a second,
- 11:33he was just inside out.
- 11:36There it is. That was sweet. I wish they all did it like that.
- 11:40Me too. But then it wouldn't be any fun. It'd be too easy.
- 11:44It'd still be fun. Yeah. I mean, I could definitely go for some easy days.
- 11:50We don't get those around here. There's too many people. I like to challenge. Of course you do.
- 11:57Anyways, who cares? We're moving on. Who cares?
- 12:03Hunting's dumb. Who are you? You're just mad you can't go this weekend.
- 12:07I'm not mad, actually. I'm going to be making money. That is true.
- 12:10I haven't worked in over 30 days, so I think it's time to make a couple bucks.
- 12:16Ellie's kibble supply is running low. Dog's got to eat. Yeah.
- 12:22She's currently passed out. If you guys can see her back there,
- 12:26like a whole sack of potatoes. She's out.
- 12:30Anyways, this week we're going to discuss decoy brands and styles.
- 12:34Everybody's got their preference.
- 12:36But there are some that are better than others. I guess we'll just kick it off.
- 12:42What's everybody's favorite brand of decoy? Like, what do you guys prefer?
- 12:45No, Austin's opinion doesn't really matter, but... That is true.
- 12:52I personally feel like all around, it's harder to beat a Dakota.
- 12:57Copycat. Can't steal my answers. Then why'd you ask me?
- 13:03That's awfully nice of you. I appreciate you for that. You're welcome.
- 13:07Yeah, their duck floaters look absolutely badass.
- 13:11They hold up to the shit you do to them very well. Because you are not nice to anything.
- 13:18No, it shouldn't have to be nice. I mean, obviously, I agree with you.
- 13:25Dakotas are my favorite. I've ran avians in the past quite a bit.
- 13:31They weren't a bad decoy. They
- 13:32hold up good, but I've had troubles with their paint holding up to me.
- 13:38After about three years, they were all black. So I got rid of those.
- 13:44I've tried the dive bombs.
- 13:46Everybody here knows my opinion on those. Those things could just disappear
- 13:49off the face of the earth other than their pintail decoys.
- 13:52I do like their pintails. Those things are sick. Yeah.
- 13:57But I just don't like the movement. They don't have good movement, period.
- 14:01They're a lot like an Avian. I don't think Avians move as well as some of the other brands.
- 14:07But the Dye Bomb Mallards can just frick off. I'm not a fan.
- 14:12I don't like the postures. I don't think the paint's all that and a bag of chips.
- 14:16All around not a fan. That's the cool thing about your Dakotas too is for how,
- 14:21I guess you could call them heavy. I mean, they're on the heavier side.
- 14:26Those things move around with no wind.
- 14:29Yeah. Yeah. They're definitely on the heavier side, but for the way we hunt,
- 14:33it doesn't really matter.
- 14:34But there is lighter options too. They got the packables. I mean,
- 14:37they've got everything you could think of.
- 14:39I've also had greenhead gears growing up, Lambos, all that stuff.
- 14:45I mean, it's hard to beat a G&H durability.
- 14:49The OG G&Hs were some of the best.
- 14:54Justin, what do you like? Well, the only thing I've really ever hunted over are Dakotas.
- 15:01So, I mean, you have, what, 13, 14 dozen? Something like that. Yeah.
- 15:09Ducks and how many ever dozen honkers? So,
- 15:14yeah, I mean, when you get to hunt over those all the time and I can consistently
- 15:20get to look at them during cloudy days, sunny days, is just see how good they
- 15:25look, see how good they move,
- 15:26and how well I think that they can bring in birds for you with just how good they look.
- 15:33I mean, when that's all you're used to, you're like, yeah, well,
- 15:36I mean, it works. It's like, why would I go to or want to try to do anything else?
- 15:43Right. The one good thing about Dakota, too, is their warranty is pretty decent.
- 15:49They're fairly, as long as you get a hold of them, which during hunting season
- 15:52is harder to do to get a hold of them, but they do stand behind their product
- 15:56fairly well whenever they do respond.
- 15:59Are your Dakotas your favorite also for goose decoys, or do you have other ones
- 16:04you like for goose decoys?
- 16:06I haven't found one that I like better than a Dakota for goose decoys either.
- 16:10We've hunted over a lot of different shit.
- 16:15I started out, well, not I didn't start out, but I used to have a good handful
- 16:19of avians, and I like the look of the avian full bodies.
- 16:24But I do not like their bases.
- 16:28Yeah. That system does not last, never lasted for me.
- 16:33It would eventually wear that groove out and they would just collapse. Yep.
- 16:39The new Avian paint's pretty cool, too. More of that, like, brown, creamish color.
- 16:43Yeah, I think it's a pretty decent looking decoy. Just I wish they'd change their bases up.
- 16:48You still have a handful of those, don't you?
- 16:51Like, four, I think. Four or five, or just a few. But yeah, I got a few.
- 16:56Very few, but yeah. Now you can definitely tell when you grab one of those with
- 17:00the base, because they're usually broke.
- 17:02Actually, I'm pretty sure all four or five of those are broke.
