- 0:00Speaker 1: What's going on, everybody. It's Jeff here. I wanted to
- 0:02Speaker 1: let you know we recorded this podcast episode on Tuesday,
- 0:05Speaker 1: September tenth, twenty twenty four, so by the time you
- 0:08Speaker 1: hear this, some things may have changed here or there,
- 0:10Speaker 1: but we hope you enjoy the show. Welcome to the
- 0:46Speaker 1: Philadelphia Sports Table podcast show, the longest running weekly Philly
- 0:49Speaker 1: sports podcast show in the world, eleven years strong. We
- 0:52Speaker 1: got a great show coming your way this week. The
- 0:55Speaker 1: Philadelphia Phillies. We certainly got to get into them, and
- 0:58Speaker 1: we will be getting to them right off the that
- 1:00Speaker 1: the injury bug has hit this team, and also the
- 1:03Speaker 1: rotation carousel is continuing with this Phillies team. The Philadelphia
- 1:09Speaker 1: Union Boy, they're looking for some answers as the end
- 1:11Speaker 1: of the season approaches. We're gonna be talking about this
- 1:13Speaker 1: team of what fortunes lie ahead for them. And then
- 1:15Speaker 1: the Flyers rookie camp that's gonna kick off this week.
- 1:18Speaker 1: We're certainly gonna get into some talk there, and then
- 1:21Speaker 1: we've got some Eagles Falcons talk before the Monday night
- 1:24Speaker 1: game and what we're thrown down on the table this week.
- 1:27Speaker 1: We've got John Bueler from Fans Sided he's gonna be
- 1:29Speaker 1: joining us to break down what we've been seeing early
- 1:32Speaker 1: within this college football season. I am Jeff Warren. I'm here,
- 1:35Speaker 1: my good buddy, Lenn Hunsicker. I know you're a little tired, Lend,
- 1:38Speaker 1: but other than that, how you doing, buddy?
- 1:40Speaker 2: I'm doing good. Yeah, just I was watching the Phills
- 1:43Speaker 2: earlier and do a show here and yeah. So they're
- 1:48Speaker 2: in the midst of an interesting stretch. Lost a couple
- 1:51Speaker 2: of bad games in the Marlins there and now they're
- 1:54Speaker 2: currently had an exciting game last night against Tapa, and
- 1:58Speaker 2: I believe they're up. They're up last night when I
- 2:00Speaker 2: came up to do the show, they're up four to three.
- 2:02Speaker 1: So absolutely, yeah. I mean, why don't we just start
- 2:04Speaker 1: getting into some Phills talk right off the bat like
- 2:06Speaker 1: we have on our agenda here. Like I said, Lend,
- 2:09Speaker 1: the injury bug has really hit this team and it
- 2:12Speaker 1: kind of stinks the fact that JT. Real Muto, yet
- 2:15Speaker 1: again is injured. Alec Bohm mister consistency throughout this season.
- 2:20Speaker 1: He's had a left hand strain, and Austin Hayes he's
- 2:23Speaker 1: had a kidney infection, which has kept him out of
- 2:26Speaker 1: the line up at Mundo as well, and I.
- 2:30Speaker 2: Saw it's exactly what he happened there.
- 2:34Speaker 1: Exactly Edmundo Susa Susa. Sosa has been having some backspasms
- 2:39Speaker 1: as well. We're getting to that point in the season,
- 2:41Speaker 1: Lend where injuries here, I mean, while not necessarily the
- 2:46Speaker 1: most damning to this team, but you know you feel
- 2:49Speaker 1: the effects, especially with a guy like like I said,
- 2:51Speaker 1: mister consistency throughout this season, Alec Bohm, when he's not
- 2:54Speaker 1: in the lineup, you know you miss that consistency with
- 2:57Speaker 1: this team. Because Bryce Harper hasn't hit a home run
- 2:59Speaker 1: in a month. He's certainly from a power perspective, not
- 3:02Speaker 1: getting it done. You need consistency, like Alec Bowman, they
- 3:05Speaker 1: just don't have it at this point.
- 3:07Speaker 2: Well, and to top all of that off, I don't
- 3:10Speaker 2: know if you had been watching the game tonight, but
- 3:13Speaker 2: Kyle Schwarber, who has been hands down their hottest hitter,
- 3:18Speaker 2: was on first base, Trey Turner was up. I guess
- 3:21Speaker 2: it was a pickof Attempee slid back into first and
- 3:24Speaker 2: then Turner hit a home run. But then Schwarber's next
- 3:27Speaker 2: time through the order he was pinch hit for with
- 3:31Speaker 2: Buddy Kennedy, so that makes you wonder what happened to Schwarber,
- 3:35Speaker 2: because man, you want to talk about a guy that
- 3:37Speaker 2: they can't afford to lose as hot as he is
- 3:39Speaker 2: right now, that would be I mean hopefully if it
- 3:42Speaker 2: was it was like, you know, a couple of days,
- 3:44Speaker 2: but man, anything beyond that would be really a big
- 3:48Speaker 2: blow to this offense.
- 3:49Speaker 1: It really, it really would, because I mean they need
- 3:51Speaker 1: offensive consistency right now. Like you said, Schwarber, as we know,
- 3:55Speaker 1: you know he's been he's been the hottest guy BOM
- 3:58Speaker 1: with his consistency throughout this season as well. It's been
- 4:01Speaker 1: good to see what Trey Turner has been able to
- 4:04Speaker 1: do since the All Star break. But I guess that
- 4:07Speaker 1: leads us to Bryce Harper here, and I don't know,
- 4:10Speaker 1: are you concerned about the fact that Harper just hasn't
- 4:13Speaker 1: been able to take that power to the next level
- 4:16Speaker 1: at this point in the season. I mean, we're we're
- 4:18Speaker 1: almost at mid September here, lenn and he's not hitting
- 4:22Speaker 1: home runs. I mean, that's that's part of his bread
- 4:23Speaker 1: and butter and what he has done for this offense.
- 4:25Speaker 1: Like I'm getting a little worried about it.
- 4:28Speaker 2: It's I mean, especially with this time of year. Yeah,
- 4:31Speaker 2: you know the weather, you know, the weather being warmer.
- 4:34Speaker 2: I mean it's kind of cool down a little bit,
- 4:36Speaker 2: but you know, you get it in those July August
- 4:38Speaker 2: September months and you know what Charlie Man and we
- 4:41Speaker 2: used to call hitting season. And then you're kind of like,
- 4:43Speaker 2: all right, well, you know, where's the power because you
- 4:46Speaker 2: know it's hotter out that the balls traveling better, and
- 4:49Speaker 2: you just anticipate more, you know, more power.
- 4:52Speaker 1: Yeah, and it.
- 4:52Speaker 2: Hasn't been for harpery. It's manifested in the form of doubles.
- 4:56Speaker 2: You know. Right before I went up to bed, he
- 4:58Speaker 2: had what looked like a home called back to the
- 5:01Speaker 2: fan interference. I guess fan leaned over the fence and
- 5:04Speaker 2: ended up being like a ground world double for him. So,
- 5:07Speaker 2: I mean, it's it's there, but it's just not there
- 5:10Speaker 2: enough that you know, he's he's putting balls over the fence.
- 5:14Speaker 2: So I you know, I don't know what's happening right now.
- 5:16Speaker 2: I don't know if it's one of those things where Okay,
- 5:19Speaker 2: this time of year, everybody's got nagging injuries and maybe
- 5:23Speaker 2: there's something with Harper that we don't know about.
- 5:25Speaker 1: Who knows Yeah, that is true, because he does like
- 5:28Speaker 1: to keep his uh, he does like to keep his
- 5:30Speaker 1: injuries to himself, as we know, you know, I mean,
- 5:33Speaker 1: he'll uh, he'll uh. I guess. Let the Phillies front
- 5:37Speaker 1: office brats and the the the managers there know every
- 5:41Speaker 1: now and then. But it's uh, I don't know. I'm
- 5:45Speaker 1: concerned about it. I'm concerned about whether or not Bryce
- 5:47Speaker 1: Harper because I thought two weeks ago, I'm like, Okay,
- 5:49Speaker 1: he's been a little slump with the home runs. You know,
- 5:51Speaker 1: now is the time. Now is the time where he's
- 5:54Speaker 1: going to be able to, you know, get back to form.
- 5:56Speaker 1: We just haven't seen it yet, And I don't know.
- 5:59Speaker 1: I guess that leads a to the next part of
- 6:00Speaker 1: the discussion with the Phillies Len the fact that we're
- 6:03Speaker 1: not having this offensive consistency like we saw the first
- 6:07Speaker 1: half of the season, and then we continue to see
- 6:11Speaker 1: this rotation, the starting rotation carousel. I mean it continued.
- 6:16Speaker 1: I mean this past week the debut of Seth Johnson,
- 6:19Speaker 1: My goodness, that was an utter and complete disaster. But
- 6:23Speaker 1: you know, the injuries to the starting pitching staff have
- 6:25Speaker 1: really hurt. They've hurt during the second half of the
- 6:28Speaker 1: season here, and the Phillies I think are at this point,
- 6:31Speaker 1: are they like eighty five and fifty eight? I actually,
- 6:33Speaker 1: I think that they're somewhere around there. I think as
- 6:38Speaker 1: of us recording this and eighty six and fifty eight,
- 6:43Speaker 1: I'm sorry again. Yeah, so I don't know the pitching
- 6:46Speaker 1: carousel here. I feel like like the sky's not falling
- 6:51Speaker 1: by any stretch of the imagination. But I feel like
- 6:53Speaker 1: this team needs stability, you know what I mean.
