- 0:10Speaker 1: Good day everybody. This is the preview edition of Birds Weekly,
- 0:14Speaker 1: presented by the Inside the Bird's Network. And happy New
- 0:18Speaker 1: Year from my colleague and friend Ray. Didn't you to
- 0:21Speaker 1: myself and and Ray?
- 0:23Speaker 2: Uh?
- 0:24Speaker 1: Did you go out and party on Wednesday night? Uh?
- 0:29Speaker 3: Just my wife, me and the bulldog?
- 0:31Speaker 2: That was it.
- 0:32Speaker 3: We've reached that point in our life where that's that's
- 0:34Speaker 3: about all we can handle.
- 0:38Speaker 1: I'm right there with you, man, those days of going
- 0:41Speaker 1: out and staying out late on the box. The mindsets
- 0:44Speaker 1: go and the body says no. So so I've learned
- 0:47Speaker 1: my lesson a long time ago. But we we learned
- 0:50Speaker 1: on Tuesday that Nick Sirianni uh decides that they're going
- 0:56Speaker 1: to sit most of their regulars. A few will play,
- 1:00Speaker 1: and I would imagine those are going to be pulled
- 1:02Speaker 1: depending on how the game unfolds. You know, interesting move
- 1:08Speaker 1: to stay the least. You know, you and I both
- 1:11Speaker 1: thought that the regulars could play, especially with that two
- 1:14Speaker 1: seeds still in play. You know, your thoughts on on
- 1:20Speaker 1: Sirianni deciding to to Cities regulars considering how the offense
- 1:25Speaker 1: in particular play against Buffalo, especially the offensive line, and
- 1:31Speaker 1: how ineffective the offense was, especially in that second half.
- 1:35Speaker 3: Yeah, there are a couple of different levels to this decision.
- 1:41Speaker 3: I I if it were me, I would play them.
- 1:45Speaker 3: I felt like as long as the two you had
- 1:49Speaker 3: a chance for the two seed, I would have gone
- 1:53Speaker 3: for it. I guess what they're thinking is that we
- 1:57Speaker 3: can probably win this game against off as Washington is
- 2:01Speaker 3: right now, we can probably win this game with our backups.
- 2:04Speaker 3: Maybe that's true. But I would have gone for it.
- 2:07Speaker 1: I was.
- 2:08Speaker 3: But I know that the mindset of this coaching staff
- 2:13Speaker 3: at this organization is generally to be on the conservative
- 2:15Speaker 3: side in these kinds of matters, and that's clearly where
- 2:18Speaker 3: they've gone now. So Okay, maybe you can win this
- 2:23Speaker 3: game with your backups. I don't rule that possibility out.
- 2:26Speaker 3: But there's the other side of it, is you know,
- 2:30Speaker 3: your your offense. The last game you played the second
- 2:34Speaker 3: half seventeen yards and seventeen plays, I mean, might not
- 2:39Speaker 3: be the worst thing to get your offense another game
- 2:42Speaker 3: in and against the thirty first ranked defense here with
- 2:45Speaker 3: Washington and maybe get you know, and maybe get something going.
- 2:50Speaker 3: Is this the safer way? I guess from a physical standpoint,
- 2:53Speaker 3: it is. But as up and down and sideways as
- 2:58Speaker 3: this offense has been real from the very beginning of
- 3:01Speaker 3: the season. You know, the idea that you could just
- 3:04Speaker 3: set your key players out now and in two weeks
- 3:07Speaker 3: just flip the switch and say, okay, boys, go get them.
- 3:10Speaker 3: I don't know, it seems like you're you're assuming a lot.
- 3:13Speaker 1: You know, winning definitely comes into play, especially if Chicago
- 3:17Speaker 1: loses that game to Detroit at home. I mean, if
- 3:21Speaker 1: you're the three seed, you get stuck playing the likes
- 3:24Speaker 1: of the Rams, are the forty nine ers, depending on
- 3:27Speaker 1: how things play itself out this coming weekend. If you
- 3:31Speaker 1: elevate yourself to the SIU two seed, you get to
- 3:34Speaker 1: play the reeling Green Bay Packers who are signing people
- 3:37Speaker 1: left and right, just the phild roster spots right now.