- 17:07I've already replaced them like three times so you can get the
- 17:10replacement cones for them but they just don't last i've i
- 17:15mean i've got a little bit of everything from in my goose trailer i've
- 17:18got doas final approaches some higdens
- 17:22i believe some gna or greenhead gears
- 17:26a little bit of all of it and then
- 17:29once again the dakotas even their bases just
- 17:32seem to hold up the best the rubber bands on the bottom that hold
- 17:34the base on don't wear out hardly
- 17:38at all i've had a couple that the the inside the
- 17:41guts have broken a little bit but they still work you just gotta twist the band
- 17:47on the bottom around once to tighten it up if bigfoot could find a way to keep
- 17:52their feet and heads on like where you didn't have to put screws in them those
- 17:57things would be hard to beat,
- 17:59I just wish they had movement and they, you didn't have to stake them down in high winds. Yeah.
- 18:04Dude, that's been so annoying. It gets real windy. You look out and,
- 18:09oh, half the decoys are laying down taking a nap.
- 18:13Well, that's how our spread looked in North Dakota every single time we'd shoot
- 18:18a goose because either one or both of the dogs took the most direct route to
- 18:25whatever was on the ground.
- 18:26Yeah, they looked like pinball machines going through there.
- 18:30That would have been a great GoPro video. Yeah, it was terrible.
- 18:34So what kind of goes into your decision on the paint or on the paint, on the decoys, Cade?
- 18:40I mean, obviously we kind of discussed a little bit about how the paint holds
- 18:43up and the durability, blah, blah, blah.
- 18:45But is there any more that goes into kind of when you're looking at a decoy,
- 18:49which one you like or which one you would want?
- 18:52It's hard to tell looking at them, but obviously like paint's the biggest one.
- 18:56And if the paint stays on, I feel like half of them, especially the way that
- 19:00we beat them up and throw them in the little boat. But it doesn't really take
- 19:04a whole lot to beat the shit out of the paint. Right.
- 19:09The flocking is the biggest part for me. I don't know what Dakota does,
- 19:14but I have, I mean, obviously I have some decoys that are missing flocking just
- 19:18from the way my weight systems are set up.
- 19:21But for the way they get beat up and the flocking holds up great, I think.
- 19:28Compared to a lot of decoys. And that was my biggest worry with going to flocked
- 19:32heads. was they would not last.
- 19:34Yeah, they hold up surprisingly well for what we do with them.
- 19:39I'm really surprised on the Black Ducks. Oh, yeah.
- 19:43Those things look like new still, basically. After a full season of getting destroyed.
- 19:51But with you picking up another, would you get two dozen?
- 19:56Two dozen Mallards and a dozen Black Ducks.
- 19:59So I kind of just kept a mental note all year of how those looked.
- 20:04And then like, obviously now we're at the end of the season.
- 20:07And I mean, like you guys have said, I mean, we're rough on stuff.
- 20:12And they still just look pretty well brand new after a first full season of getting,
- 20:20banged around in the little boat and thrown around and the weights taking on
- 20:24and off around their heads and whatnot too. They look good.
- 20:29Yeah, I feel like if it was up to Tyler, we would take every dozen of his new
- 20:35decoys, hook them up to the hitch of his truck and just drag them down his rock
- 20:39driveway just to break them in.
- 20:42What was it? Two years ago, we were unboxing some decoys at my house,
- 20:46goose decoys. I think it was last year. Either way, whatever.
- 20:52You guys were grabbing them and like setting them in the trailer all nice.
- 20:54And I said, fuck that. I just grabbed one and chucked it into the trailer.
- 20:58Well, before that, I dropped one.
- 21:00I dropped one in the shop and I was like, sorry, dude. And you're like,
- 21:05fuck that thing. Kicked it all the way across the shop. I was like, okay.
- 21:10Got to break them in right. Yeah.
- 21:13Spoil them and then beat the hell out of them. Yeah. If they can't last one
- 21:17little fall on some concrete, they ain't going to last me chucking them halfway across the field.
- 21:22Yeah. As much abuse as your floaters take, those full-body honkers just get yeeted across fields.
- 21:33Well, they're not all broke, at least. That is true. No.
- 21:38Just the stands. There's a little tack weld on the stands. Don't last.
- 21:41But that doesn't affect the way they perform.
- 21:44We also know a welder if we're that worried about it. Not worried about it.
- 21:50That's way too much work. That takes time. We don't have that. All right.
- 21:55I want to hear you talk about this one. As far as mallard floaters go,
- 21:59what do you like for postures?
- 22:02I know we kind of struggle with some of the feeders that you have,
- 22:06mainly because I think they're actually all dive bombs that we struggle with.
- 22:09They are. You got rid of most of them.
- 22:12But the feeders, the way you do your anchor system, we put the anchor over the
- 22:18head when we're done, put them back in the little boat. The anchors always fall off.
- 22:23It can be a real pain in the butt. Yeah. As long as they don't get tangled up
- 22:28and everything, it's not that bad.
- 22:30But when they fall off and you've got... Because I've run 25-foot lines on the
- 22:35decoys because you never know the depth you're going to hunt year in and year out.
- 22:38So if you have 20-foot-o line...
- 22:42Tangled up in the bottom of that boat, that will make me pull the plug on the
- 22:46boat and sink it to the bottom.
- 22:49The other thing I don't really like about the feeders is when it starts getting
- 22:52icy, like if you have big waves, it'll ice that whole head up.
