- 0:00Speaker 1: The Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:02Speaker 2: Thanks to Craveworthy Street Food.
- 0:05Speaker 3: Freshly made with Reburger.
- 0:09Speaker 4: Welcome to the Hodaki Big Show.
- 0:12Speaker 1: With Jason Hoyt, Mike Minogue and Keezy. Oh, g'day, you
- 0:18Speaker 1: mad bastards. Great to have you company this Tuesday afternoon.
- 0:22Speaker 1: It's the 1st of September, 2026. And you, my friends,
- 0:26Speaker 1: as always, listening to the Big Show, brought to you
- 0:30Speaker 1: by Reburger.
- 0:31Speaker 3: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options available. Reburger are redefining
- 0:35Speaker 3: the norm.
- 0:37Speaker 1: We're going to need a bigger burger. Yum, yum, yum, yum, yum.
- 0:46Speaker 1: Good stuff. G'day, Mogi, you stallion. How's life?
- 0:49Speaker 4: Going pretty grousey, you mad dog, you sick son of
- 0:52Speaker 4: a bee in there. I'm back having my bad sleeps, fellas.
- 0:56Speaker 1: Oh, no.
- 0:57Speaker 4: Hard to get to sleep? Wake up, can't get back
- 0:59Speaker 4: to sleep.
- 0:59Speaker 1: Yeah. No good.
- 1:01Speaker 4: No good.
- 1:02Speaker 1: It's not good when you wake up and then can't
- 1:05Speaker 1: get back to.
- 1:06Speaker 4: Also not good when you lie there and you can't
- 1:08Speaker 4: get to.
- 1:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 1:10Speaker 4: And then you also can't get back to.
- 1:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 1:12Speaker 4: But neither of them are great.
- 1:14Speaker 5: No.
- 1:14Speaker 4: How are you going, Keezy?
- 1:16Speaker 3: Yeah, pretty good, fellas. Had a pretty chill day, which
- 1:19Speaker 3: is nice. And before the show, I went and had
- 1:21Speaker 3: a solo. Hoity J.
- 1:23Speaker 1: Hot Pop. Yeah, man. And now I am very full. Yeah.
- 1:26Speaker 3: And all sorts of things are happening inside me.
- 1:28Speaker 1: Yeah, good. Yeah. But as you said in the chat there, Keezy,
- 1:32Speaker 1: you're a professional.
- 1:33Speaker 3: And it won't affect my broadcasting.
- 1:35Speaker 1: And you won't allow the inferno in your bowels and
- 1:40Speaker 1: your stomach at the moment to interrupt. That's right.
- 1:42Speaker 4: What we're doing here. But it did interrupt you last
- 1:44Speaker 4: week on Friday because, of course, you had Reburgers.
- 1:48Speaker 3: Oh, that's right.
- 1:48Speaker 4: You had about nine kilos of that, and you were
- 1:51Speaker 4: just like, oh, I don't know why I'm so tired.
- 1:54Speaker 4: You just had 2,000 calories in about eight minutes.
- 1:56Speaker 3: Yeah, it was delicious.
- 1:57Speaker 1: Are you sleepy or just burning?
- 2:00Speaker 3: Just burning.
- 2:01Speaker 5: Yeah, okay.
- 2:01Speaker 3: To be honest, I feel alive.
- 2:03Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 2:03Speaker 3: It's like I've swallowed lava.
- 2:05Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 2:06Speaker 3: But it was so yummy.
- 2:07Speaker 4: How are you, Jase?
- 2:08Speaker 1: Yeah, I'm good, thanks. So, strangely enough, Mogi... Guess what
- 2:12Speaker 1: time I woke up this morning. Go on, guess it.
- 2:15Speaker 1: 7 a.m. No. 8.30. 8. Yes.
- 2:19Speaker 4: Wow.
- 2:20Speaker 1: And it was my turn on coffee, so I promptly
- 2:23Speaker 1: went into the kitchen, burnt my wife's coffee, and took
- 2:26Speaker 1: it into her. You know why?
- 2:27Speaker 4: Because you're a backbone?
- 2:29Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 2:31Speaker 3: Hey, man, what's coming up on the show?
- 2:36Speaker 1: What's happening on The Big Show with Old Mogul?
- 2:39Speaker 4: Here on Hauraki, we only run the best competitions in
- 2:42Speaker 4: the whole wide world, and that's why we're doing wars
- 2:45Speaker 4: or cars. Would you rather go along and see the Warriors, hopefully,
- 2:48Speaker 4: at the grand final? It will be the grand final, Keezy,
- 2:51Speaker 4: no matter what. Yeah. Or go to Bathurst. Big decision.
- 2:57Speaker 4: Stay tuned for the queue to call and give us
- 2:58Speaker 4: a bell on 0800 Hauraki. Also got an update on
- 3:01Speaker 4: Keezy's Pigeon.
- 3:03Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 3:04Speaker 4: Keezy's pigeon. Now, we haven't had an update for a
- 3:06Speaker 4: couple of weeks. The first couple of weeks, shock and bastard.
- 3:10Speaker 4: Last couple of weeks, Keezy's lost all interest, apparently.
- 3:12Speaker 1: He has been very quiet on that front. I've been
- 3:15Speaker 1: a bit concerned with Keezy on all wings looking over
- 3:17Speaker 1: his beak with me, Keezy.
- 3:19Speaker 4: Yes.
- 3:19Speaker 3: Yeah, yeah. Well, I'll update you on why that is.
- 3:21Speaker 4: I haven't heard his name mentioned around the office at all.
- 3:23Speaker 1: Neither have I.
- 3:24Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 3:25Speaker 1: Good.
- 3:26Speaker 4: And coming up next, I've got a bone to pick.
- 3:28Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, man.
- 3:29Speaker 4: I'm fuming. God, I'm fuming.
- 3:31Speaker 1: How bad is it? Oh, fuming. Surely it's not that bad.
- 3:34Speaker 4: It's just somebody bringing shame on the big show again. Oh, God.
- 3:37Speaker 1: Oh, no. Bloody pugs. Here's Lincoln Park. Cheers.
- 3:43Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 3:47Speaker 1: Faith no more there on the Hodaki Big Show. This
- 3:50Speaker 1: Tuesday afternoon, the time is 12 minutes past 4 o'clock.
- 3:55Speaker 4: Fellas, I've got a bone to pick. Last week, I
- 4:01Speaker 4: was lucky enough to be invited along as a very
- 4:05Speaker 4: important person, a special guest.
- 4:09Speaker 1: VIP, can I say, Mogi?
- 4:11Speaker 4: You may, you may.
- 4:11Speaker 1: That's what it stands for, yeah.
- 4:15Speaker 4: For the opening night of Cirque Alice, Cirque du Soleil.
- 4:21Speaker 4: They have a whole bunch of different shows that go
- 4:23Speaker 4: around the world. I've been to a few of them,
- 4:24Speaker 4: and this one was at the Civic. Keezy, you talked
- 4:26Speaker 4: about it last night on What's On The TV with
- 4:27Speaker 4: me and Mogi. And you were there, and that's part
- 4:30Speaker 4: of the problem, or a lot of the problem. Now,
- 4:33Speaker 4: it's an incredible event, this thing. But when you go
- 4:37Speaker 4: along to an opening night of something, it's really important
- 4:40Speaker 4: that you dress for the occasion. especially when you're at
- 4:46Speaker 4: sort of a venue as esteemed and historic as the
- 4:50Speaker 4: Civic Theatre here in downtown Auckland City, Jase. You've spent
- 4:53Speaker 4: a lot of time there.
- 4:53Speaker 1: Oh, she's a majestic old lady.
- 4:57Speaker 4: So there on the invitation, it said quite clearly that
- 5:02Speaker 4: you were to dress as if in an Alice Wonderland.
- 5:07Speaker 3: Oh.
- 5:08Speaker 4: Oh, yeah, nice.
- 5:09Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Yeah, yeah.
- 5:10Speaker 4: It's very clear, isn't it? Dress up. So I went
- 5:14Speaker 4: home from the radio, and then I got changed into
- 5:16Speaker 4: a beautiful suit. And then made my way along. Both
- 5:21Speaker 4: my wife and my daughter were dressed up for the occasion.
- 5:23Speaker 4: Then I arrive, and my phone buzzes as I'm taking
- 5:26Speaker 4: my seat in the stalls, front and centre of the
- 5:29Speaker 4: stage there. And it's from old Keezy, and he sent
- 5:32Speaker 4: a photo, and it says, old Mogi turns up five
- 5:36Speaker 4: minutes late. And he'd taken sort of a paparazzi photo
- 5:40Speaker 4: of me discreetly. And I was looking good. Could I
- 5:44Speaker 4: say that?
- 5:45Speaker 1: Was he looking good, Keezy?
- 5:47Speaker 3: Yeah, sure.
- 5:49Speaker 4: Then in the intermission, I see Keezy sort of stumbling
- 5:52Speaker 4: his way out of the stalls with a couple of
- 5:55Speaker 4: empty beer cans in his hand.
- 5:57Speaker 3: Oh, they were Woodstocks.
- 5:59Speaker 1: Woodstocks. Yeah, nice.
- 6:01Speaker 4: And he's making his way out the door, I can
- 6:03Speaker 4: only assume to reload. And I see him dressed in
- 6:08Speaker 4: what can only be described as street wear. He's wearing
- 6:12Speaker 4: a Warriors hat. You know that weird Warriors jacket he's got?
- 6:16Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 6:19Speaker 4: Some Warriors shorts and jandals. And this is for the premiere.
- 6:24Speaker 4: And I just thought to myself, now, Keezy, you know,
- 6:26Speaker 4: you've been invited along to these sorts of things. You're
- 6:29Speaker 4: representing the big show, and you're also meant to be
- 6:32Speaker 4: showing the people on the stage who have come from,
- 6:33Speaker 4: you know, the most incredible places overseas to little old
- 6:37Speaker 4: New Zealand. And what do they look out and seek?
- 6:40Speaker 4: You know, a guy in his mid-30s trying to dress
- 6:42Speaker 4: up like one of his favourite players in the rugby
- 6:44Speaker 4: league team.
- 6:47Speaker 3: Yeah, well, to be honest, fellas, I'm not that experienced
- 6:49Speaker 3: going to the theatre. I didn't even realise an opening
- 6:51Speaker 3: night was a special thing. So when I did get
- 6:53Speaker 3: there dressed head to foot in WAS gear, I did
- 6:57Speaker 3: feel a bit out of place.
- 6:58Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 6:58Speaker 3: I was the only one wearing a hat.
- 7:00Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:01Speaker 3: Sorry, I was the only one wearing a sports hat.
- 7:03Speaker 3: The only other hat I saw was Oscar Kightley was
- 7:06Speaker 3: a few rows in front, dressed in a beautiful purple
- 7:08Speaker 3: suit with a fedora on.
- 7:09Speaker 1: Yeah, now you're talking. That's style.