- 3:42Speaker 1: And when I look at the prospects of playing against
- 3:44Speaker 1: the Rams of the forty nine ers, boy can they
- 3:46Speaker 1: put points on the board. But if you looked at
- 3:49Speaker 1: the way they played their last couple of games, you know,
- 3:52Speaker 1: the Rams against Atlanta and of course San Francisco against Chicago,
- 3:56Speaker 1: there wasn't much defense defense played on these teams. And
- 4:00Speaker 1: you know, these are two teams that would play a
- 4:02Speaker 1: pretty good defense to get them where they are right now.
- 4:05Speaker 1: I mean, it's a roll of the dice, but you know,
- 4:09Speaker 1: I'd hate to be sitting here next Monday saying, man,
- 4:12Speaker 1: you know, they lost to Washington and Chicago loss and
- 4:16Speaker 1: here we are now stuck playing the Hams of forty
- 4:19Speaker 1: nine ers exactly right.
- 4:21Speaker 3: And you know you're thinking at the number two seed.
- 4:24Speaker 3: You mentioned the more favorable matchup, which clearly is Green Bay.
- 4:28Speaker 3: But the other part of it is you're in a
- 4:30Speaker 3: position where you can now play at least two home games,
- 4:34Speaker 3: depending on how things go with the number one seed,
- 4:37Speaker 3: maybe all your home games. And that's what you got
- 4:39Speaker 3: last year. And you know, I know history doesn't always
- 4:45Speaker 3: repeat itself, but I mean, if you look at this
- 4:47Speaker 3: team's history, the two years that they went on and
- 4:50Speaker 3: won the Super Bowl, they played every postseason game at home,
- 4:55Speaker 3: all the playoff games short of Super Bowl. But each
- 4:57Speaker 3: of those years they had home field straight through the NFC.
- 5:02Speaker 3: And again last year, even though they weren't the number
- 5:04Speaker 3: one seed, it worked out that they got every home game.
- 5:08Speaker 3: You know, there's there's definitely value in that, and I
- 5:12Speaker 3: certainly would have been I certainly would have tried to
- 5:13Speaker 3: play for it and hope that maybe it would have
- 5:15Speaker 3: happened again. I mean, you look at this team's record
- 5:18Speaker 3: under Nick Sirianni in the postseason, in in playoffs and
- 5:23Speaker 3: in conference playoffs. Five and zero at home, own two
- 5:26Speaker 3: on the road. Yeah, I mean I would. I would
- 5:28Speaker 3: try and play as many home games as I could,
- 5:31Speaker 3: and if that meant playing for the number two seed
- 5:33Speaker 3: on Sunday against Washington, I think that's what I would
- 5:36Speaker 3: have done. That we'll see, you know, now, we'll see.
- 5:38Speaker 3: I mean, we'll go out there and play Sunday. And
- 5:41Speaker 3: could they beat Washington with their backups? Yeah, maybe they could.
- 5:44Speaker 3: But I wouldn't have done this again. I think that
- 5:48Speaker 3: going back, I think the way this offense has performed
- 5:51Speaker 3: this year, I don't know. I think there was stuff
- 5:54Speaker 3: you still could have worked on. I would have I
- 5:56Speaker 3: would have liked to have seen them go out and
- 5:57Speaker 3: try and get their offense cranked up a little bit,
- 5:59Speaker 3: and then play the scoreboard game and see how your
- 6:02Speaker 3: game's going with one eye on the on what's happening
- 6:05Speaker 3: in Chicago, and you know, maybe you could take your
- 6:08Speaker 3: guys out at halftime. But I would have started.