- 22:56And then they start just turning over.
- 22:59Yeah, that's kind of why I've got away from the dive bombs.
- 23:02They do, the feeders look decent, but in all honesty, if a duck's that close
- 23:08where it notices the feeders from the ones that are sitting there,
- 23:11they should not be alive yeah it's it's time to shoot like you're good enough let's get it,
- 23:18smiling about over there me yeah nothing
- 23:22it's just yeah just the way that you're like
- 23:25oh yeah I mean you're very particular about things but then at the same point
- 23:30you're like well if they can notice that then they should just be dead anyways
- 23:34it's like yeah well in an ideal world yeah every every day that would be awesome
- 23:39like if I mean if that's the stuff that we were worrying about,
- 23:43or ducks getting that close and not dying,
- 23:47man, we'd have a lot more to complain about, I think.
- 23:49Well, if they get that close, I might as well not even shoot my gun because
- 23:53I'll miss them anyway. Yeah, no, that's facts.
- 23:55Yeah, big facts. 60 and out for Cade.
- 23:58You just need to get rid of that big choke tube for duck season.
- 24:02I've tried like four different choke tubes. I don't think it matters.
- 24:05I just can't hit a duck that's right in front of my face. I think I lead them too far all the time.
- 24:10Probably if you're used to shooting at 100 yards. laughter.
- 24:18What are your guys' preference in mixing different species of ducks into the decoy spread?
- 24:25I love it. Yeah.
- 24:28Well, I'm a big fan of mixing species to a point.
- 24:31I mean, I think if you're trying to mix in gadwalls and wigeon decoys,
- 24:36I don't think, and teal even.
- 24:38I mean, I don't think those are going to make a big difference because they're
- 24:41the same color as a gray duck.
- 24:44I mean, in a mallard, they're all the same colors more or less.
- 24:47Especially early in the season.
- 24:49But if you start adding in like the pintails and the black ducks,
- 24:52like for me, I like the pintails, and I always like to put them at the edge
- 24:55of the spread for the white.
- 24:58Helps just a little bit, I don't know. To me, it feels like it pops a little better.
- 25:04And then we added the black duck decoys this year, and I tell you what,
- 25:07those black ducks on a sunny or cloudy day really pop in that spread.
- 25:13Yeah. I mean, they added a whole other dimension to it.
- 25:16Can't say if they really helped or not because I don't know I feel like we did
- 25:21the same either way but well we didn't kill a black duck in Iowa this year so,
- 25:26we thought we did the other day,
- 25:29I thought I would say that Susie was looking awfully dark she was she was looking
- 25:35real dark over there I think it was just because it was still a dark day outside,
- 25:40she was sitting in white slush laughing.
- 25:45I'll switch gears here. I don't even think we have it really wrote down or anything.
- 25:49And we've been talking about floaters and full bodies the whole time,
- 25:52but the new thing in waterfowl hunting is motion decoys.
- 25:57And we have a little bit that we dabble in, not nearly as much as a lot of people
- 26:03that I see, but what do we got?
- 26:06A couple of spinners, a swimmer.
- 26:08Kate has that mallard machine that absolutely ripped in the slush the other
- 26:13day, ordering two of those immediately.
- 26:17Yeah, that thing's clutch. I will say, haven't tried the new ABNX kicker,
- 26:22but I've heard great things about that.
- 26:24But the, yeah, the Mallard machine from Mojo, that thing is the cat's meow from
- 26:30what I can see. And it lasts all day.
- 26:33You know, it's not like it only runs three or four hours. It's pretty much lasted
- 26:37almost every day for us. We needed it to.
- 26:39I think the only time that it died, it was we used it in the morning one day
- 26:43and then we never charged it and you tried to use it damn near all day again.
- 26:48Yeah. And it lasted most of the day.
- 26:51Yeah, that thing, like if you do just your normal morning hunt till 11 o'clock
- 26:56or noon or whatever, you can get like two or three hunts out of that thing. No problem.
- 27:00I believe it. I mean, like I said, the motion off that thing's phenomenal.
- 27:05Yeah. Especially for how long it lasts.
- 27:10Good things with that avian kicker but avian has so
- 27:14many problems with their motion decoys i know they had problems with that to
- 27:17begin with supposedly they fixed them but it's a lot of money to spend on a
- 27:21decoy that you might take it out of the water and it just stays running never
- 27:25shuts off again because it leaked water in the system which has been the biggest
- 27:29problem with them and you didn't have much luck getting a hold of them for your
- 27:33warranty stuff right on your spinner?
- 27:35No, I tried reaching out multiple times in every way, shape,
- 27:39or form and never heard back from anybody.
- 27:43That's wild. That thing has ran less than eight hours and it just doesn't work.
- 27:48And you're not the only one I know that's had that problem with those.
- 27:51No, there's been several people now that I've been kind of talking to more people about them.
- 27:57Anything with a motor from them, I will never buy again. I don't blame you.
- 28:02I got a bad taste in my mouth.
- 28:04I had considered buying that spinner when it came out, and I was like,
- 28:07oh, I'll give it a year, see what it's like, see what the reviews are on it,
- 28:10and then you and a couple people I know had it, and they were all bad,
- 28:14not a single good review.
- 28:16Yep. Trash.
