- 0:06Hello, what's your least favorite scary movie?
- 0:10Do your thing, because welcome to What's Your Least Favorite
- 0:14Scary Movie? The podcast where we talk about
- 0:16the good, the bad, the ugly and the absurd and all of our
- 0:19favorite. And least favorite scary movies?
- 0:20Because we believe every horror movie rightfully has its fan
- 0:23base. If we don't always get it.
- 0:24My name is Travis. And it's Jesse and we're back.
- 0:27We're back in Texas. Back back.
- 0:29We're in Newt, Texas, and we are talking about Texas.
- 0:32Chance O3. That's right, baby.
- 0:36Before we get into it, quick announcement.
- 0:38Obviously this is the end of the month, So what I need our budget
- 0:41tier patrons to do is be on the lookout for two things this
- 0:45weekend. 2 Your vote for the September movie September and
- 0:50your bonus episode. We're going to talk about what
- 0:54we have heard is essentially an Angry Orchard ad, but it's the
- 0:58new Jason Voorhees short. Angry Jason?
- 1:00Yeah. So that is coming out this
- 1:03weekend. So keep an eye on Patreon feed
- 1:07as always. Well, I say as always, as
- 1:09always, as of recently, we will have that bonus episode
- 1:12available for like single purchase if you would like to
- 1:15just listen to that and not be a full recurring patron.
- 1:20Yeah, excited about that. See what is new for the Jason
- 1:25verse, as they like to call it. Honestly, I don't know.
- 1:29I kind of like Angry Richard. I don't like that the whole
- 1:31thing's an ad, but well. Yeah, we'll.
- 1:33Drink an Angry Orchard as we watch it.
- 1:35Maybe, I don't know, I have to watch it.
- 1:38I'm reserving judgement until. Then yeah, yeah, yeah, OK.
- 1:41Well, with that out of the way, I have our poll results for last
- 1:44week's movie. Yay, polls last.
- 1:46Week we talked about Hatchet 2, which has a little slasher known
- 1:52as Victor Crowley, and we wanted to ask everybody who do you want
- 1:56him to fight? Because it seems like he is the
- 2:00type of guy that's primed to fight to go toe to toe with
- 2:03another horror icon considering his franchise is filled with
- 2:06them. He's angry, he's angry, he wants
- 2:08to fight. He's angry and he's not in an
- 2:10orchard, he's in a swamp. Yeah, that's a lot.
- 2:13That's like the orchards. That's the swamp of the South.
- 2:17That's the Orchard of the South. Yeah.
- 2:19OK, so we have three options. We have Jason Voorhees,
- 2:22obviously. Yeah, candy man.
- 2:24And a leather face, kind of obvious.
- 2:27We had a Leatherface in the movie there.
- 2:28Yeah. So between the three of them,
- 2:3062% went Jason to be the Match, 8% would like it to be Candyman,
- 2:35and 31% Leatherface. OK, so here are my thoughts on
- 2:40this. I've been thinking this over for
- 2:42the past 18 hours. So a lot of thought.
- 2:46So I would love the idea of him fighting Jason Voorhees because
- 2:51that's Kane hotter versus Kane hotter, and that's really funny.
- 2:53First of all, I would like to see how they go about filming
- 2:56that. Also that.
- 2:57We kind of got Victor Crowley versus Leatherface because he
- 3:02already put up the biggest fight against him.
- 3:04He did, but he was without chainsaw.
- 3:07That's true. And then finally, because you
- 3:10brought this up, you're like, well, it also doesn't even make
- 3:13sense because Kaney man's a ghost.
- 3:14And I was like, so is Victor Crowley.
- 3:17That's true. He's a repeater.
- 3:19So I'm kind of leaning towards Ghost V ghosts.
- 3:22I actually like that too, now that I think about it, because
- 3:25yeah, ghosts versus ghosts. Like you can get some freaky
- 3:28battles going on there. I want to see Candy Man stick
- 3:31the bees on Victor Crowley. Do we think Victor Crowley
- 3:34doesn't like bees? Like we know he's not bothered
- 3:36by spiders, but do you think of bee is a different situation?
- 3:39I don't think he likes anything. I think he hates everything,
- 3:42including bees. He doesn't care that they
- 3:44pollinate. Oh man.
- 3:45He does not care about that. What is going to happen when
- 3:48your swamp ecosystem can no longer sustain itself?
- 3:51Victor. He's.
- 3:52Too consumed with vengeance and anger and yeah, he doesn't have
- 3:59time for any of that. He's he's reliving the worst day
- 4:02of his life. And what's he going to do when
- 4:04they pave his swamp and put up a parking lot?
- 4:08He's going to terrorize that strip of the town.
- 4:10I can't wait for that to happen. That's going to be a fun new
- 4:12movie. Welcome.
- 4:14OK. All right, So that's it then.
- 4:15I guess we can go on into our Texas Chainsaw coverage.
- 4:18Yeah. Yes, we can.
- 4:20From, from. I had to do these notes on my
- 4:24tablet this week and it was trickier than I expected, so
- 4:28we're gonna go with it. But just know I had
- 4:31difficulties. Much like Texas Chainsaw, we
- 4:33modernized. Yes.
- 4:35OK, so Text Chainsaw 3D released January 4th, 2013.
- 4:41The studios didn't even want to give this a chance.
- 4:44Dude, you said January 1st. January 4th. 4th OK, well that
- 4:48was that was around the time 3 release.
- 4:51It was a birthday movie for you. I remember January 12th that
- 4:54movie came out in the 12th. That just might be the year or
- 4:57the month that Texas Chainsaw lives. 3.
- 4:59Weather Face Texas Chainsaw Massacre 3.
- 5:02Oh, OK. I was like, I thought you meant
- 5:05in 2013. And I was like, I don't know
- 5:06what you're talking about. OK, We watch it on our DVD
- 5:10because we have most of these on physical media.
- 5:13But you can stream it on Plex, Peacock, YouTube or YouTube TV,
- 5:18the prime versions of those or Prime Premium.
- 5:22You can also rent it from Google TV, Apple TV or Fandango at
- 5:25home. Written by a lot of people, Adam
- 5:29Marcus, Deborah Sullivan, Kirsten Elms, Steve and Sesko.
- 5:33And obviously, this is based on characters created by Kim Hinkle
- 5:37and Toby Hooper. Adam Marcus sounds familiar to
- 5:40me. And that came up last night.
- 5:41And that's why. OK, I I knew it as soon as I saw
- 5:44the name. I just want to confirm it.
- 5:45He's the guy that wrote Jason Goes to Hell and directed it.
- 5:49Yeah. So if you guys hate that movie
- 5:51and this movie, that's probably the common thread right there.
- 5:54That's probably why we love this.
- 5:56Movie. Yeah, Actually, yeah.
- 5:58Directed by John Lewis and hop music by John Frizzle.
- 6:02And I want you to know I checked the soundtrack, only one Trey
- 6:07Songz song. So it's singular.
- 6:10It's not Trey's songs, it's Trey song.
- 6:13Yes, that's unfortunate for him. Special effects makeup KMB.
- 6:17Yeah, I think that they've kind of just like they're part of the
- 6:21franchise at this point. Starring Alexandra Daddario as
- 6:24Heather Miller, Dan Yeager as Leatherface, Trey Songz as Ryan,
- 6:29Scott Eastwood as Carl, Tanya Raimondez, Nikki Sean Soups as
- 6:34Daryl Karam, Maliki Sanchez as Kenny, Tom Berry as Sheriff
- 6:39Hooper and Paul Ray as Bart Hartman.
- 6:43Bart Hartman. Bart Hartman.
- 6:44Bart Hartman. I think Bart Hartman's a better
- 6:47name. Bart Hartman.
- 6:49What if he just like, didn't close his A one day and
- 6:53everybody started calling him Bert and his real name's
- 6:55actually Bert? That's a fear he has to live
- 6:58with. Drevis, it's time for our
- 7:01favorite game. Budget or budget?
- 7:05I think this is budget. Absolutely.
- 7:09Roughly 20 million. That's a lot of money for this.
- 7:11Opening weekend 21 million. Worldwide gross 47 million.
- 7:16Oh, I didn't do as good as I would have thought.
- 7:18I know it's. Still not bad.
- 7:19I mean, it made twice this budget.
- 7:20Yeah, yeah, that's true. It's not bad.
- 7:23I picked 3 movies from 2013. OK.
- 7:25The theme is the things family will drag you into.
- 7:30Interesting. OK.
- 7:31The first one is Oculus. Oh man, yeah, that's a fucked
- 7:35up. Family right there.
- 7:36Yeah. That premiered at the Toronto
- 7:38International Film Festival on September 8th, 2013.
- 7:41Budget of 5 million. Worldwide gross of 44 million.
- 7:45IMDb score of 6.5 out of 10. I didn't give you the IMDb score
- 7:48of Texas Chainsaw 3D, did I? No, it's rude.
- 7:53I I would assume so. 4.8. Yeah, 4.8 Come on guys.
- 7:57Like it's at least in the fives. Yeah, be that nice at least, you
- 8:01know. OK, second movie Carrie.
- 8:07OK, yeah, Kerry, another fucked up family.
- 8:09Yep, that. Released October 18th, 2013, $30
- 8:13million Budget Worldwide Gross 84,000,000 IMDb 5.8 out of 10.
- 8:18People like that one. How are people rating the 2013
- 8:22Kerry 5.8 The Texas Chainsaw 3D 4.8 a whole point lower just.
- 8:26For like I want to provide context from me on this.
- 8:30I watched that version before any other version and I didn't
- 8:33even like it. Whenever I saw it, I was like,
- 8:35this isn't good. And I get the the version that
- 8:37people probably aren't going to like this that are into the
- 8:39original too. Yeah, the original is amazing.
- 8:42Well, now we are talking about a remake that is widely beloved by
- 8:47original lovers and that is Evil Dead.
- 8:50Oh yeah, Evil Dead. It's a really good.
- 8:52Remake yeah, that's right, that released April 5th, 2013.
- 8:56Budget of 17,000,000 Worldwide gross of 97,000,000.
- 9:00IMDb of 6.5 out of 10. Yeah, that, that tracks right
- 9:03there. Guess what?
- 9:05What 1 tag line? OK, just one.
- 9:08I think if it's 3D it should be at least three tag lines.
- 9:11Yeah, you like a minimum. You need at least three.
- 9:13Yeah. We're not going to come up with
- 9:15three, so I'm going to immediately be a hypocrite.
- 9:17OK. So, you know, we don't have to.
- 9:20Evil wears many faces. I actually kind of like that.
- 9:25Like. Not bad.
- 9:26How have we not had this tag line for any movie in this
- 9:30franchise so far? It's so fitting.
- 9:35I feel really weird right now. I have, I'm using a like a new
- 9:39chair because my chair that I've been sitting on for the past few
- 9:42months, it broke through. I sat all the way through it, so
- 9:46we now did the funeral for it. It's out there on the curb and I
- 9:49had to bring in one of our folding chairs or a little.
- 9:52It's a camping chair. Yeah.
- 9:53Camping. Yeah.
- 9:54And I am so much lower than Jesse.
- 9:56I feel like a child. Yeah, he's like looking down on
- 9:58him over my shoulder. Like what you doing down?
- 10:00There, the dynamic has shifted and I really do not care for it.
- 10:04Yeah. OK, I have some fun facts.
- 10:07OK, we'd we watch some of the behind the scenes on the DVD.
- 10:10There's actually quite a bit available, but I just went with
- 10:14some of the the more like leatherfacey and special
- 10:17effectsy stuff. Yeah, those are fun.
- 10:19I like those the most. Yeah, so they really wanted a
- 10:22big guy to play Leatherface because Leatherface is a big
- 10:26guy. But the producer said, But I
- 10:28don't want like, a wrestler or a football player, someone who's
- 10:31in shape, because Gunner Hansen had a belly.
- 10:33So we found Dan Yeager. He's 6 foot six, he has belly
- 10:38and he's got scary eyes. You know, and that's like,
- 10:41that's a great way to cast that character.
- 10:43Yeah. I think I wouldn't be mad if
- 10:44they turned him into a giant like they did with Michael Myers
- 10:47and his remake. And I know this isn't a remake,
- 10:49but like, you know. Like the big of Michael Myers
- 10:52and the. H2O.
- 10:55H2O. Yeah, I like this.
- 10:57Yeah, give it like, make it true to him.
- 10:59He was like a big belly dude. Yeah, and I like it cuz Dan
- 11:02Yeager actually like you could tell he, he says that he ripped
- 11:06off Gunner Hanson's work and that is such a put down to
- 11:08himself because he clearly put a lot of thought and study into
- 11:12everything. And he met Gunner Hanson and
- 11:14Sally Hardesty or Sally Hardesty, Marilyn Burns.
- 11:18He met them both on set because they both had roles like small
- 11:22roles as well. That was my first time learning
- 11:24that she was in this. Yeah, she was the grandmother.
- 11:26I had no idea until. Today.
- 11:29And Gunner Hanson plays Boss Sawyer at the beginning, who
- 11:32tells Drayton to just give the boy a boy.
- 11:34Yeah, but he like, he was geeking out the whole time, so
- 11:39excited about these. And he's like just talking about
- 11:41how much the first movie meant to him.
- 11:43And he's like, you know, his whole thing is his family.
- 11:45He's always been used as an object by other people.
- 11:47And now it's like, what does he do?
- 11:49And he's taking all this very seriously.
- 11:51And he's like listening to the things Gunner Hansen's telling
- 11:53him. And then he's also like
- 11:55characterizing it cuz he's like, you know, his foot gets hurt at
- 11:57the end of the original. And so then he's been living in
- 12:00a basement for 20 years. He's not going to be walking
- 12:04completely great. So he gave him like a stiff leg
- 12:07gait and his right foot turned out and he was like, you know,
- 12:10it really hurts to film 14 hour days like that.
- 12:13I can see that. I'm a little bit sad that he's
- 12:15not doing the Dewey walk. He could have lifted that one
- 12:17from old David Arquette, you know.
- 12:19But David Arquette was a wrestler and they said no,
- 12:22that's. True.
