- 0:31SPEAKER_01: One just has to pick up a magazine or turn on a television to see that as women, we are bombarded, excuse me, daily with media images of female physical perfection, setting up the most unrealistic of expectations as to how we should look.
- 0:47SPEAKER_01: No wonder female body confidence is falling while incidents of eating disorders are on the rise.
- 0:54SPEAKER_01: What's most alarming is the way this affects young girls.
- 0:58SPEAKER_01: a reduced sense of self-worth can create anxiety, stress, even depression, causing relationship issues while potentially impairing academic and job performance.
- 1:09SPEAKER_01: In direct contrast, Confidence in Bloom is designed to reinforce the truth and reassure every woman who has ever felt inadequate unworthy or tossed aside because of how she looks, that no matter her age, shape, or background, you matter, you are enough now.
- 1:29SPEAKER_01: I, Tina Spoletini, a woman of substance, insist women deserve to be happy, confident, successful, and totally in love with themselves in their own bodies, just the way they are.
- 1:40SPEAKER_01: Through an ongoing series of intriguing conversations with women from all walks of life who are all extraordinary in their own right, we will embark upon a journey of ultimate self-acceptance and empowerment.
- 1:53SPEAKER_01: Together we'll share stories, laugh, learn, maybe even shed a few tears when it becomes clear just how far many women have come to realize how wonderful life is when you stand in your own power, feeling fantastic in your own skin.

- 2:49SPEAKER_01: It's been, I think, over a year since she joined me here on Confidence in Bloom, but we're going to talk today about basically style and fashion and what is it looking like for us today and into the season and into maybe the following year.
- 3:08SPEAKER_01: She's been super busy with New York and I think Miami and I think she's even gone to Europe.
- 3:18SPEAKER_01: So she's going to fill us in with all the newest trends and And so now I'm going to welcome Leighton.
- 3:34SPEAKER_01: So welcome, Leigh.
- 3:36SPEAKER_01: I'm so excited to have you back.
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: Thank
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: you
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: for having
- 3:39SPEAKER_03: me
- 3:39SPEAKER_01: again,
- 3:40SPEAKER_03: Tina.
- 3:40SPEAKER_01: So glad to be here.
- 3:41SPEAKER_01: Yeah, this is going to be so awesome.
- 3:43SPEAKER_01: So I feel like with Spring in the Air, there's lots of going on right there's lots happening people are starting to come out of their their homes right we're getting outside we're we're starting to do things and see things um you just had a few fashion weeks that you attended i believe one was in miami am i right
- 4:05SPEAKER_03: So I actually, I went to New York Fashion Week and then I've been watching the other because I was not able to get to London and Milan and France.
- 4:14SPEAKER_03: But yeah, so I attended New York at the beginning of February and then I've been watching the others kind of virtually and seeing what the designers are doing.
- 4:22SPEAKER_01: Excellent.
- 4:23SPEAKER_01: And so tell me, what, is there major changes?
- 4:27SPEAKER_01: Because I feel like this year there's changes and I don't see anything.
- 4:31SPEAKER_01: I'm just feeling it.
- 4:33SPEAKER_03: So There are a few things I've seen from New York and the other fashion weeks, Tina.
- 4:39SPEAKER_03: So I'm going to tell you a few things that are trending, and feel free to stop me with specific questions.
- 4:45SPEAKER_03: But one major thing...
- 4:47SPEAKER_03: was different colors so a lot of petal pink we saw on the runways and then that's transitioned actually to the red carpets of all the various award shows that have been going on a lot of the celebrities wore um petal pink dresses and gowns so that was one major thing that i've seen
- 5:06SPEAKER_01: i noticed that and that you know it's funny because i was watching the donald trump um I don't know what they called it on the night before last.
- 5:15SPEAKER_01: And all the ladies were all wearing like this bright fuchsia paint.
- 5:19SPEAKER_01: Well, not all the ladies, but a lot, like many of them.
- 5:22SPEAKER_01: And I thought, that's kind of, it's, it kind of struck, struck me as kind of strange that there were so many women wearing the same color.
- 5:30SPEAKER_01: And
- 5:31SPEAKER_03: that apparently I think Tina was from the little I've seen with some sort of, I guess, protest.
- 5:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 5:39SPEAKER_03: I'm not sure.
- 5:41SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I'm not sure exactly what the reason was, why, but that was supposed to be in some sort of protest to the president.
- 5:51SPEAKER_03: They said it's a color of power and protest.
- 5:53SPEAKER_03: Not really sure why or how.
- 5:55SPEAKER_01: Okay, well, it makes more sense.
- 5:57SPEAKER_01: And I don't think it's considered petal pink.
- 6:00SPEAKER_01: Like, I think petal pink is more like a soft baby pink, right?
- 6:05SPEAKER_01: Exactly, yep.
- 6:06SPEAKER_01: Yeah, okay.
- 6:07SPEAKER_03: Yep, yeah.
- 6:08SPEAKER_03: So that was, but yeah, if you look at any of like the red carpets of...
- 6:11SPEAKER_03: The various award shows that have just been wrapping up the past, I'd say, month, month and a half, a lot of the celebrities went with this soft petal pink for their gowns.
- 6:20SPEAKER_03: And that is something that you saw on the runways as well.
- 6:23SPEAKER_03: And that's another theme that didn't used to happen, but now the celebrities for the award shows, they've been getting things kind of fresh off the runways and wearing them to these award shows.
- 6:34SPEAKER_03: And we saw that a lot.
- 6:35SPEAKER_03: So that's a new thing where you'd have to kind of wait.
- 6:38SPEAKER_03: But now they're getting them, you know, three-day after it showed in Milan or, you know, so it's pretty interesting.
- 6:44SPEAKER_03: That
- 6:45SPEAKER_01: is super cool.
- 6:46SPEAKER_01: Like it's, right?
- 6:48SPEAKER_01: And we don't get to see that, right?
- 6:51SPEAKER_01: Like the average person doesn't get to see the runway.
- 6:53SPEAKER_01: And so, you know, for you to know that that way, I just saw that the other day, right?
- 6:58SPEAKER_01: Like that's kind of cool.
- 7:00SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 7:01SPEAKER_03: Like hot off the runways.
- 7:02SPEAKER_03: It's
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: interesting.
- 7:03SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that.
- 7:06SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 7:07SPEAKER_01: So the celebrities are going that way now because they never used to.
- 7:11SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 7:12SPEAKER_03: And what I'm seeing too is they're kind of personalizing, you know, from exactly how it looked on the runway to how they wear it.
- 7:20SPEAKER_03: So sometimes, let's say on the runway, it was like a see-through skirt.
- 7:24SPEAKER_03: They're maybe making it like a solid.
- 7:26SPEAKER_03: And so they're kind of personalizing it a little bit to, I guess, whatever their style is.
- 7:32SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 7:33SPEAKER_01: Sometimes I have to wonder about their styles because some of this clothes, like last year, I remember thinking, why did you even put clothes on?
- 7:41SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:42SPEAKER_01: And so when you say that, it's like, well, I guess that's it's kind of good.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 7:46SPEAKER_01: They are having a style.
- 7:48SPEAKER_01: They're starting to show that what that style is.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 7:51SPEAKER_03: Yes, for
- 7:52SPEAKER_01: sure.
- 7:53SPEAKER_01: I mean, obviously, the pink was a big thing because, you know, I mean, if the celebrities are taking it into the Oscars and the awards shows, what what was the biggest trend that you saw?
- 8:04SPEAKER_03: I'm going to say there's, I would say there's a couple, Tina.
- 8:07SPEAKER_03: So one is definitely there's a change in workwear for women.
- 8:10SPEAKER_03: So there was this mix of femininity, but mixed with menswear.
- 8:15SPEAKER_03: So like you were having like a structured like blazer dress, for example, or these really like structured blazers, but then maybe you're pairing it with like a bralette, right?
- 8:28SPEAKER_03: And so we saw this from a few different designers, Tory Burch, Tom Ford, Stella McCartney, So while you were maybe having like the structured suits, Stella McCartney put like, I don't know what we'd call it, not tinsel per se, but like some bling hanging off like this gray skirt suit that I thought was like so interesting, right?
- 8:48SPEAKER_03: So it's like mixing that super feminine, maybe like suit, but then adding like bling or some tinsel to it, some shine.
- 8:58SPEAKER_03: So I mean, I love it because I love suits and menswear, but I also am super feminine.
- 9:03SPEAKER_03: So for me, I I'm loving seeing it.
- 9:05SPEAKER_03: There was also this, the red blazer dress.