- 28:20I might as well throw mine in the trash at this point. For as much as you used it, yeah.
- 28:25How much did those things cost, New? I think when I got it, I can't remember
- 28:31exactly. I think it was right around 200 bucks with the remote and.
- 28:35About normal price then. Yeah.
- 28:38But 200 bucks to use it one day and it not work again. Right. That sucks. Yeah.
- 28:45That's a death bill to swallow. Yeah.
- 28:48That swimmer that you have, Austin, that thing rips pretty good too.
- 28:53I definitely have to figure out that.
- 28:57I think that I'm going to have to create its own rigging system instead of just
- 29:03a standard Texas rig that I have on it right now because it definitely needs
- 29:07more room than the length I have on that Texas rig.
- 29:11Now I had kind of debated on maybe doing something similar to how you do your
- 29:17decoys just to give it that room to actually create the full motion that it can.
- 29:22But then the only bad thing is,
- 29:26it seems like if that thing gets going it can get tangled up in a dozen decoys
- 29:34in the blink of an eye and then all of a sudden you just have a big blob of mess decoys,
- 29:41clanging together right in front of you I feel like a longer cord would help
- 29:46that too though because it can kind of go multiple different ways versus it
- 29:50being stuck in like a five or six foot circle it has.
- 29:55I have considered getting that attachment with it as well, too,
- 29:59that you can hook other floaters on.
- 30:04Like a starter choo-choo train. Yeah. Well, I mean, there's no doubt that that
- 30:09thing has the power to push more than one decoy.
- 30:12I mean, that thing will throw water when it turns around.
- 30:15It's a damn jet boat. Yep. Yeah, it wants to take off.
- 30:20Yeah, I think if I can get some kinks worked out in it, it'll be alright.
- 30:24Now granted, the first swimmer that I got didn't work, period. Yeah.
- 30:30Luckily, Lucky Duck was actually super easy to work with, like I called them
- 30:35immediately and had the new one in like two days there.
- 30:41And it worked just fine and it has worked just fine since. I mean, we took it on...
- 30:48Half a dozen or so hunts this
- 30:51year when the wind when the wind was low and it does look
- 30:54good i mean we've had birds land by it while it's moving
- 30:56too so it's clearly effective
- 31:00it's just working out those kinks and being able
- 31:02to like just contain contain what what we need from it well i'll expect you
- 31:11to be out there this summer on the lake in your swim trunks playing with your
- 31:13swimmer trying to perfect it you watch i'll be the only person out there just
- 31:19playing with my plastic ducky.
- 31:26There's one thing like you said though i was kind of worried about it that first
- 31:29day we used it about ducks kind of being like what the hell this thing's like
- 31:33kicking a wake out behind it but they don't care it's it's definitely badass
- 31:38no you smashed that blue wing that landed like a foot away from it.
- 31:44I'm like, there goes my swimmer.
- 31:47Like, that thing's gonna jet right in front. How it was gonna kill this blue wing and my swimmer.
- 31:53Two for one special. Yep.
- 31:56Shit happens when you party naked. Yep. It do be like that.
- 32:03What spinners do you run, Pat? When you like to know. I would, and that's why I asked.
- 32:09Okay. Yeah. So, I run the Lucky Duck.
- 32:12I don't even know which version is now the X HDI or something like that.
- 32:16The ones that have the, the wing black and white wings that always stop with black up.
- 32:21Those are, I've had the best luck with lucky duck in general for warranty and
- 32:27just lasting the longest.
- 32:29I mean, I know my first ones I got, they lasted two years, which I.
- 32:39Better than mojo mojo would last me like three hunts
- 32:42and they would be something wrong with them whether it
- 32:45was a battery already shitting out or the motor going out
- 32:48but every last year
- 32:51i had a problem with those lucky duck hdis and
- 32:54i emailed them about it and they ended up sending me
- 32:57two brand new ones of the new ones and
- 33:01a bag from rogers in return and
- 33:04those lasted all season and are still kicking so i'll tell
- 33:07you what that bag that they sent you that
- 33:11thing is the fucking cat's meow like compared
- 33:14to the way that we like used to have to do
- 33:16it with the single bags and everything no now i mean they're both just right
- 33:20there like that thing is slicker than shit it makes it easier until it gets
- 33:26left on the nose of the little boat and it freezing rains overnight and everything's
- 33:30frozen inside the bag or it doesn't get pushed down in the little boat and
- 33:35you hit a wave and see that thing pop up. Oh, God, I was so scared that day.
- 33:40I think the bag floats, so that would have been a bonus.
- 33:43Yeah, but that was a lot of money just going, whee! Yeah.
- 33:47It happened to me as well, too. Going the long way, and I was like, oh, don't do this to me.
- 33:56Well, I guess we can move on to goose decoys here. The ghosts. I mean, I don't...
