- 2:40Speaker 2: You get to look at me, and I get to
- 2:42Speaker 2: look at you.
- 2:43Speaker 4: You know, now that I.
- 2:44Speaker 5: So, last Tuesday, I think, was the only time I
- 2:47Speaker 5: actually saw you in here. I just realized that.
- 2:53Speaker 2: Yeah.
- 2:54Speaker 4: Because we didn't have a show last Monday.
- 2:57Speaker 2: Oh, yeah, that was.
- 2:57Speaker 4: I only saw you for two hours, as far as
- 3:00Speaker 4: in here, last week.
- 3:01Speaker 2: Yeah. Actually, I think I was on the road last week. So,
- 3:04Speaker 2: it may have been longer than that. Oh, you went out.
- 3:08Speaker 4: That's right. That's right. You were out at Florence.
- 3:10Speaker 1: Yeah. Yeah. Okay.
- 3:12Speaker 2: Wow.
- 3:12Speaker 4: I didn't see you at all last week.
- 3:13Speaker 1: No.
- 3:13Speaker 2: I made a passing, but that was about it. How
- 3:16Speaker 2: was your weekend? Did you enjoy college football? Did you
- 3:19Speaker 2: watch college? Did you think of me? Did you watch
- 3:22Speaker 2: Texas' comeback?
- 3:25Speaker 4: I watched the final three minutes.
- 3:27Speaker 2: What did you think?
- 3:30Speaker 4: That was absurd.
- 3:31Speaker 1: It was.
- 3:31Speaker 4: It was ridiculous. Because I kept getting the updates.
- 3:36Speaker 1: And.
- 3:38Speaker 4: I have to say at 20-3, I thought it was done.
- 3:41Speaker 2: I did too. Wow.
- 3:42Speaker 5: Arch Manning continuing his not-so-impressive streak.
- 3:48Speaker 2: Yeah, we went, took the kiddos out, did some doing around,
- 3:52Speaker 2: and after the Mississippi State game and all that stuff,
- 3:54Speaker 2: and then went and got something to eat and had
- 3:56Speaker 2: it on for the first half. And Ohio State was
- 3:59Speaker 2: just wearing them out. I said, well, let's go to
- 4:01Speaker 2: the house. And then I was driving and didn't even
- 4:04Speaker 2: check on anything. I thought, you know, let's cut it on.
- 4:06Speaker 2: We'll just see what happens. And it was like seven
- 4:09Speaker 2: minutes left or five minutes left. And then the comeback
- 4:11Speaker 2: was on. I was just like, this is unbelievable. What
- 4:14Speaker 2: did you think? And we're going to get into Mississippi
- 4:15Speaker 2: State because I want to know if Joe Impossumneck has
- 4:18Speaker 2: officially bought a Camario Taylor jersey. What did you think
- 4:22Speaker 2: of Holly Rowe? Did you see that? She was mad
- 4:27Speaker 2: as hell. Sarkeesian was like, I don't even want to
- 4:29Speaker 2: do this. I'm not doing this. Hook him. And turned
- 4:32Speaker 2: around and just left her standing at the altar. What
- 4:34Speaker 2: did you think about that?
- 4:35Speaker 1: Yeah, so.
- 4:36Speaker 5: We don't have the real story yet because one thing
- 4:41Speaker 5: I saw, one article I saw, it was talking about,
- 4:44Speaker 5: or a couple of different articles, talking about Sarkeesian is
- 4:47Speaker 5: really catching heat for this because people are talking about
- 4:51Speaker 5: what a jerk store, all that stuff. But then I
- 4:55Speaker 5: see another article talking about how both pregame and at
- 5:01Speaker 5: that point ESPN was having trouble technical troubles and that's
- 5:05Speaker 5: what caused confusion so sarkeesian wasn't just acting like a
- 5:09Speaker 5: jerk so what's the real story who am i supposed
- 5:13Speaker 5: to blame there's always got to be someone to blame
- 5:16Speaker 5: what's the lesson who's to blame dspn or steve sarkeesian.
- 5:20Speaker 2: Dumb questions which would fall on espn right uh-huh i
- 5:24Speaker 2: mean i could hear her now and her voice coach
- 5:27Speaker 2: what a weird what do you think and he doesn't
- 5:30Speaker 2: want to deal with that like we won we're glad
- 5:32Speaker 2: we won Now let's go celebrate. I mean, there's nothing
- 5:36Speaker 2: to talk about. Let's go. Let's get out of here.
- 5:38Speaker 2: Mississippi State, did you watch any of that game?
- 5:40Speaker 1: I did.
- 5:40Speaker 2: I'm going to say something. They look good. They look
- 5:45Speaker 2: really good. Like, State looks really freaking good. And I know, look,
- 5:51Speaker 2: talk about Minnesota. Love P.J. Fleck in his little tie
- 5:54Speaker 2: and sweater vest and always looks very punctual. And who
- 5:58Speaker 2: knows how good Minnesota is. To go up there and
- 6:00Speaker 2: do that, that's a good win.
- 6:01Speaker 4: Yeah, I thought so.
- 6:03Speaker 5: And that was so last week when you were I
- 6:05Speaker 5: was talking because you asked me about that game Friday.
- 6:08Speaker 5: I said Mississippi State because I didn't number one. I
- 6:11Speaker 5: didn't think Minnesota was really all that impressive.
- 6:14Speaker 4: But yeah.
- 6:15Speaker 5: So the second part of that was I began buying
- 6:18Speaker 5: into the Camario Taylor hype. Give me one more game.
- 6:23Speaker 5: Give me SEC play to finally win. But I'm almost
- 6:28Speaker 5: bought in, and I believe Possum Nick Joe is too,
- 6:30Speaker 5: because he actually texted during Matt's little show, and he
- 6:36Speaker 5: said I was wrong.
- 6:37Speaker 4: I believe that's the exact words he spoke. He said
- 6:40Speaker 4: I was wrong.
- 6:42Speaker 2: Speak of the devil. Possum Nick Joe says on the
- 6:44Speaker 2: Cowboy Maloney's text line, Jake, this is the same text
- 6:46Speaker 2: I sent to Matt. He says, well, so far I'm wrong.
- 6:49Speaker 2: Super Camario stepped up against a little better competition. Hopefully
- 6:53Speaker 2: it can continue. They made Minnesota look like a directional school.