- 9:09SPEAKER_03: And then it was like this bright red though.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 9:12SPEAKER_03: So I love seeing kind of these maybe traditional, you know, masculine structures, but with the feminine twist, that's definitely something I saw from a ton of designers.
- 9:23SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love that.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 9:24SPEAKER_01: So, so you saw a lot of that because I know suits are big, right?
- 9:28SPEAKER_01: Like suits are still quite big.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 9:30SPEAKER_01: I've always liked suits, especially when you're working corporate, when you're working in a bank or a big office.
- 9:36SPEAKER_01: I like when women wear suits.
- 9:38SPEAKER_01: It just seems more, I feel like they're more put together.
- 9:45SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, they're kind of boring.
- 9:49SPEAKER_01: And so when you add the bling and you add that twist to it, it just adds a little bit of oomph and power to it.
- 9:59SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 10:00SPEAKER_03: And also it's showing, you know, your feminine side.
- 10:02SPEAKER_03: So while, right, while they might be a little boring or structured, but when you're adding something, then it's like, oh, you're still a woman, but you're still powerful and strong.
- 10:11SPEAKER_03: And so you're showing those two sides, which I love.
- 10:13SPEAKER_03: I
- 10:15SPEAKER_01: love that.
- 10:16SPEAKER_01: Still a woman and still strong.
- 10:18SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 10:20SPEAKER_03: And then also Tina, I would say, so in addition to the work wear, there was this, I'm gonna call it like a ladies who lunch.
- 10:28SPEAKER_03: So there was a lot of tweed and lady jackets.
- 10:32SPEAKER_03: So what you would envision if you're imagining, maybe like a rich woman in New York or something like that.
- 10:38SPEAKER_03: So there was a lot of that too, which once again, I'm a big fan of tweed.
- 10:41SPEAKER_03: I love a lady jacket or a set of tweed.
- 10:45SPEAKER_03: So that was another big thing that we were seeing on the runways and in person.
- 10:51SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I'm not a fan of Tweet.
- 10:52SPEAKER_01: I have to be honest.
- 10:53SPEAKER_01: But I get it.
- 10:54SPEAKER_01: Like, I get it.
- 10:55SPEAKER_01: It's classic, right?
- 10:56SPEAKER_01: Like, you can't go wrong with it, right?
- 10:59SPEAKER_01: But yeah, you have to.
- 11:00SPEAKER_01: But I think in order for you to buy a Tweet suit, you have to like it.
- 11:04SPEAKER_02: For sure.
- 11:05SPEAKER_01: I'm surprised, Tina, you're in Canada.
- 11:07SPEAKER_01: No Tweet?
- 11:08SPEAKER_01: I know, right?
- 11:09SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I don't really get it myself, right?
- 11:14SPEAKER_01: I don't really care for it.
- 11:15SPEAKER_01: It's not my thing.
- 11:16SPEAKER_01: I like colour.
- 11:17SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:18SPEAKER_01: And to me, tweed is boring.
- 11:19SPEAKER_01: Tweed is like, you know, it's just there.
- 11:22SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:23SPEAKER_01: I like anything I can add a lot of like now you put a patch on the elbow, you know, you know, and you can do anything.
- 11:31SPEAKER_01: You can do anything with those patches.
- 11:32SPEAKER_01: And so that I like.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 11:34SPEAKER_01: To me, that it's like jewelry, but just a tweed jacket.
- 11:37SPEAKER_01: It's, you know, just a jacket.
- 11:40SPEAKER_03: Not necessarily jackets, Tina.
- 11:41SPEAKER_03: So they're also, you know, skirts, dresses.
- 11:44SPEAKER_03: I have a pink tweed dress, like A-line dress.
- 11:46SPEAKER_03: Oh, really?
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 11:48SPEAKER_03: So I think it's becoming, yes, it's like a classic.
- 11:52SPEAKER_03: And then there's being like a twist to it now of maybe brighter colors and different shapes.
- 11:57SPEAKER_01: Well, we are in that world where we know how to mix, you know, the best of both worlds.
- 12:02SPEAKER_01: And so, yeah, well, that makes sense then, right?
- 12:04SPEAKER_01: So maybe I will have to read, what's the word I'm looking for?
- 12:09SPEAKER_01: I'll have to like, you know, search that out again and see what I can, you know, see what I can find.
- 12:15SPEAKER_01: I don't wear suits anymore.
- 12:16SPEAKER_01: So I can't say I have a few blazers obviously, but you know, to wear like, I don't know if I would go out and buy a tweed outfit.
- 12:23SPEAKER_01: Cause I have really no purpose for it.
- 12:25SPEAKER_01: I'm not in a courtroom like yourself, right.
- 12:27SPEAKER_01: Or corporate, but, but at the same time, like there's always a purpose for an outfit like that.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 12:34SPEAKER_01: So this is super interesting.
- 12:35SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 12:36SPEAKER_01: So ladies who lunch, I like that.
- 12:39UNKNOWN: Okay.
- 12:39SPEAKER_01: I like your name for that.
- 12:42SPEAKER_01: And that is, okay, so let's, that is sort of, okay, ladies who lunch.
- 12:46SPEAKER_01: Now, when you say that, I think women who are, they're at work, they're in corporate, so they're wearing the suits and they're the tweed and the formal work wear, but they're also having fun on their lunch breaks, right?
- 13:00SPEAKER_01: They're going, they're meeting friends and they're meeting like people that they're not working with and they're having like a good time doing that, right?
- 13:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 13:08SPEAKER_01: That there goes that.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: I get that.
- 13:10SPEAKER_01: So that's when the pink tweed would come in.
- 13:12SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 13:13SPEAKER_01: It's fun.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: It's exciting.
- 13:14SPEAKER_01: It's, you know, kind of daring a little bit.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 13:16SPEAKER_01: I like that.
- 13:17SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 13:18SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh.
- 13:19SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 13:21SPEAKER_03: And, and another color that we saw on the runways, Tina was this pistachio.
- 13:26SPEAKER_03: So like that type of green, there were pops of it and mixing that up or dresses or so little pops of pistachio green as well was a different color.
- 13:38SPEAKER_01: like that my grandma used to make a pudding and she called it grasshopper pudding yeah but it was pistachio pudding but that's it's such a different like it's a beautiful color right like it's creamy and yeah
- 13:51SPEAKER_03: So I don't know if it's because of spring, you know, people are going towards more of those pastels and the designers, but those were the two colors definitely saw a lot of.
- 14:01SPEAKER_01: And how are we seeing it?
- 14:02SPEAKER_01: Are we seeing it?
- 14:03SPEAKER_01: Obviously not in full outfits.
- 14:05SPEAKER_01: We're seeing it as like accessories, like handbags, purses, scarves, blouses, maybe.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:11SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, some were full outfits and then some it was either like maybe like a sock or it was like a blouse was that color.
- 14:21SPEAKER_03: But then I think I did see some like a dress that was the full kind of like
- 14:24SPEAKER_01: a slip dress.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, so it's for seeing it.
- 14:25SPEAKER_01: Like it's a color.
- 14:27SPEAKER_01: It's a thing now.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 14:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:29SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:30SPEAKER_03: So, I mean, I think people are going towards color a little more, which I love because I mean, I love neutrals, but I'm a color girl for sure.
- 14:38SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:39SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 14:40SPEAKER_01: I have to agree.
- 14:41SPEAKER_01: Like I like neutrals, but you know, they're boring.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:44SPEAKER_01: And you can only like, I like to, so if I wear like a Navy, a Navy outfit, right.
- 14:51SPEAKER_01: I can put any color with that to pop it up.
- 14:54SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 14:55SPEAKER_01: But sometimes I want that popping color to be my color.
- 14:59SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 15:00SPEAKER_01: Because navy is grumpy and boring.
- 15:02SPEAKER_01: I mean, it isn't, but it can be.
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 15:04SPEAKER_01: And especially if you wear the neutrals all the time, after a while, you're like, can you liven that up just a little bit?
- 15:11SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 15:11SPEAKER_03: Oh, for sure.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 15:13SPEAKER_03: And I did a reel recently about how to make neutrals not boring, because I do love me some black, right?
- 15:20SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 15:21SPEAKER_03: So what I typically do if I am going to do neutrals, I either want something, like some sort of unique element to it, whether it's some ruffles, some florals, even if it's that same color, or what I like, Tina, is I look for some details, so like gold buttons, for example.
- 15:38SPEAKER_03: So I wore this tweed lady jacket, but it had these gold buttons, and then I accessorized it with gold kind of big earrings that resembled the buttons, and then gold jewelry.