- 7:11Speaker 4: That's class.
- 7:12Speaker 1: That guy gets it. He gets it, man.
- 7:14Speaker 3: Yeah, but I'm just wearing what I'm comfortable in.
- 7:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 7:16Speaker 3: And that's head-to-toe Waz merch. And what was it?
- 7:19Speaker 4: Jandals.
- 7:19Speaker 1: Well, it's really interesting because, you know, I will say, Mogi,
- 7:24Speaker 1: that old Keezy can scrub up quite nicely, can't he?
- 7:28Speaker 1: He can. Thank you. But it's... It only ever seems
- 7:32Speaker 1: to be for piss-ups.
- 7:33Speaker 5: Yes.
- 7:33Speaker 1: You know what I mean? Thank you. Then you have
- 7:35Speaker 1: a quality, classy event like a theatre show, and it's
- 7:40Speaker 1: the opening night of a big occasion, the Civic, a
- 7:43Speaker 1: grand spectacle of a place. And old Keezy staggers in
- 7:48Speaker 1: with his warrior shirt.
- 7:49Speaker 3: What's this whole staggering thing?
- 7:52Speaker 1: I mean, I'm... As much as we don't like it sometimes,
- 7:58Speaker 1: we are representing the big show. Thank you. You know
- 8:00Speaker 1: what I mean? And to just turn up. I mean,
- 8:03Speaker 1: there would have been people from overseas there going, I
- 8:05Speaker 1: love the show. It was absolutely wonderful. But the locals
- 8:10Speaker 1: of Philistines. Where are they from? I don't know.
- 8:13Speaker 5: England.
- 8:14Speaker 1: Yeah, England. Those guys.
- 8:15Speaker 4: I was sitting next to them. They were horrified by
- 8:18Speaker 4: the state of old Casey there.
- 8:20Speaker 1: I'm so sorry.
- 8:21Speaker 4: That's all good. How was your missus about it? She
- 8:23Speaker 4: loved it.
- 8:23Speaker 3: She had to sit with you. Yeah, well, she was
- 8:25Speaker 3: in head-to-toe Bulldogs gear.
- 8:30Speaker 1: Then apparently you started chucking your woodstock cans under the stage. No,
- 8:33Speaker 1: I didn't.
- 8:36Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 8:40Speaker 2: in weekdays at four on Radio Hauraki.
- 8:42Speaker 1: Yes, indeed. Cake there on the Hauraki Big Show this
- 8:47Speaker 1: Tuesday afternoon. The time is 23 minutes past four o'clock. Fellas,
- 8:53Speaker 1: I want to get your advice on something. I've decided
- 8:57Speaker 1: to step up my social media game. Right.
- 9:02Speaker 3: So that would mean posting or even doing anything.
- 9:04Speaker 4: Oh, he does. I mean, when you went to Brisbane, Jase,
- 9:07Speaker 4: to the Magic Ground, some very nice photos were taken.
- 9:09Speaker 1: Thank you, Mogan.
- 9:10Speaker 4: To around local gardens. Rubbish bins, et cetera?
- 9:15Speaker 1: And my group selfies, they go off. They do.
- 9:18Speaker 3: Pugs did a lot of that work for you, though.
- 9:20Speaker 1: Well, I mean, he posts them and stuff like that.
- 9:23Speaker 1: I still haven't quite figured out how to write on
- 9:25Speaker 1: them or put music to what you're doing. That's all right.
- 9:28Speaker 3: Baby steps.
- 9:28Speaker 1: But I've got this idea, and I want to put
- 9:31Speaker 1: this little concept to you, if I might, because I
- 9:33Speaker 1: think it's cool.
- 9:34Speaker 4: Cool, man. You go for it.
- 9:35Speaker 1: I think the kids will love it. Like, because I'm
- 9:37Speaker 1: going through the CBD all the time, listening to my
- 9:40Speaker 1: tunes on my skull candies.
- 9:41Speaker 3: Oh, because you live in the city, eh?
- 9:43Speaker 1: Yeah, man. And, you know, the tunes are playing in
- 9:49Speaker 1: my eardrums.
- 9:51Speaker 3: And I'm thinking, you know, and I'm looking.
- 10:00Speaker 1: And I'm just taking in the world. And so I've
- 10:02Speaker 1: had this idea, right, and I think it's going to
- 10:04Speaker 1: go off. I think it's going to go viral. of
- 10:09Speaker 1: Come for a Walk with Hoity J. And I've got
- 10:12Speaker 1: some really fat tune going on.
- 10:14Speaker 4: Right.
- 10:15Speaker 1: In the video.
- 10:16Speaker 4: Okay.
- 10:16Speaker 1: And it's just me strolling through various parts of the
- 10:19Speaker 1: CBD with a tune banging in the background.
- 10:22Speaker 4: So it's you walking in town.
- 10:24Speaker 1: It's just Come for a Walk with Hoity J. And
- 10:26Speaker 1: it's literally just me walking, you know, through town.
- 10:29Speaker 3: And you think that's going to go viral.
- 10:30Speaker 1: I reckon it's going to go off. Yep. You know
- 10:32Speaker 1: how people see something and they go, oh. Hootie Jay's
- 10:35Speaker 1: done this thing. I reckon we should do it at
- 10:36Speaker 1: our work, you know, sort of thing. Because we do
- 10:39Speaker 1: that too.
- 10:39Speaker 3: Oh, you want to start a trend.
- 10:40Speaker 1: I want to start a trend.
- 10:42Speaker 3: Where people film each other walking.
- 10:43Speaker 1: Now.
- 10:45Speaker 5: Now.
- 10:46Speaker 1: I'm thinking, and you can give me advice on this
- 10:49Speaker 1: because I'm technically not very good at it. I don't
- 10:50Speaker 1: know if you know that about me. I'm getting a
- 10:52Speaker 1: selfie stick.
- 10:53Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 10:54Speaker 1: Absolutely.
- 10:55Speaker 3: What's a selfie stick?
- 10:56Speaker 1: Well, you know, I presume it's like a stick thing
- 10:59Speaker 1: that you shove your phone on the end of.
- 11:01Speaker 4: Yes.
- 11:02Speaker 1: So then you're walking along looking really cool and, you know, hip.
- 11:05Speaker 3: And you can film yourself.
- 11:06Speaker 1: And you can film yourself or, you know, have it
- 11:10Speaker 1: out in front of me. So I could be having
- 11:12Speaker 1: my skull candies on. The tune's douche, douche, douche, douche.
- 11:17Speaker 1: I'm walking through town just taking shots of everything with
- 11:19Speaker 1: the tune in the background. Yeah, right.
- 11:22Speaker 4: There's a couple of options there as well. There's a
- 11:24Speaker 4: selfie stick, but then you've got to hold it.
- 11:26Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 11:27Speaker 5: Right?
- 11:27Speaker 4: Yes. But there's also a new addition, and that is
- 11:30Speaker 4: a belt which you stick the selfie stick into. Yes,
- 11:33Speaker 4: I've seen that. Sort of like a fishing pole.
- 11:36Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 11:36Speaker 4: On a boat, you know how they have the pole holders?
- 11:38Speaker 1: Yes, I do, yeah.
- 11:39Speaker 4: So that frees your hands up, and you're then able
- 11:41Speaker 4: to sort of wander around. The other thing that's come
- 11:44Speaker 4: out recently, of course, is the sicko goggles. And those
- 11:48Speaker 4: are those sort of, what are they, Google glasses, I
- 11:50Speaker 4: think they're called, where they're constantly recording people without their
- 11:54Speaker 4: knowledge or consent. That would suit you down to the ground.
- 11:58Speaker 1: Yeah, the only thing is, Mogi, I don't really wear
- 11:59Speaker 1: my glasses in the city. But look, this is the thing.
- 12:04Speaker 1: I'm open to all technology. I just worry that the
- 12:06Speaker 1: one in my groin, yeah, that one, be very low
- 12:10Speaker 1: to the ground.
- 12:12Speaker 4: Well, I mean, it doesn't matter. It could be on
- 12:13Speaker 4: your forehead. It's still going to be very low to
- 12:15Speaker 4: the ground.
- 12:15Speaker 1: Well, that's what I mean. You know, I'm not a
- 12:17Speaker 1: big unit, so I might be just a shot of
- 12:20Speaker 1: all these people's kneecaps.
- 12:22Speaker 3: Are you worried about getting smacked over, walking around town
- 12:25Speaker 3: with a selfie stick vibing?
- 12:27Speaker 1: Keezy, you've known me for a long time, and I'm
- 12:31Speaker 1: pretty sure one of the things you know about me
- 12:34Speaker 1: is I know how to look after myself, all right? Yeah, man,
- 12:37Speaker 1: you really look.
- 12:38Speaker 3: You take care of yourself.
- 12:39Speaker 5: You do.
- 12:39Speaker 1: He takes care of number one. But what do you think?
- 12:41Speaker 1: I mean, I'll get a selfie stick.
- 12:42Speaker 3: Right.
- 12:43Speaker 1: I'll put tunes on my walks.
- 12:45Speaker 3: Okay.
- 12:46Speaker 1: I'll walk with Hootie Joe, and they're fat beats too.
- 12:48Speaker 1: Don't worry about that.
- 12:49Speaker 3: Who's editing it?
- 12:50Speaker 1: I'll edit it.
- 12:51Speaker 4: Right.
- 12:52Speaker 1: I'm not even going to edit it. I'll just play
- 12:54Speaker 1: it from beginning to end, and that'll be.
- 12:56Speaker 5: The end of it.
- 12:56Speaker 4: So you just chuck it up on Instagram? Yeah. Maybe
- 12:58Speaker 4: like three hours long?
- 13:00Speaker 1: Well, I don't think three hours. Maybe two. 2.30, you
- 13:04Speaker 1: know what I mean? And people would be like, I
- 13:06Speaker 1: could see people sitting in their lounges, you know, just sitting,
- 13:10Speaker 1: getting mesmerized and going, yeah, this is cool. It's kind
- 13:13Speaker 1: of like the Odyssey, isn't it?
- 13:15Speaker 4: It's kind of that kind of length anyway if you're
- 13:17Speaker 4: talking two and a half hours. And there is a
- 13:19Speaker 4: certain amount of jeopardy because once you get down to
- 13:21Speaker 4: the waterfront, there's every chance that a seago will pick
- 13:23Speaker 4: you up and take you out over the ocean.
- 13:25Speaker 5: Right.
- 13:26Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 13:30Speaker 1: Yes, indeed. Wazzle cars. Yeah. Eh? Fellas? Fellas?
- 13:35Speaker 5: Eh?
- 13:35Speaker 1: I tell you what, I thought it was just going
- 13:38Speaker 1: to be all NRL, this competition. But there's been quite
- 13:41Speaker 1: a few backbones out there that have gone Bathurst. The
- 13:45Speaker 1: old petrolheads.
- 13:46Speaker 4: People love their cars, what do you say?