- 6:56Speaker 2: Well, you got you know, I mean, you got guys
- 6:59Speaker 2: that need to kind of round into for them a
- 7:01Speaker 2: little bit more, but you've got your core for like,
- 7:03Speaker 2: and once you go into playoffs, you know, you you
- 7:07Speaker 2: pair it down to a four man rotation anyway. And
- 7:10Speaker 2: let's let's face it, those four guys, we know who
- 7:13Speaker 2: they are. Barring an injury, it's gonna be you know, Wheeler, Nola,
- 7:18Speaker 2: Suarez and Sanchez those your four guys, hands down. You
- 7:22Speaker 2: know again, God forbid, you know there's an injury, but
- 7:25Speaker 2: you know that's who it's going to be. So as
- 7:28Speaker 2: long as those guys are consistent and pitching, well, I mean, yeah,
- 7:32Speaker 2: you do have to, you know, play that game for
- 7:34Speaker 2: the for the rest of the regular season, where you
- 7:36Speaker 2: know who's the fifth starter and all that stuff, and
- 7:39Speaker 2: you know, obviously Taiwan Walker's had a really rough year,
- 7:42Speaker 2: and you know guys that they've plugged and Seth Johnson
- 7:47Speaker 2: couldn't find the plate the other night, So I yeah,
- 7:50Speaker 2: it's it's been tough. I mean, I'm going to know,
- 7:53Speaker 2: Colby Howard's been in there a little bit, and you know,
- 7:55Speaker 2: you've been had some Tyler Phillips in there, and it's
- 7:58Speaker 2: so it's kind of mixing match. But yeah, I mean
- 8:01Speaker 2: I think they're just trying to get by until he
- 8:05Speaker 2: e's the playoffs and you have those four guys.
- 8:07Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely. I read a stat on Phillies Nation dot com.
- 8:11Speaker 1: You know, we love Tim Kelly and Destiny Legardo, the
- 8:14Speaker 1: writers over there. They pointed out that the Philly starters
- 8:20Speaker 1: and the number five spot have combined to allow for
- 8:23Speaker 1: twenty one earned run since Allard's demotion back on August
- 8:27Speaker 1: twenty sixth. August twenty sixth, so in four Big league
- 8:31Speaker 1: outings this season, Allard has actually had a three point
- 8:35Speaker 1: five zero eer. But man, that number five spot allowing
- 8:39Speaker 1: twenty one to earn run since his demotion. That hurts man,
- 8:43Speaker 1: that really really hurts this team when the offense isn't clicking.
- 8:48Speaker 2: Well, yeah, and that's a big thing. I mean the
- 8:50Speaker 2: beginning of the season, you know, when everybody had seemed
- 8:54Speaker 2: like was giving you seven good innings every night, yep,
- 8:56Speaker 2: and the offense is clicking, that's one thing. But yeah,
- 8:58Speaker 2: I mean that stuff gets magde when the offense isn't
- 9:01Speaker 2: hitting as well and stuff like that, and you do wonder, Okay,
- 9:05Speaker 2: who is that fifth guy going to be? And especially
- 9:09Speaker 2: you know, as you go through the season and Suarez
- 9:11Speaker 2: is banged up a little bit and you know, guys
- 9:13Speaker 2: get hurt and then so now you're filling in two
- 9:15Speaker 2: spots instead of one. That you know, that happens, and
- 9:18Speaker 2: it happens to every team. I mean, you know, there's
- 9:22Speaker 2: very very few teams out there that ever are like, Okay,
- 9:25Speaker 2: we got five guys, and we're confident in all five
- 9:28Speaker 2: of them, you know, every time out. I mean, that's
- 9:30Speaker 2: just it's a rarity. So I mean, I think the
- 9:32Speaker 2: Phillies are in a in a pretty decent spot with
- 9:37Speaker 2: what they have, as long as those guys are you know, consistent,
- 9:39Speaker 2: you know. But yeah, I mean, you're you're just kind
- 9:42Speaker 2: of trying to, you know, get through this last month
- 9:45Speaker 2: of the season, and you know, then you got your
- 9:48Speaker 2: four and you can kind of figure out your bullpen
- 9:49Speaker 2: at that point as well.
- 9:50Speaker 1: Yeah, it's interesting how you use that word decent. They're
- 9:53Speaker 1: in a quote decent spot, but just a few months
- 9:57Speaker 1: ago we were saying they're in a really good spot.
- 9:59Speaker 1: Like we've gone from there in a really good spot
- 10:01Speaker 1: to a decent spot. And that's what we're seeing now though,
- 10:04Speaker 1: you know. And it's just the confidence level I think
- 10:07Speaker 1: with the fan base. I don't know, Maybe it's just me, man,
- 10:10Speaker 1: Maybe it's just me. I just I'm not just feeling
- 10:13Speaker 1: as confident as we're heading into, you know, toward mid
- 10:16Speaker 1: end of September here with this team. I mean, when
- 10:19Speaker 1: when they're have trouble, they're having trouble with the Marlins
- 10:22Speaker 1: and split a series with them, Like, yes, they're decent,
- 10:25Speaker 1: they're decent, but man, I want more than decent at
- 10:28Speaker 1: this point, I really do.
- 10:29Speaker 3: Well.
- 10:30Speaker 2: And here's the thing. So, first thing with the Marlins,
- 10:33Speaker 2: I don't have the numbers in front of me to
- 10:36Speaker 2: you know, back it up or whatever, but it just
- 10:38Speaker 2: to me, it feels like as long as those two
- 10:41Speaker 2: teams have been playing each other it you know, it
- 10:44Speaker 2: feels like the Marlins have always, no matter how good
- 10:47Speaker 2: one team or how bad the other team is, the Marlins,
- 10:50Speaker 2: for whatever reason, even when they're fielding a quad a team, yeah,
- 10:54Speaker 2: always seem to give the Phillies trouble. And I don't
- 10:57Speaker 2: know why that is, but and it might not be
- 11:00Speaker 2: the stats might not even bear that out, but it
- 11:02Speaker 2: just feels that way with that team. I'll never understand it.
- 11:05Speaker 2: You know, a couple of weeks ago, I think this,
- 11:07Speaker 2: you know, the maybe the kind of the sky is
- 11:10Speaker 2: falling thing was maybe a little bit more warranted when
- 11:13Speaker 2: they were in that that really brutal stretch. You know,
- 11:15Speaker 2: coming out of the All Star break, they have found
- 11:18Speaker 2: their footing a little bit. I know, at one point
- 11:19Speaker 2: they had won eight out of ten, you know, you know,
- 11:22Speaker 2: coming in and I think the last two games of
- 11:24Speaker 2: that Marlin series, so you know, they have been a
- 11:27Speaker 2: little bit more steady, found their footing a little bit,
- 11:29Speaker 2: you know, and all that. So, I mean, they're in
- 11:32Speaker 2: a better place than they were a couple of weeks ago.
- 11:34Speaker 2: We can at least, you know, admit.
- 11:35Speaker 1: That absolutely absolutely all right, But did you have anything
- 11:38Speaker 1: else for the Phillies. You want to get into here
- 11:40Speaker 1: before we get onto the next topic and the next
- 11:42Speaker 1: team here.
- 11:44Speaker 2: No, just good health and hitting. I mean some of
- 11:48Speaker 2: these guys, you know, Harper obviously first and foremost, but
- 11:51Speaker 2: you know, you've had certain guys all year. Bryson Stott
- 11:54Speaker 2: has not had the year that I think a lot
- 11:56Speaker 2: of people thought that he would. You know, you've got
- 11:59Speaker 2: guys that just need to step it up, especially if
- 12:01Speaker 2: there's going to be you know, guys that are out
- 12:03Speaker 2: for a while, there's gonna have to be some guys
- 12:06Speaker 2: that are that are you know, picking it up.
- 12:08Speaker 1: Yep, absolutely all right, let us know what you're thinking
- 12:11Speaker 1: about this team. We'd love to hear from you, Philadelphia
- 12:13Speaker 1: Sports Table at gmail dot com. We'd love to read
- 12:15Speaker 1: your email here on the show and respond to it.
- 12:17Speaker 1: But next, we want to get into a Philadelphia team
- 12:20Speaker 1: that it has been quite disappointing this season, even though
- 12:24Speaker 1: they won their last match the Philadelphia Union. At this
- 12:29Speaker 1: point in the season, Lend, they are still looking for
- 12:31Speaker 1: answers as the end of the season approaches, and you
- 12:36Speaker 1: know it begs the question should we already be looking
- 12:39Speaker 1: towards the off season here with regard to this team,
- 12:42Speaker 1: because look, they're scheduled the rest of the way. I mean,
- 12:47Speaker 1: outside of DC United, every team that they're going to
- 12:51Speaker 1: be facing, whether it's Inner Miami, Cincinnati, Columbus, it's not
- 12:56Speaker 1: going to give them any reprive basically for the difficulties
- 12:59Speaker 1: that this Union team is facing already and potentially missing
- 13:03Speaker 1: the playoffs for the first time since twenty seventeen. So,
- 13:08Speaker 1: I don't know. They had a recent win approximately what
- 13:12Speaker 1: about a week ago or so, six days ago, and
- 13:17Speaker 1: it's still it's been such an up and down year
- 13:19Speaker 1: for this team. And I think at this point in
- 13:22Speaker 1: time they are one point back from Atlanta from when
- 13:28Speaker 1: I was reading the standings in terms of really trying
- 13:31Speaker 1: to make the case for that last wild card spot.
- 13:35Speaker 1: I don't know if they're going to get there, but
- 13:37Speaker 1: the schedule doesn't get any easier, buddy.