- 6:57Speaker 2: They really did. I mean, the game was never closed.
- 6:59Speaker 2: The defense looks fast, physical, competent. Taylor has all the
- 7:06Speaker 2: makings of being a really good quarterback. And then, I mean,
- 7:09Speaker 2: I go back to Nick Saban. Nick Saban said last week,
- 7:11Speaker 2: he's the truth and the light. Somewhere there's some marketing
- 7:15Speaker 2: going on there for Kamario Taylor. Oregon got walked off
- 7:20Speaker 2: against Oklahoma State. I told you to watch Oklahoma State.
- 7:23Speaker 2: And here they are. They got upset week one. They
- 7:26Speaker 2: upset Oregon week two. And then John Mateer, what is
- 7:30Speaker 2: he doing? Did you see any of that?
- 7:31Speaker 4: Yeah, this kid doesn't work.
- 7:35Speaker 2: Did you know that there is a sale? Somebody put,
- 7:38Speaker 2: an Oklahoma fan put on Facebook Marketplace, if you ever
- 7:41Speaker 2: get on there. They put a picture of John Mateer,
- 7:45Speaker 2: and they're selling a fictitious John Mateer for $ 1, 234. Selling
- 7:48Speaker 2: my used John Mateer. Thought this was going to be
- 7:54Speaker 2: a high-performance model, but I'm starting to rethink this. I
- 7:58Speaker 2: bought somebody else's project card. It goes to a checklist.
- 8:00Speaker 2: Looks good sitting in the driveway. Plenty of horsepower. Runs
- 8:04Speaker 2: pretty good when nobody is chasing it. Dual threat package.
- 8:08Speaker 2: Previous owner swore it was elite to my Washington state.
- 8:13Speaker 2: Big aftermarket arm installed. Crimson paint still looks decent, but
- 8:17Speaker 2: check engine light comes on. I mean, it's pretty funny.
- 8:20Speaker 2: He looked awful. Against Michigan. And Bryce Underwood, can we
- 8:26Speaker 2: say he responded? He did enough, right?
- 8:29Speaker 4: He did enough.
- 8:30Speaker 2: He did enough.
- 8:32Speaker 5: So let's look at this Mateer deal then, because I
- 8:35Speaker 5: think of, I put him in the same category almost
- 8:38Speaker 5: as Jackson Arnold at this point. What do they have
- 8:44Speaker 5: in common? The Manning passing academy hype.
- 8:46Speaker 1: Oh, no. Yep.
- 8:49Speaker 2: Now, Camario got some of that hype, but Mateer was
- 8:51Speaker 2: the headline. And you've got to always go to the
- 8:53Speaker 2: headline guy. Jackson Arnold was the headline guy that year. Mateer,
- 8:58Speaker 2: headline guy. So there may be something to this Manning
- 9:02Speaker 2: passing academy curse. Real quickly, SP plus Bill Conley. He
- 9:06Speaker 2: has LSU beating Ole Miss this weekend 29-22. Texas Tech
- 9:10Speaker 2: over Houston 32-22. Bama over Florida State big, 32-16, and
- 9:17Speaker 2: he's got so many more in here. We've got lines
- 9:19Speaker 2: for the games this weekend. Texas, give us your thoughts
- 9:21Speaker 2: on everything that happened this weekend. Big weekend in the NFL.
- 9:25Speaker 2: Did you see that Felipe Franks, former Florida quarterback, is
- 9:29Speaker 2: now a special teams savant in the NFL? I think
- 9:33Speaker 2: for Chicago or one of these teams. There were some
- 9:34Speaker 2: highlights out there, him making tackles on special teams. He's
- 9:37Speaker 2: morphed himself into a special teams player, which is actually
- 9:39Speaker 2: good he's getting paid. So that's out there. Hey, we're
- 9:41Speaker 2: brought to you by Dr.

- 11:34Speaker 2: If you're coming to town, need a place to stay.
- 11:36Speaker 2: Mississippi State and Minnesota. Of course, we're going to get
- 11:39Speaker 2: all into LSU and Ole Miss. Lane Kiffin's already got
- 11:42Speaker 2: comments out there. And, uh, I find humor in his comments.
- 11:46Speaker 2: Camario Taylor, 16 of 22 for 227 yards and three
- 11:50Speaker 2: touchdowns over the weekend. His opponent, the quarterback, Drake Lindsey,
- 11:56Speaker 2: a decent day, 31 of 48 for 279. He did
- 12:00Speaker 2: not throw a touchdown and did not throw an interception.
- 12:03Speaker 2: State led this thing all the way, 14 to 3
- 12:06Speaker 2: after the first quarter. They were up 28 to 6
- 12:08Speaker 2: at the half. Minnesota won the third quarter, 7 to 3,
- 12:11Speaker 2: and State had a touchdown and did not give up
- 12:13Speaker 2: any points in the fourth quarter. Fluff Bothwell, 18 carries
- 12:18Speaker 2: for 113. Kamari Taylor, 13 carries for 86. And Bothwell
- 12:23Speaker 2: had two touchdowns. Also, Anthony Evans III, seven catches for 121.
- 12:29Speaker 2: And then several other Bulldogs caught passes from McGee, Raggins,
- 12:33Speaker 2: and others. I mean, just a really good performance for
- 12:36Speaker 2: Mississippi State over the weekend. Now they've got to shift gears.
- 12:38Speaker 2: And it's on the table now for Jeff Levy. What's
- 12:43Speaker 2: on the table? Hang it around. Ball eligibility. It's all
- 12:47Speaker 2: on the table now because this was the pivotal game
- 12:50Speaker 2: you got to go get. Even if you lose to
- 12:53Speaker 2: South Carolina, and I actually think they got a really
- 12:55Speaker 2: good shot to win that game, you come home and
- 12:58Speaker 2: you play Missouri. If you could get to 3-0, man,
- 13:02Speaker 2: that is a really, really good shot at that point.
- 13:05Speaker 2: South Carolina right now averaging 51 a game, giving up 4.5,
- 13:08Speaker 2: but they have played Kent State and Towson, and they
- 13:13Speaker 2: have not played anybody up to this point. And when
- 13:17Speaker 2: you look at some of their numbers, Lenore Sellers, even
- 13:21Speaker 2: in these ballgames, okay, not great. Three touchdowns and a pick.