- 15:49SPEAKER_03: So you can, like, if you're into neutrals great more power to you but there is a way you know you can zhuzh it up a little bit whether it's you know accessorizing or looking for some interesting unique details for that absolutely
- 16:02SPEAKER_01: yeah absolutely and I mean it does look nice like your suit that day in that reel was beautiful right I mean you were black head to toe with this pop of gold right and so you noticed the gold you didn't notice the black right you noticed the gold right so I think that's the difference like when you popping colors like that as long as it's only one color right if you would have wore like say red and gold it wouldn't have done quite the same effect it wouldn't have had the same effect yeah I agree I agree yes yes all right let's talk designers let's okay so are there new designers out there that you know we're just hearing about that were on the runway
- 16:48SPEAKER_03: So in terms of new designers.
- 17:18SPEAKER_03: what that was called.
- 17:20SPEAKER_03: It wasn't like an actual word.
- 17:26SPEAKER_03: It was like kind of Filipino.
- 17:28SPEAKER_03: One second, Tina, let me find that for you.
- 17:29SPEAKER_03: But yeah, so I thought that was unique.
- 17:31SPEAKER_03: So it was like a collection of Filipino designers.
- 17:36SPEAKER_03: And that's kind of not a group that you've seen a ton of.
- 17:40SPEAKER_03: And so in the major and mainstream fashion.
- 17:43SPEAKER_03: So I thought that was great to kind of see that.
- 17:48SPEAKER_03: and it was called where was it find the calendar real quick
- 18:00SPEAKER_01: what and so what kind of designs were they showing us were they showing us like everyday type of designs or were they more fancy designs were they designs that all people can wear because you know filipino people are kind of, I want to say on the tiny side, right?
- 18:17SPEAKER_01: Like would a woman like me be able to shop in that design or what is that more for the, the more petite woman or men?
- 18:26SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 18:27SPEAKER_01: Was it men or women?
- 18:28SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 18:29SPEAKER_03: So no, it wasn't, it wasn't for petite.
- 18:31SPEAKER_03: So it was called Philippine XT.
- 18:34SPEAKER_03: So F I L I P I N X T and, And it was not kind of specific, you know, to a type.
- 18:47SPEAKER_03: So I'm just pulling up what some of the designs were.
- 18:52SPEAKER_03: It was definitely a range.
- 18:58SPEAKER_03: So let me see here, Tina.
- 19:01SPEAKER_03: So for me, what it looked like was a mix of, what will I call...
- 19:05SPEAKER_03: Oh, how do I...
- 19:08SPEAKER_03: I want to give it, you know, like its actual description, but there was some, you know, patchwork that was going on.
- 19:16SPEAKER_03: There was, let's see here.
- 19:19SPEAKER_01: Like patchwork as in like what we're seeing with jean and denim now?
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: Kind of.
- 19:24SPEAKER_01: So like a, like an overcoat, for
- 19:26SPEAKER_03: example, like that had like, you know, like a, yeah, like a denim, like patchwork, like sort of coat.
- 19:33SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so like a, not a jean jacket per se, but like a longer version.
- 19:37SPEAKER_03: Right, right.
- 19:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, then there were some like feminine touches.
- 19:42SPEAKER_03: So they actually had one of the designers was like very like bridal looking.
- 19:49SPEAKER_03: So we had like lace and florals, which was super pretty, super, super pretty.
- 19:55SPEAKER_03: And then there was also a designer that once again had like a lot of bling like elements on, let's say, like a jean jacket or their sorts of jackets.
- 20:06SPEAKER_03: So it was different designers.
- 20:08SPEAKER_03: Um, but it, you know, they're really trying to show like their heritage through their design.
- 20:14SPEAKER_01: So it was very unique
- 20:17SPEAKER_03: than just your traditional, typical, you know, ex designer that you would see.
- 20:22SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 20:23SPEAKER_01: So, you know, it's funny because, you know, last year I remember thinking, yeah, it's cool that the old styles are coming back.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 20:30SPEAKER_01: And we were seeing like the eighties come back in the seventies and the, you know, the whatever, but after a while, it's like, okay, like give me something different.
- 20:38SPEAKER_01: print give me something I haven't seen before right and I think that that's kind of where the trends are seeing seeming to go right now right they're like sure we're going to take a jean jacket but instead of changing the shape or changing the we're going to you know we're going to add the patchwork because that seems to be a thing right now but we're also going to add bling we're going to put you know rhinestone buttons we're going to put you know like we're going to put like a big big shape on the back that's you know eye catching and you know people wanting to see more of it right I think that's kind of where the style seems to be headed right it's like well we can't change what's already been done so let's you know let's let's add to it
- 21:20SPEAKER_03: And try and reinvent it sometimes.
- 21:23SPEAKER_03: Yes, for sure.
- 21:24SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:25SPEAKER_03: Because, you know, they say like fashion history repeats itself.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 21:28SPEAKER_03: And so I think that is a challenge for designers.
- 21:31SPEAKER_03: How can we reinvent these things that are so common or that people have seen before?
- 21:37SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 21:39SPEAKER_01: You know, I saw a clip of Lucille Ball yesterday on Facebook.
- 21:42SPEAKER_01: I don't know where it came from.
- 21:43SPEAKER_01: I don't know if it was an actual clip from one of her shows, but she came in wearing a short dress.
- 21:50SPEAKER_01: I'm not sure.
- 21:51SPEAKER_01: Like it was, I think above her knee.
- 21:53SPEAKER_01: I don't even remember, but she had a jacket on top and the jacket, the skirt, the dress was like, it had this beautiful bow in the middle and on the top was black and silver.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 22:02SPEAKER_01: And it had like, like it was a design flowers, I think.
- 22:06SPEAKER_01: And the bottom was black.
- 22:08SPEAKER_01: The jacket had the same pattern, same fabric from the top on the cuff.
- 22:13SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 22:14SPEAKER_01: And so she took the jacket off and then she unrolled the dress and to a long dress and it was all that like a formal dress that was all this you know silver and black oh my god it was so it's so beautiful well then it she untied it and it became like a short set
- 22:34SPEAKER_02: and I was
- 22:34SPEAKER_01: like oh my gosh I love this right and then she turned the jacket inside out and then she took the something I think was a waist like a belt and it put it she put it on her head so it was like a hat and I thought oh my goodness why are we not creating outfits like this women would buy this stuff all the time right I mean she had like four outfits in one piece I love that it would be two pieces if you include the blazer but I thought oh my gosh I love that
- 23:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, that's fantastic.
- 23:04SPEAKER_03: And they try to do that sometimes on Project Runway.
- 23:08SPEAKER_03: If you've watched it, they'll try to have like this unconventional challenges and maybe like have the dress like transform into something else or whatever, make the piece like two pieces.
- 23:17SPEAKER_03: And I love that because it's so unique and rare.
- 23:19SPEAKER_03: And
- 23:20SPEAKER_01: you can wear the same, like it's one hanger in your closet, right?
- 23:23SPEAKER_01: So if you want a loaded closet, well, there you go, right?
- 23:27SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:28SPEAKER_03: No, for sure.
- 23:29SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 23:30SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 23:31UNKNOWN: Yeah.
- 23:31SPEAKER_01: I remember back in the 90s, early 90s, maybe it was even late 80s, but there was this company and I think it was called NKD and it was cotton fabrics.
- 23:42SPEAKER_01: And you could wear a skirt long or short, right?
- 23:46SPEAKER_01: You could have a belt.
- 23:47SPEAKER_01: Part of it was part of a belt.
- 23:50SPEAKER_01: It was so comfortable.
- 23:51SPEAKER_01: And I remember one of my cousins had a couple of them.
- 23:53SPEAKER_01: And I thought, oh, my God, I want one of those.
- 23:55SPEAKER_01: But I never found one, right, for myself.
- 23:58SPEAKER_01: But I don't know what happened to that company.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 24:01SPEAKER_01: But they were kind of like this outfit that Lucille Ball had, right?
- 24:05SPEAKER_01: I think they had pants, too, but you could wear one skirt.
- 24:08SPEAKER_01: You could roll it up and wear it like this.
- 24:11SPEAKER_01: You know, it was elastic too.
- 24:13SPEAKER_01: So it was like fitted, but it was also, you can wear long, short, you know, three quarter length skirt.
- 24:18SPEAKER_01: I mean, we all want that pencil skirt, right?
- 24:21SPEAKER_01: That's ideal for every occasion, right?
- 24:24SPEAKER_01: So, you know, sometimes it's a short skirt you want.
- 24:26SPEAKER_01: Sometimes you want it to be a long skirt, which reminds me, I want to ask about these jeans.
- 24:34SPEAKER_01: Did you see anything new coming with jeans?
- 24:36SPEAKER_01: Because I don't like these wide pants, right?