- 13:47Speaker 1: They do.
- 13:48Speaker 4: You know, they have a real love affair with them.
- 13:50Speaker 1: Yeah. I've never got it myself.
- 13:52Speaker 5: No.
- 13:53Speaker 1: You know what I mean? I just.
- 13:54Speaker 3: What do you love?
- 13:56Speaker 1: Hot pot.
- 13:57Speaker 3: Imagine there was like a special event in Australia on
- 14:01Speaker 3: Hot Pot Mountain where all of the hot pot enthusiasts
- 14:04Speaker 3: gathered to watch the best hot potters in the world
- 14:06Speaker 3: go around Mount Panorama.
- 14:07Speaker 4: And some people cheer for a spicy hot pot and
- 14:09Speaker 4: other people cheer for a pretty mild.
- 14:11Speaker 1: Green pepper.
- 14:12Speaker 3: Or a green pepper. You know what I mean?
- 14:13Speaker 1: I'll tell you another passion I've got. Candles.
- 14:18Speaker 3: What, like scented candles?
- 14:19Speaker 4: Yeah, yeah.
- 14:20Speaker 3: Cool, so imagine all the biggest candle enthusiasts in the
- 14:23Speaker 3: world gathering in Australia.
- 14:25Speaker 1: I'd be there. But it's not that. It's NRL Grand
- 14:29Speaker 1: Final and or Bathurst. Let's go to the phone lines. G'day, Aaron,
- 14:32Speaker 1: you mad bastard. How's life? Excellent, actually.
- 14:36Speaker 4: Excellent at the moment.
- 14:37Speaker 1: Yeah, good on you, mate. Tell me, Aaron, what do
- 14:38Speaker 1: you do for a crust?
- 14:40Speaker 4: I just look after my old man, actually. Oh, you're a.
- 14:43Speaker 1: Backbone, mate. Backbone. I hope you're on 200 grand a year. Backbone.
- 14:48Speaker 3: Hey, Aaron, which one are you choosing, mate, grand final
- 14:51Speaker 3: or Bathurst?
- 14:54Speaker 4: You know, grand final.
- 14:55Speaker 1: Yeah, totally, man, totally.
- 14:57Speaker 3: Are you a Warriors fan, Aaron?
- 14:59Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 15:00Speaker 1: And who would you take with you? Were you lucky
- 15:02Speaker 1: enough to win?
- 15:03Speaker 5: Probably my brother, actually.
- 15:05Speaker 4: He's a Panthers fan.
- 15:06Speaker 3: Oh, is he?
- 15:07Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That'd be a good game.
- 15:08Speaker 4: What a son of a B.
- 15:10Speaker 3: Hey, Aaron, you're in the draw, mate. You hold the line,
- 15:12Speaker 3: all right? Pug's going to look after you.
- 15:14Speaker 4: Backbone. Okay, good as gold.
- 15:15Speaker 1: Good on you, mate. G'day, Duncan, you mad bastard. How's life? Oh, good, mate.
- 15:20Speaker 2: How are you?
- 15:20Speaker 1: Yeah, good, thanks, mate.
- 15:21Speaker 3: Good.
- 15:22Speaker 1: How's your Tuesday going?
- 15:24Speaker 2: Tuesday's good.
- 15:25Speaker 5: It's been a bit sunnier than the old welly.
- 15:27Speaker 1: Oh, has it?
- 15:28Speaker 3: You've got to enjoy it.
- 15:29Speaker 1: Oh, you've got to get out, man. I tell you what,
- 15:31Speaker 1: in Auckland at the moment, she's blowing a bloody gale.
- 15:34Speaker 1: Absolute gale.
- 15:37Speaker 3: Far out. It's good stuff, fellas. Hey.
- 15:41Speaker 4: Hang on, Keezy, man. What's up, man? Just before you
- 15:43Speaker 4: move off the weather chat, Duncan, have the Nor'Westers started yet, man?
- 15:47Speaker 4: You normally get those in your spring.
- 15:49Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, no, no. We switched this morning from a
- 15:51Speaker 5: southerly to a northerly.
- 15:53Speaker 1: How good.
- 15:53Speaker 4: It's a good time to be alive. Southerly gale to
- 15:56Speaker 4: a northerly gale.
- 15:58Speaker 2: Oh, yes.
- 15:59Speaker 1: So what would be your choice there, Dunk?
- 16:01Speaker 4: NRL, Bathurst?
- 16:02Speaker 1: I'll go with the hot pot, actually.
- 16:04Speaker 3: I've got to go with the hot pot.
- 16:06Speaker 1: Jewish. No, no, I'll go with NRL. Yeah, cool.
- 16:10Speaker 3: And, Dunk, just before you go, what do you do
- 16:12Speaker 3: for a crust, man?
- 16:13Speaker 5: I'm a beer transfer technician.
- 16:15Speaker 3: Oh, yeah?
- 16:16Speaker 1: You take the beer out of the can and put
- 16:18Speaker 1: it in your mouth.
- 16:19Speaker 5: Yeah, I love working at the pub.
- 16:21Speaker 4: Backbone.
- 16:22Speaker 3: Get on your dunk. You hold the line, and old
- 16:23Speaker 3: Pugsan will look after you.
- 16:25Speaker 5: All right? How good. Cheers, lads.
- 16:26Speaker 4: Get on your feel.
- 16:27Speaker 3: That's a big shout-out to boyschip.co.nz, who will be organising
- 16:31Speaker 3: either package, depending on what you win, and just an
- 16:33Speaker 3: announcement that the NRL Grand Final package is officially sold out.
- 16:36Speaker 1: Wow!
- 16:37Speaker 3: As I'm surprised. I'm not surprised that it sold out,
- 16:40Speaker 3: but I'm surprised it took this long, to be honest.
- 16:42Speaker 4: Yeah, I think people are sort of like, you're hedging
- 16:44Speaker 4: your bets, because in all honesty... You know, I mean,
- 16:47Speaker 4: I know a lot of people have gone over to
- 16:48Speaker 4: the grand final. I'm not sure how pumped I'd be
- 16:50Speaker 4: to watch two teams that have knocked out the Warriors.
- 16:53Speaker 1: Yeah, you're right.
- 16:53Speaker 4: Compete for a title that the Warriors can't get. You know?
- 16:56Speaker 1: You know?
- 16:57Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 16:57Speaker 1: Well, certainly for a Waz fan, yes.
- 16:59Speaker 3: Potentially another chance to get yourself in the draw for
- 17:01Speaker 3: this competition later on in the show. Listen for the
- 17:03Speaker 3: cue to call, and then call 0800 Hauraki.
- 17:05Speaker 1: Yeah, bloody good. In the meantime, oh yeah, bit of
- 17:08Speaker 1: push push.
- 17:09Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show.
- 17:11Speaker 3: Weekdays from 4pm.
- 17:13Speaker 1: Foo Fighters there on the Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 17:18Speaker 1: The time is 4.47. Let's talk TV. What's on the
- 17:23Speaker 1: telly with Mike Minogue. Yeah! Woo!
- 17:31Speaker 4: On Friday night, you spoke about this, Keith, yesterday, same
- 17:35Speaker 4: time on the show. I went and saw a certain... Alice.
- 17:39Speaker 4: So Cirque du Soleil, it's acrobats. It's a type of circus,
- 17:42Speaker 4: but it's with acrobats, no animals. It was on at
- 17:45Speaker 4: the Civic Theatre here in Auckland. I think it's on
- 17:47Speaker 4: for the next couple of weeks. It's the story of
- 17:49Speaker 4: Alice in Wonderland, isn't it, Keezy?
- 17:50Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 17:51Speaker 4: Now, Alice comes out and, you know, look, it's not
- 17:55Speaker 4: word for word, let me put it that way. But
- 17:58Speaker 4: there's lots of classical music. Very recognisable classical music that
- 18:03Speaker 4: anybody in the street would have heard. And the person
- 18:06Speaker 4: that plays Alice is sort of a classically trained operatic singer.
- 18:10Speaker 4: Absolutely amazing. Brilliant. And then the story gets told and
- 18:14Speaker 4: you've got various trapeze artists doing all sorts of different things, which,
- 18:18Speaker 4: as you said, Keezy, make you more and more anxious
- 18:21Speaker 4: as the show goes on. Incredible skill. I found it really.
- 18:26Speaker 4: I found it absolutely amazing and life-affirming, and I think
- 18:29Speaker 4: it's the sort of thing that absolutely everybody should go
- 18:31Speaker 4: and see. It's amazing that people can do any of
- 18:34Speaker 4: this stuff at all. They have a clown in there
- 18:37Speaker 4: that comes along as well, who's the Mad Hatter, is
- 18:39Speaker 4: his character, and he sort of breaks it up, gets
- 18:41Speaker 4: people out of the audience, that sort of stuff. The tickets,
- 18:44Speaker 4: I looked them up, they weren't super, like normally you
- 18:46Speaker 4: see Cirque du Soleil, it's $ 180 or something insane like that.
- 18:49Speaker 4: This is like, I saw tickets for $ 60.
- 18:51Speaker 1: Yes.
- 18:52Speaker 4: And I don't think there's really a bad seat in
- 18:53Speaker 4: the house. If you can get along to it, absolutely
- 18:55Speaker 4: get along to it. Keezy, you gave it 4.2. I
- 18:58Speaker 4: couldn't ask for more out of a show than the
- 19:00Speaker 4: level of entertainment I got. That's a five-bussy show for me.
- 19:03Speaker 1: Wow.
- 19:04Speaker 4: Get along, tickets on sale in Auckland, and I don't
- 19:06Speaker 4: think they're going anywhere else, so you're out of luck.
- 19:08Speaker 1: Good stuff, mate. Well, on your recommendation, Mogi, I watched
- 19:12Speaker 1: a film on Netflix, The Whisper Man. Yeah. Starring Robert
- 19:17Speaker 1: De Niro, Adam Scott, and Mona.
- 19:19Speaker 4: Bridget Moynihan.
- 19:20Speaker 1: Moynihan, yes. Here's the story outline.
- 19:22Speaker 4: And Michael Keaton.
- 19:23Speaker 1: And Michael Keaton, yes. When his eight-year-old son is abducted,
- 19:27Speaker 1: a widowed crime writer looks to his estranged father, a
- 19:31Speaker 1: retired police detective, for help. He soon discovers a connection
- 19:35Speaker 1: to the decades-old case of a convicted serial killer known
- 19:40Speaker 1: as the Whisper Man. Now, look. It was a very
- 19:46Speaker 1: solid film, is how I would describe it. Nothing... particularly
- 19:50Speaker 1: amazing about it. And also, I think there's something wrong.
- 19:56Speaker 1: Movies that are really dark on my TV, I can't
- 19:58Speaker 1: see crap. You know what I mean? We tried to
- 20:00Speaker 1: lighten it. And there was a lot of dark, moody
- 20:04Speaker 1: interior stuff. I know how you feel. What's happening?