- 12:22He takes a chainsaw. You're right.
- 12:25Yeah. Yeah.
- 12:27His whole thing, by the way, I feel like they were teetering on
- 12:31almost like mockumentary levels of his coverage because like,
- 12:35he's like, yeah, like, I are you.
- 12:37Are you about to talk about that?
- 12:38How at the end it started to seem like we're going to watch
- 12:41like a cold case reenacting because he's like, you know, I
- 12:46was surprised at how dark it got because I'm playing this
- 12:49character and hearing these women scream for their lives
- 12:53just really made you want to cut him up with a chainsaw even
- 12:56more. And then like it like it cuts to
- 12:59like a like a like with his dialogue talking about that him
- 13:03just like standing on set, like waiting in between takes and he
- 13:06just has like these fucking dead eyes.
- 13:07He was just like, he's thinking about murder in that moment
- 13:11right there. And it's real.
- 13:12Like I feel like people need to be concerned about this guy.
- 13:16He did not act like he. Was just why we're not meeting
- 13:18Dan Yeager at conventions. Yeah, he's like, I can't be in
- 13:21that headspace. He seemed like a really cool guy
- 13:23and if he was like actually putting this on as like a like a
- 13:25funny bit. I really.
- 13:27Yeah, like he. Yeah, it seemed good.
- 13:30Like I. No, I yeah, I don't think he
- 13:32actually would. Have no, no, no, no.
- 13:33Like he got way too into his character.
- 13:35'S head. I was like watching that behind
- 13:37the scenes footage. I was like, I feel like I
- 13:39stepped into like a modern day sitcom like Parks and Rec or The
- 13:43Office here, you know? Yeah, but it was really cool.
- 13:46And the. So I'm gonna get into talking
- 13:49about the masks a little bit. So we're getting into some of
- 13:51this. They first of all had three
- 13:53masks that they made. They really only described 2 of
- 13:55them for us, but one of them had to be like his favorite pair of
- 13:58slippers. You know, his cozy, comfy thing
- 14:00that he wears around the house. Yeah.
- 14:02And then they needed the scary one for the slaughterhouse, and
- 14:05they wanted to do some new things with it.
- 14:08They wanted to update it. And these guys that were working
- 14:11for KMB, they were so excited. Just both huge Texas Chainsaw
- 14:16fans and so excited to be assigned to this.
- 14:18Yeah. And so they were thinking really
- 14:20hard about the mask and they were giving it some updates that
- 14:22they thought would really both look really cool on screen, be
- 14:26true to the original, and also maybe be a little bit of an
- 14:28improvement because the older masks were always super stiff.
- 14:31They made these a little bit more flexible so that way Dan
- 14:34would be able to show more of his facial expressions, work
- 14:38with it a little bit more. They made it so that way it
- 14:41tightens kind of like a bootstrap on the back.
- 14:44And they wanted to make it easier for him to get on and
- 14:46off. And some of those things that
- 14:47they did to compensate for like the tighter fit, it was molded
- 14:50to fit his face specifically. They had this detail of him
- 14:54sewing the mask onto his face. Yeah, that was a gnarly bit.
- 14:58Yeah, that was it was really gross.
- 15:00And there was a fun little like snippet of Gunner Hansen saying
- 15:04we saw them doing that and I was just like, man, why don't we
- 15:08think of that for mine? Nobody will ever beat the
- 15:11original mask though. That mask is probably one of the
- 15:13most terrifying masks out there. Yes, and they did recreate that
- 15:17for the opening scene. Looked a little bit off.
- 15:20It looks, yeah, it looks just a little bit too bright.
- 15:24A little bit too bright, but also the way I guess it's just
- 15:26like the thing like with Nick Castle, like, yeah, the Nick
- 15:30Castle nose effect, like it'll only fit him that way.
- 15:33Like you can't you put it on somebody else's head.
- 15:35It doesn't fit the same. Yeah, just a couple of other
- 15:38cool things that I saw. They actually had, like,
- 15:41different types of chainsaws for different types of things that
- 15:43they were shooting, which makes sense.
- 15:45But they had a completely rubber one that had, like, the ability
- 15:48to rig, like, smoke machines and stuff to it.
- 15:50It's completely rubbished. That way he could run through,
- 15:52like, the woods and on tracks and stuff like that without
- 15:54worrying about falling and actually hurting himself.
- 15:56That's smart. Yeah.
- 15:58And there were several deaths that were rewritten, which
- 16:01rewrites are never surprising when we have as many writers as
- 16:04are listed here. But one of the big things was
- 16:07Kenny's death ended up getting rewritten.
- 16:09He didn't even know the actor. Karam didn't even know what his
- 16:14death was going to be until it was like being shocked.
- 16:17He's like, yeah, we're just doing like, death by 1000 little
- 16:20tortures. And eventually what they ended
- 16:23up doing was giving him the cut and half chainsaw kill because
- 16:26they didn't have a chainsaw kill written.
- 16:28Oh, really? Yeah, they didn't have a
- 16:31chainsaw kill prepared. And they're like, we can't call
- 16:33this a Texas Chainsaw movie without Chainsaw Kill.
- 16:37Even in the new beginning had one.
- 16:39Yeah, so we had that and we also had Trey Songz death was
- 16:45tinkered with quite a bit because he was always going to
- 16:47die in the car crash, but the way they were wanting to do it
- 16:51kept switching around. So at first they're doing a full
- 16:52body cast of them and then they just needed head and neck and
- 16:55they were going to put that in the crash.
- 16:57And they're like, no, we're just going to have Trey like on the
- 17:00ground and he's going to do this, but you already have the
- 17:02cast of his head. We'll take that.
- 17:05We're going to put it in a bucket in the cellar.
- 17:07OK, Yeah, I do remember seeing that head.
- 17:09Yeah. OK, well, that makes sense.
- 17:11Yeah. So those are those are the main
- 17:15like little factoids I got about this.
- 17:19OK. And that's all.
- 17:19Good stuff, right? There, Yeah, yeah.
- 17:21I thought it was all pretty interesting.
- 17:23I would have kept going but my tablet was giving me fits and I
- 17:29had the potential to lose the stuff I already had written down
- 17:32so. Yeah.
- 17:33That's why we're doing this way this week.
- 17:35That's OK, it works just fine all right.
- 17:39Now I guess we go on to good, bad, ugly and absurd serving
- 17:43with. You OK?
- 17:45All right. So, yeah, we have hyped it up
- 17:48this entire time. Jesse and I are fans of this
- 17:52movie. There are things to enjoy about
- 17:54it. I think I'm seeing a lot of
- 17:55people coming around on this one.
- 17:57Yes, we had some good conversations with some of our
- 17:59friends about it last weekend too, and they're like a lot of
- 18:02things that we hadn't thought of before too, so I'm really
- 18:04excited to. It was more positive than I was
- 18:06expecting to be honest. But like the first thing that I
- 18:10like about this is this is the one, the first one to do like
- 18:13the legacy sequel with like the aged up villain slasher icon and
- 18:20like Halloween 18 did it. I feel like it gets all of the
- 18:25credit for it. But I think we need to give this
- 18:27movie credit for doing that too, because I thought that that was
- 18:29actually pretty well done. And I I like the way that they
- 18:33handled it in this one. I I mean, it does kind of
- 18:36confuse the whole timeline even more because we, we've created a
- 18:40brand new one again. But you know, I, I, I like what
- 18:44they did with it. Yeah, if we're gonna excuse
- 18:46Halloween for doing that, then. But The thing is, Halloween was
- 18:50way more consistent. Like there were, there are
- 18:53splitting timelines, but there's not as many as there are in this
- 18:56franchise and we're already getting another one.
- 18:59I'm just saying in terms of the like legacy.
- 19:02Oh yeah, characters. Yeah.
- 19:04Another thing I I like the chainsaw chases in this movie.
- 19:08I feel like they did a really good job with it.
- 19:11That's the thing that I feel like was missing in the last one
- 19:15and the last few to be fair. Like the remake has decent ones,
- 19:19but this one right here. I love that scene of him chasing
- 19:23Heather out of the house into the graveyard and then I get
- 19:26leads all the way to the road, all the way to the amusement
- 19:29park. I love that we kind of right or
- 19:33wrong with him attacking the van cuz how many versions of this
- 19:37movie have we seen the final girl getting away at the end And
- 19:39he just kind of like grazes the car and he's like, yeah, but
- 19:42this time he was like actually digging in, Got the wheels.
- 19:46He learned his lessons and I appreciate that.
- 19:50Like another good thing that I liked about that scene, I don't
- 19:52know, there's just so much about that is I like that.
- 19:55Like he tried to ran his way through the gate and it didn't
- 19:58work. Yes.
- 19:59That was so cool because like you expected to just bust open
- 20:02like in movies but no like no it fucks up your car.
- 20:05I kind of like it too because both of them are like no, give
- 20:07the gate room to move and Ryan's like Nah, I'm just going to bust
- 20:11through it. I also love that we finally let
- 20:15Weatherface shine by himself. It's not the family that's still
- 20:19in the spotlight for him. This time we actually get to see
- 20:22how does he operate on his own and like he's still the same.
- 20:26He doesn't need the family there giving orders for him to be like
- 20:29this. And you don't need to have like
- 20:30the cook and the dinners and shit like that for him to have
- 20:33his time. Like he like, I like how they
- 20:36did that. He goes, he gets these people,
- 20:38he takes them to his basement and like people keep fucking
- 20:41with them and he keeps like getting them like.
- 20:43I think it ultimately he is still consistent because he is
- 20:46attacking people that are breaking into his house.
- 20:51He doesn't realize that one of them owns the house.
- 20:53He doesn't know, but to be fair, she didn't follow the one simple
- 20:57direction. She had to read the letters.
- 20:59And he was so clear about that, too.
- 21:01He's like read the. Three times he's like, be sure,
- 21:04be sure to read it. Verna Vera thorough.
- 21:06She explains everything in this letter and that's the first
- 21:09thing he says when they meet up at the bar.
- 21:11Like a little shit. He's like, did you not read her
- 21:12letter? Whoa.
- 21:14Valid question. It is.
- 21:16And yeah, like, I mean, I just, I like that.
- 21:19Yeah. And I, I just think the movie
- 21:22moves at a really good pace. Like, really you think like,
- 21:25like when you get to that scene of him chasing them, like it
- 21:28just doesn't stop. Like, it goes from there.
- 21:31Like, it goes into the town and then the cops go over.
- 21:33Like I I think it all just flows so nicely.
- 21:36Yes, I think that's the thing that a lot of movies around this
- 21:39time frame kind of like suffered from because it's like we're
- 21:42trying to add too many plot points like they this and this
- 21:44and this and this and this. And re watching this last night
- 21:46I was pleasantly surprised at how simple it really was.
- 21:50Yeah, me too. Like, I mean, it all makes
- 21:53sense. It's not like all outlandish
- 21:54shit. Like people like came to his
- 21:56house, he chased them away, went into the amusement park and then
- 22:00like went back and then the cops go and investigate and, you
- 22:02know, like it. It just all naturally falls into
- 22:05place. And I don't know, I liked it.
- 22:07I thought the story was actually really good for a sequel.
- 22:11Yeah. Good flow, good runtime.
- 22:12Just I like this movie man. Yes, I agree.
- 22:16So one of the things that we've talked about with a lot of these
- 22:19sequels, as much as we love them, there's before a lot of
- 22:22them, there's not a lot of variation.
- 22:23Somehow they get to this town, they get broken down, family
- 22:27captures them, they have dinner, get tortured a little bit more.
- 22:31There's a little bit of variations on the theme.
- 22:34I think obviously we could point out a couple that deviate more
- 22:36than the others, but that's been the same general gist.
- 22:38And this is this is such a nice, right?
- 22:41Yes, we're still getting them to the town, but things are
- 22:45different now. First of all, this family is not
- 22:47the only family in town. The whole town is evil, but
- 22:51they're evil different from the Sawyers.
- 22:53I love that twist. It kind of makes the Sawyers
- 22:55into the good guys in the end, you know?
- 22:57Like as we've been singing since 1973, kind of on Teen
- 23:02Leatherface. Don't go into a stranger's
- 23:04house, yeah? Exactly.
- 23:05Yeah, and now this, like, it even adds to that bit of lore,
- 23:10and I think that's just so great.
- 23:12I like that we still have the family ties, though, because
- 23:15that is such an important part of it.
- 23:16Like, I'm glad that it's Leatherface gets to be like the
- 23:20leader of his own thing because he's, you know, just by himself.
- 23:24It's. Yeah, it's an interesting to
- 23:25like explore that because it's always, I feel like everybody's
- 23:29always under the impression that he's under the direction of
- 23:32other people and like now like you get to see him on his own.
- 23:35Like how does he handle operating by himself?
- 23:38And to be fair, he was on his own for most of the first one.
- 23:40He got left home alone and he just wanted to like he had
- 23:43strangers coming to his house and he was like what the fuck?
- 23:45He's remember his little sad staring out the window that we
- 23:48talked about. One of the most heartbreaking.
- 23:50Moments. I also like that this one is
- 23:53really explicit about the makeup and the clothes and the shoes.
- 23:56Like we've always had that Pretty Woman mask.
- 23:58We've always talked about it. It's always been there.
- 24:00But I like that. Like this movie is trying to be
- 24:01like, yes, no, this is an important piece of this
- 24:04character. Yeah.
- 24:05And I like that we put it there and I just do this movie is
- 24:10campy in all the right ways for me.
- 24:12Like we get to this fair and people are like a mixture of
- 24:16scared, but also like I'm going to go get my cotton candy.
- 24:19She like climbs the Ferris wheel.
- 24:21It's so it's like the most impractical way to try and get
- 24:25away. But also you're in a fair, like
- 24:26we're going to take advantage of the Ferris wheel.
- 24:28It's so it's really fucking funny.
- 24:29We have so many parking lot like pedestrian car hits, hit and
- 24:36runs. They're not really running
- 24:38though, but like the number of pedestrians because I get hit in
- 24:40the parking lot in this movie is higher than it should be.
- 24:45The fucking newspaper just being with the police evidence.
- 24:49I know, yeah. You know what?