- 6:10Speaker 1: The game with my with my ones, you know, Ray,
- 6:12Speaker 1: I'm sitting here, and I'm thinking, I believe this Eagles
- 6:15Speaker 1: team could beat Washington with his backups, and I kind
- 6:19Speaker 1: of believe maybe the backups, especially in offense, will be
- 6:24Speaker 1: a little bit more effective maybe than what we've seen
- 6:27Speaker 1: from the starters. As weird as it as weird as
- 6:29Speaker 1: it seems, of course, this has been when you look
- 6:32Speaker 1: across the board, this has been a weird season, to
- 6:34Speaker 1: say the least. It has.
- 6:37Speaker 3: Uh, and not just here but all across the league. Yeah.
- 6:40Speaker 3: I mean you and I doing our weekly conversations, I
- 6:45Speaker 3: mean we've said how many times that I've never seen
- 6:49Speaker 3: the league, I've never seen it more wide open.
- 6:51Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:52Speaker 3: Yeah, And and here we are, I mean, coming into
- 6:55Speaker 3: the final week of the regular season, looking into the playoffs,
- 6:58Speaker 3: and it's still that way. Yeah, I mean it's still
- 7:00Speaker 3: that way. I mean there isn't there There aren't those
- 7:03Speaker 3: couple of teams that have kind of risen above everybody
- 7:06Speaker 3: else that you know, those are the teams. Nobody's gonna
- 7:10Speaker 3: beat those guys. No, I mean it's it's the door
- 7:14Speaker 3: is wide open.
- 7:15Speaker 1: Uh.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And you got half the teams in the league, it
- 7:18Speaker 3: seems like trying to crash on through there and the
- 7:20Speaker 3: Eagles are one of them. But it's this is this
- 7:23Speaker 3: is a great year for a team that right now,
- 7:25Speaker 3: all of a sudden just get hot. And I don't
- 7:27Speaker 3: know if seed one, two, three, four means all that much.
- 7:30Speaker 3: You know, it's I mean, it looks like you've got
- 7:32Speaker 3: a lot of teams that are all kind of the same.
- 7:35Speaker 3: But still having said that, I would rather play as
- 7:38Speaker 3: many of them at home as I could.
- 7:39Speaker 1: Yeah, and you know, basically Eagles fans in a lot
- 7:43Speaker 1: of ways. Now we'll get to see what many have
- 7:45Speaker 1: been clamoring for for the latter part of the season.
- 7:49Speaker 1: It looks like Tanner McKee is going to be starting
- 7:51Speaker 1: a quarterback. We're going to see extensive play from Tank Bigsby.
- 7:56Speaker 1: Uh let's start with Tanner. What do you what are
- 7:59Speaker 1: you hoping this see from him in this game? I mean,
- 8:02Speaker 1: he doesn't make many mistakes. He hasn't had a lot
- 8:05Speaker 1: of reps, but when he's in there, he doesn't make
- 8:06Speaker 1: a lot of mistakes with the football. He has an
- 8:09Speaker 1: accurate arm, and he has a pretty good deep arm
- 8:12Speaker 1: as well. What are you hoping to see from him?
- 8:16Speaker 3: A continuation of what was seen to this point. I mean,
- 8:19Speaker 3: I mean everything you've said is a pretty accurate description
- 8:22Speaker 3: of what he's shown us so far. Now, you know,
- 8:24Speaker 3: most of it has been the preseason, and preseason is
- 8:27Speaker 3: the preseason. I mean this just to give you an
- 8:31Speaker 3: idea how little preseason means. The Giants were undefeated this preseason,
- 8:35Speaker 3: so so that'll tell you how much you can really
- 8:39Speaker 3: gain from watching the preseason or making long term evaluations.
- 8:43Speaker 3: But you know, when he did get to play a
- 8:44Speaker 3: little bit regular season last year, he looked kind of
- 8:47Speaker 3: the same. You know, he's out there playing against the
- 8:50Speaker 3: other team's regulars for the most part, and playing regular
- 8:54Speaker 3: season games as opposed to preseason. He still looked very composed,
- 8:59Speaker 3: very inc control of the situation. You know, he's certainly
- 9:03Speaker 3: a different kind of quarterback than Hurts. He certainly doesn't
- 9:06Speaker 3: represent the kind of mobility and move around and make
- 9:10Speaker 3: plays and off script kind of qualities that Hurts has.