- 24:41SPEAKER_01: I'm really hoping that we're going to start seeing, you know, not necessarily skinny.
- 24:47SPEAKER_01: I like the skinny pants myself personally, but that's because of the way they fit me.
- 24:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 24:52SPEAKER_01: But I sometimes I don't like the wide pants when I see them on women.
- 24:56SPEAKER_01: I'm like, that just doesn't look right to me.
- 24:58SPEAKER_01: Do you mean the wide leg
- 25:00SPEAKER_03: pants, Tina?
- 25:01SPEAKER_03: I guess, yeah.
- 25:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah, okay.
- 25:04SPEAKER_03: Yes, it's funny you say that.
- 25:05SPEAKER_03: I didn't see a ton of jeans this season, but when you speak about jeans, what it seems is coming back in are the flares because of Kendrick Lamar's Super Bowl performance.
- 25:17SPEAKER_03: Of course.
- 25:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so those, I mean, got a ton of attention because of the flares.
- 25:25SPEAKER_03: And I think typically, too, we don't think of guys as, you know, really wear like a flare jean or something.
- 25:31SPEAKER_03: But I mean, when I say this took the internet and the fashion world by storm, these Kendrick Lamar, you know, big flare jeans were really a thing because, you know, the performance was so popular and a ton of, you know, millions of people watched it.
- 25:44SPEAKER_03: So in terms of jeans, I would say that because of Kendrick Lamar and his status, now flares are what people are searching for and are back in, which I thought which I thought was very interesting.
- 25:57SPEAKER_03: And once again, of how these things come back around, you know, right.
- 26:02SPEAKER_01: That's too funny.
- 26:03SPEAKER_01: Although flares really, they didn't last too long the last time they came in.
- 26:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 26:08SPEAKER_01: And then the seventies, of course they were, they were the thing.
- 26:11SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 26:12SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 26:13SPEAKER_03: Like you're saying the seventies and now we're in 2025 and they're back again.
- 26:17SPEAKER_01: That was like 50 years ago.
- 26:18SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 26:20SPEAKER_03: But they're back again, thanks to celebrities.
- 26:24SPEAKER_03: And they can really do that, right?
- 26:26SPEAKER_03: They're setting these trends and what people find to be popular because they have such large stages that they're on and can reach so many people with their designs and what they choose to wear and those designers.
- 26:40SPEAKER_03: So I thought that was very interesting that, yes, we've circled back to the flare jean.
- 26:45SPEAKER_03: Wow.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: Wow.
- 26:46SPEAKER_01: And that I was not expecting to hear.
- 26:48SPEAKER_01: Although I think I prefer flared over the wide.
- 26:51SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 26:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 26:54SPEAKER_03: I mean, for me, cause I'm short, I'm not the biggest flare fan.
- 26:57SPEAKER_03: Cause then I, it usually means I have to wear like a higher heel or something or I'll like trip over them.
- 27:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, that's true.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 27:05SPEAKER_01: Because you, I mean, unless they make them specific to your height, you're not going to get them to fit the right size.
- 27:12SPEAKER_01: The way they're meant to fit.
- 27:14SPEAKER_01: Well, I never even thought of that.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 27:17SPEAKER_03: Well, they look good on certain frames.
- 27:20SPEAKER_03: And I'm like, great for you.
- 27:21SPEAKER_03: I'm probably not going to be a flare jean girl myself.
- 27:24SPEAKER_03: But unless, like you're saying, they make them in petite or extra short, then great.
- 27:29SPEAKER_03: I might be able to pull it off.
- 27:30SPEAKER_03: But for me, it's probably not going to
- 27:32SPEAKER_01: work.
- 27:33SPEAKER_01: That's going to suck for you.
- 27:35SPEAKER_01: But I mean, luckily, we're in an age where you don't have to wear the highest trending outfit.
- 27:41SPEAKER_01: You can still get away with wearing skinny jeans and not look like you're, you know, living out of a box.
- 27:48SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 27:49SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 27:50SPEAKER_03: And I probably could, if I got some flare jeans, get them tailored, you know, to fit me.
- 27:55SPEAKER_03: And if I so chose, so it's not the biggest deal.
- 27:59SPEAKER_01: But I also feel like, like altering flares is a lot more difficult than, you know, hemming a pant.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 28:07SPEAKER_01: Cause you're also looking at, you know, where the flare starts.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Excuse me.
- 28:12SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 28:13SPEAKER_01: You want to keep that shape.
- 28:15SPEAKER_03: That's the point of it.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 28:16SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 28:18SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 28:18SPEAKER_01: Right on.
- 28:20SPEAKER_01: Now let's talk transitioning from spring into, or I guess winter into spring.
- 28:26SPEAKER_01: And then I guess probably fall into winter or summer into fall.
- 28:32SPEAKER_01: Here in Alberta, in Canada, we still have lots of snow.
- 28:37SPEAKER_01: But spring is in the air, right?
- 28:38SPEAKER_01: The sun is hot when it comes out.
- 28:40SPEAKER_01: The wind is moving the snow.
- 28:42SPEAKER_01: It's taking a while because there is so much, you know, such thick snow and ice.
- 28:47SPEAKER_01: What can we be wearing that still looks trendy and in style, but also keeping us warm from the cold wind?
- 28:57SPEAKER_03: I'm going to say my number one, Tina, is going to be a cardigan.
- 29:00SPEAKER_03: The cardigan is a great transitional piece that's going to take you through tons of seasons, winter, spring, fall.
- 29:09SPEAKER_03: And cardigans are great because of their versatility.
- 29:11SPEAKER_03: You've got different lengths.
- 29:13SPEAKER_03: So you could have like your regular cardigan that's going to be at your hips.
- 29:18SPEAKER_03: You could have the longer type that's going to go maybe mid-thigh to your knees.
- 29:21SPEAKER_03: They're belted.
- 29:23SPEAKER_03: They have buttons.
- 29:24SPEAKER_03: Some don't have buttons.
- 29:26SPEAKER_03: They are printed.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: They're solid.
- 29:27SPEAKER_03: I love cardigans for their versatility and they are going to take you through multiple seasons, right?
- 29:34SPEAKER_03: So if I'm in winter, for example, I might wear like a turtleneck under a cardigan and with jeans or slacks.
- 29:42SPEAKER_03: And then in spring, we don't need that turtleneck anymore.
- 29:44SPEAKER_03: We can just wear the cardigan over a t-shirt or tank top or something.
- 29:48SPEAKER_03: And then, you know, maybe pair that with a maxi skirt or midi skirt.
- 29:52SPEAKER_03: And so it really is going to transition you through those multiple seasons of Cardigan, which are super versatile.
- 29:59SPEAKER_03: So that's what I would say would be like my number one.
- 30:03SPEAKER_03: also a big fan of blazers.
- 30:04SPEAKER_03: I think blazers can take you through multiple seasons, probably through the whole year, honestly, if you're just changing up maybe the materials.
- 30:12SPEAKER_03: And so I love blazers.
- 30:14SPEAKER_03: Yes, I wear them for work, but I also wear them casually, you know, pair with jeans, pair with leggings, pair with faux leather pants, faux leather miniskirt, kind of whatever you have.
- 30:23SPEAKER_03: So blazers are great because like we talked about, you know, they're going to make you look polished instantly, which I always want.
- 30:31SPEAKER_03: That's something that's really important to me.
- 30:32SPEAKER_03: And then you You are changing how you're pairing them, though.
- 30:35SPEAKER_03: You could do with a button-down, for example, just a blouse, a cami, and they'll take you through those multiple seasons.
- 30:44SPEAKER_03: If I were to give you two pieces of clothing that were great transitional pieces, Tina, I'm going to say the cardigan and a blazer.
- 30:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I have to agree.
- 30:54SPEAKER_01: I like the blazer.
- 30:55SPEAKER_01: Well, cardigans are always good, right?
- 30:57SPEAKER_01: I think we all wear sweaters to some point.
- 31:00SPEAKER_01: Cardigans, now that they're the trend, right, they're back.
- 31:04SPEAKER_01: And so there's so many, there is so many, right?
- 31:07SPEAKER_01: I mean, you can get the kind that they roll up on the arms, and they have like a fashion, a fancy fabric on the inside to, you know, dress it up or dress it down, right?
- 31:16SPEAKER_01: And then there's like, I have a satin one.
- 31:18SPEAKER_01: that's black because it's got these big red roses on it, right?
- 31:21SPEAKER_01: And it's so pretty.
- 31:23SPEAKER_01: Like, it's so pretty.
- 31:24SPEAKER_01: And I think, I mean, sure, I'm still a little bit, you know, it has to be, I have to be selective with what I wear it with because I do have to match somewhat the roses, right?