- 24:50Newspaper who thinks is police evidence unless it's like
- 24:53actually evidence. It's not like they have it in
- 24:55there as a recap of the things that happened.
- 24:57This sound is not ran like most times and.
- 25:01Bert is just like he's a whole other level, like he is chewing
- 25:06on his lines. I love it so much.
- 25:09And then at the end his death is extra funny because technically
- 25:13a chainsaw death but also not really cuz Leatherface uses the
- 25:16chainsaw to cut his hands off. So he falls into the grinder and
- 25:19then just his little yeah kicking the hands down after it.
- 25:24What the whole do you think 'cause?
- 25:26It's not only that. Yeah, there's like a couple of
- 25:28lines that like, like I think I like a lot of initial reactions,
- 25:32like, oh, this is bad. But I lean towards the campy
- 25:35too. Like when Nikki, like, shoots
- 25:37the shotguns. Like welcome to Texas,
- 25:38motherfucker. Hey, he lives in Texas.
- 25:41You are now you're. You're welcome to.
- 25:43Texas. That would have been a better
- 25:45line. I'm welcome to Texas.
- 25:46Motherfucker. Just put this shotgun through
- 25:48there. Like it also not only does it
- 25:50like you're firing at them, but you're also confusing them.
- 25:53Like what the fuck is she talking about?
- 25:54Yeah, so I just, I this movie is just fun, and that's all I want
- 26:00from a Texas Chainsaw movie. I want fun, and I get that from
- 26:04this. Yeah.
- 26:05OK. Alright, some bad stuff.
- 26:07Yes. I feel like in the beginning,
- 26:11the amount of callbacks that we get to the original, it is a
- 26:14little excessive and it kind of took me out of it every now and
- 26:17then, like here's an armadillo, here's the butt shot, here's
- 26:20like all of this. You know what I mean?
- 26:22I even made a note. I was like red short butt shot.
- 26:24Yeah, it's just like, I get it. This is a sequel to The Texas
- 26:27Chainsaw. We understand, we know like it.
- 26:29Every other movie has done that at this point.
- 26:31Like, OK, let's, let's let this movie stand on it's own for a
- 26:35little bit. We don't need all of these,
- 26:37like, gratuitous callbacks and stuff like that.
- 26:40And the final thing is I think Heather's Whiplash character,
- 26:45Whiplash is it's a lot like she's suddenly, as soon as she
- 26:50learns she's a Sawyer, she's like, oh, I'm unhinged, I got a
- 26:52knife. I'm going to like start stabbing
- 26:54through the cop car. And, you know, I fully embrace
- 26:58being like a cannibal killer family person, you know?
- 27:01Yeah. And it's just like, you need to
- 27:03process that. Like she's read the newspaper
- 27:07about how her family was. She's like, all right,
- 27:09understand the whole family history.
- 27:10I know my role in this. So I'm going to be crazy now
- 27:15pretty much that. It's just it comes out of
- 27:16nowhere. It's it comes out of nowhere,
- 27:19but also like so she's been terrorized, chased by this guy.
- 27:22Then she talks to Farnes words. She's like, well, that's your
- 27:25cousin. And now she's putting together
- 27:29the pieces of what she read in the evidence, and that's when
- 27:33she decides, OK, we'll figure out Jed in a minute.
- 27:36Right now, all of these cops are trying to kill me, and they're
- 27:38also bad people. Yeah.
- 27:39Cops and mobs. Yeah.
- 27:41So I don't know. You're right.
- 27:43It would have been nice to have a little bit more growth with
- 27:45that. Yeah, it is just too sudden for
- 27:47me. For me, there were just a couple
- 27:50of things. CGI meat grinder at the end,
- 27:53you've got candy we didn't need. We didn't need that.
- 27:56That would be like something out of Buffy Season 2.
- 27:59It's. Yeah.
- 28:03I thought the beginning. Also, like the flashback
- 28:05sequence with the Sawyer standoff, it wasn't grimy enough
- 28:08for me. So what'll it be?
- 28:10Yeah, I wanted it to be a little sweatier and dirtier.
- 28:13Isn't it also weird that like in the original movie, it's just
- 28:17the three of them, but now suddenly they got a whole
- 28:19fucking flock of a family at their house?
- 28:21No, that's part of what I like about this movie, because it
- 28:23makes no fucking sense, but I'm still OK with it.
- 28:26It's just a lot. There's a lot of people, like
- 28:28suddenly the whole goddamn town is living in this house like
- 28:32that was, and it's the same day, like it's immediately after the
- 28:35event. So that movie and now
- 28:37everybody's there. Yeah and then the other thing is
- 28:43the boob tape on Heather's shirt at the end.
- 28:46And we were talking about this with Johnny from the Patreon
- 28:49last weekend. Hi Johnny.
- 28:51Like that scene her shirt getting split open was only just
- 28:55to show that scar. And first of all there are a few
- 28:57things that are not realistic. 1 is that the shirt would lay the
- 29:00way it is is clear scub boob tape on is keeping that shirt
- 29:03from I think that nipple. Well, I think like reason #1 why
- 29:07they did this is because they wanted to get some like
- 29:10Alexandria Daddario boob action. Which she's hot so.
- 29:14I get it. But also like, why are we
- 29:18ignoring the Texas Chainsaw staple white tank top?
- 29:22That would also show the scar right there.
- 29:25Like we there's a lot of better ways.
- 29:26Yes, yeah. For sure.
- 29:27It was just clunky and it felt very much like Alexandra's
- 29:30Dario's hot. And I'm like, yeah, we've been
- 29:32watching her on our screen, but I'm just.
- 29:35It's just like, yeah, like that shirt would not be covering the
- 29:39nipples. Yeah, it would not lay that way.
- 29:41It's just. Different like a.
- 29:45Do the Jessica Biel, is it Biel? Is she the one that was in the
- 29:48remake? Yeah.
- 29:49Do the route of like white tank top and get it wet if you need
- 29:53to desperately highlight reviews.
- 29:54That's true, that works really well too.
- 29:57So that's just, those are little moments that like Take Me Out in
- 30:02a way that like don't feel as fun and silly and can't be as
- 30:05some of the other things people complain.
- 30:07About yeah, yeah, I can feel about.
- 30:10OK, so some ugly stuff. Well, I think easy is the mob
- 30:15justice mentality that we get from the town folk there.
- 30:19Yes, they were right to be mad at those people.
- 30:22They're killing innocent people. I mean, yeah, they came to their
- 30:26house and walked in. I think that they would have
- 30:28left if you would have said, hey, get out of my house, you
- 30:30didn't have to chainsaw eat them.
- 30:32But you know, like you don't do your thing 'cause you can do
- 30:35that if you choose to, I guess. Alone, he was just protecting
- 30:39the house. I he was just doing what he
- 30:41knew. I get that he needs to use words
- 30:43instead of like immediate actions such as chainsaw chase
- 30:47E. You know, like instead of the E
- 30:50pray love is chainsaw chase E. That's all right.
- 30:55There's one of. There's one of our three tag
- 30:57lines. Chainsaw Chase E.
- 31:00Chainsaw. Or live, laugh, love, eat.
- 31:03Yeah, there we go. Not eat, pray, love.
- 31:05That's like a book or something, right?
- 31:06Yes. OK.
- 31:07And also like the end of the movie, again, probably second to
- 31:13the Leatherface panicking and the original that I feel sorry
- 31:17for. I feel sorry for seeing
- 31:19Leatherface get beaten down by the mayor and Otis or whatever.
- 31:24Ollie. And he's just like, he's got the
- 31:26whimpers, man. You feel bad for it and you
- 31:28learn that he has the mentality of an 8 year old and then it
- 31:31just makes you sad. His face is bleeding because
- 31:33they kicked his face. They don't know his mask is sewn
- 31:35to his face. But we know, so we know it's
- 31:37more than just. Like it hurts, man.
- 31:39It's a fresh wound, OK? He's still like, like you said,
- 31:42beauty is pain. Yes, and he is still feeling the
- 31:44pain from that beautiful face. I just felt so sorry for him
- 31:48there. And, you know, it works in that
- 31:51moment because you're supposed to, like, be in a weird way,
- 31:54rooting for him. Although, again, I always root
- 31:57for the killers in these movies. But yeah.
- 31:59I'm just team don't trespass so. OK, that's.
- 32:03Fair, I'm going to see your mob mentality and raise you one baby
- 32:09stealing. Yeah, baby's stealing another
- 32:12common thread in these movies. Yeah, this time they gets she
- 32:16gets stolen from the Sawyers. And because Newt is possibly the
- 32:20most corrupt police sheriff station we've ever like, I've
- 32:24never seen such incompetent sheriffs as we have in the Texas
- 32:28Chainsaw franchise. To be fair, the sheriff is
- 32:30awesome. The mayor is a fucking dirtbag.
- 32:33He does not have a lot of backbone.
- 32:34Against the mayor, though, he doesn't.
- 32:36But then again, like, you know, I think like, he's kind of got
- 32:40it stacked up against him. He's the only good cop there.
- 32:43And like the Mirror has everybody else on him, like, you
- 32:45know, he's going to get mobbed. I'm also going to say I don't
- 32:49like when Marvin went in the house and was saying things I'm
- 32:53not going to repeat about leather faces like clothes and
- 32:57makeup that he has in his room. You're in his room, man.
- 33:00You don't. Do you have a warrant?
- 33:02No, no. Probable cause leading inside
- 33:07the house. I think that that's fair.
- 33:08It's Texas. How do they know it wasn't like
- 33:11a slaughtered animal? Maybe the van with all the blood
- 33:15and chainsaw damage. Yeah, too much thought into this
- 33:21right here. You're right.
- 33:22Also Nikki and Ryan, and I like that.
- 33:24Like Heather just immediately doesn't even care because
- 33:28there's more things going on. I'm glad that she just glosses
- 33:31over it. She's so amazed by the house
- 33:34that she doesn't give a fuck that her best friend is having
- 33:36an affair with her boyfriend. Yeah, yeah.
- 33:40So those are my uglies. OK, well, let's move over to
- 33:44absurds. First off, I think it's pretty
- 33:47rude that the family and the cops are like, yeah, it's this
- 33:50is all Leatherface, right? Like everybody, the entire
- 33:53family had like dealings with the shit in the beginning.
- 33:57But when like the cop, the sheriff shows up at the house,
- 34:00he's like, just give me your son.
- 34:02You know what's Jed? You know, like, I think that
- 34:04that's a little bit, I don't know, like the, the people were
- 34:07like out in the open kidnapping people, like with a sack and a
- 34:10broom and shit like that. I don't know, I I think that
- 34:13that's a little bit weird. I think, what the fuck does this
- 34:18mean? Meat and carcass are Oh yeah,
- 34:21meat and carcass are run in the family.
- 34:24That's right, because. Oh, she's, she's working in the
- 34:27meat department and she does her little bone crafts.
- 34:29Exactly. Yeah.
- 34:30Like she was born to be a Cyrus, and she's working on me and
- 34:33she's got like, yeah, like bone art.
- 34:35Just like weather face. She takes after him.
- 34:37This movie hands lands heavily on the nature side of nature
- 34:42versus nurture. I had a final one, but I don't,
- 34:46I guess I got like distracted because all I wrote was leather.
- 34:50Didn't get what was I going for there?
- 34:53I don't know. Maybe it'll come to me as we
- 34:55talk about it. My observance are Bill Mosley
- 35:02calling Sally Hardesty bitch meat bitch.
- 35:06Meat. Yeah, he's like, you let that
- 35:07bitch meat get away. It's so gross.
- 35:11But it's also, I've never heard that phrase and it just like
- 35:15caught me off guard. Man, yeah, it's so actually just
- 35:18thinking about it, it's so weird.
- 35:19Like that entire scene, it's just nothing.
- 35:21But like previous cast members from all the other movies, it's
- 35:23a. Reunion.
- 35:24It's weird to see him be the cook, although I feel like he
- 35:26does do a good cook voice but seeing him.
- 35:29Yeah. Like looking at the cook from
- 35:31the first movie and then now seeing Bill Mosley, it's just
- 35:34like, too much of a physical difference for me.
- 35:37Yeah, they should have like given him some makeup or like a
- 35:39wig or something. Yeah, we know Bill Mosley will
- 35:42shave his head if he's asked to. Yeah, or just make him chop top,
- 35:45you know, like just throw a chop top in this opening and I think
- 35:47we'd all be happy. The worst sheriff department.
- 35:53They are terrible. Yeah, like newspapers, let's
- 35:56say. Evidence.
- 35:56Yeah. And then also there are moments
- 36:00when Jed is like hitting people with meat tenderizers and other
- 36:07such things, and he makes a sound that sounds like the big
- 36:10swamp in Super Mario 64. Yeah.
- 36:15And that just took me out a little bit.
- 36:19But those are my, those are my main absurds.
- 36:22All right. Well, I guess that means it's
- 36:25time for us to rate. Yeah, man, I think actually
- 36:29sitting down and taking notes and watching this movie
- 36:31seriously again instead of just throwing it on it made me
- 36:35appreciate it even more this time around.
- 36:38I've said it before, this is my comfort Texas.
- 36:40Chainsaw. It's a good one.
- 36:42I'm gonna give it an 8. I like this one a lot.
- 36:44All right, I'm giving it a nine. Fuck everybody that's making
- 36:48faces at their phones or computers right now.
- 36:50I love this movie. Damn.
- 36:53So 8.5 starting average. Suck it, IMDb.
- 36:57Yeah, it's like double your score, fucker.
- 37:01OK, cool. Let's talk about it.
- 37:03Let's talk. About it.
- 37:05So we start off, we've got a voice over of Sally recapping
- 37:09what happened in 1973. Units are called to the house
- 37:14and Drayton says that Jed was just protecting his house.
- 37:17Yes. OK.
- 37:19So we have to talk though. So we there's an alternate
- 37:22opening, OK, it's mostly the same with additional shots and
- 37:25some of the things restructured. I want everybody to know I told
- 37:28Travis last night that somewhere out there, the monkey paw that
- 37:33is assigned to me curled its finger out because I've been
- 37:36begging to know what happened to the truck driver.