- 9:14Speaker 3: I mean, he's more of your classic stand in the
- 9:17Speaker 3: pocket and deliver the football guy. But he he makes
- 9:21Speaker 3: good decisions with the ball, and he's got he's going
- 9:24Speaker 3: all the way back to his college. You saw him
- 9:25Speaker 3: play at Stanford. You know, he has a big, accurate arm,
- 9:30Speaker 3: and you know the only thing I'm looking for is
- 9:32Speaker 3: if he can go out and play the way he's
- 9:34Speaker 3: played up till now. I mean that's and re establish
- 9:38Speaker 3: to everybody, including the organization, that, yeah, I mean, this
- 9:43Speaker 3: guy is a viable number two. You know that we're
- 9:47Speaker 3: good here. You know we don't have to worry about
- 9:49Speaker 3: finding another backup quarterback, that that this guy is better
- 9:53Speaker 3: than the practice squad, and he's he's a viable number
- 9:56Speaker 3: two in case anything happens to hurt. So that's what
- 9:59Speaker 3: I'm kind of looking for it, And to be honest
- 10:00Speaker 3: with you, that's kind of what I expect. I don't think,
- 10:03Speaker 3: you know, I don't think what he's shown us to
- 10:05Speaker 3: this point, even in a smaller sample, is any kind
- 10:09Speaker 3: of a fluke or an illusion. I mean, I think
- 10:11Speaker 3: he's I think he's really good. I think he can
- 10:13Speaker 3: play in the NFL. He's shown that before, and I
- 10:16Speaker 3: expect him to show it again on Sunday.
- 10:18Speaker 1: What do you think about Tank? I'm kind of excited
- 10:20Speaker 1: to see him in an extensive role. Every time he
- 10:22Speaker 1: gets in there, he's picking up seven, eight, nine, twelve
- 10:25Speaker 1: yards a carry, legs keeps churning, great lower body strength,
- 10:31Speaker 1: and obviously you know, you need somebody like that to
- 10:34Speaker 1: compliment your your premiere, your back, your feature.
- 10:37Speaker 3: Back, right. Yeah. I mean as the season went on
- 10:42Speaker 3: and he was getting more carries, Yeah, I mean, everybody
- 10:46Speaker 3: kind of said, wow, look at this, you know. I
- 10:47Speaker 3: mean early in the season he was kind of limited
- 10:50Speaker 3: to special teams in kick return and that certainly didn't
- 10:52Speaker 3: seem to be his forte. But once they began letting
- 10:56Speaker 3: him work into the regular offense and spell Barkley, he
- 11:00Speaker 3: played pretty good. I mean he you know, he had
- 11:02Speaker 3: at least one one hundred yard game coming off the bench. Yeah,
- 11:06Speaker 3: you know, he runs hard, he hits the hole fast.
- 11:10Speaker 3: He's a little bit of a different kind of runner
- 11:12Speaker 3: than Barkley, but he's been very productive and he has
- 11:15Speaker 3: a good opportunity for him to go out there and
- 11:19Speaker 3: carry the load. And I'm sure Shipley will get his
- 11:21Speaker 3: carriages too, and you know, and hurts and Barkley will
- 11:26Speaker 3: just sit this one out. But you know, I think
- 11:28Speaker 3: you're probably a lot of people thinking what you're thinking. Okay,
- 11:31Speaker 3: I wasn't really expecting this, but okay, I'm okay with
- 11:35Speaker 3: seeing Maura McKee, I'm okay with see mouron Bigsby because
- 11:38Speaker 3: you know, what we've seen in them to this point
- 11:40Speaker 3: has been pretty impressive.