- 13:40Speaker 2: No, it does not. And you know, and right now
- 13:43Speaker 2: they're at a point where things are tough because of
- 13:47Speaker 2: you know, guys that are on their respective national teams
- 13:50Speaker 2: that have been called up. Yeah, I know, there's been
- 13:52Speaker 2: a bunch of that stuff. You know, you look at
- 13:55Speaker 2: a guy like tyber Ebo, who has been you know,
- 13:58Speaker 2: hands down there their best offensive player over the past
- 14:00Speaker 2: couple of weeks. He has joined Israel for the UEFA
- 14:03Speaker 2: Nations League matches in September. Andre Blake, their goalie, is
- 14:07Speaker 2: back with Jamaica Jesus Buenos with Venezuela guy that they
- 14:11Speaker 2: just brought in, Dan LeJean Jacques has been called up
- 14:15Speaker 2: for Haites Coca CAF League matches. So there's a lot
- 14:19Speaker 2: of stuff that's going on right now with you know,
- 14:23Speaker 2: a team that's not that deep to begin with, right
- 14:27Speaker 2: And it's just like, well, man, all these guys are
- 14:30Speaker 2: and look, you know that Union aren't the only team
- 14:33Speaker 2: this is happening to. I mean every team across you
- 14:36Speaker 2: know MLS that has international players, and they all do,
- 14:40Speaker 2: they're all facing this too. But you know, the Union
- 14:43Speaker 2: wouldn't be in the position that they are in right
- 14:45Speaker 2: now in the standings if they had more depth and
- 14:49Speaker 2: more quality, which they don't, right, So, I mean that's
- 14:53Speaker 2: where they're going to run into problems here, I think
- 14:55Speaker 2: over the next couple of weeks.
- 14:56Speaker 1: So I mean, let's not forget the slow starts to
- 15:00Speaker 1: just about every freaking game this season and how frustrating
- 15:03Speaker 1: it is.
- 15:04Speaker 2: Yeah, and that is just something that has unfortunately been
- 15:07Speaker 2: a fact of life for them this year. But yeah,
- 15:10Speaker 2: I just, uh, I don't understand it. But yeah, a
- 15:14Speaker 2: lot of it, I think, you know, goes back to
- 15:18Speaker 2: you got to spend the money about put a good
- 15:21Speaker 2: team on the field. Uh, and you know, they they
- 15:25Speaker 2: haven't really that they they don't have the horses that
- 15:29Speaker 2: I think a lot of these other teams haven't. That's
- 15:32Speaker 2: a shame because you know, I know that when they
- 15:35Speaker 2: were you know, in their stretch winning that Supporter Shield
- 15:38Speaker 2: Trophy and making to the MLS Cup Final, I mean
- 15:41Speaker 2: there there was there were people talking about the Union
- 15:44Speaker 2: that you know, I hadn't really been talking about them previously.
- 15:48Speaker 2: So I think, you know, like any team in the city,
- 15:51Speaker 2: if if you if you give you give people a
- 15:54Speaker 2: reason to care, they're going to show up. Right now
- 15:57Speaker 2: if you watch any of their matches on TV, even
- 15:59Speaker 2: like the Suns of ben section, it's a little sparse
- 16:03Speaker 2: and it's you know, the enthusiasm for the team is
- 16:06Speaker 2: not there right now.
- 16:07Speaker 1: Yeah, exactly like I mentioned you before, the Unions they
- 16:11Speaker 1: sit just one point behind Atlanta United in the Eastern
- 16:14Speaker 1: Conference in Phillyate Atlanta are two of eight teams battling
- 16:18Speaker 1: for one playoff spot. All that sit within approximately I believe,
- 16:21Speaker 1: like two points of each other here, So every single
- 16:25Speaker 1: point counts for the Union from here on out. Len
- 16:29Speaker 1: And like I said, schedule is not gonna get any easier.
- 16:32Speaker 1: We know that. I think we're kind of seeing the
- 16:34Speaker 1: writing on the wall here with regard to you know,
- 16:37Speaker 1: what's gonna happen with this team. I mean, it's obviously
- 16:40Speaker 1: not gonna surprise anybody if they if they do not
- 16:42Speaker 1: make the playoffs. But again, like you were saying, they're
- 16:45Speaker 1: gonna have to spend money in the playoffs if that
- 16:47Speaker 1: or I'm sorry, the postseason. In the offseason, they're gonna
- 16:50Speaker 1: have to spend money if they really want to see
- 16:52Speaker 1: a change, If they really want to see a change,
- 16:54Speaker 1: they're gonna need to spend some money. And this organization
- 16:58Speaker 1: has not given us the confidence that they're that they
- 17:03Speaker 1: are willing to do that, And I wonder, I wonder
- 17:06Speaker 1: what type of pressure would need to come from the
- 17:08Speaker 1: fans and the fan base in general to actually get
- 17:12Speaker 1: that to happen. I fans have been pressuring I think
- 17:15Speaker 1: ownership to do something like that, and it just just
- 17:18Speaker 1: hasn't happened.
- 17:20Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, if you I mean, and that's the thing,
- 17:23Speaker 2: like you know, you mentioned with the playoff race. I mean,
- 17:26Speaker 2: for as frustrating as this season has been, there, I mean, look,
- 17:29Speaker 2: they're they're you know, it's you're basically playing for the
- 17:32Speaker 2: right to get knocked out in your first game because
- 17:34Speaker 2: you know you're going to be a lower seed you know,
- 17:37Speaker 2: most likely. But you know, for as frustrating as this
- 17:39Speaker 2: season has been, it's still right there. I mean, it's
- 17:42Speaker 2: still within grasp if they you know, if they want
- 17:45Speaker 2: to be a playoff team. It's there for them if
- 17:48Speaker 2: they if they want to do it. But it's just
- 17:49Speaker 2: a matter of getting it done. And you know, with
- 17:52Speaker 2: regard to you know, ownership and stuff like that. Go
- 17:55Speaker 2: if you if you follow the Union on Instagram or
- 17:59Speaker 2: on Twitter, you go on their account after and look
- 18:03Speaker 2: at the comments after losses, and you know, you know,
- 18:07Speaker 2: it's just you know, people you know, railing about Sugarman
- 18:10Speaker 2: and Curtain, which I think is a little you know, tactically, yes,
- 18:15Speaker 2: sometimes he deserves it, but you know, it's a little
- 18:18Speaker 2: unfair when you don't you don't have the players and
- 18:20Speaker 2: other teams do. Yeah, but there's a lot of atriol
- 18:24Speaker 2: among the core base that's still there that are like,
- 18:28Speaker 2: you know, they are like, I don't know if I'm
- 18:30Speaker 2: going to renew Apple TV next year because it's my
- 18:32Speaker 2: main means of watching the Union. I don't know if
- 18:34Speaker 2: I'm going to renew my season tickets. Sugarman out. You
- 18:37Speaker 2: know you won't you read You're going to read this
- 18:39Speaker 2: stuff all the time, as I do whenever I look
- 18:41Speaker 2: at the comments and those you know, posts after a loss, right,
- 18:44Speaker 2: and it's people are and it's their core followers.
- 18:48Speaker 1: People are frustrated, absolutely rightfully so. So all right, we
- 18:52Speaker 1: are going to take a quick break here, but before that,

- 19:41Speaker 1: right back. All right, We are back and Len the
- 19:45Speaker 1: Flyers Rookie camp kicks off this week. Hockey's in the air,
- 19:49Speaker 1: my friend, Hockey is definitely in the air. And while
- 19:53Speaker 1: a lot of these guys that we're gonna be keeping
- 19:56Speaker 1: our eyes on during rookie camp. You know, mattve Mitchkoff,
- 20:00Speaker 1: of course he's going to be up with the big
- 20:01Speaker 1: team this year, but rookie Jet Luchenko, Oliver Bonk, Denver Barkie,
- 20:08Speaker 1: just to name a few. You know, these are some
- 20:10Speaker 1: of the guys we're going to be watching and following
- 20:12Speaker 1: to see how their development is going to be going
- 20:14Speaker 1: this year and when some of these guys might actually
- 20:17Speaker 1: potentially be joining the team during this rebuild. Man, I'm
- 20:21Speaker 1: really looking forward to following what some of these some
- 20:24Speaker 1: of these rookies do and some of these really young guys,
- 20:27Speaker 1: because you know, there's a there's some talent in this
- 20:29Speaker 1: system here, and it's gonna be interesting to follow.
- 20:32Speaker 2: Yeah. I was actually driving home from work today and
- 20:35Speaker 2: just flipping around and came upon the NHL Network and
- 20:40Speaker 2: there's one guy had said he's like, twenty four more
- 20:43Speaker 2: days until the season starts. Yeah, hell all right, they
- 20:48Speaker 2: said eleven days until preseason stuff starts. So like, wow, man,
- 20:51Speaker 2: that's like, yeah, you look at the counter and it
- 20:54Speaker 2: is September tenth, but you're still like, damn already.
- 20:58Speaker 1: I know, I know. Well, the Rookie Game is going
- 21:00Speaker 1: to be happening in Lehigh Valley this weekend. You know,
- 21:03Speaker 1: was it Home and Home?
- 21:04Speaker 2: Do they? Is it a series or is it just one.
- 21:06Speaker 1: Game they're doing it? I believe it's a series if
- 21:08Speaker 1: I'm not mistaken. I mean it's gonna be the rain. Yeah,
- 21:10Speaker 1: it's the Rookie Series at the PPL Center in Allentown.
- 21:14Speaker 1: The Flyers are going to play a two game rookie
- 21:17Speaker 1: series with against New York Rangers.
- 21:19Speaker 2: Have they released a roster for that game.
- 21:22Speaker 1: I don't think they have yet. I've just seen some
- 21:24Speaker 1: I would like, Yeah.
- 21:25Speaker 2: I would like to see who they're who they're dressing
- 21:28Speaker 2: for those and if it's more than one game, chances
- 21:30Speaker 2: are different players are gonna you know, maybe getting you know,
- 21:34Speaker 2: in different games, right product the same team for both games,
- 21:38Speaker 2: But yeah, I would be very interested to see who
- 21:40Speaker 2: who's going to be out there.