- 20:06Speaker 4: What's happening?
- 20:07Speaker 1: It annoys me. And I'll tell you what else was
- 20:09Speaker 1: very curious. Robert De Niro, who I'm a huge fan of.
- 20:15Speaker 1: Or have been. Have been. A very paint-by-numbers performance from him.
- 20:20Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 20:21Speaker 1: Very muted. I kind of felt, yeah, I just got
- 20:26Speaker 1: the vibe from him that he was just, it was
- 20:28Speaker 1: just another film and he was just going through the motions.
- 20:31Speaker 4: I sort of feel like with him that it's probably
- 20:34Speaker 4: for the last 15 years or so, he keeps himself
- 20:36Speaker 4: very active. There's a lot of acting. He's not selective.
- 20:38Speaker 5: No.
- 20:39Speaker 4: I'm not saying that he should have been with this one,
- 20:41Speaker 4: but he turns out a lot of work and I
- 20:44Speaker 4: think he's probably a bit worried about the end of
- 20:46Speaker 4: his life.
- 20:47Speaker 1: Maybe.
- 20:48Speaker 4: You know, coming in the tunnel towards him.
- 20:50Speaker 1: It was the first time I've ever watched De Niro
- 20:52Speaker 1: and gone, ah, not the best performance you've ever given. Right.
- 20:56Speaker 1: It's very kind of paint by numbers almost. Yeah, because
- 21:00Speaker 1: he was great in Meet the Fockers. He was, actually.
- 21:03Speaker 1: I love that film.
- 21:04Speaker 4: Very good.
- 21:04Speaker 1: But look, as I say, a pretty good watch, a
- 21:07Speaker 1: solid watch. I'll give it three buzzies.
- 21:09Speaker 4: There you go.
- 21:09Speaker 3: The Whisper Man.
- 21:10Speaker 4: The Whisper Man Netflix. Directed by New Zealander James Ashcroft.
- 21:13Speaker 3: Last night I watched the second to last episode of
- 21:16Speaker 3: the first season of Outrageous Fortune. TVNZ Plus. This episode,
- 21:20Speaker 3: a certain lawyer named Corky has got a pee addiction.
- 21:25Speaker 3: Played very well by Hoini J.
- 21:27Speaker 4: Very convincingly.
- 21:27Speaker 1: Thanks, mate.
- 21:28Speaker 3: Really, really great performance.
- 21:29Speaker 1: Thank you.
- 21:30Speaker 3: Genuinely, I was like, oh my God, he's crazy.
- 21:32Speaker 4: Right.
- 21:33Speaker 3: And then there was a moment where Anthony Starr, who's
- 21:35Speaker 3: now an international superstar thanks to the boys, he plays Homelander,
- 21:39Speaker 3: he grabs you and throws you over the desk.
- 21:41Speaker 5: Yes.
- 21:42Speaker 3: Now, I remember you telling a story about that. What
- 21:43Speaker 3: happened after that? I.
- 21:45Speaker 1: I think Anthony injured his hand.
- 21:47Speaker 3: And he hurt himself.
- 21:48Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah.
- 21:49Speaker 1: Because we actually did that stunt. And I can remember
- 21:52Speaker 1: at the time thinking, jeez, this is a bit full on. Yeah.
- 21:55Speaker 1: Because he was committed to it. And I was, you know,
- 21:57Speaker 1: a pee addict looking for my stuff. Yeah. So we
- 22:01Speaker 1: were both kind.
- 22:02Speaker 3: Of, whoa!
- 22:03Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:04Speaker 4: You both had your motivations.
- 22:05Speaker 1: Yeah, we both had motivation.
- 22:07Speaker 3: Because he plays two characters, Jethro and Van, who are twins.
- 22:10Speaker 3: And Jethro, you know, you have a go at Jethro
- 22:12Speaker 3: and then he like punches you in the face or
- 22:14Speaker 3: something and throws you over. And then Van comes and
- 22:16Speaker 3: starts kicking the shit out of old Horty J.
- 22:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 22:19Speaker 3: Are you in more of Outrageous Fortune?
- 22:23Speaker 1: Oh, I can't recall.
- 22:24Speaker 3: It's only one of the greatest shows in New Zealand history.
- 22:29Speaker 1: I think maybe I get arrested or something. Maybe. I
- 22:33Speaker 1: can't remember. It's a surprise.
- 22:35Speaker 4: Not because Jase wants it to be a surprise, but
- 22:37Speaker 4: because he can't remember.
- 22:38Speaker 1: Pretty much.
- 22:38Speaker 3: Because the thing I've noticed in that show is the
- 22:40Speaker 3: side characters will get introduced and then they'll be woven
- 22:42Speaker 3: back into the story again.
- 22:45Speaker 1: Yes, I am still in the series.
- 22:47Speaker 4: Okay, great.
- 22:47Speaker 1: Because I think I come back in maybe season three. Okay,
- 22:51Speaker 1: great to know. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 22:53Speaker 3: Very, very, very, very good. If you haven't seen it before,
- 22:55Speaker 3: please go watch it.
- 22:56Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 22:56Speaker 1: It's so good.
- 22:57Speaker 4: When can I see that, QB?
- 22:58Speaker 1: TVNZ Plus, man.
- 22:58Speaker 5: Okay, thanks, man.
- 22:59Speaker 1: So great. In the meantime, he's talking heads.
- 23:03Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 23:07Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 23:09Speaker 1: Welcome back, you massive backbones. Hope you're getting through your
- 23:11Speaker 1: Tuesday okay. You're listening to The Big Show, by the way,
- 23:14Speaker 1: brought to you by Reburger.
- 23:16Speaker 3: Crave-worthy street food freshly made with Reburger.
- 23:20Speaker 1: Scrumdiddlyumptious. I just had a curious thought, fellas, before we
- 23:26Speaker 1: started this voice break. And it was, I wonder how
- 23:30Speaker 1: many voice breaks I've done in my life.
- 23:33Speaker 3: A voice break being where you chat between songs.
- 23:36Speaker 1: You know, where you do your job, basically.
- 23:37Speaker 4: Well, sadly, the last person that would know the answer
- 23:40Speaker 4: to that is you.
- 23:41Speaker 1: Exactly.
- 23:41Speaker 4: As we just found out earlier on with Keezy talking
- 23:43Speaker 4: about Outrageous Fortune and then asking you whether you knew
- 23:46Speaker 4: if you were in any episodes past the conclusion of
- 23:49Speaker 4: season one, you don't know.
- 23:51Speaker 1: Yeah, no, then I remembered season three, Keezy.
- 23:54Speaker 4: Well, you guessed. We'll find out.
- 23:55Speaker 1: Lock and load, mate.
- 23:57Speaker 3: How many episodes of Brokenwood have you been in?
- 23:59Speaker 1: Well, I wouldn't have a clue, man.
- 24:00Speaker 3: Okay, so how are you supposed to know how many
- 24:03Speaker 3: voice breaks you've done?
- 24:04Speaker 1: Well, this is what I mean. I mean, you could
- 24:06Speaker 1: go by numbers.
- 24:07Speaker 4: Yeah, that's the way you normally do it.
- 24:09Speaker 1: Sort of 17 in a day and five days a week,
- 24:12Speaker 1: 50 years. You know what I mean?
- 24:17Speaker 3: I thought you were 39.
- 24:18Speaker 1: I reckon it's like this could be my millionth voice break.
- 24:23Speaker 3: Could be. I've just typed it in and done the maths.
- 24:26Speaker 4: Yes.
- 24:26Speaker 1: 47. 47. God, is that all? Yeah. God, it feels
- 24:31Speaker 1: a lot more than that. I know.
- 24:32Speaker 4: You sure it's not 39? It feels a lot more
- 24:35Speaker 4: than that. A lot more than 39, Jase.
- 24:39Speaker 1: Hey, anyway.
- 24:40Speaker 3: It feels more like mid-50s to me.
- 24:41Speaker 1: Yeah, like mid-50s.
- 24:42Speaker 4: Yeah, right.
- 24:42Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, it wouldn't be that much.
- 24:45Speaker 3: It's just what it feels like.
- 24:48Speaker 1: Now, coming up, we check Keezy's racing pigeon.
- 24:52Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 24:53Speaker 1: It's not good.
- 24:54Speaker 3: No, it's not. We've got to do something about this, fellas.
- 24:56Speaker 1: Here's Soundgarden.
- 24:57Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show. Weekdays from 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 25:01Speaker 1: Queens of the Stone Age on the Radio Hauraki Big
- 25:04Speaker 1: Show this Tuesday afternoon. The time, 14 minutes past 5 o'clock. Now,
- 25:09Speaker 1: many of our listeners will be aware that old Keezy
- 25:12Speaker 1: spent a fair amount of coin on a racing pigeon.
- 25:15Speaker 1: And I think it's fair to say, fellas, it's been
- 25:18Speaker 1: an unmitigated disaster. Keezy on all wings looking over his
- 25:24Speaker 1: beak with me, Keezy.
- 25:29Speaker 3: That's right, Keezy on all wings looking over his beak
- 25:32Speaker 3: with me, Keezy. It's the name of the stupid pigeon.
- 25:35Speaker 3: As chosen by the Hodaki audience.
- 25:37Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 25:38Speaker 3: Still hate that name.
- 25:39Speaker 1: I love it.
- 25:41Speaker 3: So this pigeon has done five races, fellas. Basically what
- 25:45Speaker 3: happened is there's a bloke down in Timaru there. He
- 25:47Speaker 3: runs a bar called Hector Blacks. They have got the
- 25:50Speaker 3: Oamaru Bird Club on board and they do a spring
- 25:53Speaker 3: series of pigeon races. Yeah. So we've had five races
- 25:57Speaker 3: so far. The first race, Ashburton to Oamaru, 150 kilometres.
- 26:03Speaker 3: My pigeon came 93rd out of a possible 115th. So
- 26:06Speaker 3: right at the back of the pack, not good. Next race, Christchurch, Tuamaru, 73rd.
- 26:12Speaker 3: Getting better, still shithouse. Next race, Cheviot, Tuamaru, 38th. Improving.
- 26:20Speaker 4: How far was that one?
- 26:21Speaker 3: That was 200 and, sorry, 320 kilometres.
- 26:26Speaker 4: That's a long way.
- 26:27Speaker 1: That's a long way.
- 26:29Speaker 4: Especially if you're going, you know, sort of 38th. It's
- 26:31Speaker 4: a waste of time.
- 26:32Speaker 3: 100%.
- 26:32Speaker 1: You just want to go, why am I doing this mid-air?
- 26:36Speaker 3: Kaikoura to Oamaru, 380 kilometres, 31st. So improved again. Wow.
- 26:43Speaker 1: Long distance, obviously. Mad bastard.