- 11:42Speaker 1: You know, with the backups playing, do you anticipate Sirianni
- 11:46Speaker 1: and Patullo maybe trying some different things, uh, schematic schemes, formations,
- 11:53Speaker 1: things of that neighbor nature. Do you think to keep
- 11:55Speaker 1: it pretty close to the vest and that trying to
- 11:57Speaker 1: give away too much more than they have already this season?
- 12:01Speaker 3: Yeah, I mean I would expect them to keep the
- 12:04Speaker 3: offense pretty simple with you know, if you're playing these guys,
- 12:09Speaker 3: I wouldn't think you'd come out and run a whole
- 12:13Speaker 3: lot of trick plays or razzle dazzle or something. I
- 12:16Speaker 3: think the idea is just to go out and execute
- 12:20Speaker 3: the basic offense. You know, some of it isn't necessarily
- 12:22Speaker 3: even the guys that are handling the ball. Some of
- 12:24Speaker 3: that's what you're asking the guys upfront to do, you know,
- 12:27Speaker 3: and if every time you run one of those, you know,
- 12:30Speaker 3: a jet sweep kind of play or you know, end
- 12:34Speaker 3: around kind of play, it's not just the guys that
- 12:36Speaker 3: are handling the ball. It's a timing issue with the
- 12:38Speaker 3: guys up front. And if you're playing a lot of
- 12:40Speaker 3: backup guys, up there. That could pose problems too, I
- 12:43Speaker 3: think probably. Now Again, look I was wrong. I was
- 12:46Speaker 3: wrong from the jump because I thought they were going
- 12:48Speaker 3: to play the guys. Yeah, okay, so I hesitate to predict.
- 12:52Speaker 3: But if I were to predict, which you've just asked
- 12:54Speaker 3: me to do, I wouldn't expect that they're going to
- 12:57Speaker 3: go too deep into the playbook. I think they're going
- 12:59Speaker 3: to run a pretty basic stuff.
- 13:00Speaker 1: Can't same could be said for Vic Fangio on the
- 13:03Speaker 1: defensive flat Washington starting Jess Johnson. We saw him a
- 13:07Speaker 1: few weeks ago. You know, the guy's been in the
- 13:10Speaker 1: league for one hundred and twenty years, but nothing special.
- 13:13Speaker 1: I would imagine you're going to see like the Sydney Browns,
- 13:16Speaker 1: a Khilley Ringos, guys like that. Would you imagine would
- 13:19Speaker 1: you expect Fangio to also keep it pretty vanilla, not
- 13:22Speaker 1: to give too much away with a more important game
- 13:24Speaker 1: coming up?
- 13:25Speaker 3: Yeah, I would think so, Yeah, I would. I would
- 13:28Speaker 3: think that that's going to be the approach. You know,
- 13:31Speaker 3: vinc is Us pretty much a meat and potatoes kind
- 13:34Speaker 3: of coach too.
- 13:35Speaker 1: Yeah, he doesn't.
- 13:36Speaker 3: He doesn't go in for a whole lot of exotic stuff.
- 13:41Speaker 3: I mean, he's he's about the basics. You know, he's
- 13:44Speaker 3: about playing assignment football and tackling well. And that's what
- 13:48Speaker 3: I think he's going to ask of his guys this week.
- 13:51Speaker 3: I wouldn't, you know, I wouldn't expect to them to
- 13:53Speaker 3: try and bring to Kobe Dean back. You know, I give
- 13:56Speaker 3: him another week and get him ready for the playoffs.
- 13:58Speaker 3: So you're probably going to see a whole lot of
- 14:00Speaker 3: Hot Campbell're probably gonna see a whole lot of Jeremiah
- 14:03Speaker 3: Trotter Junior. I mean, you're gonna see a lot of
- 14:05Speaker 3: those guys. And you know, I'd say Ringo is probably
- 14:07Speaker 3: one of those guys too. Give him a chance to
- 14:10Speaker 3: you know, Ringo has been has been a very good
- 14:12Speaker 3: special teams player.
- 14:13Speaker 1: Yes, I know he has not.