- 21:41Speaker 1: Yeah, it's going to be interesting to follow Oliver Bonk
- 21:45Speaker 1: this season here after being selected by the Flyers with
- 21:48Speaker 1: the latter part of their two twenty twenty three first
- 21:52Speaker 1: round picks. He's a defenseman that's coming off a really
- 21:57Speaker 1: good season with the London Knights. So so look nineteen
- 22:01Speaker 1: years old at this point. It's not eligible for the
- 22:04Speaker 1: American Hockey League this season. However, you know his performance
- 22:09Speaker 1: in the rookie camp and NHL camp this September, I
- 22:12Speaker 1: think it's going to be a real test to his
- 22:13Speaker 1: game's growth since last year. I'm gonna be keeping my
- 22:16Speaker 1: eyes on Oliver Bonk and seeing what he does because
- 22:19Speaker 1: he could be part of this rebuild long term. And
- 22:22Speaker 1: again Jet Luchenko the rookie, looking forward to seeing what
- 22:25Speaker 1: he's going to be doing on the ice as well.
- 22:27Speaker 1: As folks may know he was the Flyers twenty twenty
- 22:29Speaker 1: four first round pick, and I guess he's likely going
- 22:33Speaker 1: to need a year to be ready to really challenge
- 22:37Speaker 1: for any type of NHL roster spot, you know. I
- 22:39Speaker 1: mean he's eighteen years old at this point, here his
- 22:42Speaker 1: first rookie camp. These two guys, I'm really going to
- 22:45Speaker 1: be looking forward to seeing what they do this coming season.
- 22:48Speaker 2: Yeah, I mean, those are two interesting names. You know.
- 22:52Speaker 2: A Bank, you know, is a guy that from everything
- 22:55Speaker 2: anytime I read like you know, a prospect or you know,
- 22:59Speaker 2: we're talking about the liar system or we're talking about
- 23:01Speaker 2: the top prospects in each system, Bank is a guy
- 23:04Speaker 2: that you know is pretty well regarded. You know. So
- 23:08Speaker 2: you know, you draft a guy in the twenties and
- 23:10Speaker 2: you're like, okay, we'll see you know, your your expectations
- 23:14Speaker 2: maybe aren't as high as it would be for a
- 23:16Speaker 2: top ten pick, but you know, every but everything I
- 23:20Speaker 2: read about him that the new prospect writers hold him
- 23:23Speaker 2: in pretty high regard, and you know they I've read
- 23:26Speaker 2: nothing but good things about you know, what he's been
- 23:28Speaker 2: doing so far. You know, both him and Barkie or
- 23:32Speaker 2: with London in the in the CHL So you know,
- 23:37Speaker 2: maybe another year of them being there if that's the case,
- 23:42Speaker 2: would be you know, good with them, maybe you know,
- 23:45Speaker 2: getting chemistry or whatever the two of them, maybe getting
- 23:49Speaker 2: a chance to play with each other more would be
- 23:52Speaker 2: interesting to me. And then with Lichenko, it's interesting to
- 23:57Speaker 2: me because you know, when he was taken, I think
- 24:00Speaker 2: a lot of people are like, well, Helenius is on
- 24:02Speaker 2: the board right and everything I'm reading, Helenius is a
- 24:05Speaker 2: guy that you know, a lot of people think are
- 24:08Speaker 2: going is going to be you know, NHL ready from
- 24:11Speaker 2: day one, and he's going to be in Buffalo's lineup
- 24:14Speaker 2: on on day one, which you know you're like, why
- 24:17Speaker 2: why did the Flyers take that? But the thing I'm
- 24:20Speaker 2: going to be looking at with Lachenka this year isn't
- 24:22Speaker 2: you know, obviously you want to see how he's going
- 24:23Speaker 2: to do in this rookie camp, But to me, it's
- 24:26Speaker 2: more of how he does in the CHL this year.
- 24:29Speaker 2: Going back to gelf you know, because I think the
- 24:35Speaker 2: reason he was picked was he was a you know,
- 24:38Speaker 2: for I guess he was seventeen when he was drafted,
- 24:41Speaker 2: and he's one of those like birthdays that just barely
- 24:43Speaker 2: made the cut to be in that draft. So he's
- 24:46Speaker 2: young for that draft draft class, and I think that
- 24:49Speaker 2: you know, that's something the teams look at. They your
- 24:52Speaker 2: birthday for whatever reason. In these draft classes a lot
- 24:55Speaker 2: of times, you know, if everything else is equal, right,
- 24:58Speaker 2: you know that two, So it'll be interesting to see. Uh,
- 25:03Speaker 2: he's a guy that obviously they think has a lot
- 25:05Speaker 2: of development ahead of him, and a guy that they think,
- 25:08Speaker 2: you know, is a guy that maybe if he was
- 25:10Speaker 2: in next year's draft, he would be taken a lot
- 25:12Speaker 2: higher because I think they're looking to him to make
- 25:16Speaker 2: a big step forward in his uh, you know, year
- 25:20Speaker 2: after this year, after being drafted, he's a guy that
- 25:23Speaker 2: I think that there they think is going to make
- 25:25Speaker 2: a major leap as a prospect and have a lot
- 25:28Speaker 2: of people talking about him. And then he's a guy
- 25:30Speaker 2: that's in our system because you know, they drafted him
- 25:33Speaker 2: when he was drafted this year, You're like, whoa, there
- 25:37Speaker 2: might be a lot more helium with regard to his
- 25:39Speaker 2: name at this time next year. So that's I think
- 25:43Speaker 2: what the Flyers Brass is banking on when they drafted him.
- 25:46Speaker 1: Yeah. Absolutely, absolutely.
- 25:48Speaker 2: Look, and I think we're we're both staying away from
- 25:52Speaker 2: mitchkov because it's the obvious guy we want to pick
- 25:57Speaker 2: somebody else. But you know.
- 26:01Speaker 1: Exactly, I was just gonna say, we're not gonna get
- 26:03Speaker 1: into division. We're not gonna talk about Mitch Covrey here.
- 26:05Speaker 1: We have plenty of time to talk about him. We're
- 26:07Speaker 1: gonna be talking about him a ton, and like Lynn said,
- 26:10Speaker 1: the obvious choice that everybody's gonna be watching during the
- 26:13Speaker 1: Rookie Series at the PPL Center in Allentown this coming weekend,
- 26:17Speaker 1: and just you know, throughout the course of this early
- 26:19Speaker 1: part of you know, camp and in the early part
- 26:22Speaker 1: of the season. So that said, enough Flyers talk. Now
- 26:26Speaker 1: let's get into some football talk. We're gonna start off
- 26:28Speaker 1: with the Philadelphia Eagles here Eagles Falcons Monday Night Football,
- 26:32Speaker 1: the Eagles first home game of the season. Thoughts about
- 26:37Speaker 1: where the Birds need to really clean up things heading
- 26:40Speaker 1: into Week two, and I mean, frankly, lenn it really
- 26:43Speaker 1: is the quarterback position. Look as we said on our
- 26:48Speaker 1: pregame show this week on our Opposition Territory show we
- 26:52Speaker 1: haven't talked about on the table Talk show with Mark
- 26:55Speaker 1: Schofield from Espionation this past week, quarterback play was not good.
- 27:00Speaker 1: In Week one. You saw a lot of quarterbacks not
- 27:03Speaker 1: playing during the preseason, they were getting the rust off
- 27:06Speaker 1: Jalen Hurts obviously one of those quarterbacks. However, Hurts actually
- 27:10Speaker 1: produced the fifth most passing yards in Week one. Even
- 27:14Speaker 1: though he did that again, still a lot of rust.
- 27:18Speaker 1: I mean, he's got to make smarter decisions when he's
- 27:21Speaker 1: in the pocket. He's got to make smarter decisions with
- 27:23Speaker 1: the ball when he's throwing it. Had two terrible, terrible interceptions.
- 27:28Speaker 1: So Jalen Hurts needing to take some steps forward, and
- 27:32Speaker 1: I think he's gonna get it done because he's a
- 27:34Speaker 1: fantastic talent, Lenn, He really is. I'm not gonna sit
- 27:37Speaker 1: here and crap on Jalen Hurts. They won down in Brazil.
- 27:41Speaker 1: We did the postgame show last week. We weren't necessarily
- 27:44Speaker 1: happy with his performance. Could have been a lot worse.
- 27:47Speaker 1: I think, however, this team, you know, they had a
- 27:50Speaker 1: lot of resiliency, especially from a defensive standpoint, that really
- 27:53Speaker 1: kept him in the game. It didn't help, or I
- 27:56Speaker 1: should say it did help that the Green Bay Packers
- 27:59Speaker 1: were sloppy as well. Week one a slopfest for the
- 28:04Speaker 1: Philadelphia Eagles in a lot of different ways. But I
- 28:06Speaker 1: think if Hurts can find his footing. I think he
- 28:09Speaker 1: could light up week two quite frankly, which I think
- 28:11Speaker 1: he might actually because of the struggles that the Falcons
- 28:15Speaker 1: went through against Pittsburgh Steelers. So I'm looking at Jalen
- 28:19Speaker 1: Hurts and I'm thinking he's really going to have a
- 28:20Speaker 1: bounce back week from last week to this coming week
- 28:24Speaker 1: on Monday night football on primetime. So that's what I'm
- 28:27Speaker 1: going to be looking for you. What about you, buddy,
- 28:29Speaker 1: specifically your thoughts on what they're really going to need
- 28:32Speaker 1: to clean up heading into week two?
- 28:34Speaker 2: Well, Herts is the obvious thing, but I mean, and
- 28:36Speaker 2: I'm interested to see. Okay, it's a different environment, obviously.