- 34:08Goose wise I don't care for motion decoys I think motion decoys flare more Geese
- 34:13than they bring in The only thing we ever use is the flag Because flags definitely
- 34:17help you out I do, me and Austin have been talking about it Making,
- 34:22Kind of backboards for some flags To put in the spread and then having a jerk
- 34:26string Come to the blay out blind,
- 34:28Hopefully we can get those figured out here Before goose season gets going good,
- 34:32We got some, we got a pretty good idea on how we
- 34:35want to do it it's just a matter of putting the idea in place
- 34:38that shouldn't be too terrible i wouldn't think no no
- 34:42and it'll make it a lot easier for flagging because then you don't you can have your doors
- 34:45closed the whole time and you could pretty much flag at
- 34:48them all the way in if you need to they do love that flag especially in north
- 34:54dakota that was rough i i had never flagged like that before i mean looking
- 35:01around and everyone else is down in their blinds and I still have one door open
- 35:06trying to flag on them for as long as I possibly could before they'd see me
- 35:12just to keep their attention.
- 35:15But you mean you haven't flagged like that since high school when you were in
- 35:17the marching band, right? Correct.
- 35:21Dude, I could twirl those flags like it was nobody's business.
- 35:26I was not ready for that one.
- 35:29I was sitting here waiting for them just to shut up so I could throw it out there.
- 35:34I can normally, like, when you say something, I can normally be like,
- 35:37yeah, I kind of saw that one coming, but not that one. That was out of left field. Yeah.
- 35:41I had it ready. It was in the pocket.
- 35:44Locked and loaded. Ladies and gentlemen, he's been thinking of that one for a month.
- 35:50No, just for a whole drive yesterday and last night. Yep.
- 35:56Oh boy anyways okay so
- 36:01when you said a honker spread how many
- 36:04what like what's your ratio or is there different scenarios for your ratios
- 36:09of centuries actives and feeders in your spread if you're hunting a field i've
- 36:16never really like mixed it up too much i mean i obviously,
- 36:22it's hard to say i'm trying to think of how i can put this the way i want to say it Words.
- 36:28Yeah. Words. Words are hard. We, I mean, we've had before I hunted with you,
- 36:34Dawson and I had basically the exact same spread for a lot of years.
- 36:38So like, we didn't really have a whole lot of different options we could use.
- 36:43Aside from like running silhouettes and stuff, which I don't typically like.
- 36:48I use those as fire starters.
- 36:52Yeah. For anybody that doesn't know Tyler absolutely hates silhouettes.
- 36:56And he's starting to make me feel the same way because he just proves it every
- 36:59time we try to use them. I'm like, damn it.
- 37:03Some reason they quit using those in like the 90s or early 2000s.
- 37:07I feel like if you're going to do it, you got to do like all silhouettes or all full bodies.
- 37:13To me and said we're setting an all silhouette spread i'd say all right i'm gonna go back to bed,
- 37:18peace out have fun jeez trash that's just how dramatic he is shut up,
- 37:27i don't know i need i feel like you need a
- 37:30lot less like head up centuries than
- 37:34you do your actives and feeders yeah if
- 37:38i'm so i'm kind of i'm not super like hip on the goose hunting stuff i've having
- 37:46i've always just focused on ducks i'm trying to get more into geese i do like
- 37:50goose hunting i like killing geese but i enjoy killing ducks way more like if
- 37:54i have an opportunity to go out of state to go duck hunting during goose season
- 37:57i'm gonna go do that i don't.
- 38:01But I try to keep centuries down in the spread I don't like a whole lot much more than five.
- 38:09Normally I run about 200 plus I think it's somewhere between 200 and 225 full
- 38:15bodies somewhere in there,
- 38:17and out of that I only want like five centuries there might be one or two more
- 38:21in the spread but I don't know I just feel like if you have too many of them
- 38:25it's going to make them look less comfortable in the field,
- 38:30but like between the actives and feeders I do think that's kind of like site specific whether it's,
- 38:36if you're trafficking them I would say you'd want a lot more actives I don't
- 38:41know any facts on that but I've always liked to have more actives and then like do less feeders or,
- 38:48mix the feeders in more with the actives rather than just a bunch of feeders,
- 38:55but that's just all guessing Yeah, I do know like early season,
- 39:00which you obviously don't do any of that around here. We're duck hunting.
- 39:05But early season, when you kind of have them broken up into family groups,
- 39:08I know the sentries, like if you put one in each group, it looks pretty real
- 39:12because they're always kind of looking to see what that other group's doing.
- 39:15But when they get in a big pack like that, there's not very many heads straight
- 39:19up unless they're worried about something.
- 39:22Yeah. I feel like your city geese, though, are a little bit more cautious of
- 39:26their families because your city geese are all just family geese anyways. Yep.
- 39:31So there's probably almost always one that's watching out what's going on. Yeah.
- 39:37Geese just aggravate me. I love hunting them, but they aggravate me.
- 39:44That's why you like hunting them, because they're usually assholes. Yeah, stupid.
- 39:51Is there situations where you guys used to not throw big spreads and throw little
- 39:56ones, or was it always just a general throw what you got?
- 40:00No, there was a lot of times that we didn't throw a lot.
- 40:04Like obviously if you know you're going to be having some weather like rain
- 40:08or snow throw everything other than that we wouldn't throw but half the trailer most of the time,
- 40:14how many do you guys used to have I think when him and I first started we had
- 40:18like five or six dozen Bigfoots and that was it right there towards the end
- 40:23we sold all of our shit now but I think we had like 12 dozen full bodies,
- 40:30so not a shit load but about the right amount yeah no I mean if I feel like
- 40:35you can do pretty much what you want to do around here with that many no I don't traffic in them you,
- 40:43pretty much every goose decoy in the state, you can get your hands on. Yep.