- 37:39Oh, yeah. So in the theatrical edition, we
- 37:41don't see this. Like, it's like we in the
- 37:43alternate opening, it starts with Bill Mosley going into
- 37:46Weather Faces Lair, and he's like, you did this.
- 37:48And then the camera pans a little bit to the right and you
- 37:51see the trucker. He is on a meat hook.
- 37:53He died. He did not get away.
- 37:55And to emphasize is the point even more, they show his truck
- 37:59on the side of the road. Well, that was gonna be there
- 38:02the entire time that guy left that shit.
- 38:04He's like, fuck it, new career for me.
- 38:06I'm not gonna be a trucker anymore, or I'm just never
- 38:08coming to Texas again. Yeah.
- 38:09So he was not still running to this day.
- 38:13Our IP trucker. Which that was one of her polls
- 38:17too. Like if he like, like who's the
- 38:19fastest? And now I know that he's at the
- 38:21bottom because I go to face like dance in the street and still
- 38:24manage to go and catch up to him and bring him back.
- 38:26And we've already we established leather phase is not athletic.
- 38:30He had an injured leg in this moment here.
- 38:32He had a chainsawed and he still caught up to that guy and killed
- 38:36him. And he had probably like he had
- 38:38a chance to go a long way. But yeah, that's just sad, man.
- 38:42I I hate that monkey paw for sure.
- 38:44Girl, I do want to say that I like the the editing of this
- 38:49alternate opening a little bit better.
- 38:51Yeah, I think it's a. It flows a little better for.
- 38:53Me, you get some more scenes, just a little bit more.
- 38:56Yeah, I did. I think I liked it a little bit
- 38:58better too. But yeah.
- 39:00So the sheriff arrives, yeah, call us for real.
- 39:03Other face to come out. And then the family just decided
- 39:06amongst themselves like, yeah, like just give him other face.
- 39:09Like he's not. Right.
- 39:11And I like Drayton's, like I'll send him out, but he's getting a
- 39:13good lawyer. And the sheriff who they have de
- 39:16aged with a very badly done wig that they just slapped a hat on
- 39:21top of so they didn't have to try and make it like.
- 39:23Yeah, yeah, they did a bad job for both.
- 39:25Of them I wish they'd just done the saw backwards cap.
- 39:29I just wish they'd done that with.
- 39:31It as a sheriff, yeah, I guess they're the whole cop like
- 39:36department yeah, like they're kind of informally dressed
- 39:39anyways, they're wearing blue jeans, you know yeah, yeah.
- 39:43So they decided, yeah, they're gonna, you know, send them out,
- 39:45but everything. Everything was going to be fun,
- 39:48but then Bert Hartman or Bart Hartman, Bart Hartman,
- 39:52whichever. You Bart Hartman now, because
- 39:54he's about to hurt a man. That's how he chance.
- 39:58That's what, yeah, that's how he goes since the mode right there.
- 40:01It's it's like, and I still know what you did last summer.
- 40:04Where Ben's son? Yeah.
- 40:06Hi, Dad. Yeah, they they ride in with
- 40:11their mob and they're like, I heard he he killed him.
- 40:15So they're like, fuck it, we're going to torch this house.
- 40:18We got Molotov cocktails. We're going to throw it inside
- 40:21the house and we're going to start a shootout.
- 40:24And that's what goes down. The Sawyer family pretty much
- 40:27gets obliterated. They're all on fire.
- 40:30Are not very good shots. No, they're pretty terrible.
- 40:32I don't think they hit a single person.
- 40:34Yeah, they're. It's bad.
- 40:37And yeah, the house burns down and they think that they killed
- 40:41everybody and it's now night time and they're all digging
- 40:46through the ashes. One of them finds a chainsaw.
- 40:48He's like, I'm going to put this over the bar, which has this
- 40:51whole bar decoration. I'm not going to lie.
- 40:53But it's also evidence, yeah. But this is again, like, it's
- 40:57OK. We'll we'll replace it with a
- 40:58newspaper. Yeah, it'll be fine.
- 41:00Yeah, and the newspapers, they're taking a photo of them
- 41:03like, yeah, we're, we're super happy about this.
- 41:05Newt's a fucked up town, people. Yeah, I didn't even think the
- 41:08check is in a real place. I mean, I'm kind of curious.
- 41:11I I I'm sure it probably isn't, but Texas is a big state, so.
- 41:15It is. That's true.
- 41:16Newt, Texas. It's a region in.
- 41:22No, it's fictional. No fictional.
- 41:24I started reading too. Really.
- 41:25OK. Well, OK, so it's just that
- 41:27makes sense. One of the guys goes over to the
- 41:31side and is just kind of looking around the property and then he
- 41:34finds hidden is a mother and her baby.
- 41:38The mother is half dead, She is burnt pretty badly and she's
- 41:42holding the baby to her chest. And he said, OK, it's good, it's
- 41:47good, she's all right. And then he kills the woman
- 41:49just. Kicked her face.
- 41:50I thought it was maybe a knockout, but apparently it was
- 41:52enough of an impact to kill her. Right.
- 41:54She was not doing well. Yeah, that's true.
- 41:55She was barely hanging on. Then we cut to Oh well, we do
- 42:01see first that the baby has a burn on his chest, yes.
- 42:04Then we cut to meat packaging in the.
- 42:07The Modern. Area the deli section of a food
- 42:11store. Yeah, I feel like her ancestors
- 42:15would be a little bit sad. That's not like a classic
- 42:16slaughterhouse. She's just in like the daily
- 42:18department. She's.
- 42:19Making do with what she has, there might not be a
- 42:20slaughterhouse in the town she's in.
- 42:22That's true. We don't even really know where
- 42:23she is right now, I don't think. It's implied she's not in Texas.
- 42:28Definitely not because like I I guess I don't know actually
- 42:32because like, no, because the whole thing that's.
- 42:34The thing about going to New Orleans?
- 42:35Well, that's the thing. So like I was going to say,
- 42:37they're like, we're going to go to New Orleans.
- 42:40We need to make a pit stop in Texas.
- 42:42If you're going to Texas, you've gone past New Orleans.
- 42:45It depends on which way you're going though.
- 42:48I guess it's true. So are they on the western side?
- 42:50I don't. I guess I don't know.
- 42:51It's weird, you're right. I don't know.
- 42:53I feel like in any case, they were planning this four day road
- 42:57trip for Halloween in New Orleans.
- 42:58Yeah, and I feel like 4 days probably wouldn't be enough for
- 43:03this road trip regardless. No, probably not.
- 43:05Yeah. No, along with a pit stop in
- 43:08Texas which they they don't have that planned yet.
- 43:11First we have to meet Nikki and learn that she is best friends
- 43:15with Heather and Heather and her boyfriend Ryan set Nikki up on a
- 43:20blind date with one of his high school band buddies.
- 43:22Now was this marching band or did they have a band that played
- 43:25like teenage shows and in houses?
- 43:28Well, I think it's like that kind of band because I the I
- 43:32rationalized them having the van as him being a band guy.
- 43:35Like that was his band. So like, OK, we're gonna, this
- 43:37is how we're gonna get a van. You know the classic van for the
- 43:39Texas Chainsawk movie? I really like how multifaceted
- 43:42Kenny is as a character who we get almost no screen time for.
- 43:45Kenny was my favorite character, yeah.
- 43:47Honestly, he makes crepes. That's his go to move to impress
- 43:50a woman. And honestly, if somebody made
- 43:52me crepes, I'd be like, shit, I don't even know if I can make
- 43:54crepes. I don't even still understand
- 43:57the crepes, it's too foreign of a concept for me.
- 44:00I've never been treated by a man to some crepes in the morning.
- 44:04I'm so damn dude you're making me feel inadequate here and I'm
- 44:07already in the tiny. Chair.
- 44:09Yeah. Tiny chair.
- 44:10No grape hat, no crate paving. I know.
- 44:14I feel all bad. Yeah.
- 44:17So we now see her at her house. She's doing her weather face
- 44:22inspired art she. Just brings the bones home from
- 44:24work. And that is so fucked up.
- 44:28And then Ryan's like I thought we agreed we wouldn't bring our
- 44:31work home with this. Good.
- 44:33Yeah, Yeah. I think that that's a fair thing
- 44:35to say there, Ryan. Yeah.
- 44:37But can you? Imagine if I just started
- 44:39bringing bones home from work and you'd be like, what's that?
- 44:40I was like, I got something from work and you'd be like, what?
- 44:42No, what? No.
- 44:44Well. I think I'd be even more
- 44:45concerned considering where you were.
- 44:47Can you start bringing Bones home?
- 44:49It probably wouldn't be good, but she's got some mail and she
- 44:54opens it and it's her grandmother has passed away.
- 44:57Hold on. But first, before she even reads
- 44:59the mail, we have a moment of Ryan saying he loves her weird
- 45:03little birthmark on her chest. Yeah, cuz they're about to have
- 45:05some sex or something, yeah. Or something.
- 45:09I don't know. Yeah, I don't know what people
- 45:11can do in this situation. Yeah, so she reads and she's
- 45:14like, OK, well, I guess I need to go down to Texas now.
- 45:19Yeah, cuz her grandma died and he said I thought all your
- 45:21grandparents were dead. And she's like, yeah, Yep, so
- 45:24did I. So she goes and talks to her
- 45:26parents, who reveal that. They're not the bio parents.
- 45:30They say she was adopted, which I guess in the loosest of terms
- 45:34is true. Yeah, I mean, it sounds better
- 45:37than you were stolen. I mean, she's young right now.
- 45:41I have to assume she's like 2021 or so.
- 45:44So she probably hasn't been in a situation yet where she has
- 45:46needed her birth certificate. Yeah, but this, this was gonna
- 45:49get blown wide open at some point anyway.
- 45:52Yeah, that's true. Yeah.
- 45:53And her family kind of sucks. Like he, the dad is like, yeah,
- 45:58if I had, if I mind, I would have left you there.
- 46:00Your, your family was shit. It was a shit pile.
- 46:03We saved you from a shit pile, basically.
- 46:05Yeah, he also says, oh, your mom's uterus is fucked.
- 46:08Yeah, and the mom, the mom immediately jumps on the
- 46:11defense. He's like, what are you don't
- 46:12think we're good parents now, Huh.
- 46:13Huh. Huh.
- 46:14I was like, no, nobody said that.
- 46:15I just want to know the story of my real parents, that's all.
- 46:17But what is? But when she comes back, she
- 46:19chills around. She's like, I always thought
- 46:20those people were fucking weird. Yeah, yeah.
- 46:23And this is where he, she says. I got a pack, but I got to go to
- 46:27Texas, not New Orleans. And then surprise, Nikki and
- 46:30Kenny are there. Ryan knew she'd want to go deal
- 46:33with this. So they're going to go to Texas
- 46:35all together as a group before going to New Orleans.
- 46:37And I think that's a good friendship moment.
- 46:39It is, yeah. So we're seeing them in the van.
- 46:43They're Rd. tripping. They're doing like the most
- 46:45cliched and. Yeah, party time with bopping to
- 46:49some Trey Songz Yeah Trey song. Is this the Trey song?
- 46:54We there were two instances where like this could be one of
- 46:56Trey songs. I don't remember which song it
- 46:59was. That was definitely Trey Songz
- 47:01and like I recognized it from. Oh, it was later days.
- 47:04It was the later one, yeah. Yeah, so it's not this one.
- 47:07They are now on a gas station. This is my favorite Kenny moment
- 47:10because like they go like the 2 girls go in and get the snacks
- 47:14and then Ryan's like they're like hey it's okay.
- 47:17Like yeah that's a lot of snacks but I use your card and then
- 47:20Ryan's like oh that's okay because I use Kenny's card for
- 47:22the gas. He just turns like wait what the
- 47:24fuck? Where'd you get my card from?
- 47:25Man, that's not cool. I thought you're gonna say your
- 47:28favorite Kenny moment was him hitting this drifter in the
- 47:31parking lot. No, I just.
- 47:32Like the way that he delivered, like, hey, man, that's not cool.
- 47:35It was so authentic. Like, that's how I would react
- 47:38in that. Like, yeah, it was funny.
- 47:39It endeared me to him. And then also him running over a
- 47:43man endeared me even more because he drives and hits the
- 47:46hitchhiker. Also, why was the hitchhiker
- 47:49walking right in front of this van that had its lights on and
- 47:51was clearly about to start driving?
- 47:53I've always thought it was a calculated move.
- 47:55Yeah, I mean, I assume it is because he uses that.
- 47:58He was like, he's like, I won't see if y'all will give me some
- 48:00food or a ride. I'm going to Shreveport.
- 48:05And they're like, well, we got to go to Texas before we go to
- 48:07New Orleans. And he's like, that's fine,
- 48:09that's fine. So they let him in.
- 48:13We got a hitchhiker in the movie now.
- 48:15And he's not. He's not cutting people or
- 48:17taking inappropriate photos at this point.
- 48:19That's true. He's actually like, you know,
- 48:21having good chitchat with him in the the van there.
- 48:26So they get to the address that she was given and the lawyer
- 48:29pulls up. I think it's also ridiculous
- 48:31that new population of 2306. That's a lot more people than I
- 48:35would expected for this small ass town.
- 48:37I grew up in a town smaller than that.
- 48:39I'm glad that we actually have more townspeople in this, though
- 48:43I can't emphasize enough how nice it is to have somebody
- 48:46other than the Sawyers. It is nice to actually explore
- 48:49the city a little bit, like it's not just nothingness.
- 48:52Yeah, I agree with you there. And I like, you know, people
- 48:55assuming that they're there for the fair because that probably
- 48:57is the most exciting thing happening in Newt right now.
- 49:00So it's like, why else would you be here?
- 49:01Yeah. Yeah.
- 49:02But the lawyer pulls up and he's got all this stuff for.
- 49:06He says Verna was the solid of the earth.
- 49:07Not super popular around here, but I think she was pretty cool.
- 49:10Also, the house is yours. This is your place now if you
- 49:13want it. But the trust says you cannot
- 49:15sell it, so I don't know what happens.
- 49:17If she doesn't want it, it's. Illegal.