- 14:16Speaker 3: You know, he hasn't really staked his claim to a
- 14:19Speaker 3: spot in the secondary. I mean, if they've tried him
- 14:21Speaker 3: and it hasn't gone well, but he's a good special
- 14:24Speaker 3: teams player. Uh and uh. I honestly kind of say
- 14:28Speaker 3: the same thing about Sidney Brown. You know, I mean,
- 14:30Speaker 3: neither one of them has has laid claims to a
- 14:33Speaker 3: position in the secondary because the chances to play that
- 14:36Speaker 3: been sort of spotty, let's put it. Let's be fair
- 14:40Speaker 3: about it. Yeah. But the two of them, man, I
- 14:43Speaker 3: mean there are two. There are two of the more
- 14:45Speaker 3: aggressive gunners in the league with special teams. I mean,
- 14:48Speaker 3: they're earning their pay there. Uh And I get you'll,
- 14:50Speaker 3: I guess you'll probably get to see them, uh play
- 14:54Speaker 3: play the secondary Sunday, and I'm kind of curious to
- 14:56Speaker 3: see how they're going. I'm you know, it's a big
- 14:59Speaker 3: sitting Brown fan. When he came into Illinois, I mean
- 15:02Speaker 3: I saw him play all out there, and I liked
- 15:04Speaker 3: his game a lot. I liked his aggressiveness he had,
- 15:09Speaker 3: He had a nose for the ball, which you like
- 15:11Speaker 3: to have a safety have. And he plays, you know,
- 15:14Speaker 3: one hundred and twenty miles an hour, sometimes to a fault.
- 15:19Speaker 3: But I like his aggressiveness and I like what he
- 15:21Speaker 3: brings to the game. And you know, you look at Ringo,
- 15:26Speaker 3: I mean, here's here's the perfect prototype of a cornerback.
- 15:30Speaker 3: I mean speed, I mean all the stuff that you
- 15:34Speaker 3: that you measure and say, Okay, here's what you want
- 15:37Speaker 3: your cornerback to be. He's it. Uh, and so far
- 15:42Speaker 3: he hasn't shown it. He has he hasn't shown it
- 15:46Speaker 3: on a consistent enough basis to earn the confidence of
- 15:50Speaker 3: the coaches. But I'm still not you know, I'm still
- 15:52Speaker 3: not prepared to write them off. I mean, I think
- 15:54Speaker 3: there's too much talent there to do that. And you know,
- 15:58Speaker 3: he'll get He'll get another opportunity. I mean, I'm sure
- 16:00Speaker 3: he'll play every snap this week, and you know, maybe
- 16:03Speaker 3: show the coaches, give them some kind of an idea that,
- 16:06Speaker 3: you know what, moving into next year, you know, maybe
- 16:08Speaker 3: this kid really is ready to compete for a starting job.
- 16:11Speaker 4: Hey, it's that time of the year that everyone's trying
- 16:13Speaker 4: to clean up their habits and that includes me. Honestly,
- 16:16Speaker 4: having one less drink never felt easier. Instead of pouring
- 16:20Speaker 4: a cocktail, I just reach for souls out of office drinks.
- 16:24Speaker 4: It's the same relaxing vibe, but zero alcohol, zero hangover.
- 16:28Speaker 4: I still wake up feeling like a functional adult. I
- 16:31Speaker 4: can get to the gym, I can do whatever I
- 16:33Speaker 4: have to do throughout the day without feeling worn down
- 16:36Speaker 4: or dragged down.
- 16:36Speaker 5: That alcohol can make you feel soul. What I appreciate

- 19:38Speaker 1: If there's one thing that I'm preaching to my players,
- 19:42Speaker 1: if I'm Nick Sirianni, who's ever on the field, is
- 19:44Speaker 1: keep your head on a swivel at all times. I've
- 19:47Speaker 1: been looking at reports coming out of Washington, and Dan
- 19:49Speaker 1: Quinn says they're coming here to win this game. Obviously,
- 19:53Speaker 1: they still remember what happened a couple of weeks ago,
- 19:55Speaker 1: so I would expect the extracurricular.