- 28:40Speaker 2: It's it's a home game, and it's a true home game.
- 28:43Speaker 2: It's not just one that counts as a home game
- 28:45Speaker 2: on the on the Eagles schedule. It's an actual home
- 28:48Speaker 2: game right in their city and their stadium and all
- 28:51Speaker 2: that good stuff. So that should be helpful as well
- 28:54Speaker 2: as the fact that you know, listen, you you followed
- 28:57Speaker 2: the NFL much much, much more more intensely than I do.
- 29:01Speaker 2: You could probably tell me a lot more about the
- 29:03Speaker 2: Atlanta Falcons defensively than I would know off the top
- 29:07Speaker 2: of my head. But I'm willing to bet that the
- 29:10Speaker 2: Falcons defense is probably not as strong as Green Bays.
- 29:13Speaker 2: Am I am?
- 29:14Speaker 1: I correct in, You are very correct in that, and
- 29:18Speaker 1: especially from a secondary standpoint as well. You've got two
- 29:21Speaker 1: very undersized cornerbacks starting against AJ Brown and Devonte Smith.
- 29:27Speaker 1: I think our receivers are going to completely eat this
- 29:30Speaker 1: coming Monday night.
- 29:32Speaker 2: Yeah, So, I mean, okay, you're you're at home. He
- 29:35Speaker 2: has had a game now to get the rust off
- 29:37Speaker 2: his belt, you know, off him. You know, he's going
- 29:40Speaker 2: up against an easier defense than you know, he faced
- 29:44Speaker 2: in Green Bay last week. So yeah, I want to
- 29:47Speaker 2: see progression this week because of all the reasons that
- 29:51Speaker 2: I just mentioned there, I expect progression. And if I
- 29:54Speaker 2: don't see it, then okay, then that's you know, maybe
- 29:58Speaker 2: the the feeling of being a little bit nervous, I
- 30:02Speaker 2: think is a little bit more legitimate. So yeah, that
- 30:06Speaker 2: hurts his obviously. I mean it's the number one thing
- 30:11Speaker 2: I don't know about Atlanta's line. But will they get
- 30:14Speaker 2: more of a pass rush than they did last week?
- 30:17Speaker 2: That's another biggie for me. There you go, Saquon, you know,
- 30:21Speaker 2: will will you know? Will they continue you know utilizing
- 30:25Speaker 2: him as well as they did last week. So there's
- 30:28Speaker 2: a number of things, but hurts to me is obviously
- 30:31Speaker 2: the biggie.
- 30:31Speaker 1: Absolutely. All right, Well, go back into the podcast feed.
- 30:35Speaker 1: If you have not heard the Eagles Falcons preview show,
- 30:39Speaker 1: head on over there. I spoke with Aaron Freeman from
- 30:41Speaker 1: the Locked On Falcons podcast. We had a great conversation
- 30:45Speaker 1: about it. Listen to the pregame show there and Len
- 30:49Speaker 1: before I let you go here, buddy, and before we
- 30:51Speaker 1: go to break scoring predictions for this coming week's game again,
- 30:55Speaker 1: Monday Night football, Eagles first home game against the Falcons.
- 30:59Speaker 1: I'm going with an Eagles win and I'm actually going
- 31:01Speaker 1: with thirty four to sixteen. I think the Eagles are
- 31:04Speaker 1: going to decisively win this game. What do you think
- 31:07Speaker 1: is going to happen in terms of the score this week, buddy.
- 31:10Speaker 2: Yeah, I'm kind of in the same range as you.
- 31:12Speaker 2: I have thirty two to nineteen Eagles. I do think
- 31:17Speaker 2: that they're They're just a better team. And you know,
- 31:20Speaker 2: I didn't expect the Falcons to lose to Pittsburgh. Who
- 31:24Speaker 2: are you know? Just really, I mean, there's not much
- 31:29Speaker 2: going on there offensively, no in Pittsburgh, So I mean,
- 31:32Speaker 2: if they if they couldn't beat the Steelers, I can't
- 31:35Speaker 2: imagine they're gonna, you know, farewell against the Eagles. So
- 31:39Speaker 2: thirty two to nineteen.
- 31:39Speaker 1: For me, I really quick I said that. I said
- 31:43Speaker 1: to Aaron Freeman on the Lockdown Falcons podcast, I was
- 31:46Speaker 1: like that the relationship between Kirk Cousins, because Kirk Cousins
- 31:50Speaker 1: is a good quarterback. He is a good quarterback in
- 31:53Speaker 1: this league. Not the greatest in the world, but he's good.
- 31:56Speaker 1: But the relationship and the chemistry between his receivers, the coaches,
- 32:00Speaker 1: everything needs to start manifesting for this team, and it
- 32:03Speaker 1: needs to happen sooner rather than later, you know. It
- 32:06Speaker 1: just it really bugs me that a lot of coaches
- 32:08Speaker 1: like Siriani are not playing their starters during the course
- 32:11Speaker 1: of the preseason, even if it is for a few series.
- 32:14Speaker 1: It really bothers me, man, because like, you can't get
- 32:17Speaker 1: that chemistry going, the relationships going with these with these
- 32:21Speaker 1: players to manifest itself on the field. So I think
- 32:25Speaker 1: Kirk Cousins is gonna have still some difficulty up up
- 32:28Speaker 1: in Philadelphia, and it could permeate throughout the rest of
- 32:31Speaker 1: the early part of the season because right after the
- 32:32Speaker 1: Eagles they got the Chiefs to play. It could be
- 32:35Speaker 1: zero to three for the Falcons.
- 32:38Speaker 2: Yeah. I don't know if that's a fad throughout the
- 32:40Speaker 2: league that has happened in terms of like, we're not
- 32:43Speaker 2: going to play our starters at all. Again, you would
- 32:45Speaker 2: know a lot more about that than I would. But
- 32:47Speaker 2: I feel like if it is a fat it's going
- 32:49Speaker 2: to be a short lived one because teams are going
- 32:51Speaker 2: to see, like, man, we're not ready for the start
- 32:54Speaker 2: of the season. Yeah, I'm not asking you to play
- 32:56Speaker 2: your starters for a half, give them a couple series, two,
- 33:00Speaker 2: three series, and then you can go figure out who
- 33:02Speaker 2: your fifth linebacker is gonna you know, fitth string linecker
- 33:05Speaker 2: is gonna be you know, you know, knock yourself out
- 33:08Speaker 2: at that point, but you know, you gotta at least
- 33:10Speaker 2: give these guys something otherwise, you know, hell, why have
- 33:14Speaker 2: him show up at camp at all? Just come on
- 33:16Speaker 2: opening night and we'll see what's what? You know? Absolutely
- 33:19Speaker 2: so uh yeah, that that to me is I think
- 33:22Speaker 2: that fad is gonna be very short lived.
- 33:24Speaker 1: I hope you so, yeah, I hope so, buddy, I'm
- 33:26Speaker 1: gonna let you go. You have any final thoughts before
- 33:28Speaker 1: we head out of here and had to break.
- 33:31Speaker 2: No, just uh hope they're good health for the fills here.
- 33:35Speaker 1: Absolutely, we need good health for the pills. And again
- 33:38Speaker 1: sky's not falling. But uh, we're gonna keep talking about
- 33:41Speaker 1: this team on this show. We are gonna take a
- 33:43Speaker 1: break and we'll be back in just a bit. All right,
- 33:46Speaker 1: we are back. Let's get into some college football talk here.
- 33:49Speaker 1: It's early in the season. We got a great guest.
- 33:52Speaker 1: It's what we're throwing down on the table and now
- 33:55Speaker 1: on the table. It is great to have him back
- 34:00Speaker 1: on the podcast to get into some college football storylines
- 34:03Speaker 1: that were following early in this season. He is from
- 34:06Speaker 1: Fans Sided and he is also from the False Start
- 34:10Speaker 1: College Football podcast, and it's great to have him on
- 34:14Speaker 1: the show. We've got John Bueller. How you doing. John.
- 34:16Speaker 3: Great to be back, Jeff Glad we're talking about college
- 34:19Speaker 3: football and maybe not necessarily the big NFL game this
- 34:22Speaker 3: weekend because boys not look good versus Selers.
- 34:25Speaker 1: Look. I mean, we did our we did our Eagles
- 34:28Speaker 1: Falcons preview show. And before we get into some college
- 34:32Speaker 1: football talk here, like I gotta say, like, I mean,
- 34:35Speaker 1: they kind of held up a little bit the Falcons
- 34:37Speaker 1: kind of held up against the Steeler, a really really
- 34:40Speaker 1: good defense with the Steelers, but of course they didn't
- 34:43Speaker 1: come out on top. They're always rusty to start the year.
- 34:46Speaker 1: It seems like the Falcons are always slow to start
- 34:48Speaker 1: the year.
- 34:48Speaker 3: John, I know, brittles start to the season. We got
- 34:51Speaker 3: the Eagles next and the Chiefs, and then he got
- 34:53Speaker 3: a Saints bucks and then he is evens up a
- 34:56Speaker 3: little bit. Maybe Kirk Cousins can actually walk by.
- 34:58Speaker 1: That baby can That's we hope, gosh, hopefully he can. Folks,
- 35:03Speaker 1: make sure you're following John on the Twitter slash x
- 35:07Speaker 1: at bueller one one eight. He is a great, great
- 35:10Speaker 1: follow I got that correct, right. I do have new
- 35:13Speaker 1: glasses here, so all right, great, I got the glasses
- 35:15Speaker 1: are doing me well here. So let's start off our
- 35:19Speaker 1: discussion here with a particular college football team that we
- 35:22Speaker 1: all kind of were like, oh, my gosh, what happened
- 35:26Speaker 1: to them? And I'm talking about Notre Dame. My gosh.