- 40:48So I do want to do one of these days. I want to get like two or three full trailers
- 40:52just piled into a field that's directly under a major flight line and send it.
- 40:58Yeah, we thought we had that last year on Goose Wars.
- 41:03That spread did not look as big as I thought it would look. No,
- 41:06we had a shitload of decoys out.
- 41:09Yeah, I mean, we had everything I have and I think most of the stuff that they owned.
- 41:14And it's still, I mean, it looks big, but it did not look big.
- 41:19Yeah, we were talking about it that night before and I'm like,
- 41:22dude, we're going to have like half that field full. And then we threw it all out and I was like.
- 41:28Yeah, but that kind of goes to show though. Like when you're scouting a field
- 41:31and like you may not think that there's a whole lot out there,
- 41:34but it still looks like way bigger than your spread.
- 41:37There's probably more out there than you think. Yeah.
- 41:40I always feel like it's pretty important if you're watching a field like in
- 41:43the evening to try to stay and wait until they get up so you kind of have a
- 41:47better idea of how many are actually in there because sometimes you'll think
- 41:51there's 200 in there and then they all get up and there's like a thousand and you're like holy shit.
- 41:56Yeah I like seeing them leave too because you can know kind of like what size groups they fly in,
- 42:02well to that point as well too like watching them at night just to try to mimic
- 42:07exactly how they're in that field with your decoys too I mean whether they're
- 42:11super balled up like in North Dakota like they were not they were not balled
- 42:17up at all like it was just long fingers,
- 42:20like long lines of geese with just random family pods all around and I mean
- 42:26that seemed to trying to mimic those out in North Dakota seemed to give us a fair amount of success,
- 42:32when we could see they definitely were like not or like it was like a big line,
- 42:39a pretty long, thick line of geese.
- 42:41And then there'd be like little fingers that just come off it.
- 42:43It was kind of weird how they were sitting, but it was every field was like that. Mm-hmm. Hmm.
- 42:48Here where they kind of like go off in groups of 20, 30, 40,
- 42:52whatever, and balls, you know?
- 42:56There it was a big long line dense with geese and then there'd be little strings of geese off. Hmm.
- 43:03Be friends like they are here i don't blame them a lot different types of geese
- 43:08out there you got the city geese got the park geese i love city geese oh we didn't last year.
- 43:18No it also doesn't help hunting the very
- 43:21last week in the season when geese have
- 43:25just been constantly called at every single day for
- 43:27months straight the biggest thing last year i feel like was the weather it was
- 43:32never consistent for more than two days so like it was impossible to pattern
- 43:38them no matter what we did and that goose war day was cold as shit and just straight ripping winds,
- 43:47i feel like that was half of the problem with killing more geese was the wind
- 43:50was so bad that you couldn't take much further of a poke that was off your freaking boot bag.
- 43:58There was a lot of geese we didn't shoot out though that were close enough that
- 44:00But we definitely should have shot out that day.
- 44:03I have the videos on my phone to prove it when I was trying to walk back out in the field. Yeah.
- 44:09I mean, I don't know that it would have put us in first place,
- 44:13but we definitely could have killed probably another 10 geese. Yeah.
- 44:18And then I think there was one time where we pulled up and my gun didn't shoot.
- 44:21It was so cold. Yeah, it was brutal.
- 44:25I hope it's not that cold again this year. Same. If it is, I hope we go somewhere
- 44:30that we can put an A-frame or some panel blinds up and actually hide it and just run it over.
- 44:36I am in for the A-frame when it's that cold. Otherwise, we can lose the A-frame and I'm fine. Yep.
- 44:43If it's that cold, I will 100% have the heater bodysuit and the blind all snugged up. Yep.
- 44:51If it's that cold again and we have to use layouts, I will go buy one. Yep.
- 44:57Even just putting a sleeping bag, like something to keep you off that cold ground in there though.
- 45:03I mean, cause really most of the time, that's the only thing I use the heater
- 45:06body suit for is just to not sit my ass on the freezing ground.
- 45:12But it does help when it's really
- 45:15cold out it's just with
- 45:19those like the actual legs and feet that that thing has like if i have to hop
- 45:24out quick like it's just not happening which i would still choose warmth over
- 45:30over that anyways yeah oh yeah oh yeah i do not like being cold oh we know,
- 45:39Since he got new waders, we haven't heard him bitch that his feet are cold. Not once.
- 45:43He hasn't really complained much this duck season in general about being cold. It's been pretty nice.
- 45:49It's because it just got cold this week. There's a little bit of truth to that as well.
- 45:55But even all last week, though, even in those cold days, I mean,
- 46:01other than grabbing birds or whatnot, like your hands getting cold for a minute, I was good to go.
- 46:09The propane bill has been cheaper this year. Yeah. By far. Yeah, 100%.
- 46:15So, goose sleeper shells, I mean, do you like using them in a field?
- 46:20Or is it mainly just for ice purposes, hunting an ice hole?
- 46:24I don't mind them in the field when it gets cold and snowy. I mean,
- 46:28you can pack a shitload of them out there.
- 46:30Because there's been days that you goose hunt a field and it's cold and snowy.
- 46:35And they will legit land and just lay straight down.