- 13:26Speaker 2: 366 yards passing. 63% completion percentage. Also in the rushing category,
- 13:34Speaker 2: Matt Fuller has led the charge. 21 carries for 199.
- 13:37Speaker 2: Sellers only nine carries, but he's rushed for 120 yards
- 13:40Speaker 2: and a touchdown. And Jabri Coleman, another running back. He's
- 13:45Speaker 2: a sophomore. 10 carries for 109 and three touchdowns for
- 13:49Speaker 2: South Carolina. So it'll be fun. We'll see what happens
- 13:53Speaker 2: as we start to break that down. We'll get with
- 13:54Speaker 2: David Murray on that matchup and talk Mississippi State next segment.
- 13:58Speaker 2: SEC Mike Michael Bratton has his SEC power ratings out
- 14:01Speaker 2: for week three. Georgia number one. He still has Georgia
- 14:03Speaker 2: over Texas. I would put Texas over Georgia by virtue
- 14:07Speaker 2: of the victory of Ohio State. LSU number three, Bama four,
- 14:12Speaker 2: State at number five, Texas A & M, Tennessee, and
- 14:15Speaker 2: Ole Miss. That's your top eight there for Michael Bratton. Also,
- 14:18Speaker 2: the AP top 25 is out. This is the first
- 14:22Speaker 2: time since 1962 that Ole Miss and LSU are both
- 14:25Speaker 2: ranked in the AP top 10 when they play each other.
- 14:29Speaker 2: Until now, it's only happened five times in the 90-year
- 14:32Speaker 2: history of the poll. So in the AP poll, Texas
- 14:35Speaker 2: is number one, Georgia two, Notre Dame three, Indiana 4,
- 14:39Speaker 2: and Miami 5, followed by Ohio State, LSU, Ole Miss
- 14:42Speaker 2: at 7-8, Texas A & M, and Alabama. And also
- 14:48Speaker 2: just some notables in this poll, BYU at 11 after
- 14:50Speaker 2: a victory over Arizona, SC at number 12, Texas Tech 13,
- 14:54Speaker 2: Penn State 14, Tennessee 15, Missouri at 20, Michigan moves
- 14:58Speaker 2: up to 19, Oregon falls way back to 21, Oklahoma
- 15:03Speaker 2: falls to 24, and Virginia at 25. We'll get into
- 15:07Speaker 2: Bill Conley's top 772. If Georgia was to play Thomas, Georgia,
- 15:13Speaker 2: a Division III school, they would be a 141.5 favorite.
- 15:17Speaker 2: And South Carolina State would actually be a one-point favorite
- 15:20Speaker 2: over Tulane. And Ferris State would be a six-point favorite
- 15:23Speaker 2: over Charlotte. We'll get more into Conley's weekly poll. Brad Crawford,
- 15:29Speaker 2: who covers the SEC in college football and South Carolina,
- 15:33Speaker 2: And I say South Carolina because he does a lot
- 15:35Speaker 2: for them. For CBS Sports and 247, he said, South
- 15:37Speaker 2: Carolina is 2-9 in its last 11 games against power
- 15:41Speaker 2: four opponents under Shane Beamer. I'm going to say that again.
- 15:44Speaker 2: They're 2-9 in their last 11 games against power four opponents.
- 15:51Speaker 2: Saturday's game against Mississippi State is incredibly important for the
- 15:53Speaker 2: Gamecocks and his future at that program. So this is
- 15:58Speaker 2: a circle moment for Shane Beamer. The same Shane Beamer
- 16:04Speaker 2: that last November said he can't wait to get to
- 16:07Speaker 2: late November and see where South Carolina ranks in the
- 16:09Speaker 2: college football playoff poll. And what else did he say?
- 16:12Speaker 2: He said something this summer. I'll have to go back
- 16:15Speaker 2: and check it. Moving on. LSU is a pretty large
- 16:20Speaker 2: favorite by Polymarket over the weekend or coming up this
- 16:23Speaker 2: weekend against Ole Miss. Money's coming in early. 59% on LSU,
- 16:26Speaker 2: 42% on Ole Miss on Polymarket. And Lane Kiffin says
- 16:34Speaker 2: he told his players the pressure is all on Ole
- 16:36Speaker 2: Miss this week. He says, quote, the pressure's on them. Now,
- 16:39Speaker 2: I like how he frames this up. He says, we
- 16:42Speaker 2: won seven games last year. He's talking about LSU. They
- 16:47Speaker 2: won 13. They returned two Heisman candidates. You guys get
- 16:52Speaker 2: to go play. The pressure is not on you. It's
- 16:55Speaker 2: square on them. What do you think? But he's not wrong,
- 16:59Speaker 2: is he? I mean, really, the pressure– Who's the pressure
- 17:02Speaker 2: on more? Lane Kiffin in LSU or Zidane Ole Miss?
- 17:08Speaker 2: Where's the pressure at?
- 17:13Speaker 5: I don't, as much as we've loved this storyline, and
- 17:17Speaker 5: by we, I absolutely don't include myself because I got
- 17:21Speaker 5: so tired of hearing about this trash. As much as
- 17:24Speaker 5: we've been loving this storyline, Lane Kiffin nonstop storyline, I
- 17:29Speaker 5: wouldn't say that either it I wouldn't say there's pressure
- 17:34Speaker 5: on either team. There's just an overwhelming desire by a
- 17:40Speaker 5: lot of coaches, a lot of fans, and a lot
- 17:43Speaker 5: of teams to see LSU, I mean, to see Lane
- 17:48Speaker 5: Kiffin himself, not LSU, it's obviously his team, but to
- 17:53Speaker 5: see Lane Kiffin get his head smashed in. So I
- 17:57Speaker 5: don't think there's really pressure on the players. There's just
- 18:01Speaker 5: the desire for him to lose. I feel like it's
- 18:03Speaker 5: so overwhelming by most people in the college football world.
- 18:08Speaker 2: Yeah. It's going to be a weird, crazy scene up there.
- 18:13Speaker 2: Did you see the videos going around of those frat
- 18:15Speaker 2: boys at Ole Miss playing Oklahoma drill out at a tailgate?
- 18:22Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:22Speaker 2: You know, to speak the Oklahoma drill, you circle up,
- 18:24Speaker 2: you got two guys lay down. One guy has the football,
- 18:26Speaker 2: you jump up, run. And the other one tackles the
- 18:27Speaker 2: other guy.
