- 0:09Speaker 2: Now back to the Mark Simo show on wor.
- 0:15Speaker 1: Hey, let's take some calls. Let's go to uh Christine
- 0:19Speaker 1: in Manhattan. Christine, how you doing?
- 0:21Speaker 3: Hi?
- 0:22Speaker 4: Can you hear me?
- 0:23Speaker 1: Yeah?
- 0:24Speaker 4: Oh great?
- 0:25Speaker 1: Listen right the way I can hear you without a phone,
- 0:28Speaker 1: the way you talk.
- 0:30Speaker 4: Oh well, I'm gonna get this news across to you
- 0:32Speaker 4: if you don't already know it. When in twenty eighteen,
- 0:37Speaker 4: Queen Elizabeth, before she died, conferred a royal title on Bloomberg.
- 0:44Speaker 4: This was KB E Knight of the British Empire.
- 0:48Speaker 3: Yes he has.
- 0:49Speaker 1: They do realize this is not breaking news.
- 0:54Speaker 4: Well you didn't mention it when you were talking about Bloomberg.
- 0:56Speaker 1: You don't really need to mention that.
- 0:58Speaker 4: He entertained his master, the King.
- 1:00Speaker 1: There's about two thousand people that have been knighted. You
- 1:02Speaker 1: can be. You start as a member of the British
- 1:04Speaker 1: Empire and MB. Then you become a cbe a commander,
- 1:08Speaker 1: and then you become this guy.
- 1:09Speaker 4: This guy is a KB and it is that's the
- 1:13Speaker 4: highest three levels. The queen converted on him. Yes, the
- 1:18Speaker 4: First Amendment of the US Constitution states no royal titles.
- 1:24Speaker 1: Yeah, we know all this.
- 1:26Speaker 4: He brought it up. A lot of people don't know it.
- 1:33Speaker 1: I think it's not that urgent. Whenever you start with
- 1:36Speaker 1: you know, in twenty eighteen, it's not breaking news. Now
- 1:39Speaker 1: you actually you know, you get there's actually four levels.
- 1:42Speaker 1: But like, for instance, if you were the Beatles at
- 1:47Speaker 1: the height of their fame, they were knighted. Like you
- 1:49Speaker 1: go right to level one Beatles, you're really big, you're knighted.
- 1:54Speaker 1: They become knights. But Tula Clark got an MBE. That's
- 1:58Speaker 1: like a notch down. That's the British Empire. She may
- 2:02Speaker 1: have been elevated since then, but it depends. Hey, speaking
- 2:04Speaker 1: of the Beatles, big in Europe. But then it came
- 2:07Speaker 1: and did the Sullivan Show, that famous Sunday night, and
- 2:10Speaker 1: like I it was eighty million people watched and the
- 2:14Speaker 1: next day they you know, that was it. They took
- 2:16Speaker 1: America by some They were on the Ed Sullivan Show.
- 2:19Speaker 1: Everybody in America saw them. Now, think about this, if
- 2:22Speaker 1: they came over here today, what would they do? Where
- 2:26Speaker 1: would they go? There's no variety shows in prime time?
- 2:30Speaker 1: They could go on The Tonight Show with Jimmy Fallon.
- 2:33Speaker 1: That's about nine hundred thousand people. It's not eighty million.
- 2:37Speaker 1: They could go on Kimmel Fallon Colbert, they could go
- 2:40Speaker 1: on every night for a week and they'd reach about
- 2:43Speaker 1: maybe three million people. That's about it. There's no where
- 2:46Speaker 1: if they came to America. There's no where you could
- 2:48Speaker 1: go to do that.
- 2:48Speaker 2: Now.
- 2:50Speaker 1: The closest you could get to that today, believe or now,
- 2:53Speaker 1: it's iHeart. When was the last time we did this.
- 2:56Speaker 1: We've done it once in a while. Once in iHeart
- 2:59Speaker 1: will do a special thing where all like one thousand
- 3:02Speaker 1: radio stations will play the same thing at the same
- 3:04Speaker 1: moment at one thirty, like eight thirty in the morning.
- 3:07Speaker 1: We did it a few years ago. Was it for
- 3:09Speaker 1: the new Billy Joel record. No, it's for something some
- 3:13Speaker 1: new recording had come out something, so on every iHeart
- 3:17Speaker 1: station in America all at once. It got played at
- 3:20Speaker 1: eight thirty in the morning, and I think with that,
- 3:22Speaker 1: like sixty seventy million people heard it. But outside of that,
- 3:26Speaker 1: you can't reach that kind of an audience anymore. Let's
- 3:29Speaker 1: go to Mike and Florida. Mike, how you doing good?