- 49:19Can you really make it? Like you can have it, but you
- 49:20can't sell it? I feel like that's like.
- 49:23I don't know how trusts work, but I know that they're pretty
- 49:26intense, so maybe so the gate? The code to the gate is O 819.
- 49:35Texas Chainsaw. Day right, August 19th.
- 49:38So he gives her a letter from Bruno, says make sure you read
- 49:41this. He says it about 10 times.
- 49:43He smacks her on the face with the envelope, rubs it under her
- 49:47nose. Reads it to her, but she's
- 49:49spaced. Out.
- 49:49Yeah. And gives her keys.
- 49:52There's keys to like all of the doors in the house.
- 49:53He's like, she was pretty particular, pretty safe about
- 49:57things. So they Kenny drives the van
- 50:02down the driveway and everybody else is just walking.
- 50:05I don't know why. I really don't either.
- 50:08It's because we needed to get the classic red Jean short ass
- 50:11shot from Nikki. Walking up to a house, although
- 50:14we've already got, like, there's a couple of those shots in this
- 50:16movie. Yeah, it's not just this one
- 50:18time. It's like they wanted to have
- 50:19like options for it and they ended up just liking all.
- 50:22Everybody likes an ass shot. Yeah, it's fast and furious.
- 50:25Yeah, I mean, and again, I'm not trying to objectify them, but
- 50:29Heather and Nikki, they are hot. So so they get in there and
- 50:34they're all like super impressed.
- 50:35The house looks really nice. I love how furnished it is.
- 50:38This is another piece that I love about this movie because it
- 50:41adds complexity to the Sawyer family because you've also got
- 50:44the Carson's. And I like to imagine Verna was
- 50:47like, she didn't like how Grammy and dirty the Sawyers are.
- 50:51And she's like, I'm going to take Sweet Jet in.
- 50:52I'm going to show them how it's nice to have a clean home with
- 50:55new furniture. I am so impressed.
- 50:58Like it's gay did now. Yeah, it's a fucking mansion.
- 51:01It is amazing. They have a wine cellar.
- 51:03Yeah, like this is a bougie fucking.
- 51:06House it is. This is what you have always
- 51:09asked about. When you're like, how rich are
- 51:10these people? And you see this, you're like.
- 51:12Now that the Carsons are rich, yes.
- 51:14Yeah, that was where the money came from.
- 51:16Yes. So everybody's going around,
- 51:18they're playing pool, listening to records while Heather visits
- 51:23her family graveyard. Because apparently the
- 51:25friendship support only goes so far is actually making it to the
- 51:28house. Yeah, do your grieving by.
- 51:30Yourself, you're bringing us down, Heather, Go go cry out
- 51:34there. And it's weird because like she
- 51:35sees her grandma's grave which is freshly dug, which is
- 51:38confusing because later it will not be dug.
- 51:40I was wondering about that too. Because we will find out later,
- 51:44Verna's body is actually still inside.
- 51:46Yeah, I know. I was confused about that too.
- 51:48Like did he dig up the body and put it up there while she was?
- 51:52Gone. I don't know.
- 51:53Yeah, I don't know. So.
- 51:55You're trying to like, it's like, hey, I watched this cool
- 51:56movie Halloween, and this guy did this thing where he put a
- 51:59body in a bed and it just seemed like a fun idea.
- 52:01OK, no, I'm going to call you out a little bit too, because we
- 52:04watched Fast and Furious 7 last night and we saw little Letty's
- 52:10tombstone. Yeah, dumb was about to bash
- 52:12the. Tombstone.
- 52:12And you were like, keep it as a souvenir.
- 52:15And I was like, OK, Michael. Maybe I was a little bit, you
- 52:19know, tainted by Michael's behavior in that movie.
- 52:22I grew up and watched it a little bit too much.
- 52:24But I think it would be cool to have your own tombstone as a
- 52:26decoration in the house. It's pretty awesome.
- 52:29I think it's pretty cool. Hope you are ready for the
- 52:31weirdest birthday gift ever next year.
- 52:33I would get a twin size bed and make that my headboard.
- 52:38Like honestly it would be amazing.
- 52:40OK. Every bit.
- 52:42Oh, and she sees her mom's grave.
- 52:44That's the point I was trying to get to.
- 52:46Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, what she assumes is her
- 52:48mom. I don't think she knows her
- 52:49mom's name. It's like right next to Verna's
- 52:52and I think it's like kind of it's like beloved daughter or
- 52:57something. So I think that's that's what
- 52:58we're supposed to extrapolate from it.
- 53:00Yeah. Well, yeah, we'll get.
- 53:01Confirmed because especially because date of death is August
- 53:0319th. Yeah, OK.
- 53:06Which would. Be the day after the Texas
- 53:08Chainsaw Massacre, because that happened the 18th.
- 53:11Did it they've they keep referring to it as the 19th?
- 53:14That's the day that the whole family was killed.
- 53:16It's the day after the sweater. Hold on.
- 53:18You're right. Yeah, the slaughter was on the
- 53:2118th and then everything kind of took place that next morning
- 53:24with the cops and all. The 18th, 18th.
- 53:27OK, so the day after. That's a weird.
- 53:29Thing that's but that's when the family gets slaughtered.
- 53:31The the mob didn't come until after like this this the
- 53:35massacre happened the day before.
- 53:36Yeah, yeah, OK, you're right. You're.
- 53:38Right mob was the day at the next day.
- 53:39OK, OK, we're all clear now. All right, whatever.
- 53:43Anyways, they are gonna go get some food from town and they're
- 53:46letting the hitchhiker, I don't remember his name, Daryl.
- 53:50Daryl. But he does this in a way where
- 53:53it seems like he's gonna get into the van with them.
- 53:55He says that he's gonna spring her steaks for them because
- 53:57they've been so nice to him. And he seems like he's about to
- 53:59climb in the van. And he goes.
- 54:00I'm gonna go clean up in the house.
- 54:02I'll hang out here. Yeah, and they're like, sure.
- 54:05Yeah. Like we just met you.
- 54:06We'll leave you here in the house.
- 54:07I'll. Just met you, just found this
- 54:09house. Don't have a an itemized list of
- 54:12everything that's in here. Certainly not insured.
- 54:15So they drive off and he takes this opportunity to ransack the
- 54:19whole place. He's digging up all of like the
- 54:21fixins and everything. And then he finds a secret.
- 54:24Door I like how he knocks the candles off the candlesticks and
- 54:27just takes the candlesticks yeah like the it's such a like nice
- 54:32nicely choreographed movie that the.
- 54:34Actor does he? It's really smooth.
- 54:35I'm curious how he determine what's of value.
- 54:38But you find a secret hidden door.
- 54:42You enter that door. He's doing a Jean Valjean in
- 54:44LES. Yeah, so he, he, he goes into
- 54:47the door, the secret door, and he explores the lair and he sees
- 54:53that they have a fucking wine cellar, which is pretty crazy.
- 54:57Into the wrong. Room wrong place, wrong time.
- 55:00Weather face right there hits him with a hammer and starts
- 55:02bashing his head. Yeah, and they had made a like a
- 55:06mold of his head and shoulders. They wanted him making like a
- 55:09face. So they had the hit to his head
- 55:12with a foam meat tenderizer and then they use a real tenderizer
- 55:16with a fake head and shoulders that they like put some cuts
- 55:20into and filled with blood. They didn't want it to be a huge
- 55:22blood splatter, but they wanted blood to come out.
- 55:24So they had one shot to get it right basically because of the.
- 55:28That was one of the things like seeing in that shot, that scene,
- 55:31like behind the scenes, it was so well lit, but then bright.
- 55:35And then in like it cut to the actual footage and it's so dark.
- 55:39They had to have done some like, editing to get it like that
- 55:42because yeah, it was. It shocked me.
- 55:45Yeah. Meanwhile, in town, Ryan is in
- 55:48the freezer section and Nikki comes and just grabs his crotch
- 55:51in. Well, he didn't seem into it.
- 55:54No, he said, Nope, we're not doing that.
- 55:56She was. Nobody's watching it.
- 55:57And he goes, listen, that was one time I had about 18 comic
- 55:59causes. And she's like, you were begging
- 56:02for it. And he's like, well, not now.
- 56:03Yeah, now I'm begging you to stop.
- 56:05Yeah, and Heather's out there getting some charcoal.
- 56:10I guess we're going to do some. Grilling.
- 56:11Yeah, I think it was like wood chips, like, you know, like
- 56:14Mesquite chips or something. That's what I think.
- 56:16That's what I assumed was happening.
- 56:17Yeah, and she's out there. And then one of the deputies
- 56:21stops by and gives his advice on what the best 1 is.
- 56:24Deputy Carl. Carl Little Mr. Nobody.
- 56:28Little. Nobody.
- 56:30And he's doing his best to put it on the moves.
- 56:32And she's like, he's like, hey, So what are you here for the
- 56:36fair? And she's like, no, I'm here for
- 56:38a house warming party, you know, house off of whatever St. has to
- 56:42go. Dead way or something?
- 56:43Yeah, pretty generic. He's like, oh, that's the old
- 56:45Carson house. And he's like, not anymore, it's
- 56:47my house. She's like and I guess I, I
- 56:49guess I am a Carson so. Yeah, I guess so.
- 56:52That's when Bert hops in. He's the mayor of this town
- 56:54because of course he is. He said, oh, my family and the
- 56:57Sawyers go way back. How about I take that place off
- 57:00your hands? And she was like, no thanks.
- 57:01He's like, sure, just name, Name the proud.
- 57:03And then he's like, oh, you're heart balling me, Huh?
- 57:05So your opening offer was to take it for free?
- 57:08Come on, man. Yeah.
- 57:10Oh, you want money for? All right then, All right.
- 57:13Look at Little Miss Richie Rich right here.
- 57:17She was right to get weird vibes from him right off the gate.
- 57:19She's like, I'm gonna hop in the van.
- 57:20Bye, bye. He, just like he, comes across
- 57:23as evil. Yeah, he really does.
- 57:24He's slimy, Yeah. So they get back to the house
- 57:27and they see what they assumed is evidence that Darryl ripped
- 57:31them off. Which to be fair, no, not to be
- 57:35rude to the dead, but if he hadn't died he would have just
- 57:38ripped them off. So.
- 57:39Yeah, true. And it really takes absolutely
- 57:42no time for them to get over it because they realized he didn't
- 57:44really take anything of value. Except they're drinking out of
- 57:47red Sillo cups instead of whatever glasses are left in the
- 57:50house. Yeah, but it's also that age
- 57:52where you don't give a fuck. You're partying.
- 57:53It's party time. Everybody's like cooking or
- 57:56smoking some. They're jamming to some tunes,
- 57:59playing pool, and Heather is just wandering the house.
- 58:01She sees family photos, and she realizes that the scar on her
- 58:05chest matches the S necklaces that all of the Sawyer women are
- 58:09wearing. Kenny finds the hidden door in
- 58:12the kitchen. He said, yo, guys, there's a
- 58:14Butler's pantry. He's so excited.
- 58:17Again, Kenny's probably the best character.
- 58:19In this movie, yeah. And he he wanders down there and
- 58:23he sees where Daryl's stuff is kind of just throwing all around
- 58:27the room. So he's asking, he's like
- 58:28hollering out for Darrell. And as he is there he sees
- 58:33Weatherface and he tries to run away, but Weatherface has a hook
- 58:36and he hooks his back and drags him down the stairs.
- 58:38Yeah. And the actor said that he like,
- 58:41there was no faking the shot because the camera needed his
- 58:44face, so he had to actually get pulled down the stairs.
- 58:46And he said he was like, bumping his elbows a lot.
- 58:48They offered to give him like they had made a prosthetic like
- 58:52sleeve. And they were like, you put this
- 58:54on your arm if you want to kind of give your elbow with some
- 58:57padding. Yeah, yeah, that that hurts.
- 58:59Yeah. So yeah, there's bye, Kenny.
- 59:04We'll miss you in the rest of this movie.
- 59:06Yeah, well, he's still alive. We'll see him again in a little
- 59:09bit. He.
- 59:09Won't be meaningful. No.
- 59:12Yeah. Nikki Bussen.
- 59:14And she tells Ryan like he needs to come see something.
- 59:15It's so fucked up. Oh, my God, it's so fucked up.
- 59:18It's so fucked up. So they get out to the barn and
- 59:22she's like, it's under that bucket, It's under that bucket
- 59:23in there. It's so fucked up.
- 59:24Just look, Just look. And it's a bottle of tequila in
- 59:27two shot glasses. And then he turns around and
- 59:29she's like in her underwear and she's like, tells you it's
- 59:31pretty fucked. Up.
- 59:33Oh yeah, man. Get it?
- 59:35This is where Heather walks into a room and meets Grandma Verna.
- 59:41Yeah, I was like really confused for a second, I guess.
- 59:44Now I bet you've like you've brought everything up and I'm
- 59:47now putting together like he must have got the body and put
- 59:50it up there while they were gone.
- 59:52Yeah, well, because he is alone for the first time ever,
- 59:56basically. You had somebody come to his
- 59:57house. Somebody come in.
- 59:58So he just wanted his grandma there to keep him safe.
- 1:00:01Yeah, I guess it makes. Sense and he comes from a house
- 1:00:03where they keep a mummified grandpa so.
- 1:00:06But he's still alive. Barely.
- 1:00:08Barely, but he's still alive. He was at the shootout also if
- 1:00:12you guys aren't paying attention.
- 1:00:13That's true, yeah. But yeah, so he just poor little
- 1:00:16guy just panicked and went and got grandma out of the.
- 1:00:19Yeah, I guess you do feel a little bit bad.
- 1:00:21So she freaks out and she heads downstairs stairs into the
- 1:00:25kitchen, and she finds Weather Face just kind of in there,
- 1:00:28chopping up a hand. And now he's like God damn it,
- 1:00:31why does this happen to me always?
- 1:00:34Fucking time. And then?
- 1:00:36He or just trying to protect my house.
- 1:00:39Yeah, So she runs out the door, he grabs his chainsaw and we got
- 1:00:42a chase on our hands, people. She runs out.