- 31:36SPEAKER_01: I can't wear that with just anything, but I mean, it goes good with jeans.
- 31:39SPEAKER_01: It goes good with a skirt or a pair of dress pants or, you know, whatever, like I can wear it with all that.
- 31:45SPEAKER_01: And, you know, and that's kind of where we're going, right?
- 31:47SPEAKER_01: Like you want to, you want to buy, especially if you don't want to have, if you don't have money to buy a lot of clothes, you want to buy clothes that you can mix and match with many outfits, right?
- 31:58SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 31:59SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 32:00SPEAKER_03: And cardigans and blazers are two of those things because you can wear them with pants, with skirts, over dresses, right?
- 32:06SPEAKER_03: They're just, the world is your oyster and infinite possibilities and combinations, hopefully with clothes.
- 32:13SPEAKER_03: you're already going to have those other wardrobe staples that are going to, like you said, like pair well with them and you can mix and match.
- 32:20SPEAKER_03: So that's the goal that you pick some, if you have a versatile cardigan, blazer, whatever it is, and then it should be able to match with those basics you have in your wardrobe.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 32:31SPEAKER_01: And even now, so did you notice runners are like runners and sneakers still a thing?
- 32:37SPEAKER_01: Because I noticed, I went to church last night and I was like, oh my God, everybody's wearing, like everybody is wearing runners.
- 32:43SPEAKER_01: I was like, I know it's a trend, right?
- 32:46SPEAKER_01: And I mean, who doesn't want to be comfortable, right?
- 32:48SPEAKER_01: Like, yeah, let's go runners on and be comfortable, especially when you're standing in church for two hours, right?
- 32:53SPEAKER_01: But at the same time, I was like, oh my gosh, nobody wears dress shoes anymore.
- 32:58SPEAKER_03: I think there is kind of this want, I think it's probably because of the pandemic, Tina, but this want for like comfort now, right?
- 33:06SPEAKER_03: People were just in their sweats and everything.
- 33:08SPEAKER_03: And so, yeah, so, you know, the, for example, like the Adidas, the Samba, that was super popular.
- 33:13SPEAKER_03: I got myself a pair.
- 33:14SPEAKER_03: I'm typically not a big sneaker girl, but I like them because they are versatile.
- 33:19SPEAKER_03: And so I can wear them with jeans or with my faux leather pants or, you know, so yes, there is this, I think, want for comfort, but while also being stylish so yeah like the Sambas I know they like kept being sold out and they come in different colors which is great right so you can have your personality do you want the green or do you want the traditional kind of white with the gray stripe right so I do think I mean I'm always a comfort girl when I dress that is important I want to be polished but I do also want to be comfortable but I like dress shoes and I would say I also really enjoy like a chunky loafer Tina so yeah I'm a big fan because they do give me that hype, but then they're still comfortable, like key, right?
- 34:03SPEAKER_03: So I have two pairs of these coach chunky loafers.
- 34:06SPEAKER_03: I have a plain black and then a bright metallic silver.
- 34:10SPEAKER_03: And so I can wear the plain back for work if I want.
- 34:12SPEAKER_03: And then my metallic silver when I want to be a little more loud.
- 34:15SPEAKER_03: But so they're going to give me that comfort of not necessarily so elevating it more than a sneaker, but still give me that comfort of a flat.
- 34:22SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 34:24SPEAKER_01: People are still looking because I noticed when we went shopping in in Arizona in January, the shoes were not that big a deal.
- 34:33SPEAKER_01: You know, I went to Cole Haan, I went to all the designer stores, and I noticed that they don't have as many shoes as they used to.
- 34:41SPEAKER_01: They have more clothes now.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:45SPEAKER_01: So the runners are, there's, I don't know, do you call them runners now?
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: I don't even know.
- 34:49SPEAKER_01: I always just call everything sneakers.
- 34:53SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 34:55SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 35:01SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 35:15SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 35:16SPEAKER_03: Not for their actual functional purpose.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 35:19SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 35:20SPEAKER_01: And so, I mean, I don't envy these young girls today that get to wear them.
- 35:24SPEAKER_01: Like I'm like, you guys are so lucky because when I was your age, we had to wear dress shoes.
- 35:29SPEAKER_01: That was the thing.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:30SPEAKER_01: And I mean, there wasn't a night that didn't go by that we would go home after work and say, Oh my God, my feet are killing me.
- 35:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:40SPEAKER_01: Like, I mean, my toes used to get squished all the time because of course, pointy shoes and high heels.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 35:45SPEAKER_01: And so, yeah, our feet were always sore, but you know, today, like the young girls, like you and everyone under you, they all get to wear what they can wear, whatever they want.
- 35:57SPEAKER_01: Some are still wearing high heels, but if they want to wear runners, they can wear runners
- 36:01SPEAKER_03: or sneakers.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: For sure.
- 36:02SPEAKER_03: or whatever you want to call them.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 36:04SPEAKER_03: And you can make them, you can make them fashionable though.
- 36:07SPEAKER_03: You pair it with, for example, like the Sambas, you can pair them with jeans, a t-shirt, but then like a trench coat, right?
- 36:15SPEAKER_03: So it still looks trendy and it doesn't look super sporty, but you're comfortable.
- 36:19SPEAKER_03: So, hey.
- 36:20SPEAKER_01: And now there's bling.
- 36:21SPEAKER_01: Like I have a pair of runners.
- 36:23SPEAKER_01: Well, they're, they're not, I don't know what they are really.
- 36:25SPEAKER_01: They're dress shoes, but they're in the shape of sneakers, but they're bling.
- 36:29SPEAKER_01: Like they're white and they have rhinestones all over them.
- 36:32SPEAKER_01: I don't want to wear them because they're going to get so dirty, but I think, oh my God, they're so beautiful.
- 36:36SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 36:38SPEAKER_03: It's fun to add some personality to these kind of basic wardrobe pieces.
- 36:43SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 36:44SPEAKER_01: Absolutely.
- 36:45SPEAKER_01: Now what else we need to, okay.
- 36:46SPEAKER_01: So we talked transitional.
- 36:48SPEAKER_01: Was there anything you wanted to add as far as like what we can wear into fall, winter, winter, spring?
- 36:56SPEAKER_01: I
- 36:57SPEAKER_03: think if you're into, not everyone's into skirts, but if you've got, like a maxi or midi skirt for me because I'm sure midi skirts look like maxis but they also transition well so whether that's cotton or whether it's like a denim a long skirt that transitions very well to spring as well where you might have in winter been wearing them with tights and maybe like a knee-high boot and then in the spring you can take off those tights and wear them with maybe like a flat or a chunky loafer or the warmer days you can wear them with sand So I love skirts as transitional pieces as well, if you're a skirts wearer.
- 37:40SPEAKER_01: People haven't, women haven't been wearing skirts that much.
- 37:43SPEAKER_01: I mean, you see them, but not that much, but I'm starting to see them again.
- 37:47SPEAKER_01: I'm starting, you know, when you go out, you start seeing women are wearing skirts.
- 37:51SPEAKER_01: There was a time before the pandemic where the maxi dress was the biggest thing.
- 37:56SPEAKER_01: Like everyone had one and we were wearing them all day, every day.
- 38:00SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 38:01SPEAKER_01: And then of course, with the pandemic, we, We're all stuck at home.
- 38:04SPEAKER_01: So the sweatpants came back out.
- 38:06SPEAKER_01: And now the sweatpants are like suits.
- 38:08SPEAKER_01: They're like, you know, matching top and bottom.
- 38:10SPEAKER_01: I thought we were never going to do that again.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 38:12SPEAKER_01: So now it's
- 38:16SPEAKER_03: funny you mentioned that.
- 38:17SPEAKER_03: So another trend that we're seeing a lot is what I'm going to call like elevated athleisure.
- 38:22SPEAKER_03: So because people still want to be comfortable wearing.
- 38:26SPEAKER_03: but want to feel, you know, not like they're just home in their sweatpants.
- 38:31SPEAKER_03: So things like, for example, J.Crew had these like satin track pants.
- 38:36SPEAKER_01: So they've got like the stripe.
- 38:37SPEAKER_01: No, no, don't tell me that.
- 38:38UNKNOWN: Yes.
- 38:38SPEAKER_01: Yes, yes.
- 39:08SPEAKER_03: midi skirt so it's got like the cargo pockets like the fleecy sort of material so you feel comfortable but you still have that look yeah so that's the elevated athleisure i'm calling it is also you know around because people want that comfort but don't necessarily want to maybe look kind of sloppy or as if we're just in our sweats you know
- 39:28SPEAKER_01: that's that's i guess that's where the trend is going we don't want that sloppy look anymore right we're not we're not going for the i've been stuck in the house for the last five years we are we are bent Right.