- 35:30Speaker 1: An interesting team and one of only five college football
- 35:34Speaker 1: teams without a touchdown pass so far this season. It's
- 35:37Speaker 1: quite astonishing what we've seen from Notre Dame thus far. John.
- 35:41Speaker 1: Of course, they lost to Northern Illinois this past week
- 35:44Speaker 1: shocked the world. Some questions are persisting about this team,
- 35:49Speaker 1: and even though their remaining schedule really kind of seems
- 35:52Speaker 1: to show us that they likely have a successful season
- 35:55Speaker 1: here at the end of the day, how should we
- 35:57Speaker 1: be looking at Notre Dame at this point given the
- 36:00Speaker 1: challenges that they're facing early in this season.
- 36:03Speaker 3: I'm so mad at it. I'm so mad, Like if
- 36:06Speaker 3: I was there, if I was their parent, They're getting
- 36:08Speaker 3: grounded for like a month, Like we're gonna go to school,
- 36:11Speaker 3: They're going to do their their their activities, and then
- 36:13Speaker 3: they're gonna go to their room and do their homework
- 36:16Speaker 3: all off season long. I had Notre Dame in a
- 36:18Speaker 3: group of about seven teams that were playoff locks. You know,
- 36:21Speaker 3: pretty much everybody had the Georgia's and Texas, Oregon, Ohio
- 36:26Speaker 3: States is like certainties, and then Notre Dame is in
- 36:28Speaker 3: that same group with your Penn State, Nitney Lions, and
- 36:31Speaker 3: the old miss Rebels is like, Okay, they're probably going
- 36:33Speaker 3: to get in. That's how I felt. I had Notre
- 36:36Speaker 3: Dame going twelve and zero. I had them getting the
- 36:38Speaker 3: five seed. I had them playing Georgia and like the
- 36:41Speaker 3: Orange Bowl and like the National semis.
- 36:43Speaker 1: Okay, and.
- 36:46Speaker 3: I I understand that going to college station's tough. You
- 36:49Speaker 3: know you're going up like Riley Leonard's going up gets
- 36:52Speaker 3: his former head coach and Mike Elko when they were
- 36:54Speaker 3: at Duke. Now he's on the A and M sidelines.
- 36:56Speaker 3: But it's I could not be more disappointed in Notre Dame.
- 37:02Speaker 3: Like the thing that really bothers me is like they
- 37:06Speaker 3: got to stop messing around with the poor quarterback and
- 37:08Speaker 3: get some kid out of high school.
- 37:10Speaker 1: Right.
- 37:10Speaker 3: I understand that the Drew Pines and the Tyler Buckner's
- 37:12Speaker 3: of the world didn't take but Riley Letard's not Riley Leward.
- 37:16Speaker 3: But he can't run and he just is. I hate
- 37:19Speaker 3: his body language on the sideline and he looks like
- 37:21Speaker 3: a Philip Rivers his cousin, like blaming everybody else. It's
- 37:24Speaker 3: just not as good, right, It's.
- 37:26Speaker 1: Right, man, I just Notre Dame. They have talent. They
- 37:30Speaker 1: have talent on the team, and it's just not coming
- 37:33Speaker 1: together the way that I think it's going to. And
- 37:36Speaker 1: that's basically what I was saying at first here, you
- 37:38Speaker 1: know this first topic here, they have the talent. I
- 37:41Speaker 1: think they're going to get things together. You look at
- 37:43Speaker 1: their schedule and you say to yourself, Okay, they should
- 37:45Speaker 1: be winning a lot more games here in the very
- 37:47Speaker 1: near future. And again we saw what happened with Northern Illinois. However,
- 37:52Speaker 1: I think they gotta get They have the talent, they
- 37:54Speaker 1: just got to get it together.
- 37:56Speaker 3: Yeah, I know, it's like I had and I have
- 37:59Speaker 3: them going twelve to zero. A lot of people felt
- 38:00Speaker 3: they were like a ten and two team. Yeah, probably
- 38:02Speaker 3: in the playoff mix with that schedule as national independent,
- 38:06Speaker 3: probably not going to lose to Purdue, But then again,
- 38:08Speaker 3: what we saw last week, anything's.
- 38:09Speaker 1: Up in the air exactly.
- 38:11Speaker 3: I don't think they're going to beat USC now. I
- 38:13Speaker 3: think that team's kind of firing all cylinders with Dean
- 38:16Speaker 3: Tublan calling the defense there. But like to me, that
- 38:19Speaker 3: loss in Northern Illinois, that feels like two losses.
- 38:22Speaker 1: Yea.
- 38:22Speaker 3: Even if they won out and they're eleven to one,
- 38:24Speaker 3: I think the committee is going to be like, now,
- 38:25Speaker 3: that's a ten and two team, and we're going to
- 38:27Speaker 3: take a ten and two team out of the Big
- 38:30Speaker 3: ten the SEC over them and probably like an eleven
- 38:33Speaker 3: to one team that doesn't play for a conference championship
- 38:36Speaker 3: out of the Big twelve or the ACC. So yeah,
- 38:38Speaker 3: Notre Dame, you gotta went out and you got to
- 38:40Speaker 3: be impressive to get back in the playoff because you're
- 38:42Speaker 3: in the doghouse right now.
- 38:43Speaker 1: Absolutely. Well, it's interesting, how you know you mentioned you
- 38:46Speaker 1: mentioned USC. I wasn't even going to talk talk about
- 38:49Speaker 1: this quite frankly, but you know, you look at changing
- 38:53Speaker 1: perceptions of certain teams. I think already early this season,
- 38:56Speaker 1: Notre Dame is won, of course, just talking about them.
- 38:59Speaker 1: I mean Iowa State, I think, is another team. You know,
- 39:02Speaker 1: we're changing the perception of them in USC. Usc everybody's thinking, oh,
- 39:07Speaker 1: they're coming into the Big Ten, they're gonna get dominated
- 39:09Speaker 1: right out of the gate, blah blah blah. You know,
- 39:12Speaker 1: they look like a pretty solid team thus far. And
- 39:16Speaker 1: it's just interesting how the perception within the college football
- 39:19Speaker 1: landscape has altered a bit, I think. So maybe that's
- 39:23Speaker 1: a conversation for another time, John, But I mean there
- 39:27Speaker 1: were some real close games this past week as we're
- 39:29Speaker 1: moving along with the conversation here, My Penn State Ninteellions
- 39:33Speaker 1: almost lost a bowling Green. I was actually at that
- 39:35Speaker 1: game with my family. I was completely shocked throughout the game.
- 39:39Speaker 1: And so what we were seeing, especially from the Nitney
- 39:42Speaker 1: Lion defense and a defensive line and defensive front that's
- 39:44Speaker 1: supposed to be pretty dominant, and they were just getting handled.
- 39:48Speaker 1: And while Alabama won this past week, it was more
- 39:51Speaker 1: of a survival kind of game for them as well.
- 39:55Speaker 1: So what do you attribute to the lack of I
- 39:58Speaker 1: would say real and sheer down dominance that we really
- 40:01Speaker 1: have not seen yet from some of these top college
- 40:04Speaker 1: football programs early this season. What are your thoughts here?
- 40:08Speaker 3: I think it's interesting your group, both Alabama and Penn
- 40:10Speaker 3: State together they're kind of dealing with the exact same thing. Like, Okay,
- 40:13Speaker 3: Bama's four, Penn State's eight. In my projections for the playoffs,
- 40:17Speaker 3: they're both getting in right now. Penn State a little
- 40:19Speaker 3: more comfortably than Alabama. But you know, as you're watching
- 40:23Speaker 3: Penn State play Bowling Green, you're like, that team's pretty
- 40:26Speaker 3: good there down at Bowling Green too. Harold Fannin's NFL
- 40:30Speaker 3: prospect Scott Leffler might be the next like coach to
- 40:34Speaker 3: go to bigger, better things like Urban Meyer, Dave Plos
- 40:36Speaker 3: and you know, Babers and Bowling Green was not my
- 40:40Speaker 3: pick to win the MAC. But they were in my
- 40:41Speaker 3: colleague and Fall Star co host Cody Williams pick to
- 40:44Speaker 3: win the MAC. So that's that's not a bad team.
- 40:46Speaker 3: They're they're pretty good then with you know, I guess
- 40:49Speaker 3: with the Alabama with usf Alex Golishkin really coach, They're
- 40:52Speaker 3: kind of limited offensively, but they've kind of given Alabama
- 40:55Speaker 3: scare the last two seasons. Got to play one more
- 40:58Speaker 3: time in twenty six. Yeah, that worked out really great there,
- 41:00Speaker 3: Greg Brands scheduling then. But it's like, I think the
- 41:04Speaker 3: biggest thing is it's it's it's the coaching changes and
- 41:08Speaker 3: you know, you talk about trying to make the adjustments there.
- 41:11Speaker 3: It's a little more profound there in Alabama with Klein
- 41:14Speaker 3: de Borr coming in with a whole new staff. But
- 41:16Speaker 3: with Penn State, you know, you got to replace Mike
- 41:18Speaker 3: Yourstitch with Andy Coltnicki, you got to place Manny Diaz
- 41:21Speaker 3: with Tom Allen. And I kind of feel with Penn State,
- 41:24Speaker 3: like from AFAR, everybody was getting on Tom Allen's case.
- 41:27Speaker 3: I feel that like Tom Allen's trying to go in
- 41:29Speaker 3: there with respect again, you know, a former competitor and
- 41:31Speaker 3: division with Penn State. At Indiana, he's like he's trying
- 41:35Speaker 3: to step on a you know, James Franklin's toes a
- 41:37Speaker 3: little bit. Whereas Andy Coldnicky, that guy special. Look a
- 41:40Speaker 3: look at look at the difference. At Kansas. They're not
- 41:42Speaker 3: good anymore.