- 1:00:44No. No, no, no, no, no, no, no.
- 1:00:46She comes into the kitchen and he's like God damn it.
- 1:00:49And all this again. And knocks her out, knocks her
- 1:00:50out, drags her down to the where.
- 1:00:52That's right. Yes.
- 1:00:53And she comes to and she says Kenny.
- 1:00:55And Kenny's like, because then he gets cut in half by a
- 1:00:59chainsaw. Yeah, he is our only true
- 1:01:02chainsaw. Kill this movie.
- 1:01:03It's still sad, you know you need the chainsaw action in
- 1:01:06these movies man. More chainsaw kills.
- 1:01:08I think the threat of the chainsaw is enough to be scary
- 1:01:10though for me honestly. That's true.
- 1:01:12The sound and the chase is pretty good on its own, yeah.
- 1:01:16So she she manages to get loose while this is happening.
- 1:01:22So she runs upstairs. Oh, I didn't even, I didn't even
- 1:01:25make my joke that I made to you last night.
- 1:01:28It's right here in my notes. Now's your chance.
- 1:01:31Oh my God, thank you. He killed Kenny.
- 1:01:33Killed Kenny, that bastard. She runs out and he chases her.
- 1:01:40Yeah. And this is where she goes and
- 1:01:41hides in Grandma Vernon's coffin.
- 1:01:44This is, I remember, this is the first scene that they released
- 1:01:48when this movie was coming out. And whenever I saw this, I was
- 1:01:51like, fuck yeah. I am excited for this movie
- 1:01:53because I love this moment. Like he goes out, chases her
- 1:01:56into the graveyard, she hides in the casket, he chainsaws into
- 1:02:00the casket somehow. Manages to avoid her long enough
- 1:02:04for Nikki and Ryan to stop their sexing and say hey, what are you
- 1:02:10doing chainsawing in a graveyard this late hour?
- 1:02:13And this is when he comes running for them.
- 1:02:16They put a wooden board in the doors of the barn, which I said
- 1:02:20he's got a chainsaw that won't stop him, immediately followed
- 1:02:23by him sticking the chainsaw through the door.
- 1:02:25Being like I've got a chainsaw, this won't stop me A.
- 1:02:28Bunch of dummies. And then Heather shoots him with
- 1:02:31a shotgun and says I'm welcome to text this motherfucker.
- 1:02:33Yeah. I wish.
- 1:02:37So they think that they got him, maybe.
- 1:02:39But then, whoa, a van drives right into the barn.
- 1:02:42It's Heather you. Know what is this?
- 1:02:45So Ryan immediately has to take over driving.
- 1:02:48I think Ryan's got like some deep seated misogyny.
- 1:02:52He's like, yeah, he's like woman driver.
- 1:02:55Not my getaway vehicle. Thank God damn it you drove into
- 1:02:57the barn. He's supposed to stay on the
- 1:02:59road. I gotta take over as always.
- 1:03:01And he takes, and I think part of this is him being
- 1:03:04self-conscious because like Heather busted through the barn
- 1:03:07doors so he feels like he needs to bust through the gate.
- 1:03:10And Heather, she's like, hold on, I'm just hitting the clicker
- 1:03:12so the gate will open. He goes no time for that.
- 1:03:13She goes no, like literally it's starting to open now.
- 1:03:15He goes no time, floor it floors it kills the van.
- 1:03:20Boom, right into the gate. I like this shot of weather face
- 1:03:23just like running down the long driveway.
- 1:03:26I also like his dedication. Like they're in the van.
- 1:03:29He's like, I'm going to get Jin's still chasing after and
- 1:03:34the van. It's not starting but.
- 1:03:37They the engines flooded or something and they eventually
- 1:03:39get it to start enough to back up.
- 1:03:41So I think he can open and then they drive out.
- 1:03:44But by this point Leatherface has caught up so he like
- 1:03:47chainsaws all down the side of the van and hits the tires.
- 1:03:51They are shredded. This causes the van to wreck I.
- 1:03:54Love that shot of him doing that and you're like, oh, they're
- 1:03:56getting away. Oh no.
- 1:03:57And then it's just like out of focus shot of them, just like
- 1:04:00flipping over. It feels very reminiscent of the
- 1:04:04new Final Destination movie. Oh yeah, like in the background.
- 1:04:07Yeah, we won't spoil it. Not gonna spoil anything, but if
- 1:04:10you know, you know, yeah. So Weatherface is going to go
- 1:04:13investigate. Mr. Ryan is dead.
- 1:04:16He died in the crash. They're 10.
- 1:04:19You know what? It's about time somebody died in
- 1:04:22a crash in these movies because too many people survived car
- 1:04:25crashes in the Texas Chainsaw movies.
- 1:04:27That's true. But at the same time, like, you
- 1:04:30know, like you miss a death, like a chainsaw death
- 1:04:33opportunity there, you know, like he's just dead now.
- 1:04:36It's a little anticlimactic, but.
- 1:04:38I like it though because there's something about Ryan like
- 1:04:41insisting he has to be the one to save the girls and he causes
- 1:04:45his own death. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:04:47He he wasn't really smart in this moment here.
- 1:04:49I also like Nikki in the van before they crash where she's
- 1:04:52like, where's Kennedy like that she.
- 1:04:55Actually care about him, yeah. That man made you crepes and
- 1:04:58you're out here doing tequila insects with Ryan and.
- 1:05:01She's a very selfish woman. Yeah, yeah.
- 1:05:03She wants her cake and she wants to eat it, and she wants her
- 1:05:06friend to serve it to her. Exactly.
- 1:05:09So Weatherface has chainsaw and all over the van now and Graze's
- 1:05:13Nikki Heather gets out of the van and wears Weatherface away
- 1:05:17the chaser through the woods. Yeah.
- 1:05:19So we got a wood chasing, which I I like those two.
- 1:05:22Those are good for this and they leads to an amusement park.
- 1:05:25And I fucking love this. Just like Child's Play 3.
- 1:05:27If you take kids, if you take a chase like this into the
- 1:05:30amusement park. I love that.
- 1:05:32It's so fun. It's like because it's the
- 1:05:34opposite of what you're expecting it to be.
- 1:05:36The only thing that would make this better is if we remembered
- 1:05:39that it was close to Halloween and we had more people dressed
- 1:05:41up. Yeah, As it is, we do have a pig
- 1:05:44mask. Pig mask The fact that
- 1:05:47Leatherface could have been pig net I.
- 1:05:49Know why? Why couldn't Deputy Carl has
- 1:05:52been there as a private citizen, You know, he's dressed up as a
- 1:05:56as a pig mess. I it was a missed opportunity,
- 1:06:00like honestly, but whatever I always like it also is like you
- 1:06:05can mix the two franchises here. Should you?
- 1:06:07Probably not, but you can. I'm not going to be mad about.
- 1:06:09It like it would be like. I know how you like do it.
- 1:06:12You just like the chain dot saw. Boom.
- 1:06:16That's the movie title right there.
- 1:06:18Yeah. Like, and what we didn't see is
- 1:06:20that Tobin Bell is actually on one of the little cars on the
- 1:06:23Ferris wheel. And like.
- 1:06:25He's like. Make a note of that.
- 1:06:27Yeah, he's like, I need to go to the police station later and see
- 1:06:29who this lady is. Cuz you don't, you don't climb
- 1:06:33Ferris wheels if you're an upstanding citizen.
- 1:06:35This this lady needs a pig nap and how dare you get chased by a
- 1:06:38homicidal maniac. Yeah, I was gonna say that's the
- 1:06:40thing that upsets him, not the fact that like there's a person
- 1:06:42chainsawing. No, it's that she interrupted
- 1:06:44the Ferris wheel with her own bullshit drama.
- 1:06:46Yeah, he's having a good time. He's like, do you know how many
- 1:06:48people have to face their death every single day?
- 1:06:50I've had to face my death several times.
- 1:06:51So many times, yeah. Yeah.
- 1:06:54So she another thing, it's weird that, oh, this is my absurd.
- 1:07:01This is what it was. Weather Face didn't get shot
- 1:07:03here. He's in Texas and people like,
- 1:07:06that's the place where everybody is armed.
- 1:07:08Yeah. How did nobody step up?
- 1:07:10Where's the fucking good man with a gun right here?
- 1:07:12You know what I mean? Didn't happen.
- 1:07:15Nobody shot him. Yeah, so Carl takes her back to
- 1:07:19the police station and. You missed the best part though,
- 1:07:22the part where he gets it's his getaway.
- 1:07:25He does the like the chainsaw toss in 3D at the the cop and it
- 1:07:30like is enough for him to just like do his little yeah like run
- 1:07:33into the woods. You know what I appreciate that
- 1:07:36this movie did 3D and for the most part you forget that it's
- 1:07:383D. For the most part, yeah.
- 1:07:40But you have these moments right here and OK.
- 1:07:43I don't have, I have to make another divergent to this all
- 1:07:46franchise because we watched it in 3D the other day.
- 1:07:49Yeah. And the blood actually looks
- 1:07:51like blood. It's actually really good.
- 1:07:53It was a good experience. Yeah, it.
- 1:07:55Was a good experience but also how did it look so bad but we've
- 1:07:59got this maybe that was also made for 3D that.
- 1:08:02New technology. This is 2013.
- 1:08:04Five years. Also KNB doing the effects.
- 1:08:06Maybe that's true. Probably, that's definitely
- 1:08:08true. That whole we've talked about
- 1:08:11this. So the whole saw 3D shooting,
- 1:08:14production, everything was just. Why disaster?
- 1:08:16Yeah, OK. So yes, like you said, we get
- 1:08:22the chainsaw toss to the camera. We cut to the police station.
- 1:08:26Deputy Carl has taken, what's her name, Heather there.
- 1:08:30And Deputy Marvin is out of the crash site.
- 1:08:32So there's no victims on the scene.
- 1:08:34There's lots of blood and some chainsaw marks, and he sees a
- 1:08:37blood trail. The Sheriff Hooper says that he
- 1:08:41needs to stay with the van, and he is.
- 1:08:43Yeah, whatever. You're not my real boss.
- 1:08:45The mayor comes in and like I say, I'm going to have to tell
- 1:08:48you to go on in there some. Yeah, I'm gonna OK, let's talk
- 1:08:52about the Marvin part of this and then we'll talk about the
- 1:08:54Heather part of this because they're cutting back and forth
- 1:08:56between it. OK, So the Marvin part, like you
- 1:08:59said, he he wants, the mayor comes in on the radio.
- 1:09:04He tells Marvin to follow the trail of blood.
- 1:09:07And Sheriff Hooper says no, stand down.
- 1:09:11And the mayor says, you got your eagle on you, right?
- 1:09:14I don't feel like police stations issued Desert Eagles.
- 1:09:17This one does, yeah. I don't know man.
- 1:09:19That's where Bert puts all of the town budget towards is the
- 1:09:22police. Taxes go to that desert Eagles.
- 1:09:25Eagles. Yeah, I I like the fact that he
- 1:09:28also live streams this for them. Yeah, like it's pretty
- 1:09:31interesting, but they're like the.
- 1:09:32Type of thing that like we need to see horror movies embracing
- 1:09:35cell phones with. Yeah, well, people should on the
- 1:09:37next, not the next one, The one after the newest Texas Chainsaw
- 1:09:40for the live stream. Thing, but it's real.
- 1:09:42That's what would happen. It's true.
- 1:09:44Yeah. So, yeah, he's wandering down.
- 1:09:47He makes it down to the lair and he is like getting deeper and
- 1:09:49deeper. He sees weather, faces, bedroom.
- 1:09:53He's got a vanity. You know, he's got like a nice
- 1:09:56little set up in there. Yeah.
- 1:09:57He's got his makeup, his shoes, his dresses.
- 1:10:00And. It's all like, I'm glad that
- 1:10:02he's got a space where he is comfortable to be himself.
- 1:10:05Yeah, and then there's another room where he's comfortable to
- 1:10:07continue being himself, where he chops up his victims and there's
- 1:10:11all kinds of body parts and shit, and it's, it's bad.
- 1:10:14Yeah, so we see like the body parts from Trey, We see Kenny
- 1:10:18still there, and he goes over to the deep freezer and clearly
- 1:10:23this guy didn't watch any of the previous Texas Chainsaw movie.
- 1:10:26Because they all just pop up like that.
- 1:10:29He opens up the freezer and Nikki pops up.
- 1:10:31But like, I like this part. He's just like shoots her in the
- 1:10:34head. He's like, oh, Jesus.
- 1:10:35And then it's like the mayor's like, it's OK, it's OK.
- 1:10:37It didn't happen. Didn't happen it.
- 1:10:39Didn't happen, the phone gets disconnected and 1st like we
- 1:10:42didn't see anything. Yeah, none of this happened.
- 1:10:44Yeah. And then he gets killed.
- 1:10:46Marvin does. Yeah, it is.
- 1:10:48He gets killed by leather face. And leather face peels off his
- 1:10:52face, makes his new mask, right. And at the same time, he's got a
- 1:10:56copy of that photo of the mob from the newspaper slash police
- 1:11:02evidence file. And he crosses off Marvin's face
- 1:11:05and then puts his face on his face.
- 1:11:07And I love that. You know, I like the idea that
- 1:11:10that like everyone of them that he kills, he wears their face
- 1:11:13until he kills the next one. Yeah, I think that's a really
- 1:11:15cool detail. Yeah, I think it's it's poetic.
- 1:11:19And yeah, it's like he has his own little bulletin board where
- 1:11:22he's tracking down. And he even has, like, a picture
- 1:11:24of Sally on there, too. He's like, I'm gonna get her.
- 1:11:26She caused all this. Looks a lot like my grandma.
- 1:11:29That's weird. Yeah, that's a little bit.
- 1:11:32OK, so now over to the Heather events that were happening
- 1:11:34during this she so they. Carl brings her shirt because
- 1:11:39her little like punky emo shirt is covered in blood.
- 1:11:44And so she puts on this little button up shirt and then he
- 1:11:48takes her to talk with the sheriff.
- 1:11:50This is before they have called Deputy Marvin and he's like, and
- 1:11:53I pulled all the evidence from the from the Sawyer massacre and
- 1:11:57I also put the Carson files. So this is all here.