- 18:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 18:28Speaker 2: It was all over the socials this weekend. And I
- 18:31Speaker 2: would assume that it was this past weekend. It looked
- 18:33Speaker 2: like it, it could have been another weekend, but yeah,
- 18:36Speaker 2: it was definitely Ole Miss. It was definitely students. And
- 18:37Speaker 2: they were like in ties and khakis and they were
- 18:40Speaker 2: late and just crashing into each other playing Oklahoma drill.
- 18:45Speaker 2: So it's going to be a wild scene. I'm looking
- 18:47Speaker 2: at the third party ticket pool out here. for this game.
- 18:52Speaker 2: If you want to get in and I've had a
- 18:54Speaker 2: few people ask, Hey, if you, if you come across
- 18:57Speaker 2: some tickets, let me, you're not coming across tickets for
- 18:59Speaker 2: this game. Not without paying a premium $ 863. If me
- 19:05Speaker 2: and you wanted to go this weekend, be even jumping
- 19:07Speaker 2: the fist to grab the pig and let's, let's roll.
- 19:09Speaker 2: We would take the pig with us. $ 863. This sits
- 19:13Speaker 2: on the 50, but this is in like sec, like
- 19:15Speaker 2: the second level. $ 642 in Section R, which is around
- 19:20Speaker 2: the 10-yard line. You can get some suite tickets for $ 2, 412
- 19:27Speaker 2: and up to $ 3, 008. And I would assume these ticket
- 19:32Speaker 2: prices are probably going to climb a little bit this week,
- 19:35Speaker 2: but there's not a lot of inventory left, and what's
- 19:37Speaker 2: left on the third-party market is highly expensive. And I
- 19:42Speaker 2: did see somebody had shown me something And I think
- 19:45Speaker 2: it was in Oxford where somebody was renting out their
- 19:48Speaker 2: apartment for the weekend for one night. $ 1, 200. $ 1, 200. So
- 19:54Speaker 2: if you're getting into this one, if you got tickets
- 19:56Speaker 2: and you're going, that's fantastic, bless you. But if you're
- 19:59Speaker 2: just looking, hey, I'm going to grab a ticket for this,
- 20:02Speaker 2: you're going to have to pay a little bit. Would
- 20:04Speaker 2: you pay this for this?
- 20:05Speaker 1: No.
- 20:06Speaker 4: No, there's no way.
- 20:08Speaker 2: I don't know that I'm paying this for any game.
- 20:09Speaker 2: That's where I'm at in my life at this point.
- 20:11Speaker 2: But it should be a fun one coming up on Saturday.
- 20:14Speaker 2: Do you have an early winner for this?
- 20:15Speaker 4: I'm sticking with LSU.
- 20:18Speaker 2: That was quick.
- 20:19Speaker 5: I've thought the entire offseason. Once again, the tired talk
- 20:26Speaker 5: all offseason about this particular matchup.
- 20:29Speaker 4: I've just thought the entire time at LSU.
- 20:33Speaker 2: Some lines for the weekend. Troy is at Missouri. Missouri,
- 20:38Speaker 2: of course, and we've got TV times for next week.
- 20:40Speaker 2: Mississippi State and Missouri, I believe, is a night game
- 20:42Speaker 2: next week, 730. Missouri is a 27.5-point favorite over Troy.
- 20:46Speaker 2: That totals at 50.5. Tennessee is a 35.5-point favorite over
- 20:52Speaker 2: Kennesaw State. LSU is a 3.5-point favorite. Totals at 58.5
- 20:56Speaker 2: at Ole Miss. Florida is a 2.5-point favorite on the
- 20:59Speaker 2: road at Auburn. Mississippi State is a 3.5-point dog on
- 21:03Speaker 2: the road at South Carolina. Total of 58.5. Georgia is
- 21:07Speaker 2: a 24.5-point favorite over Arkansas. Arkansas looked like, blech. Did
- 21:11Speaker 2: you watch? I cut it over to Arkansas-Utah and watched
- 21:14Speaker 2: the first half after the Texas game the other night.
- 21:16Speaker 2: Arkansas just looks, they look as bad as we thought.
- 21:18Speaker 2: They're not good. Texas A & M is a 16.5-point
- 21:22Speaker 2: favorite over Kentucky. Alabama, 20.5-point favorite over Florida State. And
- 21:26Speaker 2: then you got Vanderbilt's a 4.5-point favorite over NC State.
- 21:30Speaker 2: And then you got Oklahoma and Texas, both are playing good.
- 21:33Speaker 2: I mean, Oklahoma's big favorite over New Mexico, and Texas
- 21:37Speaker 2: plays UTSA, and they'll kill those teams. We're brought to
- 21:40Speaker 2: you by our friends at Ameristar Casino. Get out and play.
- 21:43Speaker 2: Make sure to get your games in on... Are your
- 21:45Speaker 2: lines in on these games this coming up weekend? We'll
- 21:47Speaker 2: talk to David Murray. We'll talk Mississippi State going to
- 21:49Speaker 2: South Carolina and recap the weekend back in a moment.
- 21:51Speaker 6: Do you stay up at night thinking about the lack
- 21:53Speaker 6: of push from your team's offensive line? Do you spill
- 21:56Speaker 6: your Dr. Pepper arguing with your TV because pundits are
- 21:59Speaker 6: torching your defense?
- 22:01Speaker 2: You're not crazy.
- 22:02Speaker 6: You're a fan, and no college football fan can fan
- 22:04Speaker 6: to their fullest without the bold, one-of-a-kind taste of Dr.
- 22:07Speaker 1: Pepper.
- 22:08Speaker 6: It won't fix any of the problems we previously stated.
- 22:11Speaker 6: But it's delicious, and drinking it at a tailgate will
- 22:14Speaker 6: make you look like a ball knower, which is a
- 22:16Speaker 6: great consolation prize for the lack of push your offensive
- 22:19Speaker 6: line gets. College football, it's a pepper thing. And action!
- 22:23Speaker 1: We got that, and a whole lot more around here.
- 22:25Speaker 1: It's the Afternoon Drive with Jake Wimberly. What's the score?
- 22:28Speaker 1: He's got that, along with the hottest sports stories of
- 22:30Speaker 1: the day on ESPN 105.9 The Zone and online at thezone1059. com.