- 46:39I've seen that too tuck their head straight to sleep they go,
- 46:43which is crazy I don't know why they stay here when it's that cold if they just
- 46:47go to the field and then go to bed when they get there like what was the point
- 46:51of going to the field why didn't you just sleep on the ice maybe the ice was getting cold,
- 46:56the field can't be much warmer.
- 47:00But yeah on the ice I absolutely love sleeper shells,
- 47:04I could pretty much run all sleeper shells on ice hard to beat dude if you if
- 47:10you got like 10 dozen sleeper shells and then 6 goose floaters and like 6 full
- 47:16bodies out there it just looks ugly yeah you're gonna wreck them yeah,
- 47:23year when we had them trying to blow off the ice all day. You know,
- 47:26that was a real problem. That was a pain in the ass.
- 47:30Dude, it was so windy that day. And we've seen so many geese.
- 47:34And we could have shot so many, but there was too many all at once. Yeah.
- 47:38I can't believe they all flew at one time that day. That was a lot.
- 47:44I mean, they never do that. No. Not until you bring your homies down to shoot geese. Yeah. No.
- 47:51And they want to be jerks. it happens.
- 47:55I think that about wraps it up for the decoy brands and styles.
- 48:00Roll right into closing thoughts. Straight into it? Straight into it.
- 48:07Head first? Sideways? Feet first?
- 48:11Head first, obviously. That's the only way to do it. Yeah, no,
- 48:14especially on the concrete.
- 48:16Yeah, nothing important going on up here. Just let it rip.
- 48:20Cinder tater chip.
- 48:23What's in store for the rest of the season as we transition out of duck season and a goose well,
- 48:29tyler's gone so we're gonna
- 48:32kill so many birds when he's gone and he's gonna be so pissed you don't be able
- 48:38to make me mad want to bet yep i hope we shoot like a net collar or something
- 48:45like that i hope you do too or a band if we shoot a band he'd be pissed i wouldn't
- 48:50i've already shot my one band for the year?
- 48:53Trevor shot it. He just won the draw. No, being a duck. Okay.
- 48:59Being a duck is what I'm talking about.
- 49:02A band of duck would be a lot cooler. Screw them ducks.
- 49:07Yeah, but realistically, you are leaving at the perfect time because we would
- 49:12be hunting the river anyway.
- 49:14Yeah, but it's really, the river hunts can be a lot of fun. I mean,
- 49:18those sometimes can be hard to beat. Yeah.
- 49:22Hopefully, you guys get on them good this weekend down on the river.
- 49:25I just keep thinking about last year, that day we goose hunted and we had the
- 49:30goose shells blowing all over. We literally could have killed so many ducks.
- 49:34Yeah, they were everywhere. I was pissed.
- 49:38Hopefully it's like that again, because we will kill so many ducks.
- 49:42Fingers crossed for you guys. I'll be rooting for you as I'm making double time.
- 49:47Yeah. If that doesn't happen, you'll see a huge fire. I quit sale.
- 49:54I call bullshit. Selling everything. Trucking all. Oh, trucks for sale too? How much?
- 50:01$500,000. Yeah, you need a truck, don't you? Or at least a back bumper?
- 50:07No, I need a new bumper, tailgate, and bedside. Yeah, no, those are the things. It did get a tailgate?
- 50:14Know. I don't think the tailgate's like wrecked, but yeah. It's fixed.
- 50:18It's going to need to be fixed. Yeah, what happened there?
- 50:22Oh, some random lady just ran into it. Said she slid into it,
- 50:27but definitely did not slide into it.
- 50:30Yeah, there were no slide marks in the snow. She drove directly into your pickup. Yeah.
- 50:35Yeah, I was like, oh, that's awesome.
- 50:38Cool. Winner, winner, chicken dinner.
- 50:42I will never forget the look on your face when I ran in the garage And I'm like,
- 50:45hey, you might want to come out here. Someone just hit your truck.
- 50:47And you turned around and I just shut the door.
- 50:52Gotta go. Yeah, I was like, all right, this dude just fucking with me.
- 50:56And I looked at Austin. I'm like, he's not coming back in here.
- 50:58I guess I better go fucking back out there and look.
- 51:02This guy might be for real. Her headlight was laying on the ground all broken up.
- 51:10Oh, man. Good times. Good times. Yeah, something like that.
- 51:15We're looking forward. Go ahead. Nope.
- 51:19No, I was just going to say, I know we've already like hinted at it,
- 51:21mentioned it a couple of times about the potential of doing Goose War. I hate you.
- 51:27Why are you like this?
- 51:32Go ahead for real this time. Do you want to talk about anything about Goose Wars? Anything else?
- 51:38Like. What do you mean? Like.
- 51:41To it excited to like pick your team,
- 51:45yeah I'm hoping they do it the same way as last year and I'm hoping they do
- 51:49it this year which they should it sounds like they do a,
- 51:53thing pretty much every year they didn't do it for a couple years there after
- 51:56during COVID and after COVID but they do this thing called Goose Wars and,
- 52:01it can be pretty fun it was a pretty tight group that did it for a while a bunch of good guys,
- 52:07they would have captains and a co-captain I believe is how they used to do it
- 52:12and everybody that wanted to be involved in it would just put their name in
- 52:16a hat and people would pick their teams that way there was it cut down on the
- 52:22cheating basically because it
- 52:23would be a bunch of random people hunting together and they're friends of,
- 52:27other co-captains or captains on other teams so you know somebody was cheating
- 52:30they might rat on them or less likely but last year they did it where you could
- 52:36bring your own team and that was That was a lot of fun.