- 19:57Speaker 3: Activity to ramp up just a bit in this game. Oh,
- 20:00Speaker 3: I think there's gonna be a lot of after the
- 20:01Speaker 3: whistle stuff. I do, I do. I mean, it started,
- 20:06Speaker 3: it started at the moment and that last game when
- 20:09Speaker 3: they when they when they went for the two. I mean,
- 20:11Speaker 3: they're pushing and shoving it, and you know all that started.
- 20:14Speaker 3: The jawn started right then, so they haven't forgotten. And
- 20:18Speaker 3: I'm sure dan Quinn, you know, he's that kind of coach.
- 20:22Speaker 3: He's sort of out of that, you know, Dan Campbell, rough,
- 20:25Speaker 3: rough and ready, I take everything personally his style, and
- 20:31Speaker 3: I'm sure that he's been preaching that all week with
- 20:33Speaker 3: these guys. And this has been a bitterly, bitterly disappointing
- 20:38Speaker 3: season in Washington. I mean, there's a team that played
- 20:41Speaker 3: in the conference championship game last year and they've they've
- 20:45Speaker 3: been out of it since mid season, really and okay,
- 20:49Speaker 3: it's the season's gotten away from them. But I think
- 20:52Speaker 3: that the message that Dan Dan dan Quinn has been
- 20:57Speaker 3: preaching to his team all week is let's not go
- 20:58Speaker 3: out on this note. We all know the season hasn't
- 21:02Speaker 3: been anything close to what we hoped it was going
- 21:04Speaker 3: to be, but let's not end it this way. Okay,
- 21:07Speaker 3: Let's go out and play like we know we're capable
- 21:10Speaker 3: of playing, and win a game and go into the offseason,
- 21:13Speaker 3: maybe send a message to the rest of the league
- 21:14Speaker 3: that you know that you'll be hearing from us next year.
- 21:19Speaker 3: This wasn't our year, but we'll be back next year.
- 21:21Speaker 3: I definitely think that's the message that they're sending.
- 21:24Speaker 1: Now.
- 21:24Speaker 3: Does he have the horses to make that work? I
- 21:27Speaker 3: don't know, But in terms of the attitude that they're
- 21:30Speaker 3: going to have coming out of the tunnel on Sunday, No,
- 21:33Speaker 3: I think they're coming in here to win the game.
- 21:34Speaker 3: I really did you all right?
- 21:36Speaker 1: My next and final question to you, it's it's difficult
- 21:39Speaker 1: a question to answer as it is like the first one, two,
- 21:43Speaker 1: three or three weeks of the season, because you just
- 21:45Speaker 1: don't know. Is your score and prediction for this game? No?
- 21:51Speaker 3: I you know, given given the situation at Washington finds
- 21:56Speaker 3: itself in and playing with Josh Johnson, who we've seen
- 22:01Speaker 3: over time. I even though the US aren't going to
- 22:05Speaker 3: be playing all their starters on defense, I don't see
- 22:07Speaker 3: how Washington's gonna score very much. I don't know, I
- 22:11Speaker 3: would say, And I don't know the Eagles gonna score
- 22:15Speaker 3: a ton either, But I do think they're gonna win
- 22:18Speaker 3: the game. And I'm gonna say I'm gonna go on
- 22:22Speaker 3: the conservative side here. I'm gonna say, twenty one to
- 22:25Speaker 3: nine Eagles.