- 1:12:00And Carl knows what he's doing in this moment.
- 1:12:02We don't know it until later, but he knows what he's doing.
- 1:12:06He's trying to get her this this information so that way she
- 1:12:08knows why she's being killed later.
- 1:12:10You think that's what? She's doing.
- 1:12:11I think so. OK.
- 1:12:12I think that's what he's doing. OK.
- 1:12:14And then this is when the sheriff has to go deal with Bert
- 1:12:18and Marvin. So she's just sitting there
- 1:12:20alone. This is very scream three.
- 1:12:22You know where, Nevada. Going through the police files
- 1:12:24she's owned. The police files and she's
- 1:12:25reading all of this, this perfectly preserved newspaper.
- 1:12:29Listen, I don't care if that evidence box had been vacuum
- 1:12:34sealed. Newspaper falls apart like and
- 1:12:36weathers so quickly. It is insane that this like prop
- 1:12:41newspaper wasn't aged at least a little bit.
- 1:12:43Yeah, yeah, it's, it's perfect. It's got all the information she
- 1:12:47needs to. It's like she's just like, it's
- 1:12:50like all of these like quick shots of everything she's
- 1:12:52reading. But basically it's just like the
- 1:12:53family, like a list of who the family was.
- 1:12:56She realizes that it's like like who her mom is, like child
- 1:13:00unfound. Next time, her mom.
- 1:13:02Presumed dead. Presumed dead.
- 1:13:03They never found her body. She could be alive.
- 1:13:06I don't know, Maybe they were leaving that open for a future
- 1:13:10movie. But yeah, she gets all that.
- 1:13:13The baby was presumed dead. The baby was Heather.
- 1:13:16The mother was found deceased. It said found deceased, Yeah.
- 1:13:19OK, it said next to baby. Unfound.
- 1:13:21Presumed dead. OK, I was.
- 1:13:24Like, no, we know it doesn't need a sequel.
- 1:13:26We know where she is. She's right here.
- 1:13:28OK, OK. Forgive me.
- 1:13:29Forgive me. No.
- 1:13:30OK, little chair for life. Yeah, I'm banished to this
- 1:13:34chair. Yeah.
- 1:13:36So she's got all her information now.
- 1:13:38And she she. Had a penient red marker to
- 1:13:41write murderers across the newspaper with so that way she
- 1:13:43can leave and let them know that she knows.
- 1:13:45Yeah, cuz they they come back and she's gone and they find
- 1:13:48that Yeah, so. So that way she knows they know
- 1:13:50she knows they know. Exactly.
- 1:13:52So she goes to a pay phone outside and calls up old
- 1:13:55Farmsworth the lawyer. And he's like, hey, I told you
- 1:13:58to read this shit. I'm gonna tell you again for the
- 1:14:0050th time. Yeah, meet me at this bar so I
- 1:14:03can tell you in person again. So they meet up at a bar.
- 1:14:06And he's like, listen, I didn't read the letter myself, but
- 1:14:09Verna is a pretty detailed person and I would have assumed
- 1:14:11she would have just given you all the details about Jed.
- 1:14:13And she goes, I didn't read the letter.
- 1:14:14And he goes, well, you're stupid.
- 1:14:16Here's what you need to know about Jed.
- 1:14:18He is mentally stunted. I don't like the terminology for
- 1:14:22it, but. He has a mentality of an A year.
- 1:14:24Yeah, he's got. An intellectual disability
- 1:14:26disorder. So for him, because the last
- 1:14:32time he let a person get away, he lost his whole family.
- 1:14:36So unfortunately, even though he knows about you, he doesn't know
- 1:14:39what you look like or who you are.
- 1:14:41So he's going to keep coming after you until he gets you.
- 1:14:44You're going to need to find a way to let him know that you're
- 1:14:46actually his cousin. Also, the sheriff is going to be
- 1:14:50very ineffective at trying to stop the mayor from killing you
- 1:14:52because the mayor's going to get all of his buddies back together
- 1:14:54to kill you. Just so you know, I like that
- 1:14:59the mayor doesn't have like as big a group this time because we
- 1:15:02already know like Heather's parents moved that way from
- 1:15:05Newt. That's true.
- 1:15:05And, you know, some of them could have died.
- 1:15:07No, No. But yeah, it's a small crew.
- 1:15:09And they roll into the bar there, and Heather's like, OK,
- 1:15:13like, I got to go. And the Farnsworth guy
- 1:15:16intercepts and gets tossed on the table.
- 1:15:19He gets a. Horrible man.
- 1:15:20Yeah, he's just doing his job. He didn't do anything bad here.
- 1:15:23But she runs out through the back and she is running through
- 1:15:26the streets, gets hit by a car. It's not in the street, it's in
- 1:15:29the parking lot. In the parking lot in.
- 1:15:31The parking lot she gets hit by Ollie and she had taken a steak
- 1:15:34knife from the bar. What kind of parachute is this
- 1:15:36place serving? That's a good question.
- 1:15:38Is that just how Texas bars are? Apparently steaks all all over
- 1:15:43the place. But yeah, she uses it, stabs
- 1:15:46Ollie in the face and she she goes running, she flags down a
- 1:15:50cop car and it's Carl. And she's like, listen, they are
- 1:15:53trying to kill me. They beat up my lawyer.
- 1:15:56We need to go back and get him and and we need to go back to
- 1:15:58share Cooper. And they pass by the bar where
- 1:16:02the lawyer is outside very bloody and Bert is trying to
- 1:16:06clean up all these face and they don't slow down.
- 1:16:10And Heather's like stop, stop, stop.
- 1:16:13And then he gets a call from Bert, and Bert tells him to take
- 1:16:18her to the slaughterhouse. Yeah.
- 1:16:19And then he says, sounds good, dad.
- 1:16:23And she goes. And this is where she gets all
- 1:16:25like, Hannibal Lectry. Yeah, stabbed through the.
- 1:16:29Yep, She's just like, all right, I'm a, I'm a fucking Sawyer now.
- 1:16:32I'm a killer. She just embraces it fully.
- 1:16:36So she's up and the slaughterhouse, the cops drag
- 1:16:39her into there and they tie her up and Weatherface is cleaning
- 1:16:43up his own crime scene and he's willing in the cop car into the
- 1:16:46barn. Verna taught him how important
- 1:16:48it is to be clean and tidy. She's like, I don't care what
- 1:16:51kind of crafts you do with the carcasses, but you don't have to
- 1:16:53leave feathers and bones all over the floor.
- 1:16:55Yeah, so he learned to be tidy living with Verna.
- 1:16:58And, you know, it's for the best because as he's doing this, he
- 1:17:01overhears some police radio chatter and, like, meet us at
- 1:17:05the slaughterhouse. You know what to do.
- 1:17:06And then he's like. How are the slaughterhouse?
- 1:17:08And I love this. He's like, OK, I they're meeting
- 1:17:11there. This is my time for revenge.
- 1:17:13I need my special chainsaw. And he has a fucking gun rack of
- 1:17:16chainsaws. He goes over there, slides open
- 1:17:18the door. He's like, this is the good
- 1:17:19chainsaw that will do this job just fine.
- 1:17:22Gets it and starts walking. I.
- 1:17:23Want to know what kind of montage music is playing in his
- 1:17:25head in this moment? Oh man, this if this movie had
- 1:17:28that next to you. Farnsworth fills in Sheriff
- 1:17:33Huber on everything that's going on, and Sheriff Huber's like,
- 1:17:35God damn. It yeah.
- 1:17:36And then he's like, you know what?
- 1:17:38I know where they're going. Yeah, so I wrote.
- 1:17:41At this point, Heather has fully bought into the warning family
- 1:17:45thing, so she's like, all right, well, I'm a Carson, you're a
- 1:17:48Hartman. We can.
- 1:17:50No, she's embraced a Sawyer. She knows she's a Sawyer now.
- 1:17:53After reading them papers. Yeah, well, she knew it before,
- 1:17:56actually. But, you know, she she's fully
- 1:17:58embraced that lifestyle at this point.
- 1:18:00She's tied up. They cover open her chair, her
- 1:18:03shirt, and they walk outside to talk to the deputy.
- 1:18:08And then while that's happening, Leatherface is wandered inside
- 1:18:11the slaughterhouse, walks up right behind her and puts the
- 1:18:14chainsaw right on her shoulder. He's fucking with her.
- 1:18:17And he, like, gets down and puts his face next to hers.
- 1:18:20Like. Did he whisper something?
- 1:18:21Yeah, he. Was like, he is about to cut her
- 1:18:26and then he sees the edge of her scar and she's like and then he
- 1:18:33pulls the duct tape off her mouth and she goes I'm your
- 1:18:35cousin. I'm your cousin.
- 1:18:36It's me, Heather. I'm going to go out on a limb
- 1:18:39and say Verna didn't tell Jed that her cousin's name is
- 1:18:43Heather. She told her.
- 1:18:45She told him that her name is Edith.
- 1:18:47Oh yeah, probably. Yeah, because she assumed that
- 1:18:50Heather would have taken 5 minutes to read the letter.
- 1:18:53Everybody assumed that they assumed wrong.
- 1:18:58Yeah, a lot of this could have been prevented if she had just
- 1:19:00read the letter. But they're, they're now a team.
- 1:19:03And I I saw. He, I like it when he like,
- 1:19:06turns on the chainsaw for a second and you're like, is this
- 1:19:08gonna matter? But he just cuts for free.
- 1:19:10Yeah, so I I saw a good a name for the two of them together by
- 1:19:15somebody online. Heather Face.
- 1:19:16Heather Face. Yeah, it's so perfect, man.
- 1:19:19Like Oh my God, it like. That is their tag team name.
- 1:19:24That is, yeah. Heather Face.
- 1:19:25It's so good. So she's free and the cops come
- 1:19:30in and she runs away. She's like, all right, bye.
- 1:19:32She's like, bye, you can take care of yourself, right?
- 1:19:34Yeah. And she hears him crying because
- 1:19:36Ollie and Bart Bert. I don't know why I keep wanting
- 1:19:40to call him Bart. Because he's Bart hurt now.
- 1:19:42Because he's hurting Leatherface.
- 1:19:44Yeah. That's true.
- 1:19:44He's back into his evil entity. Yes, they're just beating a
- 1:19:49Leatherface. Making him cry, it's so sad.
- 1:19:53I made that new mask he so did to his face.
- 1:19:55It's sore. He just lost his cousin and he's
- 1:19:59like, well, I guess not everybody values family.
- 1:20:01But you know what happens? She comes in.
- 1:20:03She comes in and helps him. Got a pitch for it, kills Ollie,
- 1:20:06kills Ollie and goes over. Managed to turn on the grinder
- 1:20:09which they have a chain feeding and trying to drag Jed into it
- 1:20:14so she comes out. Bert Bart doesn't have a gun.
- 1:20:19No, I guess. Not does his city budget not go
- 1:20:21to his own weaponry. He seems corrupt enough.
- 1:20:24He wanted an old fashioned beating.
- 1:20:25Yeah, he had a crowbar. Yeah, yeah, he's, he's whooping
- 1:20:28him. And then Heather goes over there
- 1:20:31and grabs the chainsaw 3D tosses it to the other face and is like
- 1:20:35do your thing cuz. Yeah, and you know what he does?
- 1:20:38He does do his thing, starts it up the and he manages to get
- 1:20:43Swapparooski with Bert and Bert's getting pulled into the
- 1:20:48meat grinder and Jed just like cuts him at the wrist so he
- 1:20:52falls in and Sherry just watches the whole thing happen.
- 1:20:54Yeah, he like puts his gun down instead of keeping it pulled on
- 1:20:58him. He's like.
- 1:20:59So clean up this mess, Yeah, and Heather face.
- 1:21:04Heather Face. Jed looks loosening.
- 1:21:06It's like, listen, I'm gonna show you some stuff Grandma
- 1:21:08taught me. I'm gonna pass on.
- 1:21:09I'm gonna pass down the family traditions.
- 1:21:11I know that they want his name to be Jed Jedidiah.
- 1:21:15It's so bad, but I refuse to call him that.
- 1:21:17It's always gonna be Leatherface or Bubba.
- 1:21:19I just Jed was 3 letters so it was a lot easier for me to put
- 1:21:22that in my notes. If I ever need to do that, do LF
- 1:21:26or I'll just do leather. Yeah, I do LF a lot, but like we
- 1:21:29know his name is Jed and I feel. He's Bubba, OK?
- 1:21:33He's Bubba. Jed is the dumbest fucking name
- 1:21:35they could have given him. Whatever, they're home now.
- 1:21:38Yeah, they like slow walk all the way home.
- 1:21:40I like she is trying to clean up his cuts and then she goes to
- 1:21:43touch the mask and he like stops her.
- 1:21:45He puts a firm boundary in place.
- 1:21:47Yep. And we are proud of you, Weather
- 1:21:49Face. Good for you for having your
- 1:21:50boundaries. Standing up, this is going to be
- 1:21:52the healthiest family relationship that you've had.
- 1:21:54It's true. Yeah.
- 1:21:55Well, I don't know. She's kind of, she embraced that
- 1:21:58identity really hard and fast. I'm kind of scared to see how
- 1:22:01she goes. Well, we will find out in the
- 1:22:04post credits. So she finally reads the letter,
- 1:22:07she learns her birth name is Edith Rose and it seems like
- 1:22:10she's happy to just settle into this house.
- 1:22:13And then we get to the credits and then through the credits,
- 1:22:17bring a Ding Dong and her adoptive parents are out there
- 1:22:20saying like, maybe we can put up with some with some of her
- 1:22:23bullshit with all this money that comes along with it.
- 1:22:26And it's not Heather Edith. On the other side of the door,
- 1:22:30you just hear like a chainsaw starting up and then the door
- 1:22:32opens and it's the leather face with this chainsaw.
- 1:22:35Oh my God, he's he's good. And his revenge.
- 1:22:37Yep. And then he's probably going to
- 1:22:38wear that guy's face. Do you think he's?
- 1:22:40Probably going to make a face for her too out of the mom.