- 39:39SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 39:53SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so we're seeing a ton of that.
- 39:55SPEAKER_01: Oh, I like that.
- 39:56SPEAKER_01: That makes me happy, right?
- 39:58SPEAKER_01: I mean, it's a little bit, okay, so I'm going to speak for many people.
- 40:02SPEAKER_01: The pandemic put us a lot into our comfort zone as far as, you know, I'm just going to wear like tights and a hoodie.
- 40:10SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 40:11SPEAKER_01: I am still looking for like I just found a hoodie.
- 40:13SPEAKER_01: I don't know if you shop at Tabletics, but I found myself a hoodie that's long, like it's almost to my knees.
- 40:19SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 40:20SPEAKER_01: Looking for years for this hoodie.
- 40:22SPEAKER_01: And I found it there.
- 40:23SPEAKER_01: I'm like, I am going to buy it right this second.
- 40:27SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 40:28SPEAKER_01: And now I'm noticing that the hoodies are not coming out anymore.
- 40:31SPEAKER_01: Like I'm noticing that even the young people are not wearing the hoodies the way they were wearing them last year at this time.
- 40:38SPEAKER_01: So I'm like, yeah, I'm always a late bloomer.
- 40:40SPEAKER_01: But I still want that hoodie.
- 40:44SPEAKER_03: And you can have it because it's comfortable.
- 40:46SPEAKER_01: Oh, it's so comfortable.
- 40:47SPEAKER_01: And it's warm, right?
- 40:48SPEAKER_01: Especially this time of year.
- 40:49SPEAKER_01: Like, I still feel like I'm chilly.
- 40:51SPEAKER_01: And so I can go outside without throwing on a coat and wear just that.
- 40:56SPEAKER_01: So, and I love that.
- 40:57SPEAKER_01: I mean, here, you know, I don't know.
- 40:59SPEAKER_01: Do you get snow in Maryland?
- 41:00SPEAKER_01: Oh, we do.
- 41:01SPEAKER_01: Oh, yes, we get
- 41:02SPEAKER_03: snow.
- 41:03SPEAKER_03: We got a little bit maybe a month ago or two.
- 41:07SPEAKER_03: Not as much as you get, Tina, in Canada.
- 41:10SPEAKER_03: But we'll get some, you know, maybe six inches or so every once in a
- 41:14SPEAKER_01: while.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 41:15SPEAKER_01: So yeah, we have, like I said, we have, we still have lots and it's March.
- 41:20SPEAKER_01: I mean, we're going to get more.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: We're not done.
- 41:22SPEAKER_01: I know, you know, we always get at least one snowfall in the month of March.
- 41:27SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 41:28SPEAKER_01: But I'm sure we're still going to get another two or three feet, but.
- 41:32SPEAKER_01: We're okay with that because it's normal.
- 41:34SPEAKER_01: Like it's our normal, right?
- 41:35SPEAKER_01: And spring still comes after.
- 41:37SPEAKER_01: So we're okay with it.
- 41:38SPEAKER_01: We can accept it because we know that, you know, it's just part of the, you know, the season.
- 41:43SPEAKER_01: But yeah, it's chilly, right?
- 41:45SPEAKER_01: I mean, we can't always just leave the house.
- 41:47SPEAKER_01: That's what I look forward to the summer.
- 41:49SPEAKER_01: Just, you know, leaving the house, putting on a pair of flip-flops or sandals or whatever and just going, right?
- 41:55SPEAKER_01: Whereas in the wintertime, it's, you know, it takes 10 minutes just to get through the door.
- 41:59SPEAKER_03: Oh yeah.
- 42:00SPEAKER_03: Summer is definitely my favorite season by far.
- 42:02SPEAKER_03: Yeah,
- 42:03SPEAKER_01: for sure.
- 42:04SPEAKER_01: For sure.
- 42:05SPEAKER_01: So what else what else did we did you notice that you want the world to know?
- 42:11SPEAKER_03: say another thing is accessories.
- 42:14SPEAKER_03: So one trend that I've been, well, one trend that I've been seeing and that I've now partaken in is bag charms.
- 42:22SPEAKER_03: So we, you know, we all have our purses and our bags, but now it's essentially like a key chain that you can put onto your bag to give it a little more personality.
- 42:30SPEAKER_03: Oh
- 42:30SPEAKER_01: my God.
- 42:31SPEAKER_01: I did that when I was in grade six.
- 42:33SPEAKER_01: I'll never forget.
- 42:34SPEAKER_01: I had this super cool flash dance bag and I had all those key chains on the zipper.
- 42:40SPEAKER_01: Oh my gosh, really?
- 42:41SPEAKER_01: That's a long time ago.
- 42:43SPEAKER_03: So that is Bactina.
- 42:45SPEAKER_03: And whether it is like your initial or whether, hold on, I'm going to show you.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: So I got this.
- 42:49SPEAKER_03: So I'd wanted a top handle bag for a while.
- 42:53SPEAKER_03: And I found one at Coach when I went for...
- 42:59SPEAKER_03: fashion week at the, like the popular Macy's in New York, the 34th street, the main Macy's.
- 43:05SPEAKER_03: And so I got this bag, Tina.
- 43:08SPEAKER_03: And then she said, oh, would you like to add a bag charm?
- 43:10SPEAKER_03: I said, yeah.
- 43:11SPEAKER_03: So I got these cherries, like these like blingies.
- 43:14SPEAKER_03: Oh, I've seen those.
- 43:15SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 43:16SPEAKER_03: So isn't that fun?
- 43:17SPEAKER_03: So it just adds a little, you know, pop to the plain black bag.
- 43:20SPEAKER_01: And a few years ago, I remember here, a lot of like women that I knew had these like balls and they were fur.
- 43:28SPEAKER_01: Oh, yeah, I remember that.
- 43:29SPEAKER_01: Right?
- 43:30SPEAKER_01: So that's what that was.
- 43:32SPEAKER_01: So it's a trend that's sort of been around for a while, but they're really trying to make it stick now.
- 43:38SPEAKER_03: Yes, it's definitely like to give that extra like pop of personalization, which I love.
- 43:44SPEAKER_03: I love anything if I can get something monogrammed or whatever.
- 43:47SPEAKER_03: So for me, like I love bling.
- 43:49SPEAKER_03: So the cherries have a bunch of bling, right?
- 43:51SPEAKER_03: So I, yeah, so bag charms are definitely something I've been seeing a lot lately.
- 43:57SPEAKER_01: And so are they like one charm per bag or like when I was a kid, they were, it was like, you know, a a load of charms, like key chains, right?
- 44:07SPEAKER_01: I don't know if I would call them, I would call them key chains, but they were meant as charms.
- 44:12SPEAKER_01: Are we seeing them like all just one big one and then many little ones?
- 44:16SPEAKER_01: Are we seeing many of different
- 44:18SPEAKER_03: kinds?
- 44:19SPEAKER_03: I'm seeing different kinds.
- 44:20SPEAKER_03: And once again, I think it depends on your style.
- 44:22SPEAKER_03: So for me, I wouldn't want to like overburden the bag itself.
- 44:25SPEAKER_03: It's meant to just be like, just like a little accessory to me.
- 44:29SPEAKER_03: So I would probably stick with one, maybe two max, but also, um, when you've got to think about it, um, practically Tina, if you have too many, like they make noises, they can make the bag heavier, you know, things like that.
- 44:40SPEAKER_03: So it's, it's up to the user, however you'd like, you know, to accessorize.
- 44:46SPEAKER_03: Um, but for me, just one kind of big one is all, all I need.
- 44:50SPEAKER_01: And you can put them on a little purse.
- 44:52SPEAKER_01: You can put them on a tote.
- 44:53SPEAKER_01: And it's two on the bag, right?
- 44:55SPEAKER_01: I mean, if you've got multiple zippers and you want, you want to be seen, right.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: That's what you're going to do.
- 45:00SPEAKER_01: You're going to add.
- 45:01SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 45:02SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 45:03SPEAKER_01: So those were not the accessories I was hoping to hear about although I do like it I think it's a cool trend but what what are we seeing as far as like jewelry and earrings rings like what are we seeing are we seeing layering again are we seeing like what's what's the thing now is it like to wear gold silver and the the rose gold together or is it sort of one or over the other I
- 45:29SPEAKER_03: think that I feel like it's very person specific, Tina, because some people I know they are only gold.
- 45:36SPEAKER_03: Some people are only silver.
- 45:37SPEAKER_03: Some people prefer like the rose gold, like you said, right?