- 26:45Speaker 3: Now, over the weekend, it was back to the Ashburton
- 26:48Speaker 3: to Oamaru, the short distance race where it originally came
- 26:52Speaker 3: 93rd the first time around. Fellas, the reason I haven't
- 26:54Speaker 3: brought it up is because I'm not bringing this to
- 26:57Speaker 3: the table. I'm not giving it to you and the
- 26:58Speaker 3: listeners unless it does something good. And I'm actually getting
- 27:01Speaker 3: to the point now where it's actually embarrassing to have
- 27:02Speaker 3: this pigeon... sort of related to the big show.
- 27:06Speaker 1: It's like an albatross around your neck, if I can
- 27:09Speaker 1: put it that way, Keezy.
- 27:11Speaker 4: Can I just say that in terms of content for
- 27:15Speaker 4: the big show, the results are good.
- 27:17Speaker 1: Why's that?
- 27:17Speaker 4: Well, because the bird is failing miserably and you've heavily
- 27:21Speaker 4: invested in its success. So for that, it's the perfect
- 27:24Speaker 4: concoction of you've got high hopes and then the delivery
- 27:26Speaker 4: of the thing that you've got faith in, like Hoity
- 27:28Speaker 4: J giving up the smoking.
- 27:29Speaker 1: Yeah, failed again. Has let you down. Again.
- 27:31Speaker 4: So Keezy's sad. Ratings go up.
- 27:34Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 27:34Speaker 4: People love it. It's our bread and butter, Keezy.
- 27:37Speaker 3: Keezy's sad equals ratings up.
- 27:39Speaker 4: That's right. And so I think the only mistake we're
- 27:42Speaker 4: making here is not talking about it every single week. Now,
- 27:44Speaker 4: if this bird was coming first or we were making
- 27:46Speaker 4: lots of money, people would change the channels.
- 27:49Speaker 5: Yeah. Really?
- 27:49Speaker 3: Because I think that they'd be kind of stoked.
- 27:51Speaker 1: No. No, no, no.
- 27:53Speaker 4: They'd be fuming.
- 27:54Speaker 3: Like, if it had won every race, we'd have five
- 27:56Speaker 3: grand right now.
- 27:56Speaker 4: You would have five grand, and they wouldn't stand for that.
- 28:00Speaker 1: And your initial investment, you know, I know it's sort
- 28:02Speaker 1: of loose change for you, but a grand is not,
- 28:05Speaker 1: you know, it's not insignificant. Was it $ 1, 000? Yeah.
- 28:07Speaker 4: It's not cheap, is it?
- 28:09Speaker 1: No, and I mean, especially when you're getting results like that. Like,
- 28:12Speaker 1: if you had invested that money in the stock exchange,
- 28:16Speaker 1: for example, that's like a... A collapse.
- 28:20Speaker 3: Yeah, right. Whereas this pigeon who sucks ass is a
- 28:23Speaker 3: way better investment.
- 28:25Speaker 1: No, this is what I mean. It's the same thing.
- 28:27Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's a better investment in our content. Very
- 28:30Speaker 4: much so. You know what I'm saying? Because it's drawn
- 28:32Speaker 4: out over such a long period. Week after week after
- 28:35Speaker 4: week of failure, then high hopes, then failure, then high hopes,
- 28:38Speaker 4: then failure.
- 28:39Speaker 5: 100%.
- 28:39Speaker 4: And so on and so on and so on.
- 28:41Speaker 1: Sounds like the wars.
- 28:42Speaker 3: Now, Jase, they're literally top of the table right now.
- 28:45Speaker 1: Are you serious?
- 28:47Speaker 4: Come on, man.
- 28:48Speaker 3: The thing that happens every week is the bloke that's
- 28:50Speaker 3: running at Pigeon Tim, the guy who sold me the pigeon,
- 28:53Speaker 3: he releases a video of him reading out the top
- 28:56Speaker 3: 15 results.
- 28:57Speaker 5: Right.
- 28:57Speaker 3: 15th place gets $ 100.
- 28:59Speaker 1: And so on. Are you poised? Yes.
- 29:02Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:02Speaker 3: And he goes from 15 down to one. The same
- 29:05Speaker 3: birds are mentioned every single week.
- 29:07Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 29:07Speaker 3: And never is my bird mentioned. So I'm at the
- 29:10Speaker 3: point now where I'm actually like, hey, what are we
- 29:12Speaker 3: going to do here? Because it's got another race this weekend.
- 29:14Speaker 3: What if it loses again? I'm at the point, and
- 29:16Speaker 3: I'm open to suggestions, 3483. If the pigeon loses this weekend,
- 29:20Speaker 3: what are we doing with it?
- 29:22Speaker 4: Well, I sort of feel like you've invested in the pigeon,
- 29:24Speaker 4: because you've got to stick with it. You know, this
- 29:27Speaker 4: pigeon has been named after you. This pigeon is part
- 29:30Speaker 4: of your family. I hate to say it, but it's
- 29:33Speaker 4: part of the Big Show family. um you know keezy
- 29:36Speaker 4: on all wings looking over its beak with me keezy
- 29:39Speaker 4: what are you gonna do you can't you're gonna you're
- 29:41Speaker 4: gonna back paddock.
- 29:41Speaker 3: It no well that's up to the audience three four
- 29:43Speaker 3: eight three every text in the drawer for a 50
- 29:45Speaker 3: reburg about you if it doesn't get on the podium
- 29:47Speaker 3: this week in the top 10 i want suggestions of
- 29:50Speaker 3: what we do with the pigeon All right, and to
- 29:52Speaker 3: be honest, I want to chat to Pigeon Tim again.
- 29:54Speaker 3: I haven't chatted to him.
- 29:54Speaker 4: In a month. I've got a vibe that Pigeon Tim
- 29:57Speaker 4: is running a not-insubstantial Ponzi scheme here, and our friend
- 30:01Speaker 4: Keezy has been a victim of it.
- 30:02Speaker 1: Well, I'm really looking forward to you just letting loose
- 30:05Speaker 1: on Pigeon Tim, actually. Well, no, not yet. Giving it
- 30:07Speaker 1: to him. Just saying, what are you doing here, mate?
- 30:09Speaker 1: I'm not going to let loose on him on the radio. Well,
- 30:11Speaker 1: I think you should. I'd be fuming. Weezer? Yeah, okay.
- 30:17Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 30:20Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 30:22Speaker 1: Gorillas there on the Radio Hauraki Big Show this Tuesday afternoon.
- 30:29Speaker 1: The time is 5.27. We're talking Keezy's racing pigeon. And
- 30:35Speaker 1: if you just tuned in.
- 30:39Speaker 1: Old Keezy on all wings looking over his beak with me. Keezy,
- 30:43Speaker 1: the name of the pigeon, has not been performing well.
- 30:47Speaker 1: And Keezy is absolutely fuming. Keezy on all wings looking
- 30:55Speaker 1: over his beak with me. Keezy. I am anticipating massive
- 31:02Speaker 1: fireworks in the next minute or two because we've got
- 31:05Speaker 1: Pigeon Tim who runs the whole operation on the phone there. G'day, Tim,
- 31:09Speaker 1: you mad bastard. How's life?
- 31:11Speaker 5: G'day, fellas. How are you going today?
- 31:13Speaker 1: Yeah, good. Thanks, mate. Good, good, good. Keezy, not so much.
- 31:16Speaker 5: Hey, Tim. I understand you're not happy. Hey, settle down, fellas.
- 31:21Speaker 5: Settle down. This is only... Hey, remember we had a
- 31:23Speaker 5: sprint race this last week. Your bird had been doing
- 31:26Speaker 5: better over distance, so settle down in the north, we've
- 31:29Speaker 5: got a big race from Blenheim this week, good old turnaround.
- 31:32Speaker 3: Tim, Tim, just quickly, do you know where Keezy on
- 31:35Speaker 3: all wings, looking over his beak with me, Keezy finished
- 31:38Speaker 3: this weekend, just gone?
- 31:39Speaker 5: Oh, yeah, not that great. You were 88.
- 31:43Speaker 3: 80, okay, okay.
- 31:44Speaker 1: Lucky for some.
- 31:45Speaker 4: Because it was a.
- 31:46Speaker 5: Shorter distance, I reckon he liked the distance.
- 31:48Speaker 4: Two fat ladies.
- 31:48Speaker 5: Look, you're going to be all good.
- 31:51Speaker 3: Okay, so I've been plotting down all the results and
- 31:54Speaker 3: the distances, and it does show that my bird is
- 31:56Speaker 3: a long-distance bird. What is the longest distance race that
- 31:59Speaker 3: you run, Tim?
- 32:00Speaker 5: Yeah, that's going to be this week, guys. 470km, it's
- 32:04Speaker 5: Flynham to Oamaru.
- 32:07Speaker 3: Okay, so 470km. The furthest distance so far was 380km.
- 32:13Speaker 3: So it's an extra 90km there.
- 32:15Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 32:16Speaker 3: Okay, all right. So what I've decided, Tim, is we're
- 32:19Speaker 3: going to give Keezy on all wings one last chance
- 32:22Speaker 3: this weekend just to sort of prove his medal or
- 32:24Speaker 3: her medal.
- 32:25Speaker 5: Don't get the bloody recipes ready yet for Pitch and Pie,
- 32:29Speaker 5: you know? You could be into some serious money here, fellas.
- 32:32Speaker 5: Don't give up.
- 32:33Speaker 3: Pigeon Tim, in your experience, do pigeons improve? Because every
- 32:38Speaker 3: week I watch the video of the announcement and it's
- 32:40Speaker 3: the same pigeons taking out the top spots.
- 32:42Speaker 5: No, two rights, they improve. No, no, like I said,
- 32:44Speaker 5: this is all, you know, we've got a theory here, fellas,
- 32:47Speaker 5: and I reckon it is because you've got distance on
- 32:49Speaker 5: your side, this is going to.
- 32:51Speaker 1: Help you out.
- 32:51Speaker 5: We were actually over and out of Taki the other day,
- 32:54Speaker 5: just out of Rarotonga, and someone asked if I was
- 32:57Speaker 5: Pigeon Tim. We were talking about pigeons and Well, yes.
- 33:00Speaker 1: Pigeon Tim. It's going far and wide, fellas.
- 33:02Speaker 3: Someone at RARO asked for your Pigeon Tim. That's great. Tim,
- 33:07Speaker 3: one question I have to ask, man, is did you
- 33:09Speaker 3: knowingly sell me a dud pigeon?
- 33:12Speaker 5: I wouldn't do that.
- 33:13Speaker 4: Yeah, nah.
- 33:14Speaker 5: I wouldn't, couldn't, and shouldn't. So don't worry about that, fellas.
- 33:17Speaker 5: It's all legit, all good.
- 33:18Speaker 4: Just looking, we've got a framed photo here of Keezy
- 33:21Speaker 4: on all wings looking over his beak with me, Keezy.
- 33:24Speaker 4: You know, it's got the look of a.
- 33:28Speaker 4: I don't know. It hasn't got too many brain cells.
- 33:30Speaker 4: Do you need to be a smart bird to be
- 33:32Speaker 4: a good flyer, Tim?