- 22:49Speaker 2: Taking you through your Monday brought to you by our
- 22:50Speaker 2: friends at Corvin Greer Construction. Let them help you with

- 23:02Speaker 2: your construction site is concerned. Or if you're looking to
- 23:05Speaker 2: do a remodel, they can help you do that as well.
- 23:07Speaker 2: Hardy Siding, Seamless Gutters, Professional Painting and More.
- 23:10Speaker 5: 662-792-4201.
- 23:10Speaker 2: That's 662-792-4201. Corvin Greer Construction.
- 23:17Speaker 1: Today.
- 23:17Speaker 2: David Murray, you can get him at jeans page, two, four,
- 23:19Speaker 2: seven sports.com. And of course I'll get them on X David.
- 23:22Speaker 2: Welcome in, sir. How are you?
- 23:25Speaker 3: I'm about to four paragraphs into my feature on Anthony Evans.
- 23:28Speaker 3: After this morning's interview during, um, coach Jeff Lovey's weekly
- 23:33Speaker 3: press conference. And he's talking about his end zone celebrations
- 23:37Speaker 3: and now he's starting to plan them. Um, I hope
- 23:40Speaker 3: that doesn't jinx anything by him going public with the
- 23:42Speaker 3: word there, but, uh, Hey, First, you've got to stop
- 23:45Speaker 3: the guy because he's already one quarter of the way
- 23:47Speaker 3: to his 1,000-yard season. At this pace, we'll smash his
- 23:51Speaker 3: teammate Brennan Thompson's receiving record for a single season at State.
- 23:55Speaker 3: So I'm having fun writing this one up. Also, we
- 24:00Speaker 3: got the comments from Jeff Levy this morning. We spoke
- 24:02Speaker 3: to Jardine Gilbert, spoke to Will Whitson, and Cannon Boone,
- 24:07Speaker 3: of course, who's the SEC's Lion of the Week, and
- 24:10Speaker 3: well-deserved because if you watched first and second quarter's, and
- 24:13Speaker 3: saw how Mississippi State was ripping it open in the
- 24:16Speaker 3: middle for Fluff Bothwell to crash straight through, sometimes even untouched,
- 24:20Speaker 3: which I'm not sure he enjoys being untouched, but he
- 24:23Speaker 3: took it. You have to say, the interior line as
- 24:27Speaker 3: a whole deserved it, but Cannon Boone, only one could
- 24:29Speaker 3: be recognized, and well done for the senior center there.
- 24:33Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, look, Mississippi State looked polished. They looked
- 24:36Speaker 2: good defensively. They look athletic. Kamario Taylor is continuing to
- 24:41Speaker 2: get a lot of run on the national circuit. You know,
- 24:44Speaker 2: Nick Saban caught him last week, the truth and the light.
- 24:47Speaker 2: I mean, so far, David, I mean, this offense you mentioned,
- 24:49Speaker 2: Anthony Evans, excuse me, the third, very, very entertaining, you know,
- 24:53Speaker 2: end zone celebrations. I will give him that. But Mississippi
- 24:56Speaker 2: State looked the part. I mean, looked really, really good,
- 24:59Speaker 2: you know, at Minnesota, a place they've never been, and
- 25:02Speaker 2: against a quality opponent.
- 25:04Speaker 3: Yeah, and as I commented this morning on a show
- 25:06Speaker 3: in Atlanta, Jeff Levy has made a further stride here
- 25:10Speaker 3: as a play caller, but also as a head coach.
- 25:12Speaker 3: And I want to hit that up each point as
- 25:15Speaker 3: briefly as possible. That first half was as good a
- 25:18Speaker 3: play calling combination as I've seen him have. And he's
- 25:21Speaker 3: had a couple of good games. But there, he just
- 25:24Speaker 3: totally had Minnesota wrong-footed, run, pass, whatever. But that's also
- 25:30Speaker 3: a little simpler to call plays when you have Camario
- 25:33Speaker 3: Taylor just coming into his own. a respectable offensive line
- 25:37Speaker 3: now and the skill position players has to work with.
- 25:39Speaker 3: So now you're seeing what Jeff Levy's offense is intended
- 25:44Speaker 3: to be. His previous quarterbacks just didn't have what it
- 25:47Speaker 3: took to run this offense. Camario Taylor definitely does. And
- 25:51Speaker 3: one other thing about, you know, I've been somewhat critical
- 25:55Speaker 3: about making the transition from coordinator coach. I saw a
- 25:58Speaker 3: moment there in the first half when there was a
- 26:00Speaker 3: mistake made. Now, it didn't hurt anything. It did no
- 26:03Speaker 3: damage whatsoever. But State is running away with the game,
- 26:06Speaker 3: and the head coach openly displays his displeasure with that
- 26:10Speaker 3: and lets the team know that's not acceptable. That's a
- 26:14Speaker 3: head coaching move. That's what you do to make sure
- 26:17Speaker 3: teams stay sharp and on their game there instead of, okay,
- 26:20Speaker 3: we'll just let this one slide because it didn't hurt anything.
- 26:22Speaker 3: We're running away with this game. So I just think
- 26:24Speaker 3: that was one of Jeff Levy's best all-around games since
- 26:27Speaker 3: Mississippi State and probably a promise of better things to come.
- 26:31Speaker 2: David Murray talking Mississippi State. They defeat Minnesota over the
- 26:33Speaker 2: weekend 38-13 and will stay on the road at South
- 26:37Speaker 2: Carolina this weekend. They're a 3.5-point underdog on the road. David,
- 26:41Speaker 2: Camario Taylor just looks comfortable. He looks polished. He's making
- 26:46Speaker 2: great decisions with the football and the offensive line is
- 26:49Speaker 2: giving him protection. It'll be interesting to see now as
- 26:51Speaker 2: they move into SEC play this weekend. I would say
- 26:55Speaker 2: the pressure is on South Carolina. There was a stat
- 26:57Speaker 2: out there. Obviously, there's pressure on both teams, but I
- 27:00Speaker 2: believe Shane Beamer, and this is from Brad Powers with
- 27:02Speaker 2: CBS Sports and 247sports. com, that I believe Shane Beamer is
- 27:08Speaker 2: 2-7 versus his, no, 2-9 in his last 11 games
- 27:12Speaker 2: against powerful opponents. So, I mean, the pressure is squarely
- 27:15Speaker 2: on Shane Beamer and Lenore Sellers in South Carolina. What
- 27:18Speaker 2: do you expect to see in Columbia?