- 1:22:44I want that, Yeah, I want, I want.
- 1:22:47That's what I want. I know we don't do dream sequels
- 1:22:49for these, but that's my dream sequel is called Heather Face.
- 1:22:52And they're just wearing her adoptive parents faces and
- 1:22:55they've got chainsaws and stick knives and.
- 1:22:57We'll, we'll, we'll expand upon that here in a minute, OK.
- 1:23:01Well, we don't need to explain about it.
- 1:23:02We're not doing dream sequels. Oh yeah, we don't do that.
- 1:23:05Fuck covering our mouth out. OK.
- 1:23:06What are you rating it after we're talking about it.
- 1:23:09Yeah, man, I like this one. I think I'll keep it at an 8,
- 1:23:11but it's a really good sequel. I think I like it a lot.
- 1:23:15I'm keeping mine at a nine just because it's it's fun.
- 1:23:18It's fucking fun. Yeah, Talia, she was high energy
- 1:23:22throughout all of this. She was licky, she was hangry.
- 1:23:25She threw multiple tantrums like she again was siding with
- 1:23:30Leatherface. She was like, these people just
- 1:23:32keep coming into his home and bothering him.
- 1:23:34I yeah, I like it. It's so easy to get behind that.
- 1:23:37I think she's going to give this.
- 1:23:41She can't give it an 8 because we didn't see anybody really eat
- 1:23:44in this one. No, nobody ate.
- 1:23:46She's going to give it a 7. OK.
- 1:23:50Now they're together and it's like heaven.
- 1:23:52Yeah, that's it. Sure.
- 1:23:54Yeah, OK. Who's Zoe's Ultimate Warrior?
- 1:23:57Oh, boy, that's a tough one. I think it's, I think it's gonna
- 1:24:06be Heather because she plays with the real, like, the
- 1:24:10leftovers of her food. She's got the bones.
- 1:24:13I think Zoe, like, if like, she ate something that had bones,
- 1:24:16she'd like, make it a toy, OK. And yeah, Heather makes it art.
- 1:24:21OK. Yeah, I can agree with all of
- 1:24:23that. OK.
- 1:24:25All right. Who did you relate to?
- 1:24:28I, let's see who did I relate to?
- 1:24:37You know, I, I think I related to Kenny the most because I
- 1:24:43liked his, his version of partying.
- 1:24:45He's like, I'm going to cook some food, I'm going to drink,
- 1:24:47you know, just have a good time. I'm not going to try and sleep
- 1:24:49with anybody's partner or anything like that.
- 1:24:52I'm just going to be a good guy and I don't know, like everybody
- 1:24:56else, like I don't, I don't really relate to many other
- 1:25:00people in this movie to be true. I relate to the person in the
- 1:25:05pig mask at the fair. Oh yeah.
- 1:25:08If I was at a fair on Halloween time, I'd be dressed up.
- 1:25:10Not in the pig mask though, because the pig masks freaked me
- 1:25:12out. But.
- 1:25:13Pig masks are so good. I'd be.
- 1:25:15I'd be dressed. Like that, yeah, we we kind of
- 1:25:17glossed over that, but I like that like a little brief
- 1:25:19showdown between Leatherface and the pig mask because it's like
- 1:25:21chainsaw versus chainsaw and they get scared and ran away.
- 1:25:24Yeah, OK, OK, I've got some suggestions for tag lines.
- 1:25:30Well, it's so obvious man. Do you think cuz it's the what
- 1:25:34we've always used. But OK, go ahead.
- 1:25:36What else did you have? Tag lines are alternate names.
- 1:25:41Sorry, tag lines. OK, Yeah, go ahead with the tag
- 1:25:43lines all. Right.
- 1:25:44Well, you brought out chainsaw Chase.
- 1:25:46Eat. Yeah.
- 1:25:47So we've got that. I've got no Newt is good Newt.
- 1:25:54That's good. And face your demons.
- 1:26:00Oh that's good too. God, man, we got some we and we
- 1:26:04did 3. Yeah, we did 3.
- 1:26:06Oh, wow. OK, cool.
- 1:26:09Aw, man, that's so tough. No, new is good.
- 1:26:12New I feel like is appropriate for, like, putting on the sun.
- 1:26:15Like, welcome to Newt. No, Newt's good news.
- 1:26:17Like, you know, like God, it's so hard for me to pick between
- 1:26:23those two. Those are all really good ones.
- 1:26:26Yeah, I don't. You'd find a way to work them
- 1:26:29all into the drawing. If you that's too much, that's
- 1:26:32too much text. I have a hard enough time
- 1:26:33fitting one on there. No, like, OK, we have the
- 1:26:35Welcome to Newt sign and we've got Leatherface in his wine
- 1:26:40cellar with his little Live Laugh Love sign, but it's
- 1:26:42chainsaw chase each. Yeah, I guess you could do that.
- 1:26:47But you know what? You're editing this so whichever
- 1:26:52one is right in the moment for you, OK, after you've re
- 1:26:54listened to all of this, pick what's in your heart.
- 1:26:56We'll see what goes with the drawing.
- 1:26:58OK, OK, OK. Yeah.
- 1:27:01No, obviously this is the how we refer to this one.
- 1:27:04How we remember what it is is it's the do your thing cuts one.
- 1:27:07Yeah, that's the most iconic one.
- 1:27:08Yeah, the entire thing. Everybody knows which movie
- 1:27:10you're talking about when you say that.
- 1:27:11Yes. And that is like exclusively
- 1:27:14when you're like, which chainsaw do you want to watch?
- 1:27:16Also do your thing cuts. That's how I refer to this.
- 1:27:19Yeah. All right, so now it's time for
- 1:27:23some reviews. Okie, Dokie.
- 1:27:24And as we've discussed, we know this is not wait, wait.
- 1:27:27Wait, what would Dom do? OK, well, first of all, this is
- 1:27:34all about family, Yes. So Dom is gonna be heavily
- 1:27:38involved, but he's gonna have to get some help from Brian this
- 1:27:45time, OK? Because Brian is gonna know that
- 1:27:48what Heather needs to do is just tell Jed.
- 1:27:51Forget about Ka. Forget about KA, yeah.
- 1:27:55And then Dom is gonna have to come in because he's gonna say,
- 1:27:59OK, listen, I'm glad that we got this family stuff figured out.
- 1:28:02So we've got a bigger problem because it looks like little
- 1:28:04nobody has turned on us. Yes.
- 1:28:07But it turns out that he was a plant.
- 1:28:09Yes, in the police force. Because we don't see him.
- 1:28:12He doesn't get killed in this movie.
- 1:28:14He just kind of fucks off. Yeah.
- 1:28:17So yeah, he just disappears so. Yeah, I think he got extracted.
- 1:28:21It was all part of the plan of the group there.
- 1:28:24And, yeah. And really, the important thing
- 1:28:27is Dom is like, Heather learned the meaning of family, and
- 1:28:32Leatherface is learning, too, to, like, embrace new family.
- 1:28:36And, you know, Dom saw that. He's like, you know what?
- 1:28:38More work here is done. Yeah.
- 1:28:39And he just drives off into the sunset.
- 1:28:42OK. Here we go now reviews.
- 1:28:45Now reviews. Thank you for remembering WWDD.
- 1:28:49I was so unbelievably disappointed in this movie and
- 1:28:52it sickens me. If someone didn't know anything
- 1:28:54about the previous TCM movies, they would think this was just
- 1:28:57your everyday horny teenager horror movie.
- 1:28:59I believe that the TCM movies were always better than that,
- 1:29:01but now my opinion has changed. The movie started out good and
- 1:29:04had some good background information to later understand
- 1:29:06the present scenes. However, once we met the main
- 1:29:08characters of the movie, it was obvious that it wasn't going to
- 1:29:11meet my expectations. And the fact that Trey Songz was
- 1:29:13in this movie, even those acting skills were better than I
- 1:29:15expected totally ruined it for me.
- 1:29:17Also, the makers of the movie made a huge error with the the
- 1:29:19main character's age should be at least 40.
- 1:29:22The killings were not that severe, the only 3D parts were
- 1:29:25with the chainsaw which didn't happen that much, and
- 1:29:28Leatherface was turned into the sweet character that you began
- 1:29:30to feel bad for. And don't even get me started on
- 1:29:32how Heather was acting at the end of the movie.
- 1:29:35Whole storyline was completely changed during the first half of
- 1:29:38the movie. It's just like the other TCM
- 1:29:40movies, but the last half turns into some weird love family
- 1:29:42reuniting story that I absolutely hated.
- 1:29:44Plus other movies really portrayed the fact that the
- 1:29:46movie was based off of a true story.
- 1:29:48This new TCM makes it seem more like fantasy horror movie.
- 1:29:51It's all just very confusing. It makes me feel like a woman
- 1:29:53with a glass of wine wrote the story.
- 1:29:55Wow. OK, that's weird.
- 1:29:58You know, like, I think everybody's like dropped the
- 1:30:00whole thing of it being based off of true events, so we can
- 1:30:03kind of roll with it being like a horror movie franchise at this
- 1:30:06point. And listen, I get that Heather
- 1:30:09should be 40 at this point. We're assuming that this takes
- 1:30:12place in 2013. Yeah.
- 1:30:15And she would definitely be older than that.
- 1:30:17I'm. I'm in an 8 with this.
- 1:30:21You know what I mean? Like.
- 1:30:23You can't sweep everything away and call it, well, it's just
- 1:30:26camp. But you know, at the same time,
- 1:30:28like when you don't do that and you don't put any thought into
- 1:30:31that, I don't know, it kind of adds to the campiness of it a
- 1:30:34little bit. But it's silly.
- 1:30:35It is an oversight. Like I, I will agree.
- 1:30:38Yeah, they should have thought about that one a little bit
- 1:30:40better. Yeah, in in my head this is
- 1:30:43taking place in 1993, but again, it's an AU.
- 1:30:46So they have iPhones in 1990. Three.
- 1:30:48Yeah, exactly. Yeah.
- 1:30:50That's how I see it. And also like family has always
- 1:30:53been a big part of this movie. Always.
- 1:30:55It just always had like the franchise in general.
- 1:30:57They just handled it a different way than in other movies.
- 1:30:59And it was. I thought it was refreshing.
- 1:31:01I I did too. I like the way that they did it
- 1:31:03this time around, yeah. So.
- 1:31:06OK, cool. So listener reviews.
- 1:31:09At the time of recording we don't have anything, but I
- 1:31:13figured whenever that happens, I'm going to start doing a thing
- 1:31:17differently. I'm going to try and find the
- 1:31:18weirdest reviews I can find and try and read that in place.
- 1:31:21OK, just to have some fun with another review.
- 1:31:24OK, get a different perspective. I like it.
- 1:31:27So this is a 1 I I try to look for other sources too, but I
- 1:31:31ended up still finding this one on IMDb.
- 1:31:33OK, the title. It's a seven O 10 The House of
- 1:31:35Weatherface. Enough.
- 1:31:38All right. Does that mean that it's good
- 1:31:40enough or that they've had enough?
- 1:31:42I have no idea, so this is a weird review.
- 1:31:44I guess so. All right, so let's jump into
- 1:31:47this Texas Chainsaw 3D 2013. Alexandra Daddario, Dan Yeager,
- 1:31:53Trey Songz, Scott Eastwood, Tanya.
- 1:31:55OK, he's just listening off the the cast here for a long time.
- 1:31:59And then the House of Weatherface could have been the
- 1:32:02working title of this return to the Well of Horror in another
- 1:32:06chapter of the rebooted franchise, this time part
- 1:32:09prequel and part sequel, with the film queverly beginning with
- 1:32:13vintage footage of the original scarefest and then running on
- 1:32:17empty by having a back story of the whole King Butcher's family
- 1:32:21come to fruition when cousin Daddario and Harris, the
- 1:32:25infamous farmhouse and Churnal, unbeknownst to her, natch.
- 1:32:29With unknitting friends in tow. Period.
- 1:32:33Those are all one sentence. Let the carnage flow.
- 1:32:37While filmed in 3D, watch out for that hurtling chainsaw the
- 1:32:41film putters along with great predictability.
- 1:32:44And like his kissing cousins Jason, Michael and Freddie, old
- 1:32:48Leatherface gets the psychological profile and
- 1:32:51misunderstood childhood a la Norman Bates.
- 1:32:53While it's nice to see the to see newbie film maker throw a
- 1:32:57couple of cameos to original stars Hansen and Burns, it calls
- 1:33:01to enough. So this is this needed to be
- 1:33:05proofread and I'm. The word bond right here.
- 1:33:09Yeah. And I I don't know if this may
- 1:33:11be like an English as a second language type of thing so I
- 1:33:13don't want to make fun of that too much, but it just needed to
- 1:33:15be proofread because I'm assuming kissing cousins should
- 1:33:17be killing cousins. I like the idea of it being
- 1:33:20kissing cousins so. You you want to watch that movie
- 1:33:24with Freddie and Jason then? You know, I think it has the
- 1:33:27potential, you know? Yeah, I don't, I don't know.
- 1:33:30I just I thought that this is an amusing 1.
- 1:33:32I think it was somebody that had a lot of thoughts about it.
- 1:33:35And if it's English second language, I'm surprised because
- 1:33:39their name is George Schmidt. So I think it's just somebody
- 1:33:43that had word von and didn't really proofread.
- 1:33:45They just like got all of their thoughts out in one big thing
- 1:33:47and then boom all. Right.
- 1:33:49It's you've been doing your voice to text a lot lately.
- 1:33:52Yeah. And I imagine it's something
- 1:33:53kind of like that. It could have been, yeah.
- 1:33:56And I found knows Travis's Appalachian because he tried to
- 1:34:01say come sail away with me and it didn't come sell away with
- 1:34:04me. No, I said come sell away with
- 1:34:06we because I had Talia with us and it was like, OK, come sell
- 1:34:10as an SELL away with WE capital Wii.
- 1:34:15So I was like, he's clearly trying to sell his Nintendo Wii.
- 1:34:18Yeah, yeah, not the case. OK, this is it.
- 1:34:23That's it. This is it for August.
- 1:34:26We'll have our schedule out soon.