- 22:26Speaker 1: Twenty one. I'm gonna go twenty to seventeen Eagles. You're right,
- 22:32Speaker 1: I don't think there's gonna be a lot of scoring
- 22:34Speaker 1: in this game. I think the most entertaining aspect of
- 22:36Speaker 1: this game could be to pushing and shoving after the
- 22:40Speaker 1: whistles of this game more so than anything else. And
- 22:42Speaker 1: you really won't be able to evaluate where this Eagles
- 22:46Speaker 1: team is as they get ready for their first round
- 22:48Speaker 1: playoff game. But I do think they're at home it's
- 22:50Speaker 1: last game of the season. You now fired up, Nick
- 22:53Speaker 1: Sirianni gets You know, dan Quinn's coming in here with
- 22:55Speaker 1: his team with that proverbial chip on their shoulders. But
- 22:58Speaker 1: you're right with Josh Johnson quarterbacking this team, and I
- 23:01Speaker 1: do believe he will still have enough upfront in terms
- 23:03Speaker 1: of backups to get enough pass rush on Josh Johnson
- 23:06Speaker 1: to keep him uncomfortable. I'm gonna go twenty to seventeen
- 23:10Speaker 1: Birds win their last game of the season, and then
- 23:12Speaker 1: we hope and we pray that the Detroit Lions show
- 23:15Speaker 1: up in Chicago and knock off the Bears for us. Yeah,
- 23:19Speaker 1: all right, you.
- 23:20Speaker 3: Know what, I don't think that's impossible.
- 23:23Speaker 1: I don't either, to be honest, I mean.
- 23:24Speaker 3: I don't think that's impossible. I think I think the
- 23:27Speaker 3: Detroit lines interesting, the Detroit Lions in Washington are verty
- 23:30Speaker 3: similar situations. Yeah, I mean, two teams that were really
- 23:33Speaker 3: good last year and came into this season with high,
- 23:37Speaker 3: high expectations and just watch them melt away, you know,
- 23:41Speaker 3: and now final game, final chance to make a statement.
- 23:45Speaker 3: And two head coaches who like these kinds of things,
- 23:49Speaker 3: you know, who like to preach this, get tough. We're
- 23:51Speaker 3: going to show you who the tough team is, you know.
- 23:55Speaker 3: I think that's the message that Quinn's been delivering in Washington,
- 23:58Speaker 3: and I think it's been the same thing with Dan
- 24:01Speaker 3: Campbell in Detroit. And it would it really would not
- 24:05Speaker 3: shock me if to see Detroit upset the Bears. It
- 24:08Speaker 3: really would.
- 24:09Speaker 1: The only thing with Detroit is they're in a similar
- 24:11Speaker 1: situation as they were a year ago. They were mowing
- 24:14Speaker 1: over people early in this season, all of a sudden,
- 24:16Speaker 1: injuries just piled up on that team and they are
- 24:19Speaker 1: an injury riddle team right now. And then of course
- 24:22Speaker 1: it's going to be cold at Chicago and you're taking
- 24:24Speaker 1: a Dome team and ask them to play outside but outside.
- 24:27Speaker 1: But Chicago's defense is not a lockdown defense except when
- 24:31Speaker 1: they came here and played against Philadelphia. But I think
- 24:36Speaker 1: Detroit still has enough offensive firepower to do damage with
- 24:40Speaker 1: the running backs and wide receiving, of course the quarterback.
- 24:42Speaker 1: And I think it all depends on the wind. It
- 24:44Speaker 1: could be depending on the win factor also in Chicago
- 24:46Speaker 1: comes Sunday as well. But again keep your toes and
- 24:49Speaker 1: your fingers crossed and hopeful a Detroit upset to help
- 24:53Speaker 1: the Eagles out if, of course, if the Eagles get
- 24:55Speaker 1: this all important w on Sunday, all right, that's gonna
- 24:58Speaker 1: wrap up this edition of Birds a Week presented by
- 25:00Speaker 1: the Inside the Birds Network for all of us here
- 25:04Speaker 1: a happy new year, prosperous and healthy twenty twenty six,
- 25:08Speaker 1: and to you as well, my friend, for you and
- 25:10Speaker 1: your beautiful family, Happy new year and all the best
- 25:12Speaker 1: to you.
- 25:13Speaker 3: Same to you, Derek. It's been a real pleasure, really
- 25:15Speaker 3: enjoyed it and looking forward looking forward to the real season.
- 25:20Speaker 1: There you go, all right, Ray, take care so long everybody,