- 27:21Speaker 3: In that regard, I agree. I think the home team
- 27:23Speaker 3: has more pressure this weekend. Mississippi State's pressure, though, is
- 27:26Speaker 3: different because Bulldogs have to come out of September 3-1
- 27:31Speaker 3: and much preferably 4-0. But to do that, you've got
- 27:34Speaker 3: to beat South Carolina, which I think the original line
- 27:36Speaker 3: opened up just over a touchdown. Now it's down to
- 27:39Speaker 3: basically the three-point home field advantage. So it's going to
- 27:43Speaker 3: be fascinating to me to see which team handles their
- 27:46Speaker 3: differing types of pressure better because this is a situation that,
- 27:51Speaker 3: let's be honest, Kamario Taylor has not been in before. Yeah,
- 27:53Speaker 3: it was a road game at Minnesota, but they were
- 27:56Speaker 3: able to establish things early there. The Egg Bowl, the
- 28:00Speaker 3: bowl game, you can't really say he's under pressure because
- 28:02Speaker 3: he's a new guy and so much forgiven. This is
- 28:04Speaker 3: when you start saying, okay, now it's time to truly
- 28:07Speaker 3: be a quarterback with a capital Q in all the
- 28:10Speaker 3: weekday stuff, all the pregame, all the between series stuff,
- 28:14Speaker 3: things like that. I'm fully confident that he will be
- 28:16Speaker 3: able to handle things. He'll get better as he gets older.
- 28:19Speaker 3: but now here comes a test and kind of a
- 28:21Speaker 3: turning point as well in his career and his advancement there.
- 28:24Speaker 3: And for the entire offense as well, because South Carolina
- 28:27Speaker 3: is going to seriously come after Cabrillo. So he's going
- 28:31Speaker 3: to make more plays with his feet, but his skill
- 28:33Speaker 3: position players, they're going to have to create on their
- 28:36Speaker 3: own in their individual matchups. So there's that. And, of course,
- 28:40Speaker 3: we talk about Lenore Sellers. This– Zach Arnett only blitzed
- 28:45Speaker 3: a couple of times, a serious blitz at Minnesota, even
- 28:48Speaker 3: after they committed wholeheartedly past. And Jeff Levy said today,
- 28:51Speaker 3: basically they were given the dink and dunk underneath as
- 28:54Speaker 3: long as they can make sure tackles. And, you know,
- 28:56Speaker 3: it didn't produce any touchdowns. South Carolina is not going
- 28:59Speaker 3: to settle for that. They're going to try to force
- 29:00Speaker 3: things downfield. They're going to try to force things in
- 29:03Speaker 3: second and third progressions there with the Norse moving on
- 29:06Speaker 3: his feet. So it's going to be staying integrity in pursuit,
- 29:11Speaker 3: not letting him get by you. But once you get
- 29:14Speaker 3: within arm's reach, you get a hand on him, you've
- 29:15Speaker 3: got to bring him down. That's easier said than done
- 29:18Speaker 3: because this is a big, healthy guy. But that's going
- 29:21Speaker 3: to be the test for Arnett's defense. And I think
- 29:23Speaker 3: he's– this will be the game I think, and again, repeat,
- 29:25Speaker 3: just think, that Arnett is going to turn his guys
- 29:28Speaker 3: entirely loose to go get him. That means some plays
- 29:31Speaker 3: will get blown as a process by being aggressive, but
- 29:33Speaker 3: there's going to be some plays made in the process.
- 29:35Speaker 3: It's which one counteracts the other more that will determine
- 29:38Speaker 3: the course of this game for State.
- 29:40Speaker 1: Defense.
- 29:41Speaker 2: David, I know history, you know, I guess you kind
- 29:44Speaker 2: of throw history out the window in this era of
- 29:47Speaker 2: transfer portal because, you know, in name, image, and likeness
- 29:49Speaker 2: and pay for play, but the series has been really close.
- 29:52Speaker 2: South Carolina owns a 10-7 edge over Mississippi State. They've
- 29:55Speaker 2: only played 17 times. The last time they played was
- 29:57Speaker 2: 2023 in Columbia, South Carolina got a 37-30 win. And
- 30:02Speaker 2: prior to that, Mississippi State got a win in 2016, 27-14.
- 30:08Speaker 2: Your thoughts on that building. It is one of the
- 30:10Speaker 2: tougher places to play. It will be a game where
- 30:16Speaker 2: the first SEC game for both teams, the first big
- 30:19Speaker 2: SEC crowd. But I think we can kind of throw
- 30:21Speaker 2: history out. But traditionally, this has been a close ballgame
- 30:24Speaker 2: between State and South Carolina.
- 30:27Speaker 3: Yeah, I think you can toss that out because history
- 30:29Speaker 3: is whatever each year's transfer class is. That's basically what
- 30:32Speaker 3: it's turned into. But the other side story to this,
- 30:36Speaker 3: and several media wanted to pursue that angle this morning,
- 30:38Speaker 3: is the obvious Jeff Levy versus Kendall Bryles matchup today.
- 30:42Speaker 3: They're brothers-in-law, obviously, very good friends. They compare notes. And
- 30:45Speaker 3: Levy said, yeah, there's a lot of similarity in their style,
- 30:51Speaker 3: but in the actual play systems they run, there are differences.
- 30:54Speaker 3: And I didn't bother to go into what those differences are.
- 30:57Speaker 3: But he said regardless, yes, the familiarity will play into
- 31:02Speaker 3: how the defenses play. But here he said both defenses
- 31:05Speaker 3: have the same advantage. They both practice against this kind
- 31:08Speaker 3: of offense all the time as well. So neither team
- 31:12Speaker 3: is going to have really that much of a scouting
- 31:13Speaker 3: advantage or style advantage in practices there. So this is
- 31:17Speaker 3: going to be a really good straight-up test. And, man,
- 31:20Speaker 3: if this was on a neutral field, I honestly do
- 31:23Speaker 3: not know how anybody would pick it because it's going
- 31:26Speaker 3: to come down to, Probably who gets the first really
- 31:30Speaker 3: big break and makes it hold up there. You know,
- 31:32Speaker 3: I thought State's biggest response the other day was after
- 31:35Speaker 3: Minnesota went on that 10-minute drive, ate up a ton
- 31:38Speaker 3: of clock, kind of harking back to the old Brett
- 31:40Speaker 3: Bielma Arkansas teams, that even if they didn't score in
- 31:44Speaker 3: a drive, they made you feel like you had to hurry, hurry,
- 31:46Speaker 3: hurry to score and got you out of their game.