- 52:39I mean, in all honesty, nobody cheated. I don't think. It was a pretty rough day for everybody.
- 52:45There was one group that got on them earlier. We didn't get on them until the
- 52:48end of the day, what, the last hour, really?
- 52:52But it's a lot of fun. Do look forward to doing it whenever we find out when it's going to happen.
- 52:58Hopefully we can go and take the trophy. That would be sweet.
- 53:02If the weather lightens up a little bit, we've got a really good shot of taking that, I feel like.
- 53:08Yeah, I mean, we got some spots that if the weather cooperates,
- 53:12we could definitely run a fat chance at winning it.
- 53:17The only thing that could kill us is the bans, because there are points for bans.
- 53:22And we have terrible luck with bans. That we do.
- 53:27Want to mention uh before we before we
- 53:29cut this out we are working with
- 53:32the isc moving forward with trying
- 53:37to start a waterfowl chapter on it i mean there's not
- 53:40there's the i mean there's deltas and ducks limited chapters
- 53:44everywhere but the problem with those is
- 53:47the money doesn't stay localized i mean there is
- 53:50some that stays localized but the mass of the money
- 53:53goes to bigger projects more
- 53:56in the prairie potholes and it's they're
- 53:59they try to focus more on duck production so we're
- 54:04working with the isc to help give people that hunt iowa for waterfowl a say
- 54:11i kind of help give them more of a say of season dates and zone changes if we
- 54:17want to make zone changes or to try to be a middleman between the DNR and the Corps of Engineers,
- 54:25and maybe even Delta and DU for trying to get funds together to do projects for wetlands.
- 54:31If you aren't a member of the ISC, it wouldn't be a good time here to start
- 54:37looking into becoming one if you want to help everybody and throw your opinion
- 54:41out there to season dates,
- 54:44because that's going to be a big thing coming up this year. Yeah.
- 54:48More info on that next week. I think we may have somebody coming in from the
- 54:52ISC next week for, I don't know, 10 or 15 minutes to talk to us about himself
- 54:56and kind of what their mission is with us.
- 54:59There's four or five of us that are going to be helping out with that,
- 55:03so hopefully some big things come out of that.
- 55:06Hopefully we can do some things with the Facebook comments about what they want done.
- 55:12Hopefully they actually follow up and want to do something about it.
- 55:17Yeah you talking about them keyboard warriors that like to talk but
- 55:20never want to make action yeah we'll just make it easier
- 55:23for it because we can find them yeah yeah no
- 55:26i mean it's a big it could
- 55:28be a big thing for iowa i mean that it goes for
- 55:31the whole state there's just there's no groups out
- 55:34there that really just focus on the residents of iowa yeah i feel like it's
- 55:39definitely going to be a huge thing at some point obviously it's going to start
- 55:44off a little bit slower just kind of getting our feet on the ground but that
- 55:48could turn into a really really big deal for the the hunters in the state of
- 55:51Iowa duck hunters specifically,
- 55:54yeah I mean I feel like there's a lot more duck hunters in Iowa now than there
- 55:57definitely used to be yeah so and.
- 56:02Something to complain about, but you'll never be able to satisfy everybody,
- 56:04but it'll be a way for someone to feel like at least someone listened to their
- 56:08word and there was an attempt at action towards it, maybe. Yeah.
- 56:13Unless it's just a crazy idea, but I mean, you can't just go off the wall with
- 56:19everything, but stuff with legitimacy will definitely be taken into consideration.
- 56:24Let's shoot them in March.
- 56:29They're really pretty then. I know. i know
- 56:32i'm hammer out in march it's awesome i'm really excited to
- 56:35work with isc a really good really good
- 56:38group of people i follow along with
- 56:41them especially with the local guys that uh are involved
- 56:45and i've known quite a few of them for many years
- 56:48really enjoy to see the work that they're doing
- 56:51right now they put on a killer banquet every
- 56:54year or two so just i mean
- 56:57if yeah if we can group up
- 57:00with those guys and get some people behind it
- 57:03really excited to see the things and the potential that
- 57:06that we have with it yeah for
- 57:09sure i mean they seem whenever me and had the meeting
- 57:12with them that they seem super excited about starting this
- 57:16waterfowl side of it and getting something
- 57:19going for what we're talking about so that's
- 57:22that makes me hopeful gives me a little bit of excitement too just that they're
- 57:26excited for it yeah because they're not duck hunters at all no no i mean he
- 57:33had i don't know if he's ever really waterfowl hunted in general he didn't sound
- 57:36like he has much yeah so it's cool to see him actually like listen to,
- 57:42some of the stuff that we talked about and he's like yeah i can see why that's a problem yeah.
- 57:48No and they've already got you know people out there in the right positions
- 57:53to help us present the opportunities that we're looking at presenting yeah.
- 58:02Wrap it up. Like I said, we look forward to working with them and hearing from them.
- 58:08Hopefully next week we have them on here.