- 45:40SPEAKER_03: So I know for me, I like all of them and I will wear them kind of on different days.
- 45:45SPEAKER_03: And so I, I just feel like metals are very person specific.
- 45:51SPEAKER_03: I know some people that they only want to wear gold.
- 45:53SPEAKER_03: And so that's what they're going, you know, after.
- 45:55SPEAKER_03: But I will say that, And it's, I think, another accessory, and I can't remember if we talked about this last time or not, but it's one that I'm still loving and obsessed with, as opposed to, like, necklaces, per se.
- 46:11SPEAKER_03: I'm loving kind of these floral chokers, these floral, so.
- 46:16SPEAKER_03: That's still a thing, yeah.
- 46:18SPEAKER_03: Yeah, I mean, I love them, and I get comments on them all the time because it's really unique.
- 46:23SPEAKER_03: And it's different than just like your dainty necklace with the one pendant.
- 46:27SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 46:28SPEAKER_03: So I think there is in general, I would say there was just a move towards maybe like expression in different ways than just what's been the standard.
- 46:39SPEAKER_01: It sounds like, yeah, because I have, because the last time I spoke with you, we had talked about those floral necklaces and I have not really seen them here in Canada.
- 46:50SPEAKER_01: Now, I know that we don't get all the trends.
- 46:52SPEAKER_01: You know, when it comes to the clothes, we get most of the clothing.
- 46:55SPEAKER_01: But as far as like jewelry and and that we don't see all of it.
- 47:00SPEAKER_01: But I did see them like I have seen them, but not a ton.
- 47:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 47:04SPEAKER_01: And I
- 47:05SPEAKER_03: think, too, Tina, that's probably they're not like everyone's cup of tea.
- 47:08SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: So.
- 47:08SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 47:09SPEAKER_01: And so there's going to be only certain stores that carry them.
- 47:11SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 47:12SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:13SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:14SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 47:14SPEAKER_03: You're going to see them not everywhere because they're, yeah, I'm not going to say they're like a specialty thing, but they kind of are.
- 47:20SPEAKER_03: So I was seeing them, you know, places like Anthropologie that are like super like on trend and like have those super on trend things.
- 47:28SPEAKER_03: Zara, for example.
- 47:29SPEAKER_03: Right.
- 47:30SPEAKER_03: So the stores that are super into trends, you would probably see it there more than like...
- 47:37SPEAKER_03: your typical Target or Macy's or some of these places, you might have to search for them a little bit.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: Right, right.
- 47:44SPEAKER_01: And that makes sense.
- 47:45SPEAKER_01: That makes sense.
- 47:46SPEAKER_01: Now, the difference between anthropology and say, like Target, I mean, we're talking, you know, we're talking quality wise, completely opposite range.
- 47:57SPEAKER_01: So what you're finding at Target, the style is going to be like quick and easy.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 48:03SPEAKER_01: You're not going to go for that more sophisticated look that you're going to get at anthropology.
- 48:08SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:09SPEAKER_03: Yeah.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: Yep.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: Exactly.
- 48:10SPEAKER_03: So that's why you might see those trends there as opposed to the
- 48:16SPEAKER_01: target.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:17SPEAKER_01: Slowly they make their way into, into target, but by that time anthropology is done with it.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:22SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:23SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: Yeah.
- 48:25SPEAKER_01: Oh, that's so interesting.
- 48:26SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 48:27SPEAKER_01: So what else, what else do you have for us?
- 48:29SPEAKER_03: Let's see, Tina.
- 48:30SPEAKER_03: There's so many things.
- 48:31SPEAKER_03: Another thing there that was trending, and we've seen this on the runways and also at award shows, is this bohemian look.
- 48:39SPEAKER_03: And so remember I talked about, you know, maybe you saw it translucent on the runway and then you made it solid your own.
- 48:45SPEAKER_03: But yeah, so we saw right off the runways some of these like cream lacy dresses that are pretty see-through and pretty showing a lot.
- 48:55SPEAKER_03: And so that's not really my thing, but this was something we saw from several designers And then the celebrities wearing them at the red carpet.
- 49:03SPEAKER_03: And they chose to wear them with, you know, maybe like nude underwear underneath, right?
- 49:09SPEAKER_03: Because they are, like I said, they're pretty, showing a lot.
- 49:12SPEAKER_03: But there was this like, these flowy...
- 49:14SPEAKER_03: bohemian dresses i would call them and looks so not necessarily my cup of tea but if you're into the boho vibe that's definitely something else we saw and i did actually and i did an oscars recap video and there were a couple of those looks on the oscars runway like i said weren't for me but that's something that
- 49:34SPEAKER_01: i like but it's not it's not something i want in my closet I like it.
- 49:41SPEAKER_01: It looks very comfortable and very self-expressive.
- 49:45SPEAKER_01: You can totally be yourself wearing that style, but it's not me.
- 49:52SPEAKER_01: It's not for me.
- 49:53SPEAKER_01: Not me either.
- 49:54SPEAKER_01: That's super interesting.
- 49:56SPEAKER_01: The whole see-through thing...
- 49:57SPEAKER_01: definitely no it's not me
- 50:00SPEAKER_03: it's not it is not me either not me at all but like I said some people went full see-through and then some put you know like the nude underwear and so however once again that you want to make it your own that's the thing with trends right you it needs to fit into your style and then you can make it your own however you see fit to actually be authentic to you
- 50:23SPEAKER_01: yeah you know it reminds me I remember as a kid you know going to shopping with my mom and I would say okay you need to wear that dress because you know it's the style you know oh but I don't like the way it does this but that's how it's supposed to look right that's that's the style but today we're changing that right well if you don't like that change it to what you do like
- 50:46SPEAKER_03: Absolutely.
- 50:47SPEAKER_01: And that's key because you want to be authentic to you.
- 50:49SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that.
- 50:52SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: Okay.
- 50:53SPEAKER_01: So we're heading in the right direction here.
- 50:55SPEAKER_01: All right.
- 50:56SPEAKER_01: So what else did you show?
- 50:57SPEAKER_01: Did you see?
- 50:59SPEAKER_03: All right, Tina, let me see.
- 51:00SPEAKER_03: And then I would say the lastly, it was, I'm going to call it extreme femininity.
- 51:06SPEAKER_03: There were tons of florals and lace and things that I just love.
- 51:14SPEAKER_03: So that's been everywhere, whether it's Dior.
- 51:20SPEAKER_03: Oh, my gosh, I love Dior.
- 51:22SPEAKER_03: I guess Stella McCartney had a lot, but just a lot of embracing women.
- 51:27SPEAKER_03: these feminine touches.
- 51:28SPEAKER_03: And so if you love lace, this is a great season.
- 51:32SPEAKER_03: If you love florals, it's a great season.
- 51:34SPEAKER_03: And then lots of bling once again.
- 51:38SPEAKER_03: So just extreme femininity is what I'm going to call it.
- 51:41SPEAKER_03: And the great thing about that is you can mix those florals and lace and all those things with masculine pieces as well.
- 51:48SPEAKER_03: And I like to do that a lot.
- 51:50SPEAKER_03: So I like to mix masculine and feminine because I'm a floral girl, but then I might throw like a vest over something, right?
- 51:58SPEAKER_01: The thing is we all hold feminine and masculine energies.
- 52:02SPEAKER_01: And so why not show that, right?
- 52:05SPEAKER_01: There's absolutely nothing wrong with that.
- 52:07SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I love that.
- 52:09SPEAKER_01: So you can
- 52:09SPEAKER_03: go full on feminine or you can break it up a little bit and mix in those maybe men's wear pieces so that that's what I'm going to say was like the last big thing I saw
- 52:18SPEAKER_01: oh that sounds cool I love so I'm not a big floral person I'll be honest I like them like I've had pieces and I like them I don't love them but I love ruffles right like I love ruffles especially if it's on like from the shoulders down I'm like oh my god I just love it it's just so I don't know how to explain it I just think they're so sexy Yeah, like sexy in a way, like not like, you know, baby, I don't mean it in that way.
- 52:50SPEAKER_01: I mean, just so beautiful.
- 52:53SPEAKER_01: And so like, I want to get to know you like it's attractive and intriguing, right?
- 52:58SPEAKER_01: Yes,
- 52:59SPEAKER_03: I'm with you.
- 53:00SPEAKER_03: Any feminine details.
- 53:02SPEAKER_03: I'm here for them.
- 53:03SPEAKER_03: Give me all of them.
- 53:04SPEAKER_01: Yeah, yeah, exactly.
- 53:06SPEAKER_01: Exactly.
- 53:07SPEAKER_01: Oh, I love that.
- 53:08SPEAKER_01: Okay, so did you cover everything that you saw?