- 31:49Speaker 3: State responded just fine. They stayed calm. They pounded the ball.
- 31:52Speaker 3: They hit the passes when they needed to. and went
- 31:54Speaker 3: to a two-touchdown lead. And from there on, they were
- 31:57Speaker 3: just in control. So this is going to be a
- 31:59Speaker 3: totally different game. It's going to be a bunch of
- 32:01Speaker 3: short possessions. It's going to be a bunch of big plays,
- 32:03Speaker 3: big attempts, big sacks, big turnovers probably. It's just going
- 32:07Speaker 3: to be all kinds of rowdy fun to watch.
- 32:10Speaker 2: Make sure to get him at jeanspage247sports. com. Get the podcast.
- 32:13Speaker 2: Find him on X. He's David Murray. David, enjoy the week.
- 32:16Speaker 2: It should be a good one. We'll do it again
- 32:17Speaker 2: next week.
- 32:18Speaker 3: By the way, a reminder out there that fall baseball
- 32:21Speaker 3: starts this weekend, and I believe Brian O'Connor is opening
- 32:25Speaker 3: things up on Friday for the public to watch his
- 32:28Speaker 3: 2027 roster practice for the first time out there. So
- 32:32Speaker 3: they'll announce the time later, but fans in the area
- 32:35Speaker 3: who aren't hitting up high school football or not making
- 32:38Speaker 3: the road trip to South Carolina, join us at the
- 32:40Speaker 3: stadium there, and let's get a look at the Diamond
- 32:42Speaker 3: Dogs already.
- 32:43Speaker 2: Very good. Fall baseball is here. David, thanks so much.
- 32:45Speaker 2: We'll talk next week.
- 32:47Speaker 3: Jake, Ben, good to hear from you.
- 32:48Speaker 2: Thanks so much. We're brought to you by the MHSAA,

- 33:04Speaker 2: just a bit.
- 33:05Speaker 1: On ESPN 105.9 The Zone and online at TheZone1059.
- 33:06Speaker 3: Com.
- 33:30Speaker 2: Appreciate David Murray jumping in, talking Mississippi State's big win
- 33:32Speaker 2: over Minnesota. Also, the trip to South Carolina. We're brought
- 33:35Speaker 2: to you by Mississippi Blood Services. We'll have Casey Dixon
- 33:38Speaker 2: in around 4.30. Talk about how you can win tickets
- 33:40Speaker 2: to the Saints and Falcons coming up here very, very soon.
- 33:44Speaker 2: Go to msblood.com or call 601-368-2673. Clay sent us a text.
- 33:46Speaker 2: You can too. 601-885-3776. He's got a ticket from Ameristar.
- 33:48Speaker 2: He said, can you get any closer on a parlay
- 33:50Speaker 2: and not hit? And it's like he's got a 1, 2, 3, 4, 5,
- 34:01Speaker 2: 6-leg parlay. Bieber, what did he miss here?
- 34:05Speaker 4: His one miss here.
- 34:07Speaker 5: Louisiana Tech LSU, he took LSU to cover 35.5.
- 34:11Speaker 4: LSU won by 31.
- 34:13Speaker 2: Oh, my goodness. My goodness. Clay, that's a good ticket, though.
- 34:17Speaker 2: He nailed Arizona State at Texas A & M. He
- 34:20Speaker 2: took the Aggies to cover. He took Georgia to cover
- 34:22Speaker 2: the 41 against Western Kentucky.
- 34:25Speaker 1: They did that.
- 34:25Speaker 2: Alabama at Kentucky. Bama minus 10.5. That was a sluggish
- 34:29Speaker 2: start for the time, but they ended up hitting the gas.
- 34:32Speaker 2: Mississippi State, Minnesota. He took State to cover the one,
- 34:36Speaker 2: and he took Southern Miss plus 33.5 at Auburn. So
- 34:41Speaker 2: he just missed the one. It's a good ticket.
- 34:43Speaker 4: That is a good ticket, Clay. I feel your pain
- 34:47Speaker 4: so hard.
- 34:48Speaker 6: Uh-oh.
- 34:48Speaker 4: I had a seven-teamer over the weekend. Six right, Jake.
- 34:53Speaker 1: Really?
- 34:53Speaker 4: Six right. The one that missed, the one that missed.
- 34:56Speaker 5: Lions to cover seven, which was easily in hand until
- 35:01Speaker 5: late third quarter.
- 35:02Speaker 4: And then it just went nuts.
- 35:04Speaker 2: Oh, my gosh. You involve the Saints, and they got
- 35:08Speaker 2: you anyway. They got you anyway. Marcus Freeman, the head
- 35:12Speaker 2: football coach at Notre Dame, joins Newt Rockne as the
- 35:15Speaker 2: only Notre Dame coaches, the only two Notre Dame coaches
- 35:18Speaker 2: to win 12 consecutive games by double digits. In nine
- 35:22Speaker 2: of the 12 games, Irish have at least a 20-point
- 35:25Speaker 2: or a 20-point favorite, and only once less than a
- 35:28Speaker 2: 10-point favorite in a 12-game span. Irish, on average, a
- 35:32Speaker 2: 24-point favorite. So elite company there for Marcus Freeman with
- 35:36Speaker 2: Newt Rockne. All right, Brett McMurphy's bowl projections week three.
- 35:42Speaker 2: I know you love these. If the playoff were today,
- 35:45Speaker 2: he has Boise State as a 12-seed, taking on 5-seed
- 35:48Speaker 2: Notre Dame. He has Texas A & M as a 9-seed,
- 35:51Speaker 2: playing at Ole Miss as an 8-seed. BYU is an
- 35:55Speaker 2: 11-seed playing at a 6-seed LSU, and he has Texas
- 35:57Speaker 2: Tech as a 10-seed playing at a 7-seed Indiana. Miami
- 36:01Speaker 2: taking on Notre Dame, 4-5 matchup in the Fiesta Bowl. No.