- 33:34Speaker 5: No, I don't think so.
- 33:35Speaker 1: No.
- 33:35Speaker 5: Hey, look at these runners out there. You tell me
- 33:37Speaker 5: you're saying Bob's a smart man.
- 33:39Speaker 1: Yeah, true, true.
- 33:39Speaker 5: Yeah. No, no, don't panic.
- 33:44Speaker 4: Okay.
- 33:44Speaker 1: Don't panic. Don't panic, Keezy.
- 33:46Speaker 3: Okay, Tim, I won't panic.
- 33:48Speaker 5: Not yet.
- 33:49Speaker 3: Look, thank you so much for your time again. And
- 33:51Speaker 3: a reminder, if you're intimidated, check out Hector Black's. It's
- 33:53Speaker 3: my favourite pub down there.
- 33:54Speaker 1: Yes.
- 33:55Speaker 3: Tim, we'll catch up to you maybe next week or
- 33:57Speaker 3: the week after.
- 33:57Speaker 4: All right?
- 33:58Speaker 5: Sounds good, fellas. Good luck.
- 34:00Speaker 1: Thanks, Tim. You know what I think you need to do, Keezy?
- 34:04Speaker 1: I think you need to invest more. What do you mean?
- 34:07Speaker 1: In your pigeon. You know, if you want good results,
- 34:10Speaker 1: what's the saying? You've got to spend money to make money.
- 34:13Speaker 4: That's true, yeah, yeah.
- 34:14Speaker 1: So I reckon you need, you know, maybe some nutritionist
- 34:18Speaker 1: sort of assistance, all that sort of stuff.
- 34:20Speaker 3: Well, a lot of people are texting through 3483, someone
- 34:23Speaker 3: suggesting that I feed the pigeon up on steroids.
- 34:26Speaker 1: Yes.
- 34:27Speaker 3: Look into that as an option. Someone here saying that
- 34:30Speaker 3: I've got to ride the pigeon until he wins.
- 34:32Speaker 4: Yep, you do have to ride it until he wins.
- 34:34Speaker 4: You've got a bit of tough love.
- 34:35Speaker 3: A lot of people.
- 34:36Speaker 4: Bit of tough love.
- 34:37Speaker 3: A lot of people suggesting I serve it up at
- 34:38Speaker 3: my come-dine with me.
- 34:40Speaker 4: A little outboard motor.
- 34:42Speaker 3: On the back of the pigeon?
- 34:43Speaker 4: Yeah, on the back of the pigeon.
- 34:44Speaker 1: But you know it's flying, eh?
- 34:45Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 34:46Speaker 1: But an outboard.
- 34:47Speaker 4: Yeah, but it's got that fan at the back that
- 34:49Speaker 4: goes really fast.
- 34:51Speaker 1: What about.
- 34:51Speaker 4: Keith, you've got to try everything at this point. And
- 34:53Speaker 4: you might roll your eyes, mate, but yours is... Your
- 34:55Speaker 4: bloody pigeon's an absolute.
- 34:56Speaker 3: Tell me to put a boat motor on a pigeon.
- 35:00Speaker 3: What was your suggestion, Jase?
- 35:01Speaker 1: Aerodynamic goggles. Oh, yeah, nice. Yeah.
- 35:05Speaker 3: So put goggles on the pigeon.
- 35:06Speaker 1: Maybe you need to make it a pigeon suit that's aerodynamic.
- 35:10Speaker 1: It's a pigeon.
- 35:10Speaker 3: It doesn't need a pigeon suit.
- 35:12Speaker 2: The Hauraki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 35:16Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hauraki.
- 35:23Speaker 3: This is Breaking News.
- 35:26Speaker 1: Boom.
- 35:27Speaker 3: The Dunedin Beer Festival is happening once again, fellas, which
- 35:30Speaker 3: is bloody exciting. You can get your tickets at dunedinbeerfestival.co.nz.
- 35:34Speaker 3: It's the South's biggest weekend of beer, food, and music.
- 35:38Speaker 1: Bloody great time.
- 35:39Speaker 3: Every time we go down there, we do a live show.
- 35:42Speaker 3: We then go to the beer festival, and it's a
- 35:43Speaker 3: bloody good weekend, and I always feel a bit secondhand
- 35:46Speaker 3: the following week.
- 35:47Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 35:48Speaker 3: Let's just say that. Emerson's are the ones flying us
- 35:51Speaker 3: down there. And they are making a special brew.
- 35:53Speaker 1: Have they got a plane? No.
- 35:58Speaker 3: They're just paying for us to go down there.
- 35:59Speaker 1: Oh, right.
- 36:00Speaker 3: They're hosting us.
- 36:01Speaker 1: I was going to say, jeez, they must be going
- 36:03Speaker 1: bloody well if they own their own plane.
- 36:05Speaker 3: I don't think Emerson's has an aeroplane.
- 36:06Speaker 1: We don't know.
- 36:07Speaker 3: No, well, we don't know.
- 36:08Speaker 1: You're right.
- 36:09Speaker 3: But they're flying us down there because they are making
- 36:11Speaker 3: a special beer for the festival. It is a tropical
- 36:14Speaker 3: hazy pale ale. And they need a name for the beer.
- 36:17Speaker 1: Backbone. Okay.
- 36:19Speaker 3: So that's... Yeah, well, Backbone, I guess you could call it.
- 36:21Speaker 4: How about Backbone Brew?
- 36:22Speaker 3: I think we've already had Backbone Brew.
- 36:24Speaker 4: Have we?
- 36:24Speaker 3: I'm pretty sure we have.
- 36:26Speaker 1: I'm joking.
- 36:27Speaker 4: What about Backbone, Backbone, hashtag Backbone?
- 36:30Speaker 3: Well, you could call it Backbone, Backbone, hashtag Backbone, but, Mogie,
- 36:33Speaker 3: to be honest, it's up to the listeners, man.
- 36:35Speaker 4: I'm just chucking out some ideas, though, to get the
- 36:37Speaker 4: creative juices flowing.
- 36:38Speaker 1: What about... Cool. What about... Keezy on all fours looking
- 36:42Speaker 1: over his shoulder with me, Keezy.
- 36:45Speaker 4: What about Keezy on all fours looking over his shoulder
- 36:48Speaker 4: with me, Citrusy Hazy Pale Ale, was it?
- 36:52Speaker 1: Citrusy Hazy Pale Ale.
- 36:54Speaker 3: So say that again.
- 36:55Speaker 4: Keezy on all fours looking over his shoulder with me,
- 36:58Speaker 4: Citrusy Hazy Pale Ale.
- 37:00Speaker 3: Yeah cool I reckon we just lock that in because
- 37:02Speaker 3: that rolls off the tongue and we just sort of
- 37:05Speaker 3: flag the whole competition yeah okay sorted no but the
- 37:07Speaker 3: way it works is you call up you then tell
- 37:09Speaker 3: us your best beer name okay okay what you want
- 37:12Speaker 3: to name this thing and then you get to go
- 37:14Speaker 3: on the draw to be honest we don't really you
- 37:16Speaker 3: know we haven't explained the competition yet to these people
- 37:18Speaker 3: so let's just take Jory there g'day Jory how you.
- 37:21Speaker 4: Going not too bad yourself yeah.
- 37:23Speaker 3: Good mate hey have you got a name for the
- 37:26Speaker 3: have you got a name for the beer man.
- 37:29Speaker 4: Honestly No.
- 37:31Speaker 5: Off the top of my head, I would give it
- 37:33Speaker 5: something real cool like the special meat patty nip hazy
- 37:39Speaker 5: pale ale.
- 37:39Speaker 4: There we go.
- 37:40Speaker 3: Special meat patty nip hazy.
- 37:41Speaker 1: He just actually gave me an idea, which I think
- 37:44Speaker 1: would be a great name for a beer. Off the
- 37:46Speaker 1: top of my head.
- 37:48Speaker 3: Boom.
- 37:49Speaker 1: Or off my head.
- 37:51Speaker 3: All of the above are good. Thanks so much, Joey.
- 37:53Speaker 3: Hold the line there, mates. Look, have a think, all right?
- 37:57Speaker 3: Have a think.
- 37:57Speaker 4: We need to float it so that people know that
- 37:59Speaker 4: the calls are coming. We're going to be taking calls
- 38:00Speaker 4: on this, aren't we, Keezy, moving forward? So have a
- 38:03Speaker 4: think about it. Come up with a name and be
- 38:06Speaker 4: ready to give us a bell when you hear the
- 38:07Speaker 4: cue to call. You know, it sort of feels like
- 38:10Speaker 4: a da-dooge, da-dooge, da-dooge.
- 38:12Speaker 1: Yeah, da-dooge.
- 38:12Speaker 4: Da-dooge is an option there. What else have we got?
- 38:16Speaker 4: That's pretty much it.
- 38:17Speaker 1: My wife.
- 38:18Speaker 3: That's pretty old.
- 38:19Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 38:20Speaker 3: What about come drink with me? Oh.
- 38:23Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. Really?
- 38:24Speaker 5: Really?
- 38:26Speaker 1: You like that? Feels? There's Sheehan.
- 38:36Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 38:39Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 38:42Speaker 1: Welcome back, you massive bank bones. Hope your Tuesday is
- 38:44Speaker 1: absolutely going off. You're listening to The Big Show, incidentally,
- 38:48Speaker 1: brought to you by Reburger.
- 38:50Speaker 3: Beef, chicken, vegan and vegetarian options. Reburger, redefining the norm, man. Re.
- 38:58Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff. What's on the plate tonight, Mogi?
- 39:01Speaker 4: I'm not entirely... Oh. No, no. There was some kind
- 39:05Speaker 4: of a mushroomy, grainy type of an affair being assembled
- 39:09Speaker 4: at home in there. See how that goes.
- 39:12Speaker 1: I'd like a bit of mushroom action, actually, to be honest.
- 39:14Speaker 4: Yeah, I'm not sure about the grains.
- 39:16Speaker 5: I don't know.
- 39:17Speaker 4: It'll be delicious, I'm sure.
- 39:18Speaker 1: Good for your stool.
- 39:19Speaker 4: Oh, my stool, Keezy, and you'll know this, man, has
- 39:24Speaker 4: never been better.
- 39:26Speaker 3: Jase, I did know that.
- 39:28Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:28Speaker 3: It's been so good lately.
- 39:29Speaker 1: You're doing well, man.
- 39:31Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 39:31Speaker 1: It's because of all the grains.
- 39:33Speaker 4: How about you, Keezy?
- 39:34Speaker 1: What have you got on your plate? Well, you would
- 39:36Speaker 1: have probably finished for the day, wouldn't you?
- 39:38Speaker 3: I had a hot pot before the show.
- 39:40Speaker 1: Oh, yes.
- 39:41Speaker 3: Came into town early, parked up, walked down to the
- 39:43Speaker 3: hot pot there. I seriously feel weird right now. My
- 39:47Speaker 3: stomach feels very weird. Something inside me is going to
- 39:49Speaker 3: burst at any moment.