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: I did.
- 53:12SPEAKER_03: I have my list, Tina, and I've checked off.
- 53:15SPEAKER_03: We've talked about everything.
- 53:17SPEAKER_01: Yes.
- 53:18SPEAKER_01: Now tell me, what is your favorite trend?
- 53:21SPEAKER_01: Like what is the one trend that you were going to pick up for this season?
- 53:27SPEAKER_03: For me, it's definitely the Ladies Who Lunch.
- 53:28SPEAKER_03: It's already part of my vibe and my aesthetic and what I like.
- 53:33SPEAKER_03: And I have a ton of lady jackets already.
- 53:35SPEAKER_03: I have not worn them all yet.
- 53:36SPEAKER_03: So they will be coming for the rest of winter and into spring.
- 53:40SPEAKER_03: And the tweed, like I'm looking right now at a couple of things.
- 53:43SPEAKER_03: So yes, I'm a very big into like the tweed and the feminine, that like look.
- 53:49SPEAKER_03: And I love matching sets.
- 53:50SPEAKER_03: So the Ladies Who Lunch is my aesthetic, Tina.
- 53:54SPEAKER_03: And it's what I will be rocking through the spring.
- 53:57SPEAKER_03: and probably the rest of the year.
- 53:59SPEAKER_03: I
- 53:59SPEAKER_01: love it.
- 54:00SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 54:01SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 54:02SPEAKER_01: That is so cool.
- 54:03SPEAKER_01: See, and that's, it's funny.
- 54:05SPEAKER_01: Like, I don't know that I would do that.
- 54:07SPEAKER_01: Like I, you know, like I said, I don't really care for tweed.
- 54:10SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 54:11SPEAKER_01: In fact, I was watching the news.
- 54:13SPEAKER_01: It wasn't the news.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: I don't know.
- 54:14SPEAKER_01: My husband was watching bull, bull riding of all things to ride, but, or to watch, but there was a lady on there wearing a tweed suit.
- 54:22SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I don't like that.
- 54:24SPEAKER_01: Like, it doesn't look attractive to me.
- 54:26SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 54:27SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, she's, she's on TV.
- 54:29SPEAKER_01: So she's wearing the newest thing.
- 54:30SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, I think that, that suck, right?
- 54:33SPEAKER_01: That's the first thing I noticed.
- 54:35SPEAKER_01: And I'm like, there is something, there must be something wrong with me.
- 54:38SPEAKER_01: It
- 54:39SPEAKER_03: could be a styling thing too.
- 54:41SPEAKER_03: It could be, you know, the way people style certain things as well.
- 54:45SPEAKER_03: But I actually have a tweed dress coming in the mail, Tina.
- 54:48SPEAKER_03: So I'm going to post and I'll see what you think about when I
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: post.
- 54:51SPEAKER_01: I cannot wait to see it.
- 54:53SPEAKER_01: So you still do your, um, oh, um, Oh my gosh.
- 54:57SPEAKER_01: I was just looking it up that where we can come in and what do you call it?
- 55:02SPEAKER_01: Style where we can come in.
- 55:04SPEAKER_01: You, you talk about the latest trend and like, it's like a webinar that you hold.
- 55:09SPEAKER_01: Oh,
- 55:10SPEAKER_03: my monthly workshops.
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: Is it that?
- 55:12SPEAKER_03: Oh, yes.
- 55:13SPEAKER_03: Yes.
- 55:13SPEAKER_03: So I still have, yes, once a month, a monthly Google Meet free workshop where you can just come in and I will talk about various topics.
- 55:22SPEAKER_03: And you can also make requests.
- 55:23SPEAKER_03: So in February, one of the attendees, she had requested months ago, actually, if I could do outerwear.
- 55:30SPEAKER_03: So that's what I did for February.
- 55:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, that's right.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: I saw that.
- 55:33SPEAKER_01: Yeah, I saw that.
- 55:35SPEAKER_01: So outerwear in February.
- 55:37SPEAKER_03: Yeah, so I just talked about various things, talked about coats, vests, capes, boleros, shawls, you know, different types of outerwear, where to find them, where you can get good deals, the fact that they serve, yes, a functional purpose, but also you can make it super stylish.
- 55:56SPEAKER_03: And a couple of people I used were Michelle Obama, where one of the inauguration outfits, I don't know if you remember, but it was this like plum color.
- 56:03SPEAKER_03: It was a Sergio Hudson look.
- 56:06SPEAKER_03: So it was like these plum pants, plum top, and then this great plum coat, like long coat to finish up the look.
- 56:15SPEAKER_03: And another person who has great coats is Kate Middleton, a princess.
- 56:19SPEAKER_03: She's got Fantastico.
- 56:21SPEAKER_03: So I used a lot of pictures of her.
- 56:23SPEAKER_03: So that was what we talked about with outerwear.
- 56:25SPEAKER_03: It's very fun.
- 56:26SPEAKER_03: So yeah, every month I just pick a topic that I think would be helpful for, you know, busy professionals.
- 56:31SPEAKER_03: And so just learn a little bit more about, or if it's being requested and asked for me to talk more about.
- 56:36SPEAKER_03: I
- 56:36SPEAKER_01: love it.
- 56:37SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: I love it.
- 56:38SPEAKER_01: And then, so to access that, we just need to go to your website.
- 56:41SPEAKER_03: Yes, to access that, you go to my website, and I also post it in socials, but you just need to register so that if you can't make it live, then you'll be sent the replay.
- 56:51SPEAKER_03: But I need you on that list to be able to do that, yes.
- 56:54SPEAKER_03: So, yes, you can access them, and I post about them.
- 56:57SPEAKER_03: I put on the website the link to register and also the link to just join the call live if you don't feel like registering.
- 57:02SPEAKER_03: So February or March, I haven't decided what the topic's going to be yet, but it will be on all my socials and the website when I do decide.
- 57:10SPEAKER_03: I
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: will see.
- 57:11SPEAKER_01: Love it.
- 57:13SPEAKER_01: And I'm looking forward to the thing is I can't always make it.
- 57:16SPEAKER_01: I do get the replays.
- 57:17SPEAKER_01: I don't watch all of them, unfortunately, because sometimes it's like, I don't really have the time right now, but and then one day I will go through them.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:25SPEAKER_01: But I do love them.
- 57:26SPEAKER_01: I think they're great.
- 57:27SPEAKER_01: And it's nice that you have like everyday people that go there that want to know.
- 57:32SPEAKER_01: What do I do with my clothes?
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:34SPEAKER_01: Like I want to, you know, I don't necessarily want to buy something new, but, you know, but tell me what, you know, so that I can, you know, incorporate that in my wardrobe.
- 57:44SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:45SPEAKER_01: That's what we need to know.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:46SPEAKER_01: Because, I mean, everything is expensive and people don't have a lot of money right now.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: Right.
- 57:51SPEAKER_01: And so if we can do more of that, I think that that is what our people need.
- 57:56SPEAKER_03: Yes, repurposing, taking a like twisting what you might already have and experimenting is also really great and something I always support, Tina, because you might have something in your closet.
- 58:07SPEAKER_03: You thought you bought it for work or you thought you bought it for casual and then you can, it turns out you can really mix and match it with things you already have and find new ways to reinvent maybe one piece
- 58:18SPEAKER_01: into multiple.
- 58:19SPEAKER_01: Exactly, yeah.
- 58:20SPEAKER_01: And I love that.
- 58:21SPEAKER_01: I love that we can do that.
- 58:22SPEAKER_03: Yes,
- 58:23SPEAKER_01: that's awesome.
- 58:24SPEAKER_01: Well, thank you so much for joining me today.
- 58:27SPEAKER_03: Thank you for having me.
- 58:28SPEAKER_03: It's always a pleasure to
- 58:30SPEAKER_01: see you and speak
- 58:30SPEAKER_03: with you, Tina.
- 58:31SPEAKER_01: Yes, for sure.
- 58:32SPEAKER_01: Is there anything that you want our listeners to know that we haven't covered?
- 58:36SPEAKER_01: I
- 58:38SPEAKER_03: would just say if you are struggling with anything or want any help or tips, I do free 15 minute calls.
- 58:44SPEAKER_03: So you can always just book a Calendly with me and we can discuss whatever issues you've got.
- 58:48SPEAKER_03: And that is on my website.
- 58:50SPEAKER_03: So you just go to the styling and book and we can talk and you can ask me
- 58:54SPEAKER_01: whatever you need.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: I love that.
- 58:56SPEAKER_01: That is so awesome.
- 58:57SPEAKER_01: I hope everyone calls you because I think you're amazing.
- 59:00SPEAKER_01: Thank you so much.