- 36:06Speaker 2: 1 Texas taking on No. 8 Ole Miss in the
- 36:08Speaker 2: Cotton Bowl.
- 36:10Speaker 5: No.
- 36:10Speaker 2: 3 Ohio State taking on LSU in the Rose Bowl.
- 36:13Speaker 1: No.
- 36:13Speaker 2: 2 Georgia taking on Indiana in the Peach Bowl. And
- 36:17Speaker 2: his final four, he has Georgia versus Ohio State, a
- 36:20Speaker 2: 2-3 matchup, Texas-Miami. and a 1-4 matchup, and he has Georgia.
- 36:24Speaker 2: Miami was still Georgia winning the national title on Brett
- 36:28Speaker 2: McMurphy's Week 3 update. And let's see, did Mississippi State
- 36:32Speaker 2: do enough to get into a bowl on his Week
- 36:35Speaker 2: 3 projections, at least today? Let's look and see. James Madison,
- 36:41Speaker 2: Liberty in the New Orleans Bowl. I know you'll be
- 36:43Speaker 2: excited about that. I am looking through here, and Clemson
- 36:48Speaker 2: versus Navy in the Military Bowl. I don't know that
- 36:51Speaker 2: Clemson will make that bowl. Auburn, Colorado in the Birmingham Bowl. Houston,
- 36:55Speaker 2: Oregon in the Alamo Bowl. Is Oregon going to fall
- 36:58Speaker 2: that far after one week? Oklahoma, Washington in the Las
- 37:01Speaker 2: Vegas Bowl. Mississippi State, Oklahoma State in the Texas Bowl.
- 37:05Speaker 2: How about that? You think state fans would take that?
- 37:09Speaker 2: Texas Bowl versus Oklahoma State?
- 37:11Speaker 4: I think so, Mike. The baby steps get to a bowl,
- 37:15Speaker 4: and there you are. Get to a bowl.
- 37:18Speaker 2: Alabama, Penn State in the Citrus Bowl, and Missouri TCU
- 37:23Speaker 2: in the Liberty Bowl. That's Brett McMurphy's week three picks on.
- 37:31Speaker 1: On3. com.
- 37:31Speaker 2: All right, I'm looking at something here. Florida State has
- 37:34Speaker 2: fired their athletics director. Did you see this? He's gone.
- 37:37Speaker 2: So Michael Alford puts this statement out. Dear FSU athletics community,
- 37:42Speaker 2: more than six years ago, I arrived in Tallahassee with
- 37:44Speaker 2: my family to first serve the Seminole Boosters and then
- 37:47Speaker 2: lead the Department of Athletics. During our time here, we
- 37:50Speaker 2: have embraced the university, the Seminole athletic family, and the
- 37:53Speaker 2: greater Tallahassee community and made this our home. While I
- 37:57Speaker 2: will leave it to others to provide thoughts on our
- 37:59Speaker 2: accomplishments and challenges, I am proud of what we were
- 38:02Speaker 2: able to achieve here. He goes on, this is just
- 38:04Speaker 2: a stump speech. He said, I'm so grateful. For the
- 38:06Speaker 2: incredibly talented and devoted staff and coaches who have been
- 38:09Speaker 2: a part of our story, da-da-da, da-da-da, sincerely, Michael Alford.
- 38:14Speaker 2: So he is out, which is not good for Mike
- 38:16Speaker 2: Norvell because he could be next. And if they get
- 38:19Speaker 2: drugged this weekend in Tuscaloosa, it could be bad for
- 38:24Speaker 2: Mike Norvell. All right, Florida is a big favorite out
- 38:28Speaker 2: the gate on Polymarket versus Auburn. And I say big,
- 38:31Speaker 2: 56% to 44%. So the money is coming in on
- 38:34Speaker 2: Florida quickly. Do you have any Monday thoughts on Florida
- 38:39Speaker 2: versus Auburn? Now, Gator Matt, if he was to call in,
- 38:41Speaker 2: he would tell you they're going to go down there
- 38:42Speaker 2: and win by two touchdowns. What do you think?
- 38:47Speaker 5: I haven't seen enough of either of them, quite honest.
- 38:51Speaker 5: I haven't watched either of their games. I haven't watched
- 38:56Speaker 5: a second of Florida or Auburn this year because why
- 39:00Speaker 5: would I want to watch Florida and Campbell, Auburn and
- 39:03Speaker 5: Southern Miss?
- 39:04Speaker 4: No thanks.
- 39:05Speaker 1: Right.
- 39:06Speaker 5: So I don't know enough about these teams to even
- 39:08Speaker 5: make a guess, but you know where I stand constantly
- 39:12Speaker 5: on Auburn. I just don't feel like they're ever getting
- 39:15Speaker 5: back to, ever's a big word, but no time soon
- 39:19Speaker 5: are they getting back to a good Auburn. So if
- 39:22Speaker 5: I had to, if you made, if you forced me
- 39:24Speaker 5: to make a pick, I would probably guess Florida's going
- 39:27Speaker 5: to win.
- 39:28Speaker 2: So John Summerall obviously has some family ties to Auburn.
- 39:32Speaker 2: And he was asked about any family members who are
- 39:36Speaker 2: rooting against him this week. He says, quote, if I do,
- 39:39Speaker 2: they're no family to me. He said, Florida pays my mortgage.
- 39:44Speaker 2: Any family that's pulling against us, they're not my family.
- 39:47Speaker 2: So John Summerall trying to make it tough on Thanksgiving
- 39:50Speaker 2: and Christmas right now with his other family members. Like, hey,
- 39:53Speaker 2: pull for my mortgage or you're not getting any turkey. Again,
- 39:58Speaker 2: Florida State President Richard McCullough addresses Mike Norvell's future following
- 40:02Speaker 2: Athletics Director Michael Alford's firing. He says, quote, I love
- 40:05Speaker 2: Mike Norvell. He's a great human being. It's never good
- 40:09Speaker 2: when it starts like that. He says, nobody wants to
- 40:12Speaker 2: win matches or in the winning business. That's what we're
- 40:15Speaker 2: working on. That doesn't say a whole lot. It's kind
- 40:18Speaker 2: of like when somebody calls you in their office to say, hey,
- 40:20Speaker 2: shut the door. You know, we're just like family here.
- 40:24Speaker 2: That conversation is about to go south real quick. Just