- 39:51Speaker 1: Something inside me. Great show, that.
- 39:54Speaker 3: Tonight we're having a homemade butter chicken pie.
- 39:58Speaker 5: Oh, yeah.
- 39:58Speaker 4: I like the sound of that. Can you bring me in, son?
- 40:00Speaker 3: We made butter chicken a while back, and we had
- 40:02Speaker 3: some leftovers, so we made a pie, put it in
- 40:03Speaker 3: the freezer.
- 40:04Speaker 4: Yes.
- 40:04Speaker 1: Get it out, because my wife's got squash tonight. Oh, yeah.
- 40:08Speaker 4: Question for you, Horty J, man. My daughter, having seen
- 40:11Speaker 4: the video from Come Dine with the Fellas that went
- 40:14Speaker 4: up on our Instagram page last evening, edited by the
- 40:17Speaker 4: wonderful Pugsart, who you'll remember. Spent an hour and a
- 40:20Speaker 4: half taking a dump during that dinner. She was wondering
- 40:24Speaker 4: if you had any leftover meringues, and perhaps you could
- 40:27Speaker 4: bring one in for my daughter. She likes a meringue.
- 40:29Speaker 1: No.
- 40:30Speaker 4: She was fuming that she didn't get one.
- 40:32Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah, no, fair enough, too. Bloody delicious. No, we don't. Sorry, Mogi.
- 40:37Speaker 1: They're all gone.
- 40:38Speaker 4: Ate them all, did you?
- 40:39Speaker 1: Yeah, well, I think my daughter did. Well, they're delicious. Yeah, yeah.
- 40:42Speaker 1: They were delicious.
- 40:43Speaker 3: Hey, speaking of delicious, what are you having for tea tonight,
- 40:46Speaker 3: New Zealand?
- 40:46Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 40:47Speaker 3: 3483, flick us a text. Every single text in the
- 40:49Speaker 3: drawer for 50 bucks worth of re-burger.
- 40:51Speaker 1: Yeah, good stuff, mate. What am I having for tea,
- 40:54Speaker 1: did you ask? Homemade pizzas with ham on the bone,
- 40:58Speaker 1: you know, just sprinkled all over it.
- 41:00Speaker 4: You're going to have ham on the bone?
- 41:01Speaker 1: I'm just going to put the whole bone on my pizza.
- 41:04Speaker 1: Just wrap it up. It's great. Some cheese on there. And, yeah.
- 41:09Speaker 1: Good stuff.
- 41:10Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 41:15Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 41:18Speaker 1: The Black Keys there on the Hodaki Big Show this
- 41:21Speaker 1: Tuesday evening, but right now it's time for.
- 41:25Speaker 3: Time to chat footy with me, Keezy. What are the
- 41:30Speaker 3: Warriors up to? The Warriors are taking on the Seagulls
- 41:35Speaker 3: this Saturday, 5 p.m., It is the final round.
- 41:38Speaker 1: Of the regular season. It is.
- 41:39Speaker 4: You're right there, Keezy, man.
- 41:40Speaker 3: And the Wads are in the top spot, Jase, on
- 41:42Speaker 3: the ladder.
- 41:42Speaker 5: Yeah, man.
- 41:42Speaker 3: Which means they've bagged a home semi. Doesn't matter too
- 41:46Speaker 3: much whether we finished first or second.
- 41:48Speaker 1: It doesn't? Okay.
- 41:50Speaker 3: Not drastically, you know. So, Mogi and I both had
- 41:54Speaker 3: a hunch that they would rest some key players, and
- 41:56Speaker 3: it looks like they have made that call on a
- 41:58Speaker 3: couple of players, specifically Wade Egan, our hooker, who's been
- 42:02Speaker 3: brilliant all season and damn near the best hooker in
- 42:04Speaker 3: the entire game. And also Kurt Capewill, who's a very
- 42:08Speaker 3: experienced Premiership winning, State of Origin winning player. who is
- 42:12Speaker 3: slightly older, and he's had a great season as well.
- 42:15Speaker 3: He's been in for most of the season, I think,
- 42:16Speaker 3: old Kirk Capel. So those two being rested, I like.
- 42:19Speaker 3: But other than that, Mogi, they've still named a pretty
- 42:20Speaker 3: stacked team.
- 42:21Speaker 4: They have. And if you look at it, yeah, Charles
- 42:24Speaker 4: Nichol cook stack returns from suspension. He had two weeks off,
- 42:28Speaker 4: in which time we had Tain Tua Pickie came back
- 42:33Speaker 4: and sort of, I thought, solidified his position as fullback
- 42:36Speaker 4: because he'd been kicking like a mad bastard. But I'll
- 42:38Speaker 4: be honest with you, there's something about it. Chance, I
- 42:41Speaker 4: just love him at fullback. A bigger body, better on defence,
- 42:44Speaker 4: and I think we'll need it. Adam Pompey on the wing.
- 42:47Speaker 4: Lea Toa and Leka are the centres. AKP is on
- 42:51Speaker 4: the other wing. But Chanel Harris-Tavita and Tamari Martin return
- 42:55Speaker 4: in the halves. And I think that's possibly part of
- 42:57Speaker 4: the reason why they want this team to be stacked.
- 43:00Speaker 4: You know, you could have rested Fisher, Harris and Barney
- 43:02Speaker 4: as well. But they probably want to give as good
- 43:05Speaker 4: a platform as possible to our halves pairing so that
- 43:07Speaker 4: they can really come back and find their feet and
- 43:09Speaker 4: go well so that when we're going into that first semi,
- 43:13Speaker 4: they're not sort of having to find their feet there.
- 43:16Speaker 4: They've already got a bit of game time under. Quality
- 43:20Speaker 4: ball behind a decent pack, I think, is important after
- 43:24Speaker 4: a few weeks off.
- 43:25Speaker 3: True that. Jase, in your experience, how do you approach
- 43:28Speaker 3: a semi?
- 43:29Speaker 1: Yeah, what I was going to say, it's actually a
- 43:31Speaker 1: really interesting question, isn't it? Because obviously they're guaranteed that.
- 43:35Speaker 1: So the tendency would be, let's rest up, fellas, all
- 43:38Speaker 1: our key players. And we've had some horrific injury situations
- 43:42Speaker 1: with the Warriors this year. But there's also the other
- 43:45Speaker 1: school of thought, which is... Keep the momentum going. You know,
- 43:49Speaker 1: keep the fellas playing. Keep them in good form so
- 43:52Speaker 1: that when you hit the semi, you're all guns a-blazin'.
- 43:56Speaker 1: But you would be at the back of your mind going, oh,
- 43:58Speaker 1: let's just hope no one gets injured.
- 44:00Speaker 3: What do you know about Eddie Itamir Toiava, who's starting
- 44:04Speaker 3: in the back row? What do you know about him?
- 44:06Speaker 1: Heaps.
- 44:08Speaker 3: Good player. First start of the season, Mogi, I think,
- 44:10Speaker 3: for Eddie.
- 44:10Speaker 4: I think so, yeah.
- 44:10Speaker 1: He's a bloody good.
- 44:11Speaker 3: Player when he comes in. He only pops up every
- 44:13Speaker 3: now and then, depending on injuries.
- 44:15Speaker 1: I reckon he deserves more time.
- 44:16Speaker 3: 100%, Jase. But I tell you what, Aaron Clark in 13,
- 44:22Speaker 3: and one of my favourite players, favourite payers this season,
- 44:26Speaker 3: Jacob Laban in 12.
- 44:27Speaker 4: Yeah, man.
- 44:27Speaker 1: Shit, he's good.
- 44:29Speaker 4: He's got the lid. And Makai Tafua makes his way
- 44:33Speaker 4: onto the interchange as well.
- 44:34Speaker 1: He's a hooker, eh?
- 44:34Speaker 4: He's a hooker cover. He had a brilliant debut, and
- 44:37Speaker 4: then we haven't seen much of him. I think he
- 44:38Speaker 4: is outstanding.
- 44:40Speaker 1: Same, man. Hasn't had enough time.
- 44:42Speaker 3: Isn't it great that the whas are so stacked, right?
- 44:44Speaker 3: Even though we've had heaps of halfbacks go down. Jet
- 44:47Speaker 3: Cleary comes in, makes his debut. It's really like it's
- 44:49Speaker 3: a historic moment. The younger brother of the best player
- 44:52Speaker 3: in the league plays one game, boom, back to reserves.
- 44:55Speaker 4: Yeah.
- 44:56Speaker 3: Because our main guys are back.
- 44:57Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 44:58Speaker 3: It's bloody good, man.
- 44:58Speaker 1: It's hard, man. It's hard out there.
- 45:00Speaker 3: But that's this Saturday, 5 p.m. Waz taking on the Seagulls.
- 45:04Speaker 3: Get around it.
- 45:06Speaker 5: June.
- 45:08Speaker 1: Is this Oasis?
- 45:09Speaker 5: Yeah.
- 45:09Speaker 3: Have you seen this live, man?
- 45:10Speaker 4: Hello.
- 45:11Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 45:12Speaker 1: Yeah, man. It's a tune. Yeah. Wonderwall, Jason. Yeah.
- 45:16Speaker 3: It's good stuff.
- 45:17Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 45:17Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jase, Mike, and Keezy. Tune
- 45:21Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 45:23Speaker 1: David Bowie there on the Hodaki Big Show this Tuesday evening. Now,
- 45:30Speaker 1: you fellas were talking about Cirque de Alice. Cirque de Alice.
- 45:35Speaker 1: And apparently.
- 45:36Speaker 3: Cirque Alice, yes.
- 45:38Speaker 1: Cirque Alice, okay. We are going to get some of
- 45:42Speaker 1: the backbones from that show on the show tomorrow.
- 45:44Speaker 4: That's how they describe themselves. The cast describe themselves not
- 45:47Speaker 4: as cast, but as backbones.
- 45:49Speaker 1: Yes, which is cool.
- 45:50Speaker 4: My understanding is we're going to have Alice herself.
- 45:53Speaker 3: Who was magnificent.
- 45:54Speaker 4: Magnifique.
- 45:55Speaker 3: Amazing voice.
- 45:57Speaker 4: Incredible voice. And also the Mad Hatter.
- 46:01Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 46:02Speaker 1: He's something of a mad bastard.
- 46:04Speaker 3: He's a mad bastard.
- 46:05Speaker 1: Is he quite mad, is he?
- 46:07Speaker 4: He's quite hattery.
- 46:07Speaker 1: He's quite a hat. Yeah.
- 46:10Speaker 4: But it got me a thinking when I was sitting there.
- 46:11Speaker 4: I was like, man, there used to be a time when,
- 46:14Speaker 4: you know, your circuses would come to town, but they'd
- 46:16Speaker 4: be your animal ones.
- 46:17Speaker 1: Yes.