- 41:42Speaker 1: Absolutely. Yeah.
- 41:43Speaker 3: Yeah, Andy Cold Nicky is going to be It's gonna
- 41:45Speaker 3: be just fine. With Penn State, it's gonna take a
- 41:47Speaker 3: little more time. Alabama, you've got a new head coach
- 41:51Speaker 3: and you've got four new coordinators, two coordinators on both
- 41:54Speaker 3: sides of the ball. It's insane. So the defense is
- 41:57Speaker 3: figuring it out. Kane Wamack again had a bit at
- 41:59Speaker 3: Ayu with Debor. He's really good. Came over from South Alabama.
- 42:03Speaker 3: Maurice Linguist at Buffalo. They're kind of figuring it out together.
- 42:07Speaker 3: Looks better than what we saw out of p Golding
- 42:09Speaker 3: previous years offense. That's the problem. Yeah, because he thought
- 42:14Speaker 3: it was going to be Ryan Grubb. Ryan Grubb's gonna
- 42:16Speaker 3: come with me from Seattle. Well he went back to
- 42:18Speaker 3: Seattle to go be on Mike McDonald's staff with the Seahawks.
- 42:20Speaker 1: Yeah, so you got to.
- 42:22Speaker 3: Promote from within, and you're like Nick Sheridan kind of
- 42:24Speaker 3: call plays that one year in Indiana he wasn't good.
- 42:27Speaker 3: And then JaMarcus Shepherd's kind of a really good wide
- 42:30Speaker 3: receivers coach, but he's not calling plays. And then Debor
- 42:33Speaker 3: that's his bread and butter, and that's probably why Washington
- 42:35Speaker 3: lost national championship. He's like, Okay, I'm gonna step on
- 42:38Speaker 3: grubs turf and call plays and get away from being
- 42:40Speaker 3: the CEO type. Once they figure out some sort of
- 42:43Speaker 3: like line of demarcation with whose responsibilities are what, they'll
- 42:46Speaker 3: figure it out. But this is going to cost them
- 42:47Speaker 3: at least twice.
- 42:48Speaker 1: Yeah this year, no question. Absolutely. I know our listeners
- 42:52Speaker 1: are probably gonna call me a broken record after saying this,
- 42:56Speaker 1: and I said it on our Eagles and Falcons preview shop.
- 43:00Speaker 1: John is that relationships matter so much between coaches and
- 43:04Speaker 1: players in terms of what you're going to inevitably see
- 43:07Speaker 1: on the field. And you know, whether whether it's Eagles Falcons.
- 43:10Speaker 1: You know you have the Falcons with new coaching staff,
- 43:13Speaker 1: there's a new quarterback at the helm, You've got new
- 43:16Speaker 1: pieces of the puzzle. You're trying to put it all together.
- 43:19Speaker 1: The relationships at the end of the day, really matter,
- 43:22Speaker 1: and what you're telling us right now, whether it's Alabama,
- 43:25Speaker 1: whether it's Penn State, these new relationships with these coordinators
- 43:28Speaker 1: and these players, they need to start meshing, they need
- 43:30Speaker 1: to start gelling. That chemistry needs to be there in
- 43:33Speaker 1: order to see success on the field. So I think
- 43:36Speaker 1: it's a very underrated type of not even a storyline,
- 43:41Speaker 1: but an aspect to sports. I think in general that
- 43:44Speaker 1: folks don't always realize and that folks sometimes just whether
- 43:48Speaker 1: they or not, they don't want to talk about it
- 43:50Speaker 1: or they just kind of push it off to the side,
- 43:52Speaker 1: the relationships between coaching and the players really do matter
- 43:57Speaker 1: in terms of the chemistry and what happens on the field.
- 43:59Speaker 1: So I just wanted to get on my soapbox air
- 44:01Speaker 1: for just a second. We talked about again on the
- 44:04Speaker 1: Eagles Falcons podcast. Folks go back in the feed listen
- 44:07Speaker 1: to that great preview show. But I wanted to move
- 44:10Speaker 1: along here with our conversation and talk about Texas because boy,
- 44:14Speaker 1: they really do look like a national championship team. They
- 44:17Speaker 1: absolutely dominated Michigan, and as we know, Michigan is a
- 44:21Speaker 1: weekend team from last season, of course, but Texas is
- 44:24Speaker 1: really able to move the ball at will up and
- 44:27Speaker 1: down the field. John, what are your thoughts on what
- 44:30Speaker 1: we've been seeing from Texas and can they really be
- 44:33Speaker 1: the top dogs this year in college football?
- 44:36Speaker 3: Right now, I think they're one of two teams that
- 44:38Speaker 3: can win a national title, along with my Georgia Bulldogs. Yeah,
- 44:41Speaker 3: I'm gonna pick Georgia over them for obvious reasons. I
- 44:44Speaker 3: mean until I see otherwise. Well, they play in Austin
- 44:47Speaker 3: in a few weeks, we'll see what happens. They'll probably
- 44:49Speaker 3: meet in Atlanta, and they'll probably meet in the playoff
- 44:50Speaker 3: for a third time. Right, this goes? But I knew
- 44:54Speaker 3: that Texas was going to dog walk Michigan the whole time.
- 44:57Speaker 3: We kind of knew that from like a mile away.
- 44:59Speaker 3: It's like this Michigan team is going to be a
- 45:01Speaker 3: shell of itself. I don't know why Davis Warren is
- 45:03Speaker 3: the quarterback or you know, Alex Orgy, I don't know
- 45:07Speaker 3: if he could throw a football. Why don't you go
- 45:09Speaker 3: why don't you go get Jordan McLeod in the transfer portal?
- 45:12Speaker 3: Why don't get Dante Moore? I feel like there's just
- 45:15Speaker 3: Charon Moore. Just still think it's Jim Harboss team. Like
- 45:17Speaker 3: you're the head coach, but to go back to Texas,
- 45:20Speaker 3: Sark is absolutely in his back. Sark knows exactly who
- 45:23Speaker 3: he is right now. He was coaching a Big twelve team,
- 45:26Speaker 3: but an SEC team of the Big twelve. The transitions seamless.
- 45:31Speaker 3: He's got so much talent. I'm really impressed with the defense. Yes,
- 45:34Speaker 3: you lost Jeff Choate to the Nevada job, but you
- 45:36Speaker 3: still have Kwietkowski. I forget if his name is Nick Repete.
- 45:39Speaker 3: One of them is the Football Player Leagues coach. He's
- 45:42Speaker 3: really good. I thought losing CJ. Baxter was going to
- 45:46Speaker 3: be an issue at a running back. Now they've got
- 45:49Speaker 3: They've got guys there.
- 45:50Speaker 1: Yeah, they do with.
- 45:52Speaker 3: Everything really well on all three phases. My only concern
- 45:55Speaker 3: is Quinnyears' health. He could be Matthew Stafford or he
- 45:59Speaker 3: might be Samer.
- 46:00Speaker 1: Yeah, and yeah, there's a big difference there there really is.
- 46:05Speaker 3: They both got paid the same, they both number won.
- 46:08Speaker 3: But like, as long as Quinn yours is healthy, he's
- 46:11Speaker 3: going to be a top ten pick, probably top five.
- 46:13Speaker 3: Michigan's front seven is really good and Mason Graham's gonna
- 46:17Speaker 3: be He's like the next Letric Cox.
- 46:18Speaker 2: He's special.
- 46:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 46:19Speaker 3: Uh And but if they put arch Manning out there,
- 46:22Speaker 3: he's not ready for this, and that's the only way
- 46:25Speaker 3: this could go. We only hope that like Texas can
- 46:27Speaker 3: stay healthy. I think they've got enough pieces right there.
- 46:30Speaker 3: But like that's my only concern. This team is really
- 46:32Speaker 3: really good.
- 46:33Speaker 1: Yeah again, folks, we're talking to John Bueller from Fan Sided.
- 46:37Speaker 1: Also you can check out and hear him on the
- 46:41Speaker 1: False Start College Football podcast as well. Follow him on
- 46:45Speaker 1: the Twitter slash x at Bueller one one eight. He's
- 46:48Speaker 1: a great, great follow and I wanted to get into
- 46:52Speaker 1: the ACC with you, John, very very interesting conference to follow.
- 46:57Speaker 1: Miami is currently at the top of the ranking in
- 47:00Speaker 1: that conference, but man Louisville and North Carolina they're undefeated.
- 47:04Speaker 1: Yet you still have Clemson there hanging around there, you know,
- 47:08Speaker 1: toward the top of the conference too, even though they
- 47:10Speaker 1: have had one loss. What are your thoughts on how
- 47:13Speaker 1: the ACC is really taking shape early this season? What
- 47:17Speaker 1: we could see from this conference.
- 47:20Speaker 3: How I feel about the ACC right now is how
- 47:22Speaker 3: I thought I would feel about the Big Twelve. Like
- 47:24Speaker 3: it's just been pure chaos.
- 47:25Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:26Speaker 3: I did pick Miami to win the ACC. I had
- 47:29Speaker 3: them going eleven to one. Their only loss would be
- 47:31Speaker 3: at Cal, who's sneaky good. Look at them getting a
- 47:34Speaker 3: win at Auburn, that's exactly Yes, Yeah, Cal winning at
- 47:37Speaker 3: Auburn and the AEC. What a world we be living.
- 47:39Speaker 3: But I think with Miami that thin can drive itself.
- 47:43Speaker 3: I don't think Mario Cristobal is a good coach at all.