- 3:32Speaker 2: Morning, Mark. Yes, Mike, it's funny you should play the
- 3:35Speaker 2: Beatles because I was going to reference them in my
- 3:37Speaker 2: comments about mom Donnie and that being that he's one
- 3:40Speaker 2: of those dorks who comes up with the most obscure
- 3:43Speaker 2: trivial nobody cares about fact and states it and people
- 3:49Speaker 2: he thinks people are going to walk away and go
- 3:51Speaker 2: that guy's a genius. And I was going to the
- 3:52Speaker 2: reference the Beatles reference was going to be, it's like
- 3:54Speaker 2: those people you'll meet at a Beatles convention and they
- 3:58Speaker 2: have to be the star of the convention. You know,
- 4:00Speaker 2: we know how eight toes on one foot, you know,
- 4:02Speaker 2: in one of those things like go, okay, I guess
- 4:04Speaker 2: you're the king. Yeah, there are guys and then.
- 4:07Speaker 1: Yeah, they do that with every artist. It's fanatics for
- 4:09Speaker 1: every artist. But that's a good point. Nope, you're still there.
- 4:14Speaker 2: Yeah, yeah, yes, And so it shows you what a
- 4:16Speaker 2: lightweight Mondani really is, because you know, it's like that
- 4:20Speaker 2: that we know about giving back the diamond that the
- 4:22Speaker 2: British soul from India. Please nobody cares, well, the half
- 4:26Speaker 2: of Indians don't care.
- 4:27Speaker 1: Yeah, No, what happens is Mondannie's a very highly educated
- 4:30Speaker 1: ivy League, went to the finest schools, the finest ivy league.
- 4:33Speaker 1: And that's what happens when you go to those things
- 4:35Speaker 1: where you're one of those professors. You know all kinds
- 4:38Speaker 1: of useless knowledge about nothing that you can't make a
- 4:41Speaker 1: diamond in the real world. But they spew it all
- 4:44Speaker 1: the time, like they know about this diamond from seventeen
- 4:48Speaker 1: eighty two that nobody, I mean, they just know all
- 4:50Speaker 1: this stuff. Meantime, he becomes mayor of New York, has
- 4:54Speaker 1: no clue how to run a city, no clue how
- 4:55Speaker 1: to build a grocery store, a grocery store because about
- 5:00Speaker 1: as low as one million, ald spends a lot of
- 5:03Speaker 1: money when they come to New York, they spend three
- 5:04Speaker 1: million for each grocery store. He's spending thirty million. It's
- 5:08Speaker 1: now weeks later, and he still hasn't figured out it's
- 5:12Speaker 1: like ten times more than supposed to cost. Hasn't figured
- 5:14Speaker 1: it out, doesn't know what to do about it. Let's
- 5:17Speaker 1: go to kenon Brooklyn, Ken, how you doing okay?
- 5:20Speaker 3: Mark, Good to hear from you. Good to talk to
- 5:22Speaker 3: you again. Mark. I'm confused about this correspondence dinner attempt
- 5:26Speaker 3: on the President. Two things first, I'm watching this footage
- 5:30Speaker 3: right now of this this guy run past like eight
- 5:34Speaker 3: Secret Service agents. Not only did they all freeze, but
- 5:37Speaker 3: the one he was closest to backed up and didn't
- 5:42Speaker 3: proceed forward. It's the weirdest thing. And then why I
- 5:45Speaker 3: don't understand when they get all these the FBI director
- 5:49Speaker 3: and the new Attorney General, they're all like they're at
- 5:51Speaker 3: the oscars congratulating everybody, what a good job. I don't
- 5:55Speaker 3: even get that.
- 5:55Speaker 1: Well, the problem is the setup outside. There's different divisions,
- 6:00Speaker 1: the Secret Service, that's the uniform division that runs that outside.
- 6:03Speaker 1: You're supposed to set up a zigzag. The problem is
- 6:05Speaker 1: they didn't do that, so it was a straight line
- 6:09Speaker 1: all the way down that corridor. But you're supposed to.
- 6:11Speaker 1: You know, when you go somewhere and you have to
- 6:13Speaker 1: turn this way, there's fences, and then when you get
- 6:15Speaker 1: there down you have to turn around and go this way.
- 6:18Speaker 1: Then you got to turn around and go back this way.
- 6:19Speaker 1: You keep turning around. It's a zigzag. The reason they
- 6:22Speaker 1: do that is so you can't get up any speed,
- 6:26Speaker 1: Like the road that leads to the military base entrance
- 6:29Speaker 1: is always a zigzag. If it were a straight line,
- 6:32Speaker 1: you could get up so much speed, so that's the problem.
- 6:35Speaker 1: They forgot to set up the zigzag properly with the
- 6:37Speaker 1: fencing and it was just a straight hallway, so the
- 6:41Speaker 1: guy was able to get up a lot of speed running.
- 6:44Speaker 1: A lot of mistakes were made there and that a
- 6:46Speaker 1: big one. And had they've had that zigzag, he wouldn't
- 6:49Speaker 1: have been running. They would have stopped him about fifty
- 6:51Speaker 1: feet earlier. Well, when we come back, the great economist
- 6:55Speaker 1: Steed Moore will be with us next lots to talk
- 6:58Speaker 1: to him about coming up on seven and ten. W
- 7:01Speaker 1: O R.