- 46:17Speaker 4: Your elephants.
- 46:20Speaker 1: Your trapeze artistes, perhaps. Well, they still do that. Lion.
- 46:23Speaker 5: Lion.
- 46:24Speaker 3: Dog in a tutu.
- 46:26Speaker 4: Yeah, dog dressed up. A bear on a push bike
- 46:30Speaker 4: with a little dress on.
- 46:31Speaker 1: A clown. Ringing a bell. Yeah. You know?
- 46:34Speaker 3: The bell's very specific.
- 46:36Speaker 4: All those sorts of things. But now you've sort of
- 46:38Speaker 4: got rid of the animals. People don't like to see
- 46:40Speaker 4: the animals.
- 46:40Speaker 1: Yes.
- 46:41Speaker 4: They're like an animal in a zoo. Yeah. Their natural habitat.
- 46:45Speaker 3: Well, I think historically a lot of elephants and stuff
- 46:48Speaker 3: have trampled and set off fires and killed a lot
- 46:50Speaker 3: of people.
- 46:51Speaker 4: Oh, they're shocking bastards. I blame the animals.
- 46:54Speaker 1: Yeah, right. That's interesting. Would they have the dagger wheel,
- 47:01Speaker 1: you know, where they spin the wheel or someone pinned
- 47:04Speaker 1: to it? That's right.
- 47:07Speaker 3: So that's them throwing daggers at the person?
- 47:11Speaker 5: Yeah, yeah, yeah.
- 47:12Speaker 1: Don't hit the person, Kesey.
- 47:13Speaker 4: No, of course.
- 47:14Speaker 3: So we're going to have a couple of the cast
- 47:16Speaker 3: members from Cirque du Soleil, Alison, tomorrow, which is exciting.
- 47:18Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 47:19Speaker 4: And it got us thinking, didn't it, really, if we
- 47:21Speaker 4: were to run away with the circus, what roles would
- 47:24Speaker 4: we take, each of us? Oh, do-do-do-do-do-do.
- 47:31Speaker 1: Well, I've got to be the guy in the top
- 47:33Speaker 1: hat and the outfit, the ringmaster.
- 47:35Speaker 4: Oh, yeah.
- 47:36Speaker 1: Surely, I mean. Okay. Or the lion tamer, you know
- 47:39Speaker 1: what I mean?
- 47:40Speaker 4: I could see you putting your head in the mouth
- 47:43Speaker 4: of a lion. Hippopotamus.
- 47:46Speaker 3: Or a hippopotamus.
- 47:48Speaker 4: A hippo, of course, is the classic circus animal. It
- 47:52Speaker 4: never felt like a circus unless you had a hippopotamus there.
- 47:57Speaker 3: I mean, obviously, I could be like the human cannonball.
- 48:00Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 48:01Speaker 3: Fire me out of a cannon.
- 48:01Speaker 1: Oh, yeah. That's right, the human cannonball.
- 48:05Speaker 4: There's sort of that, they have the strong man who
- 48:08Speaker 4: sort of wears the pox on leotard.
- 48:10Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:10Speaker 5: Yes.
- 48:11Speaker 4: And he is sort of the moe, but Keezy, you'd
- 48:13Speaker 4: have to shave your head off because he's always bald,
- 48:15Speaker 4: that fella.
- 48:15Speaker 3: Yeah, I'll shave my head off.
- 48:16Speaker 1: Yeah.
- 48:17Speaker 3: And then wax up my moustache and make it curly.
- 48:21Speaker 1: Did they used to have, I'm trying to remember what
- 48:23Speaker 1: it was called, you know, like the bearded lady.
- 48:25Speaker 4: The freak show.
- 48:26Speaker 1: I was just thinking the bearded lady.
- 48:27Speaker 3: The freak show.
- 48:28Speaker 1: Yeah, and you go, ooh. What were the other freaks
- 48:31Speaker 1: in the freak show?
- 48:32Speaker 3: So you had the ugliest woman alive.
- 48:34Speaker 1: Yeah, that's right.
- 48:34Speaker 3: Which was actually a shaved ape.
- 48:37Speaker 1: Oh, was it?
- 48:38Speaker 3: Historically. What's the name of P.T. Barnum's travelling circus? It
- 48:41Speaker 3: was a shaved ape. A bear, sorry, a shaved bear.
- 48:45Speaker 3: It was the ugliest woman alive. They'd sedate it and
- 48:47Speaker 3: put it in a dress.
- 48:48Speaker 1: And, of course, the... The bearded woman.
- 48:52Speaker 4: There's someone for everyone.
- 48:53Speaker 3: The bearded woman was a woman who actually did have
- 48:56Speaker 3: that condition.
- 48:56Speaker 4: Where you grow facial hair. I think it's that condition
- 48:59Speaker 4: where they just don't wax.
- 49:01Speaker 1: Yeah, yeah.
- 49:02Speaker 3: Well, you don't just grow a beard as a woman, traditionally.
- 49:04Speaker 1: What would you do, Mogi? I don't know.
- 49:08Speaker 3: I sort of feel like I'd like to be a
- 49:09Speaker 3: part of the trapeze.
- 49:11Speaker 1: Oh, yeah.
- 49:12Speaker 4: One of the clowns would be good because you go
- 49:14Speaker 4: around with a bucket and you pretend you've got water
- 49:15Speaker 4: in there. You know, you trip over there's no water
- 49:18Speaker 4: yeah backbone.
- 49:19Speaker 1: Yeah and try and throw it into the crowd.
- 49:20Speaker 3: Backbone the clown.
- 49:25Speaker 4: That'd be great it actually would be it would be
- 49:27Speaker 4: a lot of fun I think to be in a
- 49:28Speaker 4: circus and particularly this one if you do get to
- 49:31Speaker 4: go along and see Cirque de Alice a lot of
- 49:35Speaker 4: good looking bastards in there Keezy oh yeah did you
- 49:38Speaker 4: notice that.
- 49:38Speaker 3: Man Tweedledee and Tweedledum, they're pretty hot.
- 49:42Speaker 2: The Hodaki Big Show with Jace, Mike and Keezy. Tune
- 49:45Speaker 2: in weekdays at 4 on Radio Hodaki.
- 49:55Speaker 1: Well, there you go, you mad bastards. That's the big
- 49:58Speaker 1: show done and dusted this Tuesday. In the disclaimer, we
- 50:02Speaker 1: talked all sorts of stuff, didn't we, Kesey? What's the
- 50:05Speaker 1: clip today?
- 50:06Speaker 3: Good question, Jase. The disclaimer being the bonus podcast we
- 50:09Speaker 3: do every single day, Search Hodaki Big Show.
- 50:11Speaker 4: It's a filthy one today, if I remember. Kesey was
- 50:13Speaker 4: off the rails.
- 50:14Speaker 1: Was he?
- 50:14Speaker 4: Shock and bass.
- 50:15Speaker 1: Oh, yeah, that's right.
- 50:16Speaker 3: Well, that probably explains why this clip is named, Ooh, Kesey.
- 50:23Speaker 4: I don't rate the... of a standing man. It's not
- 50:28Speaker 4: as good. It's never as good.
- 50:30Speaker 3: I don't mind it.
- 50:33Speaker 1: What do you mean?
- 50:33Speaker 3: That's going on the show. Sorry fellas, I was out
- 50:43Speaker 3: of control there. If you listen to that, you'll see.
- 50:46Speaker 1: You'll see. It's kind of creepy.
- 50:47Speaker 3: What, me just saying I don't mind it?
- 50:53Speaker 4: It's all the stuff around it. It's all the other stuff.
- 50:55Speaker 4: It's all the eye contact around it.
- 50:57Speaker 1: Yeah, right, okay.
- 50:58Speaker 4: The hand signals and that.
- 51:00Speaker 1: Mogi, plans for the evening, please. Going home now, man. Yeah, okay.
- 51:04Speaker 1: Good call.
- 51:06Speaker 4: I might have a bath and read a bit more
- 51:07Speaker 4: of me book.
- 51:08Speaker 1: Yeah, sure.
- 51:10Speaker 4: But I also want to watch The Whisper Man as well.
- 51:12Speaker 3: Yeah.
- 51:12Speaker 4: You know? I was meant to watch it last night,
- 51:15Speaker 4: but I was too tired and I went to bed early.
- 51:17Speaker 4: I've got to get a good sleep in me, fellas.
- 51:19Speaker 4: I've just got to.
- 51:20Speaker 1: Yeah, man.
- 51:21Speaker 4: It's ruining my days, fellas, so I'll have some sleepy tea.
- 51:24Speaker 4: Might have a standing up one. We'll see how we go.
- 51:26Speaker 1: Yeah, good. Yeah, I don't mind a standing up one. What?
- 51:31Speaker 3: It's a sleepy tea. I don't even know what you're
- 51:32Speaker 3: talking about, man. What are you up to, Jase?
- 51:36Speaker 1: Well, I want to know what you're up to. If
- 51:38Speaker 1: you say a standing up one.
- 51:40Speaker 4: I don't care what either of you are doing. Can
- 51:41Speaker 4: I go?
- 51:42Speaker 1: No. Yeah, you can. You'll dismiss. No, no, no.
- 51:46Speaker 3: I'm having pie.
- 51:47Speaker 1: Yeah, nice. I like pie.
- 51:50Speaker 3: My wife just messaged being like, hey, not going to
- 51:52Speaker 3: squash tonight.
- 51:53Speaker 1: Can't be bothered. Oh, no. Just ruined your night.
- 51:56Speaker 3: We're going to eat pie. It kind of has a
- 51:57Speaker 3: wee bit. We'll eat pie together, and then we'll probably
- 52:00Speaker 3: watch another episode of Outrageous Fortune, the final episode of
- 52:02Speaker 3: the first season.
- 52:03Speaker 1: Yeah, nice.
- 52:03Speaker 5: Nice.
- 52:04Speaker 4: Jase.
- 52:04Speaker 1: I'm going to go home and stuff my face. And
- 52:07Speaker 1: then have dinner. I don't even know what that means.
- 52:10Speaker 4: I do. Shocking bit.
- 52:12Speaker 1: Because I'm starving. Two nights in a row I've gone
- 52:14Speaker 1: home starving, but I've resisted buying anything on the way home.
- 52:18Speaker 1: I'm going to fill my boots, watch some TV, and
- 52:21Speaker 1: then I don't know, actually, what I might.
- 52:23Speaker 3: We don't care after the watch TV part.
- 52:25Speaker 4: Must go.
- 52:25Speaker 3: Bogey's got to go, man.
- 52:27Speaker 1: I've got to go, man. Actually, I had quite a
- 52:29Speaker 1: late one last night, so I'll probably look to have
- 52:32Speaker 1: a bit of a nerd. Hey, take care out there. Goodbye.
- 52:34Speaker 1: See you tomorrow.
- 52:35Speaker 2: Doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh, doosh.
- 52:41Speaker 3: Thank you.