- 47:45Speaker 3: I don't think he can spell his name if he
- 47:47Speaker 3: gave them all five letters. Shannon Dawson's the real deal
- 47:50Speaker 3: as O see, and I think across the board, they've
- 47:53Speaker 3: got a trio with cam Ward, Damian Martinez and Xavier
- 47:57Speaker 3: Ristrepo that I don't think anybody else in the ACC
- 48:00Speaker 3: can really compete with Florida States down they're really dealing
- 48:04Speaker 3: with the fact that Alex Adkins had the show cause
- 48:07Speaker 3: in the three game suspension for trying to poach amarous
- 48:09Speaker 3: memesway from Georgia got caught. Yeah, that'll probably help them
- 48:12Speaker 3: out being really good next year because he can't leave
- 48:14Speaker 3: for another job until twenty six.
- 48:17Speaker 2: Louisville.
- 48:18Speaker 3: I'm glad you brought them up because I would not
- 48:21Speaker 3: say that there was fluky or fraudulent a year ago.
- 48:24Speaker 3: But like they had a really soft schedule. Jeff Brahms
- 48:26Speaker 3: a fantastic coach. Look at how much produced falling off
- 48:30Speaker 3: since he left. Tyler Schuck might be a lot better
- 48:32Speaker 3: than we thought. Louisville's gonna be ranked in the top
- 48:36Speaker 3: fifteen here pretty soon, and we're gonna have to take
- 48:38Speaker 3: them seriously. Uh, North Carolina. We'll see what happens. I
- 48:42Speaker 3: don't know if Max Johnson's good. Harald's the quarterback now apparently,
- 48:45Speaker 3: so we'll see what happens with Mac Brown. Keep an
- 48:48Speaker 3: eye on Boston College with Thomas Castellanas. Yeah, not Castiana's Castellanas. Yes,
- 48:55Speaker 3: the flyball of DF.
- 48:56Speaker 1: Left, Yes, exactly exactly.
- 49:00Speaker 3: Bill O'Brien really wanted to go back to Boston and
- 49:03Speaker 3: Castalanis is really good. They dominated FSU. Georgia Tech sneaky
- 49:08Speaker 3: good too. Syracuse to look at Colm McCoy playing really
- 49:11Speaker 3: well there for fran Brown. Acc could be a lot
- 49:14Speaker 3: of fun. But at the end of the day, that
- 49:16Speaker 3: league is only getting one team in the playoff. It's
- 49:18Speaker 3: probably gonna be Miami. The only way they get two
- 49:20Speaker 3: in there is if like a ten and two team
- 49:22Speaker 3: like Louisville beats them in the Miami is like eleven
- 49:24Speaker 3: to two. It's like, Okay, you kind of gotta put
- 49:25Speaker 3: itim in right. ACC is gonna be a lot of fun.
- 49:28Speaker 1: ACC is definitely gonna be a lot of fun. And
- 49:31Speaker 1: as we look at the top ten here, and let's
- 49:35Speaker 1: look at that, let's look at the top ten here.
- 49:37Speaker 1: You know, I'm wondering which team currently is we're recording
- 49:40Speaker 1: this here on Tuesday, September tenth. Here, which team do
- 49:43Speaker 1: you think is the most underrated in terms of the
- 49:46Speaker 1: current top ten rankings? John, who do you think that
- 49:49Speaker 1: would be?
- 49:49Speaker 3: And why I didn't mean a Budy or Biscuit. It's
- 49:52Speaker 3: Penn State, no question.
- 49:53Speaker 1: I was thinking you were going to say that too,
- 49:55Speaker 1: because that's what I've been thinking too, especially after the
- 49:57Speaker 1: performance this past week from Bowling Green when they played
- 50:00Speaker 1: Bowling Green, I should say and in the.
- 50:03Speaker 3: At the end of the year that the Bowling Green
- 50:04Speaker 3: win is gonna look a lot better. Like that team's
- 50:05Speaker 3: gonna win about eight nine games, probably win their bowl game.
- 50:08Speaker 3: Be like they'll be like I don't know who's who's
- 50:11Speaker 3: like an SEC team that's gonna go like six and seven,
- 50:14Speaker 3: Like they'll they'll be like they'll be like South.
- 50:16Speaker 1: Carolina a Bowl orthing like that.
- 50:17Speaker 3: Yeah, but when I look at Penn State, there's seven
- 50:22Speaker 3: names I can rattle off very easily with coaches and
- 50:26Speaker 3: players like Okay, yeah, Drew Allard, Nicholas Singleton of Dual Carter,
- 50:30Speaker 3: Julian Fleming, James Franklin, and Tom Allen, Andy gold Decky.
- 50:37Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 50:38Speaker 3: And again I'm I'm out of Atlanta. I cover the
- 50:39Speaker 3: sport nationally and it's it's hard to be like and no, yeah,
- 50:43Speaker 3: that's your team. I George is my team. We could
- 50:45Speaker 3: probably go about fifteen twenty thirty people deep with our
- 50:48Speaker 3: respective squads, but I could do that very easily with
- 50:50Speaker 3: Penn State. They've got a lot of talent and it
- 50:54Speaker 3: seems steady. Even though like the coordinator changes are there,
- 50:59Speaker 3: they will be impactful. I think the fact there's no divisions,
- 51:03Speaker 3: no team in the Big Ten benefits more from that
- 51:05Speaker 3: going away than Penn State.
- 51:06Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 51:07Speaker 3: Ye, you know, yeah, you still got to probably play
- 51:09Speaker 3: Ohio State annually because it's kind of like a rival,
- 51:12Speaker 3: but you're not dealing with the Michigan's of the world.
- 51:14Speaker 3: I know that there's all these like protected things.
- 51:16Speaker 1: But that that helps.
- 51:17Speaker 3: Yeah, it helps. Ole miss in the SEC whereas this
- 51:21Speaker 3: hurts the Iowas and the Kentucky's because they're the same program.
- 51:24Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, absolutely, all right, Penn State being the underrated team.
- 51:28Speaker 1: I love it in the top ten here when you
- 51:31Speaker 1: look at these top ten rankings. Now again, as we're
- 51:35Speaker 1: closing out our conversation here, John, which team do you
- 51:38Speaker 1: think is the best chance to actually get knocked out
- 51:40Speaker 1: of the top ten sooner rather than later? When you
- 51:42Speaker 1: see everybody here, who's that one team that kind of
- 51:45Speaker 1: looks weak to you? And you can say to yourself,
- 51:47Speaker 1: you know what, I can see him getting knocked out
- 51:49Speaker 1: of this top ten list.
- 51:51Speaker 3: I might be I might might might, I might be
- 51:53Speaker 3: stroking my ego here a little bit. I kind of
- 51:55Speaker 3: predicted Michigan in Florida State to fall out. And I
- 51:58Speaker 3: think Organ's a bunch of frauds right now. The adult
- 52:01Speaker 3: trust Oregon at all. There's something missing. I love Dan Lanning,
- 52:06Speaker 3: He's a great coach. Will Stein's still a good oc Yeah,
- 52:10Speaker 3: And it pays me, It absolutely pains me to say this.
- 52:15Speaker 3: Bons Bonox is really good for that team.
- 52:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 52:18Speaker 3: I think there's a stark drop off from him to
- 52:20Speaker 3: Dylan Gabriel with Delian Gabriel may be more likable, but
- 52:25Speaker 3: he's not the size like Dylan. Gabriel's maybe six feet tall,
- 52:28Speaker 3: he's left handed, he's a six year senior. You've always
- 52:31Speaker 3: kind of like, oh, he's gonna be so good you see,
- 52:32Speaker 3: Ahwa's gonna be so good Oklahoma, And there are moments,
- 52:35Speaker 3: but like he's not going to carry the team on
- 52:37Speaker 3: his back. Maybe you got the maybe Evan Stewart brought
- 52:40Speaker 3: some of that Texas A and M stink with him
- 52:42Speaker 3: in the transfer portal. Yeah, there's maybe don't play teams
- 52:46Speaker 3: from Idaho anymore like the Vandals. And Boise's pretty good,
- 52:49Speaker 3: Ashton Genty's he might be the best running back in
- 52:52Speaker 3: college triple and again you have Nicola Singleton, I've got
- 52:54Speaker 3: Trevor Aten, and then there's Ali Gordon over there at
- 52:57Speaker 3: Oklahoma State. Yeah, Ashingity is really good. But with Oregon,
- 53:01Speaker 3: I'm like, you can't play like that in beat Ohio State?
- 53:03Speaker 3: Are you kidding me?
- 53:04Speaker 1: Yeah? And don't forget this.
- 53:07Speaker 3: They gotta finish non conference play this weekend. They gotta
- 53:10Speaker 3: play in Core of Allas. That's their super Bowl. Everybody's
- 53:12Speaker 3: leaping right, Yeah, it's a it's Trent Bray's alma mater.
- 53:15Speaker 3: No one's given the Beavers a chance, and that's a
- 53:19Speaker 3: that's a trap game. Oregon's probably gonna win. But like
- 53:23Speaker 3: I hadn't Oregon. I had Oregon playing Georgia for a
- 53:25Speaker 3: national championship, and I was going through with my twelve
- 53:28Speaker 3: team playoff, like who's making it this week? They're my
- 53:31Speaker 3: first team out, Yeah, and I just they gotta they
- 53:34Speaker 3: gotta prove it to me.
- 53:35Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 53:35Speaker 3: This does not feel like a Dan Landing team. This
- 53:37Speaker 3: doesn't even feel like a Mike Belotti team. This kind
- 53:39Speaker 3: of feels like some of the soft energy you would
- 53:41Speaker 3: see with UH, Chip Kelly and definitely with UH. With
- 53:43Speaker 3: Mark Helfrich, it was I'm pretty concerned if I'd be
- 53:47Speaker 3: Oregon right now. Hopefully they can prove it, but like
- 53:49Speaker 3: they've they've not been impressive at all in the non conference.
- 53:52Speaker 1: Yeah, it was great talking to you, John Folks. John
